From baking our chosen flavours to creating the most beautiful donut tower display, they nailed every detail. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how delicious they were. The donut tower looked incredible and added such a fun, personal touch to our reception. This is the best doughnut place in NSW - no competition. I’ve tried all the big hitters in Sydney and the east coast and doughheads holds up. There’s a reason why they’re winning awards and once you try it you’ll know too. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Do yourself a favour and get over there- you won’t regret it ❤️

Long time Doughead fan. I pre ordered some of the limited Mothers Day specials to grab for Mum. I went to pick up at 2pm and upon arrival, found that the boysenberry icing had melted quite badly. It did not look like the picture I ordered. I have always had amazing quality food at DH so I was a bit shocked. I think next time I will skip the ordering and just buy in person. Food still tasted amazing and the white choc looked superb!

We travelled from Sydney and found this gem. My daughters had ice cream and donuts. Honestly I have never tasted fresh, fluffy, soft and delicious donuts like these. Got a mixed box and family demolished it. Not big on donuts. Seen the award ribbons and asked if there was any jelly. Lady said there was none but would happily make some fresh for me. Made me and my family feel welcomed. Thank you soo much for your service. We will be back

Arrived at 2pm, behind a customer already waiting and another came in behind me. One of the staff was making coffees, fair enough, but the other member of staff was stuffing around moving doughnuts from one tray to another in full view of the waiting customers. Surely the priority is to serve customers, not continue doing what was clearly not an urgent task. Hopeless customer service. Then I find out that the first three of my choices they have run out of a full two hours before they close. Not good enough.

I ordered a vintage chocolate cake for my sister’s 18th birthday and was super excited to try it as I have followed Cake Boi on Instagram for a little while now. The cake itself was quite nice however the icing was pretty disappointing. We took the cake out of the fridge an hour and a bit before serving (as advised), however the icing did not really soften and was pretty tasteless. Felt like we were biting into a stick of butter. I wouldn’t order a birthday cake from here again unfortunately.

Was looking for Medovik Russian honey cake everywhere in Newcastle with no luck until a lovely lady who bakes/sells on FB marketplace let me know of this place. Been here twice since and not a letdown so far. Wonderful friendly staff, clean cute simple "bubblegum" decor, great coffee and love the fact that it wasn't jam- packed when we went. Just the right amount of sweetness (or saltiness 😉), professionally but homely decorated & very generous portion slices. We often travelled to the Hunter Valley dessert bar when the crave for sugar rush beacons, but so happy to find this gem closer to home. With few different selections each visit to entice us, we are on a mission to keep coming back until we've tried each and everyone of them!

We came for the first time today and purchased several different cakes and slices for takeaway. All are delicious and looked beautiful instore, everyone was friendly and we didn't wait to long to be served. My only feedback would be given the price the takeaway packaging isn't that great and it quickly messed up the tops of the cakes and they didn't make it home looking so pretty anymore.

Enjoy variety of cakes this shop provides and very happy with everything we ordered, has to even repeated some menu to take home. Vanilla slide is excellent, would really recommend. Only tiny issue with my hot chocolate, it's not hot or even warm. A bit warm hot chocolate will complement my cake even more.

I ordered a cake for a birthday. The cake was not what I expected, it was so much more. Clearly a lot of experience and passion has gone into the development and execution. Astonishing value for money and I received very good customer care. Could not have hoped for more.

(3.5 stars) Lamb and preserved lemon sausage rolls ($8.50/each) and all hot savouries had sold out before 12.30pm in sleepy suburban Maryville. While the Baked Uprising pastry counter still had some appeal, nearly everything was sweet rather than savoury. The potata bravas galette ($8.50) held promise, with its pastry laminated with Pepe Saya cultured butter, however with pumpkin in the mix it ate too sweet for my lunchtime hankering. It was also quite small, so I threw in a cardamom spice cake ($6.50) to fill out the corners, appreciating the cut-through of aromatic spice in the moist little cake. House-made flavoured sodas ($5/glass) lured me in with sour cherry, but again for this sugar-jaded palate, it came up tasting too sweet. The back-street converted warehouse setting offers a view into the bakery, which employs over fifty staff. There are also shelves of take-home products to browse, running from pickles and jams to breakfast items like muesli and baked loaves, all the way to decorate-your-own pavlova shells. Care has also been taken to create some attractive spaces to sit down outside in sunny weather and enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat.

Uprising Bakery has in house made croissants. I came here due to other recommendations of these being the best on the central coast and Newcastle. As a croissant enthusiast, I was excited. The plain croissant was okay, but nothing special. I have had much better at Burnt Honey Bakery, but that is a long way away.

This is my favorite pie and pastry shop. It’s always busy on weekends, but I just can’t give it up. A lot of people bring their dogs, and I often visit with my own pet too! The staff are generally friendly, but there have been a few times when they got confused with cash payments or gave the wrong change. Maybe they could consider using a calculator? Other than that, I really love this place! + It’s a shame that they don’t have decaf coffee here.

I bought a large and a small cake and a loaf of bread. Goodness me! Why hadn't I discovered this bakery before?! It has changed my whole life. You wouldn't know the real taste of bread unless you try their bread. The sweets are to di.e for. I've found my happy place.

Difficult to write a five star review as I found that the value for money is rated to be 6/10, parking is difficult, found one piece of bacon in the egg and bacon pie. Range of bakery products was lesser than expected as an artisan bakery and the delay to obtain a coffee order was quite lengthy; for a popular business, I’d expect morning coffees to be moving quickly out the door.

The traditional beef pie was fantastic, it's pasty done to perfection and a good combination of beef, gravy and seasoning. The pork and chutney sausage roll was okay, but nothing extraordinary. Tomato sauce went well with that. Would be great if they had dine in plates as it was difficult eating our pies when all the baked goods came in one paper tray

Sadly found the fillings too salty :( we had the beef jalapeno, pepper and the pastie.

If heaven had a smell, it would be this bakery—only with less incense and more butter. You walk in and are immediately greeted by staff who are so cheerful, you begin to suspect they’ve either won the lottery or are high on croissant fumes. The pastries? Criminally good. I bit into a pain au chocolat and briefly blacked out. Woke up halfway through a cinnamon swirl with no memory of how I got there. The sourdough is so perfectly crusty, I considered apologizing to it for all the subpar bread I’ve eaten before. Coffee is available too, but honestly, it’s just there to keep your hands warm while your mouth handles the real business. Service is quick, efficient, and suspiciously friendly. One staff member offered to carry my tray and I almost cried. Would I go back? I already live behind the counter now. They think I’m part of the staff. Five stars. Six, if I could include the one I saw when I bit into the pecan tart.

Sad that i wasted $30 on cakes as a treat for my family to be very dissatisfied and couldn't even finish most ended up in the bin... pastry underdone, or stored for more then few days chewy and dense,icing so sweet it was not enjoyable definitely not fresh that day ehich is sad (Iced Match stick) Apple turn over fresh cream, pastry was flaky on outside dense & chewy in middle, cream was salty, Apple filling was lovely though. Lots of improvements needed.

Edited 16/3/24 Just had their Saturday brekkie special. Vegetarian brekkie with coffee. Soooo good Edited 24/10/23 Coffee & cake $9.50. Cappuccino & Caramel Cheesecake...sublime. Normally have brekkie here. Tried lunch instead. Didnt disappoint.

Delicious food, lovely service and great value Went to this cafe after seeing other stellar reviews about this place. Was not dissapointed! Truly traditional family style hot pies and pastries galore. However, the highlight was the coffee and cake combo, which we ordered a very decadent and rich (but not sweet) chocolate mousse cake, simply to die for. Would definitely come again the next time I pass through Cessnock

Probably the cheapest and best sponge cake I’ve ever tasted! The staff are lovely and even though I couldn’t pre order a cake on the Mother’s Day weekend the lovely assistant put one aside for me! Very kind and generous!

I'd been meaning to come here for a while now but the opening hours have never worked with my schedule and they're not open on weekends. However, I had a day off and was able to get there at around midday and grab three items. Parking was limited off street but easy enough to grab one a short walk away. The staff were friendly and the display items looked fresh and well presented. As I went later in the day there were limited items left to chose from but the three I did get were delicious. They tasted fresh and flavourful, were beautifully presented and not too sweet. You pay a little extra for items like this but the quality you get matches the price well. I would like to go back and try other items that I missed out on and would recommend to others in the area to pop in and try an item from this lovely and professional patisserie. Edit after second visit: They are open the 1st Saturday of the month, what a win! Again today at 11am there was very limited items left, must get there early!

We stopped by today after wanting to come here for so long. The wait was worth it. My Sister and Mum said they were the best sausage rolls they had ever had. I had a beetroot and fetta quiche, the pastry just so flaky and perfect, great winter warm flavours. The desserts, so mouth watering and not overbearingly sweet. I hate to say it, but my only thing was the staff could have been a little more welcoming, maybe a smile. Not that they were rude, but it took a while for someone to acknowledge us in the store. Overall, it was a good experience and we will be back, and I definitely would recommend stopping by.

A must visit. From a little treat to a light meal. Everything I've had from here has been of the highest quality. Have gotten several gluten free items as well for a family member, who was promptly turned into another customer. Well worth it even if it's out of your way. Note to all: card only amd limited seating.

Icky is a Maitland institution and the service is always impeccable. Food is delicious with a range of items available all the time and special editions available now and then. I visited recently with a friend and we both enjoyed our pastry. Great spot for takeaway, unfortunately the small outdoor eating space is on a very busy road. Grab something yum and find a park or a sunny spot by the river.

This absolute ABOMINATION to my taste buds have left me FLABBERGASTED and blown away. This place is amazing but don’t go there when it’s late, they’ll run out of pastries 😞 (learnt that the hard way)

Was excited to visit this bakery. As the cakes and goodies looked so good. On entering, the girl behind the counter was so grumpy that we took one look and walked out. It would be nice if she at least smiled or said Hi.

I ordered a croquembouche tower for 30th Dec. PERFECTO... Not only did it look good,But tasted delicious. From the profiteroles to the creamy custard and toffee drizzly over it was so crunchy. Thankyou Rhonda you did exactly wat I asked for.

Indoor or outdoor seating, or take away. Efficient service. Wide range of cakes, pies, breads or sandwiches, well prepared and presented. Clean and professional, they deserve to do well. I'll be back.

Service is a hit and miss, some of the workers are so happy and others not. Food is always great, recommend any of the Danish - hot or cold. Coffee is good. $3.30 for a babychino ... $$$

Amazing Customer Service. I love latte from there. And if you’re interested into buy some goodies from Morriset and some from Hunter Valley you can try to get them from here like honey and Olive Oil. They have parking for 5 minutes too 😃

A nice bakery with an assortment of breads and pastries. We bought an almond croissant, cinnamon scroll, plain croissant and another scroll. We think the cinnamon scroll was our favourite. They do coffee's too.

Had heard amazing things about this spot and was really excited to try it. The smell was incredible and so many beautiful choices on offer. We ordered x2 coffees, which were great, but Unfortunately x2 chocolate croissants were pretty bad. They were dense and quite hard with dark, almost burnt pastry, rather than light flaky pillows I had hoped for. The chocolate inside tasted ok. I can only assume they were over baked to correct the lack of puff, but such a shame as so many other options looked great on the shelves.

A little French gem in the heart of Nelson bay. Everything is absolutely top notch quality, well cooked, crispy, tasty, unbelievably gorgeous. In a nutshell, worth the drive to NB for that. Awesome service too. Please open more bakeries 😍😍😍

Saw videos about this place on instagram and tiktok. Both in "the best bakeries in the newcastle area" video, with this bakery in the top 2/3. So i was keen to give it a go but sadly it just wasn't great. Tried a few different sweet pastries and they were just rather bland. Nothing to them. Also slightly burnt too. Don't know if it was just an off day or not, but have had much better from lesser known more generic bakeries.

I arrived just before opening time of 7:30am and the line of costumers wanted to buy bread is already long. That's how you know how popular this bread shop is. Buy the time I ordered, the line is twice as long behind me. Be early to avoid long lines or you will be waiting for a while for your turn to order. From chocolate croissant, to four cheese and cinnamon roll, everything is perfect and delicious. The best I had in my opinion. The coffee is great as well. Came back the next day for more different types of bread. Try it and you will not be disappointed.

There is a reason you need to get in early for these beautifully fresh flaky pastries! They are the best in town. Totally worth the early wake up. The sourdough croissant‘s literally melt in your mouth which was a favourite and the cinnamon buns were a close second !!!! They are super fresh and warm. Definitely a worthwhile visit! Service is friendly too. There is a mini deli with artesian goods next door which is also worth checking out. Very fairly priced too!

The almond croissant was a total joke. Barely any almond flavour, a hint of almond at best. Basically no filling, no almond. I have had easily over a hundred almond croissants in my life and this must be one of the most disappointing I ever had. I made my point to the sales lady, who didn't really care and made me feel I was the problem. No complimentary alternative was offered. On the bright side, the coffee was good and served fast. Sadly the famed pistachio sour cherry pastry was sold out at 9.30 am on a Tuesday. Wouldn't you bake a bit more of your most popular item?

First and last time I order from Cupcakes Expresso in Adamston. I placed an order yesterday and specifically advised they could deliver to my door — but come on, even without saying it, it’s common sense to not leave cupcakes with cream frosting directly under the sun, especially on a hot day like today. When I picked up the box from my doorstep, all the cupcakes were completely melted and crawling with ants. Disgusting and clearly inedible. I called them immediately, expecting at least some form of understanding or solution. Instead, the person on the phone just kept repeating like a robot: "It’s not our responsibility, you said to leave them at the door." No customer service, no empathy, and definitely no accountability. She actually expected me to pay again for a new batch instead of offering a replacement — even though the product I paid for was ruined due to their poor judgment. Absolutely unacceptable. Not recommended at all. Avoid this place — terrible service, zero care for the customer, and no common sense.

Would rate Cupcake espresso Greenhills 0 if possible. Worst customer service ever! Literally asked for another cupcake and she huffed and puffed, chucked it in the table for payment and then picked up her phone and started texting. Never thought I would be made to feel like rubbish whilst buying a cupcake.

Went in for gluten free cupcakes and they were ready for me at lunchtime which was great. Great to fit in a last minute order so easily. All the cupcakes look and taste amazing. In the photo two of the gluten free cupcakes are missing (we already ate them!) One is Nutella, and passionfruit was the one we ate (delicious) not sure what the last flavour was. Definitely reccomend as my wife is coeliacs so needs gluten free. Thanks again!

Went in to talk to the lady about my 50th birthday cakes, I had rang and she was very informative and also told me she couldn't give me a price today, as she doesn't deal with that sort of thing, and it was a Sunday of the kings birthday weekend. But could help me with sizes and ideas of what i wanted. Which i was ok with. She was upfront about it. Going back on Tuesday to order my birthday cakes and the vegan one as well. Vegan cupcakes were so nice. Ava was the lady's name, she was so nice. And helpful.

I don’t know a business can openly not take any initiative and speak to a customer regarding their delivery when clearly they are going to be weather affected. It’s pathetic and you deserve to be ashamed. I would never order your cupcakes after hearing about the standards your business sets.

Wow as soon as you step into the Cupcake Espresso shop you are greeted with the sweet sweet smell of cupcake... do not attend if you have an uncontrollable sweet tooth! I stopped in this morning for a coffee which was pretty good!!! Admittedly I didn’t try the cupcakes this morning but fear I may need to make a return visit...

Although I didn’t get the chance to try the cake myself, I had endless amounts of comments about how tasty it was! The design was the exact same as the inspo photos and they were super easy to communicate with. Thanks guys!

Good steak and mushroom and pepper steak pies. Pastry is nice and flaky but falls apart a little too much. Good do woth a little more meat inside but flavour is delicious. Great for $5-6 pie.

It’s a pretty good pie shop that, believe it or not, make pretty good pies! Just saying, coz there’s a lot of feedback here of customer service being a bit lacking. I don’t find that an issue because I don’t dine in. Service was quick and efficient. Loads of choice in pies and they all look good. Pepper steak pie - 4/5 stars Chicken curry pie - 4/5 stars Beef curry pie - 4/5 stars Loads of filling and thick sauce. Pastry is really good.

Worst pie ever unfortunately. Crust was soft, had no flavor. Filling was almost like jelly and the mushrooms weren’t cooked.

Got to the shop at 10am, they had stopped restocking their pastry selection. Purchased a chocolate croissant which was dry and very flaky. Service was average at best. Older female staff member appeared frustrated with prior customers request for an out of stock item which lead to poor service with myself. But their bred selection appears to be good.

The banh mi is a processed meat and salad roll. No resemblance to a banh mi whatsoever. So disappointing. When we tried to speak to the owners we were rudely shunned.

We are so lucky to be able to buy an authentic delicious fresh banh mi here in Nelson Bay. This is a go to on a busy day or out cycling. Love picking up a banh mi, oh and usually a yummy cake too and cycle to a picnic spot and enjoy. Definitely so full of fresh salad and meat it's good to share but easy to eat on your own.

I visit here each time I’m up that way and it’s very popular with the locals. The baked goods have always been good. I went for the big breakfast for something different. Very good and happy with the choice. Coffee is also great.

Stopped in here for a pie and coffee. Big bakery with a huge assortment of hot food and cakes. It was easy to browse the menu, make a selection, and order. Service was five stars because of the red headed chap who served me. He was bursting with charisma and happiness, which out a smile on my face and made it a great start to the day. I ordered a Chilli Steak pie and a flat white. Pie was served the correct way, without a foil base. It was just the right temperature. It was easy to demolish with one hand. It was packed to the brim with filling and the pie maintained its structure until the last bite. A great pie! The coffee was about 7/10. Definitely worth getting a cup. Overall, it's worth your time to stop here and relax with a pie and cake.

We have no complaints on the food as we never got to taste it, the service is something to be desired. I did not get her name but she is middle aged or a bit older, short dark hair and wore glasses. She was rude, did not seem like she wanted to be there, even though I spoke loudly she asked me to constantly repeat myself. She even openly coughed on my food and looked directly at me afterwards expecting a response. I didn’t respond and threw the food away. Never again

I often come here with my son and daughter the 20 minute drive is worth it every time. I got a latte it was excellent. my son got a match stick and my daughter got a cream bun. Service was fast besides being very busy. I understand that because it's so good. Definitely recommend for an excellent breakfast or brunch.

Not behd not behd, more variety required at 2pm though. Chairs and tables out the front would be ideal also, it’s attract more business. And where are the prices on the board if that is where you want customers to refer to when ordering?

ALWAYS awesome pies... Especially the cheese and bacon pie... That's definitely the best in VIC and NSW... Period. Now with the New Makeover it's definitely a place to try. And they now have a fresh looking menu board to make the correct choice easier. UPDATE: - Toni & her staff have gone above and beyond again by introducing freshly made sandwiches & wraps for your taste buds. And also espresso coffee ☕.

Excellent, friendly, quick service & delicious pies! We stopped in on our road trip up the highway, and are so glad we did! The service was attentive & so friendly. I had a Breakfast Pie- bacon & egg and cheese and it was so delicious! There was plenty of seating inside and bonus was that it had a clean toilet for customers as well. I grabbed a takeaway coffee also which was very nice. Highly recommend!

Needed to stop for a late lunch. Came here to try the pepper pie - per someone else's google review, it was excellent. Consistency of crust was crispy, not too doughy or stodgy, lovely to bite into, well-seasoned filling, good amount of meat in the pie. Also got a lamington which was also excellent. Good thick coating, soft sponge inside. Would recommend & return.

Terrace Bake & break is a humble cafe with traditional Aussie cafe style food and atmosphere. They do cooked breaky and sweets, as well as pies. Nothing special in their food or pies, but all fresh and housemade. The sandwich is made on the spot and the ingredients looked fresh! Drinks are the same, no fancy coffee beans or latte-art used but with traditional style coffee and tea. We ordered mushroom pie to have on the table and caramel slice to go. The pie was ok as you expected, flaky pieshell and salty fillings, but the meat was minced, not chunky. Caramel slice was disappointing though.. I could not bite the crust bit because it was way too dry. Staff is friendly, and helpful, with big smiles in their face.. feeling welcomed. The price is reasonable for small business. Always reliable to open any time of the year, like public holidays.. probably to catch holiday travellers who usually take a break in Raymond Terrace.

Very glad we tracked down Old Mates before heading off on a long drive out of the Hunter. The plain steak pie had a mixture of mince and beef chunks and the potato pie was unique and delicious. We love cheese and vegemite scrolls and found the biggest ones ever. Went back for a second scroll to take on the trip. The lady behind the counter was really friendly and engaged with us quite freely. It was a great way to take to the road again.

I stopped in for a sandwich and some muffins, they all taste great and were reasonably priced. The service was also very friendly.

My first time at this bakery and I won't be back. Bread rolls were OK but I was actually shocked my how rude the lady was that served me. Clearly hates her job.

Nothing like a meat pie and coffee for breakfast. This bakery on the main street of Cessnock was open and available on an early Sunday morning which was great. There were a variety of options of pies however the filling could have been a little more. The taste and aroma of the curry pie we had was delicious. The surprising thing was the coffee - as the predominant feature of this location was it's Bakery and not Cafe I was expecting an average coffee - but the brew was fantastic and smooth with a great taste.

I got a cheese and bacon pie $6.80 where's the bacon and the cheese a little bit on top of the pastry is that what you call a flavored pie

Amaaaaaazing bread!!!!!! How can I get this bread delivered to WA everyday???? Pies were delicious - The pastry is incredible and the caramel tart was delightful!! Highly recommend a stop at Kurri Hot Bread!!

Advertised “fancy bread, pies, rolls” and delivers… nothing! Arrived at 12:00pm on Saturday during school holidays, there were cakes but no savoury (pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches etc) the bread sold is wrapped in plastic and looks like is coming straight out the Cole’s sitting on the other side of the road. Oh! And it’s a cash only premise, so welcome to 2025! People working there will ignore you, which makes the experience even better.

Love their food, very affordable and highly recommend their vanilla slices and signature white bread. Stars off only because being cash only unfortunately means I can only justify popping in when I’ve got spare change (aka rarely)

That was a very unpleasant experience. The lady behind the counter was very rude and abrupt. Note that this is a cash only business, and if you ask to pay on card you won't be treated nicely at all. I suggest putting up a large sign in front to let people know you are cash only and to avoid the treatment I just got. I won't be going back to support this small business again.

Bought a caramel latte from here just yesterday and I was pretty surprised at how good it was especially since it was made by a young person so I guess their staff are trained well. Not much of a coffee person but every now and then I need something to pick up my energy. Froth ratio was pretty good as well sometimes inexperienced baristas can make bubbly milk.

We usually go to the Coffee Hub Toronto, in the main street. But on a Sunday afternoon, unfortunately they're not open, which is understandable, due to little demand in the main street. We were totally shocked & greatly disappointed, at how tiny the serving sizes of cakes & treats were at Michel's. Our cakes were obviously old, because they were very dry; although the Coffee was nice. For the prices they were charging, they are obscenely outrageous! WTH? Atleast at the Coffee Hub, not only is the service very friendly, their portion sizes are extremely generous with good prices, meals are beautifully presented with artistic flair & totally delicious. Yummo! 😀 So!...Sorry Michel's Toronto, You are definitely NOT competitive or reasonable, with your portion sizes & pricing. 😖👎

Was very disappointed and appalled, when I was abused verbally for asking for a complaint form! I was swarn at and the lady was agressive, threating and very unprofessional. The shop has poor standards in customer service and glad I didn't get to order as it was a public humiliation, more for them then myself. I will follow up with complaints of many areas as I don't feel they follow policies and procedures, professional conduct now comply with covid 19 seating regulations.

What a delightful little bakery ! We popped in while in the area visiting family and we’re so glad we did ! The pies and sausages rolls were great, very old school recipe which brought back memories. We grabbed a fresh cream cake to take to our event and everyone enjoyed it. A lovely little bakery in a very cute little village !!

This little gem of a Bakery is where the portion sizes of the cakes are exceptionally generous, flavours are equally generous too. Selection is excellent. Pies cakes fresh bread and anything else bad for your health is catered to here, don't be in a hurry to leave my Latte was excellent too. Lovely staff. I couldn't take any photos of the display cabinets sorry. I did ask for permission out of courtesy maybe another day. Thanks will be back sooner than later. Cheers.

Oh my goodness the cakes 🎂 and pies 🥧 and Salad rolls , everything looked scrumptious! We enjoyed coffee and cakes after our Mural walk. There was a steady stream of people coming into the shop as we sat and enjoyed our tasty treats. We will definitely stop by again when we are in the area. 😊

Another Google find, wanted to buy some bread and decided on this bakery. We bought some light scrumptious poppyseed pumpkin bread and some mixed grain sourdough. Both were delicious! Staff were lovely and friendly. Recommend to check it out if you are in the area.

I have bought bread, sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls and some sweet pastries from the Bread Basket at Kurri Kurri. They make a wide range of delicious bread, especially the yummy sourdough fruit bread. The sandwiches and rolls are very nice and of good thick proportions. The also have pretty good coffee.

Went to get a sandwich at 1:24 waited in line at 1:31 a larger lady said to another staff member In the rudest manner possible to turn the light off on the sandwich bar as soon as she saw me looking. When she asked me what I wanted to told her nothing of she would not make a sandwich when they are actually assembling one for a customer. Rudest experience I have ever had the larger woman clearly needs to find a job she is happier in because your customers are not your verbal punching bags

Fast service and really good food! The chicken mayo and cheese was 👌 They also give you mints and napkins. Good place to grab a bite to eat. But is a bit pricey nothing too expensive though!

Best Steak Dianne (chunky pepper steak) pie I've ever tasted. Perfectly cooked tender chunky steak pieces in really peppery flaky puff pastry crust...awesome. A fantastic selection of breads including what looked like sourdoughs. I also had an amazing potato and cheese topped sausage roll that was also tasty. My partner had the caramel cheesecake and I helped her finish it. Tasty, smooth and creamy caramel with great biscuit crust. I will definitely remember to drop by again if I'm ever back in town. Pics show last remants of pie, as I remembered to take photo at the last minutes, to show the real steak chunks and how soft and moist they were...

Ordered a chai latte and I had to throw it out. Went back and explained that we drink chai all the time & this chai belonged down the sink. Absolutely disgusting. Very disappointing.

Terrible service at the downstairs store yesterday (26/4/24) @ 1:30pm. The light haired taller girl who served us was nice and polite. But the dark haired shorter girl was absolutely awful. Threw a paper bag into the cabinet in a huff, gave attitude when asking for 2 of each flavour, couldn’t crack even the slightest smile or politeness the whole time. I was so uncomfortable with this whole experience. I asked the taller girl if everything was okay and if I’d done something wrong - she replied “no it’s fine have a nice day”. Like come on. If your staff member is going to be that miserable, send them home. Yikes.

I Waited for 15 - 20mins to be served 2girls were on. And very rude. One of them just looked at me and ignored me,then when other customers came they just took their orders. I don't recommend this place service needs to be updated or retrained and learn manners and not to be rude

This is the place we always get our coffees, Chai and Mocha. They are thick, creamy and full of flavour. I can taste the chocolate in my Mocha. Nice service. A bit of waiting because it is always a long queue.

Their quake shakes are really quite a cuisine. And no one can compare with their classic cinnamon donuts.

Service was terrible, the girl who served us was giving customers a lot of attitude, rolling her eyes and only half listening, providing incorrect orders to us. When we corrected her, she provided us with so much attitude. No staff should act like how she does.

Great coffee, smooth, not bitter, really enjoyed it. Add the mini carrot cake muffin and cookie & cream muffin (shared with hubby) and you’ve got a great morning tea break from birthday present shopping!

Ordered 2 coffees. 1 was a medium( more like small) iced coffee with almond milk and was charged $7.30. What a rip off. Basically a cold coffee( that is $4.70 )with ice. Nothing fancy. Would not recommend.

Got 6 cupcakes ,they look very tempting but taste was awful. The cupcakes were decorated nicely but only to deceive you. Full of sugar and not fresh at all. Cupcakes topping was really surgery and taste very bad. Had 2 of them and the test to the bin. Not recommended at all if you are looking for quality bakery.

I attended your cafe on Sunday 5th March to spoil my mum on a day out. As I work in the centre and spend a lot of money there I thought it would be lovely. My mum is a senior and showed the lady serving her senior card as there is a big sign on counter and the girl didn’t put it through as senior and charged her more. When we asked she said oh I forgot. And the blonde lady that was making coffees when the lady asked to fix it up and rolled her eyes and said so you want us to refund so you can get a discount. We were so polite and said yes please as we did ask the lady. She rolled her eyes again and spoke down to us. Never have I been treated so rudely. I asked for a refund and said that she didn’t have to to be so rude. Will never be going back and I will be letting the owner of the store no!!!!! Disgusting!!!! They made a mistake so just fix it and say sorry.

This was once my favourite coffee shop in Charlestown. I’ve filled up a few loyalty cards, but over the past 6mths or so has gone downhill. Coffee is still good, but service is shocking! Always appear to be understaffed in the mornings. This morning was told the shop does not open for another 15mins, but website clearly states opens at 7:30am. I went to another coffee shop and realised the coffee is also good elsewhere now too (service and price too) :) Thanks Fifi La Femme

Delicious food and super friendly service, this bakehouse is one of the best around. They have a wide variety of savoury and sweet delights, it makes it hard to pick just a couple of things. Quality at affordable prices, I'm glad to have grown up in a town with an asset like this.

Shaun and all the staff at the Medowie Bakery are amazing. They are always super friendly - even when run off their feet over the busy lunch period. Great selection of delicious pies and sausage rolls. Their bread is super fresh and the Butter Scotch Caramel cake is a favourite of ours! You must try it! It comes in muffins also if you want something smaller. I only wish they would bring back the chicken and cheese pizza’s they used to make. They were fabulous!

We purchased a small rectangular forrest cake for $24 at the Cessnock store. We have purchased one before, a while ago now, but the one we had a couple of years ago was so very nice. Yesterday we bought another. The tall asian guy who served us, had trouble folding a cake box, and seemed to be inattentive. We were very disappointed with the cake. It was extremely dry, just tasted like dry stale chocolate cake with hard cream. Needless to say it wasn't eaten. It wasn't nice at all. We rang the Cessnock store and the guy said, we have another one here, i am sorry you feel that way and hung up . Won't ve coming back :(

Came in for breakfast. It’s nice and open and the staff were lovely. Price was so reasonable. The b&e roll was pipping hot and tasty. Coffee was good. Definitely interested to go back for more.

Purchased 4 cakes/slices on a Monday. Would have thought these would have been placed in a box not paper bags. Lemon meringue tart was stale with filling being hard (binned it), flourless cakes with fruit slice on top were somewhat dry, the French vanilla slice was probably the best of a bad lot. Freshness is questionable, won’t be back.

I wish I could give 0 stars but I'm forced to give at least one to leave a review. I came here with my Mum, three siblings and their Nan. We ordered seven meals and a drink. The first meal was a Hawaiian Open Melt, which is just cheese, bacon and pineapple on bread. This restaurant somehow managed to only melt the top few milimetres of cheese leaving the rest grated on the bread, not even close to melted, and the pineapple stone cold. My Mum also got the exact same dish which came out perfectly and tasted great, I even tried a piece just to verify. I had the fish and chips which was a little dry but tasted quite good anyways. When they brought out the sixth dish we thought it odd that my 4 year old sister hadn't received her Ham, Cheese & Tomato toastie as we all had received our meals and even patrons who arrived after us were recieving meals such as lasagne and schnitzel. We told them that we were still waiting on it and they said they'd bring it soon. We waited ten minutes before starting to eat our meals because we didn't want to eat in front of her. I went up to the front counter and let them know that they had failed to bring the Toastie. Over 15 minutes later, as my Mum was getting out of her chair to go complain for a third time that the 4 year old at our table was still waiting they brought it out. There was no remorse, no apology, nothing. That afternoon my Mum rang up the establishment to complain and one of the staff left a note to the owners to call her back this morning. Turns out the owner was the woman who served us. She still did not apologise about the customer service recieved and then had the nerve to only offer a cake and coffee on the house when we spent over $50 in their restaurant and waited 25 minutes for a child's toasted sandwich. That's just embarrassing and shameful and if you intend on being a restaurant where children can actually enjoy spending time with their family then you've got a lot to answer for. My Mum says she doesn't even know the name of the other cafe inside the plaza but she very much regrets not taking her business absolutely anywhere else possible.

Popular bakery with a HUGE selection, including passionfruit cupcakes YAY! Everything is baked on the premises & you can taste the difference - it’s also nice to see into the enormous kitchen where the magic happens as you’re being served. There’s a fresh sandwich bar & several drink fridges & coffee/milkshakes etc, too. This place was recommended to me by the lovely ladies from Sweet By Design cake shop & I’m glad I took the tip! The spinach turnover was delicious & the orange poppyseed muffin wonderfully moist. The American brownies are the biggest brownies I’ve ever seen & the staff are careful to check if you are okay to eat nuts before you pay which is very helpful & considerate of them. I do wish they had a broader vegetarian/vegan range in the savoury hot foods. Everything was very reasonably priced & I will be back for more passionfruit cupcakes as they were yummy!

I've stopped by here a hand full of times because I work in the area. I get a variety of different things like rice paper rolls, bread roll banana bread, a sandwich and even tasted some of the sweets. I seem to always get served by this one particular female worker. Each time she serves me, she is not patient and has zero customer service skills. I stopped by for some lunch and there was no waiting customer, so when she approached me to take my order it went like this, "hey how's it going, what are you after" because there's no waiting customer I then replied I'm good thank you, how are you. This lady then just stood there starring at me as she's waiting for me to spit out my order. I gathered she isn't going to answer so then I asked for 1 item before I finished spitting out my 1 item, she cut me off with is that it... I understand your at work and you probably don't want to be there but did you know CUSTOMERS PAY YOUR WAGES. yeah, maybe this particular person should learn to maybe even fake a smile for crying out loud. I've had her serve me each time I've visited the shop unfortunately, and thanks to her I won't return. I enjoyed the rice paper roll with chicken and Avocado.

Decent country bakery. Loved seeing the family making pastries in the back. Sadly I could not try any of the meat pies as I cannot eat onion so I had an apple pie for breaky...and I was not mad about it. A really good apple pie!

OMG! Ordered the Potato Pie, Fruit Salad and Apple turnover with fresh cream for lunch....forgot to take a photo of the pie and fruit salad, was too busy enjoying them but managed to take a photo of half the Apple Turnover. It was crispy, sweet and with stack of Apple and cream with a sweet crunchy flakey pastry! The staff here are so friendly and exceptionally fast service. Clean, tidy and welcoming for sure. Will be there again for lunch this coming Tuesday, and do some better photos!!!

Decent local Bakery with a variety of bread options. The hotel pies were fresh and delicious! Coffee was just OK

The most delicious Pork and Gravy rolls in the Hunter Valley. The crackle is superb and not over cooked. The range of pies is huge. A secret surprise on the menu is the Vietnamese Chick Schnitzel roll. If you love Bahn Mi, you need to try one of these, absolutely incredible.

For years I’ve come to this bakery for cakes and have never been let down until now. I asked for there to be extra caramel in the filling of the cake because it’s my favourite and even paid more than i usually would for a cake with high hopes just to have those hopes shattered upon a bite of the most crumbliest, buttered mess I’ve ever eaten, on the outside it was great but the inside was just HORRIBLE. Not to toot my own horn but my god I could have done a better job on the filling than that. There was the tiniest little slither of caramel and in some areas none at all, despite asking for EXTRA. I paid $70 for this and even messaged the company about how unhappy I was just to be left on read. And on top of all this I was forced to pick the cake up early because their power went out and they didn’t have any backup generators and also continued to sell their food at full price when you could clearly see the food(creams) spoiling in the window of the display. I will no longer be getting my cakes made here.

Absolutely amazing, we used Simply bliss for our wedding Cake it was so fluffy & delicious. They quickly responded to our enquiries, such affordable pricing & most importantly made our cake exactly as discussed! I would 100% recommend them

My cheese and bacon pie lacked cheese and bacon, upon biting into it I noticed a jelly like substance, lifted the lid. Looks like dog food. The cream horn. The pasty is tough and over cooked. More like a short bread pastry than a French pastry like a French horn normally has. The ‘cream’ in the middle is not cream, it taste and looks like icing off a cake. Very sugary, the texture is thick and can see and feel the sugar through it. Not sure if simply bliss is trying to save money but it taste horrible. And nowhere near the standard it used to be.

I got 2 cheese and bacon pies today and they were undercooked majorly. The tops were white, the bases were raw and the meat was like soup. I didn't want to leave a crappy review but you don't have a phone number so here we are.

I purchased 3 small items for $13 today. 2 what could be called Louise slice and a cup cake looking thing. I dont think i have ever purchased ‘cakes’ or bakery items so appalling. The slice tasted like an old soggy fridge and the cup cake’s cream was disgusting overwhipped and stale, the cake itself was horrendously dry. Im not sure what happened to this place or if this is just week old stock but it was yuck and all went in the bin

I got some pies from here for the first time yesterday, they were delicious however I wonder how long they sit out given the shops long operating hours. I got very sick overnight, having not eating anything else the day prior it had to be the seafood pie that I had which kept me up all night with vomiting, the runs and stomach cramps. My partner had a cheese and bacon (what I assume was a far more popular flavour) and he is fine. I wouldn’t go back.

Just bought a curry pie & vanilla slice today, the lady serving was nice & courteous but the food let them down. I could barely taste the curry & the mince was too runny almost as if they freeze the pies so when reheated there is a bit of water there. The vanilla slice didn't taste fresh, the taste & texture of the pastry & custard seemed a 2-3 days old. Cost wise $11 for value & taste not worth it, I'd recommend to try elsewhere.

The filling in the pie was watery crap pastry was stale Tasted like an old pie $10.50 for a pie and a Coke expensive as well. Do not recommend going here 711 pies are better

Fair warning, I think they are witches because no mere mortal is making pies this good without witchcraft or maybe a deal with Satan. I don't even know WHAT we had because my travelling companion, bless him, brought out a box of pies & said "I don't remember what I ordered but they all look good". And they were. The crust was structural on the bottom & flaky & golden on the top. The filling was thick & meaty & packed full of flavour. I really don't know what else I can say about these pies other than we will be back when we are driving that way again.

The owners seem to appear quite tired, almost robotic as there’s just no life in the customer service with conversation whilst they stare outside onto the road. The bread is on point and the crust of the pies are 👌🏻 but the meat is deplorable, contents needs some love inside the pies please?

1st time to this bakery won't be back, lamination was stale, partner got a sausage roll, took 1 bite and threw it away, quality is very bad and they don't have much there which would now explain why after tasting what they do sell

This is quite surprising. I just bought a freshly made cake, but the packaging box looks like a second-hand one, with some oil stains on it. It’s safe to say it’s not suitable to bring to a friend’s party. However, the cake tastes not too bad!

Order a chocolate mud cake for my daughter’s 17th birthday. The cake was dry and didn’t taste fresh. Very disappointed as it cost $40.95, would have been better off buying it from woolies or Cole’s for under $10. $6.00 for text that had very little care given ,for that money, I expected more quality

I had a very surprising — and honestly disappointing — experience today. I bought what was supposed to be a freshly made cake from a local bakery. While the cake itself tasted decent, the overall service and presentation left a lot to be desired. First off, the packaging was a complete letdown. The box looked second-hand, like it had been used before — visibly worn out with obvious oil stains and smudges on it. It felt unhygienic and completely unprofessional, especially considering I was planning to bring the cake to a friend’s party. Honestly, I felt embarrassed even carrying it. To make matters worse, the service was indifferent at best. The staff handed over the cake without so much as a smile or a simple thank you. There was no effort to ensure the packaging was clean or properly sealed. It gave the impression that they didn’t care about the quality of the customer experience at all. While the cake itself wasn’t terrible in taste — moderately fresh and decently balanced in flavor — the poor presentation and lackluster service completely overshadowed it. It’s a real shame because first impressions matter, and this bakery clearly missed the mark.

We get all our cakes from the cheese cake shop kotara they always do an amazing job we are never disappointed the cakes always taste as good as they look so yummy and it’s always made the way we ask

I ordered a burger cake for my boys and Unfortunately was more likely just normal cake with 5% of whipping cream. Even I asked to put the first letters of my boys and that didn't happened not pleasant at all. 55$ for what I don't know 😕 the cake as shown in the first photo so sloppy unprofessional work. And in second photo how dry it is.

The banh mi was delicious and the old lady who greeted us was so lovely and kind. The She even gave me a little discount even though I had already refused. Thank you. I visited Newcastle for a trip and her shop was one of my favorite memories. Highly recommend!

I've walked by Vo's Bakery on Hunter St many times but finally popped in to this unassuming spot. I was immediately greeted by the friendly proprietor and I chose a bahn mi with pork and some chilli. I had to get a few other sweet treats too! The bahn mi is superb, full of freshness and flavour. Definitely don’t come here for a pie—it was absolutely terrible, one of the worst I’ve ever had. It was barely hot, almost cold, and since when does a cheese and bacon pie not have cheese in it? Just awful.

Every morning for 1 year, I get my breakfast there. Their Bacon and Egg roll is my favourite. I also get a Chicken kebab on a stick, it’s full of flavour. Occasionally I get a Bahn mi roll, again, full of flavour and very filling, cheap as. The staff are very friendly and always give their best to satisfy their customers.

Really disappointed in my experience today. Purchased a dry and flavorless pie at the premium price of $5.50 But was slogged a 30c surcharge on top just for using eftpos. (Credit card surcharge on top too) I have had nicer home brand pies from a budget supermarket. The name of the place should be changed also as I did not see any cakes on display and there was an extremely limited variety of well anything on offer. The Asian staff member who i dealt with obviously had a bit of an attitude, judging with the way she greeted me and overall I won't be back nor would I even recommend the business to anyone. The atmosphere was bleak and uninviting and I really do not know how they manage to stay in business.

Saw the reviews and thought I'd try it out. Definitely worth it for the bacon/egg roll, a perfect pick-me-up in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of glutenfree options as well. The cake variety are pretty adorable-looking. I had a lemon cake and it was soft and fluffy, with the perfect balance of lemon icing, both fresh and enjoyable.

Ordered a takeaway Chai latte on soy. Drove away and discovered I was drinking warm milk with sprinkling of nutmeg? Couldn't taste any cinnamon. Unusual taste. To add insult to injury I also had an upset tummy and now suspect the milk was off because of the unusual taste. Not happy.

Have bought multiple cakes here and can’t rate them highly enough! Most recent a gluten/dairy free banana cake with passionfruit icing was delicious!

Ordered a sausage roll and a pie, sausage roll was great but the cheese and bacon not so great, crust was flaky and pie was a good size but the gravy in the pie was bland and was similar in comparison to a frozen pie bought from a supermarket.

Pies were salty but unseasoned and tasteless, not to mention are about 70% gravy. The pastry crumbled the moment my hands picked it up, spilling piping hot gravy down my hands. Massive fail. The baked custard tart was quite good, though. Service was friendly, but when the girl rang up my bill she added another $15 cents to it on the eftpos machine. She obviously didn't think I saw, and I said nothing. The amount is negligible, but if you do it to every customer that adds up.

Friendly and efficient service. Happy to accommodate gluten free dietary requirements and made suggestions on decorations. Cake was so delicious and no one even knew it was Gluten Free! Will definitely be returning for future birthday celebrations!

👎🏽Some of The worst pies compared to most. Too much pastry base and filling is pretty basic! I wouldn’t recommend these pies to anyone and we all know what a good pie tastes like. And the young girl was so unfriendly like you were a pain, we had to ask for 4 different pies that weren’t available from the menu till we settled for the plain and a cheese. What a disappointment

Originally I was just going to go to the Cheesecake shop to purchase a cake for my husbands birthday but then decided that we should go to our local bakery at Stockton. So glad we did!! The mud cake was absolutely awesome with all our guests commenting on how lovely the cake was. Will be getting all our cakes from here now!!

Friendly staff lots of breads and hot cross buns and I think cakes To. Sadly the bit cross buns were a let down. $6.50 for 6 not much fruit in the and i think they forgot to add spice /flavour to the mix. Very Bland.

I’ve ordered at least 5 cakes from Gab at Earthlings bakery for various occasions, including my 40th birthday, baby shower and my son’s 1st birthday. I’m always very pleased with both the taste and presentation of her cakes and my party guests always ask about the cakes and love them as well. Gab is helpful, professional, kind and talented. My go-to bakery!

Cake was so delicious and so incredibly moist. Whole thing was gone in 5 minutes. All the non-vegans were blown away about how good the cake was. I’ll be getting cakes from here until the end of time. Also, the service from Gab was amazing, she went out of her way to make sure my cake was absolutely perfect.
