Museum
The Ferhat and Şirin Lovers Museum is a beautiful tribute to the legendary love story of Ferhat and Şirin, Turkey's own Romeo and Juliet. The museum showcases the tragic tale of Ferhat, who traversed mountains to bring water to his beloved Şirin in Amasya.
Harrowing love story. The sculptures, like their story, are placed in hard-to-reach places.
Serdar A — Google review
Nothing special, in Google they put the time close at 19.00 in reality at 17.00. Just bit late a second they already closed the museum. Nothing to do much here. Not sure is worth it to go here 🤔
Lady O — Google review
A museum simply constructed but a lively atmosfer, where there is a monumental staty of two lovers Ferhad and Shirin and their tombs. Inside the museum there is other live story characters and mystic spiritual love section. Cafeteria is available. The physical water canal that Farhad digged is there where is the source of water to Amasya( yesil irmak nehri)
Awanya A — Google review
Very well thought museum. It has different mannequins of different love stories from Ferhat&Şirin to Leila&Mecnun and Romeo&Juilet to Mevlana Rumi! It is a small museum but if you pass through it, it's worth to visit
Melek C — Google review
Shirin and Ferhat, earlier is use to think that this a comic or a novel, but visiting this place felt the real story, this place is a small park with restaurant and museum but interesting part is they have a cemetry of şirin and Ferhat. Which was shocking to me.

On August 21st 2020 at around 12:00 me and my family members went to do some shopping and to stroll around . When we tried to leave to get some food we were stopped by mall security and they told us that we had to stay inside the mall They were so disrespectful and rude to us and demanded that we stay inside the mall because our car was in the parking lot We had already done some shopping and didn’t like the food there we wanted to leave to get food then proceed with our shopping trip . The mall security and the rules that they’ve made are ridiculous and make no sense I WILL NOT BE COMING HERE EVER AGAIN I suggest you do not go there

The Amasya Archeology Museum in Turkey houses a remarkable collection of artifacts from various historical periods, including the Bronze Age, Hittite, Pontic, and Roman eras. Notable exhibits include the famous Statuette of Amasya depicting the Hittite storm god Teshub and a collection of mummies dating back to the 14th-century Ilkhan period.
The Amasya Archaeological Museum is an absolute gem that offers a captivating journey through Turkey’s rich history. Nestled in the picturesque city of Amasya, this museum is not only an architectural marvel but also a treasure trove of artifacts spanning thousands of years. The exhibits are meticulously curated, showcasing an impressive collection of relics from the Hittite, Phrygian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods. The displays are well-organized, with clear descriptions in multiple languages, making it accessible and educational for both local and international visitors. Among the standout pieces are the ancient coins, intricate jewelry, and beautifully preserved sarcophagi that give a glimpse into the lives of those who lived in this region long ago. One of the most remarkable highlights is the mummified remains from the Seljuk period, which are both fascinating and haunting, providing a rare look at ancient burial practices. The museum also houses a beautiful garden with archaeological remnants, creating a serene and immersive atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions or provide additional insights about the exhibits. The museum’s layout is thoughtfully designed, making it easy to navigate without feeling overwhelmed. The entrance fee is modest, making it an affordable cultural experience for all. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an archaeologist at heart, or simply someone looking to explore Amasya’s heritage, this museum is a must-visit. It’s a place where history comes alive and leaves you with a deeper appreciation for Turkey’s extraordinary past.

Archaeology and Mummy Museum – Fascinating and Surprising This museum was one of the highlights of my trip. You can see real mummies and many interesting archaeological items. It’s very well displayed and organized. The information is easy to read and the objects are fascinating. It’s perfect for both adults and kids. The ticket 3€ (145TL) and it’s free for children. The staff are very knowledgeable and polite. They answer all your questions with a smile. If you like history and something a bit different, this museum is a must-see!

In Amasya? Then spend an hour visiting this museum. With information boards in English and Turkish, you will learn all about the city over the years. There are some really good displays, and I especially liked the mosaics and learning about the Storm God! Free with museum cards, parking limited.

There are a lot of nice things to see, both archeological and anthropological, but some of the English translations are terrible or missing. They are making a new museum so hopefully they'll fix the problems. Don't miss the mum's upstairs. Unfortunately there is no way for a handicap person to access the upstairs.

Brilliant and valuable pieces of artifacts, dating back to centuries, millennia and even fossils from 115 million years in a very plain presentation. A must see place. Well done to the curators.

The view is excellent. The food can be much better. Tokat kebab was dry and meat has bones and fat. The actual meat part is less than I expected.

The location of the restaurant is nice, but it is poor in the menu that does not contain a variety of dishes. In addition, it is expensive for what it offers, just meat, chicken and drinks. Which is very available in all restaurants of Turkey. So I'm not a fan of visiting it.

The Şehzadeler Museum, a wax museum located in Turkey, is an impressive and well-maintained establishment. It would greatly benefit visitors if English language support were provided.
Learn About Ottoman Princes at Şehzadeler Müzesi ! This museum is very special. It tells the story of the Ottoman princes, called “Şehzadeler.” The rooms are colorful and full of life, with clothes, pictures, and historical information. It’s perfect for both adults and children. The museum is modern but still keeps the traditional feeling. Tickets are not expensive (80 TL) and children enter for free. The staff are very helpful, polite, and always ready to guide you. We came here for a group lunch to sample taste typical ottaman era foods in this restaurant overlooking the river. Interesting flavours that some of us did and did not like. Served no alcohol but the yogurt drink and fermented grape juice were excellent. Very quick service and clearing. Most of what we tasted was vegetarian and the yogurt soup was especially delicious . Lots of memorabilia on display and they used a lots of disposable single use plastic that was not necessary

FAYEZ A — Google review
Well located restaurant. While exploring the city and looking for local food we found this place as one of the cheapests. The food is nice, but in my opinion portions are very little, so to be full you need to order much more and of course spend much more. If you want to try local food, I think you can come here, but get ready to pay minimum 200try for two people. Compare to other places with local food it is not a lot, but if you just want to eat and spend less money, there are better options in the town. There is also nice view from the restaurant.
Beata U — Google review
Don t be confused by the gloomy entrance, once you are inside you will discover an amazing old house turned into a traditional restaurant with a big variety of delicious local dishes. Unfortunately, the service does not do justice to this wonderful restaurant as the waiters rush after their clients removing their dishes before they finish making room for the next ones. I was invited for a second time to the same place by friends a day later for dinner and at 22.00 after they repeatedly came to take our dishes away, while we were still eating, they were standing over our heads and staring at us urging us to leave. Does this make sense in a place as attractive and visited as Amasya, when the rest of the town was lively until 23.00-24.00 in the night?
Elena S — Google review
A beautiful spot on the river, but the food is very disappointing. No salad on the table as usual in this region. Meat is tough, the manti tasteless. they are so much in a hurry to het you out as quickly as possible. Within half an hour we were outside again
M M — Google review
The food was amazing and the service great! Another customer and I had the same thing ordered only she asked for half a size. Her plate came to mine and mine to her. A couple minutes later another plate came to our table and they apologised for confusing the orders and brought the other half. They were so nice and even half the size is enough to fill someone! The manti was very good. Some of us were very skeptical about the amount. They were very understanding and brought the plates with the sauce to our table so we could pour as much and we would like. This was definitely an amazing experience! The only downside for me is that the bathrooms for men and women are in the same room downstairs (but different stalls). We would definitely reccoment this place!

In addition to its diverse culinary offerings, Yamaç Bistro also features live music and attentive staff, ensuring a high-quality experience for guests.
Hands down one of the best café-restaurants in Amasya. From the location to the atmosphere, the quality of the building, the landscape architecture, and the soft jazz playing in the background—everything comes together beautifully. The staff could be a bit more professional at times, but overall, this place is a gem. One of the top spots in Amasya for anyone who appreciates thoughtful design and a relaxing vibe.

I visited Amasra for the first time this past weekend of May 2019. Amasra occupies a very important place in the contemporary history of the modern Turkish republic. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk planned the uprising against the occupying emperyalist forces in this town. Yamaç Bistro is located on a steep hill overlooking the town. The road from center of town to the Bistro is fine, our big bus had no difficulty reaching the place. There is a big car park, so no worry where to park the car. The menu is like all other menus of similar restaurants, but what separates this place from others is the exceptional view it offers of Amasya downtown. If you happen to visit Amasra, don't forget to have a lunch or dinner at this place.

We went by taxi from Amasya. There were cars near the building and people inside, but the men at reception told us that the restaurant was closed, just closed. That’s all. But Google Maps also suggested it should be open. It's not an appropriate attitude for a place that seems “decent.” Nevermore.

Maybe you should pay attention to your workers attitudes. So, let me remind myself: today i came to your place around 12ish. I entered your place and sat down on a table for four people by the river which had no sign saying that RESERVED and begin to wait my group members since I was there as tour guide. Upon sitting table your waitress came and told me that these two tables are reserved. I'm a tour guide for 18 years and I understand body language very well. You should aware your words and check your cameras if you are enough brave. And upon your ugly answer, I will deliver the situation to Ministry of Tourism and Culture bureau in Amasya on Monday. Day 2

Southwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Amasya Kalesi, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Hazeranlar Mansion. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Amasya Castle – A Beautiful View of the city from the Top The castle is on top of the city and offers an amazing panoramic view. You can see the river, the houses, and the mountains all around. The castle ruins are interesting and it’s a good place to walk and enjoy nature. It’s also a great spot for taking photos. The ticket is cheap for adults (100TL) and free for children. The staff are really polite and happy to guide you or answer questions. I think this is a perfect place for families and tourists who enjoy history and beautiful landscapes. Don’t miss it!

One of the best places to see 360 degrees of the city from above. The entrance fee is 25 lira per person. It is not difficult to reach and it is a good place to relax.

Well it is a historical site but dont forget you dont see much. It is writtem that there was a hammam here long ago, you cannot see any sight or picture. But the view from the top is fantastic. And the entry fee is 50TL per person.
Amin P — Google review
There’s nothing inside — it’s not a museum, just some ancient stones left. The entrance fee is 100 TL, and it’s not worth going in. If you’re just looking for a good view of the city, I think seeing it from the outside is more than enough.

Ancient Ruins
The Pontic Kings Rock Tombs in Amasya are an ancient marvel perched atop a mountain, offering breathtaking views of the city. These historical structures date back to the Pontus Kingdom period and were carved into rocks, reflecting Hellenistic architectural features. Although only a few of the 21 tombs have survived, they remain a symbolic and popular tourist attraction in Amasya. Visiting these tombs involves a rewarding adventure with stunning panoramic views of the surroundings.
Came here in September with a tour group. Only a short climb up the stairs to the entrance. There is a small entry fee, 25TL. There is not much to see of the tombs. But that the tombs are carved into the hillside is historic. Also a great view of the city from up there

We walked up to the tombs. Its a lot of money for a badly taken care of path. There are people working on buildings, but around the tombs is a lot of dirt, thrash… The view is gorgeous though!

King Rock Tombs – Impressive and Majestic The King Rock Tombs are very impressive and full of history. They are carved into the mountain and offer a fantastic view of the whole city. You have to walk a little uphill, but it’s not too hard and it’s really worth it. The tombs are big and mysterious, and you can take great pictures there. The ticket price is 100TL, and children can go in for free. The people at the entrance are very friendly and give you useful information. It’s one of the most important places to visit in Amasya. I really loved it.

An acient and well preserved crypts that are carved into rocks of mountain. A must see place for Amasya. You may also fancy the traditional wooden houses and a peaceful evening near greenriver (Yeşilırmak). This place is also the homeland of an old fable called "Ferhat and Şirin". The lover Ferhat singlehandedly carve through mountains to bring water to city and get Şirin's hand for marriage...

We had issue with the ticket person who has been working there because university students cannot benefit from student discounts. Ticket person showed us “entering rules” of the Amasya municipality's and these rules are not allowing over 18 years old. After that, they took the normal entering fee from us.

Very attractive for those who are interested in history and mysterious sites. It is a historical tombs of pontic kings which are now available for visitors. The only way to reach them is by walking a long strairs which definitely needs to be immensely fit. The beautiful view of the city of Amasya from up will let you forget the long stairs journey.

A nice monument, it's clean, very very good organised to bad that the original was destroyed by the Roman empire more than 2000 years ago. Very nice view of the city.

You'll see these tombs from wherever you are on Amasya. So why not pay the 15TL per person (Apr 23) and then climb the 600 or so steps to go and see them? You'll get very close and be able to see how they were carved, but you won't be able to go in or walk around the back. There are some good views from the top and the information boards are mostly in Turkish and English.

Where do I even begin? This is a place that apparently won an award in 2019 and again in 2020, but based on our experience, that feels like ancient history. We walked in, sat down, and waited 15 minutes with no one approaching us. Eventually, we went downstairs to ask if we were supposed to order at the counter or if someone would come to our table. A staff member replied, “We’re coming,” so we went back to wait again. After another 5 minutes, a server came and asked if it was our first time. When we said yes, she held up a menu board and started showing us photos of the dishes, basically repeating what was already written there. I know what mantı is; I can read the menu. What I was hoping for was a bit more insight into each dish. We placed our order, but no one asked if we wanted something to drink. Not even water. For a place that has supposedly won awards, the service was far from it. When the food arrived, it was sadly below average. Overpriced, underwhelming, and forgettable. We left disappointed. This place may have once been worthy of an award, but now it deserves a new one: “How Not to Do It.” Never again…

I found this place on Tiktok. This was by far the best part of our visit to Amasya. The waiters were so professional I was lost for words. They actually had real gazoz (I struggled to find anything other than sprite in this entire region). We ordered 2 types of Manti both were excellent. The plates, the tea, the service was immaculate. It actually rained and it somehow improved the whole experience. My recommendation is the "Hatuniye manti" that was amazing. It's only cheese, get extra dip and go nuts.

We ordered a feast for 3 people and the bill was under 2000 TL. Beyti was bursting with flavor and was cooked perfectly as were all the other dishes. We had to wait an extra 10 minutes for the Pide so they gave us one of their signature sides for free. I recommend the mini Sarma and Beyti.
Richard O — Google review
Just landed in Cappadocia, dropped our bags, hit the town, admired some extremely photogenic rocks (fairy chimneys—worth the hype), and ended up at Keyif Restaurant for dinner. We ordered all the appetizers because everyone in my fam are chaotic food gremlins. Now, somewhere between our excitement and the language barrier, our order got hilariously mangled. Totally our fault…we talk fast, gesture vaguely, and assume everyone can read minds. They gave us two zucchini blossom orders instead of one blossom + one fried zucchini. Tragedy? Not even close. Keyif handled it like pros: took stuff off the bill, handed us free dessert (instant loyalty secured), and looked genuinely worried we’d torch them in a Google review. Spoiler alert: we will not. In fact, we’re giving them a 7 out of 5 stars for grace under appetizer pressure. Highly recommend. Come for the mezes, stay for the humility.

Extremely disappointing food and overpriced, the meat of the döner was not chewable, ayran was so watered down that it didn’t taste like anything. I would not come here again. The only good thing about the place was the ambiance but even that couldn’t make up for the food. Quick service.

The pictures on the menu aren’t accurate. There were things on my plate that weren’t mentioned nor seen on the picture. The waiters stand next to you and watch while you sit there and eat. A couple of fries looked like there was someone who took a bite, but maybe I‘m just delusional…

A mountain like with a breathtaking view. The water is cold and clean. There is a affordable restaurant at the lake. You can also rent your own bungalows there. Currently the rates are around 2000 TL per night. You can also bring your own tent and just camp.

Mirror Cave

4.1
(260)
Mirror Cave, also known as Aynali Cave, is a remarkable rock tomb located in Amasya, Turkey. Carved into bright limestone rocks, this ancient structure dates back to the Greek Pontus civilization. The tomb's name comes from its ability to shine when the first rays of the sun hit it. Over time, its luminosity has faded. This historical site served as a forward observation post during its time.

(Translated by Google) One of the mysterious beauties of Amasya, Aynalı Cave is located on the slopes of Harşena Mountain, overlooking the city. When you visit this interesting place as a traveler, you will witness an extraordinary atmosphere where nature and history are intertwined. The cave gets its name from the reflection of the sun's rays when they hit it like a shiny surface. This natural phenomenon gives the cave a mystical and fascinating atmosphere. The history of Aynalı Cave dates back to the 2nd century BC, the Hellenistic period. This place was actually built as the monumental tomb of the Mithra Priest Tes. The large area inside the cave and the colorful paintings on the walls, as well as the "Great Priest Tes" inscription at the entrance support this idea. However, according to some rumors, it was also used for worship by Christians during the Byzantine period and apostle figures were drawn on its walls. There are two rooms in the cave, rectangular and square. While visiting Aynalı Cave, you will both embark on a historical journey and observe an interesting formation of nature. The shiny surface of the cave and the historical traces inside make it a special place to see in Amasya. Especially for photography enthusiasts, the light effects created by the reflection of the sun at different angles offer unique frames.

The Saraydüzü Barracks Building National Struggle Museum and Congress Center is a historical site located in the heart of Amasya. It was reconstructed in 2007 to resemble the original barracks where Mustafa Kemal Pasha stayed and wrote the Amasya Circular in 1919. The museum showcases wax sculptures and tells the story of the significance of Amasya during the national struggle period.

This place is a historical building with a museum inside. It talks about Turkish history and the War of Independence. There are nice exhibitions with objects, pictures, and stories. It’s very educational and interesting. The museum is clean, modern, and not very crowded. Entrance is free. The people at the front desk are very kind and speak slowly if your Turkish is not perfect. They are happy to explain things. I learned a lot and really enjoyed it. A great visit!

Saraydüzü Barracks Building, National Struggle Museum and Congress Center - Amasya The Saraydüzü Barracks Building, used as a base by Mustafa Kemal during his visit to Amasya in June 1919 and where the Amasya Circular was penned, was rebuilt faithfully on the banks of the Yeşilırmak River, taking into account its historical significance. The Saraydüzü Barracks Building and National Struggle Museum not only serves as a museum showcasing artifacts and documents from the Republican Era, but also serves as a cultural center hosting various events. Nestled in the heart of Amasya, Küçükağa Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that showcases an array of regional dishes and unique flavors. This clean and inviting establishment is known for its warm bread and delicious pide, which leave a lasting impression on diners. The friendly staff go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience, even bridging language barriers with ease. Guests rave about the delectable lamb soup and the restaurant's signature wood-fired pide, reminiscent of pizza but with its own twist.
We had lunch here as group of 7. We have shared the mains such as hunkar beğendi, Their Küçükağa special pide, mince meat pide and köy peynirli yumurtalı pide and we loved it all. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Thank you for the good experience🙏

Nice and friendly staff. They tried their best to communicate with us through the language barrier. Food was delicious, I especially liked the lamb soup. Their pide(? not sure what it's called, but it's their version of pizza) was also tasty and made in their own woodfire oven. Would recommend 😊 However, one downside is their vegetarian options are not very extensive and somewhat unclear on the menu, but the cheese and mushroom pide are vegetarian.
