Being a South Indian, I wanted to try authentic Himachali food in Shimla. After going through multiple reviews and recommendations from friends, I decided to try their thali meals. The staff was very welcoming, cordial, and helpful. They even helped us in choosing the right thali. The food was really good and offered a unique taste. The place might find a bit tricky to find and might even seem small for a restaurant. But everything is neat and clean with a good ambience and lighting. Note: South Indians might find the rice and curries a bit different from what we’re used to, but it’s definitely worth a try for the experience.

Although DHAAM isn't that awesome as one can find it in villages, still one of the better places to enjoy authentic mandyali/kangri dham.

A very cozy and bright little cafe on mall road Shimla. It was 2 floors + a rooftop searing option. Their staff are very friendly and pleasant to talk to. Loved the service. Amazing experience at this cafe. We chose to have brunch two days in a row at this pretty cafe. Located bang in the middle of the mall road with a beautiful view of the town hall. Day one we had the English breakfast and savoury crepes. Both were outstanding. Day two was Mexican chicken and Nutella waffles. Again it was amazing! Staff is welcoming, the view is fantastic and food excellent!

While in Shimla, I was attracted to this restaurant, because of its name India Coffee House, a very famous joint in Bangalore. The coffee house is famous as a breeding place of several political & cultural personalities and movements. This one in Shimla is predominantly dominated by the locals and senior citizens’s meeting place. If you want to know anything about Shimla, its shops, important local joints etc, you can easily find the answer if you visit here and talk to any of the local groups on different tables. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed with the quality of the food served. Just one coffee is good enough to judge. The coffee was just pathetic, it was more of thin milk & water. One of the worst coffee that I ever had so far. And I found the place very unhygienic. After I sip, I left the coffee and got out since I could not tolerate the stink inside the restaurant and never entered again during my month long stay. Very disappointing experience !

A great restaurant with fabulous food, in the Mall road main Chowk, in the form of a cave. Govt run establishment, but they served us with love. We reached there around 9.45pm on 14th Sptember 2025 and were served hot, tasty food. The staff were really warm and friendly. The food was very reasonably priced and flavourful. We really enjoyed the dinner. Thank you and keep up the good service. Will gladly recommend this for visitors and would like to dine again during next visits to Shimla

It’s managed by Himachal Pradesh Tourism (HPTDC) and has been a favorite among both locals and tourists for many years. The restaurant is split into two levels – Goofa (underground) and Ashiana (upper level). The building itself is a beautiful British-era structure with arched windows and wooden interiors. The architecture and design give it a historic charm, and the views from the upper level are amazing — especially at sunset, when you can see the hills and rooftops of Shimla glowing in golden light. Only good thing was LUCCHI rest all was overhyped. They gave everything with chana which was simply bland to me. Yes they are iconic. Lucchi and chana was good with all the chutneys. Reaching them is easy just nearby to the Ridge and Church. But only Walking no vehicle allowed. Hygiene was far far away. Service was ok. Visit if you want to go to iconic places. Rest it's just normal.

A reasonably priced eatery at Lakkar bazaar famous for Chole and luchi. Food is excellent and cheap. Service is fast although seating is limited.

Tried their chole kulche and the taste was really good. Special mention to their khatti meethi chutney it added great flavor. The plate cost us ₹80 and the portion was good enough for two. The only concern was hygiene, the owner was serving everything with bare hands and using a single cloth to clean surfaces, which didn’t feel very clean. Taste-wise, it’s worth trying, but hygiene could be improved.

Serving the popular dish for the last six generations, this is arguably one of the best dhabas in Shimla......... this is the place in Shimla to have best Chole luchi..... just amazing ..... its the most tasty chole and aloo tikki in whole of shilmla ..... i repeated the order 3 times..... it has a typical sitting benches there is always rush so mostly people eat standing. it a small joint..... a legacy joint......

The food is a mix of various cuisines: Indian (mostly North Indian, with the occasional Himachali dish too, like sidu), Western (sandwiches, pastas, risottos and so on), and some perennial East Asian favourites. We had dinner here one day and tried the chicken noodle soup (East Asian style), the chicken pepper steak, and a fish and chips from the ‘Scooby’ menu, for children, for our daughter. All were pretty good. Since we were staying at the Cecil, our room tariff included a buffet breakfast at the Restaurant. While the items/sections on the buffet are the usual—cereals, fruit, cheeses and cold cuts, Western breakfast items, dosas/idlis/etc, parathas, and so on—the quality of pretty much everything on the buffet is excellent. Also, in a pleasant change from the usual, the eggs made to order don’t just include the more predictable omelettes and scrambles, but also more uncommon (but delicious) egg dishes, such as akuri, shakshouka, and Turkish-style eggs.

So like my every other ob experience, they always seem to be consistent and acing at the hospitality section ..no doubt. But what disappointed me was the food here. It was below avg esp for a star hotel like ob which surprised me because all our experiences with food have been well beyond wonderful with other OB destinations. ( u must try sukhvilas). I often order a Margherita pizza from places new to me as I consider it to be a litmus test. And Cecil failed miserably.😐 So if you are looking for a very very mediocre food wrapped up with great hospitality ..go for it! Pricing is obviously on the higher side but then its like every other star hotel. I would not book here again unless the food is improved.

A really nice bar if you like to enjoy your drinks without any loud music and too much crowd. This place mostly has one or two tables empty to host your gang. The food is decent enough, nothing spectacular. But the ambience is nice and they have most of the options readily available from their menu.

A place for average food for a sky-high price tag… not for all items in the menu, but most. We ordered the mutton biriyani. The price is ₹420. One would expect some decent-sized pieces of meat in the biriyani. But all i got were 3 very tiny pieces as small as a ping-pong ball. The rice was flavourful, but we were furious about the quantity of meat

The restaurant is located on the Mall Road. The place has moderate sitting space. The service was very prompt. We ordered chicken tender for starter, grilled chicken pizza and stuffed chicken with pepper sauce for main course. The food was very tasty though was a bit on the sweeter side. Staff were very polite and attentive.

45 The Central is a multicusine restaurant in Shimla, located in Mall Road. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes at an affordable rate. The dining experience here is further enhanced by the stunning ambience and the wonderful hospitality and service. Winters in Shimla are pretty cold and anybody would prefer something hot and spicy. The Bon-fire wings proved to be the right choice. The chicken was soft and simply melted in my mouth. It was very well grilled and the flavour was truly amazing. I also loved the Sole Fish Sizzler which was cooked to perfection. Another interesting dish I had here were the Hot Mocktails - Spiced Apple Cider and Mulled POM Citrus. They were indeed innovative and were perfect for the weather.

Food is great.Ambience goes well with its location on the Mall Road which on its own has a European elegance to it.The view from the window is spectacular.Tourists could try the place if you're craving for some non Indian food.The tomato shorba and lasagne are distinct from the other dishes available.Must try place in Shimla.

Ambience is nice small place but food is not that good in taste not good Chinese food they add chilly flakes and oregano in every food😂 whether it is Chinese food(garlice noodle)or mexican rice or their burger saucing is very bad cheese garlic bread was good and fries was ok.

It seems this place is going to close down next year due to some court case. If that is true, I'd strongly recommend that you try the yummy gulab jamuns before they shut down. Their gulab jamuns are simply the best I've had... Way better than Sindhis or Gopals of Chandigarh or Bikanervala/ Haldiram/ Nathus of Delhi. Maybe it's just a matter of taste and preference but they are definitely worth a try. I've been having them since the time each piece cost rs. 2.50. Today it's priced at Rs30 a piece but still worth it. I'm so gonna miss it! As for their restaurant and Fascination, I never liked them much.. Found it bit too crowded n dingy. The gulab jamun however is a must try. The 4 stars are just for that... Try other things at your own peril!

They serve the best gulab jamun ever . They are famous for there sweets and specially gulabjamuns (Rs 30 per gulabjamun) which is a bit costly but thhe taste is worth it and moreover you don't find anything cheap on mall road. They also have a resternt . Baljees Fascination is a very old sweet shop which is quite famous in shimla and a must visit.

This is an Old Family restaurant in the city heart. Famous for its Gulab Jamun's, its food quality is just falling below avaerage nowadays as it is about to shut somewhere in the mid of 2019. The interiors and ambience can make you feel a little bit stuffy. They serve nice tea though. Do visit for its Jaamun and tea before it shuts.

We had ordered Chilli chicken, Tanduri chicken, Fried rice, Tadka Daal, Roti, Chicken Kadhai etc. This place is not at good for food lovers. They have a general menu with inflated food prices and just an ok restaurant. The Tanduri was not full done. It was full of blood drops at leg tendon joints. The chilli chicken gravy was flat with lots of starch. The chilli chicken was not crispy fried and gravy was just like that. The washroom was not having water. At last, food was too expensive - food was not worth money we had paid.

Just opposite the Town Hall and off Shimla Mall. The small cafe has cozy sitting on the 1st floor overlooking the Town Hall. They serve bakery products, hot beverages and quick bites. We had cappuccino (₹160). Nice place to have a cuppa.

Hide out cafe is, afterall, known for its service more than its food but food is decent as well. We ordered White Sauce Pasta, Vegetable Garden Pizza, Veg Schezwan Noodles and in drinks Shirley Temple. Food was decent, good for the price.

A small but beautiful cafe situated very near to the Gaiety Theatre just opposite to the Municipal Town Hall serving mouth watering continental dishes.The dining area is a bit crammed and one should be careful while getting down from the stairs.Service is decent,staffs are courteous.All the items we have ordered were lovely.We had a great time.

I recently visited Hideout Cafe in Shimla and had a delightful experience, especially with their pastries. I tried the truffle, red velvet, and butterscotch pastries, and each was exceptionally delicious. The truffle pastry was rich and indulgent, the red velvet was perfectly moist, and the butterscotch had just the right amount of sweetness. However, the fruit pudding dessert fell short of expectations. Despite this, the overall ambiance of the cafe is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to relax. They offer a variety of cuisines, including North Indian, Chinese, and Italian, which I plan to try on my next visit. The staff deserves special mention for being very responsive and attentive. If you're in Shimla and looking for a sweet treat or a place with a warm atmosphere, Hideout Cafe is worth a visit.

I visited Hide Out Cafe at Mall Shimla, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The cafe's ambiance and location were promising, situated in the heart of Shimla's popular Mall area. However, when it came to the food, I was quite disappointed. They have wide food menu options but the food quality was far from impressive. I ordered pasta hoping for a satisfying meal, but it lacked any distinctive flavors. But I liked the coffee though. Moreover, the service was also quite slow. Additionally, the prices at this cafe were quite high compared to the quality of food and service provided. I expected better value for the money I spent, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. Moreover this place attracts the attention of many tourists but I didn't like it much .

I am from chandigarh and every time i visit shimla, i always visit this cafe for my coffee and truffle cravings. The owner is very polite and listens to you. The staff is also well trained for good customer behavior. My coffee expectations are always high and this cafe really understood my preference and worked accordingly. We went for the breakfast menu, they didn’t have the north Indian one available so I got the Eggs with sides(2/10) pale looking scrambled eggs, burnt sausages, weird hash browns with 2 slices of charred tomatoes. It didn’t even look appetising. We also ordered non veg club sandwich (worst 0/10). If I could use one word to describe it, it’d be disastrous. Thinnest slice of egg and the tiniest amount of chicken with burnt and bland fries which felt like they were cooked in extremely used oil. Service was mid (had to raise my hands for 3-5 mins for someone to notice and alert someone else). The place looks fine from the inside and has a nice street view but the food is insanely horrible and extremely overpriced for the quality offered. I do not recommend.

A bit pricey for type of cuisine and sophistication of the cook. Tasty oriental cuisine, but standard fare I have had at 50% the price at metros (Rs 250 instead of Rs 525). Ambiance is nice. Service was a bit lacking. Would have liked being served and provided water refills without having to ask for it.

We recently visited Embassy Cafe in Shimla and tried their Choco Crunch Softy, Rum Coffee, and Veg Biryani. The cafe itself is beautiful, with a charming and aesthetic ambiance that instantly draws you in. It’s run by a lovely local elderly couple, which adds a cozy, homely vibe to the experience. The food was good overall, but quite expensive. The Choco Crunch Softy was delightful and worth trying. The Rum Coffee, however, was quite bitter—perfect for those who enjoy the taste of alcohol but not for everyone. The Veg Biryani was average and didn’t quite meet our expectations. One highlight was the variety of homemade cakes they offer, which looked amazing and tasted even better. If you’re a dessert lover, this is definitely a place to indulge. Overall, while the ambiance and desserts are impressive, the pricing and some menu items could be better. I’d rate it a 3/5.

Title: Worst Experience Ever – Overpriced and Underwhelming! I recently visited Embassy Cafe, and it was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. We ordered a Chicken Tikka with Cheese Bread priced at a staggering ₹1200—and trust me, it was nowhere near worth it. The flavors were bland, the portion size was shockingly small, and the presentation was uninspired. To top it off, we decided to try their Apple and Walnut Cake with Ice Cream for ₹800 (and that's before taxes!). I expected something exceptional for that price, but what we got was a dry, unappetizing slice with a scoop of generic ice cream. Not even remotely satisfying. We also ordered a Veg Burger for ₹350—the smallest burger I’ve ever seen in my life. I genuinely thought it was a joke when they served it. No taste, no proper filling, just an overpriced piece of bread with a patty. The final blow was the Cold Coffee with Rum. Priced like a premium drink, it didn’t even have rum in it! It was basically cold coffee that tasted watered down and lifeless. To make matters worse, they don’t even accept card payments! At such an expensive place, this is completely unacceptable. I ended up spending ₹2800 for food that was utterly disappointing. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. Embassy Cafe is just overpriced hype with zero quality to back it up. Never going back.

The customer service is bad and even tho you would feel welcome at first, the owner who is pretty old generally tries to impose his choices on you. Never ask for recommendations here. The old lady who sits outside was also same. The bakery is quite average as compared to any other bakery on shimla mall road. Not a good experience, was charged so much for a chocolate cheesecake. They sell you 2 piece without even asking

It felt quite average to me, nothing extraordinary. It’s definitely overpriced. The strangest part was that the old lady at the counter doesn’t return any change—instead, she gives chocolates. I can understand if it's a matter of ₹5–7, but not having change for ₹10–20 is unusual for any shop. That was quite surprising. Then, when I ordered coffee and requested less sugar, she replied, “Our coffee already has less sugar.” But when I tasted it, it was sweeter than normal—exactly what I wanted to avoid. To be honest, the lady seemed a bit money-minded to me, like once the money comes in, she doesn’t want to give any of it back. Also, they don’t seem open to customizing anything. They serve the food as it is, with no consideration for customer preferences. Overall, I found it pretty average. The prices are comparable to Starbucks, but the taste is like any regular shop. I didn’t feel it was something you must try.

They had cheesecake but staff suggested chocolate cake instead without telling the price. We thought it will be similar price like cheesecake. Later found out they charged ₹670 for 4 small slices! That’s more than any cheesecake there. No menu was given so no way to cross check. Felt misled and overpriced.

We had eaten there some days before. This place is a little upside from the main road. Food was quite good in taste but the main thing is the price of the food items are very low and reasonable than the other places. You should try the juice of various flavors. Mutton momo is also very tasty here. Other items are also very famous there.

I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about Trishool Bakers, some people even call it overrated but as someone who usually doesn’t like sweets or cakes, I loved everything I tried here. The pastries were soft, fresh and just perfectly made. What made it even better was the vibe , warm, welcoming and full of smiles. The staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel like home. I’ve been here multiple times and every time I visit Mall Road, I can’t leave without stopping by for a pastry.

One of the iconic bakeries in Shimla. Their Chicken Paties, Mutton momo & Coffee is my all time favorite. You can also find confectionary items like pastry, cake, tiramisu. All items are reasonably priced. Accepts UPI. There is not much of a dedicated dining area but public sitting area is there and you cab enjoy your food there.

We visited this popular café for some light snacks. We tried the veg burger — the bun was soft, and the patty was delicious. For dessert, we had a chocolate brownie. The prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

After hearing Preity Zinta's recommendation, I visited Trishool Bakery on my first solo trip to Shimla. Located right in the heart of Mall Road, Shimla it's a charming, decades‑old bakery (since 1959) serving up both sweet indulgences and savory quick bites. I tried these items Chocolate Fudge – 5/5 : Rich, fudgy, and deeply satisfying. Veg Patty – 3/5 : Decent, but a bit hit‑or‑miss depending on freshness of veggies and masala. Spoonie – 5/5 : A nuts and chocolate delight—this is the must‑try! Also try their pastries which is amazing.

Don't fall for the Preity Zinta hype, their pastries aren't anything special. The bread of their regular pastries feel like dough, and their special almond pastry was something different. The icing tastes like made from real milk cream, it was good but nothing extraordinary or worth the hype, and nothing like anything which you wouldn't get in a bakery in your own city

I just can’t understand how people gave this place a five-star rating. The person working there has no manners when it comes to communication, the cake and pastry options are limited, and everything is overpriced and stale. There’s absolutely nothing good about it. I honestly think that anyone who visits or buys from here doesn’t truly understand what good food and service are, or maybe they’ve never had quality before. My experience with their apple and walnut pie was the worst I’ve ever had—it was dry, stale, and honestly, I’ve never tasted anything this bad in my life.

This cafe location is so beautiful! The view is stunning. There was only one person who took order and served and hence everything was too slow. The food was below average. As most of the dishes were not available we ordered pizza which was too bland and we couldn’t even finish it. The place has so much potential.

A little cafe just walk away from Jakku Temple. It has breathtaking view and food was decently good too. I had Kashmiri khawa which was nice and staff is polite too. You can visit here for the serenity and a good cup of coffee.

Well located in the ramparts of Jakhu Temple. Very friendly staff and prompt courteous service. We ate in: tomato cilantro, cream of tomato with croutons and hot and sour soup. Excellent flavorful and the latter perfectly crunchy. The idli sambhar was good. Music and ambience was very pleasant. Memorable for us.

Cafe Under the Tree is located near the mandir and has a very peaceful charm to it. The overall views from the seating area are really beautiful, making it a nice spot to sit back and relax for a while. The host was warm and welcoming, and the staff was polite and helpful, which added to the experience. We ordered a pizza, fries, cold coffee, and hot chocolate. While the presentation was decent, we found the taste of the food to be quite average compared to the ambience of the place. However, if you’re visiting mainly for the vibes, views, and a quiet setting, this café definitely delivers. With a little more focus on improving the food quality, it has the potential to become a fantastic all-round spot.

Giving two stars just because of the location, and the stunning views this cafe provides. Went here on a weekend, the place was completely empty, hence I got a little skeptical at first. Ordered a latte along with classic fries. Coffee was below average for the price, didn’t had any taste or whatsoever. Had to ask them to do it again. Fries were served without even salt, which was disappointing. You can definitely skip if you’re hungry!

A cute small bar cum restaurant on the mall road. Visited here after a week of trekking in the Himalayas to binge on some calories. Slightly on the pricier side but the food qty and service is good. A good place to also catchup with friends and spend an evening sipping beers sitting on the balcony

We ordered a vegetarian Lebanese platter. This came with hummus; beetroot hummus; baba ghanoush; mayonnaise; pita; a salad of chickpeas with tomato, onion and cucumber; and three items which had a distinctively East Asian flavour to them: skewered grilled mushrooms in a soy sauce glaze; something very like sesame toast but with a vegetarian filling, and another crunchy vegetarian ball with a sweet-sour glaze. These weren’t horrible, but they were certainly not what we expected in a Lebanese platter. Also, service staff were inattentive. We accidentally spilled a drink on our table, and had to mop it up as best as we could with paper napkins because the waiters were too busy watching a cricket match on the TV!

Amazing food! Especially their pizzas were so fresh and delicious. They make hand beaten dalgona coffee which is also one of a kind! We loved that we could get our pet and sit on their terrace and enjoy a beautiful view. Also have to compliment their song selection, it really set the vibe for us🤍

Cafe Mitti is a cozy beautiful pure veg cafe nestled in Kasauli. It is worth the hype and serves delicious variety of food. We tried Thukpa, Momos, Pancakes, Hummus & Pita Wrap, Lebanese sandwich, French toast. Everything was great but believe you me their Hand beaten coffee is a must try! Limited indoor & outdoor seating option is there. Prices are pocket friendly. This is one of the most beautiful cafes in and around Kasauli, famous not only for its food but for the views. It's not a big cafe but it has aesthetic vibes. Food is really delicious, especially their pizzas. They have breathtaking views of the hills. Service is not super quick, and no one is complaining :). Overall, a must visit in Kasauli.

We went there for a breakfast with family and I’d say it was worth the drive. We ordered pizza, kathi roll, grilled sandwiches, cappuccino, cold coffee and I would say everything was delicious. Overhyped and over priced. Only the view is something good. They use frozen stuff. Instead of butter the bread was soaked in sort of vegetable oil. Food was ok and drink was very basic too.!

Cafe mitti is so beautiful. Its small but has both outside and inside sitting. The cafe mitti special pizza is so tasty that it fails the domino's. The pasta is also tasty. The maggi though here is a must try and that too is cheesy Maggie. The taste, the flavor is so top and it fits perfectly with the view. The music in back, the view in front, the wind. Best combination.

Mitti has a fab atmosphere! Couple the breathtaking valley view along with the hot chocolate, steaming momos and you've got a winner. You can spend hours there with some good company or a book. If you are driving, parking is on the roadside on the narrow hilly road.

Embassy ice cream is the best ice cream parlour on the mall road and a must try. They have plenty ice cream options but the chocolate ice cream cone seems to be their best seller. Price is quite reasonable.

Best and old Ice cream shop located on Mall Road Shimla. Their choco crunch softy is realy nice, the taste and thickness of the ice cream is too good. Their Sundays also very nice. They also have other bakery and snack items. I have not tried it, but you can definitely try. Must visit ice cream shop, if you are in Shimla.

The ice creams are above average, but their choco-crunchy cone (Rs 80) is the highlight. A little crunchy and chocolaty on the outside and creamy softy on the inside is my favourite.

A tiny place in the bustling mall road street with amazing pan asian cuisine. We were tired of North Indian food and wanted to have something else so we decided to come here. We had the Thukpa, mushroom bao, honey chilli potato, vegetable tempura sushi and Thai curry with rice. Everything was really nice and the service was good too, polite and kind staff. Would definitely recommend this place! Couldn't take more pictures cause we hogged up the food too quick.

Food- The chole bhature and lassi taste awesome. These serve pickle and two chutney with chole so definetly add these two chutney in chole to make them more delicious. One should definitely visit this place when in shimla.

Food is too below average, especially Cholle Bhature & Dahi Bhalle! The attitude of the owner is equally on the higher side. Not recommended at all.

We tried samosa chat, dahi bhalla and sweet lassi. Chat and dahi bhalla was nice. I didn't like lassi as it was very liquid. You get authentic feeling earing here. One tip: they offer half plate for most of the dishes which is nice. Full plate chaat could be too much if you are not eating in group or not too hungry.

This is a highly overrated restaurant. In the peak time there's waiting for dine in but it is totally not worth it. We ordered paneer tikka which was decent, also chicken tikka first time was okay, but the second time we ordered it was all dry, and felt like it had been roasted many times . Seating and atmosphere feels like a 70s bhojanalay and badly needs renovation.

Wow, what an experience at a prime location like Shimla Mall Road, and in return, you get a free strand of hair with your food! Hygiene clearly isn’t part of the menu here. And the cherry on top? No bill was given, as if we were being done a favor. For a place in such a prime tourist spot, the standards are laughably low. Truly unforgettable—for all the wrong reasons.

Stopped by this cozy little momos shop during my trip to Shimla, and it did not disappoint! Nestled in one of the lanes near Mall Road, the place has a relaxed vibe with a few tables. I tried the steamed chicken momos and mutton momos and the tandoori paneer momos — both were delicious. The chicken filling was juicy and well-seasoned, and the tandoori momos had that perfect smoky flavor with just the right amount of spice. The chutneys were spicy and full of flavor, especially the red garlic one. Service was quick and the staff was polite. Prices are super reasonable for the quality and portion size, which makes it a great stop for a snack or light meal. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the seating area is a bit cramped during peak hours, and the fried momos were slightly oily. But honestly, the taste made up for it. If you're in Shimla and craving something hot and satisfying, this spot is definitely worth a visit!

Their pork ribs are the best pork I ever had in India. It was so juicy & tender and the sauce was so tasty. Their momos is also very good. I think it's my absolute favourite place in Shimla. The ambience. The food. The service. So so good. I think I spent around 6 hours here today. Vijay Kumar and Rajendra Kumar, the Sood brothers, selling mouth-watering pickles and chutney today at Thakur Bhrata completing 83 years of its existence, support the saying and confirm that favourites with the British was sweet and sour chutney, less-soured brinjal pickle and mango kasaundi (a grated pickle). Thakur Das (9), a primary class pass small boy, left his Paragpur village in Kangra in 1911 to work at Dagshai, but greener pastures in Shimla attracted him here in 1917 to serve in a general merchandise shop at the central Lower Bazaar on Rs 5 per month. He gathered courage to hire a shop on the east end of Lower Bazaar from owner Mangat Ram on May 3, 1925, where he started selling Lahore-made pickles. When his brother Prithvi Chand, working for a clothier, joined him in 1927, they became Thakur Bhrata and started making pickling at home. They made pickles and chutneys in the old-fashioned way, following ancient traditions, being respected even today. The vegetables or raw mangoes for pickling are washed and left to dry in the sun completely as slight water develops moulds in the pickle. Smothering with salt, another bout of sunning, spicing, stuffing in crocks, giving the required mustard oil-dip and finally the pickle is left to mature. The preparation is given a swish with a wooden ladle repeatedly. When ready, the pickle is kept for sale on shelves in the shop in attractive looking, big rectangular jars made of thick glass. These jars have a historical value as these are the outer covers of Leclanche cells used in Shimla for electrification prior to and even after the functioning of Chaba hydroelectric station in 1913. Lala Thakur Das purchased 22 of these jars from a kabari for a rupee and-a-half each in 1925. The USP (unique selling point) for Thakur Bhrata since then has been the use of the finest quality of spices, the purest oil and the fresh vegetables and this home-made mouth-watering achaar and chutney sells like ‘hot cakes’. Thakur Bhrata has established itself as an institution of quality products in Shimla attracting many a customer from the hills and plains alike. The, Wife of the first Indian Governor of Punjab, Sir Chandu Lal Madhav Lal Trivedi, used to personally visit the shop for purchasing pickles of her choice, also Bhim Sen Sachhar, the Chief Minister of Punjab (1952-56). The ever-young Dev Anand, on his visit to Shimla and stay at Clarke’s Hotel, used to get the pickle and honey picked from Thakur Bhrata. They had started selling ayurvedic products of Gurukul, Haridwar, since 1935. This is the only addition that the Soods have made in their old shop. They had acquired it in 1985. Vijay, an educated gentleman and Rajendra, a metallurgical engineer from BHU, had left their lucrative jobs to join the family business in 1972. Tailpiece Both Lala Thakur Dass and Prithvi Chand, on the call of Lala Lajpat Rai, wore khadi apparel only. They did it lifelong. On the death of Thakur Dass in 1994, his sons brought the usual long-cloth to drape the dead body. Their uncle arriving from the village said, “How could my brother, who wore Khadi the whole life, perform his last journey in long-cloth?” The proceedings were stopped and all waited till Khadi Bhandar opened and the body was draped in khadi for performing the last rites. Much recommended place for breakfast in shimla. Just go to scandal point and walk towards the Mall Road, you will see it straight on your right downstairs. There are some tikki (potato bites) and chole bhature (Fried breads with chickpeas) shops too on those stairs. You will always see it crowded. Service is very fast.There are pakoras , samosas, sweets like Gulab Jamun. Had awesome parathas (Stuffed breads), Chai (Tea) and Lassi (ButterMilk). Mix paratha (Stuffed bread with potato, onion, cabbage etc.) is the best among all. Special Chai (Tea) is too good with only milk. Sweet Lassi (Buttermilk) is the best thing to have with paranthas. P.S - You can also get parathas and other items packed. We got us packed some lassi and poured it in our water bottles and enjoyed it all day.

Visited Negi Dhaba with high hopes, but the experience was very disappointing. We ordered chicken chowmein, which turned out to be a complete letdown – the chicken tasted stale, and the noodles were all broken and lacked flavor. Honestly, a roadside thela would serve better chowmein, especially considering the price they charged. We also ordered ginger lemon honey tea, which was supposed to be a comforting drink but ended up tasting like plain hot water – no hint of ginger, lemon, or honey in it. To top it off, the water glasses/tumblers provided had a terrible stench, which made the overall hygiene questionable. The only thing that was passable was the chole samosa – not great, just okay – though that could be because it was compared to the other two dishes which were practically inedible. We left more than 80% of the food untouched. Wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’re absolutely out of options

Situated almost at Narkandas business centre, we liked everything about this place with a nice view from the restaurant, clean environs, quick service and good tasting north Indian food i.e. butter chicken and tandoor rotis. Parking is a little difficult to find but available as your drive by.

This place is only solace for the travellers which is slightly better placed than other joints in Narkanda market. Hence the attitude and approach of the Management. Food is just OK. Nothing to rave about. Indeed the samosa in the near by joint is fresh, hot and delicious. Service: is truly pathetic. Staff is courteous and warm. But only one old gentleman is too stretched to service the many a customers. No timely availability of water/ order taking or serving. Prices are double for the similar items in the nearby small joints in the market Prices are exclusive of GST; instead it should be inclusive of GST Sometimes even the bills are not provided!! Overall just passable due to limited options. Else just avoid

Amazing food place on the NH 5 (Old NH22) Hussainiwala - Shipki La Highway. It's the best stop for food located in Main Bazaar, Narkanda. One can have great views of higher snow clad Himalayas & green middle Himalayas while eating their food. Must try their sandwiches, noodles, cold coffee, North Indian main course & other food items as well.

A clean kitchen, delicious food, and a scenic window view are all great features of this place. However, the service is a bit slow, and parking can be a problem.

This place is just awesome. Located on the main road in in main market. Seating is very comfortable. You can enjoy the breathtaking views of magnificent Himalaya snow mountain range from the window while sipping your coffee. Tandoori paneer paratha was yummy. Butter chicken and tea was also good. Service is prompt. Staff is very friendly and professional.

If you have no appetite and want to enjoy the atmosphere, order here. You will become hungry by the time they serve you food. Come here beforehand you get hungry or walking away will be a better option than eating here.

One or the best places to eat in Sanjauli. Quiet and quaint joint with really nice food and views. Trout is definitely recommended to try out if you like seafood. Excellent pizzas as well. They open a little late around 12 so don't keep it as a breakfast option.

The chef's at Sanjauli are coming up a storm. Couldn't believe the quality of food being served at the corner cafe, so unexpected it blew our mind. Loved the ambience and atmosphere at the place with their all wooden interiors and the amazing view through the balcony. Whenever you are in Shimla make sure to visit the corner cafe without fail, you won't regret it. We were staying in Naldera and stopped here while traveling, it was by far the best food I've had in the hills, there is nothing to compare it to. Head chef Gunjit is there everyday and makes sure you are enjoying your meal. Amazing service, nice place to chill in the evening with the beautiful view of the city. The best place for dinner in the area for sure.

Pleasantly surprised as I have tried pastas and pizzas in many good places in Shimla and was not able to find a tasty meal. Food is yummy and the server was very polite. The portion was good and the price is also worth it. I feel that the menu can be improved a little bit more with time by having more options. I would definitely visit again and would also recommend it to friends and family. Keep up the good job guys 😊

2 stars is for the ambience and its location,rest 1 star is for the food .We ordered grilled trout, chicken momos, Kathi roll and Afghani chicken Tikka out of which nothing was upto the mark or worth the money . The outer layer of momos was too heavy n lil chicken inside ,the stuffing for Kathi roll was too sweet ,fish was a disaster as it wasn't either fresh or grilled properly ..in chicken Tikka again the tandoor part was a big issue as from inside the chicken wasn't cooked properly ,paid 1431 for the whole order which was a big disappointment

Recently ordered from the Corner Cafe and the food was absolutely Delicious ! You should definitely try their Pizzas and Chilly Paneer along with Hakka Noodles. Their Cheesecake and Pudding were delicious as well. Personally I didn't enjoy the Pastas much but apart from that the food was yum. I had ordered delivery so the packaging was sturdy and spill proof. The price point is slightly expensive but it's met equal with the portion size they offer. In all a Great Experience and a Must Try in Shimla Hills .

As far as Sony Dhabha is concerned as this place requires no introduction, it is quite famous among the tourist and as well as the travellers and also with the locals. the location is in the market of Chail, and there can be a little bit issue of the parking, but overall things can be Managed. The place is quite simple and the setting is basic, but the services are very good and the food quality is very good. Cleanliness is like kind of okay, but the persons or the staff or Family whosever is working there they are doing quite nice as the food is quite fresh and tasty as well and it is actually famous for the food and the himachani Thali is quite nice and the Sweet dish shakar parathe is yummy actually very much preferable. It is a place for the value meals and it is not too much costly, it is kind of a like a moderate cost so the overall experience is very very nice and I would like to recommend all the travellers who are and as well as tourist to going there must-visit the dhaba as we must support the locals !!!!

A very good place to have authentic himachal food,I had been for lunch with my family on my way back from Kali Tibba. They have a seperate kitchen in one shop and restaurant in next shop. We had a thali consisting of Tawa roti,aloogobi,Pakoda curry,rajma,chole,pickle,salad,rice & Meethi roti. Believe me the food was so tasty & non oily.It was totally homely food. Meethi roti was made of jaggery & pure ghee.out of this world. We were 3 pax & I paid total 600/ Rs for unlimited food. Very simple & loving people. Don't miss.

No Cleanliness! The floors and furniture were not clean . Unsure about cleanliness of vessels. Highly congested and little area even for waiters to move for serving food. Food was oily and spicy. Two of us were suggested thali…Thali had 6 items - , kadhi, daal , paneer veg, mix veg, rajma, raita in katoris with chapatis and rice . We could eat only rajma and kadhi . Charge for both thali was ₹ 500/- seems expensive for dhaba for this type of food . Not worthy of visiting . Can’t understand why local taxi drivers recommend this eatery

Home made food in a local hotel. One of the best that i eat ever. Taken there by a good professional friend. Awesome experience. Almost all guided tourist taken there by guide. Ghee roti directly from Chula is unimaginably great. Old traditional style Rajma, Paneer, raita, mix veg taste external great. Highly recommended to go there. Problem is only parking that is also duirng the peak tourist season. Just ahaaa!!!! Cheap and best. Nothing could be better then this placenin local chail side. Few km early than Chail.

Super tasty vegetarian thali. Aunty and uncle were so warm and welcoming. The shop always remains crowded during the lunch hour. Before it was 200 per person but now the price rose to 250 per person. But you won't regret paying the amount after having it. The thali includes paneer curry, a fry item, dal tadka, chole, kadhi, salad, chapati, rice and dessert as well. All the items were freshly prepared and were served steaming hot. Also, every item was loaded with pure Desi ghee, but still was so light and filling. You must try if you visit Chail village in Himachal Pradesh.

In my whole shimla trip the best food I had here. Everything is soo tasty. If you avoide the ambiance you will surely love the taste of the food. The cherry on top is the meethi roti they serve you after you meal. I also loved Kadhi. The taste of ghee is awesome. If you are on that road or nearby ill suggest you to sit there and have your meal. PS. - I loved that roti. You will love it too.

An age old eatery serving the best Triple Treasure, Gravy Noodles and Chicken momos. This place belongs to a third generation Chinese family who have adapted to the Indian fusion beautifully. Love this place.

Aunty's Chinese Food is a small old indo-chinese food joint located in Middle Bazar in Shimla. The location could be a bit tricky to find, but locals are helpful and so is Google maps. I ordered a plate of Veg Momo, Veg Fried Momo and Veg Chowmein. The portions are good enough for 2 people and the momo tasted simple, hearty and delicious. The fried momo were exceptional for me as anything fried just tastes even better ! However the Chowmein was not cooked properly and the noodles were chewy due to not being boiled properly. However upon request, the server was kind enough to get it replaced but i couldn't notice much difference. One more thing I personally like was the availability of soft drinks in glass bottles, a thing of nostalgia for sure. The price point is quite economical and a good meal can be enjoyed under 500 rupees. The space is tiny, has 5 tables and sometimes there is a waiting line due to lack of space. Overall a good old spot in Shimla that too on the Mall road. Simple, cheap and filling. Definitely can be tried while visiting Shimla.

One of the finest little places to enjoy some Indo-Chinese cuisines in Shimla. Prices are decent and food is also good enough. Don't visit at peak hours as there's waiting for the 4-5 tables that they have in the name of seating.

This is a small places tucked in the corner. We went for a late night munch. A little difficult to find, this place is near Domino's Pizza. The food is ok. We had the momo and the chowmin. Nothing special about it. Tasted similar to numerous Street food outlets on the Mall road.

Lovely food but tiny tiny place so that wait for a seat is quite long. We had the fried and steamed veg monos and the egg chopsuey and all of it was lovely.

The place is past its glory. The Aunty running the place is no longer there, even though her picture hangs in place, reminding us of flavorful, delicious chowmin that we used to have once upon a time. We ordered three veg noodles, one momo, four manchow soups and a veg thukpa for four adults and three kids. The food quantity was good and it is good value for money. However, everything lacked the flavour that we once used to have.

If you have tasted Delhi's street chaat then you will surely hate this chaat 😂 because I love chaat and I thought of trying from this specific place coz it's a very old shop in Shimla and the experience was really bad. Please do not try the chaat maybe you can go ahead with something else from this shop but I was really disappointed with the chaat. I will rate it as 3/10

It was a great place to have breakfast and lunch, The place was very clean and positive, The staff were attentive and professional, the owner was also very attentive. I tried all types of parathas except muli paratha, they all were tasty and fresh. The only thing I didn't like was tea, I had ordered 2 cups 20 rs each.

Once it was my favourite for years but now a days after lockdown food quality very poor,I mean not even eatable.They don't keep tissue papers,they don't have mishri after taking food instead they have kept cheeni 😊 Very poor quality Aata being used.Not at all a hygienic place.

Average Restaurant. Restaurant is on way to Kufri from Shimla. For breakfast aloo pranthas were tasty, but pranthas were very oily. Coffee was tasty there. Bread butter jam was a bit costly. Prantha prices was very reasonable. You can get prantha in 30 rupees only. For Lunch almost everything is available in veg. On affordable price with sufficient quantity. Soup was also tasty there. If you ask them to 1/2 then, they will charge 20 rupee extra for that. Bathroom is available out of the restaurant.

The restaurant is not recommended if hygiene is your main concern. The service trays were too dirty, onion peel was stuck on the water glass and there weren't any paper tissues on the table though they sent some with the order. As well as the plates they seem too old to be used. You might wonder what they have been up to in the kitchen if you see all this on the table. Food was okayish.

I recommend all of you dont order anything from this outlet.....today i ordered two burgers....one pizza and masala fries.....except burger all are good but i didnt understand that they are using burger bases on both of the sides in burger.....and the burgers are burnt and smelling😣 ...totally disappointed.🤮

It is a place in Sanjauli, the only pizza stop in the place but personally I didn't like their pizza at all, it was just not good in taste and the price are same almost as of Dominos. So according to me it's better to go to Dominos

They also deliver to near by areas of Sanjauli. This is situated in main market of Sanjauli near to Shopper's store and opposite to Ashiana sweets.

Above average place for those quick bites & sweets. Location is very convenient with parking space for 3-4 vehicles. Food is also average, nothing too remarkable that one would like to visit again and again for. Preferred for takeways, but they never home-deliver irrespective of the quantity ordered.

I really enjoy the baked goods from the bakery section.. the prices are affordable and the food items are good and fresh always .. never have I had a bad experience here.. I have been visiting this place since I was in school.. we used to eat here everyday before heading home after our tuitions..

Sweets good But while visiting the shop the customers have no choice to park their cars on roads instead of the front shop space designated by the shop management as what they claim because whenever I visit , always I see three or four vehicles parked in the area despite no customers in the shop. So I advice all car owners wishing to purchase sweets should go on foot to the shop.

First of all, they have the best quality of sweets. Always fresh. Not much space for sitting. But snacks section is not as good. Except chaat and related items, most of the items have same taste, no matter the name. Snacks have a big loaf of bread and a thin topping. Otherwise best places for sweets, pastries and icecreams.

There is nothing not to love about this place. All the sweets are scrumptious and it's a one stop shop for gol gappe/papdi chat/aloo tikki besides the other section that offers fast foods like Pizza, Lasagna, Patties and baked goods(eggless).

Must try Himachali siddu dish here. Milf tea was also tasty at this shop.

Absolutely Terrible Experience – Avoid This Place! If I could give zero stars, I would. The food was awful—completely tasteless and clearly made without any care. But what made things even worse was the atrocious service. We were the only customers in the entire restaurant, and yet the waiter blatantly ignored us. We called her multiple times—she walked right past us without even acknowledging we were there. It was beyond disrespectful. In the end, we had to walk up to her or even to the kitchen just to place our order. I have never experienced such rudeness and neglect in any restaurant. This place has no business serving customers if that’s how they treat them. Stay far, far away.

The quality has gone down drastically after the renovation. The staff is no longer interested in attending to the customers and are really slow with the service. The food quality has deteriorated drastically.

A decent place... With good food options... Place gives you a good panoramic view of mountains.. good ambiance... Ordered sizzler and honestly at such price it was quite nice... Should add more option to it. Pasta was also nice and quantity was good according to the pricing. Little work is required on hot drinks.. Rest would recommend the place for having good food and spending some good quality time with friends and family. Just the usually parking issue as is the case with most places in the city

A good place to visit with your friends, family or office colleagues. Pretty spacious, with ample sitting space and well behaved staff. The location is also very convenient. The restaurant is a very warm and ambient place with above average food quality. The menu has a wide range to select from. Although, the quality & taste of food could be improved.

The worse ever experience with them. They font care about there customers. I visited them past week and the order was taken by their waiter arround an hour ago. Despite multiple request we got our food after 2 hours of waiting time. If you will ask them to get it done faster they would say that they can not. They really don't value the time of there customers. The service boy don't even serve properly and just to finish there work they can spoil your clothes while serving.

Services are way too slow and price is not worth according to the food they serve..costly, no good taste and time consuming !.

I recently ordered from New Diamond for Food, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The food quality was far below expectations. The dishes lacked freshness, and some items tasted stale as if they had been prepared hours earlier. The flavors were bland, and the overall presentation was unappealing. To make matters worse, the ingredients didn't seem to be of good quality, leaving me questioning the restaurant's commitment to serving fresh and tasty food. I had high hopes based on some reviews, but this order was a letdown. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience.

I visited this place for a meal and wanted to share a few key points before you consider dining here: The staff seemed preoccupied and didn’t bother to welcome us, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Our order of three items took an unreasonably long time to arrive. I even had to get up and ask about the second dish, as there was no update. The garlic bread was disappointing—just plain bread with a layer of raw garlic and cheese. It hardly seemed worth ₹50, yet they charged ₹190. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Beware of these thieves! Ordered food through Swiggy, but most of the items were missing. They charged me in full and never bothered to send the missing food. The packaging was damaged, and what little I received was in a pathetic state. Even after raising a complaint with Swiggy, there was no resolution. Fraud restaurant with zero accountability! Avoid at all costs unless you want to be scammed.

This was my first time in Sanjauli and my friend recommended me this place for having a meal. It is at the main chownk of Sanjauli and easy to locate. I went there with my family for evening snacks. So, about the restaurant, it is quite good. The ambiance is relatively nice and sitting area is also clean. There are plenty of variety of sweets and cakes. About the Menu, there is enough variety available. I ordered a schezwan chowmien, which had abundance of salt. Along with that, I ordered a Masala Dosa, which was good, but the best among all was Tandori Momos. It was exceptionally good and I do recommend that. One disappointment is that Tea and Coffee was not upto the mark, rest everything is good. Overall, I do recommend this place. Washrooms are clean and staff is also polite.

Fantastic Service!! I have been there quite a while back. The administration is Good, Food quality is Good. It is simply bordered at Sanjauli Chowk just scarcely any means down to reach there. The spot is perfect and caring people groups you can yet sweet and yummy cake for your event.

Great place to dine in and take away. Good ambience and polite staff. You will get delicious food here. Some of their notable dishes are Cheese Naan/Garevi, soya Chap Platter. Sweet gravy paneer & mushroom dishes have a unique mild flavour and are recommended as well. They also deliver to most parts in the city, if requested. They do also have a wide variety of sweets and eatable gifting options available. Update: Food Taste has reduced to a fairly average level.
