A popular tourist destination on Mexico's Caribbean coast, Tulum is one of the few places that have successfully preserved its unique Mayan and Caribbean culture. With favorites like Palma Central, El Camello Jr., and VERDANT, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Roraima and Cosme´s Taquería so you can get the best taste of Tulum while you’re here. Outdoor Activities
Playa Akumal, located in the Riviera Maya, is a popular public beach where visitors can enjoy snorkeling and swimming with turtles. The bay's waters are home to these beautiful creatures, making it possible for snorkelers to observe them up close as they feed on aquatic vegetation. The beach's name, which means 'place of the turtles' in Mayan, reflects its main attraction.
Crowded? YES. Still very magical. This was my nine year olds second time snorkeling and he could keep up because the waters were calm. We saw probably a dozen turtles. Guides really respect the environments. It was at time difficult to move out of the way of the turtles because of the crowd but still highly recommend booking a tour here (over Isla).

Entrance is 140 pesos now and you will be harassed by so called ‘information’ and ‘bay patrol’ guys every 5 minutes. Just go to the Lol-Ha cafe to have breakfast and have a look at the beach before and after. It’s not a nice bay anymore, it’s full of snorkel / dive boats, full of sea weed and most of all full of lines with buoys that help snorkel guide chase turtles in groups of 12 (!!!). Any many groups at the same time. If you want to snorkel yourself, you can in the first 20 meters, you can spot a turtle in that under water grass as well. Just enjoy it from a distance. And for really nice reef snorkelling, go somewhere else.
Review M — Google review
Did a wonderful snorkeling tour here. Good to know: Entrance to the beach is 140 pesos, cheaper for children. This fee is for the lockers, changing rooms, showers etc. The sign at the ticket office explicitly says you don't need a tour to enter the beach. There is a route made through the water with ropes which I believe most tours were following. You just swim it with your guide (I believe swimming vests are mandatory). We got to see 5 Turtles, some Stingrays, different types of fish and the reef. The beach itself is pretty rocky, so not ideal for a real Beach day. You can park about 100m from the entrance for 100 pesos.
Emma N — Google review
The fact that literally all the beach altough offers no actual amenities is paid…is so sad…you are not even allowed to a certain point where the turtles are without paying for a guide…. Locals told me that used to be actually public/ free but not anymore…
Georgios T — Google review
Really enjoyed this clean and safe beach. It has a nice atmosphere - lively enough to feel fun, but not chaotic. A small tip for anyone visiting: if you don’t want to pay the 120 MXN access fee, walk straight down Calle 16 to the very end. You’ll reach a car park, just walk through the grounds and past the pool, and you’ll end up right on the beach.
Junaid A — Google review
Ok I read the reviews about how the turtles are being exploited and was skeptical at first but they actually look pretty relaxed and unbothered, they look clean and not filled with barnacles. The guide leads you to where they are and points some other marine life. I had a fun experience here! I had a private tour just myself and paid 30$. I looked online and usually they charge 45$ per person. It was fine by me since I had the solo attention of the guide. Me and my husband went around 10am ish and went to Lo-Ha restaurant this way we didn’t need to pay for beach access since my husband is not into beaches. We ordered drinks and lunch. While waiting I walked around the beach and there were a couple of guides that offered tours. So you can pick and think about it. You don’t need to buy it in advance since there are an abundance of guides at the beach area. My guide took care of me, he had new snorkels, I let him pull me a bit since he had fins and I didn’t. They all have floatation devices for safety. But I saw different sizes of turtles, and blue fish, squid, rays, even a ships cannon from the Spanish era. All in all it was a good experience. If you want to swim with the turtles I say go for it! Oh and parking is 100$ there’s a lot to your right that will say the price, and they will give you a ticket.

We came here on Thursday, November 6, 2025 and snorkeled with the turtles and the fish. The water was very warm, the weather was great! Our tour guide, from Cancun Adventures, who was with us all day, showed us around and she was really awesome! Although there was less fish than I expected and I couldn’t get any photos, it really was awesome to see! (Written 11-16-25)
Conor C — Google review
Highly scammy - “impossible to swim without a guide”. The “guides” costs 700 pesos per person and you go in groups of 12. We looked from the beach and the waters were packed with people and boats. Much better options going somewhere else.

Yal-Ku Cenote, also known as Cenote Akumal, is a large and shallow cenote located close to the sea, giving it the feel of an inlet rather than a traditional cenote. It's a popular spot for snorkeling due to its clear waters and abundant marine life, including fish and sea turtles. The lagoon offers paths and benches for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.
Is a great lagoon. It was not very crowded, offered a very unique blend of fresh and saltwater animals and plants. It was very clean and accessible. Staff were great. It does not have the usual amenities, including food and trinkets, but this was not mess. They have usable bathrooms, Goodyear rentals at a reasonable price. And they recommended.
Addison T — Google review
The snorkeling in lagoon was very cool. The food was subpar and not good. The service at restaurant was lacking. We did rent a palapa and enjoyed it. The ceviche Vallarta was not good. My child said chicken nuggets were mushy inside. French fries good. Crowded in opening with tours, after tours left in afternoon a lot more pleasant. There were hammocks in our palapa that we enjoyed. Make sure you eat well before you get there, as the food service was not good. They do not allow you to bring your own food. They need more help in restaurant.
Diane T — Google review
We rented the Casa Laguna adjoining this lagoon and it was amazing to explore the place at different times of the day. Around 5-6pm is the best time of day, we experienced at least 7-8 full schools of different fish and they were much more in the open than during the morning or midday times. One of the highlights of our trip to Akumal for sure, highly recommend this experience and this casa was wonderful!

This is a place you want to visit because it located in a beautiful and connects to the ocean. The water is pretty and landscape also. There is no overhead canopy cenotes, they all open so great for kids. Buy tickets there, cheaper.
Albert O — Google review
A very beautiful cenote. I loved it. It's a good choice since I've visited several. Even though it's an open saltwater cenote, it's still an excellent place. There's a variety of tropical fish and small animals.
Elias ( — Google review
Our friend advised us this lagoon. The earliest you get in, the better it is so you can enjoy being almost alone there. It is quiet, chill, and you can actually see a lot of fishes. The snorkeling area is quite vast so you can wander around and contemplate the underwater world with lots of space to explore. The water is very nice, considering its not possible to swim anywhere else in the Sargassum period ! An oasis of quietness and finally, swimming possibility for us ! 🙏 (We went there middle of August). You can hang around, lie in hamacs and sleep… we stayed here all day, enjoyed the sun and the nature surrounding us. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 👍
Enora G — Google review
Super cool! Not a lot of people and lots of fish to see snorkeling!
Rachel S — Google review
The lagoon is beautiful! I highly recommend getting there early. Around 11 it started to get busy, and it became a little crowded. The water was clear and cool, and fish were plentiful! We rented gear from the front desk, and the masks were the full face snorkel masks that tend to fog up a lot. The current is strong to the right of the entrance, towards the ocean. Life jackets are required but weak swimmers be careful!

The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary is a unique attraction in the Mayan Riviera region that offers a safe and enjoyable environment for animal lovers to interact with rescued primates and other animals. The sanctuary is home to a variety of species, including howler monkeys, spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, lemurs, snakes, ostriches, zebras, deer, goats, and birds.
We had an overall excellent visit with our group. The staff, including the veterinarian, led the group in a fun, educational manner and the whole event was on time. In Mexico! Our group of kids had so much fun being guided through an artistic, educational monkey presentation followed by a tour including all the monkeys there, the birds (gorgeous) and even a snake. The property is spacious and very well kept. If you have children, we highly recommend Akumal Monkey 🐒 Sanctuary. Recommended to book in advance.

I went on a weekday and this place did not disappoint! They have a small zoo with zebras, an ostrich, monkeys, and deer – I’m sure more animals too, but I didn’t get to see them all. I was mainly here for the ATVs, and wow… what an adrenaline rush! We rode about 5 miles through rocky, muddy trails – heart-pounding and intense (at least for me!). Experienced riders might find it less challenging, but it was the perfect mix of fun and adventure. The tour guides were awesome, always checking in and making sure everyone was safe. My package included lunch, which had burgers, hotdogs, fries, fruit, and a few extras – a nice way to wrap up the ride. Overall, an amazing experience and totally worth it!

Great place! Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. Learned so much about their behaviors and the sanctuary’s conservation work. The monkeys were adorable and well cared for. Definitely worth a visit!
Martin J — Google review
Tour cost 70USD pp. Tour with guide Atziri was great. She explained animals behavior and purposes of sanctuary. Sitting with adorable Monkey in cage was amazing and super exciting. Only disappointment was a price of photos taken by photographer (60USD). You are not allowed to make photos in monkey's cage due to safety (your and monkey) reason so it's only option to save this great memory.

Absolutely adore this place - have visited twice and will be returning when I go back to Mexico in October - genuinely care for the wellbeing and welfare of the animals - all about education and conservation - not exploiting animals. I put down feedback after my first visit and was so happy to see that it was been heard and actioned when I visited again! Angel has been my guide twice now - absolutely delightful human being. Keep up the good work guys. See you soon x

We had a great time at the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary! There were only 4 of us in our group which was nice. Our guide, Atziri, was great. She did the tour in both English and Spanish. She took the time to learn all of our names, and she was extremely knowledgeable about the animals. The animals are well taken care of. They are all animals that can not go back into the wild. They explained how they got many of the animals and what special needs they may have. It was a walking tour that lasted a little over 90 minutes. Wear comfy shoes and dress for humidity! We bought biodegradable insect repellent there and were so glad we did. It had rained in the morning, and the mosquitos were out en masse. You are in the jungle after all! We were able to have a monkey sit on our heads and laps. We weren’t able to handle the monkey, and they only have one monkey at a time out. The monkeys are rotated through groups, and one monkey doesn’t participate more than one time per day. They picked us up from our hotel and then dropped us off afterwards. All in all, a great afternoon!

AtlasAdventured highly recommends visiting the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary! While living in Tulum we decided to visit the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary for our daughter's 6th birthday and we had an amazing experience. We booked the 'Monkey Sanctuary + Snorkel' package and we added on the buffet lunch for about 7k pesos for all three of us (~$115 USD each) You are told to arrive 15 min before your scheduled tour or you risk losing your spot and will not be refunded. We arrived 30 min early but tour orientation started about 15 minutes late anyways and a few people in our group arrived even later than that but we're still admitted so not sure how strict this rule is. Our group only had 7 people in it. Our family and two other couples. There was also our tour guide and the photographer/cameraman who takes pics and videos of you throughout the day. You can buy single media files or all of them at the end of your time there. We walked through a few of the different animal areas and got to pet some goats before getting to the most anticipated part of the experience, getting to interact with a Monkey. There are no cameras, jewelry, personal belongings, etc allowed in the enclosure and one girl in our group had dermal piercings that they were trying to get her to take our but she explained that it wasn't possible and they asked her to keep her hair down to try and cover it so the Monkey didn't grab at it. The monkey crawls on your head and then across your hands as they give it treats so be prepared to have Monkey saliva and treats scattered over ya. You can't pet/hold the Monkey. They do have multiple sinks to wash your hands thoroughly before and after your time with the Monkey. Since there are no cameras allowed in the monkeys area, the only way to get pictures of this experience is to buy them at the end of your tour. Then you get to pet a snake which was cool but nothing too crazy. Then a photo opp with some colorful parrots/birds. All of this happens over the course of 1.5-2 hours. If you book the Snorkel package, this is the point where they get you ready to drive down to Akumal Bay. You get Snorkel and goggles provided. They load you into one of their Akumal Monkey Sanctuary vans and drive you down to the bay where you will meet your certified guide who will explain the rules and will be with you during the Snorkel experience. After getting life jackets on and your belongings put away in a bin on the beach (no lock on the bin and we weren't offered lockers but there were lockers both at the Sanctuary and at the beach area. Not sure the price or if you have the opportunity to rent those), then you get on a small boat for about 5 minutes before jumping in to Snorkel. Not sure if the boat is always used or if they just had us get on it to get past the sargassum. You Snorkel for about 15 minutes in the deeper water where there are lots of fish and coral before swimming about halfway in where the turtles hang out. We saw 4-5 turtles and were really close to them. Obviously, you are not allowed to touch them. After snorkeling, you take the 10 minute drive back to the Sanctuary where you can enjoy your buffet lunch. This is the only part that was a let down for us. When we arrived most tables were full except 1 in the back that had no fans and was in the sun so it was extremely hot and lacked air flow. The buffet was pretty much empty of good food and had some fruit, veggies, about 10 cold fries, 1 hamburger that was cold and some chips with cheese sauce. We asked the workers about the empty trays and they said more hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Would be out in about 5 min but after 20 minutes of picking at fruit and chips we were over it and decided to head back home. We did buy the media package with all of our pics and a video compilation of the day but the pictures were not the best quality even though they used a gopro and the color seemed off but better than nothing. They tried charging $100 usd for the pictures but we were able to talk him down to about half that. Great experience overall!
Atlas A — Google review
Highly recommend this excursion! We did the atv riding, cenote (not as nice as the others but very cool), and obviously a walk of the sanctuary and the opportunity to hold the monkeys! Staff was absolutely amazing!

Stunning! I stayed at the Hilton and this was literally right outside the property across the road, easy cab ride. Unbelievably beautiful and quite a surprise. Had it to myself! Small cenote but just look at the pictures! This place is amazing!

This place is AMAZING! You do have to drive down a long dirt path (so be prepared) lol but it is worth it! The cave tour was very interesting and the cenote is something out of a dream! Crystal clear blue waters and beautiful rock cave formations. All the workers are so nice!!!! 🩷 Also, They have the cutest spider monkeys!! We wanted to come back the next day just to see them again, adorable!

Our visit to Aktun Chen was an experience that truly took our breath away. It's hard to describe how incredibly beautiful and peaceful this place is. It made us stop and think — how amazing and fragile our world is. Our guide was absolutely wonderful — he spoke with such love and deep respect for nature, explaining the formation of each stalactite and stalagmite like telling a sacred story. You could feel his passion and how important it is to preserve this natural wonder for future generations. Swimming in the cenote inside the cave was magical — the water was cool and clear, and the atmosphere was calm and spiritual. Thank you to the whole Aktun Chen team for such a meaningful and emotional experience. We’ll never forget it!

It’s worth the trip and the hiking is not difficult. Be prepared to need to duck down as you enter the cave as it is low for the first 10-20 meters but almost all of the rest is a comfortable height and not too many stairs.

Pretty spectacular place. Went on a rainy day so perfect for a cave cenote. 4 stars because the pricing looks like they change it. 650 mxn per person just for the cenote. Expect to pay per activity And We got there too late to do the other activities. At 340 pm we paid for the cenote they told us they close at 530. At 445 they were trying to say they were closing at 5pm. We stayed until 518. But they cut the WiFi off at 510pm and all the workers started leaving. No transportation back to reception We had to wait for our ride for 25 minutes with no WiFi hoping they would find us at the cenote instead of at reception Wasnt a great way to end our experience negotiating the time we paid for and WiFi to get picked up.

Paradise Beach, also known as Playa Paraiso or Tulum Paraiso Beach, is a stunning stretch of white sand and turquoise waters located in the Riviera Maya. It's often hailed as one of Mexico's best beaches and is a popular destination for tourists worldwide. The beach boasts swaying palm trees, lush jungle surroundings, and nearby Mayan ruins, creating an idyllic setting for relaxation and exploration.
Great clean spot to relax. Only bad thing is that it’s a protected park now. There’s a small fee of 60 pesos per person. You cannot take any of your own drinks, plastic cups etc. there’s a military post making sure of this. Also, they close all of this area by 6pm.
Rcantu65 — Google review
I recently visited this beach and had a mixed experience. The scenery is beautiful, with swaying palm trees and soft white sand, perfect for a relaxing day by the ocean. The beach was spacious, allowing for plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the sun. However, I did notice some seaweed along the shore, which detracted from the overall aesthetics. While it’s a natural occurrence, it would be great if the beach staff could clean it up more regularly to maintain its pristine look. The amenities were decent, with plenty of lounge chairs available. However, it felt a bit crowded at times, especially closer to the beach bars. Overall, it's a lovely spot to unwind, but a bit of maintenance could enhance the experience significantly. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

A beautiful beach with an amazing view. Try to get up early and watch the whales swimming and the sun rising. Absolutely lovely place. Can't wait to go back there next year. Suitable for couples, families, larger groups. Just an amazing place.

We didn't enjoy Tulum. It's like the movie your best friend overhyped and then it's a total disappointment. You have to pay an entrance fee to get in to Paraide beach, pay to park, pay to actually use the beach, pay for chairs/umbrella and pay again for a towel and THEN you can pay for your drinks and food. We went when the seaweed was out of control so it didn't help that we couldn't even enjoy what we paid through the nose for. It's the same issue at all of the beaches and I gave a 3 because it's the best of the ridiculous beach accessibility choices.
Cat S — Google review
Beautiful beach that you can see from the Tulum archeological site. It was an amazing blue ocean and white sand!

There is so much sargassum here that the sea has turned brown. Also you have to pay an entrance fee to access. Would not recommend.
Xerxes B — Google review
Definitely our favorite beach in Tulum! The sand is amazingly soft and white, sea is warm and calm, with no fishes around. The beach is in natural reserve (so in the protected area, as other Tulum beaches) so you can’t bring any plastic here (plastic bottled water or other potential garbage) - which is great, because this way they can maintain the beach clean, nice and preserve it for future generations! We have travel a lot but haven’t seen a beach this clean! And of course, you can find here the famous leaning palm tree 🌴
Cyntia P — Google review
No idea what time portal other visitors traveled through to get to the beach they rave about, but this entire stretch of coast was a disappointment. First off, this entire area is part of a National Park. The fee to enter the one road leading to it is 50 MXN. Then when you choose an area to park, you must pay. It is not free. About 250 MXN. These prices would be worth it for any good beach, but my visit in late May was a bummer. Not the fault of service nor of the locals, but I walked from Playa Paraiso up to Playa Santa Fe and sargassum was washed up along the entire shore. The sand away from the water was beautiful; fine white powder. But the water was not even that stunning, and also contains even more sargassum. Makes me wonder where all those other photos came from. I don't need to visit again.

This is the place to go for authentic traditional Mexican dishes. I did not know what I would find here but I had a huge bowl of pozole for $6 USD. Tons of meat. Made from scratch. Just truly enjoyed the homemade meal. I would come here everyday and try every dish they make. Posting the sign for the stall opening really early in the morning serving breakfast. They are at the corner of the market with a sink to wash your hands.

I love visiting Ciudad Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen. A friend of mine lives there, and every time I go, I’m struck by the peace and quiet. The community is surrounded by lush vegetation, which makes it feel like a perfect balance between nature and modern living. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you can really tell that the residents are happy to be part of this place. It’s a beautiful, tranquil community that feels like a hidden gem.

Hamburger restaurant
Roraima is a popular burger joint in Pueblo Tulum, offering a variety of options including vegan burgers and classic American cheeseburgers. The menu features delicious choices like the chorizo burger with avocado and basil/cilantro dressing, as well as grilled portobello mushroom vegan burgers. The portions are generous, and customers can choose between regular potato fries or fried yuccas to accompany their meal.
Burgers were amazing, some of the best we have had in Mexico! Service was quick, and portions are massive, we definitely didn’t need 2 portions of fries. Really good value for money, not much space to sit, loved the milkshakes/fruit juice too!!
Alicia B — Google review
Good burger for 110 pesos! I had the portobello option and was happy i chose it. The tostones (fried banana) are delicious and a good substitute of the typical French fries. Overall good experience!
D — Google review
Roraima has some pretty awesome burgers! I got the vegan burger and it was delicious! It was a grilled portobello mushroom and lots of veggies so it really doesn’t have much protein but it was still very tasty. My wife got one of their beef burgers and loved it. They are huge! I also highly recommend their aguas frescas, French fries and yucca!
Matthew R — Google review
The Vegana Especial burger was very good. Just the place is too small and have no bathroom, not even a place to wash your hands. Maybe is better to order by delivery. But as said before, my hamburger was good.
Juan G — Google review
Had an Americana and a Giulio. Burgers were ok. They were both cooked 'well done', and that made them dry. It could've been so much better if they were cooked medium to medium done. Friendly staff, nice small seating area. Printed menus would be great as it was a bit hard to read the menu above the counter.
Daphne O — Google review
The burgers are good. The wooden plate with the plastic cover was a bit weird and I’ve had better fries before but the burger was very juicy and fresh. Waiters were friendly. That was the only burger we’ve had in Tulum so there’s nothing to compare them to. If you like burgers go fog it ;)

Cosme's Taquería is unquestionably one of the preferred local establishments. Even after relocating from Akumal, people still make the drive from Playa del Carmen to enjoy their food. The establishment may be simple, but the meat and side dishes are absolutely delightful. It was here that a child had their first taste of tacos and has been hooked ever since. They even request to return specifically to this place. Whenever it's available, the combination platter showcases various meats.
This fun spot has delicious barbecued meats, served family style. You make your own tacos and can load them up with delicious salsas. If you have any vegetarians, they’ll bring you a giant plate of creamy avocados. (They’l bring that anyway!) They even let us sing karaoke on their sound system. :) We enjoyed their awesome hospitality and would definitely come back.
Tammie K — Google review
This is hands down one of my favorite local spots. Even once we moved from Akumal, we still drove from Playa del Carmen to dine at this place. It’s no frills but the meat and sides are delicious. My son enjoyed his first tacos here and has been eating tacos every since. He actually requests to come here. The combo platter when available has different meat. If you need more rice, beans or sauce - just ask. The service is friendly and quick. And we always leave satisfied. Afterwards take a walk around to explore beautiful Akumal art. The neighborhood is safe and friendly. Be kind and tip. Enjoy! I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up.

We love to find little local joints especially BBQ but this one is quite disappointing compare to others judge on both flavour and price. I believe we were charged tourist price.

Our cheapest meal our whole trip! It was authentic and delicious. We got tacos al pastor and Carne asada and all the fixins. Come prepared to speak only Spanish but it's worth every effort!

Ate here twice. Some of the most delicious, simple, and cheap tacos in the whole Riviera Maya. menu is limited (tacos of whatever they are cooking that day). Staff is friendly. Cash only affair and closes pretty early at night.

Great whole fish and guacamole! My veggie family liked the quesadillas. We just kept coming back. Better than most restaurants at reasonable price.

It was soooo gooood and the staff is very cool and very friendly. If you are in akumal you have to eat tacos here!

Discovered this place 2 days ago and have been twice. If we weren't flying home tomorrow, I'd go again. The chicken is very simple, very fresh, and very delicious. Simply seasoned and perfectly char grilled. Extremely casual, it is more or less a sidewalk stand and the food is oh,so good. They don't have alcohol but if you ask they are happy to go right next door and bring you beers ! Service with a smile ! And very reasonably priced.

Supermarket
Wine store
Súper Akí Tulum is a large grocery store situated at the main intersection as you enter town. It offers a wide range of products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, clothing, souvenirs, toiletries, and even alcohol. The store also features a restaurant or bar inside. Visitors appreciate the convenience of finding everything they need in one place. Additionally, there is a Hertz car rental located in the same parking lot for added convenience.
Just off the highway with a manned car park to keep the traffic flowing. Well stocked. Lovely colourful presentation of fruits and veg on entrance. Lots of staff stocking the shelves and no lines at the checkout.
Mike B — Google review
We were happy to find a supermarket with such a wide variety of local and international products. That said, the prices clearly cater to tourists rather than the local economy, so don’t expect to save much on groceries. Still, it's a convenient stop if you're looking for mid-long term stays.
Eric O — Google review
This was the closest local market to our Airbnb/condo. Decent fresh fruit, friendly and helpful staff especially if you can speak some Spanish. We came on a Sunday and noticed that there was a liquor area It was sectioned off. We planned to purchase some local alcoholic beverages on the way out, but got there at 5:15 pm local time. We were surprised and disappointed to find out that on Sunday to stop Selling alcohol at 5 PM.
Addison T — Google review
A good grocery store for food and necessities. Not as nice and well maintained as Chedraui but definitely has some better prices (some more expensive prices too). Staff was not that friendly but it was very busy and a little hectic when we went. Seems more like the 'locals' grocery store and less touristy focused, which is good. There is a small clothing and souvenir area near the produce area. Has everything you should need. Parking is a little crazy with how many people are rushing around the parking lot but just pay attention and you will be fine. The register and check out lines are narrow and lack space. Lines take a long time to move because of the checkout process and limited space to bag groceries. Produce, souvenirs, clothing and some snack items were slightly cheaper here compared to Chedraui but didn't have quite the selection or have the cleanliness in meat and bakery department as Chedraui.
Atlas A — Google review
Good general purpose market. Prices are fair.
George B — Google review
Great supermarket. Some items were cheaper than it’s competitor, but space is smaller. Still has everything you could need here. ATM inside charges very low rate to use (probably the lowest one I found in Tulum). Staff were helpful despite language barrier.
Marika — Google review
Supermarket is very good. If you need anything go you trip good place to go. Also has liquor and wine.
Jeralyn W — Google review
I underestimated the size of this supermarket and ended up spending a good couple of hours there 🫣 they literally have everything you need which was super handy for staying in an apartment. I really liked their Pandaderia (bakery) and cafe section although it gets very busy and there are a lot of flies. The food however is delicious and great value for money. They also have ATM’s inside but they charge quite a bit of commission if you’re travelling and need cash.

El Camello Jr. is a popular spot in Tulum known for its delicious and affordable seafood dishes. Despite its unassuming exterior, the restaurant is always bustling with locals eager to savor their fresh and indulgent seafood offerings. The menu features standout items like seafood soup, tangy ceviche, shrimp cocktail, and whole fried mojarra fish that's crispy on the outside and tender inside.
Amazing food experience. Highly recommend the Ceviche, Filet de Pescado en Salsa Camello and the Shrimp in Garlic. So good you don’t want your meal to end. Portions are great and we came back a second time and will likely go again before leaving Tulum! Paid around 250-280 Pesos per meal plus drinks (160 for cocktails).

El Camello Jr. is a must every time we’re in Tulum. The seafood is always fresh and flavorful, and my wife swears by their fried fish — crispy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. It’s a laid-back spot with great prices, generous portions, and fast, friendly service. Easy to find and well worth the visit, this place never disappoints. A true local gem!
David C — Google review
It’s a local restaurant with good food. We went twice. The ceviche mixto (shrimp and octopus)was my favorite, the portions are very generous. We got a whole fried fish and tacos too. If you want good food and don’t want to spend too much this is the place! I really recommend it!
Adriana V — Google review
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Tulum. The seafoods are so fresh and they give you so much food you would not walk out of here hungry. The prices are so cheap we had literally appetizer + food + desserts + drink for two under 850 pesos. Please try the pasta here if u have not. I be coming back soon :))
Sally B — Google review
We liked the food and the atmosphere, everything was great. Make sure to bring cash as they don't accept any other payment method.
Issam K — Google review
Came here solely based on the number of reviews this place got. I only tried the guac and the grilled fish tacos. The food itself was very fresh, I think the guac could have had a little more spice, but they did have hot sauce sitting around. The price was reasonable, it could be a little lower for what it is. But overall good experience. If I go back, it will be to try something new.
Alina A — Google review
We heard El Camello Jr. recommended over and over—especially for the ceviche—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The fish was super fresh, the portions generous, and the flavor spot on. It’s a place that feels authentic, which is refreshing in a town like Tulum where so much feels overly curated. Great value for money and friendly, efficient service made it one of our favorite stops in Tulum.

Burrito Amor is a laid-back spot with a large covered terrace, offering an extensive menu of vegan and gluten-free options. The restaurant features homemade tortillas filled with various stuffings, including meat, vegetarian, vegan, egg-free, dairy-free, or paleo-friendly fillings. Emphasizing clean eating and fresh ingredients while delivering flavorful meals, Burrito Amor also has a full bar serving signature cocktails along with aguas frescas, coffee, and fresh juices.
✅ Positives: Amazing service and a cute ambiance — works for solo meals, couples, family dinners, or even a date. The burrito was super tasty and the price felt fair. ❌ Negative: Wanted fresh coconut water but they only had bottled. With so many healthy, fresh menu options, this felt like a miss. Overall great spot for a delicious, well-priced burrito in a relaxed setting. Would definitely come back, specially for their breakfast.

Burrito Amor is a stylish and relaxed spot in Tulum, perfect for a light and fresh meal. The burritos are served wrapped in banana leaves, which looks nice and is practical. The gluten-free coconut tortilla is a creative twist, and the menu has plenty of options – from vegan to rib-eye – with fresh ingredients. Smoothies and juices are interesting, though sometimes a bit watery. Prices are on the higher side for Tulum but still reasonable. The open, airy setting feels welcoming, and the staff are friendly. Overall: a great place if you’re after healthy, modern burritos in a chill setting. Not the most authentic Mexican punch of flavor, but definitely worth a visit.
Manuel Z — Google review
Service, quality of food, aesthetics - everything perfect. Since prices are on European-American level here in Tulum, this place remains one of those with fair prices and excellent products and welcoming service. The rib eye burrito was the best I’ve ever had. Coffe for 50 Pesos, Burritos 140-200 pesos. Also the best banana bread of my life… 5 stars all the way!

The restaurant was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The menu had loads of options for everyone - gluten free, vegan, vegetarian etc. The food came quickly and the burritos were presented beautifully. The fish burrito was delicious with lots of flavour and filling. The prices were a bit on the expensive side but tulum is not that affordable in general compared to other parts of Mexico due to mass tourism. Would recommend this place :)

Absolutely loved Raw Love in Tulum! 🌿 The atmosphere is gorgeous, peaceful, and cool (such a nice spot to relax in the heat). I had a fresh coconut which was obviously delicious, then shared the Zucchini Alfredo (zucchini pasta with cashew cream, basil pesto, smoked tomatoes, walnuts, and arugula) and the Maki Rolls (nori wraps with fresh veggies). Everything was super fresh, flavorful, and 100% plant-based. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful vegan-friendly place in Tulum!

Raw Love Tulum! I had heard about this place before but never got the chance to try it until now. There are two locations in Tulum since I couldn’t find the one in the hotel zone, I went to the downtown spot, and wow… what a fantastic experience! The place has such a bohemian, cool vibe that makes you feel calm and relaxed. I ordered the açaí berry bowl, quinoa salad, and chocolate cake. The açaí bowl was unlike anything I’ve ever tried 10/5! The quinoa salad was also delicious, solid 5/5. And the chocolate cake? Another perfect 5/5. This spot is definitely worth stopping by. The staff are amazing, and while it’s a little on the pricey side, the quality makes it totally worth it. I can’t wait to go back and try more!

The food is very clean and healthy, and the ambiance and vibes are amazing. This place is unique and has so much character with beautiful artwork and murals to enjoy. But the best part was the warmth and hospitality I received from the staff here. We had a rainstorm and power outage while I was here and they gave us incredible hospitality and conversation. Adam and Noalie are total gems - such warm people that make you feel at home.

Found this little outdoor gem and am so thrilled! The margaritas are delicious-strong/not too sweet! Plenty of gluten and dairy free options. The staff are kind and attentive. The outdoor garden is magical and the outdoor indoor bar looks really quaint and inviting! I would definitely come back!

This was the first restaurant we tried in tulum. We went on a Saturday night and the margaritas were 2 for 1. Our server was Nicolas and he was very welcoming and helpful. My husband had the short rib tacos, which were a bit boring but still good. I however, enjoyed the octopus tacos, it was bursting with flavor and so delicious. We also enjoyed guacamole, the chips were wonderful and guac was fresh, I also really liked the serving dish they came on.

My favorite restaurant in Tulum because of the ambiance. Servers do assume you're not a big ticket if you're solo. So they tend to bigger tables with more enthusiasm. My steak was undercooked this time, but that's never happened before. Overall, it's always a treat.

You come here for the mexican food. Lots of sea food options. I loved the tostada the atun which was one of the best I had. Also one of the few places serving grilled fish fillet tacos (not battered and fried). Service is fast considering the average in tulum. The vibe is nothing special though

Fantastic spot to be catered to on the beach. Staff was excellent and the food was FANTASTIC. We were stuck on Mango margaritas 🍹 and downed about 10 as a couple. Family friendly. There was $ miminum if you chose the beach side service. It included a cushioned setup with umbrella. I have included a pic of my family with the restaurant behind them. Very decorative and tranquil. The actual restaurant is a beautiful walk thru to the beach but you can certainly opt to stay in the restaurant without the minimum $ requirement. I believe it was a $58 U.S. for the beach. Not disappointed at all. There are a few vendors that walk the beach offering their goods but were respectful when you said "no thank you" or waived them off. Nice merchandise though. Necklaces, cover ups, coconut man, etc... If you have been to Cancun, you understand 😁. Great Spot.

Seafood restaurant
Los Aguachiles in Tulum is a must-visit seafood haven that captures the essence of casual dining with friends and family. The restaurant's vibrant interior, adorned with bright colors and lively decorations, creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Known for its unique take on traditional Mexican dishes, particularly aguachiles, this spot offers an array of tantalizing options from both land and sea.
I was in this place for dinner during my stay in Tulum. If you want to enjoy real food and very good prices this is the place. I had tuna salad, ceviche and octopus and the forth dish I don’t remember and flan for desert.Everything was delicious. Worth every penny. On the top the service was great as well.

This place was amazing! We had the best tacos, and every variation we tried was a 10/10. We even had some fresh oysters, and they were delicious. We didn’t even realise it’s a small chain (or maybe they just have a few restaurants — we saw one in Playa del Carmen too). Anyway, I 100% recommend!

Weird this place has bad reviews - the food is pretty incredible and I got an insight to their attention to detail and pride in the restaurant when I saw them wiping clean each of the sauce bottle caps. The wonderful tuna taco was incredible and the shrimps amazing. Highly recommend

If you like ahi tuna or sushi, don’t miss the “wonderful tuna” tostada!! The corn cake for dessert was unique and tasty as well, & we always love the rock n’ roll shrimp!

This was the best food we ate in Mexico hands down: fine dining, street tacos, this place beat them all. The menu is extensive so we asked the waiters to recommend their favourites and we where glad we did as we had some items we wouldn’t have tried otherwise. The vibe is rustic and local which is amazing and they even have some live music which is such a nice touch

Delicious and fresh. Aguachiles verde was excellent and refreshing. We also tried the Ceviche and it was tasty. Nice simple spot, convenient right off the highway. Was not very busy and easy to get a table.

Nestled in the heart of Tulum, Verdant stands out as a premier destination for those seeking an authentic and eco-conscious dining experience. This charming restaurant specializes in delectable, health-focused meals that cater to both vegetarian and vegan palates. With a unique blend of contemporary Mexican cuisine infused with pre-Hispanic flavors and French culinary techniques, every dish is a celebration of local ingredients sourced directly from their rooftop garden.
Place for foodies and one of the best meals of my travels, over 35 countries. We got lucky and had local red snapper and local shrimp on the tasting menu. Be prepared for raw fish and rare-cooked shrimp preparations. Menu changes daily and only tasting is available, we didn’t even look at the menu. 1450 pesos per person. The red snapper sashimi was just a flavor explosion. The poached red snapper has a sauce made from dried fish bones, so amazing, it tasted like lobster. Great work and well worth the $$

The only option that was available was the tasting menu. From the reviews I had my hopes high. The options on the menu catered for both carnivores and herbivores, and that they pride on organic ingredients with a garden in the back of the restaurant, so that was a real plus. Unfortunately every dish failed to hit the mark. There were no depth of flavour and seemed kind of bland. Overall I left after the experience feeling kinda short changed especially with the price point and the average dishes we had. That said, I do love the concept and hope these guys do well, there is definitely potential here.

If I had my own restaurant this would be my vision. Their 20+ raised beds provide a large portion of their needs and are fun to walk through and have a photo shoot in. The openness of the restaurant is inviting and casual with views of the kitchen and alluring smells wafting your way. All the dishes are thoughtful, balanced, immaculate, and delicious. Their menu caters to the carnivore through to the vegan with an adventurous intentionality so everyone is deliciously content with their meal. The staff were extremely attentive, polite, and elevated the whole experience. The cocktails and mocktails all paired extremely well and were exquisitely crafted. 13/10 would go back. Well done Ben & Maya.

We have been totally stunned by that place. It was definitely one of our favorite spots downtown. We’ve had amazing dinner here with even more welcoming and attentive staff. Our table was directly beneath the kitchen so we could basically watch our food being prepared. The food is just delicious and so uniquely creative! Also the location is romantic and overlooking their own herb and eve table garden. We even loved the music selection :) PS: we’ve been there in February and I’m just seeing that they are temporarily closed - fingers crossed they will open again as you don’t want to miss out on that experience!
Alissia W — Google review
We went on a recommendation from a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Everything that they serve is grown either at the restaurant or their farm, an authentic farm to table experience. Dinner is served as a tasting menu style and the menu changes everyday depending on what fresh new picked that day. It’s tough to even a favorite because we liked every dish we got. I highly recommend trying Verdant when you travel to Tulum.
Evelyn M — Google review
What an experience. Go for the incredible literal farm to table experience and stay for the hospitality and the gorgeous gardens and cocktails. We had a delicious evening and would easily call this one of the best restaurants in the world. Increíble comida y ambiente. No se la pierdan!

Excellent drinks and food! Take your taste buds on an adventure with the multiple layers of flavors and ingredients that make each dish unique. Keep in mind the dishes are almost Tapas style so you'll want to order more than one plate. Just watch out because each plate is better than the next. Kudos to Maya and the chefs!

A lot of love has been put into every aspect of the restaurant, and the warmth is felt throughout the place. Lovely romantic dinner setting with creative dishes overlooking a vegetable and herb garden. Highly recommend ✨

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Laguna de Kaan Luum. Not quite as popular as Burrito Amor, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Bodies of Water
Laguna de Kaan Luum is a breathtaking natural wonder located just a short drive from Tulum, making it an essential stop for any traveler in the area. This stunning lagoon features crystal-clear turquoise waters that gently transition to emerald green, surrounding a deep cenote at its center that plunges 80 meters down. The unique round shape of the lagoon, framed by lush jungle foliage, creates an idyllic setting perfect for relaxation and exploration.
Great place to spend the day. You can bring your food or buy some snacks and drinks there too. They do not allow sunscreen and ask you to remove it at the entrance. I suggest you to be protected with hat and long sleeve shirt. Beautiful water and enjoyable atmosphere. Super recommend this place!
Susana S — Google review
Laguna Kaan Luum is a stunning and peaceful lagoon just a short drive from Tulum. The shallow, turquoise waters are perfect for swimming, and the deep cenote in the center creates a beautiful contrast — it’s truly a sight to see. There are docks, hammocks, and swings that add to the relaxing vibe and offer great photo opportunities. The entrance fee is around \$17 USD for foreigners, and while it’s a bit more than other spots, the calm atmosphere and natural beauty make it worth every peso. Go early to avoid crowds, bring biodegradable sunscreen, and enjoy one of Tulum’s best hidden gems.
David C — Google review
Absolutely stunning spot! Definitely a must-visit and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Best on a sunny day for the full colors, and weekdays are less crowded. Plenty of space and great photo ops. The bar by the deck serves drinks, cocktails, fruit, and more — the cold coconut was super refreshing. Easy access from the main road and clean restrooms.
Luiz B — Google review
This Laguna is a great spot to go swimming! We came after a long and hot walk through the nearby Tulum ruins, so it felt especially refreshing. The Laguna is only a few minutes of walking away from the parking lot. There is a nice observation tower to look at the shift between shallow and deep water. Regular swimmers are limited to the shallow area on the outskirts of the Laguna (which is very expansive) while divers with equipment are allowed to go to the deep center. In the shallow areas are various swings, hammocks, photo opportunities, and even volleyball nets (bring your own ball). We spent a few hours relaxing in the water and soaking up the sun. The ticket is 300 pesos per person and parking is free (need a small tip).
Lily B — Google review
The lagoon is very kid-friendly—not deep at all, which made it perfect for my daughter to enjoy safely. It’s also very clean and surrounded by beautiful scenery. I definitely recommend this place for families looking for a relaxing and fun spot to visit!
Dalila R — Google review
This is a must if you are visiting Tulum or Riviera Maya, absolutely stunning! Gorgeous place surrounded by nature. The lagoon water is crystal clear and warm and shallow unless you go to the middle of the lagoon but they wont let you pass for safety reasons. Only a short drive from Tulum, around 15 minutes. Price is about $300 pesos unless you are a Mexican national with INE $200 and cheaper if you are a local or senior. Hidden gem.
David M — Google review
Cool place - unfortunately it was torrentially raining when we visited but we enjoyed it anyway. Bit expensive to get in (300 pesos) but could easily spend an afternoon here if you wanted. We took a collectivo from tulum centre to get here and it cost 100 pesos per person one way (expensive). It dropped us off at the side of the road and we had to walk 15 mins down a dirt rocky path to get to the entrance. (Better if you go by car or scooter etc). Would recommend this lagoon on a sunny day :)
Emma S — Google review
I’ve traveled all over the world, and I can honestly say Laguna de Kaan Luum has the strangest and most unfriendly rules I’ve ever experienced. They literally check your bag and force you to leave your sunscreen in the car, then make you take a shower even if you already arrived showered and with no sunscreen applied. This makes absolutely no sense — especially in August in Tulum, when the sun is at its harshest and protecting your skin is essential. As a travel content creator, I explained that I wasn’t even planning to swim. I only wanted to take some photos and videos to promote their place, but I was still not allowed to bring sunscreen with me. Their justification was “to protect the water,” yet I made it clear I wasn’t going to use it at that time. Meanwhile, they have no concern whatsoever about the health and safety of visitors who are left exposed to the aggressive sun. My sensitive Slavic skin ended up burning badly in just a few minutes while filming, and I had to spend money on medication afterwards. The entrance fee is 300 pesos per person which included parking. On top of that, they charge content creators an additional 250 pesos just to use a drone, which is absurd. Places should be grateful for professionals like me who create high-quality content and share it with the world, essentially giving them free promotion. Their priorities are completely backwards: they obsess over hypothetical sunscreen contamination, yet disregard the real well-being of people visiting. Truly disappointing with the rules even though the lagoon itself was beautiful.

Restaurant
La Guarida is a hidden gem in Tulum, offering a quirky and cultural atmosphere away from the giant resorts. The venue features many rooms with different vibes, making it an ideal spot for conversation and creation. The decor exudes an old Havana feel with vintage records and loungy spots. It's popular among underground artists and those who appreciate their work. The ambiance is described as super hippy with a downtown vibe, offering great food, affordable prices, and a fun atmosphere to relax in.
Super bar and restaurant with a real authentic, quirky and chill vibe. We were lucky to go there on a night when they had live music. Brilliant band, awesome songs and great energy. The food was sensational. Very tasty beef tenderloin and the cheese board is a must. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere in Tulum. Great place!!

La Guardia – a true highlight in Tulum! Right in the center, yet still very affordable for locals and visitors alike. We had excellent steaks here, enjoyed several margaritas on the balcony – simply perfect. In fact, we came here every day during the last three days of our stay in Tulum because it just convinced us so much. Beer is only 50 pesos, the main dishes are outstanding, and even with the most expensive option you won’t spend more than €15. For Tulum, that’s unbeatable! I can only recommend it to everyone: don’t waste your money on overpriced tourist spots – come here for real Mexican vibes. The rooftop terrace as well as the lower floors are just incredible. Definitely a must-try! 🌮🥩🍹
Luca B — Google review
This venue in Tulum regularly hosts small concerts across different areas, which creates a nice atmosphere. The vibe inside is generally pleasant, and the staff on the floor are friendly. Service can be a little slow, but still acceptable considering the crowd. However, the entrance experience is extremely disappointing. The front-door staff enforce rules that feel excessive for a simple bar in Tulum: bag checks, body searches, and even asking scooter or motorcycle riders to leave their helmets on the ground at the entrance — without proper supervision. This raises two concerns: • Either the venue is not safe at all, which would justify such procedures but makes it unsuitable as a place to relax, • Or the venue is actually safe, and in that case, these entry conditions are completely unnecessary and unwelcoming. In Tulum, there are countless bars and live music spots that are far more welcoming, enjoyable, and customer-friendly. For that reason, I do not recommend this place, and suggest exploring other venues where the experience will be much more positive.
Ronan R — Google review
It has such a cool, laid back vibe. It feels like a hidden creative space with vintage touches, cozy corners, and great music. The crowd is a mix of locals and travelers, the staff are super friendly, and the whole place just feels real and full of character, a nice break from the beach-club scene.
Imroz S — Google review
This place is awesome. So many unique spots and rooms to hang out in, including a variety of spots on the rooftop, all while enjoying music and drinks. Prices are good and the vibe is really enjoyable. Highly recommend!

La Guarida is a hidden gem in Tulum! This bar has such a cool, laid-back vibe with a hint of mystery. The drinks and wine were excellent, and while the menu is simple, everything we tried was absolutely delicious and responsibly priced—perfect for a chill night out without breaking the bank. One of the best parts? There are board games available, and the space itself feels like a “choose your own adventure” story. With so many hidden rooms and cozy corners, you can really make the night your own. Definitely a place I’d come back to—whether for a relaxed drink or a night of exploring with friends.

Service and food was very good. Busy unique place. Dinning in the tree canopy in tulum. Highly recommend this place. Steak was amazing, chicken was very good! Best of all, we sat beside the owner...Missy cat

The atmosphere of the place was one of the best I've experienced in Mexico. I highly recommend visiting during sunset or in the evening. The food was very delicious; we tried the mussels, chicken, and salmon. Each dish was great, but the portions were quite small, so we didn’t feel full and had to order fries afterward. It’s good to be aware of this beforehand. Still, if you’re looking for a romantic setting, this place is absolutely wonderful!

Panna e Cioccolato is a popular gelato shop in Tulum, offering rich and flavorful gelato that allows the natural ingredients to shine. Their fruity flavors like guava, coconut, and passion fruit are highly recommended. The small shop has a few chairs outside for seating, and their affordable prices make it a great spot to enjoy delicious ice cream while watching the crowds.
Fantastic ice cream. Came back the next night because we were so amazed by the unique coffee flavour ice cream that we needed to come back to have it again. Pistachio was so good too and didn’t have that artificial taste to it.

Tulum Tours - Mexico Kan Tours - Eco Tours Riviera Maya offers a variety of tours that focus on historical landmarks, nature exploration, culinary experiences, and cultural immersion. The company is known for its commitment to nature conservation and responsible tourism. One of their popular tours includes a day-long excursion to Sian Kaan, where visitors can take a boat tour from Tulum to Punta Allen.
Absolutely incredible experience with Mexico Kan Tours! The entire team was outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. From start to finish, the guides made sure we felt looked after and informed, providing detailed insights that really enhanced the trip. Two standout tours for me were the Cenote Adventure with the amazing Jessica—so fun and full of energy—and the Sian Ka’an expedition with Miguel and Macarena, who were simply fantastic. I’m not a confident swimmer, but Miguel went out of his way to make me feel safe and comfortable in the water, even encouraging me to snorkel. I’m so glad I did—it was unforgettable! We got to see manatees, dolphins, and even crocodiles in their natural habitat. The whole experience was magical. I couldn’t recommend Mexico Kan Tours more highly—professional, passionate, and simply the best. You’re in great hands with them!

I did another tour with Mexico Kan Tours back in 2018 and had an amazing time - so I knew I wanted to return to this tour company again for this trip and they did not disappoint. For this one, we traveled with Paloma and Arturo was our driver for the day and the trip was just awesome. A nice small intimate group. Paloma was super knowledgeable and shared so much amazing information throughout the time in Coba about the Mayan people, followed by leading us on an epic adventure to see spider monkeys, howler monkeys, zip lining, canoeing, jumping 7 ft into a cenote and a delightful homemade lunch with a local family. The perfect day. So many memories and an amazing experience. The vibes were chill and easy going. Arturo was an awesome driver on some tough terrain. I look forward to returning again in the future.

We loved the casual flow of the Tulum Ruins and Sian Ka’an Muyil tour. We walking around the Tulum ruins and learned about the Mayan civilization. It was early enough the weather wasn’t too hot to enjoy walking around the site. We also went to the newly built museum. The artifacts were well displayed and informative. It was nice to see the carvings and stonework up close since the ruins are closed off to public access. The float through Muyil was refreshing and relaxing. We saw fish, birds, floral and fauna. Miguel was very knowledgeable and friendly. He always made sure everyone had enough time to enjoy the experience and was comfortable. He was constantly checking if we needed food or water.

We went on two tours & both were incredible. The Sian Ka'an tour was stunning & the wildlife - manatees & dolphins interacting with eachother up close was incredible. We also saw huge green turtles & a crocodile. The three Cenotes tour was also amazing & all Cenotes had either no other tourists or very few so it felt really serene. Our tour guide PALOMA who was clearly passionate about Mayan history & culture made the experience magical. Transport was easy & simple, with pickup from our hotel & food & fresh cold drinks were delicious. I'd highly recommend.
Lowri P — Google review
Such an amazing tour company, highly recommend using them for any tour in the area. The focus on sustainability and treating the area and native species with care was incredibly appreciated. We toured Sian Ka’An with them, and saw Manatees, Dolphins, Crocodiles, Sea Turtles, Sharks and Sting Rays, all while learning about the importance of the mangroves to the Mayan culture and the local biosphere. The company employs the best guides, knowledgeable and friendly. Some tours can feel stuffy, this was an incredibly collaborative experience and I really would book again just to learn more with the guides we had.

2 friends and I went on both Si’an Kaan tour and a cenote tour. Both were absolutely excellent. Guides Iber and Macarena were knowledgeable, drivers were super efficient and helpful, and both definitely felt e tours off the beaten path. Guides made the effort to adjust the trip for weather conditions and timed our visits to coincide with as few other visitors as possible. I will definitely be returning to Tulum and adventuring with Mexico Kan tours again!

Our Sian Ka’an tour with Pablo was an unforgettable adventure! Pablo’s expertise and warm, friendly demeanor made the experience truly special. His deep knowledge of the ecosystem brought the UNESCO World Heritage Site to life as we cruised through its stunning lagoons and mangroves. On the boat tour, we were thrilled to spot manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, and majestic eagles soaring above—each sighting more breathtaking than the last. Pablo’s enthusiasm and insights made every moment engaging and educational. The highlight was swimming in the crystal-clear waters, a pristine paradise that felt like a dream. The tour was well-organized, immersive, and perfect for nature lovers. Pablo’s passion for conservation and his ability to connect with guests made this a standout experience. I highly recommend Mexican Kan Tours with Pablo for an awe-inspiring journey into nature’s wonders!

Mexican restaurant
Taqueria Honorio started as a modest street stall and has now become a bustling taco restaurant. It is highly recommended by locals for its specialty in Yucatan dishes such as cochinita pibil, lechon al horno, and poc chuc. The family-run establishment offers a no-frills dining experience with seating at small bars and long tables under tents.
When going on our tour, we were welcomed into this place with open arms. Me and my family, were seated down immediately and we got our food very quickly. The workers here also make the place more enjoyable, they were all very nice and pleasant to be around ☺️. Our food was very good and not very expensive. Definitely a must come if you want to eat delicious food!

Take a long cold shower before you go to this restaurant. Go in shorts, sandals and a muscle shirt. Very hot in this place but the fans do help some... Food is great. Very tasty. Good prices. Might be the best place in town. Even tourist go to this restaurant. Chilaquiles are deli deli!! Had to tell the lady that sits the people down that there were unoccupied tables because it seemed like she didn't see them. No biggie though.

We really enjoyed our visit to Taquería Honoria. Our hotel recommended that we visit and we are so glad we did. The food was delicious and it was great to try so many different tacos. We’d been reading reviews about how good a crisp Mexican Coca Cola could be, so we chose two of those to complement our meal. One of the highlights was the beef torta, so flavourful and tender. We finished off with the flan which was great. We also really enjoyed being able to watch the staff assemble the tacos.
Holly C — Google review
Excellent! This is a down-to-earth, casual place open to the air and the street. Customers seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists. The food is magnificent. For $22 (including tip) we got cochinita pibil (marinated pulled pork), a Mexican snack plate with pork cracklings, pico de gallo and tortillas, another different taco, and two aguas frescas (mine was tamarind, very refreshing). The gluten-free corn tortillas were the best tortillas we have ever had. With tortillas like that, I wouldn't miss flour. Why have we never had such good corn tortillas in the US?! They were too hot to touch when first delivered, and they held up perfectly, even with loads of juicy pork inside. There was so much food at our brunch, we both agreed we would not need to eat again before evening. Everything was fresh, beautiful, and delicious.

The lechón dish was delicious. The skin was crisp and meat was tender. We did not like the skirt steak torta. The skirt steak comes with grilled cactus which was not advertised on the menu and added an unexpected tartness. The bread was very soggy and it needed more filling.

Must try local place. The food is tasty and inexpensive. We had the chilaquiles with chicken and eggs and a latte and it was scrumptious. We also got super lucky and got seated right away, but plan on waiting around 15-20 minutes. Definitely a must try!

Great food and packed with locals as well as some tourists. They had a variety of meats that were available in various forms (taco, salbute, torta, quesadilla) or served as a plate with tortillas. There is also a vegetarian options. I ended up getting a taco and a quesadilla. Both were delicious. Was just the right amount of food for me with no leftovers. Food comes out quickly. Place is cash only, but it's very affordable.

This is the best place for tacos in all of Tulum! I cannot say much more than that. Just get there early. Otherwise, when they run out of food, all you get is the leftovers. Lol. Even the leftovers are good! Seriously the best tacos in town!

Spanish flavors in a central location 🇪🇸 La Gloria de Don Pepe is well located and offers classic Spanish dishes. Overall, the food is average — not the best Spanish cuisine I’ve had, but definitely not bad. The tapas and tostadas de jamón serrano are the highlight and worth trying. A decent option if you’re craving Spanish food in the area. 🍷🥖

Sophia and her colleagues did a great job! We highly recommend this place. It is not cheap. However, it has the best paella you can get anywhere in Tulum!

Such a quaint little restaurant. We make a point of enjoying the food here every time we are in Tulum. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. The paella is definitely worth the wait!
Danger M — Google review
Excellent food and a very kind staff! The paella was delicious! It was fun to sit on the outside on the sidewalk. I love that they don’t put too much sugar in the agua de Jamaica! Most places make it too sweet. This place is a lovely little spot to eat. Good anti pasta too!

Looking for paella 🥘? Here is the right place in town. I ordered fish & shrimp paella and it was so delicious. We ordered garlic shrimp too No spicy for the kids and mistakenly brought us spicy but they nicely replaced it for us which was super taste. For Paella in the menu cost about $220 per person but the minimum order is for two people which means it cost $440. I highly recommend this place.
Hussain A — Google review
Delicious food particularly the paella! Salad was nothing spectacular but also very good. Service was attentive and the place was busy. Visited on a Saturday night. Was seated immediately. Outside seating is noisy due to its proximity to the street and other restaurants but not so loud that conversation is an issue. Would return for the paella in a heartbeat.

Tulum Food Trucks is a popular spot for beachside dining, located across the street from La Zebra. The area features five food trucks offering a variety of cuisines such as tacos, pizza, paninis, fajitas, and poke bowls at affordable prices compared to the resorts. Additionally, visitors can capture trendy photos with a giant head statue that has become an iconic attraction in Tulum.
Hands down the best, chill place we have been to while visiting Tulum. The staff is incredible and goes out of your way to make you feel at home. The food is great! We found this hidden gem by accident, on day 1 of us arriving in town, and have eaten here every day since. We have had steak tacos, chicken fajita tacos, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, steak tacos, pastor tacos, and chicken wings! You can not go wrong with anything on their menu. My husband loves the Tulum Lager, and they have been making me a coffee drink (not sure of the name), but it is soooo good! They have such a cool, laid-back atmosphere with music, and they even have large Jenga games set up on some of the tables. If you are in the area, you must stop here. You will not be disappointed!

A great chill spot! The drinks were spectacular and the tuneada (tuna salad) was delicious and refreshing, especially with the heat. So good we came back to have it again!

Was a great find! Teena and I hung out, played board games and jenga while enjoying our dinner. They made great mocktails and were super friendly. Our server spoke English which was great as we know beginner Spanish only. Had 2 cervezas, mocktail, a bottle water plate of tacos, burger / fries, and cerviche for about $55 CAD. Prices don’t include tip (some places add it on) so be sure to leave for tip.

Best place in Tulum for Ceviche or Garnachas The service was excellent and the vibe really impecable 🔥🍴

Hands down the best tacos I have ever eaten at at just 17 pesos each they are an absolute bargain. The tacos are so simple and well seasoned, the meat does the talking. Drinks from the bar are well made and well priced. They have a good hookah too.
T S — Google review
Bumped into this place by accident and it was a blast! We had a pizza @ Unicorn Pizza, Scott was so nice and kind - let us choose all the toppings we wanted, made the pizza from scratch in a real stone-oven. The price was very good - 180mxn for the whole pizza. It's also half close half open in case it's rainy.
Boaz Y — Google review
The main reason I came here was because I could find options for chicken - although limited. (The adjacent taqueria did not serve any.) Look, the place has a nice chill vibe to it but it's more of a place to enjoy with your friends rather than a "must visit eatery". Food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Although when good food is stupidly expensive in Tulum, 17 pesos for one taco seemed like a good bargain. On some nights, they have a live DJ, on some nights you have karaoke. As of now, there is a taco stand, a sausage stand, and a bar with burgers. I was hoping for more food trucks though. There used to be a pizza one but that guy has closed shop. Tables are well laid out, service was friendly and hookah is available. They are open until late (1 am) and closed on Tuesday's. Bring cash.
Sim M — Google review
Great atmosphere, especially at night. They've created a cozy and welcoming outdoor environment. Good food options including tacos and some killer pizza, and a great bar with fun staff. There was a local band with an amazing, energetic vocalist the night I was here, followed by karaoke! Overall a really good experience and a great place to hang out with a few drinks in some tasty snacks.

Pizza Papi is a 100% plant-based pizzeria that is located on the main road in town. The pizzas, pasta, salads, and desserts here are all delicious and affordable. The owner is a friendly guy who knows his recipes well, and the vibe at Pizza Papi is fantastic - perfect for a fire experience.
Rodrigo and Maggie were super kind, the place has a lovely vibe, music was on point and the food is delicious, me and my boyfriend had the garlic knots with Marinara sauce and chili oil, plus the Supreme Pizza on a gluten free crust which was very crispy and delicious. A friend had the same pizza with regular crust 🍕🍕 We also tried a lemonade that was delicious, they have a variety of mocktails too! Definitely 💯 recommended 💪🏼🤩😻 They’re pet friendly 🫶🏼

•April 2023• The Margherita pizza was simply tasty in all the right ways. The crust was so crispy and delicious! Ordered a side of chilli sauce for dipping and was a little spicy but more flavourful than spicy. The eating area in the back is beautiful with lots of little details to admire.

What a fire experience. The margarita pizza was super good with garlic and vegan cheese on it. I don’t ever like gluten free pizza, but they did it perfectly. The escabecha was also great with this magical hummus. The cocktails and music (vibe) are fantastic. The owner is such a good guy and knows his recipes creation well.. I came here multiple times and will recommend to everyone visiting Tulum.

Super yummy pizza, one of the best crusts I’ve ever had. The toppings are all pretty unique which makes it exciting to try more. The atmosphere is really cozy and chill, and the seating is very comfortable. Also the staff was very friendly and chatted with me for a bit, which I appreciated.

Just such a cool spot to hang out at. Super friendly people, speakers giving you the best of indie sound which is just so right, lovely backgarden and relaxed atmosphere. Ah, and the pizza is amazing and drinks are delicious too. Finally a spot with a proper aperol spritz. Especially noteworthy, the menu is small but has everything you need even if you don't want one of their fine pizzas. The place is all vegan but is not too explicit about it, which I like as it may also attract non vegans too. They should, I loved it.

I’ve been here twice. The mocktails are to die for! Seriously, they’re soooooo good! We went back the second time because I couldn’t stop thinking about my drink all week! Lol Delicious vegan food, unique options (coconut on my pizza!!??), great service… we just love this place!

Our family of 4 ate here for dinner. I am vegan so my family often eats vegan food with me. They had cute swings at the front table where we sat. We ordered the margarita pizza, the Supreme pizza and the pesto pasta. It was delicious. The Supreme pizza and pesto were highlights! I will absolutely be returning to Pizza Papi next time I am in Tulum. Thank you!

Batey Mojito and Guarapo Bar is a vibrant venue in Tulum that offers a lively atmosphere, local bites, and an array of cocktails. The bar features a beer garden where patrons can savor their famous mojitos made with freshly pressed sugarcane juice or enjoy other unique flavors like cucumber basil and passionfruit. In addition to its refreshing drinks, Batey also serves up delicious shrimp burritos that are a hit among visitors.
Batey was the place where we hung out almost every evening during our Tulum vacation. They have a good selection of local food and beverages that mostly come with their signature sugar cane wedge. I recommend it from the bottom of my heart for those who are looking for a place to cool down and chill out during the day and want to get a sense of the local nightlife during evening. We wanted to avoid loud techno parties but still wanted to have some fun and Batey was exactly that sweetspot. Every evening there is live music, both local vibes and international covers. One evening there was a flamenco band boh playing and dancing! A few times there were some guys jamming some local rhythms during the day. The service was awesome 👌 everyone always smiling and ready to crack a joke. During the earlier hours there were some people working with laptops too, so I presume that it's a good place for it. I can't recommend this place enough!!!
Norbert S — Google review
If they hadn’t tried to scam us I would give this place five stars. It is a really fun great atmosphere with live music and the food and drinks were delicious and very reasonably priced. The problem was that when the bill came they had added up the total to almost double what we had. And when we addressed it, they clearly knew they had done it and didn’t even apologise. This happened to us in a few places in tulum where totals weren’t added up correctly, but this time was ridiculous - trying to charge us 1540 for an 890 bill!!!

This is the place to go to in Tulum! Food and atmosphere is quaint, quirky, and fun with lively rustic beats. Live musicians makes it a memorable night. Food is generous and delicious! Great mohitos and passion fruit version is the best!

Excellente tacos and the Guarapo's were amazingly delicious all the way down to the sugar cane. Very reasonable prices and quality service.

Everything was great about this place! I’m from out of town & they were showing NBA/sports game which is what attracted me. Highly recommend!!
Jiselle C — Google review
We came to Batey 3 times during our week long stay and as a couple/group of foodies from NYC, that says a lot about the quality ! Very fresh, very authentic and very affordable (just was a nice change of pace in comparison to the restaurants/bars/clubs that are closer to the beach strip!) I’m honestly not a big fan of mojitos but I was convinced to try one and ended up having 3! That fresh sugar cane added such a nice touch to the flavor profile! The shrimp tacos were literally amazing, I swear I could’ve ate them everyday and been satisfied! The live entertainment was cool and added an interest level to keep our table engaged and ultimately there longer. On our last day as we were headed to the airport, we stopped in for a quick lunch where I got a Michelada and MAN! Top notch, definitely was a great way to end our vacation. 10/10 highly recommend!
Meg G — Google review
Very nice place, but a bit pricey, MX$150 per Mojito.
Clemens H — Google review
I really loved this place. The cocktails are great and it's so cool that they press the cane sugar sticks directly from their own machine. There are many concerts, and the atmosphere is so chill. The waitress was also so nice. We came here a dozen times and all of ours friends also loved the place. The food is also super good and comes as a decent price. I can only recommand this place, it respects the nice aspects of Tulum, it's welcoming and there are more foreigners than locals, all bars around are empty but Batey Mojito is always full of clients and for good reasons

Akuma Tiger Sushi is a popular sushi spot in Tulum, conveniently located near Avenida Tulum. Visitors rave about the exceptional customer service provided by the friendly and welcoming staff. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and offers inventive, fresh, and flavorful dishes.
Lovely chilled atmosphere and setting. Sushi was delicious. Gluten free items clearly marked on the menu and staff helpful. Brought us gluten free soy sauce (tamari) when asked

This is one of the best sushi we had in the long time. The place is very ambient and cool and the service is excellent. We had nori tuna tacos for starters, their famous salmon sahimi and hamachi special rolls with truffle mayo. They also have great selection of beers and awesome drinks. The fish quality is superb and the rice on the rolls is the premium quality which you can definitely taste. This is definitely a great place to visit for sushi while in Tulum, highly recommend it !!

Lovely atmosphere and service, and the food was amazing. Prices were a bit expensive for Tulum, but was definitely worth it. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant is outdoors, giving a jungly vibe. I didn’t have to wait for a table, and have been here several times. Definitely going back and would recommend for a night out!

First time here and we throughly enjoyed the service, servers were quick taking the orders, very knowledgeable on the ingredients in the dishes. The food was fantastic with different flavors exploding in our mouths!! Prices very reasonable! Great place and we will be back!!!

Wonderful food and staff. Taste was balance and never overpowering. Tranquil atmosphere with tasteful music that's broadcasted at a pleasant volume. Staff was very knowledgeable on the dishes and drinks that were served. Bravo to the Chef and Team. One of the top Sushi restaurants in Tulum. Not to be passed by.

Great little sushi spot! The menu was clearly marked for gluten and when I told the server he made suggestions too. They also had gf soy sauce. The rolls were delicious and big-8 pieces per roll. We were hungry and with 2 people, we struggled to finish 3 rolls. And an extra special shout out for friendly and honest service. When my husband gave the server $500 pesos too much he brought it back to him and told him. We would have not realized and he easily could have kept it, but didn't. Super refreshing when you always hear the negative about Tulum restaurants. Give this place a try!

Youth hostel
Che Tulum Hostel & Bar is a vibrant and laid-back accommodation option in Tulum. It stands out as the only hostel in the area with a hot tub, offering a unique experience for guests. The hostel's downtown location provides easy access to popular bars, clubs, markets, and the bus stop. Che Nights are a highlight, featuring Argentinian barbecue, pizza, beer pong tournaments, and karaoke.
Che Hostel was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was fun, friendly, and super welcoming. Special shoutout to Angie, David, and Jero — they truly made my stay amazing. They always had great energy, hosted fun activities every day and night, and made sure everyone felt included and had a great time. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests. The rest of the staff was just as awesome — always helpful and smiling. The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the common areas made it easy to meet new people. If you’re looking for a place with a social vibe, fun events, and top-notch staff, Che Hostel is the place to be. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Enjoyed my time here, rooms were refreshingly cold so nice to not feel the heat. I enjoyed all the facilities apart from the kitchen, it felt really dirty and although it got cleaned by the cleaner - I feel like it’s due a new kitchen or very deep clean. The fridges smell and people leave their dishes unwashed.
Harry P — Google review
The staff there is wonderful. They host nice activities and are very friendly. You will feel welcome there. The pool & hammock as well as the whole outdoor area is very nice. You have to take care of the mosquitos though (which is a problem in all of Tulum). In the rooms you have your own curtains, lights and power outlets. There are big lockers under the bed aswell. One thing that I'm not very happy about is the cleaning. For example: There were hairs on the wall of the shower when I arrived and they were still there when I left. You can rent a bike there for 150 pesos/day, which is a good way of getting around Tulum.
Sabrina — Google review
Really hated my stay here. Main problem was the air conditioning in our dorm. Our room was so hot and when we asked the girl on reception to make the room colder nothing was done. We asked twice and she didn’t bother coming up to the room. The room was too hot to get any sleep. The next day when we mentioned it to a different staff member she said she’d check it and turns it was broken this whole time. We eventually got changed into another dorm but had two nights of terrible sleep. Location isn’t great and there isn’t much to do.
Shauna L — Google review
Great staff , Luca, Uli, Cristian, Brayan, Guille and Eva were great . We got good recommendation from Uli really nice girl and great animation from Luca , 100% would stay there again . 💫 Only down side is some of the lockers in the room need love
Shanna R — Google review
That one star is for the staff and reception area. They are helpful and try to get things going. I paid for 4 nights but left the hostel today as ig was a nightmare for me. There were people smoking marijuana just outside our dorm and smell got inside. No smoking signs everywhere. Washrooms in the dorm and outside are dirty (see photos for yourself). The social life in the hostel is mehhh. Didn’t meet anyone and I am social butterfly in general. The only reason you should stay here is if you are really on budget, if you can afford slightly more, pick any other place.
Yonark B — Google review
Unfortunately, the AC was broken in our room and after asking twice we were told it was being changed and then that it can only be changed at a certain time. The following day we asked again and told them it was broken and were moved room. We suspected they knew already and we got 2 bad nights of sleep. My friend struggles with a health condition affecting temperature regulation and so reliable AC was really important to us which was not delivered as advertised. On checkout, the staff member was quite rude to us and did not acknowledge the disruption caused to us which was very disappointing. Would not recommend if reliable AC is important to you
Liam B — Google review
Great for Solo Travelers Hostel Che was perfect for a solo traveler looking for a social vibe with some extra comfort. I stayed in a private room that felt like a mini loft—with a desk, bookshelf, mounted TV, en suite bathroom with hot water, an L-sofa and bean bag for guests, and hammocks right outside my door. The location is super convenient—walking distance to a bank with a reliable ATM, a 7/11, two great cafés, a pharmacy, and a street taco spot so good and clean that a group of us ended up there almost every night. The hostel runs daily social events like cenote tours, dinners, and drinking games. Angie, the social coordinator, was incredible—warm, welcoming, and even got us on a guest list for a local techno party, which became a trip highlight. Staff were energetic, helpful, and spoke great English. Uli, JJ, and Jorge were my go-to people for anything I needed. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a mix of comfort, convenience, and connection.

El Capitan is a popular seafood restaurant in Tulum, known for its delicious offerings and great service. Located along the main road Avenida Coba, it's a must-visit spot for seafood lovers. The flagship restaurant offers a variety of dishes, with their specialty being shrimp tacos and ceviche. Visitors also praise the fresh seafood soup and whole yellow snapper prepared by the chef.
Excellent food and service! A great alternative to fancy touristy places surrounding it and a favorite among the locals. Ceviche was phenomenal. Grilled fish was pretty amazing too! We come back every time we visit Tulum
Irina K — Google review
✅ Positives: Affordable prices, the ceviche was fresh and delicious — the medium size was huge and filling. Drinks were amazing, especially the tamarindo juice and paloma cocktail. ❌ Negative: Street musicians and sellers might approach your table. If you’re not interested, politely decline and they may insist a bit. 🤷 OK: Simple ambience and cleanliness. Overall great spot for tasty and traditional mexican food with drinks at a good price
Luiz B — Google review
I visited here 4 years ago as recommended as the best spot for a cold beer and food after a days diving. Back now I’m pleased to say El Capitan has not changed. It is still the best place for cold beer and food. Tulum has changed a lot in 4 years but El Capitan has not even the prices!!!! That is best thing as everywhere now wants to fancy, this place is traditional. Same friendly staff that clearly enjoy working here. Definitely worth a visit for local hospitality and food.

I ate at this spot three times. The shrimp ceviche was outstanding and very fulfilling. The whole fried Snapper was good also. I tried the black beans which were ok. Use the white sauce that comes with the chips and salsa on your salad, it’s really tasty!
Jimmay M — Google review
Oh man this place has the best house sauce for ceviche. We went twice and ordered the micro ceviche twice. Can’t get enough of it😆. The seafood and rice is way too salty but their taco, oh man, you have to try their fish taco. The texture and taste is just on point. The only issue with this place is just the mosquitos.
Christina W — Google review
Guys, it was "fine". You don't need to go out of your way to eat here. We ordered 2 of the seafood platters for 5 adults. There's plenty of food and no one left hungry. Everything just tasted of old oil though. This is not a good example of "fried seafood". The shrimp ceviche comes out warm. Not room temperature, but cooked. Eh, it was edible but I'd likely try somewhere else.

Car rental agency
America Car Rental in Tulum is praised for its transparent pricing and quick vehicle checkout and return. Customers appreciate the better pricing compared to competitors and the comprehensive insurance coverage included. However, there are concerns about the accuracy of the inventory listed on their website, with some customers warning that reserved cars may not be available upon arrival. Despite this, a positive experience was reported with Diego from America Car Rental, who provided excellent service by bringing a clean, new car as requested.
Amazing service and very quick for pick up and drop off , I had rented a 15 pax van and over all clean in side and out side and when I needed assistance they were quick to act .

I had an excellent experience. The customer service team was incredibly friendly and informative, making the entire process simple and easy to follow. The car was in great condition and I didn’t have any issues during my rental. When I returned the car, they even offered me a complimentary ride to the ADO bus terminal, which was such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend for a smooth, stress-free experience!

I had a very pleasant experience with America Car Rental. I did a brief comparison with near by places and they offer compatible, if not better rates. Our agent, Victor, explained what was covered and not covered with the insurance and offered additional coverage but was not pushy about it. Our car met our expectations, it was clean and ready for pick up at the scheduled time. I think it took no more than 15 minutes at pick up and dropped off. I had it for 4 days and it really helped us maximize our time in Tulum. Super friendly and helpful service, I really recommend them.

Great and easy rental experience with no issues at all. The only surprise was that, even though we booked through Expedia, they placed a $2,800 hold on our card upon arrival as a security deposit. It added a bit of stress. Overall experience was great, and the hold was released quickly upon return . The staff were friendly, professional, and made the entire process easy.

The vehicle was clean and ready when we arrived. It was in great shape. Attentive and friendly customer service. They helped us extend the car another day with no issue. The price is the best we found in tulum. I would recommend this place to a friend.

We had a very good experience with this rent-a-car. The process of getting the car was fast and I didn't get bothered with additional insurance, like other places do. The car worked just fine and returning it went well and fast too. I'd recommend them any time.

The restaurant features a charming open-air palapa design adorned with swings, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests.
Such a delightful experience! I read about this place on a recent article online and SO HAPPY I followed the recommendation to eat here. The tacos were SO delicious, full of flavor and perfect portions. I ordered the asada, grilled chicken and cochinita pebil tacos, they were all SO GOOD! And all the salsas were also a great tasty spicy addition to tacos. The horchata and flan are also so good! Wonderful service from the young lady there. Everyone was so nice and great music playing on TV screens, in a very open outdoor setting. I absolutely loved this local eatery and give it two thumbs way up👍🏻👍🏻

Great service, they supplied complimentary snacks while we had 2 for one cocktails. It was a great experience it wasn’t busy so the atmosphere was less but the host did a great job and making up for it he supplied us with free shots and with some peer pressure he did one with us. Would definitely recommend! They have some very cool swing seats on the tables

We had a fabulous meal. Steak & shrimp dishes were excellent. Enrique was very good with suggestions for our meals and in spot when it came to service. We felt this meal Was a good value. Definitely, a place we would go back to.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yaax Ik, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and the staff were incredibly welcoming. I must give a special shoutout to Manager who went above and beyond to make our meal memorable. Their recommendations were spot on, and their service was top-notch. It's clear that they are passionate about what they do, and their dedication to ensuring a fantastic dining experience for their guests truly shines through. Now, let's talk about the food. It was absolutely delicious! Each dish was well-portioned and bursting with flavor. From the appetizers to the main course, every bite was a delight to the taste buds. Overall, I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

My wife and I ate here twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. Best ceviche I had during our 14 days in Mexico. Very reasonably priced and great service.
Justin H — Google review
This is one of the best bar/restaurant we visited in Tulum. The first place that we did not get the “tip recommendation” on the bill :) and the service was brilliant and super friendly. The bartender Jesus made us amazing cocktails, ask him for “special cocktail” 😍The food was also excellent.
Anett K — Google review
We tried the mixed ceviche and the Mayan plate, both were amazing! The ceviche was super fresh. The staff is super friendly and the drinks are also amazing!

Really excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Would highly recommend all the dishes we ordered: pumpkin seeds, onions and tomatoes; guacamole; cochinita pibil and chicken cochinita; shrimp and potato crepe; and skirt steak burrito. Luis Bodoque was great! A gem in Tulum.

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Tulum pueblo, Sabor de Mar is a charming family-run seafood restaurant that promises an unforgettable culinary experience. Known for its exquisite presentation and fresh ingredients, this gem serves up a delightful array of gourmet fish and shellfish dishes. Highlights include the tantalizing tuna sashimi and impressive seafood towers adorned with avocado and seaweed, all resting on a bed of flavorful salsa or broth.
Amazing Seafood & Chill Vibe at Sabor de Mar! We had a fantastic meal at Sabor de Mar in Tulum! The seafood is incredibly fresh, and the seafood towers are outstanding—loaded with flavor and beautifully presented. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and quick. The restaurant has a nice, relaxed open-air atmosphere, making it a great spot to unwind and enjoy a good meal. It’s also very kid-friendly, which made it even better for our family. Located just a street or two off the main strip, it’s a perfect place to escape the crowds while still being close to everything. Highly recommend! We’d eat here all the time if we could!

The food was excellent. Everything was tasty. Service was fast. Compared to other seafood restaurants in Tulum i think they are the best from taste wise and also price. They accept cards. The only thing i dont like is that they do not have free filtered water. Whats up with that.
T A — Google review
Firstly, the atmosphere and the service are great. It's an open patio with a covering that looks very appropriate. The tortillas and tacos are great, a little different from the offer commonly found in other restaurants. The fish soup and desserts and also great experiences. The fish towers are a fun concept, but get boring fast unless you're sharing it with a couple people.

Really cute little restaurant. Juan was a terrific server. I had a marlin taco as well as a shrimp taco. Both were good, but the Marlin taco, Baja style, was really outstanding. I have guests coming to visit me soon, so I was trying out different restaurants. We will definitely be returning.

Oh my goooooodness, I just had the MOST DELICIOUS ceviche that I have truly ever eaten - and I love ceviche, so I've tried a lot. The tuna ceviche at Sabor de Mar was almost a religious experience. The sauce that it was in was incredible!!! I ate it with a spoon like soup at the end. I couldn't Not. I don't even know what else to say other than "OMG" and "Wow!" So, if you like ceviche, please go try it. I've also heard from several friends who eat here regularly, that their fish tacos are the Best! The staff are great! The Agua de Pepino con Limon was also delicioso. Go, eat, sigh with delight. 😋😍

Cool, shady, delicious food, friendly servers - HIGHLY recommend!! I knew I wanted seafood while in Tulum and I was so happy I came here. The tower was incredible.

If you’re craving true Sinaloa-style seafood, this place is the real deal. From shrimp, octopus, and fish tacos to cocktails and ceviche, everything is spot on — but the standout for me is the red aguachile. It’s not for everyone: raw shrimp in lime juice with chiltepín peppers (extremely hot), onion, and avocado — nothing else needed for one of Sinaloa’s most iconic dishes. Bold, intense, and perfectly executed. Not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it.
JM — Google review
The deep fried shrimp tacos were incredible the first time we had them, unique and packed with flavour. This was a 10/10. We liked them so much we went back a second time, but unfortunately they were overcooked. The shrimp burrito was okay. Skip the burrito and get the tacos, but make sure to tell them to cook it properly so the taco shells aren't like rocks and you will not be disappointed.

Tacos y Tortas El Tío

Taco restaurant
Mexican torta restaurant
Tacos y Tortas El Tío is a popular street vendor located at the intersection of Avenida Tulum and Calle Geminis Sur in Tulum Center. This budget-friendly spot offers delicious tacos, tortas, and gringas. The al pastor tacos are particularly recommended, with the meat always being freshly heated on the spot. Despite limited seating (only 5 chairs around the countertop), it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Found this place randomly when walking through Tulum. Highly recommended! There was a lot of people so we had to try it. Service was fast and the tacos and the tortas we tried were amazing. Best tacos we tried in Mexico for sure. Don’t miss it!

Fantastic tacos and very good staff I accidentally gave too much cash to the guy taking my order and he was honest enough to give it all back The food was clean and flavourful. I suggest adding a bit of lime and maybe one of their three sauces they have available (this parts DIY) It’s such a vibe to sit on the street corner and eat it all up too English isn’t that strong here so be prepared to play a bit of charades. The staff were patient and happy to work with us though

Such an amazing experience to sit at this cart. We had the pastor tacos, they were possibly the best tacos we’ve had in Mexico. It’s such a vibe to indulge in super cheap and amazing tacos on the side of the road with the locals. 10/10 everyone has to come here don’t be scared

Right next to OXXO. My personal favourite after going there 4 times is chorizo!

Absolutely love this place! Their food is the best seasoned one I have tried in Mexico. Since I don't really eat meat, except chicken, I loved their chickens gringas - the chicken was cut to very small pieces which I liked a lot. The staff is very nice as well. And they also have limonada de pepino (cucumber lemonade), so make sure to grab one.
Cyntia P — Google review
Honestly not the best al pastor tacos I’ve ever had - tacos were mid - but I guess a good price.
Michelle V — Google review
in terms of street food, this is my favourite. it’s always packed and the waiting time is sometimes very long (we once waited up to 30min - worth it though). if they’re busy taking orders you kinda need to make your way through the front and place your order (there’s not a line for ordering). great deal (5 pastor tacos for MXN50).

Delicious and cheap tacos, 8 tacos costs less than a cocktail on the beachfront!! If you want quick and good authentic tacos, El Tio’s your place!!

Vivo is a stunningly decorated and airy restaurant in Tulum that offers vegan and vegetarian cuisine. The food and drink was also delicious, with great attention to detail paid to the environment. It's an amazing place to eat, with a very natural vibe.
If you are looking for excellent vegetarian and vegan food, this is the place. Right on the main strip, the restaurant is charming and open air. We enjoyed talking to our waiter Mauro about the past and future of Tulum. Fair pricing and friendly staff. The drinks were amazing as well.

A very warm and loving environment, Angel welcomes you into this beautiful space. A dog friendly oasis in downtown Tulum. The perfect hangover recovery breakfast spinach crêpes are my favorite or açai bowls. If you’re feeling under the weather, they have elixir options for healing. The community also is host to various yoga classes.

What an incredible restaurant! The best vegan food I’ve ever had in Mexico! The place is absolutely stunning and picturesque, with such a positive vibe. The owner goes out of their way to add a personal touch for every customer. The risotto is packed with flavor, and their guacamole is so fresh and delicious! They also host various events daily, and you can even rent bikes or ATVs without needing to leave a security deposit. Truly an unforgettable experience!

This spot was the perfect place for my partner and I after working out at the Tulum Jungle Gym Pueblo which took about 8 minutes to get to on an ATV. Angel greeted us so warmly and took great care of us. The ambiance of the space is beautiful. I especially love the copal burning in the background. The food tasted exceptionally fresh and great quality. I got the spinach crepe with a hot almond matcha while my partner ordered chilaquiles and passion fruit juice. It only took about 10 minutes for our food to get to us since there was only one other guest in the restaurant. Next door there is a beautiful yoga and pole studio I cannot wait to visit next time after nourishing my body at Vivo!

Love, love, love this place. It has a chill open-air vibe, great service, and wonderful food. Being both vegan and gluten-free can be difficult when traveling. I hit the jackpot with Vivo and the most excellent service from Diego is icing on my Tulum experience cake. ❣️

This restaurant is not vegan. I wish I could write a different review but this restaurant labels almost all items as vegan when they are actually serving you animal products. I’m glad I checked review before ordering because I asked before ordering the omelette and learned they were offering me organic or not organic eggs — but neither are vegan egg substitute. This was something reviews had mentioned 1 year ago, and it’s unfortunate to see the restaurant has still not adjusted. The menu does not mention anywhere that non-vegan (animal) eggs are even an option so many customers have probably come and assumed they were getting vegan food. The server checked with the kitchen and confirmed other items like toast were available without the egg, but not much else. Egg substitute will return in one or two weeks they say — but if you’re vegan, I would suggest that you try another place or ask questions before accidentally getting eggs or cheese that are animal products. I hope the ownership here updates the menu and advertising to not mislead customers. Products that have an egg or a vegan egg option should be labeled this way rather than letting people believe they’re getting vegan items.

Very cosy place. The staff is extremely friendly and they make you feel at home. They recommended the veggie/vegan burger to eat and it was one of the best burgers I had in my life. The kitchen is extremely clean as well! If you like a good cocktail you are at the right place! We will definitely come back here!
