Nestled just across the Ebro River from Logroño's historic center, Bodegas Franco Españolas is a celebrated winery with roots stretching back over a century. This charming establishment offers visitors an opportunity to explore its rich history through guided tours and tastings, showcasing the art of winemaking that has flourished since its inception in the 1800s.
The perfect wine tasting experience in Logroño. Well established winery with a beautiful tasting room, friendly, patient, multi-lingual, and knowledgeable staff. Delicious wines. Various purchase options, including shipping - at reasonable costs. Reservation was not required for the tasting menu…on this day. Reds delivered as expected, but the whites were a complete and delightful surprise. Ordered a mixed case shipped.
Randy R — Google review
We have really enjoyed the winery tour at Franco Españolas, it is right there in the city of Logroño so do not miss it. The tour content is way superior than other wineries because they take a meta view of the history of the region. It was the union of Spanish and French producers (hence the name) after the phyllorexa epidemic that spawn the renewal of wine production and it happened right here at this winery. The tour is very complete, from the original vats to the cellar where they store their old vintages (that are on sale), our tour guides was very knowledgeable and enjoyed giving the history and explanations. That was the highlight: the tour guide. It made a big difference. And he answered all questions. A real professional. The tasting at the end is the most underwhelming part of the tour, we almost lowered the rating to 4/5 because of it but the tour guide is so good that the content more than made up for the wine tasting. Highly recommended. P.S.: if this review was useful, please leave a 👍 and we thank you 🙏 in advance

We attended the Spanish language version. Interesting tour from a history point of view. Very knowledgeable guide, lacking in enthusiasm though. The tasting at the end of the tour left us a bit cold. This is where the guide's passion would have helped. Instead, he just disappeared without saying thanks and goodbye to the visitors. Overall, professionally organized, a tourist experience rather than one for wine enthusiasts. And that's fine, just go and attend with the correct expectations.
Hannele P — Google review
We only did a wine tasting and not a tour. We had a couple of flights of wine, a cheese board, and ventrescas. Ruben, our server, did a great job of explaining the wines to us in English. Our favorite wine was the Palpita. The atmosphere was pleasant.
Tracy T — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Victor, our tour guide, shared the history of the winery and wine making process. Because of the echoing, it was difficult to hear at times. The tasting was just as good as we had hoped.
Angie C — Google review
Booked a wine tour and when I showed up the next day for it, was told along with everyone else that was there for it that they had to cancel. The reason being that someone had paid a lot of money for a private tour that afternoon. They were very apologetic and said they would refund the money- obviously they have to do that. They gave everyone a glass of wine from the bar. Patrons could not rebook because they were not in town when it would be rescheduled. Wine was good, not great. They really should have done more for the inconvenience they caused everyone. Many other places to choose from.
Kim G — Google review
We did a tour with a very good English speaking young lady, Carmen. She was very knowledgable, the Bodegas is amazing and massive. The wines were nice too. Try afterwards!
Ken R — Google review
This is a fun tour and the grounds have been there for such a long time, the historical photos on the tour are really cool. There is a collection of old bottles that would be amazing to get a chance to try. At the end of the tour you get to sample some wine with some snacks to clear the pallet.

The Museum of La Rioja, housed in the elegant 18th-century Espartero Palace, is a dedicated space showcasing the culture and tradition of La Rioja. It features an impressive collection of historical artifacts, paintings, and sculptural pieces dating from the 12th to 19th centuries. Notable exhibits include the Tables of San Millan and ethnographic displays portraying the traditional objects of Riojan heritage. The museum provides insight into the region's evolution and lifestyle through its diverse exhibitions.
Ligrono, Spain captivated me with its unique blend of urban vibrancy and rich history. The city's charm lies in its tranquil atmosphere, offering a refreshing escape from bustling crowds. The architecture is a delightful mix of historic and modern, creating a picturesque backdrop for exploration. A hidden gem worth discovering!
Oleksii K — Google review
I had a couple of hours to spare in Logrono so looked for something to do. This museum will not disappoint- there are 3 floors that take visitors through life in the Rioja region - from Celtic to Roman artefacts up to the C20th. Lots of beautiful iconography - polychromed religious panels and statues. The museum is free and is well worth a visit. I would go again if I found myself back in Logrono. Thank you to whoever provides funding - money very well spent.

Very nice collection, good organized and presented by centuries, it shows overall history of region. Staff is very kind even they don't speak foring language. Warm to recommend.
Marijana Z — Google review
Super nice museum. It has tons of sculpture, painting, statuary, polychrome, archeology, Iberoceltic artifacts, Roman inventions and it's located in an old "palacio" right in the heart of Logrono. Plan to spend 2 hours in this lovely place.
Rex R — Google review
This museum is a gem (AND FREE)! A wonderful synopsis of the development of the region from prehistoric times through modern periods transitioning from artifacts to art in a beautiful way. The blending of history and art is done magnificently here. A decent portion of the painting and statuary were on loan from the Prado and the national museum of Spain. Make this stop if you are at all interested in where this region came from or in history or art in general! Excellent works from the 16th century to mid 20th. We also visited the temporary exhibit on women who helped make Rioja what it is today which was a nice correlation to the main exhibition.
Carl M — Google review
Very worthwhile visit. The permanent exhibition is extensive and interesting beginning with a historic film and covering various time periods. The staff was very nice and inviting. It's a very nice visit of about an hour.

Nice refurbishing of an important old palace with contemporary additions, plenty of interesting exhibits of paintings and artifacts, there is also an interesting film about Rioja. There is no parking anywhere around but a nice walk to it.

A really interesting museum, through the ages in the region of La Rioja from early man to the 20th century. Very nicely laid out and all descriptions offered in English too, plus the videos are subtitled. Free entry!

The Concatedral de Santa María de la Redonda de Logroño is a grand and historic cathedral with two imposing baroque towers that rise over Plaza del Mercado. It is home to significant artistic treasures, including a painting by Michelangelo and carvings by Gregorio Fernandez. The cathedral also houses the venerated image of the Virgin of Hope, patron saint of Logrono.
When you enter the cathedral, there is a notice saying that a QR code for an audio guide is available at Reception. I would take this to mean the sacristy, which is at the very end of the church behind the altar , however it is closed in the middle of the day & not open until 7 pm . Search online for “ la redonda audio guide english “ and it takes you to the Audio Co Cathedral - Logróño website which has the English version of the audio guide. It is well worth listening to as you go around the cathedral.
K O — Google review
Nice cathedral, with a Michelangelo in the back. You have to pay to see a lot of the art lit up, unfortunately, but it's free to get in so not a huge deal.
Bruce H — Google review
An impressive cathedral, yet another in Spain, with a reputed Michaelangelo. Fantastic altar pieces, free entry, not always open and for those complaining about having to pay to highlight certain aspects, whilst its a valid complaint it's mere cents. My pet dislike is in so many churches nowadays that the candles are not real so I refuse to pay.
Brian 4 — Google review
Cathedral certainly nice, but we could not make a tour inside because….5 masses in a row from 9 am till 2 pm
Patrick M — Google review
Nice place, looks impressive inside. They have a unconfirmed Michelangelo painting in the back. Also they open a north tower for visitors and a back door with a nice hall some times. But the most impressive -they play a real organ, with live choir - sounds amazing. I heard it couple of times on weekends in the evening, not sure about the other time slots.

I walked the camino de Santiago in September 2025 . | visited the Catheral in Logroño . It was a spectacular building and well worth the visit.
Frank F — Google review
An imposing cathedral with the two twin towers over its beautifully carved Western doors looking down over the Plaza mayor of Logroño. Although not as grandiose as the Cathedrals of Burgos, León, Oviedo or Santiago it is still well worth a visit and has some excellent structures and pieces. Particularly worth viewing are the domes in the Eastern section, Its golden alter piece, elaborate southern entrance, and western Chapels.

Casa de las Ciencias, located on the north bank of the River Ebro in Logrono, is a cultural museum housed in a restored warehouse from 1901. The striking red and white building offers various interactive science and technology exhibits for visitors of all ages. Inside, there are changing exhibitions dedicated to science, including one about engineering projects during the reign of Felipe II. The museum also hosts weekly workshops and features models to help visualize scientific concepts.
my husband has a technical education, but he was happy as a child. a man and his son passed by and also rejoiced with their husband. I liked the water in the yard. It's great to come here with children.

Great place to visit while wandering around town. Everything is in walking distance. Interesting science museum and lots to.see and do. What is amusing, however, is when you see a domestic appliance on display that you remember using yourself 🤔 Worth a visit!
Ernie S — Google review
One of the few truly kid-centric indoor activities in Logroño. Beautiful and convenient location along the Ebro River bank, flanked on both sides by trails and park space. Small museum with limited exhibits, and a great little library. Weekends feature hands-on, interactive demonstrations which are excellent - often hosted in their heavily shaded outdoor space. Also some fun science-inspired installations throughout the property. Very kind staff, clean facility, and a welcomed reprieve from the summer heat.
Andrew R — Google review
We didn't go in, but the science exhibits outside were incredibly fun (and educational to boot!)
Mindy H — Google review
Poor. Don't bother going inside, even if it is free! Just 'play' with the exterior stuff which can be fun for half an hour. The interior has a very large photo of old Logroño and a toilet which are worth a visit if you need to, but the rest is just not worth it.
David B — Google review
This is an amazing free museum with lovely interactive exhibits which teach you the philosophy of science. The outdoor exhibits make great music. Would give 6/5 for a free museum of such quality.
Deryck C — Google review

The Iglesia de Santiago el Real is a 16th century church in Logrono, located on a medieval temple. It has an impressive Baroque facade topped with an enormous statue of Santiago Matamoros, making it one of the city's most iconic landmarks. The parish also includes a pilgrimage path through the city, which makes it a popular destination for visitors.

At first, I first slightly overwhelmed by the good will and welcoming attitude of the community. We all had dinner and breakfast together (well, breakfast time was a bit more flexible) and they also offered us the chance to take part in the Eucharist. However, the best part for me was the hospitalero, who helped me greatly with his advice on blisters, as it was the first time I had such big ones. And I would like to thank him publicly for his general advice, that allowed me to carry on with a brighter mood. Thoroughly recommended to stop by.

Cost: by donation. We were greeted by a really friendly man who explained the rules and services. The room had 18 beds which were decently comfortable. There was a family style supper where everyone sang a hymn together, mass, and an evening prayer and blessing for the peregrinos.

(Translated by Google) One of the great wineries in La Rioja, popularly known as “The Cathedral of La Rioja” and an authentic architectural jewel with a “Y”-shaped floor plan as well as its spectacular barrel room crowned by 111 hexagonal-shaped domes. I went with my wife for a guided tour, I have known and bought their wines for many years, but I really wanted to see the winery. Jose was our guide, an expert and a great professional. He explained to us how the grape ends up becoming a great aged wine, a reserve or a great reserve, in a few words “from the vine to the glass”, while we walked among the barrels and bottles. Finally we enjoyed a very enjoyable tasting with the rest of the group. Quite an experience! Something that I want to add and that for me has great sentimental value is that I still have the gift of a model of an old cart that was used for the Bodegas Olarra harvest.

The best part is the barrel area, with its hexagonal roofs and 27,000 barrels of 225 liters each. We were told that about 8-10 million bottles are bottled each year. It's a mechanized process, well worth seeing. A visit is highly recommended. There's parking on-site at the winery.

(Translated by Google) Very good theater. The only flaw is the wheelchair users. They buy a patio seat and can't sit in it. They don't allow the chair in the aisle and don't have a space or place to leave it. They send them to the stalls with the chair... but they bought patio seats, which are more expensive. Shame. (Original) Muy bien teatro.

(Translated by Google) But what a thrill, performing at the Bretón. The huge dressing rooms, I myself got lost in one. Capacity for many people, with two floors. The motifs and decoration are very beautiful and pleasant. And a good temperature, which seems silly but it is not. There are pokestops around, but you are in a theater so a little respect, I have been told, I don't know. (Original) Pero que emoción, actuar en el Bretón. Los camerinos inmensos, yo mismo me perdí en uno. Capacidad para mucha gente, contando con dos plantas. Los motivos y decoración muy bonitos y agradables. The building is very charming, super clean and well-maintained, and all hygiene and social distancing measures were respected. Without a doubt, once again, culture is safe. We will return. The Church of San Bartolomé in Logrono, Spain is a historical gem dating back to the 12th century. Its architecture reflects various periods, blending Romanesque and Gothic styles. The unique main entrance is adorned with iconography depicting the life of San Bartolome. The church tower once served as part of the city's ancient defensive structures.
This is really a beautiful church. The entrance is already wonderful and the inside is really inspiring. We were on our Camino de Santiago and stayed for an evening in Logroño. Coincidentally we went into the Church while there was a mass in French (mainly Canadians and French attending), although we are not fluent in French, we enjoyed the moment.

Excellent monument of Romanesque /Early Gothic architecture. Inside you are going to find two splendid tombs of local counts with their funeral shields of XIV century. Admission is free but any donation is welcomed and highly appreciated. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.

Really enjoyed my visit to this place. The staff we really helpful and welcoming. Jesus's knowledge and approach was extremely professional and helpful. While allowed us to have a look around the winery without booking in advance or paying for the tour. Very highly recommended. Finally, whilst it is not easy to get to on foot or puic transport, it is worth doing. If you enjoy tasting wine, this place is a must visit!

It is beautiful! The art installations and layout were fun and educational. The wine is divine and we even hung around after the English tour and listened in on the Spanish version. It was enlightening and enjoyable. My husband and I may be biased since the tour and winery were recommended by a family friend buy I ensure you, everyone gets treated like family here. It's a fun day date or day trip experience. I will visit again.
