1Hotel Le Mas De Castel

Hotel
Hotel Le Mas De Castel is a charming farmhouse-turned-hotel located just under 2 miles from the historic center of Sarlat-la-Caneda. It offers a peaceful countryside retreat with simple rooms featuring free Wi-Fi, each with a unique style. The hotel boasts amenities such as a heated outdoor pool, a garden, and a restaurant. Guests can enjoy the serene terrace and take advantage of leisure options like the solarium and complimentary parking.
Roby and Karine were very friendly and helpful. It was lovely to be greeted at breakfast by Roby who answered all our questions and made us feel at home. He also had wonderful recommendations about things to do and see in the area. Karine was an excellent communicator as we made the reservations, and insured that all of our needs were met while we were there. The internet worked really well and was secure. The hotel has a lovely view of a long sloping lawn with fruit trees. The swimming pool was warm even on a cold day. The hotel was about an 8 minute drive from town and really kept us out of the hubbub of the tourist traffic in Sarlat. We stayed for eight nights and felt like Roby was a friend by the time we left. We highly recommend this hotel to anybody who is visiting the area. Thank you Roby and Karine for such a wonderful stay.

My partner and I were very satisfied with our choice because Hotel Le Mas de Castel is very balanced in several regards: - It is quiet, peaceful and perfect for couples but there were a few families staying with young children and yet it was perfectly easy to coexist. - The rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished but not in a way that would feel overdone. As a result, the environment is truly relaxing. - The heated pool is my definition of heaven: a reasonable size, without bells and whistles. You just dive in, settle down and enjoy yourself. No unnecessary upbeat music, no sipping cocktails or champagne while posing on floating mats - less is more. You are able to fully take in Dordogne, be it from the water of from the recliner chairs around the pool. Karine and Roby (the owners) are warm, welcoming and thoughtful.

A really amazing place. So peaceful and relaxing and the hosts are so attentive to your needs. A superb pool and grounds, and so well situated to explore Sarlat and the amazing surrounding areas. We all agreed saying it was one of our most favourite holidays and places, I would highly recommend! The only thing I would suggest is to ask for a mini fridge when you book. There is no restaurant on site (they do a great breakfast though), so if you want to have some cold drinks or buy your own food rather than go to a restaurant every night, you'll need to request a fridge so you can store it all. We asked for one whilst we were there and they were very helpful in getting one for us, but I think it's best to ask in advance otherwise there may not be one available. (Note they also do a lovely charcuterie board if you want that in the evening, although you need to request it in the morning, but that's one way around not having a fridge) Overall though we loved it and would definitely stay again if we're in the area.
John V — Google review
Set in a quiet rural area but still within 10 minutes drive of the medieval town of Sarlat and conveniently placed for exploring the many attractions of the area. The hotel is very attractive and the attention to even the smallest detail is apparent. The room was spotless, they even provide a towel for your dog should you bring one. We would certainly return and recommend this hotel to others.
Colin B — Google review
A fantastic boutique hotel literally minutes from Sarlat but in beautiful countryside. The rooms are generous in size and were pristinely clean. The Hosts, Karine and Robie are brilliant and happy to help should you require anything. Thoroughly enjoyed our week here.
Niks P — Google review
At long last, a place to come home to. The rooms are light and airy. The open plan layout worked beautifully for our family of 3 adults. It was rainy, and we were tired after 5 days of sightseeing and walking in all the most beautiful towns of Bordeaux. We decided to stay in and rest. The calmness of the surrounds and nature revived our body, mind, and souls. The only tip would be to change the bathroom to not be an entire whet room but to put in shower glass to prevent the wash basin and toilet to get whet when you take a shower.
Sonja-Liezel T — Google review
Beware - one superior double room has no window. And the terraces for the premium rooms are unbearably hot if it’s warm - full sun. Pool is lovely, breakfast is nice. Location is quiet and rural, but far from town
Diane M — Google review
We have recently just stayed for a week at the Hotel Le Mas de Castel and it was fantastic. Roby and Karine were amazing hosts and were so nice to me and my husband - as I am pregnant. It really felt like a little family there. They even gifted me a bottle of wine to enjoy after the baby comes which was such a lovely thing to do and their kindness will stay with me for a long time. Breakfast was a lovely experience, sitting out in the sunshine overlooking the beautiful gardens. The food was very varied so you don't have to have the same thing every day! The whole hotel was very clean, our room was spacious and clean and the bathroom was very roomy - lovely. We slept very well every night in the peaceful surroundings! The pool is absolutely beautiful, a lovely temperature and kept so clean! The hotel itself is just five minutes drive from Sarlat centre and within an hour of countless beautiful medieval villages and towns - we visited somewhere new each day. I would recommend getting a car. All in all we cannot fault. I will be back next year when I can relax in the garden with our new addition and a nice, cold glass of wine!

2La Maison des Peyrat

Hotel
La Maison des Peyrat is a charming 14th-century guesthouse located in Sarlat-la-Caneda. The rustic-chic rooms feature original features and antique furnishings, creating a tranquil and romantic atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the rambling gardens and a heated outdoor pool. The hotel offers free WiFi, parking, and is within walking distance of attractions such as Place de la Liberte and Lanterne des Morts.
This lovely place gave us everything we wanted from the French countryside in the Dordogne region -- beauty, peace, warmth, deliciousness, and kindness, along with so many special details that show the attention, care, and great taste of the owners. La Maison des Peyrats allows you to be near but not in the middle of the busy, crowded town of Sarlat -- we could enjoy all that Sarlat has to offer because we were outside the fray. If you like to walk, you can easily get into town by foot in 12-15 minutes ... an easy downhill walk on the way in, and a vigorous uphill walk on the return. Of course you can drive, too. Some details about this special space: rooms are super-tasteful and comfortable, bathrooms modern, outdoor pool is warm and sunny. Breakfast is ample, varied, and delicious (including the owner's homemade jellies from his own and neighbors' fruit arbors) and is served in a lovely room, along with many inviting outdoor seating options too. If you want elevators (some rooms are one flight up) and air conditioning, this may not be the place for you (I'll offer that nights were cool and the stone building keeps interiors cool in any case) -- but if you want to relax in a beautiful spot where the owners care about your experience and have created an elegant but relaxing haven with so many special touches, you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. Our deep thanks to the proprietors for this memorable experience!

A lovely guest house in Sarlat, situated up the hill from the town - a good walk, or a 5 minute drive. Our room was clean and nicely furnished. No fridge in room. A good bathroom with plenty of space, and a good shower. No aircon, but the weather was exceptionally hot and the velux window in the ceiling helped. The grounds are pretty and the pool very welcome. Breakfast was buffet style, with breads, eggs, compote and cheese and meats. Nice dining-room. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful, with maps and advice for visiting various tourist sites. Would definitely recommend.

What an exceptionally beautiful find. I really could not have wished for more on an overnight stay. I wish I could have stayed longer. This is a family run bed and breakfast is done to a very high standard. The couple that run it are welcoming and friendly. After a great nights sleep I stayed for breakfast which was served outside in the welcome shade of the large tree. Breakfast was a traditional fresh continental breakfast of fresh strawberries, croissant, bread, jam and I had an omelette. Everything was excellent, a little hidden gem. Thank you for my stay I hope to be back soon. Xxx
Lisa E — Google review
Great service, and heavenly breakfast with local products. Close to Sarlat historical center. Rooms are ok, nothing special. The only downside is that the building is an old farm, and walls are REALLY thin. Most clients are quiet, but if you are unlucky and fall on some noisy people, I can imagine you can have trouble sleeping.
Ariat — Google review
Lovely and quiet place. Showing signs of wear in bedrooms. Same breakfast for 5 day stay is boring. Toilet area in room 8 is impossible if you are older than 10 years
Howard W — Google review
Beautiful place, even in a coldish day of November. Very quiet. The owners are extremely friendly and breakfast is in the 5 star category. Add to that that pets are welcome (a cat and a dog live there) and really it's impossible to complain. Definitely worth a visit.
Folco B — Google review
Lovely hotel with a very kind, friendly and helpful owner. Lovely breakfast. Well worth the 10 minute walk from (the nicest part of) Sarlat town.

This hotel is incredible. Definitely a hidden gem. The scenery is amazing and the hosts are exceptionally friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

Hotel Plaza Madeleine À Sarlat is an upscale establishment located in the heart of Sarlat-la-Caneda. It features a seasonal outdoor pool, a spa with massage services, and recreational amenities such as an indoor pool, spa tub, and sauna. The hotel offers polished rooms with city views and pet-friendly options. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant and bar while taking in scenic views.
Nice little boutique hotel, centrally located at the beginning of the old city in Sarlat. Clean, comfortable and quiet hotel. Rooms are adequate in size and the AC works great. Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is €19 pp and probably not worth it for a limited buffet, but you're paying for the convenience.

This was a very nice hotel in Sarlat-la-Canéda. It’s walking distance to town, restaurants and parks. The receptionists are very friendly. It attracts groups, so be ready to wait.
Z J — Google review
Modern hotel with perfect location in medieval Sarlat. The rooms show hints of age but the service is unparalleled. I want to specifically thank Salomé at the front desk and the guys behind the bar for making my stay so warm and comfortable.
Mike H — Google review
We had five nights here, unusual for us to stay anywhere so long but we are so glad we did. From the first moment we were made to feel welcome and appreciated as customers. The front desk team are the best! Our room on the first floor was opposite the spa, which we used on a few occasions. With an outdoor pool it’s a lovely place to be even when the weather isn’t that great. Try the cherry cocktail in the bar - very good. And you must also try the wine dispenser. What a fantastic way to sample a range of wines, which you can study and taste in your own time. Great fun and great wine! The hotel has spacious and secure parking which is a short and pleasant walk away. It has Tesla Destination chargers and facilities for charging other EVs. This was the icing on the cake for us and meant we could park our car and forget it for a few days. Thank you Hotel Madeleine for making our first trip to Perigord the highlight of our many trips to France. We can’t wait to return x

I confess I only use the bar or go for coffee, but I always find the staff warm, friendly and being in a warm cosy atmosphere, hence why I always visit.
K H — Google review
Very nice hotel within steps of Sarlat’s pedestrian district. Comfortable rooms, pleasant and helpful staff, nice heated pool. Highly recommend the terrace room where the pool is two steps from your door, yet you have good privacy on your terrace. Has a parking garage, which is very nice, but be aware it’s about a 5-7 minute walk to get there (all flat).
Alan B — Google review
The hotel is beautiful, with comfy rooms and beds. The pool is nice, especially the outdoor jacuzzi is delightful. The sauna is great, too. Avoid the cocktail bar, though. They don't appear to know classic cocktails and the seasonal one from their menu was prepared with Fanta.
Paul L — Google review
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in a standard room. We enjoyed the pool and sauna. The breakfast was good but the selection could be a bit better. We didn't like the cocktail bar. The waiter ignored us for 15 min and then didn't know any cocktails that were not listed on the menu. We ordered their signature cocktail in the end and it turned out to be a soda based drink which wasn't good.

Hotel De Compostelle is a cozy accommodation located in the heart of Sarlat-la-Caneda, just a short walk from popular attractions like Place du Marche aux Oies and Manoir de Gisson. The hotel offers comfortable rooms with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Guests can also enjoy the outdoor pool, sauna, and fitness center during their stay. The hotel's cocktail bar and garden terrace provide perfect spots to unwind after a day of exploring the city.
Our family really enjoyed staying here it's a short walk to the Village and breakfast was perfect to start the day. The pool was perfect for a hot day to cool down. The rooms were very cozy and large but beds were comfortable and clean. You can definitely lose track of time if you use the sun shades because it gets extremely dark in there. Staff is extremely helpful and nice. There's parking right around the corner so no need to worry about street parking.
Paul N — Google review
Our stay at this hotel was a great experience. Rooms were spacious and modern with air conditioning. Breakfast was great and the location to the town centre was just 100 mtrs away. There was also private parking. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were so helpful and you could tell they cared about making your stay nice. I asked the owner if he could book us a taxi to the train station and he said he would take us and refused to take any money. A real gentleman. Sarlat is a beautiful town and 100% worth visiting. I would recommend this hotel for all the above reasons.
Gary M — Google review
Modern, comfortable and very welcoming family run hotel. Less than ten minutes from the mediaeval centre of Sarlat, it offers Avery good base from which to explore the town. Excellent breakfast. The owners' grandson acts as concierge and general factotum (helped by his father!) and is ever ready to help in any way he can. Excellent and strongly recommended.

Located in the heart of Sarlat-la-Caneda, Hotel ibis Sarlat offers a convenient and comfortable stay. The hotel features soundproofed and air-conditioned rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and parking. Guests can enjoy the scenic views from the terrace and garden. Additionally, amenities include a snack bar, fine grocery store, and a cozy cafe for relaxation.
Fantastic hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We got stranded for a week after picking up a tyre puncture. My French is poor. Some staff speak English. Everyone tries really hard to make you feel welcome and nothing is too much. Our two dogs were welcome too. Chrome Cast available in the rooms too so we were able to watch Netflix via our phone apps on the tvs. Helps to have English programming yo watch. Highly recommended.
Sharon W — Google review
The staff were absolutely fabulous - all of them were friendly, helpful and professional with big smiles when greeting you. The hotel was clean and tidy even though work was being carried out. Location was perfect. The major problem was that I booked a room with air conditioning only to be told that it was not working - NOT at the time of booking (as it should be) but a couple of days later. I was then told it was the owners "green initiative" not to put it on. If the owner does have this green initiative it should be stated on the website. Very disappointed.
Tracey S — Google review
A nice hotel for overnight. It’s close to the downtown, has its parking (but was full when we arrived). The staff is nice and friendly. Rooms are clean but look quite unusual (bathroom). Nothing special. It’s just a simple Ibis which will work for overnight stays. So it’s a good value for money.
AK A — Google review
Good standard ibis. Quiet location short walk to the centre of sarlat. Some areas for improvement but overall an enjoyable couple of nights.
Peter L — Google review
Staff were patient, helpful and efficient. Rooms were clean and comfortable
Denis C — Google review
A well maintained Ibis, with good parking and with rooms that for the standards of this chain are relatively large (which means they are comparable to a normal hotel room). As in all Ibis, there are electrical outlets only in one spot, namely in the very far corner of the room by the window. Nothing by the bed or anywhere else.
Tobias M — Google review
Perfectly situated for easy pedestrian access to town, spotlessly clean and with a good breakfast.

While the hotel is situated just a short drive from Sarlat, it provides a peaceful retreat with its terrace and seasonal outdoor pool.
Excellent in every way, from food to rooms to location to beds and room design. Ignore those who complain about the long walk into town. It is quite a way, but you can do it in 20 minutes or so, or take your car and drive, and it becomes really easy. The reception staff will show you the easiest and best way to drive or walk, and where best to park if you drive to town. All in all, top rated.
