Incomum is a sophisticated dining spot conveniently located near Sintra's main train station. Chef Luis Santos offers an exceptional culinary experience with a diverse menu featuring gourmet delights such as smoked duck carpaccio and tender stewed octopus. The restaurant provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for elevated family dining, with spacious seating arrangements and impeccable service.
A little on the expensive side for Portugal - perhaps not for a touristy area like Sintra, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. From my range of dining experiences , if they don’t have one already, I’d say it’s worth a Michelin guide recommendation . The food was unpretentious but original at the same time as authentic bringing some new flavours to classic dishes, With the freshness and heartiness that one expects from excellent Portuguese cooking. It was the first time I’ve ever had a Parmesan ice cream Have you sent them paired with beef carpaccio.

We came based on the great reviews, we didn’t have a reservation but were able to be sat on the patio; it was a fairly cold evening so it was just us out there. Our server Luana was amazing! She was very welcoming and flexible to try and accommodate us - even though it was already packed inside. She brought us blankets when she first came out to greet us at our table, and had great recommendations for dishes and wine. We had the beef carpaccio, oxtail risotto & octopus. All amazing, but the risotto might be one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. So so good. We took the tiramisu & mousse to go, also both delicious. They do their tiramisu a little different, with pear soaked in port rather than traditional coffee, and she made sure to explain that to us before we committed to ordering it. The prices were also very reasonable. We wished we had been able to come back again!
Olyvia S — Google review
Happily, Incomium, meaning 'unusual' in English, is right across the street from our hotel and had a table open to reserve on a Sunday evening after we arrived in town. Make that reservation, as there were several people waiting when we arrived and we're them ushered to our seats in the window. The food was excellent and, well, unusual in some interesting ways like the passion fruit risotto that was the beef for her scallops and the vegetable soup I had made from whatever was available that day in the market. I didn't appreciate the €3 euro charge for filtered water, but at least it was good and sampling basic wines prior to committing was a plus as one was passed on because of this. Beatrice was our waitress and fantastic in every way. We would look forward to a return visit.
Karl L — Google review
We had a very positive and special experience dining here. All the dishes truely exceeded all our expectations. The service was professional and all the food really interesting and good. The Carpaccio with Parmesan icecream is an amazing combo! Rissoto with passion fruit - genious. Lobster soup was excellent as well. Highly recommend!

Hands down, the best dinner of my Lisbon trip so far, even though this gem is in Sintra! Visited after a day at the Moorish Castle and booked instantly through the app. The waitress was incredibly kind and let us in early, which was such a nice touch. We ordered the strawberry and goat cheese salad, oxtail risotto, linguine al nero with shrimp, and three beers right after being seated—everything was super yummy! Every dish was bursting with flavor, and we were so tempted to try more of their signature dishes but were too full. For dessert, we got the floating island with vanilla cream, which was innovative and fun, tasting like a dreamy marshmallow. Next time, I’d love to try their sorbet or ice cream instead. Can’t recommend this place enough—amazing food and great service!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved it! We went to Incomum by Luís Santos as a family — my husband and I, plus our two kids — and we all absolutely loved it! My daughter had the penne, my son went for the steak, and my husband and I shared the pork ribs. There wasn’t a drop of food left on our table — we completely finished everything. We were hungry and the food was just so good! Great flavours, good value, friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere. We’d definitely go back next time we’re in Sintra.
Heather K — Google review
Perfection! I find the menu a bit limited but nonetheless, perfect. ❤️ We ordered soup, fish and shrimp curry. We loved it. Service is excellent. The wait staff were all very attentive.
B O — Google review
A little disappointing given the prices and fame of the place. The crab soup and cooked cheese were delicious. The cod fish with potatoes and duck magret were a little disappointing. The fish was a little dry and tomatoes had no real taste to them. The duck was a bit gummy and the puree was too thin. The floating island dessert was innovative and pretty good. The staff is professional and nice. Overall it seems overpriced for this quality of food.

Café Saudade is a historic establishment located in the former Queijadas da Mathilde cheesecake factory, which supplied King Ferdinand II with its famous queijadas de Sintra. The café was meticulously restored using recycled and regional materials, preserving its authenticity. With vibrant decor reflecting Portuguese culture, it has been a beloved gathering spot for generations of Sintra residents since the early 20th century.
My husband and I stopped here for a quick breakfast on our day trip to Sintra as it's conveniently located close to the train station. We were seated at a back room as space was limited. My best memory however was the large portion sizes of the sandwiches 😀 which tasted great as well. The wait was a tad longer maybe because of the crowd that day but we enjoyed our experience anyway. We even overheard other people in the room express their happy shock when receiving their huge sandwiches as well and joined in for a laugh 😅
Shannon D — Google review
This is one of the best cafés in the heart of Sintra. They have great options, both food and drinks. I highly recommend the scones, teas, and milkshakes. The atmosphere is lovely, and the different rooms are beautiful, which is why it’s so popular with tourists. Parking can be tricky, but it’s definitely a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Sintra.
JP — Google review
We only had time to grab a small pastry and an espresso but we’re impressed by taste and the quality of the food. We took ours to go but there is a large seating area and you can order more substantial meal.
Scott L — Google review
Came here for brunch and was so glad to find that they offer gluten free bread! So I had the sardine sandwich which was so good! Big portion too! The sardines went so well w the goat’s cheese, pickled onion and veggies. My partner had the chicken empanada (so much filling in that tiny pastry!) and the Travesseiro de Sintra. He said the empanada was really good but would have been perfect if they had heated it up. I went back and ordered a chicken salad to go for dinner. It was also really good. Generous portion and flavours went well together. It can get crowded and for good reason!

We had breakfast at Café Saudade in Sintra as a family of four, and it was a great experience. There was no wait to get in, and the portions were huge — we even took some leftovers to go. The coffee was excellent, and the cozy atmosphere made it a perfect place to start the day. Conveniently located right next to the train station, it’s definitely a spot worth visiting.

Everything is incredibly delicious. The homemade orange pie is wonderful. The warm pressed tuna sandwich on crispy bread is very filling. The portions are huge :) The service is lovely.

Café Saudade was the first place we stopped for coffee when we arrived in Sintra. The staff were friendly, the space was warm and inviting, and everything we ordered hit the spot. We had the Trio Saudade, a Café Saudade, and an XL latte — all really good. The food came out fast, the portions were reasonable, and the coffee was smooth and strong. The pastries looked 🔥 If you’re just getting into Sintra, this is a great place to start your day and take a breather before exploring. Simple, friendly, and exactly what you want from a cozy café.
Dr. D — Google review
Very cozy place with perfect blend coffee (unfortunately they don't sell it). Food is tasty and hot pressed sandwiches are huge enough for two, not very hungry adult. Recommend it for nice start the day of exploring Sintra. Good luck 🙂

Apeadeiro is a charming restaurant located in the serene countryside near Sintra. Set in a restored 19th-century train station, it offers a unique dining experience with a focus on traditional Portuguese cuisine. The menu features authentic regional dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients, providing guests with a true taste of the local flavors. Despite its popularity among locals and visitors alike, the warm and friendly service ensures that diners feel at ease while enjoying generous portions of classic Portuguese dishes and great wines.
A Portuguese restaurant in Sintra. Recommend by the Arroz de tamboril (Monk fish rice), the taste was not bad, but not as good as the Arroz de tamboril in Lisboa, the rice taste more like a congee. Still overall the food was good. While the service and the environment were also great, give it a try after visiting Sintra.
Lau S — Google review
The food was delicious especially the grilled fish (dorado). Garlic butter shrimp was also good but just a bit of stinky taste. Kudos to the all the staff they are so very helpful and nice. The ambiance is very nice and neat.

This was the best meal I've eaten anywhere in Portugal. Every ingredient is local and treated with respect. The sea bass was fresh and prepared masterfully. Truly, a perfect meal. Muito Obrigado! 5⭐

Had the kebabs (house and Madeira style). It came with a salad and fries. The Madeira style was amazing yet the house style was okay. The portions were large but it was quite expensive. Also, ordered sangria blanco espumante and it was amazing. Overall decent food but overpriced. Service was great, but they charge a cover fee which I would have liked to know before hand.

monkfish soup = portuguese version of chinese congee 🙌🏻 my friend had it and she said she felt alive!! it's on the saltier side though. owners were kind enough to let us get settled at a table and read the menu before they opened 🙏🏻 free, stable wifi access makes it easy for travelers to navigate the area too! thank you for your hospitality, and for the complementary small pillows and port wine ☺️

Enjoy service here, thanks for great hospitality from crew named Kazi. We love the food, especially monkfish rice.
Fifi L — Google review
I came here based on reviews. We ordered the monk fish rice. It was very fishy taste and not good at all. I had seafood rice in Lisbon at Duque which was outstanding. This was not good. We also ordered fried pork, schnitzel, but it was sautéed pork with brown sauce. Really bad. I would not recommend this place at all. Pork was chewy and the sauce was terrible.
Lauren P — Google review
This restaurant is definitely a 5 out of 5! While everything we tried was delicious, what we liked the most were the sardine and deer escalope—both dishes were exceptional, bursting with flavor. The desserts were also amazing, rounding out an incredible dining experience. The food alone would make this place worth visiting, but what truly sets it apart is the outstanding service, which went far beyond our expectations. During our visit, the service was both attentive and warm, particularly from Kareem, who made us feel genuinely welcomed. However, it wasn’t until the next day that we truly realized just how exceptional the staff is. One of our family members discovered they had left their bag at the restaurant. The bag contained all their credit and debit cards, passport, and some cash—a potentially disastrous situation. We contacted the restaurant, worried about what might have happened. When we spoke to Kareem, he immediately reassured us that the bag was safe and in his care. This news was a huge relief. We hurried back to the restaurant, where we found everything in the bag untouched—a testament to the honesty and integrity of the staff. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Portuguese cuisine, fresh seafood, and delightful traditional desserts in an environment where you can trust the people as much as the food.

Restaurant
Tascantiga is a laid-back restaurant located in the historic center of Sintra, offering a modern twist on traditional Portuguese tapas. The chef, Vitor Paes, puts a creative spin on classic recipes, serving up dishes like confit pork cheeks with mushrooms, fried cuttlefish with aioli, and codfish cakes with olive puree and ham powder. The restaurant also offers outdoor terrace seating where visitors can enjoy their meal while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
Amazing food and atmosphere! If you’re in Sintra, it’s a must try. My personal favourite was the octopus blades which comes with grid shallots as garnish and it tasted amazing. My other fav was the pro cheeks and it was so tender and juicy! If what we had at dinner is any indication, I’m sure the rest of the menu is also amazing!
Scott L — Google review
Efficient services. Lots of tapa to choose from. We enjoyed the food. The sausage is a bit too salty. The potatoes wedges are flavoured and are served with mayonnaise and ketchup. The mayonnaise is good. The seafood salad has shrimp, octopus and mussels. The octopus is well cooked and we love the texture. Good to recharge ourselves after visiting the Quinta da Regaleira.
Wing L — Google review
Amazing food and excellent service. The tapas portions were generous. There were four of us, and after ordering two soups and six tapas, we left feeling very full and completely satisfied.

WOW!!! I wish I had come here for lunch every day. It’s an amazing menu, incredible service, great concept, and all absolutely delicious. I had prawns, cod fritters, apple and toffee dessert, and port wine. I cant recommend this place enough.
Lynsey — Google review
Amazing tapas! One of the best highlights of my trip to Lisbon. Great flavours and variety. To expect a queue at peak hours but it’s worth the wait. The port tonic was delicious! Their octopus, calamari, wings were good. Pumpkin petit gateux dessert is a must with their cheese ice cream.
Abii M — Google review
Great place to have lunch in sintra. The food was all pretty good, we particularly enjoyed the prawns and the sangria. Staff were able to help me find gluten free options
Marianne L — Google review
Despite being located in a prime tourist spot, Tascantiga served some impressive tapas. The wait can be long (up to an hour) during peak season, but we were lucky to wait only 10 minutes for a table. Their table turnaround time is quick because the food comes out pretty fast. This is a great place to get lunch during a day trip to Sintra and Pena Palace.

One word. DELICIOUS. We ordered 4 dishes and the sangria. All were so yummy!!! The staff who looked after us (I am so sorry, I didn’t ask for a name), was so lovely and even gave us great recommendations. She even checked in regularly!

Portuguese restaurant
Romaria de Baco is a delightful gem that encapsulates the essence of Portuguese cuisine in a charmingly restored setting. This restaurant invites diners into a cozy atmosphere, ideal for romantic dinners or gatherings with friends. The menu pays tribute to Portugal's culinary legacy, featuring beloved dishes like bacalhau à Brás and hearty Alentejo-style pork. Conveniently located near the Sintra Myths and Legends Museum, it’s an essential stop for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic experience.
We had a fantastic experience at Romario De Baco. The waitress was brilliant and picked us a wine we both loved when the one we ordered turned out to be out of stock. We really appreciated her offering to find us something similar and letting us try some to have with our meal. The meal itself was brilliant, excellent tapas which was served to us when each dish was ready, which helped us pace ourselves! We enjoyed beautiful fried seafood, Portuguese sausage in pastry, lovely pork belly and this delicious steak with pickles and garlic- order this steak tapas if you go it was incredible! One of the best dining experiences of our holiday and we’d love to come back. Thanks to all the staff for their patience and willingness to speak English too! Make sure you reserve a table a few days before as it was busy! I did this easily online.

A fantastic little restaurant that serves traditional Portugese cuisine. We came in for a very late dinner but the servers were still very friendly. Interior was warm and rustic and very cozy. We got couple tapas and a main dish to share. My favourite was the whole fried squid which was hot and fried to perfection. The puff pastry and goat cheese and ham was also very tasty and I would recommend you get multiple because you only get one per order. The shrimp curry was good but I think there are much better options in terms of the main course. Overall I would recommend this place if you’re ever in Sintra!
Scott L — Google review
Found this place as we were walking in beautiful Sintra. We were warmly welcomed and started looking into the menu. The place is charming and the reviews seemed really good, however I left the restaurant a bit disappointed. After getting our meals, no one came to check how things were. I got the grilled Octopus and it was okay, nothing good or bad to say, it tasted okay. If you order that just make sure you don’t eat the piece of toasted bread.. it’s a deco. I asked the waitress about it when I left since it was rock hard and she explained it wasn’t meant to be eaten.
Lawrence — Google review
We were exhausted going in so our dinner experience was a little short. I got what was called grilled pork belly, but it was definitely fried. Still delicious if a little bit salty. The black sausage bread pudding was what we would call stuffing and was bland enough to leave untouched. She got what was called slow cooked pork but I would bet it was beef, deep dark brown and delicious and also labeled 'cheeks'on the invoice. We can eat anything, but if you have restrictions be very careful here. Service was average, ambience basic.
Karl L — Google review
Thinking about this experience it wasn’t about the experience at all. It was about putting fuel in our body. But sadly, I didn’t even feel like I got fueled. We ordered the ham and cheese plate, which was weak in serving and impressing us. Then we order the pork in puff pastry. That was even more disappointing. They were tiny round bites that were dry. Overall, the service was kind and I don’t have anything bad to say about them. But the food was not enjoyable and I would not go back.
Kenzie W — Google review
After a day of hiking and sightseeing we were looking for a nice restaurant. We found this place which offered great service and amazing food. The atmosphere there was very cozy. Best Port wine sauce we had in the region. The meat was cooked perfectly. And the desert was equally good. A definite recommendation for your stay in Sintra.
Sebastian K — Google review
Finally delicious food in Portugal, (after traveling about 2490 km), a real salad that included, among other things, enough tomato and cucumber, soft and fresh bread, excellent wine, cheap prices, great service, and even honesty,,, they refunded me 50 euros that I gave by mistake (too much). An excellent culinary experience for a cheap price.

During my visit to Sintra, Portugal, I had the opportunity to eat at Romaria de Baco, and it was an experience that exceeded my expectations. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, with a charming mix of the rustic and the modern that reflects the historic spirit of the city. The service was excellent: the staff was friendly, attentive and willing to explain each dish in detail. I tried some typical Portuguese dishes and I was delighted with the quality of the ingredients and the presentation. The wine, as it could not be missing in a place with that name, was another great success: they have a very well-kept local selection. If you visit Sintra and want to enjoy good food, an intimate atmosphere and first-class service, Romaria de Baco is a mandatory stop. Without a doubt, I would come back.

Nau Palatina is a charming restaurant located in Sao Pedro de Penaferrim, a short walk from Sintra's bustling center. Nestled within the walls of a historic palace, this culinary sanctuary offers an exceptional dining experience that celebrates Portugal's rich maritime history. The menu features petiscos crafted from locally sourced ingredients, including ham-and-almond-topped toasts, pink prawns, pork cheeks, and indulgent desserts.
We had an amazing dinner here. We accidentally arrived too early, but the restaurant owners were kind enough to allow us to seat inside and wait for dinner to start. Everything on the menu was delicious and this place is definitely worth reserving for dinner when in Sintra. Dishes are perfect for sharing. All the staff in the restaurant speak excellent English and they would explain the dishes to you and which part of Portugal they’re from.

Great place to taste small local dishes that are also vegetarian. The team, the owner and the charming wife Yolanda who is a great cook were very attentive and lovingly explained what was on offer to every single client. The dishes were the best I ve had on this 10 day trip. I had the chickpea paste, beetroot salad, melted goat cheese on toast and the fantastic egg roll for dessert. A great find in Sintra

We literally LOVED this place and its staff!! The fish courses are Incredible as well as the lentils rice/arroz. The owner is very gentle and enthusiastic of his wife's cuisine (and he's very right!) and the waiters are very nice too. Last but not least, here you'll find a quiet, no-touristic milieau! Make a reservation! It’s the best meal we had in Portugal. The atmosphere is relaxed and food is top notch. Everything is very good. Even the kids age 4-7 enjoyed the night here, too. The shrimp, the pork neck, the octopus and the beef stew were all very good. We had 3 different kind of desserts and they were all very special, too. 10 out of 10!

The menu features small, tapas-style portions of Portuguese cuisine, encouraging guests to try a variety of plates. The friendly staff provides outstanding service, explaining the menu and dishes in the tiniest details. Customers can enjoy a full, diverse meal without overspending. Even late after the kitchen had closed, desserts were still served to us with a smile. We have dined there as a family of four, and everyone, including the vegetarian, was more than satisfied. It is a must-visit in Sintra if you’re looking for excellent food with a welcoming atmosphere!

We had an amazing tapas meal here and loved every single plate. The pumpkin chile dip and chickpea hummus were full of flavor and perfect for sharing. The tuna ham strips, along with the meat and cheese platters, showed off both creativity and quality ingredients. The zucchini and chickpea soups were comforting, while the sauced potatoes added a deliciously hearty touch. We ended with the ricotta cake, which was light yet indulgent. Everything was so good that we finished every dish without hesitation — truly the best tapas experiences we’ve had. On top of that, the owner is amazing and the service is top tier. This is one of those meals that my wife and I will remember for the rest of our lives. A big big thank you to Nau Palantina for this wonderful memory

Tacho Real is an upscale restaurant located in Sintra's center, known for its traditional Portuguese dishes and seafood. The restaurant offers a charming old-world ambiance with a 17th-century interior adorned with green tiling, white tablecloths, and wooden chairs. Guests can enjoy terrace seating on warm days while being serenaded by live guitar music. The menu features specialties like bacalhau a bras, steaks, and mouthwatering desserts including house-made cakes and tarts.
Tacho Real is the real deal; the value for the quality of food is right on the money, the service is exquisite, and the presentation of both the restaurant and the dishes produces a sense of charm I hadn't felt in any of the other restaurant I visited throughout my time in Portugal. The only small thing of note was that half of the steak au poivre was a bit overcooked.
Isaac S — Google review
Really cute location in a hotel in Sintra. Our tour guide recommended we go here for lunch to eat some traditional Portuguese cuisine. The service was great - our waiter was very kind and personable and explained some of the dishes to us. We ordered the veal steak and steak as mains and garlic prawns as a starter. Prawns were disappointing - slightly overcooked and sauce was a bit salty. We noticed the last prawn on our plate was not deveined at all - which was pretty disgusting and unsanitary. The bread was not good. Dry and cold. The veal steak I ordered was quite good, but the other steak my cousin ordered was not. Undercooked (she asked for medium) and the creamy sauce with capers did nothing to improve the flavor. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but we were disappointed with the food.

Great place to visit after spending the day at the Palace. The green sangria was incredible! The charcuterie appetizer was phenomenal. The steak au poirve was amazing and loved the sauce so much i ordered fries just to be able to dig up more of that sauce and the fries were the perfect vessel! Definitely recommend visiting here!

Our tour guide left us on this side of town for lunch during our Sintra tour. We climbed over the hill and stumbled upon a beautiful restaurant. The food was very fresh and cooked to perfection. Although I'm not usually a fan of potatoes, the ones they served were wonderful. Our waitress recommended the Beef Wellington, one of the best we had ever had. The fish fillet was also fresh and tasty, with a hint of salt that made the dish delicious. We chose to sit outside to people-watch and enjoy the fresh air. However, the ground was angled and less comfortable than we had hoped. Despite this, we enjoyed the food and service, which made our lunchtime experience enjoyable.

Tacho Real is tucked in the bustling hills of Sintra, the atmosphere and people are wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious!! We will absolutely go back here if/when we are ever back in Sintra, it’s a must do if you’re there even for a little while.

Lovely lunch, good service, fair price. Lovely people watching terrace. We had cod, a bottle of wine, and water, shared dessert and 2 coffees. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

A restaurant fabulously nestled at a junction that's ideal for people watching. We sat outside as a large tourist group booked out most of the tables. We really enjoyed the cod, but the partridge was quite heavy on the red wine. The lemonade didn't come with ice despite it being an extremely hot afternoon. Overall we enjoyed the experience for the nice views, but the food & drinks left something to be desired.

When visiting Sintra, be sure to indulge in the local delicacy known as Queijadas da Sapa. These delectable little cheesecakes have been a Sintra institution since 1756 and are crafted by hand in the traditional manner. Made with cheese, eggs, milk, flour and sugar, these fluffy pastries are a must-try when exploring the town's culinary heritage.
It is a very small cafe with tasty pastries and desserts. It is also very close to the Sintra train station. The local taxi driver who drove us down from the mountain was also recommending it.
Arda T — Google review
I really enjoyed stopping at this place. Absolutely loved the cappuccino! The staff was very friendly too. I found the queijadas a little too sweet for my liking. Loved the other pastries. The staff was friendly too.
Reni A — Google review
A traditional place with a cute terrace and good looking pastries. I tried the traditional queijada and I didn't expect it to be that good! So sweet but with an intense flavor, I really recommend it! It's small but perfect for a sweet treat.
Rocio Z — Google review
Friendly guy behind the counter. I needed to go to the toilet, and very understandably he said I could if I bought something. I chose their ‘specialty’, a small cute pastry which is very tasty indeed! Interior is absolutely charming and beautiful, they seem like a place with heart that exists for a long time and has a classy vibe. The other pastries looked really amazing and high quality too.
Flora R — Google review
The oldest and most traditional bakery in Sintra. We wanted to compare the queijadas from here and from Casa da Piriquita, and these were much better. Absolutely delicious! Despite some reviews saying they don’t accept cards, we paid by credit card without any problem.

Various options of desserts from the traditional queijada to almond cakes… The pity is that you have to ask what are the cakes as they do put description…

We stoped here on our way out of Sintra. We had the best toast here. We ordered it to go but we had to eat 1/3 right away. When you order it to go open the lid or it will go wet from steam. It is made with lots of butter ham and cheese plus oregano on top is great. Don't hesitate and get some.

Tucked away on a quiet street in Sintra, Taberna Criativa is a charming wine bar and bistro that offers an exquisite taste of Portuguese cuisine. With only 30 seats, this intimate spot has become a beloved local gem under the guidance of chef Victor Rocha. Diners can indulge in standout dishes like the garlic and pepper steak, delectable carpaccio de bacalao, and Rocha's delightful homage to the iconic pastel de nata pastry.

Ordered the catch of the day - perfectly cooked fish with tender meat and beautifully crispy skin. The vegetables were delicious too. The plate itself was a piece of art - almost too pretty to eat haha. I really enjoyed my lunch!

Great little wine bar with a cosy atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. The food is quite simple with no frills but well cooked - the only criticism was that it lacked seasoning. We had had vegetable dumplings to start and tomato soup followed by vegetable risotto and salmon with a coriander oil.

A simply excellent restaurant! The chef is an amazing virtuoso who combines complex cooking techniques expressed in particularly delicious dishes that whet the appetite and enhance the culinary experience. We really enjoyed the food!!! The service was pleasant and kind and on our next visit to Sintra we will definitely return there! Recommended from the bottom of my heart!!!

Dine on my own. Wanting to have a nice steak for tea. Very nice! It worth the price. The chef is really good. The service was good, but there is room to improve. I would of give 5 stars but something did really not go well. I have been offered at the beginning of the meal few slices of bread with some spreaders. These were already plated and offered to me on a plate. I was not explained that these were not just part of a welcoming starter, but just got billed for it at the end. Roughly 6 extra euro that has not changed my life, but I rather have know I was going to be charged for it. It’s just a simple thing, but change a lot the outcome of the experience. I presume is not the staff fault. Anyway food great, staff friendly, slightly overpriced for the experience, but I guess is part of visiting Sintra. Would I come back, not sure.

Cantinho de São Pedro is a charming family-owned restaurant located in the heart of Sintra's historic center. It offers traditional Portuguese cuisine with a focus on warm hospitality and home-cooked meals made with love. The cozy interior features white stucco walls, exposed brick, expansive windows, and a large fireplace. The menu showcases Portuguese dishes with a French influence at fair prices, attracting both locals and tourists.
Very friendly, local & authentic Portuguese food here. We visited late at night and received much larger portions than expected! Highly recommend a visit! The cod fish dish is huge and enough for two people to share.

It was fine. A bit pricey, good service. The sirloin steak with cafe paris (herbs and butter) sauce was delicious.

First of all, the service was excellent. Our waiter explained how appetizers work in Portugal, was very welcoming toward tourists, and spoke good English. He also gave us some great recommendations. The pork cheeks were absolutely delicious — the meat was so tender it practically melted in the mouth. The portion was generous, and I asked to take the rest away, which was no problem at all. The waiter even suggested what the dish would pair well with at home. The only downside was that I wasn’t asked about the side dish — I would have preferred boiled potatoes instead of fries.

Cosy charm with hearty flavours. Great service and everyone spoke English which made our ordering easier. Will return!

Went for Sunday lunch. The place was packed to the rafters. Very local feel and vibe. Quaint and traditional! The menu had many classics of Europe, but we stuck to Portuguese cuisine. We ordered the pork leg with chestnut and the granny's beef stew. Both the plates came with potatoes on the side. To drink, we ordered water and house wine! The plates were humongous, and there was no room for dessert. Finished with a cafe. Overall a great lunch experience! Sat for 3 hours plus!

Casa Piriquita is a renowned local institution in Sintra, satisfying sweet cravings for over 160 years. Founded by Amaro dos Santos and his wife Constancia Gomes, the bakery initially gained fame for baking Queijada, a cupcake-like pastry enjoyed by King Carlos. Later, their niece Constancia Cunha introduced Travesseiro, a pastry filled with sweet eggs and almonds.
Our stop here was my highlight of Sinatra! The pastries were out of this world! Every. Single. One. You can’t go wrong ordering here. We walked in and had to grab a ticket from the old school red machine. It did take some time to get served but that was fine by us as it gave us time to decide what we wanted. Our order consisted of: 2 travesseiros (traditional, almond- what they are known for), two queijadas da sapa(I think is what they are called- they are the other traditional pastry!), almond cake, and one chocolate truffle. All of them were phenomenal. I really enjoyed the travesseiro. This is a must stop when in the city. The best of the best in my opinion.

Loved every single pastry that the salesman picked out for me after i asked for his recommended selection ! I highly recommend this authentic bakery !! everything they sell is absolutely worth trying. The pastries are fresh, full of flavor, and you can really taste the tradition in every bite. What really stood out was the guy working there , he was helping so many tourists all by himself, even making the coffee too !! Honestly, I don’t understand how a place that busy and successful doesn’t have at least one more staff member to help him out on the takeaway section . It would definitely make the waiting time shorter. Unless, of course, keeping the line long is part of their strategy 😉 and honestly, with pastries that good, it might just be working! 😄

This is a place you don’t wanna miss out on your visit to Sintra. Situated in the bylanes of the historic centre, this place is heaven on earth. Travesserio pastry, their signature filled with Almond cream was exceptional. Thats what they are known for, they have options of apple and Nutella too. Their quiejadas, basically a cheese and cinnamon, well known in Sintra was also quite good
Vinay G — Google review
Didn’t have any issue getting a table. Most people are quick with their pastries and coffee so they can start their day of exploring so if there is a wait, it’s not long. Tried all 5 of the pastries at the too of the menu (known for) and their pastel de nata. My favorite was the travesseiro (pillow). The coffee is really good here.

Casa Piriquita is an essential culinary experience in Sintra, highly recommended for anyone visiting the historical town. With a legacy dating back to 1862, the focus is squarely on their famed signature sweet, the Travesseiro. The experience starts with queue management; visitors must collect a token to be served, and a waiting time is expected, especially during peak hours. However, the service staff are exceptionally fast and efficient once your number is called, minimizing the overall delay. The highlight, the Travesseiro, was served warm, which significantly enhanced the flavor and texture. This elongated puff pastry is flaky and utterly delicious, living up to its legendary status. Crucially, the pricing is extremely fair: pastries and cakes are priced around €2.00, providing excellent value for a high-quality, authentic Portuguese sweet. Verdict: Despite the required wait, the high quality of the warm Travesseiro and the fair pricing make Casa Piriquita an absolute must-visit for a true taste of Sintra.
Jayadeep R — Google review
We took away their pastel de nata and pastel de sintra. Their pastel de nata was really good! Flaky crunchy crust. The egg custard wasn’t overly sweet and had a great balance of flavour. Not too oozy and not too set..perfect texture! We preferred this over the pastel De nata from Belem!
Jasmine — Google review
This was hands down the best pastry shop I’ve ever visited! The traditional pastries were freshly baked all day long, and you could really taste the difference. We arrived around 13:20 and were lucky to grab the very last table because it was so busy. Our waitress was incredibly kind—she explained each specialty in detail and even made sure to point out which ones weren’t suitable for food allergies. We tried four different pastries: 1. Travesseiro da Casa Piriquita 2. Pastel da Cruz Alta da Casa Piriquita 3. Pastel de Sintra da Casa Piriquita 4. Noz Dourada da Casa Piriquita My friend’s number one was the Travesseiro, while mine was the Pastel da Cruz Alta. Each pastry had its own unique taste—flaky, chewy, and full of flavor—so I’d honestly recommend trying them all and finding your own favorite! If you’re planning to visit Sintra, a stop at Casa Piriquita is an absolute must. You simply can’t leave it off your itinerary. If I could give them 10 stars, I absolutely would!

Ordered a salmon bagel and a toast with guacamole and poached eggs. Both were fresh and flavorful, especially the salmon. We also tried a travesseiro, one of Sintra’s traditional pastries, which was delicious: flaky, light, and just the right amount of sweet. Food is not bad, employees are not kind to customers. As I waited for my family sitting on the chair after I paid "To Go" price (cheaper than "Dine In"), he asked me if I dine with very angry tone, so all of my family members were pretty frustrated, and upset. This meal was one of the highlights of our time in Sintra. Not only was the food incredible, our server was an absolute gem. He recommended a few dishes based on his personal favourites but also provided cultural context for things we should try, which was super helpful. The octopus was probably the best thing we have eaten thus far in Portugal, it was insanely soft and perfectly seasoned. No fuss just simple, precise execution. The 5 pepper steak was a delightful flurry of different flavours that unfold onto each other in a beautiful way and the Cod with cream was super warm and comforting. Overall great meal and definitely will return should we come back to Sintra.

This wine store is located in the historic center of Sintra, in front of the Royal Palace. It has been open for more than 30 years and is one of the first wine stores in Sintra. The store has a large selection of wines, and their wine tasting experience was incredible. They have some of the best wines in life, and their pastries were also tasty. The service was great. I would definitely return to this wine store.
Our host to this beautiful quaint little cafe, Christina, was a lovely person with a smile on her face at all times! The food was on point. The pastel de nata and the chorizo flame grill was especially amazing. The bifana sandwich was alright. Would highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Sintra.

The sandwiches and tostadas were amazing! I also got the most refreshing port tonic which let’s be honest you should too!!! The soup of the day was great and the views of Sintra made the spot an 11/10. Also shout out to Susy because she made our lunch so much nicer with excellent service. Only thing is that the restaurant is on a hill so the table was at an odd angle but to me that was another positive :)

Nice place to stop for lunch. The food is like tapas that compliment wine well. They carry a lot of local wines. Service was good. Its in a busy area. Our table was on a slant and wasn't big, so its a bit awkward to sit at and when all our food came we really had to squeeze everything in. Also wish they had umbrella over the table.

A pretty decent restaurant right next to the Palacio Nacional. Food tasty, service quite polite although you can see that sometimes the waiters have had enough. Anyway, during our visit everything was ok. For three people 70£ with tip. Quite ok

We went to this place after wrapping up our Sintra experience. Had some trouble getting a table initially but did get one after a while. Service was slow and not the most prompt. From a gastronomic perspective, I would say this place is better for those who prioritize drinks with a tapas/accompaniment and not the other way round The port and tonic I got here had a white wine and featured cinnamon sticks in the drink which was a first. And a refreshing first too! The sweet potatoes and rosemary was just that. Sweet potatoes and rosemary 😁. Nothing fancier, no extras, no seasoning or other flavours. As you can see from the photos they were boiled and diced into fairly big blocks. The bolinhos in bacalhau here were fairly average. The cod tasted not the most fresh and a little dry. The ones we had in Guimarães had a far better interior. The lentils accompanying the bolinhos were average as well. The bifana sandwich here was also rustic and on the dryer side. It tasted fine though. On the whole i imagine you can probably find better places near the sintra historical center if food is your priority but this place was legit if you want to nibble a little something by your wine/beer. The alcohol is the bride here, the food the bridesmaid.
Tushar P — Google review
Nice little bar in the middle of the touristic centre. Food and wine were definitely okay but a little too expensive for the quality. We had the meat and cheeseboard and green wine, both of which were fine but definitely not as good as other places we have been to in Portugal. Good service though.

This classic establishment serves a blend of Portuguese and international cuisine in a historic building. Situated across from the Sintra Castle, it offers fantastic views from its patio where guests can observe dessert preparation.
WOW! The drinks, food, and service were absolutely amazing. My wife had the shrimp pasta—rich, buttery, and full of flavor. I had the octopus with potatoes and spinach, and it was mouthwateringly delicious. We came to Portugal by cruise, but honestly, if we had arrived by plane, I’d come back here again without question. If you’re in Sintra, I highly recommend this restaurant. A truly unforgettable meal!

Right near the historic centre and loved the location. Nice patio vibe. Confused staff who have no idea what they are doing. Like zero idea. Took 15 minutes to get a Diet Coke to come. Fairly arrogant - killed the experience. Loved the legumes soup - was really good. The chicken breast pieces were pretty good and the bread was fresh. Had a salad which was pretty good too.

Café Paris in Sintra was such a fun stop – honestly one of those meals that sticks in your memory for all the right reasons. The place itself has this old charm, right in the middle of the action, but what really blew me away was the food. I went for the meat dish and it was unreal. You know those videos where the steak is so tender it just falls apart? That’s exactly how it was – it literally melted in my mouth. Hands down one of the softest, juiciest pieces of meat I’ve had in a long time. Then came the sangria… and wow. They don’t play around here. The glass was so tall it felt like a show on its own, and the mix was spot on – fruity, fresh, and dangerously easy to drink. We also tried a salad with salmon, cheese, and a fruity twist that tied everything together. Sounds simple, but the mix of flavors was a little bit crazy in the best way. All in all, Café Paris is more than just a spot to eat – it’s a full experience. Good vibes, great food, and a couple of fun surprises you won’t forget. Definitely worth sitting down for if you’re in Sintra.

The location is near the historic site, which is comfortable, enjoy watching the crowds during lunch time. Indoor seating has air conditioner, out door seating is satisfying by sitting in the shade of tree.

This was recommended by our tour guide. The atmosphere is fab, and was seated quickly by one of the staff (curly hair), but the service - if there was a negative star I would give that. We ordered octopus w/ aoili starter and linguine pasta for my friends and me. The shrimp/clam linguine came out first, and we started eating, but it wasnt until halfway our meal, our octopus starter still not been served. I was waiting patiently to get one of the staffs(black hair, tied back,w/ glasses) attention, but she seems busy with other things, such as sorting napkins and cutleries. I ended up coming to her to ask for the octopus, she said, "it wasnt served?" She then said, 1 minute. Like how did she not know it wasnt served, shes the one that served out linguine. She asked a few other tables, is everything ok?, but not asked us. We waited, and waited for the octopus up to the point that i nearly cancelled it. Then it came, and no apologies for it being late. The octopus was a starter, and it came after we have finished eating the linguine. We did asked for service water, but was given bottled water, unsure if she didnt hear me. I am unsure if it mattered, as we are the only Asians there, BUT we are a paying customer. Its such as a shame as the food and ambience is great, but the service is such a let down. I would not recommend this place.

Cafe Paris is just outside the square of national palace of Sintra , there’s range of food choices but this place isn’t cheap . Most main dishes ranges from €18 to €55 so be sure before you step in .. the big board outside the cafe shows the menu but without the prices so it can be a catch . The food portions are big . My salad was good and generous portion . It was ok

Food is good, not exceptional! Prices are high but that is normal in such a touristic place. Service was good, personal is nice:) would recommend for a quick lunch/diner.

Price for sandwich mozzarella 6 if take away. 8.60 if you eat there and sit. I said ok but i will then go for a beer somewhere else. They said i will get sandwich for 6 eur. They still charged 6.80 eur! Predatory practices targeting tourists. Beer wasn't good but overpriced, sandwich had old dry bread. I would avoid this place!

Restaurant
Bacalhau na Vila, located in Sintra, is a fantastic restaurant specializing in the iconic Portuguese dish, bacalhau (salted codfish). The diverse menu offers various delicious preparations of bacalhau, including salted cod soup, croquettes, towers, and salad. Additionally, there's a vegan version available for non-fish eaters. The attentive and friendly staff ensures a pleasant dining experience for families with options for young kids.
Small and cozy place with a lot of fish. I tried soup, main dish, appetizer and tartas. Everything was super tasty. Definitely recommend to visit if you like to try the codfish.
Olga K — Google review
Cozy little restaurant with home-like atmosphere and they focus mostly on fish dishes (mainly bacalhau/codfish). We had Bacalhau a Bras and Bacalhau stew, both were really tasty and warming. Prices were reasonable and relatively low in comparison to other places in Sintra. We paired our food with really refreshing white sangria. During lunch time expect to wait in a small line for about 10-15 mins, but definitely give this place a try!
Veronika J — Google review
A little gem in Sintra that I would highly recommend. Staff are very friendly, multilingual and professional. We had to wait for a while to get the table as there are people constantly visiting. We tried the salad, one of the two bacalhau (salted codfish) dish they have on their menu (we asked and they had very patiently explained and recommended) and a sweet potato (wonderfully made) as a side. The bacalhau was good (I have to say that I have no reference point but it was very well done and tasted, by any standard).

Food is good. Service is great. The only food we didn’t like is codfish coriander soup. It can use less garlic.

Our dinner was delicious. It’s really just a friendly, comfortable place to enjoy a meal that is made with care. I had the mixed shrimp, octopus and cod meal . Everything was prepared perfectly. My husband had the cod burger, which also was delicious. Both came with delicious sweet potatoes. Finished with the chocolate cake, warm oozing chocolate. Mmm. The meals aren’t huge but large enough to fill an appetite. Prices are very fair. The staff was friendly and great service.

Nestled just behind Lawrence's hotel in Sintra, Restaurante Tulhas is a charming eatery that beautifully captures the essence of old-school Portugal. Housed in a converted grain warehouse, it boasts an inviting atmosphere with wrought-iron chandeliers and intricate tiling under dark wood-beamed ceilings. The menu features local classics, making it a must-visit for those craving traditional Portuguese dishes.
I am so glad we picked this resurant. TasteAtlas convinced me to come here and it was a great idea ! The owner is really calm, kind you can see he loves this restaurant and his job. The feeling was that we are in his house, in his dining room having dinner. The food was amazing ! I tried the Bacalau dish, specific of the place and it was sooo tasty ! My wife loved the food also, she got the lamb chops, really really good ! Highly recommended there !!

Food and service were decent. We managed to find a table at a time when the restaurant was full, and it was raining outside. The seafood soup was delicious 😋 FYI - It's more expensive to order soda than beer. It seems to be a trend across touristy restaurants. So if you prefer beer, order one instead of soda. Cheers 🥂 Finally, when in Portugal, try to learn some basic Portuguese words. It goes a long way. Waiters will be more receptive 😉

The alheira caça was pretty good but the fries were soggy and bland. The restaurant is ok, I'm sure there are better ones around but this one in particular is honestly 50/50

Solid dinner experience. Portuguese style food - well executed. Was weirdly quiet in Sintra that evening so restaurant could have used some quiet background music. We both enjoyed our dinners. Good value for money.

My husband and I had read some good reviews of the food. We went into a virtually empty restaurant. Waiter asked do you have a reservation? He looked mad when we said "no". He sat us down and did not seem really happy to answer questions. I ordered the Tiger shrimp with salad and french fries. It came with ONE SINGLE SHRIMP filleted on a single leaf of lettuce, 1 slice of tomato and cold fries all for 22 euros! My husband had a cod dish that he did enjoy. We asked about desert and he said "no desert" and ushered all 3 other patrons out the door. He was warching a soccer game the whole time. Bill was 68 Euros total. Save your time and money, find a McDonalds instead😡

This was a nice place to sit down and eat. We got the traditional steak and Portuguese game sausage paired with some red wine. Both dishes hit the spot. The waiter was really friendly and a bit of a hoot.

Ordered their grilled octopus, cod fritters and tomato salad for lunch, all came with no seasoning/taste at all. Tomato salad was simply just tomatoes and cut raw onion and grilled octopus was cold and didn’t seem well prepared. Do not recommend coming here if you want a pleasant dining experience. Got mild food poisoning afterwards as well.

I recommend it! A great place that we found by chance in a small alley next to the Palacio Nacional da Sintra. The setting - a very cozy typical small Portuguese restaurant. The food - the salads and main courses were delicious, but the dessert was definitely the "wow". We ordered a homemade walnut tart. He was great. The service - I give 5 stars because there is no 6. The waiter was exceptional. He spoke Portuguese, Spanish, French and English. He was constantly joking with the guests or himself and making everyone laugh. Like a psychologist, he managed to bring the visitors closer together and it became a very pleasant atmosphere. When he found out it was my birthday, he immediately brought and lit a candle and made everyone sing. Unique!

A Raposa is a charming tearoom that offers a romantic setting with a selection of tea, pastries, and Portuguese wines. Additionally, it serves simple yet delicious home-cooked savory dishes. The restaurant has an eccentric vibe and is known for its stucco ceilings and tasteful murals. It's recommended to spend at least two days in Sintra to fully explore the area, as there are many attractions like the unique House of the She Pine Tree and the stunning Monserrate Palace.
Great restaurant conveniently located in the centre of Sintra. Staff are very attentive and professional. Food is well presented and well cooked with full of flavour. I would recommend both for a relaxed dinner as well as a romantic occasion. To be safe book ahead but when we went in, there were plenty of free tables, albeit it was an early dinner

We absolutely loved our dining experience at A Raposa! We had our combined family dinner the day prior to wedding festivities here (12 of us). They are normally closed on Sunday nights but they were willing to open and accommodate our group. They treated us like family and the food was absolutely delicious!! Curral dos Caprinos, which translates to "the goat pen," is a spacious restaurant that has been serving delicious food since 1974. Located in the outskirts of Cabriz village, it has become a popular stop for those seeking a culinary experience after a busy day in central Sintra. With a capacity of over 200, this restaurant offers traditional lamb and goat dishes cooked to perfection, honoring its heritage from an old sheep and goat farm.
Where do I even start? I don’t think you’ll ever find a better restaurant in central Portugal!! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Personally, I recommend outdoor seating.

This top restaurant was recommended by our hotel host and we went straight down to get a traditional Portuguese lunch almost as we arrived from the airport. Amazing Portuguese food and we thoroughly enjoyed the kebabs and the side accompaniments. Food is on the pricey side but we were staying nearby and everything else was closed. It was neat history to find out this place has been in business for 75 years. They do place the appetizers in front of you without ordering so make sure you don’t touch it unless you want it or tell them to take it away. We had the olives and enjoyed them.
Amelia L — Google review
Bang. An experienced google map user aren’t you? You just found sintra’s sweet spot. Exceptional atmosphere, hospitality and quality. An authentic local restaurant. Traditional food made with love. Dishes are pricey but huge and meant to be shared. The chicken soup was one of the best I ever had. The fillet steak was beautifully prepared, the lamb chops, the beef skewer and the veal escalope too. The elegant and smooth local wine not to be missed. The place is packed with local families so it is better to reserve a place in advance. The waiters (probably family members) are super friendly and helpful. TIP: the number of main courses to order should be one-two less than the number of people in your group. For example if you are a family of 4, order 3 dishes. The portions are really big.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Sintra, A Tasca do Xico is a delightful family-run restaurant that embodies the heart and soul of Portuguese cuisine. With its rustic charm and inviting atmosphere, this eatery serves up an array of traditional dishes infused with local flavors. Guests can relish specialties like bacalhau à brás—an exquisite mix of codfish, eggs, and potatoes—or enjoy seasonal treats such as grilled sardines that reflect the coastal heritage of the region.
Great multilevel restaurant in historic Sintra. For lunch I ordered the vegetable soup and the baked codfish. With sweet potatoes and a salad. The meal was excellent. The atmosphere is good too because it's away from the busy touristy areas. Service was very good as well. Recommended.

Good food for a touristy price. We had a cod on bread, tomato salad and a beef steak in a traditional Portuguese bun. It was ok, not ground breaking nor amazing, just ok food. Sangria was great. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We stopped by after wandering Sintra and were warmly welcomed by the staff. She quickly recommended and provided a Sagres for my husband and a sangria for me. Delicious small plates, excellent food! Very good sangria. Perfect spot to stop and get a quick bite to eat. Also they have plenty of inside seating with multiple levels of seating.

In the menu they claim to serve tapas but that is not even close to tapas food. That is big portion food advertised as beeing tapas. More than that, we did not even like the chorizo, it was not cooked well, was very very fat and did not smell good at all. The french fries were dry and overcooked. Drinks were not great not terrible, we had sangria that was just ok. The only good thing about this place is the staff which was quick to find us a table and also attentive and welcoming.

Me and a friend of mine went here yesterday. We found the place really nice and the staff very kind. We asked for some suggestion on choosing the plates and they were very available on giving advices. We ate "Patanisca de Bacalhau" that look like pancackes and taste really well. We ordered also "Tiras de choco frito com maionese d'alho" that was delicious. The "Saladinha de Polvo Vinagrete" tasted really well, too. Finally, the "batata assada com maionese de Alho" was fenomenal.

Restaurante is located just in front of Palacio Nacional de Sintra. Looks good from outside. Usually is very busy. Food is good, tasty and well served in my opinion. I asked for Açorda, my wife&son for bitoque (thin steak with egg) and my daughter Alheira. We didn’t wait long for food although it was a busy day. For everything + 2 bottles of water we payed 61E (no dessert, wine or coffe). Now the bad things. - plastic plates. - tables were sticky - too much vinegar on the salad. I prefere when olive oil and vinegar come alone to the table. - just one small toilet with permanent queue In general good place with very good ratio quality/price.

Sintra is one of the places of my heart and this pastry shop is the one I hold most dear. Take away downstairs and eat-in upstairs.

Popular location for good Portuguese dessert. The atmosphere is nice. Lots of customers both inside and outside. But the queue wasn't that long. if you don't know, casa de preto translates to "black house", as our tour guide told us "but like not racist". Of course this doesn't seem to be the case, and the imagery you can see both outside and inside the establishment made black members of our party feel pretty uncomfortable. A traditional Portuguese restaurant with very friendly staff and a nice rustic interior. I would love to give a 5 star but as a vegetarian/vegan… I can’t. If you are an omnivore, I would highly recommend this establishment - my friend really enjoyed her meal. I understand that this is a local hub and I love that it’s not catered to tourists, so I don’t want to come off as trying to bring my Canadian-Vegetarian opinion to traditional Portuguese dining. However, I do want to share my experience with others who may be vegan/vegetarian. There are a few vegetarian items on the menu but all of them have egg. As à vegetarian who does not eat egg, I would not have gone here if I had known this. On the menu there is a soy sausage and a veggie burger. The veggie burger was sold out (unclear whether they stopped serving it or just didn’t have it in stock at the time) and the soy sausage had no further description available. When I asked about the soy sausage, the waitress said she didn’t know what was served with it and didn’t offer to find out. I felt bad asking so just went with it. It turns out it is served with a fried egg, which is the only form of liquid/sauce to go with it. The sausage itself was good and I could easily take off the egg but it would have been nice to know. It would also be great if there was just one vegan option on the menu. Again, I understand that this is a traditional Portuguese restaurant but it’s awesome if everyone has something to eat so that the meat eaters of the group can still enjoy the delicious seafood/meat that this restaurant serves! Other than this, there were just a couple things that surprised me. First, we were served olive, bread, cheese, sardines, and tuna to start. We never ordered it so assumed that it was included. There was nothing listed that said this would be an added charge. The bread and cheese was delicious but we didn’t eat the olives or tuna/sardines so it felt kind of unfair that we had to pay for it. Also, water was not listed on the menu as having a price so we also assumed that ordering water would be free (although we are aware that at many places in Europe it is not). These are just a couple things that would make the experience better. All in all, I really love the atmosphere and staff at the restaurant and appreciate that it is traditional and caters to locals. I would definitely come back if vegan options were offered.

We heard of Sopa d’Avó on a blog and glad we made it our lunch destination on our trip to Sintra. For 8.90€ each we got olives and bread, the soup of the day, one of three meal of the day options, and a beverage (which was basically 1/2 litre of wine each). I can appreciate why this restaurant may not be for some but we appreciated the authentic Portuguese dishes and experience. Our goal was to avoid the overpriced tourist restaurants that cater to North American pallets; Sopa d’Avó was exactly what we were looking for. It ranks as one of our favourite meals/experiences of our trip.

The food was genuinely so amazing! The staff was so lovely and welcoming. If you are looking for a local portugese experience, then I would highly recommend giving this place a try

I’ve had the mixed grilled and the chocolate almond cake and it was delicious !! Highly recommend it, the taste is delicious and the ladies are very nice
Elise R — Google review
We were off to a great with pillowy bread, garlic olives, aged goat cheese, and sardine paté. Then came the breaded and fried cod in garlic and onions, which was served with excellent home-made chips and undressed salad...in a pool of oil. The cod itself was quite salty, as was the dish of scrambled egg in leeks and julienned potatoes. Their white wine was light and crisp. Portions were huge for its price; service from a young waitress was really cute (she was excited to tell us that Portugal was playing the World Cup last night).
Kitty L — Google review
For a place named after soup they only had one soup... They served the sheep cheese appetizer with paté, sardines and butter—I’m North American so this was weird for me especially since I don’t eat fish or pâté and putting butter on cheese also seemed odd so this wasn’t really appetizing but maybe this is a European thing that I’m just not accustomed to. I got the small steak with an egg, salad and rice. The rice was bland and the steak was really undercooked for my liking. Not sure why but my whole plate was drenched with water (maybe from the rice?) but it made everything soggy including the steak. I got the rice pudding (not sure what the Portuguese name is) and it was very delicious. Overall, as a North American this spot wasn’t my cup of tea but maybe I’m just not used to authentic Portuguese food. My 2 friends seemed to enjoy their food but also agreed that the the rice was pretty bland.

If you're looking for a unique Portuguese restaurant that will give you something different, then Kebabish is definitely the place to go. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The only downside is that it can be quite busy; so book in advance if you want to avoid any queues.
Absolutely loved this place! We had lunch before going up to the palace and went back to have dinner with family, 4 adults and 3 kids and everyone loved what they ordered (they even have pizza for the kids). Every dish was bursting with flavor and authentic. The service was quick and attentive and the prices were more than fair for the quality. A true gem for anyone craving delicious Indian food without breaking the bank. Highly recommend!

It was a perfect dinner. We enjoyed it a lot. The food never get cold because of the heater at the bottom. This makes food even tastier. We ate butter chicken, butter bread, chicken tandoori, and rice. I recommend them all. Will come next time for sure.. Enjoy your food!!! Ps. The pictures are not illustrating the portions since we couldn’t resist the smell 🤤🤤

Absolutely amazing food, quick and attentive service by Surjit. I visited Sintra and came across this gem of a place. Had chicken subzi, roti and rice with daal soup. Would highly recommend this genuine / Punjabi / authentic Indian restaurant. Im from England and Wish this place was local to me lol ;)

Amazing price for quality & quantity of food! I only paid 11.50€ for all you see in the picture + coffee 🙏 I absolutely recommend this restaurant, the staff were very friendly, the food arrived quickly and tasted heavenly. I'll definitely be back and bring my family along 😄

It is really authentic place with super tasty Indian food! I loved every bite of it! And the portions are really big for almost no price.

This place is great! We walked into here after a day exploring the Sintra Palaces. Definitely recommend! We ordered the Butter Chicken, Dhansak Chicken and a bottle of Planalto Wine. Rice and Garlic Naan bread are a must for sides. Thank you!

Pizza restaurant
Roulote da Gigi is a pizza restaurant that serves up delicious Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. The interior of the restaurant is nicely designed, with a food truck feel but in a smaller setting. There is also a nearby food market on Sundays, so it's great for picking up some fresh ingredients to enjoy at the restaurant. The staff are incredibly friendly and will go out of their way to make your experience great. They can even create vegan pizzas for those who don't like cheese!
Super cute Place with very friendly people. The pizzas are their specialty - choose one of the many options. 32€ for two people (pizza, lasagne, garlic bread and 2 glasses of wine) was a very fair deal. Definitely recommended.
S. H — Google review
Incredible service, welcoming staff and great atmosphere. It has a "beach-shack" feel to it so you won't mind turning up in your shorts and sandals after a day at the beach. Maybe the seating and tables could be improved so it's not as 'cosy' next to the other diners with more room at your table for the food etc. Okay pizzas - too thin and crispy for my liking with plenty of toppings and cheese. The dough didn't have much flavour or texture but the toppings were delicious. Cheesy garlic bread served on a slice of toast could maybe have been a bit more garlicky and buttery with softer crusts. Local craft beer on offer there and it was full of people. I'll be back!
J P — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Roulote da Gigi, a delightful pizza place in the charming town of Colares, Portugal. This cozy spot is perfect for pizza enthusiasts and food lovers alike. The welcoming atmosphere and tantalizing menu made my dining experience truly memorable. The pizzas were mouthwatering, crafted with fresh ingredients and baked to perfection in a traditional wood-fired oven. The extensive menu caters to a wide range of tastes, featuring classic favorites alongside innovative gourmet options. Each pizza showcases a perfect balance of flavors and textures, ensuring that every bite is a treat for the taste buds. The friendly and attentive staff were the cherry on top, contributing to the warm and inviting ambience. They made sure my visit was enjoyable and hassle-free. Roulote da Gigi is the perfect destination for a casual meal with friends or a family night out. If you find yourself in Colares, I highly recommend stopping by Roulote da Gigi for a delicious pizza experience. It's a hidden gem that promises a unique and satisfying culinary adventure that will leave you craving more. I can't wait for my next visit!

We like this place so much. We go there every time we are around. Best pizza, sangria and garden ❤️ lovely place with super friendly people!
Anna — Google review
Food is amazing but waiting for a pizza for 40 minutes is way to long, considering that the pizza is thin crust and probably takes less than 5 minutes in the oven and that it wasn't busy when we ordered it was really disappointing. It's a shame cause food is amazing and flavour is on point. Very nice staff, friendly and good atmosphere
Monika S — Google review
Great service and really tasty food. We had the Alfredo pizza and they gave us the spicy oil too. Delicious. Good value too
Alison T — Google review
Cute place with excellent service! Even the pizzas are quite good. The toppings are top notch but the base, the crust - it’s a little too dense. Like cardboard. And this could easily be fixed with letting the dough rise properly! But when you need that pizza fix, this place will do nicely!
Pipsa S — Google review
Our favorite pizza in Portugal! Gigi has expanded from a food truck with excellent pizza in a vacant field at a crossroads to a complete restaurant with ample indoor and patio seating. We were the first customers today so the place is waiting customers which made taking photos easier. Brazilian music today. Come and enjoy the pizza!

Fast food restaurant
Somos Um Regalo is a barbecue restaurant with two locations in Sao Pedro de Sintra and Cascais, known for serving the best grilled chicken in the world. The aroma of their famous Guia chicken, along with other charcoal-grilled meats, draws visitors seeking excellent quality dishes. It's a local gem just outside Sintra, offering a refreshing alternative to seafood-focused restaurants commonly found in Portugal. The service is prompt and the chicken is described as flavorful and juicy.
Super! My American friends and I (I’m Canadian) had supper here and LOVED IT! We were the only English speakers in the place but that was ok, one of the waitresses spoke enough English to serve us non-Portuguese speakers… we really appreciated her help 😊 I highly recommend this restaurant for an amazing authentic meal! Thank you Sonos Um Regalo!
Kathleen V — Google review
Somos Um Regalo is a casual spot with really good chicken — flavorful and well-grilled. We were with four people and ate two chickens, which was just right. The tomato and onion salad was a highlight — super fresh and full of flavor. I didn’t really like the fries, I preferred the rice. We had to wait a bit to get seated, but it looked like we arrived during a busy time. After a while, more tables opened up. The staff were friendly and attentive, and despite the wait, the overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable.
Kylie H — Google review
Really delicious, chicken, fries, tomato salad, wine and family diners. Relaxed and friendly Portuguese locally owned, perfect!
Anna B — Google review
Service was so-so, some staff were pretty welcoming and others looked like they didn’t want to be there. The food didn’t fully meet expectations. It was tasty, yes, but the chicken was a little dry.

Pizza Hut Sintra (Vila) is a family-friendly chain known for its made-to-order pizzas. It also serves pasta. The place has very good covid safety precautions and the service is quick.
It was very delicious and the service also very kind 😊🙏🏼 it is at the central station in Sintra so also very easy location. I can recommend to take the all you can eat pizza for only 15€, we are absolutely full and happy!
Timea B — Google review
This was only my second pizza hut ever. It was a great sized pizza and tasted so good. The reason I can't give it 5 stars is because it's so expensive!! Especially the make your own pizza part. You only get the normal pizza and every topping you want adds on 2 euro. So if you get the medium size and want 3 toppings you'll end up spending 20 euro basically without sides.
Aaron D — Google review
Nice place to grab something quick.., good food and nice service
Ashwini G — Google review
We got there at 19:30. got a side in 35 min and the wrong pizza 20 min later. The server wanted proof before we got a new pizza. I told the server I didn’t want mushrooms because im allergic to it, I told him multiple times, we still got it with the mushrooms. Wait time was like an hour total. Horrible service here and we got no refund or anything. Also the pizza was just put horrible in the box as you can see in the picture. Won’t go there again and definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

It had been ages since we went to a Pizza Hut restaurant and I'm glad we went today. The pizzas were delicious and the staff super friendly! Very practical too with the restaurant's proximity with the train and bus stations
Alessandra — Google review
Mr “Zon Kost” was serving us (I asked the name as he was exceptionally nice staff personal) Practically, he was the only reason I am writing this review, as he actually made us to fill the “only customers”, while having other tables! Overall a standar Pizza Hut experience, nothing more or less, except the service was very very quick and tasty!
Patou82a — Google review
Awful experience. Me and my girlfriend went in Pizza Hut for a lunch. We waited for 20 minutes after ordering only to receive a wrong pizza which we did not order. 15 minutes later we received the correct pizza, it looked good, but it was one of the worst we've ever had. Especially the dough resembled a cheap frozen pizza dough. The restroom was out of toilet paper, hand paper and soap in all dispensers. How could someone eat food in such enviroenment? Disgusting hygiene. In the end we asked to pay by card and the staff brought only a receipt without a card terminal. The restaurant itself looks quite rundown. No music, no atmosphere. Probably won't visit pizza Hut ever again because of this dreadful experience.

McDonald's Mem Martins is a well-known fast-food spot with a long-standing reputation for its burgers and fries. The restaurant stays open late, making it convenient for late-night cravings. It is equipped with automatic machines and despite being crowded at times, the service is quick. However, the seating area is quite small, which can be challenging during peak hours. The drive-through service is efficient and the interior is spacious enough for medium-sized groups.

Stays open until quite late. Clean place, has a good amount of automatic machines. It's usually crowded if you go at certain hours but the order doesn't take long to come. Only bad part is that the area to eat is very very small, so, if it's crowded, you will have a tough time to sit down.
