Food & Drink

Distilleries
Discover the world-famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery, where educational guided tours and tastings offer a deep dive into the production process of Australian rum. While in Bundaberg, visitors can also explore the Mon Repos turtle rookery, enjoy diving or snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, and go whale watching. The area's beautiful beaches provide a perfect setting to relax after exploring all that Bundaberg has to offer.
Very interesting and well worth the visit, children are also welcome on the hour tour. The lady was very knowledgeable with information about the distillery Disappointed with the food as there was only a sausage in a roll with onions $6.95 & feta cheese & spinach puffs but you had to go looking for the filling as it was dry and all pastry.
Raelene P — Google review
Loved hearing how world wide, award winning Bundaberg Rum is made from womb to tomb. How molasses is extracted from sugar cane and the product not used is turned back to the cane farmers to use as fertilizer for future crops. Very impressive operation which spans a great size and run by only 38 full time employees.
Kathy R — Google review
When you say Bundaberg you automatically think Bundaberg Rum and rightly so. This tour starts with a self guided tour of the Museum showing the history of Bundaberg rum which is very informative and jovial at the same time, and yes the polar bear is there. What follows next is a tour of where they make the rum. Our guides for the day were G and Taylor and they were fantastic, very knowledgeable and also full of “dad” jokes. Note you are not allowed to take cameras, phones, anything electrical whilst on the tour, this is for safety reasons. At the end of the tour you get to have two drinks of any of their range. Don’t worry if you are not normally a rum drinker as they will help you choose an alternative to your normal tipple. It is advised to book ahead as they can sell out. But I really think it is a must do when visiting Bundaberg.
Casandra T — Google review
Not being Rum drinkers we thought we’d take a tour and see if we could be swayed. The museum was really informative and an interesting part of Qld history. Our tour guide Jayden was a superstar! Funny (with all the Dad jokes) but full of information, fun and very upbeat. Great tour, great guide, great value with a couple of taste testers at the end. Were we converted?
Thomoszontour — Google review
It was an amazing experience, the staff were amazing, shoutout to our tour guide Deb for making it an unforgettable experience, I’d give them a 100 star rating if I could, I will definitely be going back to do it again and will be definitely going back and doing the blend your own rum experience
Ely A — Google review
Amazing drink prices! Very very fair tour cost of $30 and you get 2 drinks at the end. So only really looking at like $5 for the entire tour. The most expensive spirit there only sets you back $12 and a mango cocktail sushi was $15. If you like Bundy it is a must to go.
Jacob A — Google review
Great place to go & learn about the history aswell as taste test all the softdrinks. Kids really enjoyed it too.
Kell D — Google review
My friend and I joined the tour on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Amber and Sandy were both so cool and funny and they skillfully weaved in education with humour to keep our group laughing. Although we're both non-rum drinkers, we really enjoyed our tasting experience afterwards and spent even more time checking out the merchandise - they really have souvenirs for every type of person!

Seafood market
Restaurant
Grunskes by the River is a relaxed open-air restaurant known for its locally sourced seafood and expansive covered terrace with stunning views of the Burnett River. The establishment prides itself on catching most of its seafood, offering guests a unique opportunity to observe their fishing boats from the deck while indulging in a delightful seafood platter paired with a refreshing white wine.
I recently visited this lovely spot, and I was thoroughly impressed! The picnic area out the front is such a charming touch — perfect for a relaxing meal. There’s plenty of seating available, and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. While the prices are a little on the higher side for what you get, it’s well worth it for an occasional treat. I ordered the seafood basket and calamari — both were fantastic! Although I’m not usually a fan of oysters, the crumbed oyster was surprisingly delicious. The homemade sauces were also a delightful addition. I’d definitely love to return! One small piece of feedback — some of the staff uniforms resembled those typically seen in veterinary or clinical settings. A style more aligned with hospitality might better match the venue’s relaxed and inviting vibe. Overall, I’m one very happy customer!
Jasmyn F — Google review
Staff were more than accommodating with my meal selection and hospitality. Made me feel very much at home. The hot/cold platter was a little average for one person, as I was there to experience fresh local produce. Prawns were tasty but not as firm as expected. Bugs were a little on the average side. Oyster Kilpatrick beautiful for me. Would I recommend Grunske’s to seafood lovers… Absolutely
Marnie W — Google review
The view from grunske's eating area is pretty cool, over looking the Burnett river in Bundaberg. Plenty of outdoor eating areas upstairsand downstairs, with amazing food. Book in advance if you can, as this is a very popular place to come for a meal. Grunske's has limited parking, which we didn't mind as we got a park out on the street. The staff here are amazing, kind and very knowledgeable about the local area and their seafood. I highly recommend when in Bundaberg you come to Grunske's as a must do on your holiday itinerary, or even you're a local like me.
Mark M — Google review
Always friendly service. Attentive staff. The food was delicious. The platter was great, although this time it was missing oysters and prawns in the seafood basket part. Maybe due to availability. Each time, the platter gets smaller, unfortunately. I think when purchasing bottle soft drinks, we should have a glass of ice with it. Not drink it out of the bottle. Beautiful location!
Kylie F — Google review
Super nice location for a feed. Looking over the river is great. Always good food and prompt service.
John W — Google review
Excellent food, managed to get the last table as it was packed (and it was midweek). View of the river and an occasional Osprey made it even better. Will be back.
Nikki A — Google review
Lunch time with friends! Return customers! The restaurant has beautiful river view! The food today was not that tasty as before.
AURA A — Google review
Busy seafood suppliers and restaurant right on the Burnett River. We just stopped in for a coffee and a cake. There is outdoor seating for casual take away dinning as well as the open-air restaurant section. Very busy spot a hidden gem for visitors to the area. The only issue is that the signage to get to the place is really quite bad. It's an industrial area, and you don't expect a restaurant or fish market to be in that vicinity. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in Bundaberg.

Nestled in the heart of Bundaberg, The Old Bundy Tavern stands as a testament to Australia's rich pub culture, having served patrons for over a century. This historic establishment exudes charm with its Federation-era architectural features and warm community atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for travelers seeking an authentic taste of rural Australia while enjoying a refreshing drink.
Absolutely amazing! Decided to take my partner out for dessert as we were craving Apple Crumble. Walked into the bistro and up to the bar, and instantly had a warm welcome by one of the bar/service staff members. The Crumbles came out in quick time (even with being a very busy night) and the SIZE of the meal for the price is phenomenal. Great atmosphere with plenty of interesting photos and history to look at. Massive compliments to the chef. 100% recommend this place for a feed, no matter how big or small.
Annabelle O — Google review
The dining area was busy which was a good sign and the meals came out quite quickly considering the volume of people. The seniors fish and chips was very nice; moist and crispy. A good size for the price and was satisfying. The steak sandwich was very good also. Staff were pleasant.
Kylie F — Google review
Great lunch experience for our family. All staff we interactions were great. All the girls behind the bar were super friendly and accommodating. French Parmy, Mexican Parmy, kids fish/nuggets and chips. The "large" size Parmy is fairly hefty, so order the "petite" size if you aren't ravenous. No complaints with food quality, everything was delicious!
Col F — Google review
My first time here. I chose them because they still have eye fillet on the menu (so many others have taken it off). The eye fillet was amazing. Good quality, perfectly cooked to my request and everything was just tasty and satisfying. The service was sensational. All the staff were happy, friendly, helpful, accommodating. Shout out to the kitchen staff and to the service staff. You gave me a beautiful night and made me feel good after a big and long day at work. Thank you!

A very nice historical tavern with lovely dining rooms and a nice bar Excellent food but should have chosen the Seniors menu as the serving was huge, I couldn’t finish it

I highly recommend The Old Bundy Tavern to anyone wanting a relaxed environment, amazing food for a good price and staff that service you with a smile. They also take bookings for birthday parties or anniversaries.
Danny K — Google review
I had the Parmi Special, the chips were great, but the parmi had a bit of an unusual taste. That said, I'm currently unwell, so it might just be due to that. The portion size was generous compared to other local pubs in town. I would like to add also that everytime even if its not busy when ordering on the app/ Website the drinks always take forever like 5 minutes.
Lucas — Google review
We had lunch there today and had a great experience! Staff saw we were with children and offered to clear off a table next to their play room for us (plenty of clean tables available further away from play room), gave colouring in activities and was all up super friendly and helpful. Food was served very fast and absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend it 😊

Coffee store
Alowishus Delicious is a modern and bright cafe that offers classic breakfast and lunch options. It's the perfect spot for a quick gelato or a delicious milkshake. The cafe also boasts an array of local-inspired gelato flavors from their gelato cart, adding to its charm. You can grab your coffee or milkshake from the grab-n-go cafe station on Bourbong St or enjoy it at the quaint tables in Earls Court Arcade.
First time to Maryborough, just visiting, and to Alowishus and we enjoyed the place. I read some of the bad reviews and I was wondering if I was in the same place. The space is large, bright, welcoming and clean. The staff were friendly and courteous what else should one expect from staff? Why do people expect perfection when they go to a cafe? We ordered the steak sandwich and the BLT and both were very good. Freshly made, tasty ingredients, yummy Turkish bread and well presented. The chips were excellent. My coffee was very good and had a 'roasted' flavour that was different to other coffees I've had, but all coffee blends ARE different and it just comes down to personal taste. Prices, I thought were very reasonable in current financial circumstances. Local businesses need support, not just to survive but to improve their service. By all means criticize, but be nice and don't expect perfection! If I return to Maryborough, we will go back to Alowishus.

I was surprised by the beef curry rice here. It's more yummy than I expected. Smoothies are tastety. One thing I dont like is that the shop is too dark and doesnt look good as the pics on google. Hence, there are so many flies in the shop.

So disappointing! Took 40mins to receive our very basic breakfast and it was tiny when it arrived. Overcooked Halloumi, pale flavourless eggs. Coffee was good though and staff friendly.
Jess T — Google review
Great coffee, friendly service, food looks yummy too
Johnny B — Google review
A bit disappointing- ordered cappuccino with lots of froth & choc and said that was important to me but coffee lacked texture, not very strong and had no froth at all! The bacon and egg Turkish was filling and edible but not sure if the egg was reconstituted from powder or just a tasteless thick omelette. Wish I’d tried the cafe next door now :(
Rachel B — Google review
Excellent central coffee shop with a Melbourne vibe. Coffee was expertly made and tasted great. Cake was wonderful. Will make a beeline for this place next time we are in Bundy

Definitely served food, left less hungry than when I arrived. The brekky burger was choice of the day, went a bit hard on the relish though. Schnitzel and slaw semi-slapped. Very quick service to be fair. Give it a crack

Helpful and friendly staff member, well dressed and well mannered. The atmosphere was welcoming and makes you feel comfortable. 2 iced coffees, 1 cherry ripe slice and 1 berry tart. All of these came to a total of $28. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our experience.

Hinkler Central is a vibrant shopping hub that caters to all your retail and dining needs. This lively center features an impressive array of department stores, including Woolworths, Coles, and Kmart, alongside charming boutiques and discount shops. Whether you're in the mood for casual dining or just grabbing a coffee, you'll find plenty of options to satisfy your cravings. The layout is user-friendly for most visitors; however, those with mobility challenges may find certain areas less accessible.
Great place to shop with everything we needed. Toilets were very clean and accessible. Kmart was great and The Reject Shop is located here too. We enjoyed a frappe at Gloria Jean's

I've been here lots of time and have decided to give it a review today. There are lots of places to go to, see, buy, and visit at this site. Some of the stores to mention are: Woolworths, Coles, Liquorland, and Kmart. There are lots of food options here, and stores for clothes, footwear, eyewear 👓 discount stores, juices, and coffee shops just to say what is here. Go and check this place out. If you liked my review, please click the blue hand and let me know how i helped. See ya on the next one.

Hinkler has a number of useful shops and is clean and has good parking. I was able to spend a couple of hours walking around and shopping but it’s good for locals if you require groceries and basic items for your household.
Lisa M — Google review
Crazy parking. Not enough safe walkways in the carpark. You need to have eyes in the back of your head. As a first time visitor the driving lanes were tight with no signs for EXIT you need to look where everyone else was going
Dennis H — Google review
Legit not a safe place. They’ve now put up signs saying to leave scooters and e-bikes outside, which basically means leaving them unattended and at risk of being stolen. Instead of providing a secure option or safe parking for people who actually rely on scooters or e-bikes for transport, they just ban them completely. What makes it worse is that I’ve had my e-scooter stolen right under their eyes (had a bike lock, which was cut with a bolt cutter) — their security office is literally right next to the bike rack. Security did nothing about it and acted like it wasn’t their problem. They come across cocky and rude instead of actually being helpful or professional. It’s honestly disappointing that a shopping centre would rather threaten to confiscate scooters than make the place safer. Feels like they care more about control than customer safety or service.

I had a delightful experience at Bundy Viet's Taste, where I enjoyed a delicious sweet and sour chicken dish. The service was prompt, the prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was pleasant. If I were to make one constructive suggestion, it would be for the service personnel to appear more cheerful or at least smile. This would enhance the overall dining experience, as happiness is contagious and can positively impact others' moods. The food at this restaurant is fantastic, and the service is excellent.
Enjoyed their food. Would love to try other menu next time.

I made uber eats ordered pad Thai noodles and chicken pho. It wasn’t good . They should know more about pad Thai noodles how it test. It was one of the worst pad Thai I have ever had waste of money. Chicken pho soup wasn’t that bad but chicken was so dry. And also they should add some toppings not just beans spouts.

A long long wait for take away - 20 minutes, and only special fried rice. Then, the container wasn't even completely full - like they were rationing rice or something! Just so poor compared to other establishments when the container is so full they squash the lid on.... If I wasn't 35km away I'd take it back and request a refund! The least they could do would be to offer a partial refund. Avoid if possible.

My friend and I come every Thursday night to get a bubble tea and more often then not we get dinner here aswell. Every night the lady provides great service, she remembers our orders and preferences and makes it a great experience. The food is always great and they are happy to customize it and remove items such as vegetables.

Half filled container complete waste of money. Rubbish taste and food quality as well
Chris — Google review
Take note of the other reviews about gaps in containers because not only did I notice my lemongrass chicken container was 1/4 empty I also noticed that the bubblegum milk tea contained MORE THAN 3/4 ICE!!! 😳 It’s one thing to pay $8 for a milk tea but to not receive much of that drink is just unacceptable!!! I don’t enjoy being ripped off. You’ve lost me.

Fantastic Bistro Experience! The staff were absolutely amazing and so friendly. The bistro is nice and open, with heaps of menu options to choose from. I had the lamb cutlets — they were incredible! Honestly wish I could have them for dinner every night. The chips were divine — perfectly crispy. Big compliments to the chef! The girls working at the bistro were lovely. One of them was in training and she did a fantastic job — really polite, showed great customer service, and was so apologetic about a small delay. Overall, such a happy and enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back!

First of all, I went without a booking a table with my two 9-year-old children. I ordered the rump and ribs; my daughter, the fish and chips; and my son, the steak and chips, plus a cob loaf to share. I also ordered some cocktails. Honestly, the staff were amazing and friendly. The food was simple but so good—the best steak, ribs, and garlic sauce I have had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the cocktails were yummy. The staff didn't make it feel like a dingy pub, more like going to a family's house for dinner. Even though there was a very large party ahead of us, the food came out promptly. The waitress even remembered my comment about not being able to eat it all when the food first came out, as the portions are very generous. When she noticed we had finished, she promptly got us a takeaway container. I would highly recommend the metro to anyone looking for a nice meal in town and we will definitely be back again soon.

H20 Restaurant & Bar offers upscale dining with a stunning view of the Burnett River. The menu features sumptuous classics like Asian-spiced pork belly, crab pasta, and crispy barramundi, all made with local produce. Pair your meal with Aussie wines or locally brewed drinks. Located at the bottom of the Burnett Riverside Hotel, this riverside dining spot provides great service and a menu that includes dishes using local seasonal produce.
Incredible food, incredibly well put together with a dash of creativity. It was so lovely to meet both chefs Jimmy and Matthew. They rose to the occasion of creating something special to dazzle our taste buds! Couldn’t fault the service either! Wonderful experience 🥰

We went for a date night and were really looking forward to our night out. However, while the ambience and river view was amazing (gorgeous sunset view), that is where the positives stopped. We were savaged by midgies from the beginning and spent the rest of the night scratching, so highly recommend spraying yourself with bug spray before going. But this is not the restaurants fault, just something for future diners to be aware of. What was most disappointing was the $55 “Waygu” steak, which came out looking like a piece of rubber and was inedible. I highly doubt this was waygu and for $55 our expectations were much higher (also had to pay more for sides!). It didn’t even look appetizing and didn’t eat anymore than what this picture shows. Biggest waste of money! We would go back for the location, but avoid the steak at all costs.

Absolutely amazing experience! This restaurant is a true hidden gem in Bundaberg! The food was absolutely incredible — every dish was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. You can tell the chefs put genuine care and passion into what they create. The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. What really sets this place apart, though, is the stunning view over the Burnett River (often called the Bundaberg River). Watching the sun set across the water while enjoying such delicious food made for the perfect dining experience. Whether you’re after a relaxed lunch or a romantic dinner, this spot has it all — amazing food, great atmosphere, and breathtaking views. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or living in Bundaberg — it’s a must-try! 🌅🍽️

The waiters came and checked on us and made sure everything was to our liking, which was great. We were seated very quickly and was informed about the deals of the day which was very helpful. Although the food is expensive, it was cooked to perfection and was well worth the price, the experience was a 5 out of 5. If you want a spectacular and romantic dinner date I highly recommend H20.

Bit disappointing on the margarita cocktail quality. Recently went here for dinner and ordered margaritas. We asked specifically if they can do them with freshly squeezed lime juice which the girls at the bar said yes absolutely. When they arrived at our table unfortunately they were not done with fresh lime juice but with the green squeeze bottle lime juice from the supermarket. It's disappointing to order and pay for a high quality cocktail and receive a low grade alternative, which we assume is due a cost saving decision by the manager/owners? Other than this drink issue, the food and atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very nice

During the busy Christmas season, many people, including myself, visited Red Shed Seafood for their annual tradition of enjoying delicious seafood. The service provided was prompt and friendly, despite the high demand. They offered a wide variety of seafood products that were of exceptional quality. This establishment truly enhanced our joyful holiday experience. I highly recommend Red Shed Seafood to anyone seeking fresh and tasty seafood options.
We go to the Red Shed every Easter and Christmas plus whenever we feel like seafood. The prawns are always amazing and the staff are the absolute best. Thank you all so much.

OMG … just had the jumbo prawns and Pearl Perch from this place and I’m blown away!! Prawns were the biggest and juiciest I’ve ever tasted (and I’m a prawn head) and the fish was sensational. Thank you Red Shed ❤️❤️ Amazing seafood always!!

The Red Shed in Bundaberg has the friendliest staff. I’ve lived all around Australia and the seafood from this business has far surpassed any other retailer I’ve found in my travels. If you want something specific, you will get an honest response and season permitting you will get what you need in a more than acceptable time frame. Cheers guys. 🙏👍🏼

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Sugarland Plaza Bundaberg, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Ballistic Bargara. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Shopping
Sugarland Plaza in Bundaberg is a typical shopping center that offers a range of stores, including Woolworths and Big W. However, it has recently upgraded its outdoor eatery with better food options compared to the Foodcourt and kiosks inside. The spacious floor plan allows for easy navigation without feeling crowded. With its clean environment and ample parking space, Sugarland Plaza is an ideal destination for any occasion.
Surprisingly good. When I went with my alpha gang it was pretty empty and it was super clean!! There’s a wide range of shops and lots of places to drink/eat. Amazing!! Would defo recommend if you’re in the area!!

Well, this is another large shopping centre in the Bundaberg area, Sugarland Plaza, with several large stores for the area. There are food, products, and everything in between to buy from these shops and its surrounds. There are plenty of undercover parking areas to keep your vehicle cool and safe while checking out the shopping centre. Please feel free to visit this location to check out your shopping needs. If you liked my review, please let me know how and is there something I missed. Click on the blue hand to let me know how I did. See ya on the next one.

Visited sugarland a few rimes and I have found it to have everything I needed. Nice lair-conditioning and on the day I visited just before the end of last November it was very humid. As far as shopping centers go it is well laid out and access is easy. The drive there however on one occasion was a traffic jam in town at lunchtime. And they must have had a sale on at a tobacconist nearby as there was a huge line up outside. I or it was pah day and everyone was buying cigaretts or vapes. Traffic was slowing down just to take a look and the parkjnvbin the center of the street made it worse. I suggest not driving through the city at midday. Would recommend sugar land for anyone traveling through or staying in Bundaberg

OK shopping centre needs more shops and eateries in there though has some big name stores in there including woolworths and big w so that is good and across road is coles and close to carport is aldi
Shelby F — Google review
A nice shopping centre. I went in to get some soft drinks from Woolies, and then a second time to use the facilities, which were clean and neat as a button. Swish modern looking mall. Has all the essentials that you need, and a great big carpark outside. Sugarland? An appropriate name for this Bundaberg wonder-hit. Just out of interest, when it’s a ‘-berg’ name, it means it has a mountain, while with a ‘-burg’ name, it means it is a town. That is why I bothered to learn German!

Nestled within a public park in Bundaberg West, Queensland, Australia, Alexandra Park Zoo is a charming and compact menagerie that has been captivating visitors since 1911. Despite its size, the zoo boasts an array of animal species including dingos, emus, snakes, birds, monkeys, and lizards. It offers an educational and entertaining experience for all ages.
What a wonderful surprise! This small zoo completely exceeded my expectations. While it may not be as large as city zoos, it more than makes up for it with charm, care, and a personal touch that bigger zoos often lack. The enclosures are clean, thoughtfully designed, and give visitors a great view of the animals without ever feeling invasive. I loved seeing unique species like the black cockatoos and emus — it’s clear the animals are well cared for and the staff are passionate about their wellbeing. One of the best parts? It’s completely free to enter! Perfect for families or anyone looking for a budget-friendly activity that’s both fun and educational. The surrounding park is beautiful too, with a shaded playground, picnic spots, and views of the river — great for making a full day out of your visit. Friendly staff, happy animals, and a relaxed atmosphere make this little zoo a must-visit if you’re in the area. A true local treasure!

The Alexandra Park Zoo are a fantastic choice for a family day out. The gardens themselves offer a peaceful and safe environment for children to explore diverse plant life, spot colorful birds, and enjoy the open spaces perfect for running around. But that's not all! There's also a dedicated playground within the gardens, providing additional fun and entertainment for the kids. This makes it a truly comprehensive and enjoyable experience for families with children of all ages 😊

A small but free zoo next to the children’s playground and adjacent park. Dingo walking is around 2PM, although this can change depending on weather, school visits, or their desire to go for a walk. There’s a few native Australia animals, and a good place to visit when nearby for 20 minutes or so!

Oodies Cafe, located at 103 Gavin Street, is a charming and friendly spot in Bundaberg that offers a delightful dining experience. The cafe has an eclectic style and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Their extensive breakfast menu is available until 2pm and features delicious options such as Breakfast Bruschetta and Oodies Homemade Beans. In addition to serving quality Toby's Estate coffee, Oodies Cafe also offers fantastic smoothies and gluten-free treats.
So happy to have found Oodies Cafe, just north of the river. Such a chilled vibe with a constant stream of locals coming in for their takeaway coffee. There's plenty of seating set amongst a mismatch of furniture, decore and a billion old teaspoons around the walls. But it works. Oh and the food was great. I had smashed avo but will be back to try more of the menu. The coffee is Tim Adams. Service was down to earth and friendly. I couldn't resist grabbing a chocolate and macadamia brownie to go. I got it heated and oh man it was the goods. Awesome spot away from town. Highly recommend a visit, even if you are just passing through town.

Sharing feedback regarding the comedy gala we attended last night. We had planned to enjoy dinner at the venue before the show and arrived early to secure a table—this turned out to be the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not meet expectations. Despite reviewing the menu online beforehand, we were surprised to find only three food options available, each priced at $15. The limited selection and basic nature of the offerings were disappointing. As for the comedy portion of the evening, the acoustics in the room made it difficult to hear clearly. The performers were often shouting into the microphone, which further hindered comprehension and enjoyment. Regrettably, the humour did not resonate with our group, and the overall atmosphere felt dull. For the first time, I found myself leaving an event midway. All six members of our table agreed it was best to depart early. It’s unfortunate, as the evening had the potential to be a memorable and enjoyable outing. I hope this feedback is helpful in improving future events.

A great little bar with their own micro brewery. Pretty basic setup, but looks rustic which gives it character. Their beers were very good. Hot food available. We had pizzas. AWESOME!! First time diners tonight as I'd heard the renovations had been done and the food was awesome, well we will certainly be returning it's lovely there! Just enough choices on the menu so it was easy to pick. We had the club parmi oh wow such fast service and a generous portion. Wow the steaks in the cabinet were huge. We had the best seat I think, as we could see all the different meals being cooked in their lovely open kitchen.

Four of us had lunch and every meal was delicious. The calamari was super tender and had a really nice crumb. The oysters were fresh and huge! The pork ribs were cooked beautifully and tasted yummo and the steak was the best flavoured, perfectly cooked steak eaten out in a very long time, according to one diner. The only dislike for me was the watery, tasteless lemon squash - not nice at all.

We come in once a month from Sydney and our first stop is always the Club Hotel and we love the options available to get a great steak! We noticed recently it’s under new management and have no issue with that and wish them all the best; but, we noticed the options of cuts of steak were limited and we hope they don’t compromise on the quality of the meat please! It definitely sets the Club apart from other local pubs. Portions remain generous. Would love to see the sweet potato chips option back too!!
Lisa M — Google review
OMG - seriously the Best steaks - cooked perfectly!! 😋 New owner - newly renovated and obviously still needs some decor work to be done to transform from a cafeteria style venue to cosy pub dining. Maybe some large pot plants between tables - something. Definitely need gaming attendant as waiting at a machine for 40 minutes for customer service when you've asked 4 times is really not good enough 🫤

We just ordered 2 salads $19 for a Thai salad and $27 for a Buddha bowl with chicken. Absolutely disgusting, Thai said was drenched in sweetchilli sauce, and Buddha bowl was sitting in an inch of liquid, rice was soo cluggy, avocado was off and chicken super dry. Disappointing for the price.

Only positive was the young lady who served me, very polite. Nasi Goreng was truly Nasi Boring. 2 bite size pieces of chicken, 2 bite sized pieces of lamb and 2 prawns for $24 and as bland as could be, lots of rice tho🤣. Honestly don’t know how this hole is still in business. And the audacity of the female owner to tell me I “ate all the meat, and bought it back”, and then refund me $10🤣. Told Old love, “you need it more than me obviously”, then she took my meal. (Probably to re-use the container of rice they just sold me for $24)…. Don’t waste you time here, go across the road to the Thai place.

I ordered 4 boxes of dinner special, rice and noodles is so little and which over tasted by sweet and sour pork, which is large portion but not crispy. Do not reccommend

Had Uncle Chans a couple of months ago and we thought we had found a nice Chinese meal. It was really nice, but tonight's meal was just, no flavour at all. Very disappointed.

Gardens
Bundaberg Botanic Gardens, established in 1988 on a 27-hectare land, is a picturesque subtropical botanical garden featuring a serene lake, charming chapel, and scenic boardwalks. The gardens are adorned with over 10,000 shrubs and trees, offering visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. Additionally, the site houses the renowned Bert Hinkler Hall of Aviation and Bert Hinkler's former residence known as Mon Repos.
A lovely little area to walk either solo, group, or with family/kids. A relatively easy walk. Also boasts a train you can catch around the parkland and I believe it is ticketed. The aviation museum is also within the same grounds, and there is a great playground area and seating available near the entrance of the gardens.

The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens are a fantastic choice for a family day out. The gardens themselves offer a peaceful and safe environment for children to explore diverse plant life, spot colorful birds, and enjoy the open spaces perfect for running around. But that's not all! There's also a dedicated playground within the gardens, providing additional fun and entertainment for the kids. This makes it a truly comprehensive and enjoyable experience for families with children of all ages.🙂🙂

What a lovely little piece of paradise located away from the hustle and bustle. Probably the only downside are the bin chickens and the bird crap that goes with it. But it is a very nice garden, well maintained. It has a cafe I believe but we never ventured there. And a little steam train that shows you around the gardens.

Looking for something to do when visiting Bundaberg, this is definitely the place to come to. It is free to enter and there is plenty of parking. There are three museums on site, Hinkler Hall of Aviation which also includes Hinkler House, Fairymead House Sugar History Museum and the Bundaberg & District Historical Museum. The best deal is to buy a museum pass so you get to see all three at a reduced price. There is a great cafe on site for when you are hungry called Cafe 1928. A miniature sugar train that takes you around the park. There is also the Chinese Gardens and the Japanese Gardens which are both beautiful. The park is full of wildlife and birds so do take in the beauty. There is so much to do, you can easily spend the whole day here and is very easy to walk around.

Loved the gardens. On a Sunday, Took train trip around the grounds.. $7 per adult. $3 per child. little man loved it. Great volunteers, very friendly and helpful. So many animals to see and feed the ducks. Loved the eels, water dragons, ducks, pelicans, turtles. Well layed out grounds. Plenty of parking, nice big playground in a fenced area. Clean toilets. Easy caravan parking on young street. Nice busy Cafe, quick service, reasonable prices and nice variety on the menu. So many grassed areas with shade for a picnic Love to visit again when next through Bundaberg

GARDENS: Themed gardens around every corner. Themes such as; Rare fruit trees, Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, Prehistoric Garden, just to name a few. A photographer's dream. Just a really beautiful place.

This is a lovely place mainly native trees the Japanese and Chinese gardens many items donated to the gardens. The sugar cane train ride is very little cost and children love it. Goes around the gardens.

These gardens are a credit to the city, they include quite a lot of the city’s history with the Hinkler Aviation Museum, a history museum, Fairymead House sugar industry museum, various styles of garden and the Sugar cane railway set in a beautiful place

The Hinkler Hall of Aviation is an educational center that showcases exhibits on local aviation pioneer Bert Hinkler in a modern setting. While the hall may be small compared to other aviation museums, it offers a valuable opportunity to learn about Bert Hinkler's significant contributions to aviation history. Visitors can immerse themselves in interactive activities and view various aircraft displays, with some even accessible for entry.
Very cool place to explore, super interesting even if you’re not that in to aviation. Lots of interactive exhibits and heaps of local knowledge too. These junior aviators club is a super fun thing for kids. The gift shop has a cute range of products at reasonable prices. The 3 activity pass is really good value.

A great experience which gives insight into one of Australia's international heroes. It looks small, but you can easily spend several hours there. I also recommend viewing Mon Repos house, for a personal look into Bert Hinkler's life.
Jared C — Google review
Well laid out and well thought out staff were excellent and came and fetched us about a min before the film started giving us time to settle. Each item on display had at least a short note. What particularly struck me was the piece of the glider that went on the Shuttle “Challenger”. And was returned to go on exhibition. Pioneers of flight.
Dennis H — Google review
Situated in the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens, this is a really interesting museum about Bert Hinkler. Bert was an aviation icon who died far too young. Start within the globe as there is a short video about Bert and his life, there are a number of interactive displays so channel your inner child and try them. Entrance also includes Bert’s UK house which they shipped to Australia so do check that out as well as it is a time capsule. I would also buy the three Museum pass and check out the other two places in the gardens as it makes it really cost-effective. Definitely worth doing if visiting Bundaberg.
Casandra T — Google review
Spent a good hour or more here and at Hinkler House learning the story of Bert Hinkler. Truly fascinating and enjoyable.

Awesome adventure! This goes beyond a museum and showcases the exciting, high adrenaline life of Bert Hinkler in such a fun, hands on & interactive way. We loved every bit of it. Highly recommend a visit. The entire area is wonderful. It is a shame all of it isn't open on Saturdays as we still haven't be able to see The Bundaberg History Museum. The botanical gardens are sensational & it's a lovely drive through, or walk through or train ride around the park. Gorgeous part of history and a great spot to visit while in Bundy.

Performing arts theater
Movie theater
Moncrieff Entertainment Centre is a modern arts hub that hosts a variety of events including film screenings, live theatre, comedy shows, and fundraisers. Visitors have enjoyed performances like Echoes of Pink Floyd and Creedence Clearwater concerts. The venue offers great gigs throughout the year with an excellent layout and seating. However, some guests have noted the limited space between seats and the lack of waiting areas or bins in the reception.
Beautiful performing arts centre, located in central Bundaberg, lovely bakery next door while you wait. Parkland across the road for serenity and relaxing. My partner and I attended for our child's choir performance. All the schools were amazing. Lovely theatre. I can't wait to return for another performance
Matthew H — Google review
Nice sized entertainment centre. Visited here to see Bjorn Again, ABBA tribute band. Seats could be a little bigger and more comfortable. Microwave popcorn was disappointing, this place should make their own really.
Lewis W — Google review
Old style seats are a little narrow. Seats at the side point straight ahead meaning twisting the head or sitting awkwardly. Bought 2 food packs, Gourmet and Taste of Bundaberg. Gourmet was excellent with cheeses, dips, fruit and beautifully presented in a box with wooden utensils. Taste of Bundaberg was a waste of money; a soft drink or water, a small bag of year old macadamias, a small piece of local fudge and a small bag of non-local caramel popcorn. Disappointing for the price. Lesson learned for next time. Loved the 10 Tenors show.
Mozzie_four — Google review
The Eagles Greatest Hits concert - UNBEARABLE audio levels to put it mildly! My fourth music concert attendance at the Moncrieff, this will definitely be my last. On this occasion I fortunately came prepared with appropriate ear protection otherwise I would have left after the first song, instead I made that decision at interval. With 20+ years experience in live theatre and a further 15 years in cinema, one could say that I do have some knowledge about the entertainment industry. On a previous occasion I had lodged a complaint at the box office but this obviously fell on deaf ears if you'll pardon the pun. If those in control at the sound desk were in-house "technicians", then they would do well to further their education in their field, or risk further alienation of those theatre goers who value their hearing, as I do. Council and management should also take note.

Alexandra Park Motor Inn

Motel
Located in Bundaberg West, Alexandra Park Motor Inn offers comfortable and casual accommodation with a range of amenities. The motel features a seasonal outdoor pool, BBQ area, and garden with views of the nearby parks. It is conveniently situated near Alexandra Park and Buss Park, providing easy access to riverside walks and green spaces. Guests can enjoy modern rooms with clean facilities and good water pressure.
I had a 3 night stay at the Alexandra Park Motor Inn, and I appreciated its central location within Bundaberg. My room was on the ground floor and I was very comfortable for my stay. The room was serviced each day, which does not occur in a majority of sites. What I appreciated most was a 2 door fridge / freezer. It was also a decent size and I was not expecting this.
Phill D — Google review
A surprisingly good motel. Comfy bed and good shower. It is positioned near a dead end so there is no traffic noise. Parking is ok although some of the covered spots are pretty low. It's not in a fabulous part of Bundaberg (although there aren't many spots that are ideal).

Stayed here recently first trip to Bundy. We got room 9. Definitely a Queenslander house vibe, the place is old but that’s the charm. We felt safe and stayed an extra night. Has everything you need, beds are clean and comfy. Pool was great, close to everything. We will stay again.
Kallan M — Google review
Good location, friendly staff. We had the room at the end on the 2nd floor which was an ideal room for fewest neighbours. Also, it’s away from the main road so it’s quieter than many other motels/motor inns. That was really good, to be off the main road.
Thomas K — Google review
Staff were amazing with communication & organising late check-in post a medical emergency. Location was great for us plus an easy walk to food venues. Plenty of street parking to have our large Chev. Not much air circulation in second room where the kids were, ceiling had some wear in second room & shower leaked causing flooding around the toilet but otherwise a great place & would stay again.

Fantastic venue Friday nights come alive on the Burnett River with the transformation of Bundaberg’s old Marine College facility into an enticing array of international street food and a selection of quality retail stalls to wander through. We really enjoy the selection of craft beers, ciders and wines from the local and Australian breweries. It has such a great atmosphere with fantastic live music whiles drinking nice cold brews on the deck and eating a selection of tasty foods.. Kids had a ball too... Chilling out in the kids area playing games when not mesmerized by the great live tunes.. Car Parking was not a problem, as there was a huge grassed area at the back of the venue if the main front car park was full.. We are from Brisbane and came to Bundaberg for a Family holiday over the Christmas break. I spoke to some local people in Bundy and they mentioned something about this place a couple days prior... And I'm so glad they did as this was one of the best nights we had in Bundy.. I wish I could have something like this in my home town in Brisbane.. I would like to thank all the staff and even the security on the door which were so helpful, even telling us about some great beaches to visit whole up there.. Thanks Guys🍻

The Hummock Lookout offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the ocean, city and sugar fields from the remnants of an ancient volcano. This popular tourist attraction in Bargara, Bungaberg boasts vast cane fields as well as sweet potatoes and peanuts. The area is known for its rich red soil and flat terrain which add to its stunning natural beauty. A must-visit destination for those looking to explore the top of The Hummock and witness the marvels it has to offer.
Fabulous view. Great information board which also has informative audio clips about the geology and formation of the local surroundings. Parking and shaded picnic area with great views.
Lynette R — Google review
The views are panoramic and fairly reasonable. Good for a quick stop if nearby, but probably not worth an extended drive to visit. Quite windy with a few picnic benches at the top.
Kerbray — Google review
Bundaberg is very very flat with one little hill on it that has an outlook with a small gazebo that has an electric speaking overview on the history of the area. There is also a monument in honour of Bert Hinkler, but it is missing the bronze plane that is meant to be on top of it. If in the area I would pop up, it doesn’t take long and you can see the whole area.
Casandra T — Google review
Hummock Lookout offers a beautiful view of Bundaberg city on one side and Bargara on the other. It’s a must-visit spot to take in the stunning scenery of the farmlands and coastline. The area is quiet with little traffic, making it an easy and relaxing place to enjoy the cool breeze from the top of the hill.

A treasure in Bundaberg, a sight to behold. Don’t miss your chance to view Bundaberg Nanette surrounding regions from the top on The Hummock. You can see as far as the ocean all the way across the cane fields and to the mountains and beyond. An iconic spot where we made many boozy memories as teenagers. Long live the hummock

Bert's Restaurant & Bar is a stylish and elegant addition to Bundaberg's dining scene, featuring an Art-Deco theme that exudes a timeless charm. The establishment boasts vintage-style furnishings and offers a delightful ambiance for patrons. While some guests have experienced minor hiccups with reservations, the overall consensus is highly positive. Visitors praise the restaurant for its exceptional service, delicious food, accommodating staff, and great atmosphere.
Bert’s is a unique experience second to none! From the food to the cocktails the venue the atmosphere the ambience the decoré! They have it all!! Very few restaurants these days can boast in comparison with these guys. When we order we get little bits of everything even tho we don’t quite know what we’re ordering the one thing we know is that every single dish is going to be exceptional and they blow our minds/tastebuds every time!! Just go there and order what you may or may not recognise because I guarantee you’re going to be very pleasantly surprised…you should not be disappointed if you understand and appreciate fine cuisine!! Thank you Bert’s for yet another tantalising evening 🥰
Charlotte S — Google review
Overall, this place is lovely. The ambiance is beautiful, clean, and perfectly lit for an intimate dinner. The cocktail menu is impressive, with plenty of options to suit different tastes, and the service was attentive and friendly. That said, I was disappointed with the food, especially given the restaurant’s pricing and reputation. For the prices displayed it wasn’t really reflected in the meal, I can see effort and creativity with the flavours, but $50 for 2 slices of carrot lamb and jus was a bit of a shock. The portion sizes were small, even by fine dining standards, and the value for money felt off—especially here in Bundaberg. The arancini balls were basic at best; I’ve definitely had better elsewhere. The bolognaise sauce was bland and lacked that “wow” The duck was a letdown—it just didn’t taste quite right, although the cauliflower purée it came with was delicious. On a more positive note, the lamb was a standout. The flavour was beautiful, with a strong rosemary note that I really enjoyed. Still, the portion was far too small for the price. I spent $100 on two mains and left feeling unsatisfied. For a night out with drinks and a nice atmosphere, this place ticks a lot of boxes. But I wouldn’t return for the food
Jasmyn F — Google review
Bert’s is easily one of the best spots in Bundaberg for cocktails and conversation as I had found on Friday night. The drinks are always on point and creative, beautifully made, and perfectly balanced. You can tell the bartenders take real pride in their craft. It’s got that perfect mix of style and comfort ideal for catching up with friends, winding down after work, or even a bit of professional networking over a few great drinks. The atmosphere makes it easy to connect and have a good time. If you’re after quality cocktails, friendly service, and a great social vibe, Bert’s is definitely the place to be in Bundy.

Amazing cocktails!Amazing atmosphere! Amazing food!Recommend ordering a banquet meal for a truly gorgeous romantic evening that you will not forget. The herb butter left us dreaming, the arancini was large and a hit, the gnochi was perfectly prepared with rich delicious sauce, and the lamb chops left you wanting just one more bite. A little bit of warm stick date to finish it off- our compliments to the chef! Best in Bundy!

Our first time dining at Bert’s for birthday dinner. Previously read reviews and we don’t agree with any of the negative ones. Our entire experience was perfect. Love the lighting and atmosphere. Our waiter Peter was very helpful and pleasant, he even took our photo on request. Tried the new Red Rooster fried chicken Very nice. I went back for lunch next day and ordered their Red Box combi meal which came with fried chicken burger, 1 piece of fried chicken, chips, potato and gravy and a can of drink. All great quality. It had been years since I ate Red Rooster. I will be back. I do like their new fried chicken. I was staying at Best Western Motor Inn which is just 2 minutes walk away

Food was great. Young girl at counter seemed a little frustrated with the older filipino lady out back. I watched her roll her eyes multiple times. Seems to be a fair bit of miscommunication or language barrier. Girl at front doesn’t seem to know the menu after being asked simple questions like “is the burger spicy” etc..

Under New Ownership/ Management. Absolutely Disgusting food and Service. Customers were backed up inside and drive thru as well. The normally fresh hot chips are now gross, The chicken Roll was a mess. And the staff, Well they definitely weren't in work mode, plus they looked very disorganised.

Walked in to have a look at the menu and the girl behind the counter kept asking me what I wanted, no time to have a good look at the menu. Chicken was very dry, chips were soggy. Many patrons rave about the deliciousness of their subs, particularly highlighting options like the steak melt on wheat bread, which boasts perfectly balanced toppings. While some locations may face challenges with cleanliness during peak hours, overall experiences tend to be positive.
Young girl working there today was outstanding as she did all the work! Managed to feed everyone in timely matter whilst others dithered. Great lunch healthy choice and one excellent staff through lunch today.

I asked if the store's under new management as I could tell. It was filthy everywhere you looked. The salads were old and nearing empty and for early morning. I wanted gherkins so the two small bits left in the water was all I got. My second order required olives in which the same thing occurred. Too lazy to fill even when I was the only customer at that time and two workers. I'll go back to the Sugarland one even though I stopped going there because they were very stingy
Justin H — Google review
Young boy served me today (only one out the front). He very clearly wasn’t happy he had to actually do his job, mumbling and half heartedly making my sub. His lack of any customer service was evident, and i was just appalled about how he had treated a dasher there waiting and the customers sub, evident that if you are not there watching it be made they don’t care and will put on the tiniest amount of ingredients and half the sauce on the paper.
Addison L — Google review
Always busy at this place. I love it. Great sandwiches. The only thing I could suggest is mixing the protein in a bigger stainless steel bowl and tipping it into the takeaway bowl. I do understand it gets busy. It would just give a better flavour.

Fish and chips takeaway
Breakfast restaurant
I had a delightful experience at Earth and Sea Cafe, a takeaway spot known for their amazing fish and chips. The steak sandwiches I ordered were top-notch and easily the best in Bundaberg. The food was incredibly fresh, while the service provided by the friendly staff was exceptional. Their outdoor courtyard was immaculately clean, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy lunch. This little gem truly impressed me with its delicious food and generous portion sizes.
Great food. Ordered an Eldorado burger and chips. Costs $16.50 and was 1 of the best burgers I've had in a long time. highly recommended.
