Cité du Vin is a cutting-edge wine museum housed in a striking curved aluminum and glass structure in Bordeaux. It offers interactive displays, guided tours, and tastings to educate visitors about the history and production of wine globally. The museum's modern design reflects the swirling motion of both the adjacent Garonne River and wine in a glass. With themed routes and multimedia exhibits, it explores wine's impact on history, geography, culture, and civilization.
Extremely well done - highly informative and interactive, incorporating all of the senses! You can learn as little or as much as you'd like, but one can easily spend a few hours here. The tasting (with 13 different wines from which to choose) on the top floor with beautiful views was icing on the cake on a beautiful summer's day. There is non-alcoholic options as well! Very well air-conditioned, so going in the heat of the afternoon during the heat dome was a huge relief as well! This is a must-visit while in Bordeaux, even if you don't like wine.
E H — Google review
Hard to fault this place. I visited around 6 years ago and it’s only got better. A comprehensive tale of world wine history. A good tasting on the 8th floor featuring international wines. I tried a Swiss wine that was new to me. There are lockers to hold bags as you wander. Excellent easy to use audio guide. A good Bodega. Prices are not crazy they cater for all tastes.
Craig T — Google review
La Cité du Vin is an absolute must-visit in Bordeaux — more than a museum, it’s a full sensory journey into the world of wine. The interactive exhibits are beautifully designed, combining history, culture, and tasting experiences in a modern, engaging way. You can easily spend hours exploring and still discover something new. The architecture itself is stunning, with its flowing, glassy curves reflecting the Garonne. Don’t miss the panoramic tasting room at the top — the view is spectacular. A brilliant tribute to wine culture, innovation, and pleasure.
Natalia B — Google review
LOVED this amazing museum!! It had the most immersive experience including aroma generator technology that I did not know existed. You can smell the aromas of a myriad of scents that are produced from wines, cognac, liquors, and champagne. And the production, service, and industry is covered at great detail. Fun for everyone of all ages. And the ticket provides for two samples on the 8th floor with spectacular views! The restaurant food is excellent, with both vegetarian and meat, seafood offerings. The desserts are amazing! Love the model and the story behind this innovative museum created from a competition around 2010.
Shafi K — Google review
Cité du Vin wine museum offers a fascinating journey through the history and culture of winemaking. The exhibits are well-curated, blending tradition with interactive displays. It’s the perfect place for wine enthusiast. After the exhibits, you can go to the 8th floor to enjoy a panoramic view of the Garonne river in Bordeaux while tasting your favourite wine.
Yash V — Google review
Highly recommended to visit! They share wine knowledge in a fun and interactive way. You can easily spend 2–3 hours there without even noticing the time. A super interesting place if you love wine! We went on a Monday, and it was still fairly busy. Probably best to avoid weekends!
HYE S — Google review
For wine lovers, this museum experience is A+++, even for those who know most about wine. What impressed me the most about this museum outside of its design was the amount of information available if you were interested. The history of wine making around the world, highlighting unique wine making regions of the world, then ending off with a few glasses of unique wines all made for a great experience.
Kyle L — Google review
I actually preferred the Musée du Vin et du Négoce de Bordeaux. It was more historic and personable The exhits here are lots of quite lengthy videos. Would take hours to see everything and I am not sure it would keep someone's attention

Located in a former German submarine base from World War II, Bassins des Lumières is now the world's largest digital art gallery. It features massive artworks projected on walls and water, creating an immersive experience akin to being inside a giant kaleidoscope. The current exhibition showcases the works of Gaudi and Dali set to a soundtrack featuring music from Pink Floyd and The Doors. This unique attraction offers visitors an unforgettable visual and auditory experience.
One of the coolest art exhibits ever. Similar to the one in Las Vegas, but what makes this one special, is that it's within a WWII submarine bunker. Absolutely fantastic! Love how they're revitalizing the surrounding area too. A must see with your Citypass
John A — Google review
Visited the Pharaoh exhibition. Stunning light show immersed with a great soundtrack. Small section on the history of the submarine base. A little more would make it more interesting.
Mark E — Google review
Not for us. The day we went, the exhibition we went to see wasn't on as it was a Sunday they had a special presentation. The little princess, we should have known just by the name, it was a childrens fantasy exhibition. We asked before we paid $54 if it was suitable for older people and the teenager said it would. The redeeming feature was it was housed in a WWII submarine bunker and the story was interesting. 5 minutes.
Deb F — Google review
Given the location and historical uniqueness, this is the perfect venue and acoustics for the light and sound show. Plan to stay 2 hours or more to thoroughly enjoy it
Kathy T — Google review
I personally do not like this place as it is very crowded and very dark. Not easy to enjoy the the show. Too dark to walk around. Buy the City Tour one day pass to see this. If no like, is ok.
Simon O — Google review
Fantastic facility and the light shows are good, the Egyptian one in the main area is excellent, but would be better without the corney Led zeppelin tune. Not a fan of the orientalist one, very colonial. The two small shows in the cube were very good. Would like more detail on the building which is very interesting and maybe if one of the docks was left as it was to explore with no light shows. Still worth a visit.
Colin F — Google review
Not to be missed when in Bordeaux. We chose the afternoon show between 17:00-1900 and the Little Prince theme. We arrived by bus from the city centre. The bus stop is 10 minutes away on foot. The site is impressive and the way the show is directed it elevates the whole experience for everyone. We went with our two children and they loved it. Make sure you visit all the parts of the site while there. The show goes for one hour approximately and it then repeats for one more time, but you can stay in and explore the bassins. The visit was included in the Bordeaux City Pass which I definitely recommend.
Iason S — Google review
The theatre was good. We saw the Egyptian themed light show. The ticket price was expensive and visit duration is around 1hr. We can visit it once just for the experience. I was expecting my 2 year old to enjoy it but he was too distracted with the lights

Located in Bordeaux, the Miroir d'eau is a large shallow reflecting pool built in 2006 near Place de la Bourse. Covering an area of 3450 square meters, it is one of the world's largest reflecting pools and offers stunning views of the surrounding architecture. The water's surface acts as a mirror, creating beautiful visual effects and making it a popular spot for photography.
A brilliant idea in combining a modern structure with the old buildings on the other side of the square. When there is no wind, the buildings are reflected in the water. It is very beautiful, as are the blooming gardens along the embankment. A wonderful space for walking!
Olga I — Google review
Fascinating creation right next to the river. You can see a clear reflection of people and buildings, if it is not too windy. They have two different exhibitions, a mist spray followed by about 2cm deep of water coming up from the bottom.
Michael R — Google review
The Miroir d'eau is just a playground with sprinkles. It is right next to the promenade at the river and across the street from the Place de la Bourse, not in front it, as appearing in the touristic brochures. The thin layer of water creates a reflective surface for the sky or Place de la Bourse buildings across the street. Popular water playground with children and to sit around to cool down in the warmer months or as a gorgeous, instagramable setting for pictures during the day or at night.
Gergana — Google review
An interesting location and use of water in a public space. Unfortunately the day we were in Bordeaux it was windy. The evening was calmer and allowed for some good reflections.
Stuart T — Google review
The Water Mirror in Bordeaux is deceptively simple yet magical. Its charm lies in the cyclical transformation it undergoes, the water functions as a perfect mirror, then a gentle fog is released across the surface creating a dream-like ambiance.
Yash V — Google review
Very beautifil and must visit place in Bordeaux. You can enjoy alone, with family. Beautiful reflection of the building I captured in the water mirror. Biggest water mirtor in the world.
Rizwan A — Google review

What's not to like? Highly recommend removing shoes and socks and paddling around in it. It was refreshing on a day that was in the high 30s in degrees. We spent over an hour paddling and splashing and people watching. Definitely take a visit

Porte Cailhau, a castle-like gate built in 1495, served as the main entry point to Bordeaux. It functioned as a defensive fortification during conflicts and also welcomed dignitaries and hosted ceremonies due to its Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. The sculptures on the gate pay homage to King Charles VIII. Originally situated by the river bank, it now stands as a reminder of the city's medieval fortifications.
Worth a walk to see. I didn't go inside, but it's a nice looking building from both sides to get some nice photos.
Matt- F — Google review
We really enjoyed seeing this large city gate built in 1494. It was part of the defensive wall around Bordeaux during the Middle Ages. It seems the 35 metre tall city gate remains much the same as it did when originally constructed. It is an attractive historic monument worth viewing from both sides while sightseeing around the area.
Brad — Google review
Impressive and beautiful views. Built back in late 1490 to celebrate King Charles VIIIs victory.
Michael R — Google review
This was our best port so far. Right in the heart of the city. Amazing architecture/history, great shopping, lots of great attractions in easy walking distance. Lots of open spaces and so many casual places to get food and a drink. As the grape/ growing region of the Garonne Valley was so close to the port/ 50 minutes away by bus, we ventured to the village of Saint Emillion, it was beautiful. Our whole experience was excellent.
Deb F — Google review
It’s a really nice to visit this medieval monument. It’s 4 floors , the stairs are small and give a medieval feeling and the AI presentations are really interactive. Totally worth it if you wanna see Bordeaux from high and learn some history about the region
Mahima I — Google review
A small beautiful place to see. It's like having a small Castle within the busy city.

The Musée d'Aquitaine is a history and ethnography museum located in Bordeaux, offering a comprehensive look at the region's past as well as artifacts from around the world. Situated near the Cathedrale Saint-Andre, this museum delves into the history, archaeology, and ethnology of Aquitaine from prehistoric times to the present day.
The prehistoric archaeology section is marvelous! Personally, I lose interest by Mesolithic, but of all that sort of recent stuff is your thing there are excellent exhibits of this as well.
Lawrence T — Google review
Ideal museum if you want to spend a morning in Bordeaux and you like prehistoric and roman history. P.D.: if you are under 26, bring a valid student ID with you for a discount (from 8€ to 2€).
Jimena — Google review
Fantastic museum traces the history and archeology of Bordeaux and greater Aquitaine. Many moments of wonder from pre-historic times to the 20th century. Very well done exhibits with translations in English throughout. We spent about 2 hours. Many cafes in the area, tram stops right out front.
Hal G — Google review
Beautiful museum, absolutely stunning filled with history of the region before bc and after bc. From paintings and sculptures to cars and items from the 1960s onwards.
Lars S — Google review
Lots of 5-3000 BC artifacts of Aquitaine. Expect more of Bordeaux history with the rebuilding of the city in the mid 18th century. Lots of stuff on the slave trade and France’s part in it. Found this interesting esp given the juxtaposition of what’s happening with the current USA administration and revisionist history.
Jan G — Google review
Only partly open when visited, some interesting Roman items. The post war exhibition was good.
Keith R — Google review
Very interesting museum with a wide variety of exhibits. The Roman artifacts in particular were absolutely amazing!
Alan F — Google review
Wonderful museum. Objects are the stars and are displayed in a way that doesn't overwhelm even though the galleries are full. There's plenty of label information at different levels and a variety of other intrepretation methods from maps, models, images and films. Each gallery has a hands on table for sensory experiences and information. There's lots to see and even a brief wander through the galleries will take 1-2 hours. There are excellent galleries dealing with the slave trade, new settlers and modern Bordeaux and environmental sustainability The special exhibition on post war France 1945-54 was a terrific insight into the social, cultural and economic development of the country. There's a bag search at the entrance hall and lockers for them (token from reception). The shop is modest, situated at the entrance/exit. There's no cafe/restaurant, just a vending machine in a hallway, with a few tables and chairs. The toilet is unisex with about 6 cubicles.

La Guinguette Chez Alriq is a vibrant and open venue that offers a mix of tapas, pizza, beer, cocktails, and wine while hosting live music sets. Established in 1990 to revive the spirit of the 19th-century riverside cabarets, it has become an integral part of Bordeaux's Right Bank redevelopment.
The food and atmosphere of this place is so amazing, will be back! The lamb chops was incredible!
Chanakarn H — Google review
Great place to see a live band, quirky venue by the river on the wrong side - bit of a track to get there especially during the week when the ferry doesn’t run.
David H — Google review
Found this on Google maps as I was wandering nearby. It was such a lively place. There was an entrance fee of €8 for the live band. After a while of translating their menu items, I ordered the lamb chops (€16). It was well done but not tough at all. It had this crispy char on the outside. Could use with a little more acidity in the sauce. The baby potatoes were delicious and seasoned well! Loved it, I would recommend it for hanging out with friends. Friendly staff and incredible ambiance.
Ana S — Google review
Came to this cute cafe and as a foreigner, I was so confused as I didn’t know what to eat here and how experimental my choice could be… So I had a coffee here(Cappuccino) and a salad, can’t recall the name of that exactly. Coffee was fine and the salad was fine too. Service was quite quick. Despite the rush, they did serve the food quickly. I’ll surely recommend to do visit this cute cafe.

For us, being visitors from Amsterdam, this place feels like home away from home but with a nice French touch. Great way to escape the crowd in the city and sit with likeminded music loving people. Very kind staff they helped me get back my lost AirPod. Love the area called Darwin around there too with skate ramp, coffee brewery and the best bakery in town.

Wonderful wonderful place. A co-operative serving great food, local craft beers and wines, in charming gardens by the river overlooking Bordeaux. Free live music, children's play area with toys, covered seating and open air seating too. Craft local beer is fantastic and the wine is incredible value for money. Cap Sciences is a science museum located in old warehouses on the docks of Bordeaux. Since 1995, it has been a hub for scientific and industrial culture, hosting meetings, conferences, exhibitions for all ages, and various activities for children as young as three years old. The museum aims to make scientific culture accessible to everyone by popularizing it. Visitors can expect exceptional permanent and temporary exhibitions, interactive displays, space exhibits, and a 'living lab.'
I visited a dinosaur exhibition in July. Though the exhibit area wasn’t large, it covered all the essential knowledge. There were many interactive facilities and activities for children, such as an area to freely assemble skeletons, an activity to let children experience the excavation process, and a Q&A session. These features are great for sparking children’s curiosity and inspiring their passion for science. The exhibition also had English and French descriptions, making it friendly for international visitors. Overall, I was very satisfied with the exhibition!
ZO N — Google review
I went to dinosaur exposition in November. To be honest I was expecting something different, I mean it was good but its for children's in my opinion. The ticket was around 7€ for students (10€ for adults), so maybe I could go again to see the permanent exposition.
Luis Q — Google review
I visited the Lascaux cave exhibition today with my husband and three children ages 14, 11 and 7. We all really enjoyed it and I would recommend it as something to do for an hour or so if visiting Bordeaux this summer. We were given a brief introduction by a member of staff which was very useful at introducing the story of the cave's discovery to our children. The exhibition is clearly laid out, informative and very engaging. The audio visual recreation of the cave was excellent at bringing the experience of the prehistoric people to life for my younger children. We didn't do the virtual reality experience so I can't comment on that.
Lucy H — Google review
[English; 2*adult, 1*3y] The animatronic dinosaurs and individual activities are good, The guided activities have very limited value if your children don't speak French, and there is nothing much for adults. I would recommend limiting the number of adults in your party as much as possible, €7.5 well-spent for the child, €10 not so much for each of the adults.
Fred — Google review
We went to the exhibition of the little monsters (bugs). And it was OK, small but good for little kids.
Anacatalina — Google review

The remains of a grand Roman amphitheater, which would have had 20,000 spectators during its heyday, can still be found in Bordeaux. Most of the structure was destroyed in raids and later used for other purposes but parts of it remain today as a historical landmark.
This place is an absolute hidden gem, contrary to the disappointing museum of aquitaine, which was closed. If you are extremely lucky, you can see the local furry tour guide (a cat), who will make your visit even more worth the effort. 10/10 would visit again.
Leo S — Google review
Another nice site in St Seurin & Fondaudege. Good to see it on you way to the park if you manage to visit.
Laura F — Google review
A hidden spot in Bordeaux. It's interesting but you won't spend more than 20 minutes there 😅
Luis Q — Google review
What a find! As someone who has visited a lot of Roman sites in Europe, this one was easy to find and the history around the area, including why there is so little left was worth the walk. We approached it from two different streets and spent some time discussing the way that the area would have looked and how large the amphitheatre would have been.
Mark O — Google review
Small but superb piece of history. Easy to access.
Mark E — Google review
A remarkable Roman remain in a residential district 15 minutes walk from the city centre
Carl U — Google review
NICE BUT NOT MUCH TO IT You can visit this ruin from two streets, though those two streets aren't at all interconnected (you have to walk around). You can see it from the street level, but you can't walk around the ruins yourself. It's an interesting piece of Roman history, but you won't be here any more than 5 minutes, as there's not much more to see other than what you see in the pictures.
Ninh L — Google review
Well worth visiting both sides of this amphitheater. It's interesting to think about the significance of this building over time. In the 18th century it was irrelevant and stood in the way of a housing developer. What does it mean today?

Great place, amazing building and structure! The game master was very helpful and put you into the game. They offer rooms both in English and French. I would have loved more decor to our choice of adventure but overall a great experience!

This was our first time doing an escape game, we had an amazing experience even though we didn’t succeed! It was fun and the riddles were very clever. The staff was friendly and the little breakfast on Saturday morning was nice. I’d definitely love to try another one of these escape games in the future!!

We have done a few room escapes now and this one was fantastic. Really good theming, varied mechanisms for revealing clues, friendly and helpful staff and a free alcoholic drink if it's your birthday! Would definitely recommend.

Really authentic experience, all the furniture and decor looks antiquated so everything feels scary. The actual mystery was pretty complex though and we were far from getting out.. but we got a treasure chest full of sweets at the end. I recommend !

Many friends had talked to me about escape games, but I had never tried one...luckily my company decided to do a teambuilding experience for all 7 of us divided in two different rooms (but with the same "challenge"), and it was great fun! Great service and well recreated story and ambiance.

Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we embark on a culinary journey that takes us beyond the realm of food. We find ourselves in the heart of Bordeaux, a city known for its rich history and exquisite wine. But hidden among its ancient streets and elegant facades lies a gem that speaks to the soul of this cultural paradise: the Grand Theatre. As I step into the Grand Theatre, I'm immediately struck by its grandeur and elegance. The ornate architecture, with its opulent chandeliers and plush red velvet seating, transports me to a bygone era of sophistication. It's a place where artistry takes center stage, in the form of theatrical performances that grace its halls. So, my friends, if you find yourself in this magnificent city, do not miss the opportunity to step into the Grand Theatre. Allow yourself to be transported to a world of culinary wonders, where tradition and innovation collide in perfect harmony. It's an experience that will leave an indelible mark on your palate and your soul.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful theater in the center of Bordeaux, it is spectacular, the decoration is the same since it was built. It's a shame that the opera season is only in winter since it's worth seeing a work in such a beautiful place. This monument is also included with the Bordeaux city pass. Otherwise you would have to pay €7. Closes at 6:30 p.m. (Original) Precioso teatro en el centro de Burdeos, es espectacular, la decoración es la misma desde que lo construyeron. (Translated by Google) Good morning, To begin with, the theater is very beautiful but the problem remains the visit where the indication of payment "young" is not presented it is up to "23 years" according to a hostess who barely understands our anger towards screw the price we pay anyway. Continuation of the program even more disappointing, we have the right to the guide's explanations while climbing the "grand stairs" then we enter the large living room while having explanations, we have the right to visit an unrenovated room (a living room) compared to other plays in the theater. The long awaited moment, the large theater room which is very disappointing for the visit because we have the right to go to the 2nd floor and see the large room through a small window, fortunately the photos in the guide help us to admire the theater seen from the stage. To finish, we are allowed to go up 3 floors to look at a half glass terrace to show us the costumes and explain to us that they are handmade by seamstresses. Conclusion: far too many explanations for the few things to get your teeth into. Please improve for future visitors.....

Saint-André Cathedral in Bordeaux, a towering Romanesque cathedral dating back to the 11th century, may not be as grand in size as some of France's famous cathedrals, but it holds a unique and unexpected charm. Steeped in history, it was consecrated by Pope Urban II and has witnessed significant events such as the weddings of historical figures like Eleanor of Aquitaine and Louis VII.
Absolutely stunning cathedral in the heart of Bordeaux. The Gothic architecture is breathtaking, and the interior is peaceful and majestic. Make sure to visit the nearby Tour Pey-Berland for incredible views of the city. A must-see if you’re in Bordeaux!
Jean N — Google review
I was unfortunately visiting after a family bereavement so my opinion is probably not as positive as others would be. It's large, overwhelming at times, and is very popular. I had no real access to peace and tranquility due to the large crowds and tours operating. Like all cathedrals it begs for money constantly and is vulgar in the way it spends on making itself look attractive.
Philip B — Google review
This is a totally astonishing building. It’s Bill Tower is located separate to the cathedral in this massive square, one of the largest in Europe. The church itself is a massive space. It has the most glorious windows and wonderful atmosphere. It is free to visitand there is a ticketed illuminations presentation. This presentation also has the option of a live choir, providing the music.

The Cathedral of Saint-André de Bordeaux, formally known as the Cathedral of Saint-André, is a historic and magnificent Catholic cathedral in Bordeaux, France. It serves as the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bordeaux. Renowned for its soaring Gothic spire, exquisite carvings, and rich historical legacy, it stands as one of the defining landmarks of Bordeaux's old town. Originally a Romanesque structure, only one wall of the nave remains from the original Romanesque architecture. The majority of the existing structure is Gothic. The famous “Royal Portal” (Porte Royale), built in the early 13th century, is a masterpiece of early Gothic style. The remainder of the cathedral was primarily constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries. Consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096, it serves as a major stop along the Tour route—one of the four traditional French pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. It is listed as part of the “French Routes of Santiago de Compostela” UNESCO World Heritage site. Attending a Mass here offers an atmosphere rich with spiritual resonance. On weekends, the square outside the church hosts various small markets, which are also worth exploring.

The colossal church which stood since the 9th century, is grand and magnificent to behold. The spectacular height and intricate architecture is breathtaking. Inside the church, there are many artworks and depictions of god and the religion. Please visit this place when in Bordeaux

Exceptional! The treasury room is a mere €2 and has some incredible historic religious artifacts. The bell tower (which stands alone) is €9 and if you decide to climb the 200+ steps you'll enjoy a panorama of Bordeaux. The cathedral itself is free entry.

Nestled in the heart of Bordeaux, Grosse Cloche, or "Big Bell," is a captivating historical landmark that dates back to the 15th century. This impressive bell and clock tower was originally part of the city's medieval fortifications and served as an alarm system for fires. Weighing an astonishing 7.75 tons, the bell rings on special occasions like Remembrance Day and Fete Nationale, echoing stories from centuries past.
This is a neat bell tower to see, especially on the first Sunday of each month. That’s when they actually ring it at noon. There are neat book stores & eateries down the street from the bell. We sat outside and had breakfast with a perfect view of it. Also, about a block down Victor Hugo Rue there is a Falling Car poking out of a parking garage that’s fun to find and see!

Behold the majestic Grosse Cloche, a historic gem of Bordeaux, France! Originally part of the city’s medieval fortifications in the 13th century, this stunning tower once guarded the gates with pride, its sturdy stone walls standing as a symbol of strength and resilience. Over the centuries, it evolved into a beloved landmark, its grand clock and bell ringing out to mark time and celebrate the spirit of the community. Today, the Grosse Cloche thrives as a vibrant centerpiece of Bordeaux’s old town, drawing visitors from around the world with its timeless charm. Surrounded by bustling streets and lively crowds, it stands tall under the bright July sky, inspiring all who pass by to embrace history, unity, and the endless possibilities of the present!

Such a lovely surprise in the middle of Bordeaux! The Grosse Cloche is a beautiful old bell tower that looks like it came straight out of a fairytale. You can’t go inside most of the time, but even just seeing it from the street is magical. It’s not a big attraction — more of a “wow, look at that!” moment during a walk through the old town. Totally worth stopping for a photo and soaking up the history. There are cute little cafés around too, so it’s a great place for a coffee break.

Pey Berland Tower is a 15th-century Gothic bell tower located in the historic neighborhood of Pey-Berland, near the Cathedrale Saint-Andre. Visitors can climb 233 spiral stairs to reach the top and enjoy panoramic views of Bordeaux. The area surrounding the tower is rich in history and culture, with nearby museums like Musee d'Aquitaine and Musee des Beaux-Arts, as well as charming cafes, boutiques, and art galleries.
Reaching the top of Tour is no easy feat, but the panoramic views of the city are breathtaking. The narrow stairs and passages add to the challenge, but it's well worth the effort. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience in center of Bordeaux.

The Pey Berland Tower in Bordeaux offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the cityscape that is truly worth the climb. The ascent provides a unique perspective on Bordeaux's architectural beauty and surrounding landscapes. However, it's worth noting that the stairway leading to the top is quite narrow, which may pose a challenge for those less comfortable with confined spaces. Despite the narrow stairs, the unparalleled views from the tower make the experience memorable and offer a fascinating glimpse into the historical and contemporary charm of Bordeaux.

This was a top experience! Pre-booked the tickets so entry was quick and easy. The art looks brilliant cast on the walls and reflected off the water. It's really impactful and immersive. The music playing in the background perfectly suits the images and tone. We saw the Dutch painters, and loved it! Very innovative and engaging way of viewing art. Practical points: the website says it gets cold. Not in the summer...its quite toasty in there but imagine in winter you will need a coat. It's dark...takes some adjusting to. The history of the submarine base is towards to end, make sure you don't miss it. We went round again to watch the start of the exhibit we liked the best.

Our visit to the Bassin des Lumières was a mesmerizing fusion of art, light, and history, set within the hauntingly atmospheric space of Bordeaux’s former submarine base. The transformation of this massive, industrial structure into a canvas for immersive digital art was nothing short of spectacular. Alittle dingy, friendly workers. Smoking pods are a plus for us non-smokers. Some of the older style slots should be ready to be replaced. Upstairs they have a card room that opens at 9pm. Not many players are up there for the size of Bordeaux, Few winners, And fewer of the players understand the basics of card playing. No hole card in BJ after everone hits the dealer gets his hole card from the automatic shoe. Big house advantage.
Dan — Google review
The buffet/restaurant is downright awful. The waiters/waitresses are all super inexperienced and unprofessional. I saw two tables send back their food while I was there (30 minutes) and another table send back their drinks. The entree buffet is horrible, there’s barely any selection, and in my opinion, nothing tastes very good. Same with the dessert buffet. The main course was good, but was served with pre-cooked steamed veggies. The casino itself isn’t good at all either - the ATM machine took my debit card and refused to give it back.

This was a wealthy person’s town house that is quite a grand setting for housing Bordeaux’s collection of decorative arts. The china and silver collections are nicely displayed and the furniture and other period pieces beautifully reflect the way the various rooms may have been furnished. Not a design museum at all. Just another chateau. Not really a museum at all in the sense there's no explanation. If you have been to see the millions of other chateaus in France, this can be skipped. A handful of contemporary pieces are mixed in, but nothing astounding. The title is very misleading.

Parc de l'Ermitage Sainte-Catherine is a large, natural park located in Lormont on Bordeaux's Bastide. It offers a picturesque view of Bordeaux and features woodland, a lake, and an ancient quarry site. The 27-hectare park is popular for its tranquility and abundant greenery, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls or picnics. Visitors can also enjoy the sight of woodland creatures amidst the bushes.
Clean, friendly and a great day for the 7's.

Even despite some security concerns I heard about that place, it is very nice and pictoresque. The main trail can get really muddy which is something to consider. I barely met any other people there, which makes sense considering how far from regular transport stations that is.

Great park far for the curious eyes of most of the people. To reach it from Bordeaux center, I recommend the "batcub" ( public boat transport) from the stop Stalingrad up to lormont bàs. Take your camera with you! Btw, the way there is not well identified and there are no toilets or other kind of facilities around.

One of my favorite parks in the area, it’s clean, green and even has a little water fountain for the dogs, they love it here. It’s quite big with little woodland creatures scuttling around in the bushes that you see sometimes, which is always interesting. There’s never more than a few joggers and dog walkers so it’s a really peaceful place to just stroll and enjoy the view.

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a picturesque wine estate located in Pessac-Leognan, Graves, just a few tram stops from the center of Bordeaux. Surrounded by the city, this historic chateau and its winery were renovated in 2016. Visitors can easily access the estate without needing to rent a car. Guests have praised the private tours of the vineyard and chateau, led by knowledgeable bilingual hosts who provide an informative yet unpretentious experience.
We had a private tasting and tour here and were so impressed by the grounds and wines! The most interesting cellar and wine making room we saw our entire trip were here. The tour was operated by a woman who had excellent English and French so the two of us were able to follow easily what she was explaining. Highly recommend visiting this unique and gorgeous winery! The owner has great appreciation for art so it is quite beautiful. And also great wines!
Kim E — Google review
A great private tour of the winery, they were just starting their harvest and this place was alive with activity. Would appreciate it if they offered a tasting with an older vintage, but it was still worth the visit.

This was the first winery we visited in Bordeaux, proximity to the city centre was excellent as we didn't have to drive out to the Left/Right banks which would have taken hours. Small winery but the stark contrast with the chateau and the modern facility was really visually appealing and beautiful. Monsieur Guillaume was dedicated, professional and it was an honor to be shown around by him. The wine was amazing! Thank you for allowing us to visit your winery, cant recommend enough!
Matthew D — Google review
We went here for my fiancé’s birthday this year for a tour and wine tasting and it was just incredible. Firstly I arrived slightly late, called to apologise and they were fine with our delay. We had a private tour of the vineyard and chateau with a brilliant bilingual host who was attentive, answered our questions and wasn’t pretentious either which was wonderful. The wine, or course, was exquisite and was so nice to learn about it. It was two hours and we weren’t bored for a second. Well worth the visit!

NOT recommended. The 2 tastings were microscopic, literally 1 drop. The winery although quaint and cozy, not something extraordinary. You're better off doing a tasting in a Bordeaux bar.

Château les Carmes Haut-Brion ( the only Bordeaux chateau to be actually in Bordeaux, at the unique address of 20, Rue des Carmes with a walled vineyard in urban surroundings of Bordeaux ) is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the AOC Pessac-Léognan within the region of Graves with the appellation of Pessac Léognan and produces the red grand vin named Château les Carmes Haut-Brion and the estate red second wine Le C des Carmes. Main Varietals are : cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot . The history started in 1584 when Jean de Pontac Lord of Haut-Brion donated a windmill and vines on the banks of the Peugue river in Bordeaux . In 1630, The Grand Carmelite Order expanded the estate by purchasing vines and land located in the “ aubrion “ area and owned the estate for two hundred years as well as retained the ‘Haut-Brion’ name, which gradually became ‘Carmes Haut-Brion’. In 1840, the wine merchant Léon Colin purchased it and renamed it Chateau Carmes-Haut-Brion. Patrice Pichet, the head of France's family-run real estate group, acquired the estate at the end of 2010 and turned this unique ten-hectare estate into a genuine jewel set in the city of Bordeaux with the help of Guillaume Pouthier, the director of operations, and Stéphane Derenoncourt , the estate's consultant . It’s current size of 35 hectares with unique and ambitious new facilities created to support this winery and reception areas designed and created by Philippe Starck and Luc Arsène-Henry were inaugurated in 2016 . The terroir of the main vineyard , a mixture of Mindel gravel, sand, and clay over a limestone subsoil, forms a unique geological spectrum that has informed the unusual mix of grape varieties, consisting of 40% Cabernet Franc, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Merlot. The vines ( average of 42 years old ) are planted with a density of 10,000 per hectare. The estate's other signature wine, Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion , is produced from the complementary plots ( purchased since 2011 ) in the villages of Martillac, Cadaujac and Saint Médard D’Eyrans with a terroir consisting of Gunz gravel, sand and clay . All together bringing the total area of the estate today to 35 hectares with their own modern production facility in the village of Martillac. The vineyards are planted with 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot and are now 14 years old on average. The winemaking has ( using whole grapes and a small portion of the stems ) been carried out in vats of 21 to 86 hectolitres in size. The top wine, Château les Carmes Haut-Brion , is matured in oak barrels with 75% new oak and the rest in large casks and terracotta amphoras for a period of 18 to 24 months. Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion is matured in 30% new oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, and then in cement vats. This is a good and modern chateau that every wine lover traveling in Bordeaux should visit .

The Great Synagogue of Bordeaux is a stunning architectural gem with Gothic and Oriental influences. Located on Rue du Grand-Rabin-Joseph-Cohen, it stands as one of the largest synagogues in Europe, representing the Sephardic community. While its interior was unfortunately closed during our visit, the synagogue's rich history and beautiful exterior make it a must-see attraction. The welcoming nature of the congregation adds to its charm, making it a memorable experience for visitors.
Worth visiting, but you have to go to 213 Sainte Catherine St. and ring the bell during open hours to get in. There’s no entry from Rue du Grand Rabbin Joseph Cohen. We were lucky that there was someone who called from the street and found that out or we wouldn’t have known how to enter.

Galerie des Beaux-Arts is an annex of the Musée des Beaux-Arts that hosts temporary fine art exhibitions. Currently, it is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition by showcasing two renowned masterpieces: Edouard Manet's Balcon and Claude Monet's Cabane des douaniers.
It can be a bit confusing navigating between the different buildings in this museum (they're cady corner and across the street from each other). Many art pieces are missing English translation, if this bothers you I'd recommend using the Google translate image tool. Lots of different stuff, the smaller building has more modern sculpture and the larger has more old paintings and a large courtyard. Only 2 euro for students!
Shelby D — Google review
I'm not an art person, so I wasn't overly interested, but since the tickets to enter are cheap if you're an art person, I would recommend you visit. One important thing to remember is that tickets allow you to enter both the modern and old art galleries.

Basilique Saint-Michel, located in Bordeaux's Saint Michel district, is a stunning Gothic basilica dating back to the 14th century. This architectural marvel features an impressive 114-meter tower that offers panoramic views of Bordeaux. The basilica boasts intricate details such as stained-glass windows and ornate carvings, making it a captivating site for visitors.
Amazing stained glass much of which is from around the 50s, so looks almost like if Picasso designed them. A beautiful church although the bell tower was under reconstruction when we visited, but the windows alone were worth the visit. Also the red and white tiles floor was very interesting. Certainly a place to visit while walking around Bordeaux, and very close to the Marche des Capucins.
Jason P — Google review
A beautiful church to visit, although the separate bell tower was under reconstruction when we were there. There’s some amazing stained glass, much of it appears new after the church was bombed in the war.. Certainly a place to visit while walking around Bordeaux and make sure you put a couple of Euros in the box for the organ repairs
Julian D — Google review
Wonderful work in progress to restore/recreate this Basilica still bearing the marks of WW2 (and more than a bit of neglect I suspect). Its inherent character combined with the interpretive narrative literally built into its recreation this has every chance of becoming one of the magnificent churches of Europe. It’s lovely and evocative above its historic and spiritual echos one can imagine a remarkable rebirth that appears in progress.
Nom G — Google review
I recently visited St. Michel Basilica during a few days spent in Bordeaux. it was constructed between the 14th-16th-centuries and is Flamboyant Gothic in architectural style and began being recognised as a minor basilica in 1903. As you enter you will find multiple language information cards pointing out some general information about the church history, bell tower and a few highlights inside to look for during your visit. The interior is atypical of French Gothic churches with a narrow nave with hight ceiling, vaulted ribs and side aisles lined with smaller chapels. It is less decorative compared to churches like St. Andrea at Place Pey-Berland but still makes for a nice visit for those who like seeing old churches. I enjoyed some of the fine altarpieces and the stained-glass windows in particular. There is a chapel presently being used to host panels and general information about La Fleche which is nice since the bell tower is presently unavailable for visitation.
Brad — Google review
On 21.09.25, I had the chance to visit Basilique Saint-Michel on a day when monuments were open free to the public — a rare treat. Entering the towering Gothic church, I was struck by the light filtering through beautiful vitrages. I had a chance to see one of the medieval alabaster relief panels from the famous 15th-century altarpiece: part of the “Joys of the Virgin” set, recently restored and returned to its place. It felt powerful to be standing before something so fragile, historic and beautiful.
Natalia B — Google review
Very impressive tower next to the basilica, but separate from it. Currently under renovation. An important site for those doing a pilgrimage along the Camino/Chemin from Paris to Santiago in Spain. This pilgrimage walking route is one of the four principal ones in France, which all converge at the small French village of St Jean Pied-de-Port, at the foot of the Pyrenees.

This is the most incredible building. I have never seen something so beautiful and majestic, created by people. You can feel the energy, and it filled my heart with love. It brought tears to my eyes. Love this morning market on the river bank in Bordeaux!

(Translated by Google) Outdoor market that they told us is held on Sundays. On the banks of the Garonne, Chartrons district. Fresh products and prepared food that, in some cases, you can taste right there. It's very nice. (Original) Mercado de exterior que según nos dijeron ponen los domingos. En la orilla del Garona, barrio Chartrons. Productos frescos y comida preparada que, en algunos casos puedes degustar allí mismo. Es muy agradable.

(Translated by Google) While this market could be pleasant, an English fruit seller is capable of assaulting customers and telling them that their children are being rude because they are asking for fruit. The family outing was therefore no longer pleasant at all.

(Translated by Google) It's 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday, and the market is already busy. Start with an excellent espresso from LE PETIT CAFETIER and a tart, stroll past fragrant vegetables, marvel at the rustic bread, sample cheese, eat Lebanese fries, and top a piece of terrine with pink Federweißer. And just gaze at the oysters. Vacation! Urlaub!

(Translated by Google) A place full of little bistros where you can eat and drink. Very cute and not to be missed. Close by and convenient for those visiting the wine city near lunchtime. (Original) Un posto pieno di piccoli bistrot dove puoi mangia e nere. Carinissimo e da non perdere. Attaccato e comodo per chi va a visitare la città del vino vicino all'ora di pranzo

The whole thing depended on this iPhone thing, which didn't work. I changed the device twice, and it wouldn't scan the dots most of the time, and when it did, the audio frequently cut out halfway through. It would also randomly activate other dots god knows where. I saw several others also struggling scanning the dots. The older lady near me finally gave up after about 20 minutes. The taste of wine at the end was good, but it was generally a very frustrating waste of an hour.

This is such a good experience! If you love wine, this is the place to go.

(Translated by Google) Devoting a museum to the glory of the Bordeaux vineyards had to be done. The site is magnificent but unfortunately the exhibition and its content do not meet expectations. Frequent technical difficulties with the location-based listening system. The themes covered are attractive but off-putting due to a deficient user experience and lack of simplicity. I imagine that ten years ago everything was impressive but with current means it would be necessary to revisit everything. The tasting on the top floors is a must.

The only flaw is that there is only one sample from the world's largest wine producer... the D.O. The Mancha (Original) Tienda de vinos del mundo, con una gran muestra de vinos de Bordeaux. Take 3 hours to have time to do everything, and don't forget the tasting of a free glass at the end, it's quite pleasant with the view of Bordeaux (Original) Nous avons adoré !
