Restaurant
Heaneys Restaurant is a trendy establishment offering refined dishes and evening tasting menus, along with an assortment of wines and cocktails. Situated in the former location of Arbennig, this Kickstarter-funded diner is the brainchild of Great British Menu finalist Tommy Heaney.
Delicious. A fine dining restaurant with great service. Did the tasting menu with wine pairing. pretty generous with the wine too. Food was delicious. bartender made a cocktail tailored to my taste.

My girl and I had a tremendous birthday lunch comprising the Short Taster 7/8 course menu - we couldn't do the wine pairing as we were driving (cue violins). Each course was a delight - small plates as per a taster menu, each was packed full of flavour, impeccably cooked and an exciting experience. It's difficult to pick favourites so I won't - it was all fantastic. I thought the lamb dish needed more beetroot. The service was faultless, as is the decor. I'd prefer jazz on the playlist, but that's just a personal preference. Worth every penny.

We enjoyed an amazing 10-course tasting menu at this restaurant last Saturday afternoon. I can’t believe we had not been to this restaurant before this. Impeccable service and exquisite food! I was a marmite hater but the marmite butter was excellent. I highly recommend this place.
Nuhu G — Google review
We had a really excellent meal at Heaney's ahead of the rugby. We had the shorter tasting menu and each element was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals we've had in a while, and that's from two London foodies.
SueH — Google review
“I had an absolutely amazing experience at Heaney’s. The tasting menu blew my mind, and the staff and service were just outstanding. Huge thanks and appreciation for everything they do!” Thank you for a great night x
Sarah B — Google review
This was an amazing find and I highly recommend to others! The food, service and atmosphere were all worthy of 1 Michelin star. Very surprised they hadn’t already got one, but hopefully it’s their time soon. The tasting menu and wine pairing was carefully considered, and well matched. The attention to detail throughout was well designed. Thank you for an amazing experience!
K D — Google review
Always wanted to go to Heaneys, and the £35 5 course set lunch menu deal gave us the opportunity (deal was even available on a Saturday). Fair to say it did not disappoint. Absolutely sublime from start to finish and an incredible culinary masterclass. Potato terrine and ox cheek were particular highlights but all of it was 10/10. If you get the chance to go, don’t think twice - it takes the dining experience to another level
Joseff B — Google review
Came here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Excellent restaurant with Michelin star quality food and service. We had the long tasting menu and each course was delicious. My wife is lactose intolerant and they accommodated to her needs with no issues. It is pricey but that is to be expected for the quality of food. Courses were weighted towards fish so non fish lovers would struggle with the tasting menu. But having said that I'm not a huge fan of fish but I enjoyed every course. Would definitely return again for a special occasion. I would expect this restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the near future.

Asador 44 Spanish Grill & Wine House is a cozy and modern restaurant located in the heart of Cardiff, offering a contemporary take on traditional Spanish cuisine. Inspired by the Basque Country's culinary traditions, the restaurant specializes in grilling high-quality, locally sourced produce and expertly aged meats over open flames. The warm and inviting interior features rustic wooden tones and an open kitchen where diners can watch the chefs at work.
Could not recommend this place enough. We went for my brother’s graduation, and had the most fantastic meal. The staff were brilliant, the service was flawless - they were helpful and gave great suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried a load of the ‘snacks’ - everything was great, and really recommend the bread with sobresada butter. Then had the lamb and suckling pig sharing platters which were to die for. The meat was tasty, and pull-apart. We also had a number of sides which were fantastic - the artichokes, leek gratin, etc. Brilliant atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone in Cardiff!
Mia G — Google review
Excellent restaurant with some amazing food. Unfortunately the Spanish sirloin was not the best, very chewy & fatty. Everything else was great though & staff were very friendly
James W — Google review
A solid restaurant. The 600g sirloin was a little tough for being served medium rare. The lamb shoulder was absolutely delicious! Our drinks order was lost so waited around half an hour for drinks. The front of house team were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed.
Jas S — Google review
Great service only surpassed by the quality of the food. Had the sharing lamb as a main , with prawn croquettes and sourdough to start. The tables are spaced out, the service not intrusive and the general atmosphere was good. Look forward to eating there again.
Adam E — Google review
Living in Spain, it is hard to try Spanish restaurants abroad but asador44 is a great exception. Food has quality and is tasty, the service is good and the wine list acceptable offering Spanish references only including pleasant surprises as Zarate, José Gil, Lopez de Heredia, Envínate or Luis Pérez wines. To my mind, one of the best restaurants in Cardiff
Acme — Google review
We recently visited Asador44 for our Wedding Anniversary. We have dined at Asador a number of times and it never disappoints. The atmosphere and décor is warm and welcoming, as are the staff. James who served us was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. On previous occasions we have had the stunning steak dishes, supplied by a favourite beef supplier we use and are perfectly cooked on an open asador flame grill. On this occasion, we opted for different dishes. My wife had a favourite of ours Pulpo a la Gallega whilst I had the Confit duck leg with aged rice. Both dishes were a pleasure on the eye and tasted delicious, accompanied by a bottle of the house white wine, which was enjoyable. We finished off with the Chocolate tart and ice cream, which was incredibly rich and indulgent. As ever, dining at Asador44 is always a pleasure and we cannot wait to dine there again.
Lee C — Google review
Went here for a birthday dinner and had the last spot for reservation. Finding parking was a nightmare (not the restaurant's fault, obviously) but the staff made every effort to accommodate us despite arriving slightly late. The food was served promptly, was piping hot and delicious, full of flavour! Ended the evening with a nice little surprise- 44% off the bill at the roll of a dice! (They had a promotion going in January) 10/10 would recommend!
Mehar S — Google review
Went for a night out with a few friends who had been before to Asador. The food variety, restaurant layout and the look a feel were all very good. The service was excellent and the food was good but be prepared to pay for it, as it’s not a cheap night out and I am not absolutely convinced the food is worth the price. Would I go again, probably yes but it would be only to go with friends at their request, but I wouldn’t say no. The bill was £400 between 4 of us with 1 bottle of wine in that.

Crumbs Kitchen is a cozy eatery located in a Victorian arcade in Cardiff, offering a variety of health-conscious, meat-free dishes from breakfast to teatime. Known for their vegetarian salad bowls and homely atmosphere, this family restaurant provides a welcoming environment for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone seeking fresh and healthy meals.
This cute little place is found in the Morgan arcade in Cardiff. It’s vegetarian/vegan so perfect for my diet. However I’d say that some of the dishes are a bit bland but I don’t see this as a bad thing. I’m only saying because some people might not be used to such type of food. Their soups are the best if I must say. The perfect thing to have on a cold day. Overall, service is fast and good and staff is very kind and welcoming. There’s plenty of seats and plugs where to charge your phone.

Average verging on bad. Used to come here ~8 years ago and the salads were so good they would make me actively choose salad over other food, it has evidently gone downhill ainde then. Paid £9.50 for a tuna melt panini and the driest side salad of all time. If you want to support local business, Cardiff Market is close door and Maple & Bean are literally next door. Both offer significantly higher quality for a similar price. To quote my wife "The best part of that meal was the coke"
Nick E — Google review
I have been eating at Crumbs Kitchen since it opened in the 70s. The prices , I think, have recently sky rocketed! I ate a vegetable curry with brown rice. The vegetables were cut far too small and it wasn’t that tasty. I did tell one of the servers who said it was a different chef and there was no apology or saying that she would take my comments back to the chef. I paid over £9 and it really wasn’t a fair price for what I was served. I wish I had taken a photo. Come on Crumbs Kitchen / you can do better! There’s a lot of competition out there!

Very nice restaurant tucked away in the arcades. Great vegetarian and vegan food. The quiches are excellent!

Lovely Mediterranean veg pie, vegan sausage roll, and leek & potato soup as well as side salads!
N T — Google review
We probably couldn't have found a worse place. To begin with, the glasses on our tray were the same ones used by my previous customers (who probably had very greasy hands). We pointed out to the waitress that the glasses were dirty, but she didn't seem to mind. We asked for clean glasses. We sat down at a dirty table (all the tables were dirty), and no one came to clear them away or clean them. We did our best with a tissue to clean our table. Then we had to wait a long, long time for four flavorless sandwiches, with no sauce, and stale bread that was falling apart... And the worst part of all was that we never got a carafe of water. And it was really expensive. The worst place to go
Sophie D — Google review
Great variety of choice for veggie/vegan breakfast. (No meat served here). The salad bowls are healthy, generous and filling. Also serve hot breakfast with eggs. The fresh juice is served in a small jar, very tasty. Plenty of staff on duty (more than the massive Cosy Club round the corner!) - clearly well run 😊
Luke M — Google review
We were recommended this charming cafe and I will be doing the same. I had a delicious jacket potato with tuna and salad, followed by a white chocolate and raspberry cake plus a pot of tea. Friendly service and a delightful atmosphere make this a definite respite from shopping!

Welsh restaurant
Restaurant
Thomas by Tom Simmons is a high-end brasserie in Pontcanna, Cardiff, offering French-inspired dishes made with Welsh ingredients. Since its opening in February 2020, it has gained popularity among celebrities and national restaurant critics. The restaurant's elegant ambiance complements the exquisite menu curated by Pembrokeshire-born chef Tom Simmons. Dishes like Welsh lamb cannon with crispy lamb belly and black garlic showcase the fusion of French technique and Welsh produce.
We had vouchers for here, which expired in December 2024. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemo, so I emailed to see if we could extend the voucher, which the restaurant said was no problem. I then needed radio added on so had to extend the vouchers another two times, which they were more than happy to accommodate. Once we were there (finally!) the experience was fantastic, everything from the staff, the atmosphere, the food was phenomenal. Due to the radio my mouth is quite sensitive, the staff were more than happy to provide me with some samples of wine and whiskey to see which worked best for me. Our first meal out since our boy was born and since I finished treatment. It was a great experience.
Tom B — Google review
Visited here on a Saturday night, the place seems very hectic for what’s meant to be fine dining. We went for the £85 tasting menu, a few glasses of wine each etc and the food just felt flat. The food lacked seasoning, although the presentation was beautiful, I had to ask for Salt which you don’t expect especially for that price point. I’d been to Hiraeth a few days before and it just didn’t match up to it on service, atmosphere or food quality. I think they’re out pricing themselves for the quality & atmosphere vs other comparable tasting menu places in the area.
Victoria P — Google review
Menu’s on the pricey side, portions are small (as you’d expect for a fine dining restaurant) but can’t complain about the quality of food - we ordered all the mains except the chateaubriand and a few starters and desserts, all were great and sophisticated but I liked the desserts best - try the peanut butter parfait and yuzu cake! Overall for the price we paid everything is up to standard but not mind-blowing good. Would love to visit again for their lunch menu.
Kristy L — Google review
I choose this restaurant for my daughter last year studying in Cardiff, the tasting menu and the scallop not only are delicious but also the presentation are so beautiful. All the staff are helpful friendly knowledgeable snd attentive, the whole meal we feel comfortable snd very enjoyable. Next year will come again when she graduation ceremony.
Sylvester C — Google review
From the second we arrived we were made to feel welcome and cared for. This was a celebration meal for a promotion and the card on the table was a lovely gesture, which I will treasure. I explained at the start of the meal that I wanted to have the wine tasting experience aswell, however due to medical reasons I am unable to drink that much alcohol. We were offered the chance to have 1 glass of each shared between the 2 of us. Each The food was out of this world, I felt like I should try everything, including the marmite butter, I am not sure what sort of wizardry they had done but I actually loved it! The whole experience was amazing unique experience, well worth spending more than you would normally.......

Wonderful 70th birthday celebration. Treated royally by professional approachable attentive but not overbearing staff who provided expert explanation of all courses at the appropriate time. The flavoursome food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection everything was a highlight, high level cookery, the Chefs at this establishment are top notch. My birthday experience was both recognised by our servers and enhanced sincerely with a superb miniature chocolate & passion fruit cake which I very much appreciated.
Gary C — Google review
We visited Thomas yesterday for my birthday and were so impressed. The staff were friendly and welcoming but very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. We ate from the a la carte menu and every dish was perfect, so tasty and a very high standard. Lovely touch to serve me a complimentary dessert with candle and a birthday card hand signed by all staff. We finished in the bar area where we had fun chatting with the bar staff and the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend a visit and we will be returning.

Indian restaurant
Chai Street Indian Restaurant is a casual, quick-service spot offering traditional Indian street food and convenient grab-and-go lunch boxes. Located on Cardiff's High Street with another branch on Cowbridge Road, it's part of the same team behind Mint and Mustard restaurant. The menu features a wide range of authentic and delicious street snacks and main courses at affordable prices. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating for those who prefer to dine al fresco.
We stumbled on Chai St and thought why not! We had a very friendly welcome and the menu was interesting alongside some daily specials. Service was excellent - just enough ‘is everything ok’ but not too much. Loved the decor which included hand made upside down umbrellas and a hand painted mural. It’s a great stop if you’re in Cardiff.
Candy C — Google review
Chai Street - and specifically their chaat bombs - came recommended to us and did not disappoint. Service was the perfect balance of attentive and giving you space to ponder and eat slowly. The food was delicious. We were just after something light so ordered a couple of the small plates to share along with a portion of popadoms. We also had the delicious mango lassi which was unusually but deliciously topped with fennel seeds. There are lots of vegetarian options and a comprehensive allergen menu accessed by a QR code from the physical menu. There is a breakfast/brunch menu which includes dosa, serves until 1pm. All freshly prepared, full of flavour and good value.

We were in Cardiff for a short 2-day break, and after visiting Cardiff Castle we decided to explore the area for dinner. That’s when we came across **Chai Street**, an Indian street-food style restaurant, and decided to give it a try. The service was on the slower side, but once the food arrived it was clear that the wait was worth it. The chef deserves credit—the dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and really hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here. If we visit Cardiff again, we’d definitely come back to Chai Street for another dinner.

Me and my cousin came in today, I've been wanting to try it for about 2 years and I was not disappointed! The decor was stunning, and loved that music from Rocky aur Rani was playing as we sat down. The two guys who served us were so lovely and friendly and brought water to the table at the end of the meal for us which I thought was lovely. The food...the food!!! I've wanted to try both pani puri and thali for ages and got to do both today, pani puri is amazing! What an explosion of taste and spice, so zingy and crunchy, gorgeous! And the thali was amazing, both lamb and chicken curries were immense, hands down the softest, richest lamb I've ever had, it tasted so good and just fell apart. The naan was lush and the raita was so tasty, loved the spiced potatoes too. So much food and it was gorgeous! 10/10 all around, defintiely recommend if you're in Cardiff, best Indian meal I've ever had 👏👌👏 🙏❤️🙏

Went there yesterday only to eat Vadapau but found out they had changed the menu and it was not there anymore. Asked the staff about it and they were so accomodating and told us they could get us Vadapau. Initially ordered two portions but since it was absolutely delicious, we went for a third portion as well!! 😂 Really hoping they bring it back to the menu. Pani puri was yum too! The staff there was extremely friendly and welcoming and kept on checking up on us every now and then :)

Tried Delhi Tikka Masala Chicken, Garlic Naan, Peshawri Naan, Raita & coke. Food was full of flavor and spot on. Service was really fast and the staff were nice. Place looks good and is kept clean. Toilets were tidy too. Chill, welcoming vibe. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend!

Vegetarian Food Studio is a simple yet charming restaurant adorned with wall murals and colorful embroidered tablecloths. For nearly two decades, this establishment has been serving up flavorful vegetarian and vegan dishes from the Gujarat and southern regions of India. The chef-owner, Neil Patel, has received numerous accolades for his culinary expertise, including the title of Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year at the Welsh Restaurant Awards 2022.
We come here a lot, one of our favourite restaurants in Cardiff. Really like the thali but if there are four or more of you, you can do a group deal where the chef picks what you eat. We have done that with friends and they loved it. Great dosas!

Ran by a lovely family and always has great staff The best of the best for stunning curries. They have a lot of excellent choices for people with different allergies/preferences. There's no missing out or having to settle for just a salad or jacket potato here. Fantastic authentic Indian food. We knew we were going to be in with a treat when we received the obligatory poppadoms and chutneys which were home made and very different to the normal fair you get in an Indian restaurant. The menu is extensive (all vegetarian or vegan) and all absolutely delicious. We left loads as the portion sizes were excellent. The prices are superb (check one of the photos of a menu). The whole meal for two, including a large Kingfisher came to £46. Incredible value.

I was in Cardiff to meet with a dear friend and his wife who were visiting Cardiff from India. Whose diet was vegertrian. I chose this restaurant using the words 'vegetarian restaurant near me'. I was so pleased that I this place. My friends were delighted with the food that was cooked the Maharashtraian way. I chose poori (a fried flatbread), which made in Maharashtraian way (with methi leaves & jeera) served with channa (chickpeas). I would recommend this ... It transported me to my lunchbox during my childhood in India. The service was good. The atmosphere was like a restaurant in India.

Best food place in Cardiff, possibly all of Wales, and potentially better than anywhere in England. I recommend it to all my friends - if they're ever in Cardiff they need to go to the Vegetarian Food Studio. I am an unpaid shill for this place, except they pay me in food when I pay them for food. Filling portions that are full of flavour. Loads of choices. My recommendation is you should have the Bhel Puri, maybe to share as a starter.
Efa R — Google review
On a recent business trip, I really fancied a Gujarati meal. A Google search brought this place up and the reviews looked great....so I thought I would give it a try. (FYI I am Gujarati). The server was efficient and friendly, the resturant has a sort of charm about it. Sadly the food was a let down. I ordered a plain dosa and a mixed platter of snacks, with salted lasi. The lasi was nice (it's really hard to get that wrong!). The plain dosa was not crispy at all. In fact you would expect a dosa to hold up its rolled up shape, not the one that I got.....it was flat, not crispy, and the flavour was only just passable. The plate of mixed small bites was awful....I left most of it. I think the waiter must have thought I was full and offered to pack it for me to take away - I said no thanks. I was genuinely so disappointed, I was looking forward to some homely food, I can't see myself coming back here. I couldn't work out why the reviews were so high, I think all I can put it down to is the the large majority of reviews are from non-gujarati customers, the lack of other options in Cardiff for similar food...... come on Cardiff, you can and should do better. And as for the owners of the resturant, I know you cook better than what you serve at home, do the same in your restaurant so others can appreciate the wonders of Gujarati food like we do at home. I had to grab a subway on my way back to my hotel!

Family restaurant
Shaam Nights restaurant offers a Middle Eastern dining experience with its ornate Syrian decor, including stained glass, bronze lanterns, and intricate tiled flooring. The menu features authentic halal cuisine influenced by Arabic, Persian, and Ottoman flavors. The restaurant is known for its charcoal-grilled kebabs and a family-friendly atmosphere. Guests praise the delicious food, friendly staff, and lovely ambiance.
I visited Shaam Nights during Ramadan and, despite being late for my reservation due to traffic, the staff were completely understanding and kind about it. As it was time to break my fast while I was ordering, the food arrived in less than 10 minutes—perfect timing! The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions. I also really appreciated the spacious prayer area, and the entire place was spotless. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made the experience even more special. May Allah bless this business—they truly deserve it!

Absolutely amazing food and service. We got the platter for two with rice each which was plenty of food for both of us and so tasty! We had amazing service too, and were given complimentary sauce, mini desserts and mint tea! Could not fault the experience at all, definitely a great place to visit! And amazing value for money too, a must-try for anyone in Cardiff!

Absolutely lovely restaurant, service and food. Firstly, the restaurant was impeccably clean and hygiene standards extremely high. The restaurants owner and head chef greeted us and took our orders. He was a lovely and polite man, and was extremely accommodating of our needs. The food came in good time, and tasted beautiful. They except cards and or cash, they're are also toilets on site too. Parking is difficult due to being situated on a busy main road. Therefore, it's best to arrive early and find a side road to park on. You can make a reservation online very easily. This restaurant exceeded my expectations and it will for you too. It's fantastic and the staff make sure you are looked after. I am so pleased I found this place, as I will be coming back. Thank you for a lovely time.

Had the pleasure of dining here during our visit to Cardiff. Received a warm welcome when we arrived and the service was second to none. The food was amazing and delicious (ended up ordering more than initially planned 😋). Would come here again next time we pass by.

Best on City Road (with hot competition!). Friendly service, amazing food, great atmosphere. Platter for 2 outstanding.

It was a nice and clean venue. The service was fairly fast. Portions are big. I just couldn’t get the taste I was expecting. Lamb and chicken dishes did nit taste too different than each other because they were both dominated by the spice in the mince. I appreciate the nature of Syrian cuisine but as a person who’s familiar with another cuisine, it didn’t feel the same with the taste. Patatas Barras was very good. Just like patatas bravas but Syrian version, a bit more spicy 🙂 Platters for 2 was quite enough for 2 people. Surrounding of the venue wasn’t very easy to find a space for parking. We found a place on the street behind the venue but honestly it didn’t look very safe there.

We booked a table for two but later realized it wasn’t necessary unless you're a bigger group—though some tables were reserved, so it was still a good idea. We ordered the mango lassi (refreshing and not too sweet), the Shaam Night's Mezza Mix for starters (great variety and plenty to share), lamb biryani (Syrian-style, tasty but quite different from the usual biryani—more herby, less spicy), and the mixed grill, which came with rice and was very generous in portion. In fact, we had more than enough food for two! The whole meal came to around £50, which felt like good value. The staff were friendly but not very interactive, just professional and efficient. The decor is beautiful—stylish and modern, with a nice ambiance. Overall, a pleasant experience. Would come back, maybe with a group to try more dishes!

Italian restaurant
Giovanni's in Park Place is a popular Italian restaurant chain known for its relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. With three locations in Cardiff, including one opposite the Wales Millennium Centre, this eatery has been serving authentic Italian cuisine since 1983. The menu features a variety of dishes such as custom pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads, fish plates, and an array of delectable desserts like tiramisu and cannoli.
We went here as we was totally depressed walking towards The New Theatre with the many chain restaurant options. No thanks. We food this little gem right at the end just across the road from the theatre. Very warm welcome sat down straight away to a table for two. Busy, lively and fun. Service was excellent, fast and attentive. Food was quick to come out but not rushed. Cracking food all round. I personally felt the starters was a bit pricey but was delicious so... Would definitely go again. Clean and tidy through out quick to take plates or empty bottles etc. Excellent meal all round.

Tables were very cramped, waiters knocking the back of my chair. Wasn’t overly busy so unsure why we were squeezed right next to the entrance of the bar. Asked if we wanted water for the table.. which we later realised cost £4.50 for a bottle! Food came out very quickly, everything seemed rushed. As soon as my knife and fork hit the plate a waiter took my plate away and the mains arrived. 5 different waiters hovered around asking several times if everything was ok, felt awkward. Overpriced, average food, strange atmosphere, sadly I won’t be returning

My mother and I ate here in April and it was the best food and service we had on our three week trip to Britain. I look forward to eating there again someday.
RC C — Google review
Very tasteless, non-authentic, and overpriced food. We had to call waiters over to order, to have starters removed, and we ended up walking to the till to pay where they still reminded us that “service charge is not included..” Carbonara was particularly poor, very oily (why?) and undercooked pancetta.

Fantastic restaurant, the food was fantastic. For a starter I had a Calamari fritti and my partner had a salmon cheesecake which was fantastic! Salmon, cream cheese on a cheesecake base. For a main I had vodka al salmone and my partner had a ragu. Everything was fantastic fast service, lovely ambience and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit if you want an Italian date night and good wine!

I had the Gamberoni and salmon spaghetti special with a refreshing virgin mojito and my girlfriend had a pepperoni and meatball pizza, and the food was absolutely delicious. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the chef personally came out to thank us for dining with them too. I would highly recommend Giovanni's to everyone when in Cardiff, and we are definitely coming back.
Aiswarik S — Google review
Food is decent Italian quality but not the best I've had in Cardiff. We had a larger reservation but even though we were the only people in the restaurant we had to wait a long time for drinks to come. And then a long time for food to come out. Food was good, but the waiting was a bit much for us (we were hungry). Generous portion sizes.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Giovanni’s used to be one of Cardiff’s best restaurants, but it’s fallen off a cliff. We went after the Cardiff Half Marathon expecting the same great food and service we’d had before. Big mistake. The place was almost empty at peak lunchtime, which should’ve told us everything. We ordered two pizzas and a chicken dish and waited 40 minutes, having to ask twice where our food was. The pizzas were undercooked, stodgy, bland and nowhere near worth £20 each - think Tesco’s regular but with a little more cheese. We left half of them. The chicken dish was even worse - lukewarm, cheap-looking and straight-up inedible. Veg was dry, because it had been reheated, and the chicken bland and tasteless, when challenged, they agreed not to charge us for it. Just plain, out and out, sub-standard food and service. The waiting staff were polite, but the manager’s over-the-top had-wringing apologetic gravelling made things even worse. But stilled charged full price for the pizzas! This place has gone from being Cardiff’s best and favourite to an overpriced Ask Italian. Won’t be back; what would I advise others, what do you think?

Brewhouse & Kitchen in Cardiff is not your typical British pub. It's a favorite among craft beer enthusiasts, offering a wide selection of beers and real ales from the UK and around the world. The venue boasts on-site brewing, providing a unique experience for visitors. Whether you're looking for great food or an inviting atmosphere, this rustic hotspot has it all. Additionally, it caters to large group bookings and offers an array of vegan options.
Had a great time here. My wife had bought us a beer tasting masterclass. OMG, brilliant. Although there should have been us plus 4 others we were told, the 4 didn't turn up, they missed an amazing 2 hours. Our host was a young guy called Seb, he was absolutely great. Not know what to expect, he went through the plan and explained the beers, what they make on site, what they bring in, how the beers are made, history and you are brought 8 thirds to try in order. Time to discuss each one, the colour, the taste, the origin. He was very knowledgeable and really made a great experience, would recommend this masterclass.

First of all came in and it was very friendly service. Ordered boneless chicken strips and when it’s came out it was the bone chicken wings. I went up to the waiter to say about this and he sighted not very nice about it even though it was their mistake. When the boneless chicken strips finally arrived they were dripping with water and falling apart. Overall terrible food and service won’t come again.

We hired a space here for my 30th birthday and it was perfect! We had exclusive use of the canope area and were able to decorate the space and play our own playlist, which made the event feel really personal and fun. The staff were absolutely lovely and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was great, and the beer/cocktails kept everyone happy. Highly recommend this venue for anyone thinking of hiring a space for a party or event (plus the doggos can join in). A special mention to Zechariah who helped the vision materialise by meeting with me beforehand and corresponding to my 100 emails and questions. Super star!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Came here for lunch this afternoon with my wife, dog and baby daughter. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff were lovely, offering a high chair for the little one and even some dog biscuits for our lab! The staff were also very knowledgeable about their drinks and even gave my wife a free sample to try! (Which was delicious). The food was affordable and great portion sizes. The fish finger sandwich particularly went down an absolute treat! Thanks guys!

Very disappointing experience at the Brewhouse for Father's day. We were sat down at our table and we ordered our drinks which were supposed to include a free pint of beer and single shot of whisky. The waiter told us that is was only half a pint and walked off. We had to go to the counter and show the actual advert, they reluctantly agreed. Our drinks arrived and no whisky. We called them back over and eventually the whisky arrived. The whole situation appeared intentional to not give the free drinks. The food arrived relatively quickly and we were again disappointed (photo added), there was a small portion of vegetables and even less gravy. They refused to add more vegetables and reluctantly brought over a small additional portion of gravy. Before we could ask for any sauces, they walked off again. I then had to go and ask for them. I wouldn't have minded if it had been very busy, it wasn't at all. We've been here for the last 4 father's days, unfortunately it will be our last.

I've been coming here for decades, when it was the Mochyn Du - only one of two pubs that served Leffé on draught.. There's always a friendly crowd here in large and spacious in and outdoor areas. My visit on 20/6/25 was distasteful as the queue was long, but people were getting served at a good pace, however; when I got served at 5.55, the pleasant young lady said the 6pm happy hour had finished!? There were other customers frustrated by this too. We left early due to this disappointment.

I visited the Brewery and Kitchen in Sophia Gardens with a friend last month, on a busy Saturday, and had a wonderful, delicious meal at a very good price. Great atmosphere. The staff, led by Amy, were helpful and delightful. I had a beef burger laced with a delicious 'jam', one which Amy's grandmother makes at home. And the sweets were fabulous. I would thoroughly recommend a visit... and ask Amy about the jam!

Bar 44 Cardiff is a stylish bar-restaurant located near the Millennium Stadium, offering a refined selection of Spanish tapas. The venue features decorative Spanish elements and vintage Tio Pepe adverts, creating an elegant atmosphere. The menu includes daily-changing one-pots and traditional dishes like Galician fish stew and slow-cooked meat-and-chickpea concoction cocido.
We had an excellent meal here and it couldn’t be improved. Each dish was amazing and not too pricey, with quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and happy to answer any questions. The atmosphere was warm and cosy - couldn’t recommend enough.

The most perfect way to spend an early evening or lunch. The 3 tapas and a drink for £22 offer is outstanding value for the quality of food you get. I’ve been all over Spain and the U.K. and other than in very few Spanish places, it has to be the best tortilla I’ve had. Runny and gooey like it’s meant to be, not stone cold and dry like a lot of U.K. places. The chicken was so soft and tender. Machego with honey.. need I say more. My only criticism is they might want to invest in some kind of sound proofing as it does get very noisy. Otherwise definitely coming back!

Loved the authentic Spanish tapas here. Each dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors reminded me of being in Spain. The staff were knowledgeable about the wines — a fantastic dining experience overall.

A fantastic tapas bar/restaurant! We opted for the early evening menu which offers a drink and 3 tapas for £24 which we found to be excellent value. We enjoyed every dish and also the red berry sangria very much. Portion sizes were generous for tapas at the price point. We could easily have ordered more but decided to go for dessert, both of which were again, excellent. Very tasty food. If we return to Cardiff we will definitely try the sherry flight tastings which also looked good value! In short - lovely surroundings, friendly staff, excellent food and a great choice of dishes. Highly recommend.

We arrived without and booking and were welcomed by Gemma, who was really accommodating and offered us a big table even though it was a Saturday evening. We ended up taking one for two as it was quieter, but the flexiblity already made a really good impression. Gemma knew the menu inside out and made exellent recommendation on both food and drink. This was the type of service you normally only get in the US. Every dish was amazing (shrimps, fish, anchovy cesar salad, artichoke, blue cheese and Basque Cheese cake) and the house sherry and brandy excellent. This is the best dinner I have had this year. I would actually come to Cardiff to eat here agin, The food and drink is better than Spain!

Located near the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, The Grazing Shed is a popular spot known for its delicious burgers made from local ingredients. This hip and independent eatery offers a variety of options including beef, chicken, and vegan burgers. In fact, it's one of the best places for both vegans and meat-eaters with five different vegan burger choices available. The menu also features unique flavor combinations such as Gorgonzola and smoky bacon or avocado mash and cider apple chutney.
Well, the Grazing Shed has now moved, and it's opposite Cardiff Castle. Revised and reduced menu, but still fabulous. Better even than before. My John Wayne smashed burger and skin on fries were fantastic. They've added chicken to the menu, and I tried some Smokey BBQ. Delicious fried chicken thighs (so much tastier than breast) with delicious BBQ sauce and melted cheese. Highly recommended, alongside a pint or two from the Mad Dog Brewery Co.

Grazing Shed is the perfect spot if you're craving a great burger in Cardiff. The burgers are high-quality and served quickly, with a variety of options to choose from. Just a heads-up: adding chips can be filling. The soda options are unique – not the traditional flavours you might expect, but enjoyable all the same. We tried the John Wayne, the lamb burger (incredibly tasty and tender), and a smashed burger, and shared an unlimited soda. We also ordered chicken wings, which were flavourful, though maybe just slightly overcooked – but not enough to dock a star. The main reason this isn't a five-star review is the price; we spent about £55 for three people. While the quality is worth it, it would be great to see the prices come down a little so we could visit more often. Seating is all on benches, which can be a bit uncomfortable if you need back support – something with better seating would be a welcome improvement. Ordering is straightforward with an iPad system they likely introduced during COVID to streamline the process. However, you’ll still need to check a paper menu to see details on ingredients and sauces, as the iPad interface doesn’t display all of that. It’s a nice feature but could be made more user-friendly. Overall, if you're in Cardiff and looking for a quick, filling burger, Grazing Shed is a solid choice. Just be prepared to spend a bit more than you would at a pub or fast-food spot.

Not bad not great. It seems to have loads of potential but I just wasn't overly fond of the beers I had. We ate there later on as everywhere was rammed and the food was OK. The pizza dough tasted quite dry. I suspect the hydration needs to be higher. Much better than chain pubs but sub standard for a micro brewery

An absolute unwelcoming place. Came in today, group of three. No smiles, greetings.. We ordered food and watched the chef make our amazing pizzas. Our food was ready but no servers. . The lovely lady in the kitchen then had to serve us food as nowhere to see anybody for more then 30minutes. The chef even did checkback. And offered to help us cut the pizza's. After an eternity two staff members came out from the office and continued chatting on bar. The couple on the bar gave us an absolute horrible service and as a fellow hospitality worker.. it was the most ignorant service ever .. Thanks to the chef for the amazing pizzas and kind service. My advice change the front of the house staff as they are letting down this place more and more.

We visited Zero Degrees for an informal working dinner with colleagues from several countries. The venue seemed ideal — relaxed, flexible, and well-suited to our group’s staggered arrival times. Unfortunately, the evening was disrupted by extremely loud karaoke, which made it impossible to hold any meaningful conversation. For a large group booking, we would have expected to be informed in advance about such events, as it significantly affected the purpose of our gathering.
Marco H — Google review
Visited as a medium sized group for food and drinks, the order came out wrong which meant a fairly long wait for a new pizza to be made. On the order there was a portion of dough balls which were just several little dry rolls with a pot of butter, an absolute stretch to market as dough balls. The venue itself was bland and they decided to cold call a few weeks later to ask us to book in with them again?! Never gave permission for this and found it a bit strange. Definitely wouldn't return as there were no real redeeming qualities.

Lovely restaurant with good food. Not the best Indian ever but decent quality. The staff was very polite but unfortunately, the service was a bit slow. We visited on 8/11/25 lunchtime as a party of four for my wife's birthday. This was our first ever visit to Mowgli restaurant and much anticipated. The menu options were very attractive - thankfully different from normal British Indian Restaurant fare. 2 of is opted for the sharer at £25 each - main elements are pot luck as decided by Chef. Ours were a house lamb and a house chicken curry plus rice, paratha, black dahl and some amazing explode in the mouth Yoghurt Chat Bombs. All very tasty, reasonably spiced and great layers of flavour. The other two chose individual dishes including butter chicken, Dialing Cauliflower, fenugreek kissed and tamarind treacle fries. Again, some great flavours. The sharers included a dessert of salted caramel ice-cream, the others had an excellent chocolate brownie and a coconut ice cream with my wife being given a brownie as a birthday treat - a lovely gesture. Total bill with glasses of (very good) wine was £170 which felt quite reasonable for the quality and quantity - the latter being adequate to fill amply without waste. I've marked the atmosphere down due to an adjacent loudmouth man who was abusing a female companion to the point of a staff member intervening. No one's fault but just spoiled things for a while. Will definitely return and also look out for other branches around the country on our travels.

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, with excellent service and very friendly, attentive staff. While we appreciated the overall experience, we felt that the dishes lacked the authentic Indian flavors we were expecting. Went for our anniversary - arrived 15 minutes early which was our fault so waited at the bar with the loveliest most incredible bartender!! He was the most positive part of our experience offering us a taster of a sherbet mocktail alongside our cocktail and cobra!! (You know who you are!!!) he recommended a place called cocktail club so please find out and reward him xx When we were sat we ordered with a lovely lady (blonde) again service wise, amazing!! Unfortunately after waiting a while for our food it came, and we were quite disappointed with the taste of the food. I feel so sorry for the kitchen that have to follow the recipe provided by the chain, as I’m sure the chefs could make better themselves! Therefore this poor review is not a reflection on ANY OF THE STAFF, but the franchise and brand MOWGLI itself. We are young and therefore so hesitant to complain, yet when the lovely blonde lady came to check on us, we showed a small amount of dissatisfaction in an awkward and unfortunate interaction, to which she asked her manager to comp the whole dish (£16!). She also offered us a dessert but unfortunately we decided we had to be on our way. Thank-you SO MUCH to all the staff who are NOT a reflection of MOWGLI’s poor poor food and catfish online!! I can now presume the promotional social media I’ve seen is entirely false and PAID PROMO… Thank-you so much to all the staff today, and I’m sorry that this business’ poor food is burdened onto you.

I've been to Mowgli a few times now and it's always really nice. This time we visited on a Wednesday so it was considerably more quiet than on the weekends and the atmosphere was much nicer, it didn't feel quite as crammed! We went for the Platter for 2 which is plenty of food and it includes ice cream/sorbet. We had 2 chicken and one paneer dish, the Ginger Chicken being both of our faves. The chat bombs were also a big hit, they're the perfect palate cleanser between curries. We also tried a couple cocktails, a very well made Espresso Martini and the Chili Mango Margarita which ended up being the spiciest thing on the table! It's a bit disappointing that all the curries seemed to be very mild, we were expecting at least a bit of heat but can't complain too much as it is completely up to the chef which curries you get. Service was excellent right up until the end where we got the bill and I said I'm happy to pay straight away but the server decided to give us "5 minutes" so after 20 minutes we just got up and paid at the bar.

Greek restaurant
Mediterranean restaurant
Located on Crwys Road in Cathays, The Hellenic Eatery is a popular Greek restaurant offering a variety of dishes for under 10. This family-run establishment boasts an extensive menu featuring wraps served with tzatziki and chips for just 5.50. With options like gyros, grilled halloumi, sausage, and chicken, there's something to satisfy every craving.
Not often leave a review for a restaurant but I must rate this restaurant 10/10. Come to Cardiff for my race and craving for Greek cuisine. It’s really out of my expectations the dish is freshly made not precooked you definitely can taste that. The portions, the food standard and quality are definitely worth the price! They even serve free house sweet treat called Greek Donuts with cinnamon and honey on top. Honestly it’s my first time to try this kind of dessert and it’s sooooo fresh and yummy! Last but not least the staffs are so friendly and kind! I will defo come back again if I travel Cardiff. Thank you!!!

I am visiting from Liverpool and found this place by chance for a pre-theatre dinner. I'm now very sad it is 200 miles away from where I live because the cooking is just lovely! I had their rabbit stifado special (£19.50) and it was one of those dishes which, even as a keen cook, makes you want to hang up your pots and pans because you know you'll never be able make something that delicious. It even had kidneys and livers, and whole juniper berries. My mother-in-law had moussaka; the white sauce was velvety and creamy flavoured with lovely levels of spice. My partner had chicken spits; the chicken was tasty, with a beautiful char, and the pitta was soft, moist, and clearly homemade. The aubergine salad starter was also beautiful. Simple, fresh, tasty, and so much more than the sum of it's parts. Tiny wine list (one of each colour) but we had a bottle of white (£23) and it was delicious and all you would ever need. Service was warm and friendly, and as we didn't have time for desert, they gave us a quick free dish of dough balls, honey, and cinnamons to share quickly, which was delightful. I hope to get back there before I leave on Monday to try their beef stifado with greek pasta. If you are in the area and what something genuinely proper to eat, you would mad to miss this place.

Booked for a group of 12 and we all had an amazing time. The staff are so friendly and the food is amazing! You should book in advance for big groups and have to fill out a preorder form. The staff even gave us complimentary honey dough balls! Highly recommend coming here. Someone had nut allergies and they were very accommodating

What a gem of a place. We visited for the first time yesterday as we love Greek food and we will definitely return. The welcome ,the wine , the food is all spot on. 10/10 from us
Gaynor H — Google review
I’ve been a long-time customer of The Hellenic Eatery, and while I still enjoy visiting, I’ve noticed some changes on my recent visits that weren’t necessarily for the better. On one occasion, the restaurant was playing non-Greek music, which took away from the authentic atmosphere. Part of the charm used to be the cultural touches — like the TV showcasing Greek places and traditions — which really reinforced the experience of “being in Greece” while dining. Unfortunately, those elements seem to be missing now. Service-wise, the staff appeared to be short-handed. Both times I visited recently, the restaurant was busy, and we experienced long waits for starters and mains. Even after asking for the bill, it took around 10 minutes for someone to bring over the card machine. In terms of food, I did notice some differences in preparation. For example, the htapodi with hummus and the tirokafteri had a lot of oil added on top. The oil sat heavily on the dishes and overpowered their flavors, which was a shame as the ingredients themselves are good quality. Also, the tables near the entrance can get uncomfortably cold at night when the door opens frequently. That being said, there are still positives. The staff remain very knowledgeable about the food, happily explaining how dishes are made and what ingredients they use. The overall atmosphere is still pleasant and welcoming — though it could be improved by bringing back some of the authentic Greek touches that made it so special before.
Holly W — Google review
I’ve been a customer of Hellenic Eatery for a very long time and always enjoyed it, but the new owners are really making it into something special. The last two visits there have ended with complimentary doughnuts for the whole table (and a lovely digestif liquor for me as I’m coeliac). Speaking of, while they don’t label the menu items as gluten free, if you speak to them they will cook your food separately — I asked if their chips were rolled in flour, and while it appears that they usually are, the staff cooked a portion of chips for me in a separate pan. Lovely, friendly jokey staff and absolutely delicious Greek food. The change in ownership has only made it better!
S R — Google review
Everything was amazing, starting with the traditional greek restaurant that makes you feel like you're in Greece as soon as you step in. The food was delicious with decent prices. The staff very friendly and they've surprised us with some cinnamon honey glazed doughnuts at the end. It was a great meal and came quite quickly as well. We'll definitely be back again.

Bar & grill
Coyote Ugly Saloon Cardiff is part of a renowned bar chain that originated in the United States and has since expanded to 12 other locations worldwide, including the UK. The saloon offers a lively atmosphere with bartenders singing and dancing on the bar tops while encouraging patrons to join in the fun. It's open seven days a week, serving up bar snacks like pizza, wings, loaded fries, and burgers. Additionally, guests can enjoy pool games and karaoke earlier in the evening.
A little dubious booking a table here having read some of the reviews, but we had an amazing night. On arrival we skipped the queue as we had pre booked and we're taken to our table by a friendly member of staff. Drinks order was taken and served promptly. Everyone was in party mode, the atmosphere was amazing. We danced all night and left absolutely buzzing. Best night out we have had in a long time.

Me and my missus went to the Bristol one and got served by Emma her service was great was very accommodating and friendly couldn’t ask for more tbh. Atmosphere was probably the thing that stood out the most it felt like some western in a desert. Pizza was decent and drink was great, and yea the people who worked here were full of character would def come back here. They really treat you good with the bottomless

the energy in coyote ugly cardiff is incredible- the staff know exactly how to get the crowd going and the atmosphere is electric the second you walk in. the dance routines absolutely make the night, it’s mesmerising to watch beautiful woman dance with the utmost confidence, brining the party and energy non stop all night!! an incredible selection of alcohol, soft drinks and food. they even have amazing packages available such as bottomless brunch, VIP table drink packages for such amazing prices. such great service from all staff behind the bar and they even offer table service, they have waitresses that are more than happy to take drink orders from your table👏🏻 i’m obsessed with the merchandise they offer too, kept my light up cowboy hat on all night! definitely the most entertaining night out in cardiff, the best place to be! cannot wait to be back, yeeeehaw 🤠

Staff were lovely and genuine, spoke to two members of staff outside and they were lovely and welcoming as were all the other staff working on the bar which made me feel comfortable. However several male guests ruined this experience, by touching me and the group of girls I was with, one even persistently approaching me after I’d told him to go away. Due to a lack of security in the bar area and there only seeming to be security on the doors, there was no way around this issue, I also witnessed him approach other groups of girls and do the same to them.
Molly C — Google review
this place sucked. incredibly loud, terrible music, overpriced, and awful. the vodka coke tasted suspicious, the vodka lemonades came with a single, 80% already melted, ice cube. the bar staff looked sad and dead inside, and the dancers were just in your face when you're trying to order drinks. queued for far too long and paid more than double what everybody else expected to enter in (expectations from previous visits mind), and then paid almost £10 per double vodka lemonade. outrageously expensive, even pulse is cheaper. there were people straight up selling you overpriced stuff in the bathrooms, and the place seemed to be incredibly densely populated yet nobody was dancing. the vibes were bland and we quickly left to go elsewhere. also, why on earth is there a huge tv showing the dance floor? I don't want to turn around and see the back of all my friends heads on a cinema size screen. they were also showing the f1 qualifying highlights on tv screens all around the dance floor. the music was insanely loud, we had to scream into eachothers ears just to still not hear eachother. what a fever dream, or should i say fever nightmare. never going to one of these again. first and last time, thanks. at least we didn't get body slammed, beaten to death, or sexual assaulted by the bouncers.
Tsukimi819 — Google review
I LOVE coyote ugly, the music is always amazing, on theme and successful in keeping the atmosphere lit. All the bartenders, barbacks & security are welcoming and match the vibe of the venue. Not to mention the added plus of being allowed to bust down ontop of the bar, it really is like no other

A truly fantastic venue showcasing excellence in fine dining in all aspects. The food was cooked to perfection with astonishing precision, each flavour and texture perfectly balanced with great skill. Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful, which added to the excellent evening spent here. With fantastic drinks on offer, and a broad panoramic view from the windows this is a.must visit venu! With the reductions in price due to the staff being in the process of being trained as part of their qualifications, this is fine dining at a more affordable level than most! Would strongly recommend.

Located in the Cardiff and vale college on the 5th floor. Modern interior, airy. Nice views and sunset for dinner. Service by Eastern European waitress both robotic and curt. Food selection limited. Portion massive: all courses. Tuna tartar was good but on the tasteless side- Under salted. The lamb was excellent- Came pink and would like it to be. Good accompaniment. Stick toffee massive portions and too much to finish- good dish. Variable cocktails- negroni. The apple martini was undrinkable. Good value for money for the size of the portions. Good option for dinner. Service could be a bit more Friendly, less judgmental and less Robotic.

Shopping Malls
The Cardiff Market, a Victorian shopping mall with two levels, has been a vibrant part of the city since the 18th century. The market is filled with merchants and food stalls, offering a variety of local culinary delights such as Welsh cakes cooked on cast iron griddles. The historic structure features a soaring glass roof and exudes a friendly atmosphere. In addition to exploring the market, visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions like the National Museum Cardiff and indulge in street food at Cardiff Indoor Market.
fantastic spot to explore, offering a variety of fresh produce, local goods, and unique finds. The atmosphere is vibrant, and it’s a great place to support independent traders. I came early, so many of the shops weren’t open yet, but it was still a pleasant visit. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Cardiff and looking for something local and authentic!

You can find a variety of stalls there: foods, books, bags, souvenirs, fish… I tried Welsh cakes from a stall run by very sweet ladies. They were delicious! Also, I realized I forgot to bring my lock, and I found one there and bought it. Imagine how diverse the market is. 😅

Love the great food options here and the decent attempt at gentrifying a very cool old building & market. It sadly is still rather filthy and is still a little short of the mark compared to some other (foodie) markets around Europe. That being said, I’d come back thanks to the delicious food (kudos to the Neapolitan pizza, Greek gyros and Welshcakes). If they cleaned this place up a bit it’d be 5-star level.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Cardiff Cardiff Market is a vibrant, historic gem that offers a real taste of local life. From the moment you step inside, you’re met with the buzz of traders, the aroma of freshly cooked food, and a genuine sense of community. Whether you’re after traditional Welsh cakes, vintage clothing, handmade crafts, or fresh produce, there’s something here for everyone. It’s a fantastic place to grab lunch—don’t miss the roast pork rolls, the fresh fish & chips, or the classic Clark’s pies. The vendors are friendly, full of character, and clearly passionate about what they do. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The market building itself is beautiful, with its Victorian architecture and glass roof letting in lots of natural light. It’s not just a place to shop, but a place to experience Cardiff’s culture, history, and everyday charm. A must-visit for anyone wanting to see the real Cardiff beyond the tourist trail!
Saundra — Google review
An absolute gem in the heart of the city! Cardiff Market is the perfect blend of historic charm and modern energy. The Victorian architecture gives it so much character, and the atmosphere is always buzzing without feeling overwhelming. There’s a fantastic mix of food stalls offering everything from Welsh cakes and fresh seafood to bao buns, pierogi, and loaded gnocchi — something for every craving. I had one of the best casual meals of my trip here. Beyond food, there are also stalls selling local produce, flowers, books, and quirky vintage finds. It’s spacious, welcoming, and full of personality. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Cardiff Market is a must-see spot that captures the spirit of the city.

Milkwood is a charming neighborhood cafe and restaurant situated in the stylish Pontcanna suburb of Cardiff. The restaurant offers contemporary Welsh dishes using locally sourced produce, including ingredients from suppliers like Cardiff Salad Garden and E Ashton Fishmongers. The menu features delectable options such as buttermilk fried chicken-topped waffles for brunch and Cornish cod with cauliflower for dinner.
My boyfriend and I visited cardiff last week. We decided to go to Milkwood for breakfast, as we had been recommended to give it a try. My boyfriend had the breakfast bun, and I had a full English breakfast. The food was amazing, and the chef brought our food out to us. We would definitely recommend it to others and when we go back to Cardiff we will be going here again. Lovely staff, great food 👌 😋

First time visiting this place for late breakfast as we wanted to try Welsh dishes. We didn’t book a table but they were very accommodating and found us a table for two. I ordered bacon, cockles and laverbread on toast and it was very good. I will definitely return and would recommend to try.
Palida S — Google review
Serious scran. The real deal. Ordered the Milkwood breakfast and each piece of food on the plate was banging. The standout for me were the hash browns, which were the crispiest I've ever experienced. I exited here with a full stomach and left behind a clean plate, knowing that one day I'd be back.

I may have finally found my Cardiff brunch spot. Milkwood in Pontcanna absolutely nails it. Big bright space with loads of natural light, retro gold signage and a buzzing, friendly atmosphere. Walk-ins only, but we got seated straight away even with the weekend crowd. There is seating inside, cosy corners at the back and plenty of space outside if the Welsh sun decides to show up. The Milkwood Breakfast is no joke. Sausage, bacon, poached eggs, toast, crispy hash browns, roasted tomato and buttery mushrooms, plus I added extra halloumi and garlic mushrooms. It nearly defeated me, but totally worth it. Big hearty portions, everything cooked properly and the ingredients actually taste fresh. The menu’s stacked with tempting options and there are plenty of veggie and vegan friendly choices too. I kept seeing the buttermilk chicken pancakes landing on other tables so they’re firmly on my list for next time. The drinks? Game-changing. Best iced latte I’ve had since landing in Cardiff. Smooth, balanced and exactly what my caffeine-deprived self needed to rejoin society. Their iced tea also knocked it out of the park. Super refreshing, fragrant and ideal after a good stomp through Pontcanna’s parks. Staff were lovely, efficient, and made the whole experience feel easy. Bonus points for being easy on the eye too, just an observation. Between the cracking food, chilled community vibe and proper coffee, Milkwood’s officially my new go-to.

Nestled in the heart of Cardiff, North Star Cardiff is a vibrant bar and restaurant that beautifully blends vintage charm with a modern boudoir aesthetic. This student-friendly venue not only serves up an enticing Italian menu but also hosts live music and comedy nights, making it a lively spot for entertainment. While its eclectic decor might seem overwhelming to some, the culinary offerings are truly commendable.
Their roast dinner is awesome, the "onion bhaji" style parsnips were an absolute game changer. Drink and food orders didn't take long to come to the table either...even the puddings were on point too. I would highly recommend booking for a Sunday roast to avoid disappointment. Fantastic food and drinks all at affordable prices. I can't recommend the North Star enough! On occasion there's a live band performing when we go which is lovely though you can check in advance if this isn't your cup of tea. If it isn't a live band it could be a different form of entertainment such as a Pub Quiz etc. You'll never forget their Sunday lunches, they're absolutely fantastic and are great value for money. I cannot recommend the Chicken dinner enough! The overall good menu is brilliant, a lot of options and all reasonably priced! The North Star is also dog friendly with a doggy option on the food menu! Overall I cannot fault this pub! It is one of my favorites.

The talented chefs and attentive front-of-house team work tirelessly to ensure every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience.
Very helpful staff were able to give us a table with privacy near the bar. Couldn't go past the seafood and had mussels and the bream. Both were delicious. Also a huge fan of the Old Land cocktail.

Our expectations were a bit too high. We had read excellent reviews and the menu looked phenomenal. Daffodil offers a solid experience with a nice menu offering. It’s an elevated pub, really.

Hiya, thanks for the delicious food and warm attitude! We did feel welcomed by your wonderful service! We had a great memory in this bar, if there were an option for 6 stars of the service I would definitely press that. I feel the tip is truly worthy and the price of the food is pretty fare if you are looking for a fine dining!

This was our first visit to Daffodil and we were very impressed. The place is decorated beautifully and has a lovely atmosphere. We had the Sunday lunch and the food was delicious. The staff were lovely and very helpful answering any questions we had about the food and drink. We will definitely be back! 😊

Had a really great roast here, I got the lamb and it was fantastic, lots of flavour and perfectly cooked. They don't skimp on the meat and with bottomless gravy you really can't go wrong. Came with some delicious veg as well and there was so much we couldn't quite finish it. I tried the pork as well which was excellent, and my friend really enjoyed the beef.

Ramen restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Matsudai Ramen is a popular Japanese ramen spot in Cardiff, known for its epic bowls of flavorful ramen and delicious fried chicken. Founded by ramen enthusiast James Chant, the restaurant has garnered rave reviews from food critics and customers alike. The menu features a variety of ramen options, from the garlic-infused Vampire Slayer tonkotsu to deeply savory miso.
I’ve been following Matsudai since their early pop-up days, and then became an avid kit enjoyer until their restaurant opened. I unfortunately moved away in ‘22 and after 3 years finally found myself in the area! I came with high expectations and they were exceeded. I stand firmly by the statement that Matsudai is STILL some of the best ramen I’ve had outside of Japan. I had the Shoyu upgraded to Tokusei (deluxe) it was so flavorful and amazing just like I remembered. I only wish I still lived in the country to enjoy Matsudai more often..
Lady V — Google review
Below mediocre; we’re unsure as to how it has maintained such a high rating. Would avoid. The countertop was sticky and the service was somewhat slow despite the relative lack of customers (it was late in the evening). The pacing of dishes was good. The chicken karaage was the highlight of the meal, and perhaps the only recommendable dish. The chicken was juicy, crispy, tender — everything you’d expect — and paired nicely with the curry mayo sauce. The mini chashu don was underwhelming for £6. The rice was barely seasoned and the grains didn’t stick to each other, unlike traditional Japanese rice. The chashu itself had a nice smoky flavor but it wasn’t particularly seasoned either, meaning the overall dish was bland. The iekei-inspired ramen was average. Although the broth was too salty, it still had the depth expected of pork bone broth, and the chashu was tender (albeit very thinly sliced). Unfortunately, the shoyu ramen had no redeeming factors. The noodles were slightly undercooked, nearly crunchy, and the broth was exceptionally salty yet somehow simultaneously flavorless. Both dishes were lukewarm when they arrived, likely because they had been waiting for a while on the countertop before a member of staff finally delivered them to the table. We couldn’t finish either bowl. Nothing is more heartbreaking than spending a decent amount of money on disappointing food and service, and this place is expensive. To add insult to injury, one member of staff held out the tip machine, turning it so that he could also see our choice, and watched judgmentally as we pressed No Tip (having been put off by the entire dining experience and the additional 20% VAT). Do look elsewhere if you’re searching for a satisfying meal.

I’ve been craving a good ramen for a while now but couldn’t find a proper Japanese ramen spot in Cardiff. Saw a lot of recommendations of this place on TikTok, and i’ve been wanting to visit this place for months. Finally made it today as i finished work early and decided to stop by for dinner. Not sure if it was because its Halloween and they had limited menu, but luckily the Tonkotsu ramen was still available- exactly what I was craving. For the starter, I ordered the yuzu-cured gurnard, not really knowing what to it is. It came out sashimi-style and honestly? It was so good — delicate, fresh, and perfectly balanced with the citrus flavour. Then came the Sunset Tokotsu Ramen — and wow. The broth was rich, packed with umami, and not bland at all. The noodles were cooked perfectly — nice and chewy, not soggy, which I really appreciate since they tend to soften quickly in hot broth. There was only one dessert on the menu, the matcha crème brûlée, and at first I thought of skipping it to get dessert elsewhere. But i’m so glad I stayed — it had a deep, authentic matcha flavour, not too sweet, and a beautiful finish to the meal. The total came to about £36, which honestly made sense considering I had a full meal - starter, main, and dessert. For the quality, and flavour, I left the restaurant satisfied. Overall, everything was excellent — the food, the service, and the pace. I went alone without a booking, was seated quickly, and my food came out fast and hot. Had the perfect dinner — comforting, flavourful, and exactly what I needed. Definitely coming back again 😋🍜

I lived in Japan for 2 years and visited so many ramen restaurant but I never seen this short ramen noodle. I asked the manager that the noodle size is ok or not. He said it is standard but the other staff member told me it is not. The manager was super rude and ramen was horrible. I can say this ramen is not authentic, specially you cannot find this kind of noodle in Japan.
Limho L — Google review
We were recommended this place and we’re definitely not disappointed - delicious food and friendly service. Also lots of great veggie and vegan options - the chef was even so kind as to tweak one of the dishes to make it vegan friendly. Highly rate!
Saskia S — Google review
The ramen is really good. The noodles are high quality with a great bite to them. I opted for chicken topping which was absolutely fantastic and melts in your mouth. The broth was really amazing too although for me a little unconventional. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Cardiff. Their karaage and gyozas were top notch too.
Mohamed ( — Google review
Their ‘iekei inspired’ Yokohama style ramen was pretty solid all round. Noodles, broth, toppings and all were pretty on point. I also ordered a second bolw, a regular shoyu ramen and that was a letdown. The noodles were tremendous broken to the point you could just spoon them from the broth. I’ve voiced comments about the noodles to one of the waiters who so kindly checked with the chef. The reason given was they over stirred the noodles. This is akin to having chopped up spaghetti which is a cardinal sin in Italian cooking. Check out the pics. Overall, I’ll definitely be back for more but I’ll stick with their iekei ramen.
Bertrand N — Google review
Although I've had ramen many times this was an enjoyable experience Matsudai style! Things were unusual & new to us, so we appreciated the waiters help. We were seated in a dark area due to another customer having an issue with bright light & after requesting a candle things seemed a bit less gloomy. From the layout / wooden chairs & benches/ vibey music / open kitchen & noise from customers this isn't a quiet place!! The food was yummy, not cheap but tasty. It's not quite in town and we had a 30minute walk across the city to it & the area has many multi cultural shops & restaurants. If you're in the mood for Ramen & don't want a restaurant chain...then try this!

What a gem this place is. Went for the bottomless brunch, and it was fantastic. I had the kg of chicken wings, because I identify as 2 - 3 people. Absolutely fantastic food, I was very surprised how good it was. Im a Guinness drinker, and can confirm it was on point. Mind your head on the gents toilets 🤣🤣 i did almost scalp myself. The pub itself is very inviting, and the staff are exceptional and very helpful. I turned up on my bike, so was conscious about having it in view which the staff were happy to accommodate. Very homely and warm inside also super clean including the toilets. Overall a must visit place in cardiff. I was over the moon with this pub, and will be frequenting it. Recommend all day long.

5 Stars – Amazing Experience at The Woodville Cardiff! We had a wonderful experience at The Woodville in Cardiff! From the moment we arrived, the whole team was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and fully accommodating to our family. We visited using Wowcher vouchers, and everything was seamless. Jess was absolutely fantastic – so attentive and kind – and her manager even went out of their way to make a special mocktail for my daughter, which really made her day! The entire bar and team went above and beyond what we could have expected. The service, atmosphere, and personal touches made it a truly memorable visit. Highly recommended – thank you to Jess and everyone at The Woodville! xx

I ordered beef brisket fries and had literally no words when I got a bowl of chips with some sort of sauce with mince and peppers in it? There was so little of the mixture, and even within the sauce there was so little beef. It reminded me of that mince bolognese you get in a tin, but not as flavourful? So weird! I never want to bother anyone and the staff were really nice, but I'm very sad I just paid 7.50 for absolutely nothing even remotely related to beef brisket 😂 If you're thinking about eating here I wouldn't, but it looks decent for pints and student drinks deals.

Fantastic place serving halal on most items. Staff were very friendly and assured me all food is cooked separately from pork. For the quality of the food, the price is on the higher side, but it is worth it. I would advise booking a table in advance. Highly recommend this place!

It is one of my favourite restaurants in Cardiff. Great food doesn’t always have to be fancy. Every time I come here, the dishes remind me of my late mother's cooking. Tonight, we had Assam Seabass, Salt & Pepper King Prawns, and Roti Canai. All of them were delicious. I’ve also tried many other dishes, like Nasi Lemak, Salted Egg King Prawns, Seafood Hor Fun with Egg Gravy, Mee Goreng, Salted Egg Squid, Kam Heong Prawns, Japanese Tofu with Seafood, Salted Fish with Pork Belly, and San Bao Rice. I always leave with a happy tummy.

Sensational experience! Food was exceptional, seasonal, varied, simple in presentation but complex yet well balanced in flavour. So many stand out dishes, but for me the scallop was the best I’ve ever eaten and my first taste of mutton was very delicious! Service was very friendly but attentive without being intrusive. A jewel of a restaurant well deserving it's Michelin star. Every detail is thought through with fastidious attention to detail. The food is innovative, and delicious. It was fine I guess. Definitely not bad but I don’t understand all the hype around it. Had the sticky beef roti. Packed with flavor but the beef was chewy to the point my jaw hurt. The cucumber salad on top was refreshing and the perfect addition to the rich beef. But the paratha/roti was frozen. For a restaurant who serves this as their signature dish, you would expect it to be made in house. We also had the red curry with rice and that wasn’t as nice, it fell flat. Incredibly oily due to the coconut sauce splitting and it just ended up causing this unpleasant texture.

Food was tasty but I do feel it’s slightly over hyped. I had the beef roti and wontons. The beef was a tiny bit on the chewy side and quite greasy but flavours were good overall.

Went for a family meal on Boxing day. 5 of us and ordered a family platter, some steaks and a mandi along with a few cocktails and desserts. All the food was lukewarm and not piping hot as we expected. The steaks were cooked well but again cold. Didn’t really complain until we found a piece of blue roll in our food. This was brushed aside and even laughed at by the manager. Absolute joke that they thought this was funny. The only positive was the young waitress that served us.

I recently visited Deli Fuego, and I had a great experience! The Mediterranean food was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the falafel and hummus, which were packed with flavor. The haloumi and pizza were also fantastic. The service was welcoming and friendly, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The lunch menu offers excellent value, with a two-course meal costing under £10, which is a great deal. The only downside was the creamy pasta—it was a bit watery, but everything else was great. Another highlight was the variety of cakes on offer, which were absolutely mesmerizing. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

This trendy burger spot has quickly become a favorite among locals, offering delicious skin-on chips and delightful brioche buns that perfectly complement their unique Welsh Black steak-style burgers. Unlike the more common loose-packed patties found elsewhere in the UK, these dense creations are truly something special.
Very tasty burgers, excellent fries, fast and friendly service. An interesting selection of burger options available. This was our third visit to Got Beef, the food and service has been consistently good every time.

What a fabulous place. Really warm welcome, great vibe. The food was lush, great burgers and sides. The fries were particularly amazing! Such friendly staff. And they serve brilliant Welsh wine; what's not to love?
Andrew N — Google review
Food is GREAT quality, however the flavours promised on the menu (for example pb&j) don't come through unfortunately. Chips and wings delicious, beef top notch but just that touch of room for improvement flavour wise. Service was great, not sure about the cheeky £3.94 service charge though 🤭 I would recommend the place to others 👍🏼

Popped in during the week, really quiet so good timing as they had just open. I went here many years ago, and it's still lovely we say in the garden. Friendly staff member. Place was really clean and food just delicious. Will keep this venue in mind for future burger fixes I need

You got a beef with me? If yes let’s sort it out here! Haha Got Beef is a wonderful burger restaurant. Great burgers really. Too many options on the menu to choose from and I decided to go for the steak one which was tender and juicy! My friend had a veggie burger which was yum! The halloumi fries were spot on. I only wished they served milkshakes too which would have been an icing on the cake!

Ordered: - hangover burger - skin on fries - got the ‘Welsh black burger’ free through Uber Eats Hangover burger: the bacon was really nice and crispy and the order was hot and a good portion size. Bun could be toasted or toasted more to stop it going soggy, although understand can be hard to do take out burgers and keep them fully hot/not soggy. Would be nice to have the option of more fillings. i.e pickles, tomatoe, ketchup, mustard ect. Well seasoned however, the quality of the patty itself tasted pretty low (biggest complaint). Skin on fries - very well seasoned, very crispy and arrived hot. Slightly bigger portion size for the price I think would be appropriate. Welsh black burger - again similar. Well seasoned, arrived hot and was a good portion size. However, more options for fillings (on Uber eats at least), soggy bun and poor patty quality. Overall enjoyable meal and was a very good deal but definitely room to improve Thank you.

Have visited many times and plan to keep visiting many more. Food is always top quality and amazing. New items and specials popping up keeping it all fresh with a warm, friendly service which completes the experience. Unable recommend highly enough to anyone that loves amazing burgers.

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Cafe Citta is a charming, family-run Italian restaurant known for its home-cooked dishes and cozy atmosphere. Run by Adriano D'Arezzo and his wife Diana, the restaurant has gained a reputation as one of the best Italian eateries in town. The open kitchen adds to the inviting ambiance, with customers often comparing it to dining in their nonna's kitchen.
One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever visited, it should be since I've been planning on going for 15 years now, such a small place, but with an excellent, authentic atmosphere. Will definitely come again, although always remember to book in advance as there's only 13 tables.

Absolutely fantastic. My partner and I are convinced Cafe Cita remains amongst the best if not the best Italian restaurants in Cardiff. It had been years since we last ate here, not since before the pandemic - and we were delighted that it remains as brilliant as before. We tried one of the day's specials - the Pasta Salmone, and it was delicious. Service is always super friendly and quick and It's got a brilliant cozy vibe. Remember to book a table, because it's always in demand! Definitely looking forward to coming back again and again!! Grazie mille Cafe Citta!

Stunning little Italian restaurant. Delicious customisable food cooked fresh in house with high quality and flavourful ingredients. The staff were friendly and accommodating and cleared a table so we could sit outside on the terrace in the sun. Great choice of wine. I haven't stopped thinking about the food since we visited 3 weeks ago, 5 stars is a no brainer, I'd give more stars if I could. Will 100% be back - highly recommended.

I popped here for lunch on Thursday. I was in the mood for an authentic Italian meal and knew I wanted pasta. On arrival they had one table left as I hadn’t booked which was by the door. It’s a bit of a mish mash of a seat there and kinda feels like it’s there to maximise the covers but either way I was by myself and had a seat. I saw numerous people turned away (politely) throughout my meal as they hadn’t booked. When I left the place was full both inside and out so I can only infer it has a good reputation locally. I ordered the tagliatelle carbonara and a coke. Coke came quickly and the carbonara in about 15 minutes which indicates it was probably made from scratch. The carbonara was decent. It was slightly heavy and I only just finished it but I did like the flavour. It had an abundance of pancetta. Normally places skimp on this as it’s the most expensive component but here there was tonnes. It was nice but in a weird way kinda threw me. Venue is small and contained but the service manages to weave in and out. I was shown the specials which on another day sounded delicious. It’s not cheap but it did feel like good value and liked the atmosphere. I would go again. And again the service stood out.
Tom — Google review
Compact inside when busy. If you can get over (/avoid) that or sit at the tables outside, 101% worth it. Very busy days? Book ahead or consider being flexible with timings. Still reading? After three friends recommended Cafe Citta, a mere two years later (edit: just read recent other reviews and saw another person who waited too long!), we went as a family for a celebration. Teenagers' tastes were covered with resultant smiles, (1x Normal) Adult's choice was wide as well 👍 Eager to return. (1x) Picky father's narrow criteria led to three strong choices . (Two were recommended beforehand.) Portion, taste and texture spot on. Looking forward to the next time. (Carbonara?)

Outstanding. Had not been to the city or this place for some years. The food was realy good. To start i had some olives, lovely garlic bread to share and a very tasty italian sausage dish. Great food. Friendly and helpful staff, coupled with a nice vibe in which to enjoy a meal with friends or on your own. I highly recommend a visit to Cafe Citta. Loved it so much we booked again before we left......

Tiny but cosy venue where booking in advance is recommended. Its traditional home cooked Italian food. We ordered bread & olives to start and were disappointed with cubes of toasted bread rather than fresh, however the olives were lovely. For our mains, we tried the gnocchi with spinach and gorgonzola and tagliatelle carbonara, all freshly cooked however, it took almost an hour from ordering to arrive. We were very close to the kitchen area and orders were getting muddled, and a change of staff didn't help! The food overall was nice, but don't go if you're in a rush, this is not the place to be hurried!

This was the most fun tasty dinner of our travels this time! Loved the atmosphere. Service was fast and accurate. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly tasty. Dessert was wonderful😋

I was very happy with the service, the staff are very friendly they check in every so often to makesure your happy. Me and my girlfriend both had the rump steak which was cooked perfectly along with a couple mocktails. I would say the drink's were larger than we expected which was a nice suprise, the peppercorn sauce i had was very rich and peppery but not too thick. My girlfriend had the mushroom sauce which was also very rich but had a more delicate flavour 10/10 would recommend (already have to a couple friends)

Being a solo traveller, the staff could not have been more welcoming. Flat iron steak cooked perfectly (great job to the kitchen team) and dealt with my food allergy with no fuss. I had been to their Bristol restaurant and I’m pleased to say that I was just as impressed with their staff and food. Worth going out of your way to visit them.

Lovely meal here for my fiance birthday. We went lunch time and there was not many people there so we could sit where we wanted (we chose the Darlek seat). The food was tasty, slightly over prices in my opinion. Service was also good. We would visit again on a special occasion.

Me and my partner had the best experience here. The service was brilliant from the start to the end. We had seen from the website that you could eat inside a dalek. Me and my partner are massive fans so we booked in advance to sit inside it. On arrival, we were greeted very warmly by a waiter he also served us for the rest of our experience. We even asked him to take our photo and he was more than happy to. The decor was beautiful ! I we couldn’t stop looking around. The food tasted absolutely amazing and was worth every penny. The photos don’t do it justice but we will definitely be back. ⭐️ 😊

Friendly staff who were attentive, thanks to the mention of the local food festival we went on Sunday and had a great day. Food arrived quickly, mash was a bit lumpy otherwise the rib and sauce was nice and my friend enjoyed her burger. Can’t recommend the cocktails we had, they weren’t very strong and very sharp, we left after finishing our meal to have more elsewhere. Great design to the restaurant, artistic and fun. Overall good lunch and experience and would return.

First of all the 2 Staff who looked after us all evening where amazing, thank you ladies. 3/11/2021 7pm. You literally made the night. The food was great. The Mrs loved her ribeye. Ive had more tender T-Bone elsewhere but it was of high quality. I think I'd try another steak next time. The sides where really good and I'd say the Mac and cheese could be a bit thicker in terms of cheese and sauce. The desserts were amazing I had the brownie. Thanks for letting us switch up the ice-cream as opposed to the menu offering. The decor was great and the staff were very knowledgeable including the lady who had only been in the job 2 weeks. Good for you two. It's nice to get a bit of back story and history on a restaurant. All in all a great night and good food. We will be back. It was a unique experience being so few people dining in the restaurant but we were able to explorer the whole place and interact better with the staff. Felt very VIP. THANK YOU. 👌

Espresso bar
Calabrisella Canton is a classic Italian neighborhood restaurant located in Cardiff, offering a variety of traditional Italian dishes such as pizza, pasta, and mains. The restaurant is open all day from breakfast to dinner, attracting locals for morning espresso and evening wine. Known for its huge thin-based pizzas, Calabrisella Canton is owned by three friends from Calabria who also operate a gelateria on Cowbridge Road East.
Calabrisella were incredible as our wedding caterers. We’ve long been huge fans of their restaurant, where we had our first meal as a couple together. It was the perfect choice for our special day. Every detail was meticulously handled and they took care of all our catering needs; a beautiful canapé spread for cocktail hour, a two-course sit-down meal, our wedding cake, a dessert table, and a pizza van for the evening. Our guests were absolutely blown away by the food; everyone raved about the exceptional quality and generous portions—no one left with an empty belly! Salvo, Angelo, and the entire team took excellent care of us, offering a bespoke and delicious menu tailored to dietary requirements, including allergies, vegetarian, and dairy-free options. The tasting session was brilliant, and Chef Domenico was amazing; the food quality was outstanding and the plating on the big day could easily rival that of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The canapés were beautiful and our wedding cake—a classic Italian sponge with fresh fruits and cream—was a huge highlight. They even crafted a stunning dummy cake for photos that perfectly matched my inspiration pictures. The dessert table was exquisite, and every sweet treat looked as good as it tasted. The waitstaff on the day were professional, attentive, and ensured everything ran smoothly. The communication with our venue, Insole Court, was also seamless, leaving us stress-free throughout the process. Calabrisella’s team put so much thought and care into every aspect of the catering, it truly made our day unforgettable. Whether you're planning a wedding or any other event, book them—you will not be disappointed! Grazie ancora Calabrisella! Photos by Imogen Eve Photography.

We moved to Cowbridge Road East a few weeks ego and I need to tell you it's our favourite pizza so far. We tried 2 other places first, but Calabrisella is way better if it comes to pizza choice. I have gluten intolerance, but I felt ok after (which I always do in Italy after pizza) so from time to time I will treat myself to their pizza for sure. Highly recommend.

The delivery was fast. The sauce and dough were very tasty, however there was a lack of toppings. I had paid extra for chicken and mozzarella and as you can see there was very little there. This was a shame as everything else was good the toppings that were there tasted great.

Cannot recommend this place more!! The food was delicious but the service was what made the experience so memorable. Every waiter was so lovely, helpful and attentive which makes such a difference! We had the burrata and Bolognese arancini which were both fab. The calzone was massive, had the perfect amount of filling and the dough was great too. The homemade pasta was the star. Definitely worth visiting asap!

Really reasonably priced, fresh and tasty Italian food. Casual Cafe style setting. The arancini starter was delicious, the lasagne was fresh and a perfect size portion! The dessert was so fresh and light! The Staff were friendly and welcoming, really nice that they brought water to the table without us requesting it! Will definitely return 😊

I have been a regular customer of Calibrisella for over a year. The food is always good, and I love the fact that all pizzas have the option of being a calzone. I first tried cannelloni from Calibrisella. I have now managed to go to Sicily and try the local food directly (not just for review purposes). These guys have got it spot on. Eating the amazing food while on holiday and knowing I can still have it in Cardiff, makes me feel a special kind of privilege. Calibrisella is known in Cardiff for good Italian food, and with good reason.

No. 5 Pontcanna is a charming restaurant adorned with mirrors and paintings, offering refined French cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Guests rave about the excellently cooked sirloin steak, accompanied by delectable homemade chips and well-prepared side dishes. The house Malbec and Merlot are highly recommended, while starters like broccoli soup and calamari receive high praise. Although some find the food less flavorful than expected, the overall dining experience is enhanced by attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere.
Just a quick note to say that No. 5 is a really great addition to the Pontcanna food scene, offering something a little different - more low key, but with a focus on great quality dishes. Went for dinner a few weeks back (there's a lovely intimate atmosphere) and just had breakfast there this morning, and it really is very good. I'm looking forward to doing a better review with pictures for our next visit. Update 28 April 2024 We decided to try No. 5 Pontcanna for Sunday lunch and, having tried and tested and accumulated a fair few favourites in and around Cardiff, I've got to say this didn't disappoint. On the contrary everything about the experience was spot on. Kudos to the staff, who were pleasant, receptive and quick to please. The kitchen too, were on-point. Good ingredients and really great flavours. And there was a really great atmosphere. A perfect Sunday afternoon lunch.

The food 3.5. Service 5. The food at times was less flavorful than you’d expect from the appearance of the dish. For Cardiff, I’m not sure you’ll find better, but compared to a major city, I was underwhelmed with the food. The food also felt really heavy - I don’t usually feel heavy after French food. But I suppose this is a British French fusion. I’d probably return here if I was in the neighborhood, but I would be careful on what I’m ordering. (I didn’t like any of the appetizers and I tried all 4). The place itself is really cozy and unique!

A good experience, nice decor and set-up, once you're in you do forget that you're somewhere in Cardiff and it takes you in a small restaurant from France. The food was very good, ham hock starter with a beautiful scotch egg was very well put together with the pickled veggies, worked excelent. Nice pork belly and duck, good wine, loved the nutty ice-cream, had a side of fries which I think it was the only pre-made food out of them all an you could taste and see that, soaked in oil. Could do with some chairs a bit more comfortable. All in all a very nice place with excelent food and good atmosphere.

First up was home made latin bread, complete with guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Swiftly followed by empanadas which got absolutely demolished. Loaded nachos were next, with plenty of BBQ beef, Tex Mex cheese and chilli seasoning. To round off mains we finished strong on Salvadorian chicken wings. Tiny Rebel Cardiff is an offbeat bar located at 25 Westgate St, Cardiff CF10 1DD. The brick-walled bar offers themed rooms and serves craft beers, ciders, and creative burgers. It's a dog-friendly establishment that welcomes canine guests with treats and water. The bar features a vast variety of beer from Tiny Rebels' award-winning brewery in Newport.
I've been drinking Tiny Rebel beers for years but this was my first time in Wales and the first time I'd got to visit one of their bars. Hopefully it won't be the last. The staff were really friendly, the beers are spot on, the vibe was cool without ever being uncomfortable and the bar snacks were excellent too. I'd liken it to a Brewdog bar but cosier and warmer. The place was lively on a Friday night with most of the tables reserved but we still squeezed in and enjoyed some really good loaded fries and garlic mushrooms. Definitely somewhere I'd return if ever I'm in Cardiff again

The best place in Cardiff for a beer with a burger - and onion rings, which were as crispy as they looked. Appreciate that you can try before you buy. Tried them all so for once, I finally found a beer I liked and will stick with - Cwtch. Rebel IPA was nice too. Great service and ambience.

Great vibe and creative beers Tiny Rebel Cardiff is a fantastic spot for craft beer lovers and anyone looking for a fun, laid-back atmosphere. The interior has a cool, urban feel with funky décor, neon signs, and a great mix of seating options—perfect for casual drinks or a relaxed night out. The beer selection is excellent, with a wide range of styles brewed in-house. I tried a few of their seasonal and core beers—standouts were the Clwb Tropica and Stay Puft. They’re bold, creative, and full of flavor.

Shake Shack Cardiff is a trendy, fast-casual eatery located in the iconic St Davids Dewi Sant shopping mall, just a short walk from Cardiff's central stations. This gourmet burger chain offers an array of delectable options including burgers, hot dogs, hand-spun shakes, beer, wine and their famous crinkle cut fries. The quality of the food is highly praised by visitors who particularly enjoyed the flavorful meat and buns as well as the perfectly fried fries.
A good place to eat located on the first floor of St David's 2. Order at the till and not at the pads... it's less confusing. The food is a tad on the expensive side but it was well cooked and hot. I had the chicken bites. No steps to access this restaurant so those who have mobility challenges will find it easy to enter.

Incredible food quality. A bit pricey but well worth the extra taste and freshness. All disabled access is fine except the self-service screens may be too high for some wheelchair users, in that case you can order at the counter directly. As far as a fast food burger place goes this is up there in my opinion I'm going to give it a solid 10 for taste and quality.

Rakshitha served me today at Shake Shack Cardiff, it was my first time ever and she was so patient and kind with me, she talked me through the menu and answered any questions I had which I appreciated, I enjoyed my food and Rakshitha came and checked up on me and asked how my food was and was always smiley too! Thank you for giving me great service today and I can’t wait to come back!! Thank you - Samah

The food was really lovely, it's very filling however. The burgers in particular were delicious and the shakes were yummy however the prices were so not worth it, to eat for two people it cost me £40 as they don't do meals so we had to order each item separately, they should do meals because it would cut the price down. Honestly don't think it was worth the money as we did not even finish our food, however if I came back here again I might just get a burger and shake.

Food is absolutely amazing, and great quality. My favourite is their hotdog, although the frozen custard will have you wanting to come back. Gotta try the smoke shack burger too, has plenty of toppings and is flooded with flavour.

Thought I’d give this place ago online again and once again it’s a chance of raw burger or what you actually ordered what’s the point in the well done option if it NEVER comes well done. would rate it 0 if I could given customers try and give your establishments another go and pay not normal burger prices you’d think you’d pay a little more attention this is why your online orders are going downhill where’s the manager of this place! ?

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Dorothy's Fish Bar is a beloved Cardiff establishment that has been serving up delicious fish and chips for over 50 years. Locals rave about the excellent cod, chicken curry, fries, and other classic offerings. It's a popular spot for post-night-out meals and match day feasting. The chippy is known for its generous portions of hot and tasty food, including massive fish, perfectly cooked sausages, and huge rissoles.
Delicious, freshly fried fish and chips with homemade curry sauce and gravy. The chips are crispy on the outside, creamy in the center. The fish (cod) is beautifully battered and delicious. The gravy is lovely but the homemade curry sauce is the unsung hero. Service is friendly and efficient. Despite the queue, everything was served quickly and piping hot. A real star along Cardiff’s "chippy lane."

Really nice fish and chips for £11.20. A good sized portion, would have easily fed two. Generous portion of chips....not particularly thick cut which leads to quite a few crispy bits but plenty of a sensible size. Fish was skinless and cooked to order so batter was nice and crispy. I took mine away but there's convenient seating if you want to eat inside. Server was very polite and helpful, I would definitely return. Thanks Dorothy

Great spot for late night eats. we googled reviews on where to eat late night in Cardiff, this is the first place that popped up after 11 PM. It did not disappoint. There’s a very manageable lineup outside, and you get your order in, in under 10 minutes. We were here with our kids. Our youngest had the sausage and chips , our teenager had the chicken curry and chips, my wife and I split a cod in a box - which was a very large, serving of freshly fried cod, with chips, and mushy peas. We decided to eat in. The dine in spot is very basic. But the food was very good, especially for the price. The staff were very hospitable, knowledgable about allergies, and accommodated us in, and explain a little bit about the 70 year history of the restaurant - especially Tanya. She was so great at taking care of us, checking in on if we needed anything, and making sure the food was good. Highly recommended. Great spot! Great people!

Not good, we'll give it a miss from now on, they don't listen to your order , curry sauce is different/ horrible and poured all over your chips, it's a sad facsimile of the original. I won't be calling again.

We were recommended to go here as we walked through town. There was a lovely young man who helped us with our food selection - tasting the delicious curry sauce and the battered meat/hash filled tasty ball! He also helped us with directions to get an uber. Lovely staff, atmosphere and food. Hope you get down to the black country for a taste of our orange chips!

Thought id try this place out as I've been told about it from various sauces! As I've moved from Swansea to Cardiff, I tried to come here last Monday but allas they where shut, went there this Lunch time on a lovely afternoon, the lady was very welcoming and a great chat, I had a Battered Jumbo Sausage And Chips and a couple of cans of Diet Cokes and sat on the nearby seats and ate them in the sun - fantastic! :o)

UPDATE 2025 I walked into the cafe part of Dorothy’s to order and was told to order next door. Ordered then back to sit down very strange, but who cares getting the best chips in cardiff. Then when food was brought out to us it’s in the recyclable plates with a wooden spoon. All that Dorothy’s was built on in my eyes was the option to have the quick plastic tray or a sit down with a real plate and fork. The place has lost its atmosphere and felt somewhat lost in time. It’s sad to see this happen. I can’t quite understand why they would make this change but can imagine the saving of a pot wash is not worth losing tens of customers daily. This is such a shame and I hope it’s reversed soon, the place has really lost its charm and personality Been coming to Dorothy's for years always have the same, chicken curry cheese and chips. The curry sauce is world famous well Cardiff famous anyway, so fruity and flavoursome. The chips are spot on crunchy yet lovely and fluffy inside. If your in Cardiff no better fast food place.

Quite possibly the best chip shop I've ever been to! Their chips are great on their own but if you are fancying something more the chicken curry and chips is to die for. The chip shop has a small eat in area if you don't fancy take away, both are fantastic.

Wiwo Noodle Bar, located on Woodville Road in Cathays, offers a compact selection of pan-Asian dishes for takeout. Their menu includes a variety of bases such as noodles or rice, along with fillings like chicken breast, duck, prawns, tofu, mixed peppers and peanuts. Customers can choose their preferred sauce and toppings to customize their meal.
Better than most chinese places I've had noodles or salt and pepper wings from. It's always usually salty but the noodles were good, beef was tender and the chicken wings had a cinnamon smell. It was lush. Even the sushi was really good. Definitely ordering again!
Taz M — Google review
Ordered two boxes of noodles the other night for home delivery. Each box cost me around £10-11. Wow was I shocked when I opened these boxes, both of them were half full as you can see in the pictures. For £10 you get a half full box of noodles it’s crazy 😂. I’ve ordered from them numerous times before and their food is always really good so there was nothing wrong in terms of taste but the portion size was just disgusting and wrong. I called the restaurant and they told me that their boxes are bigger now that’s why they were both half full. The boxes were the exact same size as before disgusting…. Will be sticking to Wok To Walk going forward.

I would definitely recommend this dish to anyone who is looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. In addition to the great food, Wiwo Noodle Bar also has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Properly decent bit of Turkish grub in West Cardiff. Reasonably priced too. The wraps are great. And the shish is better than the shawarma. I like to go once every few weeks, and I'm yet to have a bad meal, sitting in or taking away.

Four Turkish ladies, travelling back to Bath from Cardiff, decided to stop randomly at Sen BBQ — without knowing anything about it — and what an absolute gem we discovered! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest welcome, as if we were old friends. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and the hospitality truly heartwarming. And the food... wow. Absolutely delicious! Everything was perfectly cooked — smoky, rich, and bursting with authentic flavour. You could tell it was a family-run business, with so much care and passion poured into every dish. We felt like we were back home in Turkey. This is hands down the best Turkish food we've had in the UK for a very long time. If you're ever near Cardiff — or even if you're not — make the trip to Sen BBQ. You won't regret it. Thank you

Just had a meal with my family, i can say the food is lovely. The place is lovely too as you cannot see it from outside. Once you enter and look back of the place. Staff's are friendly too. Menus are more traditional than what we find on any other Turkish restaurants. The portion size is good too. I would recommend to try this place.

Food was nice however the prices have gone a bit crazy here. A modest portion will cost you around £15 with a drink. Considering half of this is salad and chips I think it's far too costly for a take away. For two people and paid £38

First time eating here and absolutely loved it. Once i ordered, the owner came to check to make sure i understand that the food I ordered was spicy, i assured him and asked for fresh chillies as well 😄 i really enjoyed my meal and the service was really excellent. Was offered extra bread and hot tea after my meal. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great Turkish meal. And I'll be back, whenever I'm around Cardiff .

My family wanted to go to another restaurant across the road to eat dim sum so I came here alone instead. Easy to read menu of starters, mains, sides and desserts. Very reasonably priced. There is a sit down bit at the back which is fine. My food came as requested altogether and I chose the deep fried feta parcels, chicken shawarma with salad, bread and rice. Everything tasted so fresh and the chicken was lovely and moist. I was treated to a small plate of Turkish Delight which seemed to be home made and tasty. I ordered 2 portions of baklava to take away as per my husbands request and we ate those later at home. Really friendly staff and very relaxed atmosphere.

Kamal K — Google review
My first time at Slims, fair play it was extremely tasty, lots of flavours in that sauce range going on, it was really tricky to pick my favourite out of what I chose. The food was hot and fresh and the milkshakes were thick, icy and refreshing! I couldn't fault it whatsoever :) we also thought the Guinness book of records on the TVs made everyone get off their phones and actually interact with each...what a great idea! I'll definitely be adding it to my studio. I will definitely return when I visit Cardiff again
Matt G — Google review
So disappointed with Slims, come here for my lunch break sometimes 3 times a week because I’ve always said they’re the best tenders in town, always a decent size always cooked well, buffalo sauce is the only option I select in over 30 orders. Today I got 5 of the smaller tenders they could’ve found in the packet which for £8.95 was a bit of a joke, they were not as juicy at all, mostly dry and I’m never one for complaining about everything because 1 thing was wrong, person serving was lovely but even the sauce, I love buffalo and especially the slims one but nah this was awful, tasted like it’s been kept outback for years, just generally disappointed, I know I’ll be back because usually you guys are great and hopefully just an off day.

I’m sorry but if this company is employing people who say things like what I’ve heard I don’t even want to know what the managers are like. I hope something is done about there staff as I would not recommend going there. ES

Slim Chickens Review: A Wing Fling Gone Wrong My recent visit to Slim Chickens left me feeling disappointed, to say the least. I opted for the 8-piece wing meal, hoping for a flavorful and satisfying experience. Sadly, the wings were overwhelmingly salty, overpowering any other taste they might have had. This excessive saltiness made it impossible for me to finish the meal, leaving 4 wings behind. The accompanying toast was dry and lacked flavor; a simple addition of salted butter would have made a world of difference. The dips provided were also lackluster and did not enhance the meal in any way. Overall, my Slim Chickens experience was a major let-down. The overly salty wings, dry toast, and subpar dips left me feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. I would rate this meal a 2 out of 5 stars. There's room for improvement, and I hope Slim Chickens takes steps to address these issues to provide a more enjoyable dining experience.
K L — Google review
Went with a friend, for price the food was so expensive so was hoping for good taste. However, when opened the box we got met with the smallest tenders ever known to man, the box was not decently sized. Very expensive. However, food came quick and the milkshake was banging. However, selling such expensive foods, means that the quality has to be high and it wasnt today unfortunately. The size of the tenders were attrocious.
Ali S — Google review
Absolutely perfect, the order process was easy, the seating was nice, the staff were great and very respectful. Overall great experience, would definitely eat here again. Had 2x 7 Tender Meals + Go Large Fries + Bottomless Drink

me and my partner come here every week, usually the food is great, but the last few times we’ve been here the toast has been burnt and I don’t mean a little bit I mean the whole toast is BLACK they even turned it over so the burnt bit was on the bottom. it’s shocking that they would even serve that to customers. We asked for it to be replaced and we were brought back 2 pieces instead of the 6 we ordered. The girl who we spoke to about the food couldn’t seem to care less she was so rude.

Stopped off to get some quick "food" with my son after a day out on the evening of Fri 20 Sep 24. Decided to go here, rather than Macs across the road as we hadn't had KFC for a long time and used to enjoy. Ordered a wrap meal and a boneless banquet with extra piece of chicken...came to £23 which was a shock in itself as last time we came 18 months ago, the boneless banquet was approx. £7 not £10. Way more expensive than macs but doesn't bother me if the food is good quality however : Don't really need to describe the sorry state of food that greeted us when we opened it when we got home, take a look at the picture, SHOCKING! Half of it went in the bin. I would be surprised if this place is still open this time next year. Incidentally, it was dead quiet , whereas the macs across the road was packed...go figure! Feel sorry for the staff at front desk who tried their best. Update: As i cannot reply to the owner reply, i want to point out that judging by the previous reviews, this has been happening for a long time, and is not a one off. I have raised the complaint further and whilst doing so, i noticed the pricing i paid was different to the main KFC website page which stated £7.37? very strange?
Leon S — Google review
Took their sweet time preparing the food which is fine as I was hoping for it to be fresh. Got the side wrong with the order. I asked for drinks to be cold with ice. Too that too seriously as the rest of the food was just as cold as drink if not more, even though I took it out as soon as I left the drive thru. Ruined the whole appetite. Won't be visiting this branch ever again, unless I am in the mood of some Really cold chicken, or poorly seasoned fries. Wish I'd seen the reviews before coming here. Avoid avoid avoid.

Visited this KFC on Saturday 4/2/2023 at around 7pm with my wife and 13 year old granddaughter. We decided to eat in, 1st big mistake, ordered at the machine when payed there were no receipts. Picked up the food from counter with no thank you and a very unhappy server. What I think was the manager was laughing and joking with his staff while playing on his phone, food was in little bags which were torn and ripped. The place was a disgrace empty food containers and drinks cups left on table and floor amongst the rest of the food strewn everywhere. Thats a wonder that somebody doesn't catch some sort of disease, will never in a million years go back there again. The only good thing was the Ice cream hence the one star. Update: said I wouldn't go back to this KFC again, but after two years thought give it another try. Called in today 21/6/2025 at 17:15 and wish I hadn't, had a takeaway of a sharing boneless banquet for my wife and myself and boneless banquet for one for my granddaughter who is now 16. All together cost £35 got home and what a disappointing site to behold (I'm trying very hard to be polite) chicken over cooked so much that the coating was like chewing glass, crunchy and hard. I must say now I definitely WILL NOT EVER BE SETTING FOOT IN NANTGARW KFC AGAIN and that's my final answer.
Gwyn O — Google review
Would not recommend this place at all unless you like extremely slow service, food served luke warm at best, dry and flavourless chicken and missing items from your meal. Save yourself the disappointment and a huge waste of money and just go to the McDonald's opposite.

Very disappointed no napkins no forks table dirty had to ask for it to be cleaned before we could sit down I wasn't the only one asking neither loaded fries what a waste of money had about 6 fries got more sauce than fries I get that they were busy but when about 6/7 people who ordered after you get served first think the manager at nantgarw needs to rethink quality and service

I personally didn't enjoy the Hong Kong toast dessert. I didn't like the mix of cold ice cream with hot toast, and it was filled with peanuts, so I couldn't try it with the filling inside. The clams were okay. The stir-fried beef noodles were good; the flavour is strong. The shop isn't really big, so groups are preferably fewer than five people. The service was okay. What a great find by my partner! We went there to celebrate my partner’s mum’s birthday and what a great choice that was. The food was absolutely amazing and everything was done to perfection! I do recommend the king prawns in the black bean sauce and the duck in ginger and oyster sauce. Perhaps living in Cardiff for sooo long I grew complacent in thinking that there is not a lot that can so positively surprise me (or maybe this is the lack of going out events due to children😜🤣), but this is an absolute little gem of a place on the Cardiff’s “foody” map👍 Amazing food, great service and a very friendly owner. The restaurant Casablanca offers delectable and freshly prepared food. Their falafels are considered among the best. The ambiance is pleasant, although the seats could be a bit uncomfortable. One of their popular dishes is the lamb tagine, but the fish option is also delightful with tender potatoes, flaky fish, and bread to soak up all the flavors.
We recently held a festive meal for 55 people at Casablanca on City Road, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Zac and the team went above and beyond to make the evening a huge success. They were incredibly accommodating, catering to a wide range of dietary needs, including vegan, vegetarian, and meat options, as well as those with allergies. The portions were generous and absolutely delicious – every dish was bursting with flavor! The atmosphere was warm and joyous, with the friendly staff creating a welcoming environment and making sure everyone was well taken care of. Our staff team couldn’t stop raving about the experience, with many saying it was their favorite festive meal to date. A huge thank you to the team at Casablanca for making our night unforgettable. Highly recommend for any group gathering or celebration!

Went to try some moroccan food...Got seated right away without any booking...Great interiors and food was tasty...we had Lamb and chicken...Both were different in its own way... Service was OK...Not very expensive but not too cheap as well...Parking is difficult to find in front of the restaurant...we had to walk a bit...

I visited this place while on holiday in Cardiff. I have to say the food was amazing! Service was a bit slow but after having their food, all was forgiven. Had to go back the next day 😅
Jabed H — Google review
Great food! Lovely restaurant! Definitely book on a Friday and a Saturday, they get filled up quick, the atmosphere was nice, music was a little too loud for our liking! & The waiters just popped the food on the table without asking who's dish was who's but we would go back, it was really delicious!
Anna — Google review
The food was delicious and all freshly made. Probably one of the best falafels I’ve ever tried. The decor is nice, seats are a little uncomfy but nothing to moan about. The lamb tagine is one of the bestseller’sbut the fish one we tried was lovely, with tender potatoes, soft, flakey fish and bread to soak everything up. I would definitely recommend you have a look at the dessert selection they have at the front; all handmade and not overly sweet, perfect to finish off the meal.

Enjoyed an authentic mince meat and egg breakfast from here with a Moroccan tea, just as I remember having recently in Morocco. Tasted brilliant and the customer service was excellent 👌🏾

Popped in this evening, 4 of us (2 children) and had a wonderful meal! We had a mix of starters and mains and everything was delicious! Best hummus, vine leaves were tasty, salmon perfectly cooked. Can't fault anything and we are all looking forward to going back! Great value as well!

Ffwrnes Pizza is a delightful gem located in the vibrant Cardiff Central Market, where pizza lovers can indulge in authentic Neapolitan-style pies. This informal eatery stands out with its thin, crispy crusts and high-quality ingredients that create an unforgettable dining experience. While enjoying your meal, you might be tempted by nearby culinary offerings like Pierogis and Tukka Tuk's Indian street food.
After walking around Cardiff market and heading upstairs I stumbled upon this pizza place and there was no way I was walking past without giving one a go. I’m so glad that I did because what fantastic pizza! The pizza was cooked to perfection and full of flavour and all of the menu was reasonably priced. There was a long wait for the pizza to arrive and the extra topping I asked for the guy did make up a price on the spot at £4 which I thought was a little much. But overall I would recommend as it’s some of the best pizza around and it was also great to see this type of place situated in Cardiff market.
Daniel D — Google review
Saw it was the most highly rated pizza in Cardiff. Didn’t disappoint, it was genuinely the best pizza we’ve ever had. The dough was delicious as were the obviously quality ingredients. The soft drinks were great too - well sourced 10/10. Simple and just what we needed for a hearty lunch. Recommend 100%
Kate E — Google review
This pizza is fantastic - had the pepperoni and it was really good. The dough was really nice and both light and crisp. Great for a lunch pizza and worth every penny. Seating not the best but other than that 🙏👏🏼🤟🏼🤌🏼👌🏼✌🏼🫶🏼

Quality of the pizza is just amazing, fantastic value a margarita at 8 pound , I had a sobrasada it was delicious, great ingredients traditional cooking which you can taste, well recommended amazing how many people thanked the staff after eating, nice to see

Overall great fresh pizza cooked in a Woodford oven! Quality ingredients used gave the pizza beautiful fluffy crust with beautiful tomato sauce and fresh cheese. In my top 10 best pizzas! Definitely recommend it’s located in the market on 1st floor up the stairs. Price point excellent value £7 one pizza will feed one person 4 slices.
Jamez A — Google review
Just love the pizza! We were lucky to get the last piece when it was only 2pm. Those behind us in the queue were so disappointed.
Tm L — Google review
Such good prices for the quality of the pizzas. Really lovely staff and would highly recommend. It’s great for a quick eats and chilled atmosphere. Whole experience was made 10x better when my coffee only cost me £2 as I had a pizza.
Charlotte H — Google review
Easily one of the best pizza spots in Cardiff. The dough’s got the balance of a Olympic gymnast with the perfect amount of chew and crisp,The tomato sauce had more depth than a Scorsese film, and the mozzarella was smoother than Barry White. The pizza was made with care and attention and the staff were friendlier than your nan after two proseccos.

Ozzy's Sandwich Bar is a popular spot known for its delicious homemade sandwiches and hot roast baguettes. The welcoming ambiance and attentive staff make for a pleasant dining experience. Customers appreciate the wide range of fillings available, as well as the option to choose their bread. The friendly owners are passionate about good food and provide excellent service, making it a great choice for breakfast or lunch.
No matter how many gentrified cafes that open close by, this place stays a genuine and strong locals favorite. Queues most lunchtimes show how good it is. Work vans and students a plenty. The sort of place a “tik-tok” food reviewer would lose their mind over. Had the hot roast baguette on Tiger bread roll. Sourdough and normal baguette also available.
Pete S — Google review
Great sandwiches at a good price that just really hit the spot- my favourite is roast turkey with stuffing, gravy and mint sauce in a sourdough baguette. The owner is super friendly and helpful and the coffee is great, not sure what beans they use but it's really good quality and so smooth

Not our first time here and certainly won't be our last. 2 lovely ladies working giving a homely, atmosphere. They have a large menu and prices are extremely reasonable! Especially for the amount of fillings/salad you receive. For a full, fresh baguette this is your place! Highly recommend.

The best place to get lunch in cardiff! Warm hot and delicious one way to describe it would be home cooked goodness it’s lovely. Very accommodating towards dietary restrictions currently on a Keto diet and they are able to give a meat box which is outstanding. Would highly recommend the sourdough baguettes when not dieting home baked and excellent taste. The best bite in Cardiff you will not regret eating here.

The BEST wrap I have EVER tasted in my entire life! Wasn't sure about this place at first due the reviews I've heard but I will not regret ordering this! The delivery was faster than I thought it would be. The food was very hot and tasted as if it has just been cooked! The cans of coke tasted extremely fresh! Would defiantly recommend this place for wraps as I haven't tasted anything else. Love it!
Lauren D — Google review
This place is beyond disgusting the false advertisement on their chicken breast burger is unbelievable I’ll break it down for you according to them they use a “toasted sesame bun” the bun is wet soggy and literally could be found in a local supermarket. Furthermore they claim their chicken breast is coated in a ‘secret recipe breadcrumb’ that got me excited when ordering thinking it would be a crispy and gourmet style chick burger but as soon as I opened the box I was immediately disappointed as the burger was not only the size of my palm but the chicken used was a cheap frozen chicken they bought in bulk there was no special recipe at all and unbelievably their special mayonnaise was just good old plain mayonnaise you could buy from a Asda or Tesco. Moreover, the chicken wings are just frozen chicken that stay heated all day until they’re sold out , which god know how they could ever sell out on those wings they are disgusting, morbid, and grotesque. Would never recommend this place unless your intentionally trying to poison someone. This food is not suitable for any humans to eat, actually not any species in this world could eat such food. And lastly the peri peri fries, you probably already understand the theme here they were wet, soggy and plain despite the peri peri salt. I ignored the negative reviews here and thought I would give it a try anyways but do not be convinced by how the shop looks, this place is CHUM BUCKET in disguise I can literally see Plankton in the back coming up with ideas on how to create the worst possible food.
Mabrouk A — Google review
Great variety, great price, great quality. More than just your run of the mill fried chicken shop, much more choices than other places. Mango lime marinated grilled chicken on rice is particularly great. Fries aren’t soggy like other places. Best chicken in Cardiff!
Glenn O — Google review
One of the best places for delivery. Food is brought in very hot and well presented. I never had anything missing from the delivery. When it comes to delivery, it's important to make sure you are getting food which is well cooked and well packaged and I think chicken house gourmet delivery stands out in Cardiff
Writing R — Google review
Good tasty food (if you like chicken) and not too greasy. Guy who served us could be taught how to crack a smile, but still a good place to eat and great value for money. Not too sure what the spicy sauce is, but it's very nice!
Paul H — Google review
I wouldn't recommend there are much better take out places on the delivery service, but the food isn't as bad as some of these reviews are saying. please note that even though it says gourmet its just grilled chicken or fried chicken in a burger. if im honest i wont order from here again
Nas A — Google review
Tried them twice on just eat was not impressed at all despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews, also visited the place for burger meal and corn on the cob. The corn was very old and mush, its all very fancy presented but a shame that the food quality can't match it. Two stars for cleanliness, staff and decor.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Yans Fish Bar, located at 182 Whitchurch Rd in Cardiff, is a popular spot for fish and chips enthusiasts. Since 1969, this chip shop has been serving traditional fish and chips using the freshest locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant prides itself on its crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish, and deliciously satisfying chips. Customers rave about the fast service, generous portions, and high-quality food. Yans Fish Bar has garnered attention for its exceptional staff and welcoming atmosphere.
We had lovely fish and chips from here last night. The origin of the cod was up on a board, as well as the potato variety. Great range of soft drinks on offer. The batter was really crispy with moist fish inside. Good chips. The 'small' portions of chips were huge! All just wrapped in paper so there was very little waste.

This is the second time we have been to Yans for an early evening takeaway. Neither time has impressed. First visit - early 2024 - hubby had fish and chips. No major complaints, he rather enjoyed it. I ordered (and paid for) chicken curry with chips and rice (half and half). Got home to open my curry to find there was no chicken. Not a single piece - just rice and sauce with my chips separate. Gutted and highly irritated especially as I’d been charged handsomely for the chicken curry.. Second time - 28 Feb 25 @ 18.45 - I ordered a chicken burger and small chips. Hubby again had fish and chips. Got it all home. Batter on the fish was v thick and not cooked through. Chips were on the underside of being cooked. Very soggy. My chicken burger was a total disgrace. £4.25 for a soggy battered chicken fillet in a bun with a splodge of sauce. Advertised as all burgers coming with salad and crispy onions. Neither were present. It was the worst chicken burger I’ve bought in many many years.. total waste of £20. We live just too far away to get back into the car and take the food back after getting home. Tried calling a number of times to raise the issue but no answer. We won’t be back. Real shame as Yans came recommended but there’s clearly a quality control issue and standards are really low.

Stopped at this place around 9 in the evening on a Saturday night. The place was empty. I ordered a cod and chips off the rather limited menu. The cod was already in the fryer and the server said the chips had recently been fried - so should still have been hot. The cod was pretty good. Lovely crispy batter and flaky white fish. The chips were tepid. I hate it when I get served barely warm chips. Apart from wasting £3.50 on some unappetising chips that I didn't really want, the fish was just about worth it. Not the biggest piece of fish I've ever eaten but adequate. Sadly I'm not impressed enough to visit this place again. 3 stars for the fish but only 1 for the tepid chips.

Ordered Deliveroo to Heath. Arrived very quickly, well packaged and hot. Cod and chips was delicious, definitely lived up to the reviews. A very fine slab of fish, tasty and meaty as it should be. Will be our default chippie now.

A legendary fish and chip shop in Cardiff. Steve is a well known hero around Whitchurch Road. They always serve some mean food. I have gone to Yans 100+ times and I have never ever been disappointed.

Use to go there all the time in my younger days . My aunty lived In Africa gnds so when I visit and stayed there was In there regularly. Live to far away now so haven't been there for a long while . But intend to visit it again soon . The batter was to die for my favourite then was sausages and batter and chips . Loved the place. A young guy with a hair condition when I went there bit it was great food great service and clean place loved yans
