We are lucky to come today in good weather and full bloomed sakura. There are a lot of stalls and shows too. And of course many tourists from local to international. Admission is free while enjoying the full bloom sakura around the Castle. A very nice way to enjoy with family and friends ☺️

Mid March may not be the most ideal time to visit. Though it is nice to take a walk at the park. It shall be more interesting if we can visit the exhibition hall to learn more about the History of the city. Unfortunately, it was not open on the day we visit.

This free park is outstanding during the Cherry Blossom season! There are food stalls, games and drinks for the whole family! The night view of the Sakura is also amazing! We enjoyed a lot! You can walk about 10 mins to the park from the Ueda train station or take a 5min bus ride there. I’m not sure how to get back by bus. You can go up the castle turret for a fee. Clean bathrooms are available inside. There’s a souvenir shop in front of the main entrance but it closes early.

Loved the gates and the towers of this castle. The grounds are very pretty in October and the dark wood really feels different from other castles in Japan. Sanada shrine is also located directly next to the castle ruins making for a nice day trip.

The castle is especially beautiful during cherry blossom season, attracting visitors with its scenic views and tranquil atmosphere. While not as grand as some other Japanese castles, its history and picturesque setting make it a charming place to visit.

Although a lot smaller than expected, I highly enjoyed the castle, and definitely recommend it. The more recent history of the castle, it being bought by someone who didn't want it being split between multiple owners and too many changes made to it and instead making it into a public park, was cool to learn, and the shrine there is lovely too. Unfortunately there is currently ongoing construction work, but it's still a good place to visit. The shrine has goshuin with awesome designs, and they give out free sweeties with them! There are good photo spots too, and sometimes there are performers by the main gate. There are also museums, and you can look around the turrets, but that has an admission fee.

We got there on Tuesday, later afternoon. It was super quiet and only few shops and restaurants were open. The area was really nice though and we thoroughly enjoyed our walk through it which took 1 hour.

We visited Narai-juku and found it to be a charming and very photogenic spot. The preserved street has a wonderful historical atmosphere and is great for strolling and taking pictures. The only downside is that most shops and cafés close quite early, so there wasn’t much open later in the day. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit for the scenery and the unique vibe.

Takes you back to the old times. I absolutely loved coming here. But I would say you're missing out too much if you skip it. At least it is less crowded than Kyoto's traditional houses.

On Sep. 23, they were just harvesting the fields and there were scarecrows on display, but some were a bit blown over. The area is managed by an NPO and families pay to be members and harvest the rice. Entrance is free, but apparently you are asked to pay 500 yen for parking. We got there at 9:30 on a Saturday and there were already lots of cars so just kind of parked on the road and didn't know to pay. The car navigation also couldn't get us there, so had to use Google maps and intuition until we hit some small signs. There's no food, but a small rest house with a drink machine and rice for sale. The terraces are not on the huge scale of those you might see in National Geographic, but photographers will enjoy the landscape and view.
