When comparing it to similar classic luxury hotels it falls slightly short. Breakfast is excellent, served in beautiful setting with a good verity of produce. The pool is ok, but was consistently a mess, with no staff paying attention to the space and the gym is a small space that they would be better closing as few gym goers would really use it. The rooftop bar could be a goldmine but with outdated furniture and only two staff at peak times and super high prices it is a turnoff. The view is brilliant and staff very friendly…. The room was nice, but housekeeping really needs to look at the small details…..deep cleaning and refilling the soap!! The layout was not very practical but clearly the owners have aimed for high quality furnishings. As stated it’s nice experience but needs more hands on management attention.

Once you are past a mini waterfall you will find your way to a big hill which is almost at the same height as Borj Nord but has an amazing view 360 degrees of Jbel Zalagh, medina of Fes and Ville Nouvelle. We arrived at the top of the hill around highest point of the sun and we had an amazing concert of the prayers and we could hear them all, quite clear still although we were far from the city. This was the most amazing moment from Fes which I will always remember! Absolutely astonishing views and this is definitely the perfect getaway to relax a bit from all the hassle in the Medina. This is the purest definition of a hidden gem since this is really undiscovered and no tourists at all. The trail goes really far, and you can choose from where to return, we returned at the top of the hill which was about 2km from Borj Nord but definitely some more beauty further on!

It was a hidden away Riad restored into palacial quality. My room was possibly the smaller of the rooms but was enormous and such decor and attention to detail. My stay was spectacular. I met other travellers here and we dined together on the second night. The food was the best I've had in Morocco. The owners shared the history of the place and organised taxis and restaurant bookings during the stay. The gentleman who served breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a diamond! He helped me organise things as well and always ready to chat which as a lone traveller is great! It is located by place Seffarine which is good to remember should you need directions. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat....I believe it is one of the highlights of my trip to Morocco. I hope to come back soon.

And there is absolutely nothing about this place / experience that is a scam (what a silly thing to write in a review for a very legit restaurant). The food is modern, creative, and beautifully presented (although the mood lighting in the restaurant means it’s easy to take a dull / bad photo of the food, as some reviewers have). The cuisine is not tagines and couscous - it is a genuine locally-sourced, modern degustation from an internationally trained Basque-Moroccan chef. The food is creative and not every dish will appeal to everyone’s taste - which is the case with every degustation at every restaurant that is looking to try new, creative things. Overall my wife and I loved the food - especially the tender beef with fig and fermented orange. We ate seven (7!) courses plus delicious warm bread with cheese to start, so we left extremely full and very satisfied. The dining room is a beautiful central riad courtyard filled with art collected by the owner and head chef Najat Kaanache. If you like the art, your will love the decor. Unfortunately it did not deliver. The restaurant was not difficult to find and was quiet the evening we ate. At first, seemed a bit disorganized, we entered and though we made a reservation and pre-paid, doesn’t seem like the hostess/server had any notes of our arrival, our table was set for us after sitting down with a stained table linens. The meal, was a multi course meal, about 6 smaller bites over 3 hours. Most of the courses were edible but not enjoyable and took very long (as many of the reviews suggest). Little cohesion within each dish and very little cohesion amongst the set menu. Courses lacked both in flavor and technique, and plating was an interesting take (on heavy tiles). Wine pairing was ok - did not pair well and seemed more of an afterthought. The service was in the middle, one hostess/waitress who was very kind and warm. Not her fault the food was not good and had to take the heat from other guests. For the price, ~$140 USD per person for the meal and wine - was grossly disappointing. This amount for food in Morocco is VERY expensive. I wish this restaurant all the best - maybe this was an off night, since the other reviews really swing. I would not recommend as it seems inconsistent and not worth it for the unknown.

We had a lovely tour through the workshops, saw many artists at work, and learned all about the mosaic/ceramic processes. Afterwards we were given the chance to make our own mosaic, paint our own piece of ceramic, and even try the pottery wheel! We were looked after so well, and at the end were given time to browse the shop. This is a short drive outside the Medina walls and very much worth it. The dedication of the artists is realized here and you can see them making incredible art in every step of the process. They had the lowest pressure sales people of our entire trip and that was refreshing. There are many different things to buy, tons of different price points, which was fun shopping. Definitely come here if you’ve been enjoying the tiles and ceramics of Morocco, the actual real deal.
