Sports bar
The Southfield, situated at the heart of Teesside University campus, is a popular bar known for its unique selection of craft beers and ciders. Its expansive beer garden is a favorite spot for patrons to enjoy the sunshine. The bar offers an extensive menu ranging from breakfast to lunch, including bottomless brunch options. With regular deals throughout the week such as Pancake Tuesday and Wings Wednesday, it's a hit among students seeking relaxation after their studies.
Good beer selection with some craft offerings. Friendly and helpful staff, especially the landlord who is a great guy. We didn't eat but others looked nice.

The Southfield bottomless brunch never disappoints, unlimited cocktails and food for 2 hours what more could you ask for. A special shoutout to the servers Hannah & Ben ( even though it was only your second shift Ben you knocked it out the park). Hopefully back next month. A⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had the bottomless brunch here with friends yesterday, what a great way to spend a couple of hours. Service was fantastic, Ellie looked after us amazingly. There was also a young man too who was lovely ( didn't get his name). Food was tasty and drinks were of good quality, fab cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, thank you, we will definately return.
Sharon L — Google review
Catering for university students mainly, it has a fresh atmosphere with great outside seating, both under cover and out in the open. It's a bit noisy from the building work next door which is quite loud. Great summer time location and dog friendly. Plus, they serve a kilo of wings. What more do you want.
Kev B — Google review
Great way to spend an hour. The pub was quiet because the Uni is shut for the Summer hols. That only made the service even quicker. Very, very efficient. And extra friendly. Great staff, Hannah and her boss, couldn't fault them. Loved the 2 for 1 on my cocktail and the shared platters of food were delicious. We'll be returning soon.
Dawn M — Google review
One of the better pubs in Boro, there are plenty of screens to watch all verities of sport the drinks are cheap and this bar does lots of student offers and discounts. Food is good, made quickly and of good quality. This pub has 2 pool tables, arcade machines and plenty of seating in all forms from quaint and chilled areas to outside seating with TV's outside so you don't miss important sporting events. Staff are friendly and professional, this place has always been consistent in delivering a good quality atmosphere and the décor is interesting and vivid celebrating the town, Easy 5 star.

Service was phenomenal , catered to my intolerance and was consisted with drinks. Provided excellent customer service and was very welcoming. A special thankyou to Hannah who made sure we were well fed and drank. Will be back

Amazing pub/sports bar inside the Teesside University campus. Friendly bartenders and staff. The outdoor seating is perfect for a sunny day. Great range of drinks and food. High quality customer service. Recommend going on Thursdays for great deals on beers and cocktails. Definitely recommend and will go again.

My favourite brunch spot in Middlesbrough! I come nearly every other week. The iced coffees are phenomenal, the food is to die for, and it’s the perfect place for a catch-up. Super accessible and the staff are always so lovely. Highly recommend! ☕️🍰✨

I loved my matcha latte. The staff was incredibly friendly. We ordered the veggie breakfast and eggs florentine, which were prepared quickly and tasted great. I would appreciate a savory veggie option in the waffle and pancakes section.

Can’t recommend this place enough, the staff are always so lovely and welcome, the cafe is stunning and so cosy and the food and drink options are so varied and tasty. I go quite often before university, and the staff are so lovely to chat to; and you can tell they really love what they do!! the food is such high quality and portion sizes are great! the selection of drinks is really impressive, and everything is made fresh. service is extremely quick and the place is always very clean! Would definitely recommend for anyone to pop in even just for a hot drink as they are all so tasty, and the prices of everything is really affordable!!

I've had a fantastic time at Baker Street Kitchen, food and drinks were brilliant! Lovely staff, with a 10/10 playlist creating a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely great spot for lunch and I'm sure I'll be back!
Viktoria K — Google review
The best place for breakfast or coffee in Mbro! The staff is simply lovely and make you feel welcome. I’m lactose intolerant so I struggle to find places to eat here, however the staff in BSK is great at checking for allergens. I had the small breakfast with no issues. They also have the biggest vegan menu I’ve seen in the area. The yogurt & berries pancakes are delicious. Depending on when you go it can be quite loud, specially during lunchtime. It’s still worth it though 😊
Juustu S — Google review
Food was amazing, beautiful atmosphere, aesthetically pleasing and clean environment, would recommend to friends and family. Only problem is that they should have more food options so I can enjoy more yummy food from them. Also toilets were 10/10. run dont walk.

The BSK team are so wonderful and welcoming. Bonus points to them all for being dog-friendly (even with our St Bernard)! I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Booked here for festive afternoon tea what an absolute delight! The presentation excellent and superb value for money £25 for 2. The service was lovely. I would highly recommend it
Lorraine J — Google review
Went here instead of McDonald's, while out shopping on Saturday. So glad we did. The place was empty, but I really don't know why. The service was excellent, the prices very reasonable and the food was excellent. We ordered quiche, chips and salad x2 and a jacket potato with beans. With this we got a hot drink and all for just £5 each! For desert, we had 2 pieces of biscoff cheesecake, which is all homemade and tasted amazing and was only £2.50 a portion. The whole meal only came to £20.00, which is much less than most places and all properly cooked and homemade. Will be returning!
Adam S — Google review
Had a lovely latte coffee with a fruit scone with jam and homemade cream. A lovely treat with superb service and staff, nothing was too much trouble. They even made me some homemade cream for my scone. Which was absolutely fantastic and it was huge . Loved it . A lovely place which I will be coming back too.

Customers highly recommend this pub for its excellent cuisine, tasty cocktails, and impressive assortment of gin. It is known for its affordability and lively atmosphere without any trouble. The establishment also features an outdoor beer garden area where patrons can enjoy their drinks.
Been here several times, but I had a steak yesterday and I HAVE to leave a review. The food has always been good, fast and friendly service every time! I’m always wary having steak at restaurants, because they never get the cook right, but omg, I genuinely commend whoever cooked the steak yesterday. It was PERFECT. Medium rare as I’d ordered, absolute perfection! We also had a baby with us and were given a high chair by staff (thank you). Staff are always lovely, it’s always clean and quick service. Food and drinks have always been good! And staff always do their best to meet your needs, allowing me to order dessert to take home with me instead! It’s a busy spoons, but great atmosphere, and one of the only spoons that you don’t have to walk miles up and down stairs to toilets. The toilets are very easily accessible! Pics from multiple trips with friends.

I have been going to this pub for a while, and it’s great because it attracts a diverse crowds 👍. and the staff are spot-on. I've had the food here before, and the breakfasts have always been decent. However, today I arrived a bit late and decided to order JD Wethersooon’s “Pub Classics” fish and chips instead. After all, a picture tells a thousand words….!

“I hadn’t been back to this bar in over 12 years, and returning brought back so many great memories. It’s always been a warm, welcoming place — perfect for relaxing with friends, family, or classmates after lectures or seminars. Still a friendly spot with a great atmosphere! 😌

This was a fantastic pub for a visit, providing great aesthetic pleasure with its stripped back design! This includes the brick walls and pillars, counter is smartly presented in itself. Staff were friendly and I enjoyed a pint of Czech beer, sitting at the comfortable seating!

Very nice local place. The staff is so friendly and helpful. A lot of students..I like the British atmosphere there where people seems happy. I usually go for brunch as well. They offer own made sausages and very delicious vegetarian version.
Gregory A — Google review
Love popping in when I pass would be rude not too. Place is comfortable enough to call in by yourself or as a group (iv done both) prices are very reasonable as are all spoons. For me the only thing that let's a spoon place down is a bit of music in the background. But it's not enough to stop me going
Karen C — Google review
Always come here for vegetarian bfast, the vegan sausages is yummy.. very recommended 👌

The Dickens Inn is a vibrant and contemporary bar that perfectly blends the excitement of sports with a cozy pub atmosphere. Known for its extensive menu, it offers an unforgettable bottomless brunch experience where you can indulge in a main meal alongside two hours of unlimited cocktails, mocktails, Prosecco, Fosters, and Strongbow—all for just £29.95! The venue also hosts lively theme nights and features DJs to keep the energy high.
Julie and her team went over and above to make sure that our wedding celebration was just what the bride wanted. The venue was perfect for a summer wedding reception with outside space for music and dancing. The bride and groom had a wonderful time. Thank you all.

Jenny served us for brunch, and she was an absolute star! She was always joking and smiling and made the brunch 10x better! The food was great, the drinks were greater. Great time.
Liz A — Google review
We did bottomless brunch, a girl called Abbie served us she was so friendly and on top of drinks. Lots of choice for drinks something for everyone, food was also tasty and plenty of option.
Sophie X — Google review
Was extremely unsatisfied, there was 4 other people aside my group of 6 friends in the entire building ordering food. With an hour lunch break it was my understanding we’d have time to order and eat our food. We waited 40 minutes for food, leaving us with 10 minutes to eat and go back to our lecture- if we had been informed that the wait would be anything over a 20-25 minute wait, we wouldn’t have even considered eating here. This inconvenience should’ve warranted an apology, something we didn’t receive even after expressing we had a limited amount of time available.
Louise W — Google review
I hosted an engagement party in the Gold Room at the Dickens on Friday evening. I loved it, my partner did and all my guests commented what an fab venue it was. The venue looked amazing, the staff were fab. We had a great evening. Becky was great, she went above and beyond to make sure I had a lovely evening. There were a few extra children arrive who I wasn’t expecting but she got them some games to play with. She also took the cake away to be cut as my mam was struggling a bit 😂 I really did have a great evening and I’m so very grateful. In the lead up to the party I was in contact with Julie via email, she was able to answer every query I had and replied to me super quickly. I couldn’t recommend the Dickens enough, it’s a great venue.
Sarah B — Google review
we not only waited over 30 mins for our food but it wasn’t nice at all i’m not usually the one for complaints but we got parmos and it was partially cold and the bachemel suave was so powdery, we went at 12pm it was pretty dead as well and didn’t expect a ridiculously long wait, especially being uni students we then only had 15 mins to eat before we had to leave. not happy x
Jess A — Google review
Myself and my husband recently had our wedding reception at the dickens and we could not be happier with the service we received. We booked the gold room as it held the amount of people we wanted to attend and it had a great atmosphere. The staff were on hand to help throughout and couldn’t do enough for us. They catered for the 120 guests and everyone complimented the food, lots of choice and plenty to choose from. I’m thrilled we decided to book the gold room because it was everything we wanted, our friends loved the outdoor terrace and stayed there most of the evening. The team decorated the room exactly how we wanted and provided the sashes which saved us a job! I really couldn’t recommend enough - thank you to all the staff that helped us and went above and beyond. You made out night! ❤️
Katie W — Google review
First time being there and my last. I went for an event in the gold room upstairs and the floor was sticky everywhere, the drinks are very expensive the most I’ve paid in a long time! A pint of neck oil was £7.95 that’s the most I’ve ever paid for a beer. I think this place is more built for the students than anything else.

If you're looking for a cozy spot to unwind after work, The Tipsy Cow is definitely worth a visit. This charming venue boasts an inviting atmosphere that fills up nicely even on midweek evenings, hinting at its popularity among locals. While the lighting could use some softening, the focus here is on quality craft beers and freshly prepared dishes that stand out from typical chain offerings. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring you have a pleasant experience as you enjoy your time there.
Got the halloumi veggie burger, OMG, sent compliments to the chef it was a challenge to eat and every bite was a pleasure. Husband got a meat burger that he enjoyed. We will be back.

First time in today and was in no way disappointed. Alpacalypse on draft was a great pint. Getting good beer and good food in the same venue is rate these days, but the food here knocked it out of the park. Excellent menu, loads of great choices. When the food arrived (we got a Cajun Chicken Burger and a Chicken Kebab and Onion rings) it was all absolutely delicious ... are every last bit. Prices were very reasonable for the quality, I would even go as far as cheaper than equivalent competition and well, well worth it. Staff were friendly and helpful. The place is dog friendly too which is a massive plus. Can't fault the place at all. 5 ⭐ but would also be 10/10 for me and that is very rare. Won't be long until we are back and trying something else of the great menu. Thanks for the service.
Sean H — Google review
Really nice atmosphere, freshly prepared and cooked food not like some chains with prepared reheated portions. Very pleasant staff provided excellent service. Prices are good, not cheap like Wetherspoons but in a totally different league. If you want cheap beer, cheap food and scruffy drunks staggering around then go to Wetherspoons, if you want a nice comfortable place, fairly priced where you can relax with partner or family or group of friends this place comes highly recommended. Pictures of full parmo approx. 14" plate, and full chilli beef with half rice half chips approx 12" plate. Good portions.... Really tasty and chips first class 👍 multiple TV screens showing sports and news, visible wherever you sit.

Gorgeous breakfast and other food during the day. Excellent team working the bar and kitchen. Always friendly and amenable. Night time totally different offer but just as good!

Took my family for my twins 7th birthday. Lovely atmosphere with a friendly welcoming feel. The food itself being a Sunday was delicious probably the best cauliflower cheese I have ever had, the menu still offers alternatives which some places don’t on a Sunday. Good price for three adults and two kids £64 without drinks so value for money. Would highly recommend.

The tipsy cow is class gorgeous food, lovely staff, good atmosphere and it's a all arounder basically. The only problem is though if you want to have a seat or if you're coming with loads of people book the seats because it can be choc a block sometimes and I'm not sure how much we spend here all together as I have a huge family but what I can tell you is for the price isn't bad and it's warm and you get plenty of chips etc so if you're looking to go to the tipsy cow for some food and drink i suggest to come 😊
Brandon O — Google review
Lovely food! I ordered something I’m allergic too, and after Shaun came and offered me something else (without me asking) I said no it’s okay but before I left he gave me something different, took it home put it in the oven and it was amazing!
Alix B — Google review
Dropped in for a quick pint after work, not too bad to be honest, we left around 6pm and it was starting to get full which is always a good sign on a midweek day…. The only thing I would say is that the lighting when we were in was a little too bright and harsh, the ceiling downlighting could do with dimming a little, they sell craft beers and currently have a few offers on as well, we will return for another visit and maybe some food next time which looked nice when they were delivered it to other tables.

Amazing vegan café in the heart of Middlesbrough, providing the freshest and healthiest ingredients that planet Earth has to offer. Their menu is nothing short of exceptional and everything is prepared on the day. The food is so colourful, beautifully presented, filling, nutritious and full of protein. Lovely, bright, colourful cafe. You can’t help but smile when you walk in. I’d ordered ahead for takeaway, but I’d have liked to sit in. The food is very fresh, vibrant and nourishing. I had the nachos, I couldn’t believe the portion size, I couldn’t finish it! For me personally, it was a little too much going on in one dish. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely be heading to Alkaline Kitchen.

Popped in as I was waiting for someone and looking for anywhere that did coffee to enjoy one of the nicest coffees I’ve had in the area! Blows all the others out the water. So friendly and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be coming whenever I’m nearby and trying out some of the jacket potato options!
Ember — Google review
A gorgeous atmosphere surpassed only by the food which is delicious and varied and presented beautifully.
B W — Google review
Great food, friendly staff. Really well presented dishes, good soul food without any meat alternatives which is great to see where a lot of vegan and non vegan restaurants lean into the ease of alternative products. Everything appears and tastes home made. I had the burger and nachos. Would have loved space for a dessert but the portions are very generous. I was surprised that the side salad the burger came with was as satisfying as it was - I'm a 100kg gym going 6'1 fella so saying a salad was tasty and satisfying goes miles toward explaining how good this place is! I also had the milkshake which was lovely Would definitely return if I find myself in Middlesbrough again.

With limited opening days, this charming spot serves up an incredible Full English Breakfast at an unbeatable price. Diners rave about the quality of ingredients, from perfectly cooked black pudding to chunky mushrooms accompanying their omelettes—definitely a step above the usual fare found elsewhere.
Delicious food, friendly staff, great coffee. Really enjoyed, will definitely be back

Popped in today with the wife for a full English, absolutely the best in town, bar none. Cannot recommend it enough. Very friendly staff, immaculately clean and first grade ingredients, it's Middlesbroughs hidden gem.

Came up to Middlesborough for Teeside University Open Day (3 1/2 hour drive away) so needed some proper nosh for an early lunch. Our order refuelled us very well and kept us going for the rest of the day. Very good Full English, especially the toast and black pudding which are often disappointing elsewhere. Had chunky mushrooms with the cheese omelette (much better than the bought-in thin slices you get elsewhere). The coleslaw is so excellent it deserves 12 out of 10.

Bentleys Coffee Shop, located in the Parkway Shopping Centre, is a delightful spot that truly stands out for its exceptional service and warm atmosphere. The staff here are not just friendly; they go above and beyond to ensure every customer feels welcomed and valued. Whether it's crafting a perfect teacake or customizing meals for special needs residents, their dedication shines through. Patrons rave about the delicious food offerings, including lovely paninis and hearty bacon buns, making it a favorite stop for many.
Great service, decent coffee and a proper bacon bun. All good.

Great coffee and food, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. They also do a lot for the community and you can feel that as soon as you enter. It's now become our regular coffee stop. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Amazing little cafe/coffee shop! Staff were top quality, service was impeccable

Visited for coffee and a scone. We queried with the staff if we had received a plain scone rather than fruit as it only contained 1 raisin. The staff member did say it was a fruit scone and offered to change it for another scone which had a few more raisins in. Fortunately we spotted the insect on the bottom of our second scone before eating it! Reported it to staff member no offer of even a refund. Needless to say we won't be visiting again! Thanks for response. Visit was at the parkway centre on the morning of 24th July. I've got a photo but chose not to upload it. If you can provide an email I'd be happy to send to you too. Thank you.

Lady who took order was very nice friendly Food not so good. You can’t call it a toastie when you serve 2 slices of barely toasted floppy bread with ham and cheese thrown in then throw n grill for few minutes. Cheese n lumps melted bread floppy n barely warm. Not worth £4.25 not even half that. Advertising sweet treats noting like the delicious looking cakes in these pictures the choice. Scone, cake that looked as if had been there ages and a Carmel cake hardly sweet treats. It was cold inside I appreciate its half covered in glass but there used to be heaters now nothing so very cold Sorry won’t return as all 4 of us disappointed ☹️ 2 stars because the lady was very friendly and helpful

Really friendly staff particually with our special needs residents. Belle in particular as she was able to sign and make alterations to the meal to meet the needs of our residents .food was lovely we will be returning soon.

In here presently, staff are fantastic, they made mums teacake exactly as she asked, panini was lovely but the main thing is how they are with their customers, so friendly, welcoming, nothings a bother, you can see they actually make people's day, especially the elderly customers. They should be so proud of themselves !!

Today I went in for a little lunch with friend. A little two year old boy was running round the cafe. Like it was a play area. The sharp corners of the tables and chairs were a danger. No staff said anything. This was so uncomfortable to be in.

Wendy's has recently made its mark in Middlesbrough, nestled in the vibrant Captain Cook Square. This fast-food haven is celebrated for its signature offerings like the Baconator, Dave’s Single, and Spicy Chicken Sandwich, alongside delightful sides such as chili and baked potatoes. Don’t miss out on their Frosty dessert—especially during graduation week when you can snag one for free with a combo meal purchase!
The local deals are good value. Everything tasted great. Polite staff.

Wendy's Middlesbrough captain cook square, Absolutely shocking experience from what we believed to be an amazing American fast food experience. We were very disappointed in the the state of the restaurant it self. Tables not cleared the condiment station absolutely decimated and filthy. Tables were not cleaned and no sign of any front of house staff. We ordered through the app while in store and not the ordering stations so when we were put on the right side of the screen after 30min wait after all the left side orders cleared we were finally asked by counter staff why we had not informed them we were there even though we were the only family left waiting. Very poor attitude, lack of staff no cleanliness. Food was ok if not quite sloppy my burger the baconator one patty wasn't cooked it was still pink but I was that disappointed I just left the patty that was under. For nearly £70 for a family of 5 I expect something better than what we experienced. It's a shame as high hopes for this American restaurant was a let down.
Simon L — Google review
The vegan options are severely disappointing when you compare Wendy's to Burger King and Macdonald's. It's quite a shock when one has grown used to vegan options at fast food joints. The "fries" turned out to be skin-on-fries. They were definitely on the salty side and are naff compared to BK chips.

I never complain about anything cos I’m a complete fanny but the kids insisted on going in Wendy’s Middlesbrough today for Jess’s Birthday Tea. The place was fairly empty but an absolute tip. All tables needed wiping down, floors were covered in food, bins were over flowing and there were no napkins in the dispenser. Despite this the kids had their hearts set on 20nuggets and chips so we ploughed on and ordered. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we were joined by a hungry pigeon who fancied a few chips 🤣🍟 I’m no snob but for £55 for take away meal for 4 I expect better. Don’t get me wrong the triple burger I had was mega but just a few more staff or better management is def called for.
Carly S — Google review
Food was served on a tray without any disposable paper on top. Half the chips and nuggets were touching the tray had to throw them away. Serviettes are not provided have to go and ask the service agent who is clearly busy fulfilling orders! Place is seriously understaffed!
Harsha R — Google review
Food was bang on! I'm a huge fan of the chain and am properly buzzed to have one in the North East. Big problem is it won't last for long if staff aren't on the ball with hygiene!!! Place is filthy already, toilets will be disgusting in a matter of weeks if they don't keep on top of it. The touch screens were absolutely filthy. Please do better if you want this place to thrive. Seemed to me that all the staff feel the young kid doing the tidying up is responsible for it all !!! Wrong!!! Do better and this place will be buzzing, stay as it seemed today and you'll be shut by Christmas.
Adam E — Google review
"I recently visited Wendy's and had a fantastic experience. The burgers were juicy and flavorful, topped with fresh ingredients that really stood out. Their chicken sandwiches were also delicious, especially paired with their signature sauces. The fries were crispy and seasoned just right, and the frosty desserts were the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. Overall, I highly recommend Wendy's for a satisfying fast food experience."
Rahulraj D — Google review
After coming in ordering food receiving sitting down then going to taste the food I went to see what was in my “baconator fries” and shockingly I saw how much was on the bottom filled of grease, I was discussed and disappointed with how the food was made and served after the first time I came into Wendy’s. Bad first experience I wouldn’t recommend the baconator fries because they might look like this and the cost is £1.80p. However the burgers are quite nice however the Fanta did stain the cut I was drinking for so I don’t know why that happened.

Victorian nostalgia café in Dorman Museum in Albert Park. Proper home made round tin cakes and not a mashed avocado in sight. Highly recommended.

Absolute gem of a tea room. We loved the antique decor and nostalgic atmosphere with music from the 1920s to 1940s. The scones were perfect and the tea served in china cups from a proper teapot with a proper spout - no dribbles. It even had a tea cosy. Added to all this was the very reasonable price. Superb all round, thank you!

Lovely venue if small - free parking nearby. Simple menu for a light lunch - popular with walkers from the park and visitors to the museum.

I enjoyed a well-prepared lunch of quiche & chips; the ambience is purposely old-fashioned and all the better for it. Service was swift and helpful. Sadly, the proprietors are closing it in December 2025, which is a great shame. I hope someone equally skilled takes over.

A very cozy space. Good option to go with friends or alone just to spend some good time. This tea room has a whole lot of experience to it. The way the bell rings when we enter, the old books that says how this city was built and progressed, collection of teacups and pots, frames everything is nice. We ordered a cheese sandwich, a chocolate pastery and biscoff. A tea (berry) and hot chocolate. Just a day well spent, no chaos. This tearoom is a part of the museum. So dont forget to visit the museum.

Visited with my Mam after the recent refurbishment. Always a lovely, warm atmosphere with a friendly welcome from Tracy, who knows us from previous visits. Couldn’t have asked for better service, very happy. Food was fresh and delicious, and it was nice to see the carvery area being cleaned very regularly. It was a pleasure, hope to return again soon (as we often do). Thank you!

A pleasant Toby Carvery, food was delicious. We got the last table so the restaurant was busy but it didn't seem that way. The only negative one of the party's order other than a carvery which was ordered was slow in being served. Otherwise a delicious meal in a clean friendly atmosphere.

Lovely fresh and hot, Dean on the meat server was very friendly and chatty it’s a while since we’ve been in but will be back, it’s changed for the better although I’m still on the fence about mac and cheese on a Sunday dinner 😆

Poor Chef was run off his feet. Click and collect food taking priority over customers stood in queue waiting for their food. Stood watching him pack other people’s dinners while the queue got longer and longer then had to wait to be served because maintenance guy came to check gravy station so couldn’t be served till that was back on. Stood in line for 45 minutes total, would be better if someone else out of kitchen could pack orders so Chef can carry on serving. Chef was very apologetic and lovely, food was nice but overall very busy and loud as another family had to ask to be moved as the seating section we were placed in was so busy.

This mcd should be visited only at nights as it was very quiet and you get your order served fully with out any items missing. In the day time it was worst the staff never serve the food properly they always miss sauces in the burger, the staff servers messy fries. Must visit after 10 pm. The store was clean only on nights and the parking is quiet empty on nights.
Ravikiran U — Google review
Very disappointed with the service. I waited over 15 minutes just to get my food packed, even though it was already prepared and visible. The staff member, possibly named Easter, was very rude and completely ignored my request. On top of that, I received the wrong item — I ordered a chicken salad but was given a strips salad instead. The long wait and poor customer service were extremely frustrating. I honestly don’t understand how this place has 5 stars.
Udaram M — Google review
How hard is it to get a order right at 1130 at night. The order is even printed on the box the burger comes in. The drink was like water even though it was meant to be coke. Waited 20 mins for a simple order and they got nothing right. Place is a joke and everyone should go to KFC just up the road.p

Literally the worst McDonald’s to exist, just been bay’d along with about 10 other cars for the most basic order. It’s been 20 minutes so far. Absolute JOKE and the food is always absolutely freezing not sure why I ever bother it’s not even slightly convenient with however incompetent whoever runs the place is. Go to kfc over the road and save your time

I ordered food for 2 people through the McDonalds app, delivered by Uber Eats. A Big Arch burger was missing and I was told to contact Uber. Uber refused to give me a refund. I am £12 out of pocket! When ringing McDonalds they have told me all their bags are weighed before handing to the delivery driver, so its impossible to be missing. So where do I stand?! I am out of pocket. I paid for food I did not recieve. Uber and McDonalds are refusing to give me a refund.

I use Costa when I get a coffee on the go. This is because the coffee is consistently good, and staff are usually friendly and efficient. This outlet was no different, great coffee, cheerfully and efficiently delivered. What more does one want?
Conrad C — Google review
I've Popped in for breakfast here twice, first time around service was excellent. However when I popped in today (Sun 29th) at around 10am. We had to wait 10mins to be served even though we was front of the que. No acknowledgement from the staff saying we'll be with you shortly (which would of been totally fine, it's more the fact no acknowledgement was made), when my order was taken. I wasn't asked if I would like source with my sausage sandwich it was warmed up and served plain to me. It was also slightly cold. Normally Costa food it fairly good for what it is. However slightly disappointed with today's experience. Only other thing to raise and this seems to be an issue across alot of Costa stores. When you visit a costa store bare in mind you are paying a premium for a quality coffee, so in turn I would expect tables to be cleared and wiped down. Today (and a few times in the past at other stores) I've had to clear the table myself.
Jonathan G — Google review
Visited here a few times now and never had a problem until today. We weren't acknowledged for staff for at least 10 mins, staff looked like they hadn't had a good night's sleep. Walking like snails. Customers queuing up as they were prioritising the Drive-thru customers. Never asked if I'd like sauce with the sausage sandwich. Just seemed like it was plonked on a plate and chucked in the microwave. Sausage luke warm too. Costa is usually pretty good but seems to be slacking at the minute. Tables not cleaned either. More interested in serving their drive thru customers and forgetting the instore customer. A bit more attention to detail definitely wouldn't go a miss.
Philip A — Google review

This place was beautifully quiet and played a smooth jazz version of Gangsters Paradise. It was a great song. The toilets had great acoustics and staff were very good and listened to my order and got me the drink I ordered. Its 150miles from my house so won't be coming here for that reason alone.

Poor service twice now. I drove here on two occasions where I arrived during a weekday around 18:55 and yet have been told they are short staffed so cannot serve you, even though their opening times are until 7pm. The staff are not very polite at this branch and they have lost a customer. I recommend Costa at Cleveland Retail Park as they are helpful and friendly and shut on time, not before their stated opening times.

Also the sanitation is really bad they don't even wear gloves when making the food also saw the manager pick his nose and eat it.

I had a very disappointing visit on April 10, 2025, at 8:40 PM. I ordered a Coca-Cola, but the server brought me a flat, warm drink. When I asked for a replacement, she gave me the same bad drink again and made me order (and pay!) a second time just to get a proper cold Coke. The server was rude and unhelpful—no apology or effort to fix the issue. Paying twice for one drink due to poor service is unacceptable. Management, please train your staff better and address this lack of basic customer care. I won’t be returning unless this is resolved.

⭐ Disappointing Service Experience Unfortunately, my recent visit was far below expectations. The service was slow, and the staff member I interacted with was notably rude and indifferent. This was my second time encountering the same individual—the first experience was just as unsatisfactory. While other staff members have been excellent, this particular service issue has left me unable to recommend your business. I hope this feedback helps address the problem for future customers.

Called in today Fri 25/2 for after noon tea. For the price you can't go wrong. Home maid scones were nice and fluffy and the homemade cake the same. No pork pie or sausage roll but the prices else where with these items are £15 plus and not always that good. Asked for water for tea and she made us a fresh pot some thing I have not come across any where else definitely going back I recommend this place.

Second time visiting Minfika for afternoon tea and it was definitely worth the return. The food is great and it's a lovely quaint little cafe. Arrived very early for an outpatient appointment at James Cook University Hospital today and thought I'd get a drink and wait here but it was so crowded and noisy that I couldn't face it. I kept on walking and proceeding along the Orange Route I came across The Hideaway Coffee Shop, which was indeed hidden away behind the Rendezvous Restaurant and mainly frequented by hospital staff. Although a bit run down and scruffy in parts, I got both a mug of tea and a nice slice of Victoria Sponge for the same price as a cup of average Costa coffee. The cheese scones looked nice and homemade, while fruit scones had sold out. I enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard area and arrived nicely refreshed for my appointment.

I find the atmosphere and some staff members to be extremely low moods and even somewhat rude. Not all, but a few. The food and drinks are overpriced for the quality and service. It's always busy. I can ignore most of these things, if the staff are friendly and caring, especially in a hospital setting, but bar a couple, I find most of the staff quite moody. I have visited today and there was a lady serving called Leah. I watched her with every customer and not once did she have a smile, a kind word or a please or thank you to anyone. I found her extremely moody, now I understand people have personal life's maybe impacting their mood. But ive been served by this same person a few times now and shes always the same. We are coming in, being told extremely scary and upsetting news and then going to clear our heads for a coffee, facing a moody, unpolite person doesn't make the situation any easier. Customer facing roles. People should practice customer service skills. It makes a HUGE difference to a customer's experience.

In what world is it ok to serve cake and coffee in takeaway cups and bags with wooden cutlery while charging proper money? Eating carrot cake off a paper bag on a mucky table with a wooden fork is the epitome of scum. See depressing pic.

I was very disappointed to find Costa had closed at noon today and no explanation. I had checked the website to make sure they were going to be open after my appointment, and it said they would be. There were people in the dining area who had obviously been served, but the shutters were down. I wasn't happy at all.

Muffin Break Middlesbrough is a charming café nestled in the Hill Street Centre, perfect for a delightful brunch experience. With its friendly and efficient staff, this spot opens early to cater to morning visitors. While some baked goods like the double chocolate muffin may not hit the mark with their texture, other offerings such as the sausage and egg bagel shine with flavor. The tuna crunch wrap has received rave reviews for its generous size and taste.
Great little spot for brunch in the Hill Street Centre Middlesbrough. Open very early with very friendly and efficient staff (visited morning of 8.9.25). Egg menu is fantastic and meal was good.

This place normally serves good coffee, mochas and lattes and cakes but today was a little disappointing as I ordered a caramel latte and a coffee cake with cream and got a plain latte with no cream for my cake. But it was nice and the cakes was nice

Great staff, great coffee. Cakes were dry, the double chocolate muffin was a chocolate muffin with chocolate cream on top and a small flake. The muffin was a bit dry and over baked was expecting it to be gooey inside was wasn’t. Sausage and egg bagel was really nice. Tuna crunch wrap was really big and delicious said Mam. Would be three star but an extra star for the staff. Price was reasonable two coffees bagel, sandwich four cakes and two drinks and two crisps for kids £30 all in.

Used to be great here but the staff have changed a lot over the past year or so and the service and atmosphere are now not as good. Our visit was tarnished today by being asked to finish our drinks and leave as they were closed - this was at 3.10 when the closing time for the day is 4.00pm. Not impressed! 😡

Do a wonderful mud cake and hot chocolate. Very clean and well-presented cafe. It was lovely to be able to relax in a pleasant environment. Cheap. Terrific customer service.

Service is very very slow. Poor customer facing service with staff chatting to each other and making no eye contact or smiling at the customer. No apology for slow service either. The coffee cake was very tasty but very dry and probably days old. Coffee was actually very good! The cafe its self is in a good place for people watching and in all honesty should be very busy due to its position. May be the management need to start to question their own skills.

I really try not to be negative and I don’t like to drag places down but the ‘iced matcha’ I got today was dreadful, it was literally just milk and syrup, I’m not sure what was in it but it wasn’t matcha. It was bitty looking like frog spawn was in it wasn’t nice wasn’t green really not impressed, I try and support local businesses but this was no good, the muffin was dry bordering stale too being difficult to cut, maybe I’ll have to give it another try.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful breakfast spot, look no further than Porthole Coffee Shop & Premium Desserts. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of traditional English cafes, making it a perfect place to start your day. Guests rave about the delicious pratha and chana, as well as the full English breakfast that hits all the right notes. The coffee is exceptional too, even winning over devoted Costa drinkers!
We came all the way from London and search a place to go for breakfast and found this place. I would definitely recommend to visit this restaurant the food was amazing. Pratha and chana was so delicious specially service was amazing felt us like a home. 😇

The desi breakfast is a piss take of £20 with no tea, 1 big paratha, small portion of channa with boiled egg, Achar, halva. Definitely not worth £20 the paratha is so big she can make a thong out of it for her size too. Measly portion of channa and egg, halva too much grease and it doesn't come with tea.
Rizzy K — Google review
The chicken biryani we ordered was nothing more than a fried rice with some chicken pieces with a boiled egg and the chicken was not even fresh. We were really hungry so we even paced an order of aloo paratha that was also not up to the mark. I hope you would take the review as an opportunity to improve your dishes for customers.

Went to try the desi breakfast as recommended by the TFT...a popular local food blogger and was disappointed as I only got half an egg in my chana and the menu needs to be clear in regards to what paranta you get with the breakfast as aloo paranta will cost you more and can lead to bill confusion....on a brighter note the food tasted excellent!!

Morrisons Cafe is a delightful spot that pleasantly surprised me during my recent lunch visit. I was initially expecting standard café fare, but the fish and chips we ordered were exceptional—one small and one large portion, both bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked without any greasiness. It’s been two decades since I've had fish this good! The price was also quite reasonable at £7.99. Additionally, their takeaway breakfast options are impressive, especially with the generous serving of sausages included.
I had lunch here last Monday, my friend lives locally and it was convenient. I wasn't expecting much to be honest, just basic café food. We both had the fish and chips. One small and one large. Hands down it was the best fish I've eaten in twenty years. Succulent and tasty with no evidence of grease at all. The takeaway at Saltburn pier could learn a thing or two from this place. I don't often have fish and chips as I am usually disappointed. Not this time. And the price....£7.99. Plus I couldn't finish all the portion....I didn't leave any fish though.

I cant give it more, ordered a pot of tea (refillable) to be told its a teabag in a mug. Perhaps change your menu and ordering point. Might seem trivial but I enjoy a pot of tea, which is what it was advertised as.

If the food is luke warm the service is colder. Staff almost seem annoyed to be serving you. Both coffee machines are broken. Tables are dirty.. and being completely honest it's partly not the staff fault. Understaffed to the point of stopping. 1 member of staff to take orders, clean and also deliver the food to the tables... and let's be honest some of the clientel shouldn't be allowed around humans. Still a smile wouldn't go a miss

Supposed to be open till 6. Staff were complaining, about more customers coming in at 4.20pm, as they wouldn't be able to close at 5pm. Out of most kids snack box items. 95% of main meals not available. Choices were burger, chicken tikka or fish pie. Hot drinks were out and a sparse choice of cold drinks. Hot food whilst hot, wasn't great. Not worth the money paid.

Been coming to this cafe regularly for years. Come today at 3.20 to be told breakfast (which is ‘served all day’) was off? I asked why they said they turned it off a while ago ‘to get cleaned ready for close’- which still wasn’t another hour and 40 minutes? They said all they had was Paninis or chips. Presumably because they didn’t require any actual cooking. The place was quiet we were one of three tables so it’s not Asif the close would have taken an exceptionally long time. I’ve worked hospitality myself and know that things can be ticked off ready for close but switching off the ovens 2 hours prior to closing is not one of those things. Absolute laziness

Although the recent renovations have sparked mixed feelings about the layout, with some finding it tricky to navigate while carrying drinks, the overall experience remains positive.

Met with a friend for a cuppa and some cake at 1.30 today. Busy as normal but again only 2 staff on serving. Young man with bags of charm and personality,a young lady with zero of each. May I suggest that you only employ people who want to be there and not people that only have to be there. Her attitude stunk and she obviously was only interested in getting finished as soon as possible. Well done to the young man who apologised and swept up the glass she had broken.

Costa Colby Newham is our favourite go to place for a coffee after our weekly shop, but lately it has been more stressful than it’s worth. Waiting roughly 15/20 minutes for 2 coffees is simply unacceptable, while tables are full of previous customers rubbish. Servers are fine just run ragged !! One server is really friendly, apologising about delays, trying to make conversation, but at busy times I’d rather they just got on with job of serving customers. Coffee and toasties are usually ok but lately cappachino’s aren’t hot enough.

Costa at coulby Newham is very poor and very unacceptable, today myself and my mum went for coffee and for starters my soya cappuccino was way to strong, and made right next to other milk products which is not good enough, my mums latte was to milky and our ginger bread muffins was dry and I found a small fly in mine when I cut into it! Disgusting and made me feel sick. When I complained they said well there fresh today, do you want any more? Err NO I DON'T!! Tables are never cleared, and it's well named Costa as it is expensive, and I'm not impressed. What used to be our weekly treat is now going to be somewhere else

McDonald's is a timeless fast-food institution that has been delighting taste buds for decades. Whether you're grabbing a meal on the go or enjoying a casual outing with friends, McDonald's remains a staple in the world of fast food, serving up familiar flavors that many have come to love.
Not going to lie you need to work on your portion sizes. I ordered for delivery this evening, bag arrived sealed and the pictures are the effort! It is okay as far as McDonald's go. I would recommend the drive-thru rather than going in as my experience inside wasn't great. Too many kids hanging around the entrance being troublesome. Other than that problem nothing bad to say about the place. Staff always seem friendly and polite. Update: shocking food. Ordered a big Mac today that was more like a cold value burger. Update 21st Feb 23: now on short measures for cappuccino and ice creams this week. Absolutely shocking. The cappuccino looks more in the photo, believe me it was half foam half liquid. Short measure of ice cream with the usual gap of air hidden underneath the top swirl.

Our family had the pleasure of enjoying a Sunday dinner at Toby Carvery Chapel Allerton, and it was an experience worth sharing! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring that our meal was nothing short of excellent. From golden, crispy roast potatoes to fluffy Yorkshire puddings and rich, hearty gravy, every bite felt like a comforting taste of home. Service was excellent throughout. It was bloody lovely, Katie was absolutely incredible, asked about our food, gave us time for our drinks, waited patiently for all 5 of us to think and order, and was incredibly friendly all day. We loved her and would love to be served by her next time. The food was delicious however there wasn’t a variety of options for sides as usual, not to mention one of the sides was quite cold under the heaters. The atmosphere was great although i have to say it lacked in space. Other than that, we loved it. Thank you very much once again to Katie and the manager on duty Richard.

had a very pleasant experience at the restaurant. The overall service and atmosphere were both very comfortable and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the manager, Ross, who made us feel at home. The food at this particular Toby Carvery was great. The company i had during our meal also agreed. The service from Katie was great, she only came to the table once to ask us how the food was, and that was enough. Very friendly spoken. The Carver who on shift, Ross W accommodated to change the meat as it was dry and i appreciate that. As this made the meal much more tastfull. As for the atmosphere, the place is very calm. The seating arrangements could of been more thought out. As we had our meal around 3pm, the place had plenty of room for new comers to sit and enjoy themselves, but somehow ended up being cramped up. I would advise not to take the first seating option they provide, instead tell them what you prefer and hopefully they can provide.

Manager always greets you warmly, it’s so professional and so diligent I cannot say any more than five star plus Customer Services. It is very important when regulars come to a pub, they have felt to be treated with respect and kindness from Neil. I find the quality of food excellent warm pot and the staff are always keen to please you with a can-do approach. I really appreciate quality staff and team leadership shown by Neil in all he does, excellent customer conduct and above all being welcome to a local pub that I’ve spent over 25 years. I highly recommend this place on the base excellent service and the goodwill I always get from the Queen. Having, undertaken previously the NHS assurance and customer surveys, changes in services , custom experience, for the council extending to the social caare and transport engagement , I am firmly aware of how staff should be - at the NHS as a board member leader and voluntary sector CEO it gives me a great pleasure in knowing quality stuff to exist in the current climate we live in seeing and observing this. We ordered the large breakfast for 2 with tea and the food was really nice, me and my partner had been feeling really unwell and didn't have the energy to cook food so it was exactly what we needed, all tasted good quality and the prices were really good as well, I hope to order again.

If I had to pick out a fault, it would only be that parking is a little restrictive... everything else is five star! Highly recommended. Hope my review helps. Enjoy
