The Waterboy Cafe is a modern and cozy cafe situated on Phillip Island, offering a stunning view of Westernport Bay. Unlike many other cafes on the island, this cafe provides reasonably priced food and beverages without compromising on quality. Located at 58 Chapel Street, Cowes, it caters to various dietary requirements with its delicious breakfast and brunch options. The friendly service, great atmosphere, and an extensive menu make it a must-visit spot while on the island.
A nice, bustling cafe well situated in Cowes! Service was friendly and fast, especially considering the rush that staff were experiencing, and the food that was served to us was delicious, with fair and generous portion sizes. I especially appreciated how the chai was served, with the spices etc still down the bottom of the jug. I will say my chips were a tad oily and dark, maybe due to being flash fried or sitting around for a while. Nevertheless, a great experience!

Beautiful cafe with lovely ocean views and friendly staff located in the heart of Phillip Island. Vegetarian options available. I tried the smashed avo, which was really yummy!
Serena — Google review
Delicious food with pretty plating in a nice surfers feel restaurant. The chilli & chive scramble ($24) has scrambled egg on toast is slighty spicy but addictively yummy, which goes well with the hashbrown we added on ($2.20). The smoked salmon & potato rosti ($23) has tender salmon with a slight fishy taste of the sea and potato rosti which is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, goes well with wilted spinach ($4). The back of the restaurant has a good view of the sea in a distant.
Ong L — Google review
I had a disappointing experience at The Water Boys Cafe. After waiting for over 45 minutes for my order, I checked in with the staff twice about the delay, but my food still didn’t arrive. It was frustrating to see other tables receiving their orders while I was left waiting. Eventually, after my third inquiry, my food finally arrived, but the long wait really impacted my experience. I understand that restaurants can be busy, but communication and timely service are key. I hope they can improve on these aspects in the future!
Ravi T — Google review
A lovely place to stop for breakfast or lunch, the staff are very friendly which makes a great atmosphere so we came back a second time on our two nights in town. With housemaid hollandaise! and a simple but creative menu! What more can you ask for, an all round lovely breakfast and lunch!
Felix D — Google review
A very nice cafe with a cool vibe. Was extremely busy in the morning which is always a great sign. Coffee was nice and the waffles very tasty. The banana bread was a big size but average taste. Definitely not the best we've tried. Eggs were nice and fluffy as well. Would try again!
Umie — Google review
Food is great but the coffee and hot chocolate is just ok. Probably the regular barrister is not in today. Food looks as good as it taste!
Ho Y — Google review
It's a great little cafe with an excellent menu. It's a good spot for a quiet brunch and has a nice vibe to it. I've taken a star off because I think their coffee could be better (and I care about that) but if I were scoring on food alone they might deserve five stars.

This was our favourite breakfast place in Cowes. We’re not vegetarian but we absolutely loved the food! Tasted even better than it looked and all dishes looked beautiful! The owner will welcome you with the biggest smile too! Highly recommended!

We come here as often as we can even though it’s a long drive for us. Absolutely love the food; I’ve never had a bad meal here. The laksa especially is to die for! We always finish our meal with the yummiest drink - a chili choc chai. The coffee is great too.

I had brunch smashed avocado, mushrooms and large hot chocolate. I do at least 1 brunch a week in Melbourne. The food here was amazing, as well as the hot chocolate, which was huge. GF options great, as my hubby is coeliac. He had banana pancakes and said they were very tasty; delicious. Atmosphere and service Grt too. Def recommend.

Very friendly service. Delicious food. We visit multiple times each time we visit Phillip Island. It's our favourite place to eat. Everything is plant based, yet extremely tasty and professionally presented.

If you have your first meal of the day here.. you're all set up for a wonderful day! Super friendly owners, amazing atmosphere and the food is simply delicious. If I lived in Phillip Island I would definitely come here very often 😍

Really excellent food with friendly, knowledgeable customer service. Mostly vegan with dairy options for coffee and some sweets. Food is very tasty and there is an excellent speciality coffee menu. Pictured is the chilli choc chai and tofu scramble - both excellent.

The menu features freshly made toasts, spicy apple cake, ham and cheese toasties, almond coffee, muffins, and a variety of gluten-free options including pies. Phenomenal... After being referred by two true locals, they said try The Store! What an Island highlight 🌟 The service was excellent The menu options were endless The food and drinks arrived so quickly Everything was on point So many cute places to choose to sit Treat yourself and visit here WOW 🤯

Friendly staff and lovely place to have our morning treats. No.1 toasty in the area I must say. Pet friendly environment. My kid love his first ever Puppyccino. Highly recommended

What a gem. A mix of down to earth and cafe style. Great food range and each meal we had was both tasty and generous in serving size. We had Cuban, reuban and avo! Lovely vibe from friendly staff and bits and pieces for decoration. Good range of indoor and outdoor seating. Great location in middle of Phillip island.

Such a great place and we had an awesome brunch day! The place looked awesome with plenty of parking with the service being very helpful. We had our pets parked near our table where they enjoyed their puppicino. Staff were very friendly and coffee tasted pretty good. Would definitely recommend visiting especially if you have pets.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Hidden Gem on Phillip Island – Loved by Humans & Hounds Alike! If you’re visiting Phillip Island and looking for the perfect spot to grab a coffee, The Store is an absolute must. Tucked away with a beautiful, relaxed vibe, this café isn’t just a treat for us humans – it’s a paradise for pups too! The coffee here? Next level. Rich, smooth, and clearly made by people who know (and love) their craft. I’ve been back more times than I can count, and it’s consistently fantastic. But the real star of the show? Blade, my German Shepherd, gives The Store a solid 5 paws out of 5. He goes crazy for their puppacino! The moment we pull into the carpark, his tail’s already wagging. It’s such a joy to find a place that not only welcomes dogs but truly caters to them. The atmosphere is relaxed, the team is friendly, and the food menu is just as impressive as the coffee. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself (and your furry best friend) a favour and stop by. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
Russell P — Google review
Love everything about The Store. Great coffees, absolutely amazing crew & did I mention the bakes? It’s awesome that they have different kind of pastries all the time so there’s always something new to look forward to every time we stop by. Crowded on the weekends but understandable. good things comes to those who wait ;)

I am constantly on the hunt for a great toasty. This veggi toasty here is up at the top competing with the one at the Sunday Market in Hobart. Great place on top of it. Has a lot of character!

The Cape Kitchen is a fine dining restaurant located in Newhaven on Phillip Island, just 90 minutes from Melbourne. It offers panoramic views of the rugged clifftop and the Bass Strait, providing a stunning backdrop for a memorable dining experience. The restaurant takes pride in supporting regional Victorian producers, particularly those from Gippsland. Their menu features dishes made with local ingredients, including ricotta and buttermilk hotcakes with poached pear and orange curd for breakfast.
Breathtaking views over the ocean & superb food. Book in advance to avoid missing out. The decor has been kept simple and neutral which allows the ocean views to be the focal point as you enter the bright, spacious and airy room. Service was friendly. Great menu with so many amazing dishes, it was hard to choose! All dishes were beautifully presented, and tasted amazing with a perfect balance of flavour. Grilled prawns were so fresh and succulent, and the baby squid (calamari) tender. The lamb shoulder and the beef fillet were both cooked perfectly and were delicious. The Eton Mess was sensational with the orange curd, but the White Chocolate & passion fruit mousse looked and tasted sublime! Such a beautiful setting and delicious food - highly recommend.

Amazing experience. Really top quality food and service. You pay a little more than somewhere in town but what do you expect? The views are excellent and well worth a few extra dollars!
Ian M — Google review
We had lunch here to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was a 2 or 3 course set menu but you can choose the entre, main and dessert. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. I also liked the setting, view and atmosphere. It wasn't too posh that it felt suffocating but it was really nice and relaxed.
Rajina S — Google review
Top 5 best dining experiences I have ever had in Victoria. This is a place that you must visit. From the food, to the view, to the service. It was truly a faultless experience. Bookings are a must. Mains unfortunately not pictured due to being too excited.

What a find! Having driven past this location for many years including its predecessor Shearwater Cafe, tucked away off the main highway, on the south side of the island, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast (9:30 sitting) for a party of 13. Staff were lovely, bacon and eggs excellent and the standout was the ricotta hot cake. Incredible views, nice shaded outdoor seating area and all round top experience. Can’t wait to return and looking forward to the new hot springs development under construction, which they say is opening by early 2022
David W — Google review
First time here last weekend with my partner. We got the 3 course menu for lunch. Everything was SO delicious!! Good sized portions, attentive wait staff and an incredible view! I’ve already told family and friends they need to check out this place when they come to Phillip Island We will definitely be back again

Limited items on the menu but the view is amazing. We went on a windy day and you can really see how strong the waves are. The Full Basket big breakfast was slightly on the smaller size for what we paid for. Hotcakes were delicious.

Fantastic restaurant to celebrate special occasions. Food was delicious, service was phenomenal and the views were amazing. Having several courses here was great, and while slightly expensive, well worth every dollar spent. You can go for a walk nearby outside after eating which is pleasant.

Pop by on kings birthday Monday from Philips island for lunch. Everywhere opened were busy. We stopped by here as a few cafes were opened. Menu is great with the sweet and cakes corner having great choices. The special for the day sausage and eggs was a good portion but the breakfast items are quite small portion. Coffees and matcha were great though. Service wonderful from us stepping in to being served. Unfortunately we were beside a family of brat kids - noisy and rowdy. Overall a nice stopover before or after Philips island visit.
樱木花 — Google review
This place was very busy when we arrived. We were able to get seating inside or outside. The staff were very friendly and greeted us in and showed us the specials. You order at the counter. They will bring you cutlery with your meal. They make their own fudge, which is nice. I had high hopes for this place but the food and coffee was very average. Poached eggs overdone. Bread not buttered. Mushrooms dry and overcooked. No seasoning on anything. Also there was a random clump of what seemed to be tomato paste at the bottom of the bacon. I will say the portion size of the bacon was generous though. Sausage seemed to be cheap thin and store bought. The hashbrowns were good and crispy. The coffee tasted bitter and burnt. The hazelnut syrup they use is barely noticeable. The milk was creamy and good consistency though. All and all a pretty average experience.
Jasmine D — Google review
I never write bad reviews but this was sadly not really enjoyable. I had high hopes and I had been here over the years but it's really gone down hill. They used to sell drinks in bowls which was a great novelty, now it's just a really large mug. The coffee was mediocre. The big breakfast my husband got was good but I ordered the chicken burger since other reviews said it was one of the only good things and it was terrible. The chicken was fake and greasy - not a schnitzel at all. The chips that came with it were barely cooked, pale and not crispy. The only good part was the burger bread. The tomato was under ripe and the lettuce was leafy greens not the type you put in a burger. It felt like a bad pub, meal not worth $20+. It's clearly gotten worse over the years. Also we tried to go yesterday and they were closed at 11.30 and I scoured the internet for notices saying it was closed and there was nothing, not even a sign out front, just closed.
Ella S — Google review
The food here was quite disappointing. We ordered fish and chips, where the fish was very small in quantity while being overpriced. We also ordered chicken burger, which was really dry with very little flavour. The portion size was good but it wasn’t satisfying. The only good thing was the vanilla milkshake. Overall, 2/10.
Anika A — Google review
A cafe in a beautiful spot (once the renovations next door are done) with a decent range of breakfast/brunch options. Food was decent but little tweaks would have made it great (toasting the bread more, being a bit more generous with key ingredients listed). Would definitely stop here again.
Felicity M — Google review
Great place to have your breakfast/lunch while you around Philip island. Staffs are all super friendly and the foods served are really delicious. And the menu is vegan friendly too😇 you will get a copy of menu and choose your preferred place to sit. Ordering and payment will be done at the reception after you review the menu. Highly recommended to tourists 😁
Dain G — Google review
Absolutely amazing food and service!!! The staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience and the food is just fantastic. Very quick as well!
Jess R — Google review
Arrived around 1.40 on a Friday to find they were only offering outdoor dining (they'd cleaned the tables inside). It was freezing and breezy outside. We were not greeted warmly by the lady behind the counter and felt like an inconvenience from the start. There were around ten customers in the 30 mins we were there, many who decided to get takeaway or just leave because the environment was not welcoming. I had an overpriced and really not tasty GF haloumi burger which was dumped in front of me by a disgruntled waitress. With GF charge added my burger seemed to be around $18 and contained what tasted like cheap pesto, a small piece of haloumi, a soggy mushroom and some spinach. My friend's corn fritters looked much nicer. The man working seemed much nicer and went out of his way to help the ladies on the next table.

G'Day TIGER is a relatively new cafe located in Cowes on Phillip Island, just a short walk from the beach. The cafe aims to bring the renowned Melbourne coffee culture to locals and tourists alike. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior features plywood walls and concrete bench-tops reminiscent of Melbourne cafes. G'Day TIGER offers a variety of coffee options sourced from guest roasters across Melbourne, including filter coffee served hot or cold and espresso choices.
Absolutely love G’Day Tiger in Phillip Island! The atmosphere is cozy with inside and about side area, the coffee is top-notch, and the staff is super friendly. A perfect spot to chill and get a morning coffee . Highly recommend this gem for any coffee lover!

Great coffee in Cowes. On different days I have a flat white and a strong iced latte. Both really nice and balanced. Only thing I would like to have is an option of a medium size when there was only a small and large. Small size was really good though. The iced matcha latte was great, strong flavour and not too milky. Ordered a H+C Sanga with the tiger sauce, fantastic!! This place is now a must for me in Cowes.

I brought the family here for breakfast and tried all of the toasted sandwiches on offer. First, the pros - the shop is open early - earlier than many of the other local breakfast offerings. The mushroom and tuna sandwiches are standouts, though all the sandwiches are tasty. The cons - customization isn't always possible - they weren't able to remove pickles from one of the orders. The other drawback is the price, which is definitely on the steep side. It would have been a 5 star review if not for the price. Worth trying out!

🌟 G'day, Perfection — Gday Tiger is a Revelation in Coffee Culture 🐅☕ I’ve just had the kind of coffee experience that rewires your brain chemistry and ruins all other cafés for you. Gday Tiger isn’t just a coffee shop — it’s a portal to an alternate universe where the beans are sacred, the baristas are caffeinated alchemists, and your taste buds are taken on a spiritual journey. From the moment you walk in, you feel it. The vibe? Equal parts minimalist zen and industrial cool. The smell? A hypnotic swirl of roasted perfection and freshly baked pastries that should be illegal. Every detail is dialled in — from the playlist to the plant placements — but the real magic is in the cup. Their flat white? A silky, microfoamed masterpiece that could make an Italian cry. The espresso? So smooth it practically apologises for every bitter shot you’ve ever suffered through. Even their alternative milk game is elite — oat, almond, macadamia, you name it — all perfectly paired and never overpowering. And let’s talk service: the team at Gday Tiger doesn’t just make coffee — they craft experiences. Friendly, fast, and wildly knowledgeable, they’ll remember your name, your order, and the fact that you once mentioned a trip to Lisbon six months ago. Whether you're chasing your next caffeine high, deep in your WFH grind, or just looking for a slice of existential bliss, Gday Tiger delivers the goods — every. single. time. Tell Jono I sent you!! 🔟/10. I’d tattoo their logo on my soul if I could.
Russell P — Google review
It opens early, and the friendly staff made my holiday morning extra enjoyable with a delightful breakfast. Even though the shop is small, the decor and service are full of warmth—I absolutely loved it.
張曉楓 — Google review
Excellent coffee and amazing toasted sandwiches. This is one of only two places on Phillip Island that makes really first rate coffee. The other is Mod Eisley. But the thing that really sets G'Day Tiger apart is their toasted sandwiches - they are the best on the Island and while they aren't particularly cheap they are worth the money. The shop itself is small but there are usually tables available out the front and the service is great.

The cafe Burnt Toast is a great place to go if you're looking for some good coffee, housemade gourmet pies, and delicious cakes. It's rustic but has a nice atmosphere and the staff are excellent. The brekkie here is huge and will fill you up for the whole day, and the iced chocolates with ice cream and cream are delicious.
Love this place! Coffee is the best around. Toasties are also amazing. Staff are friendly and attentive. I’ve been coming here for years and it’s a family favourite.

Amazing steak and pepper pie - extremely peppery which we loved! Big breakfast was nothing too special. It was served on a plate that dipped in the middle so it was hard not to keep knocking the plate up and down when trying to cut into the food. A flat plate with an even surface would have been much more practical. Service was lovely though, and we enjoyed looking at the quirky artwork in the cafe.

Really lousy service really, don’t come here if you don’t wanna be disappointed. We ordered 2 cup of black coffee and they gave us 2 cup of milk coffees. We went back to get it change but they closed all the gates and insisted that they are close and they don’t wanna change it for us even though it has only been 2-3 minutes. Wouldn’t even listen to our request when we knock on the door, just keep saying nope nope nope we knocked off. Best service ever in Australia Lastly the coffee taste bad
Kong H — Google review
Coffee was good and the food I ordered was nothing to complain about. Hash brown was crispy and eggs runny. It's not food that's going to blow you away, but it hits the spot. The only downside is that it's more of a takeaway spot than a dine in and chat with friends kind of place.
Lemon L — Google review
I was quite let down by my recent visit. I ordered a black coffee due to my lactose intolerance, but was mistakenly given one with milk. I understand errors can happen, so I returned to the shop just a few minutes later to address it. However, the barista had already pulled down the shutter and dismissed us. This left a very negative impression, and I truly hope the service and communication improve in the future.
Kong T — Google review
A cafe with a community feel. Indoor and outdoor dining options available. Locals and visitors are willing to queue up just to dine in, which says a lot about its good reputation. Pets are allowed adding to the cuteness factor and the community feel. Coffee is great, cafe food is excellent. And in case you're curious to know: no, they do not serve burnt toasts! Highly recomended.
Vito B — Google review
Great food for great prices, the portions were generous and we were stuffed by the end of it. The bread was toasted well, with enough crisp but not too hard crusts. Staff were really nice, and the place is dog friendly too!

Not a bad choice and a cool cozy spot for breakie or brunch we gor lucky it was a nice sunny day. The food was pretty and reasonably fresh and reasonably priced. Got smoothies which felt a bit all Ice. The lady was nice enough to change it to a fruit smoothy 👍 i think the taste of our meals could have had some improvements. All and all good choice to try. I went to the Haven Wave Cafe at the beginning of March with 4 friends as were were visiting Phillip Island and staying nearby. It’s a really nice cafe with lovely outdoor tables. Sal, the owner, bought us menus, water and told us to take our time and come in to order when ready. Actually there are a lot of panini and sandwich selections available at the counter inside than what is shown on the menu. The food is great. We ordered a couple of the full brekkie and it is such a generous portion. All the food is fresh and tasty. The panini we ordered was really delicious and the drinks are served in big mugs and very good. It was definitely the best breakfast I had in Australia and probably even better than in the U.K.! However, the most memorable part of our visit was Sal. He has a larger than life personality and was so warm and friendly. We had a lot of laughs and jokes with him. The weather was pretty dreary that morning and looked like it might rain. We joked with Sal and said we would pay him $1,000 if he could make the sun come out by the time we left the cafe. Holy smoke, the sun actually started peeking out by the time we were ready to leave so we had to make s hasty retreat. We were sad to leave and before we left Sal gave us great tips on how to keep a marriage happy (happy wife, happy marriage). Thank you Sal for a fantastic time at your cafe. If you are visiting Phillip Island you should definitely visit Haven Wave cafe as it’s as much as an attraction as the penguin parade!

Kelp San Remo is a popular dining spot on Phillip Island, conveniently located near the bridge connecting Newhaven and San Remo. The restaurant boasts a charming coastal-inspired interior with warm lighting, creating a welcoming ambiance. Since its opening in late 2021, Kelp has quickly gained popularity for its diverse menu offerings, including breakfast bagels and birria queso tacos. Guests can also enjoy tapas and cocktails in this vibrant setting.
5 stars = would come back Great food, delicious and very fresh. The pictures will do the rest of the talking. For those conscious about this kind of thing: the prices seem high, it was exactly $90 for what you see in the photos plus a beer. Although very worth it in my opinion if the food deserves it.
Charbel T — Google review
What an amazing dining experience. From the service to the cocktails to the food, all faultless. The best Mexican tapas, with a twist, I have ever had. Will definitely return again when visiting the area. Thanks to the whole team 🤗

Kelp is always a must to visit for us. The staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is funky, and the service is quick. The burgers and tacos are mouthwatering, the cocktails and on-tap beer are top-notch, and the kingfish ceviche is consistently amazing. It's definitely one of the top restaurants on the Bass Coast!
Stephen P — Google review
Visiting from Sydney and my local Melbourne friends and so glad we found Kelp! The vibe is relaxed but stylish, and the staff were genuinely lovely, welcoming and attentive from the moment I walked in. I had the fish tacos and ceviche, both were fresh, flavourful, and beautifully done. And the Mango Bongo cocktail was a standout because it’s tropical, refreshing, and just delicious. You can tell there’s real care in everything they do here. Definitely a spot I’ll come back to next time I’m in town!

Such a great spot for dinner and cocktails in San Remo! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and so fresh - the prawn tostadas and peach spritz cocktail were the stand outs. The restaurant was busy but the service was on point - couldn’t fault a thing! So nice to see more exciting dining spots popping up on Phillip Island. We’ll definitely be back!

True hospitality here. Everything is considered and calmly executed. No arrogance and crew is proud of what they have created as a whole experience. Locals passing find it hard not to stop and say hello to staff. Food is always fresh and lovely and so importantly, consistent! They always do their best for walk ins and stagger bookings so kitchen never seems to be unpleasantly pressured. Always a very enjoyable experience. Have been at least 6 to 8 times. Very well done Kelp crew.

I don’t often give high praise but really loved this place. Had such a nice vibe and the Thai chicken pie was incredible. They also had a puzzle set up which we enjoyed adding too. Would love to live near a local cafe like this 👌🏻

Hidden gem off the beaten track on Phillip Island, lovely atmosphere and ambience, a solid menu and drinks list. If you're expecting Melbourne CBD level of food, maybe tone it down a bit, but everything was well done and delicious. Also, I think there's been some changes to ownership, name and menu based on the Google suggestions. So be aware.
Felix S — Google review
This place has so much potential, and the service is nice enough, but the coffee making is often extremely slow, and it really shows during the busy summer period. They get easily overwhelmed. I recently ordered a savoury muffin to go, and all it needed was to be heated up. Only one person had come up to order while I was waiting, and yet it took over 5 minutes just for someone to put it in the microwave to heat it. There was 1 person making coffees, another who was making a milkshake, another waitressing, and a lady restocking the cabinet. I was so surprised that not one person could multitask. I enjoyed the okonomiaki pancake with mushroom, but honestly, it was a little small.

Mon Dieu is a charming cafe and restaurant located in Cowes, offering a delightful dining experience. Situated in the heart of Cowes, it provides a casual and relaxed ambiance for visitors to enjoy. The restaurant serves a variety of delectable dishes suitable for families and individuals alike. With both indoor and outdoor seating options available, patrons can savor their meals while taking in the pleasant surroundings.
ORDERED: 🥦 Cauliflower Hash: house made cauliflower hash, smoked salmon, fried free range egg, truffled seasonal greens & pumpkin hollandaise ($25.00) + 🧀 halloumi ($5.50 each) 🎃 Pumpkin Bonjour: house made pumpkin chutney, crumbled feta, marinated chickpeas, compressed tomatoes, side of Turkish focaccia ($25.00) It was ~$27.25pp here between two people. REVIEW: 🌟 Mon Dieu's brunch offerings bring my brunch dreams back to life. ☁️ The creativity, the colours, the quality. They use every real estate of the plate and it's visually filling. ✌️ Between the Cauliflower Hash and the Pumpkin Bonjour, I preferred the former. 1. I liked that I could mix and match different elements on my plate to have a different taste with every bite. I enjoyed the variety, with smoked salmon and halloumi being particular weaknesses of mine! 🤤🐟 I couldn't remember the seasonal greens having a particularly strong truffle taste/the hollandaise taking a pumpkin flavour. It all complemented each other so well. 2. My friend preferred the Pumpkin Bonjour for how flavourful it was! The side of toasted Turkish focaccia which was lightly buttered made it feel so decadent. Honestly, you'll be winning with either option. 🏆 There's no table service, but that's clearly articulated on the menu. Go up to the cashier to place and pay for your order. 🚶‍♀️ Since we were a large table, this method worked out better because we were able to to split payments easily! Service was notably friendly, and the farm vibe atmosphere works perfectly in the location. It brought an openness, casualness and warmth that's missing from brunch locations in inner city Melbourne. 🗺️

Went here while in town based in good review. We were seated in the deck area after a short wait. Café food with a nice flare. Chicken with chips (paid for double chicken) was a let down. Doesn’t look like “double chicken” to me. Otherwise food was aesthetically presented and well balanced.

Lovely place a bit outside of Cowes but easy to reach by foot. Had a delicious breakfast with colleagues. Coffee was also great!!! Loved the character full house! Must be 100 years or older. Staff was super nice and the presentation of the food inviting!

Mon Dieu is a lovely café on Phillip Island where we enjoyed a delightful brunch. My son had already finished his breakfast early, so he only ordered some potato chips. There were just three of us having brunch—my brother, his partner, and me. I had the grilled Barramundi topped with capers, served with a rocket salad, tomatoes, a crispy orange-colored side, and a light purple pickle. The salad dressing was excellent—very refreshing and flavorful. My brother and his partner chose the sourdough ham & cheese and the bread with salmon and eggs Benedict, both of which looked delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive, making our experience even better. Highly recommend Mon Dieu for a great meal and welcoming atmosphere!

Mon Dieu! This cafe was a surprising find, tucked away from the main strip in Cowes. The menu offers a range of options and all very hard to choose from. We chose a green salad and the barramundi and we were not in the least disappointed. The food was delicious and full of flavour. We shall be back.

The food was okay, but the service was disappointing. The person serving us, who appeared to be the owner, came across as dismissive, and some of the interactions carried uncomfortable, racially biased undertones that made us feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, this overshadowed the meal, and we would not return or recommend the restaurant.

Despite the bad weather outside, we sat inside to enjoy our brekkie under the upbeat music. I quite like the coffee. Most of the food is also good but we did have some comments on the toastie. The friendly male staff gave us a swift feedback which impressed us a lot. You made our day mate.

The atmosphere and the location are top notch. Outdoor sitting on a nice sunny day topped it for us. Coffee here is been amazing and staff were friendly to say the least. Pulled pork tacos were absolutely amazing. Meat fillings on point. While the veggie burger was basic. Pattie lacked flavour or even seasoning. The burger was just slaw and Pattie with spicy mayo in it. Parking can be troublesome so that's something to consider. Would I come back - yes already back

I recently had breakfast at this incredible restaurant, and it’s easily one of the best experiences I’ve had. The food is simply outstanding, and the aroma of the freshly brewed coffee instantly pulls you in. The Egg Benedict was a real standout for me—served uniquely with crispy hash browns instead of the traditional bread, it was a refreshing and delicious twist that I absolutely loved. The ambiance is equally impressive. The place is impeccably clean and neat, with a calm, relaxing environment that makes it perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal. And let’s not forget the breathtaking ocean view! It’s the ideal backdrop to a perfect dining experience. Whether you're a coffee lover or a brunch enthusiast, this spot is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!

Definitely my new favourite coffee place!! 😁 It was a little bit of a wait for our order but by far more than worth the wait! The staff was extremely friendly and inviting, but the absolute star of the show was the ✨ COFFEE✨ The best cup of coffee I've had in a while and that's saying something because I'm a huge coffee drinker 😁👍🏼 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We took a southern Fried chicken burger, a caesar salad with chicken and a fish & chips, all of them were really good ! The only issue we had was the seagulls flying above us but that's fine it's not the fault of anyone. Thanks for the hosting and service. Recommend it.

So surprised with this place. It wasn't coming up on Google when I was looking for breakfast, so we came across it just walking along when we didn't see anything to our likes in the nearby cafes. And might I say, our third day in Phillip island and after multiple coffees, this one was the best so far in Phillip island. We had a lactose free cap, lac free mocha and two babycinos. The vegan Brekky, smashed avo and pancakes were all delish! The only thing I would fault would be the mushrooms, they were quite watery. This is the only review I am writing for Phillip island as the other places didn't impress. Great job Thursday morning staff at Gullivers!

2022 Review Revised Score: 1 We ordered food and waited for about an hour. Other tables who ordered later got their food ahead of us so we decided to follow up our food. One of the staff informed us that there was a technical glitch, that the food we ordered were not transmitted to the kitchen. As a consequence, our food was not cooked yet. The manager did not bother to check if we've been served already. The staff thanked us for our patience but a formal apology was not issued. This is the worst service we've got. Interestingly, the food came in just 10 minutes after we have expressed our disappointment. If they can serve faster, I can't understand why we had to wait for an hour in the first place. It's not even a rush hour. 2021 Review Original score: 4 Visited here for lunch. Salads are fresh. Calamari and chips are hot and crispy crispy. Pasta is cooked properly with generous serving of sauce. We decided to eat inside for a little bit of privacy. If you dine outside, please be warned that feral birds are preying on leftover foods.

Don’t judge a book by its cover! The place is tired and dirty *looking* with not much atmosphere to speak of but the service was top notch and the food was fresh and tasty. Coffee was really nice. We stopped over here for breakfast during our Philip Islands Tour. They were among the few cafes open in the morning and the menu was quite good too. It wasn't crowded and we got the seating for our group. You need to place the order at the counter and pay upfront. We ordered the following: Eggs Benedict, Grilled Chicken Burger, Roast Veg Sandwich, Acai Bowl and a couple of varieties of coffee. The items were served without much wait. The taste was really good and the quantity/portion size is worth the price as well. Staff are friendly and courteous. Overall a good place for a food pitstop.

Our family visits Phillip Island quite often, and this isn’t our first time at this café. In the past, I would have happily given it 5 stars, but now I can only give 3. Perhaps due to rising costs, the portion sizes seem noticeably smaller, and prices have gone up — which is understandable. However, what’s disappointing is that the quality of the food and cooking has declined significantly. I ordered the smoked salmon dish, which surprisingly came fully cooked. It had a strong fishy smell, which made me wonder if it was due to the chef’s inexperience, or an attempt to mask ingredients that weren’t fresh — I can't say for sure. The only thing that remains consistently good is the coffee, which is why I’m still giving 3 stars.
Christopher T — Google review
Beautiful coffee, can’t believe how cheap it is. We came from Melbourne & the prices are in spike in Melbourne. We spent only $51 for 2 large cups of milk (for kids), 2 large cups of coffee and 2 super big egg & bacon sandwiches (very fresh). Worth trying this beautiful cafe. We have decided to come here every morning during our stay in Philip island.

I just *had* to come here to see for myself, which of these reviews were accurate. Full disclosure, I came in at 8.30am for coffee and it was quiet, but the service was terrific and the coffee excellent. There doesn't appear to be a huge variety of breakfast options (and I didn't eat) but can't mark them down for that. Found no evidence of one star service.

When visiting Philip Island, make sure to swing by Island Pies, a quintessential Aussie pie shop that’s a must-visit for any traveler. Whether you're heading in or out of the island, this delightful eatery is sure to satisfy your cravings with its hot and tasty offerings!
I ordered a scallop pie and a latte for breakfast. I really liked the taste of the scallop pie and was satisfied with the portion size. The latte had a slight sourness, which suited my preference. The atmosphere inside the shop was lively and vibrant. I’d love to try a different pie next time.

This pie store is conveniently located on the way to Philips Island, and we were glad to have a pit stop before it closed. I called ahead to inquire about their famous scallop pie, and the staff was kind enough to reserve two for us. We also ordered the cauliflower pie and Apple strudel, and each pie was delicious. They have a wide variety of hot pies and baked goods, and the cauliflower pie is a special treat (you don’t often see it). The apple strudel was perfectly made and not too sweet. If you’re in the region, don’t miss out on this place!

If you're going there for the scallop pie specifically it is worth it. It had 4 whole scallops & a nice creamy sauce. The other stuff we got was just standard bakery items nothing was above average.

Went in for the scallop pie but discovered the delight that is the caramelised onion pork pie... like wow. It was a solid 10/10 flavour sensation. If you ever go to Phillip Island, you have to stop there 🙌🏻

We just had to try the curry scallop pie, and it did not disappoint, great flavours and plenty of yummy scallops (yes, complete with roe sack). Top notch! Plenty of other pies for those no into scallops, then vanilla slices etc and great coffees too.

For the travelers, nice to have a try. There are over 4 scrolls in the pie. Also, the yellow sauce in the scallops let me feel home. There is a very local dish in HK restaurant (Cha Chaan Teng) which called 葡國雞Portuguese Coconut Chicken. The strong favor of curry, coconut cream and Turmeric is much more the same stuff

Passing by this restaurant few time during my stay at phillip island. Been told by wife that she wanted to try this scallop pie. So we stop over and give it try. First at all atmosphere was ok, service so so only. We do to go bought scallop pie and beef chuncky pie. The scallop pie ok but the beef chuncky is to beefty ( the beef smel yo strong ) over all so so

Mmm, piping hot pie for breakfast! I was honestly expecting cold pie so maybe that's why I was so thrilled to bite into mine, first thing on a cold winter morning. The young lady at the counter was very helpful, when I asked the difference between regular beef pie (mince) and chunky (stew meat). The pastry was a touch on the bready side--but also flaky at the same time??--but it did the job of holding in all that saucy filling and made eating it without any plate or utensils much less messy. There was also a huge variety of sweet baked goods. There are about six small tables inside and some outdoor seating as well. And a small parking lot.

Cafe
"My Seaside Cafe" in Rhyll, Phillip Island is a charming spot with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. They are knowledgeable about dietary restrictions and offer gluten-free options for those with celiac disease. The cafe serves delicious brunch items like Eggs Benedict and Beef Breakfast Burger, both of which are prepared with attention to detail. With indoor and outdoor seating, it's an ideal place to relax after activities like biking or driving down from the Ranges.
The cafe locates just right opposite to the beach. The Schnitzel we had is very tasty, it's tender inside and crispy outside cooked perfectly. On top of that the mocha cake is a perfect addition to the lovely sunny afternoon. We will definitely come back for more.

I didn't even consider writing a review until the lady that worked at the Cafe rudly commented "we are not mind readers" when my back was turned and I had started to walk away. I ordered 1x iced chocolate and 2x iced mochas. I was asked what size I'd like and shown the cups on display - I requested regular. No more other questions where asked when taking my order. This is what I received (image below). Apparently the iced chocolate comes with icecream but you 'must ask' for icecream in an iced mocha as it only comes with 3 cubes of ice and in a small cup!...I'm meant to know this! And apparently that is a regular iced mocha despite the cup sizes on display. Very unsatisfied! I've never been served an iced mocha in a tiny cup with no icecream, and was happy to take it on the chin....but then the rude comment from the blonde middle aged woman was completely unnecessary and unprofessional (possibly manager or owner). Teach your staff to take orders properly (and to smile and be friendly wouldn't hurt anyone), the rude comments at the end was not necessary or respectful. You could have offered to fix my order and I would have left contented!

Really enjoy having brunch here. Lovely view, friendly service good food and coffee. Can't ask for more than that. Oh and reasonable prices especially for around the Island.

Such a nice cafe with lovely scenery. It’s unfortunate the slices are tiny and had to wait 45 minutes. What made it worst was waiting with a young child and a baby and had to remind them TWICE for our food. It’s our local but not sure we will be back.

Such a generous portion of breakfast. Beautiful location, indoor and outdoors seating. Friendly, hospitable staffs. Kids friendly.

One of the best brunch spots on the island! Every time I have walked past this place, it has been booming with customers. I finally tried it over the weekend was not disappointed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was delicious and came with a generous amount of ham. My partner ordered the Beef Breakfast Burger, which was seasoned very nicely. Their attention to detail is impeccable. Staff were also very sweet and polite. Being right across the street from the Rhyll inlet, you really can’t afford to skip out on this beautiful view of the ocean while enjoying your breakfast. An island-visit essential.

This café is our little local when we are down for the weekend and it is simply divine. From the friendliest, most lovely staff to the awesome chef serving up the most amazing food every time. Coffee is my absolute favourite here. Never have trouble getting a table or having to wait long at all for a coffee. I still look forward to visiting each time! Highly recommended.

The positive reviews were 100% correct. We had an amazing brekky, the coffee was so delicious, smooth and fresh tasting. It was full of flavour and also reasonably priced. They catered for my dairy allergy too. It was a lovely location too we had a sunny day with a light sea breeze and sparkling sea view. Will definitely come again!

Omaru Farm Stay, Store & Cafe is a charming working farm located in the scenic hills of Ventnor on Phillip Island. The farm offers breathtaking panoramic views of Western Port, the Nobbies, Seal Rocks, and Cat Bay. Visitors can explore the farm, interact with animals like chickens and cows, and even be accompanied by friendly dogs. The farm shop is a treasure trove of delicious chilli jam and olive oil produced on-site.
Such a beautiful place to dine. The setting itself was peaceful and breathtaking, making the entire experience truly exceptional. Food was amazing, every dish was made with love and packed with authentic flavours. Truly an amazing farm to table experience. This place is a true gem and a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be returning and highly encourage anyone to give it a go.

We ate here last weekend and we were very pleased with the food. Was absolutely delicious. We ordered nearly every curry. Special mention to the spicy chicken curry and eggplant curry. Fed 7 of us!! Felt very content on a winters night. Staff were lovely

We called in here to have a snack and a coffee. The service was lovely and friendly but the food and drink were terrible. The “Sri Lankan” coffee was watery, icey coffee and my latte was too strong. The sausage roll was huge but cold inside so I sent it back to be heated. The filling was like a rough textured tasteless hamburger. It was awful. The little produce shop was staffed by a lovely friendly lady but the goods were overpriced. The place looks neglected and a mish mash of unkempt bits here and there. Pity because the location and views are lovely. In response to the owners reply: Thank you for your response. My companion believed the coffee was called “Sri Lankan,” and if that was incorrect, we sincerely apologise for the misunderstanding. However, I would like to respectfully point out that suggesting my comment may have had a racist undertone is both surprising and quite impolite. That was absolutely not the case, and certainly not our intention. We love the multi cultural country we live in and the food it brings. We do appreciate the warm service and beautiful location, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into your work. We understand and respect the challenges of running a small business, and we wish you continued success in your efforts.

We ate lunch and also bought up big from the farmhouse shop. Just a great experience all round and the views at this place are spectacular! I wish this business all the best we will definitely come back on our travels next year! Definitely a hidden gem on Philip Island!!!

I have recently visited omaru farm and I can say it was one of the best experiences I have had. The food was great. The vibes were magical and this ties up with the beautiful view the farm had to offer. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was delicious/fresh and comes with a good portion. Farm store got fresh vegetables and different variety of olive oil mixtures. The place was easy to find and it is on the way to the Nobbies, Phillip Island.

We loved the fresh tomatoes, egg plant and enormous xxl free range eggs from the store. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Th facilities were clean and spacious with no barrier access. You can feel that it is a small family business run with lots of love :)

Stayed at Omaru about a couple of weeks ago with kids and elderly parents. We had a fantastic time. Very friendly staff, and a warm welcome from Ms Rosie and Alka. The service levels were top end, one of the nights we got back late from one of the attractions on Phillip Island. We had ordered dinner before we left for the show, hoping that we would be back in time before the restaurant closed, but we did not. Ms Rosie made sure she delivered it to our cabin despite our late return. The cabin was very cozy and overall we had a very comfortable stay. Big plus when you are considering a farm stay here is having a wonderful cafe onsite. The views from the cabins and the farm are top notch, we got to see some wonderful sunsets. Great for a visit with your family if you are seeking some peace and quiet. Very well located on Phillip Island with quick access to the Penguin Parade and the Nobbies Boardwalk.

Exceptional customer service, especially by the manager Jenna! Can’t fault her whatsoever, always smiling, friendly and helpful even when under the pump. Best coffee on the island, no matter who is on the machine it’s always consistent. Our daily coffee spot, thanks guys!

Excellent coffee - one of the best if not THE best on the island! Super friendly & welcoming team. Plenty of locals coming through. Our new favourite too! Couple of toasted sandwiches and an iced chocolate made for a very nice lunch - simple but fresh and delicious. Plenty of outdoor dog-friendly seating, as well as indoors.

I have been visiting this cafe for my morning coffee over the past few weeks. Although it’s a cafe, it functions more like a coffee bar. Coffee is good. Food limited to sandwiches and pastries.

Venture a little further from the beach up the main street and you'll find more reasonably priced coffee here! Decor is sleek and the covered outside bar stools are the perfect place to savour the coffee, sangos or sweet treats. Friendly service too.
