The Sheffield Botanical Gardens, located in South Yorkshire, England, cover nearly 20 acres and are designated as an English Heritage Grade II site. The gardens boast Victorian pavilions, themed areas with plants from around the world, large lawns, woodland spaces, and vibrant floral displays. Visitors can explore well-maintained landscaped gardens featuring tropical plants and colorful blooms throughout the year. The venue also hosts events like Music in the Gardens to support various charities.
This park and botanical garden is an absolute gem in the city! It's such a cute spot, and absolutely lovely to walk around. I was amazed to see so many people running throughout the park, no matter if it was sunny or raining. It's clear this place is a beloved escape for many.
Eye N — Google review
Firstly, this is a free to enter venue. The botanical gardens are a beautiful piece of serenity within a large city. The gardens are stunning and laid out in a way that enables one to amble around relaxing. There are many varied areas with lots of different themes, all utterly gorgeous. We saw lots of squirrels that are so tame they can be hand fed. We also stopped at the café for a very welcome cup of tea. The gardens are definitely worth a visit.
Grant L — Google review
Great place to visit and free too. We were pleasantly surprised, its really is a hidden gem. The Glass House is full of interesting plants and the gardens are really well maintained. The squirrels were very friendly and entertaining.
D W — Google review
The botanical garden is beautiful in autumn, with trees in many shades creating lovely layers of colour. We went in the morning, and the squirrels were very active. Several even came close looking for food, which was really cute.
Issac — Google review
A great place to get away from it all. Some lovely walks around the gardens, loads of plants and trees (looks lovely). Most plants and trees have labels to help you identify them. There are plenty of seats in all parts of the gardens, some are in lovely quiet places. Spent ages just looking at the plants and listening to the wildlife. There is a cafe and toilets. When I visited the indoor part of the gardens were closed for maintenance. It is free to enter!
Paul “ — Google review
These gardens are absolutely beautiful. At certain times of the year, the vivid colours and patterns formed by trees, plants and shrubs are simply amazing. There are so many features in this garden, something for everyone. You can spend quite a lot of time here on a sunny day, enjoying the grounds, visiting the tropical greenhouse, the rock garden, and many more. There are toilet facilities on site. There is paid parking and also a few free spots if you can find one, or park further away and walk. Sheffield Botanical Gardens is a great place to visit, even as a day trip especially Spring time. And it’s free. Thank you Sheffield.
Legends L — Google review
Wonderful place! I had a great day today walking, not crowded, people having picnics.. just a lovely relaxing day surrounded by nature's colours
Andaluzia M — Google review
A wonderful place to relax with family and alone. It's a beautiful view of different corners. There are a large number of different varieties of magnolia here, about 30 species, so it is worth returning here at the end of May. There is also an alley with roses, both old and new varieties. There is a greenhouse with a great number of plants, especially cool cacti, aloe which was planted in 2003 and looks like a tree, there are also banana trees. Admission is free here, but you can make a donation online. Also on the territory there are many interesting tablets with the history of the garden, which will be especially relevant for children in the study of biology and nature in general. There's a café and a parking lot.

Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield is a captivating destination that delves into the city's industrial history. Located on a manmade island with over 900 years of heritage, the museum offers interactive galleries and skilled craftsmen showcasing Sheffield's manufacturing roots. From steel-making to the mass production boom during the Industrial Revolution, visitors can explore various aspects of industry, including exhibits on knife-sharpening and a working 12,000hp steam engine.
Great museum, well worth a visit to find out more about industry in Sheffield. At 2pm they run the steam engine that is well worth watching. Free entry and accepts donations, don’t forget to complete your gift aid if donating. Staff were very nice and very helpful. Toilets are clean, well stocked and tidy. Cafe is good for a coffee and cake, like other museum cafes a little expensive but well worth it. There is a kids activity sheet to complete and some hands on exhibits and a little dress up area too so kids will like it here. Not one negative to our experience. Suitable for all ages. Free parking or 10 to 15 minute walk to town.
Jacqueline S — Google review
A wonderful museum detailing the history of steel making and the making of tools and of the cutlery trade in Sheffield. Helpful friendly staff. You can wander at your leisure or have guided tour. No entry charge but donations welcomed. Small car parking further on past the museum entrance. The Museum is a ten minute walk from Shalesmoor blue tram stop.
John W — Google review
Nice visit to the museum with the kids, free entrance however donations recommended (cash or card) educational for the kids. They enjoyed looking and learning about the dofferent items on offer. Parking at the back, reasonable prices £1.50 for 2 hours.
Kim B — Google review
A must visit for technology and history buffs when in Sheffield. While the museum is free, donations are welcomed. I spent a good deal of time here just exploring and absorbing the steel industry. Who knew that aside from armoury and steel plating, sheffield was also famous for cutlery and other steel based utensils including pocket knives! Friendly staff just enhanced the whole experience. You also get to see the huge steam engine made for rolling steel and which they turn on allow to run on Thursdays to Sundays. Check the times as I missed seeing it run having visited on Wednesday. Still an amazing site to behold!! Love the visit and I highly recommend it.
Dharm N — Google review
This is fantastic if you are an engineer or interested in the history of steel making. Lots of great exhibits the best of which are the large steam engine which you can see running it made me tingle watching it. Also a Crossley engine that turns over showing how these things worked plus plenty more things check out their website. Suggested payment is £5 which is frankly very low for the display on show. You must go
Stephen M — Google review
Took my sister from Sweden, we loved the atmospheric museum. So many interesting facts and exhibits. Check days beforehand to see the steam engine in action,it's not working every day. Sorry we missed it. We enjoyed a great coffee in the cafe afterwards.
Diane T — Google review
We went to the Sheffield beer 🍺 festival and had a great time, as well as looking around the museum. Would recommend both. And even tried deep fried pizza.

The Millennium Gallery, located in Sheffield, England, is a modern museum that opened in 2001 as part of the city's Heart of the City project. Divided into four sections, it features the Special Exhibition Gallery showcasing touring exhibitions from renowned galleries like the Tate and Victoria and Albert Museum. The Craft and Design Gallery displays works by past and present craftsmen and designers, while the Metalwork Gallery highlights Sheffield's metal industries.
As a wedding photographer based in North Wales, the majority of my work is based around the countryside. When I was invited to shoot a wedding at The Millennium Gallery in Sheffield I was so excited. The ceremony was held in the gallery and it was an absolute gem for a wedding! Flooded with natural light it created the perfect conditions. The central location made it easy to explore the city right after the ceremony for some epic, cityscape shots with the couple. I’m now desperate for my next Sheffield wedding!
Dewi P — Google review
Always some interesting temporary exhibitions as well as long term collections. I have been to Feel Good Art Club here which is a lovely relaxed evening. Good spot to spend a bit of time with visiting friends or family.
Sarah F — Google review
Close to the Sheffield theatres and accessible from the Sheffield Winter Gardens, the Millenium Gallery is a small but very well curated space with some permanent and some temporary exhibitions all situated to one side of the Gallery. The space also includes a small shopping area with books, prints, jewellery and more for sale. The staff are lovely! Well worth a visit if you are in Sheffield for even a short period.
Anne S — Google review
Millennium Gallery is a small but well curated collection in central Sheffield. We accessed it through the Winter Garden. Entrance is by donation. The gallery is informative and well signed. While our visit wasn’t long (under an hour) it was well worth our time. There is also a lovely gift shop. Exhibits and gift shop both tell some of the history and culture of the city. It was a great stop before seeing a show, as it’s right next to the theatre.
Alyssa B — Google review
Gorgeous place. Love the botanical garden and the variety of exhibits on display. My personal favourite is the permanent Ruskin collection of natural history works. It’s also fab that they’ve recently introduced a place for local artists to sell their wares, as well as a pop up shop for small independent businesses.
Nicole R — Google review
We came to visit the Colour exhibition at the Millennium Galleries. We thought the curation was excellent - there was a great range of art, clothing, oddities and interactive exhibits. The blend of art, philosophy and science to explore colour was really engaging and there was something to appeal to people of all ages. The galleries overall sit in a lovely setting close to the enclosed winter gardens and were a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

It’s so worth visiting The Sykes Gallery Metalwork Collection for the incredible display of Sheffield metalwork. The skill set of Sheffield workers past and present on show is just magnificent. Also the short films made to show the process of metalworking are beautiful… Outstanding.
Peter B — Google review
Entered the Millennium Gallery through the Winter Garden. We managed to view three exhibitions before closing time. My favourite was the Sheffield metal works exhibition. It had a museum feel to it. I’ve attached a few pictures:

Winter Garden is a spacious and impressive urban glasshouse located in the heart of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It is renowned as Europe's largest temperate glasshouse and houses over 2,500 plant specimens from around the world. The glasshouse measures approximately 70 meters in length and 22 meters in height, offering visitors a unique covered walkway experience through central Sheffield.
I see something different every-time I go to these exotic gardens. Located close to the Sheffield theatres and a 10 minute walk from the station these gardens.are attached to the Millenium Galleries. It’s lovely just to explore or sit and watch the world go by. Try to include it in your itinerant if you are in the area.
Anne S — Google review
It's certainly beautiful, reminds me of something in London canary wharf. But very small, there are beautiful plants and places to sit
John — Google review
A beautiful tropical garden in the heart of Sheffield. The selection of tropical flowers and plants are housed under the incredible structure above. There is a cafe and a few other vendors inside and it’s well worth visiting.

The Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in Sheffield, England is a beautiful building that has seen a number of changes and additions over the years. The interior features impressive stained glass windows, as well as a grand lantern tower that was added in the mid-1960s. The cathedral is one of only three Grade listed structures in the city, and it is definitely worth visiting if you are ever in Sheffield!
An absolutely beautiful cathedral with so much history attached to it. Even if you disregard the history it was just so pretty with all the stained glass. The pastoral staff were extremely friendly and more than willing to offer information on the church.

Beautiful experience & well worth checking out whatever your faith (or none). Very helpful staff who help bring elements to life with their wisdom Lovely cafe with typical Sheffield delights too

A surprising interior with ancient and modern designs. Good cafe with toilets. Side chapel and Crypt worth visiting while there. Right by Supertram stop and short walk from Station via Pond St etc.

Historic cathedral in the heart of Sheffield. Welcoming staff and very informative signs make it a trip worth while. The naval flags were a particular highlight personally.

The place is pretty nice and well managed. When I came, it was pretty quiet, which is nice if you wanna have a prayer. Then, there was someone playing the pipe organ/piano, so beautiful, adding good impression of the experience. The gift shop has some cute stuffs :)

Located in a former steel mill, Magna Science Adventure Centre is a captivating science and technology museum that offers interactive exhibits and an outdoor play area. It pays homage to Sheffield's steel heritage with four pavilions dedicated to the elements of earth, water, air, and fire. The highlight is 'The Big Melt,' a bone-shaking show that vividly recreates the steelmaking process.
Could have been better if we hadn't hit it the same time as coachloads of primary school kids, but we still managed to see and interact with most of the exhibits. Definitely a great place for kids of that age, with an amazing play park just across the road as well
Ghislaine H — Google review
It was the 1st time we've been to Magna this weekend and we loved it. Lots to do and see, the big melt was amazing and got my 6 year old attention which is not easy to do. My sons favourite floor was the water floor and he was drenched when we came out of it. Luckily we had a towel to hand but it was good fun. We had a mix of a picnic and food from the cafe (the cafe food is expensive). The playground adventure had lots for all ages and my partner even went on the zip line too. The water park looks lovely but my boy said it was too cold to go in.
Laurie P — Google review
An absolutely epic place for kids and adults alike! So interactive and interesting it kept us all entertained for hours. I loved the set up representing the 4 elements earth, wind, fire and water plus I found the big melt interesting (a little jumpy for my 2 year old). The outside park was huge and if we lived closer we would be there all the time! They had standard play area equipment but standpits I couldn't get my 2 year old out of and a water park I couldn't get my 5 year old out of! 100% recommend and we will be going back!
Lucy A — Google review
Went to the Magna science centre today and it was great. The exhibition was interesting, interactive and quite inspiring. The place is massive but it felt full of interesting things to do and look at. I felt like I was on red dwarf at one point haha. My niece enjoyed it and got involved. The cafe is ok, there are plenty of toilets and there is also a good park outside. The bonus is that you pay once and get an annual pass free, fantastic!
Ruthanna — Google review
We got there very early, highly recommend getting there for opening time. It is quite dark so be aware, it can be quite noisy so if you have a sensor problem with sound take ear protection. There are plenty of interactive things to do, you will be very entertained, great for all age groups, we went with a toddler and he love all of it ( not the noisy parts of course) They have toilets on every floor and seats for you to rest on every floor and entrance. They have a cafe with plenty of seating they also have a specific packed lunch area too with is different and nice. The food prices where good not expensive at all. They have a large outside play area with a dry part and wet part. Be prepared for your kids to gey wet. Bout indoor and out. Best are is the year round ticket
Janine R — Google review
Absolutely fantastic day out! Can't wait to visit again. The park and splash pad outside is a day in itself. Our 18 month old loved running round and all the interactive things. Cafe was nice, staff friendly. Only thing I'd say to improve was the baby changing facilities were a bit rough and would be nice to have some stations dotted round to refil water bottles. Otherwise really recommend Magna!
Lauren N — Google review
Went today with a 10 year old. He started off looking bored, but after 4 hours had to drag him out! Very good value for money. The exhibitions were great, but often too dark to see the words on the exhibits. Cafe was ok, long queues at busy times and slow service. The “Big Melt” was a little disappointing to start with but got better, although a lot of small children were taken out screaming - it’s very loud. We then were invited to tour the factory floor - probably just those with older kids- I loved it, but it went on a bit too long, just looking at rusty old machines. Be aware, it’s very cold, it’s a cavernous steel shed with no heating, it’s often rather dark and uneven floors, and the Water exhibit is, quite wet ! Outside the adventure playground is huge and suitable for a wide age group, very clean and well maintained
Anne S — Google review
Wow, absolutely amazing day! If I'd read other reviews before buying tickets I may not have gone but what a mistake that would have been. Went with a 9 and 10 year old and they enjoyed every minute. So many interactive things for them to do and so much to see. We could have stayed much longer, will definitely make use of the annual pass! The outdoor play area and water area is brilliant and a day out in itself. How anyone says they got round the museum in an hour is beyond me. I couldn't get the kids out! Was definitely not cold anywhere although im sure thats different in winter months but I'd happily wrap up to go back.

Nestled in the heart of Sheffield, Weston Park Museum is a delightful Victorian treasure that invites visitors to embark on an exciting journey through time. Established in 1875, this cultural hub showcases an impressive array of exhibits that span archaeology, natural history, and social history. Families will find it a perfect destination for a day out with kids, as the museum offers interactive displays and engaging events designed to captivate young minds.
This amazing museum is located in a magnificent building in Weston Park close to the University and the Children’s Hospital. It is free to enter but donations are always welcome. It’s very well laid out with lots of information about all aspects of Sheffield life together with other traditional subjects such as the Egyptians. When I visited there were people there of all ages; the interactive displays were very popular with children so this museum would be an excellent resource for any families homeschooling their children. I loved the Pete McKee exhibition-each piece a true reflection of growing up in Sheffield. Sheffield has a rich and diverse history which is perfectly captured in the displays. There’s a gift shop and cafe plus toilet facilities including accessible and baby changing facilities. I didn’t go to the first floor but understood there is a picnic area. So much to see and learn, I couldn’t take it all in so look forward to a return visit.
Anne S — Google review
Weston Park Museum is a fantastic place to explore the rich history and culture of Sheffield. The museum is well-organized and offers a variety of exhibits that cater to all ages. From archaeological treasures to zoological wonders, there’s something for everyone to enjoy1. The highlights for me were the displays on Sheffield’s industrial past and the impressive art collection, featuring works by local artists like Pete McKee and Joe Scarborough2. The interactive exhibits are particularly engaging, making it a great spot for families with children. The museum is housed in a beautiful historic building, and the surrounding park is perfect for a leisurely stroll before or after your visit. The café offers a nice selection of refreshments, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is that some of the exhibits could use a bit of updating. However, this doesn’t detract from the overall experience. Weston Park Museum is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Sheffield!
Muhammad A — Google review
The museum isn’t very big, but it’s packed with interesting information about Sheffield. I really enjoyed the Pete McKee exhibition, it was a great experience. One of the highlights for me was the artwork about Castle Market. It brought back memories and captured the spirit of the place beautifully, showing how deeply connected McKee’s art is to local life and history.
Yeeha W — Google review
An amazing museum free of charge to enter. I always love to go in. There are different exhibitions in each room I really loved the Pete Mckee. The space invaders game took me right back to my childhood along with the pictures. There is a cafe inside or you can eat in the green outdoor park with a picnic. Toilets are inside and a gift shop. There is a donation box in the main entrance. If you can spare a few pennies/pounds it would be greatly appreciated. Lots to be explored
Kerry E — Google review
I visited here with my mum and daughter during the summer holidays. All three of us enjoyed looking at the exhibitions. We would recommend, and will return again.

“The Boy with a Leg called Brian” Exhibition by Pete McKee was absolutely fantastic. A must for anybody brought up in Sheffield, especially in the 70’s / 80’s. Highly recommended.

My wife and I came here for the first time yesterday and we were delighted. The museum is modern, spacious and packed full of interesting artefacts from ancient Egypt, natural history, local history and a great gallery. The Pete McKee exhibition is a nostalgic 1970s delight, being both funny and poignant. The café is reasonably priced and clean (and so are the toilets.) All in all, a great place to spend 2-3 hours inside and when you're done, have a stroll around the adjacent park. Definitely worth a visit.

The Crucible Theatre is a versatile 980-seat venue that hosts a variety of performing arts events, including the annual World Snooker Championship. Despite its popularity, some visitors have criticized the narrow seats and lack of legroom. Additionally, accessing the theatre and parking can be challenging. However, Sheffield Theatres organizes creative projects at the Crucible, such as the Connections Festival for young theatre-makers and Launchpad for adults with learning disabilities and/or Autism.
We visited for the first time to watch the World Championship Snooker. The venue is great, it's fairly small which means that every seat has a good view and it offers an intimate atmosphere. It was very clean, the seats were comfortable and the price of drinks was fairly reasonable for a theatre. Let's hope the Snooker championship stays at this lovely venue.
Lizzy B — Google review
This is the most friendly and most delightful snooker venue you can imagine. You are all so close to the action that it is electric. Just outside the venue you can watch the snooker sitting in a deck chair on a huge screen . There is a great pub also close by. Sheffield people make your visit special.

Another enjoyable visit for the Snooker. Excellent views from all seats and atmospheric. The perfect venue for this tournament. Good choice of food and drinks from the catering outlets. Staff helpful and friendly.

The Cathedral of Snooker. The Crucible is truly the legacy venue for the snooker championships. The seniors event is what I managed to get tickets for. Friendly staff and good facilities. Throughly enjoyed watching the afternoon session of the greats.

Excellent, theatre, showing the latest contemporary performances. Recently visited the theatre for a harmonic rendition of ‘Giddy Goat’. A mountain goat, who unlike her family does not like heights. Very good fun. Our children really enjoyed it.

Came here for the 2nd round of the snooker world championship. The staff were all so lovely, from security outside to those at the bar. The bar had lots of staff on too so we were always served very quickly! Inside the theatre, the seats were very comfy and we were shocked at how close you actually are to the snooker (I guess with it being a small venue). Had a really great time!

Superb experience at the crucible watching the world snooker championship. The venue is much more intimate than it appears on tv and this really adds something special to the experience.

The National Emergency Services Museum, located in a former fire station dating back to 1900, offers an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. With over 50 vehicles and thousands of artifacts on display across three floors, the museum provides a unique insight into the history and work of emergency services. From interactive exhibits showcasing uniforms and vehicles used throughout history to hands-on learning about the origins of emergency service terminology, this museum offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of emergency response.
I took my 2 year old and 3 month old here for a day out as my little boy loves fire engines and police cars and he absolutely loved it we spent over an hour and half here and could have spent longer, there is loads for children to do they can dress up, sit in a fire engine l, on a police motorcycle and even in a boat. The staff are very friendly and the gift shop is also reasonably priced to. It was easy for me to access the whole building even with the pram. We will definitely be going back again

Had a wonderful time at this very underrated museum. The staff were excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. The adult ticket also lets you have unlimited access for a full year. The place itself was well maintained and flowed well. Information was plentiful and gave a fascinating account of our local history. Our 2 year old loved the interactive elements, especially being able to climb on some of the vehicles. It was not busy at all and feel more people should be aware of this lovely little museum. We also ate food at the café which was reasonably priced and very nice. Overall, a wonderful place where you could spend many hours being immersed in history.

Absolutely loved it. The staff were so friendly and Charlotte was full of interesting information about the displays. Cafe was lovely and cakes looked amazing. They provided oat milk and there tea was amazing and much needed 🤭😍. Afternoon spending alot of time in the police section. Kids loved playing and dressing up 😍

Brilliant! I’ve wanted to visit for a while and today we brought my toddler, he absolutely loved it. It’s really well setup and isn’t overwhelming or underwhelming. I’m autistic so visiting places can be difficult but this place was perfect!

What an amazingly interesting museum, which is much larger on the inside than it looks when you first walk in. It covers all the emergency services, including police, fire, coast guard, mountain rescue and air ambulance. Varied displays and lots of vehicles. There’s even a small outdoor section. Very good use of the space available. Cafe for when you need a break. Great that the tickets last a year. I’d have loved to have slid down the fireman’s pole, but Health & Safety these days prevented that, even though I had done so elsewhere twice before. Well worth a visit.
Dawn L — Google review
Had a wonderful time with my son who is 1 and a half. He really enjoyed going in the various fire trucks and ambulances and pressing buttons and generally exploring. Really recommended if you have a child especially as you can revisit for the year after you buy your ticket (hopefully can still use the cafe or donate tho as it's a lovely place)
James S — Google review
Been past many times now had chance to go in (19.10.24).Highly recommended. Lots of vehicles, exhibits, historic rooms covering all of our respected emergency services. They even have a lifeboat out back but at the moment you can't go on it. Lift gives access to other floors if needed. Cafe and small shop attached, but didn't go in the cafe. Cost £9.50 on day of visit adult w/out concession, tickets valid for re-entry for 1 year - keep receipt and slip they give you (think you may need to sign off on gift aid for this). Didn't spend long enough in here .... minimum time I reckon you need 2 hours ideally 4 hours to give everything a good once over. Note - nearest real ale pubs are The Shakespeare and 2-6 micropub, both excellent and a few minutes walk in opposite directions (the pubs that is).

Holly Hagg Community Farm & Alpaca Treks is a not-for-profit organization that takes care of three acres of natural wildlife, including 10 alpacas and Jefe the llama. The farm offers organized Alpaca Treks where visitors can take an alpaca for a walk through the beautiful woodlands in the Rivelin Valley. The treks are guided by trained guides who ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
We had a fabulous Alpaca trek this morning, despite the mud. The volunteers explained how to interact with Alpacas, and described each of their personalities, before allowing us to choose our own Alpaca for walking. Health & safety was explained and we had a lovely, gentle trek through the local woodlands, with stops to feed the Alpacas and take photos. A lovely way to while away a couple of hours. Thanks to all of the volunteers for a lovely time.
Janice R — Google review
We visited the farm for a team building event (alpaca trek) with work and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. They really take great care of the alpacas. It was so much fun hearing about the different personalities of each alpaca and you could tell they were happy and well looked after. The whole team had a brilliant time and it was the perfect mix of relaxing, fun, and engaging. Highly recommend!
Jenny S — Google review
Attended the alpaca trek today with a friend as a birthday gift. Excellent expierence!! The staff were so friendly and informative, the trek itself was beautiful and ofcourse the alpacas and Llama (amongst all the other animals) were amazing! Will definitely be attending again!

A must-visit for anyone looking for a unique, enriching experience. Whether you’re planning a team-building day, a family outing, or simply a peaceful retreat, this farm offers something for everyone. The combination of breathtaking views, heartwarming animal encounters, and the opportunity to learn from a dedicated team makes it a truly unforgettable experience. If you’re looking to reconnect with nature or strengthen your bond with others, I couldn’t recommend Holly Hagg enough. The passion, knowledge, and love for the land is inspiring. Thank you for an incredible day!
SLC — Google review
Had the best time trekking with the Alpacas on a beautiful Sunday morning. The volunteers were really knowledgeable and made you feel at ease around the animals. The trek itself takes about an hour and is at a very leisurely pace, but over some steep, rocky and muddy terrain. The Alpacas are really quite placid and clearly enjoy their walk. The dodgy terrain is a breeze for them, and they love the food provided by the farm. My Alpaca was called Forest, and he behaved really well all the way around. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone who has a love of animals, just make sure you have suitable footwear for the occasion. Fantastic experience.

Our alpaca walk was an absolute delight! The whole experience was wonderfully tranquil, offering a serene break from the everyday. We loved getting to walk the alpacas on leads – they're such very friendly creatures, making it a truly interactive experience. A huge shoutout to the volunteer staff; they were truly exceptional, super patient and friendly, and happy to share fascinating insights about each alpaca. This walk is perfect for kids of all ages, making it a fantastic family outing!

Such a beautiful park to walk, watch the samll rivers inside of it, and ducks. There's a nice coffee shop there as well, so you can have a nice coffee, breakfast or some lunch.

Great place, can be busy in the playground area but a lot more secluded and calm in the woodland part of it. They have a really great river and even have a lake to feed the ducks. In my opinion one of the best parks in sheff. They are even equipped with a nice cafe.

Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, managed by Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust, provides free entry to a historical industrial site showcasing the lives of 18th-century workers. The hamlet was once a major producer of agricultural tools and the largest water-powered industrial site on the River Sheaf. Visitors can explore Grade I and II-listed buildings such as the Managers House, Workers Cottages, and Counting House. Additionally, they can witness four water wheels in action every Wednesday.
I was so pleased to be able to visit this lovely museum on the outskirts of Sheffield. It had been closed over the Winter and it isn’t open everyday, so good weather, a train ride to Totley and I was able to visit. It’s free, but you are encouraged to donate if you can and if you are a UK tax payer please fill in the Gift Aid. The volunteers are lovely, welcoming and very knowledgeable. There’s a good amount of information in different formats which help when visiting the various buildings. These are old buildings so do expect steep and uneven stairs/steps both inside and outside, uneven flooring and uneven and cobbles outside. I didn’t use the cafe but it looked very popular; the loos are just through the arch on the way to the cafe. There is a very small carpark or you can arrive by train to Dore with a short walk or it is on a main bus route on Abbeydale Road.
Anne S — Google review
If you love wandering round historical buildings, this is definitely of interest to you. A little 'hamlet' of buildings full of amazing 'scythe ' making history. An introduction video, worksheets for children, small exhibition area and then the hamlet, waterwheel, traction engine and reservoir to see. This is a free entry museum, with a suggested donation of £5 - worth every penny. A cafe/restaurant (independent) on site. Parking (no height barrier) and toilets. Really really friendly and informative guides here. Couldn't be more enthusiastic. Also a great guy making sword blades, again, really informative and friendly. Most certainly bringing my 13 yr old grandson here, he'll love it.

Been wanting to go here for ages. Very interesting detail to what went on here and those who worked here. Some buildings done to how they were and where they worked. Very interesting how it's explained how much they got paid and what coins they used makes you feel very lucky. Trust me well worth a visit with the kids or on your own. Nice cafe too just remember to leave them a donation please as there's no charge to Go around.

Took my nearly two year old niece here with my brother and sister, we all really enjoyed it! Really interesting way to learn about the industrial heritage of the city. There is even a little room of interactive things for children - dressing up clothes, colouring sheets and lots of play tools.
Sam B — Google review
This is a real gem on the outskirts of Sheffield in the beautiful suburb of Millhouses. It gives a fascinating insight into what made Sheffield the city of steel. When you have finished the historic bit the cafe is a real oasis ...I only had coffee but the food I saw on other tables looked delicious. Well worth a visit.
John D — Google review
The site looked like the most interesting one in Sheffield so I was very exciting to come here and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a delightful and educating morning with wonderful weather and absolutely amazing staff / volunteers. I came here with absolutely zero knowledge about steel and the process of creating tools and I leave with what I think a reasonably realistic. View of the working conditions.
Kerstin H — Google review
Surpassed my expectations, a real eye opener. Learnt so much. Need another visit. The staff were so friendly and helpful, this clearly a passion. You can really immerse yourself in the history of this hard and vital industry. No detail is omitted. Though it fell into decline at the turn of the last century it was revived for heritage sake and indeed played meaningful role in the war effort due to the exceptional quality of the metal it produced, not a great quantity (2.5 tons PW) but it was the quality that was important. When you see what the processes were, I think they were working flat out.
Vince — Google review
Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet is probably unique in that it was an early factory in the Industrial Revolution, but continued to work until it was rescued from demolition by Sheffield Council preserving it as a Living Museum. People can visit and experience something of what happened there over many years. The experience is authentic in that it hasn't been modernised, but it is safe for young and old alike to visit and have an historical experience of Sheffield's Industrial past.

Quite pricey food and drinks as expected, same as tickets but great lineup. Wasn’t to busy to enter at any time 14 or 4pm but to leave better to walk back as hard to get transport. Can wait for the tram or bus back or walk a bit for a different bus, might take still about 50 minutes to get back into town.

We spent a lot of money on VIP tickets. Had my perfume taken off of me at the gate from my tiny handbag, yet people were walking in with big rucksacks etc... The VIP bar was 50p per pint more expensive than the normal bar & the queues weren't any shorter. The toilets were nicer in the VIP area. Booked to see Paulo Nutini & left early & disappointed as his two biggest hits which are usually fun & upbeat he performed as ballads. Not sure if it was worth the price.

Ab "Tramlines festival was absolutely brilliant this year! Getting in was a breeze, with well-organized entry points that made the start of the day completely stress-free. The food choices were fantastic and incredibly diverse, offering everything from amazing street food to classic festival fare, so there was always something new and delicious to try. It was also surprisingly easy to grab a beer, with plenty of bars and short queues, meaning you didn't have to miss a moment of the music. The lineup was the true star of the show, featuring a brilliant mix of both new, emerging talent and legendary bands that brought the house down. It was a perfect blend of nostalgia and discovery, making for an unforgettable weekend."

Such a great festival. Something local residents should be proud of, yet so many seem to complain that 1 weekend of their year is mildly interrupted.
Alison G — Google review
Absolutely disgusting paid for vip tickets to be grabbed by the throat for trying to access the vip toilets at 10 o’clock when it should have been open. Closes early due to security on site and 10’s of people pushing against barriers to access VIP area expecting it to be open. Do not buy VIP TICKETS THEY DO NOT STAY OPEN ANY LONGER .

A hugely disruptive event which last year took the entire park away from the local community for the entire summer. Even when it doesn't write off the park for months, access is restricted when the event is being set up, and while the event is on, local residents lives are hugely disrupted.

Rother Valley Country Park is a sprawling 750-acre expanse in South Yorkshire, serving as the gateway to the Peak District. It offers a variety of outdoor activities such as walking and cycling trails, water sports at its large lake, and mountain bike hire including options for families with young children. The park also features a nature reserve, a cafe, and an arts and crafts center.
We ended up here by chance so it was our first visit, it has a range of activities for you to take part in and the staff are very knowledgeable and happy to talk. We just walked around this time but it was a lovely walk which you can decide the distance you are going to do. Our only criticism would be how the cafe service area is set out and is confusing who's queuing or waiting for their order, I think it would be very hectic on their busier days.
Andy F — Google review
Walked around Rother Valley many times over the years but 1st time for my 17 year old daughter and we really enjoyed it. Beautiful scenery and lakes to walk round, lots of activities going off when we went but not in your face, ample parking, some interesting shops, nice vibe.

Rother Valley Country Park is a great place to enjoy the outdoors, with plenty of things to do for all ages. You can walk around the lakes, cycle along the flat paths, or try something more active like paddleboarding, sailing, or using the aqua park. The trails are easy to follow and suit both casual visitors and keen cyclists, while families can enjoy the large play area near the Northern Lake. The park feels calm and open, making it a lovely spot for picnics, walks, or just relaxing by the water and watching the activities around the lakes. The park has good facilities that make your visit more comfortable. The Stables Café, set in an old 18th-century building, is a nice place to stop for drinks or snacks with lovely views of the lake. There is plenty of parking, with both paid and free options nearby, and clean toilets close to the main area. Everything is well looked after, and the park has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you come for adventure or a quiet day in nature, Rother Valley Country Park is a lovely place to spend time outdoors.

Beautiful place to have a picnic with friends and family. You can hire bike for £9 per hour, best to take yours if you can. Loads of space to park but the payment was confusing, I paid for the hours I stayed at the pay machine but the barrier wouldn't open until I paid another £1, don't know why. The tech should be working better. The water sport center has lots of activities. If you are into water stuff and swimming, pack a swimsuit. It was my first time and I will return with better preparation now that I know you can do your barbecue fresh on site. It was generally a lovely place to hang out and loved the vibe of everyone doing their stuff. Didn't interact with any staff so can't comment about them.

Very lovely place to visit and just wander. Cafe serves hot & cold drinks and food. Very dog friendly. We only went to have a wander, however there is an activity centre, watersports area, cycles allowed, runners use the pathways. Lovely day out.

The country park is beautiful. Sadly the cafe is unbelievably banal and lacking in healthy & tasty food, plus closes early whilst the park is still active which is a massive missed opportunity, but maybe one day we can have both! All the nature on and around the water is really wonderful.

Visitors can wander along the paths that wind through the trees and flower beds on the steep bank where Weston Park is situated. Adjacent to the park stands the impressive Weston Park Museum, offering an enriching experience for both adults and children.
Lovely, well maintained park near to university. Nice duck pond, tennis court, bandstand, museum inside park and don’t forget talk about ice cream van. Its place is great for picnics, walk around or stopping by the Weston Park Museum which is another great place to visit. This park has nice big green space defo its good for summer but for autumn as well.

Weston Park is a really lovely park and one of three located next to each other (Crooks Valley Parks). It is very well maintained and peaceful to walk around and you can always make a bit more of a day of it by visiting Western Park Museum at the same time. The paths are smooth but winding and undulating around the park, with various monuments, memorials and points of interest to have a look at. I visited in early spring and it was lovely, but I do plan on going back when the summer arrives, as I imagine the planting will really brighten up the area further into the year. It's amazing and testament to Sheffield's tag line of 'The Outdoor City' that such a green space can be so close to the hustle and bustle of a City centre.

NB if you have never visited Sheffield you need to be aware that you will mostly be walking uphill, so wear sensible shoes and, if in doubt, use public transport!😹 The park itself is relatively small with lots of grassed areas, a duckpond with a couple of bridges, plenty of benches and a coffee cart. Around the park you will also see a number of war memorials. There’s also an icecream van just beyond the gates. It’s also the home of Weston Park Museum which itself is well worth a visit. The park is very popular with visitors of all ages and a good site for runners.

The museum here was very well laid out and lots of fun for all ages from 5 up to late 60's. Exhibits were well labelled and there was lots of space to.move or stand. We loved the art exhibition too. Cafe provided good and reasonable food - chip portions were large and lovely ( but pre-salted)

Nestled in the vibrant Kelham Island area of Sheffield, Church - Temple of Fun is a unique warehouse-style eatery that combines a lively atmosphere with an impressive 100% vegan menu. This innovative venue, brought to life by Bring Me The Horizon's frontman Oliver Sykes, features a stunning terrace overlooking the river and is adorned with South American religious motifs. Guests can indulge in mouth-watering burgers and creative street food while sipping on expertly crafted cocktails or enjoying a selection of craft ales.
An absolutely phenomenal meal. The food was delightful. As a vegetarian, I was in my element but the meat eaters who were also with us enjoyed every bite of their meal! The staff were incredible and so attentive. Such a wonderful evening out.

Second time I've been here. Service was fine. Food was alright. I had the satay salad which was nice. Sides of chips, tofu bites and oyster mushroom. All alright. Everything was alright but not outstanding. The ginger cheesecake wasn't nice, not very dense at all, didn't taste like ginger at all.

Did you know you can hold your wedding at Temple of Fun in Sheffield? This space is honestly one of the most unique venues I’ve had the joy of photographing. With its industrial architecture, bold decor, and quirky vibe, it offers couples something truly different from the traditional wedding venue. The atmosphere is relaxed yet full of character, making it perfect for alternative celebrations that really reflect your personality. From a photography perspective, Temple of Fun is an absolute dream. The textures, lighting, and urban backdrop create a bold canvas for storytelling, and the space works beautifully for everything from intimate portraits to full-on party vibes. The team here are also fantastic, welcoming, organised, and genuinely passionate about creating unforgettable events. Venues like this give couples the freedom to celebrate their day authentically, and I can’t wait to be back. If you’d like to see how a wedding could look here through my lens, I’ve shared some highlights below.

Absolutely amazing! So much to choose from and every single dish is 100% vegan. The food was full of flavour, really satisfying, and hit the spot perfectly. I can’t wait to come back here next time I’m in Sheffield - such a fantastic find!

Great pub in Old Church. Very professional service and friendly staff. Great selection of beers and hard alcohol. I love the Halloween decorations and the music in the background. There are boxes with the games. Highly recommended 👌

Birthday vibes at Church – Temple of Fun 🎉💜 Had my birthday meal here and honestly, it was amazing. The staff were so friendly, and they even wrote “Happy Birthday” on a slab on the table – little touches like that mean a lot. The vibe was chill but quirky – lights, colours, and cool stuff on the walls (neurodivergent-friendly big time!). There’s a photo booth, pool table, PlayStation area upstairs, and I’ve heard they do live music too, though I only came for food this time. All the food is vegan – and trust me, even the meat-eaters in my family were shocked how good it was. They were reading the menu like it was in another language 😂 but ended up loving every bit. They actually wanted more! I had a lush mocktail and even grabbed a tee from the merch stand. My mum has really bad dietary needs (gluten-free, soy-free, vegan) and the staff went out of their way to sort her something proper. That meant the world – not everywhere does that. Whole night was just spot on. Food, vibes, staff, all of it. If you’ve got ADHD or autism or you’re just a bit quirky like me, this place makes you feel right at home. My only concern was the toilets — my mum has lung disease and the only ones we were shown were up a very steep staircase. I didn’t see any downstairs or get offered an accessible option. If you use a wheelchair or have mobility issues, I’d recommend calling ahead to check if they have accessible toilets. Not all disabilities are visible, so it’s just something to be aware of. If you don’t need that, it won’t be an issue — but I always include things like this for others with diverse needs. Thanks church for helping make my 40th a good one ! ☝️ 🫶🏽

Served by Lucy A who was absolutely amazing, did not stop for a single second during our visit, very prompt, friendly and polite. Her service was 10/10 and that alone was amazing. The food was reasonably priced for the portion sizes and delicious. The vibe was chilled and I would definitely recommend.

OMG, I'm still star struck! I can't believe this happened! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with such unique decor. Gorgeous attention to detail The food is fantastic too, definitely more of a "dirty vegan" experience than a healthy one, which I love. Who doesn't adore a juicy burger? So good! I absolutely loved the satay "chicken" loaded fries, so highly recommend those. The cocktails are also stunning and so well made. I loved the espresso martini. It's made with Guinness, but don't let that put you off! There are lovely views over the river from the restaurant, and it was great to see all the wildflowers. Sadly, there was no sign of the visiting otters. As if that wasn't enough, I was so delighted and shocked to see the owner, Oli Sykes, in there with his family! As much as it killed me, *seriously* killed me, I didn't want to bother him for a selfie as he was enjoying personal time with his family. It just goes to show how good the food must be if he eats there himself! I went on a Sunday and noticed the menu is a bit more limited, which sadly loses them a star for food, but there were still lots of burger and loaded fries options for anyone not wanting the more traditional vegan Sunday roast. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, which just makes the whole experience even better! I also loved how dog friendly it is. I just loved seeing so many gorgeous pooches being made to feel at home here! Absolutely recommend it!

With over 190 stalls, it offers a wide range of products including organic meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan food, craft beer, clothes, craft materials and jewelry. The market is open every day except Sundays and features diverse eateries offering Russian and Jamaican inspired food.

Everything is locally sourced, giving it a genuine community feel. It’s a great spot to explore and experience the local culture. Worth a visit at least once, especially if you’re new to the area or passing through!

It's a very big market, but of what you really need is fresh fish and meat sold here and fruit. There are products from different countries such as India or Ukraine. There are clothes and souvenirs, but it's so-so

Overall a good spot. The variety of stalls are good and the prices are great. They have a good nail place and a really lovely fruit and veg stall. The bathrooms aren’t the nicest but you get what you pay for and they’re free so.. It also has a variety of means and other produce which means it’s a bit smelly but nothing pinching your nose can’t fix

A great place for fresh fruits and food. There are plenty of stores offering a wide variety of international options, including Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, English cuisine, and more.

I normally avoid markets, but the Moor Market is excellent. Harking back to bustling, interesting markets full of great produce and nic nacs, this market fits the bill. It was also great to see people queuing up at butcher stalls etc. a testament to the quality of the produce.

We came to Sheffield for a day out and found this market, as food lovers and keen cooks it was like a dream come true. It has so much to offer and the prices were very reasonable for fresh produce. We stopped for lunch in the very wide raining food court for lunch and weren't disappointed. I had a chicken shawarma and my partner had a lamb curry from fireworks of flavour, the price and portions were excellent and the quality very high.

Great to see a city market thriving. Fish mongers, butchers, fruit veg, street food cafe area.
Elaine P — Google review
A simple market with fresh meat, fruit and vegetables but limited food options. Perhaps I was expecting something like the Camden market or Borough market in London. Some of the butchers sell meat pies and there are a few food stalls as well as some stalls selling coffee and bear too. Nothing special really in the Moor Market for me.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my nephew's 3rd birthday today! The party host, Eve, was absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. The food at the birthday party was tasteless and full of fat, also overcooked. The only tasty thing for the kids was the ice cream. The price per child was ~19 pounds. A very high price, not worth it.

Absolutely brilliant experience at Air Haus for my daughter's 6th birthday party! From start to finish, everything was well-organised and stress-free. A huge shoutout to our host Ruby—she was fantastic! So friendly, helpful and full of energy. She made sure everything ran smoothly and honestly couldn't do enough for us and the kids. The venue itself was clean, fun, and perfect for a children’s party. All the kids had a blast and the parents were impressed too. Would highly recommend Air Haus, especially with Ruby as your host. Thank you for a great day!

Used to be awesome, sadly the equipment is really tired now. Lots of worn out panels means the air pressure is rubbish, plus the interactive features (wipeout arm, race buttons etc) have been removed. Also quite a few bulges where the stitching has gone. Having said that, still gets 3 stars as the toddler sessions are good value and the kids have a great time.

Sheffield Theatres is a vibrant and bustling complex, home to the Lyceum Theatre, the Crucible Theatre, and the Studio Theatre. Situated in central Sheffield's Tudor Square, it is the largest theatre complex outside of London. The venues offer an array of in-house and touring productions including classic drama, musicals, dance, and comedy throughout the year.
Went to see bull in the playhouse, luckily got a disabled parking space right outside, although for others the parking was a bit of a walk away from all the theatres. There was a cloak room, along with a restaurant and decently stocked bar, of all the usual theatre fare. My only suggestion is in the playhouse specifically picking the standard seating. From what I saw, all the tier pricing was the same, but the bottom floor seating was superior. Unless you prefer less intimate seating, and want to be more away, the standard seating is best. It is unreserved but there was no problem finding a seat and we were seated right at the front.
Katie D — Google review
Pig heart boy excellent show, humorous, dramatic play. So much energy from the cast and a great set using the space to create an amazing world. Unfortunately at the end the stewards better suited to United or Wednesday football. Five minutes after the show had ended and waiting for the crowd to disperse, considering mobility issues the stewards appeared . They could clearly see us taking photos of the set and having enjoyed the spectacular show they were ordering us out. There was no have you enjoyed the show, you are very keen and can we take a photo of you. It was jobs worths with zero awareness of people really enjoying the theatre. Been to Nottingham theatres and the staff were chatting did you enjoy the show, their manners were impeccable. These two female stewards clearly need.training in working in a theatre environment. In fairness the security manager did acknowledge our situation. I will not criticise him but the two female staff clearly have zero interest in the theatre or theatre enthusiasts. All they had to do was say we will give you two minutes to finish off taking photos and say glad you enjoyed the show. Also we look forward to seeing you in the future. In these days you want to see people enjoy live shows . So Sheffield Theatres get stewards doing a job but with sensitivity towards the public.

Phil G — Google review
I recently came to this venue and was stunned by the response I received from a woman on reception. I was unfamiliar with the area so wasn't aware about the complex. I was looking for the Crucible but wasn't sure which building it was. I approached a building from the right hand side, above it said 'Sheffield Theatres', so I thought I would go in and ask. I asked the woman, 'Is the Crucible in here?' and she replied derisively, 'Well that's what it says above the door.' Wow! Imagine if I had been a partially sighted person! Indeed I am sighted and I still didn't see it, since I entered from the side and not head on. Was it too much to just say, 'Yes, you're in the right place.' What a way to be received. Unbelievably rude.

Theatres are great, lots of good stuff to see. DO NOT however take out the secure my booking insurance. This is not part of Sheffield theatres but is a third party organisation who will wriggle out of refunding you. I bought their insurance, then well after purchase was unable to attend because of a work trip abroad which was not known about at the time of booking. Apparently not covered though so what’s the point? Total waste, crazy strict conditions, avoid!!

Very well organised and manned. Very safe. Great fun. Nice bar. Great wrap options for lunch. Great outside seating area with music. Only 1 tweak very much needed which would bring it down to 4.7 out of 5 SERIOUSLY NEED SORT CHANGING, SHOWER and toilet facilities- clean but for a 1/4 of the traffic that come through.

We came as a big group lady on the counter was brilliant really helpfull had loads of names to check through for the waivers. Kids enjoyed it this is our 3rd time here as a big group. Its loads better this time around boards inbetween inflatables so bit easier to get round. Only thing that lets it down a bit is the changing rooms and toilets. Alot of people were having to get changed outside trying to cover up with towels. It is a very busy place which i get and maybe in peak times needs more staff on the cafe. We were queuing 25 minutes and there was no rush in them to serve people. We did do a big food and drink order which i had spoken to a few hours before we put it in so they had a little heads up. When i say big i mean 25 pizzas and chips.....by the way thd pizzas are so nice. This was really quick to be honest they did really well sorting this but the one thing that i thought was very rude. There was a lady an oldish lady i said is there any chance we can get some paper plates she looked at me and said how many i went 50 she said oh no ide have to charge you for them i went but weve just put a massive order in. She was like right you can have them but i thought the way she had spoken to me was very rude and come on what a few plates when weve put loads of money in the till. Other than the lady at the cafe the place is great kids will love it the staff on the front are great. We will always go back
Hayley R — Google review
We had such a great day here! tons of exciting slides as well as a fun obstacle course. What really made it special was the paddle boarding! Right next to the water park where you can rent paddle boards. It was the perfect way to wind down after all the water park excitement. The water was calm, the scenery was peaceful, and it was such a fun activity for both beginners and more experienced paddlers. Only “downside” is if you don’t have a car it’s a 40 minute walk from the nearest bus stop but if you enjoy walking it should be no problem! It’s rare to find a place that combines both high-energy water park fun with something more relaxing like paddle boarding — we loved both and would definitely come back. Highly recommended for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a full day of water activities!

Have been today (15/8) very busy as expected with nice weather and summer holidays. Very organised, only possible suggestion is too many people for each time slot, as soon as everyone was in the water you had probably 50 people all trying to climber onto the closest inflatable. We had to come out early due to injury but lifeguards we're superb, on every bit of equipment and all around the area on paddleboard. Would definitely recommend

Embark on a thrilling adventure with Treasure Hunt Sheffield, an exciting challenge that takes you through the city's well-known landmarks and hidden treasures. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this self-guided tour offers an engaging way to explore Sheffield while solving clues and learning about its history. Take your time, enjoy the journey, and even dress up like pirates for added fun! With just your phone in hand, follow the trail using a user-friendly interface similar to Whatsapp.
We learnt so much about Sheffield in a couple of hours. Fun and challenging but not daunting. Great lunch at Joni’s on Kelham Island. Mild peril around Estella Way (?) where we were grateful for a hint. Brilliant! Thank you.

I've lived in Sheffield for 5 years so when my parents were coming to surprise visit I wasn't sure what to do until I found this. I bought the ticket online and within 5 mins we were ready to go! Just charge up your phone and use the Whatsapp like interface to complete the hunt. The treasure hunt was great, it started off around the city centre, helping me to find interesting things that I had never noticed and then a short snippet of history behind them. It led us all the way down the Kelham Island and then back into the centre again. Easy acess for all ages, fun and informative too.
Dan ( — Google review
We had an afternoon to fill in Sheffield and this did the job perfectly - much more fun than wandering around aimlessly and we saw so many little details that we wouldn't have noticed otherwise (family of 2 adults and 1 teen). Really well put together and regular clues kept it interesting.
Alison M — Google review
A fantastic way to spend a few (3 without big drinking stops) hours to explore the city learning about its history and spotting signs, pictures and more that you wouldn’t normally pay attention to. The ‘Whatsapp’ style interface was a cool way to share the clues, maps, pictures and information. The technology all worked really well and was perfectly timed. The clues were up to date, even if building work tried to obscure a few views. Get your comfortable walking shoes on and explore Sheffield using this treasure trail. No clues revealed in any of the photos just a few pieces of art that you will see along the way. There is so much to see.

Brilliantly crafted and so much fun! Second city we’ve explored in this fabulous way. Despite two of our team living and working in Sheffield for over 30 years, there was sill so much they learned. Weather didn’t dampen our spirits but can imagine on a dry day it would be even better!

Had a fantastic day in Sheffield exploring and puzzling. New to the city, so had zero knowledge when we started, now I know where mushy peas were made and other trivia. Importantly the whole day was dog friendly. We couldn't walk through winter gardens but we didn't actually need to to complete the challenge.

A great way to discover Sheffield and open our eyes to the history in the buildings around. We needed a bit of help from someone sat on a bench in Tudor Square to get started and then from a retired vicar in the Cathedral, but both provided very interesting information about the city - the vicar gave us a guided tour of the whole Cathedral - so the game was a great way to meet people too.

It is the largest privately owned house in Europe and boasts a unique blend of baroque and Palladian architecture. The estate covers 87 acres of magnificent gardens, making it a popular attraction for visitors. Additionally, the area offers various other attractions such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Stainborough Park, and Cannon Hall Museum.
Good venue for a full day out. Big garden and grounds to explore with families and young children. There are picnic areas outside as well as cafés inside the main building. There are two floors to explore with stately rooms, however, there are bare of furniture with various modern expositions instead. Various watchful and stern staff can be found inside the building throughout, checking for wristbands and that no one does anything untoward like touching paintings. Overall a good day out.

Wow what a stunning venue and grounds with spectacular views. We visited during the new steampunk event and I was blown away by the scale of the building. The accessible areas are beautiful and the history on show is super interesting. I can’t wait to go back as more and more is renovated and opened to the public. They offer tours and behind the scenes events you can prebook and have an onsite cafe with good menu choices available. The staff are friendly, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the building and grounds. There’s a fantastic creative area in the gardens for children and rooms set up in the house for them also. A great day out.

This was once an astonishing house and grounds, and still is although it had a tough 20th century. There is now a trust beginning it back into use, and doing an excellent job by the look of it. Most of the original gardens have been lost, but there are a few areas of interest (kids area is particularly good) and lots of space for generally rambling. I had a nice lunch at the Butler's pantry although wish I'd waited and had something up range at the Camellia House. Look out for the deer on your way up to the house.

Spectacular on the outside however nothing really to see inside except some walls. Only a few rooms are open for visits and there is literally nothing in them, all furniture has been removed. Was expecting to see how people lived back then but all the rooms are empty. I went at the begging in of November and was not impressed by gardens either as they looked like everything was left behind in them. May be better in summer or when they hold events but on a regular day is not worth the money at all.

A Blooming Good Time at the RHS Flower Show, Despite the Rain! What a truly fantastic day at the RHS Flower Show! This year's event was a spectacular affair, boasting an impressive array of stands and exhibits that showcased the very best of horticulture. From stunning floral displays to innovative garden designs, there was inspiration around every corner. Beyond the visual delights, the fantastic food selection truly stood out. There was a diverse range of delicious options to choose from, catering to every palate and making for a delightful culinary experience. The only minor setback was the weather. While the intermittent rain didn't completely dampen spirits, it would have been much more comfortable if there had been more tables under cover. This would have allowed visitors to enjoy their refreshments without battling the elements. Nevertheless, it was a memorable and highly enjoyable day out!

It's a masterclass of high victorian architecture. Even if live theatre isn't for you (and I pity you if that's the case) put yourself out and book to see anything. The building itself is the real star of the show.

Kinky Boots - great. Even sitting up high we could see and hear OK. But there are a LOT of stairs. Very pretty theatre.

A lovely theatre with a lot of charm. We were here July 2015 to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The theatre was clean and well cared for and staff incredibly kind. The seating was very tight and narrow, and I suspect could be limiting for some people. Our knees were crammed in front of us and the armrests dug into my hips. The show was fun - though it wasn’t my favourite arrangement of Joseph I’ve seen (having so many children play adult roles opposed to being the choir didn’t make for a more impressive production). But Joseph and the narrator were both excellent.

We went to see Tina Turner: The Musical, and we've got tickets in the stalls. The view was superb, and the show was one of the best I've ever seen; it was worth every penny.

Lovely Theatre. Very helpful staff, I had trouble with my ticket not scanning, but we persevered and we got through. Staff on every level and entrance to theatre to guide you round. There are bars and ice cream on all floors, all of which get very busy. There is a disabled lift which goes most of the way up, but some steps are needed to go up to most seats. Not bad leg room in the grand circle but the God's is a bit of a squeeze. Been a few time for various productions. Never seen a bad one. Well worth a visit.

We went to see Tina Turner the musical last night at the Lyceum. It was absolutely fantastic. Cannot give enough stars for the cast and energy of this performance would definitely see it again another year. The story telling of her life is raw and the songs are powerful. The biggest accolade I can give is we saw Tina live in the 80,s and these Tina,s have got it down to a big “T”. We go to the Lyceum on a regular basis and it never ceases to give you that sense of awe for it beautiful old cornices and gold accessories and paintings it’s a pleasure and it all adds to the atmosphere of the night.

Eyam Hall is a captivating 17th-century manor house steeped in history, built shortly after the devastating Black Death in 1672. This stunning Jacobean-style residence has been cherished by the Wright family for over nine generations and serves as both a family home and an enchanting wedding venue. Visitors can explore its rich heritage through guided tours available during select dates in April and October.
The Hall itself is open to the public on selected days and membership of Historic Houses gets you free entry. It's a delightful place, full of fascinating stories, which you can read by scanning a QR code on your smartphone. We travelled a long way to visit, wondering if it would be worth the journey... well it definitely was! Would 100% recommend.

Great stately home but only open on selected dates through the year. Volunteers were excellent, there is an audio guide or you can read along on your phone. Beautifully looked after a d a fascinating history . There is also a courtyard with craft shop, book shop and cafe. There is a car park opposite the hall and don't forget to look at the plague houses and church to see the villages history

History of Eyam through the years. Very interesting. Just outside are the cottages where people died from the plague which was brought there by a linen merchant very interesting read at each cottage.

Really liked this lovely family home (have seen it under the management of the National Trust I think it's under the management of the family now but still open for visits). Very interesting to hear about the history of the family. The guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. I really liked the rocking horse and the pictures of the family tree. The garden is very nice here (great bug hotel). Really nice cheese shop here. Would recommend a visit.

An interesting old house with lots of history in the middle of the Eyam plague village. Plenty of information around the house telling of its past and former family owners. There are friendly tour guides in different rooms describing life in the house. The gardens are nice to walk through with benches to sit and enjoy the view.

Renishaw Hall & Gardens is a historic estate located near the Peak District National Park. The expansive grounds feature formal Italianate gardens, woodland walks, and a serene lake, making it an ideal place for a leisurely stroll with your furry friend. Visitors can also explore the museum and enjoy refreshments at the on-site cafe. During Christmas, the estate offers guided tours of the festively decorated house and serves traditional holiday meals in the cafe.
Such a lovely place! We have been 6 or 7 times since getting our Membership in March, and its a joy to see which flowers are out at each visit! We even got my son and his girlfriend a Mambership pass, as we were so impressed! And the best bit is its never overcrowded; it feels like our own personal space.

Absolutely fabulous day out at the plants sale and gardens. By far some of the best gardens I've ever visited. Great facilities, clean, outstanding customer service. Could not have been any better.

Very nice visit despite a little drizzle. Woodlands, a lake walk, more formal gardens. Very pretty and quiet apart from birdsong. Clean toilets, cafe with breakfast and lunch menus, hot and cold food and drink, small museum and room with information about the family, shop.

Spent a lovely few hours at Renishaw Gardena today. Despite the very dry summer and the lateness off the season, there was still plenty to see. The gardens were really well tended so lots of blooms still out with the added bonus of a few autumn colours thrown in. It was peaceful (one of the few places you can't hear traffic noise) and very relaxing, just strolling around. There is a well kept picnic area, a free tramper which you can book for those who struggle to walk and clean loos. The man on reception was very friendly and welcoming.

Renishaw Hall Gardens. Lovely gardens that are clearly well tended with much attention and plenty of dedication. Not a rogue blade of grass or wayward leaf in evidence anywhere. Immaculate borders and matched colours everywhere. A delightful location for photographers. Good cafe, too. This was our 2nd visit: it won't be our last!

The National Videogame Museum is a family-friendly destination where visitors can immerse themselves in the history and culture of video games. Located in Sheffield, England, this museum offers interactive exhibits, educational programs, and a diverse collection of gaming artifacts. Visitors can play over 100 videogames ranging from retro classics to modern favorites like Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario. The museum also provides opportunities for young gamers to learn about game development through workshops and test unreleased games before anyone else.
One of the best days out for the kids! Been here a few times now and it never fails to amuse and entertain us. We spend hours each time here and would recommend it to anyone! Fun for all ages and everyone is welcome. Staff are friendly and helpful and facilities are clean.
Laura S — Google review
As a family of gamers since the 80s, we basically planned our entire holiday from the south around visiting the NVM, which is a beacon of joy in an otherwise fairly grim spot in Sheffield town centre. The museum staff were lovely and helpful, the space was clean and tidy, the range of games on display represented gaming history well and were thoughtfully grouped. They also had a drop-in workshop on stop-motion. Despite being in the summer holidays, it wasn’t excessively busy, so we got a good turn on all the games we wanted to play. I would love to see them expand in the future to bigger premises and really dive into the history and development of games, as well as the next steps. More on handheld consoles, VR and AR, gamification for well-being, bringing game elements into real life - there’s huge potential! Definitely give them a visit and support the importance of game education.

The National Videogame Museum is a fantastic place to visit, especially if you grew up playing classic games. They have a great collection of old, traditional arcade and console games that instantly bring back childhood memories. It’s a real nostalgia trip and also a lot of fun for anyone new to retro gaming. What I really liked is that there’s no time limit on how long you can stay, so you can take your time exploring and playing as much as you like. Just note they do close briefly for lunch, but it’s easy enough to plan around. The facilities are good too, with toilets available on-site, which makes it convenient if you’re spending a few hours there. Overall, it’s a fun and unique activity for both adults and kids, and I’d happily recommend it for a day out.

Really enjoyed a morning here with a group ranging in age from 12 to 50. Something for everyone. Clean toilets and good facilities including lockers. Parking is close by and also the bus station is a short walk away. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We loved that the tickets are valid for return visits for a whole year! Excellent value. Highly recommend.

Good place to visit with kids. You can play the classics like Sonic, Mario, Donkey Kong and Space Invaders on different devices. You can also team up with your family/friends on certain games. We spent about an hour here. Small gift shop selling branded merchandise from various games. Would be good if they had Xbox consoles playing COD etc in an adults only area.
Stacey B — Google review
Staff are brilliant, very approachable and helpful. Nice central location so getting here isn't an issue. A nice display of old school arcade machines and retro consoles, including some more modern ones. Would be great to see some more mature games such as GTA or Medal of Honor etc, but due to age of the guests I understand why they can't - maybe a 16+ area? Would be great to have more racing arcade games and possibly a Time Crisis machine? Reasonably priced giftshop, clean toilets and some interesting displays. Definitely worth a visit!

Cutlery Works is a massive food hall located in the old Rutland Cutlery Works building, offering a diverse range of dining options from around the world. With over 14 restaurants and three bars, it's the largest independent food hall in Northern England. The venue features open seating and an array of global eateries, making it perfect for groups with varying culinary preferences. Additionally, the space hosts various events throughout the year and offers hand-selected craft beverages to complement your dining experience.
Came here during my visit to Sheffield out of a friend's recommendation. Love every part of it! We ordered from Greek Gods, Viet Da Nang, and Jimmy's Burgers. All the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly! I ate the chicken gyros and it was really appetising. I also ordered a mocktail from the bar. I must give credit to the bartender (who said he was new but indeed did a fantastic job) for the refreshing and delectable drink. He was also very friendly and understanding (assuring me that the mocktail was definitely zero alcohol). Thank you! 😊

An incredible food hall with a wide variety of cuisines to suit all tastes. There’s also a bar with a good selection of beers and spirits. At each vendor, you order and collect a buzzer that goes off when your food is ready. This gives you the option to try food from all the vendors for your meal. The chicken strips from Dodo covered in garlic, honey and Parmesan were incredible. Service is friendly and helpful across the site. The only downside is the cooking smells. My clothes smelt like I’d cooked the food myself when I left. Which wasn’t pleasant.

Fantastic place, great way to use an old industrial site in the way that brings people in. Food court allows trying various cousins and we definitely took advantage of that. Greek gyros, salt & pepper hash browns, massala chips - all very good and not silly expensive. Great place to visit.

The smash burger I had at the cutlery works was... smashing! You do have to pay extra (50p) for a sauce for your chips but there's a good range and the chips are nice and crispy. It was a bit quiet when I went but I think the atmosphere would be better on weekends or evenings.

There are a wide variety of restaurants available from all over the globe. If looking at the stalls is overwhelming, you can scan the QR code and browse the menus on there, and can also order and pay online too, though there is a £1 fee for this. You then get a text when your food is ready and need to go to the booth to collect it. There were plenty of seats available, we were there at around 11am. We got the chicken chipotle tacos meal deal, and the chicken tikka naanwich.

Mayfield Animal Park, located in the picturesque Mayfield Valley, is a paradise for animal lovers. Spanning 45 acres, the park is home to over 170 animals including alpacas, llamas, dwarf mongooses, meerkats, exotic birds, horses and farm animals. Educational packages are available with classroom sessions and interactive animal tours. The indoor section houses lizards, snakes, exotic spiders and meerkats.
The tour is very well presented and informative. The guide was knowledgeable and approachable throughout and easily answered all questions. The food in the cafe is good but the servers seem a bit tacky, our food was visible in the serving hatch for at least 5 minutes before it was delivered to table. There were servers standing around chatting during this wait therefore the egg was solid when it was delivered.

We had THE most wonderful afternoon at Mayfield. We went on a 30 minute Alpaca walk with Madge, Monty and our guide Peter, who was so knowledgeable and his manner with the animals was so lovely. We were then left to have a wander around and see all the animals. It was less than £30 for the alpaca walk and time to see the rest of the sanctuary, which was great. The cafe is also gorgeous. What an incredible place ❤️
Chloe H — Google review
Did the 90mins alpaca experience and it was good fun. Everyone was super friendly and our ‘farm guide’ Peter was really knowledgeable, talked in great detail about all the animals but in a way that kept it fun and engaging. The alpaca experience was 50% alpacas, 50% other animals which I actually quite liked. Good value for money. And the cafe was nice too, with a good selection of sweet and savoury.
Sandra B — Google review
Had a fantastic time at Mayfield Alpaca Farm. The staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. All the animals look well cared for and have plenty of space. I highly recommend the 1.5 hour experience with the alpacas. Peter was an excellent guide, very pleasant and knowledgeable about all the animals.

A Hidden Gem – So Grateful for the Kindness and Warm Welcome I turned up at the alpaca farm with two toddlers in tow, hoping to blow off some steam around tea time. We arrived at about 5 PM, not realising they were closing early due to a quiet day. A gentleman spotted us in the car park and kindly came off his phone call to greet us. Despite the early closure, he warmly welcomed us in, waived the entry fee, and even provided a free bag of animal feed from the reception! He was incredibly friendly and polite, giving us lots of detailed information about the farm, which is now under new management. To top it off, he even offered to grab me a cup of tea from the café—such a thoughtful gesture. I did my best to get the little ones around quickly since it was meant to close at 6 anyway, but we could have easily spent hours there. The toddlers had a fantastic time feeding the wide variety of super friendly animals. We also noticed a lovely picnic area, which we’ll definitely make use of on our next visit. This charming spot is only about a mile from my house, and I can already see it becoming a regular outing for us. You can tell they’ve recently renovated, and the effort really shows. All in all, it was a brilliant experience made even better by genuine kindness and hospitality.

Additionally, the bar offers student deals such as super cheap drink prices and a 2-4-1 student night on Mondays.
We went into the common room to watch the F1 Grand Prix. We have been into several places to watch previous races in the past but they were lacking in atmosphere. However, the common room was brilliant, a great set up and I was surprised how many came to watch. We will definitely be back to watch further Grand Prix races there! Museums
The Graves Gallery, situated above Sheffield's Central Library, is a significant cultural institution showcasing British and European artworks from the 16th to the 20th century. Established in July 1934 with support from local businessman John George Graves, it features notable pieces by renowned artists such as Gainsborough, Turner, the Pre-Raphaelites, and Impressionists like Cezanne and Pissaro.
In between the winter Garden and the Lyceum Theatre it would be easy to miss the Graves Gallery as the entire building is under scaffolding and building boards. Today I spotted someone exiting the building so I took a chance and discovered that it is, in fact, open! The Gallery is on the 3rd floor above the Library and reached by lift or via a spectacular staircase. The Gallery houses really beautiful pieces in a variety of mediums and is the sort of place you could visit many times and still see more. Toilet plus baby changing on this level.
Anne S — Google review
The gallery is a unique collection of art; some of them can't be photographed because they're on loan from private collectors or are copyrighted, and they're some of the most intriguing ones in my opinion! In some of the rooms, there's visual art displayed on screens, which is quite interesting. It's a really nice circuit layout atop the public library. It's worth a visit and the gift shop is full of lovely things if you're looking for any souvenirs :) Staff were really lovely. It was a lovely way to fill around 40-50 minutes. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind the stairs up!

Nice range of classic and contemporary works of art on the third floor of the city library. I spent around 1 hour looking at several masterpieces. Many artists to mention here. The staff are friendly. Just turn up and appreciate the paintings, sculptures and a long tapestry too. I definitely would recommend another visit.

Graves Gallery is the smallish municipal art museum in Sheffield, housed on the 3rd floor of the imposing building that is the city's Central Library. About 5 minutes from Sheffield Station. Entry is free, and photography is allowed. Unfortunately, some of the galleries are closed at the moment for refurbishing, so we're temporarily left with some contemporary art (permanent) and an interesting temporary exhibit on the works of Sheffield sculptor George Fullard. His works and the fact that the nearby Millennium Gallery is also an interesting art venue make Graves Gallery worth a visit despite the momentary limitations.

Sheffield Manor Lodge, a captivating remnant of the 16th century, invites visitors to explore its rich history and stunning grounds. Originally constructed around 1516 as a retreat for George Talbot, the 4th Earl of Shrewsbury, this lodge is steeped in tales of royalty—most notably as the prison site for Mary, Queen of Scots. Lovely little pub, good atmosphere. Definitely will visit again when I'm next in Sheffield. We were also allowed to bring our own birthday cake. We have been to this pub on several occasions and the staff have always been polite and very helpful. I'd certainly go again.

The foods terrible now literally inedible the pork tacos were so over cooked it was like eating rubbers, don’t know how you get chunks from pulled pork. The beef is supposed to be 21 hours cooked low and slow but I can hold it on a fork without it pulling apart, I’d have an easier time chewing through a table leg, not to mention everything was cold , A year ago it used to be good but it’s fallen off now.

Fantastic new menu from the guys at Hefty Hen, we had the original Hashville Sandwich and a veggie House Honey, both phenomenal. Service from Joel was spot on as always

Nice place. I was very impressed that the menu had multiple vegan options available, and I had the vegan sausage and mash (comes with two bangers and gravy) while my mam had swordfish steak. Maybe a little spenny for the quality but pleasant nonetheless. Beer selection was impressive and the atmosphere (at least on a Friday night) was great. Would definitely return.

Coffee shop
Pom Kitchen is a vibrant and popular vegan restaurant located in Sheffield. Since 2017, this plant-based cafe has been serving up colorful and nutritious dishes with a unique Pom twist. Known for their show-stopping shakes and hot chocolates, the menu features an array of fruit, vegetables, and raw treats incorporated into refreshing smoothies, breakfast bowls, bagels, salads, and more.
Love this place. Always something interesting on the menu and great for dietary restrictions. Their vegan choices are wide and you aren't just relegated to a boring heavy piece of brownie like a lot of coffee shops.
Jennifer E — Google review
I have visited Pom twice in the past two months. During my first visit, we received our drinks in paper cups and our pastries in a bag, despite sitting outdoors. While the drink was enjoyable and the pistachio croissant delightful, I was left wondering why we were not provided with proper mugs and plates for our pastries. My second visit was unfortunately less satisfactory. Although the beverages and cake were served in the appropriate crockery while we were seated outside, the cakes were excessively dense, overly sweet, and almost sickening, making them impossible to finish. There were two staff members at the adjacent table who began taking photos of their Christmas drinks. This process took a loooooong time, resulting in an awkward atmosphere as we were frequently interrupted by their movements and them taking photos around us, trying to move out of their shots. Their lack of friendliness and consideration for our experience added to the discomfort, and despite expecting their photo session to conclude quickly, it persisted for over 20 minutes. I wish the same level of attention given to marketing their beverages was given to the customers. Just awkward!

I ordered a Pistachio Croissant. It’s super filling and joyful. The pastry is crunchy outside but soft inside, and the custard inside is rich and was oozing out when I bit into the croissant. Staff members are really friendly and helpful. Good vibe with chilled music in the background.

Loved the atmosphere of the café. It’s chic and lovely. We bought a vegan sausage roll and a chocolate and raspberry coconut slice, and they were wonderful.

I was blown away by the choice and the quality of this cute little cafe. The staff were so lovely and helpful too. I ordered the sausages and caramelised onion sandwich with a flat white, peanut butter fudge brownie and my friend got the pistachio croissant, they were all delicious! Even if you’re not vegan, you have to try this!

Came here for a vegan take out birthday breakfast. Defo recommend for vegans/veggies in Sheffield. Firstly, as a person who loves pink, this place is a feast for the eyes, too! Plenty of sweet treats (including a little vegan pick n mix), a drinks specials board as well as the usuals, and different sandwiches each time I’ve been in. I think mine was southern-fried ‘chicken’, slaw and sweet chilli on focaccia which was delicious and offered warmed up. Very sweet banoffee-style coffee and a great giant cookie. The girl who served me was an absolute delight and wished me happy birthday which was nice :) A few seats outside the front and a couple inside, too, with a dine-in menu.

I found the place strolling around the city and searched them on Instagram. Their photos looked so appetising and had to test how the food really taste... and the breakfast was so good! We tasted the Pom bowl and board and a couple of teas and I really recommend them. Perfect if you are looking for healthy, vegetarian or vegan options. I also liked that when we were there a supplier entered and left a box with fresh vegetables (lettuces, courgettes...). The waitress were kind and friendly and the decoration was cool too. They also accept dogs in case you are wondering...

Saw an Instagram photo of the valentines hot chocolate and thought I would treat my daughter today, so we popped down and got one, they had three different kinds. She had the gingerbread one, she loved it, just as good as the photos I had seen. Also got some cake and a latte, all really good, my latte could have been hotter though. Would recommend for sure and go back. We did have to queue a little however that wasn't a problem.

Shepherd Wheel is a former water-powered grinding workshop located in Bingham Park, Sheffield. It now operates as a museum showcasing the city's steel industry. The site features a 5.5m diameter overshot water wheel powered by a dam fed from the Porter Brook. This Grade II listed and Scheduled Ancient Monument offers insight into Sheffield's knife-grinding industry, highlighting the dangerous nature of the job with an average life expectancy of only 26 years for workers.

Very informative and passionate volunteers. We have walked past many times in the week and were lucky to be able to visit at the weekend when it was open. The ‘tour’ started when one of the volunteers shouted over to my son to ask him if he was the apprentice that had been sent. This immediately made us feel more at ease as I have wanted to visit, but was a little put off as it seemed busy. What followed was a visit to the building itself and a very informative talk about its history. There is an option to donate but you don’t feel under pressure. Both cash and cashless. Well worth a visit.

What a great initiative! The volunteers are really friendly & well informed, the signboards are excellent & it's just a beautiful place. I learnt so much & had not appreciated how difficult the life of a knife grinder was

We had a lovely visiting Runaround. My daughter really enjoyed herself. They have a little baby toddler area and a big area for the big kids! There was a big ball pit in both toddlers and a big kids area, whichever my daughter enjoyed, and she really loved the blue spaced themed slide! The food was lovely, which we enjoyed. We had chips, baguettes with salad and coleslaw. The staff were so friendly and welcoming!

Our second party at Runaround and again, a great experience. Attentive staff and very helpful with everything during the party. Jugs of juice provided during the playing time and a great selection of food for their tea. No allergies this time, but have had a child last year with allergies and they catered for them with no trouble. We were looked after by Taylor who was looking after us for his first party and he did a cracking job! I'm sure your confidence will grow as you do more, carry on doing what you're doing and you'll be great!

I took my two nieces aged 2 and 3 on a Sunday. Crazy busy with loads of parties. However place was clean and tidy and didn't wait long. Price wise it's ok. About a stage I guess. Lots of frames for kids to play on and good little kids area. All staff doing a great job. Olivia working on food and drinks was very nice and helpful.

We love coming here with our little one, except when they have 3 parties in one morning. WOW, it is chaos. The kids aren't all parented at the best of times but when they allow more than 1 party at the same time, it honestly gives me anxiety. The kids are feral, I know the staff can't do much about people's kids but I dont think they should have more than 1 party at the same time, it really spoils it for other people. I wished they'd have told me there was that many parties on before I paid my entry. Other than that, everywhere is nice and clean, the staff are really friendly (big up to the young lad who works there, his energy is amazing!), and the food is good.

Stopped here for an hour with our 1 year old on a 5 hour road trip. Just looking for somewhere to let him stretch his legs and get some energy out. Recently took my 15 month old grandson, The 0-3 years area was full of older children no staff insight to deal with this! What is the point in signing your child in with their age if there are no restrictions realistically? Or supervision from staff I get it’s not their responsibility to look after the children but definitely staffs responsibility to make sure rules are followed!!! I have personal messaged twice now with absolutely no response I will not be returning or recommending! Absolutely terrible place

Nestled within the scenic Graves Park, Graves Park Animal Farm is a delightful destination for families and animal lovers alike. This charming farm showcases some of the rarest breeds in the UK, including Tamworth pigs, Highland cattle, and Jacob sheep. Visitors can enjoy an interactive experience with friendly goats, donkeys, and various waterfowl. The farm is open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (excluding Christmas Day), making it a perfect spot for a day out.
My kids had a great time at this farm. There were lots of animals to see and play with, including some adorable lambs. Be prepared to pay a small fee to feed them, but it's worth it. The farm was clean and well maintained, and the animals seemed happy and healthy. Plenty of space for kids to run around and play. A great day out!

What a fantastic family farm. Huge variety of animals all looking healthy and happy. This farm is free entry with donations welcomed what an amazing thing for Sheffield council to do. The staff were all so friendly. The farm is really well set out. There was lamb feeding and the option to buy feed for the other animals, the Highland cow was extremely gentle when eating out of my hand. The farm is a real asset set in a beautiful park. Please make sure you donate when you visit to help It to continue operating

Beautiful animals...particularly majestic was the horse (tempted to land on a groomed/rescued(?) Cob as the breed due to the hands)... Saw it stand proud as I returned but too many bad vibes around to take a clear shot while there today! This particularly beautiful specimen lives in the shed/enclosure just past the main shed (upon entry to the Animal Farm)! Wonderful service today at the gift shop...bought some lovely toys for my fur baby that I know he'll love!
Laws C — Google review
This is a local park for me, so I'm very lucky. This animal park is free to visit, but there is a sum up to tap to donate £3.00 to help run this. I would like to see a choice of what to donate like £1 or £2. Some families may not be able to afford the suggested donation. There is a churn inside that you can drop cash in if you have it on you. This park is huge. I only visited the animal and play parks with my grandchildren. There are picnics seating tables inside the animal park. The animal feed is £1.50 to buy and signs around, saying which animals can be fed. You can visit the Rose garden cafe for food/drink. You can make this day as cheap or expensive as you like. The park also hosts events.

It's not a big farm but so lovely with extremely friendly farm animals. There's a small kods car ride, nice coffee place and siting areas as well. You can see ducks, alpacas, plenty of goats, pigs, chickens, horses, donkeys, ponny, and some other animals. They have small shop aswell which you can buy animal food and feed them, and cute toys. I loved the shop and I had ice coffee, which was so delicious. It's a lovely place to spend a nice time with your kids.

A beautiful and peaceful spot right in the heart of Sheffield. I really enjoyed my visit to Victoria Quays, it’s a lovely place to walk around, relax by the water, or just take in the calm atmosphere. The combination of canal boats, historic buildings, and quiet surroundings makes it feel like a hidden gem in the city. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a peaceful break from the busy streets.

Now I know where it is I’ll definitely go back when I have more time to explore. It’s hard to believe that it’s in the heart of the city as it so quiet and picturesque. There weren’t many people around when I visited but I noticed the cafes were busy and there were other businesses too. It really is quite different to surrounding areas and put me in mind if Leeds Dock or the Birmingham canals.

It’s so unfortunate that we had such a terrible experience! All we wanted for kids to have fun! We came on Sunday 6pm And children made it to last session ….. But since we opened the door, everyone Greeted us so unhappy that we appear than children were coming into the session:( I thought this place it was meant for children to have fun, But instead that they got side eyed and unhappy faces From people who works there:🥵🤯🫣 I understand this Sunday and it’s the last hour, but please please come on Have a heart 💔 The actual place is very dirty, even the people pretending to clean it:0 Floors are sticky like a glue:🤯It should be disinfected and clean properly is disgusting! But the worst part is the attitude of the crew who was working here 🫣We ordered 4 cups of tea through the app, but unfortunately the crew could not even do that that🤯 They delivered only tree cups with Miserable faces🫣 And when I went down and asked them about another tea, they told me that the order came through separate🤯 How does that work ? We have been asked to sit in a specific place even we wanted to sit where we can see the children🥹🥵 After this visit, I think I need a therapy🧘 I wish I could have a full refund🤯🥵

We came on a Monday during school holidays and the place was packed, the poor girls on the front counter could have done with some reinforcements, check in took over 20 minutes (if we'd pre-booked this time would have been lost). Inside was just as busy, with music blasting and disco lights flashings which was great for the kids. Plenty of activities inside that kept my kids very busy and entertained. I think it's overpriced though for 60 minutes. Didn't spot any cleanliness issues during our time here so id have to say it was clean for how busy it was. Overall ok but pricey

My son injured himself, and the staff were amazing, reacted very quickly, so friendly and kind and they even continued to check up on him through out our session. I’m annoyed I didn’t get their names, but everyone working on the 5 - 6:30 Shift on 25/10/25 were amazing. I also had a problem with my payment but the staff were so helpful and understanding. Thank you for providing us with great fun and customer service.

Great place, my 10yr old loved it. Staff were amazing. Even turned music down as child had autism. Little cafe to wait for kids, highly recommend

This was terrible. It took 20 minutes to do check in because they only had 1 member of staff doing that. I asked "we'll still get a full hour won't we" - was told yes, 1 hour from the point of entry. Inside it was hell. Half the stuff is height restricted but it's really poorly signposted as to which bits. Periodic announcements "1 person per trampoline" - never stuck to. "Parents of toddlers please hold your child's hand at all times" - impossible unless you're jumping with them on the same trampoline... And if you are jumping on a trampoline, be prepared for other feral kids to go running underneath you. It's far too crowded and understaffed. Announcement came on after 40 minutes "purple wristbands your time is up". So we never got the full hour, but I was also just glad to be out. Safe to say, I'll never be back

The Showroom Cinema in Sheffield is a vibrant and culturally rich independent cinema with four screens that showcase a diverse range of films, from mainstream blockbusters to art house and cult favorites. The cinema is housed in a stunning art deco building and features a foyer cafe/bar where visitors can enjoy drinks before catching a film. The venue also hosts live music and various events, making it a hub for the creative community in Sheffield.
A favorite cinema spot of mine going back 20 years ago for foreign, obscure, indie & awards contender releases, this is the best venue for a movie viewing with fellow like-minded people who are serious & respectful cinema-goers, not fools who turn up & ruin a screening with endless mouthing off & loony phone antics. After a one-two punch from Co-Vid & bouncing back from struggles with my mental health, I'm back in the saddle for venturing out to see new titles (what there are worth seeing on the big screen that is - do better Hollywood!), so my geek faith has been renewed by returning to this terrific venue. I just saw Guillermo del Toro's beautiful & moving take on 'Frankenstein' there which was even given a tongue-in-cheek introduction by one of their staff members before the lights dimmed. Count me in for the next 'Knives Out' feature!

Somewhat alright cinema. The quality of the video was not even 4k and prices for food too high sound quite terrible as it wasn’t very loud but it somewhat made up for it because of the comfort of the seat and the quick line at the front. It also does smell a bit like old furniture.

We booked tickets online and unfortunately was unavailable and so I spent days in the lead up to the showing calling the number they provide on the website and no one answered. I emailed the email provided on the website regarding refunds and it kept bouncing back. Finally got through to someone on the phone who wasn’t very helpful and advised us to email the same email we had been emailing so it was the correct email address. Not helpful at all. Good place to chill out and go on a night out however the bouncers will definitely put me off going for good.
Demi D — Google review
Not great as a club, would be a terrible pub. Way too loud to talk with people, the barrel tables are all sloshing with liquid so if you walk into one, you'll get soaked, and the atmosphere is honestly really dead. Other clubs like West Street Live and Tiger Works have a much better atmosphere without the distraction of random sports channels constantly flashing away at the top of your vision. The staff were pleasant but having experienced Molly Malone's, I won't be going back. 2/5 stars
Rory P — Google review
Racist! We were six of us, waiting almost an hour in the line. This guy asks how many of us together, we said 6. And he says we can’t let more than 5. But there were groups more then 8 in the line he let in. Felt humiliated. Will never have good opinion on Sheffield again.

Great staff and environment to have a pint of original Murphy's Irish Stout (not so easy to come by over here).

The bouncers were incredibly rude. I was helping a friend and they grabbed my drink from my hand, poured it on the floor and grabbed my other wrist to stop me stopping them.

Miniature golf course
Paradise Island Adventure Golf Sheffield is the perfect destination for a fun-filled family outing. This vibrant indoor facility features two immersive 18-hole miniature golf courses, each adorned with tropical palm trees, jungle ruins, and captivating statues that transport you to a Caribbean paradise. The venue also includes Pirate Cove, an exciting play area designed for children aged 0 to 12, allowing parents to relax while their kids enjoy safe and energetic playtime.
This is a great place to go with groups and families perfect for adults and children. We visited on a Sunday and took advantage of the great 2 for 1 deal with a tram ticket. The two courses both have 18 holes and are challenging to complete with many fun features, particularly on course two! A really enjoyable first visit and we will be back.
Adam B — Google review
Cheap fun family day out, they have 2 x 18 golf courses to choose from, downstairs is the beach course and upstairs which we chose is the Aztec jungle course, for both adults and children and each hole isn’t too difficult and completely different from the next which is always good. Discounted price if you pay to do both of the 18 holes so 36 total on the same day.
Toby H — Google review
This was a superb venue for golfing, where me and my friend got a 2 for 1 crazy golf deal along with 50% off for user of a tram ticket! One of the courses is based on a temple and begins with boxes as you move on up, followed by statues that represent the temple. The jungle course is exciting as it goes along a peaceful setting, featuring different decorations that imitate nature and some holes even have obstacles to navigate around! Golf clubs are available right away at reception, staff were really nice too.

I’m disappointed that I’ve had to give this visit 3 stars instead of 5 but had it spoiled by one of the staff members. Alex (I’m gathering by the name badge) is quite frankly one of the rudest and most incompetent customer service workers I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. She was rude, dismissive and generally unpleasant to deal with. She ignored me and my husband upon arrival and I had to loudly greet her to get her attention as she was too preoccupied staring at a computer screen to be bothered serving. Through the whole interaction she was loudly sighing, snapping at us and slamming around items on the counter top and seemingly doing her best to drive away business. Whenever we tried asking any questions as we had never been before the receiving glare just wasn’t worth the hassle. Despite this awful experience the course we chose was fun and had a great level of difficulty that I’d recommend for all ages. Truly the only thing that saved the visit was the other member of staff that we interacted with Niamh who appeared to be the manager on duty at the time. In comparison to her colleague she was incredibly polite and enthusiastic when interacting with us and answered several questions that we asked (about their party and group offers) to an outstanding level, she went above and beyond to help us and it helped change my opinion on the visit. Although I didn’t raise a grievance about the other staff member at the time I hope some proper training can be given to staff about how to properly interact with a person and not treat them as an inconvenience when trying to have a day out.
Katie H — Google review
Never posted about booking process before - But Claire (I think the manager) was helpful and polite. She made the ease of booking a fairly large event seem easy seamless. Great customer service
Dhillon S — Google review
I decided to book here because we were staying at Gullivers and wanted something to do after closing. We arrived slightly earlier than we booked but got straight in. The girl on the front was friendly and welcoming. Playing the first couple of holes, I thought there was an issue with the course, as it seemed uneven, But after a few more we realised it was supposed to be like that and made the rounds more challenging, which is what you want. Both courses were fun to play, the themes were good too. It wasnt too busy either, so didnt feel the need to rush our turns. Next time Im in Sheffield I will definitely come back here.
Linz — Google review
I recently visited this golf facility featuring a relatively small course designed for young players. While the concept and layout are suitable for kids, the venue suffers from a serious lack of ventilation. The indoor environment is extremely hot and humid, creating uncomfortable and at times almost suffocating conditions. This issue was noticeable during my first visit in the winter, when guests were already struggling with the air quality. Unfortunately, my second visit in the summer proved even more challenging. I strongly recommend that the management address this problem by installing a proper air-conditioning system or significantly improving the ventilation. Without these changes, the experience is likely to remain unpleasant for both children and accompanying adults.
Rafat T — Google review
Not very good at all. The money these charge is crazy. Far too over priced. Most of the holes are the same, no air con and nothing special at all. Go somewhere else rather that here. We got a deal using another site so it was around half price and I still feel robbed.

First time here.great venue for sound.went to see the wedding present .good acoustics.queues for bars not long really compared to other venues.theres a bar below for a quick pint if you get there too early.you can use different entrances for same gig.bit of a walk from city/train station but doable. Would definitely go again for another gig.

Went for a gig. No signs to show where it is from the street, so expect to spend 5 minutes looking for it. Good sized venue with a good bar and decent sound amd lights too.

Not too big but that makes it a more intimate setting for less well known bands. We saw Clann An Drumma on the 5th of July and it was perfect.

Standard midsize venue experience, all on one level, including entry. Bar is off to one side and away from stage. Sound is excellent. It's all down to the artists to bring the space to life, it's a blank canvas standard stage layout. Bar had good selection of drinks and prices were okay.

Brilliant small gig venue close to the heart of Sheffield. Drinks are very reasonable, will definately visit again.

Went to watch a comedian and it was the first time I had seen unreserved seats. A great intimate venue where you feel close to the performance. The chairs were jammed in mak8ng it feel a bit uncomfortable and more people on the bar to prevent queues.

Escape Sheffield offers a variety of immersive escape room experiences, including Witchcraft and Wizardry and 221B Baker Street. The challenges are perfect for those seeking an engaging and fun experience. Visitors recommend enjoying the company you're with and making sure to take a restroom break before entering. While it may be a bit pricey, the fun is worth it. The game masters are supportive and make the experience enjoyable.
Fantastic venue and even better host. Really enjoyed our game even tough I was rubbish but the hints very incredibly welcome
Fasil K — Google review
Arrived 30 minutes before session and called to be let in and was told to wait outside, the area we were asked to wait in was full of drug users openly using drugs with paraphernalia scattered about. Frankly we were concerned for our safety and extremely put off so we called to cancel and offered to take a gift voucher to use at another venue but that was declined. Decided to cut our losses and just leave after not reaching a resolution with the staff on the phone. If this is the state of the area you're expected to wait in some forewarning would be nice...

We did the Harry potter style escape room with spells and witchcraft right at the heart of the theme. Being seasoned escape room regulars We found this room quite challenging and you really had to think hard to figure out how to get out. We managed a time of 46 mins which given the level if difficulty, we were happy with.
Ed B — Google review
We had a great time! We did two back to back on Sunday - Baker Street and Witchcraft and Wizardry. The person looking after us was so nice - they really made us feel welcome. We were a bit loud and over excited and the delt with it really well.
Nat S — Google review
We recently visited escape Sheffield for a hen party and played the witch and wizardry rooms. We played head to head in 2 teams of 3. Upon arrival we rang to let them know we were outside. We were promptly greeted by our game host Alex who welcomed us and led us in. Alex was friendly from the onset and had a great way of explaining the rules and story in a funny and engaging manner. Once we got started in the room it seemed quite bare and we were unsure how it would take a whole hour to escape, but as we got going one clue led to another and another and we almost used the whole time to escape. Some of the props could benefit from being replaced and replenished to help add to the atmosphere but it didn't take away from our experience and the friendliness of the staff made up for any tired decor. The puzzles were a good balance of difficulties and we were thankful for the hints Alex sent us when needed. We had a great experience and would definitely book again next time we are in the area to try the other rooms
Kerry M — Google review
Such a fun experience. Went for my birthday and even with a party of 2 we had a great time. I'd definitely recommend that you enjoy the company of the person you're going with and that you have a toilet break before you go in. A little pricey but worth it for the fun. The game master was lovely and supportive as it was our first room. She made the story very fun and was very helpful when we were stuck. Definitely recommend and I will be going back soon to have a cracking at the spookier rooms.

Son 1: "Really good, we loved it." Son 2: "I loved all the puzzles and the way they all worked" We went we a family with two boys, aged 9 and 12. We tried the witchcraft and wizardry room and found it very enjoyable with a good amount of challenge. The theming was great and the puzzles were all accessible and well designed. Would highly recommend this room but for newbies, you may want to try one of their easier rooms first. Context: we've completed around 20 escape rooms and played numerous puzzle games

Hiking area
Rivelin Valley Trail is a 6-mile nature walk near Sheffield, offering a refreshing escape from urban life. The trail features waterfalls, stepping stones, and lush woodlands, providing opportunities for exploration and relaxation. This area was once a hub of industrial activity, with remnants of the city's steel and cutlery industry visible along the route. Visitors can also enjoy artistic installations that pay homage to Sheffield's heritage and natural beauty.
Only issue was the sat nav took us past the car park it’s only small and before the cafe. The walk was beautiful all different paths you can take nice shady walk for Ollie, we stopped at the cafe which was nice too , would definitely recommend a walk there
Pauline A — Google review
Good easy hiking for weekend. Due to summer, the water level were low and hence didnt notice waterfall. Play for kids are available as well, along with an icecream van. The bridges were beautiful and we spotted 2 swings made of tires hanging from the tree, whoever made these swings -Thanks a lot! Overall refreshing walk.
Osu P — Google review
Beautiful place, very relaxing and quiet. Not the easiest walk as there are lots of rocks/stones and tree roots to contend with. Crossing the stepping stones was fun, if a bit wobbly. If the weather had been sunnier I would have been paddling, there are plenty of places to dip your feet if you are so inclined. The trail is about 2 miles 1 way and it took us 2 hours (we didn't walk fast) We wussed out on the way back and took the road path, which took us 50 mins. It was much quicker but not as scenic. Would recommend.
Liz S — Google review

Very scenic. Nice trek. Can be confusing to navigate. Try not to move too far from the water to avoid getting lost. There's a cafe on route and streets nearby where you can grab an ice cream in good weather.

Sheffield DocFest, held in 2019, offered great value with its doclovers wristband. It showcased an array of incredible documentaries, including UK premieres. The festival provided opportunities to engage in panels, question directors and producers, network with industry professionals, and explore innovative technology. With notable guests like Michael Moore and David Attenborough, the event offered reasonably priced passes or individual tickets for attendees to discover new documentary worlds or delve deeper into familiar ones through relaxed Q&A sessions.
Attended Doc/fest for the first time this year (2019) with a doclovers wristband, great value for money over the weekend where I saw a number of amazing documentaries, some of which were UK premieres. Great opportunities to get involved in panels, ask directors, producers, and documentary participants questions, network with others in the industry, and discover innovative new technology. Give it a go, you won't regret it!
Hannah W — Google review
A wonderful festival. The biggest names in documentaries turn up, past guests include Michael Moore, David Attenborough, Louise Theroux, and Asif Kapadia. Often the film makers enjoy giving friendly and relaxed Q&A's after. It's reasonable priced for passes or one off tickets and will expose anyone to a new world they never knew existed or go deeper into the ones they know.

Nestled within the Robert Hadfield Building at Sheffield University, the Turner Museum of Glass is a hidden gem that showcases an impressive collection of 19th and 20th-century glass artifacts. Established in 1943 by Professor Turner, this small yet fascinating museum offers visitors a glimpse into the artistry and craftsmanship from various countries. Although it may be tricky to locate—look for signs directing you to floor E—the experience is well worth it.
Located in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. it is beside my office during my PhD study. Really miss these days :)
Husein M — Google review
Really Difficult to find, nothing on the street to signpost it. Look for the Robert Hadfield Building of Sheffield University, there you will see a sign for the museum outside the door. You don't need to announce yourself the receptionist didn't acknowledge us at all. Take the lift to floor E and turn left, through some doors and that's it. It is one room with old display cases around it. Lecturers wandered through but most didn't speak to us, one friendly lady wanted to make sure we'd seen one of the more spectacular pieces on display, but didn't stop walking to talk. There was a snack machine in the corner. I'm sure I had read somewhere that there is a big cafeteria in the building or one of the neighbouring ones, but couldn't see reference to it on our visit, so didn't use it. We didn't see toilets either, and there was no one to ask at reception as we left. The display cases are not lit to show the pieces at there best, and some are crowded. Much of the written info is not visible from where you can see the relevant pieces. Despite the space not really feeling very welcoming to members of the public, I found the visit really interesting. There was lots to read if you wanted, or you could just wander around looking at the exhibits. I would love to know more, and thought some on street signposting and a welcome/info sign as you enter the museum would make a big difference. Also, some nice lighting would be great... I shone my phone torch upwards and around through a piece in the wall with lots of tall glass spikes with seed head like tops, and the sparkles, colours and shadows made an unremarkable display into a mesmerising one. An audio guide file on the website that you could download and be talked through the pieces like a guide would is another thing that I am sure could be provided without costing the earth. I'd love to be able to do a tour of the different courses in that building, maybe see a few demos of the engineering processes taught, or even a week of induction.... maybe even an evening course? I was dying to just wander around the building peering through doors as it seemed like such an exciting place because of the subjects! (Obviously I didn't because it would be a shame if they had to stop the public having open access.)
