There’s a reason why they have 3 keys and Belmond has 1. My first visit to Belmond has firmly secured in my mind that I will be visiting Post Ranch sooner rather than later. I was provided with a microwave in my room, I’m not sure if all rooms have them or not but it was nice to have as I work for a major airline and I am on a layover. I was looking forward to some warm food as it was too late to get food when I arrived at the hotel. When you work pm trips this is often the case. I warmed up my late dinner and after about 3 mins the microwave stop working. I tried opening it to retrieve my food and it locked up. I tried everything but nothing worked. I attempted to call the desk using the room phone and it was not working. So I walked over to the front desk to speak with someone. The young woman working the desk seemed pleasant at first and was initially helpful. But I after I asked her a few questions she got visibly angry and responded as such. I was taken aback, all I wanted was a warm meal and to go to bed. It was very unnerving, I’ve had layovers here in the past and have never experienced anything like this. The staff has always been very professional and courteous. Tonite was an exception. I returned to my room and was later contacted by Victor, I believe he was a maintenance guy. He broke the microwave door open and I at least got the food out. He also offered to walk my food to the main building and warm it up for me. By this time it was late and all wanted was to go to bed. We had been here before for a drink at the Cabana Bar but it was great to experience the rooms and service. We stayed in the Montecito Bungalow Room and since we had our dog with us, they assigned us to a room that had a small yard for her! It was so nice to just open our patio door and let her go out on the yard. They provided dog amenities for her as well including a bed, bowls, and dog treats. Everywhere on the property is dog friendly (including their Michelin restaurant Caruso’s) except for the pool. The service was consistent across the property and was warm and welcoming. We loved the gym facilities and that there was an indoor/outdoor section. The landscaping is so perfectly manicured and the food and drinks were great. It was my birthday and they made the experience so special with champagne and cake to the room! We are already planning on coming back for my husbands birthday.

The hotel itself has so much charm and beautiful architecture. We never went to the lobby bar for food or drink but it was very inviting as well. The rooms were big, comfy beds and had a huge bathroom. There was also complimentary robes/slippers and a yoga mat. The yoga mat was such a nice surprise because I like to stretch in the morning. The only thing I would say is that I really wanted a balcony we could utilize and the Juliette Balcony was not that. It's so small, it's kind of silly it even exists. One person can barely get out there on it. Other than that, I highly recommend. I would definitely stay here again. Amazing customer service wins every time. Overall this hotel fails to meet a high standard. The location is very good, the lobby is attractive but a bit on the tired side (please replace the outdated, worn and extremely uncomfortable bar chairs!). 3 months ago we had reserved a King Studio suite with balcony. The all in cost for 2 nights was just under $3,000. The first room we were assigned was extremely small and not really a suite. But it was the quality and condition of the decor that was quite shocking. A big dark heavy mission style bed was crammed into a bedroom only to be matched to what can best be described as 1980's C grade office lobby furniture in foam green and white washed oak with metal trim and rounded corners. In addition all the balconies are just Juliet style and not usable. The bathroom is adequate. The bed and linens were nice, towels were rough. Overall the hotel is without the luxury amenities we expect. We placed our concerns with the front desk and they did move us to a larger suite with better furnishings. The staff were uniformly extremely nice and helpfull and we appreciated them most of all. Parking is valet only, very inconvenient and $33 per day. The resort fee of $40 really has no value at all and is just ancillary income. If you bring a dog the one resort value you might use...the pool and view deck is off limits (dont want to bring them in the pool area, just the view deck) . Overall for $400-$500 per night we would have been satisfied but not thrilled.

All of these things honestly wouldn't have mattered if the room was more affordable, but charging almost $500 a night a room in this condition is insane. We were rarely even in the room, just using it as a base to visit the Channel Islands. All we needed was a place to shower and sleep and it barely provided that. When we shared these issues multiple times with the front desk, we were met with little empathy or even solutions. Upon checkout were offered 10% off our stay (barely the cost of one night's tax). Honestly, take your money elsewhere - this hotel is riding the fact that it's waterfront to charge crazy rates with rooms in poor condition.

To sum it up, you're basically paying for the location. The rooms are okay, but for the price, it doesn't fully equate. I stayed in one of the refurbished rooms, parking lot view :(. It was mostly quiet though. The decor was cute but the room was very small with just one small chair and a tiny table. The bathroom was small as well with a very French-sized shower. The air conditioning/heater was really loud when on. The ceiling fan looked like it had not been dusted in a while, there was a spider hanging out just above the corner of the window on day 1 and a web or dust string hanging on the top hinge of the bathroom door. They need to clean these areas better. It wasn't like gross dirty but just seemed to lack attention around those areas. While you have to pay $32 or so dollars a night (on top of the room fee) to park your car there, I will say the valet guys were super friendly and went above and beyond, even outshining the front desk folks :).

Was told there was no reservation on file. I then made a reservation for 10/25. We were looking forward to staying here. The room was gorgeous and the view beautiful. However, when we arrived at hotel, we were told there were 2 reservations under our name. We explained this had to be an error, as we had checked in Sept & been told by them there was no reservation - which is why we had made another one. Suggested perhaps there was an error with their system. They refused to correct this and refused to contact the person with the ability to do so. We’ve stayed here 3 times now and every single time it’s been amazing! This hotel has the vibes of a glamours, eclectic vintage mansion and I absolutely die every time I walk through the huge iron worked front door and see that blush colored staircase in the entry. You literally feel like you’re in a movie. The landscaping, the furniture and decor..chef’s kiss. The 2 front desk girls we’ve seen have been welcoming and accommodating. We’ve requested the same room every time and have always gotten it. (I’m going to gatekeep the room # tho 😉) The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean and spacious. The windows let in that Santa Barbara sunshine and ocean breeze. Omg I can’t wait until our next stay.

Booked it through Expedia, paid in full. Then on check in they said they require a deposit of another $100+ which would be refunded. They gave me a piece of paper to sign about policies. Few days after, they refunded the deposit, but charged my card for $30. When I called, it took me 5 attempts and an email to reach someone. Once a lady picked up and said she is too busy, will call me back- never did. Next day, I finally reached someone who explained they charge additional "bed fee?" if I heard correctly and that it was mentioned somewhere on the piece of paper I signed on check in..no one ever mentioned it during booking, check in or on the website. Why is there fee you can't avoid after already paying full advertised price during booking? Feels like a very shady hotel practice that I haven't seen anywhere else. The hotel itself is cute, but not maintenaned very well, the rooms are old and without A/C could get pretty hot. They did have a small ventilator in the room that helped a little. The location is good and close to the beach. Breakfast was disappointing, just some cereals and make-your-own waffles, no staff nearby until the very end when someone refilled the water jug. I don't do many but felt that I had to one here. This place is just amazing. Its unlike anything I've experienced. A couple of caveats. One, they don't have air conditioning, at least the building where i stayed. It might be a problem when you stay. Don't know summer temps but stayed there in mid October and weather, both day and night was beautiful. The room did appear to have a gas fired wood fireplace so maybe cool in the winter. The room was great. Second floor. Had a court yard view, a small little deck, a waterfall of some sort provided the white noise to sleep as i had the window open at night. Two, it's a bit confusing when ya get there as its 2 buildings but the main office is in the second building, the one that isn't on the corner. The location is great as it's probably a 3-5 minute walk to pear. The main reason for this review is the service I got, specifically from a young woman named Emily I believe. She was outragously wonderful. She saw my confusion when trying to find the office. Checked me in, gave me a personal tour of the property. She was a relatively new hire, a local. Gave me a few plces to see and eat. Remembered not only my name at a few encounters but remembered others as well. To management, do everything you can to keep her and others like her. She was an unexpected gem. I will be back because I found santa barbara a great place to visit and a great mid point to explore the CA coast. And you are my first choice of stay because of the relaxed atmosphere, the rooms I swear don't feel like a hotel..and because of Emily.

The two young men who worked the front desk both days were so helpful giving us great suggestions for activities and places to eat. We followed every one and they were spot on. It is my preferred place to stay while on business. The close proximity to the airport and the company we are there to visit is very convenient. Overall, the main hotel staff has always been amazing and very accommodating. The hotel also has an amazing rooftop bar which provides a beautiful view of the surrounding hills/mountains. The staff serving the rooftop bar have always been super friendly, making for a fantastic experience. Food and drinks could be considered expensive but they have a happy hour on some food and drink items. I highly recommend trying it at least once, it is always something I do on one or both of my nights during my stay. As for the rooms, I have never had any issues with any of the rooms I have stayed in. They are always clean and well taken care of and if you need anything, the front desk is a call away.

The Santa Barbara hotel is newly renovated and it shows! The lobby was bright and airy, the rooms were all freshly painted and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is centrally located on State St. Three pizzarias in close proximity! There’s a Starbucks attached to the hotel, World Market right across the street and several reataurants and bars close by. It was a short 10-minute walk to the beach. The hotel offers valet parking service and complimentary bike rental which we used down at the beach! We’ll definetly come back as we felt welcome and it was just a great stay. Oh the other thing we liked was there was a filtered water station right outside the room with bags of ice already made for us! No more noisy ice machines to deal with. The only downside was the placement of the tub. It was a little tight getting in and out of the shower area. I hope they will make different accomadtions in that area.

We arrived early and they found a way to get us a room several hours before the official check in time. The outside of the hotel is beautiful and it was really cool seeing it from a sailboat during our sunset cruise. She is a lovely woman, so welcoming and helpful. You could actually walk to the beach from there. It was really easy to get around. Lots of good shops good restaurants. The hotel itself, The rooms are small, but sufficient for my husband and myself. Our room was clean. The carpet is old, but in pretty good shape and clean our bathroom was great shower was big very clean. There were two issues. I had one was an old chest of drawers that they had put in the room that emitted a very strong musty odor. All the office staff we had interaction with was nice. We had a 2 queen bed room that had plenty of space for 3 of us (2 adults, 1 toddler) and our bags. The location was nice. A quick commute to the zoo and eating places. There were a few places that looked great across the street that we would have gone to if we didn't have our daughter with us (not quite kid friendly). We weren't able to use the pool due to our short stay but it looked really well kept. You could open the windows which was nice since the weather was great and AC can make the air too dry. The one thing that I would have to say was a negative was the size of some parking spaces. My husband drives a Ram truck with a full bed and we were only comfortable parking in a few of the spots without worrying that we would be hit by someone. However if you have a regular car or small SUV you wouldn't have any issues. The other negative would be the size of the bathroom. It is small but at least clean and provided all of the toiletries plus a few more.

This place is worth every penny. The beds were super comfortable, and they have a lovely turned down service. We stayed here as our son was getting married at the nearby courthouse. We booked our stay for our Anniversary and it did not disappoint! Everything was FANTASTIC right from our arrival! The Simpson House Inn is located in a very nice neighborhood, secluded from the street, with parking. The grounds are immaculate, with lots of trees & shrubbery; there are lawn chairs to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. We were warmly greeted and shown into the main house, which is a magnificent Victorian era home- the living room/dining area was comfy with plenty of books in the study (that you can take to your room if you wish). Water & coffee are available there most times, & they offer guests a "Happy Hour" wine tasting too, with appetizers. We were then shown to our room, which was the "TACK ROOM" in another small dwelling on the property. There is also another small house which has hot tubs, but we chose the Tack Room. I think at one time it literally was a tack room for horses, but make no mistake, this is a very nice, very large room, with everything you need including a cozy fireplace! The room is an open living room/bedroom, with a separate bathroom with a shower. The room is very comfortable, there's a small couch, living room chair, small dining chair, armoire, small refrigerator & sink. The bed was also extremely comfortable, I had the best uninterrupted sleep (in decades) there. There is a small patio with table & chairs at the entrance if you wish to enjoy tea & crumpets outside. We did use the (gas) fireplace, which kept the room warm & comfortable. Very romantic! The decor is simple and pleasing. The room is well insulated and we could literally have stayed the entire day in there, or a week if there ever was a blizzard in Santa Barbara. The ONLY "problem" we had, because we were in the lower unit (there is also one above), & because the building is very old, the floor creaks slightly now and then. But not enough to keep us from staying again. I am pretty old now & my body creaks too, so don't knock it until you are 100+ years old! For those of you that want to stay at newer, generic, carbon-copy boring rooms at a hotel, go for it. But you can have so much better at places like this bed & breakfast inn! Speaking of breakfast, it is made to order and not a "Continental" breakfast. We had eggs, toast, pastries, fresh oatmeal (with fixings), fresh fruit, orange juice, and freshly brewed French Press coffee! You can either have the breakfast in the main house, or you can also have it delivered in your room complete with a small vase of roses! What more do you want! We loved it so much, we really didn't see much of Santa Barbara! We did however eat on the pier at the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company (another highly recommended visit! We went there twice in 2 days for fresh seafood!). It is a nice 45 minute walk there to the ocean, but you can take a Uber or Lyft for about $10 if you don't have a car (we took the train) and they will drop you off right at the end of the pier (which is where the S.B. Shellfish Co. is located). Plenty to do in Santa Barbara, but we just wanted to enjoy our anniversary (mostly) at the wonderful Simpson House Inn! We would do it again in a heartbeat! I saw another client relaxing in a nearby room and she informed me I could take off my shoes and even get water, due to the prior staff member's attitude I was uncertain if I was allowed in said waiting room as that was not where she left me. I hesitantly removed my shoes and waited in the salt room. My masseuse came and this is where come confusion occurred, when he left me to get undressed, I did not fully undress as I did not know the full capacity of the massage I paid for (hence me asking the associate what to expect), he had to explain to me that I had to remove all my clothes (or at least down to the underwear as the massage was full body), I then did as such and had a lovely massage. We have a 11 month old daughter and I booked a room through their website.. I misunderstood their child policy and when we arrived they informed us that only their large cottage rooms allow children and not the small room I booked. I was fully prepared to go somewhere else as this was totally my fault. But the owner instead upgraded us to a larger room that would work for us at no extra charge.
