Dessert restaurant
Divina Gula is a charming tearoom and pastry shop located away from the bustling restaurant and bar area. It has gained popularity for its cozy ambiance and diverse selection of pastries, attracting both locals and tourists. The cafe offers traditional favorites as well as unique sweet treats that keep visitors coming back to sample their new creations.
I think about the tortas de Guimarães from here at least once a week now that I have tried them. They are perhaps the only Portuguese pastry treat that I truly like, in the whole country. I don't even find them particularly sweet, like other people say. I've had much sweeter. We came in to get a tea and to try a few pastries when we were visiting the town. The gentleman working there was so nice, so helpful and informative. He told us all about the different types they have and made suggestions. I initially didn't want the Tortas de Guimarães because they did not seem like something I would like, especially with the mention of sweet potatoes in the sweets. I was so wrong! So flaky, buttery, light, and sweet! Absolutely beautiful balance of sweet and savoury, and the texture was divine. Such fantastic pastry. I can see why they are a must-have when visiting Guimarães. We also tried some of the others, and liked the all, but not as much as the tortas de Guimarães. Tea was served nice and hot, and there's a cute little sitting section at the back. Excellent little café with delicious treats and a wonderful person working.

So we came to this place based on a recommendation from ChatGPT. "Tortas de Guimarães" were a crescent shaped pastry invented by nuns of the 16th century by nuns of Santa Clara and apparently this place is responsible for reviving and modernising the tradition and makes the best version in Guimarães. I didn't try the others so I cannot say if it was the best, I can say it was excellent though. Crispy on the outside and very delectable on the inside. For other Indians travelling to Guimarães... Tortas de Guimarães looks and even remarkably tastes very similar to Gujiya that many places in India make during Holi, minus the use of egg yolks of course. You should definitely try this treat to be reminded of gujiyas with a Portugese twist. Highly recommend this place. Decor was excellent too and the staff was courteous.
Tushar P — Google review
Delicious local pastries and dessert. I tried Tortas de Guimarães & Douradinhas de Guimarães which are the local Guimarães dessert and it tasted very good. I also, tried Rocha da Penha & Pasteis de noz and they were nice but not as delicious as the local once. The grill who is working is very helpful.
Majed A — Google review
We loved the pastries and found them all amazing! We stumbled into the sleepy shop attended by a distracted twenty something on his phone. A little sign hanging outside caught my attention where the main ingredient of spaghetti squash struck me as unusual. We bought four different ones and took them back to our hotel room to snack on later. WOW! All are fantastic! Each have different flavors and textures but all brilliant. Not too sweet and very enjoyable. Were so glad we tried them all. Highly recommend you try a few. Dare I say these rival and surpass the famed Nata de Belém that are so popular in Portugal. My love affair with almonds might be to blame. ;-) I can only hope I can find these back in the US. I might have to learn to make them myself.
Richard H — Google review
I found a gluten free treat here! And they said they normally have two gluten free options. Very delicious hazelnut pastry and espresso.
Meagan W — Google review
This deserves 5 stars without a doubt. Best pastries in town, much more delicate and balanced (less sugary) and tasty than other places. Absolutely delicious!
Chloé G — Google review
According to my guide, Pastelaria Clarinha is owned by one of the families who bought the original recipes for the doces conventuais (convent sweets) from the nuns. The service was excellent, and the sweets were unbelievably good. I ended up trying one of each—my favorite was the Torta de Guimarães. If you come to Guimarães, you must stop by and try a Torta!

Manjar dos Doces is a top spot for breakfast in Guimaraes, offering a luxurious and stylish setting with traditional Portuguese breakfast options. The restaurant also provides an array of pastries and baked goods for those seeking a lighter option to pair with their morning tea or coffee. Visitors rave about the fresh bread, delicious toast with hazelnut spread, and high-quality products like toasts and juices.

Excellent pastry in Guimarães. Here you can find high quality, fresh and tasteful products for your breakfast or even lunch. The toasts and juices are great! The shop is located in a calm surrounding (+- 2km from Guimarães city center) and there is plenty room to park the car. Great spot!

After ordering a cappuccino, we got some instant nescafe water. After explaining what we had in mind by saying "cappuccino" we got coffee and hot milk what tasted ok-ish. Juice was tasty. Sweets were also ok-ish. Bonus star for very cheap price.

Nova Camir is a charming pastry and bakery spot in Guimaraes, offering traditional local treats prepared with authentic methods. It's an ideal place to savor a light pastry breakfast and artsy coffees while soaking in the city's ambiance. The cafe serves a variety of savory and sweet pastries, including local specialties like Pastel de Nata and Bola de Berlim at reasonable prices.
Sounds like I've found a pastry paradise in Guimaraes city center! We couldn't resist either—visited four times in just two days, now that's a successful pastry spree! Seems like the secret's out with all the people stopping by for a bite. Fresh pastries and the variety are spot-on with those local specialties. If you've got a sweet tooth, this place is a must-visit!

This is my most favourite cafe in Guimaraes. The Jesuita (or mini Jezuita) is just the best! And you can get good and fresh pastery even in the night! The staff people are very nice, friendly and the service is proper. Highly recommend for a true local experience.
Zuzana K — Google review
My last breakfast before leaving Guimarães! Came recommended by a friend and didn't regret it. Large coffee (abatanado), pastel de nata, lanche com salsicha (sausage snack) and Bola de Berlim (Berlin ball) for 3,50. The abatanado was to my taste, stronger than in other places, which served kinda watery coffee (to my taste, of course). Pastries were good as always in Portugal, and the price was fair.

Casa Costinhas is a bakery and cafe located in the heart of the city. It specializes in the Torta de Guimaraes, an original and best pastry in Lisbon. The coffee is excellent, and the service is very attentive. The sweets came in pigs, which made it easy for everyone to try them all.
Perfect Portuguese desserts, all 3 I ordered are very delicious!!

Very old and traditional confeitaria in the centre of Guimarães. I knew this shop was famous for the torta de Guimarães and for the Toucinho do Ceu. They were both very good and the woman at the desk was very nice and welcoming. We went to the confeitaria on Sunday afternoon, so maybe they were finishing their sweets of the week but I had the impression that they had been baked some time before, although the tortas was very crunchy and very good. I highly recommend!

(Translated by Google) It is a chain of small pastry shops and this is, perhaps, the most comfortable place they have in Guimaraes. The prices are very cheap and the quality of the bowling is quite good; For less than a euro you can eat a very delicious bolo and have a good coffee. Although the place is, above all, frequented by students, it is visited by all types of public. They are also offered to take away, in special packaging. There are several types of bowling and it is difficult to choose just one. I recommend stopping by and trying them. The place is comfortable and they even have an internal, outdoor terrace. Would not recommend, avoid at all cost. Service here is terrible, waited for 40 minutes to get 4 drinks, a sandwich, poffees and a coupe of ice cream (Bananasplit) We noticed other orders that were placed later than ours, were served out earlier. After asking the person behind the counter why it was taking so long to at least serve out the drinks, it turned out they completely forgot our order. The employee, not even recognizing us, even told us other customers were first, although these customers just arrived at the counter. So after telling the staff this is no way to treat paying clients they partially served out the order, but forgot 2 of the drinks. We had to go back 2 more times to ask for the smoothies, and were offered no compensation. We demanded compensation for the last two drinks and after a lot of persuasion they finally agreed. The mismanagement of this place is unlike anything else we experienced in Portugal. The order was really simple and the staff just didn’t care at all. Yet it’s a relatively expensive place.

We visited this NUT Guimarães in February 2023. It was a family short trip to Guimarães. We ordered shakes and pancakes. They have indoor and outdoor tables. The service was a bit too slow. The cafe is located in the pedestrian street. They accept payment in cash or multibanco.

Decent dessert stop 👍☕️ Food: Delicious churros, however I felt they were more waffle like and could clearly see they had been made in a waffle machine. Nothing wrong with this at all and they were delectable, but if someone was expecting fried churros then this isn’t the place to get them! €6.80 for 10 churros seems quite pricey, however I personally can’t compare to other places. Service: nice staff, little English spoken but was understandable. They accept card ⭐️⭐️ Atmosphere: classic cafe outdoor seating was nice, limited mess, felt very content. Would come again to try the other desserts/ice cream 🔥🔥

We could not believe how delicious the donut shake was! Hot and fresh donut with Nutella frosting and sprinkles and the most creamy and wonderful milkshake! Mmmmmm!

The staff is nice but the food is just not good. The sweets are just sweet and dry with no taste. The ice cream also seems to be made out of sugar. And the sandwich was dry and the bread not very good. There's a thing called taste which is missing in this place. Especially for the high prices they charge you don't get the quality expected.

Nestled in the heart of Guimarães, Confeitaria Ribela is a delightful gem that perfectly blends the charm of a cozy diner with the inviting atmosphere of a café. Wonderful little place - from an American perspective it's kind of a cross between a diner and a cafe. Food has that family-owned single-location quality, like it's been made by the same owner-operator for decades. You won't leave hungry and it won't break your budget.

Do not miss this spot when in Guimarães. There are plenty of places to get coffee and pastry but this spot is truly special. Quiet and very comfortable. The quiche was delicious and the raspberry / chocolate mousse was extraordinary.

Small pâtisserie in Guimaraes. It was a wonderful surprise of delicacies. We had a warm welcome and found a cosy place to have one of the finest pâtisserie ever. The chef is simply world class. Definitely worth to stop by!

We came across this little pastry shop during our day trip to Guimarães. They serve excellent pastries for at a price point. We enjoyed a maracuja and pistachio cake and a vanilla eclair. Both were very delicious.

Delicious Passion fruit desert, one of the best I've tried. A very cozy place to enjoy coffee and a nice desert. In a quiet area, highly recommend.

Very delicious and fine patisserie! Éclairs are very fluffy with a nice crisp on the outside. The one with the hazelnut cream was a highlight. We can recommend the quiche and the toast as well. We loved everything and everyone was so friendly and made us feel welcome! :)

This place makes the most amazing pastel de nata!! The pastry is crispy and the filling is creamy and so delicious. For two cups of coffee and two pastel de nata’s was only €3,30. Service is friendly and polite. Highly recommend.

Good variety, had fresh OJ, pastries, and coffee. My favorite is they had the air conditioning going! Had WC but I didn't look in.

It's a strange place. I'd like to order some Natasha to go on the train ride back to Porto. We entered the store with 3 others following us. I stood in front of the counter waiting for the service. The waitress saw us, finished serving the sit-down customers, and went directly to the gentlemen behind me and took his order. We did not complain first, then she went to the lady went in last. When we complaint, she said in English that we need to sit down. When we said you kept ignoring us, she said she does understand English and started speak Portuguese. There seems to be some local rule for ordering sweet that we did not know. I'd like to write something about food, but not this time. We left without ordering anything.

Strongly recommend to go to this artisanal grocery shop. They have a mix of products from up north but also some from the south of Portugal. I loved the spicy figs, traditional candy and there is a whole collection of organic soaps, shampoos and other toiletries
