Darjeeling Mall Road isn’t just a pretty spot—it’s where so many of our childhood memories were made. From munching on hot momos in the chilly air to racing past the bookshops and watching the ponies go by, everything felt a bit magical back then. That view of Kanchenjunga at sunset? Still unforgettable. The mix of tourists, locals, and that cool mountain breeze made it feel like its own little world. Even now, walking down that road feels like stepping right back into the past.

A beautiful and vibrant place at the heart of Darjeeling! The Mall is perfect for a leisurely walk, surrounded by stunning mountain views and a calm, breezy atmosphere. It’s full of charm — with cozy cafés, local shops, and the friendly buzz of people around. The evenings here feel especially magical with the lights, music, and cool mist in the air. A must-visit spot to truly feel the spirit of Darjeeling! 🌸🌸

Darjeeling's Mall Road, often used interchangeably with Chowrasta, is the vibrant heart and social center of the town. It's a flat, open-air promenade that is completely vehicle-free, making it the most popular spot for both locals and tourists to stroll, relax, and socialize. Here’s a quick guide to what you can expect: What to Do at Mall Road Stroll and Relax: The main activity is to simply walk the loop, which goes around Observatory Hill. The atmosphere is peaceful, and there are numerous benches where you can sit, enjoy the crisp mountain air, and watch the world go by. Enjoy Kanchenjunga Views: On a clear day, the Mall offers breathtaking, panoramic views of the entire Kanchenjunga mountain range. The eastern side of the loop (past the Raj Bhavan) is particularly famous for this. Pony Rides: A popular activity, especially for children, is taking a pony ride around the Mall. Shopping: The area is lined with a mix of modern boutiques and historic shops. You can find: Darjeeling Tea: Famous shops like Nathmulls Tea and Golden Tips offer a wide variety of local teas to sample and buy. Woolens & Apparel: Numerous small stalls and shops sell sweaters, shawls, jackets, and hats. Handicrafts & Souvenirs: Look for shops like Habeeb Mullick & Son (one of the oldest) for curios, silver jewelry, and Tibetan handicrafts. Famous Eateries Mall Road is home to some of Darjeeling's most iconic places to eat: Glenary's: A heritage institution with a bakery and cafe on the ground floor (famous for breakfast, pies, and cakes) and a restaurant/bar upstairs. Keventer's: Known for its classic English breakfast (sausages, bacon, eggs) and milkshakes, all served on a famous open-air terrace with fantastic views. Kunga Restaurant: A short walk from the Mall, this small, family-run eatery is beloved for its authentic Tibetan food, especially momos and thukpa. Key Sights On and Around the Mall Chowrasta: The main square itself, which means "four roads meeting." It has a statue of the Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya. Observatory Hill & Mahakal Temple: The Mall Road circles this hill. A steep climb up from the Mall leads you to the Mahakal Temple, a sacred spot for both Hindus and Buddhists, which sits at the top.

Darjeeling Mall, also known as Chowrasta, is truly the heart of Darjeeling. It’s a beautiful open space surrounded by mountains, pine trees, and old colonial-style buildings. I loved walking here — the air felt so fresh, and every corner had its own charm. It’s not just a market, it’s an experience. You’ll see people sitting on benches sipping tea, tourists taking pictures, children enjoying horse rides, and locals chatting happily. The sound of the prayer bells from nearby Mahakal Temple makes the place even more peaceful. There are many small shops selling woollen clothes, souvenirs, and Darjeeling tea. Some prices are a bit high, but with a smile and a little bargaining, you can get good deals. Cafes around the Mall are cozy — perfect for a cup of tea or coffee with a mountain view. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon. In the evening, the place glows under street lights and feels calm and romantic. But at night, most shops close early, so don’t plan for late shopping. Yes, it can get crowded during holidays, and sometimes you’ll see horses and stray dogs around, but that’s part of its natural hill-station vibe. Overall, Darjeeling Mall is a place to relax, breathe, and feel the real spirit of Darjeeling. You can sit quietly, watch people, enjoy the fog rolling in, and feel like time has slowed down. ⭐ My Rating: 4.7 / 5 🕊️ Vibe: Calm, lively, and full of local flavor ☕ Must-Do: Have tea, take a slow walk, and capture the sunrise or sunset view

You can shop for local handicrafts, souvenirs, woolens, and more.Tourists and locals chilling and relaxing their evenings in mall with with a cup of tea or cofee with their families.

All of Darjeeling seems to be on the mall during evening time. As we visited on two days one of which was a holiday the shops were all closed and only restaurants were open. You can try the several eateries, do shopping for jackets or souvenirs and tea here or just stroll along the road.
Nitish N — Google review
One of the vibrant streets that i will never forget in my life, it was that great experience for us, we planned to go for a short walk through the streets to experience the city, but it kept us for a long time, the vibe there is completely different than anything, the lights, the people, the climate and especially the unexpected fogs that making the streets more beautiful, we really enjoyed there, If you visit Darjeeling, it is not only the UNESCO Heritage trains, it’s also the mall street which will give you an entire different experience,

Tea Garden View in Darjeeling is an absolutely stunning place! The view is breathtaking, with lush green tea gardens stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s a perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of nature. The fresh air and peaceful surroundings make it a must-visit for nature lovers. However, the tea stall charges quite a high price for tea, which was a bit disappointing. While the taste was good, the pricing felt a little excessive. Still, the overall experience was wonderful, and I’d highly recommend visiting for the serene atmosphere and scenic beauty!

Beyond the captivating beauty of the tea gardens, Happy Valley also boasts a well-stocked retail outlet just outside the main garden area. Here, you can purchase an exquisite selection of their finest teas, directly from the source. The variety is impressive, ranging from delicate white teas and classic Darjeeling it's a holistic experience that engages all your senses. Panoramic views are good as it is always nice to have a look around tea plantations . Otherwise it is a big zero on part of wasting precious time from your tight schedule here . It would have been better if tourists are permitted to explore this in depth and spend some moments with actual living of tea workers and know the details…..

It was pretty high cliff the walk, but the experience was good. Beware of monkeys, the could steal your footwear. Apart from that, the experience was so good that I cannot express much. It was a blissful place with multiple Sanctum of different Hindu Deities. The main attraction was Mahakal Temple. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 The peaceful environment made me emotional for a moment. While sitting there, I felt like that my problems were too far gone. Tough the road was stiff enough, but the blissfulness dragged me into devotion.

Located on top of the Observatory Hill, it offers a calm atmosphere with mesmerizing views of the mountains. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds deep religious importance for both Hindus and Buddhists, symbolizing harmony and devotion. The path leading to the temple is surrounded by fluttering prayer flags, echoing chants, and the ringing of bells, which together create a divine experience. We enjoyed the trek to Mahakal Temple, though my father couldn’t make the climb due to weight-related difficulties—a reminder for elderly or unfit visitors to take caution. Observatory Hill is a serene spot in Darjeeling with a sacred vibe from the Mahakal Temple, colorful prayer flags, and a small cave. It’s a short 5-10 minute uphill walk from the Mall, free to enter, and open all day. The Himalayan views are stunning, but when we visited, clouds blocked Kanchenjunga, which was a bummer. Monkeys keep things lively—just guard your snacks! Perfect for a quick, peaceful visit and photos if the weather’s clear. Go early for the best experience!

Observatory View Point in Darjeeling is truly one of the most peaceful and refreshing spots in town. Really a good place to sit and soak in the beauty of nature without the usual chaos found in crowded tourist spots. The calm atmosphere makes it perfect for relaxing your mind while enjoying the cool mountain breeze. There are around 2–3 places where you can comfortably sit and admire the surroundings. From one of the points, you get a clear and mesmerizing view of the majestic Kanchenjunga, especially when the sky is clear and the white clouds blow away, revealing the snow-capped peaks in all their glory. The other viewpoint also offers a nice panoramic view of the valley and the lush greenery around. What makes this place even more special is its simplicity — no rush, no vendors shouting, just pure tranquility. There’s even a small area where you can do light workouts or stretching while breathing in the fresh mountain air. Overall, Observatory View Point is a hidden gem for those who love peaceful surroundings and scenic beauty. A perfect place to sit quietly, reflect, and connect with nature.

The Darjeeling Clock Tower, located near the city center and mall road, is a century-old structure that stands as a reminder of the colonial history of Darjeeling. Originally part of the Town Hall, it is now integrated into the Darjeeling Municipality building. The clock's bell chimes every hour and can be heard from the nearby Darjeeling Mall. This modest yet iconic landmark showcases British architectural style and adds a vintage charm to the town's landscape.
The Darjeeling Clock Tower is a historical landmark built in 1921, showcasing Victorian Gothic architecture. Located in Chauk Bazaar, it's a central meeting point with superb valley views. The tower is a must-see for its colonial heritage and nostalgic charm.

The clock tower's bell chimes every hour, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the surrounding area. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the valley, explore nearby shops and cafes, and experience the local culture. The tower is open 24 hours a day and is a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike. A charming old clock tower that really catches the eye while walking to and from Mall Road. It stands tall with a quiet elegance and feels like a piece of the area’s identity. There’s something nostalgic about it — like it’s been silently watching over everything for years. While it adds a lot of charm during the day, it becomes quite hard to notice at night due to poor lighting. A bit of thoughtful illumination could make it shine after dark. Still, it’s a lovely and meaningful landmark that adds to the vibe of just being here.
Gaurav G — Google review
It's a historical landmark of Darjeeling and a symbol of colonial heritage situated in the prime location beside the Mall Road. It offers a vintage look and sophisticated and elegant architecture. But day by day with lack of maintenance it's becoming shabby and untidy building only.

Darjeeling Clock Tower, a historical landmark at Darjeeling city. It stands at the junction of Gandhi road and Ladenla road. The 100 foot high stone tower features four clock faces, was built in the year 1920. The tower is a significant historical landmark that reflects the british colonial period of India.
Pranab D — Google review
There’s something quietly magical about the moment when I first spot the Darjeeling Clock Tower in the heart of the town—its elegant stone façade rising amid the swirl of activity. Historically constructed between 1917 and 1921, this 100-foot tower was part of the colonial-era municipality and Town Hall, and its sturdy silhouette still commands attention today. I find myself drawn into the lively energy of the surrounding Chowrasta–Chauk Bazaar area, where the tower stands as a timeless sentinel. Locals and visitors weave around street vendors selling tea, snacks, and handicrafts. The tick of the clock and the faint chime every hour feel like the heartbeat of Darjeeling, marking time as effortlessly as the rolling mist drifts across the hills. As I step closer to admire its architectural charm—neo-Gothic and neoclassical elements blending seamlessly—the distant hills peek through gaps in the rooftops, offering a perfect contrast between natural grandeur and human history. Nightfall brings a different kind of allure. The clock tower glows softly under warm lighting, transforming into a beacon of nostalgia against the cool mountain air and shadowed outlines of Darjeeling’s colonial buildings. It evokes an era gone by, yet remains vibrantly alive in the present. Walking away, I carry with me a sense of continuity—how one structure can bridge centuries, reminding us that some landmarks endure not only in stone and gears, but in the stories and rhythms of daily life.

The Japanese Buddhist Temple in Darjeeling is a serene and traditional temple with a multi-level pagoda that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It's part of a must-see list of attractions in Darjeeling, including the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Happy Valley Tea Estate, and more.
A unique and serene experience despite the heavy crowds and narrow approach roads. We had to walk most of the way due to traffic, even though it was close to our hotel. But the effort was worth it — the temple and Peace Pagoda are stunning, surrounded by lush gardens and vibrant flowers. The architecture is distinct and peaceful, making it a memorable visit. Ideal for those seeking calm and cultural depth.

Beautiful temple and Peace Pagoda, both located in the same premises. There is no entry fee, and on a clear day, you can also enjoy a stunning view of Kanchenjunga. The place offers a calm and mind-relaxing atmosphere and is definitely a must-visit. However, reaching here can be frustrating due to narrow roads, frequent traffic jams, and limited parking space.

Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, popularly known as Japanese Buddhist Temple, Darjeeling was built in 1972 and is located just beside Peace Pagoda, Darjeeling. Showcasing classic Japanese style of architecture, it has two stories, with the main idol emerging in the 1st floor. This resplendent temple offers visitors a serene and quiet sanctum where they can meditate and seek inner peace.
Debajyoti D — Google review
The best place to find peace. Visit this temple during evening time and feel the good vibes by attending the prayer. The Buddhist prayer and the sound of drums make the place spiritual and pure in a complete manner. You can also enjoy the view of Kanchanjunga from the top of the Pagoda. I highly recommend this place during Darjeeling trip.
Nabarun B — Google review
During my travels through the serene hills of Darjeeling, one place that touched me deeply was the Japanese Buddha Temple, located near the Peace Pagoda. From the moment I stepped into the temple courtyard, flanked by two peaceful lion statues, I could sense the calming energy this place radiates. The clean, minimalist Japanese-style architecture with its bright white walls and red trims offered a unique aesthetic—elegant, spiritual, and welcoming. Inside, the soft chanting of “Nam Myoho Renge Kyo” echoed through the prayer hall, led by monks in rhythmic harmony. As a traveler, I was invited to join in—a rare opportunity that allowed me to truly connect with the spiritual ambiance. Sitting on the floor, eyes closed, repeating the chant in unison with the monks was an incredibly grounding experience. Time seemed to slow down. The temple also acts as a peaceful entry point to the nearby Peace Pagoda, and together they represent a powerful message of global harmony and inner peace. What struck me most was the temple’s simplicity, yet profound sense of sacredness. The surrounding pine-covered hills, crisp mountain air, and distant views of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga only add to the magic. Unlike the crowded tourist spots, the Japanese Buddha Temple offers a quiet space to pause, reflect, and breathe. Whether you're spiritually inclined or simply seeking calm amidst Darjeeling’s vibrant buzz, this temple is a must-visit. It’s not just a destination—it’s a moment of peace.

Darjeeling Japanese peace Pagoda and Japanese Temple is one of the most famous places in Darjeeling West Bengal. Named aptly as 'Peace' Pagoda, the tranquility of the place can hardly be expressed in words. Early morning visit this place gives a divine vibe. We visited early mornings and its prayer time. Japanese peace pagoda is a revered placethath is believed to be the symbol of spirituality and peace. This place is relaxing and calm. All the white colors space gives very pleasing vibes around the area. We stay there around 2-3 hours Thank you 😊

Boneys is a bustling and reasonably priced restaurant located in the heart of town, offering a diverse menu including momos, sandwiches, fried rice, brownies, and noodles. Visitors of all ages frequent this establishment to savor its delicious hot chocolate walnut brownie and strong black coffee. The generous portions make it an ideal spot for both locals and tourists.
Boney’s is a hidden, underrated gem located inside Capital Market, directly opposite Unique Sweets. To find it, head to the Clock Tower on Laden La Road, look for a stairway leading down, and walk down the stairs. The first stop on your left is Boney’s bakery, followed by their restaurant section. In my opinion, Boney’s is the best eatery in Darjeeling. It’s a favorite among locals but remains largely undiscovered by tourists. The menu includes sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, momos, Chinese dishes, and a few continental options—but don’t expect many Indian or Bengali dishes here. What sets Boney’s apart is its unbeatable value for money. The food is tastier and more generously portioned than most well-known eateries in town, all at a lower price point. Every item on their menu is a winner, and I’ve yet to find a dish that disappoints. They also offer delivery to nearby hotels for a small charge, making it a convenient choice for a cozy meal in. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Boney’s is a must-try spot!

Reasonably priced, busy restaurant right at the heart of the town. A variety of eats ( momo, sandwich, fried rice, brownies, noodles, etc) served.People belonging to all age group flock the restaurant. Go for the delicious hot chocolate walnut brownie, it’s yummy! Black coffee was strong and good! The service was good. The noodles portion served is good enough for two. Locals and tourists both visit the restaurant and none would be dissatisfied or disappointed with their service and food. A thriving local business backed by quality.

Authentic food. Reasonable price. For years, this place has enjoyed popularity among the locals. And it recently gained all the deserving attention and praise from the tourists. We had noodles, chicken, and rice. All were tasty and freshly cooked. There is a bakery as well; however, we didn't get a chance to try it. The location is also prime, inside the Capital Market, adjacent to the taxi stand.

Restaurant
Cafe House Darjeeling is a delightful gem that brings a unique twist to the traditional coffee experience, reminiscent of Kolkata's iconic Coffee House. Tucked away in the serene misty mountains, this newly opened cafe promises an unforgettable culinary journey with its delectable snacks and freshly brewed coffee. Located just about a kilometer from Darjeeling's bustling center near Mahakal Lane, it offers visitors a chance to escape the crowds and enjoy some quality time.
A beautiful cafe with the heritage look of Bengal, located at the Observatory View Point in Darjeeling. It's a must-visit place. Cappuccino @ Rs. 163 (4/5) Hot Chocolate @ Rs. 180 (4/5) French Fries @ Rs. 115 (5/5) Chicken Grilled Sandwich @ Rs. 210 (4/5) The portion of crispy fries was ample. The sandwich had a Kolkata club sandwich feel, with nice chunks of chicken. As for the coffee, I don’t understand much about it, but I still liked it.

Located at the calmer corner of Darjeeling, the peaceful ambience is broken only by the local rock music from the region and occasional chit chat. We really enjoyed the hot chocolate here and the sandwiches were very soft and filling. Finally a place in Darjeeling with good hot chocolate! The french fries accompanying the sandwiches were a class of is own.

This cafe is almost 1 kms away from the main hub of Darjeeling near the Mahakal lane. We tried the breakfast here to avoid the hyped keventers and glenarys as those were already visited. Trust me we ordered to combos and the food along with the quantity was sufficient and yum! The view is excellent from here and we were lucky enough to get a clear view of the Himalayan range. We ordered combos : 1. Café Frappe with Pasta Rs.380.00/- 2. Hot chocolate with Chilli Cheese Toast Rs.350/- 3. Ice Cream 1 Scoop Rs.45/- Total price as on 28th December,2024 : Rs. 814/-

I recently visited Cafe House Darjeeling and was completely mesmerized by the beautiful scenic views it offers. Nestled amidst the serene mountains, this cafe provides a captivating backdrop that instantly transports you to a tranquil paradise. The food at Cafe House Darjeeling is simply delightful. From the moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for a treat. Each dish was bursting with flavors and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu is diverse, catering to various tastes and preferences, and the presentation of the dishes is as impeccable as the taste. The service was exceptional, with the staff being attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They were always ready to offer recommendations and made sure I had a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance of the cafe is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a scrumptious meal. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Cafe House Darjeeling is a must-visit. It combines the best of both worlds: stunning scenic views and delectable food. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

Walked to this place from the zoo, which was a good uphill hike. It's very close to the Mall road area. The interiors are super cute. However, on a Friday afternoon around 4, the cafe was completely empty. Food was decent but no healthy options had to settle for chicken nuggets and fries. The view would've been better but for the construction ongoing in front. Good place to sit and chill and enjoy the weather.

NATHMULLS TEA SHOP (SUNSET LOUNGE)

Tea store
Nathmull's Tea Shop, located in Darjeeling Mall, offers a wide variety of top-quality teas, including the famous Darjeeling first flush. The Sunset Lounge provides a stunning view of the hills, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy your tea while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their tea selection, offering recommendations and even conducting a mini tea serving ceremony.
It's a very good destination for Tea lovers. It is situated at Darjeeling Mall. Shop owners behaviour is very good, he explained to us very well. You will get different types of Darjeeling Tea at reasonable price. Purchased one First Flush and Second Flush Darjeeling tea. UPI/Card Payment is accepted here.

The staff was extremely informative and helpful. Even with our vague requests, they managed to come up with the right suggestions from among their wide variety of tea leaves. The shop wasn't crowded and if you chose the right time, you could drink great tree with a view of the mountain ranges. Pretty good darjeeling tea experience.

Amazing Place. Became one of our favorite places to visit in Darjeeling. The staff is quite nice and gave us time to explain the different varieties of teas(we were ignorant). Try the Highland Tea here(their suggestion, became the best we tasted ever). They serve the tea in a nice fashion and we had sort of a mini tea serving ceremony held each time. The pastries are quite nice to go alongside the tea. Pro Tip: After entering, you will find a little stairs just after the cash counter, go downstairs to get the best views(won't be disappointed, I promise). Note: We went during the off season.

This is Natmull's outlet in Mall. They seemed to have moved from the other side of the Mall to where they are now, near to Cafe Coffee Day. Now you get a clear view of the dark green hills and if the weather is clear, you get a view of snow capped mountain as well. Natmull's, as you can expect, has a great range of tea. Indulge yourself in trying few of those before deciding on what you may take away for home. Their bakery items are good too. Also, you may buy gifts - tea, tea pots etc.
Avijit D — Google review
Nice place for a tea lover who understands tea which isnt me. So they allowed us to taste two types of of tea to help us make a choice. The ambience is nice for a coffee shop and the staff helpful. They also send tea via mail order if you email them back.

Sunset Lounge of Nathmull’s is located at Chowrasta at the end of the Mall. One can also call it The Tea Bar as you get to sample a variety of Darjeeling teas before deciding which one to buy. They have a bewildering array of Black, Green and White Darjeeling teas varying in price from ₹400 per kg to ₹30000 per kg. One can also sample the aroma, texture and colour of the tea at the display counter. We relaxed in the Sunset Lounge, which had glass top round tables and cane chairs, adjacent to the Tea Bar, and sampled a cup of their Green Tea which they served up in a transparent tea cup, at a nominal price. One can also order snacks like muffins or pastries to go with the tea. On a clear day one can get an excellent view of the Kanchenjunga mountain and the sunset from the window. One can also buy some memorabilia and tea accessories like decorative and useful tea pots and cups in ceramic as well as metal. In addition there are fancy strainers and Tea Cosies. We purchased some packets of Green and Black teas, and souvenirs like fridge magnets and keychains with the tea motif, as small gifts for our friends back home.

Tiger Hill Observatory, located in Darjeeling, West Bengal, is a renowned sunrise viewpoint offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountains. Situated at an altitude of 2,590 meters, it provides an unparalleled vantage point to witness the stunning spectacle of the first rays of sunlight illuminating the snow-capped peaks of Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga.
Tiger Hill Sunrise Observatory Point is a must-visit destination in Darjeeling, renowned for its spectacular views of the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Located approximately 30 to 40 minutes from the city center, depending on traffic conditions, it is advisable to schedule your visit between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to witness the enchanting first light illuminating the snow-covered peaks. Given Darjeeling's unpredictable weather, it is prudent to carry an umbrella or raincoat, as thick clouds can obscure the majestic Himalayan panorama. During our visit, inclement morning weather compelled us to shift our excursion to the afternoon; however, Tiger Hill still delivered a breathtaking experience. The landscape was remarkable, characterized by layers of forest-covered mountains extending toward the horizon, set against a vibrant blue sky dotted with drifting clouds. The scene evoked a sense of standing within a living masterpiece. The drive to the observatory was equally picturesque, winding through protected forests where one might encounter rare Himalayan wildlife, such as the elusive black bear. The ambiance at Tiger Hill exudes tranquility, offering visitors a deep sense of calm and connection with nature. The cool breeze enhances this serene environment, making it an ideal location to simply relax, appreciate the stunning surroundings, and experience the magic of the mountains. Additionally, local vendors are present, providing cozy woolen caps and shawls for those seeking warmth. In conclusion, whether one arrives for the sunrise or chooses to visit later in the day, Tiger Hill is an unforgettable experience that promises to leave a lasting impression.
Atanu P — Google review
We went there at 4.30am. there were already around 50 cars and hundreds of tourists present before us. There is no observatory here. You just pick a spot and hope to see the view of the mountains especially The Kanchanjunga. If it's a cloudy day then you won't. Pick a place near the North East corner so that you can see the sunrise and the mountain together. There's an under construction building where you can sit as well. There are a few vendors who serve momo, maggie and some tea. TIP : Ask your driver to park the car far so that you can get out of the place soon. Or else it'll take easily around 45 -60 mins just to come out of the traffic jam.

Breathtaking Experience at Sunrise! Tiger Hill is an absolute must-visit when you're in Darjeeling. Waking up early for the sunrise is totally worth it — the view of the first rays hitting the snow-capped peaks of Kanchenjunga is nothing short of magical. On a clear day, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Everest! The crowd gathers quite early, so I recommend arriving before 4:30 AM to get a good spot. Dress warmly, as it gets quite chilly in the early morning. There’s a viewing tower available, but the open hill area has its own charm too. Vendors selling hot tea and snacks nearby really add to the experience — sipping on Darjeeling tea while watching the Himalayas glow orange is unforgettable. The roads up are a bit narrow and winding, so be ready for a bumpy but scenic drive.

A Magical Sunrise Experience! Tiger Hill is truly one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever visited. Watching the sunrise from this viewpoint is nothing short of magical. As the first rays of the sun touch the snow-capped peaks of the Kanchenjunga, the sky lights up with shades of orange, pink, and gold — a sight that stays with you forever. The early morning chill, the peaceful atmosphere, and the panoramic view of the Himalayan range make the entire experience unforgettable. If you're lucky and the sky is clear, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Everest in the distance! The place is well-organized with a dedicated observatory and proper viewing platforms. I highly recommend reaching early to get a good spot and enjoy a cup of hot tea from the local vendors while waiting for nature’s show to begin. A must-visit when in Darjeeling!

Located about a 30–40 minute drive from the main city, it’s famous for offering a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Ideally, you should plan your visit between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to catch the magical first rays lighting up the snow-clad peaks. However, do keep in mind that the weather in Darjeeling can be very unpredictable. If clouds are too dense, the majestic Himalayan view might hide itself away! The spot is peaceful and fills you with a deep sense of calm and wonder. Check for the clouds at around 3am before heading here to get an idea whether you can see the mountains especially the Kanchanjunga. The vehicle management needs to improve. The entire tourist population of Darjeeling will be here with atleast 300 cars on a weekday and more on the weekends. So be ready to walk a bit because your driver will prefer keeping the car at the far end to ease the departure. No official observatory here when I went in the month of October 2025. You'll have some local vendors who serve maggie and momo as well. So enjoy this place and be hopeful that the weather gods bless you

It has details of the mountain railway , some old carts , pictures , parts and chains of old rails and the big old rail route map of the entire place

This is the highest railway station of India. And its the UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you onboard to the Toy Train joy ride from Darjeeling Station then it will be the last stop. You can visit Ghum Museum just beside the railway station. Lovely experience!

Ever since we planned the trip to Darjeeling, I was excited about the Gym station and boarding the toy train. Ghum is really a nostalgic place to hang out. You can spend hours by just looking at the people and trains moving.

The highest railway station in India and 14th highest in the world established during the colonial era in the year 1881which also consists of a museum. We visited ghum railway station on the month of august 2025 during our steam engine Joyride travel from Darjeeling to Ghum and spent about 30mins in ghum. The weather was rainy and cold..so having a cup of milk tea from a shop in the railway station delivered a sort of temporary relief to me. We (turn by turn)clicked many pictures here and there all around the station as we never visited such old station earlier before So collectively this is how we treasured our memory in ghum and its railway station.

Ghum Railway station is under Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. It is the highest railway station of Asia and 14th highest railway station in the World. Also it is the highest heritage station in the world. There is a museum also. You can avail Toy train Journey here. Fair is enlisted in the photos attached below. Nearby visiting places are Ghum monstry and local markets.

On 22nd February 2024, we visited this place. Upon arrival, we were asked to take off our shoes before entering, which added to the calm and respectful atmosphere. As we stepped inside, we were amazed by the soothing music playing in the background. It immediately created a peaceful vibe, and we naturally slipped into a short meditation. A serene and spiritually uplifting place, Ghoom Monastery is one of Darjeeling’s oldest and most peaceful spots. The atmosphere inside the prayer hall feels calm and timeless, with the grand statue of Maitreya Buddha radiating warmth and devotion. The surrounding hills add to the monastery’s quiet charm. There’s also a small gift shop near the entrance selling prayer flags, souvenirs, and locally made items at fair prices. It’s a lovely place to spend some reflective moments and experience the Buddhist heritage of the region. Best visited in the morning before the tourist rush.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ghoom Monastery, Darjeeling A peaceful and beautiful place to visit! 🛕 When I went, it wasn’t crowded at all, which made the experience calm and special 😌. Inside the Buddhist monastery, one of the bhikṣus (monks) kindly called me over and offered me something to eat and drink 🥣🍵—such a heartwarming gesture. They even allowed me to take a photo with them 📸, which made the visit extra memorable. While exploring, I actually saw how they make bags and decorative hanging items 👜🎐. The elderly women working there were so warm and kind—it truly touched my heart ❤️. There’s also a small museum to explore 🖼️📚, which adds more depth to the visit. The locals were friendly and full of stories 😊, and by chatting with them I learned some interesting things about the culture and history 🗣️📖. Oh, and the cute little dogs around the monastery 🐶 were just adorable and super friendly too! A must-visit if you’re in Darjeeling! 🌄🙏✨

Built in 1850, it belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism and holds immense cultural and spiritual significance. The highlight of the monastery is the magnificent 15-foot-high statue of Maitreya Buddha (the future Buddha), which sits at the center of the prayer hall. Dali monastry- important center for Buddhist teachings and meditation, attracting monks and devotees from all over the world established in the year 1971.. One of the best things that happened to me during my visit to darjeeling was at Dali monastry. It was a rainy day in the month of august 2025, we hired a vehicle for sight seeing and returning back from Lamhatta.. as per our driver it was like any other monastry so not to waste our time by visiting it..but since we skipped the tiger hills due to the bad weather so i insisted him to visit Dali monastry atleast for 10 mins..so he agreed ..me along with my wife reached the monastry at about 4pm. The main monastry was at the top as we proceeded upwards we were surprised to reach the area. The monastry was very beautifully built covered with fog at that time(due to the weather) which has further enhanced its beauty.. the sounds of chanting could be heard from inside the main building so we thought it might be restricted to enter during prayers.. so we hurriedly clicked some pictures outside itself and thought to Move out as the driver was waiting in the car.. The sound of chanting attracted me so i moved to the entrance area and was listening to it very cautiously.. a monk noticed me and asked me to enter to inside ..which was not expected..(felt very happy) I didnot think twice and immediately entered ..where i saw about 100’s of monks chanting together.. uttering same words.. some beating the drums and some playing gayling(from mouth).. which collectively was though loud but was very peaceful..all monk were sitting in groups(lanes) i felt like each of them has their own responsibility in the prayer.. they also offered us hot tea amidst the prayer.. It felt like nothing could be more peaceful than sitting inside the prayer hall.. ignoring the drivers continous call we spent inside the hall for about an hour. I wish i could stay there for some more time but bound by the drivers time we decided to leave.. If i had not visited dali monastry that day i would had missed a big day in my life .. It had silently taught me more life lessons which is difficult to describe in words.. so for me its a must visit place 🙏

There’s a scenic view from outside, you can witness whole Darjeeling from there, Beside this there’s a museum where you can find the antique and unique weapon's and things that used to be used on that time. You can see the toy train passing from the main gate of this monastery. One should definitely visit Dali monastery if you’re coming to darjeeling, such a spiritual and happening place.

A Serene Walk and a Lovely Experience at Happy Valley Tea Estate We walked down to Happy Valley Tea Estate from the Botanical Garden, and as we emerged from the alley into the open, we were greeted by breathtaking views of tea plants carpeting the slopes. The trail, lined with graceful Deodhar trees on one side, made the walk even more delightful. After a leisurely kilometre-long walk, we reached the estate around 12:30 pm. July being off-season, there were hardly any tourists, and the factory was relatively quiet as most activity happens in the morning hours. Nevertheless, the staff kindly conducted a tour of the factory, explaining the tea-making process in detail, followed by a tea tasting session. The tour costs ₹100 per person. Happy Valley Tea Estate is definitely worth a visit when in Darjeeling - for its peaceful atmosphere, stunning surroundings and a chance to relish the essence of Darjeeling tea.

Tenzing Rock, located in Darjeeling, is a significant training site for aspiring climbers at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Named after Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, who used to practice climbing on this rock, it holds historical significance as he demonstrated a climb without safety equipment to Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. Climbers can experience a thrilling 40-foot ascent with assistance from an instructor above.
It's a huge natural rockon the main road in Darjeeling. In the memory of World famous rock climber Tenzing Norgay, The man who created history by climbing Mount Everest first time and create world record. As a Indian I was so excited to see the rock and decide to climb. Its not too hard to climb but also not so easy. You will get all the accessories of rock climbing like rope, carabina, safety belt etc at the cost of ₹150.

Great scenic beauty. A mid size rock is there for trekking. Charges 100 rs per head. But the area is small and crowded. Some small shops are associated here for winter clothing, street foods and all. If you are a trekking lover you can definitely visit this place. No doubt this place is beautiful.

It's named after Tenzing Norgay, who, along with Edmund Hillary, was one of the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest. It's a huge natural rock on the main road in Darjeeling. The rock is maintained by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) and is used for rock climbing training. There’s a small walkway where you can enjoy the sight. The view is filled with pine forests, entire valley was lightly covered in mist and fog, which made the place look stunning. It was beautiful, refreshing, and perfect for some nature photography or simply spending a few calm moments away from the crowd. It may be not a large destination, but it's popular and must-visit for who wants a mix of nature, and a bit of mountain spirit in their Darjeeling trip. I purchased some tea from the roadside shop here.
Neegar A — Google review
Tenzing Rock Point is one of the popular stops on the local day tour of Darjeeling, and it's conveniently located close to the main town area, which makes it easily accessible. This spot is named after the legendary mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, and it features a large, steep rock formation standing tall near the edge of a valley. The rock itself may seem simple at first glance, but it holds deep importance in the world of mountaineering and serves as a symbol of strength and achievement. Even if you're not into climbing, the surroundings and the calm atmosphere make this a lovely place to visit. One of the main attractions at Tenzing Rock is the rock climbing experience offered here at a mere cost of INR 100. Right opposite the main rock, there’s a separate hill slope where tourists can try basic climbing under expert supervision. It’s a fun activity for people of all ages who want to try something adventurous during their Darjeeling trip. Sadly, when we visited, the weather was not on our side—it had been raining heavily since morning, and the climbing activities were shut down for safety reasons. So, if you're planning a visit, do check the weather beforehand or keep an umbrella or raincoat handy in case it suddenly turns wet, as it often does in the hills. Even without the adventure activity, the place has its own peaceful charm. There’s a small walkway that takes you to a viewpoint where you can enjoy the sight of the lush green valley below. The view is filled with pine forests, and during our visit, the entire valley was lightly covered in mist and fog, which made the place look straight out of a postcard. It was quiet, refreshing, and perfect for some nature photography or simply spending a few calm moments away from the crowd. Surrounding the area, there are also around 15-20 food stalls that serve hot tea, Maggi, momos, and other quick snacks. Enjoying a hot cup of tea in the cool mountain air, with mist floating around, is a simple pleasure that adds to the whole experience. Tenzing Rock may not be a large or flashy tourist destination, but it's definitely a must-visit for anyone who wants a mix of nature, peace, and a bit of mountain spirit in their Darjeeling trip.

Probably the best vegetarian momos in Darjeeling. They’re juicy, and the chutney is spicy - makes for a great combination. Frequented by school kids, which should also tell you about its VFM. This is a small but an outstanding cafe on the way to the zoo to spend time and relax. Here we got the authentic flavor of Darjeeling tea and momos and the soup was delicious. We enjoyed 'B for T' a millet beer served in a bamboo glass with a bamboo pipe. Also the owners of the cafe were very courteous.

Awesome cafe. The old lady there was too sweet and the taste is marvelous with just a simple lower price. We took black coffe, tea, pancake with honey Thukpa and chow wai wai. The wai and pancake was just yum being homemade. This place has a nice scenario available as well.

One of the best pure veg restaurants near the batasia loop. The waiters are very gentle and humble. Veg Maggie was great. Ambience is good. You can enjoy the hill view from the window of this cafe.

Have limited parking space. Food is mostly cooked fresh and service time is moderate. Have well maintained restroom at ground level only for customers. Restaurant is clean with good decor and excellent Darjeeling Hillside view. 1 star deducted for lack of taste in curries and charging for typically complimentary salads.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Bengal Natural History Museum. Not quite as popular as Tiger Hill, Darjeeling, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Nestled amidst picturesque tea plantations and overlooked by the majestic Kanchenjunga, the charming town of Darjeeling offers a plethora of captivating attractions. Visitors can savor the colonial ambiance while enjoying a pink gin and tonic, explore tea factories, discover museums and zoos, witness the breathtaking Himalayan sunrise, or meander through botanical gardens. The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a must-visit attraction in Darjeeling.
Darjeeling Zoo, officially known as Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, is one of the most unique zoos I’ve ever visited. Nestled on the hilly slopes of Darjeeling, it’s not just a zoo—it feels like a walk through a peaceful, forested sanctuary with crisp mountain air all around. What makes this zoo special is its focus on high-altitude Himalayan animals. You’ll find red pandas, snow leopards, Himalayan wolves, and even a majestic black panther if you’re lucky. The enclosures are pretty spacious, and most of them blend naturally with the surroundings, which makes it feel less like a typical zoo and more like an animal reserve. One of the highlights for me was seeing the red pandas up close—they’re adorable and quite active! The snow leopards, though lazy, were a treat to spot. There’s also a mountaineering institute within the premises that’s worth a quick stop if you’re into adventure history. Walking around the zoo can be a bit tiring since it's on a slope, so comfortable shoes are a must. It’s clean, well-maintained, and offers great photo opportunities, especially on clear days with views of the surrounding hills. Entry fees are very reasonable, and it's a great place for both kids and adults to learn about Himalayan wildlife. I would definitely recommend adding it to your Darjeeling itinerary if you love animals or simply want a peaceful escape for an hour or two.
Ragini B — Google review
One of the best high-altitude zoos in India! Located in the scenic hills of Darjeeling, this zoo is home to rare and endangered Himalayan animals including the red panda, Asiatic black bear, Royal Bengal tiger, white tiger, leopard, and even the elusive snow leopard. The zoo is well-maintained and focused on conservation and breeding programs, especially for red pandas and Himalayan wolves. The enclosures are natural-looking and spacious, though be prepared for a bit of walking uphill due to the hilly terrain. ✅ Must-see: Red panda enclosure, snow leopards, and pheasants. 🌲 Surrounded by serene nature and cool weather – makes the walk enjoyable. 🎟️ Tickets are affordable and you can also visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute inside the same complex.
Debasmita M — Google review
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, better known as the Darjeeling Zoo, is one of the most unique zoos in India and a must-visit while in town. Established in 1958, it is the highest-altitude zoo in the country, located at around 7,000 feet above sea level. Unlike many other zoos, this one specializes in conserving and breeding endangered Himalayan species, which makes it very special. The zoo is home to rare animals such as the Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Wolf, and Clouded Leopard. Seeing these magnificent creatures in a habitat designed close to their natural environment is truly memorable. The enclosures are well-planned and spread out, and the hilly terrain of the zoo itself makes walking through it an experience in nature. The greenery, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings make it very different from crowded city zoos. Another highlight is the adjacent Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), which you can explore along with the zoo. It adds to the overall experience, especially for those interested in trekking and mountaineering history. On the downside, the zoo involves a lot of walking and climbing, which might be tiring for elderly visitors. Also, some enclosures could use better signage and maintenance. Overall, Darjeeling Zoo is an excellent place for families, nature lovers, and anyone curious about Himalayan wildlife. A well-deserved 4-star destination that blends education, conservation, and natural beauty.

A truly unique place!!!!!! We enjoyed a lot here ---we the three friends. Positives 1. Snow Leopard is the main attraction here. 2. Tigers are few in numbers and visible prominently. 3. You can see bear and crocodile from very near. 4. Varieties of deer are available here. 5. Parrot house is another attraction here. 6. Bengal Natural History Museum ####Dont miss it. It is a jem. It is inside the zoo area. But very few people enter her. Negatives 1. Need more species of animals and birds as they are very few in quantity and numbers.
Shovan D — Google review

Dear All Here I am reviewing zoo.. I don't normally go to Zoos as I don't like seeing wild animals in captivity. However, you have have to go through the zoo to get to the mountaineering museum! So, on that basis I am reviewing it. Apparently the red pandas have been successfully bred here and have been released back into the wild. As far as zoos go, this one is particularly beautiful and has used the natural environment for the construction of the enclosures that the animals have been kept in. It was amazing seeing some of the animals close up. PS :- The place has many benches to sit, a small restaurant, clean washrooms too. It's very convenient for travelers. One way road so have to walk much. Must recommend place 👌

The Bengal Natural History Museum, established in 1915, showcases a diverse collection of wildlife specimens. Divided into two main sections, the museum features an array of exhibits including birds with nests and eggs, reptiles, fishes, mammals, insects and more. The taxidermy unit ensures lifelike displays of animals. Visitors can explore a wide range of bird species such as Himalayan Brown Wood Owls and Northern spotted owlets, along with snakes, fishes and butterflies.
Located inside the Darjeeling Zoo, this museum has preserved specimens of thousands of species – insects, animals, birds, reptiles, and other creatures. It’s an awesome place for kids and zoology students to learn and explore. The whole setup is well planned and worth a visit!

The Bengal Natural History Museum in Darjeeling is a hidden gem that beautifully showcases the region's rich biodiversity and natural heritage. This museum is a must-visit for anyone curious about the flora and fauna of the Himalayan region. The exhibits are well-curated, offering an impressive collection of preserved specimens, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects. What stands out is the detailed labeling and classification of these specimens, which makes the experience both educational and fascinating. For nature enthusiasts like me, seeing rare species up close is a rare treat. The museum also highlights the ecological importance of preserving these species, which adds a meaningful layer to the visit. The taxidermy work is skillfully done, making the displays come alive. Additionally, the museum provides insight into the local culture and traditions related to nature conservation. The ambiance is peaceful, and the setting within the lush green hills of Darjeeling adds to its charm. However, the museum could improve its lighting and signage for better visibility and navigation. Overall, the Bengal Natural History Museum offers a delightful mix of education and appreciation for nature, making it an ideal stop for families, students, and wildlife lovers. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Darjeeling.

There also a museum, which has an immense collection of mountaineering equipment, scales of the mountain range and anything and everything in between. Everything is very well presented. It was good to know that Tenzing was associated with HMI. They also have his shrine. Malavath Poorna is the youngest girl in the world to have climbed Mount Everest Is also trained in this institute.

As I stood at the institution in Darjeeling, the Himalayas unfolded before me like a canvas of breathtaking beauty. The snow-capped peaks, majestic and towering, seemed to defy gravity, their rugged grandeur softened by the gentle caress of mist. The mountains' serene silence was punctuated only by the sweet songs of birds and the rustle of leaves, creating a symphony that resonated deep within my soul. The Himalayas are a masterpiece of nature, crafted over millions of years by the patient hands of wind, water, and ice. As I gazed upon their majestic form, I felt the weight of their ancient history, the stories of civilizations past etched into every rock and valley. The institution, nestled in the heart of this natural wonder, seemed a haven for those seeking knowledge and adventure. The Himalayas near Darjeeling are a haven for the senses. The scent of rhododendrons and pine wafted through the air, mingling with the earthy aroma of the forest floor. The taste of local tea, rich and full-bodied, was a perfect complement to the stunning views. As I sipped my tea, I felt the stress of the world melt away, replaced by a sense of tranquility and awe. The institution's surroundings offer a wealth of opportunities for exploration and discovery. From trekking and mountaineering to birdwatching and photography, there's something for every kind of adventurer. As I watched the sun set over the Himalayas, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson, I felt grateful to be in this enchanting location. In the evening, as the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, the Himalayas took on a mystical quality. The mountains seemed to whisper secrets to the wind, their ancient wisdom carried on the breeze. As I stood there, enveloped by the majesty of the Himalayas, I felt a deep sense of connection to the natural world. The Himalayas near Darjeeling are a treasure trove of natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventure opportunities. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or simply someone seeking inspiration, the Himalayas are sure to leave you spellbound. As I left the institution, I carried with me memories of the majestic Himalayas, their grandeur and beauty forever etched in my mind.

Invaluable tourist spot in Darjeeling. Great place to view the glorious attempts to climb the tallest mountain peaks in India and Nepal. We also get the opportunity to see the various gear used by the countless mountaineers in their attempts to climb them. There are also the statues of Tenzing Sherpa and Edmund Hillary. We pause there in awe as we recollect their heroic feat. The entire process of mountaineering is described in detail there. There are several magnificent photographs too.

An absolute gem for anyone interested in mountaineering, adventure, or Himalayan history. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is not only well-maintained but also deeply inspiring. The museum section is filled with fascinating exhibits, including gear used by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. The location is scenic, nestled near the Darjeeling Zoo, with a backdrop of the Himalayas. Great for families, students, or solo travelers. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and the entire experience is both educational and enriching. Don’t miss the mountaineering wall, training areas, and the tribute to Tenzing Norgay — it truly reflects the spirit of adventure that Darjeeling is known for. Highly recommended!

Notable street
Mall Rd in Darjeeling is a picturesque 1-mile pedestrian loop that offers stunning mountain views and shaded benches for relaxation. This road, reminiscent of British-settled hill stations in India, starts from Chowrasta Square and winds around Observatory Hill, passing historical buildings from the British Raj era. Along the way, visitors can admire lush greenery and snow-capped Himalayan peaks while stopping by St.
This is the heart of Darjeeling. You can easily spend time with family and friends for a long time. This place is really pleasant. Beautiful property overlooking the mall. O have stayed four days and really enjoyed my stay here. What I like most is they preserve the natural environment here.. so serene and peaceful.. you can enjoy the chirping of birds as well the sound of the mahakal temple bell. The whole decoration of this property gives a vibe of peacefulness. The staffs are well behaved , food is good.. What can I expect more!! Will stay again..

A great heritage hotel with a legacy and a story to tell. The property exudes old-world charm, complemented by a beautiful restaurant with live music and a thoughtfully curated aesthetic. Its convenient location—right next to the mall—makes exploring Darjeeling effortless. Throughout the property, there are quite a few charming nooks and corners that invite you to pause and soak in the atmosphere—a treat for those who love places with character. What truly stands out is the visible effort from the staff (special mention of the ever smiling security guards and field staff) to make tourists feel welcome and comfortable, reflecting the warmth and hospitality Darjeeling is known for. This hotel isn’t for those seeking a modern bed-and-breakfast setup or a luxurious stay. Instead, it’s perfect for travelers who wish to connect deeply with Darjeeling’s nostalgic spirit, its culture, and its people. Maybe, a little more intent from the management toward upkeep—especially in improving accessibility features in the washrooms and pathways for elderly guests, and the restaurant food needs an upgrade, some of the older carpets need to be hanged on the wall if they have to be retained—would make the experience even more delightful.

This is a beautiful vintage hotel located right besides the mall road. The location is central, so its convinient for all the sightseeing. The property exudes old world charm. The rooms are cute and cozy and transport you to older times. The restaurant has serene views of the hills and serve extremely delicious food. The food was prepared intricately.. Loved the sit down breakfasts instead of buffet. Everything was perfect. The most important part is the staff which is extreamely courteous. Dipiksha and Srushti from the front desk were extremely helpful.. Just a small complaint that the rooms could be better maintained to add to the charm of this place..

Windamere Hotel, Darjeeling : A Colonial Gem with Heartfelt Hospitality We recently spent three nights at the Windamere Hotel, nestled on Observatory Hill in Darjeeling, and it was, in many ways, a journey back in time. From the moment one steps into the estate, there’s an unmistakable sense of stepping into a bygone era, where “Atithi Devo Bhava” meets old-world Nepalese grace. The hotel delivers a near-perfect recreation of colonial-era hospitality, right down to the smallest details. Meals were an absolute highlight. Breakfast was not merely served but curated, with staff attentively enquiring whether eggs should be hard-boiled for three or eight minutes, poached in water, or done sunny side up. Such meticulousness extended to lunch and dinner, where the culinary finesse truly shone. Standout dishes included the rich and flavourful fish masala curry, delightfully crispy honey chicken, and perfectly spiced chilli prawns. The kitchen has clearly mastered its repertoire. The rooms were well-appointed and carried the hotel’s vintage charm with grace. Room service was prompt and efficient, with staff who went above and beyond, not just in service, but in spirit. Their warm smiles weren’t just polite; they felt genuine, and it showed in their attentiveness and enthusiasm. The hotel’s location is another plus, just a short walk to Chowrasta, which almost feels like an extended courtyard from the property’s entrance. Despite the proximity, the ambience remains serene and romantic, enhanced by the daily rituals of the hill and the lingering scent of incense and conifers. That said, one area for improvement would be in the coordination at the pre-arrival stage. The attention to booking details and the initial call could benefit from a more streamlined approach, ensuring the welcome matches the warmth that follows. A final, charming quirk: the ‘Hounds of Windamere’, two white, Tintin-like Snowy dogs, were delightful companions around the property, adding a touch of playful elegance to the estate. Of course, one must be mindful of the occasional monkey intrusions, curious visitors who tend to appear if windows are left open, but they do little to disturb the Windamere’s immersive colonial charm. All told, Windamere isn’t just a stay; it’s an experience. Romantic, nostalgic, and utterly sincere.

A heritage and antique place. Lovely place, excellent location, both close to Mahakal mandir and the Mall. A mesmerizing view and the furniture and rooms are vintage. It was so nice visiting this nostalgia. You can drop in at the restaurant.

Had a stay in this colonial hotel, situated in prime location in front of Mall...Quite dissatisfied with Breakfast buffet spread menu, which is unexpected from Windamere which is renowned for its rich British legacy. We faced internet and electricity issues.Power back up and wifi need to be improved...Had a dream to stay in windamere but quite dissolutioned..Normally we stay in Hotel Elgin which proves to be much better than windamere in terms of utilization of money and overall quality..The new management should pay more attention on quality control, before it becomes too late..Staff are very helpful and cordial..Wishing for quick recovery of your lost heritage 'Windamere.'.

We had the pleasure of dining at the Sundeck rooftop Cafe and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance captivated us with its cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. With a beautiful view of the valley adding to the charm, it truly felt like a serene escape. We started our culinary journey with the Peri Peri fries, which were a delightful combination of crispy and spicy flavors. The Bruschetta, a special dish by the cafe, was a burst of freshness that tantalized our taste buds. However, the highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the chicken Momos. Bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked, they were an absolute delight. Each bite was a journey of deliciousness that left us craving for more. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, the Grilled Chicken made its appearance. Juicy, succulent, and bursting with flavor, it was the perfect ending to our meal. The quantity and quality of the dishes were top-notch, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. Overall, Sundeck rooftop cafe exceeded our expectations in every aspect. From the delectable food to the cozy ambiance and stunning view, it's a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Can't wait to visit again!

A serene setting, great food. Beautifully decorated and warm and friendly staff. The Sun Deck is a must for all who wish to have a great meal in a silent and serene surrounding overlooking the valley. If you are visiting Darjeeling this place demands a visit. A few paces from the Rangmanch, not much of steep climb ups and downs. I enjoyed all my four visits during the last 8 days in Darjeeling. I rate it a good 9 on 10. Suggest adding a bit more to the menu.

Chowrasta Darjeeling is a bustling center of the city, serving as a meeting point of four roads. It offers stunning views of the Khangchendzonga mountain peak and is surrounded by beautiful natural ingredients such as green tea gardens and mesmerizing landscapes. Visitors can engage in various activities like visiting the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, exploring the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, and experiencing the vibrant Darjeeling Carnival.
Wonderful place to hangout and walk. I went to Darjeeling for a holiday. This place is part of the mall road. Apparently, Mall road is very lengthy and Britishers used it for walking is what I got to know from my taxi driver. This particular chowrasta has a big open air theatre, fountains, small tea shops, and some benches to rest. One can have a good view of the hills and pine tree though a lot of power lines cross cross it. If one further takes a walk down the mall road, there are a lot of shops and landmarks of Darjeeling.

It is a junction for all roads leading from/to Gandhi road. Very busy streets at Evenings. Lloyd Botanical Garden, also known as Lloyd's Botanical Garden of Darjeeling, is a nature preserve located near Chowk Bazaar in Darjeeling. Established in 1878, it spans 40 acres and features a diverse range of indigenous Himalayan plants as well as exotic species from around the world. Visitors can explore walking paths amidst over 2,500 orchids, cacti, weeping willows from China and Japan, and a stunning rock garden.
A great place for a leisurely nature walk with the trails marked with trees and birds. Better to have an entire afternoon admiring nature and our place in it. With the area that this is spread across, it would be a shame to rush through it all and that is perhaps why it is usually free from tourists looking for a five (or seven!) point sightseeing tour. The maps printed at the corners might be difficult to understand but that adds to the adventure!

Lloyd Botanical Garden is a hidden gem that offers a refreshing retreat from Darjeeling’s bustling tourist spots. It’s perfect for nature enthusiasts, botany lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful afternoon surrounded by greenery. Walking through the garden feels like stepping into a green sanctuary. It's quiet, peaceful and ideal for a leisurely stroll. The orchid house is a must visit, with over 150 types of exotic orchid during spring.

Lloyd Botanical Garden is really a very beautiful botanical garden. Actually the space of this garden is very big so you would get a bit confused. Where should you go, should you go here or there. But if you are coming for a picnic, if you are coming with your family, you must definitely visit here for a picnic. The tickets are only for ₹15 to ₹20. But after going to this place you will feel as if you have paid ₹500 for this ticket. It is a very lovely botanical garden. You must definitely visit here and it is very beautiful flowers, very nice road, you will find very nice people. Now you can definitely go here and spend one, two-three hours comfortably here.

Lloyd Botanical Gardens is a serene gem tucked away in Darjeeling, full of natural beauty and quiet charm. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Alok Tiwari, the beat officer there—a gem of a person himself. As a beat officer, he oversees and protects this section of the forest and gardens, ensuring its preservation. Talking to him was both insightful and enjoyable; he shared fascinating details about the garden’s history and biodiversity. It turned into more than just a visit—it felt like a shared moment of appreciation for nature and heritage.

A quiet spot in Darjeeling with some interesting specimen trees and lots of green and rest spots. Some of the gardens like the herb garden are neglected and not clear anymore. Quite hilly, like all of Darjeeling, could be a wonderful a great spot with a bit more maintenance of gardens and facilities. Better in spring for flowers I'd say.

Batasia Loop ㅤ

(1630)
Batasia Loop is a fascinating stop along the Siliguri-Darjeeling route, situated below Ghoom Railway Station. This engineering marvel from the British era was designed to ease the steep descent for trains passing through Ghoom station on their journey to Darjeeling. Observing the miniature train navigate around this circular track is a delightful experience for visitors.
Before few day’s ago me with my loving family visited the iconic Batasia Loop in Darjeeling, a scenic wonder along the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, where the toy train winds through lush greenery and panoramic Mountain View’s. You can wear beautiful costumes for rent rs 50. You can easily spend 30 minutes to 1 hour here. . The toy train halts here briefly, allowing passengers to experience the mesmerizing landscape and capture stunning photographs. This was such a beautiful experience.
Neegar A — Google review
Batasia Loop in Darjeeling is a fascinating blend of engineering marvel, natural beauty, and cultural charm. Located about 5 km from the town, this iconic railway loop is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, built to negotiate steep gradients in the hilly terrain. Watching the famous toy train wind its way through the perfectly curved track, with the majestic Kanchenjunga range as the backdrop, is a sight that delights both railway enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The loop is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens filled with vibrant flowers, manicured lawns, and walking paths, making it a peaceful spot to stroll and enjoy the crisp mountain air. At the center stands a war memorial dedicated to the Gorkha soldiers who sacrificed their lives in various wars post-independence. The monument, with its solemn atmosphere, adds historical significance to the scenic location. On clear days, Batasia Loop offers sweeping panoramic views of Darjeeling town and the snow-clad peaks beyond. Local vendors selling tea, snacks, and souvenirs add a friendly, lively touch to the visit. The early morning is the best time to experience the place, especially when the toy train passes through. Batasia Loop is more than just a stopover—it’s a picturesque and meaningful part of Darjeeling’s heritage that captures the region’s spirit perfectly.
SK R — Google review
We visited Batasia Loop in the morning, and it was an unforgettable experience. The entry ticket is ₹50 per person, which is absolutely worth it. The sky was crystal clear that day, allowing us to enjoy a stunning view of the majestic Kanchenjunga right from the spot. The beautifully landscaped gardens, the iconic spiral railway track, and the peaceful atmosphere made the visit even more special. A must-visit place in Darjeeling, especially in the morning when the views are at their best.
Sohail S — Google review
Batasia Loop is an average spot that doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The views are decent, but not particularly unique compared to other scenic locations nearby. The biggest downside is that it’s overly crowded, especially during peak hours, which takes away from the experience. There isn’t much to do apart from a quick stop for photos, and facilities around the area are minimal. Overall, it’s okay for a short visit, but not worth going out of your way for.
Dr R — Google review
A Must-Visit Icon of Darjeeling! Batasia Loop is one of the most iconic and scenic spots in Darjeeling. Watching the toy train take a wide, graceful loop around the beautifully landscaped garden is a treat — especially with the mighty Kanchenjunga towering in the background on a clear day. It’s not just a railway marvel but also a peaceful place to spend some time. The area is well maintained with a lovely garden, a war memorial honoring Gorkha soldiers, and small shops offering local snacks, tea, and souvenirs. It’s a photographer’s paradise — the panoramic views of the mountains and the town are breathtaking.

Standing at Batasia Loop, I was mesmerized by the breathtaking sight of Kanchenjunga rising majestically against the clear blue sky. The snowclad peaks glistened in the morning light, casting a golden glow that seemed almost unreal. The serene curve of the railway track at Batasia framed the view perfectly, making the mighty mountain appear even more enchanting. The fresh breeze, the quiet hum of nature and the panoramic backdrop of Darjeeling’s hills made the moment unforgettable.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Fiesta Restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic, creating the perfect setting to socialize with friends. They even have separate areas for larger groups. I tried their cappuccino and lime soda, finding the cappuccino to be satisfactory in terms of taste, but it came in a generous portion in a large mug. On the other hand, the lime soda was outstanding both in flavor and quantity. Additionally, they offer light snacks to complement your beverages.
Delicious food, excellent service, and a fantastic location. It's absolutely worth the reasonable wait for their hot, freshly cooked dishes. Don't miss: the cold coffee with chocolate ice cream.

★★★★☆ Fiesta Restaurant is a cozy spot on Mall Road with a nice view and a diverse menu. I tried the Chicken Sandwich, which was nicely toasted and well-filled, and the Veg Thukpa that came steaming hot and full of flavor—perfect for the cool Darjeeling weather. The highlight was definitely the juicy Chicken Momos, served with a spicy chutney that packed a punch. The White Sauce Pasta was creamy, well-cooked, and surprisingly delicious. Overall, a great experience with tasty food at reasonable prices—just a bit of a wait, which is why it's a 4 and not 5-star.

Fiesta Restaurant is located right on the mall and an excellent place for people watching. Watch the world and ride on ponies go past and enjoy the outdoor dining area. I stopped by for a late light lunch of fried veg momos (150 rupees for 6 pieces). Service was super friendly, price was a little higher given the smaller portion size - but you are paying for the premium location. The momos were good. The sauce they were served with was pretty spicy! The interior of the restaurant was really nice to and there seems to be a resident cat that just chills out on the stairs.

Good location, average food Fiesta has a great spot right on Mall Road with nice outdoor seating and a relaxing view of the Chowrasta area. However, the food was quite average for the price. I tried the American chopsy — they were okay, but nothing special. Service was a bit slow, and there was no restroom access, which was disappointing. Decent place for a quick stop, but not a must-visit.

Fiesta, situated upon the esteemed Mall Road in Darjeeling, a most agreeable experience awaits. Warm and delectable viands are served with utmost aplomb, whilst the ambrosial aroma of freshly baked confections wafts through the air, tantalising the senses. The staff attend to every whim with utmost solicitude. Fiesta is a veritable culinary haven, deserving of the highest accolades.

Fiesta in Darjeeling is a nice place to sit and relax — whether you’re alone or with a couple of friends. We visited this place for lunch. Got a table with a nice view. The food here was average. We had: Veg thupka- This lacked flavour and I would not recommend Chole with lachha paratha- The parathas were great. The chole was good too. I would recommend this as a safe option for vegetarians The extensive non veg menu can be a put off for pure vegetarians. Staff is very sweet and helpful.

We have wait 30 minutes for getting a seat and any 15 mins for food. We have ordered 2 chicken thali and fish thali. I must say the Resturant serves food well hot and good portion for veg thali. But if you want to hove non veg then it may not be of liking as per the popularity the Resturant is not up to the mark on our expectations. The menu is quite pocket friendly then other Resturant in the vicinity. I would suggest if you want to have food here you much go abit early to get a sit to enjoy the meal with family. If you like quite dinning place you could search for other Resturant.

Hotel Mahakal is located very close to Darjeeling mall road. It is one of the most popular Bengali cuisine restaurant among the visitors. Bengali veg thali starts from Rs. 110/-, it also offers special veg thali, fish thali, chicken thali, mutton thali. Besides, thali, you can order chowmin, roti and other indian cuisine. Price is reasonable. Taste is okay type...not bad, but nothing extraordinary. But, the restaurant generally has a long queue, specially in peak tourist season. So you should take enough time in your hand to get in to the restaurant. Due to overcrowding sometimes service gets delayed. Overall, you can try this restaurant when you visit Darjeeling.

By seeing the reviews we thought the food would be good, but we were disappointed. The taste was ok okish, we tried tocal talli. The atmosphere is not that great and it's a bit untidy, maintenance and service should be improved a lot. The prices are fine but we were not satisfied with the food. I would not recommend this place and we have a lot of good restaurants nearby.

We visited there for lunch and I have to say that every item on the thali was great! The price is also reasonable. If you are missing the bengali মাছ - ভাত or any other bengali dish i highly recommend visiting here! Happy fooding 😃

Over the span of three days, we dined multiple times at Mahakal Restaurant and tried a wide variety of dishes including egg thali, veg thali, chicken bharta, dal makhani, ruti, mixed veg, chicken noodles, chilli chicken, and more. The food was absolutely delicious and consistently flavorful, showcasing authentic taste and good preparation. However, the quantity served felt a bit insufficient for the price, which was slightly higher than expected. The place is always crowded, reflecting its high demand, and it can get a bit chaotic during peak hours. Located conveniently in the main mall area, Mahakal has several other branches under its chain, which speaks to its popularity. Despite the rush and slightly premium pricing, the overall experience was satisfying, and it’s clear why this restaurant enjoys such a loyal customer base.

Well decorated, well maintained, well behaved, systematically managed all things but the best part is food is very besic quality, not up to the mark. This is my first and last time visit here. Please focus on your food quality and test. For this reason we customers are came to here.
SUBRATA D — Google review
Was recommended by the locals there. Also, the place always had a huge line be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Visited recently. We tried the Complimentary fryums, Veg thali (Bengali style), Paneer Butter Masala, Chicken Biryani, Veg Fried Rice, Chicken Thukpa, Laccha Paratha. All the dishes had good presentation. Starting with the thali, no doubt it was authentic Bengali style thali, the taste was great. The Paneer Butter Masala was a bit sweet but tasted good. The Chicken Biryani looked the best but tasted average, the aroma was great but the taste was not that good. The Laccha paratha was nice. The Veg Fried rice was simple and best, but the Chicken Thukpa was great, it was in a huge quantity and was absolutely delicious. We ate at the ground floor, there is one more floor downstairs but it is preferred to eat upstairs. The ambience and atmosphere is good upstairs. The service is quick even in the rush hours. Overall, if you wanna try authentic Bengali food or good Chinese food, then you can definitely visit this place. Recommended ⭐⭐⭐

Shrubbery Nightingale Park

Park
Shrubbery Nightingale Park, located in Darjeeling, West Bengal, is a serene public park with landscaped gardens and benches. It features a large statue of Lord Shiva and was once the private courtyard of Sir Thomas Tartan's Bungalow during the British Raj. Despite being destroyed in an earthquake in 1934, it remains a popular spot for visitors and locals to enjoy stunning views of the Kanchenjunga peaks.
Very beautiful. 9am to 5 pm. Ticket entry 25₹ . However be careful with the 5rs. Scam that happens at ticket counter. He hides 5 rs. And says he doesn't have change and demands you to pay 30₹. The garden is very nice and must spend time with good benches also put. You can easily spend couple of hours here, just relaxing. There are some walki g trails that goes downwards also. Near the washroom area

Shrubbery Nightingale Park is a peaceful, green retreat in Darjeeling with lovely lawns, colorful flowers, and a striking Shiva statue by a small lake. It’s just a short walk from the Mall, costs INR 25 to enter, and is open 8 AM-8 PM. Great for a quick, relaxing stroll or picnic. Sadly, when we visited, clouds blocked the Kanchenjunga views, which was a letdown. The toilets were also unclean, which made the experience less pleasant. Still, it’s a nice spot for some calm if the weather cooperates!

Peaceful place. I have visited there in all seasons and you will find it's unique beauty in every season. During Spring you will be able to watch many beautiful flowers, during monsoon it will give u a haunting feeling. Great place to spend couple of hours

One of the best parks I have been to and that too with a view that kills! You will be able to find a wide range of flowers, most of which you'll probably see for the first time. They do have a temple at the top and a fountain which was not working when I visited. Plenty of greenery to sit, soak up the nature and recharge. Do definitely visit this place to at least just chill around. They do have an entry fee of 25 per person I think

An absolute delight to visit this awesome park on the way to Darjeeling Zoo from the Darjeeling Mall. For a small fee, you will get to enjoy this well maintained park. I visited on a cloudy day, but on a clear day you may get to see the surrounding valley. Cafe and washrooms are available. Don’t skip this park.
Sundaram D — Google review
The park itself is good. But the view point is not as good. Lack of maintenance! I'm not sure about the peak season. Just before diwali the condition is not good.

A Serene Escape at Shrubbery Nightingale Park If you're looking for a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Darjeeling town, Shrubbery Nightingale Park is the perfect spot. Nestled amidst lush greenery and offering mesmerizing views of the Kanchenjunga range, this beautifully maintained park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. Scenic Beauty & Atmosphere The park is well-landscaped with manicured lawns, vibrant flowers, and charming pathways, making it an ideal place for a relaxing stroll. The fresh mountain air and the tranquil environment create a perfect setting for unwinding. The highlight, of course, is the stunning panoramic view of Kanchenjunga, especially on a clear day. Evening Cultural Performances One of the best things about visiting in the evening is the traditional cultural performances, including folk dances that showcase the rich heritage of the region. This adds a unique charm to the experience and makes it a great spot to enjoy Darjeeling's cultural essence. Ideal for Relaxation The park has plenty of seating areas, making it a great place to sit back and soak in the breathtaking views. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, it's an excellent spot to relax and take in the beauty of nature. Final Verdict Shrubbery Nightingale Park is a peaceful, scenic, and culturally rich place to visit in Darjeeling. Whether you're looking to enjoy a quiet afternoon or an evening with traditional performances, this park is definitely worth a visit. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

A peaceful and colorful escape in Darjeeling! 🌸🌿 Shrubbery Nightingale Park is full of vibrant flowers and calm open spaces. I’ve shared a few images here, but for the full video and many more moments, check out my YouTube and Instagram: @iamaloknath. 🎟️ Entry Fee: ₹25 – totally worth it! 🍽️ There’s a canteen inside the park. I had their paratha with chutney — and it was genuinely superb. Would recommend giving it a try. 🌄 There’s also a viewpoint near the canteen from where you can see Kangchenjunga if the sky is clear. Unfortunately, it was cloudy during my visit. 🪑 Lots of benches, lawn space, and peaceful corners to relax. A great spot for families and kids too. 🌺 If you enjoy flowers and plants, you’ll love the variety here. 📍It’s also very close to Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. Overall, a must-visit place in Darjeeling. ✅ Feedback to Management: The park is beautiful — maintaining plant labels or adding flower name boards would really help visitors learn more. Keep up the great work!

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute Museum is located within the grounds of the Pachmaka Naidu Zoo. The museum details the history of manned exploration of the highest peaks on Earth. The photographs and artefacts are interesting and professionally presented. The mountain dioramas are especially good. Unfortunately no photography is allowed inside. Outside is the final resting place of first to climb Everest - Tenzing Norgay.

Best part of my day was spent here. The pictures aren't allowed inside. So I couldn't take any. But I'll brief on what exactly made my experience here a memorable one. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is one of the premium institutes in India. You may as well call it the IIT of mountaineering. We met an administrative officer, who explains us about the institute, his own experience and about the students. The stories were chilling and mind blowing. Now coming to the museum. You'll see the equipment and the rug sacks carried by The great Tensing Norgay, Sir Edmond Hillary, the paper cut outs of the Legendary mountaineers and their life. You need atleast 1.30 hours to read all these. See the photos. Check out the Himalayan Range simulators. You'll definitely feel so small in front of these mountains and these OG mountaineers. This is a place for goosebumps and inspirational. A must visit. Entry fee is Rs 110 including the visit to the Zoo and the HMI.

If you want to climb Himalaya, then you need to get trained here. Place is for both, tourist as well as trainee ( mount climbers). Learn the history and about great Mr Tenzin. Tourist not allowed at trainee spot, but they have a small paid set for some climbing 🧗‍♂️ experience, do try it. Museum is big and well maintained. They have showed what it takes to climb one of the biggest mountains in world. You might find some souvenirs.

Joey's Pub, formerly a traditional British-style pub in a bungalow, has now relocated to the first floor of a modern building. Despite its updated look, the old pub run by Puran Gongba was what originally garnered its reputation. Nestled away from the touristy streets of Darjeeling, this cozy bar exudes colonial charm with its wooden interiors and offers a retreat for weary explorers.
Nice old rock and jazz feel. Liked this place in Darjeeling. It’s worth the price and good atmosphere. Must try.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a wonderful time at Joys Pub. The atmosphere is lively yet cozy, making it a perfect place to hang out with friends. The music, the vibe, and the friendly service made the evening really enjoyable. We spent some great quality time together, and everything from the food to the drinks was just right. Definitely one of the best spots in town to relax and have fun with friends. Highly recommended!

The ambiance here is quite cool and holds a lot of potential, but unfortunately, the overall experience was significantly let down by the service and atmosphere management. When we visited, the place was completely empty and there was no music playing until we walked in. The most disappointing part was the owner's attitude, who seemed uninterested and quite rude. It's sad to see a pub with such a nice setting being wasted due to a clear lack of effort and poor customer service. I hope they can improve their hospitality and liven up the space.

I recently visited Joey’s Pub in Darjeeling and had a really pleasant experience. The place has a warm and welcoming vibe and is conveniently located on the 1st floor of the building opposite Rink Mall. The senior lady at the bar was extremely courteous and attentive. I was checking out their white wine, which wasn’t chilled at that moment, but she immediately took the initiative to get it chilled for me. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay long enough to try it this time, but I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to enjoy it properly. Overall, a very nice and friendly spot — perfect for relaxing after exploring the town. Highly recommended! 🍷

Nestled in the heart of Darjeeling, the Himalayan Tibet Museum stands as a vibrant tribute to Tibetan culture and history. This captivating museum is not just a collection of artifacts; it’s an immersive experience that delves into the rich tapestry of Tibetan life, traditions, and spirituality. Visitors can explore an array of exhibits, including a stunning 3-D model of the Himalayas and various artworks that reflect the essence of this unique heritage.
The Himalayan Tibetan Museum is an amazing place that holds a treasure trove of Tibet's history, much of which I wasn’t aware of before visiting. The museum is very well maintained, and the exhibits are thoughtfully presented. The best part is that everything is explained in English as well, making it accessible to a broader audience. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn more about Tibet's rich culture and history!

The Himalayan Tibet Museum is an unexpected hidden gem in Darjeeling. Only 50 rupees to enter and you could easily spend an hour here and still not read everything. What is most impressive is the interior decoration. Beautifully painted beams, diaromas and displays. A scale model of Potala Palace as soon as you enter. The museum covers Tibetan Buddhism, the Tibetan people and the life and times of the Dalai Lama. The basement floor is a life history and photographs of the current Dalai Lama. Staff here are super friendly. Well worth the visit.

A peaceful and eye-opening place. I randomly stumbled upon the Himalayan Tibet Museum while walking near Mall Road – and I’m so glad I did. It’s a small but beautiful space filled with Tibetan culture, history, and spirituality. You’ll see thangka paintings, prayer wheels, Buddha statues, old photographs, and even a 3D map of Tibet. Everything is arranged with so much care and meaning. The lady at the counter was very kind and explained a few things with such passion—it really added to the experience. It’s quiet inside, very calming, and makes you feel connected to something deeper. Spent about 30–40 minutes here. The ticket is just ₹50 per person, which is honestly nothing for the kind of peace and learning you get in return. If you’re in Darjeeling and want a short break from the crowd, do visit. It’s not a “big” museum, but it leaves a big impact.

St. Paul's School, located near Jalapahar in Darjeeling, offers a unique paragliding experience with flights launching from the school and landing at Lebong Ground. The breathtaking aerial views encompass the town, tea gardens, and mountain peaks. Established in 1823 to cater to the British and Anglo-Indian communities in Calcutta, this historic institution moved to Darjeeling in 1863.
Darjeeling is steeped in history and one of the most historic properties in this beautiful town is the iconic St Paul’s Darjeeling. The idea for an #AngloIndian school was conceived way back in 1823, yes 200 years ago, to meet the needs of the British and Anglo-Indian communities in Calcutta. The school was originally set up in the city of joy itself on Park Street. It moved to #Darjeeling in 1863 to an estate purchased for a ₹45,000 roughly about $550. Later it expanded and moved to #JalPahar where it now stands, strong and stately. Today, number 1 in Bengal and among the leading schools in india, it is home to over 750 students from all over the world.

St. Paul's School is a private boarding school for boys in the town of Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. It is known as "Eton of the East" because it is thought to follow the similar cultural and traditional values of Eton College. St. Paul's is one of the oldest public schools in Asia. Entrance tests for admission are held every September. The school follows the ICSE curriculum until class 10 and the ISC curriculum for classes 11 and 12.

One of the oldest school in Darjeeling with nice architecture and large campus. Can’t comment much on the education system as I am not an alumni or not even remotely related to one, however I have heard good things about the school. It has been shooting location for a lot of Bollywood movies too. I was there to explore the campus. Loved the architecture, the church and the large trees!

It's the best school in the continent. This school has a glorious past that superseded it's beauty. The nature and scenic view of this school is breathtaking. It's situated at the top of the Jalapahar in Darjeeling district. Students from each corner of the country as well as from abroad come here for study. The education system and the disciplined life they give builds a child's future. The infrastructure is very nice as seems like a British castle and the shape of the buildings is very nice to watch. When you are in Darjeeling, must pay a visit at St Paul's school.

Best in class school boarding school. One of the most reputed school in the north east. The MAIN HOON NAA film shooting in which shahruk Khan appeared in lead role with susmita sen was done here. It's a school but in that film it was shown as a college. It remains close during winter time from December to 1st week of February. Before father were there and they use to teach the students. But now smart teachers are there. School us quite costly. Most of the students here are from outside states like Delhi , Mumbai , Kolkata etc...the local students of Darjeeling are very less. Visited this place to purchase tea at their outlet. Owner was very helpful and explained the difference between the tea he was selling vis a vis what we get in normal market. It is a 3rd generation owner and he took time to walk ur through the varieties. One can get amazing varieties raning from 200₹ to 1700₹ and one can smell the difference between the varieties. They do courier it outside across the country too. Overall a well outlined shop for tea buying.

Great place to buy Darjeeling tea. Seller will explain everything if you have doubts about different tea leaves and its' pricing. You can also smell teas before buying. One of the suggested places to buy tea in Darjeeling.

Worst experience ever. Today I & my husband went to this place for breakfast around 9:30 a.m. Only 1 aged person was present there. We ordered 2 cup of Milk tea and 4 pc of bread butter. The old person ordered the bread butter over phone. After few minutes another young guy came with 4 breads in a plate. Instead of giving butter, they toasted the breads in poor quality oil / dalda. And for that they have charged Rs. 20/- per bread. Initially we didn't realized as we were in hurry. After few hours later my health deteriorated and I felt like Vomitting.

Best place to taste the real Darjeeling tea. It a waste of time if you haven't visited this place and did a trip around Darjeeling. Teas ranging from exotic yo home grown everything is available like 1000s of variety. Also you would find teas of unbelievable flavours. Just try it once. The staff behaviour is really awesome and worth visiting with your friends and family. ✌🏼❤️

Grains by Udaan Himalayan in Darjeeling offers a delightful dining experience with a gorgeous restaurant serving a variety of cuisines including English, North and South Indian breakfast. The food is praised for its great taste and non-greasy quality. Guests appreciate the cooperative and generous staff, with special mentions for Ruchita and Mr. Pankaj who provided superb service. The ambience is beautiful, making it an ideal place to enjoy a delicious meal while receiving excellent hospitality.
Loved having lunch here during our Darjeeling visit. It was recommended by a friend, and we were happy to have been there. We tried Cheese balls, Paneer tikka, Spaghetti pasta, American Chopsuey, fresh lime soda etc

Good food with lovely views. We had the malai kofta with roti and it was good in taste. Would recommend especially for pure veg folks
Aditi S — Google review
The best veg restaurant for sure. The food, the ambience, the hospitality was top-notch. For us who are non-vegetarians, liking a veg restaurant that to on this level is really commendable. I don't know the name of the guy who served us but he was amazing, very patient. For starters we had tandoori platter, dahi sholey kabab, and for main course we had paneer kurchan, cheese naan and masala naan. All of these were very tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Visited this place during our trip to Darjeeling and absolutely loved the food. Great ambience, lovely staff, and delicious food. The garlic bread we ordered was my favourite. Special thanks to Pankaj, Ritesh, and Ruchita for their wonderful service!

I’m a non-vegetarian but this vegetarian fine dining experience completely won me over. Every single dish was absolutely. The service was top-notch too — warm, attentive, and professional. Easily one of the best veg meals I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!

Lazeez Affaire is a vegetarian restaurant that serves delicious Indian food items. The staff is polite and the food is tasty. It's located close to the mall road in Darjeeling and it's a great place to go for a casual meal.
Just had thukpa tonight , and it's totally veg , after haldiram one of the best veg food ever had . The service was great even after 9 pm the atmosphere was more than we imagined. But the prize seemed a bit high for common students like me and my friend. Lovely give it a try ❤️. Thank you

This restaurant is situated in the heart of Darjeeling, near the Chowrasta Mall Road. I visited this place during the festival time and it was pretty crowded. We had to wait for more than 30 minutes to get a table. The ambiance of this restaurant is really praiseworthy. After trying out a plate of Veg Thukpa & Chilli Paneer, I can say that the quality of foods is excellent, although the quantity didn't justify the price. Yes, it's quite an expensive restaurant.💜

We had masala tea downstairs, and it was really flavorful and delicious. Afterward, we headed to the first floor to try some Darjeeling specialties. We ordered momos and tupka. The momos were good, and the tupka was above average. I definitely recommend trying the masala tea, which costs ₹30. As for the food, I’m not entirely sure about all the options, but the ambiance is really nice!
Sudarshana S — Google review
Nice place and I might say heaven for vegans and the food is really nice and atmosphere too the only problem I found about this place is toilet it’s too far from the dining place and needs cleaning for food good but it’s a bit on the expensive side so be be careful about that . The best thing in food is the onion pickles, if you visit this place or about to visit must try. They cook fresh food and taste is also nice, ambience wise I’ll go with 8 out of 10 which is fairly good. But remember it might cost you some fortune. For the first time I mean if you want to try that place you have my approval. Sayonara until we meet again 😉

Finding good vegetarian food in Darjeeling can be quite a task, so stumbling upon Lazeez Affaire on Mall Road felt like discovering a hidden gem. This is a pure vegetarian place serving delicious North Indian fare — think fresh rotis, flavorful sabzis, and that comforting homestyle taste. The food is genuinely satisfying and makes you feel at home. A big shoutout to the courteous staff, especially Angelica and Shreshta, who were warm, friendly, and extremely helpful throughout our visit. Their hospitality really elevated the experience. However, the manager's attitude was quite a downer. He was surprisingly rude and seemed ill-equipped to handle customer interactions respectfully — something the management should seriously look into. One major downside was the bathroom and handwash area, which were in poor condition and badly in need of maintenance. A cleaner, more hygienic setup would make a huge difference. A bit pricey too. Overall, despite a few setbacks, it’s a great spot for vegetarians looking for hearty Indian meals in Darjeeling. With some improvements, this place could truly shine.

Very romantic ambience, tasty north indian food, warm behavior of staff.... Enjoy my dinner with my family during my stay on17th august 2024... It was a rainy evening...... Started my evening with coffee and cheese pakora.... And it was great..... At dinner we ordered creamy masroom soup, masala kulcha, vegetable kolapuri, and vegetables noodles....... All are equally good.. ❤️

We went to this restaurant with high expectations but the service, the manager was extremely rude . My sister puked immediately as she ate the food and we offered to pay the entire bill. The manager started scolding my father and demanded extra 200 for cleanup which we paid along with other extra charges for the garbage bag. Extremely upset with this experience, I recommend that please do not visit this disgusting place where the staff has no empathy or manners. Such managers should be fired. Will be taking this up with higher authorities.

This restaurant is situated at the center of Mall road. This is one of the few pure pure veg restaurant in the area. We had dinner here. It was quite crowded and lot of people were in the queue. The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. The food was also good. Overall, worth a try.
