Our server refused to let us move inside despite having a child who was cold. There were plenty of tables inside. She refused to have a candle lit on the cheesecake to celebrate my wife's birthday claiming it was too windy. Not going there again. Notice the candle hole on the cheesecake. Produce was fresh and cooked well. Scallops were tender and cooked perfectly fine. Everything else was just fine, probably because my pallet isn't sofistivated enough and I prefer more punchy flavours. :D Service could be better. I had the feeling that I was more smiley and positive than the server. Desperately wanted to get some vinegar with chips, but the server was nowhere to be seen. The table we sat at was shakey. Loved the simplistic design and the open kitchen. The only wet facility I could find was a disabled toilet at the back entrance, where deliveries are received from. Would be super cold to go in that area in winter.

We were there on a day trip on a blistering day in summer. We were in the mood for a seafood lunch and decided to go to Webbe's which had decent reviews. I had a bottled Cider and my friend had the Prosecco. We decided to have a dish each from the Mains section of the menu. We also ordered a side of Homemade Bread which came with Kentish rapeseed oil. I had the Steamed Panaché of Fish which was a melange of small pieces of fish like Plaice, Salmon, Cod, Mullet, Gurnard and Huss, Prawns and Mussels with Spinach and bits of Potatoes and Carrots in a Saffron Sauce. The plate was flavourful but a bit bland. The taste improved dramatically with the addition of some freshly ground pepper and salt. My friend had the Grilled Hake Fillet. The fish was perfectly grilled and was accompanied with bits of grilled Chorizo, Potatoes and Tomatoes in a Thyme Sauce. The dish was quite exceptional and we loved it! On the whole the meal was quite satisfying and Webbe's is worth a look-in if you ever visit this part of the world and are fond of seafood .

Having made a reservation at mid noon there weren’t too many people when we arrived, the seatings were comfortable being at good distance to each other too. Ordered 6 Maldon rock oysters to start with and they were really fresh, tender without being overly salty. For mains we had the grilled monkfish from the seasonal special menu, steamed panache with a good selection of seafood (very good value for money too!) and the Rye fish stew which was my favourite during my meal. The soup was filling and flavourful filled with mussels, shrimps, fish and potatoes - served with croutons, Parmesan cheese and rouille sauce. Though the service was slightly on the slower side it was a lovely meal afterall and perfect to stop by after arriving to Rye on the train before heading out to town centre.

Battered sausage is okay and can be bought separately. The main standout would be the fresh cod. If you prefer you can sit in to eat your meal though it does not seem obvious. It is quite hidden but there is a door next to the shop. Table service is fast. It is quite a small space and gets quite noisy as it becomes quite full. The doors on each side of the room open and slam shut with a loud bang every now and again. Atmosphere is not the best, good for a quick eat not good for a date. It gets quite busy on a Saturday evening and we were lucky to get a table. I think they close their table service around 8pm.

The hosts were very friendly, greeted us and showed us to a table for 2 by the window that just got freed up. We took our seats and placed our food order. I had a large cod & chips and a lemonade, whereas my wife got the medium portion of cod with chips and lemonade. I was debating if I should get the mushy peas or not, as I know the potion is usually small. The host encouraged me to get it and I'm glad I did, as they really put as much mushy peas in the portion as they could. The chips were piping hot and the fish was nice and flaky, but crunchy on the outside. The view out the window was also nice, as we could watch people go by and enjoy their day. Overall a very good experience and whenever we'll be passing through Rye again, we'll look to eat here.

We tried to feasting menu and got a good variety of the sharing small plates and main. The ray fish was the highlight of the meal for me — the sauce was divine and the fish was very juicy and tender. From start to finish Lisa and the team took the stress out of our DIY wedding. Directly in the centre but very peaceful. Really comfy bed with good quality linen. Great shower with gorgeous toiletries from a local business including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser. We stayed 2 nights and the rooms were perfect - comfortable beds, a lovely door on to a patio and the hotel garden; the bathroom was also perfect (very rare in my experience) - fabulous shampoo, showergel and lotion - a place to hang towels and an excellent shower tho being a short person I would like a lower shower head as well as the top one. The breakfast was incredible and plentiful. All the staff were fantastic and welcoming throughout our whole stay - esp Lindsay and Agnes (who I had a lot to do with sorting a few things out for the wedding) - so calm and helpful and supportive. The food was delicious and the service incredible. I love the games provided and the seating in the lounge/bar area is so comfortable. I want to be absolutely fair here and demonstrate beyond my opinion regarding price. We were at night 4 of our trip. Our stay at Gallivant was £435 B and B, including £80 (total for 2) towards dinner, so £355 B and B in a Large Hampton, in addittion our extras came to £212 for lunch (1 plate each), 3 cocktails and 2 x 1/2 bottles of lower end wines. £647 total. Please compare Night 1, Hever Castle B and B, Astor wing cost £240. Stunning room, super king bed, great bathroom, views, lounge for residents and barrel vaulted dinning room, great staff. Even had fresh local honeycomb at breakfast. 5* and superior in every way to Gallivant. Dinner Wheatsheaf Pub, cost about £170, fantastic sea bass, crispy skin, perfectly cooked wonderful service. Nights 2 and 3, 2 nights accom in Rye £170/night at Tea House, Large room, super king bed, lovely bathroom in period property. Dinner Landgate Bistro, £183, dinner Number Fifty £112 inc a £35 wine. - this restaurant is really worth an effort to visit, fantastic. Both dinners superior cooking and more interesting than at Harry's and were miles cheaper. I could go on about breakfast cost to complete the picture but go to Fig in Rye for brunch and see for yourselves. Sorry Gallivant and Harry's, having had such high expectations from reviews and recommendations, we felt let down and underwhelmed.

I wanted to eat but i felt alittle awkward to eat alone but Lindsay made me feel so comfortable and encouraged me to try the delicious food. What a absolutely divine meal I had. Creamy flavoursome mushroom soup followed by a succulent hake fillet and a delicious side of hollandaise cauliflower and brocoli cooked to absolute perfection. The food was incredible, great to look at as a visual cue before tasting the thoughtfully laid out dishes with attention to detail in the eating experience. The service was pleasant and helpful. There are so many authentic Turkish options to choose from on the menu, however, they have a range of familiar foods (chips, nuggets, burger) for younger children who may be fussy eaters.
