Pukekura Park is a serene oasis located in the heart of New Plymouth. The park offers a variety of attractions, including walking trails, formal gardens, lakes, and children's play areas. Visitors can marvel at the stunning view of Mount Taranaki and catch breathtaking sunsets at Back Beach. The park also features a teahouse and hosts the Festival of Lights during the summer.
Visited whilst attending a cricket match. What a lovely tranquil park. Turning on the waterfall & fountain (finding the buttons) was great. The cafe was well priced & lovely drinks. A really nice walk round. Plenty of shade if required.

Maybe with the exception of the Hamilton Gardens, this park is easily my favourite in NZ. It is an absolute gem and highlight in New Plymouth and a must see if you are passing through or staying on holiday. There are many nice walks, but equally as great is the big pond, bridges and many nice minor sights along the tracks. It is an easy walk and you can choose how far you go. There is a cafe as well, which is nice for views and relaxing. Overall, highly recommend!
Straan W — Google review
It’s a beautiful park. There are enough things to do to keep you entertained. There’s a cafe you can relax after a nice walk around the park. There’s a buggy you can ride on for $5 per person and a gold coin donation for children, it takes you around the park effortlessly. There’s a fernery where you can see various of plants and flowers, free of entrance! It is a big park, you can definitely get those steps in easily. There’s a public toilet too. You can see different age groups hanging around. You can meet different dog breeds too as they take a stroll on the park with their owner. You can also find ducks waddling around. Parking may be a struggle though. Best to park your car at the park rather than at the entrance of the park! Oh and it’s also wheelchair friendly too!

This beautiful park is always an amazing place to visit no matter how many years you've been away from home, so many fond family memories 💜

A great park to spend some time with. Had a nice walk and lots of fun enjoying looking at the cutie ducklings.

This park is worth ten stars, not five. It would be a crime not to have a good walk around and explore when visiting New Plymouth. It is outstanding.
Fletcher — Google review
Pukekura Park in New Plymouth is widely considered a jewel in New Zealand's horticultural crown, offering a truly diverse and engaging experience for all ages. Here's a comprehensive review: Overall Impression: Pukekura Park is a sprawling, meticulously maintained urban oasis that seamlessly blends formal gardens, native bush, open lawns, and recreational facilities. It's much more than just a park; it's a living canvas that changes with the seasons, offering something new to discover with every visit. Its beauty, tranquility, and variety make it a beloved spot for locals and a must-see for visitors to New Plymouth. Key Highlights: * Diverse Landscapes: The park boasts an impressive range of landscapes, from formal English-style gardens with vibrant annual bedding displays to dense native bush walks, tranquil fern grottos (the Fernery & Display Houses are a particular highlight), and serene lakes. This variety ensures there's always something visually appealing around every corner. * Iconic Features: * Lakes and Waterfalls: The series of artificial lakes, fed by natural streams, are central to the park's charm. You can rent traditional wooden rowboats (seasonal) for a peaceful paddle, and the picturesque waterfall (which lights up at night during the Festival of Lights) is a popular photo spot. * Poet's Bridge: This charming bridge is another favorite for photographers and adds to the park's romantic ambiance. * Bowl of Brooklands: A world-class natural amphitheater nestled within the park, the Bowl of Brooklands is famous for hosting major concerts, including the WOMAD festival, and is a key venue for the Festival of Lights. Its lakeside setting provides a unique and memorable concert experience. * Fernery & Display Houses: These partially sunken glass-topped grottos are a tropical haven, showcasing an extensive collection of native and exotic ferns and other plants. It's a fantastic place to escape the elements and immerse yourself in lush greenery. * Brooklands Zoo: A free, family-friendly zoo located within the park, home to a variety of animals, including farmyard animals, meerkats, and a walk-through aviary. It's a great bonus for families. * TSB Festival of Lights (Summer): This is arguably Pukekura Park's most famous event. From mid-December to late January, the park transforms into a magical wonderland with hundreds of dazzling light displays, live entertainment, and food vendors. It's a free event and a truly enchanting experience, especially for families. There's also a smaller "Winter Pop-Up" around Matariki. * Accessibility: The park is generally very accessible, with well-maintained paths suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. There are numerous entrances, allowing easy access from various parts of the city. * Free Entry: Pukekura Park (and Brooklands Zoo) is free to enter and enjoy year-round, making it an incredibly valuable community asset and an affordable attraction for tourists. * Wildlife: The park is home to a variety of birdlife, including ducks, shags, tui, and kereru (New Zealand wood pigeon), adding to the natural experience. Things to Consider: * Crowds during Festival of Lights: While magical, the Festival of Lights attracts large crowds, particularly on weekends and evenings. If you prefer a quieter experience, visit during the day or in the off-season. Tips for Visitors: * Allocate Time: Pukekura Park is expansive (52 hectares), so allow plenty of time to explore its various sections. You could easily spend half a day or more here. * Wear Comfortable Shoes: There are many paths to explore, so comfortable footwear is essential. * Pack a Picnic: The park offers numerous beautiful spots for a picnic. Alternatively, the Tea House on the Lake provides refreshments. * Check Event Listings: If you're visiting in summer, definitely check the dates for the TSB Festival of Lights and any concerts at the Bowl of Brooklands. * Visit the Fernery: Even if you're not a keen gardener, the Fernery is a unique and captivating experience.

The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre is a contemporary art museum with an international reputation and reach. It was founded in 1970 and occupies the site of the former Regent Theatre, showcasing groundbreaking exhibitions and multi-sensory installations by local and international artists. The Len Lye Centre, opened in 2015, focuses on promoting contemporary art and the work of Len Lye.
This was a really innovative gallery - small but a delight. Hadn't come across much digital art before, so that as really cool, particularly given the fusion with traditional art practices, and the Pacific tapa exhibition made me really appreciate how much effort goes into that beautiful traditional practice - 15 years work for one mat for example! Amazing...

Went here on a rainy morning. For visitors it’s $15 each which is not bad. The exhibition was about Maori and Polynesian with their weaving and other stories to tell. The two lovely ladies were really accomodating and did a great job with explaining the art and story behind it. They also went beyond just that, expressing their opinions and views and really striking a conversation. I guess this is what art is about, it’s more than just the visuals. The place is spacious and well managed.
JC — Google review
Small but mighty art gallery, very chill and feels great to be there, easily spend an hour or more. great place to visit especially on a rainy day. Located right in the centre of the town, next to the white hart hotel and a short walk from the centre city mall. Great interactive art work and craft areas for both the young and not so young. None New Plymouth residence will be charged a $15 admission. Super friendly staff, always keen to walk you through the art work, tell you about the artists, and discuss observations. Great experience, highly recommend.
S S — Google review
2024: My gosh, that is one shiny building. One of the more striking buildings I've seen in NZ, which steals the spotlight from the exhibitions, as they pale in comparison. Most of the interior was rather empty, I guess with the focus on negative space..? The main art is the architecture.
Malcolm Y — Google review
The exhibition was of island weaving and print's, there was another exhibition too. It was very interesting to see up close these natural beautiful mats, hangings and the detailing. 7 ladies , took 7 months to create one hanging 😍
Kat S — Google review
I do very much like the design of this building, it's very impressive. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are a few intresting galleries but not a huge amount and it doesn't take long to go through them ☺️
Josh V — Google review
Not my cup of tea at all. This art gallery is a large building with a very small number of objects or pictures within a great deal of space. The objects and pictures weren’t even particularly interesting but maybe I’m not “cultured” enough to appreciate them. The museum down the road is far better.
Fletcher — Google review
The building itself is very distinctive and well designed. There is a 15$ entry fee. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The displays/ arts works of Len Lye are interesting and look unique. The staff will initiate the movement of the art pieces in certain time so you can fully understand the arts works. It is not for everyone and you can appreciate the futuristic arts of Len Lye. There is a small souvenir shop. Overall pleasant trip. P.s - there is no car park at the gallery and needs to park on the street parkings.

Nice small museum to spend some time, especially with kids. Kids might enjoy some fun there.

There was a lot of information on the surrounding area especially around the Mt, the eruptions and how the land was formed, and the different soils/ rocks that now make up the area. Another section was about the old days, what this area is known for and famous things and people from here. It was very informative and interesting

Kudos to the Government of New Zealand for keeping this landmark institution updated . One has ample time to learn and discover the hard work by the New Zealanders striving for excellence at all times . A must visit ! Especially the younger generation can learn its history of scientific efforts to conserve and preserve nature and learn from it . There is an old saying Nature doesn’t need us we need it so watch and be conscious what you are doing !

Amazing museum this is a great place for all ages and on a rainy day. Free admission for everyone. The front entrance is not in use, you will need to enter from the side entrance which is not all that obvious. Located right near the beach/sea. Walking distance from the centre city mall in town. Kids are welcome to do the scavenger hunt and get cute stamps.

Puke Ariki is an incredibly informative and engaging museum that's a delight to explore. Inside, you'll find Te Takapou Whariki o Taranaki, an exhibit showcasing Māori culture—though photography isn’t allowed, it's a deeply enriching experience. The museum also features Taranaki Life, an insightful exhibit about the region's heritage. During our visit, there was an intriguing exhibition about the moon, which added to the experience. There’s also an i-SITE within the museum, making it a convenient stop for travel information. A must-visit for anyone exploring Taranaki!

Interesting museum covering marine life and Maori culture and displays worth a visit

We had so much fun in Puke Ariki. Small but very informative about the history of New Plymouth and lives of new migrants. Also fun facts about brown Kiwi and reefs project are very interesting. This is the Free entry. Overall, great place for family to visit - as indoors activity.

Paritutu Rock is a popular hiking destination located in downtown New Plymouth, offering challenging climbs and panoramic views from the top. Rising 156m above sea level, it provides incredible views of Mount Taranaki and the surrounding area. The climb involves steep steps and a rock climb with chains for support. Visitors can also catch a sunset at Back Beach, discover a glow worm colony, and enjoy picturesque views accessible by driving up to the location.
Went on a climb with my family. One of my family members fainted close to the top. It was quite a hot day. Luckily a couple of people assisted us. I ran down all the way to the top and back up again with some water and sugar. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds. My legs hurt for days after. Anyways it’s very steep and even I who feel confident on my abilities to climb and balance still felt the adrenaline during the climb. At times i felt the climb was more than 45 degrees! Luckily there is a rope. But if you do get to the top the view is beautiful.
Tobias — Google review
A decent climb, nice to see spots like this where you actually need to climb. Steps with railing 2/3 of the way up, rocky climb with guide chain to top. A little sketchy coming back down if you're not that confident
Ioan C — Google review
333 steps took me as far as I was happy to climb. I avoided the challenge of the remaining strenuous steep cliff face climb to the summit. Clinging to a chain "rope" Spectacular views
Meg G — Google review
Good place to do a bit climbing. Bit steep, top section has chain only no stairs. The top has fantastic view to city, ocean, beach and Mt Taranaki, well worth the effort
David L — Google review
BEAUTIFUL place to catch the sunset or even walk the beach. Tons of spots to park and sit
Brooks S — Google review
Besides Pukekura Park and the Coastal Walkway which are the best spots in New Plymouth, this place is also a must see. It is situated about a 10 minute drive outside the CBD and provides views of New Plymouth, Mount Taranaki and the Tasman Sea. If you feel like exercising, visitors can climb the rock though it does get quite dangerous after a certain point so only go as far you are comfortable with. This is just a neat attraction with views and a good workout.
Straan W — Google review
Great view of New Plymouth and the port. We saw Mount Taranaki backward on a fine day and small islands ahead! We enjoyed the front black sand beach without going all the way up to the top. There are a lot of seagulls. Don't be scared. I enjoyed sitting on the edge of a large lawn with my kids and feeding a beautiful flying seagull. Take your time and enjoy the scenery!
Alex K — Google review
It’s a short, steep hike with the top half pretty much a climb up using the provided anchored posts and chains. With reasonable fitness we were able to get there in under 15 mins, and less time down. Great views of the whole New Plymouth region, both of the coastal and Mountain View.

The walkway is perfect for walking, running, cycling, or skating and features various access points for pedestrians. A good easy walk with views out to the Sugarloaf Islands and the waterfront of New Plymouth. Very popular with cyclists so walkers beware! A lot of people start at New Plymouth's iconic art installation ; the Wind Wand and head out to Te Rewa Rewa Bridge before returning
Bernard S — Google review
One of the most beautiful and quirky walks we've done at New Years. The coast views, happy campers, little cafe nooks every km it seems, and the gorgeous bridge at the end. Outstanding!
Kim G — Google review
New Plymouth Coastal Walkway. The sea, a boundless expanse of deep sapphire, stretched to the horizon, its surface a constant, rhythmic conversation with the shore. The salty tang of the ocean air invigorated the senses, a stark contrast to the gentle sweetness of the lake. The path, a ribbon of concrete, led us to the iconic Te Rewa Rewa Bridge, a structure of breathtaking, skeletal grace. It stood against the sky like the fossilized spine of a mythical creature, its white arches a stunning counterpoint to the wild green landscape and the deep blue sea. Walking across it felt like stepping into a work of art, a bridge between the natural world and human ingenuity.
Anca — Google review
The award-winning Coastal Walkway is a 13.2km path that forms an expansive sea-edge promenade stretching from Pioneer Park at Port Taranaki all the way to the eastern side of Bell Block Beach. Distance: The Coastal Walkway is 13.2km from Port Taranaki to the eastern end side of Bell Block Beach. Sections of the Walkway Port to the Wind Wand: 3.4km Wind Wand to Te Rewa Rewa Bridge: 4.5km Te Rewa Rewa Bridge to Tiromoana Cresent, Bell Block: 4.8km Grade: Easy. The walkway is paved, with some gentle slopes. It is excellent for walking, running, cycling, skateboarding, skating and scooting. Most people would be able to walk 4-6km/hr on the Coastal Walkway. Access points: There are numerous access points along the Walkway with car parking available in several places. Use the Coastal Walkway map to find entrances to the walkway, available car parking and other facilities.

Brooklands Zoo is a family-friendly attraction located in the heart of New Plymouth. It offers complimentary admission and features a diverse range of animals, including monkeys, parrots, reptiles, amphibians, otters, meerkats, and various colorful birds in a walk-through aviary. The zoo is well-maintained and provides an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.
Amazing small zoo! Unexpected good experience! We are lucky to see the pigs getting fed at around 11:30. Lovely animals here and even no need for tickets
Wangweimin X — Google review
I didn’t know it was a free entrance which is very generous! You can donate to the zoo, though! It’s a nice small zoo. Some needed attention with the maintenance, especially where the otters are situated. The animals were sooo cute. Unfortunately, we were too late to meet the Capybara as they moved him to Wellington Zoo. We were so excited to see him. It was nice to be inside the aviary, most of the birds were sleeping perched up on the trees. It was super cute. It’s a nice place to visit with the kids, it’s for all ages though. Hope you can donate when you visit 😊
JC — Google review
Great zoo, and it's free! The birds are amazing and we loved the meerkats. Hope they will bring the capybara back. Cool playground for the kids too. And we saw Ross the cat out the gate on the way back home!

Very nice Zoo with a great view of small to medium animals, plenty of carpark space but does have a time limit

Amazing cute little zoo. Donations recommended but free entry. No cappybara when we went sadly but tons of birds and monkeys
Brooks S — Google review
Possibly the best zoo that I have ever been to. No concerns for the animals. They are clearly loved. Walking through the bird enclosure is a special experience. A great place to bring the family, and set within one of the best parks in the country. Best of all it's free. Full marks to New Plymouth. Every time I visit, I want to move here. Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of New Plymouth, Te Rewa Rewa Bridge is a striking pedestrian and cycling bridge that beautifully marries innovative architecture with engineering prowess. Opened on June 5, 2010, this iconic structure spans 70 meters over the Waiwhakaiho River and serves as a vital link in the award-winning New Plymouth Coastal Walkway.
Great walk and bike ride. We stayed the night freedom camping. Lovely to wake up to ducks on the lake. Unfortunately the mountain wasn't playing ball, next time

Good amount of parking, there are rubbish bins in the parking area. You can swim in the lake or do the coastal walk where this iconic bridge(Te Rewa Rewa bridge) in New Plymouth is where you can also capture another iconic feature of Taranaki(Mt Taranaki/Egmont in the background of the bridges structure on a cloud free day.

If you're looking for an easy walk take the Coastal Walkway to Te Rewa Rewa Bridge. Beautiful views and on a good day the mountain may come out to play.
Michelle W — Google review
The Te Rewa Rewa Bridge in New Plymouth, New Zealand, is an overwhelmingly positive experience for visitors and locals alike. Here's a review summarising its key aspects: Overall Impression: The Te Rewa Rewa Bridge is a truly iconic landmark in New Plymouth. Its distinctive architectural design, often likened to a breaking wave or whale bones, makes it a visually stunning structure. More than just a bridge, it's an integral part of the renowned Coastal Walkway and offers fantastic scenic views, particularly of Mount Taranaki on a clear day. Key Highlights: * Architectural Marvel: The bridge's unique and elegant design is consistently praised. It's considered a masterpiece of engineering that blends seamlessly with the natural environment. * Mount Taranaki Views: One of the most sought-after experiences is capturing a photo of Mount Taranaki framed perfectly by the bridge's arches. This "money shot" is a significant draw, though clouds can sometimes obscure the mountain. * Coastal Walkway Integration: The bridge is a central point of the Coastal Walkway, a 13.2km shared path ideal for walking, cycling, running, and even e-scootering. This makes it easily accessible and part of a larger scenic experience. * Scenic Surroundings: Beyond the bridge itself, the area offers beautiful coastal views, nearby parks for picnicking, and opportunities for birdwatching. * Cultural Significance: The bridge holds cultural importance, leading to sacred land of the Te Ati Awa iwi and Ngati Tawhirikura hapu, and its design was intended to "touch lightly" on the landscape out of respect for those buried there. * Accessibility: The walkway and bridge are generally flat and easy to navigate, making it suitable for all ages and abilities. * Awards: The bridge has received numerous national and international awards for its design and engineering, cementing its status as a remarkable achievement. Things to Consider: * Mount Taranaki Visibility: While the framed view of Mount Taranaki is a highlight, it's subject to weather conditions. Clouds often obscure the mountain, so it's worth checking the forecast if this is your primary objective. * Shared Path Etiquette: The Coastal Walkway is popular with cyclists, and while most are courteous, some users have reported issues with bikes not giving way or being too close, especially for those with hearing difficulties. Bells on bikes are appreciated. * Maintenance Work: Occasionally, maintenance work (like repainting, which was completed in late 2023) might involve scaffolding, temporarily impacting the perfect photo opportunities. * Wind: The exposed coastal location can be windy, so it's advisable to check weather conditions and dress appropriately. Tips for Visitors: * Best Photo Times: Visit at sunrise or sunset for the most dramatic lighting for photographs. * Bring a Zoom Lens: For the iconic framed shot of Mount Taranaki, a zoom lens (e.g., 70-200mm) is recommended to compress the mountain in the center of the bridge. * Comfortable Shoes: If you plan to explore the Coastal Walkway, comfortable walking shoes are a must. * Consider a Picnic: Nearby parks offer a serene setting for a leisurely afternoon. In conclusion, the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge is a must-visit attraction in New Plymouth. Its architectural beauty, stunning views, and integration into the fantastic Coastal Walkway make it a memorable and highly recommended experience for anyone exploring the Taranaki region.

First visit view through to of Mt Taranaki was covered in cloud. Went back next morning to a clear top and steak of cloud across the middle of it. Regardless its beautiful

It was a heavy-rainy day, we could only see the bridge from a park nearby, happen to see some ppl enjoying their fun in the rain.

Always a picturesque sight, very much designed of ribs of a skeleton, was painted last year so looks very bright in the sunshine, also if you stand at the end of the bridge and look though there is a good picture of the mountain

Fitzroy Beach is a popular destination in New Plymouth, known for its surfing, swimming, and dog walking opportunities. It is part of the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway and offers stunning views of Mount Taranaki. The beach is patrolled by the Fitzroy Surf Lifesaving Club during weekends in the summer months. Visitors can enjoy various amenities such as the Beach Kiosk which offers coffee, milkshakes, and fish n chips.
Lifeguards during summer, a very safe environment for a swim or a surf. There's a kiosk selling ice creams, chips and coffee, and there's a playground and pools for the little ones as well. Holiday park right next to the beach! You can reach Fitzroy beach on foot from New Plymouth via the beautiful Coastal Walkway, about 30 minutes

We love this peaceful and beautiful beach. The black sand is warm during summer. There is a good strong breeze that is suitable for surfing. The beach is clean and well maintained, and is an ideal place for long walks with dogs as well. The public bathrooms are clean, and there is ample public parking nearby.

Tūpare, located on the scenic banks of the Waiwhakaiho River in New Zealand, is a stunning garden estate that boasts a diverse collection of native and exotic plants. Visitors can marvel at the breathtaking displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, magnolias, and ferns as they explore the property's winding paths and walkways. The estate also features water features such as ponds and streams that add to its charm.
Loved these gardens. Each section was so beautiful thought of. The information panels spoke to each design and the process of the development. Some of it took years which made me appreciate all the hard work it took to get it looking that nice. It was a very relaxing time.

Really enjoyed visiting these beautifully maintained gardens on our recent trip to New Plymouth. So lovely to walk around all the different areas and we equally enjoyed learning all about the history of the family who originally created this grand home & incredible landscaping feat. All credit to the Taranaki Regional Council for acquiring & maintaining these gardens to preserve this beautiful piece of history. A real gem and a pleasant surprise.

Freedom camping is allowed in the parking lot. Toilets are open at night, less than 200m away downhill into the park. Drinking water is there too. No lights in the park at night so you will need flashlights. We were the only car there, it was very quiet and it felt safe.

Spent a spring afternoon in this beautiful garden. Everything was perfect. I can't recommend Tupare highly enough. The Matthews family and Taranaki District Council have given the public a priceless gift - a lovely, quiet place where you can be still, listen to birdsong, and look at beautifully designed and maintained gardens. Good for the soul! Many thanks to the team of hardworking gardeners who maintain this little slice of paradise.

My husband and I really loved and enjoyed this beautiful property. Majestic and so wonderfully looked after by three staff we heard. We had a great wander around the sublime designs, which leads you onto the next pocket of wonder. We are going to go back and have a quiet relaxed special picnic there. Thank you so much for being open to everyone and free. Appreciated so much.

A wonderful place, well worth visiting. It's built on a steep hillside, which is part of the charm, and bounded by a brisk and lovely river at the bottom. The house and gardens are maintained to the highest standards; there's a lot of love in the original planning and subsequent upkeep. Almost on every level and around every corner there's something different to see, to intrigue you, and to offer pleasure. Thanks TRC.

Ngamotu Beach, located near the port of Taranaki, offers a variety of activities for visitors. The Seaside Market is a must-visit on the first Sunday of every month, featuring local produce and live music. For food enthusiasts, Liardet Street Projects is a hidden gem with food trucks offering authentic street food.
We just came for a lil dip after the markets and it was gorgeous. I’m a sucker for a flat ocean and this was awesome. Great for a chill swim or if the water slide blow up thing is still there you can jump on there too. None of us went on cos we were short on time but it looked cool!

Ngamotu Beach is a beautiful spot that offers stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere. I had a lovely time enjoying the sun and the surf. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the washrooms and toilets over the weekend. They could use more regular maintenance to ensure a better experience for visitors. Overall, it’s a great beach, but improving the facilities would make it even better. I look forward to returning!

I spent an hour here one evening in June, 2023. The sunset was the gift that kept on giving. Particularly pretty, and a whole range of colours. A beautiful setting for photography, taking in the atmosphere, having a fish and chip dinner at the beach, or all three :)

Hard to beat on a sunny day, this is a little gem hidden away by the port, but definitely designed for kids, both big and small.. toilet facilities available, decent sized bins to help them not to be overflowing in summer, and our famous black sand beach to splash around in the surf, look for shells or just sit on a bench or picnic table and take in the sea air..something for everyone, just don't forget a coat or jumper in case the sun goes in, the wind can be bitterly cold on occasion here!! Oh, and don't forget to get your ice cream from the van down here too, lockdown hasn't been kind to these sorts of vendors so it's great to see them back and selling the obligatory ice cream on a seaside trip..lets keep them in business this summer..

Wonderfully safe beach, perfect for kids and older folk. Dogs aren't allowed. Awesome activity if a big ship is being pushed by tug boats. For the first time ever I saw people surfing there after the last big storm. Go for a walk slong the Lee breakwater too, just down the road. There's Catch and Co takeaways down there and Gusto restaurant, an excellent place to dine in. During business hours there's White Sails craft shop and Chaddys Bar and Cafe where you can get a good pizza and eat while looking out over the breakwater and fishing boats. You can fish off the breakwater.

Great place for kids amazing playground the beach is awesome and sheltered so the waves are gentle and little ones. There is a shower and changing room. There is a grass area with benches and there is a sand area for amazing sand castle and picnic play.

Last beach on coastal walkway going south. Ngamotu as the names suggest looks out on islands. It provided kaimoana (seafood) and was a settlement for Maori. In 1841 the first settled from Southern England arrived here. Later oil was found right on the beach. Today with the breakwater in front it provides calm water for wind surfers and swimmers. It has less surf than other beaches. There is a port to the south and lots of information signs. Food is not available . Lots of shade and car parking.

The Wind Wand is a 48-meter tall kinetic sculpture located in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Designed by artist Len Lye and completed in 2000, it has become one of the city's most iconic landmarks. The whimsical red-fibreglass sculpture stands along the Coastal Walkway, offering a captivating sight as it moves with the wind against the backdrop of the Tasman Sea.
Nice walk way,, a must visit
Rini C — Google review
The Wind Wand in New Plymouth is a captivating and iconic landmark that has become synonymous with the city's coastal identity and artistic spirit. Here's a review of this unique sculpture: Overall Impression: The Wind Wand is a mesmerising kinetic sculpture that beautifully interacts with the ever-present Taranaki wind. It's a striking sight on the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway, constantly shifting and swaying, offering a dynamic and ever-changing visual experience. It's more than just a static artwork; it's a living, breathing part of the landscape. Key Highlights: * Kinetic Art in Action: This is its primary appeal. Designed by the internationally renowned New Zealand artist Len Lye, the Wind Wand is a prime example of kinetic sculpture. Its 45-meter (147-foot) red fibreglass tube is incredibly slender (only 20cm in diameter) yet capable of bending up to 20 meters (65 feet) in any direction. Watching it gently sway in a breeze or dramatically lean over in a strong wind is a truly unique and captivating experience. * Iconic Landmark: It has quickly become one of New Plymouth's most recognizable symbols. Its distinctive form and prominent location on the Coastal Walkway make it a focal point for visitors and a point of pride for locals. * Lights Up at Night: At its peak, a sphere contains 1,296 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that emit a soft red glow after dark. This transforms the sculpture into a glowing beacon, creating a different, equally enchanting experience at night. * Integration with Coastal Walkway: The Wind Wand is perfectly situated on the award-winning New Plymouth Coastal Walkway. This means you can easily incorporate a visit into a leisurely walk, run, or bike ride along the stunning coastline, enjoying views of the Tasman Sea and other public artworks. * Artistic Significance: It's a significant posthumous realization of Len Lye's vision. Lye, a pioneer in kinetic sculpture and experimental film, dreamt of such large-scale "wands," and the New Plymouth Wind Wand is a testament to his groundbreaking ideas and the efforts of the Len Lye Foundation. It also complements the nearby Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre, providing a large-scale outdoor example of his work. * Photogenic: Its unique form, especially against the backdrop of the sea or a dramatic Taranaki sky, makes it highly photogenic. Many visitors enjoy capturing its movement and its interaction with the environment. Things to Consider: * Reliance on Wind: While its kinetic nature is its charm, its movement depends on the wind. On a completely still day, it will stand upright, which might be less "dynamic" than some visitors expect. Conversely, on a very windy day, it can lean quite dramatically! * Simplicity of Design: For some, its simplicity might be underwhelming if they are expecting a complex, intricate sculpture. Its beauty lies in its movement and interaction with natural forces. * Maintenance: Being exposed to coastal elements, the Wind Wand does require periodic maintenance. It has been removed for refurbishment a few times since its installation in 1999/2001, which means there might be rare occasions when it's not present. Tips for Visitors: * Visit at Different Times: Experience it during the day to see its movement, and then return at night to see it glow. * Walk the Coastal Walkway: Don't just drive by. Take a stroll along the Coastal Walkway to fully appreciate the Wind Wand in its context and enjoy the other public art and views. * Visit the Len Lye Centre: If you're interested in the artist, a visit to the nearby Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre will provide deeper insight into Len Lye's work and artistic philosophy. * Observe and Contemplate: Take a moment to sit on one of the nearby benches and simply watch its mesmerizing dance. In conclusion, the Wind Wand is a highly recommended stop in New Plymouth. It's a beautiful, thought-provoking, and dynamic piece of public art that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of its location and the genius of Len Lye.

It the easier of the parking meters to pay over the phone wish they upgrade the other so they all were the same. Because we all know we always in a rush to get somewhere on time especially when it could be on the other side of town
Mark N — Google review
Obviously an icon on the coastal walkway, the wind wand sways back & forth on the ocean breezes as the sculptor, Len Lye, wished it to. He had a passion for dance in his work evidently & how that manifests on the breezes with the ocean as a backdrop is artistic in itself. At night the light is an icon of the waterfront
Diana W — Google review
I'm not sure what the wind wand is for, but it was apparently designed by a famous NZ artist (Len Lye). The coastal walkway where the wind wand stands (or sways) is an amazing walk though and definitely worth the visit. This kinetic sculpture just makes things more interesting, I guess 👌😉

The train ride back up the hill is excellent value for money, and there's even Giant chess and giant draughts available for some free fun. The cafe is also a nice place to relax after a busy day out.
Wow what an amazing place! Highly recommend. The museum was awesome, so much history and knowledge and the cars 🔥. I had a coffee and toastie and my partner had a pie, cake and coffee at the Cafe it as yum! We also played Mini golf. It was a sunny day and really busy but so much fun! The course had a lot of hard holes but was so enjoyable. Highly recommend and will be back ❤️

what a hidden gem this place is. I'm not much of a car enthusiast but I could appreciate the collection of Holden cars. memorabilia and history on display. the mini putt was superb by far the most beautifully presented and hardest putt putt ever! we really enjoyed it. thought the luge was bit overpriced but it was a fun ride down. the kids loved the little train ride back up to the top. the gardens here are fabulous the gardening team do a magnificent job. would highly recommend this as a sightseer must-do in New Plymouth

Trying to think of a mini golf course I have played in NZ that I think is better than this course and can’t think of one. It has a fantastic layout, is in excellent condition, makes you think about what line to take and has a fantastic view. If returning to New Plymouth will definitely be back.
Ryan J — Google review
Happened upon this place as we drove to Mount Taranaki and decided to swing by on the way back home. We got lucky and arrived at a quiet time in the afternoon, and ended up bringing the kids on the luge. The staff here were really friendly and paid close attention to safety when operating the luge equipment. Our kids were a bit short to go on their own, so we did the tandem rides for them which ended up costing $45 NZD for 3 turns. Even though the actual run was fairly short, the kids really loved it and I think it was worth the experience for them. We also paid an extra $5 for the train ride to the bottom of the luge run, and I definitely recommend doing this as an add on. Mini golf looked pretty fun too and was the most crowded attraction when we were there, but the kids were pretty tired by then and wanted to head back home. Big thank you to the friendly and polite staff here! Kids had a great time.

did not visit the museum, but enjoyed the mini putt and Luge ride. mini putt was very busy and there was a build up of people waiting at the harder holes. Golf enjoyed by the whole family!! luge ride was great, awesome fun just too short. The train ride back up the hillwas way better than walking! Also Giant chess and giant draughts for some free fun. the cafe was great. This would be a great place for kids birthdays!! overall a great day had by all

A really cool family friendly pool, something for everyone. Inflatables, rope swing, jumping ledge, wave pool, slides. We really liked the waves, would've been good if it'd turned on a bit more often. Pool was incredibly busy the day we visited, so much so that kids were constantly banging into us and I saw several times where kids had their inflatable boats practically on top of other people or kids- bit dangerous given pool is really deep. I don't recommend going on the hydroslide if you're even a couple kg over the weight limit- you'll shoot down it SUPER DUPER FAST!!!

Worst experience. Enrolled and paid $260 for both my children to learn to swim for the term. Waited 20 minutes and no instructor showed up! Then we were told my daughter wasn't even enrolled! Not a good first impression for swimming lessons for me and my children! My children were guttered as they were excited starting swimming lessons. Then i asked for my money back and the receptionist said she can't refund the money!! I have to go through the swim school!! I paid for a service I never recieved!! I won't be supporting this business again.

The facility boasts five engaging rooms with friendly and attentive staff who provide just the right amount of assistance without compromising the challenge.
We had a great time as a group of four, enjoyed that it wasn't all locks and keys and that there was a mix of challenges to make our way out. Lateral thinking required. Would go again, chap letting us in was super excited and looked to love his job.

Interestingly, A friend just asked me about this escape room and I advised I had written a review and absolutely do not recommend.... and then I stumbled across the response to my review claiming we broke things in the room! My group and I did not break anything or damage anything and I presume this 'claim' has been made to divert potential readers away from my forthright and honest review of your business. Strangely these claims of 'damage' were not conveyed while we were there, how convenient

We had a truly fantastic time at Escapinator in New Plymouth. We were only visiting New Plymouth and have been wanting to do an escape room, so we gave this a try. The puzzles were interesting, and it wasn't all about just finding locks and keys. We have heard that the owners made some of the mechanisms themselves, and they are truly talented! They have a lot of time slots for bookings too which helped us since this was the last activity we did before our flight. For our visit, we did the "Train Escape". There were costumes from the year spread around the room which added to the fun haha. Not sure if this would be ideal, but maybe sound effects would be a good addition next time? :D Thank you for the amazing time and the lovely couple that were there to assist us. We hope we get to come back again next time!

Booked in for my son's 11th birthday here, Absolutely had a blast, you definitely need to use your brains and think outside the box to get some clues. We will definitely be attending again to try the other rooms out but I think on easy level 😂 medium level was harder than expected but we got out in the end even with a few hints along the way still was under 60mins 😅. The manager of this place is a very passionate guy for the love of escape rooms to hear his and his wife's story on why they opened it was really awesome to hear keep doing more please.

Biggest waste of $140 I've ever spent. The idea for us of an escape room is you solve as many clues as you can and try to get out, the process is part of the fun and the challenge. This is not what we experienced, we were very clear at the beginning if we want help we will ask for it but we were continually interrupted, the woman who owns this place is an absolute control freak, her and the staff burst into the room multiple times and wouldn't just leave us alone to enjoy the experience. The owner also spoke to us like we were stupid naughty children, so condescending and rude. The entire experience was ruined I wanted to leave well before our time and even when we had 15 mins to go the staff member burst in again and told us we wouldn't solve the room so its too late you may as well quit, regardless of the fact that we might have enjoyed solving a few more things in the room. Absolute opposite of a pleasant experience. The ones we have been to in other areas of NZ actually understand the concept of an escape room, these people think the concept is to tell everyone how to solve everything, interfere and speak down to you like you're an idiot. Customer service skills = zero. And even after we decided to just leave because it was so bad, no offer of a refund was made for the fact the woman and her sidekick totally destroyed the whole experience for us. In addition the riddles and clues are not clever compared to other rooms we have been to, they are pretty juvenile. Do not recommend!!!

The Coastal Walkway Foreshore is a 13.2km scenic route that stretches from the port to Bell Block, offering a picturesque bike ride with whalebone-designed bridges and stunning views of Mount Taranaki. Along the way, visitors can enjoy fish and chips at Fitzroy beach, catch a beautiful sunset, or explore mountain biking opportunities beyond the walkway. The walkway also features shared paths for cyclists and walkers, with some areas offering rocky terrain for crab spotting.
One of the iconic walkway for those looking for spending peaceful family time in the cool breeze and appreciating nature's beauty ,it's like just wow...I love the beauty of new plymouth, must visit again and again

Lovely walkway that stretches along the waterfront from town out to bell block. Perfect for a walk, run, bike, skate, scooter or practically anything. Very scenic along the walkway, with plenty of great photo opportunities. There are lots of beach access points along the way, and many seats to admire the view. Very popular walkway all year round, especially in the summertime.

This walkway is 13km long. We did half of it on the first day of arrival & loved the friendly vibe of it, the sea views & the great sunset. Didn't like the fact it wasn't lit up after dark, & lights from scooters & bikes almost blinded us as we made our way home in the dark.
Diana W — Google review
One of the highlights of New Plymouth. Follows the beautiful rugged coastline to Bell Block. Best on a bike unless you want to kill a whole day walking it’s length. Plenty to see and do on the way. Lots of highlights.

Excellent facility that stretches for several miles. Best done on a bicycle to cover the distance. Wonderfully maintained
Dennis W — Google review
Really nice to walk or bike, amazing ocean views the whole way! Very easy walk or bike, too. For added excitement, do the walk or bike on a really windy day! The waves break right up against the walkway! And, the street art is really nice
Skye P — Google review
8 - 10 km's of spacious walkway. Shared well by pedestrians and cyclists alike. Amazing artworks and views along the way. Fab kids' playgrounds and historic sites too.
Tanya G — Google review
We walked a part of the coastal walkway. From the port to the Aquatic center. 1hr30. The walkway is shared with cyclists so you'll need to stay left. The walk itself is not the most scenic. If you are more adventurous you could walk on the rocks to try to spot some crabs. At the Aquatic centre, you have a little park with huge endemic pōhutukawa trees. Also know as the New Zeeland Christmas tree.

Chaddy's Charters is a long-standing tourist attraction in the Taranaki region, offering various exciting activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and island hopping. Established in 1993, this small business provides visitors with the opportunity to explore the picturesque Sugar Loaf Islands, located near New Plymouth. These volcanic remnants are uninhabited by humans but serve as a popular spot for seals to bask in the sun on the rocks.
Great experience! A little breezy but what’s the west coast without a little wind! Awesome time! Leave some spare clothes in your car because you may get a little damp! Great skipper! Awesome experience and really nice to see some seals too! Thank you Chaddy’s Charters.
Kayla P — Google review
This is a "must do" if you are in New Plymouth. Despite the sea being a bit angry the hour long trip to the islands provided views of the islands themselves, the seal colonies and marine views of New Plymouth with Mount Taranaki in the background. The team from the charter company are clearly very experienced and despite the rough sea very safety conscious. Our son was a bit seasick but that comes with the territory - didn't stop him wolfing down some fish and chips at lunch!

A "must do" when visiting New Plymouth. This unique boat trip is well worth the effort. We had quite a swell on the sea, but Tony navigated the boat so we were as comfortable as possible. Very safety conscious. Reasonably priced. New little seal pups in full view. Local and Maori history well explained. Two of my grandchildren got to have a wee turn "driving" the boat. An hour very well spent - thank you so much. This was our 3rd trip with Chaddys - loved it every time :)
Glenys M — Google review
Had a fab time with Chaddys charters on a weekend away in new Plymouth from Auckland. Great communication about booking and our skipper was brilliant, lots of local info and made sure both sides of the boat got to be close to the action of the bird colony, Seals and natural beauty of the islands. 1 hour out at sea was the perfect amount and nice to have the roof so you’re open to the sea breeze but no sun burn! On our tour was up from a baby to grandparents so perfect for every age. Definitely do when you’re the area!

We were lucky enough to have a beautiful calm day. The commentary was fantastic and such a lovely experience. The highlight of our trip to New Plymouth, thanks so much.

Ringing and finding the best way to book our trip was easy and clear. The trip itself was amazing. Loved the evening trip, and the incoming misty weather added to the ambiance of the trip. History information was great. Sometimes it couldn't be heard if others were talking. Perhaps a written version could be made available to those who missed what was said - I had two hard of hearing teenagers with me. My son enjoyed being able to drive the boat on the way back in. I would recommend this trip to everyone.

In the heart of downtown New Plymouth stands the iconic Clock Tower, a quirky and colorful landmark that captivates both locals and tourists. While it no longer allows visitors to climb to the top, its vibrant night illumination is a sight to behold. The tower's construction work may obstruct some views, but on the flip side, it shares its space with an impressive building reminiscent of Chicago's famous 'Bean.'
Great sight seeing spot, actually there is a bit of construction work, so you can’t see the whole beauty. But the real star is on the other side, amazing building, it looks like a big mirror. That reminds me of the bean in Chicago.

Stairs are closed and no longer allows you to climb up. I read a comment that says there are toys playing out the window every hour for 5 minutes but that’s a mixed up comment. No toys playing like towers in Europe. The night lit up is quite stunning to see.

Great place to vist if you're a tourist and have never seen a clock tower.. just be careful if it's a sunny day because you may get blinded by the museum. You might be able to go to the top of it but last time I tried it was locked. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lovely walk, good running track to loop a few times as it has good ankle friendly ground. Another lovely spot across the bridge perfect for some river side yoga/meditation that is tucked away (Only sounds are the breeze in the trees and trickling water). A few nice spots for a picnic as well.

An absolutely beautiful place. We went on a day trip today and decided to stop here with our lunch. It is a great way to spend time with the fam and nature as well. Especially in this day and age we get locked in our rooms and office that were never get to spend time with mother nature. If you have a spare hour I definitely recommend you come here for a quick break from life and disconnect with everything else. Beautiful scenery and greenery. Amazing place if nature amazes you and so much vegetation and nature around this place. Fun Ho! Toys/Inglewood Info Centre is a treasure trove of toys that offers an epic collection showcasing the manufacturing processes and history behind these nostalgic playthings. While some displays may be considered old, they celebrate the charm of vintage toys, providing insight into their significance for Inglewood. Visitors can enjoy interactive elements such as pushing display buttons to see them move, making it a fun experience for children and adults alike.
While some of the displays would be considered "old", it's the celebration of old toys, so I think it's brilliant. Very nostalgic, and offers a good insight into the history and what it meant for Inglewood. Our children had a fun time with pushing the display buttons and having them move. Even at six and four at the time of our visit, they appreciated the age of the toys and how their Grandparents and older family would have played with them.

Happy to support this team though so it can stay open. $6 per adult I believe and $15-20 for families I think (unless a member) no eftpos so bring cash or you’ll need to download an app and pay through that which did take a little while and was awkward so easier to just have cash!

Extremely dissappointed as a volunteer for WOMAD. I volunteer for The TSB Showplace & enjoy giving back to the local community. I registered to help at WOMAD in March, was contacted and asked if I could be an Angel. I payed the 3 day festival ticket price and was informed that this would be refunded in full. I contacted site supervisor on 21 March with a complaint on how I was treated on my 1st night of volunteering. Due to this I did not do my shifts on the Saturday & Sunday. I did not receive a reply to my complaint, nor any notification from TAFS that I would NOT be refunded for my ticket. Since then I have sent several emails, requesting my refund, asking that someone from Management contact me, this hasn't happened. I have had correspondence with someone in administration, who informed me, I would not receive a refund. I have asked twice for a copy of the T&C's for volunteers, which I am yet to receive, except for a highlighted paragraph, which was emailed to me on June 1st. After experiencing a bullying situation whilst volunteering, the lack of communication, concern or empathy has been disgraceful. I have been ignored. I'm wondering who else has experienced this. My next step is taking this to Fair Go, maybe then someone from TAFS will respond with a viable reason Darlene Luke.

The concept is a bit weird: pay money to be able to escape within an hour! However, these are SUCH terrific experiences! Each room has a backstory / theme. It is explained and described. Then the group is let loose to work out the puzzles, to open doors, to find clues, to solve tricks, and finally get free! These rooms help to build communities and teams. The mental agility is exhilarating! Staff in New Plymouth are enthusiastic, warm, friendly, energetic, and careful. Each puzzle is built with safety in mind. Each group is closely watched - for safety reasons - and also to offer hints if/when the group appears confused. A photo of each group is presented as a momento. Competition between groups is available and viable. As entertainment, it is cognitive and postmodern. I'll be back.

Really want to thank Dana and the team. First time to New Plymouth and first escape room. Dana was amazing, not only was she a great host, she was also so kind as to have a chat about our plans and was happy to offer recommendations for other activities and places to eat etc which we took her up on (all her suggestions were great haha). We did the Train room, was great to learn a bit of history prior and the room itself was amazing. Challenging puzzles but super fun and staff were so helpful when needed. This definitely exceeded my expectations and can't wait to come back and do more rooms. Highly recommend.

This is is so much fun. Great for families or with friends. You can choose the level of difficulty. We did it with our 5, 7 and 11 year old kids. We've been there twice for birthdays. Highly recommended for puzzle solvers or just something different and fun. The staff are very helpful. Give it a go

What an awesome experience my family had today! :) Especially, my 7 year-old boy loved it. 3 of us worked very hard to solve the secrets and time flew. Not only the physical settings in the rooms but also the super-kind and helpful staffs are the merits of this place. Thank you so much for providing such a good time there. :)

Escape Masters New Plymouth was fantastic. Hubby and I had a great time and were super impressed. Great facility, friendly and helpful staff and the room delivered on challenge, unexpected surprises and being loads of fun. We did the train caper and a easy level and was just right for us. Highly recommend and will be back next time we visit but with our kids.

We had an amazing time in the train room. Dana and Lance are great story tellers and such friendly hosts. Awesome feeling of accomplishment solving all the puzzles. Wonderful way to spend an hour and best of all we escaped!

We had a fantastic experience at the Escape Masters this morning. I took my husband and his brother there for my husband’s birthday as a surprise. Dana greeted us with a birthday song! The escape room itself was fun and challenging. The puzzles were very interesting and well thought out. Can’t wait to go back with more people! Thanks so much Lance and Dana for a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend Escape Masters to anyone wanting a fun activity to do with family or friends!

My 2 friends and I had an amazing time today for my 21st. They quickly got the room set up and we were off. The staff were kind and friendly and put up with me and my friends being goofballs (even though those maps though me off) Definitely going to be back!

Such an awesome activity! We did the cabin fever room and really enjoyed it. Host was great. We will definitely go back to complete the second room.

We did team building here. The host was very good!! Had a lot of fun and was very well set up. Definitely a great activity to do with your team.

It was so hot the day I went but once I was inside it was so nice and cool. I got to see the room Save joe in action. A great place to take the kids or compete against. Would love to go again sometime.
Vocktile — Google review
Absolutely fantastic set up! Can't wait to do the new rooms, we had a blast doing this as a work team building event, highly recommend!

I went with a group of colleges and we had the best time! I will be back very soon to do the other room. Highly recommend!

Did the Save Joe room and really enjoyed it. A couple of leaps of logic but well designed and good fun.
Anthony S — Google review
The Saving Joe room was just confusing overall. Fun experience though. I found it a little rushed.

Kidz Korner is a fantastic place for kids' parties and family outings. The facility is well-maintained with new and clean play equipment, flooring, and bathrooms. There are various food options available, including hot and delicious chips. Visitors can also bring their own cake and goodie bags for parties. The staff is friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone. With fun play areas suitable for all ages, it offers great value for money.
Sad to see their star rating is not 5. I visited this place more than 5times and I saw lots of careless mothers(who just let little kids here and there without supervision at all). I saw the staff who was wearing glasses takes care of customer baby while mother was chatting with her friends. This is not first time that this amazing staff helps and smile to young little kids! This place is big play ground and clean and some food you can choose. My 2 little girl really loves this place :) Thank you for all the staffs and see you soon guys!
Helena V — Google review
Small but great for a rainy day kids indoor playland. Grip socks are a must, you can purchase them at this place. There's a small cafe onsite offering food and drinks. Ample parking onsite. Weekday 3-5pm has after school specials with 6 dollars discounts for school aged kids.
S S — Google review
Staff are often unbelievably rude not believing my child has grip socks on when she does. Edited to add…She didn’t ask to see her socks, she asked us to leave Owner followed us out to my car to confront me about my review to which I told her about being asked to leave and that I would happily have showed grips. Owner then returned inside to loudly complain about me in front of my friends who were still there. Very unprofessional, not sure what the rest of your reply is pertaining to?

We had my son's 4th birthday party at Kidz Corner. Everyone had such a great time. I like that Kidz Corner is really nice and clean, everything is new and fresh, from the flooring, to the bathrooms, and of course the play equipment. We got the cheapest option, which was three types of food, plus drinks, chips, and popcorn. The chips were nice and hot 10/10. All the food was good. We were allowed to take our own cake and goodie bags. The team at Kidz Corner were really helpful and it was such a bonus to not need to stress about the party beforehand, and unlike other parties I've thrown, the guests didn't destroy my house LOL.

Fantastic play area, great for kids parties, lovely team, clean facilities. Kids always love it
Hannah H — Google review
It was a good indoor activity for kids. We spent 3 hours with 3 yr n 9yr old kids. Their trampoline n zip line ninja was good
