Beth was awesome to work with through the planning process, and wedding weekend. She was kind, helpful, professional, responsive, and we had full confidence in her executing our event! She helped provide all the critical info up front, answered all our questions through the process, provided guidance, vendor suggestions (DJ was amazing), helped coordinate details for some of the other vendors, and overall was a calming presence that put us at ease. The wedding logistics were executed flawlessly, and it was such a nice feeling to be able to have full confidence in Beth and the staff, and truly be able to enjoy the day/evening. The venue itself (Amuse & Claiborne) was perfect, and our guests were raving about it - they enjoyed the different rooms to talk and dance, and enjoyed the patios. The bar never had a line, everything was efficient, and guest enjoyed the selection. Be sure to look at the daily schedule so you can get the best out of your visit. You can easily spend 3 hours there and even more if you have very curious children. Right now, they have the dinosaur exhibit, and my kids were in awe. My son couldn’t stop staring at the dinosaurs, and my daughter loved reading about the different species. But not just any museum, but the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia. I can say this was a great way to spend my afternoon. I was able to tour the museum at my own pace. It's locating interesting places. Cemeteries have lots of interesting historical places to waymark. So I've seen a lot of cemeteries. This is one of the top three cemeteries I've ever been to. It is absolutely beautiful. There are so many old trees and interesting structures and memorials. I love the fact there's no plastic flowers or decorations. We met the gentleman who gives the chores and spent time sharing the history of the cemetery with my husband and it really made the visit all that more interesting. We'll be going back soon and next time we plan on taking the tour. It's well worth the visit, even if you're not sure you're into cemeteries. It's just a beautiful place.

We toured at opening on a Sunday and were greeted by super friendly staff who exuded passion for the home. Small fee to tour the home and the the gardens are free. Also, military service members are free which was 5 stars right away. You can spend an hour or an entire afternoon here with a self guided tour of the gardens and house. The staff gave a brief but very informative introduction to the home and then allowed you to explore on your own with tour guides stationed throughout different rooms. A small but great gift shop filled with treasures. We look forward to returning in the Spring to see the tulips, per one of the guides recommendations. Easy to find, plenty of parking, if you’re visiting in the summer like we did, the house is air conditioning which gives a nice break from exploring the grounds.

Enjoyed chatting with one of the rangers about the local history and she gave directions for how to tour the area with the NPS app. This was a terrific walking tour since it covers a large part of the Jackson Ward. Parking is on street only. Had to do one lap to find a spot. There is signage on where to go. Main entrance and inside court yard area. Small exhbit area with store front. There is also movie room with 20 min video which is a must before starting tour. Tour happens right after movie which they show every hour except noon from opening to closing. There is a junior ranger program here specific for Maggie Walker National Historic site along with special cancellation stamp if you collect those. They do have their own collectable token as well. The movie was very interesting and we all learned alot. Then the tour of the house was best. Ranger who gave the tour (also DnD enthuist) was amazing and enteracted with our kids (13, 10 and 7). She explained the history of the house and the additions and the items inside which were original and belonged to Maggie Walker. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town. We spent maybe 90 mins and alot of it was interacting with the rangers and completing the junior ranger program. I would guess most people wouldn't spend more than an hour here total. Worse part was probably trying to find parking. There was one other family that toured with us and also at the time of our visit the mask mandate was reinstated so all NPS in Richmond required masks.

The staff was friendly and very helpful arranging everything for our wedding. I couldn’t have asked for more. Mackenzie was amazing to work with and she was so thorough with all the little details from something as simple as table cloths to making sure tables were rearranged at the correct time. The wines and ciders we had were great, we most definitely got a few extra bottles to take home with us afterwards. There are multiple options with weddings or any other event at Blue Bee Cider which my husband and I thought was great as we did have a smaller wedding and a full buyout would’ve been more than what we needed. The location is great as well, I believe our hotel was less than 15 minutes away. This worked out very well as we had family and friends coming in from out of state. First the pastries are amazing! The savory mushroom and the fig and cheese were both fabulous.
