Breakfast restaurant
Rye Bakery Cafe is a charming establishment located in an old church in Frome, Somerset. The bakery offers a delightful array of pastries, breakfast items, and coffee, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. In addition to its delectable baked goods, Rye Bakery Cafe also serves hearty lunch options such as lasagne and beef shin stew. On Friday evenings, patrons can indulge in the cafe's renowned pizzas.
Amazing stunning fascinating place, lovely vibe and very unique. Very good coffee, great flavour and perfectly served. Very nice pastries and baked food. I had a cheese toastie; the greens of the salad were fresh but could have done with a punchier dressing. The pickled carrots were excellent and made up for that. The toastie itself was excellent. Not sure you can park nearby but park in a nearby car park and enjoy the walk to and from - there's so many wonderful quirky streets and buildings in the area.

A beautiful church converted into a cafe - plenty of seating, kids play area, good selection of brunch, coffee and pastries to choose from. Friendly and welcoming staff with attentive service. All the food we tried was delicious and big portions too. Would definitely revisit when in Frome.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five‑star review Visited Rye Bakery Café in the beautifully restored church off Whittox Lane— Frome. What a gem! The high ceilings, stained‑glass light, and rustic pew‑style seating create such a welcoming vibe. The coffee by Round Hill Roastery hit the spot, paired perfectly with flaky pastries and a delicious cake slice. They serve freshly made sandwiches on sourdough—simple and satisfying. The team are warm and genuine, and there’s a brilliant children’s play area tucked into a willow dome—perfect for families. Cozy, creative and community‑minded (plus dog‑friendly too!), it’s one of the nicest café experiences I’ve had recently. Highly recommend stopping by! It is also super Dog friendly and has easy disabled access and parking.

Absolutely loved this place! Rye Bakery is set inside a beautiful old church, and the interiors are just stunning – high ceilings, arched windows, and that warm, rustic charm you rarely find. The seating is a mix of cosy wooden tables and relaxed communal benches, giving it a relaxed and welcoming feel. The coffee is top-notch – smooth and rich – and their food is fresh, wholesome, and beautifully presented. You can really tell everything’s made with care. Great selection of pastries, sourdough, and brunch dishes too. Such a peaceful spot to relax or catch up with friends. Definitely one of the loveliest cafés in Frome! ☕✨

In a church More welcoming that it was when it was a church haha Cakes are more pastries no doughnuts bit of a shame Massive inside old church seat organ still there Maybe a bit big for a cafe better if was youth club or something Can sit outside can’t sit upstairs Had a brownie quite rich Need loads a people in there otherwise would feel a bit strange but great idea

I didn't eat here as was entertaining but lovely size hall, plenty of plugs. No kitchen for public use but it is connected to the cafe, which I know does delicious food and great coffee, they can also supply food for the party. You are also welcome to bring your own but remember, no kitchen. Parking is at a premium, fortunately they allow myself and the parents booking the hall to use the reserved spaces. Not much parking on the road and nearest car park is near the cinema.

5 stars, great speciality coffee, all their own fantastic bread and locally sourced ingredients. Great for kids, buggies and even has a play area for small kids. Beautiful old church setting

Tapas restaurant
Consider trying to secure a reservation at The High Pavement, a Moorish tapas bar that recently reopened following renovations. With its charming outdoor garden, patrons can enjoy an ever-changing assortment of small plates such as Afghan yogurt-filled aubergine rolls or harissa-infused leek and cecina croquettes. This picturesque establishment boasts an exquisite menu, featuring mouth-watering tapas options.
Fantastic find we only stumbled on as our usual Frome favourite was fully booked. We got lucky and had a table in the gorgeous courtyard. Great food and service - it will now be our first choice.
Gary R — Google review
The @thehighpavement is set above the cobbled streets and pretty buildings of Frome’s St Catherine’s quarter 🥳 The small family run restaurant serves delicious Tapas inspired by the robust, flavoursome cooking of Spain, North Africa and the Middle East.🥳 I can honestly say that they were some of the most gorgeous & delicious Tapas we’ve ever had! We will always go back and if you are around Frome then it should be on the top of your list to visit 🙌🏻🔥😍
Alex T — Google review
So glad we booked to come here for my birthday lunch, tapas was so good. Great quality ingredients cooked and seasoned superbly. I thought it was also very good value for money. 100% recommend booking to come here.
Lauren — Google review
Could not fault this place. Plenty of options for us as vegans, allergy aware, outstanding service, some of the most delicious food I’ve had all summer and couldn’t believe how reasonably priced this place is for the quality of food. I will definitely be back if I’m ever in Frome again, and would recommend High Pavement without hesitation. You do need to book though, as they get very busy! The staff were also incredibly accommodating, as I made a special request around seating due to being immunocompromised due to cancer. They phoned me up to discuss options ahead of my booking, which really put me at ease. I felt well looked after and this felt so special and important as I do not get many good days in between treatment cycles. I really appreciated this especially as the restaurant is small and they’re incredibly busy.

Excellent service and delicious food. What more can I say. Great little restaurant
Vince C — Google review
First time visiting The High Pavement and wow, I was amazed. Being coeliac i was sceptical because I always am eating out. There were plenty of dishes to chose from, all were delicious, full of flavour and filling. Service was great, our waitress explained in detail all the dishes on the menu and was very attentive. The atmosphere on a Friday night was great. It was busy in there and we were a table of 5, but received great service. Would recommend this place to family and friends.

Fantastic restaurant great atmosphere. Staff explained any unknown dishes to us, attentive without being overbearing. Food was excellent quality. Would highly recommended this place.

Run by coffee enthusiasts, it offers a variety of brunch options such as beetroot-and-sweetcorn fritters and house-roasted Loud Mouth Coffee. The lunch menu includes Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls and lasagna from Rye Bakery. The cozy interior and friendly service make it an ideal place to enjoy delicious breakfast fare like homemade granola with creamy yogurt and fresh fruit.
Came here for my birthday breakfast on 15th May, food was delicious and staff were lovely! I didn’t catch his name (I’m sorry) but the man who was on the tills was particularly lovely and gave me a cake for my birthday 🎂

Visited 17/05/2024 - Good food, waiter could have been a little more attentive as was holding a child but had to get the high chair myself (while still holding my child). Generally good atmosphere and friendly people.
Daniel D — Google review
I had lunch at The River House in Frome and really enjoyed it. The place has a very nice vibe and the seating is cosy and relaxed. The staff were friendly and helped us choose from the menu. I tried the Turkish eggs which were amazing, and the coffee had a great flavour too. A lovely spot for a relaxed meal. Highly recommended!
Bastab S — Google review
WOW! We had our wedding reception here and it was the best night ever!! Sam, who helped organise everything and helped us out all evening, was amazing! The garden is huge, perfect for everyone to sit outside, plus the main room where we had a stage area for live music, and a back room for snacks and chilling. They were so accomodating and even kept all our gifts/decorations until the next day, so we didn't have to carry everything home. The whole night was magic - could not recommend it more, thanks so SO much x

10/10 best breakfast I’ve ever had. I had the hash Gordon and it was crispy and spicy and delicious and my partner had the vegan breakfast and I ate his beans and they were banging

Lovely cakes Inc vegan and gf. Breakfasts are quality and decent size. We had the house breakfast, avo toast and sweetcorn fritters. All delicious. Very very fast service. Staff are very friendly. Definitely worth the price. There is a shop with nice gifts and a gallery. Highly recommend.
Cat L — Google review
Really enjoyable 11am Sunday brunch. Coffee and orange juice were great. Very adventurous menu, for example, the cooked breakfast had a wonderfully tasty polenta slice instead of the usual potato hash brown. This was really, really good. Homemade beans were a bit al dente for my liking and I thought they they tasted a bit funky for a breakfast item. The black pudding, sausage, egg on buttered sourdough were all fantastic. The cooked tomatoes were grilled and slightly charred to a caramelised perfection. My partner had a sort of salmon avocado eggs benedict royale but it was on a herby scone base instead of the usual muffin. Again, I thought it tasted a bit funky and I'm not sure it's one for the puritans.

Wonderful food in a really vibrant environment. Cafe was nice and busy, clearly very popular with locals, and staff were lovely and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area !

Located in the heart of Frome, Castello Restaurant is a charming Italian eatery that offers a warm and inviting ambiance. The menu boasts an array of traditional Italian dishes, including freshly made pasta and wood-fired pizzas that have received high praise from patrons. This family-run establishment takes pride in using only the freshest ingredients to create authentic Italian flavors. With its stunning decor and friendly staff, Castello provides a delightful dining experience for both romantic evenings and family gatherings.
Visited 17/05/24 - Fantastic Italian restaurant with really nice food and great service. We found this last minute and they took our reservation. The service was great and they are family friendly, we took a baby and they customised the food for her with less seasoning. All of the food tasted great and was good value for money.
Daniel D — Google review
Had a really lovely evening at Castello in Frome. The vibe was cozy and relaxed, and the staff were genuinely warm and helpful. We started with the Gamberoni – prawns in a delicious garlic and chilli butter – so flavourful! The prawn chilli linguine was absolutely spot-on: fresh, perfectly cooked pasta with just the right kick. Our server recommended a red wine to pair with it, and it went beautifully with the meal. Simple, delicious food and great service. Would happily return! 🍷🍝🦐
Bastab S — Google review
We had a lovely time here. The food is great! I had the meatballs which were delicious and spicy in a great way. My wife had the stuffed mushroom which was also tasty. Both our pasta dishes were tasty and delicious. The only disappointment was the breads which were flavourless. Service was fine! We would return.
Tara R — Google review
We always come here and it never disappoints. The food is consistently excellent, easily the closest thing to real Italian we’ve had outside of Italy. Everything is authentic and well-executed. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with just the right amount of charm. Service is always on point. It’s a place we look forward to revisiting because they always get it right and provide the best overall experience.
Albi — Google review
Second visit to this restaurant. I was disappointed with the food and drink. Starter arrived with main course. Garlic bread was tasteless . Ravioli the chef’s special was not hot and looked like a mess heated up and thrown together. The penne arribiata had far too many chilli’s in it. Again it was not hot. The double gin and tonic came ready mixed. I couldn’t taste any gin which made me doubt there was much in it. I would prefer to add my own tonic which is normal pratice so you can adjust the strength. It had the thinist pice of lime I have ever seen. Coffee guess what ? Was warm.very disappointing meal at over £100
Barry C — Google review
Lovely Italian in the heart of Frome. Service was warm and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us. Menu selection was fantastic and every plate that left the kitchen looked amazing. I had the arabiata which was gorgeous, my only gripe was that it was a very small portion for the price. The calzones on the other hand are huge! Would recommend!
Megan G — Google review
Really friendly and welcoming service from the outset; stereotypical (in a good way 🤗) of family run Italian restaurants 👍 My pizza was a good size and loaded with toppings. The base was superb, which feels weird to point out 😅 but I ate all my crusts, which I don't normally do. I also visited the one in Radstock which was also excellent.

Bar
Nestled in the heart of Frome, Palmer Street Bottle is a charming hideaway that beckons locals and visitors alike with its cozy atmosphere. This delightful spot features an eclectic mix of seating adorned with faux furs and mismatched furniture, creating a relaxed vibe perfect for unwinding. The bar boasts an impressive array of orange wines, craft beers on tap, and ciders that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Excellent Craft Beer bottle shop with 7 taps featuring a variety of Beer styles plus a Cider. Great cocktails too (both alcoholic and non) and well stocked fridges and shelves of all sorts of Craft cans and bockles :) Excellent staff, friendly and knowledgeable, with a few suntrap tables out the front and lots of seating / rooms inside. Gender neutral toilets, but kept clean even on a Friday night. Highly recommended
Nelly S — Google review
No cash accepted here. It’s a rustic, laid-back, dog-friendly spot with gender-neutral restrooms. They had a few interesting hoppy IPAs on tap, but I was hoping for some real ales. Thankfully, the fridge was well-stocked with a wider variety of canned beers—though they come at a price. The flooring is just a cold, concrete subfloor, which feels a bit too modern for my taste.
Richard A — Google review
The staff were lovely and helpful and there was a great selections of beer and cider on tap and it was a really comfortable environment for sheltering from the rain. The trial cheese board was tasty, too.
Liam D — Google review
Do love this place, atmosphere is fantastic, beers and staff are great. Haven't tried any food yet but have been tempted a few times. Love that there's games available to play. Prices are reasonable for the area. Only gripe for me is agreeing with another review that the toilets weren't in the cleanest of states. But in fairness you can't always help that some customers can't aim at the toilet bowl.
Amber P — Google review
A very pleasant spot to while away a few hours on a Friday afternoon. There was a guest brewery take-over happening (Neon Raptor) so they had 6 taps devoted to their stuff which was very good. I believe this happens at the end of every month. I had some AF cans out the fridge too.
Douglas L — Google review
Amazing little place. Lovely tap beers and excellent food! All the staff we’ve encountered throughout the weekend (we’ve been here 3 days of our 3 day trip!) have been really friendly.
Stef O — Google review
Excellent staff, super knowledgeable. Loads of space out back and a pretty cool venue. It is a little expensive, but the beers available are quite niche and not things you would see regularly elsewhere.
Ash S — Google review
Great little bar, plenty of seating. The food appears to be cheese and cake, what more do you need. Great range of beers and friendly staff.

They boast an extensive selection of Butcombe beers at the bar, along with ample choices for vegans, vegetarians, and those on gluten-free diets.
Great 2 nights stay in this characterful property in central Frome. Our room was an attic room - head space was a bit tight (we’re both c6’ tall). Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. The included breakfast offered a range to choose from. Dinner was also good. Excellent service throughout our stay. Would definitely stay again but in a non-attic room!
Elizabeth Z — Google review
Room was clean and tidy, shower cubicle could do with a overhaul and replace the tiles with panels as the current ones are showing their age. Courtyard noise was gone by 11 so no problems. Now the service and breakfast were outstanding we couldn’t fault it in anyway. Great location and very reasonable prices, we certainly would stop again without any hesitation.
L P — Google review
Excellent location for us going to a show at very near by Cheese and Grain. Really friendly staff and excellent dinner and breakfast. Car parking was not a issue for us, it was a stones throw away and reasonable price. Room was a little tiered looking but bed was super comfy. Would stay again.
Shelley C — Google review
A historical coaching inn situated in the centre of Frome. It is recorded in the Domesday Book and full of interesting facts. The old architecture exudes charm with its exposed beams, worn stone and brick, creaky floorboards- all tell a story of centuries gone by. There are a few cozy nooks where one can relax and take in its atmosphere. Our bedroom was quite spectacular with its period furnishings and comfortable bed. Food was very nice as was the well stocked bar. The town is well worth a visit with its cobbled streets and individual shops. We shall return!
John H — Google review
We have just spent a wonderful night here, my partner and myself booked last minute. We arrived to friendly staff, beautiful decor, and everything was clean, it was a beautiful first impression. We chose a selection of dishes from their menu and we could not fault one! The stay was lovely , the room was spacious it was so clean , and smelled amazing! The bathtub was unreal!! The breakfast was incredible, everything was fresh! I see some comments about price but I truly feel that you get what you pay for and I would hands down pay this again, for the service, the staff, for the food for the atmosphere. We cannot wait to come and visit you again! The entire team and the manager could not do enough to accommodate our stay and all were so friendly!
Keshia C — Google review
Great 3 night stay. The team were very responsive to any requests - always had a smile. Breakfast and dinner were of good quality and variety. Great pre-stay instructions about where to park. Just a short walk from off street parking to the pub. The pub is ideally placed for great day trips including Longleat. Thankyou all
Lynne W — Google review
Arrived slightly early and room was ready which was a bonus as we were eating in the restaurant at 2.30. Meal started ok, but it quickly became clear that the venue was also hosting a wedding. There didn’t appear to be enough staff on (accept the challenges in hospitality). Our food order came up wrong (it happens), ultimately meaning we didn’t eat together. Apologies were given and a reduction was made to the bill which was appreciated, but even the replacement meal was also disappointing. There were many nice features to the room, it was quirky, but the mattress on the bed needed replacing, as I could feel the slats through it (I’m not a really big fella) and when we got back after a night out and wanted a cup of tea the kettle didn’t work properly and no milk had been left in the room - I did find someone who was cleaning up the restaurant and they provided some. In balance there were also many positives about the Archangel - the building and its decor were interesting, it is well located in Frome. It was really quiet at night, once the restaurant had closed, for a town centre location, which was nice. The breakfast was good. The staff were clearly working hard and were friendly enough.
Andy M — Google review
Wonderful heritage building first listed in the 1311 Domesday Book. Unfortunately it's redevelopment has destroyed some of the ancient architecture and characteristics - lost forever. My stay was comfortable, albeit I was cold (any heating improvements) don't seem to have worked. Staff were very professional and friendly and breakfast was good. Enjoyed having my own key to access the front door when locked after hours. Location was excellent with the exquisite St John the Baptist Church close by. Attended the Sunday Service at 10am which was tranquil and offered a great refuge for a weary traveller. However, the Priest seemed a little woke for my traditional Christian values. Frome felt very safe for a lone woman. I did get a parking ticket on a Sunday morning. Think the attendant was waiting for my time to expire.

Bistro Lotte is a traditional French restaurant located in a charming bed & breakfast on Catherine Street in Frome. The bistro offers classic French dishes such as galettes, steak frites, moules frites, boeuf bourguignon, and coq au vin. The restaurant is situated at the heart of town and provides a great pit-stop for visitors exploring Catherine Hills shops. The building itself was an Edwardian grocers before being transformed into the cozy bistro it is today.
We celebrated our wedding meal here as a group of 6, it was amazing. Service was great and the food delicious. Steak frites was generous and well seasoned. Will be coming back

Visited on recommendation so was disappointed with our experience. Room was nice, food was good, but the service was terrible. While our waitress was lovely the management were rude and unhelpful. Despite being told we could arrive before check in and leave our bags, the car park was pointed out and we were told check in was from 4. We had to go and wonder round. When checking in, the manager stood at bottom of stairs, pushed a carafe of water into our hands while juggling our bags and told us where we could find our room. Despite the website saying midweek deals could pay a supplement to order off the main menu, we weren’t allowed so a very restricted menu. Breakfast was disappointing. No juice, 1 coffee and dressed salad served with a bacon and egg sandwich. This has the potential to be excellent but a change in attitude is needed. We did not feel welcomed or valued. We won’t be returning.
Amy C — Google review
We stayed here during the June 2025 heatwave. Our room was above the bar at the rear of the building. It was a beautiful room, spacious, immensely comfy super king bed, adequate room for our things, lovely en-suite with beautiful toiletries. Everywhere was pristinely spotless. Our towels were changed after 48 hours. One night there was a jazz night in the bar below, but it was all silent by 11pm, so no problem. The temperature was close to 30° during our stay but there was no fan provided. This would have been massively appreciated. However by around 11.30pm the noisy air conditioning unit on the roof outside our room had been turned off so we could open the windows for much-needed fresh air and it was very quiet outside by midnight. As someone with a mobility issue, I had to take the stairs up to our room one at a time, which only became a problem when the automatic light kept turning off when I wasn't even halfway up/down the stairs. With no natural light either, I was plunged into darkness. There were also a few parts of the stairs without handrails. We went to the Bistro on our first morning for breakfast, admittedly it was 10.40am but we'd had a very long day the previous day and had slept late. However we were told breakfast was between 9-11am. The woman behind the counter looked very disapproving when we said we'd come for breakfast and made a big gesture of repeatedly looking at her watch and tutting. I only had a muffin so that was no trouble. My husband had a cold continental platter which was served by a lady with a big smile and a far more friendly attitude. We had two lots of drinks, served without a word by the woman at the counter. We didn't eat there again. There is no parking for guests at Bistro Lotte, which is on a very narrow but busy road junction. Overall, aside from the exceptional heat during our stay (maybe the owners could pop a fan in the wardrobe for guests to use?) our room was wonderful. Faultless. Other things - not as great.
Sue S — Google review
Stopped here with my husband for a lunch on the way through Frome. Cafe was quiet as weekday lunchtime and two serving staff. We’ve been before and love the French cuisine which is done to such a high standard. However, when sat down no one came to offer us a menu, despite us being next to the counter. Staff even came outside but did not come over even though we sat at their tables, we were ignored. Eventually, one of the staff addressed us in a way that suggested she was confused as to why we were there, asking us essentially what we were doing. I asked for a food menu, which she said she’d bring - but the tone was rude, as though our sitting in the cafe was an inconvenience and we had done something wrong. Food when it came was lovely as always. Normally tip in places, even if service slow, but did not here - unfriendly service doesn’t warrant a tip. We’re disappointed as we’ve visited here often and we love the food - but customer service and care means when we next pass through Frome, we won’t be stopping again. We don’t need gushing over friendly service, but leaving customers feeling as though they’re an inconvenience or unwelcome seems bizarre for a cafe/restaurant. So much potential, such a shame to compromise it and lose customers with poor attitude to customers.

We absolutely loved pur time at Lotte's. The restaurant atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and the food superb. Our room was very clean, good quality bedding, good shower. The tea and coffee in the room was good. We liked the location but parking is a bit of an issue.

Stayed at the beautiful friendly town of Frome and went here on the strength of the excellent reviews, was so disappointed with the whole experience. Ordered steak frites which was rump so wasn’t expecting a superior cut, however it was so bad and full of gristle, I couldn’t cut it even with the steak knife given, I hacked at it and just left the whole thing in the end, Service was appalling, was trying to attract a waitress but they were all so busy so were unable to do so, we were desperate for more drinks, didn’t get those either. When she finally came to collect our plates, I told her it was inedible and she could see I had left the whole thing, she just shrugged her shoulders and then proceeded to scrape it in a bin the left of the kitchen area, (I was facing it) without informing anyone in the kitchen. We then had to wait another 20 minutes for the bill which we had to ask twice for. The next evening we went to Walcot which is at the bottom of St Catherine’s Hill, food, service was impeccable, so much better than here, faultless.

We didn’t stay but had a lovely dinner and fantastic service from all of the staff. Between us we enjoyed French Onion Soup, Beef Bourguignon, a superb locally sourced steak from the butcher next door and a cream brûlée. My wife said the steak was up there as the best she had had. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, friendly chatty and observant. Will definitely return

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Frome, Little Walcot is a delightful blend of restaurant, café-bar, and club that invites you to indulge in both culinary delights and people-watching. With its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the charming cobbled streets of Catherine Hill, this newly opened venue offers an inviting atmosphere filled with natural light.
Love little Walcot have visted a few times for Sunday lunch and has been fantastic. Visted this weekend and sampled the small plates/starters which were delicious the hispi cabbage was insanely good! We had desserts and cocktails which were perfect. We came back for breakfast which was great highly recommend the veggie breakfast muffin. The staff are attentive and friendly. The atmosphere and design is so welcoming, can not wait to visit again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Little Walcot, Frome Had our first dining experience in Frome at Little Walcot and what a treat it was! While the menu is quite focused and limited, the quality of what they do serve is absolutely outstanding. I ordered the chicken and ham pie - and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was probably the best pie I've ever had. The pastry, the filling, everything was spot on. My wife went for the pork chop and was equally impressed - she couldn't stop raving about it throughout the meal. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse which was simply incredible. Just WOW is the only way to describe it! The atmosphere was inviting and welcoming overall. One small note - they offer a service where you can upload your photo to their website and they'll greet you by name on arrival, which is a lovely touch in theory. However, when we arrived they still asked for our name rather than recognizing us from the photo. It's only a minor thing and the greeting was still warm and friendly, but if you're offering this personalized service as a unique feature, it would be great to see it fully delivered. I'll be honest - it's not cheap, and we did feel the pinch on the wallet. But given the exceptional quality of the food and the fact that this might just be the going rate for quality dining these days, it felt like money well spent for a special meal out. If you're looking for quality over quantity and don't mind paying for excellent food, Little Walcot is definitely worth a visit. We'll certainly be back when we want to treat ourselves again!

Excellent neighbourhood-style restaurant. We enjoyed a pasta and grilled dish, plus scallops for starters.

Excellent service throughout our visit. Sunday roasts looked really good. Good vantage point to people watch. Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Dinning area feels spacious and reasonably quiet.

Strange little place. You can smell pee, and experience sticky tables (and toilet) but we had the most delicious burgers and great service. The location is prime. Strangely enough, we will be back.
JCM — Google review
Beautiful bavette steak to share though i thought the size of the fries side a bit small. Interesting selection of smaller plates too. Friendly service. Woodwork was all a bit scruffy but maybe it was supposed to be like that. There are quite a lot of steps. The cubicles in the Ladies were so small you had to straddle the loo to close the door, not good.
Helen A — Google review
Enjoyed a weeknight meal with family at Little Walcot. The interior and mood were lovely, staff were friendly and attentive, and booking was very straightforward. The food is nice and hearty, but not quite deserving of its price tag in my opinion. The menu is also one of the smallest I’ve seen anywhere, which can only be a positive when quality is higher.
G C — Google review
Came in for Sunday lunch, this is the 2nd time we have tried it. I have constructive criticism the first time round, the lunch was very nice, beef was perfect, veg very nicely cooked however the menu states roast potatoes and they are certainly not Roasted which to me is sacrilege. My other issue is the tiny pot of gravy served, we had to ask for more but when the bill came we had been charged £6 for 2 small jugs. I'm all for business making money but charging for extra gravy seems ridiculous. All in all a nice Sunday lunch that could be made so much better.

Lovely little coffee shop, delicious takeaway oat flat white using Round Hill Roasters coffee. 2 baristas serving on Saturday 9th August were so kind and helpful to our group. Thank you!

I cannot express how lovely this cafe is!!!! The tea incredible and the CAKES WOW!!!!! Soooo yummy!! The whole tone of the place is adorable and cosy and an amazing little pit stop of rest and enjoy the moment! The staff were very friendly as well. Good price too! Couldn't recommend it more!

Strange attitude towards customers. Every time the price tags for coffee change, and always upwards. I've personally observed this over the last month. It's as if everything depends on the staff and their personal assessment of the buyer. This is so pleasant. I advise you to think about this.

It is very popular and busy when we were there around noon time. We tried the flat white and filter coffee. Again, fruity blend is what I love soooo much! Love the filter which is really clear & fruity. The aftertaste stayed very long as well. The flat white is really smoothing as well.

Nestled in the heart of the town, this unique establishment showcases an array of artistic masterpieces and handmade crafts, creating an immersive gallery-like experience. The café within offers delectable small plates such as a standout verdant omelette, toast with mushrooms seasoned with garlic, appetizing house salads, cakes that satisfy sweet cravings, and excellent coffees.
Amazing little cafe! We had coffee and some lunch. The mushrooms and greens were so tasty, and the coffee was insane! We ended up getting some ground coffee to take home because we loved it so much. Great atmosphere, amazing service.

Service was friendly, food was so delicious! Really well priced and lovely portions. The Turkish eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had. Although they gave me an end burnt piece of rye bread instead of a pita. Only thing I’d say is there are weren’t any meat options. But lovely and fresh, would come back

Really lovely little place that I discovered on a trip to Frome. Price little on the high side for the portion size but the food itself was delicious and the staff welcoming and very friendly. Would recommend!

Really great little cafe to grab tasty small plates. Stand-out green omelette, mushrooms on toast with garlic, house salads and cakes and good coffees. Only minor gripe is that sometimes the tables are taken up with individuals working on laptops with a coffee and it may be better to ask them to work on one table, in order to free up space for other customers

Staff were pleasant and the cafe itself is very nice inside, the coffee was also good. In terms of the food, it was yummy, however we did feel our portions were quite small in relation to the price we paid and one of my friend’s sandwiches took a long while to come out, we had finished by the time hers arrived.

Nook is a charming and cozy restaurant located just off Cheap Street, offering a curated selection of tasty and nutritious breakfast options, smoothies, poke bowls, and buddha bowls. The limited indoor seating makes it an ideal spot for a quick meal or takeaway service. The menu caters to both vegans and omnivores with options like bang bang chicken and fish dishes. Visitors can also enjoy hot beverages and colorful healthy fruit smoothies.
Passing through Frome and randomly picked Nook because of its proximity to where we parked. Was happily surprised by the ambience and food quality! Excellent and healthy food options. The food here is delicious as are the drinks and cakes. Genuinely something for everyone. Only drawback is it's a small space so sitting in isn't always guaranteed but the takeaway packaging is very good and convenient so isn't really an issue.

This place is amazing! So much flavour in their poke bowls and the PBJ smoothie is divine (if you like peanut butter!) I was too excited to take a pic before eating my bowl..
Hannah W — Google review
Went there during opening hours albeit towards the end of the day. They wouldn't make me a smoothie cos they turned off the smoothie machine. I then bought one of their food items on the stand. When I got home it smelt like fish amd crumbled on touching. Poor quality. I have been there before and enjoyed their smoothies. But if you advertise opening hours then surely you need to be able to serve your menu at those time. If you stop serving the menu at 1550 then adjust your closing hours accordingly so people trying to catch some food aren't left disappointed.

Absolutely wonderful place, so good we returned two nights in a row! The food is excellent with lots of choice. Had a lasagne the first night and a burger the next. The portions are huge and extremely tasty! The staff are all lovely friendly and welcoming, a busy lovely place well worth the visit

Our first visit here and there were four adults plus one dog in our party. The room was not as expected looked a nit run down but clean. Don't let this put you off as we were in there because of having a dog with us therr are plenty of other rooms. We all ordered Sunday lunch. There were four meats and vegetarian on offer. The waitress was very attentive and polite and checked we were happy with the order. The food arrived well presented and tasted wonderful. The meat was tender and plenty od choice of vegetables, the gravy was lovely. We eat every bit. After we had a dessert of lovely apple crumble for three of us and sticky toffee pudding for one. That again was well presented and very enjoyable. The staff are lovely very friendly and polite nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this place to anyone and we will return there when next in the area.

We were looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening and weren’t local to the area. We ended up here and was shown to a table by a very friendly lady. After around 15 minutes of trying to work out the menu we almost walked out but my goodness I’m pleased we didn’t!!. The food was out of this world which just wasn’t reflected in the menu. I don’t know if it was the confusing menu, the layout, thespelling mistakes or what, but please don’t be put off by the menu as the food is one of the nicest meals we’ve had for a very long time.
Emma B — Google review
Local pub for birthday dinner. Saw social media posts advertising steaks cooked on stone and they looked delicious so thought we would give it a try. The food and service did not disappoint. My son had the stone cooked steak and loved it. Myself and my husband went for tapas dishes plus gourmet nachos. Stand out dishes were the crispy pork ribs with salt and pepper, hallumi and the Chippots which were delicious.

I booked this on the strength of the reviews I read on Google. The location concerned me when we turned up and you can see at some point in its history it has been a night club HOWEVER.....the service was friendly and the food was amazing! I don't think I have ever seen a steak'n'ale pie like it! Thoroughly recommend!

My family and I had an amazing evening for my son’s 14th birthday. We were made to feel absolutely welcome and the staff went above and beyond making my son’s night special. Thank you SO MUCH. You weren’t aware but he has special needs and struggles with public events. But you guys unconsciously did everything to make his night memorable (for good reasons)
Ian — Google review
We chose to dine here after seeing an advertisement in the window promoting their "No.1 Sunday Roasts" and "King Roasts." Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the promise. The Diet Coke, poured from a bottle, was flat. The roast featured thin slices of meat that tasted like a microwave meal, and the vegetables were dry and unappetising. On a positive note, the service was friendly. However, based on the food quality, I wouldn’t return to eat here again.
Joel ( — Google review
Our first feed in Frome after two days of travelling across the globe with a dog, and it was just what we needed. Warm, helpful service with just the right amount of cheekiness. Tapas unexpectedly high-end and actually better, in our opinion, than the small plates at the much-vaunted Little Walcot up the hill. We'd just arrived from Argentina, so you'll forgive us for skipping the roasts and steaks, but we'll try them next time. My daughter gave high marks to the smoked applewood burger; my wife and I shared a pie and mash -- delicious and more than enough for us. We'll be regulars, here, no question.

Food and service was great, sat by the window with a nice breeze. The decor is quirky but cool, plenty of seating upstairs and outside. Staff were very good at clearing the tables and cleaning up. So many nice things on the menu made it difficult to choose, food arrived promptly and was nice and hot. Definitely recommend it and now we have found one nearby to us we are going to visit.

It's a lovely place to get brunch but I will say, book on the weekend otherwise you may end up sitting outside in the cold 😂 the food was good and the drinks too. Nothing crazily but good enough! It's your classic Lounge experience. The staff was very friendly and the food came quickly. The atmosphere again classic Lounge, very quirky and cosy. I would recommend it, good price for what you get too!

After looking at all the reserved tables we asked if we could sit at one seeing as it was reserved for 3 hours later & the waitress said yes. A lot of people left after seeing all the reserved tables so I guess Loungers don't mind money going out the door. Had a sausage & egg sandwich which was nice, would of been better with brown sauce but waitress never came back after she asked us if we wanted any sauces.

I had a great time with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was wonderful, and we appreciated being able to order from the table using our phones, which meant no waiting at the bar to place our orders. The food was delicious, but for the price, the portions were smaller than what you might find at a local pub. It's perfect for small bites to eat, but not for a full meal. Cafe La Strada, a beloved family-owned establishment in Frome, has been serving locals and tourists for over two decades. The cafe is renowned for its illy specialty coffee and an array of hot and cold beverages, including delectable milkshakes made with their homemade ice cream. Situated at the end of medieval Cheap Street, the cafe's standout feature is its ice cream and sorbet counter, offering flavors made in-house using organic milk from a nearby farm.
Walked in for an iced tea after a hectic day. Delicious and rich peach flavour, only 4£! There is so much variety, from drinks to chocolates to gelato. Location is central, in a picturesque street. Staff is lovely and efficient.

I have always loved La Strada - the staff, ice cream, coffee and food have always been wonderful. This morning whilst waiting for my coffee I was feeding my baby and despite being short staffed someone noticed and offered/brought me a glass of water without me asking. They read my mind before even I had a chance to! That little bit of kindness has set me up for the day, thank you La Strada!

Popped in for tea and cake. A lovely place to visit with friendly staff who helpfully recommend what delicious cakes to have. It wasn't busy on the late Saturday afternoon when we visited and managed to get the window seat looking on to the church. Just a lovely place to drink tea and have a catch up.

Ou visiting in Frome and looking for a quick bite to eat. Strongly recommend a Reuben or veggie pesto panini, coffee also superb. Well worth a visit and searching out. Cakes also looked first class, sadly too full to participate!
The W — Google review
La Strada is our favourite place to have brunch in Frome. We are very lucky to have such a great selection here, but this just tops it for us. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and are engaging when you ask for a recommendation. The place is always busy, which is a sign of its popularity. There is seating over two floors, so you have plenty of choice. The food is consistently excellent. Our go-to choices are the English breakfast and the club sandwich. The English breakfast is made with high-quality local ingredients and this shows in the taste. It isn't greasy, which is a relief, as so many cooked breakfasts can be. Toast is extra, but there's already plenty on the plate. The club sandwich is unbelievably moreish. I always try to have something else when we visit, to broaden my horizons, but I see it on the menu and I order it because it is so comforting to eat. It's also the perfect amount, with the four quarters of sandwich and a sensible portion of crispy fries in the middle. Ask for some garlic mayo with them for top-level tastiness! The coffee is Illy brand, which is great quality and reliably tasty. They have an array of other hot and cold drinks available, if coffee isn't to your liking. The cakes are also excellent quality and extremely tasty. My partner is a great fan of the humble flapjack; it is his automatic sweet choice when out having a coffee. The flapjack at La Strada is highly rated by him. I can personally recommend the Pastel de Almendras and also the yoghurt-coated slice. The prices are reasonable (in my opinion), with two meals and two coffees coming to around £16-17 per person. So, if you're visiting Frome and wondering where to have a great bite to eat, this is the place.
Rebecca P — Google review
Cafe la Strada is a refreshingly good example of a well run independent café. The food is better than good and the service outstanding. The Spanish almond cakes are probably the best cake I've eaten in many years. The food is really well prepared and cooked on site. The cleanliness exceeded my wife's high requirements and frankly I'm contemplating going back just for the cake and coffee.

Not what you normally expect to find on a trading estate - and the name is not exactly a giveaway - but they obviously know a thing or two about marketing and this cafe is totally brilliant. Had the breakfast (takeaway) and ordered an extra hash brown which was forgotten about. One rasher of bacon is very stingy and had about 3 mushrooms. The sausage was probably the best part and the strawberry milkshake was good but £17 for a very underwhelming breakfast (including milkshake) is ludicrous in my opinion.

We eat here every week, great food and service every time. Good atmosphere - my only complaint is the use of plastic flowers on the tables - have we not moved on in our relationship with plastics

Pub
The Three Swans, located in the heart of Frome, is a historic pub with a cozy atmosphere. Reopened in 2014, it offers a perfect setting to enjoy drinks, homemade snacks, and traditional board games. Whether you're looking for a quiet break from shopping or an evening of fun and laughter, this small yet charming pub has something for everyone.
Very nice pub. Very nice and attentive waiters. Very original in its decoration and with 3 different and very well decorated rooms. Variety of beers and good quality. We will be back...

Stepping into this pub felt like traveling back in time—in the best way possible. This charming vintage pub is packed with character, from its worn wooden floors and antique chandeliers to the mismatched furniture that somehow all works together to create a cozy, nostalgic vibe. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with dim lighting and a classic rock playlist that added to the laid-back, retro mood. It’s the kind of place where you can actually hear your conversation but still enjoy the hum of a lively crowd. The drinks menu was a perfect mix of old-school favorites and house specials. I had a perfectly poured Guinness, and my friend tried their signature gin cocktail served in a vintage teacup—both were excellent. They also had a solid selection of craft beers and some rare whiskies for enthusiasts. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the pub’s history. One bartender even shared a fun story about how some of the old decor came from a 1920s hotel. If you’re looking for a place with personality, great drinks, and a relaxed, vintage atmosphere, this pub is a hidden gem. I’ll definitely be back.

A fantastic visit to this wonderful pub. I stopped here for some light refreshment and was greeted by a charming young man who turned out to be the landlord. Blair made our group feel so comfortable and happy and I will be visiting again. The snacks behind the bar are all encompassing and the drink selection and charm so perfect for this market town.

I loved it, not solely because I was able to put my 80's hip hop knowledge to good use in the pop quiz (winning, ahem, team 😝), but because of the Butcombe beer, the uber-cool clientele 😉, interesting decor, the relaxed and friendly staff, the horse trough urinal....ohh, the-what-now??😭🐴💦😅

Lovely old pub. Look at the men's urinal! Proper old school. Not sure about all the stuffed animals. Taxidermists would love it. We only had drinks here but felt really cosy. Friendly service.
Richard A — Google review
Young woman behind the bar with long black hair is extremely rude and has a bad attitude for no reason, a real shame if you ask me because it could be a nice pub.
Terry L — Google review
Very friendly little pub with excellent well kept real ale, only a couple of hand pumps but you don't need lots of options when the beer is good. There is wood panelling which looks like it's from a church, and stylish bar stools. Service helpful and friendly, bar maid appeared to know all the locals!

Tucked away in the charming town of Frome, Coop Kitchen at The Ship is a delightful pub that offers a cozy atmosphere paired with an inviting beer garden. This culinary gem is particularly renowned for its hearty burgers, crispy wings, and mouthwatering poutine, all complemented by an impressive selection of craft brews and cask ales.
Great and interesting food! Very quiet when I went on a Monday evening but I imagine it gets quite busy. Decent prices for food you wouldn't usually have. I'm not usually a beef burger person but the smash burger was great! And their halloumi is quite different to usual halloumi but was great!

We visited your restaurant, which advertises an opening time of 3 PM. However, upon arrival, we found the establishment still closed at 3:45 PM. After knocking on the door, a staff member informed us that the restaurant might open in 30 minutes, though there was no certainty. Additionally, we were told the kitchen would not begin service until 5 PM. As loyal patrons, we value clear communication and reliable service. Travelling a considerable distance with the expectation of enjoying your offerings, only to face such uncertainty, is disappointing. This situation not only undermines customer confidence but also reflects poorly on the establishment’s commitment to its clientele. We hope this feedback is taken constructively and that steps are taken to ensure greater consistency in the future.

Lovely food! glad I came with a local as not very clear signage and you had to ask for a menu which are kept underneath the bar! I feel there could be better description on the Menu as even the special house sauce is quite spicy! Tater tots are amazing. Staff where very attentive and happy to help and spend time helping :) very nice evening in a lovely atmosphere !

Lovely welcome from the barman, offered us great choice of bitters for our bitter shandies. The place had a great feel, and a lovely beer garden. However, the food was not good value. £21 bought us two shandies and two cheesy chips. While the shandies were LOVELY, the chips were small servings, unseasoned, slightly overcooked, and had melted cheese that had almost no flavour (melted mature cheddar would have been so much nicer). People should still come here, as the other food coming out looked nice, and the beer and welcome was great. However, the chips are a quick win that needs to be sorted to provide a decent snack to go with beer.

Went out for a meal with friends. Lovely place, food was tasty, great gluten free options and fab atmosphere. We stayed for a few drinks afterwards too. It was busy without being over crowded. Can't wait to go back.
J M — Google review
Tasty food with an exceptional seitan based vegetarian menu. Great flavours and a wide selection of beers, ales and ciders on tap. Only criticism is that some of the portions are a little small. For example, a portion of fries is £4 and feels fairly meager. The staff were all very friendly. 4* for atmosphere as it was very quiet - perhaps (likely?) Because we were there on a Sunday evening.
Ali M — Google review
Food was amazing! Had the dirty fries, korean chicken burger and some buffalo tenders. Really well prepared exceptional flavour and texture and came out in good time. The sesame mayo on the burger in particular was god tier! Not a fan of the baskets, though. Service was fine, bartenders were really freindky and helpful, but the chap who brought our food out was very flustered and transactional. Drinks were modestly priced (£8 for a pint of Guinness and a half an Inch's cider) and really nice. This is absolutely the best food of this kind in Frome. Nowhere else comes close!

Step into Inoshishi Izakaya, a Japanese-inspired culinary gem located in the heart of Frome, Somerset. The name 'Inoshishi' is derived from a Japanese wild boar breed known for its distinctive white mustache, reflecting the restaurant's bold and powerful flavors. Visitors rave about the delectable karaage chicken and an array of delicious dishes and drinks. The ambiance is delightful, service impeccable, and portion sizes generous.
We had a wonderful meal here. The menu is similar to Tapas where you choose a few different dishes. We had salmon, lamb, aubergine and rice. It was all beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The staff who served us were very friendly. We would definitely come here again. (In the photos we had started to divide the food as me and my husband shared each plate.)
Debora W — Google review
Loved dining at Inoshishi Izakaya, located in the charming town of Frome. Every dish we sampled from the menu was absolutely delicious, bursting with bold flavours and authenticity, and a masterclass in presentation. We had: - Tomato salad from the specials board - Charred aubergine with miso butter sauce - Grilled oyster mushroom skewer, umeboshi - Chicken karaage, aonori, ginger sauce - Soy glazed pork belly, kuri squash tempura, yuzu pepper jus - Sticky rice, furkaki - Matcha fondant The karaage chicken was hands-down one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever eaten and who knew mushrooms could taste so good?! The restaurant has such a cool, laid-back vibe with traditional Japanese touches throughout I love when the restaurant’s team give recommendations - especially as I’m not fussy - and it’s always a nice touch to know their favourite dishes. Great recommendations from the team For more food and travel reviews, check out my foodie Instagram - hungry_hesketh

We found the main dishes were rather bland and under seasoned. Wagyu beef was quite fatty and chewy. Chicken was just a standard thigh again underwhelming. Service good but very slow for a lunchtime. We left disappointed.

Had a wonderful dinner here. Service was super friendly and relaxed. Food was absolutely fantastic. The highlights were the crispy salmon, which was perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth and also the best tempura I've ever had. My one, very, very, tiny criticism was the Chicken Karaage was just overcooked slightly although still delicious. I wish we lived closer so we could come back soon!

Visiting Inoshishi put me into a food coma 😵 I had high expectations going in and luckily the food and atmosphere delivered. Pretty building with views of Frome from the first floor. The standout for me was the incredible ponzu chicken, super saucy yet so crispy. The aubergine was also gorgeous and wakame seaweed salad was so tasty. All the food was seemingly quite lovingly prepared. The only point I would raise is that I would've loved to have my bento box from the lunch menu served playfully in an actual bento box. I'd be happy to visit again, especially to try their larger dinner menu ⭐

Popped in for an early lunch on 11/7. The food was very good, authentic and well-presented. This place is a little gem in Frome! The miso soup and rice was very good. This is a good measure of a Japanese restaurant. If they can't get this right, then you don't return. In this case, all was very well. We enjoyed sashimi, katsu curry and a grilled salmon bento box. The restaurant was quiet at the time, so the atmosphere was a little flat. But there a many tables on the ground and first floors and I'm sure it's a lively, bustling place in the evenings. Service was good and the staff knew their tamanegi. We will be back!
Steve W — Google review
Pre-COVID, I was a frequent visitor to Japan and am enamoured by the country and its cuisine. I was VERY excited when I noticed that there was a Japanese restaurant "close" to home so ventured there for lunch over the weekend. While the cuisine was not bad ... I was disappointed by the whole experience. Upon entering there was no familiar greeting/irasshaimase from the Staff and Chef. The table was clean and neat ... lovely water glasses ... chopsticks - the room, bland but "authentically" so. The menus are informative - although more explanation of the sake on offer would have been good. The meal itself was 3/5. The pork katsu curry was tasty but the "sauce" was more Indian than Japanese, the vegetable tempura was not oily - great - although the dip was rather spicy, the miso soup was delicious as was the rice (!). The Bento Box is the way forward and the chicken yakatori was cooked well ... although the red sliced chillies in the greens did overpower what is meant to be a subtle dish. The Inoshishi lager was tasty. The service was polite and speedy. For an easy lunch - £50 inc. tip for two was acceptable. BUT next time I get the urge for a (better) Bento Box - and a more authentic Japanese experience - I will head to Bristol, London or next year, Osaka! Is Inoshishi Izakaya trying to be a "Japanese restaurant" or just a restaurant that serves Japanese (inspired) cuisine ... ?
Varun S — Google review
I love the atmosphere here and thought the service was impeccable and the food!! Well you must try it. When placing our order, we were a bit flummoxed. We were advised by the waiter to have 3 from here, 2 from there and 1 from here, and it was just right. Beautiful flavours, excellent presentation!! So we had: Wakame sanbaizo shiso Cabbage, sesame and onion Sticky rice Pork tsukune Chicken karaage Koji salmon I thought that the food was amazing and very good portions. But if, during the meal, you think that you are hungrier than you thought, then my advice would be to order another rice. We didn't have wine but we did have water on the table and we had a cocktail each. A great asset to Frome and I hope it does well. This is the place to try Japanese food if you've never tried it before.

Visited Lungi Babas today in Frome and, hand to God, had the best South Indian food so far in the UK. It was all home-cooked, the vibe was fantastic and the owner, Mahesh, is such a delight to talk to. We had been craving authentic Dosas, and what we were presented with was exceptionally good. For a person like me who enjoys eating as well as cooking Indian food, the food at Lungi Babas was a treat!!! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Reall authentic Indian food. Seating is outside, on rustic wooden/ reclaimed furniture. Bustling/ easy going atmosphere. We found this place with our noses, from one of the near by shops. Before you know it, we are eating this incredible meal, which has so much flavour. The fried eggplant ❤️🍆👌 I would say this has been my favourite Indian meal since being there 6+ years ago. Couldn't recommend more. Great prices too!

Some of the best food in Frome! My partner and I really love Indian food, we decided to order an evening takeaway from Lungi Babas. We expected it to be good but this meal far exceed that expectation. It is some of the best Indian food we have ever tried - the coriander chutney was just to die for! On top of all the deliciousness, the owner Mahesh was more than happy to cater for my very difficult intolerances. Thanks for a beautiful meal, we will without a doubt be back. :)

We should have just walked out. We booked a table over the phone on Monday for Friday Evening and the booking could not be found, but, because we were staying with them they gave us a table at the far end of the restaurant near the kitchen plate collection area and also where there scrape the leftovers into a bucket. The door to the passageway nearby was open and it was very cold and draughty. The table was an ornament table, not a dining table. It had an awkward central leg segment so nowhere for knees so you had to straddle it or sit side saddle, it was very uncomfortable and when we asked to be moved a slim tall self-important male told us we couldn't as they were fully booked... bearing in mind this was 6:15 pm and there were only a few people in the restaurant. (Incidentally, by the time we left there were still many unoccupied tables). We had a drink even though we felt very cold and uncomfortable. We ordered the minimum so that we could get out quickly and find somewhere nicer. The food was bland and the flavours were very 1990s ie dull. The young staff were lovely. The older ones were not. Overall, very dated attitudes towards customers and guests, and uninspired food and furniture.

The Cheese Lord is a charming and traditional cheesemonger in town, offering a fantastic selection of locally sourced cheeses for every occasion. The owner, Martin, is known for his kindness, humor, and extensive knowledge about cheese. Visitors can expect a warm welcome and the opportunity to taste various cheeses while chatting with the passionate and charismatic "cheese whisperer." This hidden gem provides an opportunity to support the local community while indulging in high-quality artisanal cheeses.
Maybe The Cheese Lord is an 'old-fashioned cheesemonger' but I don't think I've ever met one of those, so let me explain: Martin is kind, funny, chatty and knows an awful lot about cheese. He's also like what I imagine to be an old-fashioned shopkeeper in the sense that he is always kind, well-informed and happy to pass the time of day with customers and passing folk. You'll find (and be allowed to taste!) an awful lot of fabulous cheese on his stall, but you'll also find yourself enriched by an interaction with a marvellous human.

There are plenty of independent business, arts and community reasons to take a walk out to Station Approach if you're ever in Frome (regardless of whether you actually need a train) however Sir Martin the Cheese Lord may well be the very best of them! "A supplier of a wide variety of British cheeses, he really does aim to pleases and is very good at shooting-the-breezes" :) In all seriousness this is a wonderful local business run by a knowledgeable and warm character. We loved all the cheeses we picked up to have later that night, and everyone we saw with cheeseboards looked pretty impressed with their goodies too. Highly recommended if you like your cheese, or your chatter!

A most interesting and tasty cheese filled evening at the inaugural Cheesy AF evening. Two hours of cheese and alcohol free beers, wines and cider. Martin took us through 8 different cheeses all paired with a different alcohol free drink. The most delicious cheese and great to try some of the AF alternatives. Martin is definitely the Lord of Cheese.

Loads and loads and loads of fabulous cheeses, pretty much all UK made, (probably 100%!!) from a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic/passionate seller of cheeses, the Cheese Lord himself. Nestled in a historic building dating back to 1690, the Frome Flyer Beefeater is a stylish chain pub that offers an inviting atmosphere for all. Originally a coaching inn, it now features en-suite accommodations across charming cottage buildings and serves up classic international favorites alongside mouthwatering grill dishes and burgers. The menu boasts delectable options like aged 10oz ribeye steaks, grilled to perfection and accompanied by hearty sides such as chunky triple-cooked chips and peppercorn sauce.
The Beefeater Frome Flyer is in a really convenient spot, just a short walk from Gracie Barra Frome Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which makes it our go-to place to grab a bite after training. The team often pops in after classes, and it’s always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The buffet breakfast is a real highlight—great value, plenty of choice, and perfect after a tough morning session on the mats! Consistently good service, decent portion sizes, and a nice place to relax with the team after training. Highly recommend if you’re in Frome, whether for a casual meal or a post-training breakfast.

Staff were really helpful but the breakfast was appalling. I can only describe the fried eggs as chewy. Sausages very overcooked. Beans cold. Pancakes really dry. Some of the furniture desperately needs recovering.

Absolutely appalling, RUDE staff. We stayed in the Premier Inn next door, and on the first night of our stay went to eat here. The restaraunt was very busy, with not enough staff to serve everyone. Our table had dirty plates and glasses on it which we had to clear ourselves, when asked if the table could be cleaned, the bar maid handed my friend a cloth to wipe it ourselves. We were told by people sat at the table next to us that there was a crew of 400+ eating there as they were filming nearby. The resteraunt was fully booked and so surely they should have been able to recognise that it was going to be a busy evening and to get extra staff; apparently not. Our food did not come out together, with the adult meals arriving significantly before the childrens meals. This meant that there were three hungry children sat without any food. I queued at the bar (significant wait) to chase this up and was told that food wouldn't be long. We then sat down and waited but the food still did not come. I asked a member of staff who walked past where the rest of our food was, only to be told very rudely and curtly to go and enquire at the bar. Following a further wait, I went to chase the food up again only to be told that the rude man was in fact the manager. He told us that they were busy and that the food is still being made: by now the adults had finished our meals and the children were getting really inpatient and wanted their food. When the food came, the burger my son ordered was undercooked but by this point we had enough, so left and got them a mcdonalds. As part of our booking we had paid for breakfast and had a similiar experience from rude staff the following morning when we went down for breakfast. When we checked in next door, we booked a 9am breakfast slot, we gave our room numbers to the waitress only to be quizzed as to whether we had booked: the restaraunt was virtually empty and we could see our room numbers on her list in front of her. We explained we had booked a 9 am slot, only to be challenged further, "but have you booked a table", which we replied well presumabley, which was followed by an eye roll from the rude waitress who took us to our table. After we left she called after us, "thank you", in a sarcastic tone. Seriously rude staff with a massive attitude problem, i would not recommend anyone staying at the Premier Inn to eat here.
Laura J — Google review
Booked here 3 weeks in advance for a family breakfast as we were staying nearby. Unfortunately, although stating that breakfast is served until 10.30, when we arrived at our booked time of 10.15, there was nothing left. The Manager, Mark was fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. He had breakfast made for us and offered us a discount as well. So although it started as a frustrating experience, he sorted it with no issue. I think the website should make it clearer that there may not be anything left towards the end (and the chefs reluctant to replenish) and then the nice staff wouldn't get the problems!

We hadn't booked, but were seated no problem, after some 20mins Emily took our drinks order, then about 15mins later she took our food order, there was limited starters as they were out of chicken goujons breaded mushrooms and prawns, so we went for crispy chicken wings and they were hot and tasty, my main was fine but hubby's steak and ale pie crust was burnt and too hard to eat, also his peas were gross so he returned his meal, Emily was apologetic and ordered the replacement pie meal, when this came it was much better although the peas were still dreadful, the restaurant wasn't over busy, on the whole not the best beefeater meal but our server Emily was doing her best to rectify things and should be recommended! Picture of replacement meal below.

Overall I had a very pleasant time here. I have seen some bad reviews, but none of the issues I've read were present for me. I was seated very quickly, my order was taken promptly and the food arrived within around 20 minutes. The chicken burger I had was very tasty. The server forgot my cutlery at first but rectified it quickly. Considering how busy it was, I was very impressed on the whole. I would return for sure.
K P — Google review
On the plus side I had a perfectly cooked blue fillet steak and my husband's ribs were good. Also the waitress was lovely. This is why I have given 3 stars, otherwise it would have been one star! Basically they had no food! They had run out of all of the starters and the majority of the mains, the only steak was fillet, no chicken, no mixed grill, and when our main courses arrived there were items missing, no tomato or mushroom with the steak, no corn or sauce with the ribs and when we queried it with the male server a brusque "we haven't got any". I have never experienced anything quite like this, can't wait for breakfast 😂.

Stopped for lunch whilst visiting Frome. Dog friendly and a welcoming atmosphere. Served by very pleasant staff. Our meals were hot and tasty ,reasonably priced. Very generous portions.

Great experience. Had to book into the George as a last minute emergency booking. First impressions were positive. Lovely bar area and friendly staff. Check in process was easy. As mentioned, the stairs up to the room were pretty steep and the upkeep was a bit hit n miss. Had a single room (25) and it was nicely furnished and extremely clean. The bed was very comfortable and after a stressful day, it was nice to have a shower and jump into bed for a decent nights sleep. Minor criticisms are, few damp patches on ceiling, kind of dragged the nicely furnished room down a bit and as I was there during a heatwave, the small window provided little ventilation. Not sure if fans were available from reception but if not, could be an idea, especially for the upstairs rooms?? But I'm being picky. I didn't eat at the hotel but the food looked good, staff friendly and helpful, bar area was lovely and overall I thoroughly recommend this hotel. Thank you for providing me with a place to stay at the last minute!!

My first time in Frome and all staff members made me feel at home the moment I walked through the door, super friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for a better reception! Location is central and price was very reasonable - Room spotless and had clean towels ready to go etc. The best part? The food is amazing! Included breakfast goes above and beyond other places I've stayed. I also paid for dinner here and was not disappointed - Great to see more than 1 veggie/vegan option on both breakfast & dinner menus and compliments to the chef because the food is top quality. 10/10 will stay here again.

We stopped at The George for lunch. We had Shepherd Pie Croquettes and Korean Chicken Bites from the new menu. They were both delicious and would recommend them. We were then tempted by the Autumn Eton Mess, a tasty combination of lemon curd, poached pear and fig. Thanks to Vicky for the friendly service.
Carole C — Google review
Beautiful hotel, very clean and the staff were so helpful. Very good value for money. The food was delicious and the location was perfect, we used it as a base to visit Glastonbury and Wells. Frome is a very sweet place with its cobbled streets and independent shops. We are definitely adding it to our 'return to' list!

Visited the Granary today for first time. Lovely place friendly staff. My reason for 2 stars is that on checking receipt when home (my fault) didn't realise we had been charged £15 just for a plain Chicken Burger with no extra sides!!!! Definitely over priced so not happy.
John G — Google review
Chicken and ham pie was good. Fish burger good. Salmon quiche was good. Toilets were clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Flies in the dining room need dealing with though as they were also there last time we went and were being a nuisance!
Sandra H — Google review
The hotel was cheap and it served its purpose. The staff were nice and the food in the restaurant was nice enough. The hotel layout itself was quite labyrinthian, going up and down stairs, and down winding corridors to find our room. Some of the door frames were very very low, like around 5’5”, inside and outside the room. The bedroom was dated, no aircon other than a small fan they provided. The shower was horrible and the water drained so slowly that I had to turn it off halfway through so not to flood the bathroom. The shower was also extremely small and uncomfortable to use. As you can see from my attached photos, the bathroom walls were also stained/marked with dark patches that looked a lot like mold, and some of the painting was also peeling off. The bedroom windows were also very dated and let a lot of sound in from the noisy street below. The booking.com page listed free parking, there is a small on-site car park that requires a code from reception to unlock a padlock to access. However this car park was full when we arrived and throughout our entire stay, so we couldn’t use it - I think the booking.com listing shouldn’t advertise ‘free parking’ if it cannot accommodate at least one car per room. Overall it was a disappointing stay, but it was fairly cheap so I didn’t go in with the highest expectations, and we didn’t spend too much time in the rooms. But the bathrooms were especially unpleasant.

Meat in curry was tough (chicken) butter chicken expressed this 3x before at the end offered us one to take home. We politely accepted but who wants to eat curry after a meal at home. They said it was because it was tandoori I’ve eaten in a lot of Indian it was because it was old cheap chicken. I wouldn’t go there again

Don't eat here if you have allergies! I have enjoyed food here before (mainly takeaway, and once enjoyed their Sunday buffet), but I was astounded when I tried to ask about allergens, as my son is allergic to dairy. There is no allergen info on the menus online so I rang up to ask. The man who answered was incredibly uneducated on allergens. I said about a cows milk allergy and he seemed really confused, so I said it again, and said dairy. I asked if there was any dairy in the meat samosa and got this shocking response: "it's meat so he can't have it". "No, he can have meat, it's cows milk he can't have" "But milk comes from the animal so he can't have the meat". 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Are you for real?! I promptly told him if he didn't understand allergies I wasn't ordering as I wasn't risking my child getting ill.

We ordered a delivery after our wedding at Orchardleigh Estate. Food arrived on time and it was warm. We ordered their Biryani, daal, paneer jalfrezi and few other dishes. Biryani and paneer dishes were delicious. Paneer was soft and tasty. However, Papadom was soft and sauce wasn't that great . We had tummy upset and tummy ache after the food which wasn't a great experience at all. Pros: Delicious food and timely delivery Cons: Food wasn't cooked or done properly as it gave us a tummy ache.

The 850-person capacity main room hosts live concerts or DJ nights on weekends, featuring various music genres.
Great atmosphere, lovely little venue. Didn't feel too crowded despite being at capacity for CMAT, reasonably priced drinks, efficient ticket scanning, friendly staff and nice outdoor seating area. There was a kebab van on site that looked very good but we didn't eat there, maybe next time.
Catherine — Google review
Came to see a gig here with friends. Great venue with lots of parking. Really efficient to get in and never a long wait for a drink. The only negative was getting out of the carpark. Easily took half an hour, and we just weren’t moving.
Rachel W — Google review
Genuinely the worst seating arrangements I've ever experienced at a venue, and I've been to an eclectic mix of events in the last 40 years. Tiny temporary seats all wedged up against each other. I literally found the neighbouring man half in my seat when I arrived because that was the natural amount of space he occupied even as a slim adult; everyone was sat like sardines cheek by jowl on all sides. Stage unviewable once everyone seated, and a tiny screen to show photos on, and you could see other people in the audience straining at angles to get any kind of glimpse of the person we'd all paid £39 per ticket to see. By the interval we were so uncomfortable we walked out. If I could implore the venue to do one thing it's to invest in some collapsible raked seating like Westlands has. It's utterly preposterous that C&G is calling itself Somerset's leading venue with facilities like this for this price bracket. Never going to anything here again. Really disappointing waste of an evening, a long drive and £80.
Nicola S — Google review
We went to see the red hot chilli PIPERS! Brilliant, amazing, fantastic! Great venue, not overcrowded, you can get right to the front and feel like you're part of the band, or hang back ( still very intimate)and just enjoy the music. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Mandie H — Google review
Great venue. Visited multiple times and often go for coffee with the friends of discount it is one of the best places in town to go for a reasonably priced barista coffee. On gig nights it’s got the best beer selection of any venue I’ve visited, featuring local breweries.
Thomas P — Google review
Nice staff. Easy parking in bit difficult to leave if everyone else does at the same time. Airy venue not stuffy. Good enough for Nick Mason of Pink Floyd.
Muttley D — Google review
For some reason the venue only wants you to use 3 of their toilets. 1000 people were evicted at the end of goldie lookin chain with a queue of 20 people.trying to access 3 male and 3 female loos as they shut people in the bar area. People were using whatever they could, walls etc. A good venue but not enough facilities made available for then number of people. Just 20 minutes access to the facilities would have prevented some appalling public health issues.

I would just like to say a very big thankyou to Jade Preddy Event Manager, for her help last night with my health issues. Once again, a fantastic gig at this place. A mixed and diverse crowd showing their support for Whitesnake UK. Cracking band.

Visited this place to watch a local band, (Sam Evans). First thing I noticed was that NO KIDS are allowed. I guess it's not a family orientated establishment. The place itself was lovely. Loads of outside seating, a sizeable bar, pool table, sport TV, and of course, the Treehouse. The gig room is small, but very well equipped with its own bar, sound system and lighting. There's enough room for about 100 people or so I guess. It was a fantastic atmosphere in The Treehouse, but the lower main bar was maybe not so welcoming. Either way, it's a great place to have a pint and enjoy some amazing music.

Takeout Restaurant
Village Spice is a well-established Indian restaurant and takeaway known for its diverse selection of authentic Indian cuisine. Despite the current cost of living crisis, the prices remain reasonable without significant hikes. The menu caters to both vegetarians and meat lovers, offering plenty of options for everyone. While the ambiance may not be extravagant, the focus on high-quality food compensates for it. Customers praise the well-prepared dishes with balanced flavors and attractive presentation.
What this restaurant lacks in decor and atmosphere, it makes up in the quality of its food. We had mix starters and chicken tikka, followed by a chicken dhansak and a lamb pathia. All dishes were well prepared, had the right balance of flavours and were well presented. This was the Sunday special at less than a tenner a head for 2 courses. BYOB certainly helps to keep the costs down. Excellent service by Molly who kept the restaurant ticking over. Worthy of more visits in the future and would certainly recommend.

I came here a long while ago. If you want a cheap and quick breakfast then this place is great. I did feel a little let down customer service wise. I asked for no baked beans with my breakfast, when it was brought out with beans, I politely stated I asked for none and the chef didn't say anything and gave quite a rude look and went to change it. I did hear the microwave pinging constantly in the background, so I am not sure how much of the breakfast is cooked fresh. Ideal if you're very hungry and need to eat quickly.
Bethany F — Google review
Wish I could have given 0 stars.. went to Order 2 breakfasts (1 x small, 1 x luxury) which come with a free tea, asked to change to coffee and then realised I had to pay £1.85 for a spoon full of lidls decaffeinated coffee and some hot water as the offer was only for a cup of tea.. SERIOUSLY?? Wouldnt consider swapping some bacon for tinned tomatoes (sure the tomatoes were probably cheaper) £17,00 for 2 breakfasts and a cheap cup of coffee to me was outrageous. Refused to pay for any of it and left.. will never ever go there again. It's totally changed since from the original ladies back 10 years ago.. what a let down!

During my recent visit to their Frome location, I was greeted by the warm smiles of the staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. Friendly staff, clean, good coffee (consistent with other Costas). Cake options to price as expected; over priced. But if you fancy something then they always have something. I do think some sound proofing might be warranted, as oh boy are some of the machines loud (but this is at every Costa)

Went into Frome for a look around and as always when visiting places like this you have to get some refreshments,so we popped into Costa Coffee shop,I had a ham and cheddar cheese panini and the Mrs had a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich both being very tasty,I must admit I do like a bit of salad with these sort of snacks but none was on offer, never mind it filled the gap and it was a lovely cuppa.

The staff are always super-friendly. Normally have a latte, but with the scorching weather, we had the mint choc chip and strawberry and cream frappes, which went down well, although a bit on the expensive side. The toilets smelt really nice and looked clean. My only gripe are the seats, which look a little on the stained side, but then they are quite busy.

I have been ordering from burrito Boi for a few years now, the food & drinks have never disappointed. Whether you're eating in at their lovely restaurant or taking away everything is always spot on! I love them so much that my husband and I even used them to cater our wedding this year. Again the service was nothing less than perfect! 150 burritos + Mac and cheese balls served to very happy guests. I still have compliments now on how much everyone enjoyed the food. I really cannot recommend Burrito Boi enough whether it's a night out, event or just a take away.

Pub
Nestled in the charming Keyford area, The Crown Inn is a delightful pub steeped in history, dating back to the mid-1600s. Recently refurbished, it boasts a cozy interior adorned with unique decor and a spacious courtyard garden illuminated by twinkling lights. Guests can enjoy an array of delectable offerings, including mouthwatering Thai cuisine from its on-site restaurant.
This old-going-on-ancient pub, features in the new CAMERA book 'Real Heritage Pubs of the South West,' one of a series of books delineating pubs whose interiors are as near as the it was when the pub was first opened. A fascinating book which if followed will take one to fascinating places. And The Crown is one such, dating back to the late 17th century. Recently taken over by Allan and his family and since then the 50's style lino floor covering in the left hand bar, has been removed and a more original floor exposed. He plans more changes to bring the place back more to its former more aesthetic style. The pub has plenty of character and amusing character who will readily engage a new face in lively conversation. Worth more than just one visit.
Chris S — Google review
First time ever in The Crown and loved it. Really cool pub with lovely staff. I tried their Thai food which is about to be a regular thing and it was lush. I pushed myself to try something different and glad I did. 100% will be back
Kayleigh D — Google review
The days of drinking a good pint of Bass in a CAMRA listed heritage interior are gone, but things are looking up at the Crown again after three landlords have made a mess of it. The 2021 remodelling replaced the cosy lounge bar with an expensive "Uruguayan grill" with an emphasis on cocktails, which unsurprisingly failed to work in this off-town centre location with no parking. We're left with a strange hybrid to which three successive managers have struggled to attract the local community back. But new manager Kai is starting to turn things round. He's simplified the menu (including the best mac and cheese I've ever tasted) and there's cask ale again from Blindmans. I hope this lovely historic pub flourishes again and recovers its role as a focal point of the Keyford community.

The Crown re-opened a month ago and I've visited every Friday night. It's a lovely, local pub with a great atmosphere. Last night I had my first bite to eat in there - it was a chicken burger, but not simply a piece of chicken in bread bun. It was simply the most delicious meal in a bun that I've ever eaten in my life....and I'm 72 years of age 👍🙏🎉

We've just discovered the Crown Inn, such a brilliant pub with loads of personality. It's really cosy inside with great and unusual decor. A large courtyard garden with sparky lights everywhere. There is a restaurant on the other side of the building that serves the most delicious Thai food. Rich, who owns the place is the best host, and looked after us. Highly recommend the Crown.

Hosted our daughter's first birthday party in 'The Hub' upstairs at The Crown. It's a fantastic space (and free of charge to hire). The team at The Crown couldn't have been more accommodating for our group! We ended up staying for the evening and enjoyed their delicious food too (the steak sandwiches are superb). Fantastic pub.

Rook Lane House Bed & Breakfast is a charming boutique accommodation located in a Grade II listed stone cottage at the heart of Frome. The property offers three smart and spacious bedrooms, each providing a comfortable base for exploring the town and its surroundings. Guests can enjoy free off-street parking, a valuable perk in this historically designed town. The house boasts an attractive exterior and interior, with well-appointed rooms featuring double aspects to soak up the morning sunshine.
This is a beautiful old listed building with all the character to match. Rooms have a feel of traditional comfort while the bathrooms are contemporary and spacious. Claire was an amazing host, friendly and subservient, offering all the advice and support you need. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, and tasty. Parking was off road and sufficient. Overall, would highly recommend and would certainly stay again in the future.

Such a warm welcome, so kind and friendly. fantastic communication beforehand. Beautiful beautiful room, so clean, warm with a luxury feel and a lovely energy about the place. Great location to walk into town. will absolutely return. Breakfast was delicious! loved everything about the place.

Lovely b&b and highly recommended. The room was big, very comfortable bed, super big bathroom with a double shower. Nice touches with a small cake each with the usual tea and coffee etc. The host Claire is absolutely amazing, very hospitable and can't do enough. Excellent choice for breakfast. Great location with restaurants and pubs within 5mins walking. That's all folks

What a wonderful hidden gem this place is. Claire is an incredibly warm and welcoming host, the house is a beautiful historic home and the rooms are large with beautiful furnishings. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept brilliantly. The brealfgast was of incredibly high quality, all cooked to order and with brillinat service from Claire. We cant wait to come back!

This was the third B&B in the space of a week and was by far the best and demonstrates that it can be done very well if the host puts the effort in. A great location, easy to find and a house steeped in history (a priest hole !). Claire is a lovely host and we would definitely re-visit if we need to stay in Frome again.

Rook Lane house has to be one of the best B&Bs we have stayed at. Conveniently located to explore the delightful town of Frome. The only drawback is that parking at Rook Lane house is limited though adequate, don’t turn up in a stretched limo though!
Roger B — Google review
We were welcomed by the owner Claire who was just delightful. She also showed us where to park on site. The B&B is 400 years old but been decorated to a very high standard. Our room was large and tasteful with refreshments and toiletries provided. The shower was huge. Breakfast was booked for the next day which I must add was delicious. The house itself had lots of character which I loved. It was central to the quirky shops and restaurants. We also walked to a gin tasting experience nearby. Claire made the stay so much more enjoyable though. She really was the perfect host. We would highly recommend.
M M — Google review
We visited in March 2024! Claire (the host) could not have been more welcoming and hospitable! It felt like being welcomed into their house (in all the best ways possible). The history of the building is amazing - that being said, the rooms are very modern, clean and spacious! There is a lovely variety of breakfast items both on the menu and a selection of cereal, toast and fruit! The full English was so nice that I had it twice! Located in Frome, we were blown away by the brilliant town centre and variety of pubs and restaurants! We visited over my birthday (visiting the spa at Centre Parcs) - a family member had called in advance and arranged for a bottle and some sweet treats to be in my room. Claire really did go above and beyond to make our stay a 10 out of 10. Thank you! If we are ever passing through Frome, we will stay again!

KFC, a popular fast food chain recognized for its servings of fried chicken presented in buckets, along with combo options and accompanying dishes. Utilizing the automated service to place an order proved convenient. The aroma upon entry was delightful, as the premises appeared fresh and well-maintained; however, subsequent seating revealed minor cleanliness issues relating to the floors and surroundings. The amiable staff members were quick to address concerns when approached regarding two missing packets of chips, providing them promptly with an apology.
It’s been a year since I came to kfc, the year before the store was disgusting it was so vile and grim was everything. Since my recent visit wow just wow the store was extremely clean toilets smelt fresh and was clean. The food and atmosphere had improved drastically! Well done frome will definitely be coming back !
Byron D — Google review
Atmosphere score low, just due to no one on the establishment. Food order was good and efficient. Unfortunately I needed the loo and the cubicle in the gents toilets is probably on big enough for a child under 10 to fit in comfortably. Far too small for an adult.
Paul H — Google review
I mean… it’s KFC, everyone knows what they’re getting. But prices are higher and the containers come half or less full. Got mashed potatoes, 1/3rd of container full, large gravy came half of the container full, salad half of the container full and looking sad too. The beans come tiny doesn’t matter what size you choose, we got 2 buckets but it came in bags, corn comes wrapped up in a plastic bag. I don’t know. Definitely don’t feel like paying £3 for 1/3rd container of mash. The chicken is good, it’s what you expect. Gravy could have more flavour. Overall it’s mediocre, it’s just is what it is. Has been like 2 years since I had it, so when I had it yesterday and it came like that I was a bit disappointed with everything besides chicken. It’s kfc, should be cheap fast food place. But with prices that went up a lot and the tiny portions they serve now, it’ll be a few years till I have it again, I guess. It’s just okay. Fries are still bad.

'I ordered a large boneless banquet and received a large drink but medium chips and popcorn chicken. This is unacceptable.' This was my original review, however, on reflection, I think that's unfair. I've had past encounters with this KFC and received very good customer service. For this reason I've brought up my rating from 1 star to 4 stars.

The aroma of crispy fried chicken hung in the air around KFC Frome, a beacon for hungry travelers and locals alike. Inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere buzzed with the chatter of families and friends, all eager to indulge in their favorite comfort food. One particular evening, a young traveler named Alice stumbled into KFC Frome, weary from a long journey. The golden-brown chicken, fresh out of the fryer, caught her eye. She ordered a classic bucket, and as she took her first bite, her eyes widened in delight. The perfect blend of herbs and spices, the juicy tenderness of the chicken, and the satisfying crunch of the coating—it was a symphony of flavors that danced on her palate. Alice savored every piece, each bite a reminder of home and simple pleasures. The warmth of the food seeped into her soul, chasing away the fatigue and filling her with contentment. As she finished her meal, she couldn't help but smile, grateful for the delicious experience that had turned her day around. KFC Frome had not just satisfied her hunger, but had also nourished her spirit, leaving her with a happy memory to cherish.

Okay, is Frome KFC the worst KFC in the country? Got a 'party' bucket to please everyone... Most of it was okay... but the picture of a variety of succulent bits of chicken, including wings breast and drumsticks was as below... a pile of, what appeared to be left over, chicken legs... properly disappointed... their suggestion... bring them back... so a 30 minute round trip at lunchtime when we should be eating... Looks like Leo Getz was right... they **** you at the drive through!

Fast food restaurant
Barnacle Bill in Frome is a popular spot for traditional fish and chips, with a reputation for serving some of the best in town. Visitors praise the light and crispy batter on the fish, along with chunky and flavorful cod. The chips are described as being perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. In addition to their classic offerings, Barnacle Bill also provides a variety of vegan and gluten-free options that have received positive feedback.
Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Chips were crisp on the outside and soft and flavoursome on the inside. Fish batter was lovely and crisp and the fish was fresh, flavoursome and tender. Curry sauce was great. They also do very good vegan options so wife was very happy too.
Andy C — Google review
Lovely traditional fish and chips fayre, all well cooked and presented. They also have a wide range of alternative vegan or gluten free dishes. The restaurant doesn't have the huge mark-up in price compared to some other local competitors. Easily the best balance of food quality and value in Frome.
Andrew F — Google review
Easily the best Fish & Chips I've tried in Frome so far. It's up there with some of the best I've tried - and I've lived all over England's coast. Batter was light and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside & tasted great. Cod was chunky and not watery at all. Chips were really nice as well - chunky, slightly crispy and not soggy. Packgaing was nice too. This place may get overlooked as its in the town near the resturants &pubs - but it is well worth making a few minutes extra journey to try it (I was actually going to Codswallop but it was very busy so decided to try this - I am very glad I did).

We always come here to eat, either eat in or takeaway, every time we visit Frome. The food is fantastic, and the gluten free menu is reliable and tasty. The staff are meticulous over the preparation of gluten free options, showing really good awareness of contamination issues and ingredient knowledge. I would heartily recommend this eatery, whether you are coeliac or not.

Great fish and chips last night , mine were gluten free and delicious, so good to find gluten free that tastes like proper batter and crispy , not soggy . Everyone else loved their's as well . Thankyou Barnacle Bill .

Great gluten free fish and chips, reasonable prices and good portions. Staff are very friendly. Atmosphere if you eat in the restaurant area isn't fantastic, but it is first and foremost a chip shop, and it does that very well.

McDonald's is a classic fast-food chain that has stood the test of time, renowned for its iconic burgers and fries. During my recent visit for breakfast, I encountered a minor hiccup with the receipt printing, but the staff promptly resolved it. Within just three minutes of sitting down, my meal arrived fresh and piping hot. The cleanliness of both the dining area and restrooms was impressive—truly a testament to McDonald's commitment to quality.
I stopped here for breakfast, and I had an issue with printing the receipt and I asked for assistance, and it was immediately sorted out for me. My food was delivered within 3 minutes of me sitting down and it was all fresh and hot. The store and the toilets were impeccable clean. This store is definitely a credit to the McDonald's brand.

Absolutely disgusting. We stoped using frome McDonald year ago due to poor service and 2day was reminded why we stopped going there !!! Absolutely useless !!

I was left waiting over an hour for my food, I had visited the drive through and was asked to park up and wait for my food. I waiting 20 minutes knowing how busy it was and then approached a member of staff, I was told there was a backlog so waited again another 10 minutes. I then approached a second member of staff who said they would look into it. After waiting an hour I approached a third member of staff and at this point I was very blunt and demanded my meal and to speak to a manager (it was pouring with rain) after another 10 minutes and out of pure frustration I decided to drive back through the drive through to get my meal directly….only to find that the drive though was closed and a cone placed in the entrance! I left the site as there was nowhere to park and went home - now £12.75 down and NO meal. I am truly appalled at the way the situation was dealt with and have no idea who to contact as no one answers the phone!!!

Today I visited Frome McD and ordered a Big Mac meal. The burger meat was cold so I took it back Friendly manager asked a girl to do a new one however that burger was replaced too quickly to have a freshly cooked one - which I expected. This burger was luke warm so I asked for money back and a friendly member of staff arranged this straight away. Not 9nly is this not acceptable but dangerous. They should be checking the temperature of their food so as not to give us food poisoning. Never go back there.
Hazel B — Google review
Half of my order was forgotten, 6 nuggets and 2 large fries. I was not given a receipt with my food either. I went up to the till with the food I got, untouched to ask for the rest of my food and was not believed and was accused of lying. I went back and forth with one of the workers for quite a while, I even showed my bank statement and they still didn’t want to give me my food. I am so disappointed in the service. I work in hospitality myself and am trained to help customers even if you don’t think it is right. I would not go out of my way and park in Sainsbury’s car park and walk in the rain to collect food I ‘hadn’t payed for’. After going back and forth for around 5 minutes I was given my food and the 2 workers were visibly annoyed and angry. Customer service should be put first, they made the mistake and made it clear that it was my problem, which is not right at all.
Poppy B — Google review
Staff were not attentive enough… no offer of sauces when they brought the food out… we waited at the counter for ages whilst our food was going cold and ended up helping ourselves. Later when they brought out our teas and coffees they didn’t offer any milk or sugar so we had to go back to the counter for them! Food was great and the atmosphere was good, just a shame that the service wasn’t up to scratch.
Joanne — Google review
I don’t often write reviews, but using this place last night was hugely disappointing. The toilets were disgusting, with urine all over the floor. Half the items I requested weren’t available. But what I was most unhappy about was the staff member sitting in her car chain smoking. If this is what you want to do on break, that’s fine, but surely it doesn’t need to be right outside the building for customers to see whilst on your shift clearly going back into the kitchen afterwards.
Ben R — Google review
So i have have had so many bad experiences so far with this mcdonald’s ! But the one that has stuck with me was when i was getting breakfast in the morning and one of the workers dropped a burger bun on the floor picked it back up and carried on making the burger. When i told her manager she just told her not to do it again and binned a few burgers !

Codswallop Fish & Chips is a popular spot known for its jumbo fish and chips, which many consider to be one of the best in years. The cod is well-cooked with crispy, non-greasy batter and accompanied by lovely light and fluffy chips. The staff are polite and accommodating, even when it comes to payment methods. While timing your visit right is important to ensure the quality of the chips, the consistently light and crispy batter on the cod makes it a local favorite.
I love this place. The batter is consistently light and crispy and more importantly there is never skin on the cod. Codswallop also make incredible burgers which you might not think to try at this quality local favourite chip shop. Highly recommended!!

My chicken burger tonight was awful. Normally spot on but hideous. Lettuce onion and mayo I asked for. The bun was hard. It was clearly stale and been put on a griddle or toasted to try and bring it to life.

So I recently had a wedding to attend in Frome, sick of eating the hotel food I googled fish and chips and hey you guys popped up I was so happy and could see your opening times and closing time, I get to your shop at 8.43 and could see the closed sign on the door, you guys had closed up early and were cleaning the shop. What a disappointment this was, if you closing time says 9pm you close at 9pm not 8.30 or 8.40 or 8.45 you close at 9pm!

I would not eat there if you paid me !! Walk in a big mouth welcome you, not listening to what you are telling him, not helpful!! Order meal...$40.00...one filet fish, hardly no fries.. .at lease offer coleslaw, hush puppies, there is no ketchup for fries. Fish was good but only 1 PIECE, very little fries alittle burn. I ask if any shrimp and I was told No Shrimp.....I guess British doesn't serve shrimp. Hardly no cold can selection. Regardless too much money for nothing remove the cashier big mouth and pay attention to the customer and for the money offer a better combination of food. Go to Captain D for better selection...money's worth.

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit. As a disabled individual, I was shocked to find that there were no accessible seating options available. To make matters worse, the establishment only accepts cash, which wasn't clearly indicated outside. Multiple customers were actually turned away while I was there so I can imagine this must happen often. This lack of transparency caused unnecessary inconvenience. The food preparation was also subpar. The staff took my chips behind the back to add cheese, rather than doing it in front of me as expected which I thought was strange. However, the most concerning issue was the poor service. I waited for an extended period, only to be ignored while staff attended to other customers who arrived after me. It was clear that the staff were not eager to provide good customer service or even wanting to work there. They also close well before their listed hours. I don’t think I was the only unhappy customer there as other people were actually shaking their heads. The overall atmosphere was also uninviting. The staff appeared disinterested and miserable, and their attire was unclean and unkempt. I have actually heard bad reviews before but decided to give it a go anyway. Unfortunately, the combination of these issues left me feeling frustrated, disappointed, and disrespected as a customer. I would not recommend this establishment.

Just popped into Codswallop fish and chip shop in Frome as no other fish and chip shop open in Frome on a Monday night. Once renowned for a massive portion of chips! Well not any more. Got home and ready to unwrap my battered sausage and chips with sheer excitement, which soon disappeared and ended with pure disappointment. Tiny portion of chips and I think my battered sausage had shrunk in the wash! More like a battered chipatata! No service with a smile in there either. Won’t be going back.

This is a pretty decent chippie if you're in the area and it does have the advantage of a captive audience! Our chips were hot and nicely cooked so none were wasted. Beware though that this is a cash only establishment which is surprising but at least there's an ATM next door.

All round 5 stars from me, I had the Jumbo and chips and one of the best fish suppers I've had in years. Well cooked and fresh piece of cod, crispy batter not greasy (considering cooked in a fryer) and lovely chips, light and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Great staff, very polite (even when I didn't read a sign saying cash only 🤦) even carried on with my order while I went a draw out money (most places would wait for you to come back with cash) I would definitely make the trip to get these. Best I've found around and I'm mainly in Bath.

Appalling service. ordered food at 15:40 and food was meant to reach us at 16:10 waited until 16:30 and we had to then call and ask where it was, was told “it’s not far away” and “will be a few minutes” it came around ** after we ordered it. it arrived around 16:45. Once opening the package of food, two of the four cookies we ordered were missing, two of the four sandwiches were missing the majority of the toppings. I called and politely asked why it was missing toppings and was told that some customers have allergies so you need to call them and add on extra toppings ?? the sandwich we ordered was a B.M.T and it literally just had salami in it and nothing else. The chicken sub was meant to have loads of salad and guacamole which also came with just plain chicken. The lady on the phone was so unnecessarily rude considering it was a mistake made on their end and i had been very polite when enquiring about delivery times and parts of the missing order. She then said the remainder of the food we were missing would be delivered to the house, we waited another HOUR and then called to ask where it was. She told us nothing was coming. Are you serious ? we were told the rest of our order would be delivered to us and then told nothing was ever being redelivered. disgusting customer service. I’ll be waiting for my refund and won’t ever be ordering from subway again.

Made partner literally sick! Called subway and the lady just argued and had a go. Terrible customer service. No apology! Would not recommend! Claiming refund back from uber eats. Waste of £10!

Food is great but the woman staff is horrific. They tried to give me an allergic reaction by putting olives in my food even tho I SPECIFIED no olives. They spoke in their own language and giggled at customers and refused my free side from my points, made funny faces at customers too. DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR GET THEM FIRED!!!!

Just had a lovely Beef Taco jacket potato. Good value and perfectly cooked. Also really great service with a smile from lady behind the counter.

Disgusting staff ordered food, sandwich's came without any sauce or salad just a few slices of meat and missed out multiple items from our order. Staff were very rude over the phone and the female staff member lied to us about a refund and re delivery. She now hangs up the phone when we asked for a refund or eta for our food. Get them fired!
