Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Potter Park Zoo is a diverse animal sanctuary in Michigan, housing 350 creatures from around the world. From African lions to Alaskan moose, Amur tigers to Arctic foxes, and Bactrian camels to North American bald eagles, the zoo offers an array of wildlife experiences. Visitors can also observe red pandas and snow leopards while learning about their training through the zoo's YouTube channel.
Visited on a Sunday around 11:00 AM. Paid $5 for parking for being a non-resident (residents are $3 I believe). They accept cards and cash. Plenty of parking and a playground near the zoo also. My zoo admission was free for being a member of a reciprocal zoo. That being said, the zoo is a great size, perfect for two-hours walking at a slow pace My kiddos loved all the photo opportunities, the petting zoo, and interactive elements. We also loved the reptile house, rhino, and lion. There were a few restrooms spread throughout, plenty of benches, and one main area for food. It appears they are doing construction too. Overall, we really enjoyed the zoo and would definitely return.

Sure! Here’s a playful and slightly mysterious-sounding review, based on your prompt: --- Review: Whispering Pines Zoo Tucked away in the thick of overgrown trees, Potter Park Zoo offers an experience unlike any other. The canopy is so dense it casts everything in permanent twilight, giving the place an oddly secretive feel—like you've stumbled upon something not entirely meant to be found. But make no mistake: the animals are everywhere. From curious lemurs watching silently from high branches to camels that you ride and even a bongo, this zoo feels more alive than most. You don’t just view the animals here—you sense them. Around you. Behind you. Always just out of clear sight. Staff presence is minimal, but that only adds to the mysterious charm. It’s not unsafe, just…wild. Very wild. If you’re looking for neat pathways and tidy enclosures, this isn’t it. But if you want something raw, shady, and teeming with life, Potter Park Zoo is worth the adventure.

I am absolutely impressed with this little gem! We drove up from Indy just to visit and I can say we absolutely loved it! The grounds are well kept and maintained which was an absolute pleasure, it felt like both the animals and the staff were treated well. The park itself is a little bit small but do NOT let that sway you, there are so many fun things to enjoy at every turn! I think my favorite part was the sensory garden, I loved the herb tasting area. Maybe my second favorite part was the quiet zone lol, we were there the same day as an elementary school and having a little area deep in the foliage was such a nice break, it 100% gave me my second wind I needed to get the last few animals in!! Overall I think this trip was absolutely worth it, from start to finish this entire process was a very easy and enjoyable experience!
Janiese R — Google review
The zoo is clean and easily marked to follow on the path but is very small. After taking our time with the exhibits, from start to finish it took just over an hour to get through. So I’d consider it a little pricey for what you all see, considering you have to pay for parking AND admission. It is definitely geared more toward younger children as well, 5 and under it seems. Decent little outing though.
Shelby C — Google review
We love this zoo. All the animals was out being active. We even watched a turtle get weighed. We enjoyed The Boo at the Zoo. It was a great experience and very nice volunteers. I wish the hay ride was operating during our visit but we can't control the weather. We still had a great time
Pattie B — Google review
I love this zoo! The exhibits are large and clean, the walkways spacious. There are very cool animals here and you can tell they're well loved. The Zookeeper Notes signage is great-names, dates, special facts, etc. I think Doppsee and Phineas (Rhinos) are my favorite non-cat animals, but I love every animal here! I love that you can buy art created by the animals in the gift shop! I got rhino art, bat-eared fox art on magnets and feather ornaments!
Wendy L — Google review
My daughter, my husband and myself went on a school field trip to Potter Park Zoo. We had an amazing time!!! We waited less than 1 minute to buy an extra entrance ticket and we were on our way. We started at about 10 am and left about 1 pm. We also visited the gift shop to look around and get a bracelet where she can track a certain animal. She has multiple animals that she tracks, like the whale shark, and a hammerhead shark. There a lot of different animals than at other zoo's, like the Tamarin, which followed my daughters movements and wanted to be close to her. There were exotic animals like a tiger and a lion, as well as barnyard animals, like the goats and cows. There numerous species of birds, including my favorite, the Bald Eagle.
Melissa H — Google review
I visited Potter Park Zoo on a Sunday with my family and had a great time. The zoo has a nice variety of animals and is a peaceful, family-friendly place to spend the day. We were excited to see lions and a tiger, along with many other animals. The environment was clean, well-maintained, and enjoyable for all ages. A great spot for a relaxing day out!

The Impression 5 Science Center, located in Downtown Lansing, has been a popular destination for families since 1972. With over 150 educational play activities and interactive exhibits, this long-running science center offers hands-on learning experiences for children. From bubble-themed and Spectrum light and mirror exhibits to building zones and a nuclear experience, there are plenty of opportunities for kids to engage in fun and educational activities.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND, there is so much for kids to use their minds and have fun doing to while they learn. We spent about 3-4 hours here and well worth the money. This is a great family adventure to do together and all ages will enjoy. Although, if your kids or grandkids are like mine and enjoy water you may want to bring an extra shirt, 😂. My 3 and 8 year old grandkids loved this place. And all it has to offer. There is even a sensory area upstairs which is awesome.

There are so many different things to do here. It is so affordable(and they have a ton of different deals especially If you’re a member of different things to get you discounts on your tickets to get in) we were there for hours and I still don’t think we did everything and I took my two younger nephews which are one and a half and 2 1/2 and they absolutely loved it

Wonderful hands on museum for kids and adults of all ages! Plenty to see and do, from water, to wind and all with a science theme and explanation! Family and kid friendly, staff is courteous and kind. Parking can be a bit tricky but don't get discouraged, something will open up, even if you have to take a short walk! Experience Impression 5 today!

So parking isn't too bad. They have a small parking lot and could park behind it looked like to. If you have ebt, mihealth or wic you can get in $2 per person if you have your card. This place is great for kids. Whole things interactive and your able to touch and play with about anything. Large gift shop and many activities.

It is a fun place with lots of varied and interactive 'labs' for kids and adults to enjoy - however, many of the exhibits did not function very well. I'm sure it takes a lot of upkeep for stuff like this, but perhaps more of the admission cost should go into maintaining the features.
Shane M — Google review
We take our kids here every time we're in the area. The kids love the hands-on exhibits. It's fun to explore the exhibits with the kids. We spent about 2 hours here. We always renew our ASTC membership so we can visit Impression 5 and the Science and Industry museum in Chicago. Great place for kids!

Glad we went on a school trip. I won’t go there anymore. It needs an upgrade for sure. It’s not really anything to do. It’s boring. It’s really just stuff there. The water area is 100 yrs old. The so called play area upstairs isn’t really much playing it’s you look for educational purposes. It’s no food here. Must bring your own. It’s a vending machine of snacks the drinks everything is sugar free. By the water area it’s just inflatable body parts. Then it’s the gift shop “The only upgraded area there that looks good”. I won’t go again it’s boring. The one we have is freshly built and upgraded with things for kids to actually do.

Whoever was working the front desk today deserves credit. She was so friendly knowledgeable professional and polite! We became members after coming in today. What an awesome, clean, interactive place for kids. I brought my baby and he had a blast.

Arenas & Stadiums
Jackson Field, also known as Oldsmobile Park and Cooley Law School Stadium, is a modern sports venue located in Downtown Lansing. It is the official home of the Lansing Lugnuts and has a seating capacity of over 11,000. The stadium recently underwent a $22 million renovation to ensure it remains competitive with other minor league stadiums across the country. In addition to baseball games, Jackson Field hosts various events and concerts throughout the year.
It was extremely fun, my great-niece had a blast. She was able to go into the bouncy house, and the slide, we got a baseball bat slurpee, met Bluey, & ate food. If you haven't been, it's a must. Plenty of seating, food, beverages, popcorn, ice cream, & much much more. Definitely a family affair & for anyone else who wants a bit of fun with a beer & a game. Thanks, Jackson Field/LugNuts/Bluey for a great & fun day. 🙋🏽‍♂️⚾️🧢😊

Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the food and drinks too. Fantastic fireworks display. The city needs to work on parking. It took nearly 40 mins to get out of the lot because cars had to pay on the way out. Would be better if the attendants that handed us our tickets just charged on the way in. That's not the Lugnuts' fault, though. Just wanted to give a heads up.
Michel P — Google review
What a great right downtown Lansing. We saw the Lugnuts win a game. Looks like they have other activities here also. When we walked in the first thing we heard and seen was a blues band playing before the game. Very exciting atmosphere. We enjoyed one of their beautiful suites.

I have been watching the Lugnuts for 25 years. Jackson Field is one of the best minor league baseball parks I have been to and I have been to a bunch. Great value for a pleasant family outing.

There's nothing like a first-time attendance at a great ball game with family and friends! I don't understand the game of baseball really well. But it sure did unexpectedly lift my spirit from a sad place! And this game stadium was not too packed either, which I personally liked! They were busy but not too crowded. I noticed that the "E" in the Pepsi-Cola sign, the bottom of it had been knocked out by a foul ball at some point! LOL! The kids behind us, we're quite loud, but when it came time for the person up to bat to swing, the place was relatively "quiet"! (And then it got loud!) What a great experience! The food was actually really good. They have pizza at the east end and tacos at the west end! I especially loved the pretzel with cheese, very filling too! And the bathrooms were surprisingly clean, much cleaner than I would have expected them to be. Also, you can't carry a purse or a backpack or anything big, nor metallic into the stadium. (Yes, car keys are okay.) I got frisked because I forgot that my cane for walking was metal! And it set off the alarm! LOL! But my small pencil-case-like-pouch with my insultin pen and my medications in it was easily accepted. But be sure to bring your credit card because they don't accept cash anymore. (At least the vendors that I approached) And boy are things expensive! It was $6 or $7 for a 20 oz bottle of water!

It was the night honoring Peanuts' 75th anniversary and they were giving out 'bobbleheads' to the first 1000 people. We got there in plenty of time. 2 ladies were going through the lines making sure bags were in regulation. They were pleasant enough. The gentleman at the gate, not so much as a smile on his grumpy face. Got our 'bobblehead' and come to find out it doesn't 'bobble'! Oh well. Food it quite pricey (as it is in most stadiums) and seems to be the same at a lot of the windows. This was a fireworks night and they lasted about 15 minutes.
Julie — Google review
We booked for a group event. The only disappointment was how far the food area was from our seats, it made the unlimited soft drinks option pretty unusable. The stadium map made it appear that the area was right behind our seats and a quick trip back n forth. Our seats were great. The stadium was clean. The game was fun. Parking was kind of a pain. Overall a good time and we'll probably come back one day.

The shopping center itself boasts an array of dining options, grocery stores like Kroger, and various other retail outlets. Additionally, ample free parking makes it convenient for visitors to run multiple errands in one go.
Great strip mall. The sketchers store is fantastic, they have a great selection and good deals. I am a fan of the World Market store and Olgas restaurant. It's a nice day trip shopping at all of the stores with plenty places to eat.

We love, love, love this Red Lobster. We live closer to the Novi and Ann Arbor locations but always drive the extra miles to come here. The servers here are always excellent. Jennifer, Melissa and Tori are just a few of the awesome staff here. They go out of their way to make sure you have an outstanding dining experience every time. The food is always hot and prepared to order. We love the Wednesday Steak and Lobster special and today I got the new Spend-less shrimp and have a new love. The portion is huge and the price is right! Keep up the great work!

Lots of different shops and stores. Personally I go here to Liberty Coin to buy and sell Precious metals and coins(Gold, silver, platinum etc) the only issue I have with Frandor SC is the traffic situation is Terrible! 🤦😒

Kicking out CATA covered bus waiting shelters is crazy. I've had to wait in the rain several times and recently inquired as to what deal is here. Only to find out they were removed. Fortunately the bus serves many other accommodating business areas where I'll direct my money from now on.

Steak house
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of downtown Lansing, Bowdie's Chophouse offers a delightful dining experience that beautifully marries rustic charm with an elegant ambiance reminiscent of lower Manhattan bistros. This steakhouse is dedicated to providing top-notch service and high-quality ingredients, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The menu features an array of international dishes, including escargot and ceviche, alongside hearty soups, fresh salads, and a variety of seafood options.
Quite simple of all the places I have ever attended and reviewed this may have been the best overall food and experience and it’s not even close! From the amazing service making me feel like home (if home was a mansion with ten butlers and personal chefs) to the insanely delicious food! I ordered a roasted half chicken which if not in the proper setting I would have eaten down to the bone marrow. The lobster tail experience alone was worth the price of admission. The server brought it over then with two forks in one hand while the other had a baby knife he cut the tail out of the shell and prepped it with butter on another plate then served it to me!! Insane!! The only down side was the toast they gave in the beginning as their version of bread and butter. Otherwise there was zero part of the experience that was not perfect. Beware if parking out back the spots are weirdly angled and then the back entrance brings you through the actual back kitchen and you have to walk through a tight space to get to the front desk. No reservation be prepared to wait for the bar.
Brandon N — Google review
Way smaller than the Grand Rapids' location, this Bowdie's was way more quaint, intimate and cozy. The food was just as delicious and the drinks were just as strong. They offer a similar menu, but also have a store specific item, such as the Duck Ravioli. Our server explained that Lansing was the reason for being able to open the Grand Rapids, and you could see why. The wait staff were all very friendly and attentive, making it a perfect spot for our date night.
Renata C — Google review
We were recently there for a celebration dinner, neither of us had been there previously. We were told it was the best steak in Lansing. After our experience, I have to agree. I had the fillet, and it was perfection. This place is not large, very few indoor tables, so get a reservation. When we were there, my only note would be that the place is not a quiet place for dinner. The environment is lovely, but a little louder than I expected. The food was so good that I didn't really notice until the end. Definitely recommend, but with reservations ahead of time.
Pat H — Google review
We went here on a recommendation from a friend for our 14th wedding anniversary. It was definitely an amazing place. It is quite small, though, so you must have a reservation because the tables fill up fast. I definitely recommend, but an FYI: it's on the high end for pricing.
Amanda W — Google review
I’m taking one star off because the escargot didn’t meet my expectation at all (unlike the ones I had in Paris) 🥲 but filet mignon & fries are great. The atmosphere is quite nice but the tables are close to each other and your neighbors can be loud sometimes.
Lin L — Google review
Ok so the positive first! They have an amazing ribeye steak. It is flavorful and cook to perfection. I also tried the bone marrow appetizer but, I couldn’t eat it because of the way it was prepared. It was running and I couldn’t stomach the look. Lastly, I tried truffle fries that were just ok nothing to brag about and, the salad was cooked and served warm. Maybe the put the lettuce on the grill or something. Way too much parmesan cheese. If yr looking for intimate and quiet then this is NOT the place. It is very noisy and not much space. Seems like many local come a s drink here and hang out. I’d get a take out next time.
Wendy B — Google review
This is the go to place in the greater Lansing area if you're looking for fine dining and great a steakhouse. food is always spot on. The lobster mac and cheese the truffle fries are excellent. The fillet is always perfect!
Ahmed S — Google review
PHENOMENAL…. but…. I will start off by saying… this place is tiny. So, if you try to do a walk in, odds are you won’t get in. Tried that twice, no luck. Finally was able to get in with a reservation and I was not disappointed! You absolutely MUST get steak here. Do not get sea bass or chicken - go for what they are known for!!!!! Ignore the reviews about all the other items! The Cowboy Ribeye was phenomenal!!! Seriously perfection. We got bleu cheese and the horseradish sauce to garnish our steaks, but the steaks were juicy and seasoned so well, that we barely touched the garnishes. So don’t get garnishes! To make the experience even better, get the Brussels with Pork Belly as a shareable side. I could do without the belly, but the dish was tasty together. Lastly, the Nightcap drink was delish and hit the spot. I went in not thinking too much given the small space and the fact that the table next to us was a group of very loud business men that were so loud it was hard to speak at my own table (why I gave 4 stars for atmosphere.) They left toward the beginning of our dinner, thankfully. Regardless of that, I walked out with much delight from my experience. I will definitely be returning when I’m in the steak mood. But come hungry because the steaks are large. Service was wonderful as well! We were told it might take a bit of time for our steaks after ordering since they are large, but it didn’t feel long at all. Highly recommended!

Let’s just say I was not expecting this to be SO GOOD! My bf and I went and he got a huge omelette it was jam packed with the fillings and the potatoes were absolutely on point!! The pancakes were ginormous and our server was calm, collected, and super cool even when the restaurant was pretty busy. Thank you to Noah for a great dining experience! We will be back and appreciate the hard work 💗

Best hometown Breakfast in town! Heart of MSU Spartans campus! Owners and Staff treat you like family. Noel is our favorite waitress and takes care of us every time we are lucky to get her. The whole atmosphere is family oriented and help each other out like we are at “grandma’s house” for breakfast or lunch! Clean and organized for how small and how much traffic comes through!

Great Coneys, both the Detroit and Flint style. I came in and sat down, less than 2 minutes later the waitress was taking my order, 5 minutes later my food was on the table. A Great spot to hit for lunch while working downtown Lansing. This is definitely on my lunchtime rotation.

This was a BEAUTIFUL ( food wise ) place to find while in town. The food was on point. I like my Eggs scrambled real soft, and that us how they showed up, the gravy on the chicken fried steak was were it should be, in flavor, thickness, and the amount of sausage in it. The wife's veggie omelet, with a side of Chile cheese fries, was so on point as well. We consume more than we normally would because it is good. Our waitress was kind enough. She came to the table often enough for refills, and the other waitress was checking with the coffee pot. Anytime we are in town, this will be one of our new normals.

5 stars definitely 😎💓 Excellent free customer Wi-Fi here, that is much appreciated. Update 9 Sept '25 Brandy and Wayne are awesome. Happy employees who quietly sing along with the soft rock playing on the radio is always a good sign 😁. Food was amazing, not many cooks can properly brown hash browns or American fries, but mine were perfect ✅. Had cheese omelette, dry wheat toast w/ Strawberry jam, American fries with a side of their homemade sausage gravy 😋, and hot black tea. The extra creamer cup of hot water is a nice touch, gives you room for a bit of ice and a refill. Well done everyone, I still love this place 💓 Older reviews... Amber and Heather are great, thanks 😊 Crew is friendly, professional, experienced, awesome, well trained, and very fast even when it's at 100% capacity ( which is often) . Food is delicious, very clean place, love the open diner seating and the counter area. Prices normal for good quality food. Owner is nice and seems to works well with the crew. Too bad the hours are limited. May not be easy to find an reliable evening crew in this area , tbh... Try to keep the counter clean, and check the silverware, my butter knife was not clean. I did work here years ago when Sparty owned it , I had fun and made a little $. The crew was awesome back then too...
Robert B — Google review
The food was not good at all. I ordered two pancakes, scrambled eggs, against my better judgement had bacon. It took me far too long to cut up the pancakes. I have never experienced a breakfast so bad. I thought by taking it with me it would be better later. So once I was done with my business there and headed home I ate the food hours later and the pancakes still gave a challenge with cutting them down further. The eggs were horrible. They reminded me of wax eggs you see on TV. The bacon was far too hard for my teeth. I don't eat pork and THAT BACON made me realize why I don't. Now the orange juice was delicious it had the right amount of pulp how I like and it was cold. My waitress was sweet and she made sure she checked on me. So I gave her a tip for that. But that food I ordered let me down big time. I was already there a hour early and just wanted something to eat before I conducted the business at hand. But generally the overall feel of the place was nice and I can tell people frequented their often and knew what to order, whereby I didn't. So I will leave you with this, if you should go make sure you know what to order. Because it doesn't seem all bad. The price was I thought that was quite pricey. I don't believe that it was handicap accessible. And it was overall clean it had a fresh smell to it also so I was impressed by that.

Looking for an authentic Detroit style coney dog but can’t get to downtown Detroit? This is the place. As good or better than any I’ve had in Detroit area. Also serve Flint style. Fast friendly service. Great classic diner breakfast place. Warning: the hotcakes are HUGE and delicious!

On a whim we stopped at Spartys for brunch. Some of the prices shocked us (the meatlover omelet for $17.50) but then other prices were great. My husband got the smoked sausage omelet and I got the gyro with onion rings. We shared a plate of chili cheese fries. I was surprised that the gyro didn't come with feta on it so I added it. I was pleasantly surprised by how much feta they put on it, as well as how much tzatziki was on it. I have been craving a gyro and I was not disappointed at all. My husband was pleased with his omelet as well. The chili cheese fries were underwhelming I would say. Not a lot of flavor at all. The server was friendly and attentive without being annoying.

Nestled in the heart of Lansing, Batter Up Bistro is a delightful spot that captures the essence of comfort and sophistication. As you step inside, you're greeted by warm sunlight streaming through large windows and the soothing sounds of classic tunes filling the air. The inviting atmosphere encourages you to unwind while enjoying a menu brimming with delicious options. During my recent visit for lunch, I savored their French Onion soup—a dish so rich in flavor that it left me eager to return for breakfast!
Wow, what a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The place itself is absolutely stunning, just breathtaking! Alex really went above and beyond, making everything feel so special for me. Seriously, the service was top-notch and made my night! I'll definitely be coming back! Cari, the owner was so kind and made all the food herself

Food was beautifully platted but minimally seasoned, this could also be because I got the veg omelette. The service we received was top tier. It really served like they love their job. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. I was surprised to find a place like this in Lansing and plan to show my support more! You should consider giving it a try!

We stopped in before the Lugnuts game for dessert and drinks. The atmosphere is fantastic, cozy seats, and warm lighting. The service was top notch, and the dessert and drinks were perfect. We are definitely looking forward to going back for dinner at some point soon, the menu is not very big, but everything on it looks great. Definitely check this out if you are in the area, you won't regret it.

Beautiful atmosphere. Carmen was great. Food was wonderful and presented lovingly like a Martha Stewart Show. Took a while to get served and took a bit long from the kitchen, maybe they need more staff. Just expect to be here to enjoy conversation and the atmosphere.

Batter Up Bistro has a beautiful interior with a well-thought-out design and cozy atmosphere. We arrived close to closing time, and they mentioned that a large group had been there earlier, so they were out of some menu items, especially bread. While the food was flavorful, the potatoes weren’t fully cooked, and the heavy use of butter made everything feel overly greasy. Another downside was the lack of service after our food arrived—no one came to check on us to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. With better service and attention to food consistency, this place could be much better.

Omg! Don’t miss out on this gem! Excellent service, our server Adrienne, had great recommendations for food and drink and things to do in the area. There is patio seating, we came for brunch, and it was one of the best BLTs I’d ever had! We’ll be back!

Really love this restaurant. I got the most fantastic cherry pistachio coffee that had this decadent Chantilly cream on top. We all had breakfast. I had a BLT/egg sandwich with the breakfast potatoes. Ahh May zing. The bacon had a sweet maple like coating on it. Lovely time.

I LOVED THIS PLACE! My mom and I were in town for my gymnastics meet and, before training, we decided to stop here for some lunch. The atmosphere is very calm and the aesthetic is perfect. There was a short wait for the food as everything is made on the spot but, trust me, it's worth it. I ordered the Spicy Life-Changing BLT and it was truly life-changing; probably the best BLT i've ever eaten! The bread was buttery and crunchy, the produce was fresh, the bacon was perfectly cooked, and the sriracha sauce tied everything together. 10/10 recommend if you're ever in the Lansing area.

Service is always excellent, staff members are kind and attentive to dining needs. Joe is amazing and one of the best servers on staff. I tried the strawberry shortcake which was made by Peter. Amazing dish. The strawberry compote was fresh and the raspberry chocolate ganache was a perfect balance between sweet and tart and the entire dessert incorporated different textures of crunch and gooey. I would recommend to anyone and thank the staff for placing it on the menu!

Came here because of a Groupon deal. Otherwise, I think the food is a bit overpriced. Service is not the best because college-kids-don't-care theory in action again--probably why they're not doing so great and promoting on Groupon. 1. Asked for a secluded area, and was seated in the most visible table. 2. The waitress never came to tell us she was leaving and the new waiter had to introduce himself to us, awkward...

First time back since COVID. The dinner menu is smaller than before, but still have plenty of local beer and wine options. Ordered Mini Lump Crab Cakes (3 for $15), Charcuterie Board ($17), Venison ($37), 6 oz. Char-Grilled Filet ($39), Lake Perch ($26), Homemade Passionfruit Sorbet ($7).

My date and I experienced the State Rooms sunday brunch buffet this weekend, it was fantastic, the salmon with chardonnay sauce was my favourite. Our waiter was excellent along with our host. I would recommend making a reservation and to note that one can reserve a more private dinning room similar to a conference room. They served Paramount brand coffee, we purchased a pound of from the restaurant before we left. I recommend the State room for a more upscale brunch option.

This review covers four meals over the course of a three day stay at the Kellogg Center. Meal One was the best of the bunch. Kristen W was our server. She couldn't have been better. She was friendly and attentive to all of our needs. I had the small Bistro salad. It was fresh and tasty. Among the best I have had. I followed that with the Smoked Turkey and Lentil Soup. Though just the slightest bit salty it was very tasty soup. My entree was the special of the day; Adobo rubbed pork loin. It did not disappoint. Followed that with some MSU Dairy Chocolate Ice Cream to end a satisfying meal. Day 2 lunch was a bit underwhelming. Due to a conference at the hotel the restaurant was busy. Ordered crispy chicken sandwich and fries. Everything took way longer than it should and the food was on the overcooked side. Somewhat dry. Took a long time to get check and even longer to get change. Day 2 dinner. Darrel M was our server. Again I had the small Bistro salad. Again it was excellent. Followed that up with a bowl of Smoked Turkey and Lentil soup. The portion was very small for a Bowl. It was not filled sufficiently but was still tasty. Had the New York Strip for entree and it was cooked as ordered and well seasoned. Day 3 Lunch. Conference still going on. Staff still overwhelmed by the number of diners. Ordered something simple, a burger and fries. Burger was ordered Medium. It was dry and somewhat tasteless. Learned a lesson from previous lunch and requested check at time of food delivery. Still took just over an hour from start to finish. Restaurant knows when conference is at hotel. I think they could do a little better job staffing appropriately so the dining experience at lunch time was better. If I could give two separate reviews it would be four stars for dinners and Two stars for lunch. Thus the three star review.

Meat BBQ is a popular dining spot in Lansing, MI that has been serving up Southern-style barbecue for about 10 years. The restaurant started small but has since expanded to accommodate the growing crowds of barbecue enthusiasts. With a larger dining room and an original kitchen unit, Meat BBQ offers slow-smoked barbecue classics and creative homemade sides for both dine-in and takeout.
Sat at the bar and had amazing service from the bartender, she made a lovely lavender lemonade cocktail. We ordered pulled pork, wings, french fries, mac n cheese, bbq pit beans, and spicy creamed corn. It was a lot of food for two people, but we wanted to try multiple sides. The spicy creamed corn lived up to its name, and the mac n cheese might be my favorite - next to the fries. I really loved the pork too, tried it with every sauce - a must. Wings were good but a tad chewy, I would like to try the brisket and the ribs next time. Everything was great down to the cornbread, will be back for more.
Hannah M — Google review
Went right when they opened at 11 so there was no concern of being out of any meats or sides. The cream corn is decently spicy. The fries are crispy and delicious. The cornbread is very buttery, a bit bland maybe need honey. The Mac and cheese isn't bad, but would be best with meats mixed in. Lots of BBQ options, but overall the best is the traditional one. Everything was filling and good. Can't complain about any meat being dry or bland. You get plenty of food for the price, so if you order an appetizer, be prepared to take home about half of whatever you order for an entree.

Stopped in for lunch at Meat BBQ and it was outstanding. The atmosphere has that perfect balance of laid-back and lively — a true local gem. I ordered the Build Your Own Mac & Cheese with sausage and chorizo, and it was incredible — creamy, spicy, and served in a skillet literally the size of a small pizza. Easily one of the best macs I’ve ever had. My wife got The Chin-Gorilla sandwich (pulled pork, house pimento cheese, grilled pineapple, fried onions, and bacon) and couldn’t believe how good it was. Huge portions, fast service, and every bite packed with flavor. Definitely one of the best BBQ spots around Lansing — worth every calorie.

When I tell you this is some of THE best BBQ I've ever had....I mean it. And I have it everywhere, Texas, KC, Tennessee, everywhere. This place is up at the top. We got the brisket meat plate. Smoked Wings meat plate and the 1/2 rack pork spare ribs meat plate. EVERYTHING was amazing. Even the sides. Brisket was perfect, great smoke flavor ( even nicer smoke ring ) tender, juicy. Wings had great smoke flavor, nice and perfectly crispy but not burnt, juicy and flavorful. The ribs were top notch!! Great crust from the rub, also perfect smoke flavor, not dry but not fall off the bone ( aka over cooked in my opinion) get that perfect bite. The mac n cheese was REALLY good, had a little kick to it which I loved, but not over powering. The beans had a perfect balance of sweet and smoky flavor. And if all of that isn't enough, the atmosphere and location is the cherry on top. Lots of stuff to do close by even if you have a wait. We will be back....SEVERAL TIMES.....SOON.
Nick L — Google review
The Good: Thin paper towels on each table and an organizer of house sauces and ketchup. Ranch is available but not bleu cheese. Wings were flavorful and fatty The Better: All entrees came out hot and at the same time. Single-occupant bathrooms. Options to eat inside, covered ceiling with open windows, or open air patio style. The Mac and cheese was better than anticipated, with thick real cheese sauce and soft noodles. The Best: Warm and welcoming server who knew the menu well. The brisket was tender and presented as a slab so you get all the best parts (fatty, crusty, juicy, etc.) The fries were ridiculously tasty- crispy and seasoned

Great barbecue place that we visit every time we're in town. The atmosphere is very dark and dive bar style. We always enjoy our BBQ dishes. Love the different barbeque sauses you can try. Many beers on tap. Typically have a sports game on TV. We always come for lunch and never too busy.

Meat BBQ is a pretty good BBQ restaurant! The food is pretty fairly priced for BBQ. There are a lot of good menu options and sides as well. The sauces were all a bit interesting and pretty good! Overall, I enjoyed it. I will say that my dinner wasn’t a lot of food for the price in my opinion, but also, I’m a big eater so that could just be a personal thing. Definitely would recommend though!

I want to preface this review by saying that my wife and I are currently mug club members at LBC and really loved this place at first. It actually sucks to give such a low review to a place I really wanted to love. But everytime we go in we are met by poorly trained staff and wrong hours. We met an old friend we haven’t seen in years here for dinner or at the very least a drink last Sunday at 5pm and we were met with a LOCKED front door. There was still customers eating outside and inside so we stood out front for a few minutes thinking someone would come along. Nope, no one did. They desperately need to get their hours right. Seems like everytime I’ve gone in the past couple of months they’ve been wrong. We ended up going down the road to sidecar slider bar where the food and drinks aren’t nearly as good as LBC but at least the servers know what they’re actually doing and we were served promptly. Also I called today to see about the promo they have posted on their Facebook pictured below. I’ve been wanting to try their Oktoberfest and figured if I could get a cool tacker sign with it that would be pretty sweet. When I asked I was put on hold for roughly 5 minutes just to be told “the contest ends tomorrow, then we will decide the winner of that”. I told the young lady you must of misunderstood me. It’s a sign you get with a 6 pack. It’s posted on Facebook. She said “oh! Facebook! Let me ask again” was put on hold again and when she came back she brought up the same exact contest. Clearly in the photo you can see this is not a “contest”. Seems every visit to LBC over the last couple months has been plagued with terrible training and confusion. My wife and I went roughly a month ago and the server had absolutely no idea that there was specials on the menu, and also had no idea the mug club even existed?? I had to explain to her, as the customer what the mug club was. Why? I really loved LBC at first, and had every intention of buying more merch and being a lifetime customer/club member. It felt like they really cared about Lansing, its history, and its people. But now it feels like just another corporation and their customers are just dollar signs to them.

Fun, downtown brewery close to the Lugnuts Stadium and the Capitol. Seating was plenty, both indoors and outdoors. The food was delicious with a variety of menu items to choose from. We enjoyed the Spartan Dip and Garlic Parmesan Bread Bites for appetizers. For dinner, we had everything from the Sweet Potato Salad, Ribeye, Mac & Cheese, Chef Salad, to the Chicken Tenders. Service was a bit lacking. It was difficult to get our waitresses attention, and then when we were ready for the bill, we saw her clock out and leave. It was until about 10 minutes later another person from behind the bar came to our table and when we asked if she had left, we were told she could leave because it was slow and that tips are shared. It wasn't slow, and our 2 other tables of 4+ experienced this.

Not a busy place Sunday at noon. Our server (Peter) did a great job of taking care of us. I was a little disappointed in the limited menu, but I sure do understand that staffing a full kitchen for a slow Sunday is tough, too. We enjoyed watching some football during lunch and had a game of corn hole outside before we left. Great time!
Correy S — Google review
Spacious venue with adequate food and below average beer. It's said that it's difficult to do both beer and food well, but Lansing Brewing Company has settled for doing both in a rather mediocre fashion. Of the beers I tried the Mexican lager was probably the best, with the Vienna lager in second. The ales are not very good. They could probably go a longer distance with a good staff, but their servers are more interested in socializing at the bar than tending to their tables. A server should never be literally seated at the bar talking while they have open tickets.
Andy G — Google review
Our first visit and we chose to sit at the bar so we could ask about the various beers. The beers we tried were very good and their cocktail menu looked good too. Ordered a burger and it was large, juicy and delicious, but a little messy. We were not given or offered any silverware or napkins when our food came. I kept stealing the little drink bar napkins until I finally got the servers attention to ask for a real napkin. Big service miss in my eyes especially since it was not very busy and we were always right there in front of the two people behind the bar.
Barbara J — Google review
Typical gastro pub. Food is not as important to most patrons as the drinks. Not that the food is bad, just average while the choices in each category is more limited than a normal restaurant. I tried the shrimp mac and cheese since I was told it wasn't spicy. It was spicy and the shrimp was on the side. Another in our party got the rock shrimp since she was told it wasn't spicy and had to take the breading off to eat it. Music a little loud, but still able to hear that people at the table. They seem to have lots of seating but on busy times you should get a reservation.
E. S — Google review
We came here in the mid afternoon and it was pretty quiet. We sat down and waited to be greeted by a server for over 10 minutes, ordered our drinks and then we had a new server. We were pretty happy with the new server, she was friendly and attentive and was attentive tonwhen our drinks were getting low. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere was really nice.

Thank you to the players and the staff of the stadium. My kids had alot of fun. We attended last nights game and it was a fun and meaningful experience. Thank you #9 Clark Elliott for staying after and signing my kids baseballs. You were very patient and my oldest son said that was the coolest baseball experience he has ever had! We had a fantastic time at Star Wars Night with the Lugnuts! The atmosphere was super relaxed and fun, and the kids absolutely loved meeting all the characters—especially Darth Vader! Best family baseball experience bar none. It's fun, and the interaction with the audience makes it more than a ball game. It makes it a lifetime memory.

The field itself needs work The speakers weren't on or were not working so we could not hear the announcer while sitting behind the 1st base duggout. It made the whole experience a let down compared to other baseball fields. Start Wars theme was fun and the fireworks were great, but you could not hear the music it was timed to again because of the speakers. The food was as expected. Another star removed because they allowed religious solicitors outside the entries, who were loud, pushy, and trying to give stuff to my child.

Great place for family fun, dates, work parties, and groups of friends. You can expect fireworks after summer games, and there are play areas for kids. They do a good job keeping the crowd engaged and excited. There are many options for food and drinks as well. They do serve alcohol.

This is a fantastic ballpark! A full 360 concourse so you can walk all the way around. There are so many seating options around the entire ballpark! Tables, chairs, bars. Sit stand or wander. Don't miss the bar in left-centerfield. They have great drink options and another place to hangout and watch the game. There were a LOT of great food options! We decided to have the Philly Cheesesteak Nachos (in a helmet of course) and they were outstanding! Many craft beer options as well as some mixed drink options. Check out the impressive list of big-leaguers who have played in Lansing. They're listed on a wall on the concourse. The team store is rather small but had many options and some reasonable prices for a ballpark. Be sure to check it out!!

Love msu but breslin center security all need to get on the same page. At midnight madness asked security if I could take my sons signed poster too the car. "Ya not a problem.' 2 minutes later I walk back in and get pushed out the door by a rent a cop and said we're at compactly while 10 people walk out. I start yelling my kids are in there the security guard that told me it was fine to go out asked the other one but he was just in here. He just shakes his head as im yelling. Very very disappointing. Hope he's never put in that situation. I'm sitting in my car right now hoping they are ok. And if it was his first day on the job it showed. Blonde haired boy maybe 5 7" im guessing campus security. If you are reading this be thankful it was me for future reference I don't recommend putting your hands on someone before you ask or demand someone to do something. Might not be so lucky next time

The Breslin Center is a top-tier venue for basketball games, concerts, and major events at Michigan State University. As the home of MSU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, the atmosphere inside the arena is electric, especially when the Izzone student section is in full force. The energy and passion of Spartan fans make attending a game here an unforgettable experience. The arena itself is well-maintained, with comfortable seating and great sightlines from nearly every section. Concessions offer a solid variety of options, and the staff is friendly and efficient. The recent renovations have enhanced the overall experience, adding updated video boards, improved seating, and upgraded facilities. Parking can be a bit challenging on game days, but arriving early or using public transportation can help. The surrounding area offers plenty of dining and entertainment options for pre- or post-game activities. Overall, the Breslin Center is a fantastic venue that embodies the spirit of Michigan State University. Whether you’re there for a thrilling basketball matchup or a major event, you’re guaranteed a great experience. If you’re a Spartan fan or just love college basketball, attending a game at Breslin is a must!

Nice stadium, good fans, friendly staff. Only thing that pissed me off was that there is no WiFi, and when you’re sitting in the Sideline Club trying to order food, you can’t get enough of a signal to do so most of the time so the premium seating at least in that part is practically useless except for having a chairback seat and cup holder. Get with it MSU, it’s 2025. I won’t return until you do.

2025 season, great venue to watch college football, not a bad view in the entire stadium! Fans are loud, rowdy (maybe a bit too much) and very vocal. As of 2025 my biggest complaint is the cashless option that is forced upon you, the privatization of the concessions stands and the subsequent shortage of food options because of the privatization. Otherwise a nice experience to watch NCAA football.

Go Green! Go White! Go Spartans! My first homecoming game was a great experience, you had to be there 😅. Even though the Spartans lost to UCLA, I enjoyed the game, the atmosphere was electrifying, the MSU band was amazing. I enjoyed tailgating 😅 so much fun!! Incredible experience, I loved it!!! Go Green! Go White! Go Spartans!! Forever a Spartan!!!!
Nizah S — Google review
It's busy. I do not suggest heading to concessions between quarters if you have anxiety. We were packed in like sardines and at one point couldn't move and people started shoving. 5 stars bc the food truck on premesis.
Marie — Google review
Solid stadium. Haven’t noticed any view issues. Have only watched games from the upper deck. Ramps have plenty of room for walking up and down before, during, and after games. Definitely need to be able bodied. Classic stadium style seating is relatively tight but the sections are well labeled.
Steve M — Google review
I was sitting on the 50-yard line in the upper section. One men's room in the whole upper Deck. Add that with selling beer and it leads up to a disaster. Obviously this school doesn't exceed in engineering. At least Michigan won for the fifth year in a row.
Todd F — Google review
Was an awesome experience. The only downfall was that the outside bar at the stadium was punching in their own tips when people were buying drinks. I tried to talk to someone about it and they told me they didn't have time to talk to us because they were to busy!

Ice cream shop
The MSU Dairy Store is a popular spot at Michigan State University, offering homemade cheeses and creative ice cream flavors. The store uses milk from MSU cows to create delicious treats like Beaumont Brownie Bliss and Tuckers Scoop & Score. While it can get busy with locals, the wait is worth it. In addition to its delectable offerings, the store also serves soups and sandwiches. Visitors can explore the W.J.
This is not your ordinary ice cream. They have won ice cream awards including this year for number one college ice cream shop. They make all their ice cream on campus from the dairy cows. It's personally One of the past if not the past ice creams in Michigan. If you stop by when they're busy, lines can be out the door. If you have a craving for some really Amazing ice cream It will be worth it!
Amy K — Google review
We got the mini for $3 each, the portion sizes were good. Service was fast and staff were friendly. However, the flavors were very mid/average. We got their two signatures. one was a vanilla with caramel and nuts , the other was vanilla with chocolate chunks and malt. We had high hopes as visitors to MSU, waiting in line for 30 minutes and for a place so famous. The first flavor I couldn’t taste what nuts there were because the pieces were so tiny, and the second flavor tasted like overwhelmingly fake chocolate. Both were also sickeningly sweet, neither of us could finish more than half of the mini size without feeling nauseous. Not good at all for us.
Rachel — Google review
Tried the ice cream at the MSU Dairy Store and it was absolutely amazing! The flavors were so rich, creamy, and fresh—it instantly reminded me of the authentic taste of ice cream back home in India. There’s something truly special about the texture and flavor here that sets it apart from the usual options in the U.S. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the entire experience felt warm and nostalgic. You can tell the ice cream is made with care and top-quality ingredients. Highly recommend this place if you're craving something sweet, flavorful, and truly satisfying. For me, it was a little taste of India right here in Michigan! 🇮🇳🍨💚
Lokesh C — Google review
Price is unbeatable. For $2.5 you get a big scoop, and waffle cone is additional 50cents. The flavor is lacking for the one I ordered though. Thought I had a peach flavor ice cream cus I couldn’t taste anything besides sugar, and then was reminded this is suppose to be a mango flavor ice cream. I think other flavors might taste better and will come back to try.
Z Y — Google review
I would definitely recommend everyone to try the Dairy Store ice cream. The ice cream is made right on campus, the flavors are rich, creamy, and constantly rotating with seasonal options. The serving sizes are generous, and the scoops are packed with flavor you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. A must try for all Spartans!!
Dibakar R — Google review
The ice cream is delicious! I tried a mini cup of Izzo Malted Madness and it was 10/10. The mini cup was definitely packed with more ice cream than they could fit and I enjoyed it, especially for that price!!! A must stop!! Service was great!
Omar G — Google review
Such a gem. The ice cream is insanely good, super creamy, tons of flavor options, and crazy cheap for the quality. Staff’s always friendly, and the vibe just feels classic college. It’s one of those spots you can’t go wrong with. 5/5.

Classic Big Ten agriculture dairy store with some great ice cream options. The store does draw a crowd, but the team is good at moving the line. There are a bunch of non-ice cream treats available as well.

Diner
Good Truckin' Diner, located in Lansing, MI, is a small and popular diner in Reotown known for its down-to-earth atmosphere and delicious menu. The diner offers a blend of classic American diner fare with unique twists, including street tacos, breakfast burritos, cereal milkshakes, and breakfast sandwiches. Good Truckin' Diner started as a food truck in 2014 before opening its doors as a family-owned diner in early 2015.
Fun place! There motto is, "better food, cool people", would agree Causal laid back, low key, and cool atmosphere. Would go back. We had the tacos, you could pick 3 for $11. Husband got hill Billy, n'awlins, and I got the cauliflower. Yum!! Salad was not bad just not my jam.

Went to eat breakfast after our walk. The food is good. They also make coffee drinks. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant is in Old Town in Lansing. The parking is curbside where available. You might have to walk a little. The service is good; but everything took a little time.
Linda G — Google review
Wow! What an amazing place! We waited maybe 5 mins for a table and we were serviced right away! This place had everything! And as someone who is a coffee lover, having their iced latte was AMAZING! Great portions and nothing is spared!
M H — Google review
Got a chance to visit their new old town location and had a great experience as always, with a lot more space for seating! Service was quick despite being quite busy and the food was as good as always! My wife is vegan and I’m vegetarian and they have a ton of great options for us. Definitely recommend trying it out!
Nick M — Google review
This place has a great selection of very interesting foods to choose from. The menu items are named after movies and TV references. The bacon was not so great, but the biscuits and gravy are to die for! The Bourbon Street French toast the Rocky mountain omelette and the hippie hangover we're also incredible. Cali was our waitress and even though they were full and busy she stayed right on top of everything and got us everything we needed when we needed it! Do yourself a favor and try the tacos. Literally, try all the tacos.
Davidsonian — Google review
Food was good, many options but as a diner I was expecting some fruit at least. Most of the options were heavy meals and I was not in the mood but settled with a salad. Coffee was great! There is a wait but we only waited for 20-30 minutes. Place is next to a cute shopping area of Lansing. Service was 10/10. Dishes were delicious but since my dish was more plain, it’s what you could honestly make at home. There’s a coffee place attached to the restaurant if you don’t want to eat in. Would I go out of my way for this? Probably not but if I’m in the area and want good coffee, I would recommend.
Vel P — Google review
Tried this place out for lunch today! Highly recommend! Tried the Steak Fiesta Burrito! It was really good! They have a variety of coffee lattes! The waffle fries were also really good! Loved the retro vibe! The new location has lots of space. Be prepared to wait for a table on the weekend it was about 40 minutes! Overall we will be back! Try this place out!

All you can eat. Just by luck, we got there at 1050a and so they charged us breakfast prices. Kids ate breakfast while we waited for lunch to start. Then everyone ate lunch. Free wifi. Huge variety of food. Clean bathrooms. Friendly says

Unless ypu have a TON of picky eaters....Brody has been over rated for several years now. Don't waste your money at Brody or at any other dining hall on campus. Would that price you might as well go to a steakhouse and get something you'll enjoy!
Chelsea T — Google review
The food at Brody is usually the best among all other campus dinning! They have plenty of options and caters various cuisines and customers with different allergies! I would recommend you all to visit this place especially during Student Welcome Dinner!

Lots of different options, a really cosy place to have lunch at MSU! Also open in the summer. Lots of vegetarian and international stands available, with a dedicated vegetarian stand.

It is hard to compare with Virginia Tech and Oklahoma University. Dated and ceiling feel 10’ old style Like a High School cafeteria...
Mark F — Google review
Liked the food choices and the variety. Very reasonable prices. Self service. Great for a quick bite of you are in the University area. But I am fairly sure students will get tired of the food eventually. Ambience is nice, even in summer it's fairly busy.

Good little Irish neighborhood pub right down the street from the Capital building nice location. Good place to see a band if you love throwing darts this is the place for you. Drinks are generous, and the prices are good.

Wonderful little pub. The olive burger was fantastic, a Lansing specialty. I was there on a Tuesday for the Jazz show. It gets pretty crowded, but everyone is friendly and having a good time.
Bradlee C — Google review
Very good service. Love the live music !! Tuesday nights Jazz groups at 7 pm. Student jam session starts afterwards. Great opportunity to allow students to gain experience in front of a live crowd.

Excellent food and service! Blackened chicken Quesadilla, Cajun chicken sandwich, and a sampler basket of Cajun fries, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and onion rings. Amazing!
Sheri G — Google review
Absolutely fabulous, dark but not dingy. Randomly in on a Sunday and they had live music as a charity for Special Olympics. Big fan. Server and bar tender were lovely and we had a very tasty quesadilla.
Ashe M — Google review
Moriarty's pub is very comfortable. The Tuesday jazz night is nice, but even arriving half an hour ahead of time, I still didn't get a table and had to stand the whole time. Very popular! No cover charge. The jazz was excellent. So was the beer and the prices. The food, from the burger, to the Reuben, and ham sandwich, they were unspectacular. The service was good, however. This is a place to visit for the ambience, the music, the comraderie and for playing darts. The food, it appears, is not their strongest suit and is there mostly to fill the need.
Tycho A — Google review
Excellent Lansing Pub, they have good food and are very careful when dealing with dietary restrictions like allergies. They have an Open Mic on Wednesday nights, and they have live shows other nights of the week as well. Drinks are affordable and strong. Great little place to stop in and check out.
Mars M — Google review
Lansing gem. Small pub, good bar food. Jazz Tuesday's!! What a great thing Jeff Shoup has going on Tuesday's! Great jazz music and great performers. The MSU jazz students also play, and the jam session for set 2 features some of these musicians. I'll be back!

I’ve been to this place all through my 4 years of undergrad and they’ve never once been short of amazing- today, I went to pick up a sandwich, and the incredibly kind cashier offered me an entree ticket because they were out of an ingredient. Absolutely incredible staff and I’m going to miss this place so much!
Kenny K — Google review
I used to absolutely love getting food here. Sandwiches were good, soup was great and even their shakes were amazing. Me and my boyfriend ordered a sandwich each today through the app and when we opened our sandwiches we realized that more than half of what we ordered was missing. I asked for cucumber and there was nothing. I'm vegetarian and I wanted a bunch of vegetables. I ended up with a mustard sandwich. My boyfriend had literally one piece of meat on his sandwich. We should have just went to subway if we would have known we were going to be skimmed. My boyfriend just stated that he has had a better sandwich from a gas station.
Melissa — Google review
First time to try Potbelly and I got a mediterranian sandwich with chicken, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts and cheese. The 9 inch long bread was toasted well and the ingredients were good. The style of the shop was kind of a bar with alot of old wood used all around so it was nice to dine in there.
