I got the 1 1/2 pound lobster, which was the perfect amount of meat. The mussels were good, but I wouldn't order again. The clam chowder, however, was addicting and had plenty of clam meat. My wife wasn't expecting the filets of codfish for the fish & chips, but still enjoyed it. The complimentary bread for the table was great, especially the pumpkin bread. And my wife thoroughly enjoyed the lemonade cooler. I only thought it was okay, so mixed opinion on the value of the cooler. Damien, our server, was awesome! He provided excellent service and suggestions, was very personable, and I felt like I made a new friend by the time our meal was over. Big fan of the staff here and for the hospitality we received. We went with the endive salad which was fresh and bitter and fantastic and the meatballs and chicken parm (huge) which were savory and delicious. For two people it was almost too much, next time we will probably split an entree, but you can't complain about that. Overall a fantastic experience and an even better meal, will definitely be back!

They were very accommodating to our family (2 adults, a 4 yr old and an 8mo old....made room for our stroller). First the space is beautiful. I love the old house feel, I wish we got to sit on the patio but inside was very nice and we made our reso same day so no complaints, just happy we got in. We had the seafood tower, the duck fat popcorn, the halibut sliders, the buratta, the octopus, the chicken, a cheese pizza, the duck and 3 desserts. With a couple cocktails and a bottle of wine the bill was about $375 not including tip so not bad at all. Everything was amazing, although I didn't find the popcorn worked well, it was mostly tiny popcorn kernels that were really soggy. The crackling was great in it though. I would 100% eat here again. The only thing that is a problem(for me) is that the dance floor is not cordoned off from the rest of the bar. Supposedly the area near the back wall is a pass through but people dance there as well. So there’s really no place to be dancing where you won’t eventually be pushed out of the way by someone trying to get through. The reviews I’d read had been mixed at best, and I feared the place might have lost the magic it had maintained for so many years. Well, based on our recent visit, I’m pleased to say my fears were unfounded. We spent a WONDERFUL Friday evening dining in the downstairs (beach level) room and everything was superb. The downstairs room has retained its quiet acoustics and casual elegance. The colors and finishes have been updated, but the space will still look familiar to those who remember its earlier appearance. We were the first to arrive so I snapped a photo of the room before other guests were seated. The service was excellent- still the same high level of professionalism and courtesy as before. And most importantly, the food and drinks were exquisite. We enjoyed a very generous serving of the cabbage chili crisp salad (so flavorful), the perfectly-cooked halibut with pistachio topping, and a savory filet mignon. Cocktails were on-point as well: a seductive Black Manhattan and a bright, refreshing spirit-free “fauxhito.” Based on this experience, I’m happy to say that The Mews is still at the top of my list of fine dining venues in Provincetown. Can’t wait to return.

We had the complete opposite experience. When we first entered, I thought the space was very cool, but it was pretty well crowded and noisy. For some reason, I thought it would be very quiet and intimate down here. We both started out with wine and I had glass of super Tuscan that was $22, it was OK, nothing special. My partner had a glass of Chardonnay and he thought it was a little bit pricey. The bread that was brought to the table was tasteless. The olive oil had no flavor at all. We shared the beet salad and it was OK. I ordered fettuccine with a Bolognese sauce and my partner had a chicken and shrimp dish with a vodka sauce. When the server ever put my meal down in front of me, I just sort of laughed. There had to be a pound of pasta in there and maybe 2 tablespoons of meat and really no sauce at all. I know what Bolognese sauce is, and I make it at home and I occasionally have it while we’re dining out and this was not Bolognese sauce. Whenever I order Bolognese sauce out, there’s always a lot of the sauce with the meat on top of the pasta, this was all mixed in and sparse. I was going to suck it up and eat it but then I just said I do that all the time, so when our server came over to ask how it was, I said there’s just about no meat in this at all and she even admitted that it’s usually meatier. You’ll see the picture that I posted.  She offered to bring another dish and I accepted and it was a little better, but even like the first one the flavor was off, I don’t know how to describe it, but the sauce just wasn’t right.  It tasted old and burned. My partner‘s dish, the pasta was undercooked, and the sauce was over salted.  The chicken was cut in little tiny cubes and was coated in a batter.  There were two shrimp in the dish.  The total came to $140 before the tip.  The wall next to our table was coated in dried food and probably never cleaned. To top it all off, I got up to use the men’s room before we left and I always make sure I lock the door and while I was doing my thing, a woman walked in on me. I guess the lock on the door doesn’t work. After my experience, it felt like a tourist trap.  I was really disappointed.

I’ve wanted to try it for years, and this was the year! The menu is incredibly small, so make sure there is something you want before booking it. There were two appetizer specials but not entrees. We split the incredible duck sliders everyone talks about (and are worth being discussed), and I got the bouillabaisse, which was quite delicious though scarce on amounts of seafood (2 mussels, one scallop halved in two, a small chunk of lobster, etc). The wine list is quite nice, and we skipped on dessert. The biggest complaint I have are the prices. The prices are astronomical for what you get and compared to others in town offering similar with more variety and/or better ambiance. I had a nice white linen cocktail and my partner was able to get a yummy mocktail that perfectly complimented our oysters. We also shared a burrata salad but unfortunately for my gluten free partner (fortunately for me) she couldn’t have the fried olives so I had them all to my self and they were delicious.
