Daxi Old Street, located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, is a charming historic district that provides a window into traditional Taiwanese culture. The street is lined with well-preserved buildings dating back to the late 19th century Japanese rule over Taiwan. Visitors can explore specialty shops, cafes, and stalls offering traditional foods and local handicrafts. Notable attractions in the area include Lee Teng-fan's Ancient Residence and Daxi Wude Hall.
Pretty laid back place with tons of food. If you love cultural things and old buildings, worth to drop by. It is very outskirt and the tourist bus timing is pretty off from the published schedule. Check the local website instead (dun rely on google)
Kee C — Google review
It's a street with old looking architecture. The district is known for their tofu products such as Douhua (silken tofu desert) and braised tofu. I arrived here around 7AM and most stalls are closed, they open around 9AM onwards.
Marc J — Google review
Very unique culturally immersive district. We only visited Taipei for one day and came to this district via Uber. We are Americans. The food, people, and architecture was a great experience for the short time we were there.
Jeffrey H — Google review
Daxi has done a great job preserving the facades and old buildings. Definitely worth a visit for the small town atmosphere.

Come to see this old street with food and things you can buy. The scenery is nice too.

The street is still asleep before 11am. Lots of walking to see other views. It is nice and quiet.

We visited Daxi old street and had a great time walking around looking at the stores! But what stood out even more were the street performers. They had incredible energy and aura, clearly loving every moment of singing and performing for visitors. I truly hope they make it big.

If you're seeking a delightful family adventure, look no further than the Window on World Theme Park. This enchanting destination features over 130 meticulously crafted models of iconic global landmarks at a 1/25 scale, making it a miniature marvel to explore. Beyond the impressive replicas, visitors can enjoy thrilling rides and an exciting water park that opens during the summer months of July and August. While the rides may not be brand new, they still offer plenty of fun for both kids and adults alike.
Even though it's a Sunday, we needn't line up for long to play on the amusement park facilities. I really loved that.
Mena A — Google review
A fun place to bring your kids. Agree with many other reviews. The miniature world is a bit dated but it’s still appreciated, especially with the hot climate. Had no idea there was an actual amusement park inside where you have to take a train across. All the rides are free! They also have little kids rides (90cm to 110cm). Be warned, the water rides get you drenched (Requiring change of clothes drenched). You can buy a plastic rain cover set for 50NT. Didn’t try the food.
Iku Y — Google review
One park, two atmospheres. This theme consists of actually two different locations. One is their original park with miniature buildings, trains, yards and more. Main focus is Taiwan, Japan and China. Very well designed park with small trees like Japanese park. Also some moving elements like trains and airplanes. Although outdated, great to see! Then you can take the train to the other section of the park that is completely different. Walking to this section is another option when the queue is too long for the train. Takes about 15 minutes by foot. The second section is more like a Taiwan theme park with roller coasters, many slot machines, water park, and vendor selling lots of snacks. No clear focus on the miniatures world. It also have two small parks to introduce some European and American buildings, but it is clear to me that they spend significant less effort to make this stand out. No moving elements and less detail to the park itself. Don't get me wrong, still nice to walk around, but different feeling compared to first section of the park. What stood out that there were so many commercials from PEPSI, would be better to brand it to Window on Pepsi :). The branding changed btw some years ago to Window on World, but that has not everywhere (such as at the entrance) been updated. So in general, yes I enjoyed the park but the park clearly lacks focus: either focus on standard theme park or on miniature zed world. Price recommendation: 350 twd max.

This is a place that I have visited as a child more than 30 years ago and it was a nice nostalgic place to bring my kids to now. It was fun to explore the miniature worlds and find places I had seen when I was a child, not much has changed in a good way! Then we spent majority of the time since it was hot and humid at the water park area and indoor play area (playground, merry go round and dining). The water park was pretty vast and had many areas of play for different ages of kids. As foreign visitors, we did not know prior to going but it is required to wear swim caps so stock up before you go or you can purchase at their gift shop as well which we did for about $70NT - $120NT. There was plenty to keep small ones occupied for the day and they did not want to leave, great place for some water play in the hot humid summer. Also they have stroller rentals for reasonable prices which made the visit easier with small ones and toddlers. Highlights were the big water ride and train ride to the water park. We went on a summer week day which was not too crowded at all. Also, it’s not super easy to get to by public transportation, we took car service/taxi to get there.

充滿歡樂回憶的地方~~ We had such a wonderful time visiting the Miniature World theme park! My child was absolutely thrilled exploring all the beautifully detailed scenes, each one carefully designed and full of imagination. Since our visit was during the Halloween season, the park was decorated with festive pumpkins, lights, and spooky yet fun displays, adding an extra layer of excitement. It was a magical experience that created so many joyful memories for our family, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again.
Jeff Y — Google review
An amazingly adorable place to visit! During my visit, there was a huge promotion for the ticket, made the visit even more worth it! If you have kids, definitely bring them over here. Lots of attractions to see and to experience. During summer time is better because they open their water park on July and August only. Keep in mind during these months the park can be crowded even on weekdays, and the sun shines so bright! So don't forget to pack water, sunscreen, and wear jackets if needed. Also don't forget to bring swimsuit and umbrella as well. The employees all are very friendly and cheerful, really recommended for a family visit, or even a date!

This theme park is amazing. It has operated for more than 20 years, but the miniatures, indoor/outdoor games are still managed very well. I like their miniatures of collections, they are awesome! It's also a nice place to play the bumped car, water coaster 🎢🌊

The Daxi Tea Factory is a historic attraction that dates back to the 1920s and provides tours, tastings, and a shop selling tea-related products. Situated in an area with numerous other tourist destinations, visitors must drive to the factory and pay a NT$100 per person entrance fee. The entrance hall showcases various tea-related products on shelves, while the processing side of the display features photos, history, and old machines for visitors to explore.
If you like to have the best memory here, you need take the free tour for this tea factory. You can enjoying the information for the past and present from the tour guide, she (黃莉敏) is so professional. You need take time to enjoying
Andy W — Google review
There are a lot of attraction in the region. One needs to drive to the old tea processing factory. It costs NT$100 per person entrance fee. It is nicely display with shelfs of tea related products at the entrance hall. One then enters the processing side of the display with photos, history, and old machines. One could also watch a short video of the place. We visited the place in the last day of 2020, a bit cold and drizzling afternoon, not too many visitors. The place was quit and nice to walk around. The entrance fee could also be used to purchase cash equivalent of merchandise. It is a nice place to visit.
C. C — Google review
A quiet place to understand the history of the tea factory, also the culture behind. Very interesting and vintage vibe. Nice to get some IG photos here. Must be careful, there are many small black mosquitoes during summer time!
Doris C — Google review
If you have never visited the tea factory, you would probably miss to make a turn into the lane. Admission tickets can be used as vouchers in the shops inside. It is a great place to feel the magic of light and time. I must say, the tea egg in the cafe really amazed me. Strongly recommended!
Phil C — Google review
I wouldn't particularly recommend a visit to this tea factory. While it does offer some insights into tea-making processes and a glimpse into the history, along with a chance to view the old machinery, the 150 NTD (~5 USD) ticket price feels somewhat excessive. The factory doesn't offer an extensive array of things to explore or see. If you're eager to delve deeper into the world of tea, I'd strongly suggest considering the one near Sun Moon Lake (free entrance); it offers a far more enriching experience. As for the ticket, they do allow you to redeem 100 NTD for purchasing souvenirs, but even with this benefit, I still find it somewhat overpriced, given the rates of the souvenirs available.
Monica Y — Google review
Admission is 100NTD but you can use it towards any purchase inside the factory. It’s a pretty cool and Instagram-worthy tea factory. There are a lot of tea selections if you’re into that. It gets pretty packed on the weekends and parking is very limited.
C — Google review
It's basically a museum... A little part of Darjeeling in Taiwan...😁 #teafactory Fun fact: the architectural style of the factory is actually based on the tea factories of Darjeeling and a mixture of Japanese and Taiwanese traditions... Ticket price is 100ntd, which includes a 100ntd cash voucher that can be used to purchase tea or other gift items. A nice place to know about the tea culture and traditions in Taiwan..good place to visit for a short weekend trip #taiwan #daxi #tea #Darjeeling #hometown

Cihu Mausoleum, located in Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, is a serene lakeside resting place for Chiang Kai-shek. The mausoleum features an hourly changing-of-the-guard ceremony and is surrounded by a bronze statue park housing statues removed from all over Taiwan due to public protest. It offers visitors the opportunity to delve into Taiwanese history during the KMT Chiang Kai-shek era.
One of the most special spots which everyone need to visit in Taiwan. it combines beautiful Nature of Taiwan togethet with eclectic not always easy understandable history of Taiwan(previously Formosa) Chiang Kaishek Mausoleum (which is one of his residences before) and big park with lake surrounding it plus historical grimace of Chiangs Cult Statues which were brought here after democratization of Taiwan adds more uniqueness to this worth-visit place. its a-must visit place on all of my taiwan private tours.
Andrew E — Google review
Once accessible, this was the dignified resting place of Chiang Kai-shek, the great statesman who pivoted China onto the UN Security Council and steered an ancient nation away from a century of humiliation. Sadly, senseless vandalism has forced the closure of the mausoleum's interior to the public.

Archie B — Google review
This is a combination garden park and memorial to Chiang-kai Shek. The garden has running stream and pond (inhabited by black & white geese). Chiang’s mausoleum is also here. There are regularly scheduled changing of the guards. There are many statues of Chiang and a few statues of Sun Yat-sen. My friend told me the statutes of both Sun (father of the Republic of China) and Chiang were moved here because most Taiwanese did not want these statues in their local cities, towns, schools, … I thought Sun and the Nationalists represented China’s attempt to create representative government with a republican structure. But that is not how the Taiwanese people see it. One thing is true. Taiwan has representative government now which means something was accomplished. The Nationalists were voted out. Another political party was voted in. On mainland China no one got a vote. As an American I think government by the people, for the people, & of the people is very difficult. But the other choice is a step backward. The people of Europe fought from 1789 to 1945 to achieve government of the people. The road was bloody, but freedom is not free. 1-2 countries in Far East Asia have achieved democracy. At least I hope so.
Duck B — Google review
A beautiful place to walk and enjoy the scenery. A must destination for those who have studied the history of WW 2. I came to pay my respects to this interesting and incredible man 🙏
Paul H — Google review
Beautiful tribute to the first President of Taiwan. Sad we weren't able to pay respect to Chiang Kai-Shek. The mausoleum was sealed off from public view due to an irate national who desecrated the memorial on February 28, 2018. No matter the political views, should not act out on a founders grave site. That's low.

Mausoleum with history of Taiwan and beautiful greenish surrounding. Mausoleum is well connected to public transportation from Taoyuan station. Mausoleum has beautiful ponds with lots of duck and surrounded by beautiful art works and mountains. Guard changing activity is the one of attraction of the park.

Xiaowulai Skywalk is a picturesque destination featuring a tempered glass platform that allows visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the Xiao Wulai Waterfall. The bridge sits atop the waterfall, offering an unobstructed panoramic view of the natural wonder. Additionally, there is a wooden hanging bridge with equally stunning scenery that is longer than the glass bridge.
This is a fantastic place to visit and not too far from Taipei. The sound of the water all around creates a truly magical atmosphere. Parking can be a challenge we found a spot at the top of the street and walked down. Since the entire area is hilly, be prepared for a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes. Those with mobility issues can still visit, but it’s best to take it slow and be cautious. Unfortunately, it’s not wheelchair accessible. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The skywalk offers an amazing view and is easy to access, while the rope bridge adds a fun and slightly wobbly adventure!
Geoff H — Google review
Enjoyed the sound of the waterfalls - beautiful place to visit. Only very few people were there, basically had the place to myself. The Skywalk is part of a park with more waterfalls and bridges. Very relaxing and fun to walk through it.

Virgilio T — Google review
A very family friendly experience (as long as you don’t have a fear of heights). The water flows were quite small when we visited and so none of the waterfalls were at their most spectacular. The suspension bridge is well anchored and solidly constructed. There were few people when we visited so we could linger and enjoy the views. The skywalk is a bit of an anticlimax but is no doubt more dramatic after rain. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Theo C — Google review
Soothing and easy nature walk with several hanging suspension bridges. 50 ntd per ticket. Few cafes and drinks are available in the park. Water park is sometimes closed
Albert Y — Google review
Good place for a one day hike. The trail is simple and the scenery is good. The glass sky walk is a must visit. But, if went during poplar hours, it might have a long line up. There are buses going from city directly to this place, it's very convenient for non driving tourists. If drive a car, the parking is very limited, around 30 spaces, with some private ones.

Amazing day trip from Taipei (easy 1.5h drive). The skywalk and the suspension & rope bridges, and little walking tracks were awesome. Great views, lovely waterfalls and beautiful way to enjoy some nature. Highly recommend.

Sanmin Bat Cave, located in Fushin Town, is a picturesque crescent-shaped cave that used to be a shelter for bats. Although bats are rarely seen now, the cave still offers a unique amphitheatre-like interior and peculiar rock formations. Visitors can enjoy the low-key waterfall and small pool inside the cave. It's recommended to visit after rain for a more serene experience with fewer people around.
[12.05.24] VIsited Sandman Bat Cave, and it was breathtaking. The cave's natural beauty combined with lovely weather made the place look ethereal. The sound of the waterfall added to the memorable experience.

J — Google review
I recently visited the Sanmin Bat Cave that left me with mixed feelings. The cave itself was impressive, with stunning geological features that were truly awe-inspiring. However, my experience was dampened by a few factors that made the trip less than perfect. Firstly, parking near the entrance was limited to just 10 spots, which meant that finding a spot was a real challenge. Additionally, the fee for parking was taken by an elderly man in a yellow vest, which was a bit confusing at first. However, the fee was reasonable at 100 NT for the entire stay. When I retuneded later in the day the parking attendant was not easily found and there were plenty of open spaces. One major drawback of the cave was the absence of bats. This was likely due to excessive tourism, which disrupted the local ecology. As a result, the cave felt a bit lifeless and lacked the natural ambiance that I had been hoping for. On the other hand, the accessible parts of the cave were still enchanting, especially for children and Instagram influencers. A steady stream of water sprinkled from the top of the cave to the viewing platform, creating a picturesque and serene atmosphere. One downside to visiting this attraction was the crowds. Especially on public holidays, the place was teeming with visitors, which made it hard to fully appreciate the cave's beauty. If you do decide to visit, be prepared to face a lot of people and take your time to navigate through the crowds. Overall, while the cave itself was impressive, the other factors detracted from the experience. If you're a fan of geological wonders or looking for a fun day out with your family, this attraction may be worth checking out. However, be prepared for the limited parking, absence of bats, and the crowds.

Yin Hsi East Gate, also known as Yingximen, is a well-preserved 2-tiered city gate dating back to the Qing Dynasty. This historic monument stands on a granite base with an arch and offers visitors a glimpse into centuries-old architectural brilliance. It holds great historical significance for Hsinchu, being the only gate standing after the Japanese era.
This gate is such a cool place to see. It comes alive at night. There were people practicing dance moves, bike tricks, and drawing. It’s such a fun place to just hang out.

Nice place to look around briefly. There's an underpass from the river nearby (don't try to cross the roundabout!!). Cool piece of history in the middle of the city. The rivers nearby are also really nice. If your bus is quite late (it probably is let's be real) come check it out!
Avo C — Google review
A nice place to drop by to look around and take photo.

Nice historical place. Best to see it in the evening.
Jay K — Google review
Nice place to drop by if you're nearby. There is a large underpass where teenagers practice dancing at night, complete with sockets for public use. You can cross the massive roundabout using the underpass instead of having to battle the cars and scooters. A neat historic monument to check out.

Enjoyed watching the sunset near the east gate. Also enjoyed the fashion district and claw machines places.

I like this place, from the photo there's a cheap steak house just above the Giordano store. So many food to choose from, my only complaint is that it has so small room and few table good for couple, and 4-6 group of people. During peak hours you have to wait because theres a long qeue.

Xinbeitou is a stunning area known for its hot springs and is perfect for leisurely walks. The route from the MRT station to Thermal Valley takes you through a charming park, past a steaming hot stream, and by interesting landmarks like the hot spring museum. Traveling to Xinbeitou via the branch train or YouBike from Beitou station offers safe and efficient options.
Xinbeitou MRT Station is the gateway to the beautiful Beitou resort area, serving as the only station dedicated to this picturesque region. It connects travelers to the main Beitou Station, providing easy access for those looking to explore the hot springs and attractions of Beitou while also linking to Taipei city. While the station itself is small, it often feels bustling with activity, especially on weekends and holidays. This crowd gives it a lively atmosphere, and it's clear that many people appreciate the convenient shuttle service it offers. Overall, Xinbeitou MRT Station is a vital hub for those visiting the area, making it easy to transition between the serene surroundings of Beitou and the vibrant energy of Taipei city. If you're planning a visit, be prepared for a bit of a wait during peak times, but the journey is well worth it!
Genta — Google review
The Xinbeitou MRT station provides convenient access to the area's renowned hot springs and Thermal Valley. Visitors should note that attractions like the Thermal Valley typically close at 5:00 PM and are also closed on Mondays. It is advisable to plan your visit accordingly to ensure you have enough time. On my return trip, I was delighted to see the popular Taipei mascot, Bravo the Bear, inside the train—a charming detail that added to the experience. Overall, Xinbeitou is a must-visit destination, offering a rewarding opportunity to witness the powerful natural forces at work. The geothermal landscape is a beautiful testament to God's almighty power, and it brought this verse to mind: Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you."

The Beto transit line was very cool they did a great job capturing the history and culture of the place it’s fascinating that they talk a little about the original tribes of the area. And the culture of soaking and enjoying the Hot Springs. It’s a very cool train the one we rode on was themed and had soaking tubs and lots of nature incorporated in the imagery. But there are some trains that do not have this in our normal 🚂

好漂亮的捷運站,不但很方便也是很乾淨!又好看的藝術!This station is huge, love it.. Good shops around too... The river has lot hotsprings nearby, I recomment the public one, totally cheap and worth it. This is a romantic place for a walk...

The branch train is really very safe to ride, because, you definitely can arrive faster with YouBike ride from Beitou station. Nonetheless, since I have never rode this branch line before, I decided to go with it. When it arrived, the outside looked pretty dark, so the inside. The floor was dark red. But it was decorated significantly, there were leaflets, offered in a few languages. You need time to stroll, to see, and to read. That's why it rolled so slowly.

Rakuten Taoyuan Baseball Stadium, situated in Zhongli's Qingpu Special District at the border of Taoyuan City's Zhongli and Dayuan Districts, is a favorite among away fans. The stadium offers easy access from Taipei via the A19 station of the AirPort Express/Taoyuan MRT. Visitors can enjoy various dining options throughout the game and take advantage of nearby amenities like a 7 Eleven for refreshments.
Came here for the baseball game between the home team - Rakuten Monkeys vs Fubon Guardian. It has merchandise shops that selling the home team merchandise and lots of food stalls available for fans to purchase their dinner for eating and watching the games at the same time. Love the atmosphere of the fans and crowds. Will visit again.
Hong T — Google review
This is my least favorite road venue of the five opposing venues (plus Taipei Dome). The amount of the space in the concourse is simply too narrow. Promotions aren't explained clearly and if you are in rows from 14 to about 20, your view of the stage is obstructed. Taoyuan, you can do better than this. About the best part of the experience is the host fans, but that is true at all road venues. Also has good food, so the score gets a bit of a bump up for that.

Back again for another Mayday (五月天) concert. Despite the interior looking old, the stadium design was great for the concert. It's also close to Taoyuan Sports Park Station and Global Mall Taoyuan.

Conveniently located within walking distance of the A19 station of the AirPort Express / Taoyuan MRT. The stadium is clean and modern, with various dining options available during the entire game. The home field atmosphere is excellent too! As someone who traveled from abroad and finally had the chance to watch a Rakuten Monkeys’ home game in person, I had no issue navigating through the public transportation from Taipei to Taoyuan.

Birthday wish list and one of the buckets listed, watched a baseball game in Taiwan Very happy and blessed be able to watch my first baseball game in Taiwan with family What an exciting experience, doing the home team batting, the fans does not stop cheering, dancing, they will keep dancing with the cheerleaders until all three outs, unbelievable experience So much fun. High energy! Players have their own songs and cheer routines, the amazing part was the fans even little kids cheered enthusiastically with the routines and only sat when the opposing team was batting. It’s quite a experience for all of us.

Beitou Park is a picturesque area known for its natural attractions, including hot springs, wetlands, and national parks. Visitors can enjoy a local experience by soaking their feet in the free hot springs alongside locals. A short walk from the park leads to Hell Valley, where extremely hot water bubbles up from the ground.
Born in 1913, Beitou Park is a venerable sanctuary, a storied landscape that has cradled the joys and quiet moments of countless souls for over a hundred years as the island's inaugural hot spring park. On the day I wandered its paths, it presented a beautiful tableau of existence: the gleeful energy of children weaving around wise elders, the tender cadence of lovers sauntering through, and the appreciative gazes of tourists drinking in the beauty of ancient trees and vibrant flora. It led me to reflect on its nocturnal charm – what a wonderfully secure and tranquil setting it must be for heartfelt contemplation, a timeless stage where life's simple, profound moments continue to play out.
Mansa S — Google review
Nice park, wish it wasn't so hot so that we couldn't really enjoy the park. We only walked through the park quickly to go to the library as it was so hot. But it is beautiful with several nice features and lots of trees. You can see that there's also a hot springs museum in the park, but it wasn't open the day we were in town, so we couldn't go. Even the park bathrooms across from the library were built with the Japanese style architecture that's very appealing, the same as the library. We also liked all the trees, plants, the pond with the lotus flowers, and even the insects we saw there.

Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine and Cultural Park is a must-visit spot with its well-preserved Shinto style architecture. The shrine offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to witness the guard-changing ceremony and write wishes on wooden plaques. Although parking can be challenging, it's worth the visit as part of a day trip to Taoyuan. Additionally, nearby attractions like the Confucius temple and Hutou mountain make for a perfect day tour.
I went on Friday at 4pm. I knew the place closes at 6pm so I tried to get there as soon as possible, it is a little bit far from where I live. When I got there I was able to try the matcha pudding from one of the shops in there, it was delicious. However the shop closes at 5pm, so be sure to get there before that time. Also, the main place of the park closes at 5pm, I saw many people didn't know this since we would all think it closes at 6pm right? Many people couldn't see the main place. Small park but beautiful.

A very cool place to visit in Taoyuan, the japanese atmosphere the place has is really unique, and the temple itself is an experience as well. During my visit on the weekend, they have a small bazaar that sells a lot of interesting items, and a good onigiri place too. They also sell a tofu pudding that’s really refreshing during the hot summer days.

Im so amazed in this place in the first i didnt expect anything in this place because this is not trending but when i been there yesterday its historical and we enjoy staying there even though its a little things to do there but the place is so clean will maintain and you can feel the culture of japan.

An interesting place to visit as it is one of the best kept Shinto style shrines outside of Japan. The architecture is magnificent and the buildings neatly restored. You can write wishes (especially couples) on little pieces of wood and hang then to ensure they come true 😉. Parking is a challenge so prepare to walk a bit. As it is not a very big place, it can become crowded quickly. A nice location to include in a day trip to Taoyuan.

Wonderful place for kids to have close interaction with cute animals. It is a big place to walk around. There is a Japanese theme garden, with a lake. There is also a garden for picnic. There are rabbits, raccoons, alpacas, capybara, goats, deer, kangaroos, chicks, ducks, pheasants, cows, pigs, pony, donkey, and peacocks. One of the shows was the animal race, pigs race and goats race, we thoroughly enjoyed that.

Public transportation is estimated every 40-50mins for bus722. There are 2 engagements slot, one in the Morning (10am) and one in the afternoon (3pm). Afternoon may be a little hot for toddlers. If traveling without kids, recommend to arrive around 1pm. Tickets 🎫 does not include the food snacks, will need to pay NT50 per pax. After which you will go to a small confine space to get up close to animals, followed by a special race event of pigs/goat where lucky winner able to get a free ice cream. Few reptiles to view before entering the confined space. After that can take a rest and enjoy the cafeteria before playing the race event. All can be done within 2 to 3 hours. There is alot of other space to explore in the farm but without animals interaction. You may want to rent ATV to travel around the farm if you like.

Quite a nice ranch to visit. The highlight for us with young kids was that they were able to feed the animals, like capybaras, goats, alpacas, etc. Happy to go in during the milking time too at 3pm which was great!

Baishajia Lighthouse, a round structure dating back to 1901, is nestled in a serene park setting and serves as a picturesque stop for cyclists and photographers. Originally constructed by the Japanese, this historical landmark has been an integral part of Taoyuan's history. While it may be closed for reconstruction until August 23, 2021, visitors can still enjoy its pleasant surroundings and well-maintained park.
Really great place to visit, specially for tourist, which is far away from the city centre (45mins drive though the highway) I would have felt happy if the lighthouse was operational or would have given permission to go up and see the sea view...
Yeshwant R — Google review
It's worth a visit if you're in the area, but we weren't able to climb up to the lighthouse to enjoy the view, which should be nice with the coast so close. Nevertheless, the park around is quiet and enjoyable. There are public toilets. It seems possible to reach the beach on foot, but you have to pass under the 61 expressway.
Martin M — Google review
The bridge on the east side is closed, but the area is accessible by car from the west with parking for 10 or so vehicles. Note that the road coming from the north has a very narrow section. There are public toilets and you can take a short walk in the area around the lighthouse with signage explaining some of the background. Worth a stop if it's on your way.
J R — Google review
Very nice. Worth visiting if you close by. Pleasant surroundings with a well laid out park. Proper toilet facilities too. And the seashore is just a minute walk. You can see the small Kuanyin river joining the sea We couldn't climb up the Light house as it was closed. The views around are still good

Right off the West Coast Expressway 61 (and Bike Island Route 1-1), its easy to ride past without spotting it if you're not paying attention. Its closed on Mondays (the day I visited) but its still possible to get close enough to take some nice photos.

It is under reconstruction till 23rd August 2021 but it is well connected to public transportation, cleaned and greenish surroundings, historical place, and beautiful views from the lighthouse. On the way to the beach.

Taoyuan Arena is a modern facility in the city, known for its innovative membrane cable suspension roof structure that resembles a bike wheel. This architectural marvel reflects Taiwan's dedication to blending beauty with functionality. Visitors have enjoyed various events at the arena, from music concerts featuring renowned artists like Ed Sheeran to sports leagues like P.League. Despite being slightly dated, the arena offers great acoustics and can accommodate large audiences.
It's a sport field that hold sport event and open for public. You can jog in the morning or evening here. It also provide drinkable water dispenser but be sure to bring your own tumblr.

I came here back in Dec 2023 to see Jeremy Lin and the New Taipei Kings play against the Taoyuan Pilots in the P+ League. Coming from Taipei, the stadium was easy to get to by bus. There was a good amount of food choices. Tickets to sit near the court was actually not too expensive. If you’re looking to see Jeremy Lin play before he retires and he happens to be playing the Pilots, I would recommend you get a ticket!

Nestled in the heart of Taoyuan City, the Taoyuan City Public Main Library is a vibrant hub for knowledge seekers and book lovers alike. Spanning eight impressive floors, this expansive library boasts an extensive collection of books in various languages, including a significant selection of English titles. The modern design creates a clean and inviting atmosphere that makes it a local landmark.
Taoyuan Library is an incredibly comfortable and cozy place to spend the day. Even on weekends, when it gets crowded and finding a seat can be a challenge, the atmosphere remains peaceful and perfect for studying or reading. As a Muslim, I really appreciate that I can find quiet corners to pray without disturbing others. The library's book collection is quite extensive, and if a book isn’t available, the interlibrary loan system allows you to borrow it from another library and pick it up here—super convenient! Spending the whole day here never feels tiring because the space is so well-designed for learning and relaxation. Highly recommended!
Vita A — Google review
An eight floor enormous vibrant library for ANYONE! Offers a variety of book collections in multiple languages and quite studying/working areas. There are even some PCs for visitors to use and DVDs to rent, along with a bookstore on the first floor. There’s also some outdoor walking areas with stands and fairs! The best place to go to on weekends afternoon with family, friends, or alone for a tranquil time!
Osmond L — Google review
Why is the library getting warmer and warmer (around 26 to 27 degree) even though more people are visiting every day due to the extremely hot weather? I strongly believe that the library is NOT getting warmer beause of more people's visitation, but increased the AC temp. Because of the warm temp., the library including the elevators and bathrooms, are stinky with the smells of sweat. Lots of people are walking around, looking for a cool place to relax and read books, not because of the lack of seats or tables, but the lack of cool places. I frequently see bugs, even on the 7th floor. I bet that Carrefour is much cooler to stay than the library. Lots of cushion chairs are smelly with people's sweat, too. I frequently see that people clean their cushion chairs with wipes and alcohol sprays before they sit. I am wondering if there is even any standard for temeprature regulation in the library. During the winter, it was so cold, around 21 to 22 celcius while it is now around 26 to 27 during summer.
Jae J — Google review
One of the best libraries I've ever been to~ I learned to appreciate how the Taiwanese value education. Instead of going to malls or playing outdoors on weekends, many Taiwanese go to the library with their family. Plus, this library is really grand and beautiful. It encourages people to come and enjoy reading in a cozy environment.
Johns T — Google review
I love the amount of options of books they have. The library is newly built so the interior is gorgeous and very modern. I liked that the place was kept super quiet and it had manu different rooms available, like classrooms and study rooms. I liked that there was a coffee shop downstairs too. Everything was really amazing and it is probably one of the best libraries I've been to!
Lucas — Google review
The public library is a good place for meet up since they have restaurant and cafe. In addition, the exterior design is well designed and has its unique elements differ from others. You can also refill the water and use the facilities such as bathroom and reading tables for either study or work.

Love, love, love the amount & variety of books on the shelves / spacious reading areas / interactive corners💜 There are many floors to explore. It’s one of the top libraries that I would recommend. CHO Stay Capsule Hotel is a convenient option for travelers needing a place to stay in Taoyuan city center. It offers basic facilities such as capsule beds, lockers, and shared shower rooms. The hotel's cleanliness and organization are commendable, with friendly and helpful staff members making guests feel welcome. While the accommodations may be basic, the hotel's prime location within Taipei Airport Terminal 2 makes it a practical choice for those with layovers or early flights.
Perfect. Located inside Terminal 2 across from a food court. Clean, friendly, quiet. My only complaint is that some small children were being noisy in the evening while I was trying to sleep, but I do not think that is the fault of the hotel. All other guests did their best to be very quiet, not even talking in the rooms.
Natalie C — Google review
Seems I had a different experience to most because of one major issue. Firstly, the general facilities & staff are excellent - staff are friendly & helpful, slippers are provided, there's hi-tech toilets & high speed internet, ample storage options in the rooms, the place is very clean etc. Unfortunately the massive downside for me was the bed (mattress), which I found exceptionally stiff. I get this could be a cultural difference but this was next level for me. I actually stayed here 2 nights because of an important connection flight - the first night I had an average sleep but woke up with huge back pain (genuinely couldn't get out of bed for about 2 hours) and the second night I got about 90 minutes sleep total (probably some anxiety over how my back would feel again). Because feeling restful is such a crucial component of accommodation, I can only give 3 stars based on my personal experience.
Jonathon B — Google review
Of course, but with careful consideration: 1. Each capsule in the multi-person room is equipped with a box to store valuables. 2. Each shared bathroom stall has shampoo, body wash, and waterproof lockers. 3. Tea brewed by hotel staff is peaceful.
Jonathan B — Google review
Wow! Easy to access, inside the airport. Reasonably priced. Experience matched the advertised description. We experienced an overnight stay in clean spacious capsules, large and private enough for each person to really chill-out in. There's headspace when you sit up on bed. There's also space beside each bunk to store your things. Some capsules are up a short ladder of a few treads. A great place to stay if you need to catch a flight out from the airport the following day. Female and male dorms are separate as are the showers and toilets; all of these are accessible with your individual swipe key.
Anna B — Google review
With a 20hr layover in TPE, CHO Stay offers a comfortable place to rest at great value. The hotel’s lobby is designed like a tea room which added a calm ambience. Upon checking in, you receive a sachet of oolong tea which I happily consumed after settling in. The receptionists were extremely helpful and explained house rules in English. I stayed in a top bunk solo capsule. It was clean and had high quality bedding. If you don’t like climbing (which I did a lot of), try asking for a bottom capsule when you’re reserving your room. I appreciated the amenities they provided in the shower room (body wash, shampoo, dryer, q-tips, etc). A perk for their free membership: large towel to use for your shower. Non-members only receive a face towel. Bring sleepwear because they don’t provide them. It was quite the journey finding this hotel from T2 departure gates. Head towards arrivals (foreigners need to fill out an online visa, QR code is provided). You exit on the first floor, then take an elevator to the third floor, then head to another elevator located on the far right side where it will take you to the fifth floor. If you’re arriving late, there’s a family mart with quick meals/snacks and open seating on the fifth floor.
Lloraine U — Google review
The price is unbeatable with this location and service. The guests followed the rules and sorted their luggage in the hallway. Sadly, the restaurants nearby close very quickly. You can only rely on Family Mart at night and can’t access the observation deck. The hotel provides towels, a bag of tea samples, and a pair of sandals. You can also pick up free earplugs and eye masks from the entrance. There are Dyson hairdryers. The toilet seats are warm. The public shower room also has high-end shampoo and shower gel. The security is also guaranteed since you have to swipe the room card to each place. The only three things I would be concerned about are the hygiene of the sandals, the cleanliness of the public restrooms, and the difficulty of climbing up the capsule (at the corner). Sadly, I started with a pair of smelly sandals. Although I appreciated that they replaced them when requested, it was not a pleasant experience. I also noticed that there might not have been a cleaning service in the public area during your stay. It was not enjoyable in the morning since everyone used it. So, if you are concerned about this issue, I recommend using the toilets and shower room as soon as possible. Last, the ladder design is generally neat and safe, but not the one in the end. The ladder is so close to the wall, and a fire distinguisher is in the corner. With other guests' luggage, it was very challenging to go up and down.

Cannot recommend staying here MORE!!! so cute, little touches of amenities aka theybhad period hygiene products and a few other toiletries to use in the bathrooms, earplugs in case you forgot yours, the showers were clean and spacious with dry bags inside for your towel and clothing, they had bathroom tote baskets to use to carry your things, the bed was very comfy and the comforter was so fluffy! The staff was very welcoming and on top of cleanliness. The rooms were very quiet and relaxing. They give you a tea upon arrival that you can bring with you on your travels or they will make it for you. Highly recommend 10/10.
Carley M — Google review
The capsule itself was comfortable and tall. The luggage packing limitation is a huge downside though. The rooms are not designed in a way where you can fix luggage. So you have to do it outside the hall. Considering most people are going on a flight or came from a flight. Making the packing experience better would count for a lot. I do not like that I can only fix my luggage in the far away lobby. Maybe rooms also need a bit more soundproofing. The hostel does not have a super comfortable vibe in the lobby and hallway but the bathrooms are good. Had dyson hairdryers too. And shampoo and soap smelled luxurious

We came here to check out this little viewing area as we were in the area, and we stayed longer than we expected to, honestly. I think this is one of the more friendly and guided tours that we had in this small, traditional Japanese house built in the 1930s. The volunteer guides are elderly ladies who volunteer, and they also have student volunteers here as well. I think the experience of merging the modern and the traditional in this area is very embracing of the cultural change and modernization. The elderly volunteers shared stories about the house, its functionalities, and the types of materials used, which were very useful and amazing to see that such a beautiful piece of heritage is preserved and taken care of so well. We really enjoyed our time here chatting with the locals and getting know about this piece of history ❤️
