The Temple House is a chic hotel that offers modern accommodations, Italian dining, and a tearoom. It is part of the reconstructed complex surrounding the Daci Temple in Chengdu and features a blend of classic Chinese style with contemporary design by UK-based Make Architects. The hotel boasts a Qing-dynasty frontage, a courtyard filled with bamboo plants, and stepping stones.
One of very best 5 star hotels in Asia, excellent location, beautiful architecture, and extremely helpful concierge staff who make it possible for foreign visitors to enjoy the incredible culture and food of Chengdu.

Modern hotel blended with old heritage. Fantastic gym/pool, very comfortable beds and the location couldn't get any better. 5-star customer service. Danny was excellent. Highly recommend.
Andrew J — Google review
This is a beautiful hotel. Between the classic, elegant lobby and the modern guestroom building, the lush greenery with its fresh, moist atmosphere creates a wonderful sense of comfort. The hotel is located in the city center, close to the main hotspots, and the staff service was truly outstanding.

6-Star Stay at Temple House Chengdu Just wrapped up a truly fantastic stay at Temple House Chengdu. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful, pleasant, and attentive—making me feel genuinely welcomed. The room? Spotless. Immaculately clean, tidy, and thoughtfully arranged. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, perfect for a restful night after work Temple House isn’t just a hotel: it’s an experience! Highly recommended for anyone seeking elegance, comfort, and top-tier service in Chengdu.

Looooooved our stay at Temple House. Service provided by front of house blew me away - they went well beyond expectation, thank you. Special mention to Dennis and also our driver Bruce. Location was perfect. Drinks at the bar, delicious.
Thao N — Google review
First of all, thank you Danny for the arrangement! He arranged a 90-square-meter apartment, and there were also rich welcome gifts, and a small nest and snacks for the dog! He was particularly moved to take a photo of us and the dog, and printed it out and put it in a photo frame! I was really moved~ The House series is almost all based in Taikoo Hui/Taikoo Li, and the location of each one is very good. The same is true for Chengdu Boshe. Whether it is shopping, eating, leisure, or traveling, it is very, very convenient. Entering the guest room, you can feel the warmth and cuteness from Chengdu Boshe. A whole can of White Rabbit candy and a whole can of MM beans, and the Minibar in the room is full of various drinks and beer, all free to enjoy. The hotel also gave a fabric toiletry bag with the Boshe LOGO, which can be taken home. The night bed service is also quite attentive. After dinner, when I returned to the room, the cosmetics were neatly arranged in the dressing area, and even the charging cable at the bedside was carefully tied. I highly recommend the Benedict eggs, steak, and soy milk and fried dough sticks for breakfast. The Christmas brunch has a rich variety of dishes at an affordable price and is worth a try. Each table has a beautiful decoration, and the small towels are folded into a hat shape. The enthusiastic service is available at any time, professional, warm and efficient.

Fantastic stay at temple house (now called upper house). Beautiful grounds and amazing location. The service was outstanding, and really appreciate the attentiveness of the staff and for going the extra mile to arrange panda base tickets for us etc. Highly recommend!

Our stay at The Temple House Hotel was truly a home away from home. The Temple Suites were exceptionally spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The personalized service throughout the hotel was outstanding. We especially appreciated the warm approach of Nicole, Christal and Troy. It was a memorable and comforting experience for my family and me. We’ll cherish our stay and look forward to returning!

The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu is a luxurious hotel offering three restaurants, a tapas bar, and a cocktail lounge. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, comfortable bedding, and stunning views of Tianfu Square and the Chengdu skyline. The modern yet elegant room and suite accommodations blend convenience with traditional opulence. The hotel's spa boasts ten treatment rooms spread across an entire floor, along with a contemporary fitness center featuring state-of-the-art equipment.
Last year, I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Chengdu, and what an amazing experience it has been. The rooms were clean, big and had a nice view of the city. The Pool and Spa area was never crowded and well staffed as well. What really made the experience special, was the excellent service that the staff provided, from helping us plan our travel itinerary, offering us drinks at the hotel bar, and helping us whenever needed. Also I can recommend the breakfast that offers a huge variety ranging from western to Chinese options, pastries, and fruits. Thank you to the staff for making us feel welcomed on our first night in China, and I hope to be back at the Ritz-Carlton Chengdu soon!

If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, altgough the service is pleasant and the staff are attentive, I wouldn’t recommend trading your complimentary breakfast or executive lounge access for this Ritz-Carlton Chengdu. The property itself isn’t worth losing those benefits. You can stay at JW Marriott or St. Regis instead. JW Marriott offers both free breakfast and lounge access, while St. Regis includes complimentary breakfast. Despite my friend’s Platinum status, we received no room upgrade. The rooms and public areas are immaculate, but the overall style feels rather old-fashioned.
Napat K — Google review
We normally love the Ritz Carlton line of hotels, and we had just stayed the day before at the Guangzhou location and had a fantastic time. Unfortunately, it went downhill as soon as we arrived. Despite booking the hotel through our Amex Platinum the exact same way we always do, and despite it being listed in the Fine Hotels benefits category (just like Guangzhou was), we were told on arrival that we booked it through Expedia, and that we would not be getting said benefits. We did not book through Expedia. The service girl at the check in continued to degrade our intelligence with poor analogies and insistence "just because we make douyin videos doesn't mean we work with Douyin", etc. The night manager got involved and was able to partially remedy the situation after we showed him multiple proofs the mistake was not on our end. But the damage was done, my wife was visibly shaken by the whole ordeal. Even if Amex used a third party without informing us, it is not OUR fault and doing. Could've been handled so much better. Besides that, and for some rude staff at the restaurant, the room was nice and the stay was passable. I would say overall it was a nice visit, but not worthy of the Ritz Carlton name.
Jonathan M — Google review
I genuinely can’t believe this hotel carries the Ritz-Carlton name. The property is tired in every sense: outdated décor, worn furnishings, and an overall sense of neglect that makes it feel more like a mid-tier business hotel than a luxury brand. The carpets smell musty, and the entire floor reeked of cigarette smoke the moment we stepped off the elevator. Our first room was stuffy and humid, with an air conditioner that simply didn’t work. We set it to 20°C before heading out, only to return hours later to find it still sitting at 23°C. It took nearly an hour to move rooms of the language barrier and then because apparently no manager was available to approve the change. We were “upgraded” to a larger suite, but the experience didn’t improve. The temperature issue persisted (it actually went up to 23.5°C overnight), the view was worse, and it was unbearably warm to sleep. Adding insult to injury, the bedside charger didn’t even work. I woke up to find my phone at 14% after being plugged in all night. For a brand that prides itself on comfort, elegance, and attention to detail, this property completely misses the mark. The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu desperately needs a full renovation and a serious management reset. Until then, I would recommend staying anywhere else.
Ziz M — Google review
We had such a wonderful stay, thanks to the amazing staff at the hotel, especially Edison from level 1 service counter. He was warm, attentive, and always went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. We couldn’t set up Meituan on our phone and he went the extra mile to lend us his account for us to order things and even didn’t mind paying first. Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable!
Crystal C — Google review
I would like to thank Abir from Bangladesh and Kiki from China . They helped is with everything. They really understand what hospitality means and how they make guests feel at home in you super hotel. Both young people are very talented. I also want to thank Kenneth from Bali/ indonesia for helping us planning our trip in China. You are the best hotel we’ve visited in years. Compliments. Mr.Huub Dijkmans / The Netherlands

Checked in today and writing this before end of my first night here. I don't know why I booked this hotel after walking into the room. I should have booked the Niccolo or Waldorf Astoria. I guess I had wanted to experience Marriott stars booking but I don't feel much difference than other luxury hotels. I didn't even get a personalized welcome or warm welcome and now that I think about it, even though I'm a lowly Marriot gold who has access to those stars benefits anyways besides free breakfast being offered at the Ritz, food is so cheap in China already I should have skipped the brand loyalty. Staff are really nice, attentive and friendly but that can't make up for the rooms. I knew the hotel was going to be older than the other 5 star luxury options but those photos online don't really show how much it has aged. I've stayed at old school luxury hotels before and this is way older feeling. Stains all over the carpets and yellowing tile, with blackened and cracked caulking. Right when I walked in, I wanted to change the booking but alas I had already checked in. The Ritz isn't cheap either with only upper house and six senses being much more and the other 5 stars around the same or slightly below in price. Much better options I could have stayed at imo. I should have believed the mixed reviews and whoever is reading this should believe mine too. I dont know where those 5 stars come from besides the service. Anyone who has stayed at a luxury hotel would feel turned off by the room itself. Look at the clothes iron for example lol. I get room renovations are expensive but Marriott cant even upgrade what looks like a 30 year old iron and still charges this much? Feels like a run down hotel on its last legs being propped up by the great staff. Exaggerating slightly but imagine it's like going to a McDonald's with a wait staff. 4-5 star staff rating ( they didn't even give me a map or print out the benefits), 1- 2 star hotel room rating. 1 star value rating vs other 5 stars in the area. Gonna go to bed soon thinking about how I could have stayed in a nicer hotel. Uploaded photos- furniture doesnt even match, this place not just old, old is fine. This is run down. Newest thing in the room was the August 2025 Elle magazine. Edit: I was able to ask the front desk if i could checkout early and just pay for the 1 night. Ill be checking out in the morning and have already booked another hotel. 1320 yuan for one night or around $184 USD for this old hotel. Might be cheap for a Ritz but I dont care about the name, I care about the room.

Great luxurious hotel. Room was big with good views. There's a tv at the tub which was nice to have. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice facilities and the spa was very exclusive. Highly recommend this hotel

Located in Chengdu, the Shangri-La Hotel offers a sophisticated and luxurious experience for its guests. The high-rise hotel features elegant Chinese touches throughout, including deep red lacquer panels and large chandeliers inspired by Chinese lanterns. With 619 rooms and suites, including spacious options like Deluxe City View or River View rooms, Horizon Club rooms, and various suites, the hotel provides ample accommodation choices.
Location is great and hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful. Room is spacious n clean . Special mention to Vagrent, for his excellent service. Will stay here again in my next trip. Was a wonderful stay , hassle free.
Eugenie Y — Google review
Do not recommend for non-business travels. Unattentive service, most staff do not speak English, limited facilities (and pool was closed while we were there), and hotel seems to mostly focuse on business travellers. Overall, there are much better resorts in Chengdu at lower prices.
Stevan I — Google review
We stayed at a Riverview suite, which has an amazing view of the Anshun bridge, especially at night. There was a service lapse when we checked in and noted porters aplenty but no one took our bags. Everything else was wonderful and we even had kids toiletries provided for our little ones. The suite lounge offers an open bar and fantastic food in the evening.
Cora C — Google review
Nice hotel with good nightlife around, but very confusing entrances, and quite old rooms. We initially got a room, which smelled like cigarettes, theoretically on a non-smoking floor, and we were moved on a request to another one, with the view on the river (way better side!). Carpets look pretty dirty and the furniture is relatively old. Considering the price per night, I'd not choose that hotel again
Bartosz R — Google review
Some of the pros and cons are as follows:- Pros. 1. Service was good. From the time we walked in and till the time we checked out 5 days later, all were up to expectations. There were pockets of areas where I reckoned it could have been a tad better, but it may be the local culture, hence, no issues there. 2. Rooms were very good sized. We had 2 rooms i.e. 1 with a corner window while another did not. The slightly larger size for the latter made it up. 3. Water pressure of the toilet was good. Enjoyed the shower every single time. 4. Room cleanliness was top notch. Cons. 1.Breakfast was always a rush. The cafe was perpetually full making it quite an unpleasant breakfast experience. Will recommend to do breakfast outside rather. 2. Room air conditioning is not up to mark. Both the rooms felt warm even with a/c temp set to 16° and fan speed high. I was practically sweating every night! 3. Many smokers within the vicinity. I had some drinks at the lobby lounge and it was a real unpleasant experience have ciggie smoke to accompany the drinks. The smokers also converge at the main exit hence making it such an unpleasant exit or entry. The hotel shld do something about it as a/c areas shld be smoke free!

I stayed jn the hotel for almost 1 week this year. I was there last year too. It is really good. The view, the service, the massage.

Not sure what kind of hotel doesn’t provide coffee in room. So I had to order coffee delivery from a Chinese app and they didn’t deliver to room and front desk can’t place where the delivery driver dropped off the coffee

Hotel
The Buddha Zen Hotel Chengdu is a charming boutique hotel located near the Wenshu Monastery. It offers 35 rooms and suites in a classic wood-and-stone building, providing a down-to-earth atmosphere for guests. The hotel features a top-rated dining room serving traditional Sichuan cuisine, as well as an elegant tea room with guzheng music performances.
We stayed here 16 years ago and because we have fond memories of the place, we decided to come back. The hotel is good value for the price. Some areas, like bathroom, have dated a bit, but the price reflects that. The hotel is in a pedestrian area, which makes it tranquil and peaceful. Consider taking a room with a 4-poster bed: it is one of those traditional-looking Chinese ones and adds to the experience.
Estelle C — Google review
Great location with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. However, accessing the hotel is a bit challenging as cars can't drop off directly in front; the nearest drop-off point is at Jinwei Dumplings shop. The staff are friendly and offer free drinking water, with more available upon request at the front desk. The hotel has nice decoration, but the showers are small and the rooms can have a slight odor. Despite good water pressure in the shower, there's no elevator, making it difficult to carry luggage to upper floors. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9:30, though the selection is minimal but decent in taste. Check-out is at 12pm, but they're flexible and can extend it to 2pm.

Lovely hotel in the wen shu monastery area. Great location. Breakfast was satisfactory. Room was comfortable. Staff lovely. NOTE- Location on Google is INACCURATE - I've attached a screenshot of where the hotel actually is.

Great hotel and location. Love the decor, boutique hotel feel. Breakfast choices are somehow limited but taste good! Do note that there's no lift available though. But the hotel staff can assist to carry the luggages.

Very nice hotel, Environment is comfortable, service is good 👍🏻 although when we arrive lately around 11:30pm. Just don’t have lift and only stage at here. Breakfast also simple and delicious~ Near by at this area also have a lots of restaurants and gift / food stalls~
Ng Y — Google review
This hotel together with the surrounding buildings ooze old-world charm, bringing you back to the China , idk, 200 yrs ago. I loved the Buddhist context which gives you calmness and peace. The room was big with all facilities needed. It’s near Wenshu Monastery which is one of the top attractions of Chengdu. The area at night is phenomenal.
Patricia B — Google review
Utterly charming, every detail is perfect. Old time character but modern conveniences. The most beautiful room and the most comfortable bed... I do recommend splurging for the deluxe room if you can. The best customer service we have encountered in China. The restaurant is superb, if a little pricey for the area. This is in a pedestrian district so no cars = tons of little shops and no noise. The surrounding streets are easy to get lost in but you won't mind... There is so much to see! I wish I could live in this hotel. One caveat: There are no elevators, and no rooms on the ground floor, so if you are physically impaired or the Chengdu air is shredding your lungs, you might have a bad time. The porter will cheerfully whisk up your bags. He must be the most fit man in the city, like Olympian level fitness.
Katrina M — Google review
Absolutely lovely hotel, friendly staff and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is good, wifi is fast and laundry service was cheap and quick compared to other hotels, making it a great choice for those out on longer trips. It's in a quiet part of the area too, shielded by other buildings, with a really nice street filled with nice shops and restaurants. Only a minute away is wenshu monastery, providing a beautiful park area for those who like to go for a walk and get som peace and quiet. And it's only a short 3 minute walk away from the subway.

The St. Regis Chengdu is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of Chengdu's business district, offering a convenient base for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel boasts elegant rooms and suites with modern amenities, providing a sense of unparalleled sophistication. Guests can indulge in world-class dining at one of the four restaurants or unwind at the cocktail and wine bar, Decanter.
For the price it is perfect. Even though many have stated that the facility is worn due to being old, it’s still worth it, especially when compared with the Ritz-Carlton. For the similar price, this st.regis offers breakfast for Marriott members and 24h complimentary drinks to all guests via butler service.

Excellent value for money: service, location and comfort. Very spacious and clean rooms, comfortable large bed, great products offered in the room/bathroom and very friendly staff. Plus, the smell in the hotel is divine 😁. Areas for improvement: The A/C in the room is too noisy. The service level at breakfast can be slightly improved... All in all, a great stay at St. Regis, highly recommended!
Janine — Google review
The hotel rooms we had were incredibly spacious. Decor a bit dated but it was nice. Loss of a star for the hotel giving away our requested adjoining two rooms when we missed our connection. This resulted in splitting up 1:1 parent and child to rooms down the hall. The next day there was an adjoining room available resulting in me having to pack up all my stuff again to move. They apparently would pack my stuff but I don’t trust anyone else to do that. The air conditioning wasn’t very strong. Thermostat set to 18.5 but never got below 24 it feels. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with a ton of options and they were all really good. Great spread. The gym was good although it again had very weak air conditioning and it was quite hot to exercise. The indoor pool has a weird mandatory swim cap rule even if you don’t put your head underwater. But the outdoor pool doesn’t have this rule but opens up many hours later. Overall it was a comfortable stay. Great walking distance to the nice shopping area of town.
Stephanie W — Google review
Stayed from August 11–14 and had an excellent experience. The service was top-notch—warm, professional, and truly attentive. Staff were very English-friendly, which made everything smooth and stress-free as an international guest. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a wide variety of local and Western options, all fresh and beautifully presented. The dining team was incredibly courteous and efficient. Our room was spacious, elegant, and spotless, with thoughtful touches like welcome fruit and a handwritten card that added to the luxury feel. The only minor drawback was the hotel bar—the selection was quite limited, and pricing felt a bit high for what’s offered. However, this didn’t take away from the overall experience. In terms of value, this hotel offers a true St. Regis experience at a very competitive rate. It’s a fantastic choice for both business and leisure travelers in Chengdu. I’ll definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
Alex ( — Google review
This hotel was priced extremely competitively for our stay, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The location turned out to be excellent — within easy walking distance of many major sights. The service was also very good, and the entrance and lobby made a great first impression, featuring a charming ice cream cart that we really enjoyed. The rooms were a little dated, but very spacious, with impressive ceiling heights and lovely city views. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and excellent value for money. The hotel also has a few dining options, which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed.

Niccolo Chengdu is a contemporary hotel located in the fashionable Chunxi Road financial district. The hotel offers warmly decorated rooms and suites, an indoor pool, saunas, and a stylish bar. It is part of Chengdu International Finance Square and features fashion-inspired rooms with sleek design.
The best hotel that I have been stayed in China so far. Unbeatable location. Delicious breakfast. Very decent place for hotpot dinner. V professional front desk (Liza), concierge, swimming pool/ changing rooms and restaurant (Laura) staff members. Impressive. Must come back again next time for doing to Chengdu. Bravo!!

My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel. We chose it due to it’s convenient location, which you really can’t beat given it’s sitting on top of the best mall in Chengdu, plus only 5 minutes walking distance from several late night street eateries (which was life saving since we arrived past midnight). Room was sizeable, with all the modern amenities, and breakfast was sumptuous. Overall service was great. What more can you ask for?

Way better than the Ritz Carlton I originally booked and cancelled the remaining nights for. Truly felt like a luxury hotel with friendly attentive staff, bright lighting, and a great location. Amazing view of the Temple, Taikoo Li. Received welcome fruits and snacks. New toiletries were nice. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Chengdu.

I had a one day transit in Chengdu and I decided to book myself a staycation at Niccolo because they were on GHA Discovery. It was the best staycay I had in China! The staff were so detail-oriented and attentive to customer needs. After learning that I’m arriving late from the airport and that I do not drink alcohol, they replaced the welcome wine with a pot of hot tea and a fruit platter. They also left me a pillow spray from This Works and it sure helped with my jet lag. Breakfast was excellent. The chia seeds pudding and matcha muffins are my favourite. Checking in and out were done smoothly and efficiently. All the hotel staff were very friendly and professional, even the interns. Great job Niccolo Chengdu!

Nestled in the historic Kuanzhai Alley of Chengdu, the Diaoyutai Boutique Hotel offers a luxurious experience with its plush rugs and boutique linens in guestrooms. The best suites feature traditional latticework balconies and lavish bathtubs. Guests can savor Sichuan cuisine at the hotel's restaurant, adding to the chic heritage ambiance. Despite smaller TVs in spacious rooms, the hotel's fantastic location next to historical sites makes it an exceptional choice for travelers.
One of the best hotels in the world. Exceptional rooms that rival the best.

This hotel boasts a fantastic location, situated right next to 宽窄巷子. The rooms are spacious, although the TV is on the smaller side. The unique green-themed bathroom, doesn’t really fit to its Chinese design. On a positive note, the hotel's restaurant is an excellent choice for entertaining friends. The private room, complete with a sofa and tea sets, sets a delightful atmosphere. While the food is average, the overall vibe is worth experiencing. Notably, the cuisine aligns with the standard of the capital’s 国宴菜, reserved for treating important guests, adding a touch of prestige to the dining experience.

Intended to go inside for afternoon tea on Sunday. Unwelcoming bell boy (>70 yo) at the front doors showed us the way to cafe @ the ground floor with zero customer, arrogant staff members again @ the cafe. 狗犬吠聲戒,人君忠良諫. Left and went next door.

(Translated by Google) The reservation showed that it could accommodate three people, but when I arrived, I was told that it could only accommodate two people. Later, I asked my parents to stay, but the front desk said that I had to stay by myself. I changed my stay and asked if I could change to a double bed room. I was told that I would need to pay extra. The receptionist at the front desk was rude and only valued money. The fragrance provided at turndown was indeed good, but the room was too hot at night, and the staff did not explain how to adjust the air conditioner. A centipede appeared while taking a shower, which greatly reduced the stay experience. When checking out, the hotel does not provide any substantial compensation. The front desk said that I will upgrade your room next time, thank you! I'm here to clear mines. There won't be a next time. My wife and I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden Hotel, and we cannot express enough how incredible our experience was. As non-Mandarin speakers, we were initially a bit nervous about navigating Chengdu, but the hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless and enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. They helped us with everything from ordering food and drinks to arranging taxis, always with a smile and a willingness to assist. Their patience and kindness made us feel right at home, despite the language barrier. One of the highlights of our stay was the surprise upgrade to the Panda Room. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and had a unique charm that made our stay even more special. It was clear that the hotel pays attention to every detail to ensure guests have a memorable experience. The hotel’s location is also fantastic, offering a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently close to Chengdu’s attractions. We especially enjoyed the serene views, which added to the overall relaxing atmosphere. We cannot thank the staff enough for their exceptional service and genuine care. They truly made our trip to Chengdu unforgettable, and we would highly recommend the Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden Hotel to anyone visiting the city. Whether you’re a Mandarin speaker or not, this hotel will make you feel like a valued guest from start to finish. Thank you, Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden Hotel, for an amazing stay! We hope to stay soon again.

Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden is a fantastic choice, especially if you're here to see the pandas! Its proximity to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base is unbeatable, and the free shuttle service they offer makes visiting the pandas incredibly convenient. My room was spacious, clean, and really comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with a great variety of options. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, going out of their way to assist guests. While the hotel has good dining, you'll find more local food options by heading towards areas like Chunxi Road, which might require a taxi or a bit of a journey, as the hotel is within a larger park area rather than a bustling city center with many immediate shops.
Prathan T — Google review
Sleep, feast, and pandas. Civilization at its peak. Room? Quiet and cozy, the kind of comfort that makes you forget you once lived among ordinary mortals. Breakfast buffet? Massive. A glorious battlefield of options. You could spend half an hour just deciding between pastries and dumplings. Everything tastes great, nothing feels cheap, and the coffee might actually restore your faith in mornings. Location? Excellent. The panda research center is close enough to stroll back from — if you sneak through the east employees exit — but to enter you’ll need to go to the south gate a couple miles away. Good excuse to burn off the buffet. Verdict: Fantastic place to recharge before or after your daily panda worship.

Perfect hotel if you are visiting the Panda Park as the park is under 10 min drive from hotel. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to the Panda Park at certain times. Very nice rooms and great food. Super kind and competent English speaking staff who helped me find my way from the airport to the hotel and described this in a lot of detail. Thank you, Nicole!

Grand settings everywhere: at the spacious lobby, at the lift area, at the dining atrium, etc. Art pieces (and copies of real, famous ones) are generously displayed here and there. Filipino band is funny and professional enough to play every evening even to an empty audience. Gym is sparse but well maintained. Indoor (heated) swimming pool has frequent water quality checks proudly on a display board. It's evident this hotel tries very hard to please. Food is generally agreeable, but it's best to stick to Chinese cuisine. I ordered room service one time for US tenderloin steak, medium well, but it came cold and undercooked. I swear I felt unwell after for a day. Front desk staff speak good English. But when ordering room service, it's best to just quote the item number on the menu. Very far from city center, but close to panda center. Ppl smoke everywhere here, get used to it!

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Absolutely amazing! Spent 8 wonderful nights here and from the minute we arrived the staff could not do enough for us. Free upgrade to panda suite, surprise Birthday cake in room on arrival back from panda base, gifts and wine and flowers on our last night. Staff polite, friendly and helpful. Clean rooms and the most comfortable king size bed ever. Huge selection of buffet style food. Stayed in many hotels and this is the best. Cannot fault it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent stay at Crowne Plaza Chengdu City Center! Fantastic location, right in the heart of the city with everything easily accessible. The room was comfortable, clean, and had a great city view. Special thanks to Mr. Shawn at the reception for being very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. His warm hospitality made our visit even better. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chengdu!

This hotel is well located, right in the heart of Chengdu, which makes it easy to get around. One of the highlights was the indoor pool—clean and well-maintained—but do note that wearing a swim cap is mandatory. If you don’t bring one, it’ll cost you 40 yuan to buy it, which felt a bit unnecessary. Our room was large and clean, but definitely dated—the style and furniture looked like something out of the late 1990s or early 2000s. That said, it was functional and comfortable enough for our short stay. If you're looking for convenience and don’t mind older decor, it’s a solid option.
Josué G — Google review
A disgrace to the IHG properties! Do not recommend. Rooms were very dated, carpets were filthy, wall paper was peeling off. Take your money and spend it on a newer well maintained hotel. Rooms look nothing like the pictures. We had checked in at 9pm. The workers were doing tear down for an event and using the passenger lifts holding up traffic. Are they no lifts for operations purpose?? Worst, they were smoking in the building so the whole lift lobby reeked of smoke.
HS T — Google review
The room looks nothing like the pictures. The carpet is filthy. Wallpaper coming off, and you can hear people next door talking and people walking on the corridor. It’s shabby and such a mood killer. The cupboard is dusty. I don’t even dare to use the towel. It has this suspicious yellow stain. I still have another night in this hotel. I cannot wait to go home. The location is strategic but i guess it’s better to stay in newer hotel with a little bit of walk to the shopping center.
Boba L — Google review
This hotel may look impressive from the outside, but the moment you check in, the illusion fades quickly. The interior is old, poorly maintained, and feels downright dingy. From the worn-out carpets to the dated furniture and musty smell, everything screams neglect. I've been to places and mostly I stay in crowne. This got to be the worst of all lot. I regret staying in this hotel. I can't wait to check out.
Miare T — Google review
Really bad rooms. Extremely dated and dirty. Lack maintaining, everything was old and worn out. Breakfast option was poor. Room reeked of cigarette smoke, and I saw people smoking in non smoking areas. Poorly managed too, there was a huge tear down happening, large equipment etc moved in and out of where we were checking in. Lack of basic safety for guests.
Hui M — Google review
Hotel very clean, hotel staff very friendly. Breakfast is buffet style, more choices of local delights. Walking distant to opposite Chunxi Shopping district. Highly recommended.
Irene L — Google review
Very old hotel, surrounding reasonably maintained, however, needs better upkeep- carpets need to be shampooed on changed . Many rooms have strong cigarette smell even though they are non-smoking rooms. Breakfast buffet is mediocre- many items not replenished if one comes late, eg. After 8.30am. Food quality needs to improve. The only good point is the location in the city centre.

Fantastic hotel! The rooms are very clean, and the staff are consistently courteous and helpful. The location is excellent — just a few steps from Luomashi Metro Station, which made getting around the city super convenient. The hotel has great facilities, and a big plus: if you book directly through their website, you get free late check-out — a huge bonus if you have a late-night flight. I can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely stay here again!

Rooms: I've stayed in some four-star hotels that felt more comfortable than this 5-star. It's quite old and there's a musk in the air that causes me to sneeze. No dehumidifier given too. Overall it's not bad but could be better. There are plenty of pillow choices but the default pillows lack volume. Feels more like a 4-star. Service: I like the free snacks and drinks. The staff is pretty helpful too. Location: Quite central

I had a wonderful experience overall. The staff were warm, professional, and always ready to help. And also allowed me to check in earlier and upgraded my room. Special thanks to 小潘 at the front desk for being so helpful and patient during check-in — she really made us feel welcome. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, with a comfortable bed, fast Wi-Fi, and a beautiful city view. Housekeeping did a great job each day, and I especially liked the little touches like bottled water and premium toiletries.

I recently completed a week-long staycation at the Dorsett Chengdu, and I am compelled to share my outstanding experience. As a first-time visitor to China, I was initially quite overwhelmed, but the hotel's incredible team made me feel genuinely welcomed and supported throughout my entire stay. The level of service was consistently impressive across every department. The reception staff were exceptionally patient and warm, providing clear answers to all my questions. The doorman was also notably helpful, assisting me with booking taxis on multiple occasions. What truly stood out was the staff's dedication to communication. While we occasionally faced a slight language barrier, every employee I interacted with, especially the waitstaff in the restaurant, demonstrated remarkable patience and a sincere desire to understand and assist me. The hotel itself was excellent—clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. However, it was the human touch from the entire team that made my trip so memorable and positive. I would highly recommend the Dorsett Chengdu to any traveler and will not hesitate to book here again.

Nestled in the vibrant Jiuyan Bridge Bar Street Commercial Area of Chengdu, Mrs Panda Hostel offers a delightful and convenient stay. The hostel boasts excellent service and top-notch facilities such as 24-hour room service, complimentary Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and a laundromat. Situated near the metro and the Giant Panda Research Center, this friendly establishment is favored by backpackers and foreign travelers.
Honest accommodation Mrs Panda Hostel- we stayed there 2 times and both of our stayings were events free! The hostel is CLEAN, the sheets are white and ironed, good beds and mooshy pilows, extra blankets on requests, toiletries in the room, also! We prefered the duble room with shared bathroom for 2 reasons: 1. Rooms with bathrooms have less natural light than we like (our preference) and 2. Because the shared toilets ARE EXTRA CLEAN! (Our standards). There is a service lady who s always there although you never notice her into toilet area! Another thing: the toilets are never busy even though they are shared between 14 rooms. So, for our 14euros/ night we had great service! The staff is awasome (even for high demand clients), English speaking and very helpful considering how many travellers are asking for their translating services, bill, food, laundry, tours etc. Tipping the personnel is a perfect way to thank them for hard work! My personal preferance for this place is the self satisfied male cat, Boss, whos the rightfull owner of this hostel! He lies everywhere and any human gives him the amount of love he permits. All in one: great location, good resting & superior cleaning facilities, great services, great value for money.

Comfortable hostel with a very friendly staff. There is a large common area which is nice to relax, work, or meet other people. The food at the hostel is decent for the price. The location is really nice, right near the river, and within walking or biking distance to most everything in the city.

Great hostel. It's almost like a hotel, but it's a backpacker. Breakfast options are great. Just book it in advance. Its walking distance to many things, and its opposite the lake which is great. Caters very much for English speaking and the backpackers are mainly English speaking.

It's a hostel with expensive rooms. They have paper-thin walls made it impossible to sleep. You could every neighbor talking in their rooms and every morning I would wake up with a Chinese person shouting. The internet speed also was awful - barely managed to get connected. Plus sides: It's clean and in a good location

we stayed at this hostel during the national week in china. it was the first time we slept in an inn. we could have our rooms and that went well. the only big problem we had and not least was when booking trips to see the big Buddha. the tour was awful !! the trip was very expensive, 700 yuan which is a big budget even if you were on vacation. we thought we could have a rest with a guide, a driver to enjoy the day. it happened the opposite! already the driver was driving very badly and the guide spoke very poor English. the guide even brought a friend to him to progress in English but that's not our problem. the day starts very badly because the boat on which we had boarded had to last 40 minutes to see the Buddha but it lasted only 10 minutes. the excuse was that it was national week in China, but that's not our problem. we paid a lot for this excursion. in the afternoon, the guide took us to the city! it was awful! We paid 700 Yuan to see only 10 minutes the Buddha while we came to see him and we spent most of the afternoon in the city can. In the evening a man from the hostel did not want to know anything by giving a clearing that it was not his fault. but it's not ours either. we paid for something we did not get. On top of that it was not pleasant when we had one of the worst days of our life. Being in China as a tourist I do not recommend to anyone this experience that will disgust you hostels can serious. to avoid!
Lou H — Google review
This is quite a nice little place that is popular with backpackers / foreign travellers. The staff were lovely and friendly and willing to offer out advice. You can arrange day trips, half day trips or nights out from the front desk. This included a days tour working at a panda sanctuary, sight seeing or the local chinese theatre plus more. Plenty of drinks available from the front and there is a games room and TV room to relax and socialise in. The rooms are what they are, they're shared along with the bathrooms but cheap enough to not worry about it. If you are looking for something on a budget, dont mind sharing and want to meet new and interesting people - this place is definately worth a stay. They do have a relationship with the traffic hotel next door so if you want something more private and dont mind paying a little more, then that would be worth checking out instead. I stayed at the traffic hotel but still came to Mrs Pandas to eat, drink and socialise.

Do NOT wash your clothes here as the washing machines are filthy. When we used washing machine 1 our clothes came out with brown, squishy bits on them and a LIVE maggot. When we asked the staff for help and an explanation, they did not seem concerned at the lack of cleanliness and just offered another free wash in the other machine, which had a dirty filter. Most places in China offer free washing but it was ¥6 per wash, ¥1 for a small packet of detergent, and ¥13 for the dryer. The room was fine, beds on the hard side but okay and the windows had great sound proofing but the door seemed to have none. I could clearly hear people from the lounge talking in the room. The bathroom was okay as well although it seemed a bit primitive and I couldn’t tell if the grout was black, dirty, mouldy, or a combination of all 3. Aside from all that the location is great and very close to the metro.

I have no idea why this place is rated so highly. It’s super run down and dirty. Looks like it’s been about 10 years since they last took pictures and since then it’s gone down hill. Couldn't hear the other rooms or any noises , so for me that's an A+ (5/5) . 8. 5/5 stars without a doubt. 9. The knew it was my birthday and they gave me a birthday present which that makes this place outstanding.

I stayed here back in November 2024. At that time, I noticed the location on Google Maps wasn’t 100% correct — but honestly, I’m not that good with maps in Chengdu, so I didn’t update it. The hotel is really beautiful. Outside, it looks like a traditional Chinese building, but inside, it’s super modern and high-tech. The location is also great — right in the city center. You can easily walk out to find food or visit places nearby, like Wenshu Yuan Monastery. The staff were very nice and helpful too. At first, I only booked one night because I was planning to continue my trip to Xiaojin and visit Mount Siguniang (Four Sisters Mountain). But after I came back from the mountains, I decided to stay here again. I loved everything about it — the location, the stylish interior, the service, and even the food, which was delicious and suited Thai tastes really well.

The hotel is exceptional. I stayed in a single room for 3 nights. The decoration, the design, the quality of equipment, the toilet and shower were far beyond my expectations, including high quality toiletries. You find bottled water (2), all-in-one instant coffee (2) alongside the kettle, replaced daily. And on your arrival, you find some nice selection of snacks, candies and fruits in your room. And a lighter selection is available at the reception all day. The breakfast is open buffet for 6 days, changing slightly each day with some special dish, and it includes good quality fresh coffee too, butter, bread, milk, flakes, and local dishes and fruits for sure. If you are not good with chopsticks like me, they have a lot of fork and knife. For Sunday, you need to check among 8 fixed selections on Saturday. It will be ready exactly on the time you asked for. The English level is higher than big business hotels, and it eases all process during your stay. The manager, she is always on her duty, very kind and helpful. Location is great, just in downtown, in 5-7 minutes walking distance to Wenshu Monestary and the metro station. The wifi connection is stable and fast. My two Chinese colleagues stayed for 2 nights too. They were first suspicious about my choice, recommended regular big business hotel but after seeing the hotel, they enjoyed it and admitted that this was a great choice. Overall, great experience and I will definitely prefer Xinshu Garden Inn for my future stays.

We had a great stay here! The hotel is located in a beautiful area, close to the subway, with many gift shops and street food stalls nearby. The staff in particular is very friendly and fluent in English. They helped us book our day trips and a great Chinese opera show.

I was impressed by how attentive, helpful and professional the staff was. Visited in December 2023 and it was unexpectedly cold, so they provided some warm jackets. The hotel si fully refurbished and it has everything you need and more (including intelligent toilet seats) — the Google photos are old, before the refurbishment….everything looks much nicer and modern now. We had a twin room and the beds were huge. Everything was suuuper clean, the location was amazing andI would stay here again!

Note: Xishu Garden Inn has shifted to a new venue with effect from Oct 2023. Address in Chinese: 成都市青羊区酱园公所街9号附2号。address in English: No.9-2.Jiangyuan Gongsuo Street, Qingyang District, Chengdu City. From the day (mid night) we checked in i have found every staff from this hotel is friendly, cheerful and indeed very helpful. They are also very thoughtful when making logistic arrangement eg one staff accompanied both my wife and I and walked, took a short bus ride and brought us to the Sichuan Opera House. She even mindfully advised how to take our return journey back to hotel after the show. Next, the restaurant at 6th floor serves a good variety of menu, ranging from western to Japanese and more importantly the menu clearly states vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. I was lucky to have met their consultant Mr Sim who explained to me how particular the kitchen purchase meat and vegetables and prepare the food. In short, i love the meal. Thanks to Mr Sim who helped us to claim back RMB100 from Jinli ( where i bought entrance tickets by mistake but not utilised). He cycled all the way to get it done. This is exceptional service which I must salute and give him credit. This hotel is only about 20 minutes drive from airport, walking distance to MRT station, Wide and Narrow Alley (宽窄巷子),People's Park, etc. There are lots of restaurants next to the hotel. Some even operates till midnight. This morning we reported that the ventilating fan in the bathroom not working. This afternoon when we are back, the fan is working already. I must congratulate to everyone, from Sophie whom I communicated for the reservation, to everyone ( all sweet young girls) at the counter, the restaurant staff and Mr Sim. And, i would come back again in Oct with 9 other friends to stay in this hotel. Recently me n my friends stayed at the new hotel in Nov 2023. Staffs are all friendly, patient, informative and professional. They provide all information you need. Excellent customer service skill. The room was so clean. More spacious than what I thought. Location is good. Easy to find. Near to metro, Bus station is just beside. New facilities. The roof top restaurant is one of the highlight. Must visit! Well design. Good quality of foods. Moreover, there is a washing machine available. I travel in China for 3 weeks, Xishu Garden Inn is one of the best. Value for money! Highly recommended!

Great hostel, extremely helpful staff who spoke English. Lovely roof top terrace! We had a room which had a window towards the main street which was quite noisy in the evenings but was fine with ear plugs

(Translated by Google) The ten-person room is more comfortable and spacious than the six-person room. But the only and fatal drawback is that this place is more friendly to smokers? The management will not stop smokers, and people may be smoking in the lobby, toilets, or even in the rooms. People who want to stay need to seriously consider this disadvantage. In addition, transportation here is quite convenient. It can be used as a central point to travel to various scenic spots. The bathroom in the room is also clean and bathing supplies are provided.

The third Desti I've stayed at, this alike all the others is comfortable, conviently located, nice common areas and has helpful staff. However, this one has a serious smoking problem. Cigarette butts throughout the bathrooms, even in the showers, felt like I was inhaling second hand smoke my entire stay. I'd like the staff to be more proactive to remove this habit to accommodate non smoking guests.

Hostel
Located in the heart of Chengdu, the Chengdu Local Tea Hostel Poshpacker is just a short walk from Chunxi Road Station, providing easy access to the city's main attractions. The hostel offers various complimentary activities such as Chinese paper cutting workshops, dumpling and hotpot parties, and Sichuan opera shows. Additionally, it is conveniently situated within walking distance of Jiuyanqiao Bar Street and Xin Nan Men bus station.
Just to the right of Exit D at Xinnanmen Station you'll find the Local Tea Hostel - zip up to the 5th floor and find yourself in an eclectic venue with a Playlist to match. LTH Poshpacker was a wonderful for my first foray into China. A reception headlined by a very helpful & detailed cast allowed me to explore and enjoy with very little resistance. May, the LTJ's tour coordinator was solid, super helpful and very patient. Jack was a just great, helped me with food, recommendations, recs' upon my return, historical knowledge and even helping me book or delegate with operators. The property is walking distance from many attractions and since the station is right there... You have access to the rest of the city, even the far out sites, including TFU if you are arriving or departing from there. Chengdu is incredibly efficient with infrastructure you're in for a treat. The room itself was great. I love the fact that a comforter is provided even if it's a warm climate. The bed - super comfy, the bathroom was small but functional. Great wifi throughout. I'd only suggest some kind of diffuser as my room had a light but consistent sewage scent - and maybe instructions on how to navigate the IPTV 🤣 Thank you very much LTH - everything I needed and some things I didn't know I needed as you made my first splash into China an unforgettable one ✨

Great place. Happy I chose here. I was only here for a few nights. Location is good for me, I like walking, but if you don't want to walk the metro station is right outside the front door. Staff were really nice and helpful. The room was basic but certainly OK. The heating had to be left on all the time as it was cold outside, although it never really became too hot in the room, it was nice to get back in the evening and come into a warm space. China seems to have a very 'outide' culture! Could stay again. EXIT D at Xinnanmen!!! It's NOT where it says it is on Google maps and they won't let me edit the location. It is located on Xinnan Road at the end of Xinnan Bystreet.
Kelvin W — Google review
The location on Google maps is not showing accurate as of this review, it is located 1 block south of the river on Xinnan rd next to Xianmen (sp) metro station. It's a very convenient location as walking along the river is a very lively and beautiful part of Chengdu with awesome nightlife. We really loved our stay in one of the private rooms. It's technically a hostel but had very laid back hotel vibes. Was very clean and the cleaning staff were incredibly friendly and thorough. Insulation might be on the thinner side so I could see noisy neighbors potentially being an issue, fortunately we had none during our 5 day stay. The coffee/tea shop is also delicious! Would stay here again in our next visit to Chengdu.

************************************** LOCAL TEA HOUSE Hotel is a GREAT place to stay. It is also an EXCELLENT PLACE from which to stage many short journies. Example: I stayed at Local Tea House for 2 days left some of my luggage in their Safely locked storage room and traveled 1.5 hours to Leshan Giant Buddha, returned, stayed 2 more days and visited San Xing Dui the mysterious Masks/relics museum of the Ancient Shu Culture, then 2.5 hours to Chongqing to visit the famous Dazu Rock Carvings and back to local Tea House for a day and then a 3 hour train ride to Xian to see the Terracotta warriors. I received so much assistance from May (and Andy) and the others at the reception! Staff are AMAZING...world class customer service! May helped me arrange all of my: train, hotel, and site tickets...she is AMAZINGLY Patient and Knowledgable... and happy to share! Every recommendation May made or arranged worked out Better than I could have hoped! Everything was: Clean, Safe, Efficient, and Affordable! I had a culture shock experience in Chongqing and reached out to Andy for some cultural respect knowledge and the reply I received was much more profound than I had expected. Instead of only personal opinion, Andy sent me traditional Chinese wisdom from Confuscious and Lao Tzu which was Petfectly appropriate...thanks Andy! ALL of the staff are sweet and always willing to help. The location of local Tea House is also Superbly Convenient: subway station "Xinnanmen" is just outside their door, high speed train stations are 20 minutes by subway, tourist bus station to San Xing Dui is a 8 minute walk straight up the road, airport 35 minutes by train, banks to change money 5 minutes by taxi or subway, shopping and good healthy local restaurants are just around the corner 1 minute walk or less, high end shopping, coffee shops, and fast food 8 minutes walk (same location as bus to San Xing Dui), and all city sites are easily accessible from the "Xinnanmen" subway station. Local Tea House has a hip, family safe, back packer look and feel. Rooms are: modern clean and spacious and beds....big and comfy! If I return to Chengdu...I will only stay at Local Tea House...oh yeah, ...and the staff just took Fine Professional Barista lessons and installed a new Espresso machine! Yummm! And...they have a customer use washing machine and dryer! You love them! Advice....if you are traveling without a guide....make sure you book ALL museum and site tickets Days in advance!
