History Museums
Abington Park Museum, located in the tranquil Abington Park in Northampton, is housed within a 500-year-old manor and offers an immersive experience into the history of the Northamptonshire Regiment and leather design. The museum showcases a wide array of displays including fine art and archaeological items that highlight the town's rich heritage. Situated conveniently in the heart of Northampton, within Abington Park, it is easily accessible from the town center and surrounding areas.
It's very good and important place
Bodha S — Google review
One of the best parks to spend time as family! We visited a park yesterday, which is a 40-minute drive from us but we didn'tt regret. It's a huge park with two playgrounds for kids, large areas for walking and picnicking, and a small lake. There were two ice cream trucks and a bounce castle, which made my little boy very happy. Across the road, there’s a small museum and a small bird area. Additionally, there's a nice café offering a selection of cakes and food too. This part of the park also features a small stage with live music, a basketball court, a rose garden, a lovely church, and another large park area. My boy enjoyed feeding the squirrels in the park. Parking is a bit tricky but we found a space on road next to park which is for free. The only downside was the toilets. The restrooms near the kids' playground were closed, and the only available facility in the other part of the park was small, old, and dirty. Despite this, I still give the park five stars because it's beautiful and offers so many activities.

Visited Abington Park Museum on a sunny afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. The museum, housed in a beautiful 16th-century manor, offers a fascinating glimpse into Northampton's history, including exhibits on the Northamptonshire Regiment and local life. It's free to enter, making it a great addition to a day out in the park. The surrounding Abington Park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic, with its lakes, aviary, and well-maintained gardens. A lovely spot to relax and soak in some local culture.
TORQue T — Google review
Lovely park and museum (open Sat-Sun) with free entry. Historic building, and the area's history explained with interesting displays and artefacts. Don't miss the lakes, ponds and water tower further into the park. Refresh in the cafe - a little pricey but quality food and drink.
Vanessa L — Google review
Fantastic little free museum in a lovely setting. Only real came to see the history of the Northamptonshire Yeomanry as my Grandad served with them during the war. Parking is on the street but no restrictions. Free to enter. The part on the Yeomanry was expansive and detailed. They also had a part of the house and the park which was interesting too. No shop or cafe but toilets
Ashley L — Google review
A very interesting place for those who want to learn about military history, but not only that, my children were very interested in everything they saw, free entry, whoever wants can donate at the exit.
Sorin P — Google review
Really good afternoon out learning a bit of history of the area plenty to see. It's also free but a donation can be left.
Dave B — Google review
Visited an Arts and crafts fair at the Museum. Lots of unusual crafts but what caught my eye was the stall on the first floor with some unique handmade crafts run by friends and two cousins. "Purely Pastels" by Tracy Rood - exquiste fine art painting and drawings of animals and scenes. "Bootalishous: made from cute Wellington Boots with a plant/flower display in the centre. It's also on a hand carved and laquared log base. A handmade Yoga bag with pockets by cousin Diane. Gift bags filled with unique items. Authentic horseshoes So much to look at...and be inspired by

Bird watching area
Abington Park, the oldest and most renowned park in Northampton, is steeped in history and offers a wide array of attractions. Situated at the top end of Wellingborough road, this picturesque oasis is just a short walk from the town center. Divided into two sections, it boasts a charming cafe, scenic lakes, vibrant flower displays, and an intriguing museum. The park's well-preserved landscape features mature trees and lush greenery that create a tranquil atmosphere.
Absolutely brilliant. Always clean and tidy. With I mean it is. I kept clean and tidy plus usable at all times. The park is split by a road but there is a crossing so it is very safe for your children and dogs and plenty of swings and climbing frames for the children and open space for the dogs to run around. Brilliant.
Tom E — Google review
It’s always a great park to go to, with a nice cafe, the bird cages, the playground and sports areas all available. The grounds are always kept neat and tidy and the park is very nice to walk around. There are large areas of grass to play sports on and there are bookable tennis courts. The playground is very large with a large variety of things to do. The pond area is also very nice.
Daniel M — Google review
Beautiful park with a lovely cafe serving a variety of foods and beverages. They also had a fantastic area of gorgeous birds to see amongst so many other areas to explore!
LomiLoves — Google review
A lovely park with plenty of amusements for the kids, aviaries, a cafe serving drinks light snacks and meals. Live brass bands etc playing in the bandstand on Sunday afternoons in summer. Thoroughly recommended and it's free to enter.
Brian O — Google review
I like this little park as it had a lot of benches to sit. Not too many dog walkers, so anyone scared of dogs can feel free. Nice trees to protect you from the heat on a sunny day. A cafeteria that sells drinks and ice cream
Ghane L — Google review
Parking is always an issue with this location, however I wouldn't want less park in order to create a car park. Very clean park when I went, big kids play area, lovely cafe with toilets which was great!

I'm in a group who meets up for a funday Sunday for the afternoon. We play boules and various other games, too. We always bring snacks and drinks. It is a fantastic end for us at the end of the week.
Adrian M — Google review
We love Abington Park, in any weather it's such a nice place to go. There is so much to say about it... There are two main green spaces/ parks, both with full site maps at the main entrance points if you need to orientate yourself in the first few visits. I did recently notice a new sign for the park run they've set up. The sign was located between the big pond and the football pitch on the path running juxtaposed to the play area path. The running route they've set up is for beginners through to experienced and there are new post markers installed around route (around the football pitch and mini forest) shown on the sign post for distance/route reminders, etc. We tend to walk our dog all over and meet with friends, letting the children explore the winding paths & through the trees. I've never seen so many squirrels in my life in one place, so that's always cute. The big pond is great for wildlife and seeing different birds, we have seen Herons in the smaller pond too. The birds (ducks/geese/swans/Moorhens/seagulls/pigeons, etc) have all been fed too often, so they are really greedy and will approach if you stand still. The boating lake next to the big pond is great if you have remote control boats. In the summer, it also has ride on mini boats and pedalos you have to pay to use. There tends to be a fair in summer near the play area. And you will often see people gather here for parties with tents/pop up gazebos etc, dotted everywhere, so it's really family friendly, and most people you see will talk or smile. You will feel the community spirit for sure if you want to. The play area is great for the kids. They've recently fixed some items (roundabout/landrover, etc) and built a new climbing frame for Littler Littles. Theres something for all ages here! In the warmer months there are usually 2 ice cream trucks parked near the traffic lights near the play area if in need of a yummy treat. Crossing over the traffic lights past the play area and ear the church, youll find the museum/band stand/cafe/toilets/bird walk. The cafe is great if you need a hot / cold drink or little ones fancy some ice cream in any weather - indoor & outdoor seating is available and they also have a nice lunch selection too. It's a little pricey for a quick bite, but it shouldn't put you off if you're not expecting to eat or drink there. The cafe also sells balls/Frisbees/bubbles, etc, so if you're going for a spontaneous visit, it's very handy. Near the cafe is the bird walk, which I think is open through the week, I know it's usually open until around 3 pm on Saturdays but not Sundays, I find. The museum is one place I keep meaning to explore but don't get around to doing, but that looks good. They often have events throughout the year advertised at the traffic light crossing between the two green spaces. There is sometimes a band playing on the band stand but mostly it's empty and the kids can go check it out. Over all its well maintained dog friendly park with lots to do, something for everyone... you'll often see the ground people maintaining it, driving around doing what they do best.

Abbey
Heritage building
Delapré Abbey is a captivating historical site nestled in Northampton, boasting over 900 years of rich and varied history. Originally established as a Cluniac nunnery, it has witnessed significant events like the Battle of Northampton during the Wars of the Roses. Today, this disestablished abbey is undergoing restoration and sits within an expansive 550 acres of picturesque parkland, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls amidst nature's beauty.
This is the first time I visit the Delapré Abbey becauseof the heritage open day. Before the visit, it's tearoom is already well known for the food. And yes, it is very amazing and the food is delicious. The staff is very lovely and helpful. Their customer service is brilliant even it is busy in the lunch hour. And for the Delapré Abbey, it is fantastic. The guided tour is highly recommended and lots of history can be explored and learned. The staff are very lovely too.
Jasmine L — Google review
Historical and cultural place. Various events are organised in certain periods. The building is also beautiful. A peaceful place in green and I often go for a walk here.
Mehmet A — Google review
We don't live nearby, and learned by chance about the Abbey, well worth the 45 minute drive to visit, (and free entry with HHA membership). A warm welcome by volunteer staff, and a brilliant guided tour of the building itself with Philip, who explained 900 years of history with never a dull moment! A good lunch in the Orangery café, and then we returned to the house to visit the few rooms not included in the tour; lots more information, activities for children, relaxed with books and games in the library, plenty of 'hands on' things to do. The grounds and gardens are extensive, too much to see in one visit; we'll be back!
Christine B — Google review
A peaceful and beautiful place to unwind. Delapré Abbey and the surrounding parkland offer a perfect escape from the busy town. I went for an early morning run and found the area ideal—quiet, clean, and full of natural beauty. It's also a wonderfully tranquil spot for a peaceful walk, especially if you’re out with a dog. There’s a lovely coffee shop on-site serving delicious coffee and pastries, with both indoor seating and a charming outdoor terrace. The Abbey itself is rich in history, and the grounds are beautifully maintained, with open spaces, gardens, and wooded trails. Whether you're into history, fitness, nature, or just a relaxing stroll with your dog, Delapré Abbey is a hidden gem in Northampton. I’ll definitely be returning!
Simona D — Google review
There are lots of nice and scenic walks to do. The cafe is reasonably priced and the staff are friendly.
Meg Y — Google review
What a beautiful place! Had one the best coffee here. Staff were welcoming and helpful - just a great place to enjoy.
Xhosi N — Google review
We booked on to the ‘Unusual Happenings’ ghost tour. It was our first time visiting the abbey and we had such a good time. Our tour guide was excellent and we found her research and enthusiasm surrounding the building’s history and ghost sightings really infectious. We’re already planning a return in the daytime. The dinner was perfectly themed and really delightful, the attention to detail was fantastic. It was a wonderful first impression and it’s nice to know there is such a gem on our doorstep! Thanks to all the team for making our night special :)
A J — Google review
Well worth a visit. There is plenty of ground and garden to walk and have an explore. Inside, there are interactive activities suitable for the young and old which help with learning about living in the past. To finish, do not leave without having a drink and bite to eat in the cafe.

Nature & Parks
Parks
Sywell Country Park, located near the village of Sywell, offers a picturesque 2.5-mile walk around its former reservoir. The park features walking paths, a butterfly garden, a cafe, and a play area for children. Visitors can explore the Waterworks Heritage Trail to learn about the park's history. The flat and accessible paths make it perfect for families and dog walkers to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage reflected in the still waters of the reservoir.
We recently visited Sywell Country Park and found it to be one of Northampton’s most enjoyable outdoor destinations. The park offers ample parking with a fee of £3.50 for up to 12 hours, making it a convenient choice for a full-day visit. Among its attractions, the children’s play area is engaging, while the butterfly garden adds a charming touch to the experience. However, the true highlight is the stunning reservoir, which offers a peaceful and scenic setting for walking or running. The walkway around the reservoir is well-maintained, with plenty of benches along the way—ideal for rest breaks or simply enjoying the view. The refreshing breeze from the water adds to the park's serene atmosphere. Overall, Sywell Country Park is a fantastic spot for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful natural setting.

How lovely! Nice and local to Northampton centre. 15mins away with good parking at £3.50 for 12hours. Well maintained paths, playground and a cafe with vegan treats. Thoroughly enjoyed the views. We even saw some grazing cows.
Melissa. N — Google review
A wonderful, quiet place to relax, stroll, spend time with family, or have a picnic. A beautiful place full of nature, unfortunately regularly devastated by trash left by visitors.
Dominika K — Google review
A really lovely country park, route around the reservoir is just under 5K and really pleasant. Ice cream in the cafe afterwards was top notch. Paying for parking can be fiddly if you haven’t got change .. Apple Pay on my phone wouldn’t work, but was able to sort via the paybyphone app. A great place to relax and spend a few hours.
Richard H — Google review
Sywell Country Park is the sort of place where dogs think they’ve died and gone to heaven. Long winding paths, open spaces to tear around, and a reservoir big enough to make them dream of a career in wildfowl management. If your dog loves a good walk, this is basically Disneyland. You’ll see everything from tiny dachshunds strutting like they own the place to labradors leaping into the water with the grace of a cannonball. The trails are great for humans too. They’re easy enough that you can stroll along happily with a coffee, but varied enough to make you feel like you’ve actually achieved something by the end. There are woods, lakeside stretches and enough benches to stage a sit down protest if your legs give up. Families love it here as well. The kids’ play areas are the sort of contraptions that would make most adults secretly want to have a go, and there’s enough space for little ones to burn off every ounce of sugar they’ve ever eaten. Meanwhile, parents can collapse with a coffee from the café and watch the chaos unfold. Speaking of the café, it’s a handy pit stop and the cake portions are generous enough to make you forgive the occasional goose giving you side eye for not sharing. Bring snacks, bring patience and bring a camera because there’s always something entertaining going on – whether it’s a spaniel launching itself joyfully into the reservoir or a toddler trying to befriend a duck. Sywell is funny, friendly and full of life. It’s the perfect mix of nature, play and people watching, and you always leave with a happy dog, tired kids and the smug glow of having “done a proper walk.” Five stars and one honorary medal to the geese for keeping everyone on their toes.

Great for walking the dog. We really enjoy the peace and quiet and the views onto the Reservoir. It takes roughly 2.5 hours to walk around the lake. Some people walk, some run or others are cycling round. There are toilets and a cafe at the main car park with a lovely sized playground for the kids. Had some food at the cafe today. The food was lovely. I chose chorizo and mozzarella toasties which came with a small pot of tasty chips and a cherry flavour flapjack. The service was polite and very professional.

First time I have visited. Took my dog and enjoyed a long walk through woodlands, fields and tracks. All well signposted. Large car park well marked out with ANPR on entry pay on exit so you dont need to worry about overstaying. Toilets were very clean. Sywell Aviation Museum, located at the Sywell Aerodrome, offers a small but fascinating showcase of local aviation history. Housed in a Quonset hut, the museum features vintage planes outside and takes visitors on a journey through the rich history of aviation from its earliest days to the RAF in WWII and beyond. The museum has a vintage ambiance that appeals to both history enthusiasts and those fascinated by the invention of flight.
Absolutely amazing collection of artifacts relating to the history of Sywell Aerodrome, munitions, life during the second world war and aviation archaeology. This small but fascinating collection is curated by enthusiastic and friendly volunteers. As a budding amateur archaeologist I was intrigued by the collections of aircraft remains and the archaeological origins of the museum. John, as one of the archaeologists to excavate them, very kindly talked me through each dig. If, like me, you like to immerse yourself in each display, this free to enter museum will take around an hour and a half to two hours to visit.

Small but interesting aircraft museum, it's only one building but there is plenty on display. Free to visit but with limited opening times, there is a small cafe called the Pilots Mess which is not part of the museum but only a few seconds away. It is just outside Wellingborough and easy to find.

Children's amusement center
Indoor playground
Riverside Hub, situated in Northampton, is a top-notch amusement center designed for children. It offers an array of indoor play areas, thrilling rides, and engaging activities suitable for kids of all ages. The facility boasts the UK's largest play frame, sensory rooms, go-karts, a carousel, creative studio, and more. Visitors can expect an extensive soft play area and various entertainment options such as role play and climbing walls.
Riverside Hub in Northampton is truly an impressive place and definitely deserves a top rating! From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that every detail has been carefully thought out with families and children of all ages in mind. The soft play structure is enormous — four stories high, with themed sections (such as an Egyptian tomb, a space zone, and interactive bridges), and everything is incredibly safe and spotlessly clean. The kids were thrilled to explore every hidden corner and zoom down the various slides. Beyond the traditional soft play, Riverside Hub offers: • fantastic go-karts where kids can race like real drivers, • a charming retro carousel, • a massive 10-meter climbing tree, • a thrilling laser tag arena, • a creative role-play village (with shops, cafés, a hospital, and more), • mini golf, • free arcade games, • special toddler areas and sensory rooms. A brilliant bonus is the interactive climbing walls that record videos of the climb — a fantastic keepsake for the kids! The staff were outstanding — friendly, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic. The café offers a wide range of tasty food options at very reasonable prices. Entry prices are also very attractive, especially considering how many activities are included — you pay once and can enjoy almost everything without any extra charges. Parking is available onsite (though it’s a good idea to arrive early on weekends), and online booking is quick and easy. An extra advantage is that the venue offers special sessions for children with additional needs (SEN) and is fully accessible for people with disabilities. In summary: Riverside Hub is one of the best family venues we have ever visited — an incredible range of attractions, excellent organization, cleanliness, affordable prices, and endless fun. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to return!

Went here for first time and overall wonderful place. Great for kids and adults alike. Brilliant theme all around can't fault this place. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff are welcoming and friendly. You pay one price and everything is included. Rock climbing, ball pits, sensory area, soft play, role-playing places. Disabled lift for those that need it. Food served here is great and good variety for everyone.

Once your baby starts pulling themselves up this place is amazing! We went with our then 9 month old and he had a great time and really helped develop his skills. Go during the week if you can for a discount and it's nice and quiet for babies/toddler. Will definitely visit regularly as he grows and explores more and more as there is so much for kids of all ages. Sensory rooms, ball pits, climbing frames and soft play, role play rooms and more!!

My husband two children and I were staying near by for Easter weekend and heard about Riverside Hub from a lady we had spoken to. We booked for the next day. We were just amazed when we got there, there is so much to look at and do it’s just something you dream about as a child! We had such a great time that we booked and returned the next day for round two! Excellent pricing and so much to do. By far the best soft play I have ever been to. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, thanks for a fab time :)

Visited here a few times with my daughter and once with her brothers from another mother .. had posted a review on my other Google account which I was logged into, but use this account more., highly recommend, lots to do, reasonably priced food and friendly polite staff. Sensory equipment and soft play available too, ideal for children with learning difficulties or not so good motor skills.. parking was sometimes a bit difficult but always managed.

We love coming to the Hub. As a family of 9, it can be a bit expensive, but for entertainment value, there's something for all the kids to enjoy - even our 5 month old twins. Parking can be a bit tricky at times, but we do have a large vehicle, so it's difficult to park in most places anyway. The food is nice, sometimes the wait is long though, but worth it. Laser tag is one of the favourite activities for our kids, but the play village is amazing for toddlers, and the sensory rooms for babies are great. Well worth a visit!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SEN NIGHT! I first discovered Riverside Hub when I hosted my son’s 1st birthday party there, and it was extraordinary. At that time, I didn’t yet know that he was SEN. Fast forward a year and a half, he has since been formally diagnosed with autism and ADHD — and tonight we returned for a SEN session after my sister chose to celebrate her own child’s birthday here (his cousin, who is also SEN). I was amazed at how much has been added and improved in such a short space of time, on top of what was already an incredible venue. What touched me most was the SEN night itself. Normally, I feel embarrassed or anxious when my son has a tantrum, screams, or doesn’t act in a way a neurotypical child might. But this evening, surrounded by families who truly understood, I felt so relaxed. It was a joy to meet other parents and share our experiences while watching our children play freely without fear of judgment. The variety of activities was fantastic, and having the session in the evening worked brilliantly — my son played his heart out, we grabbed a cheeky Matthews on the way home, and he was worn out and happy. Most of all, I want to thank Riverside Hub for thinking of every family dynamic, all ages, and all abilities. The staff deserve a special mention too — every single member we spoke to was warm, genuine, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their kindness made the whole experience even better. I’ve already booked the next two SEN sessions in October and November because the peace of mind I felt tonight is priceless. And just to show how fab Riverside Hub really is — I come all the way from London for it! Thank you for creating such an inclusive, magical place where children can simply be themselves. 💙

Located in Northampton, The Pinnacle Climbing Centre is a premier indoor climbing facility that caters to climbers of all skill levels. Since its establishment in 2010, it has set the standard for climbing centers in England. The center boasts state-of-the-art facilities with over 200 routes on various climbing walls, catering to both beginners and seasoned climbers. Additionally, there is a dedicated bouldering area for those seeking a different challenge.
Took my two daughters (ages 7 and 10) for a climbing session at Pinnacle - they both had a brilliant time and are already asking when we can go again. The instructors are friendly, patient, and made the whole experience really enjoyable for them. Parking was straightforward, and the facilities were clean and well organised. We'll definitely be coming back.

Booked a 10th birthday party for my son at pinnacle climbing centre. He had a great time and so did his guests. Staff all very friendly and clearly enjoy what they do. Set up really well inside with some great walls, and an indoor cave for the kids to explore. The pizza at the end was very nice too. Pricing was reasonable for the activities involved and food. Would recommend to anyone who had active children for their party. Thanks guys.

A huge thank you to the entire team at Pinnacle for hosting our corporate team-building event this month! We all absolutely loved the experience, the activities were brilliantly organised, and the staff were friendly, encouraging, and full of energy. A few of us even left inspired to take up climbing as a new hobby! We can’t forget to mention the food, it was exceptional. The pizzas, in particular, were a massive hit and have already been talked about back at the office. Thanks again for making our evening such a memorable one. We’ll definitely be back for some for the climbing, others just for the food!

Salcey Forest, located east of the village of Hartwell, is a former royal hunting ground that now offers a picturesque setting for outdoor activities. The forest boasts centuries-old oaks and diverse wildlife habitats. Visitors can explore three walking trails, including the easy Elephant Walk and the more challenging Church Path Trail. Additionally, there's a treetop walkway for children to enjoy. Dog owners will appreciate the off-lead policy throughout the forest.
This place is amazing for walks and dog walks. If you want to relax, come here for a walk and in the main lobby, there is a caffe, grass pit, benches, ping pong, and seven a go ape! There is multiple trails to choose from and every 50 meters or so, there is a sighn where to go. Highly recommend to go!

A lovely place to come for a walk around, great play area for kids. Only downside is the parking, it's often v busy and quite expensive
Zoe B — Google review
We should have checked the reviews before going. Not only the parking prices are higher than some other locations, I was told to pay the full penalty charge (the same as not paying at all) for unknowingly staying more than the time I initially paid for (even though the time I actually paid and drove to leave was within the time). I paid for 2 hours on the day. The walking route around the forest wasn't too big. It was not as expected. I wouldn't go here again.
Akhun M — Google review
A nice walk but wont be coming back due to the high car parking charge. I heard parking in the layby outside will get you a parking fine. Go to Harlestone Firs Forest Walk - its free!
Juan — Google review
Salcey Forest is stunning - a bit of a drive from Bedford but really worth it, especially when the weather is nice as you can spend all day there. There are several "play" areas (one at the main entrance, where the cafe is; others along the path, one where you can build your own den, another where you are in a fairy village), beautiful scenery, a treetop walk and, of course, the Zog trail. The kids really go crazy for it; you have the download the app but then you can "see" Zog and his friends on your videos and photos, with lots of fun dragon lessons to partake in. The cafe serves very nice food, the parking is reasonable (and overflow car park not too far to walk - the only inconvenient thing is you can't always pay by card so you have to do so at the information desk) and you can even rent bicycles to take around the forest. Highly recommend with kids of any age.

Visiting Northampton for a little get away and came across this fabulous spot. We had a really lovely 6 mile walk, beautiful scenery, nice walks, with a number of different routes to take depending on how far you wanted to walk. There are cycle routes, bridal ways, short, medium or long walks, and routes which engage children. We took the long route, which had multiple places to stop for a rest along the way. Parking was reasonable priced, toilets were very clean. Didn't go in the cafe. There is a play area for the kids at the start and another towards the end, and ping pong tables for all ages too. Unfortunately the tree top wasn't open, and didn't look like it had been for a while. Would highly recommend.

Had an absolutely amazing day out. We did the long 6 mile walk which was lovely but unfortunately we didnt catch a glimpse of any deers or woodpeckers! Mostly flat not many hills etc, varied terrain. Car park on site paying, or few free spots on roadside if lucky! Theres a cafe and public toilets and a picnic area and a few childrens play areas.

Northampton & Lamport Railway, located at Pitsford and Brampton Station, offers seasonal steam and diesel-powered rides along a 1.5-mile stretch of restored heritage track designed by George Stephenson. The railway, which had been closed since 1981, now provides passengers with the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful countryside while riding classic locomotives or exploring the station's memorabilia.
A lovely little hidden gem of Northampton. Although not huge, it's a great experience that not everywhere offers. Firstly, the staff are welcoming and friendly (especially for the children). Lots of opportunities to see some history and how trains operate. Plenty of options of refreshments at good prices. The train ride may be short but lovely for those who want to reminisce the history of trains and see some of Northampton's countryside for a small price.

Iconic 🚂 with almost 100 years service. Really enjoyed the ride and appreciate the amount of time and effort people working/ volunteering there. They maintain and explain lots of things to visitors. Great places for photography. Will definitely come back later.

Visited today (bank holiday Monday) for the Bluey event. We had never been before despite living locally. On arrival it was quite busy and we were unsure if there would be enough space to park but there was plenty of space with an overflow car park too. We went to the ticket office to redeem the tickets we had bought online, the staff were very friendly and helpful explaining where/when we could expect to see Bluey and what times the train would arrive. We had a lovely trip on the train, just the right amount of time before our little boy started to get a little bored. We had a look in the gift shop and bought an ice cream and lemon drizzle cake from the cafe which was very reasonably priced. There was face painting, hook a duck and a cups and saucers ride for the children at this particular event which was lovely too! We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing if there will be anything going on at Christmas!

What a superb visit at the Northampton and Lamport Railway. I booked the Cream Tea experience as a Mother's Day gift for my 89 year old Mum. Mum and I had the most wonderful time, and we were so impressed with the kindness and hospitality shown to us by the friendly volunteers. (A special mention must go to Joe Pratt who was super helpful and enthusiastic) Mum has a few mobility issues, but all the volunteers were on hand to help when boarding and disembarking the train and nothing was too much trouble. A shout out also to the ladies who prepared and served the delicious cream teas. Everything was spot on. I would highly recommend this as a super gift experience.

Glad I Visited this old railway even though it was closed. Nice pub next to it. Be careful of the many holes in the green by the tables. Lake is easy to walk around with some seating, sadly neglected, you can rest at. Good selection of drinks Inc low % IPA for those who drive. Food smelled lovely but I didn't eat this time.

We came here as a family and had such a lovely day out. It’s a smaller heritage railway, but it’s full of charm and character. The station at Pitsford and Brampton has a really nostalgic feel, and everything is run by friendly, passionate volunteers who make you feel genuinely welcome. The train ride isn’t long, but it was just enough for our kids to get excited without getting restless. They loved watching the steam engine up close and waving at people as we passed by. There’s also a little museum and some railway exhibits that kept them curious, plus a tearoom where we grabbed some drinks and cake — simple but tasty. It’s clear a lot of care goes into this place, and we really appreciated the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We’re already thinking about coming back for one of the themed events like the Santa Specials or a diesel day. If you’re looking for a wholesome, easygoing trip with a bit of old-school fun, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I visited for the first time and my son enjoyed himself a lot. Loads of friendly staff from the moment you set foot on the platform, great priced gift shop and very nice cafe food. Sadly there was no steam train on our visit but equally we enjoyed ourselves on a diesel train which was just as good. We would definitely be returning for a steam engine trip but I would also recommend travelling on the diesel train too they are just as fun!

My son's birthday party here was amazing! The kids loved the two games, the food, and the fun shaped balloons. The staff was wonderfully patient and friendly. She even helped us with the birthday cake, gathering everyone to sing and facilitating the cake cutting. Highly recommended for a fun, stress-free party!

Great night out with a selection of arcades to play. Not all were working, which was a shame, but there were some other games to kill time as we waited to bowl. Pool tables were well maintained, and the addition of a table tennis table was nice to see. Good selection of drinks and reasonably priced. Thanks for a good night, and I am looking forward to using your location again.

The last time I went to Tenpin was for my birthday with two of my friends, and like always, it was a fantastic experience. I’ve been there a few times now, and every visit has been amazing. For my birthday, I booked an hour of karaoke and enjoyed every minute of it with my friends. We also played a game of bowling, tried out some of the other activities, and had a wonderful time from start to finish. Honestly, there’s nothing bad I can say about this place. Every time I go, I have so much fun with my friends. The staff are always respectful, welcoming, and make you feel comfortable. If you’re looking for somewhere to have a great time with friends or family, Tenpin is definitely the place to be. I’m already looking forward to going back soon to spend more quality time there. What makes Tenpin even better is the variety of activities they offer. Whether you want to sing your heart out, bowl a few strikes, or just have fun with arcade games, there’s something for everyone. It’s a place where you can truly relax, laugh, and make great memories with friends and family.

Fantastic place, I often come here on dates but i will refuse to visit again. After visiting here recently & going to the pub afterwards, I was a mere 14 mins over the parking limit which I never knew existed. £60 to be paid & so I shall no longer visit sixfields retail park, especially Tenpin or the pub across the way.

I asked for 1 game for 2 children, when the bill was paid and i looked at the receipt, i had been charged for 2 games, went back and asked for a refund for the over charge they said no, they said they can only give a another game sometime in the future, THEY SAID IT WAS PAID AND WOULD NOT REFUND THE OVER CHARGE> HARD LUCK> I THINK THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY>>>>>>> BEWARE. Northampton Museum and Art Gallery is a free museum that boasts an extensive shoe collection, along with fine and decorative art as well as local heritage displays. It is home to the world's largest collection of objects related to the history of shoes. The museum has recently expanded in size, featuring a nine-meter-high glazed atrium extension that connects the original building to new galleries and activity space. Additionally, Northamptonshire is known for its renowned shoemakers, some of which are still in operation today.
Lovely and funny exhibition about "worse album covers". Really funny and picking a top 3 was hard 🤣🤣. Also went to the shoe exhibition, great as well. Plus it's free entrance, awesome

Staff are lovely and welcoming on arrival. For it being completely free it was an amazing museum. Plenty of things to see. The pop up exhibition was very fun with things to interact with. My favourite part of the museum/ art gallery was the animals made from scraps, absolutely gorgeous and clever, with such a great message. The artist are very talented. I am writing to express my concern regarding a recent experience at your museum. During our visit, my 3-year-old child was denied access to upstairs floor due to bringing a small balance bike (without pedals). I understand and fully support your efforts to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. However, I would like to respectfully question the necessity of applying such a restriction to a very young child’s balance bike, which is designed specifically for toddlers and does not pose the same risks as a traditional bicycle or scooter. At this age, many children rely on these small bikes for mobility and comfort, especially during longer outings. The bike in question was extremely small, non-motorized, and intended only to help our child navigate the space calmly and safely. I would greatly appreciate clarification on your policy and whether there might be any flexibility or case-by-case consideration, particularly for very young children using balance bikes responsibly. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope we can find a reasonable solution that allows families with young children to continue enjoying the museum experience.
Renato L — Google review
Wonderful museum and gallery. The biggest highlight is the dedication to accessibility. Accessible toilets well-sized, clean, and easy to access. All corridors were wide enough for mobility aids, and many doors were automatic. Despite the older elements of the building, it's clear how much effort has been made to create an inclusive environment. The cafe is reasonably priced and the exhibitions were brilliant and somewhat interactive. The shoe exhibition was by far the best!

The park has implemented various safety measures such as hand sanitizing stations, increased cleaning protocols, and online check-in to ensure visitors' comfort. Located at Riverside Retail Park, this warehouse-style trampoline park features a dedicated toddler zone for the little ones to enjoy safely.
Easy to get to on the far end of the Riverside estate past the car showrooms. There was plenty of parking with great disability access. The place was clean with the ability to purchase refreshments. As for the actual play area it was great for the more adventurous kids. Plenty of bouncing and safe falls. Can get a little crowded but on the whole a fantastic experience.

Freestyle jumping for an hour, kids can unleash all their energy, with no age limit, even adults can jump together freely! The most exciting part is the maze, starting with physical challenges, overcoming all obstacles, and finally jumping from a certain height onto an inflatable cushion.

Another great time at Boost with my little boy Louie. The staff are fantastic! Louie made friends with Morgan (a staff member) who interacted with Louie loads & made him laugh. Would definitely recommend the Mini Explorer sessions, so much fun & the little ones have access to the whole trampoline park without the worry of bigger kids knocking into them. This was our 4th visit & we’ll be booking again for next week 😊

I took my 3 year old niece to the dedicated afternoon toddler session last Tuesday, she had a wonderful time. The trampoline park was very quiet so we almost had the whole site to ourselves. Only a few areas were out of limits as they pose a risk to young children. This was well explained by the gentleman who welcomed us before our session. During our session, a very friendly member of staff was on the trampolines ready to help us if we needed it. I thought the 1 hour session was going to be more than enough for my niece but she would have happily stayed for the 2 hour session. They gave us socks when we arrived as we’d never been before. We can now use these every time we go. I’d really recommend it if you’re looking for a toddler activity.

Nothing to say about the playground, but the food is disgusting. I ordered children's menus and the chips look as if they haven't changed the oil in months. the fish fingers were very dry And full of oil ,my little girl couldn't eat them. I put some pictures

We love coming here as it's not far from us and it's always quiet during the week which is lovely. I don't find it the cleanest of places and it feels a bit run down but we don't mind touch. My only major concern is the chairs. They are incredibly light weight, my son has tipped off the 2 times now. It worries me so much, you only need to brush past and they fall over which is a health and safety concern. Staff are polite too which is also nice.

It was my first at this venue and I must say that I was very disappointed. We had two accidents with the purple slide which was not child friendly and unknown of the staff were showing any care to check on my children when they were hurt. They didn't have the correct first aid kit to treat my child. The staff were not present they were at the back talking.

I have to say at one point this place was decent. It’s gone shamefully down hill due to the dirt and filth with features not working. Its actually embarrassing the poor level of up keep. Please go elsewhere for your personal hygiene.. see photots from today .. I’m sure there is no excuse for this !!! Especially for price of entry

DO NOT GO HERE I visited Gravity Trampoline Park with my family, and my mum was asked to leave by the manager simply because she was speaking in her native language. The manager accused her of “talking badly” about them without any evidence — purely based on the fact she was speaking another language. This is unacceptable behaviour for any business, especially from management, and shows a lack of respect, cultural understanding, and professionalism. Everyone should feel welcome and safe, regardless of the language they speak. This experience left us shocked and deeply upset, and we will not be returning. I hope higher management takes this matter seriously and ensures no one else is treated this way in the future.

DON'T BOOK A KIDS PARTY HERE!! - arrived to what should have been a hosted party, an hour of bouncing then food. - as a responsible adult for 14 kids ages under 10 I had to pay to go in with them additional to the fee we paid - we had no host at all which led to us having to chase various members of staff and the poor manager who walked in mid way through to deal with me (I genuinely feel sorry for Jack who was as helpful as he could be but her received no handover from the AM shift manager or anything) - the food is rediculous: we had 4 children who ordered chicken strips: to which there was a 10 chicken nuggets provides to share between them - zero organisation, zero support, all the staff are under 21 and it shows. Honest advice, do not waste your money on paying for the party experience here. Such a shame

The toddler session was great value and our two year old loved it but it felt really run down. The basketball hoop and wipeout were still broken as per a previous review from 4 months ago, the football court wasn't inflated when we arrived and lights on the two challenge machines were intermittent. Parts of it were also dirty despite us being the first session of the day. Cafe wasn't open so unable to get a coffee either. For what you pay for the toddler session I'd go back but not sure I'd recommend for older kids when half of it is in need of repair or refurbishment

Had a lovely conversation today with the manager as she supports bullies after my non verbal (special needs) boy has been "accused" of pushing other children. So I went there hiding and a group of 5 kids were bulling him (and others) and she had told me that my NON VERBAL boy should have said it to someone. As a regular customer We won't go there anymore. Not surprised about previous review highlighting the poor management.

I recently celebrated my son's 6th birthday at Northampton Gravity, and it was an amazing experience! I want to say a special thanks to Yasan—he went above and beyond with his customer service! Thanks guys.

Very Disappointing Party Experience We were really disappointed with our recent party at Gravity Northampton. Unfortunately, several things went wrong that made the experience far from what we expected. To start with, the food we received was burnt, and we were told the freezer had broken—so we didn’t even get the food we had originally booked. The coffee machine was also out of order. We had been asked to complete all party details in advance, which we did, but were then asked to complete them again on the day, which felt very disorganised. There was no one hosting our party, meaning we had to keep chasing staff for everything—from food and drinks to basic information. Unlike previous visits, there were no games or interaction with the party children, which was something we had really appreciated before. While the General Manager did apologise, and the children did enjoy bouncing, the overall experience was chaotic and disappointing. Based on this visit, we wouldn’t book again, nor would we recommend Gravity Northampton for a party.

Moulton Leisure Centre in Northamptonshire offers a fun swimming experience with its aqua run pool inflatable, providing an exciting obstacle course for swimmers to conquer. The crash course swimming lessons during school holidays have received high praise for their effectiveness in improving children's swimming skills, with the instructor Jenny being particularly encouraging and skilled at working with kids. The gym is well-maintained and not overly crowded, making it easy to access equipment.
Small but well equipped gym, clean, and attentive staff. Also attended some classes, including on the swimming pool and loved it. Good conditions and great staff are always available to help!
Vânia C — Google review
My first visit there , so I've only seen the gym. My wellness app barcode , didn't work , but this appears to be an issue between the 2 companies. However the lady on reception was really patient and helpful and got me set up. The gym was very well equipped , not too busy and lots of natural light Pretty impressed

My daughter has taken part in the crash course swimming lessons a few times during the school holidays over the past year. (Alongside her usual weekly swimming lesson that is excellent). The crash courses however and so fantastic I had to share! My daughter has really improved her swimming with these courses. She loves the teacher Jenny who is super encouraging and really works with the kids improving their skills. It’s just a great way for the kids to excel. We are really pleased with them. Her usual teacher is 1st class also - to be honest, they have all been wonderful. Thank you.

As filthy as ever! It is truly disgraceful how dirty the gym is! Why doesn't management from head office get themselves into Moulton Everyone Active and sort it out. Early morning staff look forever disgruntled with little or no interaction at all. Get a cleaning company in if your staff aren't supposed to do the cleaning!

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for helping my granddaughter after her accidental fall. She is fine. No further action was required after checking by a doctor. Your care and attention to safety precautions down to smallest details made her feel safe. Best team ever!

The first time I came to Moulton Leisure Centre was at the beggining of the year. It is lovely, modern, clean and all the staff are friendly. I've only seen the swimming pools so can only comment on these. The main pool has a moving floor and there is a smaller warm teaching pool which is great for the baby swimming lessons, toddler swimming lessons and preschool swimming lessons that they offer. I would highly recommend. Thank you

Avoid... I have had to cancely membership! I am a disabled member at this centre, unfortunately the equipment that I need to use and access are broken. They have been broken for weeks.. I have rang again today to be told still broken and will be for the next week at least.. I said about a refund as I can't use the facility due to this being broken. I practically got laughed at! Rude, unhelpful and constantly on disrepair.. disgusting.

Something has happened at Moulton leisure centre recently. The staff are miserable. The staff turnover is huge. The cleanliness standards are appalling. The attention to detail is non-existent. Timekeeping is tardy. No one is helpful. Even their app and their website is not helpful if you want to leave feedback, which I've just tried to do before writing this. I should give it a swerve if I were you.

We had a lovely visit this morning. It was New Year’s Day so expected wacky to be quiet, but it was busier than expected. The lady working, Natasha was so friendly and attentive. You could see she was really busy, but this didn’t stop her from engaging with my children and others too. She’s a credit to the team. Food was also lovely and came really quickly after ordering. Lovely visit and would recommend!

Fantastic place, very reasonable priced for a kids party and staff couldn't have done more for us, so friendly. Thank you so much for making my daughter's birthday so stress free. Morgan, Layla, Natasha wish I could give you girls 10 stars ⭐
Lorraine M — Google review
I recently hosted my daughter’s birthday party at Lakeside, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We arrived at 12:50 for a 1:00 PM booking, only to find our table for the parents dirty, with leftover food and spilled drinks from the previous party. The floor was so filthy we had to watch where we stepped – not ideal when kids are running around in socks. The play area itself was fine, and the kids enjoyed it simply because it was a new place for them. However, the party food situation was unacceptable. For 11 children, there was just one small plate of chips, one of nuggets, and one with some fruit and vegetables that looked old and half-eaten. It honestly seemed like leftovers from a previous party. When I asked for a bit more food because there clearly wasn’t enough, I had to run around myself trying to find someone to help – despite being told during booking that a staff member would be available. Even getting drinks was up to me. And to top it all off, at the end of the party, I was told I had to pay an extra £12 for the additional nuggets and vegetables. I thought it was a joke. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I would never come back – not even as a guest at someone else’s party.

I had a birthday party here on the 31st May and the whole experience was amazing. They did everything for us, including sorting food, party bags, they even cut the cake to give to the party after. We had Tasha help us from the moment we got there and she was amazing. She was very attentive, always asked if she could help in any other way, she was kind to all the children and made the whole experience 10 times better. I would definitely have a birthday party here again in the future. Special thanks to Tasha again for all your help.

1st Roade Squirrels had a great time and the team at Wacky especially Victoria were so helpful. Victoria took time to chat to everyone and make sure we had everything we needed, we even got to stay a little longer. Unfortunately our usual meeting place had an issue with flooding so we needed to find an alternative activity with less than 36hrs notice. They were so helpful and able to accommodate us allowing the Squirrels to enjoy a slightly different evening at a very reasonable price. Some parents ordered food as well which was very yummy 😋 Thank you once again and we can't wait to attend again in the future, this time an actual planned visit 🐿️🙂🐿️

Came hear today with my partner, my sister and my neice for food and soft play Soft Play was busy as there was a birthday party, but we didnt mind as we chose here for the soft play side of it anyways. However, its extremly hard to articulate just how poor the food was. Like really poor. Initial food and drinks came to near 50 quid for the 3 of us. My neice didn't eat... £2.50 for a soda and lime? Nearly 10 quid for a microwaved lasagne and a salad that was hot(?) and forgot Garlic bread as well A steak that came as medium instead of blue. The waitress said we could eat the rest and she'd get a fresh steak, then returned to take it away so the chef could check it (?!?!?!?!). Yeah mate, because I'm gonna lie to you over a bloody steak... Also paid extra for scampi with my steak and it came with 4 overcooked pieces of tiny ass scampi. £2 quid? Never again. The jacket spud with beans and cheese was nuked, and was hard at the base and came with no salad. How the hell can you mess up a Jacket Potato? Our drinks came just before the food and only after waiting 20 odd minutes before we went and enquired. We obviously didn't come here for a fine dining experience, but in comparison the the other Hungry Horse at Sixfields (never had issues up there...), it was absolute tosh. If we were to come back here, we'd bring our own food/drinks On the plus side, the soft play was fun for my niece and the 2 girls behind the bar were very helpful. We will not be back...far better establishments local to spend £70

Had a great meal there today, it was quiet when we arrived and I had smothered steak, and my wife had the 12oz gammon. The food was cooked to perfection. I then had Apple&Berry crumble and my wife hadSticky toffee pudding, both with custard. Just before we left there were lots of small children arriving for an Halloween party , and they were all dressed up in costumes for the event.

Coton Manor Garden, located in the village of Guilsborough, is a picturesque 10-acre garden surrounding a stunning 17th-century manor house. Originally designed in the 1920s, the garden has been expanded over generations to take advantage of its natural setting and water features. The terraces around the manor house are adorned with colorful pots and containers, while the surrounding gardens offer unexpected vistas at every turn.
Very relaxing environment. I'd recommend getting there early as it can get pretty busy during peak times. Such a lovely Botanical gardens. Rather large nursery with wide range of plants hidden behind the cafe too. Love this place
Louisa O — Google review
Visited this garden in the second week of September, when most gardens are looking past their best for the season and there's not a lot of colour. I couldn't believe how fantastic this garden looked! The layout is very interesting, with a beautiful water garden running down a slope leading to a more open area. I've visited many gardens in the UK, and this is definitely one that I will remember for a long time and one of the very best. The tea room is reasonably priced and the cake was great. We didn't have one of the meals on offer but the menu looked tempting.

Spent the afternoon admiring the colourful pants and excellent park with its flamingoes, ducks, chickens and the stag, which turnef out of being a statue. They also had a nice cafe/restaurant. Lots of free parking, too.

The gardens are stunning. Plenty of places to sit and admire the beauty. Flamingos too! Plenty of plants for sale. Lovely cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.

Never fails to please. Beautiful gardens that even in early Oxtober had lots of colour. Chickens and flamingoes roam on the lawns. The gardens are well maintained and we even had tea and delicious cake. We are thinking of getting a season ticket for next year. We'll worth a visit.

Hunsbury Hill is a serene green space that houses the remnants of an ancient hilltop Iron Age hill fort and a Victorian quarry. Dating back to about 500 BC, the Iron Age saw the construction of several hill-forts in the area, with Hunsbury Hill being notably significant. The Hunsbury Hill Country Park Circular Walk offers a scenic 3.
Love the tree trail as an addition to the walk. Loved lesring about the trees around. The place is absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely come back.

I'd not been to this lovely country park since childhood. It's surprisingly bigger than anticipated and well isolated from the road in places (no noise other than the trees). The walk around the iron age fort is short but enjoyable and the snippets of history around the park are welcome.

With free parking and a little cafe on site the little country park offers a lot for the younger Walker. The path around it isn't too long, just less that 2km all the way around with plenty to see and do, including a play park. Definitely worth a look if you have an afternoon or morning to spare.

Great day out for children and adults. Loads to do. The children will rest easy tonight. Water, fields, ducks, swans, playground. Can't be beaten. Grandparents and parents put your running shoes on! Once they are in this beautifully kept open space freedom ensues.

Great place for a walk if you want to get away from the busy, noisy, car infested everydays. Seems like a good place for running, especially if you prefer off road tracks. Definitely coming back for that.

Dallington Park is a picturesque and historically significant conservation area located in Northampton, United Kingdom. The park offers free parking and is frequented by runners, cyclists, dog walkers, and sports enthusiasts. It features amenities such as football goals for club use, fenced play areas for young children and adults, picnic spots, a basketball area, and a secret garden. The lush greenery and well-maintained walking paths make it an ideal place for leisurely strolls.
Very nice park. Very friendly. Non threatening area to walk your dog. Would prefer lights around the perimeter though, as it’s too dark at night.
Mrmagoo701 — Google review
Loved to come here as a child but the park has changed a lot since then and they've removed all the best parts of it. However it's still a lovely park and I sometimes come here just to eat and be outside.

Me and my kids love Dallington park...lovely equipment and always seems clean. Great that they have the bike track too. Abit disappointed that the rope swing has been removed but still had a lovely time x
Natalie H — Google review
I have been a resident of Dallington Park for several years now and I can confidently say that it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The park itself is absolutely stunning, with lush greenery, beautiful flowers, and well-maintained walking paths. One of the features that I love most about Dallington Park is the community garden. It is such a peaceful and serene place to spend time, and I have enjoyed growing my own fruits and vegetables there. The park also has a playground for children, which is perfect for families with young kids. Another benefit of living in Dallington Park is the sense of community. The residents here are friendly and welcoming, and there are always events and activities happening in the park that bring us all together. It truly feels like a tight-knit neighborhood. Overall, I cannot recommend Dallington Park enough. If you are looking for a beautiful and vibrant community to call home, look no further than Dallington Park.

Very nice park for a family day out. There's a kids dedicated park. There's plenty of space for a picnic, family games etc. Ice-cream van comes around a few times daily in the summer. However, there are no clean and hygienic restrooms
Rohini S — Google review
Love this park! It has a play area for the kids, clear paths to walk, car park, and sensory flower garden too. The car park has been resurfaced, and now has allocated disabled parking closest to the new dropped kerb onto the park. So much more disabled friendly!
Lisa S — Google review
Well kept park with great facilities for young children, but one side of the park opens to a road and another has ungated access meaning Dogs can get out onto the main road. Due to this, although the Dogs with me have excellent recall, I only walked two sides of the park as you never know if something unexpected might take their attention, as it does ours.
Lisa H — Google review
Always a pleasure to walk in this park Great for children also. Right now if you come out of the playground the other end you have to duck because of the tree. But if you look up into the autumn leaves it's magical. The leaves will be gone in a couple of days though
