Lookouts
Tiger Hill, situated 2590 meters above sea level and 13 kilometers from Darjeeling, is renowned for its breathtaking sunrise views. It offers a spectacular sight of the sun illuminating the peaks of Kanchenjunga before it appears at lower altitudes. This hill is also the summit of Ghoom, the highest railway station on the Darjeeling Himalayan Train route, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dear folks I'm reviewing Most beautiful place in Darjeeling. The Tiger Hill. Tiger Hill Sunrise Point is truly a must-visit when in Darjeeling! Located about a 30–40 minute drive from the main city, it’s famous for offering a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Ideally, you should plan your visit between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to catch the magical first rays lighting up the snow-clad peaks. However, do keep in mind that the weather in Darjeeling can be very unpredictable. If clouds are too dense, the majestic Himalayan view might hide itself away! The spot is peaceful and fills you with a deep sense of calm and wonder. With the cool winds blowing. whether you make it for sunrise or visit later in the day, Tiger Hill is absolutely worth every moment — a truly unforgettable experience. Must recommended place in Darjeeling
Dhaara S — Google review
Check for the clouds at around 3am before heading here to get an idea whether you can see the mountains especially the Kanchanjunga. The vehicle management needs to improve. The entire tourist population of Darjeeling will be here with atleast 300 cars on a weekday and more on the weekends. So be ready to walk a bit because your driver will prefer keeping the car at the far end to ease the departure. No official observatory here when I went in the month of October 2025. You'll have some local vendors who serve maggie and momo as well. So enjoy this place and be hopeful that the weather gods bless you
Bryan M — Google review
Bike is allowed after 9 am. Road is fine. Sunset is more beautiful than sunrise.
Kingshuk P — Google review
Sunrise view from the tiger hill is a mesmerizing experience. And also the view of Kanchenjunga from here is wonderful. Must visit place if you visit Darjeeling.
Sriman N — Google review

It's an amazing view point ,one should definitely visit in a life time. Mesmerizing sunrise and kanchenjunga mountain range will make your visit worth the time and effort you put to reach there.

Batasia Loop is a fascinating stop along the Siliguri-Darjeeling route, situated below Ghoom Railway Station. This engineering marvel from the British era was designed to ease the steep descent for trains passing through Ghoom station on their journey to Darjeeling. Observing the miniature train navigate around this circular track is a delightful experience for visitors.
Before few day’s ago me with my loving family visited the iconic Batasia Loop in Darjeeling, a scenic wonder along the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, where the toy train winds through lush greenery and panoramic Mountain View’s. You can wear beautiful costumes for rent rs 50. You can easily spend 30 minutes to 1 hour here. . The toy train halts here briefly, allowing passengers to experience the mesmerizing landscape and capture stunning photographs. This was such a beautiful experience.
Neegar A — Google review
Batasia Loop in Darjeeling is a fascinating blend of engineering marvel, natural beauty, and cultural charm. Located about 5 km from the town, this iconic railway loop is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, built to negotiate steep gradients in the hilly terrain. Watching the famous toy train wind its way through the perfectly curved track, with the majestic Kanchenjunga range as the backdrop, is a sight that delights both railway enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The loop is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens filled with vibrant flowers, manicured lawns, and walking paths, making it a peaceful spot to stroll and enjoy the crisp mountain air. At the center stands a war memorial dedicated to the Gorkha soldiers who sacrificed their lives in various wars post-independence. The monument, with its solemn atmosphere, adds historical significance to the scenic location. On clear days, Batasia Loop offers sweeping panoramic views of Darjeeling town and the snow-clad peaks beyond. Local vendors selling tea, snacks, and souvenirs add a friendly, lively touch to the visit. The early morning is the best time to experience the place, especially when the toy train passes through. Batasia Loop is more than just a stopover—it’s a picturesque and meaningful part of Darjeeling’s heritage that captures the region’s spirit perfectly.
SK R — Google review
We visited Batasia Loop in the morning, and it was an unforgettable experience. The entry ticket is ₹50 per person, which is absolutely worth it. The sky was crystal clear that day, allowing us to enjoy a stunning view of the majestic Kanchenjunga right from the spot. The beautifully landscaped gardens, the iconic spiral railway track, and the peaceful atmosphere made the visit even more special. A must-visit place in Darjeeling, especially in the morning when the views are at their best.
Sohail S — Google review
Batasia Loop is an average spot that doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The views are decent, but not particularly unique compared to other scenic locations nearby. The biggest downside is that it’s overly crowded, especially during peak hours, which takes away from the experience. There isn’t much to do apart from a quick stop for photos, and facilities around the area are minimal. Overall, it’s okay for a short visit, but not worth going out of your way for.
Dr R — Google review
A Must-Visit Icon of Darjeeling! Batasia Loop is one of the most iconic and scenic spots in Darjeeling. Watching the toy train take a wide, graceful loop around the beautifully landscaped garden is a treat — especially with the mighty Kanchenjunga towering in the background on a clear day. It’s not just a railway marvel but also a peaceful place to spend some time. The area is well maintained with a lovely garden, a war memorial honoring Gorkha soldiers, and small shops offering local snacks, tea, and souvenirs. It’s a photographer’s paradise — the panoramic views of the mountains and the town are breathtaking.
Krishna S — Google review
This place orders a panoramic view of Himalayas. Toy train stops here for 15min. to let you enjoy the scenic beauty.
Rohan R — Google review
Standing at Batasia Loop, I was mesmerized by the breathtaking sight of Kanchenjunga rising majestically against the clear blue sky. The snowclad peaks glistened in the morning light, casting a golden glow that seemed almost unreal. The serene curve of the railway track at Batasia framed the view perfectly, making the mighty mountain appear even more enchanting. The fresh breeze, the quiet hum of nature and the panoramic backdrop of Darjeeling’s hills made the moment unforgettable.
Mohammad C — Google review
Very beautiful landscape. You can ride toy train from here to explore the Darjeeling tourist spots. Also there is a War memorial where you can take photos to show respect. The area has a garden with benches to take rest.

Nestled at an enchanting altitude of 6,800 feet, Happy Valley Tea Estate spans across 437 acres and is the second oldest tea estate in Darjeeling. Visitors can embark on tours to witness the intricate process of harvesting and processing tea leaves. The lush plantations set against hilly slopes emit a captivating aroma that adds to the charm of this historical plantation. Guided tours offer insights into the rich history and production of world-renowned Darjeeling Tea.
One of the most beautiful and well maintained tea gardens I have ever visited in Darjeeling district, very few people know & visit this spot as the road condition is not that good , but once you enter into this Garden you will be completely mesmerized, In the tea factory they will show you the entire process of Tea making from Tea leaf plucking to packaging, the factory is situated inside the tea garden only. You have to pay rupees 100/- to witness this process but for tea garden visit there is no entry fee. Here they also sell the tea product - Milk tea, Green tea , Black tea. Overall, A must visit place in Darjeeling. 👍

A Serene Walk and a Lovely Experience at Happy Valley Tea Estate We walked down to Happy Valley Tea Estate from the Botanical Garden, and as we emerged from the alley into the open, we were greeted by breathtaking views of tea plants carpeting the slopes. The trail, lined with graceful Deodhar trees on one side, made the walk even more delightful. After a leisurely kilometre-long walk, we reached the estate around 12:30 pm. July being off-season, there were hardly any tourists, and the factory was relatively quiet as most activity happens in the morning hours. Nevertheless, the staff kindly conducted a tour of the factory, explaining the tea-making process in detail, followed by a tea tasting session. The tour costs ₹100 per person. Happy Valley Tea Estate is definitely worth a visit when in Darjeeling - for its peaceful atmosphere, stunning surroundings and a chance to relish the essence of Darjeeling tea.

Happy Villa Tea Estate, Darjeeling Not a very famous spot, and that’s exactly what makes it special. Happy Villa Tea Estate is peaceful, uncrowded, and full of natural charm. Once you reach here, the breathtaking views will surely surprise you. You can capture some stunning photos amidst the lush tea gardens and enjoy a panoramic view of the Darjeeling town from this serene spot. A hidden gem that truly deserves more attention!

Nice experience. They did sell me very expensive tea though which was available online for lesser price. The tea was great no doubt. The estate is beautiful. Its a steep walk down and up to the estate.
Bhagyashree A — Google review
Very informative tour of the tea factory and some delicious free samples of the different types of tea which we could then buy boxes of if wanted. We were also free to wander the beautiful tea plantations.
Nitish N — Google review
I didn’t visit the tea factory itself, but I did enjoy the beautiful views of the town and the stunning hills of West Bengal as I walked down the road. Just a friendly reminder! what goes down must come back up! 😂 I ended up walking all the way down toward the Darjeeling side and came back up through the village, which took me about 30 to 40 minutes.

Park
Shrubbery Nightingale Park, located in Darjeeling, West Bengal, is a serene public park with landscaped gardens and benches. It features a large statue of Lord Shiva and was once the private courtyard of Sir Thomas Tartan's Bungalow during the British Raj. Despite being destroyed in an earthquake in 1934, it remains a popular spot for visitors and locals to enjoy stunning views of the Kanchenjunga peaks.
Very beautiful. 9am to 5 pm. Ticket entry 25₹ . However be careful with the 5rs. Scam that happens at ticket counter. He hides 5 rs. And says he doesn't have change and demands you to pay 30₹. The garden is very nice and must spend time with good benches also put. You can easily spend couple of hours here, just relaxing. There are some walki g trails that goes downwards also. Near the washroom area
Purva K — Google review
Shrubbery Nightingale Park is a peaceful, green retreat in Darjeeling with lovely lawns, colorful flowers, and a striking Shiva statue by a small lake. It’s just a short walk from the Mall, costs INR 25 to enter, and is open 8 AM-8 PM. Great for a quick, relaxing stroll or picnic. Sadly, when we visited, clouds blocked the Kanchenjunga views, which was a letdown. The toilets were also unclean, which made the experience less pleasant. Still, it’s a nice spot for some calm if the weather cooperates!
Dr. D — Google review
Peaceful place. I have visited there in all seasons and you will find it's unique beauty in every season. During Spring you will be able to watch many beautiful flowers, during monsoon it will give u a haunting feeling. Great place to spend couple of hours
Sourav C — Google review
One of the best parks I have been to and that too with a view that kills! You will be able to find a wide range of flowers, most of which you'll probably see for the first time. They do have a temple at the top and a fountain which was not working when I visited. Plenty of greenery to sit, soak up the nature and recharge. Do definitely visit this place to at least just chill around. They do have an entry fee of 25 per person I think
Amlana P — Google review
An absolute delight to visit this awesome park on the way to Darjeeling Zoo from the Darjeeling Mall. For a small fee, you will get to enjoy this well maintained park. I visited on a cloudy day, but on a clear day you may get to see the surrounding valley. Cafe and washrooms are available. Don’t skip this park.
Sundaram D — Google review
The park itself is good. But the view point is not as good. Lack of maintenance! I'm not sure about the peak season. Just before diwali the condition is not good.
Sourav M — Google review
A Serene Escape at Shrubbery Nightingale Park If you're looking for a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Darjeeling town, Shrubbery Nightingale Park is the perfect spot. Nestled amidst lush greenery and offering mesmerizing views of the Kanchenjunga range, this beautifully maintained park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. Scenic Beauty & Atmosphere The park is well-landscaped with manicured lawns, vibrant flowers, and charming pathways, making it an ideal place for a relaxing stroll. The fresh mountain air and the tranquil environment create a perfect setting for unwinding. The highlight, of course, is the stunning panoramic view of Kanchenjunga, especially on a clear day. Evening Cultural Performances One of the best things about visiting in the evening is the traditional cultural performances, including folk dances that showcase the rich heritage of the region. This adds a unique charm to the experience and makes it a great spot to enjoy Darjeeling's cultural essence. Ideal for Relaxation The park has plenty of seating areas, making it a great place to sit back and soak in the breathtaking views. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, it's an excellent spot to relax and take in the beauty of nature. Final Verdict Shrubbery Nightingale Park is a peaceful, scenic, and culturally rich place to visit in Darjeeling. Whether you're looking to enjoy a quiet afternoon or an evening with traditional performances, this park is definitely worth a visit. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

A peaceful and colorful escape in Darjeeling! 🌸🌿 Shrubbery Nightingale Park is full of vibrant flowers and calm open spaces. I’ve shared a few images here, but for the full video and many more moments, check out my YouTube and Instagram: @iamaloknath. 🎟️ Entry Fee: ₹25 – totally worth it! 🍽️ There’s a canteen inside the park. I had their paratha with chutney — and it was genuinely superb. Would recommend giving it a try. 🌄 There’s also a viewpoint near the canteen from where you can see Kangchenjunga if the sky is clear. Unfortunately, it was cloudy during my visit. 🪑 Lots of benches, lawn space, and peaceful corners to relax. A great spot for families and kids too. 🌺 If you enjoy flowers and plants, you’ll love the variety here. 📍It’s also very close to Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. Overall, a must-visit place in Darjeeling. ✅ Feedback to Management: The park is beautiful — maintaining plant labels or adding flower name boards would really help visitors learn more. Keep up the great work!

Truly Peaceful: Kanchenjunga Views & Japanese Culture The Darjeeling Peace Pagoda is a must-visit for total peace and incredible mountain views. The natural setting is beautiful, filled with lush trees and the sound of birds chirping, making it instantly calming. On a clear day, the view is spectacular—you get a clear, majestic shot of the Himalayas, especially the iconic Kanchenjunga. The Pagoda itself is an important symbol of Buddhism and global harmony. It was built by the revered founder, Nichidatsu Fujii Guruji, and its simple, elegant design beautifully showcases Japanese culture and architecture. It's a wonderful, pristine spot for quiet reflection. Highly, highly recommended!

A calm and spiritually refreshing place with stunning views of the Darjeeling hills. The Japanese Temple exudes serenity, and the rhythmic chanting of the monks creates a deeply peaceful atmosphere. The adjoining Peace Pagoda, with its gleaming white structure and golden Buddha panels, is beautifully maintained and photogenic. A short walk connects both sites, making it a fulfilling visit. However, parking can be quite congested, especially during peak hours, so it’s better to come early or hire a local cab. A must-visit spot to experience peace, architecture, and panoramic views of Darjeeling in one frame.

Nestled amidst picturesque tea plantations and overlooked by the majestic Kanchenjunga, the charming town of Darjeeling offers a plethora of captivating attractions. Visitors can savor the colonial ambiance while enjoying a pink gin and tonic, explore tea factories, discover museums and zoos, witness the breathtaking Himalayan sunrise, or meander through botanical gardens. The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a must-visit attraction in Darjeeling.
Darjeeling Zoo, officially known as Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, is one of the most unique zoos I’ve ever visited. Nestled on the hilly slopes of Darjeeling, it’s not just a zoo—it feels like a walk through a peaceful, forested sanctuary with crisp mountain air all around. What makes this zoo special is its focus on high-altitude Himalayan animals. You’ll find red pandas, snow leopards, Himalayan wolves, and even a majestic black panther if you’re lucky. The enclosures are pretty spacious, and most of them blend naturally with the surroundings, which makes it feel less like a typical zoo and more like an animal reserve. One of the highlights for me was seeing the red pandas up close—they’re adorable and quite active! The snow leopards, though lazy, were a treat to spot. There’s also a mountaineering institute within the premises that’s worth a quick stop if you’re into adventure history. Walking around the zoo can be a bit tiring since it's on a slope, so comfortable shoes are a must. It’s clean, well-maintained, and offers great photo opportunities, especially on clear days with views of the surrounding hills. Entry fees are very reasonable, and it's a great place for both kids and adults to learn about Himalayan wildlife. I would definitely recommend adding it to your Darjeeling itinerary if you love animals or simply want a peaceful escape for an hour or two.

One of the best high-altitude zoos in India! Located in the scenic hills of Darjeeling, this zoo is home to rare and endangered Himalayan animals including the red panda, Asiatic black bear, Royal Bengal tiger, white tiger, leopard, and even the elusive snow leopard. The zoo is well-maintained and focused on conservation and breeding programs, especially for red pandas and Himalayan wolves. The enclosures are natural-looking and spacious, though be prepared for a bit of walking uphill due to the hilly terrain. ✅ Must-see: Red panda enclosure, snow leopards, and pheasants. 🌲 Surrounded by serene nature and cool weather – makes the walk enjoyable. 🎟️ Tickets are affordable and you can also visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute inside the same complex.

Established in 1958, it is the highest-altitude zoo in the country, located at around 7,000 feet above sea level. Unlike many other zoos, this one specializes in conserving and breeding endangered Himalayan species, which makes it very special. The zoo is home to rare animals such as the Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Wolf, and Clouded Leopard. Seeing these magnificent creatures in a habitat designed close to their natural environment is truly memorable. The enclosures are well-planned and spread out, and the hilly terrain of the zoo itself makes walking through it an experience in nature. The greenery, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings make it very different from crowded city zoos. Another highlight is the adjacent Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), which you can explore along with the zoo. It adds to the overall experience, especially for those interested in trekking and mountaineering history. On the downside, the zoo involves a lot of walking and climbing, which might be tiring for elderly visitors. Also, some enclosures could use better signage and maintenance. Overall, Darjeeling Zoo is an excellent place for families, nature lovers, and anyone curious about Himalayan wildlife. A well-deserved 4-star destination that blends education, conservation, and natural beauty.

A truly unique place!!!!!! We enjoyed a lot here ---we the three friends. Positives 1. Snow Leopard is the main attraction here. 2. Tigers are few in numbers and visible prominently. 3. You can see bear and crocodile from very near. 4. Varieties of deer are available here. 5. Parrot house is another attraction here. 6. Bengal Natural History Museum ####Dont miss it. It is a jem. It is inside the zoo area. But very few people enter her. Negatives 1. Need more species of animals and birds as they are very few in quantity and numbers.

Excellent high-altitude zoo! The conservation work here is commendable. Saw the beautiful Red Panda and the elusive Snow Leopard. Well-maintained and a lovely atmosphere. The ticket price is very reasonable for a combined visit with the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. A definite highlight of my Darjeeling trip."

Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park is situated in Darjeeling. This Zoo is famous for sambar, deer, and Siberian Tiger and the famous Red Panda. You can enjoy the area. There is most important thing that is Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Museum. There museum is really fantastic. Those who have interest in the Himalaya, should love this museum.

Dear All Here I am reviewing zoo.. I don't normally go to Zoos as I don't like seeing wild animals in captivity. However, you have have to go through the zoo to get to the mountaineering museum! So, on that basis I am reviewing it. Apparently the red pandas have been successfully bred here and have been released back into the wild. As far as zoos go, this one is particularly beautiful and has used the natural environment for the construction of the enclosures that the animals have been kept in. It was amazing seeing some of the animals close up. PS :- The place has many benches to sit, a small restaurant, clean washrooms too. It's very convenient for travelers. One way road so have to walk much. Must recommend place 👌

The Darjeeling Ropeway offers an awesome view of the hills and valleys, truly a scenic experience. However, the place needs some maintenance, and the waiting time is usually 30–40 minutes. Ticket quota is very limited each day, so you have to stand in queue at least 2 hours before it starts to book tickets. Great views, but the overall management could be better.

Opens at 10am. Keep in mind that no digital payment is available at the ticket counter. The queue starts from 8am onwards. Almost 2 hours, It would take to get in the cable car. Quality of food, ambiance, behaviour of staffs and the bakery as well makes me happy in a true sense. I recommend this place for dinner whoever visit Darjeeling. Even couples can enjoy their best time here. The viral post of taking pictures with the Hope in Darjeeling is a new trend but for me, Glenary's is for enjoying dinner, especially pork, chicken, beer and wine. Glenary’s Bakery is one of the oldest and most iconic bakeries in India! 🧁 It has an amazing variety of bakery items — we loved the patties, Danish pastry, and donuts, and their Berline is a must-try. There are so many delicious options to choose from. Though it was a bit crowded, everything was well-organized. The self-service setup with microwaves to heat your food is a great touch. A must-visit spot in Darjeeling for all bakery lovers!

Glenary's is a historic gem that lives up to its reputation. The moment you step inside, the ambiance takes you back in time with its classic decor and cozy feel. The real highlight, however, is the food. The bakery items are fresh and delicious, with a special mention for their pastries and pies. The upstairs restaurant offers great continental dishes with a fantastic view of the mountains. My daughter especially loved the breathtaking view, making our visit even more special. The food is simply delicious. We especially enjoyed the cakes and the Biryani, which was perfectly up to the mark. Even the chili pork added a delicious kick. It was a wonderful dining experience, and we ate very well there enjoying the view. The service was prompt and the staff were friendly. Me and my family go there twice and we like this place, especially my grandfather likes this place too much ,although he can't climb stairs but still he enjoyed it. You don't need to enter and the ticket price is also reasonable. But there was a thing that you knew before you went to visit, that is the price of everything there is 5 rupees more than the MRP.

Wowwww what a beautiful place,,,,The Rock Garden is a very beautiful place. You can climb very high and there are many waterfalls, but the road to get here is very bad.You have to be very careful here, the road here is very steep. Since you have to go down a lot, the road is very bad, but once you go, you are bound to feel better.

Okay listen—if you think this is just a cute little picnic spot with a pretty waterfall… THINK AGAIN. I went in thinking it’s a chill place. Ten minutes in, I was climbing stairs like I was in a Himalayan boot camp! 🥵💪 You have to walk… and walk… and WALK. At one point, I thought I’d need oxygen and a rescue team. My legs filed an official complaint against me halfway up. 😩 BUT—plot twist—the views? STUNNING. Like nature said, “Yeah I made you suffer, but here’s your reward.” The waterfall is beautiful, the rocks are dramatic, and the vibe is like a nature spa if you ignore the 100 people taking selfies all around you. 📷💦 Always packed. You won’t be alone unless you visit at sunrise (and even then, uncle-ji with the DSLR will be there before you). So final verdict: Great for Instagram, terrible for lazy people. Wear shoes. And if you can’t walk a lot—just look at the pictures online and save your knees. 😂

Wonderful place to hangout and walk. I went to Darjeeling for a holiday. This place is part of the mall road. Apparently, Mall road is very lengthy and Britishers used it for walking is what I got to know from my taxi driver. This particular chowrasta has a big open air theatre, fountains, small tea shops, and some benches to rest. One can have a good view of the hills and pine tree though a lot of power lines cross cross it. If one further takes a walk down the mall road, there are a lot of shops and landmarks of Darjeeling.

The garden offers mesmerizing views and is well-maintained, making it a favorite among nature lovers. Established in 1980, the garden features multi-level terraces and is adorned with Chunnu Summer Fall and Gangamaiya Park.
Peaceful Place with Waterfalls, Nature & Fresh Air Rock Garden is one of the most beautiful spots I visited in Darjeeling. It’s around 30–40 minutes from the main town, and the drive itself is scenic, with tea gardens and mountain views all along the way. Once you reach, you're welcomed by the sound of a natural waterfall flowing through layered rock steps. The garden is built beautifully on different levels, with stone benches, little bridges, and flowers everywhere. It's a perfect place to just relax, enjoy nature, and click some great photos. There’s a calm vibe here—ideal for families, couples, or even solo travelers looking for peace and fresh air. If you go a bit further, there’s Ganga Maya Park too, which is quieter and has paddle boats and a cute little lake.

Rock Garden in Darjeeling is one of the most peaceful and refreshing places I’ve ever visited. It’s a beautiful spot surrounded by green hills, flowing waterfalls, and colorful flowers — a true gift of nature. The main attraction is the waterfall that flows down through the rocks, creating a calming sound that instantly relaxes your mind. The garden is built in steps or layers, and every level gives a new and more stunning view. The cool mist from the waterfall feels magical, especially on sunny days. There are benches, viewpoints, and small bridges where you can sit, click pictures, or just enjoy the sound of water and birds. The entire place is clean and well-maintained, and you’ll find small tea stalls nearby for snacks or Maggi — which tastes extra special in the mountain air! Reaching the Rock Garden is a bit of an adventure — the road is steep and full of turns, but the journey itself is beautiful. You can see tea gardens, small houses, and local life along the way. If you love photography or peaceful natural spots, this place is a must-visit. Early morning or late afternoon visits are best for soft light and fewer crowds. Yes, the road can be bumpy, but once you reach there, it’s completely worth it. The freshness, the sound of the waterfall, and the mountain breeze make you forget everything else. ⭐ My Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) 🌿 Vibe: Calm, refreshing, and naturally beautiful 📍 Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and carry some water — lots of steps to climb, but every step is worth it!

Ticket price is 30rs/person Rock Garden is one of the best places to visit in Darjeeling. It is a beautiful sightseeing spot featuring a stunning waterfall that originates from a height of around 3,500 feet. You can enjoy the view of the waterfall from the base, and if you climb up the path, you'll reach an excellent spot for photography and capturing videos of the scenic walking trail. From the upper side, you’ll get some of the best photo opportunities with a panoramic view of the waterfall. It’s also a peaceful place to sit and relax, making it a must-visit location in Darjeeling.
Nitesh S — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful spot nestled in the hills, with tiered gardens, waterfalls, and great photo opportunities. The drive down is scenic (and a bit thrilling), with narrow roads and sharp turns. Once there, you’re greeted by lush greenery, stone walkways, and cascading water — perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. ⚠️ However, avoid visiting during heavy monsoon season. The area becomes slippery, and the road down can be dangerous due to landslides or poor visibility. Best to visit during clear weather for safety and to truly enjoy the place. Overall, a nice spot for nature lovers — just check the weather before you go!

Rock Garden is a nice place to visit in Darjeeling. The waterfall here looks beautiful, and the sound of water makes the place very peaceful. You can enjoy taking photos and spending some quiet time near the rocks and flowers. The road to Rock Garden is a bit steep and curvy, but the view on the way is amazing. There are small shops where you can get tea and snacks. Overall, a good place to visit with family or friends

It was a great experience to visit this place on a full monsoon day. Though a gush of showers delayed our journey by an hour, it empowered the stream by many folds. The green hills, pretty pines and the silvery stream with colorful flowers and water polished shining rocks make the place really beautiful. It may take up to 2 hours iff people want to explore all the paths of the garden. With short cut routes, it may take an hour to reach the top point and return.
J A — Google review
Nice place with many waterfalls and a pathway all the way to the top. Ideal spot for photos and selfies with friends and family. There are traditional costumes available for photo shoot. Many big rocks are there, some are present like an arch over the pathway. Also there is a small swimming spot for fun purpose.

Rock Garden is a well known sight seeing place for the tourists of Darjeeling. It has a entry fees of Rs 20/- per person. Kids below 10 years are free to enter. It has a natural beauty of small waterfall, river and a well planned park. It has a variety of flora (plants), which may be an attraction for excursion too. You can enjoy the natural trekking within the park to reach at the top most part of the hill. You can take foods from outside and can enjoy the whole day in the garden. On the way, you can visit orange tea garden too.

DHR (Toy Train) Information & Booking Centre offers a unique experience aboard the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, one of India's few operational hill railways. As it winds through the town, the train's stoppages provide ample time to appreciate the stunning scenery and rich culture. While some may find it overpriced and hyped, for first-time visitors to Darjeeling, it can be a dream come true.
One of an oldest and historical "Toy Train" railway station called Darjeeling Railway Station. This is very famous and known to almost all the persons in India. If you visit Darjeeling and haven't visited this place? Can not ne possible. Now a days it is difficult to find tickets availability to travel in this train. There are 4 or 5 different time slots per day is available and you can book this tickets through IRCTC portal with finding Station called "Darjeeling DJ to Darjeeling DJRZ" which will be more convenient to you. This will charge you 1000/- Rs. Approx per head (including to and fro) but better to book in advance as per your convenience. Must visit this Station once 👍🏻

Do you wish to enjoy a train joy ride amidst mountains? Here is your chance. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) toy train from Darjeeling to ghum is one of the best tourist's joy rides. It was accorded the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, and said to be Asia's highest railway station at 7407ft. Running from 1880, crossing Dali Monastery and the famous Batasia loop, it covers beautiful scenic beauty of the mountain ranges and evergreen forests full of local people with a welcoming smile. The Batasia Loop is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. At this point, the track spirals around over itself over a hilltop. It is said to be commissioned in 1919. A must visit for all, the reservation has to be done in advance from IRCTC. The station is very close to the Mall Road and has helpful staff.

Mesmerizing views of steam locomotives plying on cute little fairytale tracks, hot steaming dumplings and a quaint clock tower, this station is an unmissable tourist spot irrespective of whether one has booked a joyride. The station is adequately sheltered from the rain and offers great shots of steam engines juxtaposed against modern diesel locos. An absolute treat for train lovers.
Archisman M — Google review
You can avoid it, reasons are below...It passes through roads and traffic, if u have gone to various tourist places in Darjeeling by road then u would have already covered the route multiple times, it's too expensive, there is too much delay sometimes as per reviews it's 2 hrs delay, I waited for more than an hour, u may spoil your whole day just for one train ride and miss other important points of visit. Photography can be done at the station, tickets can be booked through IRCTC site.

Toy train travel cost is very high it is worthy because it is 100 year old train station in Darjeeling.
Fayez A — Google review
I’ve had combination of experience with DHR joyride as Ive booked tickets for 1:30 slot and reached there at around 1:10. Waiting for the ride to start at 1:30, station master made an announcement of delay by 30 minutes on which we waited till 2:00. After which they made an announcement again saying the ride to be late by another 30 minutes. People had patience and waited for another 30 minutes. Again at 2:30 they announced all the three trains to be cancelled due to technical issues. People were disappointed and left the station after waiting for 1-1:30 hours in an uncomfortable setting. Then few men gathered and decided to talk to the station master and station manager. After a long discussion and wait they agreed to run one train on a condition of gathering a minimum of 50 pax. Then they gave a form to fill and booked seats on a condition to pay in cash only. At 3:00 the cash was collected from the lot of people on a condition again that if this engine will not work then no money will be refunded to any of the traveller. After long hours of wait the ride finally started at 3:40 along with 3 more trains that were already scheduled for 3:40. The station staff was fooling the travellers who came so far and waited for long hours with poor facilities as the waiting room was fishy, lots of flies were there and the conditions of the washroom was terrible. This was the condition of Unesco world heritage site. It’s not that they cannot manage it to be better, they are just not bothered about the poor conditions and the unexpected behaviour of the staff while putting the trains to work on their own terms.

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Darjeeling, the Darjeeling Ropeway Homestay offers a tranquil retreat away from the bustling town. The homestay provides spacious rooms with broad windows that offer breathtaking views of the majestic mountains and the iconic Ropeway. While some guests have noted minor issues such as occasional electrical glitches and a lack of certain amenities, they praise the warm hospitality provided by the host.
Location of this homestay is pretty near to the Ropeway Darjeeling from where you can enjoy a joy ride with the Ropeway and experience of whole mountain overview. Rooms are very good, you can enjoy the scandid beauty of KachanJangha Hill from the window and Specially the Hospitality provided us was awesome. We are very happy with our selection of staying at Darjeeling, from where we can go other site scenes also very easily. Our Overall experience was simply Awesome. Here I Uploaded some of our staying experience. One of the photo shows the Location of Homestay seeing from the Ropeway while riding back.

It is simply great experience. It's located away from crowdy Darjeeling town, the place is great for a pleasant and calm stay. Mountains are visible from the broad window. Ropeway can be seen too. Service is great. Uncle is great, he takes due care of guests. Food is tasty. Only thing rooms are a bit shabby, there is no long mirror, and there is some issue in electric line. Lights get automatically switched on/ off. Rooms are spacious. A bit cleaning and arranging staff would make it 100/100. It's pocket friendly as well.

Really nice place to chill and relax if you really want to disconnect from overcrowded Darjeeling, the host was really really helpful , Dikki didis food was really good . Just One lil problem is you , there is really poor internet network , So if you really want to disconnect thn it's a perfect place for you ♥️ Overall cleanliness was good

The one thing that hits you as you visit this place is the humbleness of Mr Rajesh. He is a person with a golden heart. He makes you feel like a guest treats you like a guest and is always with a smile. I am trying my best at being modest but this man has so much in him to like. Being a one man army he is very helpful and tries his best to fulfil all tantrums which the tourists bring to him. Generally people are circumspect being in an unknown place, but this man literally makes you feel at home. Special mention to the food he serves its just yummy. This is not a luxurious place but just apt for tourists also there is a car park very near to this property. The clock chime in a chilled night from North Point School was so beautiful.I Will have only good words for this place and Mr Rajesh and his friend Kenny who was there during our visit. May God help them to have success in life.

I have been to this homestay for quite a number of times now. The homestay is 3 minutes (walking distance) away from the shared taxi stand (aka Singamari Motor stand). As you walk towards the homestay, you will be able to see one of the reputed schools, St Joseph's school, locally known as 'NP', North Point, in Darjeeling. When you arrive, you will find that the place has 3 rooms. Two large rooms which can sleep 5 people each (if you don't mind sharing beds) and another room which can sleep 2 people comfortably. All three rooms have attached bathrooms with electric hot water geysers. On clear days, the views from the rooms can be pretty spectacular. Even the Kanchenjunga mountains can be seen from the rooms. The cable cars/ropeway passes by the homestay and can be a very interesting experience watching the reactions of people inside the cars. Dikki, the owner's sister, is the lady who will be responsible for cooking your meals and hosting you. She is a polite, warm and cherubic person. The meals prepared by her are quite simple, yet delicious. The perfect example of a home cooked meal. Mr. Rajesh Pradhan, the owner, is a soft spoken, polite and helpful man. If he has time on his hands then he will personally attend to you. The Darjeeling Ropeway Homestay is for people who like the rustic experience of a home rather than people looking for posh and blingy hotel experiences. If you are looking to have the experience of a hotel when you stay here, then this place is not for you. Here, you will be treated as family and not just a paying customer. And if you can reciprocate in kind then your stay will be wonderful. Thank you Dikki and Rajesh for having me. It is always a pleasure to meet you guys. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Much love and regards to you both.

The most awesome thing of this Homestay is the location. You will get a good view of the 'Queen of Hills'. Foods are good, but not that much spicy. Those people who are health conscious will love it. And last but not the least the behaviour of Rajesh bhai is awesome. ❤️ He is so friendly and honest. You'll definitely love it.

The rooms are a bit shabby but the woman in charge is very warm and welcoming. She took very good care of us and tried her best to make us feel comfortable. The view was great, St Joseph's on one side and ropeway on the other. I hope they will maintain their rooms better.

Lloyd Botanical Garden, also known as Lloyd's Botanical Garden of Darjeeling, is a nature preserve located near Chowk Bazaar in Darjeeling. Established in 1878, it spans 40 acres and features a diverse range of indigenous Himalayan plants as well as exotic species from around the world. Visitors can explore walking paths amidst over 2,500 orchids, cacti, weeping willows from China and Japan, and a stunning rock garden.
A great place for a leisurely nature walk with the trails marked with trees and birds. Better to have an entire afternoon admiring nature and our place in it. With the area that this is spread across, it would be a shame to rush through it all and that is perhaps why it is usually free from tourists looking for a five (or seven!) point sightseeing tour. The maps printed at the corners might be difficult to understand but that adds to the adventure!
Arpan — Google review
Lloyd Botanical Garden is a hidden gem that offers a refreshing retreat from Darjeeling’s bustling tourist spots. It’s perfect for nature enthusiasts, botany lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful afternoon surrounded by greenery. Walking through the garden feels like stepping into a green sanctuary. It's quiet, peaceful and ideal for a leisurely stroll. The orchid house is a must visit, with over 150 types of exotic orchid during spring.

Lloyd Botanical Garden is really a very beautiful botanical garden. Actually the space of this garden is very big so you would get a bit confused. Where should you go, should you go here or there. But if you are coming for a picnic, if you are coming with your family, you must definitely visit here for a picnic. The tickets are only for ₹15 to ₹20. But after going to this place you will feel as if you have paid ₹500 for this ticket. It is a very lovely botanical garden. You must definitely visit here and it is very beautiful flowers, very nice road, you will find very nice people. Now you can definitely go here and spend one, two-three hours comfortably here.

Lloyd Botanical Gardens is a serene gem tucked away in Darjeeling, full of natural beauty and quiet charm. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Alok Tiwari, the beat officer there—a gem of a person himself. As a beat officer, he oversees and protects this section of the forest and gardens, ensuring its preservation. Talking to him was both insightful and enjoyable; he shared fascinating details about the garden’s history and biodiversity. It turned into more than just a visit—it felt like a shared moment of appreciation for nature and heritage.

A quiet spot in Darjeeling with some interesting specimen trees and lots of green and rest spots. Some of the gardens like the herb garden are neglected and not clear anymore. Quite hilly, like all of Darjeeling, could be a wonderful a great spot with a bit more maintenance of gardens and facilities. Better in spring for flowers I'd say.

There are horses which gives u small ride of the mall, mainly for children but adults can also enjoy the ride . There plenty shops around mall where you can shop for local artifacts or sip Darjeeling tea with some Momo and other snacks... Nearby roads situated to mall has plenty of restaurants & shops selling woolen garments at the cheapest price...

Good spot to sit and relax. Being the iconic landmark of the city, it's always crowded. Especially during morning and evening. Tea sellers are a highlight as you get good tea in small porcelain cups. There's a stage in one corner where shows/performances are held every once in a while. You might also find some local street performers.

Strolling along Darjeeling’s Mall Road was a highlight of my trip. This lively stretch near Chowrasta buzzed with energy—vibrant shops, cozy cafes, and stunning views of the misty hills. I loved sipping steaming Darjeeling tea at a quaint stall while soaking in the Kanchenjunga backdrop on a clear morning. The street’s charm, with its mix of local vendors and colonial-era vibes, felt like stepping into a postcard. It can get crowded, and parking’s a hassle, but the atmosphere and nearby spots like Nathmulls for tea made it unforgettable. A must-visit for any Darjeeling adventure….
