Ice cream shop
Gelateria De' Coltelli, located in Pisa, is a popular spot among locals for its delicious gelato. The De Coltelli family has a long history in ice cream making, dating back to the 17th century. They take pride in using fresh seasonal fruits and natural ingredients sourced from the surrounding region to create their hand-crafted gelato. All their flavors and cones are gluten-free, making it a safe option for those with celiac disease.
Absolutely worth a stop! The gelato at Gelateria De’ Coltelli is genuinely excellent – creamy texture, rich flavour. There’s a great selection of both classic and unique flavors, and when we went, there was no line at all. Service was quick, and the prices were very reasonable compared to other artisanal gelato spots in Italy. The place itself has a bit of history – it’s known as one of the first gelaterias in Italy to focus on organic, natural ingredients and traditional methods. Founded in the early 2000s, it helped kick off the “slow gelato” movement, and you can taste the difference. If you’re walking along the Arno in Pisa, don’t miss this gem. Simple, honest, and delicious.
Tommy N — Google review
The pistachio ice cream? Absolute perfection—creamy, rich, and full of real nutty flavor that makes you question every pistachio gelato you’ve had before. The maron (chestnut) flavor, on the other hand, felt like it got lost somewhere between concept and cone—underwhelming and kind of forgettable. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but honestly, I’d still come back for that pistachio alone. It’s that good. Just maybe skip the chestnut detour
Floww — Google review
This is my favorite granita I have ever tasted. Every time I’m close or pass through Pisa, I go back for a treat. Sweet, flavorful and natural, you can really taste the fruits. Ice creams are also great.
Melanie O — Google review
Probably the best icecream in Tuscany. Actually scratch that, probably the best icecream I've ever had (and I eat a lot of icecream). Words won't do it justice, go there and have a try, all flavours are just so good!
Cosmin I — Google review
Great little place to find a unique selection of gelatos. They have some of the regular flavors you would expect, but they also push the boundaries with some really cool offerings. Give them a try!
Jason B — Google review
Really enjoyed this ice cream spot — it’s a proper gelateria with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I tried the olive oil ice cream, which was interesting but a bit too strong in flavor for me. The pistachio was smooth and tasty (though I did miss the crunch of real nuts), and the fig slushie was excellent. Overall, not the absolute best ice cream I’ve ever had, but still really, really good. Definitely worth 5 stars.
Jean C — Google review
You know how sometimes you’ll read the one and two star reviews of a place and you’ll find something along the lines of “I don’t know how this place gets such high ratings!”? Well, in the case of Gelateria De’ Coltelli my wife and I can’t figure how this place can get any LOW ratings! 🤔 We’ve been to many of the major regions and cities in Italy, and have tried the gelaterias wherever we go. This is by far one of the best we have ever been to. If all people are used to is gelato with the standard overdose of fat, sugar, and concentrated flavor - and consider that “the best”, then you may not appreciate what you’d taste here. The flavors are sometimes subtle, but they are always natural and (for us) have a lovely balance of being refreshing and creamy. We’ve been here three times (so far!) and tried 6 of the flavors they have. There’s something unique and wonderful about all of them, but as a caution you shouldn’t necessarily combine any flavor with any other flavor or you might lose the essence of one over the other. You might not want to, for example, mix plum with blueberry (we didn’t, as the nice young lady behind the counter let me try two flavors when I asked which would go better with plum)! 😄 I don’t see this as a negative, as you can get your everyday supersaturated technicolor flavors* at any of a number of other gelaterias in Pisa (which we’ve tried - some rated higher than this place but having the standard assembly line flavors). Go here if you want a more out of the ordinary - and tasty - gelato. Additionally, at all times we’ve been treated very nicely by three different young ladies for each of visits. *(Now having said this, my wife and I have also had wonderful, more classic heavier cream and sugar gelatos in Italy and elsewhere. Hey, if they’re good, they’re good. But Gelateria De’ Coltelli does it their way, and their way is very good and a bit more unique!)

Really great ice cream. I know there’s a hype- but this gelato keeping up with the expectations. Especially liked the peanuts flavor.

Located just a ten-minute walk from Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, La Bottega del Gelato is a simple and traditional gelateria on Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi 11. Unlike upscale places, this spot offers outdoor seating and an array of flavors displayed at the counter. Their cocoa is dairy-free, and fruit flavors are free from artificial coloring. It's praised for its friendly service and reasonable prices.
Had a fantastic gelato experience in Pisa today! Despite the long line, the wait was definitely worth it. I tried four different flavors, and the pistachio was absolutely outstanding – incredibly rich and authentic. It was easily the highlight! The service was efficient, even with how busy it was. If you're in Pisa and looking for authentic, high-quality gelato, I highly recommend checking this place out. You won't be disappointed!
Yecheng S — Google review
One of the best gelato I have ever had. Just wow. It was recommended to me by a local. I wish if could have tried more flavours. I had mango and pistachio and it was so tasty. Specially the pistachio ice cream was super tasty. If you are in Pisa, this gelato bar should be on your list.
Faisal N — Google review
Most wonderful ice cream made with fresh ingredients and the correct technique. Enjoy some of the greatest gelato you can find anywhere. They also offer mousses, which you can combine with the ice cream for an even better treat. This is a must go in Pisa!
Titus N — Google review
I've read is the best ice cream and honestly i was a bit sceptic and thought i'ts just a tourist trap but ice cream is amazing. Could be the best i've ever tried. So creamy. Yumm. Today i tried mango. Will come back tomorrow. Came back and tried lemon and pistachio. Lemon is just perfect in hot day like today.

An amazing historical spot — the oldest gelateria in Pisa! There’s always a line, and it’s easy to see why. This is the best ice cream I’ve ever had — and I’ve tried a lot! A huge variety of flavors for every taste. If you’re in Pisa, don’t hesitate to spend some time (and money) to try this gelato. I’ll definitely come back here if I ever visit Pisa again. Highly recommended!
Ksenia T — Google review
This was the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. I kept going back to try more flavors. Great portions, great prices, friendly staff

A must visit in Pisa if you want to take a break from walking and enjoy a delicious ice cream. Many flavors to pick from. The line might be long at times but moves on fast and the space to sit is a bit limited but totally worth the visit!
Odysseas P — Google review
The line was very long for this place, but it moved pretty quickly, which we appreciated whilst standing in the hot sun. You could tell it was full of tourists like us, but the quality of the gelato was definitely worth it! I would definitely return here!

Delicious, natural-tasting ice cream! We tried 4 refreshing sorbets — all bursting with real fruit flavor and no artificial aftertaste. Then we had the creamy pistachio, which was so rich and smooth we couldn’t resist. Truly top quality and unforgettable taste!

This is by far one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had in my life. Each flavour is unique and well balanced and the texture is wonderful. The basmati rice flavour in particular blew me away! I caught Andreas at the end of a long day and the chat + ice cream really brightened up my evening. Make sure to go here for the best ice cream and best service 🙌🏽

What can I say? The gelato may be the nicest I’ve ever had. I ordered one scoop of stracciatella and one nocciola, and it was beyond delicious. Creamy, tasty, fresh and with quality ingredients. The owner was also really, really lovely. Everything is handmade with love, and you can tell. You’d struggle to find a better gelato spot than this anywhere 🍦♥️ *edit* today I went back because, of course 😂😂 I tried the peanut butter and chocolate and it was even BETTER. Couldn’t be happier with my frozen dessert experiences

We had the chance to be served by Andre who was very kind and welcoming. We tried the basmati rice, yogurt and ricotta with blueberries which was absolutely amazing! We even got whipped cream and a biscuit for it. Absolutely delicious experience! Highly recommend. ✨✨

Ristorante La Scaletta is a seafood restaurant located in the heart of Pisa. The chef patron, Dino Ricci, is passionate about food and loves to experiment with new recipes. The restaurant has been serving fresh seafood dishes for more than 150 years and is known for its innovative twists on classic preparations.
It's my best place in Pisa. You pay more than usual, but you get a quality and a service that has no pair in the nearby. Crudités are top notch, so are the other dishes. Will recommend to everybody

Great food, good service. Portions are on the slightly smaller side, but everything tastes delicious and the wait staff are lovely. Nice spot for a date or for a quiet dinner with friends away from the more tourist-filled centre.
Oreoluwa G — Google review
I went here with my best-friend on our little trip through Tuscany. The restaurant is really stylish, but in my opinion a bit too minimalistic. They received us with a glass of Blanc de Blancs: delicious! And very kind of course They have a really nice menu with super fresh ingredients. For starter we had a fresh raw fish plate and 3 different fish tartare plate : both of high quality but I'm not very keen of fruit with my dish, which the tartare all had. Afterwords we had spaghetti with blu lobster and shellfish sauce ( suuuuper nice ) and a kind of ravioli filled with octopus and a local red shrimp sauce ( also excellent ). Nice wine menu and the overall experience was great! Grazie!

Visitors can enjoy specialty coffees such as Bicertin and Salsa caffe while admiring the old prints of Pisa in the internal tea room.
I truly recommend this place for breakfast !!❤️ the service was amazing. I went there with my cousin and sister 3 days in a row, and each time we got a different latte art on our cappucinos ☕️. We tried their croissants and sandwiches, both of which were very delicious.

Salza is a world class cafe and bakery. To top it off, their prices are incredibly affordable, especially in comparison to what you'll see in Florence. This place is a MUST when visiting Pisa. I visited twice during my 5 hour stay in the city.

Ristoro Dantesca is a cozy restaurant located in Piazza Dante, offering friendly service and a variety of vegan options for every course, including appetizers, mains, and sometimes even desserts. The menu clearly indicates vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes. Situated near a small park, the restaurant provides an air-conditioned outdoor dining area where guests can enjoy their meals. Visitors were pleasantly surprised by the high-quality vegan offerings in this tourist hotspot and praised the impeccable service and delicious pizzas.
We were randomly looking for a restaurant when we ran across Dantesca walking around. We had the lasagna, primavera pizza, seafood rigatoni and vegetable medley. We highly recommend all we ordered. We sat outside and not even sure they have an inside area but they have out side AC which always feels like a cool evening breeze even though it was high heat of the day. It’s right next to the famous panini shop which I am sure it’s nice given the crowd but definitely we made the right choice with Dantesca!

The best vegan food in Pisa! Amazing! The sharing cheese board and honey is so good. The pizzas are really luxurious and they add plenty of toppings. I’ve been twice and still been unable to finish a whole one 😂 Service is friendly and helpful and the location is 5 mins away from the tower so you get a breather from the crowds as well. Highly recommend, thank you for the great, imaginative vegan food.
Matt W — Google review
Vegan cheese board was delicious! Nice variety of cheeses and fruit and (vegan) honey, so good. We also tried the two vegan pizzas, both very good. Stand out was the gorgonzola and sausage (all vegan) pizza. Seriously the best pizza we tried in Italy. Lovely dining experience sitting outdoors near the public park. Good selection of local wines. Highly recommended if you are looking for gourmet vegan food. 10/10

Stopped at this random restaurant for lunch near the university and parking lot. Pasta was decent, had the pasta ragu toscani and Vongole - both great. Ordered the seafood soup although it wasn’t very soupy, more like a seafood platter. Lunch took relatively long to serve but was a beautiful day out. Food is decent but not mind blowing

Wonderful dining experience! Staff were so lovely and the food was delicious. The vegan sausage and gorgonzola pizza was probably my favourite thing I ate in all of Italy! Highly, highly recommend!

We tried two vegan pizzas and they were delicious! The combination of ingredients was truly original, and both pizzas were generously topped. We’d definitely recommend this place even to non-vegans. Very nice owner and location. The pizzas in the photo are: sausage/gorgonzola, tuna/mozzarella/onions/olives.

Tagliata di manzo was very, very tough and chewy. Almost felt like i need a nap after hard chewing. 🤣 Deffinetely the worst steak i ever had. Potatoes tastes good. I got my salad when i almost done with meat and potatoes. So i just left it. Strawberry spritz was very good
Kristine V — Google review
Very disappointing experience. What was listed as a €13 “secondo piatto” turned out to be nothing more than a small puff pastry—something you could find in any bakery in Pisa and tastier. For a restaurant that claims to serve proper main dishes, this was a real letdown. Definitely not worth the price.

Pasticceria Dolce Pisa is a charming Italian bakery offering an authentic breakfast experience. The traditional front and outdoor seating provide a lovely setting to enjoy a variety of pastries, sweet treats, cannolis, croissants, and cornettos. Located near the Pisa leaning tower site, it's a perfect spot to escape the crowds and indulge in some delicious vegan and gluten-free options alongside a cup of coffee.
In September 2024, Robert and I visited the beautiful town of Pisa in Tuscany to celebrate our anniversary. We came across this lovely little café near the Leaning Tower and stopped by every morning for breakfast. The pastries were fresh and delicious, and the weather couldn’t have been better. Sitting outside, enjoying our food while people-watching, was such a treat. Pisa, you were amazing – thank you for the beautiful memories!

A cozy café with great quality sweets and coffee at a very reasonable price. The staff are always nice and friendly, which makes you want to come back. It’s in a good location, easy to reach, but keep in mind the space is small—there are just a few seats inside and some outside. Still, it’s perfect for a quick break or a relaxing coffee if you find a spot. Highly recommended!
PegiTa ( — Google review
Close enough to leaning tower. Reviews are not very good but I am happy. Food was good, tasty. I got tiramisu which in this case looks different to the previous photos uploaded. Very good, smooth, tasty, melted. Delicious. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that I wanted a natural juice they had in their menu and, in November, they told me they didn’t have because it is cold now. Fine in general. A bit pricey. Very quick attendance. Clean place.
Oscar H — Google review
While having ”gluten free option ” in the name of the cafe, the options are few. You would think they’d have a lot but it’s just one egg sandwich and some croissants (at the time I was there). So don’t be like me and expect a lot
Tindra27a — Google review
Staff was friendly. My sandwich was fresh. nine euros in total.
Sarcopolo — Google review
There are a bunch of reviews already that speak to empty cases for gluten free options. I'll add my own picture here taken at 7:15am. So, here's the thing. I understand getting to a bakery later in the day and not seeing much - especially for gluten free options. They're expensive, more labor intensive, and the demand is just a fraction of normal demand. Knowing this, we scouted the place a few days ago and found a nearly empty case. No problem, it was a scouting visit. We asked the staff there if more options were available the next day. He told us to get there right at the opening to ensure we'd have our pick. OK, that makes sense. Then we went at 7:15 - actually waiting for the gate to be lifted while the workers were setting up tables / filling cases. There was only what you see in my photo: full cases of gluten containing foods, and a few sad leftovers from prior days (plural) that clearly aren't moving. That brings me to the next thing. If you look at the label, it contains: E471 Mono-/diglycerides Emulsifier Can be animal or plant origin E330 Citric acid Acidulant, antioxidant Usually safe, but industrial E202 Potassium sorbate Preservative Very low toxicity E160b Annatto Natural coloring Rare allergic reactions So... these are not made fresh. Don't expect them to be. You will, however, pay a premium price for it. I asked the staff why the case was empty and the story changed. Now, apparently, you're supposed to come in at 10am, not 7:30am. OK. Basically, if you come here you are taking your chances on if there will be anything at all. You have no idea if anything was made fresh. You will, however, pay a lot for it. I just can't endorse this place when compared to other bakeries we have encountered in Italy.
André C — Google review

Gelateria Artigianale Rufus, located in Piazza Martiri della Liberta, is renowned for its high-quality and fresh gelato. The flavors are made with natural ingredients and include vegan options. Customers rave about the pistachio and gianduia flavors. The shop offers a wide variety of unique flavors that change seasonally alongside classic ones. In the summer, it stays open until midnight, allowing visitors to enjoy their delicious gelato late into the evening.
Listen, we had a nice dinner and just needed a little sweet treat. While all the other gelado places had closed we ended up at Rufus. We thought the name was cheeky and cute. The store itself is cute, has tons of gelado flavors, and was clearly listed with prices and flavors. The staff was super friendly, the one girl working was nice enough to let us sample Rufus’ flavor, which was yummy! The gelado itself was super creamy and cool, the flavor was there and fresh. The cone was super good, and almost had a sweet vanilla type flavor. We ate the entire gelado. Overall, the gelado was superb and we would’ve been back had we been staying in the area. Don’t forget to ask the story of Rufus the cat! :)

While strolling through Pisa, we came across Gelateria Rufus in a quiet spot across from a park, a true hidden gem. Inside, we found a well-curated selection of flavors, both milk- and water-based. What I particularly appreciated was the flexibility in portioning: you can mix three flavors in one cup, regardless of the size you choose. Naturally, I took full advantage and tried five different flavors in total. All of them were delicious, but the standout was without question the chocolate, incredibly creamy, rich, and full of flavor. An absolute favorite and a must-try if you’re nearby. Highly recommended.

One of two really top quality/rated gelaterias in town, wins by being open even in February. Solid taste options and quality ingredients, paired with a good civic mindset. Big park nearby to facilitate your strolling but also some seats
Scott N — Google review
We went to this place, very randomly for our daily gelato. We went for the basic flavors : pistachio and white chocolate. …Mamma mia. It was the creamiest, smoothest, most intensely flavored gelato I have ever had in my life. Every bite felt like I was experiencing it for the first time. Now, I am no gelato connoisseur, but I trust my flavor buds, and my flavor buds were telling me to sell my house, use the money to buy the biggest diamond ring and marry my cup of gelato. 100% this place will see me everyday for the rest of my trip. It is the best in Pisa, and I will remember this heavenly experience forever.

Amazing flavors, nice outdoor seating area.

Strange… really good flavours like rosehip-sage-lemon or chocolate-orange but in pear-chocolate or ordinary straciatella you’ll find not even one piece of chocolate… What went wrong in the making process? For this quality of ice cream this was quite surprising and disappointing. ——— Reply to owner Giulia: Thanks for your message. My review is 100% genuine and with nuance. I guess you should consider training your working girls better… We went back to them immediately when we noticed there was no chocolate, and they answered : « oh but that’s impossible, you must be mistaking, there must be chocolate in it. In any case we don’t make the ice… » I was surprised by their answer, not spontaneously proposing a solution. In any case, the other flavours were really absolutely great. Ciao.

Located next to the previously mentioned pizzeria, Pizzeria NIKA is a casual and welcoming establishment. They specialize in delicious Pizza Pisana, which is both fried and baked in a pan. Additionally, their gluten-free pizza option is also quite tasty. On the popular San Ranieri night in Pisa, finding a table can be challenging, but luckily our Canadian visitors were able to secure one at Pizzeria NIKA thanks to their local friend.
A great spot for pizza and beer. This is located a short walk away from the main attractions, and offers fresh handmade pizza. There’s numerous gluten free options, including beer. The pizza is fresh and flavourful, with MANY options to choose from

Good for a quick, cheap bite. Friendly and welcoming service. The pizza is ok, but not great. Fast delivery.

I had the gorgonzola, walnut cream and prosciutto with added boar salami and it was fantastic. Excellent prices, good and friendly service and had a local feel to it, even though they had an English version of the menu, which was very handy. Loads of choice and I couldn't fault it. A loaded pizza, a can of coke, plus cover, for about €12. You can't go wrong, would definitely recommend it.

Pizza night on San Ranieri in Pisa makes it hard to find a table, but we found one at "Pizzeria Nika". My husband and I were visiting from Canada and our host, my best friend from Pisa took us there. Among the crowd we were able to be seated. Even though the place was packed but they managed to serve us quite fast. The pizza, gluten free because our friend has celiac disease, was delicious and huge. A great dinner before walking to see "La Luminara". Thank you

Grano Libero Ristorante senza Glutine is a 100% gluten-free restaurant offering a wide variety of delicious dishes. The platter for two was generous, and the boar pasta was a hit, but the real star was the cheesecake. While the service was not overly friendly, the outdoor seating on a quiet street provided a pleasant dining experience.
We had a BREAD starter. One of the best gluten-free antipasto we've ever had. We both had lovely main meals, my burger was great, chips were crispy hot and rustic style. The portions were large and left with a very full tummy! Probably going to go back there tomorrow.

One of the best gastronomy experiences in Italy. We came because of one family member with celiac problem. Our expectations were not high because gluten free meals are difficult to master. Food, kindness and friendlyness of staff are hard to descibe. Bruschette, steak and focaccia are my recommendation. Reservation is a good idea.

This place is something special. The team is on a mission to make dining feel normal for people with celiac disease. I dined here twice during my trip and took bread home. The bread is amazing!!! I cannot stop thinking about it. Service is outstanding, as is the bruschetta! Agatha went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience.

Visited here on a recent trip to Pisa - and it was great. We were given a bag of bread which I think was the best GF bread I’ve ever had. We had a pasta dish each from the really extensive menu and they were really good. We then shared the beef which was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we’ll definitely visit next time we’re in Pisa.

This is the first fully gluten free restaurant I’ve ever been to, I was in heaven! The bread was so light and fluffy and I would highly recommend the “Tasty” focaccia sandwich it was incredible! We even got another one to take away. We also tried the pasta and the tiramisu both of which were good.

Moreover, the tiramisu proved to be a delectable treat like no other, surpassing any previous culinary experiences.

Visited here on a recent trip to Pisa. It’s a bit out of the town centre but is worth the trip. The choice was overwhelming - I’m used to just a couple of GF options but here there were entire cabinets of various pastries and cakes and cookies - as well as savoury options. I ordered a selection of pastries and they were great - and surprisingly good value. I also took a savoury pizza thing away which was very good a few hours later. Definitely worth the trip if you want a GF croissant - just next time I’ll look into a bus to save the walk.

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Pisa, make sure to stop by Bombolò Pisa for a delightful treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth. This spot is renowned for its traditional filled pastries, reminiscent of soft brioche rolls, and they serve them warm—perfect alongside a cup of coffee or as an indulgent dessert after dinner. The selection is impressive, featuring flavors like Nutella, apricot, pistachio, and even kinder bueno!
Astonishingly PHENOMENAL bombolini! Served fresh and warm with delicious fillings - my personal favourite with mascarpone - purely incredible and at a really good price. Additionaly such a nice and kind owner who was serving us! Definitely you have to this place if you are looking for some sweet elation i Piza🤤

These are the BEST doughnuts I’ve ever had! So affordable too. Great choice of toppings, filled fresh in front of you, staff was nice and friendly, they are so delicious I would recommend highly. I visited in April 2025.
Kellie F — Google review
Donuts here are just amazing. Only €2.50 each, freshly made right in front of you with the filling of your choice. We went for mascarpone and Kinder Bueno — both were gooey, warm, and delicious. The donut itself is soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. At this price and quality, it’s pretty much unbeatable.

I love a late night doughnut shop, and this a great one! The bombolones are freshly baked, constantly, then tossed in sugar, sliced open and filled to order. They are outstanding! The softest I've ever eaten, quite sweet but not too much and with delicious fillings, a real treat. The plain ring is amazing, dulce de leche is sweet and indulgent. The lemon and orange add a lovely bit of tang but my favourite may be the happy hippo! A messy but delicious combination of crema and hazlenut flavours 😋 If I lived in Pisa, I would eat a lot of these bombolones 😃

I just loved these bombs! and Alejandro was so helpful! The Spot: It's a small spot, only for takeout. You can also enjoy your bimb at one of the chairs outside. The Bombs: They taste like a donut and are fresh, affordable, and really delicious. We ordered one stuffed with cream, and it was so good that we ordered two more to go—one with kinder and one with pistachio. The Service: Alejandro helped us choosing and recommending us flavors. He was extremely warm and kind. Parking: They don't have a dedicated lot, but you can find street parking nearby. Final Thoughts: I would definitely come back!

Last night we tried the donut shop just down from our accommodation, and it was fantastic. The donuts were affordable, light and non-greasy — honestly some of the best we’ve ever had.

Pasticceria La Petite offers a great selection of pastries and delicious coffee in an elegantly designed space. The interior is clean with ample seating, and there's also the option to sit outside near a park. While breakfast time can get crowded, the variety of pastries makes it worth it. The staff is friendly and the service is quick, although at times they only accept cash due to card machine issues.
The highlight of my trip to Pisa! Honestly, one of the best pastry shops I've ever been to. A delightful surprise (decided to see what the building was when walking past). The service was incredible, great selection of various pasties including interesting ones such as square croissants. Not too sweet either, just right, and everything was fresh / perfectly baked. Very reasonable prices, and they even sell amedi chocolates jn various sizes. Wish I wasn't just passing by and could visit again.

Nice cafe slightly outside the city centre with a huge offer of pastries (little vegan options, though, although the vegan croissant is nice). It can be quite busy, but service is fast (and all the staff are very friendly and professional). They have vegetable milk (soy), and the soy milk cappuccino is great.
Simone S — Google review
Well, yes, then. One star for charging us €9.90 for two coffees. Capuccino coffee costs 1.50 second Americano 1.30€, which gives a total of 2.80€, so where did it come from 9.90? The Lord at the cash register could have made a mistake, although there was no big move, but why did the waitress not stutter by giving a strange bill... Tourists can count, too. The second day we ordered coffee and two cookies. The cashier informed us that the waitress would give the order to the table, not stety waitress announced that she would not say that I should pick up the same ok it was not a problem, nerves began that after two minutes from the order I was told to look for a receipt for the order that was paid. More empathy and understanding for tourists was enough to make an exception and put the order to the table without nerves and looking for receipts. I know that you will not stand with the fly and tell how he thinks it was, but it was as I described it and not otherwise.

Great cappuccino that was just the right strength. Okay prices, clean interior, plenty of seating available. The croissant was still warm when I got it and was filled generously. The only downside is that it was highly chaotic (order everything at the till but before looking at the pastries, then choose and collect pastries in one place and collect cappuccino in another?), and we didn't understand how everything worked and since it was so busy/hectic and we didn't understand the concept, we ordered fewer pastries than we otherwise would have.

I was staying in Pisa with four friends. We are English, learning Italian. We had breakfast at this cafeteria every day. Our top marks go to Ricardo who gave the best service in all of the cafes and restaurants we visited in Tuscany. We are all senior citizens and he made us feel welcome and valued. He very quickly learned what we liked to order (his memory is phenomenal)He was respectful, professional and , importantly, a lot of fun, and this is why we kept returning to this cafe. I hope the management appreciate him!

Manzi, This coffee and pastry shop is truly one of the best in the area—and it’s no surprise it has won several awards. Everything we tried was phenomenal. 🍰☕️ VECCHIO – PASTICCERIA SICILIANA, A DIVINE DETOUR FROM DIRTY LAUNDRY ☕️🍰 Sometimes the universe rewards your most mundane errands with an act of divine intervention. Case in point: Vecchio – Pasticceria Siciliana, a glorious sugar-laced oasis I stumbled upon while dropping off my laundry. Little did I know I was about to trade detergent for decadence. Behind the modest signage lies a temple of Sicilian pastry wizardry where every item in the glass case looks like it was hand-sculpted by pastry angels. Cannoli? Transcendent. Stuffed with perfectly sweetened ricotta and kissed with candied fruit like it was blessed by a Palermo priest. Cassate Siciliane? So beautiful and delicate, I considered framing mine before devouring it. And don’t even get me started on the sfogliatella—those golden, flaky masterpieces whispering ancient secrets from Naples. And the coffee? Bellissimo. Smooth, rich, and served with that effortless Italian charm that somehow makes your laundry chores feel like a subplot in Call Me By Your Name. Vecchio doesn’t just serve pastries—it restores your faith in the little moments. I came in with a laundry bag and left with a full heart and powdered sugar on my soul. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you ever needed a reason to do your laundry—it’s this place.

Visitors praise the thick and creamy texture of the gelato as well as the friendly staff who are willing to accommodate non-Italian speakers. The prices are considered reasonable for the quality and quantity offered.
For being such a small place Pisa has a really high number of very good artisan gelato shops. This being absolutely one of them. I’m rarely able to enjoy hazelnut gelato as all too commonly now it is too chunky with huge bits, here it is beautifully smooth and you can get some of the best freshly whipped panna. Lovely friendly service also!

I Terroni is conveniently located along the Lungarno in the city center, making it easily accessible and a popular spot for visitors. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it offers great views of the area. The café serves delicious pastries and coffee, as well as a special daily lunch menu that varies. One of its standout features is its English-speaking staff, which appeals to international tourists.
Located at Lungarno (alongside the river) at the city centre (near Garibaldi statue, borgo stretto, and Corso Italia) make it easy to find and become the favourite place for hangout with great views. It provides indoor and outdoor seating. The pastries are good, the coffee are good, they also provide appetitive and special menu for lunch that different everyday, but I think the most selling point especially for international tourist is all the server can speak English almost fluently 😆😆.. also the price is reasonable, especially because it located in the center, the price is good 🤑🤑. Worth to try

Pasticceria Calise David, located in Via Maiorca, Marina di Pisa, offers a delightful selection of pastries and drinks. Although they do not have an Instagram page, their espresso is exceptional. While some pastries might be average in taste, the sfogliatelle stands out as delicious. Recommended by the hotel owner as a popular local cafe for coffee, prices at Calise are surprisingly affordable compared to those in the UK.
Very cute cafe. Lots of locals here too. The staff was really kind and made me an iced coffee even though they technically don't have it. Their canoli was really tasty too!

Pasticceria Calise David Location: Via Maiorca, Marina di Pisa (Surprised that they don’t have an Insta page.) Espresso was gorgeous! Pastries looked great but tasted mediocre, except sfogliatelle which was delicious. Place was recommended by hotel owner and she said it is a popular cafe among the locals for coffee. My mistake that I assumed it is great for pastries too 😁 Prices were very low compared with the UK. A big plus. Anyway, good coffee was enough to cheer me up and start the day on positive vibes!

Delicious fro-yo, great deals. 3.3€ for a large cup of Frozen yoghurt with delicious fresh fruits. They have other deserts as well. The place has a working air conditioning which is priceless in the summer. A refreshing Oasis in the horrible desert of Pisa.

I did not even go into the store and taste the yogurt. So why am I giving this place 3 stars? It’s because I want to 5 different gelato places and they were all closed. They were not open on hours listed here on Google. One at least had a sign that said they’re close for the winter. The others were just closed. I was told that Italians don’t like to eat gelato when the weather is cold. If that is the case, I will be nice it was reflected on here. But apparently, it is not the issue was frozen yogurt. I did not come to Italy to eat frozen yogurt. But I give this place 3 stars for being open at the hours stated on here.

On top of the great customer service, the gentleman serving us made the experience extra special by offering gestures of courtesy, like serving our wives and daughter first, and even using some words from our own language. 🌟🍞 IL VECCHIO FORNO – THE OLD BAKERY OF LEGEND 🍞🌟 Step aside, all other bakeries of the world—Il Vecchio Forno is not just a bakery, it's a time machine, a perfume bottle of toasted dreams, and a museum of doughy masterpieces rolled into one! Nestled in the heart of a medieval Italian street and flying the flags of flavor like a culinary castle, this 200-year-old marvel practically radiates the scent of history. The second you step within olfactory range, you're enveloped in a cloud of fresh focaccia, roasted nuts, and old-world magic that could make even the most gluten-averse traveler weep with joy. And let us talk—nay, sing—of the masterpiece I was lucky enough to try. This dense, glorious square of nut-studded nirvana is a local specialty that tastes like someone distilled an Italian grandmother’s holiday memories into a single, chewy bite. Packed with whole almonds, pistachios, and what I suspect are secret candied fruits passed down through generations, this rustic bar is a triumph of texture: chewy, crunchy, rich, and subtly sweet without being cloying. It’s dusted lightly with flour like a sacred relic. Is it a dessert? Is it a power snack? Is it edible heritage? Yes, yes, and YES. The shop window is like an edible diorama, displaying rows of artisanal breads, biscotti, and Tuscan delights, each handwritten sign whispering sweet promises. And their specialty "schiacciata con mortadella" and "prosciutto pisano"? Just the idea makes angels tune their mandolins. If you only go to one bakery in your life—make it this one. And then go again. And again. Because Il Vecchio Forno doesn’t just bake bread… they bake joy, history, and the very essence of Tuscany into every bite. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If I could give it 6 stars, I would.)

DO NOT BUY HERE! We found several maggots and spider web inside the package. We bought a bag as a gift, but they had to throw it all.

We found ourselves at the old bakery on our holiday from Scotland. We hadn't read the reviews prior to attending. When ordering we asked how much it would cost but was told "its not gold you are buying" however unlike some of the other reviewees we loved the shop keepers typically feisty Italian manner. We will be using above quote in our day to day lives when discussing the cost of things.

Very nice almond cookie from Tuscany. 3 euros but very delicious! He asked me did you sleep tonight because he thought i was calm/slow 😅😅😴😴 Dont know if he was being rude or just joking. I take it as a joke🤣👍

The food is on average, but the price are higher than in the most famous backeries in Paris... 5,5euros for a unique Nutella biscuit is too high. The price is clearly indicated: 3euros per 100g. But, you have no idea how much weight each biscuit. So, be careful while ordering.

The panettone is very dried… i tried 3 times here… even asked the owner, so disappointed 10€ for dried bread

I got to know about this place from info center. A kind lady recommended this bakery when I asked for tarto co bischeri. It was 1 piece for 5 euro. But it was amazing something like rum and raisin and just melts in mouth.

Ice cream shop
Peter Pan Ice Cream is a small artisanal ice cream shop that offers a decent selection of fruits and creams, along with interesting and not overly sweet semifreddos. The portions are generous, the ice cream is good and creamy, but prices may be slightly higher than average. The location has limited parking, but the service is recommended by many for its generosity and quality. The owner's passion for the sector shines through in the excellent ice cream they offer.
Too homemade ice cream with friendly staff. And the yogurt ice cream is just…. Pleasure.

Frangioni Giancarlo is a delightful pastry shop nestled in the heart of Pisa, where the aroma of freshly baked goods wafts through the air, inviting you to explore its sweet offerings. As you wander through the charming alleys leading to this hidden gem, you'll find yourself immersed in a sensory experience that feels almost cinematic. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a classic film scene, with friendly staff preparing delectable treats like cream puffs and rice pudding right before your eyes.

(Translated by Google) Following fragrant traces left in the alleys of the centre, I move to unknown places where I find new sensations mixed with existing ones. With this sense of olfactory upheaval I approach a small room created in the rib of a cinema. Maybe it's because of this or the morning torpor, like in a film I enter into the plot of cream puffs, coffee and.... The impact changes the script and I see that the shop assistants, like in a Fellini film, prepare the shop windows to go on stage . The cream puff looks at me and like in "Alice in Wonderland" says eat me. The crumbliness of the chou paste gives way to the creamy and not very sweet consistency of the chocolate. The clue leads me to investigate as in an Aghata Christie film and I soon discover who the director is. In an inlet created adjacent to the main room, an alchemist prepares his sweet potions according to local tradition. His advanced age and the lack of helpers remind me that he is like "The Last of the Mohicans". When it disappears, a taste that has told the story of Pisa for generations will be lost. I wake up as if from a Woody Allen film and with sadness in my heart I let the smell pass through my skin to leave a trace of itself. To be preserved (Original) Seguendo tracce odorose, lasciate nei vicoli del Centro, mi sposto in luoghi sconosciuti dove trovo sensazioni nuove miste a quelle già esistenti.

Pleasant shelter. But the greatest satisfaction was given by the toilet: when I accompanied the little ones to pee, I found a clean and fragrant bathroom, which made me fall in love with the place: well done, the hygiene is there, I'll try the ice cream next time! I think the worst pastries I’ve had in Italy: cream was not fresh or it was a problem with ingredients. Dirty tables, average coffee. Person at the counter had flue and didn’t wear any mask. The question is why this person was at work, but I’ll leave it to management. Don’t go, any bistro would be better.

I love the food here, while i was on vacation a came here close to every night. On top of the great food, the service is great, all the workers are kind and are sanitary with the ice cream, however, the atmosphere is a hit or miss, some nights it could be great, others there will be nobody other than old man smoking in your face.
