While this is a definite local hangout with a unique vibe and lots of various cocktails and beers, we were recommended to go there for the food by our guide. Unfortunately, when we went the food was awful. My wife had steak, which was poor quality and overcooked. I ordered pork ribs, which was not what I got but I’ll chock that up to “lost in translation”. But the pork was also poor quality and had little flavor. Go for a cocktail and local flare but do not eat there.

TERRIBLE, 5 different waiters could’t get an order right. They had no food left apart from fries by 8. Don’t come here. Just go eat somewhere else, and if you come maybe order a beer at the bar, that should be easy to get it right!

The drinks a pretty good here. The food is okay, the night I went, they didn’t have most items on the menu. There also was a show the night I went, which made it a little bit harder to get a server, but I understand. Overall, this is definitely a place locals go to grab a drink and hang out.

The service was great as they were all very friendly and helpful. Great drinks and delicious Chilean food. The live music (a man singing to playback) that started at 9 pm was quite entertaining. All in all, it's a very cozy and local place where we spent a very nice evening.

We ordered tuna and beef steak. The tuna was excellent. Respect to the chef because the beef steak was prepared according to art but the quality of the meat was good for a goulash. The wine was wonderful.

The location is great and the view is absolutely stunning. That said, the overall experience was just okay. The food was fine—not terrible, but far from exciting. We started with the shrimp ceviche, which could’ve been great… if the shrimp had been seasoned. As it was, they were bland and the dish felt flat. For the mains, there was a huge contrast between what my partner got and what I was served. He had a beautifully plated beef tenderloin with a squash purée, something green I couldn’t identify, and a crispy serrano ham tuile on top. It looked refined and appetizing. I, on the other hand, got a white fish fillet on risotto with a lone slice of lime on top. The presentation was uninspired—honestly, it gave off hospital food vibes. The fish was likely overcooked and lacked flavor. I had asked what kind of fish it was, and after a name I didn’t catch, the server just said “whitefish.” I assumed something light and flaky—like the Chilean version of cod or sole maybe—but it turned out to be something closer to swordfish, which I really don’t like and never would have ordered knowingly. To end, we had the chocolate lava cake. It came with a lovely raspberry sorbet, but they drowned the plate in an overly sweet berry jam that totally overpowered the dessert. Disappointing. Service didn’t really make up for the food either. The staff seemed overwhelmed—we waited quite a while before anyone came to our table, and no one came back to check on us after our meals were served. That lack of attention brought the experience down even more. Beautiful spot for the view, but I wouldn’t go back for the food or the service.

Eating here is simply a pleasure. The food is delicious and the scenery is great. There are a lot of people here. We are afraid that there are no seats to wait at the door in advance. Go for the view, stay for the food and especially the great drinks. A pisco sour on the terrace with this panorama in front of you is priceless, and yet the prices are very reasonable, especially considering how touristy (and famous) the place is. Treat yourself, come for an aperitif or early dinner at sunset and you will not be disappointed. Sometimes it is fun to find "hidden gems", but in this case it is well worth it to go with the flow and enjoy a spectacular location, great service, excellent terrace with a view and good food, well deserving its fame. Definitely recommended!

Did not have a great experience here. It took forever for the waiter to come and take our order. When I ordered a beer, it again, took way too long and and he seemed slightly annoyed and confused. There were only two other tables in the restaurant so it’s not as if they were super busy. We ordered the only two vegetarian dishes on the menu that weren’t listed under Pizza, and surprise, one of them was actually also a pizza just a bit thinner and named “churrascada”. Both dishes were ok at best. The eggplant was just covered in not very good cheese (i mean I love cheese, but come on..) and had a mound of fried potato’s next to it and the churrascada is basically a thin pizza. Maybe we came in on an off day, but I can’t recommend it unfortunately.

Highly recommend tio bar for dinner and drinks. We got a few small plates to share, all of which were amazing! Cocktails are also really well made and affordable.

Holy hell this place is AMAZING!!! The Rubi may be the most interesting cocktail I’ve ever had in my life. The care and craft of each cocktail is a joy to watch and to drink. The price is great and the food is the cherry on top of the whole experience. I unfortunately didn’t get anyone’s name but all the staff working on 1/17 were phenomenal! Highly highly recommend!

1st cocktail - Godfather - they make it on Jameson, quite bad / 2nd cocktail - Negroni - we ask a specific gin and vermouth, very much ok, nothing can really go wrong with good ingredients / 3rd cocktail - White Lady - they randomly charge twice for a specific gin (same price as the previous one), because “they never did this cocktail before”. Great place to have random juices cocktails over dosed with water, don’t even know basic cocktails without googling them.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. This is a hidden gem, especially if you like legitimate bartenders who make real drinks. The bar has a quiet speak-easy feel to it. Very cool place. Good selection of top shelf whiskey. Highly recommend

Nice wee bar with good drinks, decent gins and they can martini! Also the bar has seats so you can sit and watch the goings on which is something I rate highly in bars.

La Sebastiana is another of the wonderful worlds of Pablo Neruda. From the big windows you'll understand why he loved Valparaiso and its colours.

One of the most beautiful places in Chile! I found this place on a Google search as I was looking for a day trip from Santiago. It's about 2 hrs away but a pretty drive in the fall. The town is built on a hill and is a major port of the country. The old buildings are so colorful and pretty! There are lots of good seafood restaurants in the area. Very nice area to walk around. The roads are narrow and tough for cars. Some good viewpoints of the ocean and city as well. Need to come back to explore more!!

This hill is one of the most touristy parts of Valpo so you definitely should check it out, but you can skip the restaurants up there because you're paying for prime real estate instead of the food. It's certainly very colorful and you have to walk through it if you are on a walking tour.

Walk this Neighbourhood. Valparaíso is not a beautiful city, but a rather badly maintained mix of architecture, while having the typical chaos and rowdiness of a traditional port city. Nevertheless the Cerro Concepción thrives in this, allowing the liberty of art and alternative lifestyles to express themselves here. Most houses are covered in graffiti art (or not so art), making for a pleasant walk along its narrow streets and many photo opportunities.

Nice hill, plenty of little restaurants, there are some public terraces with bay view and lot of streets that go around rustic places. This is a very old city with history all around.

A must visit if you are in Valparaiso. Join the free touring guides. The have red/white t-shirts and gather at the square near the harbour.

I just had a short look and a bottle of water , all very good , amazing view,a fantastic mix of Loft , retro modern , spacious place on 2 floors. I need to come again and try the drinks and food , next time .... Everybody was very friendly, no problem of taking pictures or just have water. Cool location, check it out.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at El Internado — we split the chicken salad and shredded beef. Both were above average. We appreciated how this restaurant has a unique view of the Valparaíso hillside vs the classic view of the ocean. I got a glass of the house Merlot which was also very good. Staff was attentive and spoke English well. I recommend stopping by if you are looking for a casual dinner spot.

I had the hamburger internado and it was really good with generous serve: this burger definitely compares with the ones served in Australia where i live. The view at sunset and night is stunning. We waited a full hour for a cheeseburger. The waiter visited our table twice the entire time. After we finished eating, we sat and waited for over thirty minutes for him to either offer us dessert or the check before we finally got up to hunt him down ourselves. I'm not certain that we just had a terrible waiter; the place seems wildly understaffed.

I had a very tasty lunch here last week with a friend. The dining room is dominated by a very old, wooden bar that is quite beautiful and historic. There's an old cash register and other antique items that add to the flavor of the place. The food was quite good. For an appetizer, we shared Machas a la Parmesana. They were good but a bit overcooked. For the main dish I had grilled reineta with mixed salad and my friend had paila marina. Everything arrived quickly and was good. There was only one waiter, but he was extremely efficient and attentive. While we were there a charming street musician came in with an accordion and he played and sang several songs which we enjoyed quite a lot. The rest of the time we were there the sound system was playing all Elvis songs (there are many Elvis and Marilyn Monroe photos on the walls). Just as we were leaving, the waiter switched the music to tangos, I wish I had asked him to change the music earlier!

Bar La Playa is a historic bar with a lot of charm. Unfortunately I did not have any of the food (I hear the seafood is delicious), but I did enjoy several of the best Pisco Sours that I had my entire time in Chile! 10/10 would come back here!

just awful went with my kids there as I plan on having a good time and nice food.. i didn't even look at the prices cause my goal was to have fun unfortunately we had to wait for more than 40 minutes to discover our food order was lost.. pisco sour are great but the most expensive in chile we found a hair in our empanada and the food was cold and under cooked...great place with bad administration thats clear so do yourself a favor go there take a selfie and get the hell our of there running and screaming.

On a cold and rainy day we sought refuge in La Playa for lunch. The very attentive waiter treated us to his own version of "menu del dia' with a delicious seafood soup, roast chicken and salad and for my friends, a tasty fried fish and a small desert. We had a reasonable carmenere wine and all in all it made for a perfect stop. Although we speak very little Spanish, the elderly waiter, who has been working there for many, many years was gracious and made many attempts to make our visit special.

Located inside/next to Cafe Vinilo so look for that on google maps instead. Super cute cocktail bar. We had pisco sours and they were yummy. The people next to us had pizza and that looked incredible as well!

A bit tricky to find but I think it’s now part of vinilo so look for that instead and you’ll be right. They make all their cocktails using pisco and they were delish. Highly recommend the manzana (apple) and ginger one. Very restorative on a cold Winter evening! Service was relaxed, helpful and friendly. Sorry we missed the jazz night. That looks like a corker of an evening.

Valparaíso City was disappointing during my visit. The streets felt unsafe, especially at night, with little police presence. Cleanliness is a major issue—there's trash in many areas, and some parts smell bad. The city’s infrastructure looks run-down with poor sidewalks and broken roads, making it hard to walk around comfortably. While the colorful buildings and murals are beautiful, they’re overshadowed by the city’s neglect. It has potential, but it needs a lot of improvement to feel welcoming.

My darling wife says this is the best seared tuna she has had on all our world journeys. I tasted it and I agree. Great location and cool building. Reception could be a bit more helpful, possibly give some local tips like in other places, rather than just ‘hi’. The bathroom was a bit tired looking and the bed very squeaky. Unfortunately there was a plague of termites on our first evening. After an initial clean up that we did, we eventually had to get up on the night and get help from reception with bug spray (most helpful). We then needed to have the window closed and had to ask for a fan as there’s no a/c or way of ventilating the room without the window open. But it would have been better if reception had told us it was happening to make sure windows were shut and so on. We ended up with a room full of dead termites and shed wings which was pretty disgusting. Lastly, on check out the woman who took payment was extremely unfriendly, no smile, no ‘I hope you had a good stay, have a good day, thank you for staying with us’ which left a sour taste in the mouth. these things are so easy to remedy by just paying a bit more attention to details and making more of an effort.

This was such a beautiful hotel! The history of the building and renovation was very interesting. Our room 11 was very nice and clean with a great view. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was hot with good pressure, and the staff was very polite. The restaurant was great as well. We had dinner and breakfast. The options are very good and the breakfast spread was incredible and fresh. We had no complaints here and would love to come back if we’re lucky enough to visit Valparaiso again!

Had a really nice meal at El Pimentón during my day trip in Valparaíso. The vegetarian chorrillana was absolutely delicious and the portion size was more than generous! Great value for money and the staff was lovely :). I wish I could go back!

The first night we had ordered a chicken burger and a beef burger to then be told they were out of chicken. About 10 minutes later they then told us that they also didn’t have the onion rings for the beef burger. We then came back the other night to also be told that another item was sold out despite us being one of the first tables of the night. Now onto the food, the beef burger was nice however you get very few chips and the chicken we had ordered on the second night had come out raw. We weren’t given any apologies and nothing was said after they took away our food so we had to ask if we could leave or if we had to pay for the drinks. Decided to go to the pizza place on the other nights which is much better and definitely worth the price

Tasteful yet eccentric architecture in a sublime location perched upon the slopes of a hill amongst local rustic houses with a view of the active port below. The rooms have distinctive circular windows and are decorated with design focused elements that make you want to linger and unwind. Honestly the only hotel I can remember where the artwork in the room was superb. The rooftop bar and breakfast deserve special mention too as the staff are so accomodating and friendly especially Victoria who looked after me. Make sure you witness a sunrise or sunset from there!

The private terrace and decor made us feel at home. They served us breakfast in the room as it was a bit chilly outside and it was so big and tasty that we didn't eat for hours afterwards. The location is on a hill above the city and a pleasant 20 minute walk but Ubers are also widely available. Very friendly service.
