French restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Carcassonne, France, Comte Roger is a stylish restaurant offering refined regional dishes and an extensive selection of French wines. The bright and contemporary space includes a leafy garden terrace for al fresco dining. Specializing in Carcassonne delicacies such as ham, chicken gizzards confit, duck and goose confit, chocolates de la Cite, and more, the restaurant also boasts a good reputation for its fine cassoulet.
Since we were in the region, where Cassoulet is abundant, we decided to take our hosts suggestion and go to the place where even the Michelin guide says you should go. It was about 8:30 PM on a Wednesday night so we rolled the dice and decided to give it a try even though we didn’t have reservations. Though the place was nearly full, the host greeted us and we explained that we were really looking forward to having dinner with them. He spoke possible English and I speak passable French so we figured it out. Something must’ve clicked because he said wait just a couple of minutes. As we were doing so several other servers came up to see if we’d been greeted, all of them, indicating that there were no seats available. So glad that we found the right guy! Please note that none of the other servers were unpleasant, they just knew how busy things were. We were seated outside and with the evening at a pleasant temperature, the setting really was magical. In fact when we went in to use the restroom inside, we were happy that we had gotten the patio as the noise level was a little louder than we would’ve preferred for that particular evening. That initial greeting set the tone for the whole evening. All of the staff were super friendly, went out out of their way to make us feel welcome, and that out desires were being met for the evening. When the waiter brought us the menus, I told him that we heard their Cassoulet was outstanding and we didn’t need them. He got a good chuckle and let us know that we were making a good choice. All of the advice was exactly correct. The meal was stupendous! We had both had the dish elsewhere in the past, but nothing compared to what we were served. Speaking of that, The service was impeccable. In fact, it was so wonderful that I signaled the manager who came over and let her know what a great evening we had had. And that all of their staff was to be commended. A lot of times it’s wise not to believe the hype, but this time it was definitely true. Sure, you can get the dish elsewhere, but not in this atmosphere and not at this level of perfection. A small bit of advice, I’m pretty sure we were fortunate to get a seat as we saw multiple couples and groups turned away after we arrived. So make a reservation. You really do want to eat here :-)
Mark B — Google review
My husband and I didn't have a dinner reservation so were given a table outdoors which was fine since the weather was nice. However, there were many trees in the outdoor seating area and a very small leaf would occasionally fall onto the table or my glass of water. The menu had 3 vegan options and we ordered all of them: hummus and two vegetable dishes (which looked alike in presentation except one was warm because it was cooked in broth). The portion size seemed small but was actually filling. Food was delicious. Staff was busy but relatively efficient, and spoke English.
Ying L — Google review
We were really looking forward to this restaurant based on reviews and all the awards they carry. Once you get into a terraced restaurant, you come into a well shaded spot. All the reservations start at 730 and restaurant gets filled in very fast. Our first impression was good, owner walking around welcoming guests, his wife at the counter taking payments. You really feel they are invested into it. The problem though comes when you taste the food. We had mi-cuit foie gras which was nicest dish out of the whole dinner. We also shared tart with pan seared foie and that was a disappointment. Foie was way overcooked making it a thin slice of crisp with no flavour or texture. But biggest disappointment came with mains. My husband had a duck break which was well overcooked and we sent it back. It is served with pop corn ( weird combination not sure why you would do that) and some additional sauces. Dish had no balance, it was all ultra sweet, we didn’t finish it. I had a veal tartare, which was another strange creamy dish with lack of flavour. Fried potato churros were over oily. We spend over 180 euro for 2, and even though our dishes weren’t event half finished no one bothered to ask what happened. They were way to busy to provide good attentive service. Unfortunately, very disappointing experience we were really looking forward to. We had lunch in restaurant La marquire same day and it was a million times better from food to service.
Victoria L — Google review
Attentive service, great food and wine, and a lovely atmosphere. I wasn’t the only solo diner, which made it feel relaxed and welcoming. The staff were immediately understanding about my gluten intolerance and offered options, even bringing gluten-free bread. The duck was excellent, though I’d have liked a touch more veg to balance it out. And the poached pears were yum. Would recommend booking, especially if you want to sit indoors at this time of year.
El — Google review
We enjoyed a lovely dinner in shaded outdoor area. The vines and lights above create a nice setting. The cassoulet was packed with flavour and full of meats. It was a generous portion and with starters and a side salad I was full! This cassoulet looked like the best one in the old town, highly recommended if you're in Carcassonne old town.
Matthew L — Google review
Superb food and wine, very good service (and helpful staff happy to answer questions and explain ingredients.) The sea bream with ravioli and fennel was absolutely delicious! So much so I had it two days running! Recommended!
Eleanor D — Google review
We were a party of four with 2 dogs; we sat at a large corner table on the shady terrace. Service: knowledgeable, attentive and kind. Water was brought for the dogs without asking. Food: the cassoulet was our universal choice and did not disappoint! If you have a small appetite one between two would be adequate. Aperitifs: kir with cassis very good, kir with pèche was amazing. Red wine: Pinot noir was the perfect match. Desserts: perfect. A memorable afternoon.
Valerie S — Google review
Amazing food with a friendly service. The cassoulet was fresh and full of flavour. Just what we needed after a VERY long and exciting day wandering around the city. We forgot that dinner starts at 7, but the staff were so understanding, and seated us early. We were the only people in the restaurant. Thank you again for going above and beyond.

The Canal du Midi is a 240-kilometer waterway that stretches from Toulouse to the Etang de Thau, featuring 63 locks and 350 engineering structures. Travelers can enjoy tranquil journeys by cycling along the old towpaths or leisurely cruising on a barge, taking in the picturesque French landscapes of lush fields and charming villages.
Great route for cycling, Bordeaux to Narbonne ( jumps about a bit in places but not difficult to get back on track). Shady for much of the route and flat throughout, taking in beautiful towns and countryside.
Gavin M — Google review
Canal Du Midi from Toulouse to Narbonne. By bike September 2019 This is a great experience and very physical intensive.but a lot of joy and a good way to strengthen your body. The first step from Toulouse to Castelnaudary it's quiet relaxed and the path on the side of Canal du Midi make it easy to get along. But you always hear the high way where the cars making there own sound but still you feel happy peddling along the old Allees beside the water. The following route to Carcassonne needed more Intension for the path it was paved with little stones, occasionally some roots and wholes make it difficult to bike fast. The third part till Narbonne was even more difficult and because of some tree disease they had to cut almost all the old trees and planted new once but this couldn't give you an enjoyable feeling. The good part was that the high way was to fare away to hear. Nevertheless the people you meet on the Canal Du Midi in Bike, Hiking or on a Boot are always very friendly and all in all take as much time you can to be able to explore the villages on the Canal try the good food and the great wine they produce in the area and look out that you have always enough water with you.
Friedbert R — Google review
The quiet tree shaded bicycle path along the canal is a dream for cyclists.
Seimen B — Google review
Picturesque, slow pace, towns adjoining, a very French experience. We enjoyed our stay, 10 days was too brief even with two days before and after in central Toulouse, 14 total.
Jim H — Google review
I preferred the section away from the road. The staircase lock we passed was interesting. The locks are big as the vessels passing through are also a fair size. The canal is perhaps a little over 10m wide.
Gary K — Google review
I expected some slightly better surfaces. Most of it was quite poor, with potholes, rough large gravels and tree roots. It's also badly signposted in places. Don't try it with normal road tyres. Most people were on electric bikes with fat tyres. I won't be back.
Boberto J — Google review
A bucket list exsperience and must do. Relaxing holiday by selfdriven boat while enjoying southern France's vinos and old villages.

Keep in mind the canal is not a single point on the map, the pin took me somewhere random that wasn’t that pretty

Nestled within the historic heart of Carcassonne, La Barbacane is a sought-after restaurant located in the neo-Gothic gem of Hotel de la Cite. The menu at this culinary highlight champions the region's abundant terroir, featuring top quality ingredients such as Mediterranean fish and seafood, game, and mushrooms. With its classic cuisine and beautiful terrace, it offers a delightful dining experience that adds a new spin to classical recipes.
A special place. Fine dining in a castle, doesn’t get much better than that! The setting and atmosphere was a lot better than the food. They weren’t trying too hard to maintain their Michelin rating. However, overall it’s just something special. Of course you’d get better one star food elsewhere but would it have the setting? No.
Lift_Run_Eat_ — Google review
This beautiful restaurant is a wonderful experience in food, fine dining and excellent people. During our lunch, we enjoyed local cuisine prepared to perfection. Merci beaucoup!

A lovely place richly decorated. Setting was beautiful. Service impeccable. Sommelier very helpful! Servers prompt and doting but not intrusive. The cheese trolley was amazing! The whole experience 5 stars. But… food does not wow you. They had everything else except great food. It was good but did not keep up with the standard of everything else Good to visit to experience a 5star service and setting but don’t expect the same from the food
Colette T — Google review
We had our anniversary dinner here and absolutely loved it! I would definitely recommend booking in advance, we were very lucky to get a cancellation seat. We had the seasonal tasting memory and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and the service was fantastic! The staff were so friendly and attentive - couldn’t fault anything. It was a windy/rainy night when we were there so we definitely want to return on a sunny evening to enjoy the outdoor seating.
Leah G — Google review
We have been traveling in France for one month and a half, and this has been one of the greatest culinary experiences. All the dishes were delightful, but the duck breast was totally amazing. The service was also great and we had a lovely night.
Florencia M — Google review
From the time you sit down into this magnificent courtyard, everything is magical. Gauthier was incredible to council for the wines and Paul was looking after us all evening with clockwise precision !!! It got a bit fresh at the end of the meal and they moved us to comfortable leather armchairs inside for dessert. Nothing was too much for service. Food was crescendo, surprising tastes to start and tease your taste buds to the climax of desserts. Thank you !!

Live music Funky Divas played while the sun set over the castle: great view great atmosphere and food. During the summer great concerts and live music in a beautiful romantic garden. Hard to beat. The staff at the hotel is friendly and the food is lovely. Very nice cocktails and aperitifs before a night out or adter a long day. A new night spot in Carcassonne.
Agat B — Google review
Memorable meal in Carcassonne, late September 2019. The maîtres d'hôtel could not find our reservation, but they were polite and found a nice table for us. The room is marvelous. We splurged on the expensive tasting menu, which provided one surprising item after another. All were beautiful, innovative and delicious. We also ordered the wine pairings, and the discussions with the young sommelier were a delight. Wonderful wines. And the service could not have been more attentive, graceful, and warm. Everything was elegant without being stiff or pompous. In a word--perfect. Deserving of its Michelin Star status. I adored the meal but the amount of food and wine was staggering. A dazzling procession of complex, clever, decorative, refined dishes — so much food! A plate of fish with accompaniments, a plate of beef with accompaniments, pork with accompaniments, and THREE desserts, AND a new wine with each item. Fabulous, but not something to do often! Next time I’ll choose something simpler at this lovely restaurant. Mais je ne regrette rien. To top it all off — the walk to the restaurant from our abode on Rue Longue was especially beautiful. Sunny as we walked up to the medieval city, and then magically moonlit as we walked home several hours later. I recommend!

La Brasserie Du Dome - Chez Fifi is a charming eatery nestled in the heart of Carcassonne, perfect for those looking to indulge in local flavors. Housed in a former brewery, this delightful brasserie boasts a cozy atmosphere and has become a favorite among locals. The menu features an array of delectable dishes, with highlights including their renowned homemade cassoulet—a hearty dish that showcases duck leg confit, Toulouse sausage, and tender pork pieces.
Visited in the last hour as arrived late to Carcassonne. Wanted to taste the local specialty - cassoulete - and it was amazing! I must say i was very hungry, but it was huge and i couldn't finish it...but tried. Specially tasty was a duck leg confit, and also Toulouse sausage and pieces of pork. Again, just this meat was too much for me, be i eat it all in the end. With glass of red wine recommended by waited i was very satisfied from this dish.
Tomi V — Google review
The local dish the casoulette was tasty, although the tartar is not recommended. It's not prepared, just few of ingredients and you have to mix it yourself. For this I wouldn't ask it in restaurant, I would prepare it at home. As well, the place is full of flies
Elena G — Google review
Cosy and comfortable restaurant, a good place to try French cuisine and the local specialities. The place is more frequented by locals, being a bit off center. The food is good and comes in big portions and sensible prices. Try cassoulet, which is a speciality of Languedoc and is a dish with meat and beans, slowly cooked in a casserole. Dog friendly
Irene C — Google review
Fabulous food at a reasonable price
Philip J — Google review
Nice atmosphere and the waitress (both) was very nice. The older man seems a little grumpy and gets even more grumpy if you have bad french (quite funny really). The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Recommend the salads and the coffee is of good quality. Seems like a lot of locals go there which is a good sign.

Home made foie gras, delicious!
Jean D — Google review
Good food, good service and friendly staff. We decided to have both the starter and mains special of the day both were excellent. Our starter was an excellent salad, our main course was pork cooked on the rib with onion and mushroom along with fries, pork was really succulent, we finished our meal with tarte tatin as French a desert as you can get. Finished off with coffee and local Carcassonne liqueur creme de menthe, liquid after eight, all this for around €40, if we return to Carcassonne we'll be happy to return here.

The location is really good for visiting the old city. Our room has a nice quirky modern design touch. The very charming hostess Sophie took very good care by contacting us in advance because of restricted check-in times.
Frank P — Google review
Spartan, but large, converted second-floor room above a restaurant and bar, but great location near the old city with fun shops along the way, and near the Aude River foot bridge and park, nice street view from the big windows (for my room). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast was good.
Ervan D — Google review
We stayed for a week in Carcassonne and ate lunch and dinner at many different restaurants. By a country mile our dinner at Bloc G was the best of all the meals we had. It looks quite unassuming from the outside and you might be tempted to walk by but please don’t! It’s always a good sign when the patrons are locals and when we dined it was all locals eating with us. We went for the tapas menu, and had the beef with wasabi, the lamb, the shrimp rillettes, the tapinade and the mozzarella with tomato salad. The portion sizes were perfect and the flavours were amazing. For dessert we had the home made chocolate cake which was rather like a brownie. Again it was perfect - not too sweet and not too heavy. If you are in Carcassonne I really recommend you give Bloc G a try!
Simon B — Google review
The service was extremely slow, children were allowed to run around and disturb us. We only had a starter and main but we were charged the full price of a 3 course even though the option was extremely limited to a chocolate gateau as other options had finished, but as we don't like that we were offered ice-cream, we declined. So disappointed. Will not return.

L'Escargot is a charming restaurant located in the center of Carcassonne Old Town, offering a mix of classic French dishes and snail-focused delicacies. The ambiance is casual and relaxed, with outdoor seating available to enjoy the beautiful castle setting. The menu features a variety of tapas options alongside more substantial dishes, catering to different preferences and even offering a children's menu. The restaurant also boasts an incredible underground seating area that adds to its old-world charm.
The food was delicious 🤤, the staff was very polite and welcoming. We waited 40 minutes to be seated, so it’s better to book in advance. The only downside was that the clean plates and cutlery were covered in grease.
Olesia D — Google review
Excellent vegetarian food, especially the Saint Marcelin cheese prepared in the oven with grated green apple and the baked pasta with black trumpet mushrooms. The chocolate coulant and vegan mojito were also great. Lovely service and they had an indoors seating area with AC and a high chair for the baby. Quite a fair price too, considering drinks, a few dishes to share, and a dessert came to about €20 per person.
Elchanan S — Google review
On a 40C day they offered a delicious gazpacho as a starter as part of their set menu which went down extremely well, even though the restaurant itself was a furnace for those not acclimatised to the heat! Well cooked food and friendly service.

We enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. Service was excellent. We were asked whether we liked air conditioning. They then led us to an air-conditioned place, making it very comfortable for us to enjoy the lunch in a hot day. Their staff also speak very good English. We chose the three course menu. Price was very reasonable. The dishes were delicious. The grilled squid dish was very good. The beef skewer was perfectly done to my preference: medium rare. The chocolate dessert was tasty too.
Kaywah C — Google review
From the second Tomas answered the phone for our reservation, we understood that he was the positive energy of the place; sometimes one person just makes the whole difference and here it is like this: we knew we were in good hands! This boutique restaurant has only a few in- and outdoor seats, so it’s good to reserve, the menu is fusion Spanish/French and the wine card a good regional selection at fair prices. We were a couple for dinner that chose snails to start, a delicious tuna tartar with orange sauce and pickled red onion, veal skewer with potatoes, an very tasty blood sausage with pastry and apple, and for desert a Pain Perdue plus pineapple with lime sorbet, all with an excellent red Malapere, waters, bread and coffee for €50/pax.
Jesper A — Google review
Menu is a great deal! Every dish tastes very well!

We had a very enjoyable meal here. The selection and quality of food was different from the other local restaurants. It felt very intimate and staff made you feel like you were eating in their home. Tuna tartare, swordfish, veggie salad and lava cake were good choices. Wine was recommended with each course.

5 out of 5 to the staff, environment, and food. I had one of the best risottos in my life. The fish was very well cooked and soft. The risotto tasted all ingredients and the rice, just AMAZING. Highly recommend. Be sure to book it in advance!!!

Average mass assembled dishes. The escalivada was a mush of bell peppers with anchovies topped with rocket leaves on soggy bread, all heaped on a wooden board that has seen better days. For main, the ribs were dry, salty and covered with some tasteless glazing served with cold French fries, and a poorly prepared ketchup. The quantities in the plates are not for the faint of heart and probably used to justify the prices. Service was cordial and atmosphere was relaxed. Not a place to visit again.

Incredible, incredible food. We licked our plates clean, and I may have teared up a little at the pork ngl. Friendly service, we made eachother laugh. And a very classic, timeless, passionate atmosphere that cared about the little details. 100% recommend. Carcassone has some great food but this was a highlight for us. Pictured is everything off the set menu - soup, egg, tuna, pork, chocolat and fruit. Soup, pork and fruit were our favourites. Beautiful, evolving flavours. Emphatically recommend

Le Bar à Vins de la Cité is a charming and longstanding establishment that has been serving quality food and wines for over 20 years. Nestled in the heart of the medieval town, it offers a serene escape from the bustling city. This hidden gem is perfect for a leisurely lunch or an evening of delicious cocktails and fine French wines. The menu features a variety of tapas, complemented by an impressive selection of beers and wines that can be enjoyed in the shaded courtyard.
Didn’t have much to eat here so I can’t speak for the food, but the crepes were delicious. The interior courtyard is absolutely incredible! Beautiful massive trees, and you sit right beside the city rampart. Nice big tables as well.

We had lunch here as a party of 4 and have only positive things to say. We had a mix of the tacos (beef, chicken and veggie/ vegan), a couple of poke bowls and also some patatas and every single dish was excellent. One of us is vegan and there were two delicious option on the menu with plenty more vegetarian ones to choose from too. We were also very impressed with the choice of alcohol free drink options. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food and drinks arrived very quickly. Fantastic experience and truly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!
S.L — Google review
The cafe has a very good atmosphere and even though it was a busy day we could be seated right away. The personnel didn't spoke English that well but they made it up with their great attitude; and you can always point at the menu if you're not fluent in French like me. It was a bit pricy but the food tasted great!
Laura S — Google review
What a great bar. We had cocktails here several times during our week-long stay in Carcassonne and in our opinion this is to best place in town to drink a cocktail or a beer. It's a beautiful bar with great cocktails and a great atmosphere right in the middle of the old town. Service is fast and speaks good English. It is also possible to eat something here, but we didn't do that so we can't review that.
Jeroen S — Google review
A lovely venue with a nice vibe and atmosphere. The staff are friendly, just not super attentive. We were waiting a while for another drink and to have our plates cleared away. The food we ordered wasn't great. The beef tataki was more cooked through than seared, it was cut too thick and was chewy. The accompanying sauce wasn't a familiar Asian flavour. I guess it just wasn't to our taste. The tapas plate with the curried mussels was quite nice, just the stuffed peppers were stone cold, fresh out of the fridge, which wasn't pleasant. The tacos looked good, on the next table. The beer and cocktails here are good, and it's one of the best spots in the cite medievale for a nice relaxed drink, away from the madding crowd. The vibe at night is very good. Definitely worth a look

Stopped for a cold drink and a quick bite to eat. Nice busy atmosphere, tasty sandwich
Gilbert D — Google review
We were reeeally hungry after walking around the castle and we saw this place had a lovely courtyard with lots of tables, shade and a nice menu. We didn't realise they don't do food at 3pm (more like at 7pm ish) but we were still offered a charcuterie board, poke bowls or a cheese board. We ended up going for meat one to get us going until dinner time and, what a good decision! It's was really tasty and a fair price (18€) 😋 👌

Lovely Irish pub with authentic charm. We met the owner and his friend on the flight from Dublin, and so happy we got their recommendation to stop in! The local beers were a great reset after our travels. Would love to be in here to watch a rugby match!

I didn't have food. Good service. Well run bar..For older age patrons background music might be invasive..Volume seems to stay the same regardless of crowd size or time..Of course this is typical of a lot of similar places

We can’t thank Susan and Patrick enough for everything they did for us during our wedding week in Carcassonne. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Their warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail truly made our experience unforgettable. The Celt Bar was not only a great place for us and our guests to gather and celebrate, but it also felt like a home away from home thanks to their kindness and support. They made sure everything ran smoothly, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Susan and Patrick — thank you so much for all your help with the wedding and for looking after us so well throughout the week. We’ll always have such special memories of our time at The Celt, and we’re so grateful to you both for being a big part of it. Highly recommend this gem of a place to anyone visiting Carcassonne — especially if you want true Irish hospitality at its best!

Great place. Excellent service. Would highly recommend. The waiters asked you exactly what kind of wine. They selected great choice. Prices good. Yes we would go there again.
Eileen H — Google review
Horrible! The owner "Laure" was aggressive, drinking behind the bar, and in a private room where she is checking clients behind a smoked glass. We got a misunderstanding and she did attack me right away. Even inviting me to get out if her service is not convenient enough, despite my friend trying sincerely to calm down the situation and her friends/colleagues present even tried to calm her down. I felt pity for her. IShe will probably read this, one day or another... So I wish her to get better quickly. I just add this last sentence after reading other comments... Regarding her attitude, always good to have be sure that I am not the only one who noticed such an unprofessional attitude from Laure...

Highly recommended brew pub, perfect stop off on our way to the airport. Line 7 from Carcassonne rail station/town centre on the bus takes about 20 minutes. Then 15 minute walk to airport. Amazing selection of drinks, especially for the real ale drinkers out there, delicious bar food, excellent service!

Fantastic place with great beers, a perfect pre-airport drink before a flight! You can take RTCA bus line 7 from the train station and get off at "Henri Mouton" stop and you're right outside. Then it's a 15 minute walk to the airport!

La Métairie is a charming and laid-back spot that feels just like home. Nestled near the historic Carcassonne Castle, it offers an array of delightful restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can savor local specialties like the renowned cassoulet. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine while taking in breathtaking panoramic views of the castle. Whether you're with friends or on a romantic outing, La Métairie provides a relaxed vibe complemented by great music.
Very quiet when we visited early October on a Monday evening. Lovely views over La Cite and plenty of log burners around the place for chilly winters evenings. We had a couple of beers and a wonderful pizza straight from a roaring wood fired oven. Well worth a visit.
Carol C — Google review
This is a really nice place to go around sunset, beautiful interior and exterior, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Only a few minutes walk from the main cité entrance, easily walkable with paths along the road. The chèvre miel pizza (goats cheese and honey) was well worth the money (around 15€), especially when combined with the view of the sunset behind the cité. Also a cat!
Alice S — Google review
Fantastic views over the Cité. Delicious wood fired pizzas. Be aware that no pizza when the fish and chip van is scheduled. We weren't so keen on the self service beer concept as they are very expensive, drink wine instead!
Bea A — Google review
A real gem! Our BnB host recommended we try this place for some pizza. Simple quick service. Pay and take a ticket, take your drinks, go order your pizza from the proper big wood fired oven. Collect when buzzer goes off. Very reasonably priced with stunning views over the castle and nice relaxed music. Our pizzas were absolutely delicious as was the house wine. If you are looking for an experience go! If you are looking white linen table service ... Not for you. We will always remember this wonderful spot
Laurie B — Google review
If you want to see the best sunset, silhouetted by La Cité this is the place. The owners are super friendly, it’s nothing fancy but an awesome spot for a wine, cocktail or a beer.
Rod B — Google review
This was just behind our hotel at Mercure La Cité, an easy 5-10 min walk from the Cité itself. We wanted a drink and bite to eat on our last night. What a lovely place, friendly owner chatted to us in our broken French and in English. Nice cat. Spent our last night outdoors with a prime view of the whole cité lit up and a beautiful wood fired pizza. A hidden gem
Sammy C — Google review
This is not a restaurant but rather a bar with, outside, a pizza bakery. You order your pizza from a choice of about 10 different kinds there, take a buzzer with you and when it is ready you go back to the pizza man and take your pizza to your table in or outside of the bar. It was quite full when I got there so I had to settle for a dirty table which was not cleaned while I was there. The bar man gave me my drink, bottle of Orangina at 4 euro and smelt like he needed a shower and a clean shirt.
Hans K — Google review
Beautiful little find in Carcassonne! A simple, friendly bar with a spectacular view of the Medieval City. We had a lovely bottle of wine watching the sunset. On Thursdays and Sundays a Chip Van pulls up for food, we were lucky to be here when this happened and we can say the fish and chips is delicious!!! The bar also has a pizza restaurant for when the chip van is not your thing or not there.

This wine bar is perfect for a relaxing night out with friends. The staff are friendly and helpful, the wine selection is great, and the food is tasty but not gourmet. There's plenty of tapas to choose from, and the prices are very reasonable. It's located on the edge of the canal, making it a great spot for a evening stroll or some people watching.
Right next to the Canal Du Midi. My regular bar for many years. Great wines from the family vineyards behind the town. Lovely tapas and attentive staff. New pedestrianised terrace and luxurious furniture. Italian and French restaurants either side of Pierres' bar.
John E — Google review
Worst coffee frappé I ever had. Asked two waiters for milk and sugar to try and make it somewhat palatable, but never got any. Place wasn't even busy at that time... Tapas were ok. We would probably have enjoyed if we had taken a beer or soft drink instead of the coffee.
Mark V — Google review
Perfect location alongside the canal. Friendly and welcoming service, although took ages to clear away the plates when we'd finished eating. Food was tasty, not bad for a French attempt at Tapas!

I haven’t eaten red meat for over a decade but my friend’s bouchées du boeuf looked so delicious I had to try one. Did not disappoint! That said I’m not going back to steak as a rule..!

Leslie B — Google review
Walking along the Canal du Midi and looking for food, stopped here and got an enjoyable fish and chips with beer. Definitely worth a visit
Michael W — Google review
Cycled along canal as a family and were greeted by an indifferent waiter / owner who was very irritated that we could not scan his menu with a mobile phone, using rude hand gestures. We had a drink but didn’t feel comfortable and left - went back to the village where we were staying and had a million times better experience at the local bar / cafe. Avoid these overly touristy places and support local and friendly eating places as covid has hit them much harder.

The Tasting Room in Carcassonne is a charming wine bar run by a knowledgeable family with a passion for wines and delicious food. The cozy space offers an authentic and romantic atmosphere, attracting a diverse crowd of locals and international visitors. With its great selection of local wines and mouthwatering pizzas made from fresh, local ingredients, it's no wonder that guests find themselves returning to this gem multiple times during their visit.
For only 10 euros per person, you can have a great wine tasting experience of 5 wines, which is amazing even just considering cost/service. That is before you even consider the pizza, which was hands-down some of the best made we’ve tasted in a long time. Really good all-around and you can tell this place is a local favorite. Just so you know, they open at 18:30.

Degustation 5 vins/10€ mix bottle of wine €20 Limited pizza as the pizza base is 24hr fermented. If you can, book. Hadrian is sommelier & Mario is the pizza chef. Very small space not many tables. They do takeaway pizza. The two brothers from Naples are working together. They Speak English French & Italian. Menu attached.

They invited us in like family and looked after us. Never asked for anything back other than our purchasing of very nice yet surprisingly affordable wine. Lovely people. "I was amazed out of my arse" said one fiend. It felt like locals and tourists would enjoy it. Vibes would be the word, if I was inclined to use such a word.

It’s a lovely place, a locals favorite judging by the crowd. It’s usually open after 18.30. For 10 € / person we enjoyed a wine tasting of 5 marvellous wines, along with descriptions and tidbits on wine in general. Highly recommending getting some pizza as well, one of the best I ever had.

Hands down the best pizza in Carcassonne! These guys have the formula for perfection hammered out fine! Very cool photos on the walls of the owner's father at work!
Nick F — Google review
Really hard to describe the Tasting Room. The simple description would be wine and pizza. A slightly more descriptive may be great local wine, pizza and pinse. Still not good enough description, Two brothers who have lived around the world, who know wine and food - and more importantly - people - have created an amazing space in Carcassonne. Tonight when we visited the crowd was USA, UK, Italia, Espania, Australia, and Francais (plenty of locals). Amazing people, amazing atmosphere. Love it.

This is a nice wine bar that also serves Italian pizza. They have a wide range of wines and a short menu but it's all quality ingredients. Owner is Italian American so speaks perfect English. We had a plate of charcuterie and pizzas. Excellent meat and wines too !

We found the place very authentic and romantic. The staff was welcoming and caring, giving us great wine recommendations. The pizza was superb. I was surprised the pricing was very agreeable, in such a touristic town. So, five stars. I would come again.
