Overrated, unwelcoming, and not worth the visit. I really didn’t enjoy this place, mostly because of the unfriendly staff. From the moment I walked in, I felt looked down upon—like they were doing me a favor by serving me. That attitude stayed with me even as I ate a pistachio éclair, which was actually quite nice. Not exceptional, but tasty and well-made. The coffee, on the other hand, was truly terrible. The seating is uncomfortable—chairs you can’t even lean back in—and the entire sitting area was nearly empty, which isn’t surprising once you understand their strange system: if you want to sit down and eat your dessert, you pay a different price and go through a different process than if you take it to go or eat standing up. It felt needlessly complicated and unwelcoming. To be honest, the whole place felt like a tourist trap—pretentious, overpriced, and lacking in genuine charm or originality. I don’t recommend it.

I look for 2 things in an eatery - customer service and quality of food. I wasn’t served but my husband was. 🤷‍♀️Food was good and cheap. Custard slice €3. Focaccia with ham and cheese €3.50. Place is clean and big. Customer service does make the experience though. So… 3 stars.

Nice famous cafe in the midddle of historical Siena. Many kind of artistic cakes and cookies. Elegant ambient. The cafe sells also the Italian cookies speciality. The price is a bit expensive due the brand. From the famous owner Nannini family.

We had lots of gelato in Italy and I would say that this was good but not great. Most of the other gelaterias that we tried while in Italy were very good to phenomenal. GROM was just not the best gelato and the flavor choices were limited. It also is a chain which is not a detriment but compared to other chains, this was not up to par. Tasty, but I would suggest other stops while in Siena (Kopa Kabana, La Vecchia Latteria).

Quality, Quantity & Price: Hits all three We've learnt to seek out gelato shops that keep their ice cream tubs covered (as a sign of better quality), and GROM checks the box. Amongst the three of us, we took coffee, vegan pistachio, chocolate hazelnut, hazelnut, and peach for a total of €13.50. All very good! To top it off, the staff was patient and helpful enough even though we couldn't speak Italian. 🥰

Thank goodness for gluten free cones! I was able to indulge with gelato breaks as we walked 1000s of steps around Siena, we even walked here for a break between the various Duomo buildings (cathedral and museo). We did try the fun cones, chocolate covered with chocolate chunks and one with chocolate covered with nuts. Ultimately, we returned to the normal cone with a mix of refreshing gelato flavors.

This is one of the best gelato places I've visited in Italy. This is the second time I've been. First time was 3 years ago. Last time I had this divine raspberry flavour. And this time the strawberry blew me away. Incredible!

LOVE IT! Nothing like old school and good ole gelato. We had the caramel, pistachio and nocciola scoops. Amazing texture, sweetness and that right tinge of saltiness (for the pistachio). So nice and creamy. I wish I could have them continuously but my pants won’t approve :) !

Great gelato but beware! If you ask for pistachio make sure you indicate which one you want. The young lady dipped the “tourist” pistachio without asking me first and I had to pay for new scoops of what I wanted all along!! I went back and unbeknownst to me as a tourist there are two different ice creams: pistachio and pistaciosa. Another woman corrected the situation and gave my wife an ice creams to make up for second one I paid for, alls well that ends well!

Gelateria #9 this trip to Italy. This place is GREAT! Walked past it the first day in Siena because the name of the shop made me doubt their quality. But after reading prior reviews I had to check it out for myself. Glad I did. Outstanding! Creamy texture. Full flavors. Large portions. They also offer a bacci (chocolate covered vanilla ice cream lips), found in the display with the cakes. For those who like to try something new, they offer a handful of interesting flavors. I like a shop that is willing to take a risk offering novel flavors. But if you prefer the standards (vanilla, chocolate, pistachio…) they got those as well. Score 95/100 Highly recommend! I’m going to go back while still in Siena.

Stayed in Siena for four weeks, kept coming back to Kopakabana for more. This place serves the best selection of gelato I've ever seen, and the pricing is excellent. Workers are also incredibly friendly! A trip to Siena is incomplete without coming here AT LEAST once.

From our experience it’s the best pasticceria in Siena. We had a sweet day eating cakes at different places, also at the oldest one - Nannini (at two different spots) and non of them is even close to Buti. The quality as well as the service and prices are just great. Grazie!

This pastry shop is centrally located and close to the Campo. There is a sign outside which invites you to explore the shop to taste the huge variety of pastries , panforte and cookies. The variety is staggering , different colours, flavours and pastry which is specifically Sienese. I highly recommend it.

We also tried sorbets: mango and strawberry were alright, not really recommended. They were a bit too sweet. The price is quite high but the cone was nice and you get huge portion.

Very good gelato! We always try dark chocolate and pistachio gelato wherever we go, and this place nailed both! The dark chocolate is smooth and intense, and the pistachio tasted rich and had a lot of flavour. We also tried another nut flavour (don’t remember the name), very good, but do go for dark chocolate and pistachio if you like these flavours. One of the best gelato spots we’ve been to!

Ok, so the gelato was quite good. I had blackberry and it was tart and fruity. The rest of the family also seemed to enjoy theirs - coffee and cookies. However, they don’t show a visible price list and I paid €15 for three of the smallest cones. Staff were pleasant enough, but not overly, and I think they take advantage of their location being next to the Piazza. As I walked away, I couldn’t help but think that I had just been caught by the tourist tax. Should have looked at the reviews before I went in and selected an alternative.
