Barbecue restaurant
Restaurant
Located in Johnson City, TN, The Firehouse is a popular BBQ restaurant and catering service housed in a converted firehouse with a vintage firetruck on display. Originally opened as Bucwood Bar-B-Que in 1980, it was later relocated to the old firehall and rebranded as The Firehouse Restaurant in 1981. This cozy eatery serves hickory-smoked barbecue, homemade sides, desserts, and sweet tea.
Cozy, inviting environment; the decor was well-themed. Happy and helpful staff. The food came out quickly, but it is worth noting this was on a Tuesday evening. The food tasted very fresh and good, and the pricing was fair. It is worth the trip and definitely a unique dining experience.

We stopped by after a long hike and were not disappointed. This is our second time visiting and it will not be our last. The pimento cheese dip is DELICIOUS!! I recommend the smoked Mac n cheese, it is an excellent addition to your main course. 😋
Tom T — Google review
The restaurant had an great interior decor and was clean, even the bathrooms. The staff was dressed neatly, were attentive and friendly. They genuinely seemed to want to make your dining experience pleasurable. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend going one block off the main road to get here. Plenty of parking too
E F — Google review
This was a cute little restaurant I drove by and it had a lot of cars in the parking lot, where all the other places had maybe one or two cars. So, I popped in to try it out. I figured the locals know what’s good here so I followed the herd. The place offers a downstairs, order at the counter option and then go find yourself a seat. Or, a sit down waiter style restaurant upstairs. I chose the upstairs option. All the staff were super polite and very friendly. We asked what their best seller was and the waitress told me it was the pulled pork and then the pulled chicken. We both ordered a chicken dish. Me “the volunteer “ a BBQ grilled chicken breast, on an onion roll bun, with pineapple, lettuce, Swiss cheese and Dave’s mayo. It was delicious. My buddy ordered the pulled chicken with slaw and steak fries. The pulled chicken looked more like chicken strips on a bun. It didn’t come with anything in it, but nose pulled sandwiches don’t. He said it was very good and had no complaints. I did feel his sandwich didn’t look as tasty as mine, but that doesn’t affect the flavor at all. Would I go here again? YES! Would I tell others about it? YES! Did I like the staff and service? Absolutely! 💯 What a great experience.
Tanya W — Google review
Cool place to have lunch with southern hospitality. Food was delicious and service spot on. I had the Carolina Pulled Pork bbq platter with potato salad and smoked Mac & Cheese. Sooo good. Hubby had the Chief burger and he said that was delicious and juicy. Go check it out if you are in town!
Jennie A — Google review
It has been many years since I had last dined here, due to relocating away from the area then moving back. This place has been dishing out some real good food for a real long time! If The Firehouse keeps doing this, it will be there as long as they want it to be.
William P — Google review
Food was great. 1st time there and we enjoyed it. The pimento cheese dip was a knockout . My wife ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs and I ordered the brisket. Your homemade bbq sauce is perfect. We are from NC here on vacation and will come back again. Our hostess Ashley was very helpful and was always checking on us. Great atmosphere
Tony P — Google review
The absolute best service I’ve ever had there, it’s always good but this time it was beyond great; Addie/Addison was absolutely top shelf and my brisket/rib combo was good too….

Label Restaurant, located in Johnson City, is a popular dining spot known for its fantastic food and eclectic atmosphere. The restaurant offers an international menu with options like 40-day dry-aged prime ribeye, freshly made sushi, unique burgers, and hearty entrees such as surf and turf and buttermilk chicken. It's also a great place to enjoy a variety of alcoholic beverages including bourbon selections like E.H Taylor and Pappy Van Winkle flights.
My daughter and I stopped in for a lunch out with our favorite little friend, Houston, the family’s chocolate lab. The server was so kind and accommodating, even offering to bring Houston a bowl and some water. Later, another staff member made a special effort to come out to the patio to love on our little man. The food was wonderful, very tasty and arrived quickly. It was just so nice getting to relax in an environment where you feel comfortable hanging out with family…and your pet!

I enjoyed it overall. Didn't have a reservation, but the hostess found a table for us. My husband had a burger and fries, I had the fish tacos and maple glazed brussel sprouts. The food was lukewarm, but pretty good. The mixed drink I had was good. The atmosphere was very casual. Will try again.
Mary E — Google review
Had a great lunch here while visiting my student at ETSU. I had a blue cheese burger — not a huge burger but was plenty to eat — and the sweet potato fries were incredible. Dusted with some type of sugary spice and dipped in honey mustard — chef’s kiss. We also had the crab ragoon appetizer… so delicious. Others at the table had sushi, filet, and a Reuben. Everyone was thrilled with their meals.
Diane D — Google review
Weeknight dinner stop. The salmon was amazing! If you stop in for lunch or dinner make sure you get the garlic Parmesan fries, you will thank me. The maple glazed Brussel sprouts were too sweet; pass on those and get extra garlic Parmesan fries! The place was pretty full for a Tuesday evening. We did run dry on drinks a couple of times. With that being said the server was friendly and our wait time was short. If you’re in the area it’s worth a visit.

We enjoyed our lunch so much we forgot to take pics!! Recommended appetizers: Pot stickers Crab Rangoons Lamb Lollipops Main Course must haves: Label Sushi Roll Drunken Goat Cheeseburger The Ultimate Burger with Cheese I can genuinely say that it was all fabulous! The service was prompt and excellent. They are lucky to have ALEX!! His knowledge of the menu items and history of the restaurant and restaurant group is impressive. He speaks so highly of the organization and the restaurant, that he sounds like an owner. Location is perfect for the area but we hope one day they will open up a restaurant in Morristown!!!

Label Restaurant in Johnson City is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into a warm, rustic environment where repurposed materials, tasteful wood textures, and thoughtful lighting work together to create an atmosphere that is both inviting and elevated. It’s stylish without being pretentious — relaxed, but still very intentional. General Manager Bailee sets the tone beautifully. Her leadership shows in the way the staff moves — confident, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they’re creating. It’s a young crew, but their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail are impressive. The restaurant was spotless — from the dining floor to the glassware to the bar. Cleanliness was clearly a priority, but it never felt forced or sterile. It simply felt well cared for. As a food photographer, I had the chance to taste and visually study over 25 dishes, and this is where Label truly shines. The kitchen — led by a chef who understands both flavor and aesthetic — delivers plates that are visually composed with intention. The color contrasts, the balance of textures, the careful garnishing — everything appeared camera-ready the moment it hit the table. But behind the beauty is real freshness and flavor. The ingredients tasted vibrant and high-quality; nothing felt processed or heavy-handed. Plates had depth, but also clarity — the kind of food where you can identify every flavor note, yet still enjoy the harmony of the whole dish. The sushi was bright and clean, the proteins were handled with skill, sauces were well-reduced and thoughtfully paired, and even simple sides carried their own character. Label delivers an experience that feels remarkably close to fine dining, but without any of the stiffness or exclusivity. Instead, it’s approachable, warm, and confident — the kind of place where creativity meets comfort. Thank you, Bailee!

We frequent Label at least weekly because we love everything about it. The food and drinks are always great, the servers and host staff are awesome, and the vibe and atmosphere are just what we like after work. I would love to name names, but I am afraid I would forget someone. Everyone there will take the best care of you. Highly, highly recommend

Stopped in for lunch while passing through town. Very nice ambiance in an old downtown building with nice decor. We had the Ultimate cheese burger and paid a little extra for the garlic Parmesan fries and was well worth the small up charge. The service was good sitting at the bar with reasonably priced drinks.

Always a delight. The food is fresh, hot and delicious. The $4 mimosas on Sunday are so yummy. The atmosphere is relaxed but contemporary. Photo of breakfast croissant sandwich and quiche. Both explosions of flavor.

We decided to try this place for lunch today. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and told to sit where we'd like. We picked a seat by the window. The waitress asked if we'd like a water, but didn't give any other options for drinks. After we'd decided on a "brunch menu" item, we were told that's served on a different day and to pick from the lunch menu. It's actually written, albeit very small, the specific times the brunch menu is being served. Our waitress stood there awkwardly while we both decided (again) what we'd like. I made a rushed decision to get a croque monsieur, because the waitress just seemed really busy and ready to take our order. My husband ended up deciding on a chicken sandwich. The food arrived promptly, and was pretty on the plate. Flavor was decent, but honestly everything was overpriced for what we received. The french fries were very hard, and felt like they had been sitting under a warmer. The crust of the bread was almost inedible it was so hard. The atmosphere is clean, and somewhat sophisticated. Some of the decor was questionable. The curtains on the windows make it feel like a Chinese buffet. The bathrooms were very clean.

My wife and I visited for Sunday Brunch. Our first time coming here even though we’ve driven by our entire adult lives. Cannot believe we’ve been missing out this whole time. The restaurant setting, the service, the menu, the food, is all top notch, and exceeded our expectations. My wife got the crab cakes Benedict and I got the chorizo tacos. Again, everything was wonderful!!!
Terrence R — Google review
I've visited here twice for brunch and enjoyed the experience both times. Mimosas are a generous size, come in a variety of flavors, and are surprisingly inexpensive. The food both times I've been has been under seasoned, but once I added salt and pepper, it was delicious. Fantastic biscuits and gravy, which I think can be very difficult for restaurants to really do well. The staff is been very friendly, and the service, while not exceptionally fast, was certainly fast enough for a somewhat leisurely and enjoyable brunch. All in all, I will absolutely return for brunch here.

My wife (Sandra) and I enjoyed going to Café LoLa for quite some time, so much so, we made a tradition of going there several years ago to enjoy a nice meal in celebration of our anniversary. Nearly two years ago, Sandra was called home to the kingdom of Heaven by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Last year I decided I would continue the tradition we started; this is the second year I celebrated our anniversary by going to Café LoLa. I ordered the same meals we both enjoyed, the last time we were there together, eating hers and taking mine home. I was blessed to (again) have the same server (Elliott (sp?)). This was not by chance, God’s will was done here by blessing me in this still difficult time with a friendly and familiar face. Elliott even remembered Sandra’s order (Chilean Sea Bass)….Can you believe that?!?! The atmosphere, food, and staff have always been great and I have to say Elliott’s service was outstanding (same as last year). What an enjoyable experience again this year and the icing on the cake was the second time being served by Elliott. Thank you Café LoLa for another wonderful anniversary dinner. God Bless y’all.

This place is a little quirky. I like that they have 2 dining rooms and almost seems like they have their own ambiance. We usually opt for the back bar. Service was good. I had a specialty martini which was good but missed the wow factor. Also got the chocolate souffle which was wonderful. Would definitely splurge on that again!

Really awesome! Went there for brunch last week and totally had our minds blown! I don’t eat Brussels Sprouts but I got the hash and I was absolutely impressed. Our server was super awesome, kept our drinks full, very polite made nice small talk. 100% going to go back, SOON. Thank you!

We were visiting from Asheville and came upon this wonderful gem. Lunch was delicious; quiche was delicious as were the croissant sandwich and glazed tofu and the service was excellent. We had to try desserts as well and they were wonderful. The crème brûlée and the flourless cake were exceptional. We will be back!

Such a wonderful experience! This place has been around for years, with good reason. The service was great, food was delicious...the mountcastle croissant with truffle fries was incredibly delicious and the desserts were amazing, especially the peach creme brulee with blueberry whipped cream and pistachio brittle. The bananas foster was a close second. I can't wait to go back!

GREAT fine dining experience in JC. Our waitress was Lauren and she was wonderful! Drinks were excellent as well. Portions were small compared to other restaurants in the area, but the flavor makes up for it. The dessert was actually my favorite! Give this place a try if you haven't already.

Excellent dining experience. Truly a wonderful evening. Dishes were wonderfully curated. Menu is a little light on options, but always have multiple options we love. Have eaten at bar and table, and all the staff are pleasant and professional.

My partner and I have been here about 5 times now and we just can’t get enough. The daily artisan bread and butter to start with is phenomenal. I can’t wait to try the local cast iron cornbread. For dinner, I ordered the pan roasted chicken and my oh my, compliments to the chef for one of the juiciest and most flavorful chicken breast my pallet has ever experienced. My partner ordered the grass fed beef Filet Mignon with steak sauce. Very carefully thought out with exquisite flavors and cooked to perfection. I love that every menu item is locally sourced ingredients. That means you can trust the food you’re eating . Parmesan Gnocchi and fresh butternut squash puree are also phenomenal . I enjoyed the Old Fashioned the bartender crafted for me. Very unique and tasty. My partner gets the Sweet tea every single time!! 10/10 recommend we will keep visiting . Shout out to our waitress, Rachael. She is a sweetheart and very professional. Kept our drinks full the entire time without hovering. She took our leftovers to the back and prepared our take home for us. We truly enjoy Gourmet & Co. See you again soon!!

The wife and I went in for drinks and appetizers before going to an event. The drinks were excellent, the bar tenders were amazing and the food was the highlight of our entire evening. We will be going back for a proper date night to experience the entrees, as well. A must try is the ice cream. The three flavors is a lot to eat but worth having a variety!

We treated our parents to an Anniversary dinner tonight. This was so wonderful! I called for reservations, preordered everything for them with wonderful assistance in selecting the perfect combination for them. They even accepted delivery of flowers and had them on the table for their arrival. My parents were treated so well by all and they raved about the food and service. Thank you for all your help! This cozy restaurant boasts a welcoming atmosphere perfect for casual dining or larger family gatherings. Guests can indulge in an array of Mediterranean delights, including mouthwatering gyros, savory kebabs, and delectable pitas.
Yum for days. Great food is hard to find. Finding it wrapped in warm welcome by the owner and great service by the staff is much harder to find. Red Meze is a delicious stop for any traveler or local. We enjoyed our time there immensely from the Turkish coffee to the lovely variety of offerings on the menu. The pictures tell the story. Everything was excellent.

Great atmosphere, seated quickly and they have a great staff. Had the lamb gyro, it was huge and relatively inexpensive. The taziki sauce was on point. Would recommend.

BEST MED FOOD IN JC!!!!! The iskender kabob is my personal favorite. The meat was tender and fatty while the yogurt and tomato created a great balance of acidic and creamy! Very deliciousa if i must say so myself. Def comin back if in town Sidenote: Turkish coffee is a must get for coffee lovers 4.6/5
Joey G — Google review
Good food, but a bit pricey for what you get. Plate of couscous, hummus and gyro and a single serving of Turkish coffee was $30. For that price you can find a lot better locations and better atmosphere. Really didn’t think the prices are very good
Scott M — Google review
Wow, excellent food! I ordered a Meze bowl with hummus, chicken and fresh veggies, topped with tzatziki sauceand it was delicious! Sat on the patio which has been added since I was here last and really enjoyed the whole experience. Finished the evening with a yummy piece of baklava. I highly recommend you try Red Meze; you won't be disappointed.
Amy K — Google review
I really want to love this place, but every-time we go it’s always something. On their online menu ordering service it shows a picture of a gyro with French fries. You’re paying $10 for this gyro. I’ll attach the picture to this review. I was told French fries don’t come with when I’m pretty sure a side used to come with it? Pretty misleading don’t you think? Also ordered a $10 order of hummus and pita bread and I counted how many tiny little pita slices they give you and it was FIVE. So with an 8 oz hummus you give 5 tiny squares of pita? Sounds like you’re skimping the customers out and charging high prices. Cannot justify paying $30 for 2 gyros and hummus with 5 pieces of pita. Absolutely ridiculous. The last time I came I ordered baklava and got charged $6 for THE TINIEST square of baklava it was LAUGHABLE. This place used to be great, with appropriate portions for the price. Now they are 10x more expensive and give you the least they can get away with. Called to complain and the guy basically told me it was my fault that I was mislead by his online ordering app with the pic of the gyro and fries on it. What a shame. Won’t be back.

Barbecue area
Southern Craft BBQ is a popular urban eatery located at Watauga Lakeshore Resort in Johnson City. This barbecue restaurant and brewery offers a delectable menu featuring smoked beef brisket, bourbon smoked salmon, burgers, and homemade sauces. The restaurant opened in 2017 and has become a favorite casual dining spot for locals and visitors alike. Guests can enjoy warm service, delicious Southern food, and spectacular views of the lake.
Came here on a Monday night and was seated right away. Placed had a decent amount of people for a Monday. Service was gold all throughout. True southern hospitality. Came for the southern comforts and was not disappointed. Fried chicken was crispy and huge, the pork was moist, the greens seasoned great. Unfortunately I had to leave the toast on the plate. It was a lot of food!

Wow, this place was incredible. I’m a self-proclaimed BBQ connoisseur and this is one of the best BBQ restaurants I’ve been to. For me, the gold standard is Southern Soul BBQ on St Simon’s Island and Southern Craft is very comparable. I had the burnt ends sandwich with tots and my wife had her usual of pork sandwich with fries. Each were served with a small side of slaw. I had a Thunder Pig IPA that was delicious. Overall, this was a great experience and the service was excellent.
Pete D — Google review
The best bbq I’ve ever had and I’m a bbq snob. The smoked chicken was so moist and the skin was so flavorful and crisp! Sweet tea was perfect and sweet potato casserole was awesome too. Collards were so good they would make your tongue slap your forehead! We will definitely be visiting again!

We had a fantastic experience at Southern Craft BBQ in Johnson City! We came in with a big group, 9 people and 2 dogs, and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The receptionist even asked the manager if we could sit inside, but we opted for the patio to make it easier on everyone. They were super kind and flexible about it. Our waitress, Alison, was prompt, attentive, and so friendly throughout the visit. On top of the great service, the food and drinks were absolutely incredible. Everything we ordered was full of flavor, and the drink menu had some awesome options that hit the spot. Definitely one of the best BBQ spots around! We’ll be back for sure!
Micah P — Google review
While in town for Funfest, we stopped by Southern Craft's food truck for dinner before a concert. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the pork nachos, and everything was excellent. The flavors were spot-on, and the quality of the food really stood out. The team working the food truck was just as impressive. They were friendly, efficient, and had everything running like a well-oiled machine, even during the busy rush. It made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Southern Craft was a highlight of our evening—great food, great service, and a perfect way to kick off the night!

Appetizer tater tot pork things with queso, the tots were not cooked, super soft and cold, they should call it soggy bottom queso with pork shreds. Seated super fast, drinks came out the waitress was over attentive, offered drinks to only those that were empty, no silly by the time you get back I will need a refill, too! Got the trinity with burnt ends, brisket, smoke sausage. Burnt ends had a sauce on it I could have swore it had liquid smoke. Sausage was ok, the brisket was slightly better than ok. I truly hope they do not use liquid smoke, it is unhealthy and made with compounds with PAH's. Overall I do not think we will go back. Too much in the air whether they use liquid smoke. We ate for lunch and about 7pm I started feeling sick, hubby was sick later that night. Overall stomachs messed up and gurgly.

Delicious BBQ and desserts! We ordered nearly all proteins for sampling, a variety of sides as well as the Nanna Puddin and Peanut Butter Pie. All was amazing! Def worth a stop in
Megan C — Google review
My son and I stopped in for dinner after his baseball game. It was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by the hostess and sat immediately at a high top on the other side of the bar. There were 4-5 TVs showing bras all and other sporting events. I love bbq and brisket so this was my happy place. My son had a burger with bbq pork on it that was amazing. I had a burnt ends sandwich and I couldn’t have been happier. The meat was tender, flavorful and full of juice. The sides are always the key to an incredible bbq place and theirs did not disappoint. The Mac and cheese was like grandmas and the collard greens had just the right amount of vinegar and spices. And the Cole slaw was homemade deliciousness. The bar was stocked with several hard to find bourbons and other spirits. And of course, this bbq place has its own in-house brewery. I had the brown ale and it was smooth. Our server Murphy was pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was intentionally rustic. Wood siding, exposed firewood, metal signage and not too bright. I can’t wait to go back. Maybe I’ll try the Butchers Block with all the meats.

Pizza restaurant

Italian restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience in Johnson City, look no further than The Main Street Pizza Company. This charming eatery specializes in gourmet hand-crafted pizzas that are sure to satisfy any craving. With a diverse menu that also includes subs, salads, and pasta, there's something for everyone.
Yes, it's called the "pizza company" but the real stars at this place are on the other side of the menu! Don't get me wrong, the pizza is good but the attention to detail in flavor on the rest of the menu is amazing and honestly, I wasn't expecting it. Even a simple dish like the cheese bread packs a flavorful punch I was not anticipating from something that seemed so standard on an Italian menu and I only ordered it the first time to keep the kids happy. My favorite feature however is the seasonal menu. All of their dishes, right down to each sauce, is made with fresh and perfectly in season ingredients that come from the local area so the seasonal menu are dishes created with ingredients that are at the perfect freshness. You can taste the passion in the ingredients and from what we heard, a lot of it comes straight from the owners personal farm. By the way! I love a good chicken wing and finding anything decent is always a challenge. Most wings are fatty, soggy and soaked in bottled sauces that don't really leave much of an impression. But not these wings! They were perfectly crispy, juicy, and you have to get them with the sweet Sriracha lime sauce. Trust me! The Buffalo is fine but this sauce makes them absolute magic. Because of the freshness, flavor, and oh did I mention the most amazing beer selection! From rich dark peanut buttery ports to fresh peach and creamy vanilla. If you want a new adventure in beer, taste anything they have on their draft board. This place is now our favorite spot in Johnson City for a family meal or lunch time craving. The owner has done a wonderful job putting his passion on a plate.

We loved our pizza! We like pan pizza and have struggled finding a place in tri cities that fit the bill but this one was pretty dang close! We had the cheese sticks, which I almost preferred over the pizza. I loved the garlic flavor! The cheese was thick and gooey! We had the carnivore medium pizza and it was great! Loved the toppings esp the large pepperonis. Service was good maybe a little slow but it was after the Sunday lunch crowd so understandable. Tap beer could be colder but they had a good selection. I enjoyed the smaller cozy feel of the place and look forward to going back!

Surprisingly flavorful food. The pesto on the pizza was especially tasty but the chicken in the pasta had a little bit of a gamey taste. Wings were topnotch and blue cheese dipping sauce was excellent. Location was pretty good and nice customer service. Also many kinds of local beers. Overall it’s good.

So when I first saw this place I tried to visit a coffee shop nextdoor instead but to my surprise I was never even taken care of after waiting a while at the coffee shop with my ESA pup. We just finished driving for a couple hours and I needed water, ice, and some food to keep us going for the next long drive we had back home. I called and asked if we could get someone to help us in seating outdoors or any seating that is pet friendly. They said of course and we were taken care of right away. We ate a late lunch here. My waiter McKinna P and their team gave us all the attention we were needing that left us really happy. The amount of flavor packed in such fresh food was AMAZING! I ordered the chicken Alfredo with a salad and the garlic bread that came with it all was absolutely delicious (was able to take the amount I didn't eat home with it being such a big serving size). I'm gonna try visiting again but with my husband with how good this food is (I really want to try their pizza next). They also had some non alcoholic options that were yummy (I had the summer wind), perfect for such a hot day. Adding photos for reference :)

Felt like we were sitting in the hallway, not inside the restaurant. I ordered the loaded chicken fettuccine alfredo. It was okay but a little dry. Service was the best part of this experience. Our waitress was attentive and very good at her job.

Awesome place! Staff was very nice and service was good. Love the old building. They make their own sauces for the chicken wings and they make homemade ice cream. Chicken wings were excellent. Pizza was great. My wife ordered a side salad and it was huge. Wish there was a closer one to us in NC. We will definitely be back if ever passing through again.

Great establishment. Lots of alcohol available. The front door is a bit odd, you enter what looks like the lobby of a building and then they show you inside. I got a Buffalo chicken pizza, it was yummy yummy. It was well made, clearly the kitchen staff care.

Food was amazing. We got the pesto sauced pizza and the chickpeas and it was scrumptious. Really beautiful place. Server was so kind.

German restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of downtown Johnson City, Freiberg's is a delightful haven for those craving authentic German cuisine. This charming restaurant brings the flavors of Germany to Tennessee, offering a menu filled with classic dishes inspired by the owners' hometown of Freiberg. Each meal is crafted from scratch, showcasing traditional recipes that take hours to prepare, ensuring every bite reflects genuine culinary heritage.
Went for the Chicken Schnitzel lunch special and was not disappointed. Hard to beat all this for $6.99! I got it with the fried potatoes and red cabbage. Both were really good. The servers were attentive and the atmosphere was peaceful. You can sit next to the windows upstairs and have a nice view of the Downtown streets.

A fun old building. Great environment. The food sounded outstanding but we found all the dishes were too salty, way too salty. If not for that the food would have been perfect from the Stuffed Cabbage, mashed potatoes, beef stew type dish amount others. The waitress was " ok". Not very polite or helpful. She seemed not to want to be there or preoccupied. The wait staff is often the first impression so .. Menu selection and pricing are good.
Dee S — Google review
It has been a minute since I ate some good German food. The food was great and the portions were plentiful. All the food we ate tasted like authentic German food. The only thing I wish they had was some good German mustard. The waitress was very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant is in a old building, they need to invest in some repairs and a fresh update. Otherwise, I will be back when I am in the area.

Stopped by for lunch and experienced great food and service. I recommend the purple cabbage side dish. I'll be coming back soon. Lunch specials are delicious and easy on the 💵 wallet. A few things to note: 1) brats do not come with a bun. I assume that's an American thing, and this is a classic German fare restaurant. 2) The mugs for the drinks are heavy! You'll get a workout🏋️, lol. 3) it can be loud when it's busy, the hardwood floors and brick walls do not muffle the sound. 4) ♿⚠️There is a seating area upstairs as well as downstairs, and there is a step required to enter the building. Strollers any wheelchair access will need some assistance getting inside. 5) park across the street, beware the ⬅️ one way streets!

Little slow on start up with getting drinks and such, but pretty good afterwards, the food was yummy! I got this german brisket (Rindfleisch - Sauer Braten) it was good! The fried sandwich was good my cousin said also!

Server was very nice and did her job. She let us know that they were understaffed but she did fine. The Brat was ok, sort of dried out. Potatoes were pretty much tasteless and soft. Sauerkraut was good as was the Purple cabbage. The schnitzel was tender but not particularly flavorful. The prices were very good for the amount of food. They could just up the seasoning. It was sort of like German hospital food. Maybe we got there at the wrong time of day for the lunch food to be up to par or something.

Wonderful authentic German food in a building that screams Germany. Wonderful atmosphere. Cloe was a wonderful wait staff

If you’re looking for authentic German cuisine, look no further—this place is as authentic as it gets! The food is absolutely delicious. We loved it so much that we came back two days in a row. The service was excellent, especially at the bar, where we had some great conversations with the staff. They gave us spot-on recommendations, and everything we tried was phenomenal. The pretzels are soft, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Whether you’re in the mood for burgers, sandwiches, or schnitzel, you simply can’t go wrong here. Pair your meal with an ice-cold stein of beer for the full experience. The décor is also on point—it really sets the mood and feels like you’ve stepped into a cozy German beer hall. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant

Taco restaurant
White Duck Taco Shop is situated in a historical train depot adjacent to Yee-Haw Brewing. Customers can indulge in their delectable tacos and then stroll over to the taproom for a wide selection of beers, including their exceptional Dunkel. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating options. The brewery itself is noteworthy, making it an ideal complement to the flavorful tacos served at White Duck Taco Shop.
If you don’t like flavor then this is not for you. Nice place to fulfill your gastronomic needs. Atmosphere is happening with outside seating.
J. D — Google review
I tried a few different tacos and all of them were cold and virtually flavorless. The tortillas were cold, as well as the protein. The sauces were barely distinguishable from each other because there was so little. The apps were really plain as well. Everything tasted like it came off a cold bar, reminded me of hospital food. I looked at some other reviews and it seems like they skimped on my table’s orders for some reason, we got way smaller portions than average.
Dani F — Google review
All the tacos are à la carte, either 4.75 or 5 bucks. They always have adventurous flavor profiles. I’ve not experienced a bad meal here, and Yee Haw is next door. Beer and live music most every night.
Samuel H — Google review
This is our favorite go-to place! Food is great, beer is great (Yee-Haw Beer is in the same building), and the atmosphere is great! We're able to relax while the kids have a little bit of space to mess around outside. When it's cold and the fire is going it's the best!
Adam M — Google review
Fun food! This was our second visit to White Duck/YeeHaw Brewing Co. Pretty consistent on the selection, great service and taste. Was there for Labor Day Sunday during the car show and had no problems getting a seat inside. Flights of beer were tasty and environment was perfect. Lots of outdoor seating was available although we chose to sit inside under the giant fans. I’m sure we will return once again! Bathroom was totally clean and service was quick and very friendly!
Kimberly L — Google review
Some of the tacos are fantastic but others are not that great. I'd eat there again, but I'd definitely make sure you pay attention to what you are getting.

Great variety of tacos and pleasant service. Great environment. We had shrimp and grits taco as well as a generally tso's chicken taco, both hit the spot. We wished we came hungrier so we could have tried more tacos and queso
Michael T — Google review
The place was great, plenty of space to sit and enjoy the meal. I had the shrimp cucumber taco, and let me just say it was fabulous. General tso chicken taco, Delicious. They have outdoor sitting area around huge gas fire pit. Hee Yaw brewery inside white duck tacos. Big screen TV for game time. Couches to lay back on and just enjoy a place like home. The food is great, and the brewery is refreshing. Sure, I'd like to stop in again when I'm in the area. Had a great time.

Nestled within the elegant Carnegie Hotel, Wellington's Restaurant is a true culinary gem that brings Southern-inspired cuisine to life with a modern twist. This upscale dining destination offers an inviting atmosphere, complete with dim lighting and terrace seating that sets the stage for memorable meals. Guests can indulge in hearty breakfast options like fluffy pancakes or innovative dishes such as an English Muffin Croque Madame.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here while away on business. Such a great experience! Our service was fantastic! The food and wine were perfect! We couldn’t have had a better experience. If you’re in the Johnson City area, you have to give Wellington’s a try!
Chris M — Google review
Plus- atmosphere is great, our server was really nice, wine & cocktail was good, mushrooms were awesome! Cons- quality of food didn’t match the price tag. 4 oz filet $28, asked for medium rare but more rare came out medium and was so small and pitiful looking I couldn’t believe it was $28! Husband had the 8 oz filet and it was cooked properly. The quality of the meat was not that of a $28 & $40 steak. When they brought the second steak it was cooked a perfect rare plus. We also had the deviled eggs & wedge salad both were just okay in my opinion. Cesar dressing was strangely twangy, Benton’s bacon on eggs was overcooked and overpowering. Overall our opinion is we would not go back because the quality of service and food did not match that of a $150 bill (before tip). If a steak comes out overcooked at that price tag and I had to wait at least 20 mins for new steak to come out then I’d expect something to be offered, like a fresh side, a glass of wine or a dessert, but nothing was offered except a sorry, same thing I would have gotten at Texas road house.
Jan A — Google review
While visiting the area was wanting a steak, was local for local not your chain restaurants. Found this place on google had mixed reviews but gave it ago. Wife and I both ordered Filet, I had fries she had sweet potatoes. I gave them a 4 for several reason. Steak came out almost well done and we ordered medium, server never did a table check until we where nearly done eating, the manager comped our meals which we appreciated but the manager on duty never came out to address the issue. Just hard to give 5 stars, when I am paying $50 per steak we get this kind of service. Although we will say even though steak was over cooked it still had good flavor and the sides were really good. If I am ever back in the area again I will give them another shot

Overall 5 STAR DINING EXPERIENCE!! Our party of five celebrated a milestone birthday at " Wellington's " recently. " Alicia" and " Heather " ; who are part of the Events Team there could not have been more helpful, professional or wonderful. The ambience offered at " Wellington's " provided the perfect atmosphere for our small gathering. The fireplace and room appointments all make for a very special surrounding , both inviting and memorable. Our server " Emily " was exceptional! Her knowledge, professionalism and attentiveness to our table was superb! She was attentive, without being persistent. The food selections we had were incredible! The " Reconstructed Wellington " is something that words cannot adequately describe. All one can do is highly recommend it to others to experience for themselves. No one will be disappointed with it. The Salmon equally was very good. The appetizers, especially the Deviled Eggs, were absolutely delicious. The only ( and I mean Only) criticism our party had was with the salads. For some reason they just fell short of measuring up to Everything else we selected. Kudos to " Wellington's" Staff, Chef, and Management, for a well run, wonderful Restaurant. I hope they realize how fortunate they are to have " Heather, Emily and Alicia " on their team. All are Very Good at making the guest feel welcome, appreciated and satisfied. A +++++++ To anyone who has Not Yet treated themselves to a Dining Experience at " Wellington's " do yourselves a favor and try it soon. You will NOT be disappointed.

Service was great! Disappointed in getting a $60 dry aged NY strip steak that tasted like it has no seasoning on it. Plus the sides were just warm and not hot. The restaurant was not busy so there should be no excuse. Seemed like the staff hyped up the chef's desserts rather than the main dishes. If I go to a place called wellingtons, I want a great main dish. Probably won't come back because i think it's overpriced for the quality of food you get.

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner for my birthday. This restaurant in Johnson City has a majestic yet romantic look and feel. It is so beautiful! I would definitely return!

The deconstructed Wellington was excellent. My fillet was prepared perfectly The dessert was outstanding. The atmosphere was very nice. With exceptional decor. Our waitress (Alicia) was superb! Many times in upscale restaurants I find servers to be too stuffy. She was outstanding! Very professional and yet friendly and witty at the same time. I would definitely recommend this fine experience to anyone.

If you're on the hunt for a casual dining experience that caters to both meat lovers and plant-based eaters, look no further than Mid City Grill. This beloved diner in Johnson City has been delighting locals since 2003 with its mouthwatering burgers and an impressive array of vegan options. Whether you’re craving a hearty "Death by Bacon" burger or a fresh, vibrant salad, Mid City Grill has something for everyone.
Locally owned restaurant that I had not heard of but sure am glad I have. My priority is to eat local and support local. This restaurant has the quality of the bigger chain restaurants but small town feel. We went there at lunch time and it had a lot of patrons there and two big tables where kids were eating. The Anya out waitress is very kind, respectful and helpful and knew what the specialties were and helping everyone. I had the 8oz Cheeseburger and fries. It was excellent it wasn’t a frozen block of meat preformed and thawed it was fresh ground beef and fresh tomatoes and onion and pickles. The fries were crisp and the bottle of ketchup was name brand not the cheaper brand that some use. My wife ordered the Philly cheese sandwich and it was huge and very tasty. The bread was fresh. Very positive atmosphere the food hot when we received it. The area was clean and plenty of space to sit. O and the appetizer Fried Pickles are the bomb. And a whole menu for vegetarians which I found to be a big plus for others who want that kind of food. A lot of space for Parking and is close to the front door

First time at this restaurant after reading many reviews. It will not be our last time! Mid City Grill season forget about fancy and focus on food and service. However, we really liked the feeling of this place. We had the Outlaw Burger with fries and the Patty Melt with sweet potato waffle fries. The way they put flavors together is fantastic. This is easily a place where you can take half of your meal home for later. We will definitely return to work our way through the menu.

This is very much a lived in, grungy little place, but not in a bad way! It has character, and is well-loved and lived in, but it isn't unclean. I absolutely loved the vibes from the moment I walked in. Our server was very friendly and timely, and I loved her style. She very much fit the vibe of the place. The food was absolutely fantastic. We got the fried cheese trio appetizer, and as a connoisseur of fried cheese, I can tell you these items were some of the best I've ever had, especially the cheese curds. This starter also comes with fried cheese ravioli and jalapeño poppers. For the main course we both ended up getting the Appalachia burger, which had a patty, cheddar cheese, pulled pork, bacon, onion rings, and garlic aioli. It was insane, but boy was it delicious. And the fries are some of the best I have ever had. The best thing about them is they are open really late, at least on weekends (that's how we found ourselves there!) Definitely recommend if you are craving burgers! I can't vouch for the vegan/vegetarian/gluten free items on the menu, but it looked like they also have a decent selection of those items, which was great to see!

Cootie Brown's Campus is a vibrant culinary destination in Johnson City that has been captivating food lovers since 1999. This eclectic eatery boasts an impressive menu filled with gourmet fire-roasted pizzas, authentic tamales, succulent steaks, and fresh salads, all influenced by a delightful mix of Jamaican, New Orleans, Mexican, Italian, and American flavors. With three locations across East Tennessee—including one in Bristol—Cootie Brown's ensures there's something to satisfy every palate.
Decided to check this out for lunch on a Thursday. No wait, attentive service, and good atmosphere. I got the Cobb Salad, which was fresh & delicious! They also do draft buckets (flights) for $7 on Thursdays. Good selection of local fare. Would recommend!

This was one of our favorite places to eat while in Johnson City Tennessee! The location we visited was across from ETSU. The service we received was excellent. Our servers introduced themselves with a smile and were delighted to provide recommendations since we were new to the Cootie Brown experience. Food was so delicious and the portions were more than we could eat in one setting. I also made sure to try their famous Key-lime pie, and it did not disappoint. It’s such a fun atmosphere, and the artwork around the place was great too!

My goodness, their homemade chips are delicious and their tamales are outstanding. Their menu is a vast majority of options from southern comforts to Mexican food with mole and a really good verde gravy. Their servings are massive and they are directly outside the campus for easy access to ETSU and the dome and football stadium. I really enjoyed their food. The staff was pretty good too and they have a super large cake selection and dessert section that looks great.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the wonderful dining experience I had recently. It was one of the best dinners I've had in a long time. First time here visiting from Tampa FL...food was delicious atmosphere was perfect...I ordered a goat cheese burger with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach with a side of Roasted Artichoke and Sauteed Spinach It was amazing...the menu was fantastic, I also ordered a half Wood Burner Pizza...tomato sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, Spinach, mozzarella, goat cheese and ricotta cheese. Torrie was my beautiful server and sweet Oliva delivered my food. They were both perfect for additions to this restaurant...kind, knowledgeable, very accommodating, and very helpful ... this Best Burger I've had in a very long time ... they need to open a Cootie Browns in Tampa!!!

We went here for lunch before a band competition. They had just opened so it wasn't very crowded. The server was awesome. She was very friendly and service was very fast. The spiral potato chips were perfectly cooked with none that were soggy. The ranch that came with it was good as well. The beef tamale tasted great. The chicken and chili and cheese were fine. The barbecue beans were good. Unfortunately, the dry rub ribs had very little flavor in the dry rub and were a little bit dry overall. The barbecue sauce has a good amount of vinegar which is not my favorite style. We were too full for dessert. Next time I may need to try the wet ribs just in case but there are better ribs in Tennessee.

Nestled in the heart of Johnson City, TN, Timber offers a dining experience that transports you to a national park or summer camp with its charming decor and inviting atmosphere. Guests can choose to dine at cozy indoor tables or opt for an enchanting outdoor setting under canvas tents—perfect for enjoying your favorite tunes while savoring delicious meals.
I've been dining at Timber for many years...back when you had to scan a QR code to see the menu and reservations weren't required. I'm happy to see they've continued to thrive despite covid and road work that never seems to end, but I miss those days. This time around my family & I ordered the Hot Honey Popcorn Chicken which paired wonderfully with the House-made Ricotta, Broccolini & Sourdough Bread. The Smash Burger with Handcut Fries never disappoints! In my opinion, it's the best tasting burger in JC. We didn't have any cocktails this time but when we have, they've been unique, tasty and definitely boozy. To finish off the night, we had my favorite; Housemade Smoked Vanilla Ice Cream...HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My son had the Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta and said it was light & yummy. All of us looked forward to this night & it was worth the wait The food is always consistently fresh & delicious, our server was attentive and informative & we love the restaurant vibe.
Cam K — Google review
This is probably the best restaurant in JC. The vibes are immaculate! The drinks are amazing and unique, and the food is AMAZING. They have small, medium and large plates and some are very unique, but they also have something for picky eaters (burger, chicken sandwich, etc). Some of the menu rotates but the staples stay. I highly recommend eating here. Reservations highly recommended but can get seats at the bar as well.
Marissa W — Google review
Where do I start? As first-timers, we were mortified to see the perfect view of the kitchen from half the tables in the dining room. We felt fortunate that we were NOT seated at those tables. We were again surprised at the menus printed on plain colored paper and the paper napkins, given what we had read about the restaurant and its offerings. I had already made up my mind and mentioned to my husband that, no matter how good the food was, I did not expect to want to come back. But then we tasted the food! I'll be updating this post when I get home, but suffice it to say that the food was worth every penny and then some, as was the incredible service. We shared starters and small plates, starting with Warm Stuffed Dates which were to die for. We followed with Smoked Trout Spread that I could have made a meal of all by itself. The Beef Tartare was amazing as well. We finished with the Smashed Cucumbers which was wonderful, but it turned out to be a LOT of cucumber by the time we finished it, as we could NOT stop eating! The only disappointment to us was the S'mores Sundae, which for the most part was just a matter of taste, except that what little amount of marshmallow creme they used was blackened beyond being edible. The smoky flavor of the vanilla ice cream was too odd for someone who had just eaten smoked trout. I must stress that, aside from the marshmallow ash, the sundae was just a matter of taste and would likely appeal to most people who might order it. We had no doubt that had we said something, they would have fixed it with a smile on their face, as the service was truly exceptional as well. The Spirits List was diverse, truly having something for everyone. We are likely to be back to enjoy drinks and small plates yet again soon! Highly, highly, highly recommend Timber!!

Highly recommend reservations! This is a small but great place. The warm stuffed dates and fried green tomatoes are AMAZING. They also have wonderful cocktails and popcorn chicken. Our waitress was Billie and she was wonderful.

After a few people got here. It got a little loud cuz the service was great. Food was delicious. We ate item prepared in a way we don't normally eat. My only complaint a little bit a long time between the 3rd and 4th course. There's a nice seating area out back. Each dish is chef prepared to perfection. It's not get your food out of a pot and slap it on a plate.
JEFF M — Google review
We were in Johnson City a few weeks ago and had the foresight to make reservations at Timber! Now we can’t get the place out of our heads. Blame the butternut squash soup. It’s the kind of bowl that resets your compass. It was robust, earthy, and layered. One spoonful and I knew I was ruined for other soups. We live far away; that’s the tragedy. This soup still lives rent-free in my head. We ran the table with small, medium, and one large plate. Each was built by someone who respects ingredients, heat, time, and seasoning. The textures snapped together like a well-built puzzle. The room itself was large, but shoulder-to-shoulder and loud, and that’s fine by me. I didn’t want a library. I wanted a place where the staff and kitchen worked like they meant it. The drinks weren’t decoration; they pulled their own weight. The bar knew its business. We told them what we liked, and they steered with confidence. The service had that rare combination of ease and intent: plates landed hot, nobody explained the obvious, and nobody disappeared. Exactly what a restaurant should strive for. We left full, and then spent the next few weeks lamenting a simple fact: we may never have a bowl of butternut squash soup this good again, not without a plane ticket. If you’re anywhere near Johnson City, go. Book a table. Let the kitchen talk. That soup will follow you home.

The staff is so friendly and welcoming and the food is DIVINE. The mushroom tartine was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Thank you for the suggestion, Robert!

Interesting menu but unfortunately three of the four dishes were not good, either over spiced or way too much sugar/honey. The burger is excellent. I don’t recommend. Service and atmosphere nice.

Pal's Sudden Service is a well-established fast-food chain that has been serving delicious burgers, hot dogs, fries, and breakfast items since 1956. It is highly regarded by locals in the Tri-Cities region for its high-quality and flavorful food. Notably, Pal's Sudden Service was one of the first two chain restaurants in the United States to receive the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for its commitment to excellence.
Best pals location in northeast Tennessee! Drive thru workers are very nice every time I have ever gone to this location! Can’t say the same for some of the other locations. The pals burgers are the best fast food burgers you can get especially for the price. The architecture of the building is essentially entire menu. Creates an absolutely groundbreaking atmosphere! 5/5!!!

First time. Ordering was very fast and simple. They keep a tight menu. Got a double with cheese and seasoned fries. Out quick and very hot! HUGE burger!Tastes fantastic, far better than I was expecting! The price is reasonable tho not cheap and the food is actually worth it! Try this place, I came wake to go back next time I'm near one! Best burger for the money, gotta spend a lot more to beat this thing. 9/10.

What a local gem! Fries were crispy and flavorful - like McDonald’s fries but with a special seasoning added. No ketchup needed. Also tried the sauce-burger and it was oozing a flavorful tomato based sauce that was deliciously tangy. My total was just $5 and change. Drive thru was amazingly fast. A must-stop in East Tennessee!

Burger was a little salty this time but usually love getting no bun pals and plain hotdogs for the toddlers. Staff is always super friendly and generous. Ingredients are usually super fresh
Marianna F — Google review
Employees were very nice and had a good attitude but the food wasn't the best. We ordered two big pals a Jr pal and a LG Frenchie Fry. Our burgers tasted like the salt shaker was dropped on them and our fries were pretty disappointing not quite full and they were not very fresh. I only live just a few mins away and can understand that they may get cool but not ice cold and soggy.

This is a drive thru only restaurant, so there is no seating. We got two coney dogs, shake and a drink. Yummy!
Melissa G — Google review
Oh, my gawd! The burger I had was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time from a fast food restaurant! I was not disappointed at all. The meat was seasoned well and those patties were a good size. The double Big Pal just puts the poor pathetic Big Mac and Whopper to shame! It will fill you up! If you have a big appetite that is the way to go but if you don't you should go the regular Big Pal route. The Frenchie fries were awesome. The seasoned salt is a nice touch. The only issue I had was that the lady forgot my straw for my large Peachie Tea! I ran back to the window and she gave me one with no issues. And yes, the tea was good! Overall good experience at Pal's! I will be eating there again when I am back in the Tri-Cities area! And another thing, why aren't they everywhere?!?!? They really should think about expanding into other areas and states. I think a Pal's would do well no matter the city or town! Just saying! 😁😁😁
Christopher T — Google review
Reasonably fast. I've been wanting to visit Pal's since I first heard of them. After living out west for years, it was nice ordering a hot dog and it comes with all of the correct ingredients, standard: mustard, chili, and onions. Too bad we don't have these in NC.

Sahib Indian Cuisine is a delightful gem nestled in Johnson City, where the vibrant flavors of India come alive in a chic and relaxed setting. This popular eatery offers an impressive lunch buffet from Monday to Friday, featuring around 20 delectable dishes for just about $10. Diners rave about the chicken tikka masala and the Paneer Korma, which has become a favorite for many due to its rich taste and satisfying leftovers.
Always a warm, comfortable, easy vibe at Sahib, Tonight we had garlic and spicy naan. Chili chicken was delicious with medium heat. Also, the pineapple chicken was yummy. My favorite is between the Korma and Mango. It’s a toss up. The staff are fantastic! The mango cheesecake is superb, great flavor combination.

This is an outstanding restaurant! I went in at 11am when they opened and the buffet smelt amazing so that’s what I went with. There were lots of options on the buffet, everything was fresh and OMGosh delicious. I’ve had Indian cuisine all over the US and UK, but I’ll have to admit this is some of the best I’ve had. The chicken was so tender it fell apart. The sauces were rich and flavorful. The paneer was soft and in the spinach sauce extremely delectable. The naan was freshly made and the raita so creamy I could have just eaten it by the spoon. The restaurant is very clean and the people were friendly and polite. There was ample parking and they have outdoor seating as well. I would 1000% recommend stopping in and trying this deliciousness for yourself. I will definitely be returning. I will make a trip to Johnson City just for this amazing food.

Wonderful restaurant!! After living here for 7 years I have finally tried Sahib, and so happy we finally did! The absolute best Indian food I've had in the Southeast!! The staff and service were absolutely excellent. Very friendly, clean, and even during the buffet hours extremely helpful. My eating picky son, enjoyed the pakora as well as the delicious mango Lassi they served my son at the table. So friendly!

I've been to this restaurant several times, and it is exceptional. We've had Peter as our server several times. He goes above and beyond every time. If you're into a little spice, I highly recommend the Curry Mojito. It's delicious!! The Lamb Tikka Masala is fantastic! It's been one of my top favorite dishes. The Tandoori Fish is the next best thing. With it being my birthday, Peter had gone above all had to prepared an amazing dessert, with one of the best presentations!
Taylor M — Google review
I finally had the opportunity to visit Sahib. I’d been looking forward to it based on the reviews. I was craving Indian food and had the time, so went for lunch. Honestly the food was just OK. I got the buffet so I could try a few different things. First of all, there was plenty of steam coming from the buffet itself but nothing I got was hot. It was noon and moderately busy so I was quite surprised that nothing was hot. The tandoori chicken had a good taste. The chicken curry was mostly bones and cartilage. The chicken tikka masala was pretty mild but had a decent flavor. The naan was good but it was better by itself as the dips weren’t great. The raita especially had a very weird taste and was pretty runny. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t go back, but it definitely will not be a regular dining option for me.
Blair E — Google review
So, it's been a minute since i first rated this place. Had to update it to say that the staff went out of their way to be sure my husband had a great birthday! The flavor here is always on point and I could easily become a vegetarian eating here! That said they have fabulous lamb, beef, chicken, shrimp.... And you can choose how spicy you want it! Orginal Post: Never have been disappointed here. Make sure to say hello to Rocky - he makes the place special!
Beyond S — Google review
We ate here a couple of nights ago and were quite impressed. We had the "Dinner for two" which was probably enough for four. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly though the chicken on the mixed tandoori appetizer plate was a little dried out. The wine list is somewhat limited but every bottle offered are fantastic and offers a well balanced selection. We didn't eat the vegetarian side as neither of us is a fan of spinach so they packed up a Chana Masala with our leftovers as well as some extra chutney of which we enjoyed all three. Absolutely will return next time we're in the area.

The food is Exceptional. The service is Above and beyond especially if you get Peter, he is our absolute favorite server!! Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the tri cities. If you are in the area, this is a MUST!!! They even took extra good care of my girlfriend on her birthday!

Situated in a historic residence linked to a nearby mill, this restaurant offers an exclusive dinner experience. Their menu frequently changes to showcase local and seasonal ingredients that they source. Dining at Juniper goes beyond just eating; it immerses all your senses. Renowned as the finest establishment in the area, the staff is exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, and hospitable.
Such a cute and vibey place. I had their take on an old fashioned and my partner had a mocktail. Both beverages were delicious and well crafted. We tried their focaccia bread with the fennel pollen whipped butter that was also delicious. I am vegetarian and they offered to make some sides and starters vegetarian friendly. I tried their yellow curry tempeh and it was so good! The umami flavor was there and the spice level was perfect. I will definitely love to go back and try more things when I am back in the area.

Immaculate food and vibes. Our server was so helpful in describing different menu items and giving suggestions. Truly unique and delicious food. The best steak I have ever had, and it was venison! The potato mash and focaccia was delicious, as were the cocktails ❤️ we had told them it was our anniversary and they gave us champagne and little Madeleines 💕 as a baker, I have never seen such a pristine perfect piece of coconut cake

Hubby brought me on my birthday and we both had a Japanese A5 Wagyu Steak, chicken pot pie croquettes, asparagus with barnaise sauce, lobster mashed potato & three kinds of dessert. We are foodie people and we have high regards on good and quality food. You could get a fine dining experience at Juniper, and the attention to details for everyrhing is exemplary, with excellent good service especially our server named Whitney she is knowledgeable with everything & I asked for a sweet cocktail drink and I had what she recommended. Very good! A lot of options & I like the fact they have off menu dishes & specials. We were surprised when we were there, there was a Japanese Wagyu steak on the menu but it's not listed on their website.😍 Yes it is pricey but for us it's worth it. Reservation is recommended and we would dedinitely come back. Five star!

Had an overall pleasant experience. The fried green tomatoes were not the best. We loved the chicken pot pie croquettes - these were phenomenal! Best thing we ate. I loved the brussel sprouts too! It is beautiful inside and the service is top notch.

Visited with a coworker during a business trip to the Tri-Cities. Juniper was recommended a few times, so we made a reservation (definitely make a reservation) for dinner. We booked seats at the bar which ended up being a great choice. We got to talk to our server a lot by sitting at the bar, and she was really kind and super helpful. Everything we tried was absolutely excellent. The atmosphere is very laid back but not too informal. Food options all looked fantastic and some of the off menu items sounded very good. Great recommendation and I’ll definitely be back.

Dined at the bar and was not disappointed! the Service, Mack and Corey, are stellar, everything was spectacular from start to finish! The cocktails are a MUST, the French Onion Soup is a MUST, the Wood Grilled Salmon is to live for and the Coconut Layer Cake will leave you spinning in the best way possible. Dine here, any way you can get it? the bar or a table, but reservations are a MUST; you will be blown away at every part.

Our server was Miki and she was absolutely fabulous. The food was great! Cooked perfectly. I highly recommend the brussel sprouts. The atmosphere was cozy and night. Easy to have a conversation. We had the coconut layer cake for dessert and it was delicious.

Barbecue restaurant
Project BBQ JC, formerly a food truck, has now established a permanent location on North Roan Street. The restaurant is renowned for its Texas-style BBQ, with giant smokers in the back churning out delectable meats like beef brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. In addition to their mouthwatering dishes, Project BBQ also offers an extensive selection of Mezcals. Visitors have raved about the perfectly cooked pulled pork and tender brisket that exudes a delightful smoky flavor.
Project Barbecue is the food you will eat in Heaven, if so you become hungry. I have never had better barbecue, and I’ve looked hard. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the food makes you wish you could rewind time and eat it all over again. Never had a bad meal here, and I’ve never recommended a place more to friends and coworkers. If you love barbecue, this is your spot. If you like barbecue, this is also your spot. If you don’t like barbecue, you’re about to. If you’re into burgers and want a little of it all, try the project burger. Brisket sandwich with Mac is a go to. The pizzas are dope, also. This is my favorite place to enjoy a meal, and I always go home full and with a huge smile on my face. These folks put a lot of love and flavor into this barbecue, and I’m very thankful to be able to spend my money at this restaurant. Thank you guys. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I really enjoyed everything about this place. You order at the counter and food is brought to you. It was very fast and super delicious. We got the brisket, which was perfect. All our sides were tasty too. I especially loved the smoked Mac n cheese. The sauces they have were also very, very good. I like the TN sweet the most. Good price point too. When you pull in the parking lot you can smell how good it’s going to be, then you see the gigantic smoker and start drooling. Highly recommend.

Great BBQ. Super clean, fresh and delicious. The ribs were definitely on Point . You could taste the hours they spent in the smoke . The sausage was dreamy and cheeesy and tasted really good . The sides were equally satisfying. Couldn't ask for anything more the service is outstanding. Everyone here was so friendly and nice . I'll definitely be coming back . Hats off to the chef and kitchen for putting out some really delicious food
Chris C — Google review
The pizza at Project BBQ offers everything I love in a pizza -- thin, slightly chewy crust, flavor-packed sauce, fresh toppings, and juuuust the right amount of cheese. It is amazing. The sides are also delicious (we tried the squash and banana pudding and a fruity pebbles cookie). But the star of the show, and featured entree that I haven't shut up about in two months, is the sticky, Asian wings. My understanding is that the wings are smoked and then fried. That is, the wings are cooked to perfection and then fried to a crispy wonderfulness before being tossed in the most delicious, mind-blowing sweet and sticky Asian sauce. The texture is unlike any other wing in town and the rich and flavorful sauce is heaven. (Yes, of course the BBQ is great too.)

I just recently relocated from North Carolina to Johnson City. And was blessed to be able to find an apartment less than a mile from project BBQ. On North Roan Street. One of my favorite restaurants in Johnson City. And the people are down to earth good folk. They're military friendly, so by the way my fellow veterans, ask them about their military discount. Everything I have gotten from there has been awesome. I plan on trying everything on the menu. But my go-to is the brisket plate with collard greens and cornbread casserole. Can't go wrong with that. I love this place. Y'all keep up the good work!

First time trying this place. It was fantastic! One of the best barbecue spots in Johnson City! Smoked mac & cheese was fantastic. Pizza at a barbecue place? Yes, absolutely get one of their pizzas.

Terrific food. It can get busy so I'd recommend going early. I went about 4 and zero wait and food was out very quickly. I got the brisket, smoked Mac and cheese, and cornbread casserole.

Update 03/0724: Without a doubt, our favorite BBQ Joint in the area! They have pizza now, too! Really good barbecue place. Food is very good. Enjoyed the Brisket and Burnt Ends Plates. Loved the generous sides of cornbread salad and baked beans. Slaw is a tasty-sweet & vinegary that compliments the fatty meats. Servers are all friendly, sweet, and energetic, and four different gals checked in with us while we were there. Lots of "locals". We has a good time and a good lunch!

Nestled in Johnson City, Bella Vita is a charming Italian eatery that exudes an inviting old-school ambiance. Since its establishment in 1998, this family-run gem has been delighting diners with a menu brimming with authentic Italian fare. From the mouthwatering chicken parmigiana to the hearty pasta al Forno and flavorful chicken marsala, every dish is crafted with love and tradition.
This food is really good. A few years ago I had food poisoning here, but I don’t like to leave a bad review unless I don’t plan to come back. I gave it another go the other day, and it was really exceptional. Friendly and attentive waiter as well. I got the pesto fettuccini which was very garlicky!

THANK YOU HAILEY AND FLO/PHO (forget which one it is, but I’m sure he will know. A person who came into my work suggested this little hole in the wall and I will absolutely be back. First, the staff was so friendly. Hailey was a sweetheart, down to earth super friendly. My guy Flo/Pho recommended some great dishes when I go back when I checked out. Secondly, the food was AMAZING. Best garlic bread(with cheese of course) was the best I’ve ever had and let’s talk about the sauce. SO MUCH SAUCE. I am a light sauce person BUT usually other places don’t give you enough but this place. If you love sauce, go! I got the chicken Alfredo and died when I saw how huge the portion was and how much soft. Delicious chicken and sauce.

Korean Taco House is a small, no-frills eatery that serves Asian comfort foods like Korean tacos, ramen, gimbap, and japchae. It offers a nostalgic experience for those who grew up in Korean neighborhoods and miss the flavors of authentic Korean cuisine. The food here is delicious, with fresh ingredients and generous portions at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and efficient, ensuring quick service. This restaurant stands out as one of the few places in town to enjoy Korean food.
Nice little spot. Popped in at lunch, may be busy, but very worth the wait or get there before the lunch crowd. Food is authentic and fresh, portions are excellent and prices very good. 2 Two of us for under 20$. Waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the bulgogi. Another guest offered the ramen and it looked delicious. That's on my list my next visit!
Ed J — Google review
I usually don’t share or post and leave reviews for a restaurant- but this is NOT KOREAN food. I spent almost 40$ for my husband and I for a takeout dinner- and it was the most basic Americanized “Korean” food ever. My ramen didn’t even include the egg or spice like real ramen noodles, my husbands taco, had a BITE of meat that was so tuff it was ridiculous- filled with lettuce, and cheese- literally like you’d get from Taco Bell. I was so so disappointed in this place. The food was editable, but should not be advertised as anything Korean food whatsoever…. :(
Taylor G — Google review
The food is fresh and delicious 😋 and the portions are large so you have leftovers. The staff is very friendly and checks on you to make sure your food is good. I'm very happy I found this restaurant because I've never had Korean food before and I could never find a restaurant. This is the only Korean restaurant in Johnson City, so come here if you want to try!

Great, cute little restaurant with an amazing and eclectic menu. Perfectly situated in the downtown Johnson area, easy to park and walk to. They have everything, from tacos, to ramen, and several authentic Korean dishes, little splashes of everything. Everything we had was great! We had Jajangmyeon, and it was very savory. The vegetables were cooked, yet crunchy and the chicken and noodles were perfect. The Tteokbokki was perfectly spicy and the rice cakes were delicious. The fried rice comes wrapped in an omelette that looks like the size of a swaddled newborn! Lots of food for just $8.99. We also had an order of the tacos and chicken ramen. Very tasty! The staff was very kind and patient. We had such a great time! The food was exceptional and for the price you cannot go wrong.

Wonderful place to eat, the customer service was amazing as well. Do keep in mind they have only a few tables so try to avoid going during rushes if you actually want to sit down and eat. Try going when they first open for meal times or after the dinner rush has passed. The food is delicious, and the smell of the cooking in the small restraunt leaves your mouth watering. They have a good variety to choose from for food, being able to cater to most people's taste. Personally had a taco and the curry, and my companions had ramen, and there were no complaints from us. Even better, the portions they give are not going to leave you wanting for more

I absolutely love Korean Taco House!! I grew up in a predominately Korean neighborhood and always had the privilege of eating the food they fixed. Once they moved, I lost those delicious foods, and coming here, I feel like I was right back with them again. It felt nostalgic, especially eating the Kimbab, so I’ll definitely be back. I can’t wait to go back! The flavors are delicious and everything tastes super fresh!

Nestled in the heart of Johnson City, The Roots Vietnamese Restaurant is a delightful gem that brings authentic Vietnamese flavors to life. With its minimalist decor and inviting atmosphere, this family-run establishment has been serving up delicious bowls of pho for over five years. Guests can indulge in comforting dishes like rice and noodle specialties, Banh Mi sandwiches, and refreshing boba tea.
Honestly of all the places I didnt think id find such amazing Vietnamese food in johnson city Tennessee. But here we are. The place seems to be family owned so it does have that mom and pop feel. But make no mistake they do keep it clean. The service is good though it does get busy and there isn't alot of staff. So be prepared to be patient. The food is great so far I've had the pho, beef stew, and the egg rolls. All have been amazing im leaving this reviee after eating here 4 times now.

I was hoping to leave a better review since this was my third time trying this place. The first time was a few years ago and I wasn’t really impressed but the second time was in person and was decent. The chef/cook/owner was the only person that actually had customer service skills and made me feel comfortable. The third time (to go) left much to be desired and I will probably never go back. Finding hair twice on different occasions in food in less than 2 weeks (my friend found hers first) is disappointing. It got worse with the undercooked meat… I make Galbi myself at home all the time and have had it at other restaurants and so I know what it’s supposed to look and taste like. I even had to attempt to recook it myself before finding hair in the actual salad portion of the meal. It was a long black hair just like my friend’s and neither of us have long, straight black hair. As someone who works in public health and is currently working on Food Service Guidelines in our state, I can’t help but question their kitchen practices, conditions and the quality of meals they serve. They also need to better train their staff as their customer service skills are lackluster.

Exceptional restaurant! First of all the staff were lovely. Our waitress was so kind and helpful. One of the chefs even came out and asked how spicy I like my Pho. I told him probably a 6 or 7 spiciness. He came back and provided me with just the right about of chili oil that would get me to that level! And the pho was so so delicious! We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Mid. The bahn mi comes on a soft hoagie roll instead of the traditional baguette, which is strange. Flavor wise it is ok. The vietnamese coffee is served in the traditional manner, which is cool, but flavor wise it was just ok. I had the pho at a previous visit and, again, it was serviceable but not remarkable. Prices are high for the portion sizes. Service is practically non-existent.

The epic deviled eggs are also excellent. The salads are a must try. Our only complaint is the wine pours are very small. They use a small glass to make it seem like a normal pour.

I would rank this restaurants atmosphere and setup alone, among the best in Johnson City. The decor, the lights, the floors, everything about the structure and layout is unmatched. We went on a Friday night, it was packed but the place feels huge so we didn’t feel over crowded. All the staff were very friendly, didn’t have to wait long on anything at all! My wife and I ordered a variety of things. She loved the pear cocktail. I ordered the South Rail and she ordered the brisket. Our brisket was a little dry, pulled pork was ok, street corn cup was alright. Over all our food was ok. Definitely recommend.

Decent food, pretty bad service, really cool atmosphere. We waited in the booth for about 15 minutes before being greeted by a server. We got the feta dip as an appetizer. Entrees included burgers, a salad, wings, and the grilled chicken BLT. The BLT was described by my niece as "mid", and my wife and I found that to be a fitting description of our burgers as well. My sister explained that her salad was decent but oddly too salty. My nephew enjoyed the wings. The mac and cheese, unfortunately, is probably inferior to boxed Kraft mac and cheese. Overall, the food was decent but definitely not worth the price tag.

This place is a must go!! The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Cowboy burger which had burger, pork belly, crispy onions and cheese. This was so delicious. My meal came with hand cut fries. My husband had a bacon fest 1000 with fries. My mother in law had a pulled pork platter and she really liked it too. Afterwards, we had yummy dessert that the owner (I think it was the owner) maybe head chef makes fresh. We had a Black Forest ice cream cake and a slice of toffee cheesecake. Our waitress, Hannah, was wonderful! She was so kind, attentive and very sweet! I hope we get to have her again when we come back.

Our waitress, Lexi, was fabulous, kind, fast. We came on an early Saturday afternoon so it wasn’t busy. The building is beautiful and lively and has a great atmosphere. The bathrooms were very clean and the music was great. You can see into the kitchen and it seemed nice in there. The food was… really not great though. I got a burger that was meant to have caramelized onions on it, but the onions were bland, pale, and super wet and made the entire burger fall apart. They very kindly comped it and replaced it with a Tennessee Ties burger that was better. Several of my fries were underdone and teetering on crunchy raw and in general they were very soggy. We took them home and tried to air fry them and even that couldn’t get them crisp. My husband got a Mac and cheese burger which he said was okay, just very greasy, and he didn’t finish it. We also got spinach dip and that was pretty good, not the best, not very hot, but good enough. I think with all the burger places popping up to try, I would not come back to this restaurant.

The place looks nice , the waitress was really attentive , but something just didn't feel right. When I ordered brisket, it was brought to me cold, not like warm, but cold. And when I told the waitress that if she could heat it up, she brought me another one, but it wasn't hot either. Another person at the table was given a double portion of chicken tenders because the first one wasn't presentable, that's what the waitress said. And well...here we are at 3 am writing this review because my mother in law got allergy to something, and my husband and I woke up to vomit the food .

BURG’r & BARREL is one of those places that keeps you coming back. I’ve stopped in several times just for drinks, and the outside bartender is absolutely amazing — friendly, professional, and makes everyone feel like family. You can tell he really knows his craft and takes pride in what he does. I tried the onion rings recently, and they were piled high and perfectly crispy — definitely worth ordering. The atmosphere is great, relaxed but lively, and I can easily see myself coming back soon for one of their burgers. A great spot all around!

Bonefish Grill is a contemporary dining destination that specializes in seafood, offering an enticing menu filled with fresh catches and expertly grilled dishes. This restaurant takes pride in its wood-burning grill, which enhances the flavors of their market-fresh seafood. Signature dishes like the famous Bang Bang Shrimp are a must-try for anyone looking to indulge in bold flavors. For those seeking something more upscale, the filet mignon paired with a succulent lobster tail promises to elevate your dining experience.
The food was very delicious and fresh. It's a big restaurant but if you are planning a dinner on a Friday I recommend you reserve a table ahead. I was there on Friday night and it was pretty busy. I had rainbow trout with mashed potatoes and mango salsa It was very delicious. If you don't like the fish they have steak, chicken, and pork. It's definitely one of those restaurants where you can say anyone can find something delicious to eat, even the picky eaters.

They are open for lunch now. So we thought we would check it out. Would be great for date night. Disappointed because they don't have a lunch menu so everything was pretty pricey for lunch. So we splurged. The waitress was great. I thought the food was a little overpriced but it was good. I would go back but I would order a less expensive meal.

Not bad at all. The food was good and the atmosphere was wonderful! The service was a little off but that seemed to be because of how busy it was. Our waiter was stretched thin. But I understand. I still love Bonefish Grill.

A fabulous place with huge portions of fresh healthy food!! Many gorgeous dishes are on the manu here. We shared the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer. Plentiful portions and so delectable! Craveworthy! He was served the best biggest basket of Fish & Chips ever! I had the Asian Butterfish with the most delicious sauce, a huge side of fresh spinach and jasmine rice. Truly a remarkable tasting dish. And our server Anthony was just as gracious, friendly, attentive and professional as they come. Ask for Anthony when dining at the BoneFishGrill in Johnson City. Oh, we ate outside on the veranda. It was a 100% Wonderful experience. Thank you. Well see you again soon.

What can I say? Bonefish is always amazing and is worth any wait. The food was hot and tasty! I enjoyed my meal immensely and will definitely treat myself again the next time I am in Johnson City.
Stephen F — Google review
This was our first visit to Bonefish in a few years. The last time we went, we were very underwhelmed, but we decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately, we should’ve trusted our instincts. We arrived around 7 p.m. on a Saturday night. The restaurant was maybe a quarter full—which, in hindsight, should’ve been a red flag. It took several minutes before anyone even greeted us at the hostess stand. Eventually, a server (not a hostess) noticed us waiting and seated us. Our server was polite and took our drink order promptly, but then disappeared for 10–15 minutes before returning to take our food order. My wife ordered one of the specials, the Black Pepper Udon, and I chose the Shrimp and Scallop Pasta. The server immediately said they were out of the Black Pepper Udon—again, at 7 p.m. on a Saturday, with the restaurant nearly empty. So my wife switched to the Grilled Shrimp and Scallops, which came with broccoli… except they were also out of broccoli. A few minutes later, the server returned again to tell me they were also out of the Shrimp and Scallop Pasta. At that point, I changed my order to the Grilled Salmon with Scalloped Potatoes and Risotto. When the food arrived, things didn’t get better. My wife’s Scallops were extremely overcooked and tough. My Salmon was dry—half of it was overcooked, and the rest wasn’t far behind. The Sides were bland and forgettable. Overall, the quality here has clearly gone downhill. With a restaurant only a quarter full on a Saturday night, it seems like others have figured that out too. Unless the food quality and consistency improve dramatically, there’s really no reason to return. Save yourself the disappointment and take your business elsewhere.

Mexican restaurant
El Charolais is a popular Mexican restaurant with multiple locations in the Tri-Cities area. Known for its unpretentious atmosphere and traditional Mexican dishes like enchiladas and burritos, it's a favorite among locals. The restaurant is often busy, especially on weekends, but the friendly staff and vibrant ambiance make the wait worthwhile.
The Salsa is spicy and wasn't a fan of the Al Pastor but the rest of our food has been the best we have had around here. The waitress was very nice and never let my cup go empty! We have finally found our go to Mexican restaurant!

El Charolais is a gem in Johnson City for authentic Mexican cuisine. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. Their fajitas are sizzling perfection, and the tacos are packed with bold, traditional flavors. Don’t miss out on their house-made guacamole or their refreshing margaritas. The staff is attentive, friendly, and ensures you have a wonderful dining experience every time. If you’re craving real Mexican food with a welcoming vibe, El Charolais is the place to go!”

Food was pretty good the Tacos and Pollo Picante were amazing. The service was lack luster with only getting checked on twice, once when situated and once for the check. The atmosphere though is amazing it has its own little supermarket apart from the restaurant and is just very inviting.
Shane M — Google review
The food was really good and the servers were nice, but honestly the hospitality could be better. Being Hispanic and raised in a Mexican household, I’m used to a little more attentiveness. For example, customers shouldn’t have to stack up to-go containers on the table, it would be nice if the staff offered to box things up. Also, if the wrong dish is ordered accidentally and it hasn’t been touched, it should be switched out without hesitation. Instead, we ended up having to pay for the extra plate we didn’t want, which was disappointing. Overall, the food was worth it, but the service definitely has room to improve.

After being a local customer for years . We love this place , food is always great . We Spend anywhere from $60-$100 a WEEK every Tuesday on to go orders at this location not including stopping by the other locations when in Elizabethton. However it’s a great disappointment that you order 2 full meals plus extras and leave a generous tip at that for TO GO every week, To remember that I forgot to add on sour cream during the order. Employee stated she would have to start a new ticket to charge me again for a small side of sour cream. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.
Kristie R — Google review
Top Notch, one place the entire family agrees we love, queso dip, salsa and chips, service is outstanding and the food is so fresh it’s like eating in the kitchen. The staff treat you like family. We don’t talk about the other Mexican restaurants anymore, it’s too painful. Go here, there is a wait sometimes but well worth it and where I come from 1.5 hours can be common so get used to it folks word is getting out. Seriously thought I had reviewed them two years ago but my brain must have kept it secret for me.

Went to El Charolais for the first time yesterday (was with a group of friends who call it "El Kroger" due to its proximity to same). Food and service were quite good. I had the Burrito Mojado (pictured), one of the lunch specials, which is a burrito filled with eggs and sausage and covered with cheese, accompanied by rice and beans. Was delicious, and a really hefty portion for the price. I'll have more to say about El Charolais in subsequent visits, but at this point it is the best Mexican food I've had in Johnson City, though thus far I don't have a lot to compare it to other the Amigos, which was pretty good, but not quite up to the standards of El Charolais.

First and most important, our waitress was so incredibly friendly! She was always smiling and was very attentive. The restaurant ambiance is colorful and lots of things to look at while you’re waiting on food. Our chips were fresh as was the salsa. I ordered the Supreme salad, oh my goodness I’ve never had a warm salad but this was delicious! It was packed with chicken, shrimp, beef, broccoli, zucchini, mmmm rice was incredible! My daughters ordered carnitas tacos and a carne enchilada, paired with a radish mix . Both girls were overly full when we left. The check out host was so friendly too! Definitely worth the challenge to park or wait for a seat. Bathroom was also clean and well kept.

Maple Street Biscuit Company is a casual cafe in Johnson City, TN, offering a modern twist on comfort food for breakfast and lunch. Known for their flaky buttermilk biscuits and Southern sides, this cozy joint provides upscale Southern breakfast/brunch without breaking the bank. The menu features creative ordering with a question of the month for customers to personalize their experience.
This is where you want to come for breakfast! Notice all the other places have 5.0 reviews and all stock photos. Dead give away they are fake, but this place has patron posted pictures and backs it up with a fantastic selection of fresh coffee and scratch made fresh biscuit combinations. The service was super fast and friendly. There was plenty of seating, and the portions were filling. We will definitely be back for more!

I assume they didn't have enough staff because I got greeted with a "hold on", then proceeded to be ignored for five minutes, which I understand if the restaurant was slammed. It wasn't. Nonetheless, the service was lacking. I love that they have fresh squeezed OJ & it would have been a more elevated experience if it wasn't filled with seeds. The breakfast sandwich + drink .+ a side of avocado was $17. I should have selected my order better. All that to say, the food is yummy & fresh. Maybe today was just an off day & I can try them again with a more budget friendly order. 🥸

This place invites curiosity. Food - balanced in flavor. Atmosphere, sure it was busy for a Sunday morning, but it wasn't overwhelming. I think my favorite part of breakfast was the checkout question of what job you'd be worst at. So you can observe folks as they go get their order, and see what they think would be their worst job. Fun people watching joint 😂

Wonderful little eatery. No table service, you order at the counter where they ask you your favorite karaoke song. This is how they're going to tell you your order is ready - they don't call your name; they call your song. The biscuit and gravy was well done - moist biscuit and flavorful gravy. Not the standard cream gravy, but a modified and more flavorful one. The same is true with the discs of hash browns which have also been 'notched up' with the addition of herbs. Staff are friendly and the place is inviting and clean. Recommended.
Hoyt R — Google review
Finally got to come back and savor their wonderful breakfast and delicious coffee. Place your order at the front counter. They will ask you to answer the question of the month. Your answer is how they call out that your order is ready. Classic Biscuit Bundle: smashbrowns, egg, and cheese biscuit and drip coffee is included. * If your sandwich is too dry or you like to eat your biscuit by itself, ask for some jam. It may cost a little extra but soooo worth it. Plenty of seating with various sizes of tables and chair height in their rectangular dining area. You will still find me at the window table looking out at the trees behind the parking lot.

Wait was a bit longer at 8:00am so go early if you are in a rush, second visit I had no wait around 9:30am Food was amazing though. Staff amazingly friendly. The Maple Blend coffee is delicious!!! Fresh squeezed OJ is always a favorite of mine as well!

The food here was amazing but in the last several months it has went far down hill. They were bought out by Cracker Barrel and they made them stop making the gravy from scratch. Now its a terrible pouch gravy that is Grey in color. All of their great sauces and dips and now just fast food quality. I have eaten here for about 3 years, but never again.

Mona Lisa's Gelato & Cafe is a delightful destination for anyone with a sweet tooth, offering an array of homemade gelato crafted daily from locally sourced dairy. With flavors that rotate regularly—think cherry grazie, butter pecan, and even jalapeno—there’s always something new to try. For those mindful of their dietary needs, they also provide low-calorie and sugar-free options.
Truly one of the best lunches in the Tri-Cities, and I haven't even had the Gelato yet! Start with the "creamy chicken and celery soup." It really needs a majestic name because it is truly fit for a king! Served piping hot and so full of chicken that it was a meal all by itself. I paired the soup with the ham, goat cheese and apple sandwich which was out of this world. They don't skimp on ANY of the ingredients, and the everything on it was so fresh, all the way down to the mixed greens. Hubby had the Hearty Italian salad with what turned out to be the very best Balsamic dressing I've ever tasted. (Honestly, I even dipped my sandwich in it. His chicken bacon ranch sandwich was also tops. Getting long-winded here but all I can say about the Gelato is, 'come hungry!' Their idea of "one scoop" is two flavors together in one cup if you like! We got carried away and started eating before I remembered to take the pix all the way through, including the Gelato. They have over 20 flavors to choose from! To top it all off, the sweet little dining room has padded chairs vs those urban industrial metal numbers that are so popular but uncomfortable. (They do have some of the cute metal tables, though.) And the 70's tunes were the cherry on top for this reviewer. Do NOT miss this spot!

Called ahead and made sure the kitchen had the food I wanted. Left my home and arrived at approximately 8-8:10. Was informed the kitchen had closed for the evening and was no longer selling food, only gelato. Really would have appreciated that information before making the short drive. Restaurant hours are until 10. If I needed to order and have it waiting, I would have. I've enjoyed this establishment frequently in the past. This time really missed the mark.

Went here for a date night and so glad we did! We started off on the 3rd floor roof top and had excellent drinks before the rain came. Had reservations at Courses (2nd floor) and was amazed at the quality of the food and the presentation was on point. Service was a 10! Had the Medium Plate Bruschetta that honestly was one of best appetizers I’ve had in a long time. Fresh ingredients that just went so well together. I also had the Chicken and Tomato Bechamel with pasta, highly recommend, and we ended with the Peach Crumble, just order it, you will not be disappointed. All in all great experience and we will be back.

Stopped in for lunch. They were just a couple weeks into their Saturday Brunch and working out some wrinkles. We ate on the rooftop, which is very nice. The lounge on the first floor and the restaurant on the second looked very classy. We found the menu to be limited and both decided to go with the burger and fries and a brown ale. The large burger with bacon and an egg was too much and a bit greasy. The beer was flat and disappointing. They have only been open since April so there is good potential.

Courses (second floor) was exceptional! The lemon ricotta small plate was one of the best appetizers I have ever had! We also got the tuna small plate and it was fresh and perfectly presented. We then had the mussels and pork chop to share and were stuffed! Our server was amazing with the timing of placing orders so that we had a next course on time. We will be back!!

I stopped in to check out this new brewery/restaurant/rooftop craft cocktail bar, when they first opened, in October of 2020. The taproom features modern, elegant design and a welcoming vibe from a staff that is very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. As someone who spends a lot of time in Asheville, I find most of the local breweries to be quite underwhelming, so I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised by Watauga's brews. During my visit, I had the opportunity to visit with and learn more about Watauga's brewmaster. We dished on the differences between whole cone and t-90 pelletized hops; he also mentioned that his most recent batch is better than what's currently on tap. Speaking of said beers currently on tap, I highly recommend the Hopical NE IPA. Without a doubt, it's the best IPA I've had, from a local brewery, in JC and compares very favorably to the best hoppy libations you'll find in the 828. Watauga's head brewer is Ted Catron. One of the first beers to influence him was Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale, and he developed a refined, sophisticated palate for brews while residing on the West Coast. He began his initial experiments in brewing at his home laboratory prior to attending the Brewing and Distillery Center in Knoxville, TN. While brewing beers in his driveway, the vision for what became Watauga brewing, was percolating in Ted's mind. Said vision was to feature a wide range of IPAs brewed in several different styles. Furthermore, he envisioned a space in which you would encounter a new style/combination of hops or style of IPA upon each visit. With the launch of Watauga Brewing Company, his vision came to fruition. I once told Ted that his beer compared well vis-à-vis the best brews in Asheville; he replied, "I don't compare myself to other breweries. I compete with myself." Ted's passion, fastidious attention to detail, and artistry are apparent in the high quality artisanal creations that you find on tap here. While this establishment is aspiring towards an upscale vibe and ambiance, it's currently being held back by inconsistent, average customer service. I've now visited Watauga more than thirty times, and I've only experienced exceptional customer service on a few occasions. This is probably due to the challenge of finding high quality employees, as turnover seems to be rather high in the few months they've been open. Hopefully, the service will level up, in the coming months, making this a must visit, 5-star restaurant/brewery. If I were rating this establishment solely on the quality of beer on offering, I would give Watauga five stars. Currently, there isn't another brewery in JC that comes close to the quality you find on offer here. Over the years, things have changed, as the head brewer and one of the founders of Watauga left in July 2023, so I can no longer vouch for the quality of beer on tap. Ted Catron, the aforementioned head brewer/founder, entered beer festivals - such as Thirsty Orange - for years under the name of Watauga Brewing, prior to this establishment opening. In fact, one of his creations won the coveted People's Choice award in 2019. Ergo, this place will never be the same without him dialing in flavorful IPAs and artisanal ales on the regular. Watauga is now on their second head brewer since Ted's departure, and the quality of the beers on offer has diminished dramatically. They also recently replaced the giant chalkboards, which displayed beautiful, handwritten lists of the beers on tap, with boring digital displays. Are you intentionally attempting to kill the vibe? These colorful chalkboards were very photogenic and a great form of organic marketing, as they displayed beautifully on IG, Tik Tok, Yelp, or, within the most social of networks, your personal Messages. Watauga had the opportunity of offering world class craft beer and fine dining in a region with a dearth of both. With inconsistent service, an unusually high turnover of staff at all levels, and the departure of the original founding brewmaster, they've fallen far short of this aspirational goal.

Watauga Brewing Company is an awesome space to visit! Whether you’re coming for casual dining, celebrating a special event, or just grabbing drinks with friends this is the spot for it all. The brewpub always has a great beer selection and fun for all. The second floor is immaculate and great for the fine dining experience. It’s awesome getting to watch the great kitchen staff work while enjoying a nice meal. And can’t forget about the amazing rooftop bar. The view of the city is gorgeous up there year around. The staff in all three floors are super friendly, talented, and very knowledgeable of the menu and drink selection.

Wow!! What a wonderful find! The drinks and food were incredible!!! This brewing/restaraunt has 3 seperate floors, the rooftop was certainly a special experience. Casual and comfortable outdoor seating, as well as many high and low top tables. They have a rooftop bar offering cocktails/beer and food. We ordered some Pina Coladas that were made with fresh fruits. The menu seasonally changes, so be sure to check their website. For appetizers, we ordered the Brussels (amazing!!) The Gulf Shrimp (also amazing) For dinner, we ordered the Grilled Chicken with Ginger and Turmeric Glaze and Broccolini (which was incredible) The Smoked Salmon with Spicy Peach and Jalepeno Glaze and it was delicious as well as the Teds Fish & Chips and the Brewers Burger which were both also quite tasty. Beautiful views of Johnson City that were accompanied by beautiful plants they have growing on the railings with misters and plenty of rotary fans. The drinks were SO delicious. 21+ up and the bartenders were so top notch. I will always be sure to stop by this Brewery when visiting again. Do not miss out out on this place!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I truly enjoy the flavors of the food here, and some of the dishes are also available in Thailand. I especially love the cakes, and I look forward to coming back again. 🤍🤍

We usually come here once a week to eat but this time I was very disappointed it’s usually really good ! With great service ! But this time the server barley checked on us took 30 mins to get us are check the queso was so clumpy that we usually enjoy it tasted horrible we couldn’t eat our food because it was covered in the queso that was clumpy like it was spoiled I started to feel sick after I ate it and the manager didn’t even offer half off on the food or ask to void it off our receipt she just said sorry about that and looked at us like we were crazy very bad service very disappointed.

Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, founded sometime in the 10th century, is a magical, unforgettable, and occasionally life-threatening experience. You know what else was magical and occasionally life-threatening? The service and conversation provided by Juan Siao's absolute best waitress, Courtney. Highly recommend for anyone with a desire to witness something truly remarkable, a dream of good food, and a decent tolerance for unpredictable staircases (depending on how many drinks you've ordered), Juan Siao, and by a greater extension, Courtney, truly ensnared the senses and bewitched the mind. Speaking of drinks, while her potions aren't exactly something Snape might brew, I'm utterly convinced that Juan Siao's bartender, Layla (from New Brunswick) might just very well be an expert in divination. While I don't personally put too much credence into the belief of astrological signs, she guessed both me and my mate's star-signs and then proceeded to correctly guess our Hogwarts Houses before making us something that defied logic. Like, how does a drink with passion fruit syrup end up tasting like a strawberry banana go-gurt?!? In any case, both Hogwarts and Juan Siao are magical places full of wonder and excitement. 10/10, would recommend.... M.I.P. to my friend who's moving to Nebraska and couldn't be convinced to stay in the tri-cities by these wonderful people mentioned above.

It's the perfect spot for breakfast or lunch with offerings like homemade pop tarts and scrumptious breakfast sandwiches.
Absolutely delicious pastries and pesto chicken sandwich. The cookie butter croissant was fantastic and not too sweet. The service was fast and friendly. Prices are fair given the quality and taste of their products. Plenty of parking and indoor/outdoor seating options.

This is a great place. Restaurant is new, clean, attractive, and great service. Pastries, quiche, bagels, etc are all made in house. Extremely good food. I was totally unexpected such a wonderful experience. Good parking. Right now, Johnson City has the streets around the store torn up and down to gravel. Don't let that keep you from driving over to crumb bait shop. It's the drive.

Great 1st time visit.....very legit baked breads and pastries. We split the deluxe breakfast sandwich and coffee....very tasty with the onion relish. We shared the bear claw with great almond paste filling, and the blackberry sweet cheese danish.....once again light buttery danish dough and toppings. Karington was a pleasure to talk to and was very helpful in our ordering. We highly recommend this fine bake shop....it will be a go to stop for us

Trendy, new bakery near the downtown scene and college campus. It's family friendly: I've seen young moms here with their new born babies, students studying, and friends catching up. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's a convenient, private parking lot behind the business. Easy & stress free. II. SERVICE Friendly. III. QUALITY I came here specifically for what they specialize in... The baked items. They're made fresh daily. I did note, a lot of their pastries are rather dry (which is not a bad thing, okay?) The drier pastries cater to being paired with coffee (i.e. coffee cake, scones,...). Hence why coffee cake is called coffee cake and why scones are historically a "tea time" item that's paired with a liquid for contrast. They do have danishes, raspberry/cheese braids, etc... Things that are less dry.. so they have a variety of textures. So have fun picking up and experimenting with what you think is best for you. IV. CAPACITY For a Wednesday morning, the place is very busy and full. I'm very happy to see the success of a local pastry shop since there aren't many here in Johnson City.

Relaxing atmosphere 😎 Really clean, simple decor. Friendly staff! Reasonable prices and food is phenomenal! The G.O.A.T. sandwich was amazing, super flaky buttery croissant. Had a few different pastries all were delicious. Only complaint is that I'll probably be sad and let down anytime I have an oatmeal cream pie that isn't from here.

Best bakery in the area!! I LOVE the ham and cheese croissants (on weekends only), the lemon curd and lavender pastry, and the bialy with chive and dill cream cheese!

Ricotta herb babka is moist, fragrant, and tangy, with an appealing savory cake texture. The rugalech is a marriage of spice, fruit, and not-too-sweet buttery rich dough in an appealing small knot shape. Dining room, restroom, and patio are all clean and bright. Good bottled beverage selection with several sparkling and still water options.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Jonesborough, The Black Olive is a delightful haven for lovers of homemade Italian cuisine. This eatery prides itself on crafting delicious and affordable dishes using organic ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. Their enticing menu features unique offerings like Italian Nachos made with crispy fried pasta chips, a refreshing Greek Salad loaded with feta and olives, and the savory Downtown Chicken paired with artichokes and goat cheese.
The dining experience was exceptional, exhibiting a high level of service and culinary expertise. The food was remarkable, and each course was executed flawlessly. We commenced with a selection of appetizers, featuring garlic knots and a sampler platter that provided a well-rounded introduction to the meal. The timing was impeccable, allowing us to enjoy the appetizers before our main courses were presented. I chose the grilled chicken, which was perfectly prepared, complemented by steamed broccoli and a crisp side salad—each element well-balanced in flavor and texture. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the cheese tortellini, which he found particularly satisfying. Our granddaughter, when asked for her feedback, enthusiastically rated our evening with an “A,” reflecting her enjoyment. Overall, our visit to the Black Olive was outstanding— a venue that deserves recommendation and likely merits a slight detour for any food enthusiast. Our server, Emma, demonstrated commendable patience and friendliness, especially in accommodating our lively 6-year-old granddaughter. The entire experience was memorable, and we eagerly anticipate our return.

Lasagna was very good nice big portion it was $17 The house salad is lame just regular iceberg lettuce lots of white pieces tossed in a bowl The bread wasn't great that comes with Lasagna so I just dipped in the sauce to add flavor. Experience was regular. The server was nice. Kids karaoke was lots of Disney songs mostly if you do go on a Tuesday this month I went another day but decided to add to my review and ordered chicken Alfredo to go but sadly the chicken is cut in thin slices into random pieces in pasta with not much chicken to be worth 14$ so I don't recommend that I now get the the black olive special: Meat Lasagna, chicken parmesian, and substitute the spaghetti for alfredo but I think it's 1$ extra charge not sure if they charged me last time an extra dollar 🤔 Definitely filling get their rewards Definitely worth it if you plan to go many times

What a mistake it was to wait 4 years after moving to the area to try this place! We enjoyed it all! Of course we had to get garlic knots because they are highly reviewed and they did not disappoint. I ordered a deluxe calzone with no changes and it was really good. My husband got the black Olive special which gave small portions of spaghetti, chicken Parmesan and lasagna. They marinara was so good on it all. We sat in the bar which was great and atmosphere was really nice. The main dining area was packed w graduation people and the restaystill kept up with all those orders in a timely manner. We both took home enough for another meal or two. I get the hype now and we will definitely be back!

Traveling through Tennessee, we decided to try this restaurant and so glad we did! The food was amazing, even with my wife needing gluten free needs. Her meal was a chicken parm with no breading and zucchini noodles. Absolutely fantastic tasting. I had a steak canzone. Probably the best one I ever had. We will be coming back. It will make for a nice ride on our motorcycle and we plan on bringing friends. Our server was very sweet and gave us excellent service.

It was mother's day so the place was crowded. However something happened with our order so that people who came in after us got their food before. I think our server forgot to turn in our ticket, which would have been fine had he been honest about it. It took an hour to get our food. Otherwise , Great as always.

My husband and I went out for date night and I had the most PERFECT sirloin! It was cooked to the perfect medium temperature and was definitely worth the price! The side salad was delicious but the portion size was a bit much. Nonetheless it was a 10/10 dining experience and we will definitely come back for our next date night!

The food looked delicious. It was pretty tasty, but it was not spectacular. The restaurant was a bit too dark for me. My husband said his steak was very tender and quite delicious, and my cowboy pork chops were a huge helping and I took plenty home. The service was close to top-notch.

We hadn't been here since a short while after COVID. It was off its game at the time and I stayed away ever since. Anyway, I thought I'd give it another try. The restaurant was full by 5pm. I was surprised. The food was really quite excellent too. We both had filets and all the extras. Our meals arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. Warm and prepared perfectly. This is a very well managed restaurant. Lauren B. looked after us. She was very very busy but did not let the stress show, was always professional, helpful and cheerful. She made the meal.

I would like to amend a review that I wrote about Longhorn 11 months ago. My family and I had a completely different experience this time First I would like to say that the food was very delicious and all of our steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. We were seated very quickly and our server, Gracie was phenomenal. She always ensured that we had our glasses full and was extremely gracious. The food and service were both top notch They definitely made up for the debacle of last year.

Nestled in Johnson City, Scratch Brick Oven Foodworks is a delightful haven for pizza lovers seeking something special. The menu features an array of homemade options, from the dough to the sauces and toppings, ensuring every bite is fresh and flavorful. Guests can indulge in various styles, including classic regular base pizzas or adventurous stuffed and Chicago-style varieties.
This place is unapologetically simple. No frills. A bit of funky and amazing pizza. Place your order at the counter. I insist you try the trust option. It has never failed me. I don’t get to come here often but when I’m in town I try to get here. Pizza is served in a to go box even if you are eating in. There are paper plates to grab and soda or water from a cooler. Simple. But works. Suggestion for the management. Don’t berate employees where customers can hear. That’s quite uncomfortable
Ninette — Google review
Google led us to this unique local pizza place. We were in town for a basketball tournament and wanted something locally owned. Google didn't disappoint. Their name is befitting in that everything is fresh and made from scratch. The staff were very helpful in order selections. Pizza came out quick and in boxes. We ate right out of the box which was fine by us. Pizza comes with fresh dried whole red pepper. What a unique option. Be careful to touch your eyes after breaking up the peppers. They warn you but my hubby still did. They have bottled drink options. Unsure on alcohol. Cool feature is the vinyl record player with a plethora of records to choose from. They encourage you to pick something and play. We parked behind the house/restaurant which was small so I am guessing you normally park across the street. Friendly and yummy. Can't go wrong!

It's definitely one of the best pizza places I've tried in the Tri-cities. Made fresh, not overly greasy, fresh quality ingredients. If you prefer a thinner crust with a good crunch/chew, then this is the place. It also has a really fun vibe and wild setup. Staff was also super friendly and helpful. I would also definitely recommend the cheese sticks since they are so good!

Are you tired of the same old pizza? This is the solution! We've been enjoying Scratch for many years. They are tastier, fresher and stronger than ever. Think I'm joking? Drop in and ask for the "Trust" pizza. What's a "Trust" pizza? There's only one awesome way to find out. Friendly and helpful staff will guide you as you choose any of the pizza and toppings that fit the mood. They only use the best ingredients and it shows up in the flavors! Don't forget to try the peat cheese bread. Please enjoy, and we might see you there.

This is one of the best pizza places in the country. It's not your traditional pizza though you can get your normal pizza on a great NY style crust. To get the full experience though go with a TRUST (you get a pizza with whatever they have) or LIMITED TRUST (cross out what you don't want). Every bite is different but each bite is the best you've ever had. Thai sauce on a pizza...... definitely what you've been missing in your life. The pesto cheese stix will also leave you craving more.

I traveled the world in the military for 23 years and I've NEVER had a pizza this delicious! It was other-worldly!! We went their for my birthday the other night and I'd never even heard of it prior to then. I am saddened only by the fact that I haven't heard of it sooner. If you like pizza, you MUST go here. As an added bonus, they had a turntable playing there and a huge selection of records to go with it. It was really eclectic and the music was a great flashback to the 70s and 80s as they were playing some old Jefferson Starship (I think that record may have actually been when they were still Jefferson Airplane). Just go!!

Our group ordered several different dishes from entrees to appetizers to sushi rolls. The atmosphere is just as nice and the prices are reasonable and affordable when comparing to similar places in the area of the same caliber. This was one of our two “go to” restaurants when I visit Johnson City and have lunch with my mother weekly. We started going to the other restaurant much more frequently, however, because this restaurant always feels dark inside. And with spring and summer coming up, it would be nice to have a little better lighting! I imagine it would be totally fine for dinner, but for lunch, sometimes it’s so dark inside that it feels a little odd in the middle of the day. That said, the food is solid. I enjoy the fact they have sushi and other items for me, while still having standard fried-rice-type dishes with the creamy sauce for my mother.
Lockie H — Google review
There is another review that says the food tastes like sams club microwave meals and that is the most accurate review of this restaurant. This food is NOT worth the prices they charge. We got 3 meals and an appetizer. Our bill was $90 not including tip. One of those meals should have been a child's plate but we were charged different. The worst part was we couldn't eat it. It was terrible. So we asked for the ticket paid the bill and left. The waitress saw we didn't eat and never even asked what was wrong or anything. Well, she did ask if we wanted a box haha...So we basically threw $100 down the drain.

Wonderful lunch experience. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere, low lighting and bold colors. The soft jazz music is a good choice. It was nice to hold a conversation without the normal yelling over loud music you get in most chain restaurants. We ordered sushi, a tuna tataki salad, and the vegetable stir fry. Everything looked great and tasted fresh and flavorful. You could certainly bring children here, but I find it better suited for couples or small adult groups. They close between 2 and 5 and also do take out service. There is a bar to order from or sit at to enjoy your drink or wait on take out. We will return for lunch service again.

Very good! Don’t let the outside fool you! The decor and atmosphere inside is very nice and cozy. The hot and sour soup was very tasty, almost with a bit of a sweet flavor. The sushi was delicious. The Spicy Thai Basil Chicken was very well prepared and flavorful, though it was not very spicy at all. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant! If you haven’t tried it, you need to put it on your list.

I throughly enjoyed the atmosphere and live music here. I'm not sure what is considered good wings in Tennessee, but in Oregon we have NOTHING comparable. So yeah, we were impressed with the food. Every place we've gone the staff is so nice, and actually seems like they don't mind you being there. This place is no exception. They had line dancing and affordable prices. I could def see this being my fav little bar if I moved here. Our waitress was green on the job, but she was so sweet and you could tell she was really working to improve. We are from NY. We had to try this place because they claimed New York style pizza. This place has really good pizza. And it DOES hold true to the NYS pizza! We came here for lunch, and this is probably one of favorite spots now! Jenna was attentive and Friendly!! The pizza sauce has so much flavor and the garlic bread was delicious. Thank You Johnny Brusco's for the free wings at the ETSU vs VMI game. They were AWESOME as always. As a Jersey girl I was worried I wouldn't find a decent pizza joint here in Johnson City.... I'm thrilled to say I was wrong. We've dined in many times and have also had food delivered. We've never been disappointed. The pizzas are crisp, perfect portions of toppings, the sauce is made with love. The subs are great, garlic knots incredible, chicken parm fantastic. The restaurant is clean, the team is fun and kind, and you can tell they enjoy working there, which says a lot about a business. If you haven't been there go check it out. If you have - then you know what I'm talking about.

The worker was helpful, the atmosphere was welcoming and inviting. The food wasn’t good. We got pizza (which was not a New York style pizza at all), the pasta wasn’t good, the garlic knots were flavorless and like eating raw dough, the salads were bitter. I had so much hope for this place but by far the worst meal I’ve had ever. It was expensive for the quality of the food. Do not recommend. I honestly couldn’t eat the food and threw it away. I’m hoping I just got a bad day for them, and I like to give a place two chances when something isn’t right but when the food is this bad, we won’t be eating here again. Save your money.

Nestled in the heart of the Tri-Cities, Yong Asian House is a casual dining gem that offers an enticing array of Asian cuisine. From delectable dim sum to flavorful pad Thai and fresh sushi, this restaurant has something for everyone. Guests rave about their specialty dishes like the Malaysian Kari Chicken and Shrimp or the Clay Pot Grouper, which showcase authentic flavors that are hard to resist. The welcoming atmosphere is complemented by friendly staff who ensure a delightful dining experience.
We went out for my second oldest and he wanted Japanese. They have great and service here. We had a party of six and they brought a complimentary tray of crab ragoons.

I’ve been here repeatedly and I believe that this is the best asian restaurant in the tri-cities. They are always busy and a small parking area so you need to get there early

What a great dinner. This is honestly the best Asian restaurant that I've ate at. And I've ate at quite a few different ones. I had the Teriyaki chicken and steak with shrimp ( pictured below ). I could taste the flavors of everything. Absolutely delicious. What I also like about Yongs is that unlike a lot of places that give you less meat and more things like onions, but not here. I felt that they gave me a lot of meat which makes me absolutely love this place even more. Joanne was a great waitress. Highly recommend giving Yong Asian House a try.

It would be perfect all around but it was a bit chilly inside. The food was beyond amazing its a 100 out of 10. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant I have tried.
Sarah J — Google review
I ate at Yong's several months ago and remembered it being very good, so when my husband suggested Chinese for lunch, I suggested Yong's instead of our usual Chinese restaurant. Service is exceptional, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the food is amazing. My husband had the Seafood Delight and declared it delicious. I had the Almond Chicken and it was heaven on a plate. Portions are huge and could easily be shared even by folks who have a big appetite. It is pretty inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food you get. I will be back...maybe this week!

The crab rangoons were delicious, and I really liked the cucumber and carrots they brought to the table, I appreciated it as an extra appetizer, free of course. We both really liked our dishes, but mine was the ultimate favorite with its delicious green beans

Mediterranean restaurant
Babylon Restaurant is a delightful gem in Johnson City, known for its vibrant Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. Diners rave about the Mixed Kabab, which boasts tender and juicy meat paired with crispy fries, while the Chicken Cordon Bleu and Beef Shish Tikka are also standout dishes that leave guests craving more. The restaurant's Beef Shawarma Wrap is expertly crafted to minimize mess while delivering intense flavors that satisfy every palate.
First time patron and it won’t be the last time. Came for lunch and was very pleased. We started with some Pita and Hummus and it was one point; good amount of spice on the Hummus, the pitas were hot and fresh, and we devoured it all. Two at our table got the Falafel and two got the Beef Schwarma; no complaints on the food. I had the Beef Schwarma and loved it. Great combination of vegetables to accompany the meats and it was hot. The French fries were well done, crispy, and lightly salted; they were delicious. Service was quick and efficient. And music was playing in the background. Overall, it was a wonderful visit and I want to come again.

YUMMY!!!!! This place has been around for years...why haven't I been there before this?! I had the chicken kabobs & hummus and my daughter had the grape leaves. All the food was delicious!!! The hummus was the best I've had in this area and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The decor is nothing fancy, but the restaurant is clean, and the server was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back!!
Cam K — Google review
They didn't have the hookahs as in previous menus, I have added the new menu to my pictures so everyone can enjoy! This Is more iraqi than middle eastern The gentleman is From iraq and it has a little bit different taste than the normal lebanese or egyptian type foods. I do recommend getting a turkish coffee while you're there!
Joshua F — Google review
Alright, we waited almost 3 years to try this Mediterranean restaurant since moving back to the US after living in the Middle East for 8yrs...because we didn't want to be disappointed with the food. Our gut was right. The food was awful! I ordered the mixed kabab, which is normally in the Middle East it comes with hot, freshly made arabic bread, and this one came with a half cold tortilla lol...my rice tasted like leftover rice and it was cold. The beef pieces were chewy and hard to eat. The chicken tasted bland. My husband didn't like his Dolma dish much either. He said I can make them better at home. My daughter ordered chicken tenders. They were super hard like a rock, and we could tell they were not fresh. The only things that were fresh and tasted good were the French fries and the lamb kabab. The place is rundown and needs a serious makeover. The only server there wasn't friendly and seemed annoyed by the customers. We complained about our food, and he ended up giving us the kid's meal free. It was our first and last time going there. If you have ever tried authentic Middle Eastern food, you will be disappointed.
Anna A — Google review
We have been eating here for 15 years! The food is excellent. Authentic and always super yummy! We love all the food - from hummus to kabobs, grape leaves to baklava. Service is always exceptional. I have reported the previous post. The cleanliness concern is not valid. The previous reviewer essentially only gives 1 star reviews.
Michelle E — Google review
The only reason I have less stars was because they served tortillas, chicken cordon bleu was just a chicken cutlet breaded but not fresh breaded it was a precooked type just like the kids chicken tender plate. And it had American cheese….The hummus, tabouleh, lamb and chicken and potato stew was good. It just screamed budget Mediterranean like a taco shop versus an authentic Mexican restaurant. Prices were very high for the quality imo.
Tiffany V — Google review
First time coming (down visiting friends in Kingsport from Ohio) and was looking for a nice not too heavy meal. Humus looked good and then saw they served shawarma and my husband was sold. Did not disappoint. He said the beef shawarma was great. I had beef shish Tikka. Very good and the humus was spot on. We also had falafel which was very good. The rice was stellar with some Tikka sauce on it-oh my goodness. We were sad that there wasn't more of the warm fresh pita with the shawarma.
Amanda ( — Google review
Great late lunch here. Steak shish tikka was excellent, hummus was super appetizer. Very nice young man took our orders, cooked and served our food and collected payment. He did all this in a polite and professional manner. Very clean, quiet dining experience. Return trip, see photos. Excellent experience x2.

If you're on the hunt for a cozy spot to indulge in some delicious New York-style pizza, look no further than Luke's Pizza. This charming eatery offers a delightful selection of classic pies and slices, complemented by fresh salads and hearty sandwiches. With its laid-back atmosphere and inviting patio, it's the perfect place to unwind with friends over a cold beer while enjoying live music on Wednesdays.
This is my new favorite pizza place! Large 3 topping w/ garlic knots for $25 is a great price. Right off the road outside of town. Really nice inside. They quoted 15-20minutes on my take out order and it took right around that. The food was amazing its greasy w/ crispy crust loaded with toppings and delicious. The garlic knots are loaded and taste fantastic. 100% will eat here next time I’m in town!
Cody — Google review
The building and cleanliness left much to be desired, but the food was worth the wait. Soft breading, hot, perfectly spiced. The calzone and breadsticks were phenomenal, the garlic knots (which were super dark and crunchy) and the super thin pizza weren't and we left most of those two on the table. Very expensive, nearly $45. Like I said, not clean, dead bugs visible, and slow service, but at least the staff seemed kind and were fine with substitutions we needed to make. Also not enough parking and it felt cramped inside. The seating was highly uncomfortable too.
D.S. G — Google review
Placed an order about an hour and a half before closing, not sure if the folks that work there were in a rush, however my pizza ended up looking like it was rushed and burnt and did not taste as it normally does. I ordered a SPECIAL which was $24.99 for a large pizza, 2 liter, and garlic knots. However was charged $32 and still am not sure why. After I called to ask about the change in the price, the guy on the phone said “I didn’t ring you up” and then HUNG UP the phone. Confused by what just happened, I called again and was hinged up again, called from my friends phone and they did not answer. So earlier today I called and spoke with the owner/manager lady who did not know who was on staff last night, and just wanted to refund my $5-$7 back to my card. For us it’s not about the $5-$7 that was mistakenly charged, it’s about customer service and the quality of the food. Would like to have a better experience next time since we’ve ordered many times and we’re never treated this rudely and never had such awful looking pizza.
Angi — Google review
The pizza came out fresh and fast, the staff was VERY friendly, the canoli ACTUALLY melted in my mouth, and... we will definitely be coming back. Nice to see a beer selection too! Visited on June 22. #grateful

“Knot” the best Monday night pizza night. My first and last time here. The employees were so disconnected and acted like they had no idea how to do their job. I didn’t get a 2L drink OR a tea that I was charged for because it was out of stock. By the time they got their act together and we got home the pizza was ice cold. Very disappointed in this experience as we love supporting local small businesses.
Kristen S — Google review
After an hour wait for our pick up order of 2 orders of chicken wings (understandable as it is Saturday), we got home only to find we were given 8 wings in one order and 9 in another when each order is expected to come with 10 according to the menu. On top of that the wings were somehow cold although we arrived a few minutes early to pickup and waiting for the order to be completed.
Alyssa K — Google review
A lot like the pizza, our experience was quite the flop. We arrived for a take out order early and found our pizza already waiting on us. Part of it anyway, they had left off half our order. While they were trying to fix the mistakes with our order we had time observe a very disorderly and messy bar and work stations. The employees who were all hanging out at the bar seemed more interested in conversing with each other than some basic house keeping or helping out the other customers. They finally scattered to the back when one of them knocked her drink over spilling all over the serving area and register, it was for the best because it forced someone to wipe it down. Our meal was to include a 2 liter , we asked prior to showing up if we could sub that for a tea and we were told absolutely. When we asked for our tea because it too was forgotten we were told they were out of tea just grab a 2 liter instead. We explained there were no 2 liters to grab??? They said oh sorry we must be out of those too… the entire cringy, unprofessional , and embarrassing exchange was too much and we said just forget it and left with what we had. Upon arriving home we found cold uncut pizza with mediocre flavors. First and last time here.

Nestled between Johnson City and the historic charm of Jonesborough, The Kitchen at Grace Meadows Farm is a delightful spot to savor a true Southern-style breakfast. This hidden gem offers an array of comforting dishes, including the unique biscuits with chocolate gravy—an absolute must-try for any breakfast lover! If chocolate isn’t your morning craving, fear not; their menu features all-time favorites like eggs cooked to perfection, fluffy omelets, decadent cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and waffles.
Beautifully landscaped grounds, including a pond, that you're welcome to walk over and enjoy. Dining area a very large open space with tables properly spaced apart. Nice little gift section to browse through. Server was prompt with service & very friendly. Loved the atmosphere & food was delicious as well as affordable. I had the sausage (spicy & delicious) scrambled eggs, grits & homemade biscuits. Plan on making this my go-to spot anytime family comes to town!
Liz W — Google review
Atmosphere is institutional farm. White wood slatted walls, wood floor, and wooden tables and chairs. Don't think Cracker Barrel - the Kitchen doesn't look like Minnie Pearl blew up in it. It's clean and comfortable in a utilitarian sense. The service was attentive, courteous, and accurate. The food is served family style. Your table chooses two meats and for sides and the food is served in common serving bowls. Refills on the meat and sides are free. Each person also gets a dessert. No to-go boxes are allowed except for the desert. The price is $22 a person. The food is ample on the first serving. We didn't finish all of ours. The food flavor is sometimes lacking. We enjoyed the fried chicken. It was crispy and flavorful. The pot roast however, was bland. Putting the gravy on it (the gravy was flavorful) didn't help the roast itself. Perhaps it had been in the pot boiling too long. Whatever, I can't recommend the roast. The iced tea was good. The green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, and the sweet creamed corn were all good. The blueberry pie portion seemed small given the sizes of the sides. The ice cream was tasty. Would we go back? Probably but there are other places we want to explore.

We recently hosted a corporate event at The Kitchen at Grace Meadows Farm, and every aspect exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, the planning process was seamless. The staff was not only professional and accommodating but also incredibly kind, attentive, and detail-oriented. They went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. The food was absolutely phenomenal — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our guests are still raving about the meal! Whether it was the vegetables, the BEST fried chicken, white fish, pulled pork, the ROLLS, or desserts, everything was crafted with care and served with Southern hospitality. The venue itself is charming and welcoming, providing the perfect backdrop for a memorable event. It was clear that the team truly cares about the experience they provide. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to host our event and we will absolutely be back. Highly recommend for any private or corporate gathering — you won’t be disappointed!

Absolutely phenomenal food, service and atmosphere and beath taking scenery. My family recently visited The Kitchen at Grace Meadows for my sisters birthday and had an absolutely fabulous dinner. The waitress was very on point, serving her birthday cake flawlessly. We had the family style meal, with each dish just as amazing as the next with an excellent desert finish!

My husband and I are from Louisville, Tn and are celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. We decided we wanted to go to a small town not too far away for a weekend getaway so we chose Jonesboro and we found the Kitchen at Grace Meadows and boy was it the right choice! We had the sweetest waiter (I’m so sorry I forgot his name but he told us he was 23 and will be celebrating his 3rd anniversary in February). He was very attentive. The food came out quick and so very delicious. We could not have had a better anniversary dinner anywhere! Absolutely loved it!

We ate here tonight and were really disappointed. The service was horrible. We waited for over 10 minutes to get waited on. My husband had to go back up front to tell them. She came and said sorry I was taking out the trash and Noone told me you were sitting here. Food was good. When it came to dessert I ordered blackberry cobbler and it was cold!!! Almost as cold as ice cream! Bathrooms smelled and trash overflowing in the floor. We really enjoying eating here but have no idea what was going on tonight!

If you're a coffee lover, starting your day of exploring a new destination with a cup of joe is essential. Open Doors Coffeehouse, which opened in 2017, is a successful example of Ohio-based Crimson Cups Seven Steps to Success program. This initiative assists individuals in opening local coffee shops. The café offers more than just delicious coffee; it pleasantly surprises visitors with its diverse menu options and excellent service. It's definitely worth visiting even if you don't live nearby.
Absolutely epic spot about 2 minutes off of the highway. Service was spectacular; staff were friendly and helped us navigate the menu, offering suggestions about what to order, what was popular. What was their favorite. Menu was simple, but had great options. Arguably, the best breakfast burrito in my life. Cowboy Burrito, with carne asada protein. Pricing was unbelievable.

Sweet little breakfast place. Love to find local businesses when visiting a new area. Doesn’t have much curb appeal from the outside, but don’t let that deter you. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. Coffee is probably the best in town cause the owner has so much knowledge about coffee. Helped me to discover my new favorite here. And I legit come 4 days a week. The pastries are so good, I can’t get enough of them.

I think the high reviews are a little misleading. You have to keep in mind that a huge portion of the clientele are college kids. I was shocked at how cheap the food was! So if youre not that picky, and you want some cheap eats, this is a great place. I was super disappointed by the avocado toast, the avocado just wasnt ripe and was kind of hard. If you cant keep a good supply of ripe avocados (which I'm sure is difficult in this area), just take it off the menu. Was not that impressed with the waffle. Hot chocolate was great. Drip coffee, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy were solid.

Some of the best sausage gravy and biscuits around. Pretty much self serve ,you order at the counter and you go to counter to get your drinks silverware, napkins ECT. They do bring your food straight from the kitchen so it's good and fresh. My wife's tea and muffin were outstanding 😋 as well. They have a drive thru too Looking forward to coming back.

Italian Pizza Pub has been a beloved fixture in Johnson City since 1983, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. This charming eatery is renowned for its original recipes that have won the hearts of locals and visitors alike. While you can savor classic pizzas, the menu also features exciting new options to tantalize your taste buds. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a slice of history along with your meal.
It’s always good when you go into a restaurant and you hear a customer say, “every time we come into town, we have to order pizza from here”. After eating the food, I understand why. It was good pizza, not greasy at all. This place has real Italians working behind the counter and they know what they’re doing. The bathrooms and restaurant are clean. The service was super friendly. Four slices of pizza was $11.48. We drank free water. There is a bar attached to the back of the restaurant where they have live entertainment at night.

Hands down my favorite pizza in Johnson City! Every single pizza I have ever gotten from here has been a 10 out of 10! Their crust and sauce is perfect as well! We haven’t had the pleasure of trying their Sicilian pizza yet but it is on our list to try. It has a 90 minute window and frankly we’ve been too hangry to wait that long lol. One day though I plan on calling ahead to give it a try. Our favorite combo from them lately has been the pineapple, mushroom, & pepperoni pizza.

Old time ny pizza joint. Food is pretty amazing and the owner is extremely friendly and makes sure you are taken care of. My favorite pizza joint in Johnson city. If you call a day prior you can get an amazing large Sicilian pizza or just go in the day of for a ny slice or pie.
Jeremy D — Google review
The pizza is better than most I've tried in Johnson City. We like the thin crust on their pizzas, but the crust on our pizza was way too thin the second piece was already soggy. However the crust had good flavor.
TJ J — Google review
This has been my regular pizza place of choice since I was a kid, some of the best food I've eaten, never any issues with the quality or flavor. BUT, I am highly disappointed! They change their hours often and inconsistently, and they close for long random periods with short or little notice. At first, the food was worth the inconsistencies, but after countless times of making the drive and being let down, it's obvious their schedule only benefits the owner. They should be more considerate of their clientele.
Kara B — Google review
Wow this place was amazing!! The entire staff was awesome, friendly, and super helpful! It truly is a family friendly, "mom and pop pizzeria". We got the combo pizza and a cheese pizza for our kiddo and both were fantastic! All fresh ingredients, made in-house sauces, hand made dough and tossed in full view (we even chatted with the guys while they made our meals), and they were cooked perfectly. The wings we ordered were incredible as well! We had the hot Buffalo with ranch and let me tell you, they were some of the best wings we've ever had! You have to try this place out and check out the pub while you're there. Super fun atmosphere in the pub and cute lil pizzeria up front. The prices are great and honestly should be higher for this high quality food.

We went to this place while in town visiting ETSU. We decided to give it a try based on its Google and Yelp reviews. OMG - very pleased is an understatement! This place was great in every way! Deliciousness - food, service, and pricing!
J. S — Google review
I stopped by because I heard some good things from friends of mine about the food. I was pleasantly surprised when the Omelet came out and only needed a bit of salt and pepper. Very nice for diner fare, and the portion was generous to say the least. I ordered biscuits as the bread in lieu of the toast. They were good as well, I assume that they're made in house. Every frozen biscuit I've ever had was very sweet to me, these were not. I asked for a bowl of sausage gravy for the biscuits and the server said sure, but it'll just take a few minutes. I believe it was made to order, and very tasty! A bit of pepper and it was perfect. Was it as good as my mom's? No. Was it as good as other diner gravy I've had in the past? It was much better. The young man working there was on top of everything and worked hard to take care of his patrons. I'll be back.

To me this is a dive!! Which we LOVE! Small, tight inside. You can pretty much listen to everyone's conversation which we joined in on one! Lol! Our meals were great! They were very busy. We noticed one of regular customer, took his own dirty plates to the back to be washed. Then there was people that left and this same person got up and cleaned off the table for the next people to sit down. He said they take care of me and I will help them when they are busy. Go show your suppose unless you are looking for fine dining, don't. But I love it!

First time at Penny Man's, a local favorite. The food was quite good for a standard breakfast (eggs, sausage, biscuits, and grits), and the price is definitely right: One of the least expensive places in town to get a full breakfast. My only complaint would be for the grits, which were a little watery and under-seasoned, but everything else was good, and the biscuits were large and delicious. Will definitely be back and bring some friends.

Absolutely lovely place for some delicious coffee and beautiful art! I appreciate the welcoming environment that the staff offer. And so helpful when choosing which drink off their menu to choose from! I ended up with an iced mocha with almond milk and their gluten free “Cosmic Brownie!” Both were SO good! Thankful for this place for offering substitutes for milk and offering gluten free options.

Best coffee shop in Johnson City. The customer service, quality of drinks, and atmosphere is always above and beyond. It is a very welcoming environment. I appreciate their focus on support of downtown business and local artisans. My wife purchased a new tote bag that is perfect for the farmers market after you pick up your cup of coffee or tea. Keep in mind (if you have kids): I feel like the vibes are not quite right for bringing the kids - which is fine if you're childfree or can get away on your own - but I always feel just a little anxious when I've got mine in tow. More of a grab-and-go situation if you're a mom with social anxiety.

Went to a more local commercialized coffee place first. I should’ve come to Dos Gatos from the very beginning. Not only is it a queer-friendly space, but I absolutely loved the environment and the people. The barista was very nice and made an amazing cold brew coffee. I’m from the Midwest, but when I come into town again, I will be back!

This is one of the friendliest coffee shops I’ve ever been to! We stopped in here while visiting Johnson City, and everyone from the baristas to the other patrons were were instantly welcoming and warm - telling us their favorite drinks, and local hiking spots. Great banana bread and lattes too. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to this coffee shop since it opened. I’ve had my art work hanging on the walls at this establishment. However, today I had the most bizarre experience. I know the establishments beliefs, they don’t hide it; they have a flag on the wall, but today I experienced a kind of discrimination. Upon arriving, I go to place my order but before I’m asked what I would like, the two female workers inform me they were talking about lesbians. I smile and wait, but then they start talking about me and how I look like an ‘ally’. Again I smile and wait, I’m then asked to salute the pride flag if I’m an ally to which I say no. They then ask me if I’m going to commit a hate crime to which I reply ‘no’. I ordered and stayed for a little while. But ultimately I’m writing this because no matter the establishment or workers beliefs, that conversation was unprofessional and off-putting. I can, with confidence, say I will not be supporting Dos Gatos any further. Also, my toast was burnt and my coffee was flavorless which is unusual for them.

I love this place! I’m new to the Johnson City area and in my exploration, I knew I needed a good coffee place. The baristas are always kind, the coffee has been great every time I’ve gone. They always display cool art on the walls from local artists of all ages, which is very cool. Love this place!!

Cootie Brown's N. Roan is a funky and diner-like spot that offers globally inspired American cuisine along with an extensive selection of beers. The atmosphere is described as quirky and relaxing, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. Visitors have raved about the fantastic food, with highlights including the pepperoni pizza, blue cheese chips, muffaletta, side chili, Cobb salad, and BBQ nachos.
This was my first time ever coming to Cootie Browns and it was fantastic. I had a salad (to be a little healthy), a smoked bologna sandwich, the blue cheese sauce for the fries & the pumpkin pie cheesecake. Everything was AMAZING and probably one of the best things I’ve ever tasted (and I eat a lot of places). The waitress, I can’t remember her name but she had pink & black hair and black nails, was so nice and friendly!! She was super sweet and even gave me other food recs for Asheville. Will definitely recommend & come again!!

The food was great. I never give five stars because you have to be completely exceptional… And it was close to it… Great gluten-free options! And they were very courteous and friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long for the food… The atmosphere was fun and we enjoyed taking photos.

Our whole softball team had a great experience at this restaurant. They were incredibly accommodating, the servers were SUPER. The menu was really vast, with lots of great items. The atmosphere was very cool and different. They also had a very good Key Lime Pie, it was very tasty.

Wife could not stop eating the steak. It was very tender. Sides were good. I loved the asparagus. The portions were all good. Had the key lime and the raspberry pies. Do recommend them. Mason was the perfect waiter. Would like to try some of their sandwiches next time.

Cootie Brown's reminds you of a restaurant at the beach. There is seating on the outer edge of the restaurant with garage doors that can open in the daytime. But there is also indoor seating offered. The menu is huge and offers many different styles of food. They have burgers, chicken, steak, tamales, pizza, salads, BBQ, etc. The chicken was great and the tamale plate was amazing. Kids got burgers and a buffalo chicken sandwich and everything was eaten, so I guess it was good too! Our server was amazing! ETSU student studying to get into forensic science. He was great at recommending plates and was honest with his dessert choices. That swayed our decision and he was not wrong!

Happened to be in Johnson City TN and saw this place. The restaurant is very unique and the menu was too. They had many choices, from Pizza and tacos to Steaks and Burgers to Fish and BBQ. I had the tuna, salmon, and shrimp dinner, jerk style, which was awesome. If you are in Johnson City TN, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great food, great atmosphere, and decent prices. I will be going back the next time I am in town!

My wife had the Key Lime Grilled Shrimp. Seasoned and grilled to perfection. I had the Bbq Pork Nachos. Better be hungry to eat this nacho overload. Both our meals were excellent. Our waitress Maddie F. was excellent. She knew the menu well. Informed of crowd favorites as well as her own. She saw to it that we wanted for nothing. Great dining experience!

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen is a delightful family-friendly restaurant chain that specializes in American comfort food with a unique Texas flair. On my recent road trip, I was thrilled to revisit this beloved spot after having such a great experience there years ago. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, although the hostess could have brought more enthusiasm to her role—first impressions matter! During my visits, I've developed quite an affection for Cheddar's signature dishes.
LOVE LOVE LOVE CHEDDARS. We go to Tennessee usually every year in the winter time to visit our kids and grandkids and cheddars is about a five minute ride from their house. This year I went four times and I only order one thing when I am there. The Monte Cristo sandwich. I wish they would make it like the original Montecristo, which is a double-decker sandwich instead of single layer, but since I’m trying to watch my figure, one layer is better than two. Absolutely love this place. It’s friendly, clean, and their painkiller alcoholic drink also is delicious.

I had been craving a steak for a while when we got there last evening. I ordered the most expensive steak. Asked for it to be cooked medium rare leaning more to the rare. When I got the steak it was between medium done and well done. I was sad. Normally I don’t say anything because I know how some restaurants can be. But I paid a chunk of change for this steak. I called the waitress, explained the problem and she was kind, courteous and apologetic. The thought ran through my head that they could be jerks about it. When I got my second steak it was RIDICULOUSLY RARE!! Like in my face rare!! I’ll attach a picture I just took. I’m at home trying to recook it and save it now. I REALLY WANTED A GOOD STEAK. Everybody kinda complained about their food on the way home. We all made a collective decision that there are better places to spend our money that serves good food. Shame on the cook!! Shame shame! He is absolutely the reason we will never be back. Also when I get to work I will advise my front desk staff not to recommend them. The businesses we refer are a reflection on us.

We had visited a Cheddar's a couple of years ago and loved it so when on a recent road trip, we had the opportunity to visit one again, we jumped on it. I have to say that everything was good - food, service, etc - except the hostess who seated us. No huge biggie but she seemed very interested in her job, she was grumpy with a frown, and just like she didn't want to be there. I wanted to mention this because first impressions when entering a restaurant are important and I hope management addresses this. A hostess' job is to be smiling and friendly and welcoming, right?

For starters, the whole restaurant is disgusting. The whole floor from the entrance to our table to the restroom. Looks like it hasn’t been swept in days. ALL 4 toilets were clogged but my son and I used them anyways, everyone else was. Our server was beyond friendly and prompt. The food on the other hand, was comparable to hospital food. Croissants glazed in butter, outstanding! The special for today was meatloaf. I got it with a salad and broccoli cheese casserole. Big lettucy salad with 2 tomatoes and 3 croutons, tiny cup of ranch. Couldn’t eat 1/2 of it. Meatloaf had that dryness on the outside like it’s been under the heat lamp for an hour. Dry inside just a stale taste with no flavor or juices or seasoning. Broccoli cheese casserole was ok. It’s the only thing I could eat all of. My wife got the key west chicken and shrimp. Also dry and flavorless with 3 shrimp she could only eat 1. This is the first time ever we’ve left a table full of food behind. Kids chicken tenders weren’t even good.

Cheddars in Johnson City, TN has always been our favorite restaurant. Good food with reasonable prices and always good service. On Friday 9/5/25, we were very disappointed with the quality of our food and the service was painfully slow. My cocktail was delayed over 15 minutes due to bartender unable to make it. Our food was not delivered for 45 minutes. Luckily we ordered an appetizer which was good. My steak was cooked properly but was so full of grizzle I could not cut it with the knife. Very few bites of meat after lots of sawing. Another steak in our order also was full of grizzle. We were surprised how few other people were there on a Friday night. What has changed at this location?

Usually love Cheddar's. Tonight's location did not have Blackened Catfish, just a whitefish. One of us chose the cornmeal crusted white fish with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and the other of us chose 8 oz sirloin, loaded baked potato and salad. Can't say we were crazy about the cornmeal crust. It was too thick and chewy for the delicate whitefish. Want bad, just not a texture we are used too. The mashed potatoes were a bit bland. The steak was excellent as well as the salad and loaded potato Super waiter, Grayson👍💯

1 out of 5 — Consistently Disappointing After a three-year hiatus, we decided to give Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in Johnson City another try, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. Upon arrival, the floors were dirty and the hostess greeted us with a lackadaisical, “couldn’t care less” attitude — not a great first impression. Our waitress provided acceptable service, though nothing exceptional. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (well done) with fries, and my wife had the shrimp with a baked potato and corn. The food, however, was awful. My burger bun was so saturated with grease it couldn’t be picked up, and the patty itself had an odd texture and unpleasant smell. Even after removing the bun and trying to eat it with a fork, I couldn’t take a second bite. My wife’s baked potato was cold, and the sour cream had clearly gone bad. The dining conditions overall felt dirty and poorly maintained. Sadly, I can say Cheddar’s in Johnson City has remained consistent — consistently bad.

The bartender, Austin, stands out for his exceptional attention to detail and friendly conversation with patrons.
We enjoyed our dinner date at the Sangria Soiree! Not only was the food delicious but our server Maeren (hope I spelled it right) was absolutely amazing and such a delight! She was very attentive to the needs of each of her diners and was very good to remember all allergies! She was an unexpected blessing to our evening! Hope to have her as our server in future visits. Traci did a great job explaining each course and showing appreciation to her wonderful team who made the evening possible! A special thanks to everyone involved! I've been looking forward to this evening for a year...so thankful to finally make it to a sangria dinner. Wish these would be offered more throughout the year.

This place has the best of both worlds. If you're dining in, ask for Abigail; she is the best waitress I've ever experienced. If you just want to hang out at the bar and watch some games, Lindsey is the best bartender. Only after one visit, she had my order down to the appetizer, drink, entree, and sides. Mad Greek Restaurant is a delightful gem that offers an array of mouthwatering dishes sure to please any palate. Diners rave about the hand-tossed pizzas, featuring gooey, melty cheese and a crust that's simply irresistible. The gyro platter, complete with Greek potatoes and pasta salad, has become a favorite among patrons. For those seeking something different, the six-topping Stromboli is another must-try option.
Wonderful locally owned Greek restaurant. I found on Google when in town. Staff was friendly and offered menu suggestions that were spot on. I had Greek Chicken. My husband had chicken piccata. Both had Greek salads. So delicious! We took two Tiramisu to go. Equally yummy. Parking is easy and plentiful. One step onto curb and into restaurant for those looking for easy access. I can't speak for the atmosphere of the restaurant or the service since I placed a takeout order through Doordash, but, the man who gave me my order was friendly enough. However, the food on the other hand left very much to be desired. I was so excited to try this place since the reviews were mostly positive but this is probably the worst dinner I've had in recent memory. I ordered the blackened salmon with two side orders of the pasta salad. The pasta salad was nasty and had no seasoning other than straight grease/fat. And it appears they took one serving of the pasta salad and split it into two very small portions. The blackened salmon wasn't much better either. It just was incredibly disappointing for a $19 meal. I can't believe they are charging these kinds of prices for such poor quality and tiny servings. You can see in the photos how the second “side” of pasta salad has been clearly split from one serving. I think you would pretty much get a better experience/ value anywhere else.

Cajun style pasta was just the right amount of spicy! Great portions as well. Smothered chicken was huge, okra was delicious and plentiful. Had lunch, once again and once again not disappointed. First time for getting the small pizza, chicken philly--very flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also at the meatball sandwich with small greek potatoes as a side. The meatballs were moist, marinara sauce and cheese along with the toasted sub was so yummy. This was on par with our fave go to Italian restaurant in the area. Brandy, our server, didn't miss a beat with service, even remembering to ask if we wanted our waters to go. We'll be back.

We came here after a long time away. I ordered the spanakopita and it was no homemade. Tasted like the pieces you get from Sam's. I also ordered the rice. That tasted like the minute rice cups. My husband got the shrimp scampi and he said the shrimp was undercooked and it tasted like lemonade. We were never given refills on our drinks and only checked on once. Our 3 year old really enjoyed the kids cheese pizza.

I ordered breakfast through room service while staying at the DoubleTree hotel. I can't speak to the atmosphere of the restaurant since I never went in there. I got the breakfast skilled with potatoes, bacon, sausage, eggs, and cheese. It was ok. The flavors weren't really blended together as you would expect in a skilled dish. It was more like they threw all the cooked ingredients into a skillet then put cheese on top and stuck it in the oven for a minute to melt the cheese. I wouldn't order it again.

As the name suggests, this is primarily a burger place, and the hamburgers are fantastic. The menu allows you to mark options on a customizable burger. There are even fried eggs as a topping! Very lowkey spot in JC. Me and my wife like to come here pretty often as it’s not very well known (but should be). We always build our own burgers which is cool. Parmesan fries are just fries with Parmesan from like a bottle, not what parm fries should be lol. Overall it’s good food and a nice little atmosphere to relax. It’s in a hotel so take that for what you will. Can’t complain much, we are generally pleased with our meals.

Very good food and a delightfully laid back atmosphere. Though we did have to wait quite an extended period of time before our food came even though the two of us were the only ones dining at the time (25min wait). I believe once the food arrived it was worth the wait time. Though I am surprised they weren’t more busy with over 2,000 different ways to make your own burger it’s impressive for this area.

Unfortunately it was just not good. We got room service and the burger that I ordered medium was raw. Like Gordon Ramsay Raw. My toppings were slid off the whole burger. Besides, the cooks were too lazy to chop up the onions like normal, they also were failing to remove the grease. The staff kept trying to argue and say there is no grease.... but why is it watery? Whatever sauce and cheese they put on was in fact so greasy it about made me sick to my stomach, just putting the first bite in my mouth. They went ahead and charged me for the cheese dip which was also watery and flavorless. I think the chips had been there for a decade. Customer service was whacking for resolution. Let's just say that. The receptionist is nice at least and the waitress was nice except she didn't have any authority to do anything. I hold the manager accountable and the owners of the restaurant have degraded this place since last time I ate there. What a shame. A good restaurant went to waste....

I was told this was a good restaurant. "Great Caso!" No, it was not great, nor was it good. I got the beef tacos and a supreme burrito thingy. Mine had the chicken in it. No beans. The table qas set with cold, stale chips with a side of black bean dip. If you want salsa, you have to leave your table and go to the "salsa bar." The bar consisted of 3 metal containers stuffed into ice. You use the long metal spoons in an ify, not so clean scoop to plop it into little plastic cups that are not practice for dipping. You can't dip a chip into a thimble. Next, I asked for the chunky guacamole since I had issue with their sauce and dip. The guacamole came out as fast as I ordered it. That was a clue. The guacamole was faded green and mostly brown. Slimy as well. I then asked for a top shelf margarita, it came out and was not even in the ballpark of a margarita. I braved it a bit further and tucked into the giant, caso covered, burrito in front of me. It was not good. It was too salty, tasted like burnt onions, and the chicken was dry and basic flavored. I told the waitress that the tacos were awful, and she said she hates their beef too. Why let me order it??? Warn me! I asked for my check and ran out of there. I ordered on doordash from elsewhere and got something more trustworthy, a great burger and fries. I am praying I dont end up with food poisoning since I am here to give training all weekend to a local company. There were so many flies inside the building, I had to wave them away with every bite. I felt I was back in Turkey eating st an alley cart. Avoid this place. I will update whether or not I ended up sick.

Loved the fact that I walked into the smell of “clean”. Someone had just freshly cleaned and I can definitely respect that. It didn’t smell overly chemical like though. It was a pleasant smell that made me feel comfortable enough to eat there, like at my home😁. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated, no loud primary colors, no loud Mexican music. I know some people like all of that busy-ness but I like a calmer, less colorful place to eat. The outside of the building is white with black accents. The inside is neutral tones of light colored brick. The music playing in the background was folksy American music. Immediately upon sitting down, we were brought free chips and salsa. The chips were warm and fresh tasting. Then within another minute, the hostess (Hayley-hope I spelled it right) came over and said our waitress was tied up temporarily and the hostess took our drink order which was super nice (and efficient). The menu has plenty of food and drink options: tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, salads, quesadillas and more. The waitress (bartender) came to the table and took our order. She didn’t write anything down but she got the order right and it was absolutely delicious food. She has clearly been in the food industry a long time because she is friendly and knows what she is doing. I had a question about the cheese and wanted to know if it was shredded or in liquid form. She knew the answer! I can’t tell you how many servers at other places who do not know the answer. The food was fresh tasting; the chicken enchilada was absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned. The waitress explained the cooking process and this place really puts a lot of time and effort in tie their food. Thanks for a great meal.

I have been a long time customer of this place and regularly recommend people to give it a try. As of today I will not be recommending this place to anyone anymore. The service is not good at all and continues to decline. The first incident was when I asked for a certain drink and when the waitress brought it out I told her it was not right and she said she had already put it on my table so there was nothing she could do about it. She then brought me the right drink and took the wrong one but said she still had to charge me for it. I told the manager and nothing was done about it. Fast forward to today when I asked for two drinks.. ( what I order every time) but today I was told that wasn’t allowed. This was after waiting 15 minutes for any service. From past experience I know advising management wouldn’t help so I just left. I will now be recommending Don chentes in JC for everyone who ask about a Mexican restaurant.

We decided to try this place. I would say overall the food was good and the service was wonderful. Our server was very nice and attended to us well. I will proved pictures, but we had already started eating; lol. For two adults and one child it was 78 dollars not including tip.

BBQ spot with wings, ribs, burgers, steak etc. Food is decent. Went for lunch got a pulled chicken bowl salad. You can pick 4 toppings and choose a dressing. Drink was kept topped off and they put some in a cup to go. Playing oldies and These Eyes by Guess Who was playing.

I have been in the “Bones Club” (Smokey bones loyalty program) for over a decade now. The wings are so consistent! I have to do takeout a lot more than dine in because of family schedule. Emma has been the best of an incredible team throughout the years. She knows my order by heart and if I change it up any she makes sure I’m saying it right because “that’s not what you normally get” haha! I’m grateful for people like her who go the extra mile and make you feel like they are truly glad to talk with you and see you as opposed to just hoping their shift ends and you are another person they just “have” to take care of to get paid. 5 stars for Emma and 5 stars for the kitchen team who always put out wings my kids and myself love! 🙏🏾

Went in tonight before 5pm and was told 10 to 15 minute wait. After 30 minutes I gave up and went to take a seat at the bar and just eat there as its first come, First served. When we sat down, there was only a handful of people, and within 5 minutes it was full as the dining room was short staffed on servers. Kate Lynn was behind the bar and she was swamped and in the weeds from where I sat. I told my wife, id have walked out as she was overwhelmed. She kept her composure, and just kept powering through. Did it take a little bit for drinks and food, yes, but under the circumstances, it was as if it came right out. I had wings and onion rings, while my wife had the turkey BLT. My food was up quick, and Kate was all over the kitchen asking where my wifes food was, that they had forgot, and didnt leave the windo until she brought the food out with her. One patron was rude to her, but she kept trudging away. After a while, she did have some help arrive that helped take the strain off of her by herself. The girl done an amazing job and deserves a raise. I tipped her well as she deserved every penny and more. If the restaurant could be staffed by multiple katelynns, it would be quick and on point. She herself deserves 10 stars, I went 4 overall for the original wait. It happens, I get it.

This is the 3rd medium well (which is supposed to be a thin, pink line, not completely red) steak I have ordered for delivery from here. As you can see it's barely been heated, so again I'm going to have to finish cooking it even though there is a reason i ordered it to be delivered to start with. The others was the 18 oz bone-in ribeye and another 12 oz new york strip, they was both raw too. My advice if you want a steak from here is to dine in so you can send it back when it's wrong. Or maybe don't order steak to start with. This is supposed to be the half barbecue chicken. As you can see it doesn't have any breast meat at all. I ordered this at 10:30 which should have been plenty of time to get what I originally ordered. I already rated them based on the steak I ordered, I honestly have to say don't order a delivery order from here because I promise you won't get what you order. It's either going to be raw or just completely wrong. I've spent over $300 here on 3 orders for 2 of us. Save your money and order something else

Their brisket is good but the portions are small. For the price, I think they could increase portion sizes on all their meals, really. Atmosphere is pretty chill and family friendly and there's some wonderful staff and some that shouldn't be working with the public. It takes a certain type of personality to work in restaurants. I'd still recommend giving them a try, for sure. If going to the bar, the drinks are rather light. You'll need to specify that you don't want well but top shelf and may need a double shot.

My friend and I went to get dinner with our two toddlers and we had the BEST experience. Our server's name was Hailey and she was a dream. She gave her assistance with perfect timing as our littles were struggling at first, and she offered to get them some applesauce (saved the day, truly). She was patient, kind, and knew when we needed help and always came in to save the moment. Our food was also so delicious. I got the bowl, and it was mashed potatoes, pulled pork, peppers, onions, bbq sauce, corn, oh my gosh it was so good I'm still thinking about it. I think it would have been easy to write us off as two moms with whiny kids but Hailey could see we were trying our absolute best and gave the most excellent service with ZERO judgment (being a mom is hard sometimes, we truly do our best lol) and kept drinks full, brought out food that was perfect, helped us with our kiddos, and had a delightful personality that did not waver. WE LOVED Hailey. She's an angel. Ask for her to be your server. :-)

Mellow Mushroom Johnson City is a unique pizza chain known for its artistic ambiance and selection of craft beer. They offer a variety of creative stone-baked pizzas and calzones. While some find the prices to be slightly high, the quality of the food and attentive service make it worth it. It's important to consider that there is currently a nationwide shortage of servers, which affects the overall dining experience.
I had such an amazing experience at Mellow Mushroom thanks to our wonderful waitress, Kaycee! From the moment we sat down, she greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel so welcome. She was attentive without ever being overbearing, and she had great recommendations that turned out to be spot-on. Our drinks were always full, food came out perfectly timed, and Kaycee checked in often to make sure everything was just right. She went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable, and you could tell she genuinely cared about providing excellent service. The food was delicious, but Kaycee’s friendliness and professionalism made the whole experience outstanding. If you visit Mellow Mushroom, I highly recommend asking for Kaycee—you’ll be in the best hands!

Always a great place for the wife and me to go to for lunch. Fast and friendly service. Our go to order was the Mighty Meaty pizza and a small Caesar salad. We are used to the meal being a little pricey but the small salad is on our not to order list because of price increases. The pizza was served up hot and as ordered but the bottom of the pizza was way overcooked to the point of being burned in a lot of places. We will be back for another visit and hopefully get a better pizza in the future.

This was our first time at Mellow Mushroom in Johnson City. It’s a little pricey, but the pizza was great! We were not disappointed; they didn’t skimp on toppings. Definitely want to go back👍🏼

We were excited to try this place due to the curb appeal and unique branding. The overall feel of the restaurant was "Mellow" and easy going. All the staff are happy and visible including the kitchen. The open kitchen concept shows honesty and confidence in the business. The overall artistic layout provided a cool relaxed atmosphere to indulge. See my pic of the receipt for everything we ordered but I'll jump to comments on our choices: Reg size salad $8.49 was a little small to share. Large size could be shared 2-3 people. Ingredients used and the ranch/Blue dressings were quality. RB Margaritas were very small for $13+. They were well prepared and great flavor, just very small. 2 large pizzas fed 3 adults + 2 kids age 10 with full bellies and 4 slices left over. The crust and red sauce are very very balanced and delicious. Great job here. The ingredients were fresh large and visible. The cheese is exactly why you visit a place like this vs a national chain....looooong stringy cheese🥰 This place is a 5 out of 5 but I gave it a 4.5 due to the price and small quantity on the margaritas, and a non-sharable salad for $8.49. Advice: add a detailed salad bar!!!! Great job and thank you to all your pleasant staff, we'll return and enjoy more of the menu 😊

This is a great pizza spot with a fun atmosphere and amazing pizza. I had the Holy Shiitake pizza, which I highly recommend. My server, Ayden, was knowledgeable and made good recommendations.

Fantastic regional classic. Expensive, for sure, but for good reason. it's good food and you'll never walk away hungry. local beer selection is great too.

Been here a few times and they never fail to impress. Love the food and service

So I've eaten here multiple times and every time the food was great. However the wait staff haven't been very attentive at all. Our drinks was never refilled, silverware had to be requested I finally had to walk up to the counter to get my check after a long wait... I will continue to go here. But there definitely needs to be some dramatic changes in how their customers are taken care of.
