Very nice! As soon as you enter Bistro 2.53, you are greeted by a friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. The menu offers a wide range of meals, mostly meat-based. We had one menu deal, which includes a starter, a main dish and a desert. In addition we had a second main dish. We started off with pieces of crispy coated fried chicken. We had spare ribs and the rib/steak combo. For desert we had the crème brulee. The dishes are very big and very tasty. I would’ve rated the restaurant a solid 5 if it wasn’t for the somewhat disapointing fries. They weren’t great. A very nice restaurant offering high quality and large dishes for a verg reasonable price!

Great place!

Okay place in apparently the oldest remaining building in Emmen, a Saxon farm. Went here for dinner, and had the 3 course set menu. Good spread of choices, although not very adventurous. Food was well made, and the staff was friendly.

We visited with 4 adults and 3 kidz. Good restaurant with nice location in the village centre. Its a better alternative for restaurants at the wildlife park. Restaurants at the park serve only basic fast food. Its a family friendly restaurant with a little above average menu. A seperate childrens menu and child seat are available. The service is very helpfull and friendly. We where served by 5 different waiters during our visit which is a bit odd and doesnt really improve service i think. Food quality is good. The place has a large outdoor seating area. There are many seats inside aswell. We went of a good start but service continued to get slower between courses with not that many people having dinner. We spend 3 hours for 3 courses, which is a little much for kidz. Wonder how it is when the place is packed. We ordered some breads and butter from the starters menu to fill the time and tummy untill maincourse only to find out that every maincourse comes automatically with bread and butter starters!!. They could have mentioned that while we ordered it in the first place. For the pre ordered ones we had to pay offcourse. A bit weird. But overall a nice place and i would go again.

Very nice location, service and atmosphere, but the food was way below par. The veggie lasagna had no taste and everything else was too salty except the veggie quiche which is supposed to be salty (and was the best item we ordered).

Got booked by organization as part of business trip. But find to be great hotel and near to town center make it easy walking access to all place around.

Very basic, old, worn out room. Dirt and marks all over the wallpaper. It is unclear which rooms have AC while booking a room. Ours didn't have one. I cannot understand the high rating. It is overpriced and very underwhelming. The only good thing is the vinicity to Wildlands and breakfast. We also had Dinner at their Restaurant which was also overpriced and not tasty at all. Service was chaotic. Would not recommend.

The receptionists are very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast has a good variety of food. I would have like a better choice of fresh fruit and vegetables but that's more personal taste. The room was located just in front of the main street. It might be a bit noisy in some moments. There was also a light, that was needed for illumination of the hotel, that was very bright. Luckily it was going to be shut around midnight. The room didn't have any electrical furniture as a kettle or fridge. Overall it is a nice hotel with a great atmosphere. I will get back if needed

Rooms were spacious and nicely arranged, but also kinda warm (to be expected after a heatwave and no AC). Not well isolated though, as we could easily hear normal conversations from the corridor and possibly even other rooms. Decent beds, though they were 2 singles as 1 double and very easily moved apart, good desk and comfy chairs, nice bathroom. The most annoying thing was the extremely bright lights from the parking, shining straight in through the window. Good breakfast and spacious table arrangement, plenty of parking, okay WiFi. Quite pricy, but same all around the area really. Service was excellent!

Had a very pleasant stay in this modern and friendly hotel. Rooms are spacious (ask for an art room if available as the standard rooms are a bit drab). The staff were very friendly and the restaurant is great. Breakfast was a bit expensive for the offerings but all the food was good. Small fitness center which I didn’t get a chance to use, and good access to bus stops nearby.

I very much enjoyed my stay. I stayed here while I was working in Emmen for a couple months. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and well kept. The staff arranged a refrigerator for my room because I was there so long which was very nice. I was there in February and March 2021. I my room overlooked the street which I was worried about but it ended up not being a problem. The sound from the road was not too bad. The breakfast was ok only because of COVID regulations, we had to order the day before and pick it up in a bag the next day. The restaurant had great food. I feel like it was a bit overpriced but the food was good. In all I would recommend this hotel to anyone without question. I hope to stay there again.

I've eaten here many times. Their burgers are the best in town! Are they the best I've ever had? No. but they're of great quality for sure. Fries are delicious too, so is the lemonade. Can't speak for most of the other items, as I always order the same 3 items cus I love em :) It is a bit expensive, though. At 25 euro + for delivery and around 20 for dine-in with a drink. Worth it, though. Decide for yourself!

We had Chef Burger July 2022. While I do not have any complaints regarding the food, the service is another story. We had issues with our server and our bill. The server did not seem like he knew what he was doing and looked confused the entire time. He brought us drinks we did not order and charged us for them (they took them back to the kitchen we did not drink them). When we got ready to pay we tried 5 different cards to pay and none of them worked. Two Visa CC, One AMEX, One Visa Debt, and One MasterCard Debt. Non of these would work. I was forced to pull money out of an ATM that was close the charged me 5.40 euros in transaction fees. This has "been a problem for a while" but they don't seem to care enough about the customer to get it corrected. They acted like it was our fault that the 5 different payment methods we attempted did not work. For this reason I would not recommend going to this burger joint. Hopefully they will correct these problems.

Extremely good burgers with a lot of different types of flavour. You can order them as a package with fries or salad and a drink so the whole menu only cost around 12€. The burgers alone cost ~8€ each but you can order them as a XL version for a small additional charge. Also the staff was friendly and did speak Dutch, German and English. Conclusion: I would totally recommend this place!

One of the best places in Emmen and maybe Drenthe in general to enjoy a nice cozy 'gezellig' outing...BUT as for the food... 1/10... sadly nothing is perfect! And when told that it was not good... no reaction! Very disappointed!

A typical van der Valk, so there was nothing to complain about really. It’s located near the A37 with plenty of parking space. The food was more than fine, the service was prompt and everything was clean.

Excellent room in the new block, like a small apartment, with balcony and plenty of seating. Huge bathroom, separate toilet, fridge and tea making facilities. Excellent value for money. Two negatives: The receptionist could have been a bit more friendly and helpful. There is no bar area, despite the size of the hotel and the huge lobby area. The 'bar' is cramped into a tiny room together with the poor Brasserie guests, who have to compete with bar guests for seating.

We only came to have dinner at the restaurant. Online it said it was fully booked, but we made a quick call and were able to get seated without any issues. The food was okay, not great, on the pricey side and small portions. We got to share three small bowls of fries, potatoes and broccoli with 4 people, which was honestly way too little. We also got 2x the steak and 2x the salmon. The steak was not very tender but I did enjoy the pepper sauce, so overall it was alright. The salmon was good of taste, but the portions really differed. I'd say one salmon portion was almost twice as big as the other. Not very fair for the price. There also was no beer menu card, which we found very strange. Overall service was alright, not exceptional but alright.

It’s our first holiday vacation with my baby was very exciting . But the room is not clean. The carpet is smelly Since I lying down there playing with my son i was notice it . and also lots of mosquitos. When we was sleeping we can hear the mosquito ehhh ehhh flying anywhere and the worst is when my son is sleeping I see the mosquito biting him in he’s face . I killed this vampire mosquito . When we go home my son lots of mosquito bites in he’s face !!! Terrible !!!

A really nice Van der Valk hotel conveniently located close to the A37. The room was large and whilst the double bed was to singles pushed together, it was a comfortable nights sleep. The restaurant was really very good considering its location and was very busy. The food was cooked really well and the menu offered a good range of standard dishes, presented well and cooked wonderfully. I would certainly recommend if you need a stop over in the area.

Worst hotel experience ever! There where renovations going on next to our room. This was not communicated to us. If we knew we wouldn't stay here because we wanted a nice relaxing trip. After going to the reception to complain about this they say it is on there website. We booked this via vandervalkexclusief.nl and not hotelemmen.nl, so we never went to "their" website beforehand. We didn't received a mail about renovations so how would we know there where renovations? When I checked even when I would go to their website on my moble you first have to scroll down to the welcome text which most people don't read and there is one sentence really small about this and that would be sufficient according to them. I didn't agree ofcource but they kept saying 'it is on our website'. This would mean that everytime I book a hotel I have to put on a Sherlock cap and investigate if there is anything going on in a hotel I booked. Next to other things like airco was broken and when you want cold water it is scolding hot, what they tried to fix because there was someone in our room leaving a mess. But his someone also thought let just keep the door unlocked and open!!! This was just rediculous. There was so much more what was just wrong about his hotel and stay but I just keep it short. After contacting their "sales" department because they apparently are also the customer service department. It was the same old same old saying it is on our website and they could do not anything for us. Even going on the attack that we could possibly could have been bothered by the construction noise. Basicly saying we are liars.

We ordered pizza's take out, was truly amazing. We even got a separate bag for the parmazan and arugula so it stayed nice and crisp. Once its allowed we will definitely dine-in. Very much looking forward to it!

Genuine Indian cuisine. Their Vindaloo is awesome. Just mention you want the real deal and it is what you can expect in a local restaurant in New Delhi. They also serve Cobra and King Fisher. Unfortunately bottled, but that makes sense I guess.

This Greek restaurant is full 5 stars worth. Even the kids öiked their meal. Everything was nice, tastes absolutely great and was made with love. Fresh herbs, salad, fresh garlic. The main dishes were also super nice! Bifteki juicy, lamb was fresh, all other stuff like sauces all great. Very very good. Fully satisfied and I can fully recommend!

Delicious grill dishes. We had mix grills and luxi mix grills. Each meat is roast well and tasted nice and tender. Service is perfect. When we had to leave earlier, the lady ran into kitchen to help packing deserts for us to take away. Very thoughtful service. We will come back for sure.

A great find in Emmen, there's a reason it's top rated. Couldn't fault the food at all. We had the mezze board and calamari. Generous calamari portion, and was lovely to try a bit of everything on the mezze. Gyros and moussaka were our mains and again, very generous portions and so flavourful. The waiting staff were very polite, one of the best greek restaurants I've dined at!

Happened upon this wonderful place as we were travelling through. Starving, but arriving between lunch and dinner time, the owner graciously opened for our family and personally prepared the most wonderful meal for a very reasonable price. They sent us on our way with cappuccino and cookies. We wish we lived here; it would be our go to restaurant.

Loved it! Although the staff don't really speak English, they still try their best to understand you and talk to you. The food was really good as was the price. The place is cosy, warm with clean wc and a beautiful interior. If you are into well made meat, I do suggest going here.

Went here with a couple of friends. We had some drinks and lunch. There’s a lot to choose from and plenty of vegetarian options. I ordered the “van Dobben kaaskroketten”. They were pretty tasty only fried a bit too long for my taste. The interior of the place really surprised me, it’s very cosy and the service was fast and polite.

The terrace was inviting enough to stop and enjoy a cold beverage and delicious tosti. Fast service and fantastic place to watch all kind of people walk by or cycle by, no cars allowed.

The highlight of my stay in Emmen. I walked in for a quick one before checking in at my hotel and came back every night for a week. Friendly and helpful staff, a wide and well picked selection of beers, great food and a good vibe. A nice place to kick back, relax and enjoy the authentic Emmen experience. You won't regret it!

After a lovely day at the spa this was a good pick. I love myself a carpaccio and this is the best I had. A nice twist. Brisket not so much. Wasn't that tender and a bit dry . Bavette was lovely. Pornstar martini are delish. Good service. We got 2 chipper glasses and it was immediately fixed.

The brisket was pretty dry. The burger was average. The appetizers were delicious though. We were happy with the service as well.

All the dishes we ordered were great! The meat was super tender and it tasted suepr good even without sauce. They also had a variety of different less common beers that you normally wouldn't see at a restaurant, which is quite nice if you want to try something new. They only downside I found is that it can be tricky to park your car nearby and that for the choices of "normal" beer they had Heineken. I believe that Hertog Jan is a bit of a better choice given it's the only beer I have never heard any complaint from any dutch person (and the taste of it is great accompanied with food)

Bij Sib is quite a new restaurant in Emmen. We went there for dinner with the family, and although the food is really really good, there are definitely a few things that can be improved. For example, it took quite a while before someone came to take our order for drinks, the same happened with the food. On top of this, we had to wait long before we received our food. It wasn't possible to order tap water (only mineral water, which we, of course, had to pay for). The menu was not really readable, and it looked like some random dishes were put on the menu, without thinking of an overall theme. The fact that the food was really good and the staff was very friendly definitely improved our experience. Therefore, I hope that the things described above will be taken into account and hopefully improved by the restaurant, because they have the potential to become one of the better restaurants of Emmen!

We make reservation 2 days in advance, but when we got there, on time at (6) we sow enough tables empty, but we were send upstairs, really not good,😤 we order the brisket, 3x it was oke, but didn't have the wahoo effect, it was missing sous, it was dry 🥱😑 the patat portion was really small 👎 voor 4 people, not one came around to ask if we needed anything 🤬 at the end, we were ask if we wanted something on the house to make it right 😉 😀

Very good pizzas! Nice service but not really experienced. Good wine and deserts. Atmosphere can be improved. They have an open kitchen which really looks cool. Many tables and also available for bigger groups. Their deserts are mostly ice creams and tiramisu. Location close to the centre of Emmen.

Both the welcome by one of the waitresses and the pizzas we ordered were as cold as the arctic. I ordered a vegetarian pizza, which a rich variety of vegetables. Unfortunately, these were either canned (mushrooms, artichoke, tomato, and olives) or from the freezer (unions and red pepper) resulting in a tasteless gooey on top of a flattened bread, rather than a pizza. My wife had a pizza with chicken shoarma which was dominated by union and rucola and there was hardly any chicken on it. My daughter's pizza appeared okay, but then again, there was only cheese and ham on top of it, not much that can go wrong here. Not surprisingly, neither of us ate more than half of the pizza we were served, however, we were not offered to take the left overs with us whatsoever. After we complained about our food the waitress apologised and told us that it was unfortunate. That's all they had to say about it. In short, this was a huge disappointment and they were not able to satisfy us, which is pretty surprising given that we were the only guests in the restaurant at that time!

Bedroevende service! Voor de helft van de prijs aten wij deze week in Steenwijk met een prima en attente service. Geen aanrader.

There's this little known thing between Ireland and England. Barely worth mentioning. It's never really in the news or anything. Moving on. Lots of old Dutch paintings. I like Dutch paintings but I can't say in the pub in Ireland I've ever really thought, this place could really be livened up with some old Dutch masters. Decor verdict: This pub may have suffered a head trauma and is now terribly confused about who it is. The food. Ah, where to begin? I guess Irish food would have been nice. A stew of some sort. An Irish stew, a Beef and Guinness stew or a Coddle. Alas, no. No soda bread on offer either. Potatoes were very typically Dutch. Chips, fried spuds and the shredded salad thing you get in most Dutch restaurants were the sides. Not a boxty, champ or colcannon in sight. Not even some plain old buttery mashed spuds or a roasted vegetable selection. On to the starters. I had that good old Irish classic, bruschetta...... The husband had the prawns. They made me a veggie bruschetta. I don't think it was supposed to be veggie so many thanks for that. I enjoyed it. My husbands prawns were unfortunately a bit overdone so he wasn't so impressed. The mains. I went for the veggie curry. While not Irish we do enjoy a good curry. Unfortunately this was the second cousin twice removed from a good curry. Someone at one point may have waved half a mild chilli vaguely in its direction from two rooms away. It was assorted vegetables in a lot of coconut milk with tomato. Ah, for some chickpeas or paneer...... a girl can dream. I think someone also forgot to add all the spices. Or maybe they ran out of all of them. I can lend them some if they need. I couldn't finish it. On the side was a mound of sweetened cucumber. This left me as confused as the pubs decor. Some spiced Indian potatoes would have been nice or really any indian side. There was naan bread. It was fine not great Now. The reason this place gets an extra star. Pure comedic effect that will make me smile for many years. My husband got the fish and chips. This is a dish beloved of Irish people. Unfortunately there may have been quite the mistranslation. In the container with his battered fish was..... crisps. In Ireland chips are the French fried potato things and crisps are the savory snacks you get in bags of the salt and vinegar, cheese and onion and (in NL) the paprika persuasion. There were chips on the side but they were the standard sides given with every dish. Set in front of my husband on his plate was all the glories of fish and crisps. Still it gave us a good laugh, so full marks for that. To be fair, the fish was good and he liked it but it's not something that pairs very well with the deep fried or baked crunchy potato items generally consumed in front of the tv watching bad films to take your mind off the hour and a half of your life you're wasting. In short, it's a confused place, lacking Irish food for the most part but it's called Flanagan's and serves Guinness and Kilkenny so I guess it's got to be Irish. Oh and the sheep. And the Bailey's bottle lamp. We're fierce mad for a good Bailey's bottle lamp. For a Dutch restaurant it's pretty middling. There would be a lot better Dutch restaurants in the locale. As an Irish restaurant it's a place that sticks pins in a world map and hopes one of them will land close. I'm also available to give lessons in how to pronounce Flanagan's. Van Flanagan's might work better for a name though.

I usually avoid Irish pubs like the plague - they are places of ill repute with vile food and cheap liquor. I'm pleased to report that Flanagan's is not your typical Irish pub. Other than serving Guinness, it is very much a local Dutch restaurant. The food was great. Steak was perfectly cooked - medium rare was medium rare and not medium or medium well done. The prawn starter in garlic was also excellent. All in all a very pleasant experience, albeit a tad expensive - but eating out in the Netherlands is unfortunately an expensive affair.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed 😞 menu card is short - big plus, but products are not home made like they were before, there is not anymore tasty slice of brown bread now is something what they called foccacia but it's kind of flat yeast bread (not baked there) with a lot of spices inside which are killing all tastes around . We took a share plate - please be informed that this price is for one person - 2 sandwiches from this flat bread with goat cheese , some peach jam and prosciutto, 2 toasted bread with hard ham(local product) and dry tomatoes, beetroot carpaccio with rucola , avocado, mixed with too much lemon(yes to keep nice green color),walnut/peanuts spread and some pistachio nuts , another dish was a flat Naan bread with beef carpaccio ( that's local product, which is tasty but it should not be called carpaccio because slices are not thin, they are thick and really chewy ) served with rucola as well and the last what we got was a mustard soup - soup which taste like whipped cream. Summing up our food - there is a lot of difference between what we got now and what we ate before there . No one used salt of pepper, share plate it's not for vegetarian, missed an olive oil , foccacia is bad , like really cheap taste , mustard soup it's too creamy and sweet .. for this price we were expecting home taste, fresh products.. especially that this place is placed between nature, with beautiful views and nice walking area . Hope new owner will look again on his menu and make a tasty meals , not only meals that look perfect on the pictures on social media.

Lovely restaurant and also takeaway. Setting was very pleasant, staff friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. We had one of the four choices of a Rijstaffel, ((Cantonese) , which is starters, 5 smaller mains with choice of fried rice , steam rice or noodles and desert. We did get warm in the seating area by the window so a good job we could take our layers off. Plenty of locals dining plus people collecting their meals. The takeaway was totally separate to diners which was good.

Visited yesterday at da Paolo with a friend. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, enough room between tables, nice relaxing music on the background. Very comfortable chairs too. As a coeliac I must eat gluten free and this was not a problem. The staff was very friendly, efficient and we had the experience of them taking very much care of us and that we could eat the same menu despite my eating restrictions. We chose for the Sicilian menu, which has 7 different appetizers, pasta, main course, dessert and coffee/tea. The food was absolutely superb! Everything was very tasty, fresh and well put together. The balance with flavours was done with such care, it was really impressive! We had risotto instead of pasta (they were out of gluten free pasta at that moment) and I think we were in rare luck as the risotto was absolutely amazing! In the end of the courses we were both very satisfied with the food, service and the atmosphere of the place. This restaurant has everything a customer can hope for. Feeling very welcomed, taken care of , the quality and the taste of the products, the atmosphere. Definitely can recommend! And certainly will be back as a customer again!

Happy dinner is a pretty local establishment with a rather extensive menu. The sushi is of decent quality, tapas is plentiful and other buffet items are of good quality. I had a really disappointing experience at this KFC. First off, they don’t serve coffee, which is surprising and inconvenient for a fast food place. It's fairly common that any new restaurant starts with a great idea, enthusiasm and positivity. Well, Thijs and co excels in all of them.  Not only, in my opinion, have they been able to settle in quite fast and well, but made more impact then many who preceded them. Within a short period of time they managed to attract, and more importantly, keep a loyal custom base. This cannot only be due to the location, as some have tried and failed, so there has to be more, and more there is !.. The management are restauranteurs through and through and you can see this in everything they do. The warm welcome, the service, the eagerness to make sure you feel well and the effort they put in every little detail. Also it's the atmosphere they created with dark warm colours, fire places and "easy listening"music giving you an almost caribbean feeling, especially during warm summer evenings.  Next to that they serve food that is different, surprising, original and tasty. And the cocktails, well, take your time for those as they are able to surprice you with a huge variaty of them. But, as with any new kid on the block it's not flawless. Some dishes are a bit overpriced, as others are great value for money and yes, now and then the service could be a wee better. But that's all work in progress. For now I can only say that this is a new gem in the ever growing choices of restaurants in Emmen. And certainly not one to be missed.
