Manggis in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Manggis, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Manggis, on Bali’s quieter east coast, offers a slower-paced alternative to the island’s busier resort areas, with views of Mount Agung and the Lombok Strait. Travelers come for black-sand beaches, traditional fishing villages like Candidasa, and access to excellent snorkeling and diving around nearby Padangbai and the Blue Lagoon. The area is also a good base for exploring water palaces such as Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung, as well as rice terraces and rural landscapes. Boutique resorts and homestays are spread along the coast, giving visitors easy access to both the sea and the countryside.
With favorites like Tirta Gangga, Tenganan Pegringsingan Village, and QNARA INDIAN FOOD RESTAURANT, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Topi Inn and Bali Asli Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Manggis while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Tirta Gangga is a serene spiritual retreat featuring stunning gardens and natural springs, offering opportunities for swimming and picnicking. The area surrounding Tirta Gangga is rich in tourist attractions, including the majestic Mount Agung, the Telaga Waja river for water rafting, the charming beach town of Candidasa, and the ancient village of Tenganan. Sidemen Valley is a hidden gem with beautiful rice fields, colorful markets, and a strong sense of community.
A peaceful and beautiful place, perfect for a relaxing visit. The gardens and water features are stunning, with spectacular views all around. There are some tourists, but it’s not overcrowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. While it’s possible to see everything in about 30 minutes, I highly recommend staying longer to truly enjoy the calm atmosphere and take in the peaceful surroundings. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful place located just off the road. Peaceful, colorful, and incredibly charming. A very vast area with many nooks and crannies that many people overlook. It's worth buying fish food at the local stalls. It's quite crowded, but the place is worth visiting for its unique charm. Paid parking is available on-site, with plenty of spaces. Restaurants serving good food and quick service are located both on-site and nearby, and prices are practically the same as everywhere else.

Tirta Gangga, the famous “Water Palace” in East Bali, feels like stepping into a dream woven from water, stone, and sunlight. Built by the royal family of Karangasem, this place is surrounded by lush gardens, clear ponds, and sacred springs that shimmer under the Balinese sky. 🌿 The stone paths float gently over the water, and as you step from one lotus-shaped stone to another, koi fish swirl gracefully beneath your feet. Every ripple feels alive — like time moves slower here. The sound of trickling fountains and the scent of blooming flowers make it a perfect escape from the world outside. There’s a quiet peace in this place — a balance between human art and nature’s beauty. You can sit by the pond, dip your fingers into the cool water, and feel a sense of calm that words can barely describe. It’s not just a sightseeing spot; it’s a place where your soul takes a deep breath. 🌸

This was an absolutely beautiful and historic location that feels like stepping into a living postcard. The grounds are impeccably kept, with vibrant plants and flowers adding to the serene atmosphere. There are endless opportunities for stunning photos, including the famous Instagram-worthy stepping stone area, which surprisingly did not have too long of a line even during the busy season. The small museum on-site was both informative and interesting, giving context to the rich history of the site. Visitors were respectful and courteous, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This is a must-see stop for anyone looking to enjoy Balinese culture, history, and breathtaking scenery all in one visit.
Sean D — Google review
We visited Tirta Gangga as part of our East Bali Tour programme. This is a very well maintained and clean place, which was used as a former water palace. We learned it was named after the sacred river Ganges in India. You can hop on and walk on stones to cross the ponds. There are so many well-fed and big koi fishes in ponds that look lovely. We had also visited Ubud Water Palace before, Tirta Gangga is bigger than that so it was worth visiting. There is also a cafe & restaurant you can sit and relax.
Didem A — Google review
I visited Tirta Gangga and it was truly a sight to behold. This former royal water palace is incredibly scenic — a gorgeous blend of tranquil pools, flowing fountains, lush gardens, and traditional stone statues. Everywhere you turn feels like stepping into a postcard. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with stepping stones that take you across the water and let you wander right through the ponds surrounded by koi fish. It’s peaceful and elegant, with a charming, almost dream-like atmosphere that makes you want to take your time exploring every corner. Tirta Gangga is also full of photo opportunities. From the famous stepping stones to the ornate structures and beautifully landscaped gardens, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops. Whether you’re looking for serene scenery or iconic Bali shots, you’ll definitely find them here. Overall, Tirta Gangga is a must-visit if you enjoy history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. It offers a perfect mix of calm, beauty, and just enough adventure as you hop stone-to-stone through the water. A truly picturesque stop and one of Bali’s most charming sites.
Latisha D — Google review
Stopped here as part of our East Bali tour and it was beautiful! The fish are huge and really beautiful to look at. Great place to take some photos and just enjoy the scenery. Definitely would recommend a stop here.
Travis K — Google review
A beautiful and historic water palace with a peaceful atmosphere. It was a good experience overall, though quite crowded when we visited. We didn’t manage to get any great shots ourselves, but many people do, it’s definitely a very photogenic spot. Tip: go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and get the best photos. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Beautiful remote beach. You have to take some care getting in and out of the water, ie time your entry and exit with the waves, as the swell is strong and it gets very deep quickly. We made friends with some locals and they showed us an easier way to access the beach.

Black Sand Beach - A secluded beach, free of tourist. Take a short ride off the main road to get to this beautiful overlook.
Skybyrdy ( — Google review
Beautiful beach and so secluded and private! It was genuinely so peaceful and calming. Although the way to get down is via a bamboo ladder which was quite terrifying but the lovely local kindly guided us there!
Rachel H — Google review
Hidden gem! Adventurous walk down. Just us. Big waves. Clean and empty. Breathtaking. The family keeping the store next to the stairs are one of the friendliest I’ve met in Bali so far. Had a nice talk and drinks with them.
Milja — Google review
Beautiful black beach with super welcoming locals. Would highly recommend having nasi goreng at the little warung opposite of the bamboo ladder. They were the loveliest people
Tara — Google review
Very nice and almost empty black volcanic sand beach (were about 3 pm.). There’re two ways to reach it: stone stair leading to the boats (before the google spot, not very obvious to find) and the google spot stone stairs leading to the bamboo ladder. If you’re not risky person choose the 1st stair. The beach is clean and beautiful. The road from Seraya is narrow with ups and downs (low car can suffer a little bit).
Pelageya V — Google review
What a hidden gem! I've seen many black sand beaches in my life but I must say this was the best one so far! I arrived there around 1pm (March, 2024) and there was absolutely nobody except me. I went down the bamboo ladder which is in a good condition now and when I was already down, I realized there's another way to get there, by stairs 🙂 The bamboo ladder made it more adventurous tho 😜 It's beautiful, clean, empty and peaceful. I've been to Amed hundreds of times and I've never seen this beach before so it was a great surprise. It takes around 30min drive to get there from the center of Amed.
Anna K — Google review
Be very careful about the waves because they are strong and can easily suck you into the sea with rocks on each side. Could be fatal. However it's beautiful to see and you will probably be alone there. Use stairs as ladder is broken and cannot be trusted imo. Don't expect any shops, toilet or anything. One of the best looking beaches I've been to even if not for swimming (unless you are brave/crazy to do it).

Tenganan Pegringsingan Village is a hidden gem that offers an authentic glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of Bali. This extraordinary village, home to the Bali Aga people, showcases traditional houses and vibrant weaving demonstrations that reflect their unique heritage. As you stroll through its serene streets, you'll encounter friendly locals eager to share their history and craftsmanship without any pressure. The atmosphere here is calm and peaceful, providing a refreshing contrast to more touristy areas of Bali.
Tenganan Pegringsingan Village is a very unique and culturally rich place to visit. The traditional houses, weaving demonstrations, and overall atmosphere give you a real glimpse into Bali’s heritage. The villagers are welcoming but not pushy, which made walking around feel relaxed. One thing to note is that while the environment is generally well kept, I did notice a few spots with the smell of dog poop here and there, which can be a little distracting at times. It’s not overwhelming, but just something to be aware of while exploring the pathways. Overall, it’s worth visiting for the authenticity, history, and local crafts, definitely a highlight of the area, with just a few small things that could be improved for comfort.
Choirib M — Google review
Amazing experience learning culture of original Balinese people here. It's quite an eye opening experience to see what the people here have to offer and their way of life. I like the entrance fee is based on donation instead of standard charge rate, it's earnest and doesn't make the village feel like money making zone. The locals are welcoming and friendly, they're willing to share their history and handcraft skills . It's amazing
Ifix T — Google review
A beautiful old village that's definitely worth a visit. Very peaceful. The beekeeper there invited us for a drink and some honey and told us a bit about his craft and bees. It's a memorable one.
Alex B — Google review
We left Tenganan Pegringsingan Village with a heart full of peace and admiration. This ancient Balinese village offers not only a glimpse into the island’s rich traditions and unique culture, but also a sense of serenity and authenticity that’s hard to find elsewhere. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming, and their pride in preserving centuries-old customs is truly inspiring. Walking through the narrow paths lined with traditional homes, watching the artisans weave double ikat textiles, and hearing the stories behind every ritual made the visit unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a deeper, more meaningful connection with the real Bali.
Armağan D — Google review
Lovely cultural experience. When you arrive they ask you for a donation, this money goes towards the children's education and construction of the new temple. From what we saw, people donated roughly $50-100k, but it's up to you Once you donated, a guide (ours spoke excellent English) will take you through the village and explain their local customs, religion, and the significance of their culture to you. He'll take you to his house and offer you the chance to purchase their wares (our guide had a wife that weaves, so they offered us a chance to buy their heritage listed fabrics). You're not pressured to buy, though it's nice if you do. Overall the tour was very informative, the people were very friendly, and we ended up visiting the local honey farm too and buying some local honey while learning more about the black bees narrative to this region. Great way to learn more about the original inhabitants of this island and their culture.
Cynthia R — Google review
The truest Balinese village without Majapahit and other external influence. In my opinion, it is the most underrated authentic Balinese village that still exist and untouched. Look for Cobby, a young chap who is always passionate about his root and culture, for the best local guide and activities around the neighbourhood. Looking forward to trekking with him in my next visit.
Fritz J — Google review
Extraordinary, ancient village. Many textile (Ikat) and antique shops. Teeming with chooks, dogs, cats and birds. Small donation on entry and QR code for self-tour. Really worth a look.
Megan M — Google review
With a small donation most people give around 100K, you get a local guide that walks you around the village. The tour takes about 1 hour and is informative about the history of the village and its culture. There is an opportunity to purchase items from the village if you wish.

Blue Lagoon Beach is a serene resort with villas surrounded by gardens, featuring a spa, pool, and a restaurant/bar overlooking the sea. Located on the east side of Bali islands, it's about 1.5 hours from Kuta by car but well worth the drive. The beach is a hidden paradise and a top spot for snorkeling enthusiasts due to its clear waters and rich coral reefs teeming with colorful fish.
Parking 2k idr Snorkelling set rental fee from the shop nearby 75k idr The corals are thriving, fishes are a lot, we saw some gamat and eels as well. Just make sure not to step on corals since it's quite shallow. There are some rubbing near the shore which can dampen the mood, but the fishes made up for it.
Izz B — Google review
Turns out as a gray or green lagoon? LOL! I don't know, you be the judge. Could be due to the gloomy cloudy weather when I arrived, but as far as I know, a lagoon color should not be affected very much by the daylight, unless extreme weather maybe. The beach was not enticing at all, with rubbish all over. There was heavy raining the day before till the morning so I'll give this blue lagoon claim a benefit of doubt. We stayed for a while and left without entering the water because the wave looks rough. Worth a visit? Definitely not. Still want to visit? Than better wait for nice sunny weather.
John T — Google review
The beach is small, but with light sand. The waves are strong, the water is a beautiful color, but since the port is located right behind the cape of the lagoon, at some point there was a lot of debris and muck floating in the water that was thrown overboard from tourist ships or elsewhere, and this made swimming in this place unpleasant. An interesting fact was that tourists book a snorkeling package on the other side of the cape, which is actually just a hill climb away, and then they are brought a few dozen meters around the cape to the lagoon to snorkel, when at the same time you could walk for 15 minutes and then rent a snorkeling gear on the lagoon and do it yourself there 😀. Is this a place where you can ride a scooter for 45 minutes...then the answer is no, it didn't make me feel like I would make such a trip again.
Juri H — Google review
A small lagoon that could be so good if looked after, but sadly is being used and not maintained. A short walk (think meters) from Padang Bai up a steep tarmac slope and down a flight of rough steps. Parking at the top 2K for bikes, 5k for cars. The small bay has a couple of bars that rent out snorkelling equipment (60k for fins, mask, snorkle). The beach is as rubbish strewn as the path down to the bay and sadly this rubbish is floating around the reef. It is only a small area of reef which is basically in the bay you can see. The water was clear when we were there, just with a haze of bits floating around. As you enter the water from the beach there are a few strong waves but as soon as you are past them it becomes easy to paddle around. The reef is not deep and easy to dive down. There are an OK range of fish to see, probably more for beginner snorkellers. A few interesting corals in different colours. An hour is probably all you to need to fully explore the reef.
Paul T — Google review
The views from 1B are gorgeous. Otherwise you need to appreciate a rustic experience. Eg. Showers outside (privacy protected or course) water lukewarm, if it's pouring and you don't like mixing cool rain water with shower, then it's a problem.
M S — Google review
Stopped by on the way—parking was 2k, which is standard. The beach itself was average and a bit messy. I didn’t snorkel, so I can’t comment on that, but on the day I visited the water looked more green and grey than blue. To be fair, the weather was cloudy, so it might look much better on a sunny day."
Marek D — Google review
We did snorkelling in Blue lagoon beach , plenty of fish , we took the boat to do snorkelling , the water is so clear and clean , the price was 650 k Indonesian for 2 people

Blue Lagoon Beach is such a beautiful hidden spot! The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming or snorkeling — we saw colorful fish right near the shore. The beach is peaceful, not too crowded, and surrounded by stunning views. It feels like a secret paradise. I’d definitely come back again!

Topi Inn was our tour operator and guide to take us snorkelling out to Blue Lagoon and surrounds. We are a family of 5 including 3 teenagers. Ride out was smooth and fun. Boat was a traditional style boat so it felt authentic. Our guide was in the water with us pointing out the turtle and special fish. Water was super clear and not a shark in sight - they say they don't get them there. We felt safe and super happy with the experience. Food was ready for us when we got back. There were also toilets and showers available.

Snorkeling with lunch! Saw the beautiful coral and almost every fish that I’ve ever seen in a US Aquarium at the Blue Lagoon. After you shower if you want, they provided a delicious lunch with vegetarian options; I had fried noodles with vegetables and an egg, which was very filling after all the swimming I enjoyed. Some people recorded their snorkeling with a GoPro, which was fun. They are such nice owners and staff that really deserve your business! They arranged a wonderful massage for me. I walked back for dinner and ate a prawns (shrimp) appetizer, a tuna dinner, then followed by dessert. Yummy seafood—all delicious! Beautiful view of the Harbor. Vacation vibe and fun Spanish music. I will return again.

Bali Asli Restaurant is a hidden gem nestled among the rice fields, offering authentic Balinese cuisine and cooking classes. The menu changes daily based on market availability and garden harvests, ensuring a traditional dining experience. With wood-fired mud brick stoves and picturesque views of Mount Agung, this restaurant provides an adventurous yet serene atmosphere for couples. Its location at the foothills of Mount Agung offers stunning vistas, making it a popular tourist spot despite slightly higher prices compared to other nearby eateries.
If you’re taking a day trip to Lempuyang Temple don’t miss the opportunity to have a Meal at this restaurant. What a gem of a traditional Balinese fine dining experience! Set in rice fields, with breathtaking views of Mt Agung, and a very cool chic open air restaurant. Penelope the chef/owner and her friendly team have created something truly unique, beautiful and not to be missed.

📍The restaurant is located in the east of Bali Island. In the Karangasem area. 🖼️🌴 It is located in a very picturesque place, in the middle of the jungle, with a stunning view of the mountains. P.S. The mountains will be visible if there are no clouds. All the furniture, decor, and interior design are made in a Balinese style, which is very authentic and beautiful. 🚽 A special feature of this restaurant is the toilet. The toilet itself offers a stunning view of the mountains🙃 📜 The restaurant's menu is designed in an unusual style. It's nice to have a lot of style in the little things. 🍛🍚 Food . Balinese restaurant. I really enjoyed everything I ordered. Beautiful presentation. 🧑‍🍳 The staff is very kind, friendly, and helpful. 🙏🏼 I recommend this restaurant if you want to try local Balinese cuisine. You will also enjoy the stunning views of the mountains (volcano) and the atmosphere, style, and local lifestyle. 🤗🫶

what a great experience! We found this restaurant by chance while visiting Tirta Gangga. The target group of this place is certainly not Indonesians, however it did not disappoint in terms of taste. It was simple enough to enjoy and not overly made to the point it was pretentious. Not something I would frequent, but it was a great place to bring overseas guests and introduce them to Balinese cuisine. Staffs were very friendly and the owner herself was present to serve some of the dishes, which I found was a nice little touch of detail.

We visited this restaurant for lunch one afternoon and there was literally no one else there. What a shame. The restaurant is so beautiful. Then it has such great view of the paddy field. They even have the bathroom with a view. The staff is so very nice. And the food is great. We even loved their menu. They have a whole asli Bali (real Bali) theme going on and they have taken it very seriously. Since I am vegetarian, they made all the balinese dishes vegetarian for me. It was so very kind of them. While you are waiting for the food, they serve you rice flour chips with such tasty chutney, you would just want to eat those and nothing else.

This place is outstanding. The local food is prepared with love using very fresh ingredients. The lovely owner greeted us upon arrival and explained all of the beautiful food we would have. Amazing portion sizes and hands down one of the best curries I've ever eaten outside of India 🤤 I chose to make mine spicy and my mum had mild which is perfect when you want to chose how spicy your dish is. I believe you can choose for all dishes

It was so so indian food. Maybe for people who have never been to India it would be great, because they don't have any expectations but if you had nice indian meal before, so it is very disappointing.

I really like the food, the place is really comfortable, perfect for a holiday in this area and you have to eat here, the service is also really good, the employees are smiling and ready to help

I’ve been coming here for 4 days in a row, without doubt the food is always on point. The ladies are friendly, and the service is amazing. It’s probably the best Indian restaurant in East Bali. Forgot to mention try their mocktails (Pina Colada)!

I'm genuinely impressed by the quality of food and pricing options. I had the vegan thali and it was delicious! Keep up the craft.

Day 2

Southwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Goa Lawah Temple, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Padang Bai Beach. All together, your day would be filled with about 4 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled in the serene coastal town of Candidasa, Goa Lawah Temple is a captivating 11th-century Balinese Hindu temple that draws visitors with its unique charm. This sacred site is built around a small cave teeming with bats, adding an intriguing element to its spiritual ambiance. The temple complex serves as a significant cultural landmark in Klungkung, East Bali, where fascinating tales abound—like that of the Mengwi Kingdom prince who sought refuge within the cave during perilous times.
A beautiful and peaceful temple, definitely worth visiting. The highlight is the cave—you can clearly see the bats hanging at the entrance from the outside, which makes it quite unique. The temple is very active, with numerous ceremonies and prayers taking place throughout the day, offering a fascinating glimpse into local spirituality. At the entrance, they provide you with a sarong so you can enter respectfully, and they also place a flower necklace around your neck, which they kindly suggest you buy as a donation when you leave. It’s a culturally rich and meaningful experience.

We really loved this temple! The batcave was really special and something we never saw before. It was quiet and not overflown with tourists. The only thing we didn’t quite like were the people around the temple trying to sell things. They were quite disrespectful and kept pushing people to buy overpriced stuff.
Lotte S — Google review
Beautiful temple. The people outside are very friendly and happy to help you with buying tickets, providing suitable clothing, and answering any questions you might have.
Julie B — Google review
I like this temple - small, beautiful, peaceful and not touristy. There was a couple of tourists other than me. Goa Lawah means bat cave. True to the name, loads of bats. However they remained in/close to the cave - no disturbance.
Nuch — Google review
We visited just outside only. It is a hindu temple. Nearly ocean and good sound of wave.
Santosh G — Google review
Have been to the temple previously, this visit was to a local warung nearby on the beach. There were ceremonies happening, so I wandered along to watch the locals and record the scenes
Craig A — Google review
A different temple compared with the other ones, it's curious how bats are integrated into the culture and traditions . If you're lucky you could see some rituals and ceremonies that locals perform there.

30.000 IDR with a sharong that you can keep included with the price, or 25k if you have yours. Nice temple, relaxing place if not for "guides" inside that want you to go with them, tell you 2 things and get some money from you.

Outdoor Activities
Bias Tugel Beach, also known as Pantai Kecil or White Sand Beach, is a hidden gem near Padang Bai. Accessible via a short 500m trek down a rocky path, this tranquil beach offers stretches of white sand and sparkling blue sea with swaying coconut trees. It's somewhat secluded and provides a serene atmosphere away from the bustling tourist spots.
Beautiful white sand beach, with very clear blue water. The waves are biggish but the tide pushes you towards the shore (or it did when I went), so I believe it to be safe, just don’t swim too far out. If you can swim at all, it should be totally fine. There are people with snorkels and I believe there’s fish slightly further out. 10k entry per person, collected as you drive in. Then you have to walk down a number of steps and turn left for the beach. Then it’s a few minutes downhill walk over some roots/rocky bits, but it’s not too difficult. The beach itself is so quiet, we were there from 11:30-3pm and considering how wonderful it is, I expected far more people. We rented a sunbed for 35k pp. Toilet facilities aren’t nice but that’s just how they are and it’s nothing shocking to me, given I’ve been travelling a while. They are squat toilets also. A lady sells grilled and salted corn cobs for 25k a pop and they are delicious! There’s also several restaurant/shops/stalls. I only encountered one beach seller and they did not pester us for long or return. Perhaps there are more on weekends, but we came on a Monday and only encountered the one - no big deal. The water is clear and nice and cold - but not too cold. It’s very refreshing and I believe it’s the best beach on Bali mainland.

I recently visited this beach that left me with mixed impressions. The entrance fee was 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah per person, which seemed reasonable at first, but our experience with payment was frustrating. After handing over 100,000 Rupiah for two people, the attendant only returned 70,000, shortchanging us by 10,000. It felt like an attempt to cheat, which dampened the mood right at the start. Swimming was challenging due to strong waves, making it less ideal for those looking for a relaxing dip. The beach itself was somewhat dirty, which detracted from the natural beauty. Additionally, the proximity to a local port made the surroundings less scenic and more industrial. As a foreigner, I found the atmosphere a bit overwhelming. Locals were constantly trying to sell items or push us to rent a chaise lounge, leaving little room for relaxation. The lack of electricity in the area was also inconvenient, as it meant no card payments or options for charging phones. While the beach has some potential, the combination of poor maintenance, pushy vendors, and lack of basic facilities made it less enjoyable. The entrance fee and the attempted shortchanging added to the negative experience. I wouldn't recommend it unless improvements are made in cleanliness, transparency, and facilities.
Asy M — Google review
Visited this beach in October 2024, quite early in the morning. I loved the track leading down — quiet and a bit challenging 🤣 The beach was beautiful. I arrived just after sunrise. I hesitated to swim at first, but I did it anyway. And guess what? Just as I swam near the rocks… I SAW A BLACK-AND-WHITE STRIPED SNAKE! 😭 I panicked and told a group of Balinese boys who were already there. One of them casually said, “Yeah, you can find them near the rocks — just don’t swim too close, and you’ll be fine.” So yeah — beautiful and quiet beach, but maybe avoid swimming near the rocks 🥹
Mpokgaga E — Google review
You have two options in going down here — pay 20k from the other entrance or climb a hill and walk down a forest to get to the beach. Nonetheless, it is quiet a peaceful place in Padangbai. The chairs are like 50k each and there’s beer options too. The waves are nice but gets huge from time to time.
Keziah R — Google review
To begin with, this beach is not white and consist of black sand. I am not sure why some says it's white, probably they have never come across an actual white sandy beach. Next, accessing the beach requires trekking thru a rubbished area which was disgusting, followed by up and down thru unmarked clearings. Just follow the direction toward the beach, you should be fine. Either that, you could access it via the end of the road where there's access to a secret beach too. At the beach side, there's some Warungs selling food and drinks. I'm just intrigued about the RP10,000 they collect, what do they do with it instead of keeping the beach clean. Strange. Return again to this beach? Hell no.

Beautiful beach, very peaceful with some nice spots for food / drink.
Katie C — Google review
Very chill white sand beach with clear turquoise water. The waves can be a little rough to get in (dependind on the time of day), but for the most part once you pass the first couple of waves you can swim out a bit. There are plenty of warungs with beach chairs, umbrellas and delicious food and cold beer. Don’t expect good toilets (squat toilets with bucket flush of sea water) and there are no showers. The tide can bring some rubbish at times, but that is a problem overall in Bali. I spent 2 afternoons here and loved it! There are some vendors, but they are very respectful if you say “no thanks” with a smile. There are 2 paths to get here; one you have to pay 10K (which is supposed to go to beach maintenance) and the other is free. Highly recommend it if you are in Panangbai 🏝️🏖️
Carolina B — Google review
Getting to the beach is an exciting walk, but when you get there, you'll find a nice beach with big waves where you can swim. But I recommend taking off your sunglasses before going into the water...I lost them myself because a very high wave surprised me and took them with me. One snorkeler also took off his mask, which he also lost...so be careful on the beach in case of high waves. You can rent beach chairs.

Beach
Padang Bai Beach, also known as Bias Tugel Beach, is a stunning white-sand beach in Bali that offers clear waters and a tranquil atmosphere. It is celebrated for its original and undisturbed form, making it one of the most magnificent beaches on the island. The Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai Beach provides opportunities for swimming and snorkeling, while nearby diving sites offer sightings of unique marine life such as squids, stonefish, and reef sharks.
One of the cleanest beaches in Bali, or maybe we just here on a good day. But it was definitely a nice place to watch the sun go down and people watch the locals at play after a long tropical day.
Jason ( — Google review
This is a busy bay for speedboats going to Gili islands and lombok, some also go to Lembongan and Nusa Penida. The water in the bay looked blue and clear but lots of rubbish floating on the top from all the traffic , which is so sad to see, as this may very well have once been a great beach, with its sandy bed and sandy entry into the water. That said, it’s better that major boat traffic is contained to certain ports. It would be nice to move this one to an area where the beach is rocky and not for swimming .
MNML J — Google review
Nice colors but all full of plastic and rubbish. Nobody cares to clean up. This place has a weird feeling in the air. We just stayed to go to the Gilis the day after. I don’t believe anyone can enjoy it here for much longer. We were happy when we left.
CJS — Google review
You can’t really relax or enjoy the beach. Everywhere you turn, someone’s trying to sell you something or push you into doing snorkelling. If you’re looking for peace and space, this is not the place.
Jasmin A — Google review
Padang Bai Beach was unfortunately a stressful experience. The area is extremely hectic, with people constantly trying to sell you something or scam you in some way. It felt like we were being approached non-stop. We also had to wait far too long in line for the boat to Gili T, and even while standing in line, we were repeatedly hassled by sellers. Overall, it was not a relaxing or pleasant experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re just passing through quickly.
Einar D — Google review
Took a snorkel tour from shore out to two dive sites. The variety of marine life we seen was great. However there is lots of rubbish on the shore and in the water and on shore we felt constantly harassed and pressured bu street vendors and unlicensed taxi drivers, we would not come to this area again and were very happy to leave
Peter N — Google review
We took a boat snorkeling from here to Blue Lagoon and Amuk Bay. You probably don’t need a boat as you could probably access from Blue Lagoon beach or Amuk Bay but still was good to have snorkeling equipment and guide. There is lovely hard and soft coral and an abundance of fish (five stars). We booked everything through a trusted local contact who drove us and arranged snorkeling etc. This meant we didnt have to deal with any local mafia etc which made the experience more relaxing for us. Unfortunately as others have noted there is also an abundance of plastic rubbish some of which we collected while snorkeling but it is somewhat depressing when you see the mountains of plastic rubbish on the beach (one star). Why do humans destroy the things we love?
B T — Google review
Unfortunately this was the most polluted Beach in Bali we've seen, so we two of us spent 3 hours picking up rubbish and the locals helped put the bags up on the pavement for the rubbish trucks the following day. Could be a stunning beach if everyone just collected a few bits of rubbish each day.

There serverd tasty food. We tried oy vegan options. All were yummy. They even customised pineapple fried rice with vegan. Staff is great.

I ordered the Pepes Ikan and it was delicious, even though it took pretty long to get the order delivered. But it might also because I tried to customize my order to a spicy one. My friends ordered grilled fish and they said it was dry. I tried the pumpkin soup and it was just okay. Service can still be improved, though.

Disgusting food. We ordered the spaghetti and the chili fried tofu. They were both inedible. Tasteless slop. Clearly using frozen ingredients as everything was soggy. I wouldn’t even give it to a dog. Avoid this restaurant.
Ethan — Google review
I have eaten here several times over the past few years and the food is always excellent. Very good value with fast, friendly service. Add to that a cool sea breeze and window seat with a view, what more could you ask for? I very rarely rate restaurants with 5 stars but this place deserves.
Lisa E — Google review
The restaurant was done up in traditional Balinese style and has a good view of the calm bay with bobbing boats and nice sea breeze. The staff was friendly and accommodating. That’s what the two stars are for. Out of the 4 dishes that we ordered, only one person finished all her food. The club sandwich was relatively tasty but was soaked in mayo and fell apart from the first bite. The vegetarian fried rice noodles tasted like it has way too much msg and was really oily. The scrambled eggs was super dry and needed loads of ketchup to make it palatable. The only passable dish was the basil fried rice which had strange green hard bits of rice that looked uncooked. Relatively cheap but food is not great
The H — Google review
Finished our meals first then read some of these reviews. Why would anyone try to order pizza and burgers at an Indo resto? Ofcourse you can expect disappointment 😂 We had the chicken saté, rendang beef, and pepes fish and for dessert dadar gulung, a green crepe with coconut filling. All very tasty and nothing to complain about. Price was great as well. I recommend it!

The food was great we ate there after our boat back from Gili T, probably one of the more reasonably priced and good establishment you will find around the pier area. Also the food was great and quick service. The toilets were clean so that's always a good sign. 😄

We have lunch and drinks here. Mi goreng is ok. Chicken satay with rice is good. Nasi goreng is so so. Pineapple lassy is not that great. Mango soda and iced latte are good. This restaurant has parking lot and outdoor showering (can have more water pressure). The toilets will need a renovation.

The restaurant also offers beautiful views and cold beverages, making it an ideal choice for tourists looking to hang out, eat, or chill by the sea.

Decently priced menu but you definitely get what you pay for. Food is bland, overcooked and unseasoned. Had bugs in it. Service is not great. I was waiting for a fast boat to the Gili Islands and had all my luggage with me so I didn't have many options for a meal near the harbour. I will not be coming back to this "restaurant"
