Restaurant
Bistro Alighieri is a popular restaurant in the heart of Pula, Istria. It serves traditional Istrian dishes and small snacks, as well as wine and cocktails. You can dine inside or outside on the square.
Really great experience at Bistro Alighieri, offering more traditional Croatian cuisine. The menu has plenty of different options; there's seating area both inside and outside. The servers are very friendly, helping with decisions and presenting chef's meal of the day. Price was right for the location (almost near centre of Pula).

The place is nice and the staff was super friendly. We came just to eat a dessert, and we could sit outside, next to the fountain. However the Tiramisu was a huge disappointment. The cream had no flavor, overall I would not recommend it to anyone. The lemon cheese cake was a bit better. Water was quite expensive as well. Overall paying 19 euros for water and two cakes, which weren't amazing, makes it that I can't recommend it.
Christophe P — Google review
A lovely little bistro near the fountain square. We had a wonderful lunch here and tried the traditional noodles with truffle sauce - absolutely delicious. We also ordered Istrian red wine, which I can definitely recommend. The staff were lovely and the service was ok. The atmosphere was good.
Nataliia S — Google review
The food was the best we had in Pula! The location was also very nice, quiet and near a fountain. Highly recommend!

The best Cuttlefish Risotto I've ever tasted. It was so good, I forgot to photograph it. The restaurant service is great, food is hot and freshly cooked. Serving staff are friendly. This is a restaurant where the food quality speaks for itself. Nice prices, excellent food. Simple

Absolutely amazing food and service at Bistro Alighieri in Pula! We enjoyed perfectly cooked calamari, baby octopus, and the local pasta Pljukanci with creamy truffle sauce. The tuna cappuccio starter and Croatian wine made it a perfect evening. Highly recommended! — Paweł, Grzegorz & BiBi 🇭🇷✨
Pawel S — Google review
Alighieri was an absolute highlight of our time in Pula! We went all in and tried a variety of dishes — from the fresh and flavorful seabass carpaccio and octopus salad to the perfectly crispy fried squid and rich sea trio. The scampi spaghetti and veal Milanese were both standouts, and the beef steak was cooked just right. Sadly, we were too hungry to snap photos of everything — only managed to capture the pasta before diving in! We wrapped it all up with a classic tiramisu that totally hit the spot. The staff were super friendly, the drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere had just the right buzz. Huge shoutout to our Airbnb host for the recommendation — this place was honestly amazing. A must-visit for anyone in Pula!

Kantina Restaurant is a classic Mediterranean eatery located in the heart of Pula, housed in a historic 19th-century building near the Arch of the Sergii. The restaurant offers a terrace dining experience and serves a variety of seafood, meat dishes, and Istrian delicacies. With its focus on showcasing Istrian wine and produce, Kantina provides carefully presented food with truffles featuring prominently in many dishes. The contemporary decor adds to the overall dining experience at this lovely terrace restaurant.
Dining at Restaurant Kantina in Pula was an absolute delight from start to finish. The whole fish I ordered was nothing short of spectacular—fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavors that truly showcased the quality of local seafood. What made the experience even more memorable was the impeccable service. The staff delivered a level of fine dining hospitality that felt both professional and warmly personal.
Ebin Z — Google review
The food was absolutely delicious! We had traditional Istrian dumplings filled with ricotta and served with tomatoes and creamed parmesan in sage sauce. For a starter we got some cream cheese with truffles. House wine was also top. I highly recommend this restaurant to try some local dishes
Agata — Google review
Kantina Restaurant was a very beautiful surprise! We found the restaurant based on other very good reviews and we were more than satisfied. The restaurant is located a few hundred meters from Paula's center, and is very easy to reach. We had a full meal based on truffle dishes that were delicious. The waiter was extremely professional and kind and, in addition to our order, we have received a starter and a small amaro at the end of the dinner. Highly recommend!
Fabiana S — Google review
During our stay in Pula, we were looking for a good restaurant that could satisfy our different tastes. Kantina was our choice. Service was top-notch—super friendly and quick. The food was also excellent in terms of taste, and the portions were not small.

HIDDEN GEM - found this lovely restaurant on Google maps and decided to give it a go. It was a quiet Monday in April, so we didn't need a reservation. Our meal started with a lovely whipped cream cheese and truffle served with fresh homemade bread and a beetroot and balsamic drizzle. It was delicious. Next was the Istrian sausage. Presentation again beautiful served with rocket, walnuts and dried fruits (apricot and dates). This was finished with the thinnest of dried threads (think vermicelli) of chilli. Main courses were traditional pasta of Pljukanci with Smoked Gilt-Head Sea Bream and Adriatic Prawns / Pljukanci with Boškarin beef giravolta and goat cheese. Both again 10/10. It's a shame it's our last night here as we'd definitely be visiting again!
Mike K — Google review
A memorable start to our trip in Pula. We loved that this was off the main tourist strip and enjoyed sitting out on the terrace which wasn’t too busy. Fresh seafood and lovely service! Thank you team.
Louisa S — Google review
I had an incredible dining experience at Kantina Restaurant. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the beefsteak with truffles—perfectly cooked and rich in flavour. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. If you're in Pula, Croatia and looking for a place that serves top-quality dishes with a touch of gourmet flair, Kantina is a must-visit.

Good service, good food. A bit salty tuna but nice quality and very nice taste of smoked grill. The vegetables that came with were perfectly grilled/fried and seasoned.

Restaurant
Ribarska Koliba restaurant in Pula boasts a rich tradition spanning over a century, earning it the moniker 'The Taste of the Sea.' Situated at the beginning of the Verudela peninsula, this establishment offers a stunning view of the marina from its terrace. Specializing in Istrian, Mediterranean, and continental cuisine, Ribarska Koliba prides itself on using seasonal ingredients and fresh seafood sourced from local suppliers.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding night dinner at Ribarska Koliba and everything from the service to the food to the ambiance was excellent. We were well taken care of for the entire evening. Our server was kind, friendly, and professional, and had good suggestions for a wine pairing with our seafood dishes. The restaurant was very in tune with our celebration and made our special day even brighter with amazing food and an homage to our homeland of Canada with a Celine Dion soundtrack in the background! The food was simply delicious and a true reflection of our proximity to the sea. The view of the marina from the dining room was gorgeous. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic setting with incredible service and food.
Caity H — Google review
This restaurant is the perfect choice for those who want to sit right by the sea and enjoy a beautiful view and an intimate atmosphere. No crowds, no noise, just pure enjoyment and relaxation. The food was outstanding – fresh and high-quality, perfectly prepared. The fish was succulent, and the side dishes were light and perfectly complemented the flavors. The staff was incredibly professional and discreet, giving us plenty of privacy. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Mediterranean experience with an emphasis on fresh fish and a relaxed atmosphere.
Villa M — Google review
Michelin recommended restaurant is judged in the different categories than my normally visited places, that should be clear 😃 Black risotto I enjoyed a lot, perfect fit with olive oil and seafood. Traditional Croatian pasta with tomato sauce, ricotta and 6 shrimps - hmm, not in the same level of taste, presentation and experience, but same price as black risotto. We needed to wait sone time for a bill and card terminal, but it was just because of a lazy Sunday. In general - nice place, worth visiting.
Kuba U — Google review
What a gem ! This restaurant is probably the best one we have been to in Pula. We ate there 3 times it was that nice. The fish was fresh, desserts were stunning and the view on the marina was amazing. The service was excellent, special thank you to Kristina who made sure our experience was memorable.
Mathilde S — Google review
This is not a high quality restaurant, it's rather Istrian avarege+. We booked a table for our anniversary and because of the Michelin recommendations. It was good, a bit different than everywhere else where you have the same menu. Nice to try, yet still really nothing special. The service wasn't great, the waiter seemed like he needs to rush everytime he approached our table, even though there were just few tables to serve. Saying this I'd come back, but I'd rather come without any "Michelin expectations".
Bogna — Google review
I travelled to Vietnam and Malaysia in June of 2025 and engaged in a hunt for every Michelin starred and nod eatery so I’m Asian geared for Michelin restaurants. This one was excellent with a great wine list and exceptional service, but I was not blown away by the food and I’ve come to expect that from a Michelin establishment. That said, I ate there twice! Free parking.

We had a great dinner at this amazing restaurant. The food, beginning from the starters till the dessert is lovely decorated well seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Service is hospitable and the ambient is amazing. The prices are a bit higher but worth it. Great view at the harbor but still a quiet location - highly recommended!

Restaurant
Farabuto is a slightly formal yet unpretentious restaurant located in the southern part of town, tucked away in a quiet residential cul-de-sac. The menu features Istrian-style Italian-Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on risotto, ravioli, local prosciutto, and an abundance of seafood such as mussels, squid, octopus, tuna, and bluefish.
Very good experience. The place is extremely quiet and cozy, the atmosphere is very relaxed elegant and informal at the same time. The menu is short enough to ensure high quality food, but wide enough to allow the customers to choose between a solid variety of dishes. Our waiter spoke both in English and Italian, we appreciated it. She also explained perfectly the dishes when brought to the table. Home made bread was a nice surprise too. We came here to eat fish, we ate fish and we were happy about it. 85€ in three people, amazing price-quality ratio. We also ordered the cheesecake, honestly it wasn't great, but that does not ruin an amazing dinner.
Lorenzo F — Google review
A wonderful seafood dinner. The restaurant is located a bit outside of Pula, which makes it quieter and more relaxing. Fair prices and friendly service. Highly recommended!
Davide A — Google review
One of the only two fine dining restaurants worth visiting in Pula. The food is superb (try the sea platter for two as an appetizer) and the staff is just perfect. Most of the menu changes regularly, so it is hard to recommend a particular dish, but if you see octopus or a shell risotto for two, don’t skip!!
Kresimir D — Google review
Everything was amazing! This restaurant was recommended by our airbnb host :) Just when we sat down we were already served fresh homemade bread. For drinks we’ve had the open house wine which was really good. We’ve had the fish soup as a starter which was great. As the main course we’ve shared the mixed mussels and the baked fish covered with pine nuts and almonds which was really really good. As a desert we’ve shared a lemon cheese cake which was - again - amazing. Staff was friendly and the location is nice and quiet. The wait for the food was a bit longer than we were used to in Croatia, which we didn’t mind since it was a good sign that everything was freshly made. Would definitely recommend eating here :)
Sarah H — Google review
Grear experience if you'd like to visit a restaurant closer to the residential area of Pula. We had ordered the octopus stew, the tomato soup, the fried fish with potato salad and 4 glasses of wine. In addition to that they brought us free homemade bread. The bread was brilliant, warm and very tasty. The wine was extremely cheap and also really good! The food was not cheap. The service was excellent. Would probably revisit for their bread and wine.

Almost too good to be true. The friendly, knowlegeable and attentive service, the attention the chef is paying to all the little details, the fantastic Croatian wine menu ... Every single dish we had here was cooked to perfection: Seafood, local lamb, pasta, the delicious sweets - WOW! Of course we visited the "crook" ("Farabuto" in Italian) more than once. So happy I could celebrate my birthday here - looking forward to our next visit. Definitely on my all-time top ten list.

I was so excited to eat a truffle fish, unfortunately they changed their menu and don’t often serve truffle. Nevertheless, I had amazing tuna steak. Can definitely recommend! They even served home made bread which was delicious!

Old City Bar Pula is a popular pub-like establishment known for its lively atmosphere and sports screenings. It features two large screens strategically placed around the spacious bar counter, which is adorned with tall stools for patrons who prefer pints of beer. In addition to its vibrant ambiance, the bar also offers a kitchen that serves delicious burgers, cevapi, and grilled fish. Guests have the option to enjoy their meals indoors or outdoors on the terrace, where red-checked tabletops add a touch of charm.
This bar in the heart of Pula’s old city is hands down one of the best spots in town. It’s not just a bar – it’s a perfectly designed mix between a laid-back pub and a vibrant event venue. The attention to detail in the interior makes it instantly welcoming, with a warm yet edgy vibe that reflects the spirit of the old city. They’ve nailed the beer selection – whether you’re into local craft brews or classic favorites, there’s always something interesting on tap. The events are always well-curated, from live music and DJ nights to cultural happenings, making each visit feel unique. But what truly sets this place apart is the team behind it. Super friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about creating a great atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you come for a drink and end up staying for the vibe. If you’re in Pula, don’t miss this spot. It’s where the city’s energy meets great taste.

Best Bar we found after years in Pula. Markus was a great Barkeeper. The big smile always brings us back there.
Stefan S — Google review
The cheese plate was really good and the garlic bread is really delicious. The main courses themselves were perhaps not quite to our taste. The salmon pasta was in tomato sauce. However, the portions were quite edible. Our waiter was perhaps newer and a bit clumsy. But she served with a smile and kindness.
Anu K — Google review
The restaurant was simply good, but not the greatest. The staff was friendly, however there was one server that was visibly starting to work so he was a bit messy. The food was also ok. My grilled calamari were a bit too long on the grill, but they were good anyway. However, the fried calamari were mediocre. From other dishes the pasta di mare was very tasty, the pizza was also just ok, same as cevapi. The spot outside was very nice, and the inside of the bar is one of the very few places in the world where you can still smoke inside.
Kornel K — Google review
Old City Pub Pula Really nice & gentle on a weekday, weekends I hear are different 🤣 Plenty of space in a lovely square, just off the beaten tourist track. Food is good but with ok service, not attentive. Sports shown on numerous TVs indoors & out without volume as not to disturb?? Weekends I'm told are vibrant with this one of the stops on the Beer crawl routes, could be good
Gregg L — Google review
At a place where mediocre coctail costs 12.50 euro I'd expect at least a decent service. We've been visited by a waiter just once to take our initial order, we had to chase them up to pay our bill. Do waiters not realize that if they would do a better service, we might spend more? 🙄 Disappointing

The staff is known for being friendly, professional, and accommodating. Guests have praised the high-quality food options on the diverse menu and the excellent service provided at Navetta.
Everything was so so good! The serving is large, and the plates are beautiful. Would definitely come again! And make sure to try the souffle!

Went twice in short span, staff service was on the ball, great effort from them. Food was great, selection is pretty wide from pizza to fish and meat dishes. Salads also available.. desserts seasonal which is understandable although maybe an addition of fish platter for two to the menu would be great since we are on the coast. Small oversight from the kitchen staff on the second visit, table for 7 and one meal was missed/ not ready since they read the order wrong (1x instead of 2x) hence 4 stars. Recommend in any case.
Jurica K — Google review
We were delighted to participate in a special dinner at this beautiful trattoria/restaurant. It is located in a beautiful place not far from the center of Fazana, surrounded by woods and greenery. The atmosphere is great, for complete relaxation. An ambience that can only be desired, provides complete warmth and comfort. The staff is extremely friendly, professional and organized. It was a bit chilly outside so we were accommodated in a cozy and nice part of the indoor lounge. The dishes they prepare are a mix of traditional Istrian cuisine with the influences of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. The flavors are expressive and rich, complemented by the aromas of local, original and traditional cuisines. For a cold appetizer, we took Istrian prosciutto with sheep cheese, Folpi salad, Salted anchovy fillets with onion and arugula and white cod. It was all extremely tasty. Then we continued with the extraordinary mixed shellfish, by the way the sauce was unforgettable. The main course was based on seafood so grilled sea bream and sea bass fillet, grilled and fried squid, and shrimp were a complete hit and we enjoyed every bite. All praise Chef. Since I adore cakes for dessert, I ate a lemon cream cake, which is fantastic. The good impression was complemented by a rich selection of good white and red wines. We definitely recommend this outstanding restaurant.

The food was fine, terrace and ambient very nice. Staff was very kind and professional. Main dish was great - tuna steak and fusi with gambers and courgettes. The downside was starter dish - plate with local cheese and pršut. It was very small portion, two pieces of pršut (which was excellent), few pieces of cheese (which was ok), but there were some salami which looked and tasted like store-bought, which was a disapointment. The price of the starter dish definitely wasn't justified with what we got.

I stopped by to get some bakery items, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The lady at the counter was extremely rude. I had just arrived and didn’t even have the chance to look at what they were selling before she started rushing me. Her communication and manner were terrible. I understand it’s the end of the season and people might already feel tired of tourists—I also work in customer service, so I get it—but that still doesn’t justify being openly rude to customers.
Éva K — Google review
Products from dough (dizano tijesto) are tasty and very good price taking into account size and quality. Products from puff pastry (lisnato tijesto) are very chewy and really not so good. I haven't tried pizza, but if they are using pizza dough, it should be tasty. I recommend Piroške with walnuts or any other filling.

Ermittler69 — Google review
Other reviews gave this such a high rating I was expecting to love it. However the chocolate croissant was chewy and not all the way cooked. The chocolate donut thing was like chewing on raw dough and the sausage wrapped was also not so well with the quality. The price was super cheap, I guess u get what you pay for or they were just having a bad day, not sure but we will not be returning to find out. There are many other places to explore and try..

We got breakfast here every morning during our stay in Pula. The pastries were tasty and delicious. The meat burek was by far my favorite.
Matthew A — Google review
The meat borek is ridiculously good and was only €2.80

Bakery

I experimented with two different bakeries, one being a well-known chain called Mlinar, and the other a smaller chain known as Brionka. Both establishments offered an impressive range of bakery goods at reasonable prices. However, some of the outdoor seating areas at these places tend to attract local pigeons, which can disrupt the peaceful atmosphere occasionally. Mlinar is a bakery with multiple shops in town that provides an extensive selection of sweet treats and savory options containing meat.
Croatian bakery chain, with very tasty food, this one is located in Pula city centar, near the old market, has a big terrace, and a caffè. From sandwich to bread, everything is here, they offer breakfast also, didn't try, the pastry do is really good, backed few times a day. Good coffee. Very busy during the day.
Goran — Google review
Prices: they put prices up in Summer. That should be against the law. Terrace: they have tables outside, but nobody comes to serve you, but when you go into the shop and ask them to order, they tell you to go and sit down and wait. Super service 😅 Atmosphere : they have blaring music inside and can hardly hear you when you give your order. Positive: this bakery is the only bakery in town to be open all year round and late into the evening.

On our last day in Pula, on a Friday morning we decided to have breakfast at this specific Mlinar bkery around 10-11 am as we find their pastries very tasty. The place was full and there were only about two waitresses working at the tables so it was already a task to get their attention to be able to order and we waited for about 15-20 minutes for our hummus egg sandwiches to arrive but we were quite fine with this all. However, when our sandwiches finally arrived and we started eating we had to be disappointed as the slices were dry. I asked one of the waitresses for more hummus explaining to her that there is basically none on my slices to which she replied to me that it is not possible to add extra hummus in the cash register thus I cannot pay for more and she cannot give me more, it is not a restaurant so I can eat it like this or leave it. I attached a picture of how little hummus there was on my bread. The little salad on the side was also without any salt, pepper, and olive oil, just plain salad. Very poor service even for a ‘not a restaurant’, and I would also not recommend their breakfast options, however the pastry is nice.

New menu reflects on new co. ownership change, bad decision, won't see me again. Bad coffee, disgusting eggs made by non trained Philippine ladies. Bad, bad!
Alan V — Google review
Coffee is terrible, every time I sit there I forgot that they are really slow and sometimes they bring you the wrong order as well. Bakery was ok before, now you can see it for yourself, plus that pizza costs 3 Euros. They spike prices up each summer season because of tourists. Up until when?? When they realise there's much cheaper and maybe better places to visit..
Mario R — Google review
They almost don't add milk for cappuccino!!!! They don't want to add it! We said we wanted more even for a fee, no reaction!
Alona B — Google review
Bakery with a few shops in town. They offer a large variety of sweet food or with meat. Each item costs maximum 2€ which is really affordable. I suggest to take few of them and share it to taste plenty of those. Don’t except a high quality meal, but it is decent enough for the price. Too bad that some of them a bit to oily.
Daniston F — Google review
Great place for a quick breakfast, had the scrambled eggs on toast and coffee. The food, drinks and service were excellent. The prices are fair and kind of cheap, for been one of the few places to get eggs and ham for breakfast.

Mlinar Caffe is a great spot for remote work, offering a peaceful environment to charge up your laptop while enjoying some delicious food and drinks.
Mlinar, good pastries and coffee
Alexandr — Google review
Unfortunately the coffee is produced by an automatic machine... So nothing really special The food is okeish, I cannot complain. If you are hungry and you cannot find anything else around, this place will be fine.
Evangelos K — Google review
Food is okay, staff is extremely rude. They charge me a higher price than the one written on the menu in the tables, the person at the counter coursed me, grabbed the menu from the tables and literally throws it behind the cash register. I felt really uncomfortable and treated as badly as if I were a thief. Sad for this. Börek was good
Lorenzo P — Google review
Good bakery, but coffe is overpriced (2 eur for coffe in paper cup?). 🙄Price of yoghurt is also quite high (1.8 eur) - I remember the times then normal price was 0.4 eur (few years ago). 🤑 I had a chicken burek here and I was suprised that I liked it more than traditional one ( with beef )

We have spent 4 days in Pula and we got breakfast every day here. Good coffee, good price and great service. Recommended!

Was working remotely from Mlinar. You can charge up your laptop there and eat, drink in peace.

Got our order wrong but most importantly the staff is very rude. They didn't even want to refill toilet paper in the bathrooms. Avoid it.
Tiago V — Google review
Low prices and very tasty. Great place for breakfast or coffee break.

Very good pizza, light, fresh, and full of flavor. Perfect for takeaway or a quick bite just across a lot of bars. We came back right away for more. Absolutely the best pizza i had in Pula yet!
