The Old Post Office is set back from the street and on a small yard so that it is quiet for an urban stay. Breakfast was cooked plus cereal yoghurt and toast, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Plenty to eat and good quality. We also ate in the bar one evening, its good pub grub at a reasonable price and the beer was good too. The room was bare and there was mould on the ceiling of the bathroom. Turning the taps on produces just a trickle but if you turn really hard you can get a little more water out. The shower over the bath is equally poor so takes ages to shower. The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the rooms either and we found it near impossible to get any sleep on the rock hard bed. We also got to listen to the occupants upstairs going to the toilet each time as the drain appears to run across the top of the room. When we left in the morning there were no staff to speak to but a cleaner just told us to leave the keys in the drop box. Initially we wrote to the owners before leaving this review but their response was just to dismiss our complaints. They said they knew about a leak causing the mould but didn’t have time to fix it. They should of course close the room to to paying guests until it is fit to sleep in. They also said if we had spoken to them in the morning they could have resolved things. There was no one there to speak to as we walked around the empty rooms and bar area downstairs. Good location in Shrewsbury but we would recommend staying somewhere else.

When I first got there, she told me that as we had discussed on the phone there will be parking available, but the day before I was about to depart she starts pestering again about moving my car as she needs that space now. She also started having a less welcoming demina towards the last day ..... Probably because she had been given the cash and thought sod it !!! Oh and she only takes cash, probably off the books as her business is falling to bits. Overall I'm not the first am2 student to have complaint about this place so if you are in the area or coming to do your am2 exam, it is more convenient to go down the Travelodge.

We have never visited before. The decor was nice and bright and a very clean dining area. The food was lovely, good portion size (the pavlova is huge!) and went down well. The staff were delightful and polite the whole visit. However, the space within the dining area was quite cramped. A couple of members had to shuffle their seats to let people past, and if you have a pram or walking device with you, you may struggle to get through. Also, service was very slow. We waited quite a while to get served and to recieve our food, even with the restaurant not being particularly busy. What a gem it was. We had evening meal before the gig it was great. The place is a twist of old but modern. You just want to spend time in the easy chairs and have just another drink. The place itself has always held a fascination due to its history and status. You walk into an area of calm and as you walk into the dining space you can feel its age with your feet due to the wonky floor. Anyhow, the food - we selected calamari (yums) & Pork in noodles & broth + Bhuna, all very nice with a couple of drinks, Kir royal & a Merlot. Service was lovely and genuine smiles with a gentle approach. There is a bar area where people & pooches are served beer and water, you work out which for who. Shrewsbury itself is a good walking city with lots of individual shops & attractions. This hotel has private limited parking. The room that we stayed in was a superior room 14 this room has a industrial extractor unit from the kitchen right outside of the window. The room has some of it originall features, like exposed beams. The walls were painted white whith grey doors and skirtings It would have been nice to see some photos of bygone days of Shrewsbury and a touch of colour on the walls, and textiles. Everything you need even had ironing board and iron. Bathroom door didnt shut properly but with the Mrs didnt really bother us. Power shower in the room too but could do with a new head but overall we enjoyed the stay and the location is right in the triangle of the prison, train station and the castle all minutes walk away. Town centre is a about a five minute walk. Juat a quick note. If I wanted luxury I would of went to a purpose hotel. Me and mrs like to get somewhere whats value for money and more or less somewhere to sleep and a bag drop off because we are out all day sight seeing and shopping. I was greeted my a friendly staff member upon arrival and was clear with how things work. The room did the job but the bed and pillows weren't comfortable so didn't sleep very well, the heat for this year didn't help matters either. I think if you had a rear facing room you'd avoid that completely. I didn't venture down into the bar area so I can't really comment much about that but the pub looked full and friendly enough. The room was beautifully furnished and had the comfiest bed. Lovely touches like the coffee machine and toiletries made such a difference. Location is perfect for Shrewsbury town centre and easily walkable into town within ten minutes. Have already booked again and would recommend to anyone.

Dog friendly, a small beer garden outside with picnic benches on AstroTurf and some tables on decking. Went for a few pints of pig on the wall, £4 a pint so not bad for Shrewsbury. Tasted as it should, a great beer. It has a dartboard with darts provided and electronic score counter. One of the better pubs in that area so if visiting it's probably the best choice. I'll definitely be visiting again.

This trip, my wife and I stayed at the St Nicholas boutique hotel in Shrewsbury. We stayed 2 nights over the weekend (June 2025) and enjoyed our stay here. It wasn't all roses, so let me mention the Pros and Cons. Cons: no parking. We did contact the hotel, and were mentioned that the parking is closed, only a few hundred yards... But annoying and could be a challenge for less able bodied people, especially as we had to climb up/down stairs. Parking for 24hours was very reasonable at around 6 pounds a day. The bed. So it was a queen. Would have preferred a king, but the main issue was that every time you moved the bed would squeak. This did make for not the greatest nights rest. The duvet was also not comfortable... This, in my opinion would need some consideration. Due to the warm weather, we did have the window open....and on account of it's location (see below), did make for a noisy couple of nights. There were also issues with breakfast on the first day and running out of toilet paper, and a loose toilet seat etc..... These could have been very frustrating had it not been for the outstanding service provided, which leads me onto the pros: Service/Staff. Apologies for not remembering their names, but the staff at the hotel were exceptional. I cannot remember a hotel of late where I got any better. They were attentive and accommodating... A BIG thank you from me. Location. Perfect for exploring Shrewsbury town centre, just a few minutes walk away. Breakfast. Very good (on the Sunday) and great coffee. And yes, breakfast starts at 8:30, but on a weekend, not an issue for us! The building is quirky, but adds to the character. We were on the 3rd floor and although the weather was very warm, the room itself was relatively cool (thankfully owing to the very thick walls, a standing fan and open windows - which were beautiful). All in all, would definitely recommend this boutique hotel.

"Hotel" is a pub that runs loud music nights until past 1am. Everything in the hotel room was shaking from the bass, no soundproofing. If I could give it a zero star I would. We stayed in this hotel photos look nothing like the rooms. When we arrived we had to wait as there was in issue with the toilet? Even after it had been looked at the toilet wouldn’t flush. There was no hot water so was unable to have a shower or even wash hands properly. If you want to have a good night sleep then this is not the place. People from the pub fighting outside early hours of the morning. Noise from the pub is horrific. No where to leave the keys when you leave as no reception. You have to rely on a ring door bell to communicate with anyone. The rooms had a very strong smell of weed and so did the corridors. Freezing cold all night as the windows do not close. Beds are not stable so you’re sliding around getting into bed! Not safe! Would not recommend very overpriced for what it is.

It is a terrible place to stay – recommended only to desperate travelers unable to stagger more than a few feet from the train station. There will be pounding music and loud patrons until the early morning hours. And, beware: the hotel/pub won’t even be open in the morning, so there’s no way to check out or store your bag.
