Farmers Markets
Mercado do Livramento is a covered market in Setubal, offering a wide variety of goods including meat, fish, bread, and fruit. The 19th-century institution is known for its life-size statues of vendors and impressive tile murals depicting the area's agricultural heritage. This Art Deco market hall features neat marble rows accommodating numerous vendors selling fruits, vegetables, dried goods, baked items, dairy products, meat, and seafood.
I love this place! Each Saturday we travel there for food shopping from Lisbon. A lot variations of fish and seafood under good price, good meat choice, farmers vegetables, fruits, eggs as well. Many sellers accept cashless payments. Also you can find traditional Portuguese sweets and local deserts there. Even buy flowers. Near Pingo Doce, where you can buy more basic things. In case you shopping in supermarket - parking is free.

This open air fish and produce market (primarily) was an amazing experience. It was a definite example of sustainable living.
Jeri T — Google review
Best fish market I’ve ever been to. Quite an incredible experience!! It’s a must-go for any visitor to the city
Robert H — Google review
Excellent market with huge variety of fish & crustaceans as well as fruits & vegetables, meats, breads and cakes. Highly recommended for a lively experience of a market appreciated not only by tourists but more importantly by local residents.
Patrizia — Google review
Absolutely one of the best markets to visit. Incredible fresh fruit and vegetables, plus the the most fresh fishery to buy anything you desire. You can also enjoy some fresh oysters and drink wine while at the market.
Miguel C — Google review
Loved this market...didn't know what expect but pleasantly surprised..ended up walking up and down ...marvelling at the produce and deciding what to buy 🤔 loved the statues that tell the story of the market history... ( some videos have strobe effect)

Restaurant
Casa Santiago - O Rei Do Choco Frito is a relaxed eatery with a cozy ambiance and rustic wooden ceilings. It offers delicious fried cuttlefish, a renowned dish in Setubal. Situated on the docks by the ocean, this restaurant stands out among others specializing in Choco Frito (fried squid). Known as the King of Choco Frito, it consistently draws long queues of eager diners.
One of the best experience ever in my life ***** Great food, amazing food, very good atmosphere Speckless…. Recommend
Nuno D — Google review
Well worth the hype. This place is sooo busy but the staff still remains gracious. The cuttlefish is a really nice, chewy but meaty texture. Paired with the salad and fries was really delicious. I recommend this place.
Zehra K — Google review
"The King of Fried Cuttlefish"! That's literally the name of this restaurant and i believe they live up to it. While i was going out and about in Setúbal after a work appointment, i couldn't pass the chance of stopping by for some traditional fried cuttlefish, a dish who came to be one of the cities main attractions. Casa Santiago was the best rated restaurant within the area i was located and i went in without hesitation. Arrived early (around 12am) and i'm glad i did, because shortly after people started lining up outside hoping to get a table. I was promptly presented with the menu even though the choice was obvious and previously established, something i believe the employees are well aware of. The food was delicious. The cuttlefish was cooked to perfection, well seasoned, with the right chewy texture, the fries were reminiscent of those home fried fries my grandmother used to make and frankly it really hit the spot. Washed it up with some 7Up for a change as i always prefered "white sodas" to go with fish. The desserts are somewhat basic, so i went with some Ben&Jerry's which is utterly overpriced, to be frank. I was served by the same lady throughout my time there and she was very professional and attentive. Don't be surprised if they start to fasten the pace of coming to your table asking if you need anything when you're finishing your meal. Without being impolite, they know how to prompt you to finish as they desperatly need tables for the new costumers. It's all good. Certified "must stop" for everyone!
David M — Google review
The best choco frito ever. First visit on 2017, second 2019 and now 2025...still the same taste...amazing😁
Grzegorz B — Google review
Quick service and an attentive waiter. The space is traditional, spacious, and well-lit. We had the Choco Frito and veal steak, both were excellent (fish slightly better). For dessert, we tried the Doce de Bolacha, a biscuit dessert crushed and blended with cream. It’s tasty. Prices are reasonable, offering great value for money.
Joao S — Google review
This restaurant is great. My friend brought me here. We arrived at 19:00 on Monday afternoon. Some people were already seated, but there were still some empty seats. Later, all seats were full. You should know that this is Monday, not Friday night, which shows that many people like this place. Next, let's talk about the food. The choco frito is delicious. I was so hungry that I kept eating it. The portion of his dishes is very large. For the two of us, we were very full after eating a large choco set meal. But I have to say that if you keep eating choco, you will get a little greasy in the end because it is fried. I suggest you order some other dishes to go with it. Although the decoration is not luxurious, I suggest sitting outside to eat so that you can see some scenery of the pier. It's a very good restaurant. I will recommend it to my friends, and the price is very affordable.
Gaia L — Google review
My favorite spot every time I visit Setúbal! Casa Santiago serves the best Choco Frito in town — crispy, flavorful, and always delicious. They don’t take reservations and it’s always busy, so arrive early. You might wait over an hour, especially on weekends, but it’s 100% worth it.
Fanny — Google review
It was our first time trying Choco Frito. We were not amused. It felt like eating rubber. Couldn't finish. The fries were good though. We did not go during peak hour so got the table and service was quick. A bit overpriced for the food and service

Restaurante De Pedra e Sal Hostel & Suites is a unique establishment in the heart of Setubal, offering both a restaurant and hostel experience. The beautifully restored building exudes character and charm, providing a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. One of its standout dishes is the bife na pedra, a sizzling beef steak served on a hot stone, allowing diners to cook it to their preference at the table.
Fabulous dining experience! We stumbled into the restaurant one evening and ended up enjoying every aspect of our time here. Our server was attentive without hovering and provided helpful guidance. Each of the 3 of us ordered something different (flank steak, tuna, pork cheeks), and every item was absolutely delicious. Even the house wine was top-notch (but of course, it's Portugal). The room was quiet (we were the only party) yet inviting. I would definitely return here when I'm in Setúbal and highly recommend it.
Stace H — Google review
Great service, awful food. I really don’t understand the great reviews. If you are a steak lover, order something else. We were sold on the “salt boards”. Steak was completely bland, basically is suppose to get its flavor from the cut and a bit of salt flavor from the salt board. Meat was incredibly chewy, visible sinew throughout the entire cut (either a horrible butcher or sous chef to allow that to even happen). Venue was cool, but ate inside because of heat, open kitchen was very cool to see. Waiter and manager were both very nice. Sides were very tasty as was the sangria. It was the meat, the meat was a complete disaster. Seasoning goes a long way, as does a decent butcher!
Wendy L — Google review
Great location, but the food is not so good. Meat seamed to me like it was frozen several times. Desert - if you’ll buy the same cream brûlée at supermarket- probably it would be better. The price of a good restaurant, but in fact food is like in canteen.
Felix F — Google review
I can only speak about the food and only good things. The main courses are very well prepared and tasty, and the desserts are just the cherry on top.
Daniel C — Google review
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. They forgot our order entirely, and after a long wait we had to chase it up ourselves. When the food finally arrived, it was badly cooked and far too salty to eat. To top it off, our waiter stood at a table near us loudly complaining to other customers about not having enough staff, instead of focusing on the service. Truly unprofessional and disappointing — we will not be coming back.
Elyess E — Google review
If there is negative ratiing i will give them negative 3 and that is even me being generous. I don’t usually leave a comment but this restaurant is worst. They forgot our order, waited for more than 1hour and the other waiter who didnt took our order informed us they forgot our order. I have to say ORDER 3 times did i??? Bad experience in Setubal. Prices didn’t Match the service and food. The cuttlefish i ordered came very salty and so hard like Rubber. This is an honest unbiased review. Crap waiters worst food and please don’t go here. Even their Rose wine is low-quality. Don’t be fooled with the ambiance. Rude and Feeling entitled. NEVER AGAIN.
Harriette — Google review
The food was good but the service was terrible. I asked for a spoon, never came! I asked for a beer and also never came!! Also, no paper in the toilet. For the price you pay,you deserve to be treated in a better way.
Carlos B — Google review
The atmosphere is nice, but food was not good. Especially if you are a meat-lower and wanted a nice steak this is not the right place for you.

Casa da Baia de Setubal is a charming museum and tourist center located in a historic building on Avenida Luisa Todi. The traditional blue facade with white windows and decorative details, such as the entrance bank made from a small boat, adds to its allure. This two-floor space features an interior patio, exterior patio, auditorium, and meeting room. Visitors can gather information about the network of trails and adventure tourism in the region.
Very nicely Done and the best part is the staff here. They are very friendly and helpful. I recently moved from Lisboa to Setubal after 3 years and I am love with setubal already.

Lovely pit stop to the Blue House that is also tourist office. Was welcomed in and invited to visit the Dolphin Exhibition which was small but mighty and lots great information about Setubul Dolphins 🐬 and Ecological Systems.
Christine E — Google review
Nice tourist information centre with local wines shop, small museum about the local dolphins which we found very interesting, small cafe (most expensive and worst coffee and pastry I have had in Portugal yet, better to go to a local cafe) you can sit inside or outside, both are pretty. Small art exhibition too. Very classy tourist information I have ever been in. Nice to visit. Would not recommend the tourist train outside - audio didn’t work and it was a very bumpy ride! Also didn’t see great spots - better to just walk around yourself.
Mairi C — Google review
We had walked by this beautiful building many times and we finally stopped in. It is a collection of many things that were nice individually but they did not quite flow together. There is a dolphin museum, an art gallery, two fancy stores, and at least one restaurant. Everything was super nice, including the people that greeted us, but the Casa was simply not for us. Admission is free.
Ken W — Google review
Very nice place to get advice, rest a while and visit the toilets if you need to. There is a shop selling local food stuff incl. wine, and t-shirts. There is also a small art exhibition for local artists.
Kai T — Google review
It’s a beautiful and stylishly decorated place. Good wine choice from Setubal peninsular producers. To consume on-site is a bit pricey in Portuguese terms though. There is a lovely small museum, explaining on marine life of peninsular.
Anastassia N — Google review
Nice place where you can get Tourist information. A nice decorated place where you can sit in or outside. In the summer there is live music. A nice cofre shop where you can taste the drinks and specialties of the Setúbal área.

Restaurante O Canteiro offers a unique dining experience with its fresh and healthy food options. The restaurant provides a complete set menu that includes a buffet-style selection of dishes, pastries, fresh juice, soup of the day, and dessert. Customers praise the generous portions and reasonable prices, especially for the delicious vegan options available. The spacious and cozy atmosphere adds to the overall appeal of this dining spot. Visitors also appreciate the friendly service and English explanations provided by the staff.
We knew about the spot as a vegan friendly place. But we didn’t expect it to be so good. Very reasonable prices and very generous portions. The food is tasty and clearly using good ingredients, as we would cook it at home. It has a canteen feel when you choose your food but the space is actually very cosy. It’s already our favourite lunch spot!
Aleksandra V — Google review
This place was fantastic. Our lunch included soup, a variety of main and side dishes, fresh juice and coffee. There were many vegan options, all delicious. The service was very friendly and the man who served us, kindly explained everything in English since we are still learning Portuguese. The cafe is spacious and pretty and close to the market and historic center. I highly recommend this place!
Melissa R — Google review
Great food and service! Everyone was really friendly and the food was excellent for a good price - everything for 10.50eur/pp. It wasn't very hot but i guess that's normal when you have the food there to see.
Joana C — Google review
After reading the reviews here, I expected much more. Unfortunately the food did not live up to the hype. Some of the food was tasty but some was pretty bland. The service was great, and so was the music.
Andrew M — Google review
If you are a meat eater that I usually am, you may have to change your perspective. I came to eat food that taste fresh and also felt good to my body during and after I digested it. I order the complete set where I got to pick one plate buffet style of all the choices on the bottom level of the cafeteria trays, 4 small pastries, 1 fresh juice, 1 soup of the day and 1 dessert. The food was more than enough. I barely finished the food. The soup was good to eat with the pastries, but the filo pastry with berry compote tasted the best out of my selection. The beet apple salad was memorable. The other foods were tasty/ filling but not very memorable. The chocolate cake was delicious! I had trouble finishing it after all the food I ate, so I enlisted the help of an espresso to balance out the sweetness and speed up my digestion. I was very full, but did not feel tired after eating all the food.
Allen P — Google review
Lovely place, very clean and well decorated. Not to mention the food, I had an amazing vegan lunch and dessert. ( at a fair price btw)

Pérola da Mourisca is a renowned restaurant located near the historic Mourisca Estate by the Sado Estuary. It has been a staple in the local dining scene for almost forty years, offering a delightful array of tapas that blend Alentejan flavors with fresh seafood from the river and sea.
always pleasant and fast service (which is not everywhere in Setubal), delicious food. My daughter is always delighted with the attention of the waiters. Usually there are no problems with parking
Виктория Г — Google review
Nice food, with some interesting dishes I haven't seen in other places. The oysters were fresh, the fried shrimp entreé was delicious, the duck livers ('iscas') tasty. The fried cuttlefish was good and the tuna steak was perfectly cooked. The white wine sangria was very refreshing. The only bad point, and the reason for not giving 5 stars, was that service was slow. The servers were very nice, but I suspect the restaurant was understaffed for the amount of customers present.

Excellent! Nice atmosphere, delivious food and we had a good time enjoying our dinner.

Ribeirinha Do Sado is a delightful little gem for seafood lovers, particularly known for its incredible fresh fish offerings. The highlight here is undoubtedly the sardines, which are a must-try! While the food shines with its grilled fish and vibrant salads, some diners have noted that the service can be slow at times. However, this charming restaurant makes up for it with an extensive selection of seafood that promises to satisfy any craving.

One of the worst restaurants I've been in Setúbal. We ordered fish pasta and fried cuttlefish and the outcome was disastrous. The pasta was tasteless with the fish nowhere to be seen, the cuttlefish was salty and a dishonor to this topical dish. I wonder how such a restaurant had so many customers but Im surely not coming back.
BioTula — Google review
Two stars is generous, it is because the food is good (although there is better in Setúbal). The problem is that the boss shouts at customers if they ask for fried cuttlefish. I have never seen such a situation. The man shouting "this is a fish house, who wants fried cuttlefish has to go across the road" this when people were eating fried cuttlefish at other tables. Completely absurd! Ridiculous! I'll never set foot here again (and this didn't even happened to me). So if you are hungry and want fried cuttlefish, you should go across the road, if you want to eat something else, go to another house as this is just another restaurant in Setúbal and all the fish comes from the same place.

Seafood restaurant
Martróia is a seaside seafood restaurant that offers a unique menu of spicy chamucas, refreshing octopus salad, gratinated scallops, and flavorful seafood wraps. Situated on a small exterior terrace facing the town beach, it provides a pleasant dining experience. However, some customers have had mixed experiences with their dishes. While the risotto received high praise for its incredible taste on one occasion, there were instances when it was watery and lacking in flavor.
Never been but what caught my attention was the duo store and restaurant. We shared the seafod for 2 plus local cuttlefish, with some wine and beers outside and we loved it. It was fresh, tasty and in the right ammounts. Also I must say that the staff is quite friendly and profissional. A place to retturn, no doubt.

Checked out this place twice! First time ordered risotto and a shrimp burger. Risotto was incredible 12/10, Shrimp burger had a curry sauce with a very strong taste 6/10. Went again tonight and ordered two risottos, they took almost 40 minutes to prepare and it was watery.. taste 5/10 Came to eat amazing risotto again, but I think chef was different today. Don’t wanna gamble anymore😅

My wife and I took an Uber to Setubal. We moved to Portugal a month ago. We decided to that we needed to take some time out and visit the sea. I originally intended to go to a different restaurant but as we were on the Marina and were near Martroia, decided to go here. On another app, it indicated that the restaurant was pricey but I must admit that it wasn't. It was indeed reasonable and you pay for what you get. So indeed you get value for money. We has a fish samoosa for starter, be careful it is hot (as it temperature hot), boy this was a delightful morsel of deliciousness. I felt like fish and decides to go for the grilled tuna and lime scented rice and a mixed salad. the grilled tuna tasted like a peace of steak and boy it was a delight. The chef knows his stuff. I ordered the tuna "mal passado" which was rare (Which I feel is the best way to have it), and it was on point. This dish is highly recommendable. My partner in crime had the prawn risotto, the loved it. It was creamy, not over done and the prawns was a generous portion. Again another hit. Than came the dessert, we were stuffed tot he gills but had to try their recommended chocolate mousse. Let me tell you about this mousse. It was one of the best I have had in such a long time, My partner actually wanted to dive in and I jokingly said that I would hold her hair back ... the waiter jokingly brought a large spoon so that she can have larger helpings than I would :-). So overall, it was a delightful experience and the food really good. I would have given 5 however, there were very little shortfalls which made me decide on 4. If I give 5 out of 5, the service and food would need to be spectacular. In this occasion, the service, however good, just felt a teeny weeny short. When we arrived, the server went right past us and ignored us as we waited like idol toads, we actually went into the store next door who basically took us to the restaurant. I suppose this was due to the fact that the waiter was busy running off his feet. However, he should have sat us down and given us a menu while he did the run around. I do think that management should have two waiters there as one could not handle everything by himself. He did try his best though. There was another and he was not always there. But that did not deter from our experience which was still awesome. Overall, very recommendable.

BEST. SEAFOOD. EVER! Both food, wine and service was amazing. Visited with my girlfriend on our first night in Sebutal and we just had to come back on our last night in town. Not a cheap place, but compared to the quality the price is very fair and well worth a visit.

Hello there, do not choose Tábua Marisco 65€. Not worthy. Breaded prawns are brow to much fried. Oysters 3 and small. Boiled shrimp not bad. Shells not tasty. I strongly advise to avoid that from menu. We have pictures to corroborate this statement!!!

Peixoco offers a stunning view of the sea and prides itself on using high-quality, seasonal local ingredients such as fish, seafood, and vegetables. Although the kitchen was closed upon arrival around 4pm, the restaurant staff kindly cooked some delicious food using fresh seasonal vegetables prepared in a delightful manner. The restaurant is known for its friendly and attentive service and maintains a clean environment. The terrace provides an enjoyable dining experience with amazing food that is both tasty and fresh.
Excellent food, very reasonably priced, friendly service(Pedro is an exceptional young man that made our experience even better!) and great location. We dined here 5 times during our 2 week stay and not once we were let down! Looking forward to returning next year!

Great place for lunch by the waters. The French Portuguese menu is beautifully executed. The plating is smashing and food tastes super. Great vibes and atmosphere and wonderful relaxed service. Not rushed and very to the point. Loved it! Definitely recommended when in setubal.

Something special :) Lots of seafood and fish choices around, but Peixoco is one level up. Clearly the standard and quality is a bit higher than elsewhere. Tender and tasty choco, ovos rotos with grilled peppers, a great pica pau with crunchy pickles and an amazing chestnut autumn cake! The dessert and appetizer of CROQUETES DE CHOCO was truly something special. This is all made in-house and the effort shows by being tasty, fresh and a bit out of the ordinary. Service was good and the staff seems very committed to evolve and prepare an exciting menu. Warm recommendation!

We had been served by Pedro and was the best waiter in town. Very friendly and know the menu pretty well, even when asked for recommendations he knows how to explain and drive the experience trough the costumers taste. We are very glad we come here. Only bad note was the bread, not our type tbh, but all seafood and fish very fresh… spotless place and great atmosphere too. A must come in Setúbal.

We came for a family lunch and ended up waiting quite a while for the table to be ready guess they wanted to make sure we were really hungry)) The food took about 30-35 minutes, even though the place wasn’t busy. The fish was pretty decent, and the prices were what you’d expect in Setúbal. Probably won’t make it back for a second round, but hey, at least we got some extra quality time together!

Located in Setubal, O Ramila is a renowned harbour-side seafood restaurant that stands out among the many options available. Despite the numerous establishments to choose from, O Ramila distinguishes itself by offering a unique dish called choco frito, which consists of a generous portion of crispy and tender cuttlefish accompanied by a refreshing salad. The attentive waiter further enhances the dining experience.
Miss Ana was very welcoming and got a table for my 90yo aunty (not very mobile) straight away. Mr Diamantino was very attentive and professional. The seafood rice for 2 was incredible. Very accessible prices and amazing quality.

Most of the prices are good, but also some expensive fishes, so don't mix it. Portions are quite big. Waiting lines sometimes are big and you have to be on waiting list. Service was a bit disappointing, as waiting didn't look very clean and not first day. Some things was hard to manage with him but mostly we got what we ordered. For entries was one of the rare times when cheese (goat) was really good from a local market.

Nestled at the eastern end of Avenida Luisa Todi, Rebarca stands out as a top choice among casual dining spots, particularly for seafood lovers. This charming eatery offers an array of fresh seafood dishes that won't break the bank, with their choco frito (fried cuttlefish) being a must-try. The light and crispy coating paired with sides like chips and salad makes it a delightful experience.
Choco Frito (Cuttlefish), that’s what this place is about. Super tasty, very light dusting to make it nice n crispy. Chips and salad on the side. Super friendly staff and no nonsense food, washed down with a draft beer and a macieira and coffee after. Also has other seafood on the menu and one of us ordered the lulas (squid) but wasn’t as good as the choco. When in Setúbal, just do this.
Elton S — Google review
The owner was being very persistent trying to make us order an extra dish which was very annoying. The cuttlefish was simply inedible! It was extremely hard, rubbery, tasteless and some parts were burned! It was impossible to eat it. Also, The soup was just average! Then at the end of the meal they told us they didn’t take card payment, which was annoying since we weren’t prepared with cash and we weren’t informed about this at the beginning!

Best octopus and sardines in town, but wait there’s more! The salad is amazing Try the dessert - made by the owner’s mum! Totally recommended

Cuttlefish was hard, chewy, and big parts of it were burned. Got charged 13 euros for things we did not order like bread, olives, cheese, and tiny portions of canned fish. Should have refused to pay that part since we didn't order them (we were surprised they were on the bill at the end). One employee (or maybe she was the owner) kept pushing us to order an extra plate of fish and that was really annoying. Does not accept cash - but will not tell you that until after you ask to pay by card Overall a bad experience and I don't recommend at all.

Super good but expensive flounder (50€ for what looked like 1-1.5 kg whole fish which for flunder is not a lot of meat), nice service, awesome grill that gives charred flavor to fish skin. Venue clean and comfortable but not fancy. No waiting time, everything went super quick. + great fish + helpful and competent staff - fish price is on expensive side but price is known beforehand - no multibanco so have cash on you and plan ahead

Rockalot Praia is a delightful establishment located in Setubal that offers a unique dining experience. Unlike traditional restaurants, there is no table service available. Instead, patrons are invited to order their food and then choose a table where they can enjoy the breathtaking view. While I cannot confirm the quality of the food, it seems that drinks such as spritzer cocktails and mineral water are popular choices among visitors.
Great place right on the beach - happening hangout with lively music, lots of beach-goers. Wide selection of beverages. Need to order at the counter & pay, but the servers will bring out the beverages / food.

Not many beach front bars to be found in Setúbal so you are rewarded by finding a couple at the western edge of the waterfront. I had 2 pretty well made Caiprioska's here, and at 8€ was not the cheapest but I can forgive it for how good they were. Has music pumping on the terrace, a sandy beach, although there are signs up warning about swimming here. You have to order at the bar and then your items are brought out to you.

Furthermore, the staff exhibited remarkable friendliness and language barrier wasn't an issue as communication in English was effortless. Really good Angus beef burger experience. It has a pleasant setup and vibe. The service was good, didnt have to wait too long and the burger and fries were yummy!

Burguesa Burger is a great spot to treat yourself to a wide variety of creative and flavorful burgers. Here’s what we ordered: • Cezar Burger • Goat Cheese Burger • Burger of the Day • Soft Drinks Each burger was absolutely delicious, packed with fresh ingredients and unique flavors. The crispy, golden fries served on the side were equally mouthwatering, making the meal even more satisfying. The restaurant was clean, and the service was efficient and friendly, ensuring a smooth dining experience. While the ambience wasn’t particularly remarkable, it’s clear that the focus here is on the food—and it doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend Burguesa Burger to all burger lovers and will definitely be coming back for more.

We had a very pleasant dinner at u Tópico and it saved our trip to Setúbal since we had a not so great dinner experience the night before somewhere else. We really liked the cozy atmosphere. The service was fast and very friendly. The food was delicious, with perfectly balanced flavours. We all liked all the dishes that we ordered but if I had to choose favourites, it'd be the pumpkin puff pastry, salmon ceviche and the chocolate tart with flor de sal. They also have a nice selection of affordable wines. I'd highly recommend this restaurant!

One of our favorites. Ambience is cozy and charming, staff are warm and helpful, food is delicious and shareable. Not at all a traditional Portuguese restaurant, but there are plenty of fish dishes, as well as meat and vegetables. Vegetarians could happily eat to their hearts' content here. Prices are great, and we usually order two plates per person to share around the table (whether it's just two of us or six of us), plus a shared dessert (or two--they're so good!). We like sitting outside for a sunny lunch and inside for a quiet dinner. Info on Instagram; I use Instagram messaging to make reservations.

Nestled on a quaint side street in the heart of the old town, Tasca Do Choco is a charming little tapas restaurant that exudes warmth and care. Run by a dedicated woman and her young son, this cozy spot offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day at the beach. While the menu may not boast groundbreaking dishes, each item is thoughtfully prepared.
Superb local delicacy Choco Frito served fresh and quickly. Beer served icy cold in clay jugs is a bonus too. Prices are excellent. The clean open kitchen shows you that they're serious about the hygiene inside, the near constant pigeons walking across any empty outside tables, however, isn't nice! Every table should get a good disinfectant wipe when a new guest sits down.

Tasca do Choco serves lots of Choco for the price, but the Choco's batter was very salty. Maybe as finger food, it was designed to get me to drink more beer. I had to drink lots of water to balance out the saltiness. Overall the first few bites were delicious! The sangria was sweet and fit my palate!
Allen P — Google review
The food was prepared fast and it looked really appetising. My order consisted of fried cuttlefish, fries and a salad on one giant plate with a little bowl of sauce. I really liked the fries and cuttlefish, but it tasted overall bland to me. It was very filling, so I could barely eat it all up. This is very much based on my taste, but it did feel like high quality food.
Angela — Google review
Ok hear me out, never had eaten chicken soup with cuttlefish, but this one was amazing, it tasted like chicken soup but had the little cuttlefish pieces and a few clams inside, a bit on the salty side but it tasted really good and fills your tummy fast. I tasted the fried cuttlefish but it wasn't out of the ordinary and also a bit oily and salty. Overall really nicely priced placed to eat after you just came from the beach and need a quick something to fill you up!
Alexa — Google review
The cuttlefish was good but the fries that came with it were cold. That is however not surprising since we waited 1 hour for our order to arrive. Last but not least the place is pigeon infested with pigeons walking around and eating of the leftovers on the tables even inside of the restaurant.

The atmosphere here is great, but the service was some of the worst I’ve experienced. Very slow, staff didn’t know how to handle multiple tables at once, and they kept us waiting for about 40 minutes before they took our order. On a Wednesday evening, we were lucky to get a walk-in (there were booked tables of 25, 11, 9, 7 and 10 people) and grab a table outside on the patio under the trees. The two burgers were surprisingly good and an absolute bargain at < €12 each including fries. The patty was well cooked, meaty and well made, and although the egg yolk was cooked slightly more than I personally prefer it all paired really nicely. Well worth a visit!

Relatively undiscovered region to foreign tourists . The lady at the tourism counter spoke English but only recommendation was to give me a map . I was the ONLY person in the office so maybe be more proud of promoting the region . She seemed more interested in talking to her work colleagues. USUALLY Tourism offices in Portugal are very helpful & informative

Cass do Turismo in Setúbal is a great resource both for visitors and locals. They're always up on local goings on, and a good source of information on local wines and wineries. But my favorite feature is having a €1,50 vinho Branco on the terrace and people watch.

Resort hotel
Montado Hotel & Golf Resort offers unpretentious accommodations in a relaxed setting, featuring a wellness center, an eatery, and a golf course. Recently, 12 individuals returned from a golf excursion and were pleased with the overall condition of the course, particularly the well-maintained putting greens. The hotel itself received positive reviews as well, with commendations for its competent staff members who contributed to an enjoyable stay.
Just finished playing in a tournament at Montado, and wow, what a course! Super challenging. The whole event was really well run, and the other players were awesome. Definitely a must-play if you're a golfer!
Marcelo S — Google review
I recently had a disappointing stay at the Montado Hotel & Golf Resort. First of all, the pictures of the pool area on their website did not match reality at all, and it was shocking to find out that one of the photos on Google wasn't even from the hotel's pool. The overall condition of the facilities was subpar, showing signs of neglect and lack of maintenance for years. Despite their check-in information stating that the spa was available, it was actually under maintenance during my visit, rendering it unusable. To add to the frustration, the internet in my room didn't work, and there was no phone signal either. This made communication and work nearly impossible. Furthermore, the toilet in my room had visible marks of humidity, and the front desk didn't make any effort to relocate us to a cleaner room. In addition, some of the switches in the room were non-functional, and there was a clutter of boxes and mattresses outside, creating a messy atmosphere. The water temperature in the showers fluctuated between hot and cold, making for an uncomfortable experience. On a positive note, the staff in the food and beverage outlets were friendly and accommodating. The staff at the front desk was really nice as well but they were not able to find a solution to any of our problems even when we try to pay more for an upgraded room, they said they had nothing available, eventhough there was availability online.... To sum it up, this was one of the worst stays I've had, and I believe the neighboring Ibis, which is cheaper, would offer a better experience.
Nuno P — Google review
No Wi-Fi in the bedroom (front desk suggested opening the window so we’d get a connection - not a joke). You should really say you have Wi-Fi if you can’t provide it for every single guest. Phone service was also pretty bad in the room, so we couldn’t even use our personal data or make calls - which is pretty annoying. Bed covers were a simple sheet and bottom sheets didn’t even fit the bed… disappointing. Toilet was dirty and stained inside - our complaint to front desk gave them a full 3+ hours to find a solution but after follow up nothing was done. They said the stains were not coming out and that there were no other double rooms that we could move to - not in the same category, below or above. We asked if anything in the above category would be available, even if we had to pay for it, and they said no. However, when checking booking they did have suites available. Whether or not the website was incorrect this is the type of thing that should be avoided when solving complaints. No solution was offered whatsoever. Their problem resolution was no short of “we can’t do anything about it” which for a 4 star hotel should not be the way to go. We did not feel like they were trying to solve the issues at hand at all. The common areas are outdated and structures could use a refurbish. Pool was small and cold and most of the space was in the shade. Kind of not what the website and booking pages show. The restaurant and bar (including the breakfast) were great. Nice food selection, amazing staff and great service. The golf course seems well serviced and absolutely amazing and the golfers seemed to be having a great time. It seems like they invest more in the golf course than in the hotel itself so if you’re looking for a great golf course and don’t care much about the rest than this is a great choice.

Nice place in the middle of the countryside... For golf lovers. Pool is a bit small neither indoor or outdoor. Nice cafe and restaurant but with difficult wheelchair access. Overall grounds are great and relaxing!! Staff is friendly and polite. Its also a closed residential area but a bit abandoned.
Natanael V — Google review
A beautiful place with a huge golfing area and a lot of holes. Food is great, the breakfast offers a wide variety of food, everything is fresh and everything gets refilled, you don't have to worry about coming late. The bathroom has a bath. The bar has some awesome music and it's great to meet people there. The hotel has a tiny gym and a jakuzzi with a swimming pool.
Abel — Google review
It doesn’t feel like a 4 stars hotel at all! Bad: small, COLD swimming pool, the floor was also very slippery, after we left the jacuzzi our skin was itching. Breakfast was very average, not fresh eggs to be made, even the coffee didn’t taste good. They don’t really have a kids area. They have a little tens and ya left from ole with old papers and nothing else. Our bedroom wasn’t very clean. Good: the golf court is very pretty to see, almost all rooms have a golf court view. They have a mini fridge and the ac worked very well

Booked a room here to celebrate my birthday. Before booking I ensured to email about whether I could use a voucher, sending through a photo of the amount. The room was booked. On check-in, I reconfirmed that I could use the voucher on services (food, spa, etc.), and the receptionist confirmed stating to charge the services back to the room And they would be deducted upon checkout. So I did. I ended up charging services to the room. We thought we’d relax in the spa bath, steam room, sauna, and pool. Although saying ABERTO with door open - all the lights were off, the steam room and sauna were off, and the spa had lukewarm water. Upon check out reception did not deduct the amount and after much discussion and proof of confirmation they continued to refuse to deduct it. I asked to speak to higher manager who also refused to deduct the voucher. This miscommunication put a huge dampener on my stay and would not recommend staying here as after two prior confirmations, it ended up being false advertising and I had to pay extra on my birthday. Very disappointed.
Vincenza R — Google review
About the room: - Comfortable and spacious. The view for the golf course is very pleasant and beautiful. - The room at the edge of the building, in the 3rd floor, had poor internet connection, very unstable. - The kitchennet is too basic: only 3 dishes and 3 forks, soup spoons and knifes; 2 glasses and 2 cups for tea/coffee. Not a single pan! No microwave. The fridge is a minibar without freezer. About the public areas: - Old with some visible damages. About the breakfast: - You will not leave the hotel with hungry but it is poor for a 4star hotel. The hot milk is powdered milk from a machine; the cold milk is regular milk or soya milk. Only 1 type of sliced cheese and ham. Fresh cheese also available. The juice is awful, processed. The croissants are bad. The butter and the jam selection are good. The bread is also good, although deep-frozen. Finally, if you want an espresso, you will pay for it, because it is not included! Only instant coffee, from the same machine where you get the milk, is available for free. The fresh fruit is okay. About the staff: - All friendly and pleasant. About the golf: - The driving range and the 2 putting greens are very good; - You may request clubs at the reception (free of charge). The putter, the pitching wedge, the driver, the irons they have them all. - For 3€ you will have access to a full basket of balls. - The golf course is a 18 holes course. - You may rent golf trolleys bags and golf cars.

The portion sizes are generous, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
This spot is hands down our go-to for sushi. Always super fresh, high quality, and honestly just hits every time. The vibe is chill, the service is great, and the food never disappoints. We absolutely love it and keep coming back — easily our favorite sushi place.🥰

We are from Canada, which has some of the finest Japanese restaurants outside of Japan, and Yoshiki Sushi would do very well there. Food is fresh, service is personal and attentive, and the price point can't be beat. A six piece salmon sashimi at 4 Euro would be 3 times the cost in Canada. A huge glass of wine at 2 Euros was a bonus!

Fantastic sushi experience! This place recently changed owners and we are amazed by the quality of the food and.thr kindness of the staff! We went twice already this week with our 2 young kids and while they were being entertained by the staff (it was quiet at that time of the day) we were able to enjoy our sushi boat. My son who is a bit picky with certain things was given a selection of different options by the chef, who was super nice and forthcoming with him, teaching him how to eat with chopsticks. In the meantime we were able to enjoy the delicious food, which is unbeatable in price as well. All in all a clear 5 stars and worth a visit 💚

My husband and I are retired seniors in our 70s and 80s from the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. We are world travelers and foodies. Japanese and Asian food are one of our very top favorites. While touring Setúbal, the little charming seaside town used to be a major fishing village and famous Portuguese sardine/tuna canning base, we walked by Yoshiki Sushi at almost the end of the lunch hour and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be yet another highlight of our mini weekend trip to the area! The high quality of the miso soup (homemade from scratch) and varieties of sushis and sashimis let us to talk with the chef/owner Tilak, a Nepalese who worked years in five-star hotels in Dubai and other European countries and learned all the techniques, tricks, and secrets from the top chefs about sushi making and other Japanese/Asian dishes before he finally saved enough money to start his own venture in Portugal. His efforts to strive for high quality food go by these orders: safety, freshness, taste, and presentation. Particularly with Japanese cuisine, which usually involves with raw fish, he definitely got that right, and executed faithfully. If you had the same dishes with the same presentations in an elegant dining room in Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton (with more expensive plates though), you wouldn’t feel any mismatch. That’s how we enjoyed Tilak’s dishes. We’ve tasted sushi all over the world from Michelin stared restaurants to hole in the wall street shops. Thanks to Tilak and his wife Susie, very kind and hardworking couple, for bringing beautiful international food for the locals, as well as travelers. For anyone who enjoys sushi or craving for quality Japanese food at very low cost, Yoshiki is worth the driving or going back for from time to time!
Jenny L — Google review
The fish was super fresh, very well rolled bite sized sushi, really good, however, with a lot of fruit, some of them not so tender for a sushi. Not much variety on the sushi, but honestly, it was enough for the price. Very good price, worth it for a little lunch! Went with 4 people, they made 2 sushi boats, which was very thoughtful! We repeated a few of the sushi and the sashimi and they were lovely all the way. We got a white wine sangria and they were happy to make it. Very small, comfy place! Feels like a familiar environment :) You get what you pay for and I appreciate that!!

The eclectic mix of bold tastes, sweet and savoury, old and new, offer very unique additions to the humble burger. Today I visited Restaurante Dom Peppone for lunch. It has two locations in close proximity. The language barrier was not a problem as there is minimal English spoken here. The caprese salad is highly recommended and perfect for sharing. The chicken lasagna was delightful, with an abundance of gooey melted cheese that was freshly baked. Just to note, the chicken in the lasagna is shredded rather than cubed. My partner enjoyed their Bolognese dish which was also very good.
After visiting the Forte De Sao Filipe, we were walking back to the town center and came upon Dom Peppone Pizzeria on Av. Luisa Todi. The restaurant looked very inviting. We ordered a Caprese Salad (€7.60), a large Margarita Pizza (€14,50), and 1 Liter of Sangaria (€11.00). The Caprese was fresh and delicious. The Margarita Pizza was one the best margaritas we've ever had. The Sangaria had plenty of fruit and was tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. If we come back to Setubal, we will definitely visit Dom Peppone again.

Pizzaria Cores e Sabores offers a delightful culinary experience with their delectable pizza bread soaked in aromatic garlic butter. The assortment of breads available is well-made and perfectly proportioned. While the casual ambiance and decor are pleasant, the wait times for both seating and food preparation can be painfully long. Unfortunately, telephone contact is ineffective as no one answers calls. As a repeating costumer my experience has been as follows: + Delicious pizza bread sunken into garlic butter, a truly tasty decadence. + All the breads I've tried were well confectioned and proportioned. • Casual ambience and decor - Waiting time for food to be done is excruciatingly long, by consequence, so does waiting for a seat - No telephone contact, it exists but no one picks it up, rendering it useless If you're not in a rush and you're craving for some pizza bread, this is the place to go in Setúbal

Let me start by saying that our Shrimp Pizza and chicken salad tasted pretty good!... but we ordered a large pizza and to our surprised we got a 10 inch (26 cm) pizza. Gosh that is small in any country, specially considering that on average in the U.S. pizza sizes are: Small: 6 slices (8-10" - 20-25 cm) pizza Medium: 8 slices (12 inch - 30 cm) pizza Large: 10 slices (14-16" - 35-40 cm) pizza Exra-large: 12 slices Also to note the few shrimp and the fact that slices were not pre-cut. So, even though taste was good, we were quite dissapointed with the overall experience. Still searching for a good pizza spot in Portugal ;)

Tropical pizza - that I have never tried before. I was actually pretty good.
Jonas N — Google review
Terrible service. We arrived as a party of 5 with a reservation, they didn't have a table for us. Sorted the table, took 30min to ask what we wanted to order, brought the sangria and after 40min no sign of our starters and other people arrived after us were served before us. I had to go inside and asked what happened to our order and the chef tells me "15min" and I said that's unacceptable and we were going to leave, after 5min our starters arrived followed by our order. You have too many tables to serve with only two guys serving and two chefs. Food was ok but time waiting ruinned it.
Nadine F — Google review
Both my girlfriend and I tried the pollo spinaci calzone. While the calzone's presentation is lovely, that's where the positive points end. The dough was not sufficiently cooked and the bechamel sauce was everywhere, watered down and without flavour. This was the case for both calzones. The combination made for a plate entirely without palate, where the only sensation in our mouths were raw flour and water (the supposed bechamel), completely overpowering and washing out any and all flavour from our meals. The sangria, or punch, was drawn from the tap and not freshly made either.
Mario R — Google review
Looked a very nice place to eat. But after waiting 15min to be asked what I want, waited an other 45min for a garlic bread and an other 45min till I paid the bill and left.
Miguel G — Google review
Have been here a number of times in the last 3 years and it can be hit and miss, a tendency to overdo the cheese on the pizza , staff friendly but a bit forgetful, make your own opinion
Fred H — Google review
Great service but the pizza dough is more like pita bread.
Evelina — Google review
Waited at our table for 45 minutes, called the waiter several times, he didn't even take our order, no drinks, not even water to wait. We left for another place.

I visited Bar O Forneiro to watch a rugby match, specifically Portugal's game. Despite having three TVs, they assured me that watching the rugby game would not be an issue and played it on the third television. The waiter provided excellent service with professionalism. I highly recommend this bar for its good TVs, pleasant ambiance, and quality service. It is a perfect spot for a satisfying meal.
The staff is great, the atmosphere and people, top notch!
Thomas C — Google review
Big portions and the oven cooked bread with chorizo was nice, freshly baked and warm, but the picadinho de carnes was a bowl of fatty over salty, gristly offcuts of mixed meats and the salty pickled vegetables on top did nothing to cut through this. But it was busy so other dishes must be good.
Rhino — Google review
This restaurant depends on the time of the year and the day you go there. Honestly, if you go and the restaurant isn't full, you'll have a great experience. Service is nice and quick. Atmosphere is good if there isn't a football match happening. Their specialty is "pão com chouriço". Super good, baked on the spot. Everything is well done, nothing out of this world, but for the price you pay, is more than fair.
Eduardo C — Google review
A great place. Friendly staff and tasty food which they are quick to serve. Really nice atmosphere and not expensive. We went back a few times.

I Went to this bar to Watch a rugby game. Portugal was playing, they had three TV but they told me no problem to watch my rugby game. They played it on the third tv. The waiter was very nice and profesionnal. To watch a game I recommand it ! Good tv, good atmosphere and good service ☺️

Ok(ish) food for a quick fix. Grab the oven stuff. Personal experience was: 20min later a waiter decides he needs some of our chairs and bothers to mention we need to order inside, so not a great customer service.
J J — Google review
Perfect place for some scran. Great for after a few drinks and you're needing a little night booster so that you can drink for longer or great at the end of the night too , since it's open until 4am

One of my favourite spots for a quick meal with friends. They have an amazing bread with chorizo. Go there and ask for one with a Caldo Verde. It's heaven :)

Great place to watch the football and have a Guinness

Big place with several TVs following different games. Pool tables and an inside outdoors space where one can eat, follow a game and have a cigarette! Staff is friendly and the prices are nice also!

"I believe that those working in the restaurant industry should speak at least a little English. I asked a girl, and she replied that she doesn't speak English and didn't even try to inquire about my order. In fact, she was rude and tarnished the reputation of the place. I will never return there again."
Ramzi M — Google review
Was advised its good location for rugby, but at half time game was changed to soccer, they had the same soccer match on 4 other TV, not to mention it was Ireland winning six nations on St Patrick's weekend, and all staff had St Patrick's day t-shirts on.........poor service....
John R — Google review
Unwelcoming at first, but warmed through the evening. Food here was good, A very good house wine at 5 Euros per litre was great, good screens for sports and good pool tables too. Would have been a straight 5 star if the staff hadn't made me feel like I'd robbed the till when I walked in ;)
Frags G — Google review
Good sports cafe. Can be full during big games. Has bar games. Pool etc
Tim S — Google review
Who is watching from the outside doesn't imagine how much room do they have inside, it's a bug enough to take about 60 clients in a comfortable way. The menu is diversed with some vegan options food or the traditional ones. A few TVs are available for sports enthusiast has the name suggests. Very affordable and friendly prices. Staff at this moment were very accessible.
Paulo G — Google review
I've been a costumer of this place for, more or less, two years. The attendance to the client have always been a big handicap. However, after some weeks away, I went there two weeks ago and it seems like things went out of control...twenty minutes waiting just to order, then they forget us for more half an hour, finally the meal was especially bad in taste....and no, it was not crowded. But I was lucky, this time the employee didn't argue with me when I made my complain. I want to believe this things only happen to me here, because I'm bad luck. Still the food used to be average quality and fair price. Many times its to much crowded, the air condition its always poor and very smelly (the kitchen appears not to have proper ventilation conditions).

(Translated by Google) Traditional Portuguese food, very well prepared and delicious. The staff is fantastically friendly, cheerful, helpful, and efficient. The atmosphere maintains the historical features of the "wine cellar" that the people of Setúbal know so well, where symbols of the Enormous Vitória are still preserved and where you could eat the best bifanas (pork sandwiches) in the universe and beyond!!! 😁
José S — Google review
(Translated by Google) I've known this wine cellar for many years, back when it had a more traditional concept, focused on typical Portuguese dishes and a welcoming atmosphere that valued local gastronomy. Recently, I decided to return to see the renovated space, but unfortunately I felt that the new concept lost part of the original identity. Despite the more modern atmosphere, the experience fell short of expectations. The cover charge seemed high for what was served, not justifying the price charged. We ordered bifanas (pork sandwiches) and fried cuttlefish sandwiches, but we had an unpleasant incident: one of the bifanas came with a large hair inside, which is totally unacceptable, especially considering the hygiene and food safety standards currently required. It was necessary to call the employee to resolve the situation, which was embarrassing. Another negative point was the separate charge for mayonnaise and mustard — condiments that, in most establishments, are included at no extra cost, especially in simple meals like these. In short, it was a disappointing visit. Nowadays, there are other places that maintain the quality and tradition and offer a better quality-price ratio. I believe that the essence of what this winery represented was lost with the renovation.

Café Portugal is a charming eatery that embodies a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for both locals and visitors. Renowned for its delicious homemade dishes, this café serves up an array of mouthwatering options like fish fillets, stewed tongue, and braised cod. Each meal is crafted with care using fresh ingredients—think crispy homemade fries and flavorful rice paired with vibrant salads.
This is a family restaurant were you can find traditional Portuguese meals (daily you can find "arroz de cabidela", wich is a good example of tradititional food in Portugal). No ATM available so you must get some cash before going there. Excellent food .
