Super restaurant, the best we had in taiwan, delicious traditionnal food in a restaured old penghu style house. Lot of old funny objects inside, like a small museum. Amazing expérience.

Very small place that can easily be missed but was recommended by our host. The owner is so nice speaks English well and took the time to explain that some of the specialty cocktails are named after his parents -I had the one named after his father (a fisherman). We also had the shrimp in garlic sauce, meatballs, tempura style fish bites and prosciutto sandwich. Everything was incredible. They do a fabulous job cooking and making you feel like family the moment you walk in.

I like the cocktails 🍹 more than the food, the drinks are so good! But the food is not really authentic, though we can see the vibe they tried to build which is still delightful to be there. Here for you to enjoy the atmosphere in the summer night. Boss are friendly and chill. I would recommend to have couple drinks if you were around. So you don't need to spend time to make reservation.

Richie and Elyn are the best hosts. You are made to feel like an old friend visiting, rather than a customer in a restaurant. They are passionate about Spanish cuisine, my friend and I returned a second night because it was so good, and as such we tried the majority of the menu. The green chillies and the baked cheese are highlights. Although we didn't try the wine, the selection appeared very appealing. The cocktails we tried were delicious. What a fantastic place. The owners are so friendly and have amazing stories about their lives and travels. (MAKE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION AS THEY DONT TAKE WALK-IN’S) The food is excellent. Spanish tapas. I got the barratta cheese and tomatoes, octopus, tempura, baked Camembert, and shrimp. All were to die for. And they make excellent cocktails. I had one made with gin and violet liqueur, a cherry old fashioned, and one with a seared orange on top. All were delicious. Super highly recommended. Total price for 2 was about NT3000. Our first time there :) So much drinks to choose from on top of super tasty authentic tapas. Owners are wonderful to chat with. Atmosphere was relaxing bit warm since it's at a great location nearby the beach. We drank and ate lots to go back to the hotel happy. Not a typical place u would find in Taiwan...nonetheless in Penghu. A hidden gem for sure 😃 and we can't wait to come back again!

This place is food heaven if your looking for something more western! Amazing Tapas, amazing selection of menu items. Even just the fries are special here as the owner added a little to them. The prices are very low for what you're getting so dig in every evening if you want! Want of my favorites was the cheese platter, which is impossible to get almost anywhere else in Taiwan. The owners, Richie and Elyn are absolutely lovely and we had some wonderful conversations with them. The whole atmosphere of the Gardern & Tapas Bar is so cozy and beautiful too. Definitely recommend this place! It made my vacation there a hundred times better.

If I can give 10 stars I will! Even though they don't offer main course, the Tapas dishes are just really perfect and go well with the drinks. But I think that what makes the Tapas Garden special are the hosts Richie and his wife, they will definitely make you feel so welcome. Actually, it is quite thick, juicy and crispy with fermented glutenous rice flavor. If you don't wanna wait for a long time, it's better to arrive there before 4pm. Although the price is a little bit expensive, the snack is really savory and bought me joy.

A traditional Taiwanese restaurant with typical hot fried cuisine. All the dishes were excellent and the appetizer, fried peanuts covered with sugar, was special yet unexpectedly tasty. However, there were 2 main reasons that I can't give the place more stars. First, they didn't have menu in any kind. The ordering was to show you the all food materials, mostly seafood, in the fridge and then ask you to order from whatever you see and however you want it to be cooked. To be fair, this is a rather traditional way of ordering in a Taiwanese restaurant. But, the downside of it is also quite obvious. You don't know the price and can hardly control your budgets nor have a whole view of your meal. And, of course, it makes you forget to order specialty dishes. Second, the price was not very attempting, which combined with the first point can be really unpleasant. We, 5 native Taiwanese adults, had our meal and estimated it might cost us around 8 or 9 hundred NTD, cause we were quite full and didn't order much. Yet somehow, the bill climbed to more than 1300 NTD. So...... Be ware of how much each dish is.

We came here on high expectations but was disappointed. One person costs around 1100NT and there is not too many options. The seafood they serve here is not fresh. You can even see that the fish is mushy. You would need to order sashimi and not take it by yourself in which the staff will give you 2 pieces. And it seems like theyre hiding the salmon sashimi cuz you would need to ask it for yourself because its not on their menu. Oyster was also not freshly chucked and you can taste that its not fresh. Fried foods were soaked in oil. And at a time you will see the “chef” take out pre-fried tempura out of a plastic bag, which means those were not fresh too. An hour into dinner you would also see drunk people limping out of the restaurant. This gives you a vibe that its actually not what you expect in a high-end hotel buffet. The only thing we liked was the roasted beef which was juicy and has alot of flavor. But, definitely not anywhere worth the price.

The dinner buffet @ NTD$980 was a huge disappointment also, staffs did not seem to care about food and service qualities like they do at Silks Place. This was my worst dining experience ever and my first 1 star review. The manger also did not reply to my call. A very disappointed Bonvoy member😭

We had lunch and enjoyed the experience. The place is simple, not fancy, but the food is excellent. We tried the pumpkin noodles, which were flavourful and well-prepared. We also ordered local specialities, including sea urchin, which was fresh and tasty. The service was efficient, and the prices were reasonable for the quality. The restaurant has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, making it a good spot to try authentic local dishes. Visited the place with tour group. The food is really lousy. The prawns/fish is over-cooked, the abalones is served with it's stomachs intact.. Chicken soup is so so. Probably the last time I'd ever go to the restaurant. As a Taiwanese, we would always wipe our utensils, plates, and bowls before we eat. When we opened the cover for the bowl, we were extremely shocked to see a eaten prawn inside the bowl. How unhygienic is that? I have never been to a restaurant where these things happen... if you think that's just a little mishap... well wait for it.. I found a piece of hair on my fish ball when I had the fish ball soup. It was so shocking as a restaurant with high ratings that their hygiene is so atrocious. Never again.

Chocolate beef burger is an interesting combination. Very confusing to have sweet and savoury flavours in one bite. But it’s worth a try, bet you can’t find it elsewhere.

Found butterfly on Google and gave it a try for a Monday night dinner. I ordered the grilled chicken salad, which had a good variety of dressing options and I chose the Caesar. I never know what I’m going to get when I order Caesar in Asia (sweet mayonnaise?), but I was pleasantly surprised with a thick seemingly homemade dressing that tasted similar to what I’m used to in America. My husband was very satisfied with his burger and especially good fries.

Our hotel lobby was just across the street from this place. And when asked, our hotel front desk recommended it highly. Since it was dinner time and the place was empty we thought why not. Hotpot is NTD450 for two. There's a small plate of raw seafood and pig's liver that you can cook in the soup. The stone hotpot itself was filled with a lot of ingredients too (mushrooms, vegetables, beancurd, etc). We decided to add fried noodles, and an interesting looking fish to our meal. The hotpot was not bad, but it wasn't particularly outstanding in terms of taste or freshness. I'm unsure if NTD450 hotpot for 2pax is considered high, average or value for money in Penghu, it felt average high to me. The hotpot was sufficient for 4 of us to share even though it was meant for 2. The fish you see in my photo is called "red bride" locally. It's about the length of an adult middle finger and is as thick as a phone. So it's a tiny fish. Served deep fried, it tasted as you'd expect a deep fried fish to taste. But the sharp bones aren't fried to a crisp so don't try to chew or swallow it whole. This is a small place with only a few tables. One of the most authentic Penghu food locations I've ever eaten. Everything was delicious. Me and my two kids finish three big shaved ice with all the toppings in addition to a herbal jelly with all the toppings. If we come back we’ll do the exact same order.
