We loved the place! Firstly, lots of places to park which was very convenient. And the view was just amazing!!! The server was super polite and friendly. The place is straight out of a Pinterest board. It was even possible to hear birds chirping. Very truthful to Portuguese culture and the food was just amazing… we even forgot to take pictures because we just wanted to enjoy the food. We ordered the soup of the day (creme de legumes - very tasty), espetada (10/10, great meat), grape cheesecake (not typical, but I love cheesecake and I loved this!!) All of them enough for 2 people (maybe order 2 cheesecake slices). Is places like this that make me proud of being Portuguese. 🥰

Like a tourist canteen very loud and waiters are rude and miserable. We were on a coach party. The food is traditional and its ok, but compared to a meal earlier on our trip it was not a high standard. The folk dancing was ok but very loud and went on for far too long. Very commercial place clearly for tourists.

We arrived around 5:30 PM, before the evening rush. There were enough staff members present, but it seemed that most of them were focused on preparing for the evening service rather than taking care of the guests who were already there. Because of that, it took about 10–15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. We were a group of six and made only small changes to our meals – for example, we asked to replace French fries with boiled potatoes, and we ordered some steaks medium rare and rare. However, after waiting around 40 minutes, our meals were brought out with several mistakes. One order was completely wrong, and one person didn’t receive their food at all. It took another 20 minutes to sort things out, but by then the rest of us had already finished eating. The staff didn’t handle the situation very professionally. There was no real apology or effort to make up for the mistake, and it felt like guests were not a priority at that time. Also, the drink prices were quite high compared to the overall service quality. It seems that the restaurant focuses more on its evening events, but guests who come earlier should still receive proper attention and timely service. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience.

We have tried the top 3 restaurants for beef skewer in Madiera and o lagar was the best one. In addition they have entertainment but not sure if its every night or only on weekend.

It’s a huge place or a local cousin. We’ve been here two times and it was more than half empty (maybe we were lucky). We really enjoyed everything we ordered. The food was tasty, lots of flavor. The service was quite slow but other than that everything else was good. It’s definitely a worth visiting place.

I had an excellent experience at this restaurant. The products quality is outstanding, especially the grilled meat cooked on a laurel skewer. The flavors are exceptional, and the presentation is consistently high‑standard. I highly recommend visiting; it’s definitely worth the trip.

So far the best restaurant we have been to on the island. We had the espetada, milho frito, bolo de caco with butter and a small salad. With also had the maracuja pudding to finish off. Incredible quality food. Every single dish was fantastic and left us speechless. A large quantity of food but we left full, without any stomach pains or indigestion, proving that the food was prepared with high quality ingredients. Even the fried sweetcorn was surprisingly light and easy to digest. Atmosphere was quiet and classy, all waiters professional and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area and we hope to go back soon!

Overhyped and Overpriced – Average Food in a Plain Setting We had to wait for a table, and the atmosphere felt more like a dull banquet hall than a traditional Madeiran spot. Too many tables crammed in, nothing local or charming. The famous espedata was just average — far from “the best in Madeira” as advertised. Food was fine but nothing special, and prices felt high for no reason. Honestly, in Madeira you can find amazing, authentic meals in almost any local restaurant without the hype or inflated bill. A decent meal if you’re nearby, but far from the authentic experience it promises.

Best espetada in Madeira . Knocks any Italian out of the water for simplicity of cooking to bring out the flavour of the meat , perfectly cooked sirloin, milho frito and lovely accompanying wine. Family friendly too. Thank you for being so welcoming.

Nice, but the chicken was on the bone and and so we got way less meat with the chicken skewers when compared with the steak ones. Points lost for the chicken and the slightly slow service at one point, otherwise really nice. Recommended.

A must try when in Madeira. This place serves according locals the best and most famous meat sticks called „espetadas“. Usually it is beef minced with laurel leaves. Of course we also ordered the typical bread, pao de caco with garlic and a fresh salad. Also the „maiz junks (milho frito)“ deep fried is a must! Loved it all!

Meat was was good quality and well cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of locals enjoying there food and we fitted in really well. Very enjoyable night.

Visited "o pasto" grillhouse, ordered grilled chicken, salad, soup of the day and grilled codfish. Codfish was disgusting - gummy and tasteless. Soup of the day resembled "cream soup" made from mixed vegerables and was dull (2/10). Salad was repulsive - old carrot slices, old beetroot slices, chopped onion and some tomatoes. And finally, the grilled chicken...... saying that it was salty would be like saying nothing - I think they dumped a mountain of salt on it. P.S Plain water costs almost 4€ there. In summary..... do not go there. Waste of money, waste of time.

Absolutely AMAZING experience, that everybody should try! Highly recommend from menu - 10 different meats from “Espada”. You receiving rice with beans and delicious cabbage muxed with bacon 🥓 and then every few minutes you will get different pieces of meat (pork, turkey, chicken, beef) in many versions and in the very end gorgeous pieces of pineapple with cinnamon from charcoal 💕 service is so friendly and nice, prices reasonable and all experience worth every penny! Went there with my boyfriend and overall we loved it!! We asked for the Rodízio which basically included all sorts of meat, almost all you can eat style. For dessert we asked the passion fruit pudding which was DIVINE, the slice was gigantic, and my bf got the pineapple flambe!! Overall a very good experience, with a cozy family vibe!

Food was very good and the employees were very friendly. It was very loud, although just a few of those many tables were in use, when we've been there. You need to order everything seperately, so the amount for your meal is growing fast.

The restaurant itself is not fancy, but the service was faultless, good fun and well paced. The food is meat, and more meat, but you can balance it out with really tasty black beans and a giant, and I mean giant side salad. It's all fresh and tasty, exceptionally good value too.

Hands down one of the best spots we found in Madeira. The view? Unreal. Sitting there with the ocean in front of you and the sun going down – pure magic. The fish was next level. Super fresh, grilled just right, and full of flavor. Simple, honest, and seriously good. Plus, the staff was so lovely – warm, attentive, and always with a smile. It’s one of those places where everything just feels right. Good food, good people, good vibes. Definitely a must if you’re around!

We had a great dinner there! Food was very tasty and portions quite big. You can choose your own fish, whey will tell you exact price after checking the weights . Great starter of the day for 3.5 euro. Waiting time around 40 min. for food, but that’s ok. I highly recommend this place.

Fresh fish right off the counter, but service was a bit difficult to catch since they were running around everywhere. The octopus was delicious, but I was confused why we only got one type of octopus. The description said octopus 3 ways, but they only brought us octopus in a soupy way. The prawns were crispy and well seasoned with a lemony flavor. For mains, we got fish from the counter. It was a mix of tuna belly (super soft and just a bit fatty), a red snapper equivalent, and a monkfish. Aside from the food, the restaurant has floor to ceiling windows for great views of the fishing village below. At night, the church and some parts of it are lit up.

Overall a solid dining experience. I came here solo and picked one of their most popular fish, limpets (requested a half order as I was by myself), and bolo do caco (also half order). The limpets were delicious and lived up to the hype. Bolo do caco was also good. Fish was delicious, although some parts were a bit too salty but it was just the seasoning on the skin. It came with 3 sauces: mayo, a hot spicy one and a pesto oil. The pesto sauce was delicious. The fish was a pretty big portion and was definitely full after.

Nice staff, the was okay, but its very overpriced. You can easily find something similar for much better price. The staff was nice, but the food is totally avarage. The shrimp was very weird, it had a bad taste to it somehow. The calamari was okay, but arrived cold to the table, the fish was full taste of vinegar.

Guys, definitely a must visit in Madeira is this perfect point!! We have found it as we cruised around with Yellowbus sightseeing. Amazing food, fishes that you will choose directly at the fish bar, you will get a very helpfull information if you are not sure which fish is better for you directly from the staff, just ask. Guys working there are nice, polite, and will guide you to select the right food for you. The views from the terrace are amazing, best to book up a table before the sunset time. I and my wife enjoyed the meal a lot, with good Madeira wine and local beer. Absolutely sure we will return once again if we come to Madeira.

I arrived there 15 minutes before they open to get a car parking and I have an outside table. I ordered half beef skewer (Espetada), half grilled chicken and garlic bread. The food tastes very good and yummy. The beef usually is medium cooked and you can ask them to cook it in different way like me as I like it to be medium well. Service is nice and they don’t accept international credit card so you have to have cash if you are visiting.

It’s known for its chicken and espetada as those are the only 2 mains on the menu so one can’t get overwhelmed. My hubby and I thought the chicken to be superior but the espetada presentation was cool with the long skewer irons hanging from the rack. However, the true star of the show and the ultimate surprise was the garlic bread. We’ve had this simple garlic bread elsewhere all over the island but I’m telling you this place has the best garlic bread so make sure you pair this with your protein you won’t be disappointed. 100% recommend this spot it’s delicious and authentic with iron skewers and open kitchen ovens. You see the traditional way of cooking espetada.

Wow! If you’re into steak, this place is a must. Hugely popular with both tourists and locals – everyone comes here for the famous espetada (steak skewers). And yes… they’re absolutely worth it! Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and served with quick, friendly service in a simple, no-frills setting that lets the food shine. Parking can be tricky (only along the steep road), so here’s my tip: arrive about 15 minutes before opening. We did, parked right in front, and got the first table. By the time we left an hour later, the road was lined with cars and people were waiting for a spot. Pro tip: Meat lovers – come early and order the espetada! 🥩👌

We came to Camara de Lobos specifically to try the Madeirense Espetada at O Polar. Take care that it is not in the centre and the walk there is 30 minutes and very uphill. The area surrounding the restaurant is not very friendly. They don’t take reservations you must leave your name and wait for a table. We went on a Friday and the wait was very fast. One Espetada is enough for 2 people, the meat was perfectly cooked (for those who like medium-rare), the fried corn and salad are also great additions! For dessert we had the Passion Fruit Mousse and it’s not great. The service was kind and attentive. If you’re looking for a local and regional place this is it!

The best bolo do caco we had on the island! The staff was friendly and helpful, the food came to the table quickly (even though the restaurant was very busy), and everything was delicious!! Perfectly poured dark Coral beer.

Tip. Go there when they first open and you’ll get a table. We got the Espetada, milho frito and fries between 2 of us was just right. Cash only. Good prices and very tasty! I recommend!

Very pretty restaurant that, true to its name, is all about steak. So we ordered some lamb, which was excellent. So was the steak! Waiters were great. Very engaging.

No.1 place to go if you want to try a tradional Madeiran espetada. Restaurant offers top quality food, fantastic service and ambience. It has absolutely everything you would need for a perfect dining experience. Would recommend to try a starter of portugese tapas and bolo do caco. Restaurant has an extensive list of good wines, but even their house red is spectacular. We have chosen 2 versions of traditional espetada and both were absolutely lovely. Would recommend to go for dinner as sunsets over Camara de Lobos are amazing and restaurant has a fantastic position to admire them. Can't wait to come back when next time in Madeira.

Shame the service didn’t meet the same standard as the atmosphere. Maybe because we are locals we get treated differently. We ordered starters and drinks and then the waiter left without taking our mains. We had to ask an hour later for the mains of which only the sides came and then waited ages for the steak. We never received some of the orders and when we did they came at different times and not as we had asked apparently the attached steak is medium well?? Very disappointing as the restaurant has a lot of potential and we traveled from far to try it. Won’t be returning and for any tourists I’d recommend aiming for something local further away from city centres it’s a tourist trap. I can guarantee you will get better service, food and value for money elsewhere

A real disappointment for dry-aged meat lovers Attracted by their display of 60-day dry-aged Black Angus beef, I was eager to try what looked like a premium cut. I ordered it right away, cooked rare. First surprise: the meat wasn’t shown before cooking — something quite common in quality steakhouses. When served, I immediately noticed the doneness wasn’t rare. The chef explained it was their “standard” level of cooking — a surprising answer for a place that supposedly takes pride in meat preparation. But the biggest disappointment was the taste: absolutely none of the distinct flavors of a 60-day dry-aged beef. No nutty notes, no complexity, no funky character. I shared my concerns with the chef, who mentioned it might come from a less flavorful part of the animal or its age — explanations that didn’t hold up. They did offer a commercial gesture, which I appreciated, but overall, the experience fell flat. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to true dry-aged meat enthusiasts.

I was recommended this place for its high-quality meat and traditional espetadas, and it did not disappoint. You can really taste the quality and great flavor in every dish we ordered. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, and the view is amazing — especially during sunset. The side dishes are not included, but the fried corn is definitely a must-try — it’s very tasty and not heavy at all and the staff was friendly and attentive to all our requests The only disappointment was that the restaurant didn’t offer any alcohol-free local beverages, such as Brisa, a popular local soda that’s available everywhere in Madeira.

The food was amazing! The best we’ve had in Madeira by far. The sides were all perfectly balanced and delicious, the meat was tender and the dessert was the perfect after meal treat! Manuel was our server and he was so kind and answered all of our questions about the menu. I would love to come back!

Really great selection of the meat dishes. A bit on the “steak” and beef side of selection; however you will also find something for the kids and veggie guys. Neverthless the taste of their stakes is on quite high level, even the skewers chicken is phenomenal. Selection of starters (liver, meatballas, season salads…) is good; the house red wine is price/performance 5 stars👍. So if you like meat - do visit!

Unfortunately our experience was not a good one despite the high number of reviews. Notice: The restaurant is on the second floor without an elevator so it is not suitable for elderly people or people with disabilities. I keep the review short. The garlic bread was OK! Both the meat skewer and chicken skewer were "very" salty (we could only eat them with the wine)! The fried corn cubes were super greasy and we could only eat a few cubes! The salad was not fresh and was soaked in olive oil and balsamico (would be nice if they were served separately so we could decide how much to add). The only good thing was the fries with oregano. The waiter was polite and did his best communicating in English. I will not recommend this restaurant.

Friday night, place is full mostly with locals. I was expecting an experience above average, but it turned out to be poor. Food and service deserves a 2 star. At the end of our dinner we were asked how the food was. A good service always checks if everything is Ok a few minutes after you start your meal.

In the Chamber of Wolves one of the older regional roads exists, connecting you to the council of the Brave Sacra and the Funchal. The main activities are agriculture and construction. It borders the clientele of Chamber of Wolves to south and west, with the customers of the Garden of the Ridge to the north with the clientele of Quinta Grande west and with the council of the Funchal east. I was raised to the category of village in 1994. There is the mountains to the north, where some of the naughty ones in Madeira are put water courses they use the force of gravity for use of local agriculture. Minerva is a hidden gem in the south of Madeira, tucked away in a cosy little village. Even though the area is touristic, this spot feels calm and quiet, the perfect escape for a relaxing meal. The view from the restaurant is simply incredible, making the location worth it on its own. Menu: The food was outstanding. We started with aubergine prepared in a special way that really surprised us, followed by a perfectly cooked tuna dish. To finish, we shared two desserts that were both amazing – beautifully presented and full of flavor. The balance of creativity and freshness in the dishes really stood out. Service: The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, adding to the whole experience. They clearly care about making guests feel comfortable. Price: Considering the quality of the food, the view, and the level of service, the price felt very fair. It’s not the cheapest option around, but absolutely worth it for the experience. Overall, Minerva combines a breathtaking location, delicious food, and top-notch service at a fair price – highly recommended! I’ve attached some photos so you can see how lovely it all was.

the food was honestly terrible — no dressings, no seasonings. i ordered a shrimp salad, but it turned out to be just a couple of shrimp with small dots of avocado that felt raw to me. everything was cold, and we couldn’t finish our meal. the staff were nice, the guy with the cool tattoos even told us about the holiday happening in town

A beautiful place with a terrace overlooking a small local bay. Excellent food and drinks at the same prices as nearby restaurants. However, the quality is 2 or even 3 levels higher.

I saw the menu for this restaurant just outside our hotel our first day and thought it looked great. After one of our longer tour days, we decided it'd be a good choice since it was so close to where we're staying. It's located on Floor 1 (which is what we would typically consider the second floor) of a shopping center. We almost changed our minds because there is no outdoor seating, but I'm glad we stuck with the plan because everything was wonderful! Service was friendly and helpful, we enjoyed our drinks (a cider and kombucha), and the food was delicious too. We ordered breads and butters plus a meat and cheese plate to start, then the braised tuna plus octopus rice for our entrees. The tuna was definitely our fave--cooked perfectly with a flavorful crust. We also enjoyed the sides that accompanied our meal. We were too full to try dessert but there were some lovely looking cakes in the case! Would definitely recommend a stop here--don't let the location within the shopping center deter you. It was still comfortable and a nice cozy atmosphere.

We over ordered! But everything was sooo good we couldn’t decide which dish could’ve been skipped. I tried the braised tuna steak and it was heavenly. The cheese platter, bread platter everything was so yum! The wine they helped me select to go along with my dish just fit right, I even had an opportunity to taste between two options. 100% recommend! I will definitely come back when I visit Madeira again.

Lovely dinner at this hidden gem. Don’t let it’s secret location put you off, you won’t just stumble across it as it’s on the first floor of a little shopping mall. The staff were super lovely and very attentive and we had a lovely chat. The food was reasonably priced for the quality and we enjoyed everything we ordered. We had the sausage charcuterie to start with the bread. Then a grilled tuna and a black scabbard fish. Enjoyed the entire experience and fully recommend a visit!

Good food but could be better. For example we ordered medium rare tuna, yet as the pan was hot upon arrival, by the time we started to eating it, it was more like well done than medium rare. Service was almost excellent, they were attentive, friendly and polite. However we had a pushy waiters who tried too hard to upsell which wasn't great. Overall certainly worth a visit.

Fantastic food! A little difficult to find inside the mall, but a fantastic place for food! Prices are super reasonable, especially for the area it is in. Food was delicious, everything on the menu sounded good and everything we saw looked delicious. So... I have had Madmarket on my radar since last year when I found it on by looking for restaurants on Google - but we didn't get there last year so it was top of our list this year and oh was it worth the wait!!! We were a walk in - not always the easiest - but we were lucky to get a table. Our main server was Anabela and from the off, she made us and our girls feel very, very welcome. She made a fuss of our youngest - who is a hard nut to crack. She explained the wines - the wines are all round the wall so you pick, pay a very reasonable price and corkage. When it came to food, we chose a meat and cheese platter to share, bread basket, eldest daughter had steak, youngest daughter had a meat and cheese board as her main, I had the beef pica-pau and hubby had the crusted seared tuna. Hubby chose a wine and eldest and I chose the homemade lemonade 😋 Daughter loved her steak, youngest devoured most of her board, the tuna steak was lovely and the pica-pau was divine. The sauce it comes in... oh my days! I could have licked the bowl! The pica-pau and steaks also came with a side salad - the best side salad I've ever had! It was simple, delicious, not over dressed. Even my eldest who has never eaten a salad devoured hers! Honestly, there wasn't a scrap of food left at all! It was the best meal we've had and have booked in for our last night before we go home. Service wise, nothing was too much trouble. Our youngest had really liked some small salami that we had on our board so I asked Anabela if there was any chance we could purchase her a separate small portion. She very kindly went and found which salami we were referring to and brought Sophia a small portion of her own. The gesture was very much appreciated. Anabela also came and explained there was a small delay with our mains as they had just received a delivery. This wasn't a problem and appreciated her letting us know. I can imagine if you weren't updated, it would be a little frustrating however for us, not a problem. Onto desserts, our eldest had something passionfruit... it was like a cheesecake but not... I'll find out and update. Husband had the lime and caramel cake. Both were delicious! The decor is quite industrial - we like this. Its an unusual, interesting space and larger than meets the eye. Round the corner is a space where they hold culinary classes and further back is a space surrounded by books with a couple of games tables. As a book lover, this caught my eye. I understand it is the intention to open up 'the library' at some point. This restaurant is one you need to seek out as it isn't particularly visible from the road which is a shame. It deserves to be packed out every night. I am glad I discovered it. It will be one we come back to every visit and recommended to all our friends and family that regularly come over. I can't rate it highly enough!

We had a great experience here. The food is very well cooked and the flavours are excellent. The portions are very generous. It was so good we went back a couple of days later. They do a meal deal of 3 courses with 2 glasses of wine which have very generous pours and all for €57 per person. This was a real find.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Service is excellent. They cater really well for Gluten free. The entertainment was good also. We went 3 times in our week visit. Already planning when we can go on holiday again to go back.

Wow this place is amazing, we went twice the second time we had the Special Menu a set meal for €57 euro each which included any starter main and desert from the main menu and all drinks, wine coffee soft drinks. The service was outstanding we were given a glass of sparkling wine each complimentary whether you choose the special menu or not! Also a warm complimentary bread roll with cream cheese and olive oil. I had scallops with curry risotto it was delicious and my husband had prawns. My sea bass for main course was beautifully presented with mussels and a prawn with a wine sauce it was fabulous so tasty my husband had pork cheeks with chestnut purée he said it was fantastic for desert I had chocolate fondant which was to die for and my husband had hot honey cake which was so good he wouldn’t share. The service we received was brilliant so attentive without being over the top our wine was topped up before we’d finished the glass and the time we were given between our main course and desert was appreciated. We left feeling thoroughly spoilt and extremely full please don’t walk by it’s a true gem of a place!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Cris’s Place! The food was fantastic – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The wine selection was excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. I was especially impressed by the value for money when choosing the set menu, which felt like a real treat without breaking the bank. The food was nice and cooked well. Perhaps it's just not to our taste but we appreciate the meat was cooked well. However we did feel that what we paid for our meal didn't match the meal we ate. €3 for a very small and slightly hard bread roll felt a bit silly. I think it was a bit too expensive for what we had, while the dishes were pricey we didn’t finish a single dish feeling wholly satisfied, some combinations that didn’t really feel like they worked or left the dish feeling a bit incomplete or mismatched. The thing that really fell short was the service. Yes the service staff were extremely kind, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and helpful when speaking to them. However it took a long time to even be able to get their attention, it felt like we were left waiting a long time after being given our menu and again when we said a were finished. It took over 20 minutes to get the bill at the end after saying we are finished and had to ask for it twice.

Great food, they took care of our food allergies of gluten intolerance and dairy allergy. Great food and great service, nearly every table was taken. Given that it is a little out of the main area this says a lot Definitely worth the effort getting there.

This is a definite must-visit. We were fortunate to be staying within a few minutes of this excellent restaurant (we visited twice in the week we were visiting Madeira). Food is superb, and excellent service. They do a "set" 3-course menu from which you can choose anything from the menu for all three courses, including wine, coffee and water. The Restaurant & Grill Muralha is one of the best restaurants on the island of Madeira and should be on your to-do list when visiting this stunning tropical island. There is an easily accessible car park directly underneath the rooftop terrace restaurant but just be aware that it closes at 11pm so you don't want to get your car locked in! The restaurant is a stylish design and the menu is top quality. The service is excellent, super fast and helpful and everything about this place says it's excellent. The grilled octopus is outstanding and the fish soup was also remarkable. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was too quality. Finally the sunset views from the restaurant are worthy of a special mention. This restaurant is something special and should be on your list to visit. Highly recommended.

Food we ordered was by far the best we had. Delicious. We ordered Spicy Asian curry with prawns and rice and black scabbard fish, sweet potatos with banana ( ordered as extra). The flavours were excellent. Service provided by Victor was very good. Helped me choose my dish and was really polite and friendly. This restaurant deserves 5 star.

one of the best restaurants we went to in madeira. it’s on a higher price range but definitely worth a try! the mussels were so juicy and flavourful. I had the pork cheeks and omg the meat was extremely soft and well marinated. the staff was also very helpful, the only downside was the wait. the place is super popular and always packed so the food takes quite a long time to come out. please try not to come while you’re starving

Came here in a Thursday afternoon for lunch and had a great experience. Service was 10/10. Food was close to perfection (just needed more seasoning). We also had the cutest cat come keep us company. Would highly recommend.

You can do much better!! Sorry guys, not worth the money! First, when we arrived in the floor where the elevator lets you out, many employees were running around but no one cares about you. After we asked someone where the restaurant is, someone told us some kind of impolite: we have to wait at the small shop, someone picks us up. Ok 👍 after the pickup, they brought us to the restaurant with another elevator. So far, so good. There are four waiters running this restaurant. Only one is smiling while talking to you. The other ones are not interested and very neutral. 😐 why is that? No smalltalk? Not even ONE was asking, if we liked the food after every course. Only „are you finished?“… The Aperol Spritz was made with an old Prosecco and we got a new one after telling the bad quality of the Aperol. Also no one asked, if we want some wine for the dinner… When the main course arrived, the waitress noticed, that there is no wine and asked us, if we want some…But much to late…sorry. Come on guys! You had only 6-8 tables to serve with a team of 4! The meals are really nice decorated and very tasty. No complaining about the food, but the service is a challenge. Also: why is there 8 Euros for the bread and butter called „couvert“ on the bill? We didn’t order that… bread and butter is complementary in a restaurant. Why do you charge it as a service fee? After noticing that, I regret to gave you a tip, because you already grab 8 Euros for bread. Don’t get me wrong, the food is really tasty and really nice on the plate, but you could be Full House every night with a good service team. Sorry guys, not worth the money! Not even a warm wish for the guests when they leave… „Thank you for being with us“ OR „have a good night“ is a minimum I expect as a guest. So sad… 😞 that’s the coldest service I had for a long time. My recommendation: don’t go there! There are tons of better places in town.

Beautiful restaurant with ocean view, superbly designed, and with impeccable service. The waiter was very knowledgeable about wine, and tool his time explaining each one, and even recommanding vineyards to visit on our trip according to our tastes. The ravioli, the red snapper, the meringue sorbet palate cleanser and the desert were all delicious. To give them a perfect score, I just wished they seasoned the sides that came with the black angus steak, they tasted a bit bland.

Went for a 3-course menu, which included the drinks as well. It is not cheap but for the amount of stuff included, it is pretty good value. The food is a piece of art. The starter and the dessert are pretty tasty. The main is a bit bland tbh.

Best meal of the holiday here. We walked past the restaurant a couple of times and decided to book for our last night - another couple were also booking and said the food was excellent, they certainly were ’t wrong. The restaurant is small (11 tables) and is staffed by the owner/chef and his wife/waitress. Old school charm and service, the food was simply superb. Recommend booking as walk-ins may be turned away and as others have commented, the service is relaxed and unhurried - expect 2-2 1/2 hours for dining. We rarely eat 3 courses but we just had to share a desert. The house wine was also excellent. Recommend the French style Onion Soup au Gratin (as good as any we have had in France), Pepper Steak (Fillet - medium with vegetables and a side of Sautéed potatoes), Chicken Curry and Flambéed Banana 😋 You will not be disappointed 👍

A small cosy restaurant of 11 tables. The food gets 5 out of 5. The best meal we had the whole week. But be cautioned. This is a small restaurant run by owner and wife. Felt like Fawlty Towers with Basil, Manuel and the chef rolled into one. The food takes a while to arrive but it was fantastic. Order drinks, have a chat and wait for the food. It is worth it. Highly recommended if you not in a rush. Black scabbard fish with banana. Outstanding

This place has amazing food. From greeting to leaving is impressive. Phillipe welcomes you, cooks all your meals, and the food is amazing. It takes a bit longer, but to be fair, phillipe makes and serves the food faster than a lot of the other restaurants we went to. This place will not disappoint.

Fantastic little restaurant. The chef comes to talk to you about the menu and all the fresh fish they have that day. We had a great meal in Tokos. When we visited, it was just chef Philippe acting as front of house, waiter and chef. It was a very personalised dining experience with excellent food and drinks options. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Funchal.

"10/10 best meat experience I ever had" from meat loving fiance. 2nd time we came to Viola on our 9 day holiday to Madeira. 1st time we had Steak Tartare, Picanha, Espetada, bone marrow and bread. It was such a good experience we came a 2nd time: We had dry aged Black Angus with fries and salad, and bone marrow. IT WAS AMAZING! As a dessert we had home made passion fruit cheesecake. We are flying back Sunday, we are probably going again. I would recommend the dry aged beef, if you want to have an amazing experience for a low budget. Everything is homemade, from the sauces/salsa to everything! And they were so friendly and helpfull!

Best espetada we had while visiting Madeira! Their bolo do caco with garlic was also perfectly crispy. Staff is great, super nice and organized. Absolutely recommend it.

The restaurant is quite overrated, with prices higher than average compared to Funchal. The interior is a bit disappointing - it feels more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Also, don't be surprised if the waiter forgets something like our drink, which was forgotten.

The lemonade was a bit bitter. The garlic bread starter was good. The food was good, it could have been better. The service was done by several waiters. Some were friendly, others less so. Overall it was good.

The first impression of the restaurant was very good. Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere. The food looked a bit sad when we got it. The salmon I ate was very dry and very salty. The risotto my husband ate was very mushy but tasted alright. The garlic bread was really good and we got some Nikita on the house to try which was nice. I ate tunasalad as starter and that was very basic. Tropical espada as main course was really delicius, best I’ve aten so far. Service was fast and everything was functioning well but just a little bit of friendliness would be nice. As a customer you would feel yourself more welcome, not just a duty.

The food is notably fresh, and we particularly enjoyed the starters, which were delicious. For our main course, we ordered the seafood rice for two. The portion was incredibly generous - so much so that we couldn’t finish it, likely because we had already enjoyed the starters. This speaks well to the restaurant’s value for money. The staff deserves special mention - they were all very friendly and helpful. Communication was effortless as all team members spoke excellent English, which made our dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The only minor drawback was the noise level when the restaurant was full, which made conversation a bit challenging. However, this is perhaps a testament to how popular and lively the place is. Overall, a great dining experience with quality food and outstanding service.

I visited this restaurant today and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing overall. The waiter also force us to order one main couse each. Despite informing the staff of both dietary restrictions and vegetarian preferences, one of the starters was served with tuna. This oversight was surprising and concerning. Furthermore, the pacing of the service was poorly managed: the mains were be made while we had only just begun our starters, which created a rushed and uncomfortable dining experience. In terms of the food, portion sizes were generous, but the balance of flavors was inconsistent. The spaghetti with vegetables was noticeably oversalted, while the risottos with mushroom and octopus were well-prepared and enjoyable. The beef filet, however, suffered from excessive seasoning and salt, which overpowered the quality of the meat. While the menu offers variety and the portions are substantial, the combination of inattentive service and inconsistent execution makes it unlikely that I would return.

This restaurant completely changed my opinion about Madeira’s food scene! After a few disappointments in Funchal, we found it by chance and the food was fantastic. Great value for money, friendly staff, and the seafood paella for two was so generous it could easily feed four. Highly recommended!

This place was exactly what I needed and was looking for. Part of a great concept of an accommodation, a restaurant, and a farm. Absolute privacy, sweet staff, great breakfast with fresh products. It is not a place for people in party mode or those with a busy nightlife. All people I met there (both staff and clients) were respectful to their environment, to nature, and to each other. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Very great place to visit! We did the guided Tour with Fatima and we really highly recommend it! She has a vast knowledge and you can see her passion for it! Also the young guy at the top cable car station was very friendly and helpful!

Visited the beach and did not stay at the accommodation which is ranked well. The location is beautiful but the beach has very little chairs or umbrellas on the concrete deck. Because of the lack of chairs it would be nice to have some decking on the rock beach. I am not sure why the resurant is reviewed highly because the food is very ordinary when compared to food at most places on the island. Some people mention the view. There are may places on the island you can eat with a beautiful sea view so the view does not make it worth it to eat there.

I sat just a few metres from the ocean, sipping a glass of house white wine — light, crisp, and local — while the waves rolled in over the pebbles. I ordered bolo do caco, the traditional Madeiran flatbread, served warm with garlic butter. Simple, delicious, and exactly right for the setting. This place doesn’t need flash or fanfare. The charm is in its quietness, its authenticity, and the feeling that you’ve stumbled upon somewhere almost secret. You don’t just visit Fajã dos Padres — you arrive there, with purpose and presence. It stays with you. A few tips: The cable car is paid but absolutely worth it. It’s well-maintained and runs smoothly. Check the operating hours before you go — it’s not open late, and you don’t want to miss the last return trip! If you're into photography, bring your best gear. The views down (and up) are breathtaking. Wear sensible shoes — some uneven ground, especially if you explore past the restaurant. --- Whether you're chasing adrenaline, calm, or just a glass of good wine by the ocean, Fajã dos Padres delivers. It’s one of those rare spots where the journey is as powerful as the destination.

We didn’t stay at the Hotel nor took the góndola, but just the view down the cliffs is breathtaking and impressive. They sell the produce from the gardens at the top.

An unforgettable stay in a true Madeira paradise Fajã dos Padres is magical—accessed by cable car, it feels like stepping into another world. The cottages are peaceful, cozy, and surrounded by ocean, orchards, and butterflies. Falling asleep to waves and waking up to birdsong was incredible. The farm tour is a must! Fatima was a fantastic guide—so knowledgeable and kind. We learned so much and saw beautiful monarch butterflies along the way. Fatima, Bruno, and the cable car team all went out of their way to make our stay special. This place is a rare gem, full of natural beauty, history, and heart. Great value and an experience we’ll never forget. Don’t miss it!

We forked out 30 euros to go down to the compound and have some food only to be confronted with a closed kitchen (which no longer cooks after 16:30). After drinks we went the other way, expensive outing for having generic drinks and seeing crabs on the pier.

This is an exceptional restaurant with the best quality service and food. My son is not a fan of fish or seafood but he tried the octopus starter (taberna style) and since then he's been nagging me to go back to this place. The restaurant is located in the port and the view from the terrace is just perfect. The service was prompt and the meals were fresh. I tried the green wine and it was delicious. Despite the location, the prices are reasonable and you get good value for your money.

After a long walk from Funchal, we chose this restaurant for a late lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the large selection of food and drinks. We chose the Paella with fish and seafood. I can recommend it, excellent. The environment is pleasant, both on the terrace and on the promenade. Toilets clean and functional.

Came here for lunch today. We sat upstairs on the terrace from which we could see the boats on the beach below. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and spoke good English. We had limpets to start, which we had never had before with garlic bread, followed by the grouper for 2 with veg which seemed to take a long time to prepare but worth the wait. I had the banana pudding for dessert which was quite delicious. A really tasty meal. I would recommend this restaurant.

Best view I saw from a restaurant. We had the Regional espetada and Lapas + bolo do Caco as a starter. We all loved. Child seats available there available. Car park is free, food is delicious and view is something else really.

The Worst Dining Experience in Madeira – Avoid at All Costs I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was truly the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in all of Madeira. I ordered what was supposed to be a grilled whole chicken, but what arrived was something else entirely – a strange square piece of chicken, completely burnt, flavorless, and lacking any decent seasoning. The side dishes didn’t fare any better. The baked potatoes were undercooked, and the fried ones were overburnt to the point of being inedible. The overall food quality was shockingly poor. To make things worse, the atmosphere was just as unpleasant. The staff seemed visibly unhappy and uninterested, which made us feel very unwelcome. On top of it all, the place was swarming with flies – completely unacceptable for a dining establishment. As a final touch, when it came time to pay, they tried to charge us for a large portion of boiled potatoes, even though we had clearly ordered the small size. They did correct it after we pointed it out, but it just added to the overall feeling of disorganization and carelessness. Unfortunately, nothing about this visit was pleasant. I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. There are many great places to eat in Madeira – this is not one of them.

The real secret food to Madeira! Best dinner we had m! We tried skewers and black scabbard fish with banana. They were fantastic. Also, we asked for a takeaway steak sandwiches for the hike next day and they were the best sandwiches we’ve ever tried. Great service and absolutely fanatic views! Highly recommend!

The view from the restaurant is just amazing. The staff are nice and friendly. The food quality was OK but the meat could have been a bit more fresh. The Espetada with bone had too much bone and we didn't get much meat from it and the total number of meat cubes they served for us was lower than tables that came a bit later! They said they would weigh the meat and you get the same weight as others but I could tell the difference between 5-6 pieces skewers and 7-8 ones. So a bit disappointed there. If you don't want to pay the price for bone's weight, go for the Espetada without bone.

Lovely restaurant with friendly and truthful waiters. We ate parrot fish which was fresh and was done perfectly and it was flavorful. We also had limpets they were also cooked nicely. But we didn’t like the texture . Might be it was our first time and had high expectations about limpets. They are chewy so we didn’t like them so much. Not our cup of tea I must say. We also ate prawns. And the waiter was truthful about them being frozen so +1 stars for such honesty. The prawns were flavorful .

We had a fantastic lunch at Gavião do Ilhéu. The mussels (six pieces) were perfectly marinated with just the right balance of garlic and lemon – absolutely delicious. The garlic bread was perfection, warm and full of flavor. The fish sandwich was incredible – fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Fries were okay, just standard frozen ones, but everything else more than made up for it. Highly recommend for the seafood and beautiful flavors. Service was friendly knowing that the area is touristy and the atmosphere overall is cool.

Excellent restaurant, a gem in Camara de Lobos. From service, very hospitable, and with a friendly staff who had a nice presentation of the food, fresher than here you cannot get. We wanted to try the fish, it was fresh caught in that morning, chose them and we received them grilled. Food was very tasty, not a big fan of fish in general, but this is something that I would definitely try again in the future. It's not the cheapest restaurant, but in the end it's all worth it.

They have great snappers, caught the same day. I recommend this restaurant to eat if you're in this area. They cook the fish so well and you get to see the actual fish before eating it. You know its good quality and they aren't just cooking you low budget fish out there. I loved the customer service. I didn't get her name, but there's a woman there that was always so friendly and kind to me. I'm glad I came here to eat twice. I hope to be back again

Fantastic down-home cooking at a good price. The roast chicken was tasty and tender. The cabbage salad with bacon was excellent. And the poncha had a good kick! Large portions too! Recommended.

Incredible food and service just a few minutes north of the lovely village of Camara de Lobos. Being born to a Madeiran family, I can truly say this is some of the best Churrasco chicken and Milho Frito I've ever had. The service was also incredible and I look forward to coming back on my next visit to Madeira.

Very good food. Pork kebap with apples and pepper steak were amazing. From the desserts we tried, I would highly recommend the madeiran cake with ice cream and the nikitas. Also, the baked chestnuts are a nice experience. All in all, would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Amazing view- a great spot for a lunch with astonishing landscape. Food is delicious - meat, fish and a large scope of vegetarian choices as well. Must have if you haven't eaten chestnuts in something else than pastry before. I tried scabbard fish with bananas before and was not amazed (for me it was a bit too sweet) but here they pair it with passion fruit sauce which was a nice contrast for me. The waiters are super friendly and smiling - best service ever, especially Leonel Diogo and Janete.

The view is spectacular, the idea for the cuisine - most dishes using chesnuts in some form or another - is amazing but the execution was a bit off - overcooked and hard pork (delicious sauce though), overcooked vegetables and cold chips. Maybe because it was a Saturday and too many people?

Chestnut based cuisine thats very tasty and the portions are large. Chicken and pork with chestnuts were delicious. Only thing that disappointed a bit was the chestnut beer - almost the same flavour as a regular dark beer but for 10E half litre.

Everything was really good and combination of delicious food, good service and this view was a perfect match for the lunch!

We just had some chestnut snacks but really enjoyed them: delicious roasted chestnuts and an interesting chestnut cream soup.

The vegetables are local, fresh and full of taste, the beef is juicy and perfectly prepared, the scabbard fish with banana is delicate and delicious. The Espetada, came out very gummy and filled with tendon. We tried telling the waiter that maybe the meat was old or maybe undercooked. Although, the waiter did not know English so we used google translate to get the message across, to which they reluctantly heated up the meat for us. Surprise! It was still tough, and we needed to spit out the rubbery pieces of meat. Very disappointing, since we came here just for the traditional Portuguese meat. The focaccia was flat, not fluffy, at least it was hot, although there wasn’t much herbs. Hope they improve on that. Salad tasted alright not too much sauce or oil.

We waited a long time for the food, the waiters are not the most friendly, the portions are very small and without any side dishes, and the prices are very high. The food was of average quality, especially the octopus. The food was very greasy and not spicy, tasteless.

I definitely don't recommend this horrible "restaurant". The quality is completely disproportionate to the prices, which are very high. We ordered a prosciutto pizza. For almost 17 euros, we received a small pizza with too much cheese, a few slices of very poor quality ham, and worst of all, it was undercooked, with almost raw dough! We also asked for seasonal fruits listed on the menu. The waiter said they don't have any seasonal fruits, but later when we asked for the homemade dessert, it turned out that we could get seasonal fruit after all. Really poor value and service. Very disappointing experience.

We stopped here on a cruise excursion for wine tasting and sampling local cheeses, breads, and dessert cake. It was all so very good and nice. Great views here. I would recommend it as a place to have on your list if in the area.

We have not finished our stay at this hotel yet. We are still here and we are enjoying every minute of it. It's a lovely hotel. We have got no complaints at all. The choice of food at breakfast is excellent. The staff are always well turned out. Reception staff are there to help you if you need them. They are very good. We would certainly stay here again.

We loved our meal at Varandas do Pedregal. The BBQ chicken and beef espetada were very good. They also had a dedicated large parking lot that I appreciate as a tourist driver. It has an unbeatable view as well.

Food was not good. We asked for octopus, Meat and Cod. The Meat was really bad, it was hard, lacking salt and the level of doneness was all wrong. The others were ok but not good enough compared to similar priced restaurants in the island.

The food was great, but we have to take down two stars for the service. First, we were told by the waitress to take off the phones from the table and put it in the bag, so that she can put the food there. Second and more important, the openong hours say it's open till 11pm, but we were told by the waitress at 10.15pm, if we could pay because they are to close in 10 min. (It's been 5mins after we got our dessert and glass of wine) and then the lady stand beside us while we were trying to bottom-up our drinks and finish the dessert. On the Bright side, when we asked for paper cups, we were given two of those and so we poured over the wine there.

Visited on a weeknight and the place was very quiet (this was all round) not much atmosphere. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains which included sides. The place could’ve done maybe with some music as otherwise very quiet being the only customers. The staff were attentive and polite. The food: seafood wise, not the best I’ve had with the only thing fresh was the shells, I felt the octopus was too soft and had too much oil. The meats on the other hand was delicious! Highly recommend the meat skewer and lamb chops. I enjoyed all the sides too. Overall we enjoyed the food, shame about the ambience and seafood. I’m sure it would be a lot better during the weekend.

Cute place that I recommend. I had some octopus for lunch and it was tasty and soft with some potatoes and vegetables. The lunch menu is very affordable. I only paid 17€ for the meal and a bottle of water.

Found this place by accident when following the art. Wonderful location with amazing views. You can see the steep cable car in the distance. We only wanted a light lunch so had the steak sandwich. It was delicious. Waiter was friendly and prompt to take our order.

Category: tourist area. This restaurant is one of many outdoor/indoor places lining the two busy restaurant streets in Câmara de Lobos. We chose it because another couple vacated an outside table at exactly the right moment, during the busy lunch service. We were able to sit perpendicularly to each other, which allowed both of us to sip our glasses of wine while viewing the fishing boats in the small harbor and the banana-laden hills above, and to people watch. I was most impressed with the wine list, which isn’t long but is printed on a label affixed to a wine bottle. I haven’t seen this anywhere else in the world. Brilliant! The menu offered the usual suspects for restaurants in this area. But it was here that we had our first-ever scabbard fish (pan-fried) and first-of-the-trip squid (Lagareiro style, which is kind of stewed). Both were well-prepared and tasty. Very nice place to have an eat or drink. We were positively surprised, since we didn't expect much at this touristy place, because every guide tells you to visit the village because Churchill was here. Still, that restaurant offers friendly service (in multiple languages), seating inside and outside to the harbor and the village side. Really loved the limpets!

My wife and I ate here yesterday and had a lovely experience. The food was great, the passion fruit scabbard was unlike any fish I’ve had but I well enjoyed it, along with the sides that it came with. My wife had the skewers and enjoyed them thoroughly! As good as the food was the environment and service was the highlight. Pedro waited out table and was a fantastic person, he was very tentative and excellent at his job. Moreover he was super informative; any questions my wife and I had he had an answer for. Truly a great person to have working around people visiting Madeira, the guy knows his stuff. The inside of the bar is fully CR7 themed, including several signed shirts. The drinks are quite good. However, the service was far from the friendliest.

One thing Madeira is famous for is its legendary Poncha. The best Poncha will always be found away from the center of Funchal and in the little fishing villages where it originated. The bar is also known as the "original Poncha bar." I have no clue if that is true or just great self-promotion. But the Poncha here is spot on! They even have one that is unique to their bar and is a "secret" recipe, and it is very good. The inside is literally a shire to Ronaldo. If you are a fan, that would make it worth the trip. Oh, if you're new to Poncha, be careful. It has a sneaky punch behind it.

Very nice to stop by for a poncha. Try their homemade version, it's delicious. Vasco Da Gama was also delicious.

This place quickly became one of my favorites. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about their customers. I came often enough that they started recognizing me and even knew my order as soon as I walked in. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants quality and great service. And if you're lucky, you'll catch Nuno putting on a little show—effortlessly spinning his tray with a smile, either by the door or right at your table, adding to the warm and fun atmosphere.

Went to Camara de Lobos for a day and had the best of times in this restaurant. Food was yummy and the Nikitas and Ponchas the best we had. The staff was super friendly and even gave us great transport tips. Loved it and will return next time we're back.

As soon as we entered the place, everyone was nice and helpful. It’s very clean and also very clever. Their music taste is good. We came in for lunch and had the traditional bolo do caco, then a prego and tuna sandwich. The large fries portion is quite big. Prices are pretty much regular. We had a very nice time here, you should definitely try it out!

We found this restaurant on our way to Freiras accidentally. We just wanted to stop for a cappuccino in the morning, but, when we realized their daily offer, after the hiking we returned for lunch. We didn't regret it. It was one of the best meals we had on the island. Everything is prepared absolutely fresh on the charcoal stove, divinely seasoned. Not only the food was amazing, the freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious, but we were also able to taste Madeira wines and Beirao. The staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. If you can do it just come here and feel free to try anything on the menu. There is a big terrace with fantastic view. The 5 star is not enough, I would give them 10.

This restaurant has hands down the best mussels I've ever had. Because the mussels here were so good, my buddy and I ordered mussels at every other restaurant we visited in Madeira hoping they would be as good as the ones at La Perla, but they never were. It's inexplicable how good they were. The butter garlic parsely sauce with lemon was just perfect. Of course everything else we got was also delicious but I will think about those mussels for the rest of my days.

A beautiful view of the valley and a cold Coca-Cola. These are the only advantages of this "restaurant". Food terrible. We ordered grilled chicken and ribs. There were more bones than meat in the chicken (we expected grilled breast, but what we got, I don't know what, maybe the back?) and the ribs were a maximum of 0.5 cm thick and had probably been reheated several times and burnt. Hard as the rocks visible around. The service was nice, but you should avoid this place because of the very bad food.

the first place we ate in Madeira and after having eaten similar dishes at many other places in Porto Moniz and Funchal, I can confidently say that this place has the best picado in all of Madeira, not the mention the value for money is unmatched. lunch with an amazing view over nun’s valley. the portions are all very generous and worth every cent! we spent total €50-60 for 4 adults and were all left full and satisfied! there is quite limited parking outside of the restaurant, but you can park along the street opposite as we did. i would definitely recommend stopping by at this place, i would say it is worth going out of your way to drive here simply to enjoy delicious food with a spectacular view. it was also here i learnt that poncha is an alcoholic drink (and very strong), for €3, i was expecting a fruit juice…

The Top Restaurant really does live up to its name! We had an excellent experience all round — the food, the service, the atmosphere — all superb. But the view? Absolutely breathtaking. If you’re planning to take a camera, make sure you set yourself a strict time limit so you don’t end up letting your food go cold while you chase the perfect shot! I’d definitely recommend The Top Restaurant if you’re in the area — in fact, it would be an unforgettable place to propose to someone, especially if it’s their first time there. They’d never forget the moment. That said, considering the altitude, it’s probably not the best place to broach a difficult subject or start an argument — it’s a long way down!

Extraordinary views at the top! Delicious food, we had the fish with banana and maracujá sauce, very unique! The wine was good, live music was delightful and staff was friendly. They have a balcony on the top were you can take photos. Where ever you sit there is a view as the restaurant has windows everywhere!

The views from The Top is exeptional. Eat your meal and watch it go dark and all the lights come on below. The food was excellent with a Ukrainian twist. Would strongly recommend an evening meal here. We booked online and got a window seat.

This restaurant located at the top of the hill, offers magnificent views which are worth the trip. The drinks were good but food, on the other hand, is not extraordinary. The octopus was just ok, the veggie hamburger, and the ribeye were good, and the espada was very unusual and worth the try . We skipped the dessert. The room is a bit cold and lacks decor. It’s too bad as the location is wonderful!!!

Lovely restaurant and lovely food but somewhat lacking in atmosphere with so few guests. The view across the bay was sublime. The food was well cooked and well presented and not too expensive, the wine I thought was slightly overpriced. The service was great with no language problems.

First thing is this place has lovely views of the harbour and the town. Can't be beaten for that!! The service was efficient and friendly and the portion sizes were ample....maybe too ample and I'm 6’ 4" and enjoy my food lol! But that's not a negative. Just don't eat it all if you can't manage it 🙂 The fish risotto, was tasty, but a bit one dimensional in terms of both flavour and texture. So after a few mouthfuls I was already thinking I'd had enough. Maybe needed different types of fish or some prawns etc to bring new flavours and textures into the mix?? My other half had the beef espetada, which was huge! The waiter said it was 250g, but genuinely looked like double that! It was requested rare and it definitely came as requested. Too rare for me to try, but by all accounts it was tender and flavoursome. Also negative for the meal were the sides. They were literally just that....on the side. For a restaurant like this, charging what they were, it would have been nice to see the sides incorporated into the dish in some way. Not sure we'd go back as there are far better offerings IMO in the town. Il Vivaldi's and Armazem Do Sal to name but two.. Overall though, we don't regret going there and would recommend it if you're in Camara De Lobos

Fantastic lunch! Dined at the restaurant (Pier One Restaurant) after walking from Funchal. The food was excellent and the service was very good too. We had the seafood pasta and steak sandwich. Nice view overlooking the harbor.

A lovely terrace bar overlooking the bay of Câmara de Lobos. Enjoy grilled specialities and cocktails or just try the local favourite Nikita and watch the world go by. It’s getting very popular so try this great place before it gets crowded out.

The staff was very friendly and attentive, delicious food. I had a beef Befana with mushroom sauce and my husband had a fresh fish called Dorada. Both dishes was nice!

Stunning view. Before taking us to our table, we were shown the fresh fish and taken through each catch. I ordered the sea bream, it was some of the best fish I have ever eaten. Really friendly, quick service (Thank you George and the others). Highly recommend!

Perfect location for lunch or a sunset dinner. We came for dinner, and the view from the terrace did not disappoint. We had the grilled fish of the day with sides... the snapper was fresh and absolutely delicious. Our host Raquel was so friendly and attentive. She made us feel comfortable and nothing was a bother. Dessert was also delicious and we got a banana and passionfruit liquor taster at the end of the night on the house. Loved this place, will be back again 😊

The view is fantastic. Starter and Fish was ok. It would have been nice if the plates had been preheated. Then the fish wouldn't have gotten cold again after just 5 minutes. The waitress took the fish apart after it was cooked. Unfortunately, it ended up looking more like a mushy mess. The dessert was not the best we had these days. Overall, it's too expensive.

Food was delicious and economic. The waitor was extremely friendly and spoke perfect English! He checked on us couple times whether we had everything and if it was ok. Very recommended. You can ha have a "plate of day" for 7,50€ and reallly huge portions. It was super tasty and good welcomed to Madeira. Thank you!

We wanted to stay for 15 min, ended up staying here for 2 hours and eating half the menue. Every dish is delicious and freshly cooked. Father and mother are the chef, the super friendly son is working in the bar as waiter. Also a good espresso! Strongly Recommended!!

For a place that have burguer on the name, they are definitely lacking on the main ingredient, a BURGER! The food was terrible. The only thing I would recommend is the potato nugget thing and the garlic mayo that comes with it. Seriously, just eat at McDonald's or Burger King.

Nice 24/7 hamburger bar. Quick service and friendly staff. The menu is short but the quality is good. Serves hamburgers, kebabs, soup, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, salads and pregos. Decent selection of drinks in the bar. Toilets are suitable for movement impaired clients. Spacious parking.

Came for the beers, stayed for the food. Was only going for a couple of pints, saw the tasty food brought out. Was hesitant of the chicken wrap (as always abroad), went for the Prego da casa (1€ more), house sandwich. And boy could I go more right! 🔥👊 Excellent steak sandwich with cheese an ham + chips, 6,50€. I higly recomend this taproom! Was worried it said closed on Sundays, but it was open never the less. Mayby because tomorrow is Independe day July 1 on Madeira. 🇵🇹🥂

Excellent bar. Had their own local beer which was delicious at 4e a bottle, along with around 5 various styled Portuguese craft beers on tap approximately 2e to 4e. The ham and cheese toasties were to die for at 2.8e each. Beer and food served with a few crisps. The staff were friendly and attentive. There was also an extensive range of bottled beers with an awesome Belgium selection. Some in the region of 8 to 10e but they are obviously imported so the price is to be expected. Cracking venue with good music which was not too loud. Heartily recommend.

A cozy environment, suitable for a good time with family, friends or children. The food served is super good, the drinks are highly recommended, from craft beer to typical Portuguese beer. The live music is the cherry on top of the cake! I love it!

Simple food but absolutely delicious and super cheap. Great atmosphere. And did I say cheap? Ham toast with chips is only 2€ and super tasty with fast service.

I have to say I was very disappointed in the accommodations at this hut. I’ll just camp in a tent next time and save my €30. The showers were cold, every room had a horrid smell of mold as you can see it clearly on the walls in all the rooms which I don’t believe to be safe to breathe in those mold spores. 🥴. The water was shut off at 9:00PM 🤯 and the lights. The bed was from the early 1900’s along with the mattresses. I have stayed in Refugios all over the world in very remote places where helicopters bring in supplies and this was one of the worst especially for the amount they charge. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I am fairly modifiable. Hopefully all the money they make off the few that do stay in these awful conditions, they will update the rooms and mattresses.

I had a very positive experience. Most negative reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt - I think expecting warm showers, constant electricity, and heating at an isolated mountain hut on a small island for €20 per night is unrealistic. The hut, nearly 2000m high and remote, met all of our expectations. The staff are also very friendly and were happy to help with anything we asked. I highly recommend staying here for a night to enjoy the stunning sunset and sunrise in peace.

Stuff was really nice, you need cash or revolut. They have some beers, snacks and water. Water in the shower is always cold, rooms are very old, but after few days sleeping in the tent it was perfect.

Especially for those who are used to frequenting the Alps, a refuge is a place of essentials. But here we are truly beyond that. One can accept the scarcity of water (not to mention the absence of it), the lack of food, and the beds made of wooden planks that are absolutely uncomfortable. However, I had never seen a refuge keeper refuse water to a hiker who wanted to spend the night near the refuge just because it was outside of opening hours. We ended up giving the boy a bottle ourselves. I hope the management changes because the place and the refuge have great potential.

Had a great stay at the refuge, and was warmly welcomed by the host, who lit a fire in the evening and was very talkative and friendly. Rooms are basic but comfortable, as to be expected in a mountain hut. In the winter months it may be worth bringing an extra blanket as it gets quite cold at night (no electricity after 8pm). Well worth a stay to see the sunrise and sunset from the peak (5-10 min walk from the refuge).

I had a very good experience! Based on the supercritical comments on internet came with realistic expectations and prepared (drinks, smth to eat and charger (the electricity indeed is switched off during night)). On the prices at the shop - well, they are bringing each piece up on their backs, so good there is an option at all, so no complaints. The guys were friendly and allowed to use the kitchen. The greatest part though is after the shop closes and the people numbers reduce significantly allowing to enjoy the mountain top fully - both for the sundown and rise. Unique and definately a much safer option than to arrive or depart during darkness. The toilet issue indeed a problem, but smth for the local authorities, not the hut.
