The interior and exterior decor and vintage collectibles are worth the visit alone. It was quiet when we were there mid afternoon on a week day but we know it is usually crazy busy. Lavery's has always been one of the best bars in my opinion for a chill and social atmosphere when doing events. The pool tables are nice and there were enough for more than 40 people. Booked it online and that was pretty easy to do. The service by the staffs were amazing to, Pearce (apologies i dont know how to spell their name) was such an amazing person. They listened to what we needed for the night and was very considerate. Drinks were nice, a lot of people got drinks over pool. It was so good I came back the next day as she'd recommended the ham and champ but sadly missed out as didn't realise they close the kitchen just after 8. The decor is beautiful and matches the photos online although when I was told via the website I had to book a table online I would be given my deposit money back (which I was not) It claimed at the end you would receive your money back off my bill so I was assuming it was a bar tab situation considering I had to set down the deposit. When we arrived no one was there to actually seat us we had to attend to the bar and ask after waiting a long while behind people at the bar and waiting at the “check in desk”. It was bar service and not a tab which personally confused me considering how my deposit was holding a “table” on the rooftop I never received, we had to wait indoors until a table was free outside and find it ourselves. The drinks were lovely made perfectly although outside the music from indoors was overpowering it was genuinely hard to hold a conversation with my peer after near enough every sentence we were asking each other what we said as it was too loud to hear each other. It’s nice you can smoke out on the rooftop and drink which in many places now it’s not aloud so it is great that you can although i wouldn’t return due to deposit not being returned for a table we didn’t receive and not being able to hear each other.

As local as you can get. I barely see any foreigners except myself. I was recommended to try this place by the locals.. I went there alone and the staff and patrons were quite nice to me. Even ate some without the mignonette. Could have ate another 6! I tried the Crabs claws which are difficult to eat but once you get to the meat - Heavenly! Good buttery sauce to soak up the bread. Took me a while to get to the crab Meat. Very meaty and fresh crab! For my 'mains', i did small portion of the mussels. Very good also, fresh and easy to eat. The cream wine, shallot sauce! I could drink them all but it goes well with bread. Cleared up the mussels as you can see from my photos. Ate everything! I did have a local gin to wash these dishes down. No other word to describe only discrimination at its finest been told a bar is closing at 11 while it was still well and live at closer to 1 o clock... DISCRIMINATION IS THE ONLY WORD I will be speaking with my solicitor today about this .. And it will be the last time I will come here after been here many times without issues I will never step foot in here again

There were other people asking later in the evening, and equally disappointed. As we had travelled in for the event, we did stay for food ordering pizza. 55minutes lapsed from ordering until the pizza arrived at our table. Also disappointing, the pizza was nice, although a very long wait for it. Staff did come and check had we received it around the 30 minute mark as we hadn’t. The selection of local beers is good, but the staff did not seem to know anything about local beers or events. I think this bar has the potential to be a good craft beer location but it just does not live up to its potential. We had a similar experience at another collaboration event night (again advertised on social media, but having to ask about it on the night) and staff appear clueless, with no idea what should be happening.

Oh my goodness. Beware Coeliacs!! Number 1: my sister was very ill after eating her food. She is Coeliac and double checked with everything she ordered to ensure it was GF. She had Caesar salad to start and thought it tasted of stuffing, half way through her main she started to feel a little unwell and thought it might has been the over, over peppered chicken she ordered for main. She wasn't fit for any dessert and was sick in the toilet by the time we had our tea. She has now become a custom to when she is unwell (general bug) or when she has been "glutened." And this was definitely a reaction to gluten. Number 2: I ordered the curry. When it arrived I noticed my prawn crackers were dusted in the thickest black pepper. I thought it was strange to put on a curry but said nothing. I removed the crackers and started to eat my curry. Never in my life have I had so much pepper. My goodness. I don't no if he dropped it or what happened but I asked the staff if I could have more sauce to maybe disguise the taste. Afraid of upsetting the chef I continued to eat it with the extra sauce mixed it. My eyes started to water and my stomach started to burn. The curry would have been nice without this poisoning of pepper. So disappointed. Unfortunately they have well and truly lost customers. Due to it not being safe for my sister to eat in it again and the pepper obsession the chef has I think we need to dine in a more suitable restaurant in the future.

Sadly within several hours post visit my husband was very unwell as were 2 other party members. Symptoms were all of food poisoning. I contacted the restaurant and initially all the right sounds were made but they did not follow up as suggested. Again l contacted them and they were very apologetic. By this stage my husband and another member of the party were still incredibly unwell. I contacted Shu several times as did my friend’s husband. At my suggestion they did refund the cost of the meal as a gesture of good will. They also assured me that food standards would be visiting and l would be kept informed…. I am still waiting! The fact that 3 party members were unwell is one thing, l get it, mistakes can happen but it is how you deal with the situation that is all important. A big let down for sure.

Great vegetarian options, I had one of the specials, the peanut butter and chickpea fritter with quinoa which was seriously one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. My husband got the burger which he also loved. We split the fried cheese at the start, which was perfect and gooey with great sauce compliments to add a hit of flavor. The cocktails were delightful, I got the Mollys Garden which was a gin and elderflower drink. It was light and crisp, perfect for dinner. Everything was reasonably priced, service was friendly, quick and we loved every second of our dinner here. We also went for the dessert which almost every table got (which no surprise it was great), the raspberry crumble with vegan raspberry sherbet which was the perfect cap on our meal, tart, not too sweet, and so so tasty. We sat inside but there’s also a lovely area outdoors to dine at if you’d like!

Popped in as spotted it whike heading to the airport and only just made my flight as a result but so glad I did. Lovely, fresh local food, the service from the French gent that served me was exceptional and the setting was just gorgeous. Busy time of night (it was a Thursday night around 6-7pm). It was obvious that they had been sitting under heat lamp for a while. The cheese on the nachos had congealed and the nachos were one big clump (see photos). The chicken bites were edible, but very greasy. The garlic bread was thin piece of paper posing as a pizza crust with barely any butter brushed on it, much less any garlic. It was uncut and could not be cut with a knife easily or even torn into pieces. (again, see photos). All in all a very disappointing and unpleasant meal. So we came across Bright’s, there was a queue, which is usually a good sign, we were seated in less than 10 minutes. Now to the Ulster Fry, living up to the New York Post banner outside, it’s one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Belfast, reminiscent of my Grandmothers efforts. Good quality ingredients, cooked well, Heinz beans which is a big plus, proper tea in a pot, at least 3 cups. We also tried the stack, which was a revelation, soda bread, topped with bacon, then potato cake, then sausages, a pancake, topped with 2 eggs - something I’ll be recreating at home. Staff were very friendly and polite, prices are very reasonable, well worth a visit.

It’s clean friendly and the food is nice. There are 3 rooms which are used every weekday and weekends, it’s a place that have a good hardcore clientele and it’s very well run. The outside looks cool but that’s about it. The restaurant is upstairs and once we entered the dining room, the service staff were rude, told us to wait for a table, as we had 5, when we asked if we could order drinks while waiting, we are rudely told no, when seated it took a while to order drinks and food. General vibe was inattentive. The food selection was okay, the corn ribs were good, probably the best thing with a good flavor. We ordered the large bread starter and it had basic white slider buns on it to dip into oil and a whipped butter style sauce. When we asked what the sauce was the wait staff simply replied, “I don’t know”. The fish and chips seem to be a good size but are tasteless and either overcooked or the oil needed changing. The chicken burger was okay, but lacked any really flavor. The fact that they charge £1 to switch your potato side( fries, chunky chips, mash etc) is crazy and meant we had to get creative with who wanted what and what was their assigned side on the menu and then when the food arrived we did swaps to avoid potentially a £5 addition for no reason. When we were finished, again the servers took ages to clear the plates and for the price I was disappointed. The restrooms weren’t clean, missing soap and paper. Overall a bit disappointing as this was my pick for lunch for our trip. To note- they responded to my review. Asked me to email them, I did and then they never emailed back.

I then was asked by serving staff about ten minutes later how the food was I told her great as it was, but how can they not have mustard when serving beef. Anyway I heartily recommend the carvery it was heaped and not one part of it was under or over cooked. Very good value for money. Again the waiting and guy who served the food are the reason I wouldn't hesitate to go again.
