Xcaret Park is a waterfront eco-archaeological park in the Mexican Caribbean, offering over 50 attractions suitable for all ages. It's an ideal place to immerse yourself in the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage with your family. The park features underground rivers, jungle exploration, and access to the Caribbean Sea. Visitors can also explore ancient Mayan ruins and experience Mexican cuisine and folklore.
This place is amazing with breathtaking views and plenty of activities to enjoy. The only downside is that everything is extremely overpriced, easily many times higher than outside, so it is best to come well prepared and bring what you need. Aside from that, the views are incredible, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely a must do experience when visiting Cancun.
David T — Google review
This is a very well run and nice park. The underground river float was nice, the beaches were decent. The nighttime show was great. The downside is that the entire park is setup to squeeze money out of you. Only a few things are actually included in an already expensive ticket. The included buffet was average. It is clean and nice. It's worth doing once but we wouldn't come back again. The night show was definitely the highlight.
John H — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to Xcaret Park! I went with my partner (2 adults no children). We had a blast. The underground rivers were beautiful and definitely the best part, and all the activities were a lot of fun. As someone first being introduced to Mexican culture, I found the park to be a great and engaging introduction, the night show especially was very cool and entertaining. Our package (the plus package) included the dinner buffet, which had a great variety of options and everything tasted delicious. I’d definitely recommend getting the buffet package to make the day smoother and avoid worrying about food. It was also nice that the package came with a locker, and there were plenty of bathrooms around the park (which were always clean). We also did the Adrenalina boating activity for 30 min and it was amazing! Our drivers, Pablo and Diego, were super fun, entertaining, and made the whole experience memorable. It was a bit pricey and felt like it could’ve lasted a little longer, but overall, it was one of the highlights of the day. There were many activities to enjoy such as the aviary, butterfly conservatory, chapel, cemetery, Mayan Pueblo, waterpark etc. The only downside is the price point — it’s definitely on the higher side, and for that cost, it would be nice if at least one additional activity besides the river were included. The souvenir shops were also quite expensive (though that’s somewhat expected). Overall, I’m really glad I went! There’s so much to see that one day doesn’t feel like enough, and it was never a dull moment. I’d recommend Xcaret to anyone willing to spend a bit extra for a full, unique experience in Mexico. 🌴✨

This place is absolutely amazing, yes it's a little expensive but in my opinion when you compare it to English theme parks or experiences its absolutely worth it. The place is big but not so big that you cant get round it all. It has a river that you swim (you are provided with life vests and flippers) and for me this was the highlight of the trip. Aquarium where you can see sharks, turtles, fish. An aviary which was amazing with some great picture opportunities. There's a cultural section of the park where you can learn more about Mexican culture and history. A place to snorkel which is included in the price. There's a beach and plenty of places to down tools and eat drink and relax. We were in Mexico in low season so the park was quite in comparison to higher season which was great as we got round everything and absolutely no queues. Top Tip hang around for the evening show it is long but definitely worth it and gives you a real flavour of mexico. Highly reccomend this park. I've also been to Xplor and loved that but this park topped even that.

Thank you for creating such a beautiful atmosphere. I was deeply impressed by the beauty of Xcaret’s nature; everything feels alive and full of spirit. The live music, your dedicated team, and the energy of the place make it truly special. It seems that everyone who works here truly loves what they do, and that passion can be felt in every detail. As visitors, you offer us not only wonderful experiences but also inspiration. You remind us to appreciate nature, to care for the environment, and to value culture and traditions. Xcaret is much more than a park — it is a celebration of life and harmony. I wish that soon our entire planet could be like this corner of the world — full of respect, beauty, and balance. Even if not everyone can see it or be here, thank you for inspiring people to become better human beings and to care more for our shared home, the Earth.

We visited for Dia de los Muertos and it was a lovely afternoon with authentic food, fun workshops and beautiful decorations. The ceremony was breathtaking, we visited it twice. The spectacular show is a must. Only thing we would suggest to the organisers is to have a map available for guests…we spent 40 mins looking for the chocolate workshop and asked five members of staff that all directed us to different places. When we found it it was too late as our transfer was picking us up.

Xcaret Park is an absolutely gorgeous destination that offers a rich and immersive Mexican experience. While its beauty and activities are top tier, visitors should be prepared for the cost of dining. The Positives (What Makes Xcaret Shine): Perfectly Designed Layout: Don't be intimidated by the map! The park is brilliantly designed so that the distances between activities feel manageable. You can easily walk from one point of interest to the next without feeling exhausted. · The Iconic Rivers: A definite highlight! Floating down the calm, underground, and open-air rivers is a must do. The nice 22-degree water is incredibly refreshing and the perfect way to cool down from the hot Mexican sun. · World Class Aviary and Shows: The bird life is spectacular. The aviary is beautiful and a pleasure to walk through, but the "breath taking parrot display" was a particular standout truly perfect in its execution. · Cultural & Historical Immersion: The park does an amazing job of showcasing Mexico's rich history. The exhibition shows are not just performances; they are passionate displays of national pride. It was moving to see how each actor performed with such genuine pride in their heritage. The Negative (A Significant Consideration): High Food and Drink Costs: The main drawback is undoubtedly the price of food within the park. Even with a "Plus" ticket that includes a lunch, it wasn't sufficient to cover a full day of sustenance. This is a particular challenge for all day visitors, especially those from large holiday resorts who are unable to pack their own food and snacks to bring along. Verdict: Xcaret is a breathtaking park that masterfully combines natural wonders with powerful cultural exhibits. It's a must visit for its stunning rivers, wildlife, and unforgettable shows. However, to fully enjoy your day, be sure to budget significantly extra for food and drinks beyond any included meal plans. The experience is incredible, but the cost of convenience inside the park is high.

This park was so much fun! The crystal river water was actually warm and felt nice, and so was the sea water. All the fish were so beautiful and vibrant, and the shows were entertaining to watch. Really was a nice experience.

We had a great time. All the activities are great. The food was great we got there super early so the entering process was very quick. Recomended doing the most popular activities first or while everyone is at lunch. The only thing was we bought the picture package but we did not receive all our pictures. We got sent pictures of people we did not go with, so we are try to see if we can receive the pictures that we bought but we're not sent. Apart from that can't wait to go back but at night ☺️👍🏽

This was an amazing adventure! XPLOR FUEGO 🔥 So glad we got good weather, and it wasn’t packed. We booked with the resort which made things so much easier. We paid up front which was a reasonable price for two people. We got shuttles there and back. The travel time was not long. It was about 1 hour there, and 1 hour back. There is a locker included in the pricing as well. TIPS: Bring a backpack, water shoes, waterproof phone case, change of clothes, and towels. Bring money for souvenirs, snacks, and etc. We had 2 snacks, buffet, and drinks included. The tamales: chicken/pork both so delicious 🤤. The lemonade was some of the best I’ve tried, and the other beverages from others input were flavorful as well. Getting started the waters are a little chilly when doing the night adventures. The hand rafting was fun, and a little tiresome. You’re likely to bump into spots but make for some fun. Swimming through the tunneled areas was dark a times, but totally safe. Reminder: there are bats around so make sure to duck. There are about 8-9 zip lines that go back to back each level getting higher. You can do zip lines with a partner or solo. Also very safe, and I commend the staff makes sure everyone is safe and having a good time. They all explained everything in great detail, and offer English or Spanish instructions. They made sure we were safely secured for each activity. They were able to accommodate everyone’s needs. The ATV/ cart ride was so much fun. They have 4 to a car, and 1 person is DD. The terrain is very bumps, and a little dirty. Everything here was so much fun, and I would highly recommend this activity the next time you’re in the area. You won’t regret it! ** There is lots of walking, and can get slippery. So make sure your water shoes are durable, and you walk with caution. Lastly the night time one I enjoyed. It was comfortable waiting in line without the sun blaring on you since the lines don’t have much shade to wait in. The cooler weather was great. It was pretty dark throughout the park so be vigilant.
Priscilla C — Google review
My friends and I booked in advance to take advantage of the discount. We were lucky that it was rainy, so we didn't get sunburn or need sunscreen, but we didn't get to do all the activities as they were full (amphibious vehicles and river rafting). Some lines were longer than others, but we still had a good time. The food at the restaurant was terrific, and you could eat as much as you wanted. The staff at the park were friendly & amazing. The only suggestion I have is that the helmet needs to be cleaned as they smelled sweaty, some more than others. If you're going, wear a bonnet or a swim cap. Prices are expensive, so consider purchasing a waterproof phone pouch before your visit. It may not be necessary, as you should not have anything on you for most activities (park rules). However, I would advise that you take the photo package; it's worth it.
Odelinda B — Google review
Great family experience! Bring good water shoes, I saw many people walking around missing one or both shoes, from the water rides. Our family of 5 had a blast, the youngest was 9, so there was some tandem zip lines so he wouldn't get stuck. The water slide was 1.5-hours most of the day, so we skipped that. Arrive early, play hard, have an early lunch, play hard, then enjoy one last meal before you leave.
JP R — Google review
We had a wonderful time! Yes it was very hot but food and drinks were included all day so you could rehydrate or recharge at any time. Be advised that there is a lot of long distance walking to get to different areas of the park. Water shoes and a helmet must be worn at all times. A waterproof phone pouch is nice to have but it can’t be taken on certain attractions so you can store it in the locker with other valuables if you choose to.

Best trip eva!!! This is like universal studios Mexican style! Part of the Xcaret adventure parks! Must do.. buy ahead of time at least 15 days to avail discount. Buy photo package alongside transportation service! It will save u at least 20 to 50 dollars if book ahead of time. Do the Toboganxotw first, then under ground. U can do the water raft last.it will test your patience!!! And your marriage. Lol. The amphibian vehicles and ziplines ar3 exhilarating!!! Must do in Cancun. They willl not let u take go pro on tobagonxote for safety issues. Group of 4 with weight limit ;) so u may wait til your group has the right weight limit. Have fun and keep.running and riding!!!!!! Try Xplor Fuego too. But pay extra

Xplor Park in Playa del Carmen was an absolute blast! From start to finish, it’s non-stop adventure. Zipping through zip lines, exploring underground rivers, and driving amphibious vehicles—it keeps your adrenaline pumping the whole time. Nestled in the heart of Playa del Carmen, Casa Rivieras is a delightful mid-range restaurant that beautifully marries Mexican and Mediterranean flavors. This culinary gem offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for lunch, where guests can indulge in gourmet homemade dishes that reflect the rich cultures of both the Mexican and European Rivieras. After a long day under the sun, visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality and even complimentary bites like tuna croquettes while they await their meals.
I love this place! Great design, delicious food! Congrats, Chef, you understand what it’s all about: you go for noble and quality ingredients and respect them during preparation. Keep it up!

It was a win. Just for a quick breakfast and ended in a good culinary experience. Ordered the huevos motuleños and the sopes. Tasty, hot and spicy. Very pleased. Lots of safe parking space. Good service and in my opinion it was more than fair the price. 149.00 pesos a plate. Coffee extraordinaire.
Rikka D — Google review
Found this place purely because it was close to our lodging in Playacar. After spending such a hot and humid day, we deserved some lovely food and beautiful surroundings. Casa Rivieras did just the thing. We were welcomed by the staff, then treated to extra food (tuna croquettes and rolls) while waiting for the food. We drink some mezcal and the presentation was beautiful. Seafood risotto with calamari ink was delicious as expected. Cordon bleu was superb with very beautiful display of vegetables as well. For all that food and drinks the total bill was $34. Even in Mexico standard this was a good deal in a beautiful restaurant like this. Highly recommended!!

I've had both breakfast and lunch at Cass Rivieras and on both occasions the meals were great. The drinks are good and so is the coffee. Staff is very attentive and courteous.

Great menu selection from salads, French onion soup to deserts. Good vibe inside or on the patio. Good music selection. Great service. Polite and friendly. Just very enjoyable. Ride a bike from Playacar tor a bit of café vibe.

This is the best place we've been to in our trip to Cancun and the surrounding area. Different types of dishes and the customer service is great. Ericka was our server and she made great recommendations. Omar was at the bar and had cold tequila and hot coffee made fresh from the expresso machine. Our head server Rodrigo was attentive and helped us make some hotel recommendations. This place is the best in our Cancun trip. Also they have a expresso machine for all your coffee needs. My kids had stone style Pizza and they loved it. We had a good time. The service was great, the food was delicious and we left full and happy. Thank you Ericka, Omar, and Rodrigo. Highly recommend.

I ate at this restaurant twice just because it was close to the hotel I was staying at. The quality of the food is excellent for the price. I like that they clearly mark the vegan and vegetarian options on the menu.

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Portal Maya, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Río Secreto. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Portal Maya is a striking 50-foot high sculpture located at Parque Los Fundadores, depicting two figures being pushed by a spiral of wind and water. Created in 2012 to mark the end of the Mayan Calendar, it celebrates the Mayan communities in the Yucatan Peninsula. Designed by Arturo Tavarez, it represents the new Mayan era and inaugurates a new tourist and historical era for Playa del Carmen.
We did not venture over to Cozumel but we did visit the port. The beach was popping around there. Lots of restaurants. Good shopping with lots of cool people and there's lots of entertainment. Definitely recommend 5th Street!!
Dee J — Google review
Plan on at least 4 to 8 hours depending on what you want to do. Rent golf cart from red golf cart vendor only. $80 for the day and you can see most of the area. We drove to Krazy Lobster, get a small but free margaritas, beers are only 2-3 $. Food was OK, but fairly priced. You can shop for gifts or adult at the beach and swim in the ocean. Worth doing if you are there. Drive to the Chunky Monkey and get a cocktail too. Very friendly staff!
Chris S — Google review
Portal Maya is the main port for catching the ferry to Cozumel, and it’s always buzzing with energy. You’ll find a mix of tour operators, souvenir shops, and street food vendors. It’s a lively spot, perfect for people-watching and soaking in the local vibe. Just a heads-up — some vendors charge higher prices than others, so it’s always a good idea to negotiate before making a purchase. Overall, it’s a great starting point for your Cozumel trip or just exploring local culture in 🇲🇽

PDC is a great vacation option. You can hang out in the city's local beach or take day trips to nearby cities and attractions. Warning: The beaches can be unusable during the seaweed blooms. Check before you book . This city square is lively with shops and local folk groups.

Good to visit. Cool statue along the beach. Dancers were there. I wouldn’t recommend going in the middle of the day. Too hot. There are lots of pushy vendors in the area.

Great place after walking through the street market. Not sure about the specific timing but if you come in the evening you can see Mayan dance ceremony which was pretty cool

Xaman-Ha Aviary, located near the beach at Playacar Resort in Playa del Carmen, is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Spanning 1.8 hectares of jungle territory, this sanctuary is home to over 60 different species of local birds living in their natural habitat without cages. Visitors can stroll along nature trails around ponds and forest enclosures to observe tropical birds like macaws and flamingoes flying and swimming freely.
It’s a small aviary and a little bit expensive (300 pesos) but they had a flock and beautiful macaws, some Amazonian parrots and flamingoes. Also there were Amazon ducks and a bunch of Agouti running around,
Mango R — Google review
This small aviary does have a natural cenote with a variety of birds (see photos). It is $15 USD per person, which supports the aviary, but might seem excessive compared to other zoos or places you may have been. Go if you would like to have a short walk in the Yucatecan jungle and see some unique birds up close…or if you want to support their mission (which we did want to do). Beautiful stone walkways and steps are solidly-constructed but not accessible for those who have walking challenges. The older (but relatively fit) people in our group were able to walk throughout the aviary without assistance. There is a Mayan ruin nearby that could also be visited in the same morning or afternoon. We stayed in the aviary for about 45 minutes, but a large section is being renovated right now and was not open to the public.
Kimberley K — Google review
Good little adventure if you are nearby. On the smaller side for the price, however being a bird lover it was a fun experience. Some parts were a bit stinky. I saw macaws, flamingos, iguanas, pelican, coati, agouti. Sadly did not see toucans as others have said.
Signor C — Google review
Nice little stop-off in the shade for about 45 minutes. Yes it’s slightly too expensive but not as small as some other reviews suggested. Saw loads of interesting birds, and generally just a nice little place to explore
Caroline H — Google review
A very beautiful shady cool spot to see some gorgeous birds. Nothing frilly or fancy - worth it if you’re in to macaws they were everywhere.
Carrie C — Google review
Loved seeing so many colourful birds! It's fairly small but was happy to spend the 300 pesos to explore the mini jungle and see the local fauna. I saw another comment complaining about the look of the birds, but 99% of this aviary is open. The birds can come and go as they please (except for a turkey enclosure).
Amelia L — Google review
Now $16 (300 peso) pp Toilets have no water, paths are bad and in need of repair. The enclosure mid pathway has had its turnstile doors “fixed” The few animals that are in here are looking a little rough but are being fed and cared for…
Seannyyx “ — Google review
Beautiful aviary! Plan on spending an hour here. It is small but worth the $15 entry fee in my opinion. It is located inside of a condo complex, and is not well marked. We passed it up and had to go back, paying close attention to find the entrance. There are also some smaller Mayan Ruins nearby, worth a short walk to see!

Río Secreto offers an adventurous experience for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can embark on a journey through the underground river, marveling at the stunning stalactites and stalagmites while hiking and swimming in the turquoise waters. The excursion begins with a bike ride through the lush jungle, followed by a captivating hike through caverns adorned with bats and rock formations. With knowledgeable guides leading the way, visitors can rappel into the fresh water to explore this hidden subterranean world.
My husband and I had a lot of fun doing private tour here with Benito and Pato. Benito our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made our adventure feel safe and fun. Pato our photographer ensured that all the lightings were perfect to get that amazing shot ! Thank you both for the unforgettable experience, and if anyone wants to try I highly recommend it. Oh and the bathroom is very clean (I was expecting a porta potty situation but no it even smell nice and clean too. Big big plus)

Secreto Rio was such a very cool experience. The underground cave system (not a cenote!) is absolutely stunning, and the whole adventure feels peaceful, magical, and well organized. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. The underground river and cave areas were very unique. The only downside (and why I didn’t give a full 5 stars) is that no cameras are allowed, and the photo package they sell is quite expensive. It’s a bit disappointing since you want to capture those memories, but it still doesn’t take away from how incredible the place is overall. The meal at the end was delicious too. Definitely worth visiting!

I loved visiting the Rio Secreto. Our tour guide, Ana was very knowledgeable and very helpful. She took a member of my party through the caves that was afraid to swim, giving her and us the experience of a lifetime. The cave itself is a fantastic journey. You wade, walk and swim through beautiful limestone caverns. We bought the picture package to remember the experience and it was worth it. A professional photographer followed us through and took several amazing action shots. I would love to visit Rio Secreto again, and try one of the other packages.

A hidden gem. This experience is a life-changing event. The natural wonder that is this cave and underground river are demonstrated beautifully by the wonderful team of tour guides, staff, and photographers. Shout out to Pato our photographer for taking his time to curate perfect romantic pictures of me and my wife. He truly went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. The beauty of the cave leaves one speechless. I can not put together enough adjectives to describe how mesmerizing. 11/10 recommend.

This was an amazing journey through the underground river system. We waded, walked, and swam through the cool, very clear water. The cave is beautiful, and we've toured many caves in North America. We loved our guide, Alfredo! He made our day even better. He's friendly and super knowledgeable. We were the first group of the day through the cave, so everything was undisturbed. I opted for a wetsuit - not sure that I really needed it, but I didn't get hot wearing it. Lunch was great!! Alfredo told us that the pork was fantastic, and he was right! The lime dessert was pretty YUM too! We also did the ziplines and rappel, both of which we've done numerous times - so no big thrill, but we had fun yelling our favorite foods. So glad Alfredo joined right in with our crazy group. Everyone we met in the park (lunch/store/check-in/drivers.....) was friendly and welcoming. I did 4 stars instead of 5 just because the photos are so expensive and you cannot bring your own camera. I understand why, but please make the photos more affordable so that everyone can save these memories forever. I had called to ask a few questions before booking and was told that the photos would be between $20 - $100, but after reading some reviews, I expected $120 - $130 for groups. Ours were $150. None were great, but they were good and we did get a lot.

Rio Secreto was hands down the highlight of my trip to Mexico! It’s honestly one of the most beautiful and surreal places I’ve ever seen. Walking and swimming through the crystal clear caves felt otherworldly. Our guide Gustavo was amazing, funny, patient, and made the experience feel really special. The photographs turned out fantastic I will just share a couple here. If you do one excursion while you’re in Mexico, make it this one. You won’t regret it.

This is a must-do adventure. We had the opportunity to do this as an excursion on MSC, and it was absolutely worth the money. The tour guides were hilarious, Sophia told us that the 30 minute drive on the unpaved road was our "Mayan Massage." When we got to the changing area, they gave us free lockers to hold all of our belongings. They gave us 2mm shorty wetsuits to wear, durable water shoes, and a helmet with a light. Everything seemed clean and sanitized. (You WANT to wear the wetsuit. The water in only 70 degrees, so even with the wetsuit, I was shivering by 1.25 hours.) Take the stick they provide. They say it's for people with mobility issues, but even I could have used it. The walk to the cave was beautiful. We got to participate in a Mayan ritual to bless our entrance to the cave. Very moving and enjoyable. Hugo was our tour guide. He was very friendly, very educated about the formations and caving, and strong enough to help us up, over, or onto difficult parts of the path. My favorite part was swimming in the crystal clear water with all the beautiful formations above us. My next favorite was when we were in a super deep area and Hugo had us all turn out our headlamps. It was pitch black!! Then, he said, "who wants to play the best game of marco-polo ever?!" We all cracked up!! The pictures are expensive, but worth it. I never could have taken those pictures myself. Hugo used his fancy flashlight to light the water and the photographer had a special flash. I'm very grateful the photographer was there. My legs were very sore the next day. (crouching down to walk through tiny tunnels and taking huge steps up and across formations.) And I had an impressive bruise from slipping in one spot. This is NOT for people with mobility issues.

The caves were so beautiful and our guide Felipe clearly loved his job and even answered my son’s million questions with pleasure. The food at the end was so-so. But the overall experience is so worth it, it’s a wonder of nature!

La Parrilla is a mexican restaurant in Cancun with a magnificent atmosphere and great food. The octopus was especially tender and the meat was seasoned beautifully. The margaritas were ample and well made. I would definitely come back here at the drop of a sombrero.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had! The food was cooked perfectly, the staff were incredible, attentive and worked together so well. The food came quickly and we opted for Mayan coffee at the end which was a very fun show! We enjoyed the vibrancy on the streets below, and the mariachi band that came up and played in the restaurant during our meal. I had the mariachi tacos and each one was better than the last. I can’t wait to return here time and time again! Oh and do not overlook the lobster tacos- your life will never be the same.

We had soup and steak and cheese tacos. Soup was similar to a can of Campbells and tacos were pretty unappetizing. Friendly staff and maybe a more fun spot to drink at night, but I don’t recommend eating a meal here.

BEWARE of this restaurant! We had a late lunch here. The place is huge and occupies the second floor of the building. It is also located on the corner of 2 major streets and of Quinta Allegria mall. Hard not to miss! First off, the food was good. We had the Mayan fish dish and grilled fish, lime soup and calamari. Not perfect in presentation but tasted well and freshly cooked. We had fun with the new flavors in our taste buds! The servers were friendly and smiling. I could have given them 4 stars easily, but they padded 18% propino on top of our bill without asking. Without seeing the bill yet my spouse told the waiter to add 20% tip for him, until i grabbed his arm when i notice the details of the bill. That's highway robbery! Had we been drinking anybody could have miss it what they did and overcharge just like that. BEWARE of this establishment!

The burrito did not have any sauce or cheese. No cheese on the fajitas. Could not get tap water. The ladies would have liked a gold margarita, but didn't want to pay $27 for it. View of 5th Avenue from the second floor was nice.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. When the food finally arrived we tasted it and had to spit into the napkin. Asked for the bill and said this was not good and we couldn’t eat it. The food was expensive compared to other places and tasted like crap. We got 10% off. We have never leaved a restaurant before because of horrible food.

Good Mexican restaurant with decent food and decent service. You can enjoy market and street views while seating there. The food is relatively overpriced (priced for tourists) Note that they pre-charge you for an optional tip so be careful and ask them to change it if you do not agree with the extra charge.

Super nachos with chicken and beef were AMAZING & so filling 2 of us only ate 1/2. We also got the guacamole which is made fresh at the table and a wow margarita which was so fresh and delicious. Prices were very fair. Definitely recommend!!

We stayed at a resort about 20 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. Used a cab service and asked the driver to take us to a local restaurant that served good food. This is the place he took us to, smack on la Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) very popular touristic avenue full of shops and restaurants and street performers etc... La Parrilla is a very nice restaurant, very opened and aerated. Because it's opened, you still get a good view of traffic, also view the the 5th avenue and the everyday life and often get some street performers too. We chose the upstairs with top view on the street. Occasionally yes you have that one car or motorcycle with loud muffler etc but that part of the everyday noise so wasn't a negative in my view. The servers speak decent English and are very nice, friendly and professional. They'll occasionally drop a joke here and there but nothing offensive or outrageous. They took our order for drinks and then appetizers. I knew this place would be good as we ordered chips and guacamole and they literally make that guac in front of you, throwing in all the spices and condiments and avocado and mix it up for you. Best guacamole I've ever had bar none. And we lived in Texas for years and had our fix of TexMex. Not even close. The appetizers were delicious and then came the main dish we ordered and all of it was just so good we wanted more. Definitely recommend the place. Even had a mariachi guy with a guitar playing some very popular tunes like La Bamba, Cancion dEl Mariachi (from the movie Desperado sung by Antonio Banderas), Guantanamera etc... Now be mindful they already slap a "fee" on the receipt that's a tip (service fee) but we still left extra since you never know how these are distributed. All in all excellent place to grab either a quick bite or just eat good food and enjoy drinks. And they don't wimp out on alcohol in their drink. They load it. One margarita from there might take you over the edge so be mindful of that. Give this place a try.

Mariscos y Clamatos El Doctorcito is a casual and unpretentious seafood restaurant located on Avenida 25 Norte, just a few blocks from the beach. The lively atmosphere and fresh ingredients draw in locals who come to enjoy great company, drinks, and even catch a soccer match on the big screen. The menu features delicious ceviche, Aguachiles, and other mariscos accompanied by house sauces inspired by Sinaloa flavors.
We were advised to come here from the lady from CHOCO-story. And she was right in a great place to get fresh seafood dishes. We ordered tacos with octopus, fish, and shrimp plus a Campechana. Everything was so delicious, but the Tacos de Pulpo al Ajillo were outstanding, if you know what I mean. Hubby and I love seafood, and this place is a must visit if you are a seafood lover. Plus, the ambient is so cool.

Standouts - Shrimp Sarandeado with red sauce. Not spicy but the best flavors! Came with white rice and grilled veggies. 👍🏽👍🏽 Taco Gobernador - Wow! 😍 Fish & Shrimp ceviche - 👏🏽 Shrimp tostada - 👏🏽👏🏽 We were a large party (11) and there was no wait. We were seated upstairs. We wanted to come back once more before we left but it didnt happen. Next time!

Been here multiple times over the years and was excited to visit again on my return to PDC. The food is really good and the restaurant is always busy. The seafood cocktails are the star of the show for me, but plenty of other solid offerings if that’s not your thing. It has gotten a little pricey, but still a must visit for me.

Amazing vibe, the service was courteous and direct. As a solo traveller there wasn’t much interaction. The food was delicious, they give you sauces and chips to start off with. I ordered mezcalita which was ok. I have had better. Tasted more like juice. Would definitely return, this is a local for locals, really great vibes

It's always a good sign to us when we see a restaurant filled with locals and this one was. We came very specifically to have Sinaloan style grilled fish and that's what we ordered. The fish didn't disappoint, it was exactly what we had hoped for. Which was a perfectly spiced and grilled grouper. It was served with grilled vegetables and rice. Everything had a delicious wood fire flavor, that we really enjoyed. This restaurant is a few blocks west of 5th Ave, well worth the walk to avoid the inflated tourist prices and enjoy quality local seafood.

I recently dined at El Doctorcito in Playa del Carmen, and I can't stop raving about how fantastic the experience was! If you're a seafood lover like me, this place is an absolute must-visit. Tucked away on the corner of 12th Street and 25th Avenue, this open-air gem brings the vibrant flavors of Sinaloan-style seafood to the heart of Playa del Carmen, and it does so with incredible flair. The seafood here is unbelievably fresh, and every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. I started with their signature fish ceviche, which was a perfect balance of zesty lime, crisp cucumber, cilantro, and just the right touch of spice-no tomatoes, which I appreciated for an authentic experience.

Sushi Roll Playa del Carmen is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine in this vibrant coastal town. Nestled within the stylish Calle Corazon shopping center, this restaurant boasts both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a delightful atmosphere reminiscent of Tokyo. While it’s popular enough to warrant a short wait for a table, the experience is well worth it.

"I recently visited Sushi Roll and have to say that quality of the sushi was like sushi - hard to get scrapped. The rolls were solid. However, what really stood out to me was the ramen with salmon. It was exceptional and had a delicious broth that complemented the salmon perfectly. The only drawback I experienced was that the food did not come all at once for our table. Instead, it arrived in stages every 5-10 minutes, which made it difficult for us to know whether to start eating or wait for the rest of our party to arrive. Overall, I would recommend Sushi Roll for their delicious sushi and exceptional ramen, but just be aware that the food may not come all at once.

Alux Restaurant Bar and Lounge in Playa del Carmen, Mexico offers a unique dining experience set within a vast underground cave. The restaurant's name pays homage to the Maya legend of the alux, mischievous creatures believed to inhabit such spaces. Descending down a flight of stairs into this subterranean chamber feels like entering another world, with enchanting lighting, luxurious decor, and natural formations surrounding diners as they enjoy contemporary Mexican cuisine.
Alux is a must visit if you are in the Playa del Carmen area. From the atmosphere to the food to the drinks. Everything was perfect. Fabio was our server and he was excellent. He introduced himself and shared the history of not only Alux but the cenote itself. He explained the menu in detail and made it excellent recommendations. We had the tacos Del Alux and the sustainable catch of the day (which was red snapper, delicious) We had multiple drinks, all were delicious as well. The food and service was the best I’ve had and combine that with the atmosphere of being in a cave system…its was amazing.
Katie G — Google review
We had a very nice evening at Alux, in a stunning setting. What’s a pity is that they talk about preserving and protecting the cenote, yet they use cement in a completely wrong color to try and mask the cables. For starters, we had grilled oysters and homemade bread. The bread was tasty, but the oysters were covered in a BBQ sauce that completely overpowered the natural oyster flavor. For mains, we tried the risotto with shrimp, which was good, and the Sterling Silver beef filet, which was tender but lacked flavor in the meat itself. Dessert was the duo chocolaté, unfortunately not very good. Our waiter Favio was excellent throughout the evening. He commercially suggested preparing a tasting of “Mexican water” for us, which turned out to cost around 700 pesos on the bill. We had no problem at all with the bill itself, only with the way it was presented at the end. When the bill came, an arrogant woman insisted on explaining it. She came across as very offensive, without any reason. All in all, it was a lovely and tasty evening with an unpleasant ending. Still, thank you — but please let Favio handle the checkout.

The setting is quite nice but even though they had air conditioning and fans it was still really hot and humid inside. It was also very smokey. We got there at 7 and the service was excellent. But as the night went on and it got more busy it was REALLY SLOW. We noticed there were only two waiters in our section covering 9 tables! And there were 2 large parties. I also felt like the rushed out appetizer, like I was still eating my appetizer when our main entree came out. Anyways, I got the steak and it was great. It was extremely tender and flavorful. My partner got the catch of the day risotto and it was also very good. I don’t think you can go wrong with the food here, especially with the prices you can expect it to be good. For an appetizer we go the homemade bread that came with two butters, crickets, and salt. I honestly don’t think it was worth it. Nothing special.

What an amazing experience! We think that our waiter may have been new or didn't understand English very well. We wanted to have a relaxing drink then order our oysters to share but they arrived almost immediately and two orders came instead of one. We declined the second one. Alux (Aloosh) is pricey but so worth it. The food was incredible and the restaurant stunning! We even saw a bat fly by.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is totally unique! Descending into a system of caves felt quite magical, although one of my friends has some mobility challenges and I really wished there was at least a handrail on the dozens of stairs. You’re allowed to wander around the restaurant, and it’s astonishing how immense it is—many tunnels and private spaces and cozy corners, all beautifully lit. I passed by a couple in a private grotto getting a private concert from a jazz saxophonist. Watch your head as you explore! The food was fantastic, and I very much enjoyed the tacos with strips of steak. Out group of 5 shared the chocolate mousse and bananas foster and were delighted by both. A few disappointments that reduced my rating on the service: • No paper menus were available. The atmosphere is so high end, having to be on our phones felt tacky and not how we wanted to show up for a night together. • We had a hard time understanding our waiter, and he us. This resulted in a mix-up for one of our orders, and even though that dish was delicious, the manager didn’t offer even a small gesture to make up for the mistake. • The lack of forethought for accessibility. And elevator might be difficult to install, but at least a handrail could be there. (And there are lift devices that can be installed on those. There were some steps throughout the caverns that could easily be made into ramps instead.

Alux in Playa del Carmen completely blew me away. The food was absolutely amazing — every bite was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The drinks were perfectly balanced and so creative. The service was hands-down the best I’ve ever received; every staff member made us feel genuinely cared for. And the atmosphere? Breathtaking! Dining inside a cave surrounded by soft lights and natural beauty felt like something out of a dream. If you’re in Playa del Carmen, this is a must-visit restaurant. I can’t recommend it enough!

This is nice place to visit, great atmosphere, ambiance, etc. However, if you're looking to get normal portion size dishes, eat a little something before you come. They recommend you get appetizers, because the entrées are small. The cost is ok, but if you're looking for typical Mexican for portions this is not the place for you. It's a great place to say, "yes, I've been there."

Even though it's not peak season it's still busy but without feeling wall to wall with people which is great if not more comfortable. However this I suspect gives the sellers more opportunities to be bit pushy which I understand but still not a great fan of. Quite a few of the shops sell the same things so don't get sold on things being handmade (some probably were handmade just not likely done by seller). The food in the area is great. Overall an ok experience

This is a really dynamic place. Lots of different restaurants, shops, entertainment, etc. It’s worth visiting, very safe, always lots to see, and some brands you would recognize like Starbucks. Very much American like, pricing is also a bit more expensive than elsewhere in the city. All the foods are very safe to eat, all the drinks are very safe to drink, some restaurants offer very good specials, others offer a very amazing experience. One downside, I wish the city would finally clean up the problem with the drug dealers on every street corner, trying to sell to families with little children, seniors, minors, and anyone else that passes them by. I don’t know why there’s not a recognition of the problem and how much this turns tourism off. It’s not like they’re concealed, it’s not like they’re hiding anything, anyone walking by will be asked, in one day, the authorities could clean this problem up if they wanted to. It’s the only stain on otherwise amazing experience in PDC.

This is a huge pedestrian mall, and probably a "must experience" Playa del Carmen thing, made 100% for tourists, with lots of gimmicky kitsch, vendors all calling you their best friend, bars and clubs, with luxury goods in one section. It was fun briefly, and I had some amazing spicy Mayan drinking chocolate, but any more interesting art or culture is hidden elsewhere. If you like malls, you might love this space. Otherwise, go for a short visit just to have the experience.

The Playa del Carmen Archeological Site, also known as Xaman-Ha or Agua del Norte, was a small fishing village in the Pre-Hispanic era. The site features three small structures with remnants of additional constructions nearby. Visitors can climb on the structures and explore small compartments at the top. While there is no specific information about its age or inhabitants, it is believed to have been a Maya settlement.
Small remains of ruins long past forgotten about. Literally near the beach but surrounded by condos and townhomes. But still interesting

Gorgeous and a great place to see! I love that it is free and you can walk around the park on your own. It truly is a beautiful site and love the history behind it. We saw a ton of animals, including monkeys, this weird, lemur, looking thing, and what our hotel receptionist said was a mouse.

Have to walk along the beach to find this place. No signs anywhere we could see so asked the security guard that was shadowing our every move. Don't think I look that dodgy. Anyways, we got there was one ruin in some trees, and by ruin I mean ruined!. Can't understand where these photos of these ruins are from we must have missed something? Feed the mosquitos 🦟 and left. Even mosquitos repellent wasn't enough to keep the hungry mossies away. And as others have said, people just dumping rubbish. Can't understand why such a flash gated community don't clean up the litter!
Leon — Google review
Interesting place if you are in the area. The main problem seem to be the irresponsible tourists who love to pile stones on top of the constructions. The ruins are spread out and the best ones are close to the beach. The place should be better kept and with better panels highlighting the importance of the place for pilgrims on their way to Cozumel, specially after all the different tourist taxes we pay.

This Mayan Ruins are in the gated community of playacar. They are small but very cute to visit, if you are in the area! It’s not recommended to go for a full day visit unless you are planning to go to the beach near by, and the shopping mall near by, and also the Xaman-Ha ruins near by! There is some litter on these ruins, which is quite sad!
Suelen C — Google review
A small set of ruins that appear to have been a place of worship. Three ' buildings ' with entrances facing in different directions and with 2, 3 and 4 tiers (like very shallow pyramids with a room on top). Just at the side of the road between the large houses they are easily accessible.
Wayne F — Google review
If you are expecting grand Maya ruins, this is not it. I hate to give low score to historical ruins, but this is simply not the a site you should reserve a day to visit. This place is only worthwhile if you are in Playacar already for your trip. In this case, include in your walk or a bicycle ride from your resort the the Starbuck in Playacar. The site is small, and the ruins are very bad condition, it is also very easy to miss, since it behind tree/foliage. You will need to keep an eye for Xaman-Ha sign on the sidewalk.

Mexican goods store
Craft store
La Casa de las Hamacas is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking the quintessential Mexican hammock experience. Nestled conveniently between 52nd and 54th Streets on 30th Avenue, this charming shop specializes in an array of stunningly crafted hammocks made by talented artisans. With options ranging from nylon to cotton, and available in various sizes and vibrant colors, you're sure to find the perfect piece for relaxation or as a unique gift.
Great prices. Even better quality. If you’re thinking of getting a hammock, you won’t regret buying from here. I couldn’t make it to the shop but the staff answered all my questions on WhatsApp (check their FB page for details), took photos of their selection and delivered it to my hotel. What service. As for the hammock, you can definitely feel the quality. The tightly woven hammocks have strength!

Beautiful handmade hamacs! Very high quality and affordable at the same time, a small family business, plus the staff is very nice!

Great place to buy hamacas in very good prices. We really recommend it for anyone looking for them. Good varaity and selection. My wife really wanted one and we looked all over in the regular turist places and all were very expensive, 1500 mxn and up, while in this shop same and better quality started from 450mxn !! We bought a large nylon based material which is more expensive in 660 mxn!! Thank you La Casa De Las Hamacas.

I bought a beautiful cotton hammock for a great price. I know it will last for a long time and I always love buying hammocks from the place that makes them vs anywhere else. The owner was gracious with my horrible Spanish and thanks to Google translate we were able to communicate. We found parking right outside. She has a variety of hammock options including different materials, colors, and size.
Melanie F — Google review
Best location to buy a hammock! They sell all types of hammock (nylon, cotton, multiple sizes, thickness and color), hand made and great quality. Price is cheap (from ~485$mx) compared to anything you can find in souvenir places from tulum to Cancun). They give good advice and are really kind ! I will definitely come back ! (It’s definitely worth the trip to Playa del Carmen just for that if you are staying in other cities along the coast).
Aude C — Google review
I am so grateful for Google reviews because I found this awesome shop because of them! The man in the shop was incredibly knowledgeable. He helped me to pick out exactly what will work the best for what I need and the price was amazing. I didn't think that I'd be able to afford to being home a hammock and I really wanted one, but not only did I get one, I got TWO! And together they were less than one in the tourist zones. I highly recommend this place!

This place has it all! Mix between established restaurant chains and smaller local vendor stalls. Everything from Boxing club (gym) Dairy Queen, Wings Factory and Domino's pizza. There are many places to get a beer, cocktail or even carnitas by the kilo to-go. Ample sized kids water park play place. Small stage area setup for live music, and some nights there is a movie projected into the wall. Very new looking mixed space. About 50 different food/snack/beverage places. Perfect to feed everyone in the family, or just go to entertain yourself for a few hours. Worth the drive on CTM, which is very well maintained and accessable.

We went late at night. Like around 10pm and most of the stands were closed. I went during pandemic. Maybe that affects the hours. However, there were many places vacant. Beside that the idea is good a market with different types of food to choose from.

Chocolate shop
Ah Cacao Chocolate Café is often referred to as the Starbucks of Mexico, offering freshly roasted coffee and delectable chocolate treats sourced directly from Mexico. In addition to their renowned coffee, they also serve some of the best ice cream in Playa del Carmen, with their vanilla ice cream being a standout favorite. The café offers a variety of desserts, including a highly recommended chocolate cake that's not overly sweet or heavy.
Ah Cacao is a Mexican chain of very nice cafes offering amazing hot cocoa (or cold if you prefer). They of course have other drinks to offer - coffees or teas, and also, you can find here various cakes to choose from to accompany your drink. I especially recommend the brownies. You can also buy here souvenirs - like hand made chocolates or coffee beans. Very cosy place which I recommend to visit.
Cyntia P — Google review
This place is a gem. The chocolate drinks are rich and smooth, the coffee is strong, and everything feels fresh. I had the chocolate frappe and a brownie—both were amazing. You can taste the quality in every bite. The vibe is chill and the staff is super friendly. I came back three times in one week. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Playa!
Yuval C — Google review
I tried the Chocolate Frio and the Chocolate Tamale. Both were excellent; the drink was light but flavourful with no bitterness whatsoever. They did not overdo it with the sugar which was much appreciated. The tamale was dry but the great cacao flavour made up for it, I expect it is supposed to be consumed with a coffee. Will come again to purchase some products to bring back with me to Canada!

very good coffee and happy staff always meet for a great cup of coffee in the morning! Would highly recommend this coffee shop and got lucky that it’s October as the pan de muerte is fresh and amazing!
Chris Z — Google review
We are from a city that has incredible coffee, everywhere, on every block. We also have a fancy vintage Italian machine and make our own. We’ve taken classes on coffee to learn how to make it properly. We like a good strong americano to start our day, Ah Cacao was the only shop that hit with us. Strong, bold, but still smooth. Fantastic cup of coffee. Other places seem to use massive cups and your espresso based beverages are watered down because of it. Some other shops have potential, but Ah Cacao is the only one that has it down correctly. We liked it so much we tried their house special, a sort of iced mocha. It was amazing and we now get one as our second coffee on our daily walk to the beach. Their chocolate is insanely good (obviously). It’s not the cheapest coffee, but it’s the best and that’s what we want. Hope this review helps

After 2.5 months, I finally treated myself to a decadent Mayan Chocolate Frappe at Ah Cacao Café. The chocolate was rich with a hint of spicy 🌶️ chili and not overly sweet. I ordered mine with Coconut 🥥 milk and it was a perfect tropical treat. I sat inside which was wonderfully cool.

Tropical Tacos is a trendy taco spot offering a variety of unique tacos, including meat, fish, vegetarian, and vegan options. The menu features traditional Mexican favorites with a creative twist, often incorporating sprouts and other toppings for added flavor and health benefits. Located next to a tattoo parlor, the restaurant exudes laid-back vibes and serves funky tacos with tropical flavors.
These tacos slap—hard. Seriously, they’re absolutely delicious. With a wide variety of options, there’s something for every craving—even the ones you didn’t know you had. The vibe? Edgy in the best way. Think laid-back outdoor seating, a vibing interior, and staff who are both friendly and on point. But let’s be real—the tacos are the star. And trust me, they somehow hit even harder the second time around.

Best tacos in all of Playa! Most places serve you tortillas and meat however they serve there with generous amounts of veggies or fruit. The pineapple on the original taco was outstanding! Def recommend

Another spot we stop by very often. Beer is 50 pesos, the tacos are generous and funky mixing fusion from different regions of Mexico. The staff is nice and attentive. The owner and some staff members are from the West Coast, kind of a hip hop culture mix vibe.
Guillaume R — Google review
Fantastic tacos! We tried the arrachera, octopus, cochinita pibil, campechano and the original taco. Each taco had a generous serving of meat that was flavourful and juicy, plus some tasty toppings. The sauces they provide on the side were unique and flavourful. And the vibe is great.

Food, service, atmosphere on point. Found this place and it's in the quieter part of 5th which is perfect. Right around our bnb. Great taste, freshness was incredible. Will be our regular go to spot it PDC. Loved seeing the Kaws figures. Was a really cool thing to see if you're a fan.

Nicel Vibe, But Overpriced Tacos Cool vibe, fun decor, and quirky art. But the tacos didn’t quite justify the price. They looked good, but portions were small and the price was over 60 pesos, that's Dallas price but much smaller in size. We have multiple tacos within a couple of blocks of here that were half price and huge portions and flavors, amazing tortillas made to order.
Deepak P — Google review
This is a really cool place owned by a tattoo parlor. The folks who run it are chill and friendlier than they look. The place has great vibes and the tacos are all kinda funky and fruity with tropical flavors. Definitely a good spot to visit if you’re a foodie. But it’s not your traditional PDC taco (so I’m biased but it’s not my favorite style). It’s close to the best beaches and also in a lovely corner of town where you can sit outside and watch people walk by. Recommend a visit. We had fun trying some of the weirder tacos for lunch. But we were pretty hungry for dinner!
AJ L — Google review
Very cool spot with unique tacos. The “especial” is a mix of beef, shrimp, and more wrapped in crispy cheese placed across tortillas and topped with veggies. Cocktails are on point as well. Many of the places around Playa serve the same type of fries and they’re fine. Tropical Tacos serves excellent, well seasoned wedges. Definitely worth visiting.

Nestled just a few blocks from El Fagon on Avenida Constituyentes, Don Sirloin Taqueria is a must-visit for taco lovers in Playa del Carmen. This vibrant open-air eatery buzzes with the energy of the city and features tables adorned with an array of colorful hot sauces, perfect for drizzling over their expertly spit-roasted meats served on fresh corn tortillas.
Great spot for casual tacos. Outdoor seating throughout. Clean establishment. Good service. They are very good at the basics, and not in a bad way. Everything we had was good. The cheese and chorizo was our favorite. The tortilla taco with meat, onion, and veggies was amazing too. Good tacos, good tortillas, good cuts, good salsas. Not a big fan of the bottled aguas frescas, as they did not feel authentic in my opinion. A stray cat may come by to say hi.

Restaurant
El Fogon is a popular restaurant in Playa del Carmen, known for its delicious food and friendly staff. It's not a fine dining establishment, but it offers generous portions of tasty Mexican dishes. Visitors recommend trying the nachos, chicken fajita, and sirloin los alambres. The nachos come with a bean sauce that can make the chips soggy, so it's best to eat them quickly. The pineapple juice is refreshing and doesn't contain added sugars.
We probably ate here 4 times a week during our trip. El Fogon had the tastiest, simplest tacos I had in PDC. And although it gets busy, the staff is great, the service is quick, & the tacos are out of this world. A simple pollo taco and Modelo meal made all my days worth it! I’d 100% recommend.

First stop in playa de Carmen was of course to eat tacos ! Our first experience with El Fogon was amazing , the tacos were awesome , the Chorizo tacos were the best chorizo taco’s we’ve tasted in Cancun, playa, or tulum ! You have to give those a try , service was fine and our server was awesome as well , plenty of street parking and fair/Average prices , would definitely be coming back !

This location was on our way back from Chichen Itza. The food was good, we ordered nachos, chicken fajita, sirloin los alambres. Too much food, we packed 1/2 of the food and they included extra sides (cactus, cucumber, dips). Nachos are covered in a bean sauce which makes the chips soggy, so eat that quickly. Pineapple juice was refreshing (no added sugars). There was a server who kindly spoke and translated from the menu items to us in English. We left a 15% tip which they were very appreciative.

Chikin Ha is a stunning natural park that promises an unforgettable adventure for outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of typical tourist spots, this hidden gem offers a variety of activities such as sea-cave diving, rock climbing, biking, and exhilarating rope courses. The park is impeccably maintained, showcasing the dedication of its caretakers who ensure visitors have access to clean changing rooms, lockers, bathrooms, and showers.
Visiting this cenote was truly a dream come true. Tucked away from the more crowded tourist spots, this hidden gem offered a peaceful and magical experience. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and began our walk into the park. The walk was a bit long, but the anticipation of swimming in the cenotes kept us going! The entry fee was $20 per person and included life vests. We opted for the guided tour, which was included with a service tip—and it was well worth it. We explored three distinct cenotes, each one unique and breathtaking. Along the way, we also learned about Mayan culture and captured tons of beautiful photos. We sq Pro tip: Wear a hat for the walk in, definitely take the tour, and bring lunch to enjoy on-site. For an added cost, you can rent snorkel gear, have professional photos taken, or get a ride to the entrance if you prefer to skip the walk. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience I would highly recommend!

Beautiful spot with 2 cenotes and ziplines set up. One cenote is partially open, and the other is fully open. We saw fish and turtles in the water. There were 3 ziplines, with the third one being high above the canopy of the jungle. It was an amazing view and thrilling experience. The staff that worked here was careful and caring to ensure that we had a safe and enjoyable experience.

This place is nice. Were weren’t coming to this place but decide to ask and said they had 3. And the prices were not high at all 250 pesos for Mexican residents and 350 pesos for us citizens I think. The cenotes were not big but were a decent size the good thing is not crowded. The water was really cold it was clear and beautiful u could see everything under there was one cenote were u could scuba dive u could see were they were coming out a cave underneath the water. They had another one but that was closed because it was dirty. And there was another they had it’s wasn’t the cleanest but the reason why it was opened were trees are all around the cenote so there leaves inside the water and some green stuff on the water that makes the water look not to nice as the other one we saw. U will see the difference but like I said the reason why. U could take drinks , food no alcohol. Not at the actual cenote theres a place were u could eat and leave ur stuff. They have no lockers so if u go u have to take ur valuable stuff with u. So if u have a phone or other things take someone and switch around to take care each others stuff. While u go to inside the water Other than that great experience and friendly staff.

The Archaeological Site of Xel-Há is a former port of the Maya civilization that boasts of ancient ruins, including temples, and two freshwater pools. Though overshadowed by an aquatic park with the same name nearby, this site offers a breathtaking experience to those who visit. The area is home to iguanas scattered across its grounds. While not the most impressive in terms of ruins, it has a hidden cenote at the end of a trail through the forest that only few people know about.
Beautiful place. We were the only people there. Would come back here rather than crowded Tulum ruins any day. They let us swim in the beautiful cenote. One of the best experiences of my life honestly.
Christopher K — Google review
This is a great place to view Mayan Ruins!! I have no idea why we were the only ones there. Maybe the name sends everyone to the big resort. We liked this so much better than some of the huge places like Chichen-itza or Tulúm. I like that they are not overly restored. You get to see so much in its natural state. The placards are informative. I think if more people visited, the pathways would get an upgrade. And there are quite a few Iguanas. The guys at the front desk were feeding them tortillas so they all came running! There is even a Cenote at the end of the path! Great place. Don’t miss it.

Beautiful historical site!! Must visit… not kid or stroller friendly.. but worth visiting… long walking distance… the site is gravel and there’s stairs too… parking is way too far unless if you decide to pay for parking and do other activities like snorkeling or visiting the beach… even so you will still have walking distance to the site it self!! Well, have fun and take many pictures. The ocean view from the top is incredible

Breathtaking experience, unfortunately not too many people know about this hidden treasures because there's an aquatic park with the same name just a few miles away. With that said, we did have a fantastic experience as we were the only ones there and have all the time to enjoy the park at our own pace. There are iguanas all over the place.

Want to see Mayan ruins but dismayed by the crowds at Tulum? Try Xel-ha. The INAH owned and managed portion of the archaeological site is across the road from the resort complex of the same name. Great ruins for photography at Xel-ha with shaded trails for walking access. A building in the Lothrop Group near the highway has intact stucco murals. The cenote is worth seeing too. There is a nice level walk to the oval-shaped cenote. There is a small temple and shrine complex at the cenote's west end. There is an impressive Mayan raised road (sacbe) extending in a straight line from this complex to the palace ruins. Remember when at the entrance to photograph the site map so you can refer to it while walking the trails.

Stopped by on a Saturday and found it closed even though the website said they would be open. A very disgruntled security guard said it would be open Monday - Friday, but there are no posted hours anywhere and he clearly just wanted us to go away.

Lovely place to visit and relax if you’re a swimmer or water life lover! Can get busy if you go on weekends

Located very close to most hotels this place is a cool historical site. You will likely have it to yourself. There are ruins and a cenote for swimming

Jesus is an incredible guide and the tour was very informative. We saw lots of howler and spider monkeys, many types or birds and insects around the reserve. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience for our family! Guide is a must and well worth the price of $1450 pesos for 2 adults and 2 children. Saw howler and spider monkeys. Some rugged terrain, so wear hiking shoes.

Very friendly guide, and active monkeys at the end of the day. Long drive, and not much of anything else there. We only walked around and saw the monkeys at the very end. Did not go in the cenote, lagoon or anything else.

We stumbled upon this place when we were driving from Tulum to Holbox and so glad that we stopped by! We didn’t take a tour but just entered to look around to check out the jungle. We saw a lot of monkeys, anthills, butterflies and some strange moving leaves 🤣 But I thought less than an hour of visit was enough for it to visit the monkeys. I think it is possible to explore the lagoon but we never did.

This was a fun morning stop with my fiancé on our way to Valladolid. Jesus was an amazing guide. He grew up in the area so was very knowledgeable; and even so was just as excited as us to see the monkeys. He even lended us binoculars (of better quality than the ones that we brought just because they were smaller/light-weight for packing). The trek through the jungle was close to 2hrs. An easy hike for those that are concerned about difficulty. Would recommend long pants, close-toed shoes, and bug spray. The jungle and lake is beautiful with ancient ruins/temples sprinkled about. We saw both families of howlers and squirrel monkeys quite a few times during our visit. The souvenir store had cute unique monkey embroidered items at a fair price. Highly recommended for those interested in seeing squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and other animals in their natural habitat. Please visit and support this good cause.

Beautiful spot to see spider monkeys. The 200 pesos it costs help to keep the sanctuary alive and running. You do not have to pay for a guide. Walk slowly listen to the sounds. You will find the monkeys

Amazing tour would highly recommend to anyone! We spoke to Jesus via facebook to organise the trip in advance they are very responsive and informative about the booking process. We had Armando as our guide and he was excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful. We did the full tour which combines monkey spotting, zip-lining and swimming in a cenote. A very unique and unforgettable experience.

Went late afternoon and were disappointed. Price is $200 MXN per person for entrance AND an additional $600 MXN for a guide. Since it was very late the guide agreed to do the tour for $500 MXN, but still very high for a 40 minute tour. We did see two spider monkeys from a distance, but we also saw 2 at the Coba ruins and one on the side of the road - that we fed a banana. The guide told us that a family of spider monkeys live near the trail, but not any Howlers or Toucans. We do appreciate the need for reserves, and we're glad to help the local economy, but our guide told us the community only receives a small portion of the admission fees.
