Stunning. What a hidden gem. Great atmosphere amazing food and great portion sizes. I wish there were more places like this. Well done guys

A hidden gem! Our 3rd visit to this lovely pub tucked away off the busy main area. Nice outside seating area where we sat with our 2 dogs. Bowls of water provided, perfect after a long beach walk and thirsty pups. The food on previous visits was very good and this time it was the same. Ordered 2 ultimate burgers and wow such good value for money. The quality of the beef was exceptional. I had to ask for a takeout box as it was so big I couldn’t finish it all. Worth a try if you’re in the area. We already can’t wait to return.
Ellen P — Google review
Lovely pub a little out of the way and could easily be overlooked. Nice dog friendly bar with a good range of beers, we only went in for a drink so not able to review the food although it looked incredible. Definitely worth finding this pub as it is a hidden gem!

Friendly service, Great food & lovely atmosphere as always! Thanks for a fab birthday meal last night, see you next year!

We always visit the beautiful gem in woolacombe after discovering it nearly a decade ago now. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere of the place is relaxed & welcoming. The staff are amazing! Helpful in every way even during busiest of periods. Would definitely recommend as a great place to eat oh & the cocktails wow 👍🍸😋😊

Tucked away just off the main strip, The Jube is a bit of a hidden gem in Woolacombe. We went on a Friday night, so it was understandably busy, and we had to wait a little while for a table, but it was totally worth it. The vibe is spot on. Relaxed, friendly, and perfect whether you’re just grabbing a quiet drink or catching up over food with friends. Our waiter was brilliant really attentive despite how packed it was. The food took a little time to come out as they work from a small kitchen, but honestly, when it arrived, we got it. Everything was so fresh and the portions were huge. Properly off-the-charts good. You can tell they care about quality. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this spot. It’s the kind of place that feels laid-back but still delivers in a big way.
Navi A — Google review
A Regrettably Disappointing Visit – Be Warned I feel it's important to share our experience to hopefully prevent others from encountering the same frustration. Our recent visit was, regrettably, very disappointing. First and foremost, the wait times were outrageous. We were initially told a 50-minute wait for a table of two, with no option to book in advance. After nearly an hour of waiting, we were told our table would be ready "soon." However, once we were finally able to order, we faced an additional 1 hour and 15 minute wait for our food to arrive. The atmosphere was equally problematic. If you're hoping to eat outside, be prepared for a constant stream of chain-smokers. Inside, the noise level was akin to a nightclub, with blaring music and shouting making it incredibly difficult to hold a conversation, even with those at our own table. The bar staff also seemed overwhelmed and barely acknowledged customers. It was evident that the staff are overworked and severely mismanaged. They appeared to be receiving conflicting instructions, leading to a chaotic environment. (Kudos to the front-of-house staff member who was trying their best to manage the huge influx of people.) Lastly, let's talk about the prices, which are frankly extortionate. It's as if we were In London ! the cost of both food and drinks was astronomically high, far exceeding the average prices found at other local restaurants
Ashman B — Google review
Lovely pub hidden in the back streets, great seating inside and out. Quiet when we visited but would imagine that it would get full in the summer holiday months. Dog friendly. Really tasty, well presented food. Plenty of choices on the menu. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great little find and would thoroughly recommend.

We stopped here for lunch after a walk to Bull Point Lighthouse. Food was really tasty and service was great. Plenty of options on the menu and specials too. Portions were generous. The Stafford cider is a must try. Food was served 12:00-14:30. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

Most welcoming and friendly pub that became my go to lunch spot. I felt right at home when the lovely gentleman behind the bar was so warm and helpful. Food was delicious, atmosphere cozy and decoration on spot.

Great pub. Beer spot on, service friendly (late June). The food is superb, whichever chef is on, you will get fantastic authentic food. Don't bother with the other sunken ship in the village.

Stopped here after a walk to the beach. Lovely cider and toasted sandwich. Bowl of water provided for our dog. Great service, tasty snacks and friendly staff
Helen W — Google review
Loved the food here!! So good we came 2 nights running. A very varied menu, from Asian to trad English. We tried the goat curry, mango chicken curry, prawn and squid starter, oriental pork belly. Warning - meat portions are HUGE!! Very efficient service, didn't have to wait long for the food, and friendly bar staff. Highly recommend.

Great little pub. We popped in after taking a walk. Ordered the posh fish fingers and chips. No regrets. The local larger (forget the name) was really quite good. Would recommend

we had a very enjoyable dinner on a Wednesday night in September. Chef was extremely helpful service was friendly and professional. Great tasting burger off the specials board obviously home made. We will return, best pub in morthoe 😋 many 🙏 thanks

Was Disappointed with the seafood sharing platter, it was 3 bowls of deep fried beige, the lemon sole goujons had been replaced with something else but I couldn't identify what fish they were and there were no marinated prawns, the chips were very flourey which made them dry and hard to eat without constant washing down, however the staff were nice and pub had a good atmosphere, door leading to loos and kitchen could do with a clean very grubby

Great find. Beautiful, clean venue with beach views. Centrally located minutes from the beach. Fabulous Sunday roast; very special for Mother's day. Josh was very welcoming and his colleagues were also polite and friendly. Great service from a young team. What a pleasure. Book today!

We haven’t eaten here but it’s a great spot to enjoy a cold beer or a glass of bubbly on what must be one of the best sun terraces in Woolacombe. Have returned a few times. Excellent place for chilling with great views in the sunshine.

Awesome view. Woolacombe beach Great breakfast and great price. Will go as often as I can. Terrific staff, very nice and helpful, head chef came and asked if everything was OK. Felt really chuffed. Easy bike parking and such a great location.

Our first visit here for the purpose of having a roast dinner. Friendly welcome and superb service throughout the meal. One of the most delicious and well presented meals we’ve had recently. Thoroughly recommend

If I could give 10 stars out of 5 I would! By far our favourite meal in woolacombe! We had dinner here in june, and a few drinks in the outside area (a few times!) Prawns to start which were seriously maybe the best I have ever had :) Lobster was on the specials, and I was worried about how to eat it so I asked the friendly waiter who assured me the staff would help if I got stuck! The lobster was beautiful and although I didn't actually need help the wonderful people working there checked in with me :) My friends meals were also excellent! Drinks outside also recommended; amazing views:)
Sarah F — Google review
Absolutely delicious food! Great service, newly refurbed, relaxing music, beautiful views, friendly staff. What more can you ask for? Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. 😊👌
Kathy E — Google review
So just made a phone call to the tides in regards to me asking if we could book a table! The gentleman on the phone was rude and made me feel very uncomfortable !! I understand people are busy and yes no tables but basically rude and put the phone down on me before I could even say anything. It’s a shame because the reviews on the food look very good but I definitely won’t be visiting .

Captain Jacks Bar, Restaurant & Beer Garden is a delightful spot that perfectly blends good food, quality drinks, and a vibrant music scene. Nestled in the oldest building of Woolacombe, this charming venue has a rich history as a former pirate haunt. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it an ideal place for both humans and their furry friends thanks to its dog-friendly policy.
There is seating inside and out. Most people were sitting outside as the weather was good. If you go round the back there are toilets with 1 step up, the width of the toilet is the width of the door. There could be more toilets, not sure where. The meals we had were hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a small car park at the rear.
Sharon N — Google review
It was quiet when we went in so we could choose our table. Staff were friendly. We ordered the sharing fish platter and were told it would be 20-30 mins, which it was. It was served with good, hot chips, nice dips and a good salad. The fish itself was beautifully cooked. What prevented top marks was that every piece of seafood or fish, except one butterfly prawn, was covered in batter or breadcrumbs, which made it too same-y and dull. If some pieces were served as just cooked fish, this dish would be elevated.
Heather F — Google review
Nice big place, food wasn't as good as I thought it maybe. Starters seemed to be in my opinion to be microwaved. Steamed gyoza shouldn't have crispy edges. Chips were good.
Jeff P — Google review
Really nice pub for a post surf pint. Food looked great but never got around to trying it
John C — Google review
Absolutely love it. Walked in the door and asked for a " Hunters chicken ", as advertised on the window outside. And" Joe" the barmaid got it sorted for me and a curry for the other half. And a lovely pint of " Mena du" into the bargain. Worth every penny. Will definitely be back and looking at booking a room at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel next year.. a beautiful little town/ village. Fantastic beach ( spent an hour just watching the surfers in the surf ). All in all... an excellent visit.
Antony N — Google review
My favourite bar ever! It hasn't changed since the 90's ...just love the vibe. If you come to Woolacombe then you simply have to have a drink and some food here. Shoot some pool, tunes on the juke box, cosy, chilled and wonderful!
IDRONE 7 — Google review
Typical holiday beach pub but well worth a visit . Friendly and very nice staff. On our visit the barman had to cook and was flying solo ,he earns his wings !! Only 4 burgers but All well cooked and piping hot, nice big bit of stilton on top , shame never got his name but we'll done ✅👍. Only complaint was chips a bit crunchy . Plenty of seating and toilets nice and clean. Will be going back that's for sure .

This is a very nice village pub with nice food. I went with Scampi, a tiny bit over cooked but very nice. So much Tartare sauce that made dipping my chips into, a joy. My good lady had steak and ale pie. She thought it was amazing. You can't fault the service or the very reasonable prices. I am back in the area again. very soon, so will definitely be back.
Tom S — Google review
A beautiful little pub in a really nice setting. We had such a lovely welcome by the chap serving. He was so helpful and made us feel really at home. My partners meal was good, sadly mine lacked flavour. It should have been prawn linguine. It tasted like pasta with a tin of tomato soup poured on and some prawns chucked in. As a result I'm not convinced I'd eat there again, but I'd certainly be happy to call in for a few drinks.
Stimpy G — Google review
We ate here on a surprisingly quiet Saturday lunchtime in October 2025. Yes, the weather was a bit windy but we have eaten here many times and never seen it so quiet. We enjoyed the food and sat at table 14 inside which afforded a view across gardens to the sea in the distance (see photo). We enjoyed the lasagne and particularly the ploughman’s. Short walk across 2 fields to Twitchen House Holiday Park and just a few minutes detour from Morte Point and the coast path. Definitely recommended
Pete L — Google review
One of the worst experiences I've ever had! Extremely arrogant staff, especially the bar owner! He was aggressive towards my family! A place I would never go back to! I love Woolacombe, but this place really denigrates the town! What I liked most about the pub was the time to leave! See you never again!
Marcelle A — Google review
Fantastic little pub in Woolacombe, superb service and has a very warm feeling as you arrive , the carvery is exceptional too great seasoning on the roasties and the beef is cooked to perfection , for £14 this carvery is well worth it !!! And would happily to pay more for the quality of food and service you receive
Stew A — Google review
Great pub, allows dogs, a nice country pub. The only problem is the food is a little limited on selecrion, I don't thing the menu has changed in many many years however the food is reasonable. Will be back soon next time I visit woolacombe
Phil S — Google review
Visited this place for a few years now not sure why. Wasn’t expecting to much but. The tables were sticky and still had crumbs all over. Went to sit on an alternate table but they were just as bad. The food wasn’t great below average for sure. After a busy summer rolling into September the bar staff should at least clean the tables after every service. We all agreed that we won’t be back again. Hope they learn from this review. X6 customers lost.

Brilliant, busy bank holiday weekend and nothing but smiles, polite, friendly service from everyone. Food was brilliant and just an all round good vibe to the place.

This has to be one of the best places to grab some food, or bask in the sun with a cold drink in Woolacombe. We have returned many times having tried most other local establishments. Bit of a wait for food when it’s busy, but the food was fantastic and reasonably priced given the location and situation. Really good vegan options and my wife still talks about the Thai curry. Also a great selection of interesting beers. Highly recommend.
Paul H — Google review
We were recommended this bar by a friend and in honesty I thought from the name it might be a bit young for us, however I couldn't have been more wrong. It is a bar for everyone, great food, great atmosphere and a good range of beers. I would recommend for everyone, it is dog friendly and has some amazing sunset views. Definitely recommend this to anyone!

The Red Barn is a family-friendly surfer bar and grill that offers comfort food and real ales, along with live music on Fridays. Despite its Australian-style surf shack beach bar vibe, it's a great spot for dog owners to enjoy drinks while soaking in the atmosphere of one of Britain's best surf spots. Located in the center of Woolacombe Bay, it serves as an excellent starting or finishing point for a scenic cliff-top trek out to Morte Point.
What an absolute delight! We visited this area last year and didn’t even notice this place in its old guise. What they’ve done with the place is exactly what was needed, we’ve been to a few of their pubs now and really rate them! Today, we already had dinner booked somewhere else for this evening however decided to stop by for a drink…. Then ordered nibbles, you know… to keep us going! Very, very tasty meatballs. A cracking place to meet with friends or just as a couple. A great vibe, next to a great beach! A big car park opposite and there’s a route in for wheelchair users or those not able to do steps. Toilets clean and in full working order. It was very busy but then it was a bank holiday Monday with moody weather, so maybe an idea to book if coming for food.
Gareth T — Google review
We had a 40 minute wait for food here on a busy and sunny evening. We decided to wait and enjoy the views whilst overlooking the sea and enjoying a refreshing drink. The food was well worth the wait, everything was well cooked, well presented and above all very tasty. I would recommend the Mac and cheese, I did add bacon, and my son devoured his beef burger and fries. The portion sizes were good and we all left feeling full after an energetic day of body boarding! The outdoor area was a hive of activity with plenty of people (and their pets) enjoying the sunny evening but the outdoor area didn't feel cramped or overly noisy.

Ate here in October 2025 and what a difference since the Hall & Woodhouse refurbishment from the Red Barn. It is now finally clean, welcoming and pleasant. Not the cheapest meal ever but good quality comfort pub food in nice cosy seating areas. Dog friendly area. You can order at the bar or using a QR code on each table. Very easy and recommended.

The Barn in Woolacombe has a fantastic location right next to the wide sandy beach—perfect for a relaxing meal with a view. The food was fresh and full of flavour; we had fish and chips, prawn cocktail, and finished with a delicious cinnamon cheesecake and coffee. The service was excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional. A great spot for both the food and the atmosphere!

Such an amazing place! We came to Woolacombe for the beach and saw this place on the front, so popped in for drinks, but ended up coming back later in the day for our lunch! The decor is stunning and the food absolutely amazing! Will definitely return next time we visit North Devon ❤️
Hannah — Google review
Definitely recommend this place. For starters the interior and atmosphere is everything you want when on holiday in Woolacombe. We normally don’t like going to the same place multiple times but we loved it so much here. To start with we got the calamari, which is arguably the tastiest calamari we have ever had. For mains we got the chilli and the H&W burger and we have no complaints for either. The chilli was clearly homemade, the rice was fluffy and the tortilla chips were a nice addition - guacamole and sour cream were also fresh and tasty. The H&W burger was top tier, all ingredients were fresh and the meat was absolutely delicious, fries were top dollar also. This was the best place we ate at our whole trip and also the cheapest!!
Lily C — Google review
On the hottest day if the year so far so lovely to get a table for al fresco dining with spectacular views of Woolacombe beach. Staff were extremely busy but still had a friendly smile. Great food and service , highly recommend.

Still a great place to chill after the beach! We had a little initial apprehension before our first visit after the renovation but we're incredibly pleased. The fresh new look still holds that surfer chill vibe but with a new up to date feel. The staff were excellent throughout being friendly and attentive even through the bust rush periods. The food was good and came in excellent time regardless of the business. Overall still a great place to grab some food and drinks after the beach and people watch for awhile, we will be back 😍

Disappointing experience at the Captains Table. Will start off by saying the staff were lovely so this rating is not towards them. It was unfortunately the food that let us down. I got scampi and chips, the scampi was nice although could tell it was frozen - the chips were very disappointing, they were quite undercooked and had a strange taste to them not over-ally awful - just disappointing for the price I paid. My partner got steak pie, potato’s & veg and this is where we really got let down. Every item on the plate was obviously frozen. The pie was tasty but the potato’s and veg were nothing short of horrendous. They were completely unseasoned and still raw. A very bland sad excuse of a meal. I wouldn’t normally leave a bad review for somewhere when it was simply disappointing but this meal was not cheap. It cost us £46 which i think is absurd for what was obviously frozen, cheap produce. This was our most expensive meal of our trip, there are much nicer and cheaper restaurants around - save yourself some money and disappointment and go elsewhere.
Lily C — Google review
I highly recommend this little restaurant right on the beach front. I had the seafood platter and enjoyed it very much. Amazing food, amazing views and great service. I was served by Elle, Abbie and Nigel, they were very helpful and polite and recommended some of their ciders although I went with a cold peach iced tea 😋. Will definitely be visiting again!

Beautifully decorated inside with a warm, welcoming feel. Friendly service, quick food, and a great latte. The outdoor tables come with lovely views too—definitely worth grabbing a seat out there.

Busy morning but only had a short wait to be seated. Looked understaffed as staff looked stressed. We were seated upstairs, next to the window with the view of dog poo on the outside area, not very nice when you’re eating. Ordered our drinks to be told we couldn’t order food yet. Our drinks arrived and so we asked if we could order food yet, the girl had to find someone to take our order yet could take an order from the table behind us. Food ordered, long wait. Been here lots of times and usually really good, so disappointed. Food tasted great.

Having been passed on a number of occasions, we finally found a table free outside. Sammy our dog tucked nicely under the table, we both had a drink and we shared a Seaford platter. It was great.

Nestled in the charming coastal village of Mortehoe, The Beachcomber Cafe is a delightful spot that captures the essence of seaside dining. With its inviting terrace offering stunning views of the sandy shores, it’s an ideal place to unwind after a day filled with beach activities like surfing and hiking along the picturesque South West Coastal Path.
One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time! We had the Large Devon Breakfast, everything was cooked perfectly, drinks were great and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend coming early and grabbing a table!

A good strong cappuccino. Friendly welcome by staff, even for our wet and bedraggled dogs. Both breads were very fresh. Tasty tuna melt. Homemade curried lentil soup perfect on a drizzly February day!

Absolutely love the beachcomber cafe - it’s always a go-to whenever we are in Devon. It can be difficult to get a table so just be wary of that if you are really hungry!! We were sat near the door and lots of people were queuing to get a table which wasn’t the best atmosphere but in the end they were told to queue outside which made a big difference. Food here is super yummy and at a very decent price - so much variety for all different diet types!

Stayed in Mortehoe for the week off peak popped into the beachcomber for food as most places was shut for winter. Food first class one of our party had gluten free cream team it was first class. Great food great view over the beach and sea. Staff polite and very attentive. This is a little gem in Woolacombe and a credit to the owners. Will definitely be back. Dog friendly as well.

Me and my wife came here for lunch and all I can say is PERFECTION!!! I had the crab sandwich. The crab is locally caught and was full of delicious crabmeat. Not sickly! Certainly one of my favourite food venues anywhere! The food is sublime, the juices are amazing, the location is fantastic and the staff are always so lovely. Great work! So we had lunch for £30. We were full and didn't have to dress up....drink alcohol..get a taxi...blah blah.Evening meals can do one! It's our new going out....doing lunch!!!...and much cheaper!

OMG, amazing find! We live in North Devon, we are always on the beach or in the sea at Woolacombe, and this is the first time we've been in. Such a lovely atmosphere and the food and drinks are so good, the whole family commented on how amazing their brunch was. Very friendly staff, so relaxed. Beautiful start to my wife's birthday. Thank you!

Just stopped here for a bite to eat as literally next to the beach. Had some cream and jam scones along with fresh crab and salad and also the crayfish baguettes with salad too. Everything was freshly made including our 2 smoothies. When we come back to this lovely seaside town, we'll be back to have another lovely special.

With its stunning views of the beach and dunes, this charming spot offers an array of fresh sandwiches and homemade cakes that are perfect for refueling after a scenic walk. Whether you choose to sit indoors or bask in the sun outside, you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramas.
What a fantastic little find. We have been to Woolacombe many times but never ventured this far around the bay. We spotted a sign on the corner by the beach and decided to have a little wander and seek it out. We are so glad we did! Food is amazing, homemade and a some great options for a family of foodies (and one beige eater). Service was great and we felt really welcome, even with our little needy dog. We sat upstairs and the views around the bay were outstanding.

A small but great little cafe with outdoor seats that have a fantastic view of the whole of Woolacombe beach. There is only a counter downstairs and a small number of seats upstairs. Great cakes too, and some impressive looking sandwiches and scotch eggs.

A lovely and welcoming cafe overlooking Woolacombe bay with a wide range of home made sweet and savoury treats alongside hot and cold drinks, local ciders and ales, ice creams and lollies. After a super-hot hike to Putsborough and back, the ice-cold vanilla milk with a scoop of ice cream was just what I needed - cooling and refreshing - whilst the tasty courgette and pistachio cake helped to refuel. Beautiful views - what’s not to love 👌

Great little cafe serving nice coffee and tasty treats. It also overlooks the beach and you can park right by it. Fantastic. If you ride, go there and grab a coffee, take a seat and enjoy the view.

Delicious food and beautiful views!! All the food looked delicious and plenty of 🌱 options if that’s your thing! So many choices and what we tried was amazing! I’m sure we will be back for more

Delicious Pakora wrap, sausage roll, and carrot cake! What a stunning view as well. Food quality and service was great. The seating area offers the ideal location to watch the waves lapping on the shore. Looking to visit again very soon!

Wow what a location! With amazing food and coffee and the friendliest staff ever. Salted caramel cookie was spot on perfect! We tell everyone about you.

A fantastic place to stop on a walk around the trails or beach. Sat down at one of the outside tables, taking in the wonderful view across the bay. Special shout out to the cheese and tomato chutney rolls, best I have ever tasted! Parking nearby is fine if needed since the Marina Drive car park stretches the full length of the road and this cafe is some way along it.

The views are amazing from the duel aspect windows and multiple balconies (4 Sunnycliffe). Cottage is very spacious, clean, 3 bathrooms, 2 double bedrooms and a twin. Kitchen has all you need. Parking is tight but manageable. Steep steps up to the entrance. Hosts are great and communicative. Walk into Woolacombe is 15 min. Other lovely walks direct from the cottage are worth the effort.
