Breakfast restaurant
Pelicanos is a waterfront restaurant in Puerto Morelos that celebrates the culinary heritage of Mexico with its authentic seafood dishes. The family-owned establishment offers a shaded patio where diners can savor fresh seafood prepared in various styles while enjoying views of the Caribbean. Additionally, Pelicanos provides four-hour excursions that include fishing and snorkeling, followed by cooking the catch at the restaurant.
If you’re trying to figure out where to eat in Puerto Morales look no further. This is the best food I have had in all of Mexico so far. Ceviche is to die for. Pro tip: get the coconut shrimps. Thank me later 🫶

Food was very good, ceviches are highly recommended as well as the calamari, rib eye was very nice as well; service was attentive and the views of the sea are priceless! Furniture is not comfortable though. Kitchen closes at 9pm. Desserts are good, the guayaba cheesecake was delicious!

Drink is really good, and that what they deserve a good note about. Food was not tasty at all. All sauce was too much spicy, not little. They do not give normal sauce without strong spicy. Vibe is Latina with open areas close to the beach. It adds on the vibe. The presentation is good. Service is just correct. I recommend it only for the drink.
ED L — Google review
Excellent food. Atmosphere problem is that people on the beach plays their music so you have 4 different songs at the same time, mixed with the music of the restaurant. En general good experience, amazing service.
Alejandro M — Google review
Food is really good. They are located in the main part of the town, directly on the beach. You can have a nice view of the water and palm trees!

Excellent customer service. Nice view, very convenient (enjoy the ocean and have some food and drinks).

The original Puerto Morelos restaurant, fishing and great service. We signed up for deep sea fishing and our captain was one of the family who owns it! Thanks Abraham. After fishing he prepared our fish in 5 different ways and checked on us multiple times.

The restaurant features stunning interior decor with beautiful wall designs and abundant greenery. Located in front of the main city garden, it offers international flavors influenced by Mexican cuisine. Best breakfast value in town. Food was excellent and was prepared properly. Delicious way to start your day in paradise. Decor was very tropical and made the experience outstanding.

Great food & ambience! We can recommend the huevos rancheros & the yoghurt bowl! Excellent flavors. The coffee was too watery & lacked flavor :)
Dunja O — Google review
For the eggs Benedict they let me get one of one kind and one of another. So I got one of ham and one of spinach. The ham was better but both were good. I wish the spinach one had goat cheese I think it would’ve really made it. The eggs Benedict sauce had a lot of lime/lemon but it was still good. There was no ac here but the restaurant itself was very cute. My partner got the pesto sandwich and he said he doesn’t like goat cheese but still thought it was good. We spent $440 for 2 entrees and a drink.
Sheriff N — Google review
My husband and I spent a week in Puerto Morelos and had breakfast at El Nicho twice. Both experiences were fantastic. From the moment we walked in, a server greeted us with a smile and asked where we wanted to sit. They were quick to take our order and to bring our coffees and the freshest freshly squeezed orange juice I've ever had! Food was quick to come out, and was hot and delicious. The toast is also homemade bread - so good! Wish we had discovered this spot early in our trip so we could have gone more often. Highly recommend!
Erica S — Google review
To start off, our stay was 7 days. We had El Nicho for 4/7 days. That just shows how good of a spot this is. The waiters are friendly, and they accommodate as much as they can! I recommend the Belgian waffles and their house potatoes as well as the guava azul! If you like eggs and hollandaise, definitely get the Benny. It was very delicious.

Close to the beach, this place has a nice breezy upstairs. Soft shell crab tacos & guacamole were yummy. Buñuelos with chocolate treat at the end was AMAZING!

We ordered [Enchildas Suizas] and [Torta de milanesa picante]. The food was magnificent and the live saxophone made a lovely ambient. We shared an [Apple tart], it was soft and not too sweet. We very much enjoyed the food, ambient and service.

Mediterranean restaurant
Catering food and drink supplier
Event venue
Nestled in front of the iconic Puerto Morelos lighthouse, La Sirena is a vibrant restaurant and lounge that offers an eclectic culinary experience. With a menu featuring everything from mini sliders to barbecue pulled pork, there's something for everyone. For Mediterranean enthusiasts, chef Anthony Chalas brings authentic Greek flavors to life with dishes like homemade hummus and the refreshing Athena salad adorned with feta and kalamata olives.
We went to La Sirena for dinner on the last night of our vacation and we loved it! We would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The stunning view of the water during sunset is hard to beat, and on top of that the food and drinks are amazing! I would also like to add that Robyn, our server, was great. He was extremely kind and attentive. Always making sure we had what we needed.

Excellent service by Frankie! Food was wonderful and delicious. Loved the ceviche! Thursday night was a live jazz band which drew a nice crowd, great time with friends, perfect atmosphere- we were on the rooftop.

What a beautiful spot! Hubby and I went here for my birthday- eve supper and had such a wonderful experience. When we were asked where we wanted to sit, I asked for rooftop, but said I was concerned it was going to rain as it had been thundering most of the evening. The hostess assured us it wasn't going to rain (and it didn't! Always trust the locals!). We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio to have table- side, my husband ordered the lamb shank and I had the chicken souvlaki. Everything was delicious! And the service was outstanding. I wish I remembered to grab our waiter's name- he was remarkable. I mentioned in passing what a lovely birthday eve dinner it was and he said, oh, it's your birthday, good to know. At the end of our meal he came out with a delightful surprise dessert, while all the patrons sang Happy Birthday! What an experience! We stayed for a few more drinks to watch the flamenco show as well. I honestly cannot recommend La Sirena enough. Everyone was polite, the food and drinks were terrific, and the atmosphere is one of the best port side.
Erica S — Google review
Excellent Greek food! We ordered a Greek salad, an Octopus dish and a shrimp pasta dish. Food was seasoned and cooked to perfection, vast menu with lots of great options. Sat on the rooftop, had great views of the water. A live band started not long before we left, they sounded amazing!

The picture says it all—this place is outstanding. The staff is warm and attentive, the food is consistently excellent, and it has become our go-to spot every time we visit Puerto Morelos. If you’re in town, make sure to stop by, you won’t regret it.

Glad we found this place. They have good variety. We ordered lamb, lamb burger (GF), grilled Octopus. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. And you can enjoy the food with beautiful sea views.

I’ve had 2 delicious meals at La Sirena. The spanikopita app was great. As was the Village Chicken and my dive buddy had the Lamb Shank, which she loved. We begin each meal with a perfect Aperol Spritz!

UPDATE: The owner and staff more than made up for the cancellation of our 20th anniversary rooftop dinner reservation After posting a very negative review following the cancellation of our rooftop reservation, the owner, Anthony, contacted us and explained what happened, apologized, and generously offered us complimentary tickets to the rooftop Day of the Dead performance which we gladly accepted. The dancers were professionals and the performance was amazing. It was a wonderful tribute to Mexican culture. For dinner m, we ordered the calamari, grouper, and lion fish and the food was superb. Our drinks were fantastic too. It was all around the best dining experience we had in Puerto Morelos. That’s why I was so upset with the changed of prior plans for our anniversary because I knew it would be something special. But it even exceeded my previous expectations. Anthony and his staff have a wonderful restaurant and they provided exceptional service. It wasn’t just for us following the issue - you could tell they valued their customers. I’m glad to admit I was wrong in my previous review and highly recommend La Sirena for a finer, yet not pretentious, dining experience in Puerto Morelos. The prices were reasonable given the superior quality of the food and drinks. We’ll happily return when we next visit! Muchas gracias, Anthony and staff at La Sirena!

Faro Inclinado, the iconic leaning lighthouse of Puerto Morelos, is a must-see landmark that tells a story of resilience and history. Constructed in 1946 from Mayan stones, this charming structure stands at 33 feet tall. It became famous after Hurricane Beulah struck in 1967, tilting its foundation but ultimately making it an enduring symbol of strength for the community. Today, Faro Inclinado attracts countless visitors eager to capture its unique angle in photographs and on postcards.
Very nice little town and shopping and dining area by the water.

Great beach for swimming Went with Coopertiva (located 1 block inland from the lighthouse) on snorkeling tour to the reef, and highly recommend them. We spent much longer on reef than with the fancy big name companies but be aware that they use Pongas for boats and have to get your feet wet launching from beach. Bring your own snack and beverages and wear a swim shirt as sunscreen is not allowed. Seriously please do not wear sunscreen as the coral is already stressed and dying in many places. Snorkeling for 4 for $100, would have been $400 with the bigger operators.

La Pepita, a recommended establishment by a Hertz representative, offers an ideal brunch spot for those seeking a quick and hassle-free dining experience upon arrival. Though the restaurant may not possess the same level of elegance as its beachfront counterparts, it compensates with delectable fare available at reasonable prices. The service provided is amicable and efficient, ensuring a pleasant visit every time.
Great food, great service. We showed up at the same time a large birthday party was getting seated. The service was a bit slow and food came out in stages. This was not an issue for us we are on vacation right no hurries, no worries. The food was worth the wait. The atmosphere is great and super family friendly.

Wonderful dinner there with our little girls. We ordered the fish a la diabla , coconut shrimp and the hamburger. It was wonderful. Really tasty and affordable. They also had a little playground for kids , it was a great addition for our girls. They kept busy while waiting for the food. The waiter we had was very nice.

This is a block or two away from the more tourist focused center of town. Always helps if you attempt Spanish with the locals, one of whom pointed us to this restaurant. The grouper (chef selection fish) was decent; however, the tuna tostada and fried shrimp tacos were truly amazing. Solid beer selection. Our waiter was nice enough to call us a cab.

Absolutely fantastic food - we’ve travelled the world and this is honestly the best meal we’ve ever eaten!!! Diego and team were incredibly welcoming and accommodating :) the inside area opens up in to a really beautiful and romantic dining area with palm trees, there are swings at the bar and the cocktails are fantastic. It’s also very very well priced generally but for the quality of food, it’s a bargain! Don’t go to the touristy restaurants on the beach or nearby - this is THE BEST in town if not in Mexico.
John C — Google review
The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately I was disappointed in the food (more of what I ordered possibly). I had been wanting fried fish for several days and came upon this nice place. I also look at reviews and pictures and saw beautiful fillets of fried fish. So I asked about the breaded fish and was told it was fired and recommended the red sea bass. I ordered it and it was not what I expected. It was a very large (Country breaded steak patty). It was dry and tarter sauce is not available. Rice and fries also were disappointing. The chips and trimmings were nice. Give it a try, but do not order what I did.

Amazing food! We loved everything from the complementary tortilla chips that were wholegrain and the best we had the entire trip, to the red paprika dip they brought, to the fresh ceviche. Amazing food, and the prices were fair too.

This place is incredible!! We caught a few snapper and a grouper, brought them over to Chef Max to cook for us, And WOW!! Crunchy, packed with flavor and falling off the bone! Best fish I've ever had. The fresh juices they make are 💯💯💯 as well! The mango-passionfruit juice is a must. We're definitely coming back to try their regular menu next time we're in town!

Wow. This place is incredible. Peninsula sets the standard for what Mexican cuisine, especially seafood, should be. We have traveled in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Merida, and many other places and this restaurant was one of my favorite spots we have been. The chef, Max, personally greeted us and gave recommendations (black ceviche and tuna tostadas - highly recommend both). We started with some mezcalitas on their 2 for 1 deal and they know how to make a very good drink. The black ceviche was delicious and the esquites were fantastic as well. I LOVED the tuna tostadas. As I told Max, his food is not only beautiful but also delicious. It’s what a culinary experience should be. We loved this restaurant so much we came back the next night for live music on the rooftop. It was a chill, laid back vibe with a guitarist playing and it is exactly the atmosphere I love for the perfect evening with drinks and food. We tried some flavored mezcalitas and the Caribbean ceviche that had mango - again, some of the most amazing seafood I’ve had in Puerto Morelos, and most of Mexico too. Huuuge portion too for the price. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the server who took care of us on the rooftop that evening but he was so exceptional and really went above and beyond. I would recommend Peninsula to anyone looking for an upscale but relaxed atmosphere with the best food in Puerto Morelos. We will be back EVERY time we visit - thank you Max and all your wonderful staff!

So good we broke our rule to never eat anywhere twice on vacation! Excellent atmosphere, amazing service, and easily the best “elevated” Mexican food weve had in Quintana Roo. I personally recommend the black ceviche and the Peninsula tacos! We will be sure to come back next time we are in Puerto!

Stumbled upon this randomly wandering around Puerto Morelos on a rainy day that had us wanting to get out of our resort (Ventus at Marina El Cid- which we LOVE!!) Mojitos (pineapple and mango) were amazing, chips with different salsas given to the table (fresh pineapple salsa was sooo good!) and plantains were great for a dessert- regretting not trying more! So glad we found this, will definitely be back on our next trip down here!

Península Cocina del Sureste in Puerto Morelos offers a delightful fusion of Yucatecan and Caribbean flavors in a charming, relaxed setting. Punta Corcho is a high-end restaurant located in Puerto Morelos, offering a fancy dining experience with beautifully presented dishes. The menu features a variety of Caribbean, Latin, and Mexican food options such as marinated lamb shank and lobster pizza, accompanied by an array of cocktails and wines. Situated close to the ocean, the restaurant provides a great view and accommodating service for both small and large groups.
The food here is simply the best we had during a week split between Cancun and Puerto Morelos. They provided delicious sauces and some free starters, fresh fish sashimi cured in kombu, delicious boquerones from Tulum, and the soft shell crab tacos are incredible. The strawberry crumble with caramel ice cream was rich and full of flavor. We tried several delicious cocktails, and the Kiwi Fashion was unbeatable though the amor eterno was our second favorite. The ambience and views of the town center and beach are wonderful. We're going back tomorrow. 🤌

All of the locals said to go to Punta Corcho. We made reservations and then found out that is Michelin recommended. All of the food and cocktails were fantastic!! The food is delicious. Like many touristy places, the price is expensive. But I have to say, they got me hooked on this little drink that tasted like a drop of tropical paradise infused with “don’t forget me.” The flan de elote is a must-try!

Tucked into the fishing village of Puerto Morelos—just 25 minutes south of Cancun—Punta Corcho was a standout meal. Recommended to us by our hotel concierge, Punta Corcho turned out to be the best meal of our trip to Riviera Maya; so much so that we returned for a second round before flying home. It’s a very casual breezy, open-air space with views of the sea just beyond. All the food was really good. The guacamole and ceviche were prepared tableside. Favorites were the soft shell crab tacos, shrimp aguachile, and the octopus gorditas. Everything was beautifully plated.

Mar-Bella Fish Market in Puerto Morelos is a unique restaurant where there's no fixed menu. Instead, diners choose their fish or seafood from the chalkboard and specify how they want it prepared. The availability of dishes depends on the morning's catch by local fishermen. Fresh clams are a highlight and can be enjoyed with lime or various salsas. The staff, such as Andrea and Irma, provide excellent service without being pushy, offering helpful suggestions for choices.
Everyone says it’s hard to order here because you choose the fish and then how it’s prepared which can be confusing, but just show them this photo and say bring me this!! If you don’t want a big platter just choose a few things off the platter… (could have fed 6, there were 4 of us and was $$$) skip the bacon shrimp and risotto here, all the rest is wonderful! Or just order fish breaded with panko (2nd pic of the next visit) and the Chinese rice with seafood chunks. Amazing! Then try the crispy crepe filled with chocolate, mango & strawberries with ice cream to share.

Beautiful location! NO PRICES on the menu ….. be sure and ask questions FIRST. Also make sure you’re ready to spend some money. This location was very pretty. It had some great views and was easy to get to from the main thoroughfare in town. When we arrived, we were seated almost immediately, which was great. We had our two boys with us and we were open to try lots of different types of seafood….. and we did. We ordered clams , oysters, and steak. In general, the food was good. The steak was cooked a little more than I like, but the meat quality was low. The claims were hit with the kiddos. My wife did enjoy her food. She said it was definitely solid 4 star. In general, I would say I would give it a 3 1/2 to 4 star I went ahead and gave the restaurant a four star because of the atmosphere. The one place I was disappointed in was when our waiter at the end came to us and said that it was mandatory we tip him a certain amount. He basically tried to tell us that we had to over tip him….. we want to give him a very good tip because he had done a good job, but he got pretty aggressive. I’m guessing because it was slower that day and he probably needed the extra money. I definitely didn’t feel. He handled it well and really left a sour taste in our mouth after the entire experience. If you’re looking to visit this cute town, this is definitely a good option, but please be warned. There is no minimum tip that is ever required and their food is very pricey.

The venue is right by the water and has a nice view. However we ordered fish for 3 people and paid 2X what we would normally pay at similar restaurants along the coast. The food was OK, nothing to write home about. They also got our order wrong (Spanish is not our 1st language) but they worked hard to fix it and offered a complimentary dessert. We probably wont go back or recommend it.

The food here is incredible. The views and atmosphere are also wonderful. I had the most delicious shrimp tacos I've ever had. This is a fantastic spot for lunch if you want a relaxing seaside view, good food and drinks. Highly recommend. I'm giving this a 4 star because the server messed up two of our orders, and in my opinion it was overpriced. That being said, pay attention to which fish you are ordering off the board because some are local, but others are imported. I accidentally ordered something imported, which could have been why my bill was so high. ~$100 CAD for shrimp tacos, crab (imported) and two beers. Prices aside I would still return because the food was so good, I didn't mind paying a bit more for my meal.

We ordered a medio kilo of grilled octopus to share and a tuna tostada, and everything was absolutely delicious. The pulpo was incredibly tender, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. What surprised us most was the pricing—it was much more reasonable than we initially expected for such high-quality seafood. If you're looking for fresh, well-prepared seafood, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Good food & Good taste. Good location and style. Vibe is normal, but its beachfront so it adds on the vibe. Good service, but they insist on receiving the exact 10% typical tips, not 8% they ask for 10% and make remark about it. Outside that little tings, everything was good.
ED L — Google review
I ordered the octopus (Pulpo Marbella). It was the worse octopus I’ve ever had. Not fresh at all, very dry and chewy, most likely frozen. My wife ordered the Arroz Caribeño with only Shrimp and lobster. Flavor wise it

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with El Merkadito, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Multi Plaza Puerto Morelos. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

El Merkadito is a well-established beachfront restaurant in Puerto Morelos, offering a seafood-focused menu and a relaxed atmosphere. Situated right on the beach with a terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea, it provides an idyllic setting for a memorable dining experience. The restaurant is housed in a large building constructed in 1979 and is known for its Caribbean-style seafood dishes served with rice and salad.
If you're in Puerto Morelos, don't miss El Merkadito! This spot offers some of the freshest and most delicious seafood around — everything we tried was flavorful and perfectly prepared. The ceviche was especially outstanding! Pair it with one of their cold artisan beers for the perfect coastal meal. The service was friendly and attentive from start to finish, and the ocean views from the restaurant are simply stunning. Whether you're looking for a relaxing lunch or a sunset dinner, El Merkadito delivers on every level. Highly recommended!

Honestly maybe the best beef tacos I’ve ever had in my life!! Service was incredible too. Friendly staff, delicious food and a beautiful view, what more could you want? Prices were very reasonable too!! My mom’s salmon tostada was also heavenly. Highly recommend!!

The valet service was good and very helpful. The atmosphere was good, good music, had a live dj for a moment. The service was ok, the drinks was good, French was perfect 👌, cheveche was good and fresh, shrimp was cooked well but the sauce that came with it I didn't like, since I was expecting that curry taste and it was more citrus. The rice was good. Guacamole was presented well, it was fresh.

Loved our lunch here! The tempura shrimp tacos were our favorite. We also saw fresh snapper caught and cooked for other guests. The breeze and view from the sea was amazing. This was by far the best lunch we had while visiting Puerto Morelos

This place offers a large variety of salsas (tamarindo, hibiscus, habanero, fine herbs, etc) to go with their very good seafood! Although, my table really liked the burger as well. We had a kilo catch of the day served with rice and veggies, ceviche, calamari, etc. Everything was good, catch of the day could of been cooked a bit longer. Service was courteous, but they didn't come as often as we wished. Bill came to 500US for 6ppl and a long beautiful afternoon looking at the amazing view! Great place.

Playa Publica puerto morelos

Beach
Playa Publica Puerto Morelos is a serene and laid-back public beach located at the beginning of the Riviera Maya, just a short drive from Cancun International Airport. While the water near the shore may be murky and weedy, there are opportunities for snorkeling with local fishermen to explore the coral reef further out. The beach offers ample space for various activities and boasts calm waters perfect for swimming. Its natural beauty, soft sand, and crystal-clear waters create a tranquil atmosphere ideal for relaxation.
This is our 4th time visiting the area as it is a direct flight from Edmonton, Alberta-a great escape when the winter gets too long.We come here for the wonderful open water swimming as the reef keeps the big waves away. Renting an apartment allows us to purchase fresh seafood and vegetables to prepare. We have done some great outings to Tulum, the cenotes, and other Mayan ruins in the area. We rented bikes and explored the area. You can get around on foot or use local transportation. Love this friendly village and people!
Anne B — Google review
The beach area may have a lot of seaweed however the town itself is super charming, a great combination of architecture, cuisines, tradition and modern lifestyle. The beach area can be walked up and down in an hour or so and the water is beautiful aqua color, aside from the seaweed that seems to be all along this Rivera maya area. In the public beach area you find plenty of fine in options and beach clubs where to grab a drink or stay and eat something. Restaurants are plenty and the same with prices. In general you may find more affordable meals in the beach town than in your resort if you are staying anywhere in the Rivera maya or even Cancun hotels, and if you are adventurous enough you can go back to the main town where most locals live, the colony, and go around those street food vendors or mini restaurants for the real Mexican experience. You will live it like a local! Overall we felt safe, we took the public cans or colectivos from our resort to the bridge of puerto Morelos which is the highway, from there a taxi down to the beach, colectivos or vans are $25 per person, taxis are $40 one way so it is super affordable and you will get to you pay a little less. Tourist take these transportation without hassle seems like. Police and military were patrolling and station at the beach the two times we went and also at the big supermarket in town chadrui. Great people, great sea food and nice stroll! Must visit if you are in the area

Absolutely gorgeous beach with free access to the general public....not many rocks near the shore makes for an easy swim. Bring your Snorkeling gear as there are many coral reefs and wide varieties of fish species....need to go a distance by boat though(many agencies around). Highly recommend!!! :)
Sanket M — Google review
Beach and village is beautiful, water colour and sand and nice restaurants in town. You can hire boat to go for snorkelling in nearby reefs. In the week when we visited many sargasso were in the shoreline so it is the only issue, although it is not only here, the same problem is all around coastline. People try to clean it away but it takes time.
Edith Z — Google review
Great spot for long distance swimming, protected by reef. The sargassum was piled up at the shore but once you swim out it’s not too bad.

I see a beach tractor with rake attached but doesn't seem to be used on beaches very often?? I don't understand why? Should be raked daily! WOULD BE SO... Much more inviting as the beach on both sides of The Lighthouse is beautiful Otherwise. This quaint lil town is a friendly & enjoyable place to visit!

If there is a Heaven on Earth, this beach may just be it. Magic in the air, white coral sands lined with palm trees, aqua Caribbean waters filled with thousands of fish, hundreds of species, coral reefs, restaurants bars and hotels with incredible views of the beach and people from all over the world visiting, staying and living here. I found my loving soulmate here. You might too or come visit with yours and feel the magic.

This was my favorite beach to visit during my 2 week stay in Cancun. The water was always warm and inviting. The people were friendly and stayed away unless you were walking pass the shops. Then they become extremely aggressive and annoying. But overall...it's a cute lil town with an amazing beach. I can hardly wait to go again.

We made a quick stop here in a private shuttle to get some necessities as Air Canada lost our luggage. Nothing fancy but had most of what we needed. Be careful of using your credit card. We went in as a group and 2 of our Visas didn't work but when we went to the hotel gift shop they worked fine.

Interesting grocery store. Unlike the US they have pastry items not behind a case or covered, eggs and shelf stable milk not refrigerated, and store made bbq chicken wings uncovered and at room temperature without a clean way to pick them up. Otherwise a large selection of items including a few American ones. Bring your own bags for groceries. They charge for bags.

We visited this restaurant on recommendation from one of the front desk staff at our resort. They did not lie about how delicious the food is. We had fried fish and fries, the shrimp burger and the whole fried fish. Our waiter Jesus brought out a couple pieces of fish and allowed me to pick which one I liked. I came here twice last week, the restaurant has has very local vibe, mostly local customers. It has a bare sand floor, open concept, wood framed, bar on the side, friendly and attentive staff with a kids play area in the back. They brought nacho chips with a thick Yucatan sauce and fresh salsa for the dip on the side with slices of limon, very tasty. I had catch of the day and seafood tower the second visit, both were tasty however the seafood tower was succulent, tender and delicious, I couldn’t finish it. Everything was great except the regular house margarita I ordered, it was tasteless until I squeezed the limes that were on my table. I should have ordered the premium. I would highly recommend eating here.

A wonderful spot on the Playa. The staff was very nice and the drinks were great. I had been walking up the beach with my exhausted daughter. When we came across the little palapa’s. So inviting to get out of the sun. Only 300 pesos to chill all day with use of their bathroom. We sat and bought some empanadas from a guy walking by. Some of the best food we had that day. I felt fine leaving her there while I walked back to the pier. Where my wife was out snorkeling for the last couple hours. All in all, a really amazing place to chill😎

Animal shelter
Croco Cun Zoo, located north of Puerto Morelos, is an interactive animal rescue zoo with over 400 animals. The 60- to 75-minute tour offers close encounters with various creatures like spider monkeys, rattlesnakes, and crocodiles. Visitors can touch, hold, and feed the animals and even walk among the crocodiles if they're feeling adventurous. The zoo provides educational tours in both English and Spanish and offers feeding opportunities for children.
I love this place. One of the highlights of our trip while we stayed in nearby Puerto Morelos. Glad we finally went after seeing it in years past. The guided tour, offered in Spanish or English, was great. Being able to see, touch, and feed some of the animals up close was fun. Many of the critters have some sort of local connection to the Yucatán. They all appeared to be well cared for. The zoo gives people an opportunity to learn about them in a safe setting.

Excellent attraction! It was a wonderful experience and we learnt so much! We got to walk through a crocodile enclosure, hold a snake, feed some animals and hold a tiny crocodile! The tour lasted about 45 mins which was perfect in the summer heat! There is a small playground at the end and a large gift shop.

Mau is the reason I discovered this bar, he’s a waiter/server here and I meet him last night at the ocean, we shared some Modelos beers and a Cuban cigar that I provided with a couple of his friends. It was a real pleasure meeting him and he made me feel like home here. If you speak English there’s a good chance you’ll become good friends with him since he’s interested in learning the language better (my Spanish definitely improved in a couple of days quite a bit because of Mau). The atmosphere is amazing and right beside the ocean, enough shade for everyone or you can sit in the sun if you prefer. Music Choice here is perfect for vacation between relaxation, chill, upbeat and makes you talkative ❤️.

This is a perfectly laid back spot to hang out on the beach, skipping the all inclusive experience. It is nice to only pay for what you use (we rented chairs and a palapa, had a few drinks). Service was very friendly, drinks were served in glass which makes me nervous on a beach, and we might go back for snorkeling lessons because the lady offering seemed very cool. The pool is shaded and very nice.

We sampled the Tropical Shrimp Ceviche and the guacamole, both were great. We also had the stuffed avocados, but we were disappointed when they arrived stuffed with canned tuna salad. I wouldn't order them again.

This place is not bad but we didn’t have the best experience. We canceled an order however they still added it to our bill. We had insist to take it off our bill and they did. I’m sure it was a mistake

El Pirata Puerto Morelos is a beloved dining destination that truly embodies the essence of comfort food. Under the expert guidance of Chef Karla Romo, who hails from Mexico City, this charming eatery serves up an array of freshly caught seafood and organic dishes. Chef Romo takes pride in sourcing most ingredients directly from her own organic farm along the scenic Ruta de los Cenotes, ensuring each meal bursts with flavor and freshness.
Good love music at night sometimes. Good food and drinks, fair prices. The lobster Alfredo was tasty. Drinks were about $8 and tasted good but not the biggest we had for that price. The quesadillas were very underwhelming. Really enjoy their tables on the street at night.

We ate here a few days ago. The food and service was very good. We had the lime marinaded chicken and the ribs. Both both dishes were cooked to perfection and the ribs came with a delicious bourbon bbq sauce. All great and highly recommended.

We came in fairly late ~9:30pm. It wasn’t busy at this time. Service was outstanding with quick friendly service. Food was great ( we had the chef salad and Caesar salad) and a few drinks. I am very impressed with this place as they went out of their way to be helpful and friendly, which is a nice change from the normal.

Delicious and fun. We loved everything and the little surprises thrown in.

Amazing restaurant, a must try if you’re in the Puerto Morelos area. They were able to accommodate our very large wedding group (30 people!) with a few days notice. They had vegan and vegetarian options and such fresh food. They had live music come in the late evening. Our wait staff Armando and David were absolutely fabulous and they hustled while staying charismatic balancing managing our chaos and needs. Karla the chef checked in with our group multiple times which was a special added touch. The tortilla soup and catch of day were favorites. Note, the best deserts I’ve had in a long time. Try the Gouda flan! Great for kids with burgers, fries, and quesadillas. Spoke great English and had English menus.

Great steaks, burgers, and chicken. Drinks are made well. Staff is well trained and professional. This is a must try when in Puerto Morelos and we return often!

Wow, the best meal I have had in this part of Mexico yet! Really great fajitas and salsas. Our waiter was super friendly, thanks Thomas! And gave us 2 delicious reeses tasting shots after dinner! Definitely will return!!!

Nestled in the charming town of Puerto Morelos, Las Robles is a delightful little café that might easily be overlooked if you’re not in the know. This cozy spot offers a warm atmosphere and an inviting menu filled with scrumptious breakfast options. Guests rave about their delicious dishes, which come generously accompanied by fresh fruit, granola drizzled with honey, refreshing orange juice, and robust coffee.
AMAZING little spot for vegetarians and vegan food with tons of gluten free options. But, trust me! If you are not vegetarian/ vegan, you will still love this place. Besides great coffee, food that is fresh and consistent, they offer a great service. We were waited by Eric a couple of times and he is outstanding at his job! They have both English and Spanish menus and offer Tamales, tacos, sandwiches, enchiladas, tons of breakfast options, and much more! You will not regret it! Para brasileiros Brazilian- aqui tem pamonha doce!!!

We had a couple of smoothies here and they were delicious. Lots of other neat things to purchase like incense, cards and other trinkets. Really funky decor
C S — Google review
I went to Las Robles with two of my friends, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Service took a little longer than usual, however it was a busy morning in the town for eating out, and our other choice would have taken twice as long.
Michael F — Google review
Very overpriced and service was slow. We waited an hour for our food. My pancakes were definitely microwaved and so was my partner’s burger. Everything was pretty bland. The place is pretty cute with nice atmosphere so we didn’t mind waiting so long, but then the food was barely so-so. Served us chips but no salsa. Additionally, they serve breakfast all day, which includes juice. But the server (and menu) failed to mention that juice is only included until 11am. Haha, what? So I was charged an additional 40p for my juice on top of 120p for two pancakes and a little cup of fruit. I appreciate the use of glass straws and I wish the food was better because the cafe itself is very nice. Mostly giving two stars because of atmosphere, I wouldn’t come here again.
Alysia — Google review
This small cafeteria located in Puerto Morelos, offers delicious breakfasts, with good portions, plus all are accompanied by fruit (granola and honey), orange juice and a good coffee. The prices are very affordable. They also have salads, meals and vegetarian options. But if you don’t want to eat they also have a menu of juices and smoothies that are very good. If you are in the area, don't hesitate to stop at Las Robles.

We had breakfast at Las Robles this morning. What a great cafe. The fruit salad was wonderful, the coffee was strong and smooth and the Huevos Rancheros were delicious. I highly recommend you venture out and try them.

Arrecifes suites

4.2

Hotel
Arrecifes Suites is a laid-back hotel that offers studios and suites, all equipped with kitchenettes, as well as a private beach and outdoor pool. The Desire Riviera Maya Resort buffet at Arrecife serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with different theme nights. Situated at the end of the street, it provides a peaceful environment while being just a short walk from restaurants and downtown. Guests can enjoy the nearby beach club for music and food.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel consists of 2 buildings: one at the beach front and another (almost attached to it) on the back with the swimming pool. The private beach access is great, with the right amount of shadow from coconut trees, many beach chairs and even picnic tables on real grass. The pool is of moderate size but enough (and perfect for small kids). 10min walk to the “city centre”. Quiet area. We were in the family room, it was clean and spacious, only feedback would be additional kitchen accessories (very basic).
Thierry D — Google review
We used to stay here for years and the place steadily disintegrated. It has a perfect beach and we stayed because we made friends with other families that would stay for two weeks+. Owner is toxic and she and her brother just don’t care. Constant maintenance issues, cheap everything, insufficient everything. This could have been a perfect place but they insist on horrible service and underinvestment. I can imagine someone stying for two days and being delighted by the beach but if you are staying longer or have a family this is like a very expensive camping.
Erm2030 — Google review
This place is all about location. The front desk was good and the place very clean. BUT... no paper towels or hand bath towels. Also, I was there 4 nights and not once did they empty the garbage in the bathroom ( no toilet paper in toilet) or kitchen. No water pressure as stated in other reviews.
Desiree C — Google review
Great location near the beach. The hotel is dated with simple rooms. There is no elevator in tge building i stayed in.
Robert C — Google review
This place is terrible! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The pictures of the outside online are definitely old because it does not look like this. The rooms are dark, dirty, and dingy. There are no additional towls, no soap (two tiny bottles of shampoo only), and the toilet paper has blue dye in it, which I couldn't use due to allergies. I couldn't stay here and had booked for 4 nights. The owner refuses refunds. If you use expedia, they will tell you to call them even though they know it is up to the property to give refunds. My somewhat saving grace was the policy that said you were entitled to 50% if you had to cancel. They initially tried to refuse anything. I had to copy the policy and threaten to dispute the charge to get the 50% back. The owner is toxic. The only nice thing is that it's near the beach. However, they told us that they didn't have any beach towels available either. They lack basic amenities.
Lacey L — Google review
Fantastic place that has less traffic because it is almost at the end of the street. It's about a 5-10 minute walk on the street or beach to restaurants and the downtown area. There is a beach club a block away with good music and food. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were all amazing and very attentive. Check-in and check-out was very easy. The apartment was cleaned upon request and the hotel staff were all great. The pool and beach areas were great as well and very clean. The buildings are quiet and the apartment was very comfortable. There is a big grocery store in the center of town where you can find almost anything you need. I would most definitely stay again and highly recommend this gem.
Robert S — Google review
All you need, if you do not require highest standards. The only bit we were missing was a hand shower.
KL L — Google review
OK, if tired room, with no view (as expected) in a modern clean block with own small pool area, one street amd 2 minutes walk from the beach. It was comfortable and perfectly acceptable, but in my view over-priced. I would think that the excellent beach access is the reason for the high price. I paid £100+ per night and I think £50 to £70 would be more reasonable for the facilities. It is an easy ten minute walk from the main Plaza and restaurant/bar area, so quiet at night. We were delayed one day due to flight cancellation and no, they would not refund me any of the cost (as per the contract). They were not full so a small refund would have been a nice gesture.

If you find yourself in Puerto Morelos, make sure to stop by Taquería Neza for an unforgettable taco experience. The tacos de pastor are a true highlight, crafted with precision as the chef skillfully slices pork and pineapple right before your eyes, creating a mouthwatering filling that perfectly complements the warm tortillas. This charming spot offers outdoor dining under the stars, where you'll easily spot their vibrant red chairs and tables.
Super fast, inexpensive, and flavorful. Very friendly staff, and an excellent late night option as they're open until 1230am/00:30 Excellent pastor and bistec. Been twice in the last 3 days.

The food was not good. Also, there were so many mosquitos in the place. When you eat your tacos, mosquitos eat you. The food is not worth taking 10 mosquito bites in 10 minutes.

Swim with Dolphins
Delphinus Puerto Morelos is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to dive into the enchanting world of marine mammals. This park offers an array of engaging activities, particularly swimming with dolphins, which stands out as a highlight during your visit to Puerto Morelos. Plan to spend around 3-4 hours here to fully enjoy the experience and take advantage of attractive online discounts if you book in advance.
Great excursion! Picked up in the afternoon and transported quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. Clean bathrooms/ changing area. Free lockers and towels. There is also a nice little snack bar (food and drinks to purchase) and a comfortable seating area to enjoy while waiting.
Alicia O — Google review
The dolphins were great, although I felt like their noses were a little torn up from pushing people out of the water. The pictures are priced outrageous ($50 a photo), and you aren't allowed to take any with your own phone. The staff was nice. Everyone spoke excellent English. They did seem to care about the animals, which is a big deal to me. The water was not clear, like in the pictures, but they have multiple locations. The facilities for showering were clean. All in all I would recommend.
Jessica C — Google review
The experience itself was memorable. However the picture package is highway robbery and spoils it, also considering that no phones/cameras are allowed to take your own images. The package is offered at 274$!!! It was negotiated down to $140 by a girl named Sara. She was supposed to email a payment link that made these images available. I was willing to pay, but the link wasn't sent. When I followed up and contacted the phone number provided during the sales pitch of the pictures, I was given a high price again. The person wouldn't offer the price of 140$ as given during the visit. Spoils the fun.
Birgit H — Google review
I went on this excursion with my two kids on 8/23/25, and overall the experience was wonderful. The price for the three of us was standard, and the dolphin encounter itself was excellent. We were able to touch and swim with the dolphins, and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience even better. One drawback is that you’re not allowed to use your own camera or phone. Instead, a photographer follows you and takes photos throughout the activity. While this is convenient, the price of the photos at the end was absolutely outrageous. Even after trying to negotiate, I felt the cost did not match the value, so I chose not to purchase any. The dolphin experience itself was amazing and worth it, but the photo pricing policy left a negative impression.
Wazir A — Google review
The experience was alright, but I would not do it again. The cost for the actual excursion was already steep, and the photos were absurdly expensive which ultimately ruined it for me. The photos were also very poor quality, and I wouldn't have wanted most of them even with a good price. I ended up purchasing a single photo for $52 USD, and I regret even doing this.
Keelie W — Google review
Great views. We spent about an hour watching the dolphins. It is within walking distance to the resort. Several people were Taking part in swimming with the dolphins this was very exciting.
Sandy M — Google review
Lots of interaction short excursions perfect if you have little ones
Clinton L — Google review
The experience was awesome seeing the dolphins was great. Bring a camera with a good zoom if you are bringing the kiddos as the 2nd pool is about 80 to 100 yards or more and cell phone cameras just won't cut it. They try to sell pictures afterwards, which are very nice, but very pricey. You can negotiate down to a fairly reasonable price. It has a small gift shop and snack bar with liquor if you are into that thing. Good experience.

Ecological park
Jardín Botanico Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marín is a sprawling 160-acre botanical garden, one of the largest in Mexico, showcasing a diverse collection of plants from medicinal to ornamental. Visitors can explore the lush greenery and ancient trees on a jungle trek via boardwalks through mangroves. The garden also features an array of local fauna coexisting in their natural habitat, including spider monkeys, parrots, and crocodiles at the nearby Crococun Zoo.
Loved it. It is more like a walk in the jungle and seeing the native plants and animals. Not really a botanical garden we are used to in Canada. So this was a great surprise and we loved our 2.5 hour stroll.
Tony G — Google review
This was a great place to visit. No it's not like your average Botanical Garden you'd see in other parts of North America, but it was beautiful just the same. Highly recommend.
C S — Google review
Beautiful nature preserve amidst Mayan ruins. In the jungle (use mosquito repellent) and next to the mangroves. Great hike great trail, great viewing platform. And education and conservation minded as well. We loved this experience.
Richard P — Google review
A beautifully curated window into endemic wildlife, as well as the historical practices of the Maya who occupied this land pre-colonization. Can’t believe this isn’t a more popular spot. Any less than stellar reviews are from those who don’t fully appreciate this sort of environment. Stunning trail (with lookout) in addition to the meticulously maintained botanical collections. Great place to learn some local history / botany, but if that’s not your thing, the beautiful scenery is more than enough to justify a trip. Bring bug spray.
Noah G — Google review
Great place to learn about the local plants and the Mayan culture. Not many amenities and most paths feel like hiking trails.
Michael F — Google review
Good place to visit if you are interested in various trees and Maya culture. We came at round 8:15 in the morning and been there for few hours. Seen few monkeys, hummingbird, butterflies and other. We have been on 2 climbing towers. One steel and one wooden one. The hanging bridge was closed. Lots of mosquitoes, be prepared! They have few washrooms with soap and running water. As of Nov 4,2025 the admission fee was 220 per person. Perhaps that’s why there are hardly any visitors around and why I put 4 stars. The staff was friendly
Igor C — Google review
Very interesting. If you’re expecting a manicured royal garden this is going to be a disappointment. It’s pretty rough. But it’s a wonderful walk through a natural jungle like environment. BRING BUG SPRAY or you’ll be eaten alive. Also plenty of water is essential.
Tom C — Google review
A nice walk in the jungle, nothing more than that. The amount of mosquitoes is crazy and makes it really difficult to enjoy the place. We didn't see any animals except iguanas. A ticket costs 220 pesos. Overall, I don't recommend the experience.

One notable aspect is that the food is both affordable and delectable. Louis, who served as our waiter, provided exceptional service during our visit.

Nestled a bit off the beaten path, Playa Jaguar is a hidden gem in Puerto Morelos that promises an unforgettable experience. To reach this delightful spot, you’ll pass through a guard shack, but trust me, the journey is well worth it! With its stunning Caribbean beach setting and tables nestled in the sand beneath an inviting structure, it offers breathtaking views that perfectly complement its exceptional cuisine. The talented chef Fernando crafts dishes that have quickly made this restaurant a favorite among visitors.
Had dinner here on Wednesday afternoon/evening. Best time of the week to come because it’s very quiet, not too many people. Victor and Francisco were so nice. Friendly and great service. Complimentary Shrimp Soup energy shot is tasty. The Mojito is very refreshing. Had the Arrachera Tacos: delicious! Husband had the Shrimp Mezcal and he loved it. Beautiful location and atmosphere. Should have come sooner but will definitely be back. Dog friendly beach and grassy field available. The house dog Ingeniero is a Frisbee pro!

Wonderful restaurant and bar, Playa Jaguar is a little bit hard to get to, but very worth the trip. Playa Jaguar's was a great surprise, and we ended up going back several times over the course of our stay near Puerto Morelos. We have frequented this spot a few times while staying next door at the peaceful Rancho Sak-Ol and I can not say enough about the service or the fare. We love Playa Jaguar. The prices are outweighed by the magic of its entirety. And this is not just the tequila talking. Great food. Wonderful drinks. And amazing people. 6 stars! Forgot to take photos of the food because I was just lost in the brilliance of the presentation. Far to much so to pause for photos. Recommend whole heartedly. Special thanks to our server Max! Your friendliness has really been one of the highlights of our visit.
