Restaurant
Bistro
Chez Alphonse is a renowned restaurant in Limoges, offering traditional bistro cuisine and a cozy atmosphere. Situated near the Central Market, it has gained popularity among locals, students, and families for its authentic French menu at reasonable prices. The restaurant is known for its classic dishes like steak, offal, and pâté served in a homey setting with red accents and leather banquettes.
The food and the reataurant were great. The waiters speak very good English and were super friendly. Overall it was a really good experience.
A. D — Google review
We dined quite early at 19:30, which may explain the disappointing experience. While the menu offered traditional French dishes, the execution fell short of the standards I’ve come to expect in France. I ordered the chicken supreme, which was unfortunately dry, served with overcooked macaroni—some pieces were even dried solid. The sauce appeared to have split, and it gave the impression of having been prepared in advance and reheated. My companion's veal was extremely tough—more like shoe leather than a quality cut of meat. Overall, a letdown, especially given the rich culinary traditions of the region.
Daniel P — Google review
We came here on a Monday as there wasn't a lot open in Limoges and was pleasantly surprised. With a traditional french menu, servings were quite large (I couldn't finish the steak tartare) and simple. The giant chocolate mousse was a huge hit with my kids!
Elizabeth G — Google review
The restaurant is fairly typical, with gingham tablecloths. The Limousin cuisine is well represented on the plates (calf's head with gribiche sauce is very good). I'd also recommend a country terrine and chocolate mousse, served as often as you like. All in all, Alphonse's is good and not too expensive.
Mat E — Google review
Probably the best lunch I've had for a long time! Staff is kind and they do everything they can to give you a good experience. We can't wait to come back.
Karin B — Google review
The dishes were very good and, even with all the tables occupied, we didn't have to wait too much to be served. The starter salad was small for the price it had and the escalopa and the desert were very good. The staff was efficient. They are in a pedestrian street in the old neighbourhood and they have a big terrace. Good and quiet place to have lunch. Recommended.
Julia P — Google review
Superb menu. All 4 of us had different choices and no one was disappointed.

Haute French restaurant
Restaurant
Le Cheverny is an elegant dining destination known for its refined regional cuisine. The restaurant offers a weekly menu that showcases seasonal specialties prepared by chefs Didier and Estelle Palard. Diners can enjoy alfresco dining on the terrace, weather permitting, and indulge in contemporary fish, chicken, and meat dishes as well as delectable desserts. The restaurant takes pride in using fresh ingredients sourced from Limoges porcelain-clad 19th-century central market.
We’ve had the pleasure of dining at Le Cheverny on several occasions and it’s fair to say each has been a delight. However, lunch yesterday was truly exceptional. We were there celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place to mark such an occasion. As we've come to expect, the welcome and service was flawless. The decor is tastefully stylish and classy without being lavish and one feels very comfortable and relaxed in this setting. The generous table spacing is particularly favourable because there's nothing worse than feeling like one must constantly whisper or to be drowned out by their fellow diners. After a tasty amuse-bouche, I chose "Les Saint-Jacques Melba" for entré..... four perfectly seared and rather enormous scallops served on petite melba toasts along with a silky-smooth Comté cauliflower cream, veal vinaigrette and trout eggs. Mr H opted for "Les gambas flambées au Panazo".... four giant flambéd prawns complimented by crushed tomatoes and a swirl of homemade spaghetti. For main, I devoured the "Tournedos Rossini".... melt-in-the-mouth Limousin beef tenderloin with pan-fried duck foie gras and veal jus whilst 'H' savoured the "Entrecôte de bœuf de Coutancie", again, that divine tender race of Limousin beef that when cooked to the perfecting standards of Le Cheverny is, simply put, second to none. A day after the event and Mr H is still trying to get his head around exactly how that rendered fat cushioning his steak literally dissolved on his tongue. I imagine a most deserved and cherished secret belonging only to Le Cheverny's chef ! Last, though by no means least, came dessert. We were both seduced by the description of "Le New York cheesecake".... with notes of lime, coconut dacquoise, whipped vanilla ganache, exotic fruits and guava sorbet and which tasted every bit as good as it sounded. But wait.... did I just say last? Naughty me! One mustn't neglect to mention the two minature chocolate cups (tasting akin to a luxury Rolo) and encasing a lit candle along with a "bon anniversaire de mariage" bestowed upon us by our super-professional and friendly waiter. Way to go to conclude this superlative feasting! Le Cheverny..... we salute you and we'll definitely be back!!!!
Louise H — Google review
We had the most wonderful dinner here. The food was exceptional but the service was even better. Brilliant wine matches and the team went our of their way to make it a really memorable night
Simon M — Google review
My husband and I visited Limoges on our way to Toulouse and called in unannounced at Le Cheverny. We had the most incredible meal, the staff were brilliant and we wish we had time to stay longer. We highly recommend everything about this wonderful restaurant!
Lisa H — Google review
An amazing evening here at Le Cheverny. Staff was very friendly, even though they had some trouble with english, our waiter tried his best and there were no real troubles communicating. We had the 8 course tasting menu. Beautifully plated, well constructed plates. Not too big but when we reached the last course we had definitely had enough to eat. (Go carefull on the bread, it's delicious but quite filling). The flavors weren't always the obvious choice, but worked very well with the course which made it a surprising and exciting experience. I'd definitely recommend this place! It's not very cheap, but for a special night out (or just when you want to spend a bit) I'd say it's the perfect place to eat here in Limoges. A small suggestion for the restaurant, we would have liked to have had the check at the table, makes discussing tips and stuff easier, and adds a little fancy touch to the end to an unforgettable evening! Once again, thanks for the amazing stay!
Chiara O — Google review
Great food and wonderful service. We also enjoyed the interior decor. Most French restaurants I’ve been to are on the smaller side but this one was rather large which I appreciated.
Rachel — Google review
I just had one of the best meals I've had in France in 3 months! Very popular place, almost full on a Tuesday evening! My hotel recommended it. Limousin Kir (has a chestnut in it), very fine amuse-bouche, nicely-done steak, vegetables with a red cabbage puree (no, really good!) and a pear dessert. Beautiful surroundings and the service staff was excellent. Highly recommend!!
Laura G — Google review
What a great restaurant! We visited for a birthday lunch and enjoyed a delicious and beautifully presented meal. We will definitely visit again soon.
Frances H — Google review
As a coeliac I struggle to find restaurants that understand and can offer me a choice, but Le Cheverny offered me several options and did so with a smile. Absolutely amazing food, exceptional service and lovely atmosphere I will definitely be returning!

Fine dining restaurant
L'Amphitryon is a charming restaurant located in an ancient half-timbered building, offering an elevated and modern French dining experience. Situated in the heart of Limoges' historic center, this venue provides an elegant setting for lunch or dinner with friends. Chef Olivier Polla curates a memorable culinary journey by blending traditional and contemporary French cuisine, using the finest locally sourced ingredients to create innovative seasonal dishes.
We called in for an evening meal and luckily got a table. From start to finish the ambience was great and the food absolutely outstanding. The presentation, the service and the wine just divine. Francisco, our waiter was very knowledgeable explaining all the dishes and made us feel welcomed. A fine dine cuisine experience - highly recommend it
Dr Q — Google review
Very good high quality produce and flavours in the food. Phenomenal price for perfectly sized portions. Staff are polite and switched to English to explain each plate on service. As the last customer and eating alone with no background music When the bar dish washer was turned on a rumbled on its cycle it killed the atmosphere of a gastronomic restaurant for me. Would I go again ... yes ... but I’d eat outside casually.
Gemma P — Google review
Possibly the best meal I've eaten and that includes 3 mitchellin star restaurants. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu. Every course was amazing in both presentation and taste. The fois gras was like butter it was so well cooked. The service was amazing and the wine was phenomenal. One we will come back to every time we visit limoges.
Helen W — Google review
Insufficiently chilled and expensive champagne (€14 per glass). Bottle already opened? Tasty food, but limited choice. Very small/mean portions. Presentation takes priority over quality and my fish (lotte) wasn't fully cooked. Great service but we should have stay inside rather than experience the noisy outside "cafe culture". Departed still feeling hungry and a lot poorer.
Michael F — Google review
Staff seemed a little too casual for the atmosphere, but were attentive and friendly, which is never a bad thing. Food made with passion, even if my palate did not agree with everything I was served, I understood that there was a vision and integrity behind it.
Junji W — Google review
If you are looking for a fine dining experience with pleasant staff and a great atmosphere look no further. If you are in Limoges this should be your first port of call, I use the Amphytrion as my bench mark, it never disapoints. Truly great food, super wines, warm welcome and good value as well.

Haute French restaurant
La Chapelle Saint Martin is a charming rural hotel located just a few kilometers from Limoges. Set on 35 hectares, this elegant chateau offers country-style rooms, tennis courts, and an outdoor pool for guests to enjoy. The hotel's restaurant serves light and inventive cuisine du terroir, featuring delicacies such as delicate chicken broth with poached foie gras, lemon pasta, and Limousin beef fillet.
Beautiful countryside hotel with amazing service. The service makes you feel like you’re in your own chateau. The restaurant is high quality, although the tasting menu might be a little adventurous for a non-French tourist. There is road noise, but hotel rooms facing the lake were perfectly quiet. We used as the first place from the airport, though the drive is far after an overnight flight. Note Google maps does not take you the entrance, watch for the sign which is not lit. Breakfast was very tasty and worth the additional cost. The overall grounds are beautiful in Fall and I expect amazing in Summer.
Sean H — Google review
I'm glad I did my research... What a delightful find! This 4*hotel & restaurant proved to be the perfect respite on a rainy drive from Paris on to Carcassonne. Beyond just a stopover, the property itself is a destination, boasting expansive & beautiful grounds. Think sweeping green lawns (pasture like), a medium dense woodlot, & 2 lakes, all easily explored via well-maintained, mostly pebbled pathways. With a limited number of rooms, booking ahead seems wise. Arriving on a holiday was a stroke of luck, allowing me to indulge in the chef's tasting menu – a true testament to his remarkable talent & evident passion. Every dish was simply amazing! The staff were incredibly helpful, even insisting on carrying my bags in from the rain. A truly wonderful RELAXING (all in one) experience.
P K — Google review
a wonderful experience from start to finish, with charming and efficient staff and amazing food.

An amazing guest house in the countryside of Limoges. With oodles of old world charm, French style and absolutely stunning grounds to walk in. The onsite restaurant is worth going there for alone.
Vijai C — Google review
This was a nice Relais & Chateau property. It was very peaceful and the staff was accommodating. The restaurant was flexible and willing to meet our dietary requests considering we had traveled for 24 hrs straight. This was the first place we touched down after arriving in France. I would recommend this place to anyone wishing to stay in a quiet place that has a first class restaurant that serves modern and innovative dishes. This place was understated classy.
BB G — Google review
Had a pleasant evening. Lovely service, and food, but the ambiance was lacking something, maybe some music on the terrace would break the chatter from the other guest tables.
H B — Google review
This was a beautiful hotel with lovely decor in the rooms. The grounds were equally as beautiful, containing two fantastic lakes and plenty of natural woodland. The only downside was the prices in the bar (which were very, very high) but other than that it was a wonderful stay.

Les Tables du Bistrot is a charming restaurant located near the city, offering a delightful country setting to enjoy steaks and Perigord duck. The restaurant Le Cheverny provides an alfresco dining experience on its terrace with a changing set menu featuring contemporary fish, chicken, and meat dishes along with impressive desserts.
Great location near the lake surrounded by farm land. We are on their huge veranda. Well worth trying if in Limoges. Large range of choice to suit all tastes.
Orlando — Google review
As we entered the restaurant we were ‘welcomed’ by 2 of their cows in a stable by the entrance. Quite unique! The human staff were also welcoming and efficient. The dining space upstairs is spacious and beautifully thought out in a rustic style. Our first impressions were really good. Unfortunately the food wasn’t quite so impressive. One of the starters, rillettes de poisson felt as though chunks of yesterday’s left-over fish has been quickly stirred into some cream. Not very appetising. One of the mains was Parmentier (shepherd’s pie) ‘done differently’. I’d advise sticking to the original recipe! It came out as a very strange flavoured rissole of different meats on some sloppy potato purée. My husband couldn’t finish it. My lamb tagine was quite dry without much spice. Perhaps we should have chosen beef, given this is the special focus of the Limousin region. Just don’t know if we could have faced our animal friends on the way out!
Pat B — Google review
Go there with your eyes closed! The staff is super welcoming and attentive. The interior is magnificent, you immediately feel good as soon as you enter. It really is the perfect place to have a good time.

Great birthday experience for my mother in law who was visiting us from Reunion Island. The service was on spot, timely and caring. The food was delicious. The menu offers a variety that suits all tastebuds. We will definitely be back sooner that later.

An abundant meal surrounded in an authentic in a timbered setting. The traditional menu is diverse and will not disappoint even the hungriest guest as the plates are abundant. There are two items you cannot miss: 1. Ordering a digestive - you’ll be sipping in style with their “roly poly” glasses. 2. Be sure to engage in conversation with the “patron”, Stephanie! She’s delightful!

We sat outside on a warm autumn evening and were greeted by a friendly waiter who looked after us all evening. The ancient square with the beautiful buildings around us was a perfect setting. We had various degrees of the evening plat and a couple of bottles of a lovely dry white french wine and a bottle of sparkling water and the bill for 4 came to €190. We all enjoyed the food which was very tasty and well presented and very fresh with the steaks prepared perfectly. We will be back
Paul W — Google review
Beautiful building both inside and out. There was definitely language barrier as we don’t speak much French and the waitress didn’t speak English (why should she, we were in France after all!). We used google translate to read the menu which was fine. The food we had (pulled beef burger, and calves liver) was absolutely delicious. Nice extra touches like free bread, small cider aperitif. Favourite meal of our time in Limoges.

They should listen to the customers and explain better how the dishes are prepared. Persillade shouldn't contain cream, it was like soup. They don't apologize for the mistake. The price isn't adequate to the quality of the products.
Fulvio F — Google review
Large brasserie with some pavement tables. Decent entrecote frites for about 20 euros. Empty when we arrived at 7pm but rapidly filled up, garnishing the place with a bustling ambiance. Handy for the train station.
Matt T — Google review
Plenty choice, high quality food and perfect service.
Dimitri G — Google review
After hearing good things about Le Bistrot Jourdan, we thought we’d give it a try. Service was good and relatively attentive however the food did not meet expectation. The tagliatelle with vegetables (courgette, carrot, celeriac, pickled asparagus and sun dried tomato) was pretty lazy with no sauce and a general lack of flavour. Even from a basic dish, we were very unimpressed. The Jourdan salad followed suit, a rather confused dish including: Apple, lettuce, egg, duck (cold), tomato, pickled asparagus, pickled onion and frois gras. A very odd selection of ingredients that failed to compliment. As the restaurant is busy most evenings, their menu must have better options but my expectations were not met with our choices.
Gabriel E — Google review
Disapointing when considering the high marks on Google. An onglet du boeuf becomes a bavette and previously fried fries served luke warm. Given the volume and location, the owners stopped caring about quality.

The restaurant's popularity and excellent reputation stem from its commitment to preserving an old-fashioned style, offering a distinguished professional service, and serving perfectly prepared French brasserie specialties with respect to tradition.
With a company of 24 people is a considerable job. We did not wait long, vegetarians were taken into consideration. Service was swift and very friendly. I really enjoyed my salmon starter, Belgian "stoof" beef and nougat ice cream dessert.

Busy on Sundays … because it’s one of the few restaurants open on Sundays. Front of house a bit chippy when my schoolboy French failed me … waiter fantastic… food… ok, very fast service… feels like they want the table back… no chance to have an olive before the starter arrived…. 5 minutes and main is there. 1 minute after finishing main the cheese arrives…. Calm it’s not…. Food a bit on the bland side to be honest…. It’s not bad, just not great…

A birthday treat. Great location. Very stylish garden for outdoor eating with views of the cathedral. Excellent service and menu using local seasonal produce. Fine dining with a good choice of recommended wines. My 4th time visiting the restaurant; can't wait until next time!

We had a lovely evening at La cuisine du Cloitre last night. The staff were very attentive and friendly, the food was excellent - seasonal, light, flavourful and delicious. Would absolutely recommend if you are in the area!

We dined at La Cuisine du Cloître on a jazz night where a duo sang series of jazz songs celebrating female artists. The atmosphere, food and service were all exceptional. The staff worked tirelessly to make our night special, and we had an amazing time. Cannot wait to go back!
Francisco S — Google review
A beautiful restaurant.. We arrived at 8 o'clock to a reserved table. Waiter and young staff helping were delightful. It wasn't long before cracks started to appear. We ordered a 5 course meal with expected surprises! My wife and I were excited by the prospect of a chef preparing a meal for us without us knowing what we would be getting. Starter was escargot soup with mushrooms. Unfortunately it wasn't seasoned very well but we ate it. We were also given two small bowls of what looked like baby food with a few drops of beetroot juice on the top. The whole bowl tasted of just the beetroot and it wasn't a pleasant texture or taste. To accompany the starter we were offered red wine or white wine. Red wine from Italy white wine from somewhere else! We drank the white wine with the soup and waited.... and waited.. Almost an hour...along with all of the other guests. It was obvious the staff and guests were becoming restless. There was no food in sight so we decided to leave. Never to return. It was an awful experience.
Colin D — Google review
A real disappointment. We ate here on our first night in Limoges and opted for the 5 course tasting menu. In the main the food lacked flavour. The fois gras was more like a pate and the veal was over cooked and tough. Definitely not worth the money and feels like little effort went into courses. Thank you for your reply below. I'm not surprised at all that you lost your Michelin status given a very un customer friendly response like that. Your response is appalling! What you'll notice is that my review echos that of many other people. Out of all the meals we had this was by far the most over priced, for no imagination and flavour. Certainly not worth the money or time spent eating and the service...whilst ok on the night, the review response makes that a zero! Thank god Michelin took your status away.

Even just a one-night stay left a superb impression. The staff is welcoming and extremely helpful. The hotel itself is undergoing a long-term upgrade. Even though it is quite an old building, my room was clean and efficient. Everything worked well -- hot water, toilet, tv, etc. No complaints whatsoever. The restaurant had an interesting blend of traditional French and Brazilian cuisine. Very tasty, and the waitstaff excellent. Only 2 "complaints" for which nothing can really be done: no elevator and the surrounding area is a little iffy. Otherwise, I very much recommend Le Marceau hotel and restaurant!

We called in for a midday drink to shade from the sun. Service was reasonable enough initially, but it was difficult to order more than one drink, as we appeared invisible after this point. Le Pont Saint Etienne is a charming restaurant located in a 13th-century home, offering classic locally sourced dishes and featuring a terrace for outdoor dining. Adjacent to the cathedral, visitors can enjoy the serene Jardins de l'Eveche with superb views of the river Vienne and the Pont Saint-Etienne. The venue also offers private event spaces across its three levels, five interior areas, and two terraces.
The restaurant has a few sections. Terrace at the bridge level. Inside also the bridge level. Garden at the back at the river level. We sat on the terrace and had view of the bridge. Food was great. We took main courses : Half duck breast and Beef filet. We ordered wine that was recommended for each dish. And it went superbly well. My husband was very happy with his beef dish and wine. My duck was a bit tough and over-cooked but the overall flavor of the dish was real good. For dessert, my husband took the Sable au citron which was lovely (a bit small). Prices were reasonable on medium scale. Service staff was working hard but the chief staff lady was a bit stiff. Nevertheless, we felt that this was the best meal of our 18 days trip through Europe. The atmosphere was just right. Food was served in good timing. Pont Saint Etienne is very charming as well as the river Vienne. It was a magic evening for us and we fell in love with Limoges this way. We recommend it for great food, wine and view.

I was very excited to see vegan dishes on the menu. I have found dining out makes me anxious generally so I relaxed knowing the dishes I ordered was all meat and diary free. My dishes were innovative and daring. Some flavours clash individually and complement as a dish. Loved the rose meringue in my desert, the starter amazed me visually and the cold taste took me by surprise. Trio of carrots as part of my main was enjoyable. I kept reaching for my glass of wine they forgot to bring which really did spoil the experience. Yes the food was excellent inside your beautiful restaurant, my few minutes delay was actually the whole main meal. So the wine was out of place with my coffee. Please don't tell me it was only few minutes when it was at least 30. Review is true to my visit.
Lorraine J — Google review
Lovely setting and ambiance. The starter was a triumph but my main course of fish was a bit uninspired. The fish itself was well cooked but my vegetables were a mix of over and undercooked. What was pretty poor was the failure of our wine order to be delivered with the main course. The waiting staff disappeared as soon as the food was served so we were unable to notify someone our wine was missing.

Great restaurant over a butcher's shop. There was a terrace but the inside was comfortably cool so we chose to eat there. We also loved the desserts (I recommend the chocolate fondant with hazelnut ice-cream and caramelised hazelnuts!)

I did not dine there. As Google stated open all day I arrived at 18:45 to find out it opened at 19:00. A sweet lady explained it opened as such so we were too early. Not even 15 minutes. Definitely "quirky" decor, in an Alice in Wonderland meets French 1950s Americana kind of way. Busy at lunchtime, but lots of tables available in this surprisingly large space. We went for savoury galettes and salads, which were good, and a reasonable size. I would say this is a good option for central Limoges, with plenty of lighter and vegetarian options. Guests rave about the exceptional quality of food, particularly the impressive steak tartare and mouthwatering cheeseburgers. The attentive staff, including charming waiters like Christian and Bastien, ensure that service is both friendly and prompt without being intrusive.
We'd been coming to Hippopotamus Limoges for many years on our way through from southern France, but this year has seen a major refurb, with the whole restaurant looking fresh and new. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and the service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing or pushy. The food was always good here but it has stepped up to another level. Interesting aperitifs (try 'Red Fizz' with gin, tonic and red fruits with black tea infusion), tasty and well-presented starters, followed by an excellent range of mains for all tastes - meat, fish and vegetarian. Desserts (if you can manage one at this point) are varied and delicious. It's not the cheapest of steak houses, but the quality is more than reflected in the price. For aperitifs, starters, mains, desserts, coffee and a glass of wine, the price per head would be around €50. All in all, a very welcome finish to a day of long driving, and highly recommended.

Lovely stylish restaurant. We went for lunch on Christmas Eve. The oysters ewere superb my eggs mimosa was on the large side but delicious. Our bread rolls were warm and we like that. The fish we had was very good. The staff were very pleasant. There was a good Christmassy atmosphere.

Very good restaurant, extensive menu for both meat and seafood. The staff is professional and friendly. It has a ‘old world glamour vibe’ and casual at the same time. The seafood options are various and tasty. The portions are pretty large, especially compared with the prices. We were here on a Saturday evening, the place was packed. Do recommend making a reservation! One downside is that it was a bit too busy, the staff forgot our order of wine at the end of the evening. But no problem! We ordered for starter a plate of mostly raw seafood, very good! And the escargots. The escargots are not served in the traditional way with butter and bread in sheet, but the snails are removed from their shells and placed in a cream sauce, personally I did not like it this way, but it’s nice to see a creative take on this. The main course was cod fish, very excellent! And a risotto with scallops, also very tasty. The portions were too big or add a desert 😂.

With a menu featuring standout dishes like their renowned Steak Tartare and juicy Cote de Boeuf, it's a meat lover's paradise!
Fair prices, kidfriendly and top staff. I realise that this is a chain of restaurants, but it feels more intimate than that. It's at the same pricelevel as Courtepaille or Buffalo grill, but so much better! This was my second visit (last time in Agen) and better even than the first-time.

We tried to get a table 2 days ago but a reservation was required so we made a reservation for tonight for 19:30. We arrived on time and was seated. 40 minutes later with three hungry and thirsty children they still hadn't even taken our drinks order. It wasn't the staffs fault, they couldn't cope. The restaurant was very busy but only had 2 young ladies waitressing and running the bar between them. They are way too under staffed and so the service was appalling. We left after waiting 40 minutes and had no choice but to take the kids to McDonald's as it was now 20:10 and everywhere in the area requires a reservation. Don't bother with this place untill they spend some money on more staff and manage it properly. Use the hippopotamus restaurant up the road instead. Lots of staff there, great customer service and great food. The complete opposite of this place.

Had a lovely meal with really nice Minevous to wash it down. As we are English was semi difficult to communicate though the female owner did her very best to explain the menu. One of the best burger! Nice flavor from buckwheat bread and tasty steak. I got a waffle with cream for dessert and it was just awesome. Very crispy outside but soft inside. Great service, Jonathan was very patient, helpful and entertaining. We did not have to wait long despite us being a group of 16 and the restaurant being rather busy. Will have to come back to explore more of the menu, which provides a large choice to meet various appetites.

Appears to be a chain restaurant. More like French comfort food. Meal was ok. We had the Quebecoise and the Patata Burger Gourmet. The service was good, but they really wanted to sell us an alcoholic drink. Had to say no several times. Would compare to an Applebee's in the USA. Pretty good value, but simple filling dishes.

I totally recommend this place! We were more than an hour early before opening hours after a long car trip. The beautiful Savannah just arrived to start her shift and after consulting the kitchen, where Benoit is the chef, we were offered dinner instantly as the fires were hot providing the staff with their meal. I acquired the names after praising their marvellous attitude. Then the food,...well, I can only suggest you come and try. My wife had the salad oceane and me the gourmet burger. Both were delicious and sumptuous. Not your standard chippy shop! We stayed at the hotel nearby and got this on our to do again list 😉😎❤️ Daeng and Jan from Belgium xxx

(Translated by Google) We came for lunch. The starter buffet is very, very classic, and more like a cafeteria. And yet, some cafeterias have very well-presented starters. For my part, they were edible but not appetizing. The hot dishes on the menu, at least the ones we chose, were too small in quantity and not refined. In short, not appealing. The buffet dishes we didn't order were in a separate corner and, at first glance, looked more like canteen dishes than restaurant dishes. The dessert buffet was pathetic. None of them were really good, and the ice cream had no flavor. All this comment isn't meant to hurt, but frankly, with a bill of 32 euros per person, we can hope for better. There are major improvements to be made. From the decor of the room to the food. And in the competition at this same price, you can easily find better elsewhere. It's a shame, because the location has potential... Perhaps a rethink will solve the problem for the future. For our part, it won't be on our list of restaurants to revisit. I realize that the photos on the website are of dishes that are several years old, and which look very good. This is misleading, so remember to check the dates they were taken. (Previous owners.) )

(Translated by Google) Avoid! After a highly sensationalist article in the Populaire du Centre, we decided to give it a try. The prices advertised in the article aren't at all the restaurant's. On Sundays, the set menu is €29.50. There's no children's menu, and there's no cheaper menu. We had to negotiate to get a menu for a 10-year-old. The menu includes an appetizer buffet that's not even worthy of a truck driver, with egg mayonnaise, grated carrots, and sausage slices. The only appealing dish was the salmon mayonnaise and shrimp. Unfortunately, the shrimp were sticky and not good. As for the main course, the same toppings apply to everyone. Apparently, they have fries, but they don't offer them. In fact, they don't tell you what the toppings are when you order. The dessert buffet is limited to four flavors of ice cream and two kinds of cake, with no labels explaining what they are. I won't even mention the fact that the waitress (perhaps the owner) wanted to take our order right at the door, before we were even seated at our table. In short, it's pointless. Way too expensive for something that barely costs €12.

I was greeted warmly and promptly. An English speaking waiter gave detailed descriptions of the menu items. The food I ordered on two occasions was presented beautifully as if a picture was to be taken for a gourmet magazine. I ordered an aperitif that was a combination of rose wine and creme of pomplemousse (grapefruit) that was wonderful. The 'hamburger' was two patties in a mild blue cheese sauce with one circle of potatoes galette between the stacked patties and one on top. It was one of the most delightful dishes I've eaten. When I looked at the menu, I thought the items were a bit pricy but after eating, I felt like it was a good value for the dining experience.

L'Essentiel is a French restaurant in Limoges that serves up delicious food with friendly service. The menu has a variety of dishes to choose from, and the prices are fair. The atmosphere is great, and it's centrally located so you can easily walk to it. If you're in the area, definitely give this restaurant a try!
Great meal and service. One of the best I've found in Limoges. Just try it.

I enjoyed this restaurant. The menu is good and the staff are friendly. I recommend the prawns and tagliatelle although the beef dishes looked good too. The mozzarella and tomato starter is excellent. The location is central and the food is probably better than you would get in the more touristy restaurants near the cathedral.

Terrible place. Went for an anniversary meal. Wasnt asked if wanted an aperitif when seated. Plat de jour was not available at 1 oclock supposedly sold out. There was only about 12 people in there so how was that possible . Wife had to choose from menus told she cold have similar which we knew was previous days menu from facebook. When her meal arrived it was not what she ordered it was made up. Mine was brochette de canard which I requested pink it was burnt but cold so can only assume it was re heated from previous. Refused to have it reheated. Left paying only for drinks which for a planters punch poorly made was expensive. Avoid it

We dined at La Marelle des saveurs, a French restaurant, on Valentine's Day. The meal was delicious, but we were surprised by the price. Although the menu stated it would cost 28 euros for the meal in the dark, we ended up paying 42 euros per person because it was Valentine's Day - a difference of 50%. Unfortunately, this higher price was not displayed anywhere and only presented on the final invoice.
(Translated by Google) We ate very well and were very well received, we will put a little flat the pear fourme tart was not exceptional it was not very warm inside and when you eat it can be annoying and I would have liked a little more garnish with the meat I still give 5 stars for the very good dishes (Original) On a très bien mangé et on a été très bien accueilli, on va mettre un peu de bémol la tarte poire fourme était pas exceptionnelle il ne faisait pas très chaud à l'intérieur et quand on mange ça peut être gênant et j'aurai aimé un peu plus de garniture avec la viande je mets quand même 5 étoiles pour les plats très bons

Overcharged, underwhelmed, and completely let down. We ordered exactly what was on the board: two menus (starter + main) and three main courses. That should have totalled €75.50. We were charged €89.30 — with no explanation, no breakdown, and no visible justification. If you’re going to list fixed prices, honour them. Simple. The food? Disappointing. Dry, bland, and forgettable — even the kids left most of it. Given the hype and ratings, this was a letdown from start to finish. No transparency, no value, and certainly no reason to return. Be warned.

Déjeuner sur l'Herbe is a hidden gem that truly delights its visitors. Nestled near the Ibis hotel, this charming restaurant may not catch your eye from the outside, but stepping inside reveals a warm and inviting atmosphere. The terrace offers a pleasant dining experience, although it could benefit from some decorative touches like candles and plants to enhance the ambiance. Guests rave about the delicious cuisine, which is both flavorful and generously portioned.
Absolutely wonderful hidden gem! Happened to be staying at the Ibis next door so checked it out - what an amazing unexpected treat. The faux filet, the tuna steak and the chicken were all fantastic, and all the salads, trimmings, starters and desserts were wonderful too. We would come out of our way to eat here again!

We stayed in the hotel next door and we needed to eat near. So we chose for this restaurant on the outside it is not that inviting, but we went in and took place upon the terrace. The interior on the terrace could need some update. For which I mean a candle on the table and so on. To spice up the atmosphere, maybe also some plants and also at the entrance. We ordered some salades and we found it very tastefull. Good food and staff. We will recommend it.👍

L'Éminceur is a charming restaurant located near the church of the same name, offering a picturesque setting with lovely terraces. The establishment prides itself on serving dishes made exclusively from regional products, including beverages like cola and iced tea produced in Limousin. Despite its affordable prices, the restaurant maintains high-quality standards. Visitors can expect hearty portions of delicious Limousin beef and other fresh meats, served by friendly and welcoming staff.
Great sunny seating or sit inside if you like . They were super busy but nice and the wait was well worth it! Pork and fries with salad and salad Nordic with the most delicious fries ever! Try it all it's worth the wait. Cost wasn't too bad.

I had the chance to have dinner here on a Monday evening, which is already a huge plus. The menu offers enough variety to make you hesitate for a while, torn between great options. I went for émincé with fries, and it was something special. That chicken definitely didn’t live its life in vain—the chef knows what they’re doing. The fries were just as impressive—tender, flavorful, and perfectly done, which is saying a lot coming from someone who grew up on McDonald’s fries. The chèvre salad was fresh but nothing extraordinary—just a solid, classic choice. The drink selection is quite large, though keep in mind that soft drinks are priced higher than on a Ryanair flight, while alcohol stays within normal price ranges. You can get a decent meal within €20, but my order (salad, main course, and a glass of wine) came out to a little over €30. Service was top-notch—fast, polite, and perfectly timed. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We were lucky to enjoy L' Eminceur on a Sunday evening where most of Limoges is closed. The food was fresh, the service was perfect and the restaurant has lots of charm. We ate upstairs with the windows open for a lovely breeze. There's a large patio that faces a quiet courtyard with a beautiful church but it wasn't warm enough for us to eat outside but it would be lovely on a sunny day. I would highly recommend eating here! Thank you for the delicious dinner.

Excellent restaurant with family friendly welcoming service. Situated in a typically French square in front of the church which adds to the authentic French ambiance. Traditional French cuisine meets modern twist. Real French fries which tasted amazing. Serves locally sourced produce including the drinks.

Wow..... what a find. The city centre is currently under lots of construction so I was just walking around trying to find somewhere to eat. I walked into this open area overlooked by a church and saw this restaurant. Quickly checking the pictures online I realised this was the type of food I needed. I was welcomed by a friendly person who showed me to a table and helped me with the menu. Les Poutines with duck was so good I had to order another one just to enjoy it again. Followed this by cheesecake and my belly was both happy and full. Will definitely return here again. Food heaven.

Really great popular restaurant. The team there are very professional and friendly and were happy to help given my limited French. The food was excellent and very generous portions. Duck was excellent as was the open salmon and avocado sandwich. Great value for money and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of seating upstairs in a lovely room with lots of character.

Restaurant Le Barouf is an outstanding and affordable dining establishment that offers fresh and expertly prepared dishes. The chef, who handles both cooking and serving duties, showcases exceptional culinary skills. The value for money at this restaurant is truly remarkable, surpassing expectations.
(Translated by Google) I don't regret discovering this little restaurant by chance! For anyone with patience, this is the ideal place. The boss struggles alone in the kitchen and in the dining room, hats off to him! Obviously, this creates a wait but you quickly see why it is worth it. The porcini cream that accompanies most preparations is to die for, as is the sauce that accompanies the filet mignon. The gratin dauphinois is also killer. It's simple, we enjoyed everything we could taste... My friend and I were expected after dinner but we still couldn't resist the pleasure of having starter-main course-cheese-dessert. Fresh, well-cooked products won out over our punctuality. To make amends with those who were waiting for us, we strongly advised them to go to the barouf. So they shouldn't hold it against us for long. Remember to make a reservation though, the restaurant fills up quickly (the room can only accommodate around twenty people).

(Translated by Google) Avoid the detestable welcome! We wanted to eat in this restaurant this week but the waitress, who obviously didn't want to work too much, told us that the free table would be too small for 3 even though a table of the same size would already accommodate 3 people. Then, having heard that one of us was vegetarian, she told us that in any case, vegetarians were not served in this restaurant. We have rarely been welcomed like this in a restaurant. We strongly advise against it.

(Translated by Google) The meat is of very good quality, which explains the price. The home fries are good too. On the other hand, too few choice of sauces as well as the accompaniment (salad/fries systematically) The service, nothing exceptional. Disappointed by the desserts, 2 gourmet coffees but which are not identical, it's a shame... especially when there is an egg white bathed in chocolate 😵 the sheaf 😱 The wines are way too expensive.
