Hotel
Nestled in the charming coastal town of Mahahual, Aquastar Unique Hotel & Apartments offers a delightful blend of comfort and convenience for travelers seeking a beachside escape. Just steps away from the stunning Mahahual Beach, this Mediterranean-style hotel features no-frills rooms that provide breathtaking sea views and some even come with private plunge pools. Guests can unwind by choosing between two inviting outdoor swimming pools or explore the area on rented bicycles.
We have very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Located on the beach with a great little pool we have been able to bask in the sunshine. Ramsy has been above and beyond for us. He has remembered our drinks and food orders, he has helped us navigate the area, and has given us to many tips to help us enjoy it all.
Kim M — Google review
While this is probably the best hotel in Mahahual, I personally don't like the Mahahual "strip" - we booked the pool room (family trip - 2adults 1kid), the adjacent pool room was blasting music, the restaurant was blasting music, accosted constantly by people trying to sell you stuff. This is a "cruise ship stop" - food was average at best - they aren't expecting return customers. The service staff are all exceptionally nice - but they also should have realized that the place was "jet plane decible level" 😆 You can do better! We left a day early and they politely refunded the day we didn't use.
JD U — Google review
We stayed 2 nights here in this isolated beach town. Cruise ships come to dock and the clientele can be annoying but they don't stay long before they are herded back on their ship and moved on. The staff here were super friendly and accommodating doing everything to make sure we were comfortable. Manuel who works the front desk was especially excellent and made sure our stay here was top notch. Even the maintenance man was helpful and friendly! This town of mahahual is mostly local tourists aside from the cruise boats so expect to be emersed in Mexican vacation culture. The ocean suffers from that brown sea weed that seems to be plaguing the Caribbean the past few years and here in mahahual they are trying their best to keep it at bay with barriers about 100 metres out. We recommend this hotel .. restaurant food is good, pool is nice and the room was very comfortable and luxurious.
Passport F — Google review
Mahahual is a small town. If I were 25 years older this place will be perfect. Music, drink, beach. (For me was a fly-fishing stop to Xcalak) If you are a fly fisher, bring your rod or contact the guide at the malecon, you will find some bonefish to target. In Mahahual you can enjoy the sun rise and the moon rise too.
Ricardo R — Google review
We did not stay the night but instead purchased a day pass for the family to use both available pools. We received friendly front desk service. We did not pay the extra for the food and drinks as there is no advantage as you need to pay the difference if you spend more than what you paid up front. Regardless, we had enjoyable poolside service for food and drinks and simply paid the tab at the restaurant. Both pools were fairly clean and the location is quite amazing. Great view from the rooftop pool. It was a great way to spend the day.
Mario C — Google review
This hotel was an absolute blast! The views and indoor jacuzzi are a real experience!! Definitely worth every penny spent here. The hotel staff was super friend and attentive and the restaurant was amazing too! I can’t remember the name of the bartender that works nights but he was bringing my food straight to the jacuzzi, I didn’t even have to go to the door. That is a excellent service there!!! The food was AMAZING!! Very fresh and well cooked. I have to say that this place surpassed my expectations!! 100% recommend!!
Ramon R — Google review
Decorations are stunning! Pool on the roof and pool in front of the beach. Staff is super attentive and caring. Wake up early to catch the sunrise from the roof and below on the dock. Rent bikes to bike the path behind the hotel right along the beach. My room was an economy room. Didn’t have a fridge but the hotel offers accommodations. Oh and water didn’t get super hot but it was so hot outside that it was refreshing.
Noelle C — Google review
Awesome hotel maybe the most comfy but staff is so slow and they need to put attention to costumers specially restaurant. They literally prefer to finish their lunch and after that take our order. Views are the best. This is the first best option if you are looking for a good and secure place. AC works good and cold. Hot water takes to long to get into the room. Parking lot is secure and big.

Noah Beach Hotel & Suites is a stylish beachfront retreat in Mahahual, offering chic accommodations with some rooms boasting stunning sea views. The hotel features a restaurant and beach club, providing guests with the perfect setting for relaxation and enjoyment. With its prime location on the pristine sands of Mahahual Beach, this extraordinary escape offers warm hospitality and luxurious suites. Guests can indulge in onsite massages, take in breathtaking views from the terrace, and enjoy complimentary wireless internet access.
The view, making every morning sunsets feel magical. The service from the staff was exceptional – friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, Oswaldo is great, very attentive and helpful. The hotel’s facilities were beautifully maintained, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere throughout. The beach was pristine, with no seaweed, and the water was so calm, almost like a swimming pool – perfect for relaxing. The check-in process was excellent, smooth, and quick. The location of the hotel is perfect – it’s close to great restaurants, dive centers, and other local attractions, making it convenient to explore the area. The on-site restaurant below the hotel was also excellent, offering delicious food and a great dining experience. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful beach getaway!
Sara R — Google review
The hotel looks nice but feels cheaply built and basic. Walls are very thin, so you can hear other guests, and the structure doesn’t feel sturdy. Our balcony was mostly blocked by palm trees, and the smell of sulfur from rotting seaweed made it unpleasant to sit outside. The room had several issues: balcony doors didn’t lock, the toilet cover wouldn’t stay up, and the shower leaked. Cleaning staff were kind, but reception felt indifferent and unwelcoming. The beach club access is limited to chairs and swimming, but the water was murky with algae and dead fish. Restaurant food was good but overpriced. Outside, vendors are very persistent, and private businesses have taken over sections of the beach, which was surprising. Snorkeling revealed only a few fish and gray coral—nothing like years ago when turtles and jellyfish were common. Overall, overpriced and underwhelming.
Ambar A — Google review
It’s probably one of the best hotels there and it has a lot of potential. First we got lower-class room, which was much smaller and missed some advertised facilities. We had to argue and show the proof from booking to get the room we booked. Then we got bigger room but still had some issues. Shower head was broken and it was difficult to wash long hair, bathroom smelled badly, linens were with stains and the promised minibar was missing. Rooms were in ok condition, but needed maintanace.
My T — Google review
The rooms are decent for the price and they do have AC. The beach outside of the hotel is great and their staff is very friendly. The front desk reception was excellent and they let us check in earlier since we arrived earlier than we expected.
Leonel O — Google review
It was a great experience in my opinion. I myself was surprised for what I saw, it was really expect the unexpected. Recommend 100% although be mindful that it is a remote place so long travel and drive should be planned accordingly. I mostly travel solo but this place can accommodate a big group/family trips. It sucks that around this time July 22, 2025 you wont be able to enjoy the beach due to seaweed that were brushed up ashore and made the ocean look dirty. The community cleaned up a little and made a netted gate to have a pool size swimming area for their guest but overall it was one of the best stays I had here in Quintana Roo.
Angelica E — Google review
Wonderful small upscale hotel located at the end of the Malecon away from the crowds. The Beach Club has comfy loungers and is ocean front with nice sand/water. We ate several meals at the restaurant and on the beach and the food was excellent with unique presentation. The waiters were great...friendly and ready to please. Thank you to Tona, Angel, Gustavo and many others. Highly recommend a visit!
Heather E — Google review
We spent two wonderful nights at Noah Hotel in Mahahual and absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. One of the best parts is that the hotel is right on the beach—perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun with your feet in the sand and the ocean breeze all around. It’s the kind of place that makes it easy to unwind. The hotel’s restaurant, Malecón 21, deserves a review of its own. The food was absolutely delicious, so much so that we didn’t even feel the need to explore other places to eat. We were on a mission to try as many things on the menu as possible, and everything we ordered was outstanding. From the fresh seafood to the unique flavors and great presentation, it exceeded our expectations. We are already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a peaceful beach getaway with amazing food and warm hospitality.

We had a wonderful experience. We stayed in a spacious two-bedroom room with a huge terrace that had stunning beach views. The location couldn’t be better—just the malecón, a walkable street, separates the hotel from the beach. The staff was super friendly and helpful, with a special shoutout to Darina and Maria. Highly recommend this place!

Amazing hotel and location. Dario was super accommodating and made my stay super enjoyable pleasant and comfortable. Along with the other staff, the hotel exceeded all of my expectations. The hotel is in a perfect, safe, convenient, quiet location. Also who can beat a private beach?!?!?
Dr. J — Google review
This hotel is just south of town and far enough away from the cruise port that it is quiet and peaceful. There is no restaurant on site any longer but all of the restaurants and shops are within a short walking distance. The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, rooms had air conditioning and potable water is provided for guests on site. We would stay here again!
Stephanie P — Google review
Very disappointed. Noisy rooms just above reception (#3), we could hear all conversations and music play. The service was the worst: inattentive and rude lady when we asked for coffee/bread during breakfast time. She said they ran out of coffee and will have to pay for the one she offered. The dining place was also dirty both times we went there that same morning (see photo). They have a courtesy breakfast with litteraly 3 slices of bread and some Heinz jam and butter with a toaster. It does not cost much to add some watermelon or things like that when most of the hotels in the region offer simple but tasty breakfast.
Pierre-Antoine S — Google review
My wife and I were craving pizza and this place was a short walk from our hotel so decided to give Luna de Plata a try We opted for a pepperoni pizza - It was pan style so the crust was a bit thick with crispy edges, but the center was more doughy. While the pizza was enjoyable, it was pretty average The service was good and friendly and this restaurant is a decent option for a casual Italian meal Prices were a bit expensive - we paid $1400 including tip for bruschetta, pizza, and a bottle of wine

My girlfriend and I stayed here only one night. Nice hotel with a strong eco-friendly vocation.(Dirty toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet but in a trash can and all soaps are biodegradable) Right in front of the sea, it is run by friendly staff who are always available for anything. The rooms are large and have all the necessary comforts. You can use the beach chairs that are from the hotel, which is located slightly outside the "center" (Mahahual is so small that it is a 2 min walk) At breakfast you can choose from 5 plate options plus a coffee and juice. Good stay all in all.

I stayed at this property with my daughter a while ago and It was very quaint cozy and clean. The ocean is steps away. Safe comfortable great food! Very lovely staff. The owners love the guests, and their italian specialties are great! Thank you for a wonderful vacation. I will be back ♥️

While visiting Mahuhual came here for dinner. This place is a little walk away from the main are of the malecón but not too far. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was huge it was more than enough for two people. The pizza was mediocre it kinda tasted like a frozen pizza that was over seasoned with Italian seasoning. We also ordered four glasses of wine and that was good. The service was just like the pizza, mediocre. Half the chairs were in the table as if they were ready to close but they didn’t close for three hours. Our waitress wasn’t the happiest of friendliest. Would I go back? Yes I would like to try something different.

Just steps away from the stunning Mahahual Beach, this informal hotel features spacious rooms adorned with delightful local accents. Guests can unwind by the outdoor pool or indulge in soothing massages right at the hotel.
I've been traveling for the past 2 weeks and stayed in three different hotels. This hotel has the best staff so far!. The kitchen is closed after breakfast but i wanted hot water for tea and the gal in the front desk was so sweet to bring me hot water in one of the patio areas.. The hotel is very nice and our room was big and clean. . It has many different decorations and a story behind each decor/ art work ect.. I will definitely stay here again.. The price was cheap!. Thai you staff!
A C — Google review
Unfortunately, there was no hot water for the two nights we were there. We asked for two double beds and got 1 double and 2 single. The pool was out of service until the day we had to leave. Unfortunately, it is rundown. It looks like it was amazing at some point in time. The staff were friendly, AMAZING. I do think they are struggling 😓
Don S — Google review
Towels and bed linens were stained and bad washed, we found a cucaracha and various insects in the room, which is fine given the place but there were huge holes under the doors leading outside and to the balcony, which doesn’t help, i didn’t have the courage to open the balcony door tho. Green water came out of the shower the first time we tried it. The location is good, breakfast was average.
Alberto P — Google review
I'll start off with the positive. This is such a cute hotel modeled kind of like an Italian Villa. The design and architecture departs from the traditional square or rectangle style rooms, hallways ect. I feel this hotel has such enormous potential to be a four star hotel but alas, it is what it is. The rooms are much larger than normal. I'm guessing maybe 700 square feet? Beds are firm which I prefer. The locally made honey shampoo and soaps are a nice touch. It's not super luxurious (ie fixtures and what not) but it's adequate for the price. I can't say many positive things about the staff. They're not rude per-se, they just don't seem to care a whole lot about doing their jobs so don't expect smiling, happy staff to greet incoming guests and to welcome you to breakfast. They advertise "free parking" but they don't even have a parking lot, only street parking. That's a little disingenuous. It's like saying "free refreshments" and offering water. For people like me riding motorcycles, knowing our bikes are secure is a very big requirement and parking on the street is the last place we want to leave our bikes. Thankfully the manager let me park my bike right near the front door off the street. I would stay here again because I didn't have a bad experience really, I just think they could do a whole lot better with a little bit of management restructuring, staff incentives and maybe some upgrades here and there.
Baja M — Google review
Room really dirty, towels and bed linens were dirty. Really unsuggested.
Davide S — Google review
Wonderful hotel with an eclectic flare. Clean and comfortable. Only stayed one night but the facilities seemed great! Plus excellent location! Especially great considering we paid the same price as another place at the end of the town that was quite basic (shared bathrooms) and more like a campsite. Plus the staff were friendly and there is a cute cat.
Amber K — Google review
Great location, nice small hotel with lots of character, some small details, like u only get two bath towels. It may or may not be a big deal to you.
Amador R — Google review
The rooms are nice, and have good Air Conditioning and comfy matresses. Balcony area. Theres also a pool for if you dont like salt water one in the Lobby and Upstairs. There is a restaurant there and the food is good. Enjoyable experience. Its close to the beach and the restaurants. Very Accesible in Mahaual.

El Fuerte Beach Resort is a charming beachfront getaway located in the heart of Mahahual, just a scenic drive from Chetumal and Tulum. This delightful resort features air-conditioned accommodations with stunning sea views, including terraces that invite you to soak in the beauty of the Caribbean. Guests can enjoy modern amenities such as 32-inch flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms, while some rooms even come equipped with kitchenettes for added convenience.
Excelente little place. From the beginning they made us feel welcome. The restaurant has some of the best strong coffee. Food is delicious! Edgar, our server was wonderful. Definitely worth it.
Hector M — Google review
Easy to get to via a $4 per person taxi. We were here on a day visit. Service was ok. The beach itself is not great and there's nothing else to do. I wouldn't bring kids here again. We were constantly hounded by people selling things. Like once a minute. It was very hard to relax. Several would stand directly in front of us and wouldn't move, which was frustrating as we were trying to keep an eye on our kids playing at the beach. Overall it was ok but we wouldn't visit here again.
Matt D — Google review
The Location was Great, nice view, just next to the beach and a lot of restaurants around However the hotel was super noisy You could hear every word from your neighbours, it felt like the baby was crying just directly next to you Shower with no water pressure not possible to wash your hair properly
Lisa H — Google review
Wanted to try a different resort so we went to El Fuerte. That cruise port is HUGE now and there is no signage to the taxis (go to the pools and keep going. We booked through shoreexcursioneer, which I don’t recommend as transportation wasn’t included (someone else booked through Expedia). We had to wait at least 20 minutes for a taxi because it was just 2 of us. We must have been the last to arrive – we were right by the water, on a slope, near the opening to the beach - not a great spot, but we were in shade. The place was packed by the Allure and Adventure. The food was very good, we didn’t try to eat what they provided – 1 appetizer and 1 main each. We both only had mains. The water area was small. The free paddleboard had a leak. Service was so-so – we had Irving, who tried, but he had too many people to serve food/drinks to. Plus you could eat in the restaurant and he served you there too, so he was split between beach and restaurant. There were several times that we didn’t receive drinks or ice. You’ll want a cup of ice with your soft drinks. There was a constant parade of vendors who were very respectful when you said no. Wifi only available at restaurant. Soft drinks were good and had coke zero.

We stayed at this hotel for 9 nights and it was excellent! We got upgraded to an ocean front room after the first night which was a nice bonus. It had a kitchen so we cooked our breakfasts in the room and the hotel provided anything we needed...knife, coffee maker, etc. The rooms were very clean! The staff was SUPER friendly! Many, but not all of the staff speak English. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The hotel has its own private beach which has both sun and shade. The hotel's owners were on the property which always makes a difference on how well the hotel is run. The owners are Italian, so you know the food in the restaurant is going to be excellent. We ate several meals there, which included pasta, lobster, tacos and burgers. Overall, we had an excellent experience at El Fuerte.
Ryan H — Google review
We stayed at this place a couple of days in our last visit in Mahahual. The location is perfect, they have parking space; the staff provided a good service; it was very clean, which was very important for us. Our favorite thing about the hotel is the beach chairs and the food there. We had some refreshing cocktails 🍹 and delicious food. Nachos with chicken were our favorite 😋
Danichatz ( — Google review
We loved the restaurant for a delicious lunch. Excellent staff! We visited with the owner, and we told him we will return right away to stay for a week. Right in front of the beach, too! We looked at one hotel room and it was nice. See you soon!

When we were in Mahahual 3 years ago, we stayed at El Fuerte for a week. This time, we are staying at El Fuerte for a month. The next time we return to Mahahual, we might stay at El Fuerte for up to a year ... or perhaps for the rest of our life. From our humble penthouse on the top of the fortress hotel - we overlook the village and the world's 2nd largest reef. Travelling extensively across Asia, Europe and the Americas over the last 40+ years for sun, surf and smiles, we are back again in this little idyllic jewel of Costa Maya where the warm & dry climate is as ideal as it can be. A prevalent sea breeze quietly & continually caresses this quiet village of 1,000+ residents and cleanses the place of micro organisms with its salinity while enforcing a "no fly" zone for flying insects. We have yet to swat a mosquito or fly. As they say, "There is no coronavirus here." And we understand why ... just Corona beer. Low humidity here effortlessly & quickly dries our laundry & clothes within half a day. Like Bacalar's Lagoon of Seven Colors, the water here is clean, clear and comfortably warm to soak in for hours ... and teeming with fish to keep us entertained. It is perfect for kids of all ages. Everyday, if you wish, you can have your lobster. And the seawater shrimps are the freshest and largest we have ever eaten in our life. With incoming sargasso controlled by the simple but effective use of nets offshore, the beachfront here - unlike most other places along the Riviera Maya and Costa Maya coastline - is relatively seaweed free. Almost like a castle, El Fuerte has been built to stand up to hurricanes and the tastefully designed suites are scattered around a spacious 4-storey central courtyard to maximise cross ventilation and noise insulation. The entire place is clean and well-maintained. Contrasting against the strong whitewashed walls are the softening touches of palapa roofing which provides ample shade and their delightful use of timber for the corridors and balconies. There is a treasure trove of colours & textures here: the sculptures & artwork by their resident artist (Angelo) are pleasing candy to the eyes. Trained as an architect, I find El Fuerte extremely appealing in the way it has been intelligently and beautifully conceived and designed. Much credit must go to resident co-owner & chef extraordinaire (Luca) for his experienced professional management and fine aesthetic sensibilities. You must try his tiramisu ... it is the very best in the world (really)! In our humble opinion, El Fuerte has the best restaurant in Mahahual and it is also the best place to stay in Mahahual ... thanks to Luca. Our sincere gratitude also goes out to Luca's hardworking well-trained staff for their gracious hospitality and outstanding service ... including Guadalupe (administration); Juan, Angel, Sansores & Carlos (housekeeping); Mary, Elisa & Selena (reception); Lorenzo, Benjamin, Leticia & Liz (food & beverage); his bartenders Osiris & Domingo; and his talented crew in the kitchen - Armando, Jorge, Rosario, Miriam & Pepe. Have a fabulous time!

We have had an amazing vacation here in Mahahaul. Of all the places we have dined locally this was my least favorite restaurant. The ambiance was extremely nice. The food was just ok Italian food and nothing to write home about. Of the three entrées we order the Lasagna and the Fettuccine with Chicken were probably 2 star and the Risotto was 4 stars. Compared to other local eateries they are over priced and the service was just good as well. 3 stars overall.

Absolutely fantastic overall experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere, ambiance, music and service were fabulous. I had the Picaña steak, it was cooked to perfection, accompanied by mash potatoes and asparagus (also cooked perfectly). The meal was served with a variety of warm bread in a basket. What a great restaurant to sit and enjoy the beach atmosphere and watch the waves roll in. One of the best dining establishments that Mahahual has to offer.

Some accommodations boast stunning sea views, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Guests can indulge in delicious meals at the on-site palapa restaurant, which includes breakfast for those staying in VIP packages.
It's a little pricey but worth every penny! Our glasses never went dry. The service was great! The best damn food I've had on a beach. Steak fajitas, shrimp, and octopus tacos will melt in your mouth.

Beautiful views, they provided beach chair and towels. Awesome food everything fresh even margaritas made with fresh fruit. Everyone was super friendly. Great customer service. The owner is super nice. Was a really cute cat. We are planning in coming back for a long weekend. Feel like paradise.

My experience there is best for service and food. The one minus is the water , it’s not the sea it’s a puddle 🥲 but staff is doing its best to have your vacation is going well. One huge minus its vendors- non stop!!! Super annoying. Food is amazing, cocktails are super strong I love it.
Polina V — Google review
Not my cup of tea. It’s not private, dirty public beach. Swimming in the water is gross because you’re in the midst of boats and all that implies. Pictures make the place look nice, it’s not. WiFi is terrible, constant signal loss. You are approached by vendors the second you step on the beach and the entire day. Food was okay, much better than the ship and our waitress was great! Easy transportation there and back. I would never book this again. It’s just dirty and I was hoping for something like Mr Sanchos .., zero comparison.

Recommended by Professor Melissa. Purchased our day pass for 10/21, $135 included taxi to and from cruise port. Had a wonderful time, water was great. Music was awesome. Shout out to the DJ who played two of my favorite Mexican songs. Chefs kiss to the person that prepared our meals and drinks. It was not touristy. I enjoyed the authentic of the area and did a little shopping on the strip. We will absolutely be returning. 🚢🥰

We stopped in for a few hours while on our cruise. Transportation was very easy as NBC pays for the fare. The service was great! Our waitress was very kind and attentive. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and felt like we were in paradise with the food, drinks, chairs, and pool. If we visit Costa Maya again, we will definitely come back to National!

We love, love loved our time here. Ximena was amazing. The drinks are SO good. Relaxation is unmatched. There are some vendors that walk up to you but they are very respectful and we actually got some pretty cool stuff from them. Ray band for My husband, shark tooth necklace for my son, and he got to take a picture with some lizards (which was his dream!)There was a lady there giving massages and she was SO great. We will for sure be back!
Kaleigh J — Google review
We went on a cruise and got a report for a day pass. So we did not stay overnight in a room so I can’t speak to that. However we laid on the beach chairs, swam in the little pool, ate and drank and everything was amazing. The staff was very friendly and gave great service. I would 1000% come back again!

Hotel Restaurant Maya Luna is a serene and humble resort located on the beautiful Playa Mahahual in Mexico. The simple bungalows offer sea views and private roof decks, providing a relaxing atmosphere to watch the moon rise from the sea. The property's beachfront location makes it an ideal base for diving, snorkeling, and exploring nearby jungles and ancient Mayan temples.
3 km from the village, this is a great hotel where you get peace and quiet. The road is dirt and bumpy, this is the price of being away from the crowds, but if you go slowly it is completely safe. They have a total of 5 rooms, so no one is guaranteed to disturb your peace. So this is not a luxury hotel, with hermetically sealed glass walls and 8-function shower heads, etc., you have to look for that elsewhere. The furniture is a bit old, but 100% functional and 100% comfortable! With a great and reasonably priced restaurant, there will be no unpleasant surprises on the bill here. We ate here every day in their own restaurant, and we never regretted it! The breakfast may seem a bit small, but if you need, can order extras from the a' la cart. Very nice and really helpful staff in everything. The hotel is right on the ocean, so a few steps and there is endless peace in front of you. There is a mangrove inlet about 1 km away, so it's not the turquoise water that welcomes you, but it's clean and enjoyable. There are also piles driven into the water, to observe fishing birds, always. About 1 km away from the village, there is a "small shop and camping", where if you buy, you can go into the area with a nice smile :-) you can sit on the beach, the water is bluer there, you can swim better, etc. people are nice everywhere. The only drawback is the many mosquitoes due to nature (we were in December). Baldeim would be good I recommend! Thank you for all, I hope could we go back there!

This feels like home away from home! It's neatly tucked away from the noise of the cruise crowds. An incredibly relaxing setting that I can't recommend enough if you want to just chill. The owners make you feel at home - cook for you, help you with any issues, and generally are very warm people. Will be back! P.S. Don't get scared by a few bumps on the road leading to the property some reviews are mentioning. It was actually fun to navigate them. Any modern car can handle them just fine.

Small resort of only 4 chalets right on the beach. Own terrace with hammocks and table/chairs and sun terrace on the roof. Free kayaks and life vests to borrow to get to the reef and it's wonderful eating your meals on the beach, its beautiful. Sair is very helpful and welcoming. Negatives- window nets let in mosquitoes, rooms need sprucing up and deep cleaning. Overall we loved Maya Luna and it was great value for money.
Gillian H — Google review
We spent a weekend at Hotel Maya Luna and had an excellent time. Every room is in its own bungalow and they all face the sea. You can watch sunrise right from your porch. You can also enjoy the starry sky at night on your own rooftop. The hotel is a little away from town but very easy to find. We like that it is very peaceful and quiet. Delicious breakfast is included every morning and portions are big. If you don't feel like going to town, just let Carolina know what you would like to have for dinner. We brought our dogs with us and they also had a fantastic time (what's not to like when they can play fetch all day long on the beach?!) Be sure to bring a pair of pants and bug repellent for the evening as the sun is going down.
Karin L — Google review
Starting our vacation at this place was awful. Maya Luna hotel and all its facilities needs serious maintenance and are not corresponding to the pictures shown. Stained sheets, no windows in the bungalows allowing the wind to push through the old bungalow. The room was badly cleaned, only on lamp providing light and the beds bendy soft and almost wet from the humidity. The bathroom needed serious maintenance with mold in the shower and the 1st floor terrace hadn’t been used for ages. The beach was a catastrophe and the beach furniture almost rubble. Incredible amount of algae and rubbish on the beach, and even though this is not directly the hotels fault nothing was done to clean up or putting nets in the water in order to create a bathing zone as done on other parts of the beaches in Mahahual. The hotel is further more a long way from the city center and the road to the was more than bumpy. Staff was kind and welcoming.
K D — Google review
Super clean and comfortable ocean front bungalow with great upstairs patio.Very private. Excellent staff who kept everything running flawlessly. Very good food. Wifi around the property but not inside the rooms which made it a great opportunity to disconnect for a while. Plus dogs are allowed ...and My two loved it too
Marissa B — Google review
Don't tell anybody about this place (thankfully the road is not very good = keeps the non aventurous, non ecologically minded, non interested people away) ! It was quiet, (you hear the ocean from the bedroom window - yes, you're that close to the sea), meals in the evening were very tasty. The hosts are super friendly and provide you with kayaks to go out all by yourself. The place is animal friendly. You can swim out to the reef and snorkel all day but that's not even necessary because we saw all kinds of fish come up real close to the beach. Enjoy it while you can : who knows how long this place will be the hidden treasure that it is !
Ilse B — Google review
Exceptional tranquil place right on the beach. The staff are friendly and the rooms are perfect and clean. Book a bungalow. They have private roof terraces. The food is great too. Free use of the kayaks Will come again. Loved it. Was going to stay for one night. Decided to stay for three.

We had a great time enjoying the water and beautiful beach. Waiter's were ready to fill your drinks before they were empty. Kind friendly service on a beautiful beach. They were battling a sea weed problem from all the storms. They were working on try to keep beach clean. Kudos...

WARNING STAY AWAY!!! My better half and I reserved a four night stay with this self proclaimed 4 star resort. Trust me there is nothing that is remotely close to 4 star except for the stench of foul rotting seaweed they amass on the parking lot of their property. We tried our best to tough it out but the odor was nauseating. We could not escape the stench not even in our quarters. We tried our best to reconcile with the property and we were willing to compromise but it fell on deaf ears. Please avoid this property at all costs. This is a prime example of buyer beware.
Juan S — Google review
Rooms are spacious . Shower pressure could be a bit higher . Breakfast and food is good price quality. (Pizza was not my style def.)
Frank N — Google review
Only a word can summarise this 2 days spent at Quinto Sol: disappointment. Why? 1- For a supposed 4 stars hotel, the standards are very very low, even though the receptionists are welcoming and smiling they only remind you the rules and the cost that you would need to pay to enjoy anything at the hotel… 2- The restaurant and the beach clubs are apparently separated from the hotel as you can’t put any bill on your room, moreover you have to pay only in cash which is a bit annoying in Mahahual as the nearest cash machine is far away. 3- The “waiter” of the restaurant and the beach club are even not aware of who we are as they reminded my girlfriend 2 times that if we plan on staying at the beach club for the day we must spend at least 500$ MXN. The thing is that we were guests and the beach club was hence included. 4- Breakfast was not included whilst it was mentioned when we booked on booking.com 5- The room was a bit dirty and the housekeeper turn the Air Co off during the days whereas it’s 35 degrees outside, not pleasant when you are back in your room
Gomas G — Google review
We booked through AirBnB, and our room was nothing like the listing. The room was uncared for- layers of dust on surfaces, etc. Our stay was meant to come with breakfast, but the restaurant was closed. Ultimately, the listing needs to be updated as it was misrepresented. With that said, the staff were kind and tried their best to improve our stay
Jessica R — Google review
Unfortunately I cannot put less than 1 star. The hotel is advertised as a 4 stars hotel. Even though we had to take shower with cold water. The one of the shower towels was dirty. The one of the beach towels was also dirty. The wifi was broken when we arrived and has never been fixed.

Food hit and miss. Good location. Small beach area. Courteous albeit inexpert staff. Reflects the low standards most visitors have when coming here. Do not expect top notch hospitality service and you'll be satisfied. Beautiful ocean and surrounding areas. Out of the way.
Luis Z — Google review
The dinner was very good, the weather is awesome and the beach is very quiet, its location is a good one because is near downtown. The service is OK, maybe it lacks of a little bit of aperture for events at night on the beach.

Nestled along the stunning coastline of Mahahual, Hotel Arenas offers a relaxed atmosphere with casual rooms that come complete with balconies for enjoying the sea breeze. This charming hotel features its own private beach area, perfect for sunbathing or taking leisurely strolls by the water. Guests can also unwind at the on-site bar after a day of exploring nearby attractions like Mahahual Beach and Maya Chan Beach, both just a short drive away.
Very clean and spacious room. The location is as close as you can get to the ocean. The complaints about seaweed are probably old, because they cleaned the beach every few hours. The restaurante close to the reception served amazing food at a reasonable price and were very friendly. The only feedback or suggestion to the owner of the hotel is to renovate the stairs going to the rooms. They weren't really up to date and felt quite unstable to walk on with our bags.
Anton J — Google review
Undoubtedly the worst hotel. After checking in and unpacking our clothes we went into Mahahual town to grab dinner. We later received a watsapp message stating our reservation had been cancelled followed by a picture of our packed suitcases by the reception area. After rushing back to the hotel we were told they overbooked and as we were staying only 1 night the other guests took priority. I have proof of these messages and proof of payment for the hotel. So although it could have been a great stay, unfortunately the way we got evicted leads me to write this review and forewarn every person looking to stay here. Please becareful when booking as they are clearly money driven and customer service means nothing.

This place is excellent due to its staffs hospitality, attention to detail, and accessibility. The location was also helpful in giving such a review. My family enjoyed the stay so much that one of my children was ready to relocate the entire family because of how much fun he had. I recommend staying here as the staff really makes you feel welcome and part of the family.
Miguel G — Google review
Awful service!! Rooms were dirty and had a humidity smell due to the poor maintenance on their a/c. During rains water would you come into the room through the air conditioner due to poor gasket caulking. Towels were not washed, instead they were just put in the dryer. I WOULD NOT, BY ANY MEANS advise future travelers to stay at this place. I asked for a one night refund due to those reasons and the suppose owner, who was in Chetumal responded that she would not give any refund, either partially or totally. When you pay for a service, you deserve a at least a modest service. Please avoid making reservations at this place.

Professional, warm and courteous. They pay particular close to safety and those who have trouble learning this new skill. Our ships late arrival cut short the tours duration which was the only downside.

This was my first time staying in Mahahual. I loved the location because it's very close to the town but not in a loud area and the hotel has all you need for a nice stay but there were 2 things I loved the most: super friendly staff and the food was delicious. 👌 highly recommended

Very nice and quite hotel. Very professional staff. Extremely clean and well kept. One of the better hotels in Mahahual for sure. Tip: next door is a restaurant called Casa de la langosta. Mike "owner", makes the best lobster in Quintana Roo. Tell him the viking sent you and you want the secret beach table experiance. He will set you up a table on the private beach and you will enjoy a night of food paradise!

Let's start with the positives: *Nice secure (limited) parking space under the hotel *very friendly staff *very good water-pressure in the shower *comfortable beds and pillows *good location *clean rooms * quiet location (as quiet as can be expected in a tourist zone) *great balcony And then my remarks: *We arrived to face 2 days with planned electricity cuts from 7 AM to 3 PM and nobody at check-inn bothered to inform us about this. Even the cellphones signal was gone most of the day *The hotel has solar power for water heating, so no sun, no hot water. *you get only drinking (bottled) water the day of arrival *we booked room 301 and 201 who had terrible sewer smell that built up during the night and makes you wake up with a headache. My first day I just fled the room to sit outside because it was too intens. It literally made me feel sick and I could almost taste the smell, it was thick, heavy and penetrating *due to the open structure of the building it has a great acoustics. Which is nice when it is an opera house, but it is a hotel where you want to sleep. Even on the third floor I could hear car's and car doors from the parking lot, conversations int he lobby etc. Better book a room without (the partial) sea-view, this way you are ont eh outside in the back of the hotel away from the staircase and main entrance, this might guarantee you a good night sleep and quieter rooms. *There is no coffee maker, which considering the price per room is something you might expect, just as daily bottles of water. *there is a great balcony, but no furniture, so it is totally useless. *the rooftop terrace, and swimming pool (Alberca) were always locked when we tried, we never asked why, so that is our mistake, but it is weird that it is locked, and nobody mentions that upon check-in. So the price/quality for me is way out of balance. But I had a nice stay. It was good, I used earplugs, left windows open to get rid of the penetrating sewer smell and it was nice to have a hotel with such accommodating and friendly staff. They tried to fix the sewer problem, but it never went away completely.

(Translated by Google) The rooms are spacious and very clean. The dishes, cutlery, and glasses are dirty, and it's a bit uncomfortable to use them. But in the end, the elevator is very much appreciated. The pool is bombarded with bird droppings, even in the water, which isn't very hygienic. It's a good place to stay. (Original) Las habitaciones están amplias y muy limpias. La vajilla, los cubiertos y los vasos están sucios y da desconfianza el usarlos. Pero al final se agradece mucho el que tenga elevador. (Translated by Google) It's terrible that the pool is not hot and neither are the showers. The supposed beach club is reserved for all the lounge chairs for the arriving cruise ships. The most redeeming thing was the service of the staff. It's a shame that since the owners are Italian they give preference to them instead of national tourism (Original) Está pésimo q la alberca no esté caliente y tampoco las regaderas. (Translated by Google) Very new, clean hotel one block from the sea. Spacious rooms, with AC, safe and they give you towels for the beach. Its very nice beach club includes breakfast and delicious coffee, as well as food. The beach club restaurant and reception staff are always very willing to assist you. The pool is not hot, but with Mahahual's climate you don't need it. In the mornings there is some noise in the street, the establishment in front (towards the right side) their staff gather and are laughing and laughing (But loud!, who knows why they are so happy or tired of weed 🫢) and you can hear many scooters going from one place to another, you end up waking up.

We walked into this hotel because we had serious issues with a hotel nearby. Not only did they have a room available and gave us a nice discount compared to online prices, but the staff was also super sweet and kind. The frond desk woman, Jacqueline, spoke excellent English and really calmed us down. They really turned our Mahaual experience for the better. The place is very clean and the entire hotel is very nice, new and professional. It is really luxurious compared to most other hotels in Mahaual who are often quite rustic.

Lives the experience here. Don’t be afraid to upgrade your rooms. The smallest ones downstairs are very modest and may not offer the sized bed or bedding arrangement you desire. Upgrade so you get exactly what you want! Service is brilliant and the food is very good! I’ll stay again 💯

What an amazing, relaxing stay. God himself was shining his light upon me when I chose this hotel. I was surprising my best friend for a once in a lifetime celebration - her 50th birthday cruise to Mexico. Frontier delayed, then canceled my flight so I had to drive 10 hours to Miami, fly to Cancun, hire a driver to Mahahual, book a hotel, then get a taxi to the port. If not for all that I would have lost all the money paid on the cruise because I booked within 30 days.Oh, did I mention that I missed the cruise by 20 minutes? Not actually, because it was still sitting there when I arrived. Tragic! Words cannot explain how fried I was once I arrived at that hotel. No shower in 2 days, mental basket -case, and absolutely famished. Once I booked the hotel I received a personal welcome messaged from the concierge telling me how they anticipated my arrival - what a lovely touch. The ride to the hotel was a nerve-racking 4-hour drive that seemed like it would never end. Not gonna lie, I was scared. When I finally arrived I was met with the warmest smile and the stress began to melt away. The lobby is so inviting, very chic and I knew right away that everything would be ok. The room was perfect, the staff was perfect, and they were everything I needed in that moment. I was able to shower, eat, and sit out on the beach after while the stress literally melted away. The journey started out as an absolute disaster but 40 Canones turned that around for me and I want to express my sincere appreciation.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 1 night & really wish we were able to stay longer. From the moment we walked in the hotel, we were immediately greeted & even handed a delicious welcome drink. Check in was smooth, rooms were impeccably clean and the beach area is beyond paradise. Every single staff member was SO kind, professional & helpful. The service at the beach and in the restaurant for breakfast & dinner was outstanding. To top it all off, the food was to die for (as were the drinks!) I left an item behind by accident and was contacted right away. Really goes to show the efficiency and care of the entire team here. Although our visit was short, we had an amazing time and would love to visit again one day. I don’t remember everyone’s name unfortunately but thank you so much to everyone. We loved meeting & chatting with Ernesto, Nina, Evelyn & Patricia. Nos vemos pronto. 🤞🏽

It was so refreshing and peaceful. Captured the beautiful surroundings of this gorgeous place. We loved it!!!

Stayed here for one night. The location on the beach is very nice but the hotel is a bit overpriced for what you are getting in my opinion. The walls are paper thin and you can hear all noises. All night people were banging on doors and talking loudly. the pipes in the bathroom had a very bad odor at night. The room was clean which was good but on the smaller side. The beach is free of seaweed and cleaned every day. many cruise ship tourists visit the beach and bar. the menu prices reflect this and are quite high with food and drink US prices. I would not stay here again, as I think there are better places in Mahahual.

Lovely, family owned hotel. Everyone was very friendly. Also the beach front and the little water bridge was a highlight! They really helped me also when I lost my wallet, which I am very thankful for! Would always come back and highly recommend the place.

Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Mahahual, Hotel Boutique Pachamama is a delightful retreat that perfectly blends comfort and charm. This modest hotel features straightforward rooms, some boasting stunning sea views, making it an ideal spot for couples seeking a romantic getaway. Since its establishment in May 2007 and subsequent restoration after Hurricane Dean, Pachamama has become a beloved haven for travelers.
Hotel Pachamama in Mahahual offers a clean and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff who maintain a tight & polished ship to ensure a smooth-running establishment. We enjoyed our stay. Nestled in a great location within town, 1 block away from the main strip, the hotel provides a peaceful retreat. Guests can shop the cute boutique store at the entrance, showcasing a variety of bracelets, bags, and clothing. Cute senior cat that always greets you in the main room. The rooms, though basic, feature lovely cozy patios to take in the vibes, you are equipped with fridges, big closet space and a safe for valuables. For those willing to climb a few stairs, the rooftop patio offers breathtaking ocean views. Bathrooms could maybe use a little love, but did have really nice water temp & pressure. Thank you! Kassia

Wonderful, boutique style hotel. Very cute, clean and the location is perfect. A few steps to everything the malecon has to offer. Hot water and cold air conditioning. 😁

An absolutely charming hotel with the loveliest staff in the world, right by the beach. We booked the sea-facing room and the views were magical! We even extended our stay by several days because we felt so relaxed and at home here - cosy vibe, hot water and super comfortable beds. Would reccomend!

What a fantastic little hotel! It's right by the beach but not on the busy boardwalk that gets crazy, plus the beach that is right behind it is really nice for swimming. I was on crutches during our trip and we had a bottom room with a private courtyard, there were only two steps to navigate into the hotel and everything was one level from there. Having a private courtyard was awesome and it was beautifully decorated. The rooms and whole facility were very clean. The biggest questions for any Mexican hotel room are, how is the shower and how is the bed. I am happy to report both are fantastic and the best we have had in Mexico! Shower water was hot and there was actual water pressure. The bed was one of the best I've had in any hotel, seriously. There were also plugs by the bed for the husband's CPAP machine. The WiFi was super fast too and never dropped signal. Having a mini fridge was great because we could have a cold beer on our private patio after a day in the sun. The hosts were very friendly and having them present added a level of safety, this would be a good spot for a solo female traveler to stay.

Beautiful little gem hotel, very clean, friendly and great service. We got some good recommendations on where to go and what to eat, which I advise you to follow. We’d go back again!

What I found at Pachamama Hotel MaHahual was beyond stay and accommodation, it felt like a spiritual retreat. The most friendly staff Princesa, the owner Micky who made me feel like family. It was precious stay, you also gonna find sometimes the company of Pachamama cat and Rocky dog. The space is eco friendly oriented, ocean view from the back rooms, convenient location right in the middle of Centro, short walking distance from Chetumal/ Tulum daily coletivo. I’d book group retreats easily at this location. The atmosphere, vibes and philosophy are the right fit for it. I’d recommend to anyone visiting MaHahual and hope to return soon.

A really nice place to stay. Very kind and helpful owners! Clean and nice room with balcony, aircondion, safe and large bed. Room 7 and 8 can exclusive use roof top terrace. A few meters to the beach. Thanks a lot! 🙏😎

This is a small boutique hotel where the owner is on site making sure everyone is comfortable. The amenities are basic but each room has AC, a safe, TV and a mini fridge. It’s clean and located a block off the malecón. The premises are nicely decorated and there is a small boutique in the lobby featuring wicker handbags, hats and some lovely clothing from Italy- the owner’s homeland. This is a , affordable place that I highly recommend.

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Mahahual, Hotel Jaiba Mahahual is a tranquil retreat designed exclusively for adults. This charming hotel features a delightful rooftop terrace and an inviting outdoor pool, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Guests can take advantage of complimentary bicycles to discover the nearby attractions, including the stunning Mahahual Beach and Costa Maya Port, both just minutes away. The hotel offers modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi and concierge services to enhance your stay.
I extended my stay as I enjoyed it so much! The service, the breakfast, the room and mahahual overall deserve 5 stars! They make their own soap, the breakfast is a large bowl of fruit, yoghurt and muesli. And they have bikes available for rent as well (as you cannot walk to the beach), but that makes it even more nice!!! Thank you! I can recommend this to anyone visiting mahahual and not wanting to stay in the more busy sea side.

Great room to stay at Mahahual. Very friendly owners and nice spaceous rooms. If you don’t have a car or other means of transportation, this hotel might be a little far from the beach (20 minute walk). Great breakfast as well (fruits, yoghurt an granola).

Great place, bit far from the beach, ok if you have a car. Quiet. Super nice staff and great breakfast with fresh fruits!! Great pool! Convenient room with big fridge! Comfortable bed. A bit expensive for the location…

Internet is not working, there were poo dogs in the facility, the room smells of humidity and mold, I couldn't breath correctly, the staff is unwelcomed for tourists and never apologized. I escalated to expedia for even safety issue. They do not answer by email or phone.

Lovely hotel with attention to detail. Very friendly staff and the cutest chihuahua. Really liked the serenity ot the hotel, location (still walking distance from a residential area with lots of eateries), for the beach a car is recommended. Lovely that they place a lot of emphasis on sustainability, not using plastic and making their own shampoo and soap. Really enjoyed having an almost private garden with hammocks.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms with great facilities. The tropical vibe aesthetic is a true compliment to the hotel and the pool is fantastic. Only negative is I wish we had booked more than one night. Will definitely return.

Truly the best hotel I've stayed in for a verrrry long time. Very comfortable and homey, lots of cute personal touches and I slept super well. Nice HOT shower, air conditioning, and a relaxing vibe. Coffee, tea, water, mini fridge etc. are all provided which is becoming rare these days. I will absolutely return when I need a break from the off-grid life :) And their pets are adorable!

Loved it! Me and my soon-to-be-wife were the only guests in the hotel. The keepers and owners of the place are super warm and welcoming, we felt very well received the moment we arrived. The cleanliness was superb so it came as no surprise that they have a state certification for being the only hotel in Mahahual to follow the health and security requirements and procedures for Covid prevention. Rooms had a lot of space and the pool felt really private and cozy. I very much recommend this hotel and such its staff with such a high quality service and attention to detail. Thanks for everything Jaiba Hotel and we will certainly book with you again the next time we're in Mahahual.

Nestled along the stunning coastline of Mahahual, Mahasand Hotel & Hostel offers a delightful retreat just moments from the sandy shores of Mahahual Beach. This charming accommodation is conveniently located within walking distance to local attractions like the iconic Mahahual Lighthouse and Costa Maya Port. Guests can immerse themselves in various recreational activities, including bicycle rentals or simply soaking up breathtaking views from the terrace and garden areas.
I wish I had read the reviews more carefully, so I would like to warn other guests here. The building is in very poor condition, there is mold everywhere and the smell in all rooms is unbearable. Please note that none of the rooms have a window and the closest possible access is the front door. The toilets are also accessible for guests from the beach or diving, but there was only 1 toilet and one shower per gender for all the people. We swapped the private room for a 16 dorm room because I couldn't spend a single night in the small, no any fresh air in the private room . Of course that wasn't a problem, but we still had to pay the price for the private room. They didn't even begin to accommodate us and the hotel owners didn't care if we were unhappy. It's all about profit here, that's really sad and can be seen throughout the hostel. Our private room was rented out to someone else, so they received income from us who were in a 16 dorm but paid the price of private rooms plus the new guests who booked into our old room. never again! I know that it's really difficult to find accommodation in Mahahual, but please think about it three times, but in such unhygienic accommodation (chewing gum sticks to the wall right next to my bed) there's no solution either, believe me
Laura J — Google review
Super hot rooms. They won’t turn ac on unless there’s enough people staying. Weird guy lives in the hostel and plays music all night and won’t turn it off even when asked. Uncomfortable beds. Loud. Poor overall vibe and dirty facilities, cockroaches, etc. Near the beach, but everything in Mahahual is near the beach. Under absolutely no circumstances would I recommend anyone stay here. Just don’t. If you’re laying awake at 3am sweating and arguing with Fabian to turn his volume off, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Aaron T — Google review
Disappointed about this hostel, a lot of things to improve. The kitchen is absolutely disgusting, lots of stuff are broken or worn out, I think I even saw a rat and the guests are stolen the food whitout any discomfort. The beds and the linen are bad, the boiler in the terrace is very noisy. The household is never done expect the ground to make illusion the hostel is cleaned. It seems to be bad managed, some employees are on their phones all day long. Good points : it’s cheap (200 pesos a night whitout taxes, there is the A/R in the dorm, and good located). Fortunately for them there isn’t a lot of hostels in Mahahual.
Maryse G — Google review
The Argentinian receptionist is really nice and helpful! The manager of the place should consider telling people that the seaweed makes people throw up. Especially considering that it’s like a one meter high wall around 10m away from the hostel! Disgusting! This was honestly the worst smell ever … It felt like the hostel wasn’t running well (only 4 beds occupied, 3 my friends and I). Maybe reconsider cleaning things such as bathrooms and toilets and implement another front door to keep the smell outside. Don’t want to eat somewhere where I am about to throw up 24/7

MAHA SAND SUITES HOSTEL Bed in 18 bed DORM : AVOID the owner only wants your money. I don't think he knows his job, which is one of service to a client.. 1. No AC if you are not at least 5 in the long 18-beds dorm.. I had NEVER seen that BEFORE. (WE WERE 4 and couldn't get the AC !). only 3 FANS in this huge dorm, and mine didn't work properly.. You can imagine the SLEEPLESS night with this heat ! 2. No breakfast, hard to wash in a shower as there is few water.. 3. Bad tours : what was supposed to be a 1h30 snorkeling tour with turtles actually was 30 minutes in the water and NO TURTLES. Their excuse : you know turtles are not always in the same spot. Fortunately I got my money back. 4. You have to pay for the shampoo and soap... Too expensive for what you get.

They sell aircon rooms but they turn it off during the night because we were just with 5 people. It starts from 6 people.. They never told us that! 18 beds in one room. Wayyyy to hot. Close to the beach, the door is always open. So a lot of mosquitos are inside. The staff don't care and it's still under construction. But they will not give any discount for it. You find better places that is worth the money!!!
Annelies — Google review
It was still being completed when I visited beginning of July 2018; clean, cute. Co-ed dorm room. Too many beds in one small space. The other half of the room was still under construction, dust and all. Management was barely present. Risky way to run a co-ed dorm. Oh, the senora charged me extra for showing up after midnight, for waking her up! Geesh! There are better, cheaper dorms along the malecon.

Amazing place, but there is lots of sargazo nearby so smells like rotten fish 🎏. If you see sargazo in the beach the day you visit I would suggest to stay somewhere else, there are other great options. The staff is alright, not very helpful tho.

Really nice rooms at a decent rate. There's a pool and it's a generally laid back atmosphere. Everything we needed , the rooms are spacious, clean, and well furnished and decorated. It was a 10 min drive to the coast , definitely would stay again and recommend to others.

(Translated by Google) APPALLING!! We arrived at the hotel after driving more than 20 hours. and they told us that a lady decided to stay longer and they sold her our rooms that we had previously reserved and paid for through Booking! We literally found ourselves on the street with my family looking for accommodation and because it was high season, everything was almost sold out, we finally found one that was more expensive but it was the only thing there was. Bad for the hotel that did not respect my reservation and bad for Booking that to date have not done anything to compensate for this situation, just a call to see what they were doing but they left me on the phone waiting for more than 20 minutes and I had to solve it myself, I literally NO LONGER TRUST THIS APPLICATION!!!!

(Translated by Google) My experience was not entirely good, to begin with it is not a hotel, they are apartments that are rented per night or for long stays. Because it was located on the side of the weeds and surrounded by vegetation, there were many insects so they would have to fumigate constantly. In my apartment the first night there were many mini 100 feet and a scorpion. In addition, the tenants upstairs had a party until 3 o'clock. 4 in the morning, which did not allow us to rest...there was no hot water because the heater valve was closed. When I opened it I realized that it had a leak. The place is not ugly, it has potential, however, it lacks cleanliness, the bathroom soaps are of very low quality and they left us only 1 roll of paper, we had to buy more...we lost one night and went to another hotel to feel more comfortable.

Nestled along the pristine white sands, this charming hotel features a rooftop pool that offers breathtaking views of the ocean and sky. Guests rave about the bright and clean accommodations, making it a perfect spot to unwind after exploring Costa Maya. During my visit while on a cruise stop, I was blown away by the stunning setting and exceptional service.
We LOVED our day at Jamie’s at the Blue Reef! We got the all inclusive day pass during our port stop, and I am so glad we did. The service was awesome, quick, and friendly. The food was SO good that we keep talking about how we can’t wait to come back and have more. Vendors do walk up to you, but they are super friendly and walk away if you tell them no thank you. We 100% will be back on our next trip!

100% as advertised! Did a day pass from the ship. The owner, Jamie, emails back within minutes. Service, food from Jesus, our waiter, was the highlight. Such authentic food and the beach was steps from your chair. Can’t believe we have been to costa maya many times and missed this, never again. We will be back each time we visit!!

Spent the day here while on a port stop from our cruise. I have traveled extensively and all I can say is WOW!!! The setting right on the white sandy beach is amazing, the good is service is top notch and the overall vibe of feeling like you have your little piece of paradise is awesome. Just a short 15 minute cab ride from the cruise port, VERY reasonably price for all you can eat & drink. The owner Jaime takes care of you like you are a member of his family. If you are looking for the PERFECT excursion while stopping in Mahahual (Puerto Mayo), this place can't be beat.

We had such an amazing day here! We did the cruise day pass and the food and drinks were great! The view and location are amazing. Everyone was so nice. The beach area is great, you can walk out super far in the ocean. The chairs and shade are nice, there are lots of options. We used the paddle board to go out in the water. It’s not crowded at all. And the beach vendors leave you alone if you just say no or shake your head. Some of them are actually pretty fun. I was nervous about this port because people say it isn’t their favorite. They need to come HERE! I did so much research into different beach clubs, and this is the one to come to! We are ready to come back to Blue Reef!

Great time here with the day pass. Free drinks and food all day! Great beach and even better service. The street vendors will bother; just say "no, thank you," and they will leave you alone.

We booked this for an excursion off from our cruise. It was fun, the waiters and bartender were great and the food was authentic Mexican and was yummy. We did not stay overnight. We layed in the sun, chairs provided, and swam in the ocean. Too windy for kayaks and paddleboards. They helped us get a cab back to the boat.

The room was clean and comfortable. Two beds and a bathroom. It's all we needed and that's what we got. Great location too. The lady who checked us in was very nice. ( didn't get her name). Some guests had some maintenance problems with their room and she fixed everything thing she could. It was a holiday weekend so she couldn't call for help.

600 for the dingiest room i've ever seen in my life. A half step up from a crime scene No hot water just one floor fan. Dirty, was supposed to be 550 pesos, paid 600 told I get my change in the morning. Next morning no 50 pesos. Basically charged the Gringo rate. It was cheaper on booking.com. but I still wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed longer than we actually intended to. This hotel is great. It was clean, the staff is really nice, the house lady always came and sprayed down the mosquitos at our entrance. The location is good enough, it has a really cool beach, with beach ball, seats, shadow and water access. Yes, there is sargrassum on the beach and it does not smell great, but you can't blame that on the hotel nor the beach! That's nature and we could totally ignore it. Rodolfo took us on a snorkel tour for a really good price, we saw lots of fish, coral, stingray and even a turtle! He rented us a tandem bike which was a great experience.

Way hotter than I imagined as the windows are not lined up to.have air pass through. The water was off at 1 am so I could not cool off. However there are hammocks outside my cabana so I went outside to cool off as the temperature outside was great ar night because of the wind.
Alisha O — Google review
We stayed here last week. The location is terrific, directly across the sleepy street from a lovely, quiet palm tree filled beach.Just south of the madness of all the day cruisers, almost none make it to this beach just south of the business of town(easy 15 minute walk, and easy taxi if you want it to town). We could see the peaceful view from our second story king size bedroom. The bed was clean, and very comfortable. We felt safe and secure in this spot.Room was clean and plenty of hot water in the shower. The only drawback was that the weather was a bit cool and with only a sheet on the bed we were very happy we had brought our beach towels on this journey as they made sleeping warmly, perfect.
Travels T — Google review
We got a good deal on Booking.com for $520 mxn a night for a cabana. It was roomy with comfortable beds. Nice sitting area out front and hammocks all over. Parking right in front of our room. Great location an easy walk to town but away from all the cruise ship day trippers. The only thing I would improve is the bathroom - it needs a roof so it is more separate from the bedroom. When you turn on the bathroom light it lights up the whole bedroom.
Kate P — Google review
A little rustic but that's part of the charm. These bungalows are just across the street from the beach, within walking distance of a few restaurants and some convenience stores. The rooms are spacious but lack AC, and the bathroom could use a renovation. Excellent for the price.
Sahid B — Google review
I stayed at the cabanas for 450 per night, I think those rooms definitely need mosquito nets beside that they are a good deal. Unfortunately on 6 nights spend here I didn’t sleep at all, right in front of the windows there is a guy working on a building and hammering the wall continuously every day. I advise travelers who love quiet places to not come here while it is in construction

Hotel
Nestled just steps from the stunning Mahahual Beach, Palmeras de Mahahual Cabañas is a charming beachfront retreat that offers a cozy and rustic atmosphere. Each cabin features simple yet comfortable furnishings, complete with balconies that provide breathtaking sea views. Guests can enjoy air-conditioned accommodations equipped with essential amenities like free WiFi, private bathrooms stocked with toiletries, and even coffee-making facilities for those leisurely mornings. The property boasts a welcoming garden and complimentary bicycles for exploring the picturesque surroundings.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Every evening we watched the sunset from our "balcony" in front of the cabin. We can definitely recommend to ask for the cabins that are on top so you can enjoy the first row view on the ocean. The room was nice and big, the wifi reception was extraordinary and we had warm water. We would definitely recommend this place!

The room was simply a place to lay your head....but the noise outside kept me awake. I am currently in the room and it's past midnight and I can hear people outside and upstairs. Our bathroom has a drip from the ceiling and the walls to this place are thin! I can smell the faint smell of gasoline. Seems clean enough, but it's hard to tell because the lighting is so bad. Very dark. The positives include a nice location with a view of the beach across the malecon. There are some bikes that are free for one hour, but they look rough.
Vicki D — Google review
Ok. It's a good location but i booked it because it has first floor rooms. My wife is handicapped. Still it didn't have a ramp. Also the rooms are dark, especially the bathroom. I liked the beds and pillows. And Samuel was nice. Kinda expensive for what you get.. Oh, and they have to do something about that smell under the porch
Gerald H — Google review
The service provided by the hotel staff was both warm and friendly but most importantly: useful. They were flexible with a mistake I made regarding the dates when booking. The rooms are comfortable, clean, cozy and have unexpected pros: a big water bottle, coffee mugs, coffe maker and coffee. A small minibar fridge. There provide both beach towels and shower towels. There's wifi. Ac. A safe. Shampoo & soap dispensers. Several shelves and sidetables. ♡ The view is nice! It's literally a few steps from the beach and the best food in town. Their guides, provided in the room suggested we order from several restaurants. We got lobster pizza and cheese salad from Pizza Papi and it was super good (the dough which was thin and crunchy) (and fast).

Beautiful cabins and location. We had a wonderful holiday!
Holly B — Google review
The cabins are in a great Location right on the Mahahual boardwalk, its only a step away from the best part of the beach. The rooms are very clean and cozy. The staff are very friendly and they will provide you with the best of care during your stay. I would be happy to go back.
Daniel A — Google review
These RUSTIC cabins are in a perfect location. They are in the main area of the malecón/board walk. All the restaurants, bars, and shops are just seconds away. The beds were super comfortable and the cabins were very clean. The cabins are beach front but the hotel doesn’t have a beach club. But don’t worry there are plenty of beach clubs in the area that only require any purchase for you to use their beds. You can also find a spot and take your own towels and beer literally right in front of the cabins. The hotel offers bike rentals for $2.50 usd an hour or $12.50 usd for the day. If you ask me I think the rental should be FREE with your stay. There were two things we didn’t like. We couldn’t find a happy medium with the water temperature, it was either blistering hot, seriously blistering hot or cold. We had to opt for cold showers. The second things was the air conditioner, it wasn’t cool enough. I’m not sure of the ac didn’t feel cool since we were in the top cabin and the roof is made from straw to all the cool air left the area immediately. I think this problem could se solved if they added a ceiling fan. My husband and I were happy with the overall experience and we would definitely return and stay here.
Arcy H — Google review
A lot of noise. Walls are like paper, you can hear the shower, conversations and everything from your neighbors. The safety box vibrates every time someone go upstairs. And of course your ceiling is noisy if the room upstairs is occupied. If your neighbors are early morning persons, prepare for it, once I was awake since 6:30 because early neighbors. The person behind the whatsapp is very helpful, answers you very fast, however that does not compensates the noise. Of course I stayed 6 nights because I had already paid, what else should I do? The room is very big and beds are comfortable, but I found it very expensive for the service provided. Nothing takes away that you can hear everything from the other rooms and of course, other rooms can hear you! I stayed there because they told me the internet was optic fiber, I don´t know it that was true but the worst internet I experienced was theirs. Big Mama has the best internet in the beach, I worked from there as in my room not even my phone signal was working.

Garden
Nestled just a short stroll from the stunning Mahahual Beach, Hotel Jardín Mahahual offers a serene escape with its charming garden and cozy accommodations. This low-key hotel features private rooms that are tastefully decorated and equipped with comfortable seating areas, ensuring a relaxing stay. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property, making it easy to share your travel experiences online. The shared spaces are clean and basic yet provide all the essentials for an enjoyable visit.
We loved our stay at Hotel Jardín! Ernesto is such a fun and kind and thoughtful host. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and air conditioned which we were very grateful for. Plenty of outlets, and wifi available (in case you need it, but you really should be relaxing and not scrolling your phone!) There is a shared kitchen area which is awesome, but the location is perfectly walkable to local eats and corner stores. The hotel is cozy, lush green, and cute. We loved waking up to see the starfruit tree and lizards on the ground outside. The price is great (we went in Feb, I think it was roughly $400 USD for a week), and we would love to stay here again! I hate using the phrase "authentic" when describing travel experiences, but we were so glad we stayed here in town instead of in the beach-front hotels and cabanas. See my additional comments about the rooms, etc. for more details.

The best: - rooms are super clean, very nicely decorated. The bed is very comfortable. - Ernesto is a great host. It was nice having a few chats with him in order to get to know more about the life in Mahahual - located 2 blocks away from beach and shops. 50 meters away from ado station. Perfect To improve: - nix

Absolutely awesome! ->The owner is so helpful, I couldn’t even imagine more helpfulness. :-) The rooms are clean and it’s quiet. The beach is just around the corner and you get super recommendations from the owner for restaurants and dive shops. It’s my pleasure to be at this place! Muchas gracias!
Nils B — Google review
The shared room is very basic, but clean. Many power outlets. The location is amazing (two blocks from the beach). The hostel people were very helpful - they have a map with suggestions of places to go, they can answer a lot of questions, and they are very nice. I haven't seen the private rooms, but I suppose they are as basic, clean and nice. Good value for money.

Didn't like this hostel at all. The owner doesn't speak English (which is weird of you're in the tourist industry). I was the only guest in the dorm room. That's not their fault, but because is was the only one, I couldn't use the airconditioning. And it was crazy hot when i was there in May... Furthermore, the owner didn't want me to close the door during the day, even when i was inside the room. He didn't give me a reason for that. Quite weird. Would not recommend this place. Didn't feel welcome at all.
Diego K — Google review
I stayed 6 nights. It was low season, only 1-2 people in dorm. Very clean and 2 toilet and one shower. Garden + kitchen beautiful. Like the Santorini style. I like saving energy during day and cooling down with air conditioning during night. I liked it.
Monika K — Google review
Booking.com gets you better price than at the premise. Double room is really small and (otherwise super fast) wifi barely has signal inside the room on the second floor (both phones and laptops). Otherwise ok place, bathroom was good (hot water and good pressure). Mahahual is small enough that practically every place is close to the beach.
Sebastian S — Google review
Good well kept and renovated rooms. Some with aircon, wifi was rubbish and need fixing. The staff and owners are really friendly. There is hammocks and a courtyard to relax. Walking distance to the Malecon and the beach

Hotel
Hotel El Caballo Blanco is an unassuming all-suite hotel located right across from the beach. As the tallest hotel in Mahahual, it offers stunning views from its rooftop, where guests can enjoy a small infinity pool and a rooftop bar. The rooms are adorned with hand-painted murals and come equipped with amenities such as air-conditioning, cable TV, and mini-refrigerators. Some rooms even feature balconies facing the water.
Mahahaul and El Caballo Blanco have quickly become my favorite getaway! The views are simply breathtaking, and the service is impeccable. I've already enjoyed two wonderful stays and am already planning my next trip. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a cheerful ambiance, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. All the essentials worked perfectly, including the TV, refrigerator, and air conditioning. It's important to remember that you're experiencing the charm of rural southern Mexico, not a bustling metropolis. While the infrastructure may not be on par with major US cities, the owner goes above and beyond to ensure a seamless and comfortable stay. I'm absolutely captivated by the magic of Mahahaul and El Caballo Blanco. A heartfelt thank you to Tina for her warm welcome and exceptional hospitality. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable vacation!
Kevin F — Google review
This seven room boutique hotel, right in the best section of mahahual, will delight you and your family. It is a member of the beach club directly in front, and is walking distance to several high end eateries and other beach spots along the malecon. Plenty of boats leave regularly for fishing snorkeling and diving. Mahahual is a friendly and slow paced gem. Tina, the owner of El Caballo Blanco, is well respected in the community, and she will treat you like family.
Christine C — Google review
Great location right on the water. It was a bit confusing to get to, front door is on the beach not the street. Great little shops and restaurants walking distance. We had a great time exploring!
Travis M — Google review
This is true gem on the shore! It’s incredible place. Right on the beautiful beach. The owner provides superstar service. Thank you Tina, to make this trip memorable.
Andrey P — Google review
Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The views from each of the rooms is incredible and it also has a rooftop pool and lounge area that overlooks the beach. Tina is also such a wonderful host! Super friendly and accommodating. Definitely planning on coming back!
Ethan S — Google review
Tina and the staff here are just exceptional and the rooms have every possible detail of comfort and beauty. From the mattresses to the sheets to the tile in the bathroom, everything is exquisite and so many small details were perfectly done! You could not find a more welcoming and beautiful clean place to stay, gorgeous terraces on the rooms and a beautiful private rooftop pool. So highly recommended!
Teresa B — Google review
This is another review of my opinion and a response to the owner. First of all I was not paid I can assure you I’m just a regular customer sharing my honest experience. Second of all yes there was barely any water for us and the workers were very rude. This is just my honest opinion and review and the owner is just hating on me and mad? Like what did I do I just had a negative experience. Overall the location was good but not the hotel the owner was nice but not the workers, it had a lot of pros and cons but mostly I did not like this hotel.
Chrid B — Google review
The best place to stay in town! We felt super comfortable, great shower, amazing views from the rooftop patio. It was nice being able to relax on the beach on the loungers and swim without having to go to a beach club. Central in downtown so could walk to many restaurants and attractions easy.

Holiday apartment
Very clean, modern and safe. Beautiful gardens very well maintained. Very attentive hosts, communicate in English and Spanish. Any issues are quickly resolved.
George F — Google review
Really great apartment. Clean, well equipped and set in a lovely complex with a pool. Owner is onsite for any problems, but have gave us our privacy. Really couldn't fault it.
Jacqui V — Google review
Cesar and Sabrina were absolutely amazing hosts! :) The apartment is in a great location in the casitas area, very close to the beach and restaurants in Mahahual. The apartment is fantastic, with a very cozy decor and with everything you need for a quiet weekend or long stay, either as a couple or with friends. Cesar and Sabrina were always very accommodating and always willing to help you, you feel at home from the moment you are welcomed! I will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone!
Mario C — Google review
Yes Cesar and Sabrina and everyone here are so nice and kind and so good with my dog, Zeus, as well; terrific place. I'd buy an adjoining lot if any still for sale.
Rand R — Google review
What a beautiful resort Sabrina and Cesar have built! Truly enjoyed my stay at Departamentos Mahahual.
Germain C — Google review
What a wonderful place! Beautiful landscaping, with an elevated hardwood walkway through the garden, spotlessly clean spacious room with two bottles of cold water in the fridge, and a personal pick-up from the bus stop meant our stay began in the best way we’d had after having traveled in Mexico for five months. Mahahual is a cute town with some excellent restaurants within easy walking distance, and if you want to use the free bikes provided, the malecón in “downtown” Mahahual is just a few minutes ride away. We highly recommend!
