Beth was awesome to work with through the planning process, and wedding weekend. She was kind, helpful, professional, responsive, and we had full confidence in her executing our event! She helped provide all the critical info up front, answered all our questions through the process, provided guidance, vendor suggestions (DJ was amazing), helped coordinate details for some of the other vendors, and overall was a calming presence that put us at ease. The wedding logistics were executed flawlessly, and it was such a nice feeling to be able to have full confidence in Beth and the staff, and truly be able to enjoy the day/evening. The venue itself (Amuse & Claiborne) was perfect, and our guests were raving about it - they enjoyed the different rooms to talk and dance, and enjoyed the patios. The food was incredible (especially the mac and cheese!), we loved having so many options as a part of the station dinner, and guests really liked having the food out all evening. The bar never had a line, everything was efficient, and guest enjoyed the selection. Most importantly, we and our guests noticed and appreciated how every staff member we interacted with was so nice, helpful, and were just a positive addition to our evening. Lastly, we loved all the different outdoor options for pictures, including a private first look in the front of the building. The grounds are so beautiful! It's locating interesting places. Cemeteries have lots of interesting historical places to waymark. So I've seen a lot of cemeteries. This is one of the top three cemeteries I've ever been to. It is absolutely beautiful. There are so many old trees and interesting structures and memorials. I love the fact there's no plastic flowers or decorations. We met the gentleman who gives the chores and spent time sharing the history of the cemetery with my husband and it really made the visit all that more interesting. What a wonderful gem in Richmond where you can see classic Tudor Style and beautiful gardens. We toured at opening on a Sunday and were greeted by super friendly staff who exuded passion for the home. Small fee to tour the home and the the gardens are free. Also, military service members are free which was 5 stars right away. You can spend an hour or an entire afternoon here with a self guided tour of the gardens and house. The staff gave a brief but very informative introduction to the home and then allowed you to explore on your own with tour guides stationed throughout different rooms. A small but great gift shop filled with treasures. We look forward to returning in the Spring to see the tulips, per one of the guides recommendations. Easy to find, plenty of parking, if you’re visiting in the summer like we did, the house is air conditioning which gives a nice break from exploring the grounds.

The Tudor mansion was beautiful and well preserved. The craftsmanship and history is amazing to learn about and see. The set decorations were top-notch, we loved the scattered bones and floor covering. We had a lot of fun exploring the rooms and blocking out the unicorns as we completed puzzles. The only issue we ran into was that sometimes we didn’t realize the puzzle doors had opened. Putting a bell on the door or adding an audio clip would be a great addition. We weren’t a huge fan of the counting puzzle, but that was because we were overly paranoid about stuff like “do the pictures count?” --- Unicorn: 9 out of 10 Our favorite room of the day (4 here and 4 with another company). We loved the music, it kept us upbeat and moving. Puzzles were fun and felt unique. The problem we had not noticing the doors opening in Vampires wasn’t as big a deal in here because of the fairy-lights tucked behind each door. The light shining out of the door in the dim room was a great visual clue something had happened. The set design was fantastic. The room decorations were great and the puzzles felt fun and engaging. We had one tech failure towards the end, but Alex spotted it before we realized something was wrong and walked us through fixing it. --- Lost Jewel of the James: 8 out of 10 Wow, this set design was amazing (and our 2nd favorite of the day). The lighting, the decorations, everything. Still a bit mean for the tall guy, but only when going from room to room. Alex made this room come to life with his voice-acting and banter. There was an unexpected reveal at one point that really surprised us, something rare given the number of rooms we’ve done. We got stuck at one point because we tried triggering a puzzle early and assumed that wasn’t the answer later when we needed it, but it only took a quick hint to get us back on track. Our biggest issue were the chalk boards – not sure what happened to them, but we couldn’t easily get them to take the chalk… --- Vanity: 7.5 out of 10 A good room, but not really my flavor. The concept is original and well implemented, but the aging starlet theme didn’t excite me. Some really great room reveals though and great use of technology. We did run into a few problems of our own creation – forgetting to thoroughly search areas, etc. I think our only real complaint was one puzzle that felt overly long and laborious - thematic, but so much sorting...

That's how we found the Boathouse for our magical dinner on the top floor. We rented the Harbormaster Suite for our private dinner, which comfortably held 25 guests. My only critique is that the Harbormaster room itself could use some updating. The Boathouse's main restaurant has beautiful decor and we feel that the Harbormaster room should reflect an equally as beautiful aesthetic upstairs. Parking was very difficult due to it being a nice Saturday evening. They do offer valet parking but for $14 dollars it just isn’t worth all of that. After cruising they one parking lot for the 3rd or 4th time a lovey young couple let us know they were leaving and we could have their spot (thankfully they did b/c if not we would have cancelled our reservation). When we got inside there were a lot of people clustered in the entrance waiting to be seated. The hostess was nice and professional and let everyone know that they were waiting for the previous patrons to finish up so that they could seat guest once they had available tables. We reserved a table for two on the outside patio overlooking the James River. We were seated after a minor wait; which was understandable due to how busy this popular venue is. After being seated we began to enjoy the sunset and the river as we were greeted by our waitress Briana, who was very friendly. She brought us a lamp so that we would have some romantic ambience because the patio torch beside our table was not operable. She kindly helped us decide on appetizer. We went with the roasted Brussels which was a great choice. We then placed our order for the Dynamite Shrimp tacos and I ordered the Seared Flounder with Zucchini tomato and corn. When the main dishes came out they were plated fairly good. My only issue was with the seared flounder; it was underwhelming ( it was not a full flounder and there was only 3 slices of zucchini. There was plenty of corn and cherry tomatoes however. So I let Briana know that was not what I expected for $29, I then sent it back and just ordered the shrimp tacos for myself as well. Briana was also kind enough to offer us a small dessert for me and my date to share making a nice end to our sunset dinner overlooking the James river.

The times I've been here it's been very busy and there is no clear paths or directions, which makes it confusing and overwhelming visitor experience. Their cakes are really good and the portion sizes are huge, but there is also a price tag associated with this. For our Americano and our Irish coffee it was $20. It was another $20 for a meal. The slice of cake I want to say was around $7 . I've only had their cakes, which are pretty good, but according to the friends I was with the food looked really good but was only okay. I want to like this place but there are just some improvements that could be made to make visitor experience better.

They have quite a few different beers and ciders that you can pour yourself paying by the ounce. We spent about an hour here but with so many games down and the place feeling so run down we ended up leaving to go shoot some pool. There's a similar type of bar that is opening up in Short Pump and I probably would check that place out before coming back to circuit.

Cashier was great at explaining the process. Beer selection was fantastic, the concept is mind-blowing! So many have options & a nice lounge area. I didn't give 5 stars because a lot of the stemmed glasses had lipstick marks (I shuffled through them until I found clean ones & put the dirty ones in the dirty rack, at least every other one was dirty) & the ladies room was disgusting. No TP, 2 of 3 stalls are overflowed. One door had no lock, wouldn't stay closed & people kept walking in on me. Stall wall wasnt low enough & you were showing tail to the outside of the stall to the girls who were squatting to hold their bladders by the sink in line by the sink. A pinball machine was on the fritz but there was no indication on how to find an attendant & I felt like I was putting the poor girl selling tokens out when I told her. I'm going back because it was a really crowded night and sometimes it all happens at once. I have a child who I can't often bring out with me due to Asperger's, I'd love to bring him here so both his parents can get some respite and he can too! I look forward to another try on a less busy day.

It has beautiful and unique formal gardens, an animal farm, a historic home, a nature center and so much more. Years ago I attended a wedding at the Italian Gardens and it was a beautiful ceremony. The Italian Gardens are right behind the historic mansion. In front of the mansion is a grouping of the most amazing trees that my children loved having a picnic under. Maymont has benches set up under these trees. The fact that admission is free to all of the grounds and the farm area is amazing and quite the gift to Richmond. It is one of those types of stops; you don't realize how close you are until you start looking around deeper at places nearby. We had to add the stop to our list before we left Richmond. We got to the church when they were opening up for the day. The gentleman that was there was apologizing for being so late to open up (but it was only 5 minutes). We talked to him about the freeway traffic we would hit when we left. He asked us if we wanted to take a tour of the church. We had already read all the placards and said we had to go. The church offers a shortened tour that allows visitors to go inside for a brief period to see the interior and take pictures. We opted for that and had an extremely pleasant experience. The docent was friendly and answered all our questions, even though we didn't take the full tour. She let us take as many photos and videos as we wanted, and we weren't rushed. Loved it. We are so glad that we stopped here, and we want to thank the staff for treating us with the respect and consideration of a customer and traveling tourist. We wish we could give a sixth star. They do an excellent job interpreting the states history. Everything was laid out really well. They also have a cafe and a gift shop. Down to the logistics. I have severely limited mobility and depend on an electric scooter to get around. This place was extremely accessible. There are bathrooms on the first and second floor. My only complaint is that there is a walk in family/handicap bathroom on the first floor only. There are standard men and women’s bathroom on the second floor. There are benches all throughout the museum. All of the displays are easy to see and read. The staff are scattered around and are very helpful. The cafe had a limited menu but what we had was good. I got a premade ham and Swiss sandwich which was really good. We also got ice cream sandwiches which were really good. Overall we spent over 3 hours there and honestly rushed through and skimmed the last room. We could’ve easily spent 4 hours visiting. There is an elevator to help those with limited mobility navigate the museum. We came to this area from south Jersey just to see this museum and it was well worth it. I really enjoyed it.

I can’t wait to see more shows here — it’s quickly become one of my favorite venues!

Worth the drive down from DC. Gorgeous theater. We had seats in the orchestra, row G, along the inner aisle and had several problems. First of all the sound was somewhat distorted at that location and so it was often hard to hear lyrics, especially during group songs. Also the staging was odd for a broadway show, making it impossible to see certain parts of scenes unless you were in center seats, which we were not. But worst of all: we were so cold that we all zipped up jackets and even then we were not warm enough. Many other audience members complained about this. A small group of us went to find the house or floor mgr at intermission to plead for mercy and we were told that the actors preferred the icy chill. Note: cold air was blowing down on us and also up from under the seats. I even bent over the pit to speak to musicians and they, too, were suffering as were the numerous ushers/volunteers I spoke with. What gives? I have attended many shows over the years, mostly in DC but lots of other places as well and have never experienced this level of cold. It was hard to appreciate the excellence of the show due to the discomfort.

The staff was friendly and very helpful arranging everything for our wedding. I couldn’t have asked for more. Mackenzie was amazing to work with and she was so thorough with all the little details from something as simple as table cloths to making sure tables were rearranged at the correct time. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and speaks for itself, our family and friends loved it. The wines and ciders we had were great, we most definitely got a few extra bottles to take home with us afterwards. There are multiple options with weddings or any other event at Blue Bee Cider which my husband and I thought was great as we did have a smaller wedding and a full buyout would’ve been more than what we needed. The location is great as well, I believe our hotel was less than 15 minutes away. This worked out very well as we had family and friends coming in from out of state. Also there are so many places for beautiful photographs at the venue and right outside the venue. 10/10 recommend Blue Bee to anyone who is looking at have any type of event as they do have the different event spaces available.

They don't offer samples, which is pretty typical of most ice cream places in RVA these days. Especially to repurpose unused space. I felt the execution lacked in some aspects though. The holes themselves were pretty basic except for hole 12 which was a standout. The holes are not spaced very well so often people ahead had to stand on the hole at the end and cause a backup. The carpet was very interesting and I loved the aesthetic, however the ball doesn’t roll or bounce great on the carpeted floor and wall. For there to be an auto gratuity of 20% for a two party table I expect at least to have my water/coffee refilled or asked how my food was, not be completely ignored. The dining area was cramped and the chairs are quite uncomfortable. Beware of what you see on social media as the entire establishment looks like a rushed remodel. Right now, they have the dinosaur exhibit, and my kids were in awe. My son couldn’t stop staring at the dinosaurs, and my daughter loved reading about the different species. The LightPlace for kids 5 and under was perfect, and they had a blast climbing and exploring there. Between the insect and reptile exhibits, live bees, and other science displays, there was so much to see and do. We happened to be in Virginia for family and we popped down (though as predicted the traffic was HORRENDOUS in both directions so plan accordingly). The brewery is gigantic, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, in house food which was amazing. Flavorful, balanced and just chef's kiss to complement the delicious beers. Ok the beer -- that's the main event. We decided to try most of the beers that were on draft (they also do can pours), the IPAs are outstanding, obviously it's what they are known for, but I was so so happy to also have great ales, the Saison and Belgian beers were so good. Staff were so nice and welcoming and we got great swag and cans to go as well before leaving. Outside is VERY dog friendly (they'll give you a clean water bowl and fill it) and SHADED which for any pale folks 🦇👻 *most of the outdoor area is in shade for the entire day which was much appreciated for me and our two double coated pups.
