We ordered a couple of regular carveries with the wonderful staff who looked after us at our table. Upon receiving the beef from the lad who appeared to be in carving training his tutor instructed him to cut it thinner in the future. Now that lad was doing just fine, and I only just about received sufficient, if I had been the next customer behind I would not have been happy. Mash potato was awful, carrots and peas tasteless, Yorkshire pudding and green beans decent. It will be a few years again before I visit a Toby carvery.

Tegan was very helpful taking me through the allergy menu for the carvery to let me know what contained milk and egg. This has been the best service experience I have had ever. The food was very tasty. Turkey moist. Gammon tender and juicy. Roasties crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The stuffing was tasty, but was not firm. I think it needed cooking a bit longer. We ordered the Hunter's Chicken for me and the Mince and Onion pie for my wife along with 2 cokes. The first thing was that my coke had a distinct taste of onion - I am guessing obviously but my surmise is that the same knife or chopping board had been used for onions as was subsequently used to slice a lemon for our drinks. The meal was now at least warm but the chicken was bone dry - I am not a fussy eater as a rule but it was so bad I just could not face finishing it. When I went to pay, the lady did strike the Hunter's Chicken from the bill which was appreciated. About 2 hours later, both Yvonne and I were struck with a bad case of diarrhoea. Obviously, I cannot say if this was related to the meals we had eaten at Whispers but the timing would certainly suggest that this is a strong possibility. I would not recommend this café to others.

No problem - they supplied a box and we had them (lightly warmed in the oven) after dinner. The staff were noticeably hard working (clearing tables and delivering) and friendly.
