The donut tower looked incredible and added such a fun, personal touch to our reception. This is the best doughnut place in NSW - no competition. I’ve tried all the big hitters in Sydney and the east coast and doughheads holds up. There’s a reason why they’re winning awards and once you try it you’ll know too. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Do yourself a favour and get over there- you won’t regret it ❤️

Long time Doughead fan. I pre ordered some of the limited Mothers Day specials to grab for Mum. I went to pick up at 2pm and upon arrival, found that the boysenberry icing had melted quite badly. It did not look like the picture I ordered. I have always had amazing quality food at DH so I was a bit shocked. I think next time I will skip the ordering and just buy in person. Food still tasted amazing and the white choc looked superb!

We travelled from Sydney and found this gem. My daughters had ice cream and donuts. Honestly I have never tasted fresh, fluffy, soft and delicious donuts like these. Got a mixed box and family demolished it. Not big on donuts. Seen the award ribbons and asked if there was any jelly. Lady said there was none but would happily make some fresh for me. Made me and my family feel welcomed. Thank you soo much for your service. We will be back

Arrived at 2pm, behind a customer already waiting and another came in behind me. One of the staff was making coffees, fair enough, but the other member of staff was stuffing around moving doughnuts from one tray to another in full view of the waiting customers. Surely the priority is to serve customers, not continue doing what was clearly not an urgent task. Hopeless customer service. Then I find out that the first three of my choices they have run out of a full two hours before they close. Not good enough.

I ordered a vintage chocolate cake for my sister’s 18th birthday and was super excited to try it as I have followed Cake Boi on Instagram for a little while now. The cake itself was quite nice however the icing was pretty disappointing. We took the cake out of the fridge an hour and a bit before serving (as advised), however the icing did not really soften and was pretty tasteless. Felt like we were biting into a stick of butter. I wouldn’t order a birthday cake from here again unfortunately.

Was looking for Medovik Russian honey cake everywhere in Newcastle with no luck until a lovely lady who bakes/sells on FB marketplace let me know of this place. Been here twice since and not a letdown so far. Wonderful friendly staff, clean cute simple "bubblegum" decor, great coffee and love the fact that it wasn't jam- packed when we went. Just the right amount of sweetness (or saltiness 😉), professionally but homely decorated & very generous portion slices. We often travelled to the Hunter Valley dessert bar when the crave for sugar rush beacons, but so happy to find this gem closer to home. With few different selections each visit to entice us, we are on a mission to keep coming back until we've tried each and everyone of them!

We came for the first time today and purchased several different cakes and slices for takeaway. All are delicious and looked beautiful instore, everyone was friendly and we didn't wait to long to be served. My only feedback would be given the price the takeaway packaging isn't that great and it quickly messed up the tops of the cakes and they didn't make it home looking so pretty anymore.

Enjoy variety of cakes this shop provides and very happy with everything we ordered, has to even repeated some menu to take home. Vanilla slide is excellent, would really recommend. Only tiny issue with my hot chocolate, it's not hot or even warm. A bit warm hot chocolate will complement my cake even more.

I ordered a cake for a birthday. The cake was not what I expected, it was so much more. Clearly a lot of experience and passion has gone into the development and execution. Astonishing value for money and I received very good customer care. Could not have hoped for more.

The Grumpy Baker made us the Happiest Customers! First off- my hot chocolate was divine- best hot chocolate I have had in Newcastle. Earl Grey was fragrant and delicious. I tried the Potato Boureka and a cheese stick which were both super tasty with amazing texture! My party had the croissant which they rated a 9/10 - only cause you need to save your 10s for miracles. Pricing is amazing, two pastries and two drinks for $23. Can’t beat it for the level of quality provided. Many many options for everyone and serves as a cafe and bakery!

I have been going to the Grumpy Baker for a few years now before my travel home to Canberra. I come to Newcastle once a year, I should get there more often. I love the ocean, markets, weather there. Anyway, I enjoy a good apple danish and coffee. It wasn’t too hectic because I got there early for a Sunday morning. It was so hard to choose other things to take away for the 4 and a half hour drive so I settled for a fluffy croissant. Can’t wait to go there again. Unless they open one in Canberra in the Inner South, of course.

From Brisbane and wanted to try this area for breakfast, nice fig n walnut toast with loads of jam and peanut butter, big serving and filled me up. Lovely coffee and the young girl serving was super friendly, parking easy to find

Firstly, I never leave food reviews. I tried a small local bakery today with hopes of enjoying some quality baked goods and coffee. I ordered one beef pie, one raspberry Danish, one mini chocolate croissant, a small flat white, and a large flat white. The total came to $38 — which, frankly, is steep for what I received. Now, I’m all for supporting small local businesses, and I don’t mind paying top dollar for food that’s done well. But at this price point, I expect the food to at least stand out. Unfortunately, everything tasted quite bland and very basic. The beef pie lacked seasoning, and the pastry completely fell apart — really disappointing. The Danish and croissant were forgettable too — not really flavourful. The coffee was fine, but not enough to carry the experience. For some people, $38 is a significant amount of money — especially for a quick bite. I left feeling disappointed, not because I overspent, but because the quality just didn’t live up to the price. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I can't justify a return visit based on this experience.

I meant to be on a diet but walked past The Grumpy Baker today I couldn’t resist the look of the almond croissant in the window. There was a little break of customers at the counter so I thought YOLO and went and got one and I’m glad I did, definitely the best I have had in a long time plus the two girls on the till and coffee machine were super engaging and had a chat which was nice to experience for a change. Will definitely be back 10/10

Ok. Firstly staff are great. A lot of staff. Ordered the chunky beef pie and two sausage rolls, $25.50. Understand costs for everything are up just have to cop that. The pie pastry taste was on point and the filling great. THE BIG DRAMA here is someone has forgotten it’s a pie. You’ve got to be able to eat as an enclosed pastry…..and you can’t. The pie comes in a silver foil pie case but the base can’t hold the weight. It’s too soft and just falls apart. You can see in the photos it’s impossible to eat as a pie…..Pies shouldn’t need cutlery …. Sausage rolls are huge but just to big and it shows in the photo…..Greasy on the outside and dry in the middle. For the price it’s a no from me.

We were traveling through Newcastle from Sydney with our newly diagnosed for 1 week coeliac child. We’d ran out of safe foods in the lunchbox and found the Blind Baker. Everything is new and scary for us now but we were so looked after by the wonderful lady on the counter. We will now be looking at ordering for home delivery to our home in Sydney. The food was delicious and tasted like regular food. The pastries were amazing, just like regular pies. 100% will go out of our way to come back when we are in the Newcastle area. Wonderful gf selection, great for coeliacs. The pies are exceptional, especially the red wine beef. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. We make sure to stop by, every time we are in Newcastle.

Hidden away but what a treat the pies are massive biggest ones around I think cheese and bacon filled nicely and chunky steak bits included well worth the price its a meal in its self and the cheese and bacon rolls are twice the size to most other places selling them a+++

Nice atmosphere and lovely staff. I paid 18 dollars for a chicken salad though and it was the saddest meal I've had in a long time. Wouldn't rate it as a side salad.

Dad absolutely loves his pies, pastries and cakes. So when he was recently diagnosed as coeliac it was a bit of a struggle adjusting to his new diet requirement and finding places in the area that could fill the void. We were recommended the blind baker by another takeaway that offer gluten free options and were really glad they recommended this place because everything was great. Their pies are huge and filling and of the highest quality meat used. Their gluten free dessert offerings is wide and really delicious. They’re also very generous and threw in free GF buns and cookies the first time we visited and it was really appreciated. Highly recommend to all, especially those requiring GF options.

Hi, This place is not what you'd expect. The food is respectable but not great, the serving sizes are small and format for eating is a bit odd. Gazetted 1.5hr slots to eat and go. We were only there an hour anyway. I emailed to offer to provide some private feedback but to date they have not responded. Pork belly, dry. And ok. Squid - pub feed quality, sufficient Cauliflower entree, not good. Meal sizes are very small, eat before going there. Overall, the cost makes it a little rough to stomach. Waitstaff were ok, but not what you'd expect in an expensive restaurant. The experience left me wanting, more food, and better service. Thanks.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. Sat out on the balcony on the top floor under the heaters. The food was fantastic as was the wine and service. A great little restaurant! Highly recommend!

Food was fantastic as usual. But the service could use alot work. Little care was shown and an unwillingness to improve the experience... would seriously consider not returning in the future.

The perfect New year's Eve breakfast. The juices here are extra fresh and both the pancakes and the eggs Benedict we had were wonderful. Relaxed atmosphere with the front window thrown open for a view over the park to the water and shipping yard which is a great reminder of the history of the building.

Location and food were excellent! The menu was great too- nice selection. The reason for one star is staff or service which was non existent. We went there for lunch and the words that were greeted with were - what do you want? The guy behind the bar counter who also appeared to be in charge was extremely rude to be the least. Also very selective in terms of who gets the table service or who gets a buzzer. It was almost empty due to a work day but we noticed all Indian and Asian clients were receiving buzzer and other were receiving table numbers. Not sure if there was any other reason for this. I hope there was. We don’t normally leave single star reviews but I think the management is being let down by couple of their staff which ruins the experience of this otherwise amazing place.

Great venue with outstanding location and friendly staff. Unfortunately the last couple of visits have been let down with the quality of the food - 5/6 of our group were disappointed with their meal. The steaks were tough and the chicken on the Caesar salad was extremely over cooked. A few adjustments in the kitchen could make an extraordinary difference to the dining experience. It’s a shame as otherwise this place really does have so much going for it!

Not being for a few years we were hoping they had improved. But no. Sorry I find it hard to give a good review when all 4 meals were average and mine non eatable the lamb was so stringy , fatty n tasteless. I kept chewing and had to spit it out. The 3 other meals were there words " not worth the money cold and bland" . We felt the menu was way to big for a pub just our views .. do less and do them well. We all voted not to ever return. The decor lovely, view amazing but that's all. I understand sometimes a person may not like a meal but 4 out 4 saying no is not a great sign.

We stayed one night in a beachside cabin and loved it. Gorgeous big room. Well designed and well equipped, with a lovely view. Even better it is adults only. Everything was good quality down to the sheets and towels. The staff were friendly. We shared a seafood platter for dinner in the bistro. It was delicious and good value. Would love to stay longer in the future.

Location was amazing, food was lovely. Really let down by the service and cleanliness. While I appreciate there is obviously a bird problem hench your near the beach, but not once was a table wiped down. Some stuff just left plates there which caused birds to swoon and poop everywhere. Never got a smile or hello from any staff member and most not really wearing appropriate work wear or shoes.. Ive worked in hospitality myself so I know what to expect. Probably our 1st and last time at this place

We booked a function room for lunch for 70 people. We tried double servings of 7 candles followed by Sliders. So much food that the guests went home with enough leftovers for dinner. The bar provided a nice variety of wines and draught beers.

Beautiful view and location. Super disappointed in the food, our entire tables order came out cold. They sit there at the counter for too long before they even call the buzzer to come get it. I took mine back to be reheated and it was colder the second time around. One buzzer didn’t even go off and we had to chase it up. The seafood in the pasta was chewy, overcooked and cold. Just overall disappointing. This place has a lot of potential

We stopped for a quick breakfast before driving home to Queensland, and had an absolutely delicious Ham & Cheese Toasted Croissant, excellent coffee and delicious tea! It was just after opening and the waiter was still waking up (his words...LOL) and got the coffee orders wrong, however they were corrected and replaced within moments so all good, and he was such a lovely guy! It was a Monday morning so very quiet, but I can imagine it would get very busy on weekends.

I chose Euro to cater for my baby shower and also make the cake. Everything was absolutely perfect. The cake was one of the most delicious I have ever tried (caramel mud cake). I love their online ordering and knowing I can trust them to have everything ready on the day. Thanks Euro 💛

We visited a nearby business who suggested we grab a coffee here. What a pleasant surprise! Great vibe, super busy with locals popping in for takeaway and lovely friendly staff to help us newbies grab a table 😁 The cakes and coffee are delish!

This was my 3rd visit & decided to dine outside at the rear. The outside area was dirty with stained cushions. The toilets were not clean & I could smell them. A group behind me walked out as I believe they were waiting too long to have their order taken. When I mentioned this to our waitress she was dismissive with a ‘don’t care’ attitude. I ordered the smashed avo bruschetta. The poached eggs were pre made & cold. No wonder my food arrived before my coffee

We've enjoyed cakes and cupcakes for different occasions from here over the years, including very recent birthday cakes, and it's always enjoyable. Can't comment on other products as never tried them. can get hectic and noisy when busy, and parking can be difficult. It's one of the go-to places for cakes, though.

Posting on behalf of my mum - Lee “I can't thank you guys and gals enough for the cake and cupcakes for our 18th celebration, even with a big travel ahead of them across country roads, they exceeded our expectations!”

(3.5 stars) Lamb and preserved lemon sausage rolls ($8.50/each) and all hot savouries had sold out before 12.30pm in sleepy suburban Maryville. While the Baked Uprising pastry counter still had some appeal, nearly everything was sweet rather than savoury. The potata bravas galette ($8.50) held promise, with its pastry laminated with Pepe Saya cultured butter, however with pumpkin in the mix it ate too sweet for my lunchtime hankering. It was also quite small, so I threw in a cardamom spice cake ($6.50) to fill out the corners, appreciating the cut-through of aromatic spice in the moist little cake. House-made flavoured sodas ($5/glass) lured me in with sour cherry, but again for this sugar-jaded palate, it came up tasting too sweet. The back-street converted warehouse setting offers a view into the bakery, which employs over fifty staff. There are also shelves of take-home products to browse, running from pickles and jams to breakfast items like muesli and baked loaves, all the way to decorate-your-own pavlova shells. Care has also been taken to create some attractive spaces to sit down outside in sunny weather and enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat.

Uprising Bakery has in house made croissants. I came here due to other recommendations of these being the best on the central coast and Newcastle. As a croissant enthusiast, I was excited. The plain croissant was okay, but nothing special. I have had much better at Burnt Honey Bakery, but that is a long way away.

This is my favorite pie and pastry shop. It’s always busy on weekends, but I just can’t give it up. A lot of people bring their dogs, and I often visit with my own pet too! The staff are generally friendly, but there have been a few times when they got confused with cash payments or gave the wrong change. Maybe they could consider using a calculator? Other than that, I really love this place! + It’s a shame that they don’t have decaf coffee here.

I bought a large and a small cake and a loaf of bread. Goodness me! Why hadn't I discovered this bakery before?! It has changed my whole life. You wouldn't know the real taste of bread unless you try their bread. The sweets are to di.e for. I've found my happy place.

Difficult to write a five star review as I found that the value for money is rated to be 6/10, parking is difficult, found one piece of bacon in the egg and bacon pie. Range of bakery products was lesser than expected as an artisan bakery and the delay to obtain a coffee order was quite lengthy; for a popular business, I’d expect morning coffees to be moving quickly out the door.

The traditional beef pie was fantastic, it's pasty done to perfection and a good combination of beef, gravy and seasoning. The pork and chutney sausage roll was okay, but nothing extraordinary. Tomato sauce went well with that. Would be great if they had dine in plates as it was difficult eating our pies when all the baked goods came in one paper tray

Went in with no expectations but keen for some good food. This place did not disappoint!! Super friendly staff as soon as we got there, offered water and drinks straight away. Came back after a few minutes to take our food order, very happy with the speed of service. Ordered the spring rolls, Garlic chicken, cashew and oyster chicken and the special fried rice. Spring rolls had a nice crunch to them but not overcooked, absolutely delicious! Garlic chicken is a go to for me anywhere I go for Chinese and this was fresh, didn’t feel heavy or too garlicky either. Serving size was great for my wife and I. Had some left over and we like to eat! Same with the cashew chicken.. my word that was delicious!! Will 100% be ordering that one again. So many cashews and the flavour was just perfect.. *chefs kiss* Only thing to take note of is the size of the special fried rice. We like to eat and ordered the serving for 3+ and that was good for the 2 of us. I recommend if you are a big eater.. get that one. Finished off with deep fried ice cream.. yum!! Try that one for yourself, no regrets! Satisfied and stuck on the couch. 5 stars!

Best Chinese Food in Newcastle ! Food is a little more expensive but well worth it. The portions of food served are much bigger and they actually give you a good serve of meat / prawns / vegetables in the dishes! Staff are friendly and service is super quick. Seating is more private and you are not cramped in at table and chairs like other restaurants. Food was delicious - especially the deep fried ice cream. Highly Recommend!!

Love the seating and lighting, they are classic. Food are fantastic! Love the stir fries rice noodles combination and deluxe stir fried rice . Crispy barramundi is another great choice to serve with wine or beer!

4 Adults. Every meal ordered was absolutely beautiful. Fresh, hot on delivery, large portion sizes. Prompt service, staff are welcoming and friendly. Have already recommended to friends and family. Definitely my new FAVOURITE restaurant.

I went to Sweet Poison for my 18th birthday cake and of course I had to come back for my 21st! I'm so happy with how my cake turned out! It was so delicious and the design was gorgeous. I gave them an idea of what I wanted and gave them some artistic freedom and I'm so glad I did! Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Sweet treats, sizable portions (almost a bit too much for me!) and a yummy iced chai. Was mostly OK to hangout here, came for dessert with my brother. Only issue was some guy working here was SUPER LOUD. He was behind the counter talking (well basically shouting) with other employees. Every time he opened his booming mouth my brother and I couldn't hear each other speak. Ruined what could have been a nice relaxing time catching up with someone I don't see often. Won't be going back to this place.

While I've always bought birthday cakes from here for their impressive craft and tasty nature, I was so disappointed to listen to the border-line bully-natured scolding that was delivered to the team of young girls working here. Seemingly, it was by a manager yelling loud enough for myself and a patron next to my table to hear (who also noted there were better ways to deal with issues), the content about "what was left for me on Saturday" clearly had this co-worker in a entitled, berating state blaming this team. I swear one of the waitstaff held back tears despite being professional enough to carry on with attending to tables. Regardless of the problem, this person displayed such unprofessionalism, no ability to deal with team members and a complete lack of awareness to how customers felt. Fair Work should do some secret shopping and pull up a seat, no doubt it'll happen again. Terrible.

Horrible vegetarian food. We ordered the veggie toastie which you can describe as an absolute disaster. 200% mushrooms (see the picture), not sure if that’s halloumi in there but it’s unbearable. I ordered an iced matcha as well. Don’t know where they get their information about making cold trinks, but that one clearly isn’t a matcha. Full of syrup and sugars (looks like caramel + cinnamon as well). I work as a barista and that really shocked me. If you want to eat healthy and maintain a low sugar diet this is your worst enemy. We also kindly asked for another drink which was declined by the staff. Never ever again!!! Go to the other cafes around

Staff were really helpful, as I have food issues and they were happy to give changes. Food was fresh and very very delicious. Everything cooked exactly how we asked for it. And the coffees were not screaming hot, awesome drinking temperature. Fast service. Good size meals. Will be back again.

We went here for breakfast, got the hash and whoa!! I was blown away by the intense flavour, presentation and perfectly cooked eggs!!! I wish I could eat here for the rest of my life. Best bang for your buck, fantastic and friendly service. Would highly recommend.

Nice cafe with decent food. The Persian scrambled was delicious, whereas the House Waffle was a bit too sweet for our taste. Cofee was good, service OK and the atmosphere good. We did like the outside seating.

This was the best breakfast experience I have ever had. The double espresso was perfectly extracted with natural sweetness and acidity. The hot chocolate and ice chocolate both divine with impressive latte art. The food was next level, such freshness and bold flavours, I could not pick a single flaw. I have never tasted bacon so well cooked in my entire life, crispy and delicious. The beetroot homous was so delicious, intense and creamy fetta, perfect hit of chilli and marinated chicken omg so good. The toast that came with it, was so crunchy and flavourful with a hint of nice olive oil and had a nice bit of grain in it as well. I am definitely coming back to this place again, the experience is a must. Friendly and fast service, absolutely wonderful atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We came for a few drinks and lunch. We shared the wings Cajun style. Where nice some were a little dry but still good. The nachos were amazing. Lots of beans and cheese sauce and the beef was so tasty just not enough of it lol. The max and cheese is like you get from America! The margaritas were nice I really like the tequila with fresh apply juice. Staff were down to earth and friendly!

Went there for my birthday tonight with a few friends and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was fantastic and cannot praise them enough. The food and drinks are absolutely worth the price. I had the chicken and waffle, and the chicken was perfection. I stole some nachos from my friends, the chicken and brisket was delicious and the jalapeno added a nice kick. Cocktails! Zombie was incredible, a perfect mix of rum and pineapple 🍍 Daiq-Till Death strong and sweet, so good! Ate there for the first time tonight. Best thing I've had in Newcastle. Had the Big Johns plate, was great, everything was spectacular the meat was great and the veg perfect. Never had cornbread before but I'm in love.

We had a great time having dinner here, the team were very attentive with service and the food / drinks menu was something different and to be excited about. Recommend you book a table for this busier nights of the week.

Sven the bar man really knows how to operate both a successful, vibrant cocktail bar and contemporary hospitality venue that services most desired "bar-esq" situations. They have vegan and biodynamic wines beers and cocktails Aswell as ample vegan and gluten free food offerings. My favorites are the a glass of the Doom juice rouge paired with some vegan Mac and cheese or the vegan jambalaya I'm hungry writing this ❤️

Staff are friendly. Cocktails have different and unique taste. The place was a bit noisy for us, but maybe alright for many.

Oh my goodness… like $11 for a large. That’s not a large it’s like 3 larges in 1, they are also hand cut and perfectly salted. These chips are delicious and definitely a bargain. I think that there was to much chips for that much, I don’t even know how they make profit off the price they sell it for. Good job guys :)

We ordered fish, chips, and burgers. The fish was overcooked on the outside but floury undercooked batter in the centre. The chips were overcooked to the point of crumbled potato centres. Didn't finish our burgers. Wouldn't return.

More batter than fish, found the chips to have little crunch, not sure why you would queue to make a purchase here again. Extremely oily than other fish stores, product are worth 1/2 the price. The education behind the counter of what a prawn cutlet is needs attended too. The business attracts some interesting derelict customers , it’s quite a show of whom they attract here.

Without even a shadow of a doubt, THE BEST CHIPS I HAVE EVER HAD. Not only are they exceptionally priced they are ALSO HAND CUT. It's an unbeatable combination. I've literally travelled from Sydney for these and it was absolutely worth it. I haven't been back since COVID but I am dying to go again. Glad they're not my local because you'd have to wheel me around on a gurney by this stage.

The battered savs were burnt ( the batter had come away from the whole sav) . The crumbed fish was burnt and it cost us $40 for the privelege of placing it all in the chook bucket. The chips were the only things we ate . At least someone/ something got to eat it. Extremely disappointed. Definitely won’t be back here.☹️

A good experience. Casual, take away vibe with plenty of tables and chairs. Friendly, upbeat staff who threw in an extra scallop. While seafood and chips were on the greasy side, they were still tasty, with a nice, zingy tartare. Huge serving of chips too.

We were there three weeks ago and the food was crisp and fresh. Today 16/8/23 bought the same food, because they had run out of scollops and crumbed fish, so we settled for hot chips, they were hot but were soggy and fused together in a lump, actually had to pull them apart to eat because they were in first sized lumps and extremely fatty, some seemed not properly cooked while others were overcooked and went mushy when pulled apart. Very disappointed and waste of money. We threw half away. Has ground control changed hands ,,😪 wont be recommending like I have before. Bye

What a great find after the fussiness of some other places. Spanking fresh, tasty, good value food served with love. You can see that their customers know they're lucky to have this on their doorstep. I'm leaving tomorrow early, but glad to see they open at 7am so I can slip in again on my way to the train.

Great place for coffee and a piadina. Pretty hard to find a piadina in Australia. Great value for the food options compared to most cafes in the area. The place is a little understaffed and can take a little while to get your food but it is worth it.

This is my new favourite place to stop for coffee and a brekky snack. I stumbled upon this little gem a few weeks ago when I was walking around the city centre and decided to give it a go. Their main menu item is Pinadinas, which is a homemade Italian flatbread served with a variety of fillings and optional chilli oil. The place is a total vibe. It’s quite fun and quirky, and they have a constant stream of regular customers who they all know by name. You can sit inside at the front of the cafe and watch all the action, or there’s seating towards the back of the cafe which is much quieter. They also have 2 tables out front in the footway. My favourite is the “vegetarian & egg,” and the “morning” is another I highly recommend. The coffee is also on point 👌🏻☕️😋

Food is amazing. I work across the road and I order a piadina every day. It's my go to. The ladies make you feel so welcomed and you can tell the food is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. You can really tell the difference in quality and freshness by how long you feel full for (without overeating unlike processed foods which make you hungry a couple hours later). And if you get the chance to do their gnocchi making class at night you must do it. Really fun and great to experience where the ladies heritage is from (spoiler: It's Umbria in Italy). Added bonus: I call ahead with my daily order so no need to wait. 10/10

We've only been here a few times, even though it's quite local for us. A relaxed, informal atmosphere inside, and relaxing views of the pond and ducks if you sit outside (but, obviously, there can be annoying mossies near any body of water). Staff are lovely, and are always accommodating of our young children. And food is lovely, with good sized portions, although one or two dishes I found a little salty for my taste. I will definitely be visiting again!

Used to live in this area and now we miss it - A LOT. We always bought the crab 🦀, so soft and flavour filled! It’s also great just as an afternoon stop. Prices of ice creams, cookies or even prawn chips occasionally are like $2! This place is awesome!

Ordered 2 coffees. 1 was a medium( more like small) iced coffee with almond milk and was charged $7.30. What a rip off. Basically a cold coffee( that is $4.70 )with ice. Nothing fancy. Would not recommend.

Got 6 cupcakes ,they look very tempting but taste was awful. The cupcakes were decorated nicely but only to deceive you. Full of sugar and not fresh at all. Cupcakes topping was really surgery and taste very bad. Had 2 of them and the test to the bin. Not recommended at all if you are looking for quality bakery.

I attended your cafe on Sunday 5th March to spoil my mum on a day out. As I work in the centre and spend a lot of money there I thought it would be lovely. My mum is a senior and showed the lady serving her senior card as there is a big sign on counter and the girl didn’t put it through as senior and charged her more. When we asked she said oh I forgot. And the blonde lady that was making coffees when the lady asked to fix it up and rolled her eyes and said so you want us to refund so you can get a discount. We were so polite and said yes please as we did ask the lady. She rolled her eyes again and spoke down to us. Never have I been treated so rudely. I asked for a refund and said that she didn’t have to to be so rude. Will never be going back and I will be letting the owner of the store no!!!!! Disgusting!!!! They made a mistake so just fix it and say sorry.

This was once my favourite coffee shop in Charlestown. I’ve filled up a few loyalty cards, but over the past 6mths or so has gone downhill. Coffee is still good, but service is shocking! Always appear to be understaffed in the mornings. This morning was told the shop does not open for another 15mins, but website clearly states opens at 7:30am. I went to another coffee shop and realised the coffee is also good elsewhere now too (service and price too) :) Thanks Fifi La Femme

This is hands down the best bakery in Newcastle—if not all of NSW! The staff are friendly, and the baked goods are exceptional. The Bootstraps are the standout, but everything here is amazing.

Each time I go the older lady is so rude to me. So condescending & obnoxious. I’ve even had friends notice it each time we go to order. I wonder if she realizes it! Foods ok. The younger girls are lovely The random, very short opening hours scream small town vibes. But that’s ok. If only the customer service was a little friendlier I’d be recommending it more often!

Bacon egg and roll was good but outrageous to charge 3.20 for small hashbrowns is robbery I can’t believe they charge that much any other small takeaway shop charges 2$ I paid 30$ for drink and 4 hashbrowns n bacon egg roll which is crazy !

Have been before and enjoyed their pies. The last two times I have tried their hot food takeaway and have been seriously disappointed. Today takes the cake, with an experience that has left me with inedible food and to top it off I was severely overcharged. Due to the staff being flustered and the lady in the back being extremely rude, I felt unable to discuss the issue of being charged $37.20 for a fish and chip pack valued $12.5 and a wrap that was $12.40. To complement the overcharging, we were met with a 30 minute wait with many people who ordered after us leaving before us. To top off this whole ordeal, the fish and chip pack was absolutely inedible. Avoid this place if you only want to be charged what you paid for and enjoy good food.

Best quiches in Lake Macquarie - busy little place but service is still friendly. Recently updated interior. Excellent hot chips 🍟 and large salad sandwiches. Large range, quite expensive though. Not much for vegetarians for meals - big range of pies. The place the local tradies all go for lunch.

I've tried to make this my local go-to bakery but every time I've been here I have been met with unpleasant staff. I could deal with the higher prices of their pies even though they fall apart in your hand but having to deal with their staff time and time again, is not worth it.

The cheese and mince pie had a really delicious filling but I felt like the pastry base didn't cook properly. I love a nice flaky top so I was a little sad when the lid was also a bit undercooked. The staff are really lovely and the shop looks great so I'll give it another go if I'm in the area in the future.

If I'm in redhead I make a beeline to redhead bakehouse to get a delicious coffee made exactly how I like it by one of the friendly staff members, I sometimes grab a pie or sausage roll, my favourite pies are the chunky steak and the creamy chicken, I also grab a loaf of bread and a cake for an afternoon treat.

Without a doubt the best pies, cakes and coffee in the area! The pies are so good it's hard to stop at just one. Sooo many options and always new and super tasty flavours to try. Can't go past the steak, cheese and jalapeno though 🤤 To top off the quality of their products is the quality of their staff. Always so happy and helpful no matter how busy.

If you're a fan of eclairs like me you absolutely must try Choux! They have a location in Newcastle, and they also come to Sydney every second Sunday at market. I recently tried their four different flavors: Mango and Lemon Cheesecake, Neapolitan, Strawberry and Basil, and Passion Fruit with Green Apple. All of them were incredibly fresh and delicious, with authentic flavors and no added sugar or artificial ingredients. The handmade eclairs were not only delicious but also looked beautiful with their pretty colours. One of the things I loved about Choux's eclairs was their light and delicate texture. They weren't too heavy or overpowering, which allowed the flavors to really shine through. It's clear that a lot of care and attention goes into making each eclair. I enjoyed every single one and highly recommend checking out Choux for their amazing eclairs!

I haven't actually had an eclair/choux I've enjoyed before eating these - they are so perfectly formed with a thin, light choux filled with smooth custard. The choux is airy but still moist, which is a first for me! Toppings are very well balanced in flavour, just enough sweetness and creaminess without overpowering the pastry. I also love the chocolate discs on top, so cute and make a great gift or treat 😁

Awesome eclairs! Always exciting new flavours. These pastries and fillings are of top quality, so smooth and creamy. Freshly made too. Love seeing the stall at local markets too! Can't leave without trying at least 4 everytime I walk past.

These are amazing! I picked up some eclairs for the staff where I work and they were gone as quick as I could pass them out. It doesn't matter what you try every eclair is unique and incredible with these guys. Definitely a treat worth going out of your way for. Can find these guys in Charleston square and the staff are lovely to talk to. Highly recommended.

My recent purchase was custom made birthday cupcakes ordered the day before via email. Can't express how thankful I am about the fast response to a last minute order with just a couple of photos for design. The cupcakes made the day! Came in for breakfast. It’s nice and open and the staff were lovely. Price was so reasonable. The b&e roll was pipping hot and tasty. Coffee was good. Definitely interested to go back for more.

Purchased 4 cakes/slices on a Monday. Would have thought these would have been placed in a box not paper bags. Lemon meringue tart was stale with filling being hard (binned it), flourless cakes with fruit slice on top were somewhat dry, the French vanilla slice was probably the best of a bad lot. Freshness is questionable, won’t be back.

I've walked by Vo's Bakery on Hunter St many times but finally popped in to this unassuming spot. I was immediately greeted by the friendly proprietor and I chose a bahn mi with pork and some chilli. I had to get a few other sweet treats too! The bahn mi is superb, full of freshness and flavour. Saw the reviews and thought I'd try it out. Definitely worth it for the bacon/egg roll, a perfect pick-me-up in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of glutenfree options as well. The cake variety are pretty adorable-looking. I had a lemon cake and it was soft and fluffy, with the perfect balance of lemon icing, both fresh and enjoyable.

Best proper custard tart I’ve eaten in a long time. Honestly these small unassuming bakeries are so much better and more affordable than a lot of the artisanal fancy bakeries and patisseries you see popping up everywhere. Highly recommend, support local businesses or they may close. Great GF options as well.

Ordered a takeaway Chai latte on soy. Drove away and discovered I was drinking warm milk with sprinkling of nutmeg? Couldn't taste any cinnamon. Unusual taste. To add insult to injury I also had an upset tummy and now suspect the milk was off because of the unusual taste. Not happy.

Originally I was just going to go to the Cheesecake shop to purchase a cake for my husbands birthday but then decided that we should go to our local bakery at Stockton. So glad we did!! Cake was so delicious and so incredibly moist. Whole thing was gone in 5 minutes. All the non-vegans were blown away about how good the cake was.
