There’s construction going on across the street which creates a bottle-neck situation where it’s almost impossible to even get into the garage. The restaurant itself is cramped, hot, and uncomfortable with sticky tables, hot air, and strange seating where you might have to sit with other parties if the place gets busy. We chose to sit inside and it wouldn’t have mattered if we sat outside because it was genuinely that hot inside. Our waiter also seemed like he didn’t like us or want to be there for some reason. From the get go he was quiet, not polite, and didn’t make our experience any better. He wouldn’t give us ice water despite there being jugs of ice inside, so we got warm tap water. That plus the blistering heat made it genuinely miserable. I also wanted the toppings of the garlic ramen but with a chicken broth and he said you cannot customize to that degree. So you can’t switch broths or toppings between ramens, which seems really odd to me and like they don’t make their food to order or in house or something…? I don’t know. My partner did end up getting the chicken ramen and I do have to say that the broth was out of this world, genuine chicken flavor and honestly yummy. My garlic one fell so flat though, it was a weird combo and wasn’t appetizing. The ramen egg was also stone cold. Me and my partner ended up switching and neither of us could get through it. For another positive, we got the chicken gyoza and those were honestly very tasty with a great texture. I wish that our waiter had brought us plates or something to share the appetizer, because we had to use napkins to eat on, instead of getting plates. I do think there’s some good things on the menu here but you have to be careful, some items just aren’t it. To end the meal our waiter threw the little checkout machine at us and immediately we knew something was wrong because he was greatly overcharging us. Looking closer, nothing was right on the ticket and when we told him about this, he realized that he had pulled up the wrong table’s receipt. There was only one other table present…? When he brought up our “correct” receipt it still was wrong with a ramen with, “spicy red,” added onto it. At this point we were drenched in sweat and ready to go, so we just paid and left. At the end I still feel like it was so expensive- $60 for 2 people to eat ramen is crazy. I really wish that we had a better experience here but we probably won’t be back.

While I have visited many times I need to call out to our server Jabari for this most recent visit he really went out of the way to make the night feel extra special with great recommendations and warm service. We wouldn't have gotten the potato latkes without his input and they turned out to be a favorite for everyone! Overall highly recommend B&B for anyone who loves bold flavors and a well crafted vibe. Maybe thinking the restaurant had messed up our order and had maybe served ANOTHER Thai soup that was airy and light, we asked the waitress, and she confirmed that yup, that WAS ACTUALLY TOM YUM SOUP. Horrified, I asked for a refund and we sent it back (the first time in my LIFE I have ever sent back a dish). They luckily did not charge for the soup, but the other dishes were also not good. The Thai salad was limp and overly-soaked in sauce and the sauce simultaneously coated the papaya but also did not penetrate the papaya, so it was just wet but biting into the papaya was absolutely flavorless. I don’t know how they messed it up so badly. When I went to pay, I was shocked the total for 3 dishes was almost $70. Horrible and overpriced. I had a phenomenally visceral experience slurping noodles and broth and tearing into the meat with fingers and teeth; pretty sure I made little "oo" or "yum" sounds with nearly every bite. A meal that makes you feel alive!! The folks dining with me reported the pho was great, too — they nail the broth, which is by far the most important part. Service was zippy even in the middle of Sunday lunch rush. I have to get back to Nashville sometime and try some of their other dishes — there were many on the menu I wasn't familiar with, before but after experiencing the delights of mi vit tiem, I'm eager to make their acquaintance!

China Cottage is a step above the other choices which makes me wonder if this restaurant has the same owners as the restaurant in Hendersonville with the same name. They are both very good. We ordered General Tso's Tofu, Steamed Dumplings, and a dish called Spicy Trio. The last dish is composed of chicken, shrimp, scallops, and mixed vegetables. All were excellent and well prepared. My only wish relates to the Spicy Trio- I wish it had maybe one more scallop, and less carrots and celery. More cabbage and/or bok choy would have been welcomed for this dish. Are carrots and celery really "Chinese" vegetables. Still, the dish was very good and appropriately spicy. Look forward to trying some new dishes soon.

I thought the spring rolls were lacking, just minimally seasoned cabbage, no carrots, with the overly bready kind of wrapper. Suspect it’s cheap and frozen spring rolls. The kicker for me is that those four items totaled $41 after tax w/o tip. For that money it simply has to be better. There was a sign on the door that they are hiring, hopefully for a cook. Holding out hope for that, maybe we’ll try it again some rainy day but we’ll keep looking for our go-to takeout.

The menu stated that I could have switched out the meat option for a cheaper alternative, but I was denied this by the server. Was hands down the best experience I have ever had in any restaurant, let alone Nashville. Our service from everybody was phenomenal, our waiter, Gregg, was absolutely amazing. The menu is quite varied. My top recommendation is the Spider Bowl a unique noodle dish with a full soft shell crab fried to perfection. The pho, spring rolls and ginger chicken rice bowls also deserve special mention. The portions are plenty to satiate hunger and the flavors are subtle and well considered unlike some other South East Asian locations that overpower everything with seasoning. This is also a great spot if on a vegetarian diet and there are vegan options as well for some dishes. The atmosphere inside is pleasant with decent seating as they have recently expanded. If it's nice out their patio is charming and a great choice. They have a small beer and sake selection of cans to complement some of the Spicer dishes, all asian beers if I recall correctly. As for service I've never found it bad but never great. Follow up after order and checking on drinks is a particular weak spot. Don't expect alot but your order will be correct at least. Overall I always am happy to dine here when in the mood for some Vietnamese comfort food.

The food is consistently excellent, and the orders are always accurate. They pay attention to detail, and it shows. After we received a refund for the plastic infested pho, the young girl with glasses and a black beanie came up to us as we were still by our table and told us “make sure you put the dishes in the dirty dish bin.” Mind you, we were not even leaving yet, and her attitude was terrible. Then we said okay and acknowledged it despite having another worker take our plates off the table the previous time. She then walked behind the cashier and began talking loudly about us and saying very ugly things. She seemed to be miserable which made us feel bad for her. We recently went to their new location in Bellevue, and it completely blew us away!
